Minthara says ā€œin Her nameā€ when you first meet her and sheā€™s following the Absolute but when you recruit her and she expresses that she no longer follows any god, but she still has an intact paladin oath, and she says ā€œin your nameā€ occasionally because sheā€™s no longer Lolthā€™s paladin or the Absoluteā€™s paladin, sheā€™s your paladin
#šŸ˜#she might not think youā€™re a god or whatever but youā€™re the only one that ever came to save her#and if you let her read your mind youā€™re the only one she knows has no intention to hurt or use her#like I feel like what Minthara wants most of all is to not have to look over her shoulder or wait for the shoe to drop#like every relationship sheā€™s had as a lolthsworn drow has come with the caveat that everyone will take her out if they have the chance#and if it benefits them even a little#lolth literally encourages this so long as you arenā€™t obvious about it#and lolth will 100% punish you the second she has an excuse to#and then the absolute like while she was being controlled probably felt more like genuine love than Minthara ever experienced#but it came with Orin and punishments for failing#and her being literallly mind controlled into her#so itā€™s still violent and threatening even if the extent of that is only realized after sheā€™s pulled out of it#but then thereā€™s you who pulled her out of that#who can clearly and plainly show her that you have no intention of hurting her even if it benefits you#and who went out of your way to rescue her when no one else she was devoted to ever would#and you offered her the means to not only stay safe from the absolute but to get revenge on it#of course itā€™s ā€˜in your nameā€™ now youā€™re the only person that gave Minthara a reason for her to follow you#that wasnā€™t threats of violence and suffering#you literally gave her the opposite#sheā€™s YOUR paladin it doesnā€™t matter if arenā€™t a god#you could be tho#Minthara#minthara baenre#bg3#baldur's gate 3

Echo is proof that someone out there cares. There will always be people who care and will fight the good fight and will come when they are called. They will go where there are needed. Someone out there is seeing injustice in the world and is doing the work to ensure that as many people as possible can be saved, can be given a chance at a life.
Despite the fact that he's suffered so much already he didn't hang it up and check out. He knows suffering, understands it, and never wants it to happen to anyone else. Everything he went through never made him cold or callous. It didn't make him apathetic to the plight of others. Instead his suffering only made him kinder, stronger, wiser. He knew the clones were suffering and instead of hiding, instead of checking out when he could have, he decided he was going to rescue them. Someone came for him when he needed them. He will do the same for others. And he's connected to a whole network of clones fighting for the same thing. Forming a community, protecting people, creating a life for the clones and making that possible even in incredible dark times.
That feels really difficult to believe sometimes. That someone out there does actually care and will actually do something. But those people exist. There are more of them than you think.
Echo is proof that good still exists. That someone will be in your corner. That no matter what happens you'll always have an ally who will risk everything to give others a chance to survive. The clones have always been such a main focus for him, people he cares so deeply about. He could never sit idly by and let them be experimented on and die at the hands of the empire.
In a galaxy that has forgotten about the clones Echo never has.

A Perfect Date With Gale
@arachnethebard perhaps not what you intended but this is what happened
Since you got to Waterdeep with Gale he's been insistent that the two of you go on a 'perfect' first day... despite the fact that the two of you are already engaged.
Perfection is such a difficult thing to achieve.
1600 words because I'm physically incapable of brevity.
PG (for once)
Gale has been talking about giving you a ā€œproper first dateā€ for entire month you two have been in Waterdeep. Never mind the fact that you two are engaged. Heā€™s been focusing on it near daily. Every time he brings it up you smile and nod. Itā€™s not that you wouldnā€™t enjoy a nice night out exploring the city, but itā€™s not about that.Ā
ā€œTomorrow night,ā€ he announces one night as he enters the study.Ā  Youā€™re petting Tara, tactfully ignoring a light smear of blood around her mouthā€¦ the tower is always miraculously free of rodents.Ā
You find new clothes draped over a bench in the bedroom the following afternoon. You admire them for a moment, almost hesitant to touch them. Theyā€™re finer than anything youā€™ve worn in years, possibly ever. But despite your mild apprehension over the likelihood of destroying them before you step foot out of the tower, you don them. Gale did go through the trouble, and expense, procuring them for you.Ā
Gale greets you outside the room, looking as though heā€™s been waiting the entire time youā€™ve been inside. You chuckle to yourself at the thought, given that it was once just his room.Ā
Heā€™s wearing almost traditional wizardā€™s robes but these are new, a deep maroon with gold accents. Heā€™s begun to stray from the purple he wore almost exclusively when you first met him. There might be something deeper behind that if you dared to think about it for a moment. You know thereā€™s some meaning behind the gold and emerald earring he has in. Your hand instinctively goes to itā€™s other half, resting around your neck.
