UGHHHHH I wanted Branch's brothers to react to Branch's loss of colour, I wanted them to ask him how was his life, I wanted my dose of angsttttttt 😮‍💨

Likeeeeee imagine them asking how come Branch is greyer than they remember, he was so blue as a baby and him telling them that he went completely grey when he saw HIS GRANDMA BEING EATEN IN FRONT OF HIM and then went completely paranoid holing himself up in his bunker and he tells them he's been sad for a really long time but then looks Poppy in the eyes takes her hand and says that the taught him how to be happy again. And then his brothers feel very guilty because they abandoned him and he was all alone and sad and if they had been with him then he wouldn't have gone grey but they could have helped him process that loss.

And maybe maybe he shows them his bunker when they get to Troll Village (let's get real, he definitely showed them the bunker, he told them about it) BUT he obviously redecorated when he got better with Poppy's help and it's homey and cozy now but when his brothers are exoloring they find out some remains of when Branch was paranoid and they understand a bit of what their brother went through!!!!

I've always headcannoned that they grew up really poor, probably without much parental guidance, and that they kind of had to learn how to fend for themselves from a very early age.

i imagine Praxina taking a more protective role of her brother after whatever happened to their parents. was definetly always getting into street fights with other kids in the neighbourhood, either to defend Mephisto or simply for the hell of it. i do believe that all her bias against love and any type of vulnerabily came from being forced to be tough from a young age in an enviromnent where vulnerability was a weakness that others exploited, in order to protect herself and her brother. when deep down all she needed was a hug and someone to take care of her too

as for Mephisto, i think he was a very clumsy and uncoordinated kid so he was always covered in bruises and scratches cause he was just- constantly tripping over his own feet or in random objects on the ground. was definetly a much more sensitive child than his sister (100% a crybaby). Had a snake plushie, that he very cleverly named "Mr.Hissy", that he took with him EVERYWHERE. talked to it and everything. he was really really attached to it, which is fine and all but that thing was filthy

Mr. Hissy because he deserves to be rewarded for all the shit he had to put up with:

he's a true national hero and a soldier.

as for the twins' parents, i´ve definetly wondered a lot about it but i don't have a specific headcanon for who they were and what their relationship with the twins was exactly (as in, were they good or shit parents, or simply... absent/dead)

Giant/tiny brainrot: The Iron Giant (Also Major spoilers for The Iron Giant)

I use they/them pronouns for the Giant because the movie doesn’t exactly specify the Giant’s preferred pronouns. And I capitalize the “G” in the Giant because they (as in the rest of the characters) call them that.

So I’ve been thinking recently about the movie The Iron Giant and how it was kind of my giant community origin story (lol). But there’s this scene where the Giant thinks that Hogarth is dead. The Giant touches Hogarth, but when they don’t get a reaction they assumes he’s dead and their hand is literally shaking. They’re making sad/confused robot noises and looks around, like maybe there’s someone else that could help them. Then reaches out, but is too sad and instead pulls back, balls up his fist and puts them to his face like they’re about to cry. In that moment you can tell they’re about to start blaming themself, but then the military comes in.

My point being, I need the tiny in the relationship getting knocked out, but not severely hurt, and the giant having been involved and failing to keep them safe. (I live for the angst sorry!) and then like the EMOTIONAL DAMAGE that comes along with that, also the softness with which the Giant touches Hogarth in that scene.

Like if you haven’t watched The Iron Giant, it’s so good! And it’s also the seed that planted my hatred for the American government and any/all systems of power that actively choose to put the lives of their citizens and soldiers on the line for financial gain while using all the power accumulated by said financial gain to keep the citizens and soldiers in financial straits. All in all The Iron Giant is a 10/10 movie and a 11/10 social commentary.