ā€œShall we?ā€ He offers you his arm, eyes sweeping over your form. His smile tells you heā€™s pleased with the way you look in what heā€™s selected.Ā
You spend much of the walk taking in the city at dusk. Waterdeep is so different from Baldurā€™s Gate, and yet so very similar. Gale happily talks for the both of you.Ā
The building you stopped in front of was beautiful to say the least, all the street facing windows were stained glass in the shape of the cityā€™s crest. The two large heavy doors were opened and a rather bored looking man in fine clothes stood just inside them. The braziers over the steps was brightly polished brass throwing the light far into the road as if beckoning people in.Ā
You were busy, once again, marvelling at the building you at first missed Galeā€™s eyebrows knitting together. He was speaking to the man in the door way, both in hushed tones. The man seemed simply uninterested in whatever Gale was telling him.Ā
ā€œNow Iā€™m positive Iā€™ve reserved a table,ā€ Galeā€™s voice had pitched upwards giving away his apparent distress. ā€œI came down myself a tenday ago and booked it.ā€
You saw a light go on in the bored manā€™s eyes. ā€œAh,ā€ he said nodding, ā€œI see the error. The table you booked is for next year. All our bookings are.ā€
Galeā€™s mouth simply hands open, a light red brushing just above his beard on his cheeks.Ā
ā€œGale,ā€ you say softly, hand going to his arm, ā€œItā€™s fine weā€™ll find something else for tonight and come backā€¦ next year.ā€
You resolutely, do not laugh.
Gale, still flabbergasted into silence, looks between you and the other man. For a moment he looks like he wants to argue with one of you but wisely, wisely, nods to you instead. You lead this time as you turn away from the lovely building.
Gale seems over his shock sometime later and sighs heavily. ā€œItā€™s unlikely weā€™ll find something worthy of our first date tonight.ā€
He sounds so put down your heart breaks for a moment. You donā€™t give into the feeling and instead hook your arm through his. ā€œWhatever we find will be perfect,ā€ you assure him.
He offers you a small, but doubtful smile.Ā
You two wander, arm in arm, in the cool evening air. Gale doesnā€™t really seem to be looking for a new option but you are. And it appears down a dirt-packed road, you grasp his arm and point.Ā
Gale sputters again, ā€œThe Yawning Portal?ā€Ā
He seems incredulous that you would even suggest it.Ā
ā€œWell theyā€™re not likely to turn us away,ā€ you risk a tease, ā€œand besides youā€™ve spoken if it dozens of times. Letā€™s go!ā€
Gale relents almost immediately when you turn to him with pleading eyes, and as soon as he does you nearly drag him down the road. You laugh, out loud this time, when Gale shuffles his coin purse further beneath his robes.Ā
The proprietor barely spares you an eye roll as you two enter in your finery, heā€™s too busy to care. You run directly up to the dry well first and peer down, you canā€™t see anything but darkness. Gale gently redirects you to a table in the corner with an exasperated smile. Once he deems you safely secured into a relatively unoccupied corner he disappears towards the bar. Immediately you love this tavern with its rowdy clientele and atmosphere similar to many you had frequented in Baldurā€™s Gate.Ā
Gale returns with two mugs full of ale. ā€œFood will be out in a moment,ā€ he assures you, near shouting to be heard over the noise.Ā
You beam at him and reluctantly, he grins widely back.
One thing for Waterdeep is even in itā€™s most questionable of places the food is mouthwatering, a testament to Waterdeepā€™s reputation for the finest food on the coast. The two of you huddle together to hear each other without yelling as you eat. Gale surreptitiously points out some of the notable patrons that are there tonight. He lets you watch in rapt interest as a few bold adventurers lower themselves into the dry well, making for the Undermountain. Only once they disappeared did he launch into an explanation of the dungeon they were entering.Ā
Seemingly too soon the food is gone and your mugs empty. You donā€™t want the evening out to end just yet, you realize you miss your own little adventure (perhaps not the constant near-death aspect) and this place helps easy some of the sadness. Besides, as Galeā€™s mugs drained he leaned closer to you, words breathed against your ear and neck as he filled you in on everything he knew.Ā
You offer to get another round, immediately missing the warmth of his body pressed to yours as you stand.Ā
As you return you spot him watching you. The look on his face is openly dreamy, even when he realizes your watching him.Ā
The widening of his eyes is the only warning you receive before you trip into a rather stout dwarf you had somehow missed in your path. Your stumble sends the ale spilling down your front and most unfortunately directly over the dwarfā€™s head.Ā
In an instant heā€™s got both hands wrapped around your arms, the mugs falling to the floor. ā€œNow, what in the hell is wrong with you,ā€ he snarls yanking you forward nearly bending you in half so youā€™re closer to his level.Ā
You havenā€™t even fully registered whatā€™s happened when just as quickly as heā€™d grabbed you, the dwarf is gone.Ā
Not gone, you realize. Instead, heā€™s now pinned against a table by Gale. Heā€™s got one hand on the dwarfā€™s collar holding him and in the other he has a small spark of flame dancing in his palm. His face is dark, both literally and figuratively. Hair loosed by his sudden movements, falling forward and shielding his eyes from you.
Thisā€¦
is new.
ā€œ... made a mistake, no need to get rough,ā€ Gale is speaking and you suddenly realize the roomā€™s gone quiet enough that you can hear him perfectly well despite the distance between you.Ā
In opposition to what heā€™s saying, the flame grows against his palm.Ā
The smell of beer hits you first, your front completely soaked in it. Then the realization that the dwarf is similarly covered sinks in. Gale is more likely to accidentally set the man ablaze than he is to diffuse the situation.Ā
That is what heā€™s trying to do, you hope.Ā
ā€œGale,ā€ you speak just above a whisper, hand coming to rest on his back gently.Ā
You donā€™t want to cause the flame to catch.Ā
ā€œItā€™s alright,ā€ You assure him, hand rubbing in a soothing pattern, ā€œWeā€™re alright. Right?ā€ The last is aimed at the dwarf who is glancing nervously between the flame and you now.
ā€œYeah,ā€ He nods almost imperceptibly, ā€œno harm done.ā€
Whatever had come over him abruptly left Gale, in one movement he both released the dwarf and extinguished the flame.Ā
ā€œWell then,ā€ you nod with an over-enthusiastic smile, ā€œa round for everyone!ā€ The coin pouch you hold up is Galeā€™s.Ā
Everyone is instantly merry, the volume once again rising so you can no longer hear those around you.Ā
ā€œThatā€™s not how I wanted our first date to go,ā€ Gale says much later in the evening as you two are in the bath.Ā
Youā€™re seated between his legs, leaning back against his chest, hand lazily drawing patterns on his knee in the water. Your ruined clothes are discarded on the floor somewhere near. The scent of rosewater is diluted only slightly by the smell of a tavernĀ
The laughter that bursts out of you is unexpected but after a beat even Gale joins in, head dipping back against the edge as he does.Ā
ā€œIt was perfect,ā€ you insist turning your head to look at him.
Both of his eyebrows go up. ā€œFor us,ā€ you amend. You twist just far enough to press a kiss to his lips.Ā
He hums against your mouth. ā€œYou still smell like you bathed in ale,ā€ he teases, nose wrinkling.

What have you done?
based on an idea @username8746489 had where sylvie discovered nightmare fuel for the first time on accident while getting bullied by some older kids (and pushing him further into social isolation now that he's known as "that scary kid who could summon someone's worst fear")
#ā™¦ļøcharlie's art#epithet erased#sylvester ashling#sylvie ashling#ok i have a lot to yap about here hold on#this was a challenge to make since i was imagining it with no dialogue and limited colors i hope i pulled it off#because of those two things something i had to think a lot about was how the color progression changes the mood#I wasn't originally gonna add that last panel with the aftermath but un suggested the idea of the bullies being vague shadowy figures#initially until sylvie realizes what he did and is forced to see that ā€œthat was a real person with their own fears and insecuritiesā€#so then they're drawn more detailed#sylvie and the bullies also aren't in the same panels together until the last one because he's just so below them that he isnt worthy of#sharing equal space with them. these kids are highschoolers. if sylvie wants to look at them he'll always have to look up#and also because i was struggling with their height difference#i hope the second page doesn't make it look too much like sylvie summoned a fire šŸ˜ it kinda helps with the mood but what he summoned is#supposed to be ambiguous and i dont want it to look like i was born yesterday and think nightmare fuel ONLY summone fire#but its hard to make it NOT look like fire when i can only work with orange#the lineart starts out clean and gets messier as the conflict progresses to represent a lack of control#and also it creates kind of a shakey/unstable effect which emphasizes sylvie's fear#also unintentional but i think the second page having detailed shading emphasizes the mood changes. this just got SERIOUS#oh also i used the mizu5 untrained as a color reference thats fun#ALSO SYLVIE DIDN'T KILL ANYONE im just realizing the one curled up in the last panel could be interpreted that way#that's not what i was going for#this might be unrealistic...... but we also know so little about sylvie's backstory that who's to say for sure IDK LET ME MAKE MY FAV SUFFER

šŸ”® Crystal Ball- What kind of future does your OC want to have? What would they do to make it real?
About dftr sun and moon vuv
The future they want is the past they once had.Ā
Their life had been simple, but they wouldnā€™t have given it up for anything. Creating and exchanging crafts with each other, playing in the river, stopping (and starting) food fights in the dining hall, walking through nature to study every branch, every funny shaped rock, every bird that soared overhead. Singing songs in the morning. Telling ghost stories at night. Skits and campfires and making memories. Teaching the kids everything they could, and learning from them, too.Ā
It was by no means perfect, no life ever is, but it was all they had ā€” and they loved every minute. They would have been happy to stay like this for the rest of their lives.
What would they do to make it real?
Anything.
They would hide themselves away for a decade, watching from afar as life continued on without them. They would pay dearly for a crime they did not commit. They would let themselves fall into ruin. They would speak with the animals if only to ease the loneliness for just a few minutes. They would dirty their hands. They would become the monsters that their campfire stories foretold. They would risk everything to make the hurt stop, to quiet the grief that has haunted them for years.
They would kill for it.

been spending my time watching fangs of fortune since i actually have time and. man.
it's such a potent picture of tragedy, isn't it? watching it gives me that same feeling desolation that i get when i read a particular type of poem. not quite grief, but the show is so heavy with grief. each case might be "solved" but there is only bittersweetness, if that, in it. all demon love stories seem doomed for tragedy - ran yi and miss qi, the human and the demon, cheng huang and the original baize goddess, trapped in wooden dolls, fei and qing geng, freedom at a meaningless cost. the focus on the destruction of the core, the desire for li lun to destroy zhu yan's core...
it's bleak. the show does a great job of uplifting the mood with bits of humor and warmth, but there's no denying that you know that tragedy is always, always lurking around the corner.

I donā€™t even fully know why but ā€œwhat do I do when I miss you so much?ā€ / ā€œJust wait, and pray desperatelyā€ was a knife to my heart in the best way.
#crash landing on you#my grandma once said most of life was waiting and praying#and when he said it it just resonated so deeply#I think because. itā€™s not like a revelation or anything#but I think itā€™s just because she was suffering so much and had suffered so much#and so in that moment#he just takes care of her so completely and gives her hope. and not a false hope#a true one#and on deeper reflection the ending does work within the context of this (in my opinion) most powerful scene#/ apex of the show#itā€™s just the tone thatā€™s a little wrong. thatā€™s too aesthetic-y.#because the kind of steady way he keeps taking care of her from afar. and the slow build of her recovering but continuing to hope#couldnā€™t lead them anywhere except a happy ending. even if the final pieces of it couldnā€™t be unraveled (or put together)#by the showā€™s writing. so it just kind of has to fade to black so to speak#because the characters have been so steady and consistent a) in their personalities motivations and desires#and b) in their love for each other! that never falters or betrays a false note#and itā€™s the truest thing youā€™re left with. which is whyā€”againā€”I actually think the problem might have been the tone#I would have gone for something more muted. I would have had them be talking and/or arguing a little more in their old way#to keep and sustain the idea that there is more work ahead for them that weā€™re just not going to see#but that is ultimately a kind of nitpick. and the take me to the lakes vibe of that final#scene is also not untrue.#also circling back for a second can I just SAY. that I love the balance of their vulnerabilities#there are such clear and distinct times where one of them is stronger and the other more vulnerable#and itā€™s sooooo perfect to watch and gives you many instant layers#anyway Iā€™m crying in this Chiliā€™s tonight (*my bed at 7:00 am)
