Okay if we need even more bizarre parallels on the topic of similarities between Ying Lei & Zhao Yuanzhou and Bai Jiu & Zhuo Yichen, here are a few more. The continuation of this thread.

Bai Jiu got possessed by Li Lun and was carrying him inside his body - Zhuo Yichen also got Li Lun's powers and was carrying part of him inside his body in the last episodes.

Ying Lei died, pierced by Li Lun while protecting Bai Jiu - Zhao Yuanzhou died carrying Li Lun's power inside of him while protecting Zhuo Yichen (and all those other people).

Metaphorically and psychologically speaking, Li Lun did 'kill' Zhao Yuanzhou's younger self when they broke up and Zhao Yuanzhou's timeline turned into a very distinct before/after, disconnecting him from both his past and his former happier self (thanks @kseniyagreen for pointing this out).

And, in a way, Ying Lei sacrificing his life for Bai Jiu is very much similar to Zhao Yuanzhou sacrificing his life for Zhuo Yichen during that freezing scene when he still went after ZYC to save him.

Also, these two slightly mirroring scenes.

And while we're talking about parallels - there's this hint to Zhao Yuanzhou being the reincarnation of Ying Long even before we see him. This straight bloody line has been bugging me for a while now :D

if I had a nickel for every time a piece of media I enjoy had a detective with a partner who had been dead since the beginning of the series but affected the characters life in a big way, heavy homosexual vibes in the relationship with said former partner, a broken and failed family relationship, and a foreign entity or person from another world controlling said detectives body I'd have two nickels which isn't a lot but it's weird that it has happened twice, right?

The ears are definitely the part of the head that I've been dreading the most, because I've always struggled to make them work. I was never 100% satisfied with the ear results on past heads, so this time I'm trying a different method. It's based on TinnatuPaws's ear patterns, not actually printing and using any of them directly because I wanted that front border to have a slightly different shape, but taking the general method/idea. Took a couple hours to put together a working pattern because I only had a vague idea of what I was doing, and I guess the final look is pretty similar to TinnatuPaws's canine ear design anyways so perhaps it would've been easier to just use that one directly but w/e too late now. I think it turned out pretty alright, but of course the real test will come once I actually put fur on it.

These ears also probably look a tad on the large side for a standard housecat--that was intentional; I'm a bit worried about this head base being a bit too small compared to the other parts of the suit so I'm gonna try compensating by exaggerating the ears, head floof, and cheek floofs a bit. This base already has proportionally very large eyes so I think I can get away with it. Fingers crossed!

I did try on my previous head with the new body the other day to get a better idea of the size ratio and it looked alright, though while the base for my previous head is similar in size to this new one, I do think it might be sliiiiiightly larger overall, even accounting for the fact that it has fur and this one doesn't yet. Hopefully the difference won't be all that significant and I won't be walking around with a comically tiny head, but as with the ear method, the real test won't be till I actually fur it. So....we shall see.

shot in the dark has so many great little character things that are jokes but not, but one of my favorites is shawn's habit of renting places that are not apartments because they're defunct businesses because the rent is cheaper. lines up nicely with his history of odd jobs that he does because they look interesting and then he gets bored of. and it also tracks that he wouldn't live somewhere longer than a year despite having the means to do so, because what's he gonna do with an apartment??? cook dinner in it???? his dad hatessss this but short of actually dragging shawn to see prospective places there's nothing he can do, and this is an activity neither of them would enjoy. so like he currently lives at a dry cleaner's that still has a moveable clothes rack. and is breathing in probably so many toxic chemicals every day

One thing I rly hate in fandoms is ooc angst just be for the sake of having angst. It gets to the point where a lot of angst is corny to me bcuz ppl just make it to be emo without considering whether or not it actually aligns with canon

Kou Minamoto is one of the biggest examples of this that I’ve seen. There are so many angst posts abt him being sad that Nene is with Hanako, when he acts the exact opposite way in canon. The only time he’s really acted jealous over her was when Teru flirted with her, and that was more because he felt betrayed by his brother. He didn’t seem upset at all when Hanako crashed their “date” in Yako’s boundary, in fact he was perfectly happy to let Hanako tag along

There is plenty of angst to be made with Kounene, especially considering Nene’s short lifespan. Since the ship is treated as the designated “healthy” pairing in the fandom I also don’t see a lot of talk about how Kou’s savior complex would negatively impact their relationship. There’s just so much to talk about with them outside of the whole “Kou is sad because Nene has a boyfriend” thing. Kou has a boyfriend too so like, now what?? I’ll admit I’m very biased here, I don’t like the unrequited love trope very much. The angst that goes along with it isn’t really my cup of tea, so whenever I make Kounene fics/posts they’re almost always from Nene’s pov with her liking him back. It’s not that it’s too sad for me it’s just kinda lukewarm?? And some of it gives Nice Guy vibes idk. The way I see it, if one character isn’t interested then that’s where the relationship ends, so I don’t see the point in shipping anything that’s completely one-sided. Not trying to yuck anyone’s yums, this is just a preference

Anyways Kounene is a really good ship with a lot of potential besides just being “sad boy Kou hours.” There is another character that Kou gets very possessive over but for once this ain’t about them so I’m directing my attention towards Kounene. And preferences aside, I’d rather the angst just be in character. Teru is a character that gets very mopey about his crush being one-sided, so a lot of these Kounene angst posts would work great with him and Aoi or Akane. Again, it’s not my favorite trope in the world but I can see how it would make sense with him. But for Kounene I think there’s so much angst (and fluff) potential we’ve been missing out on by reusing the same trope. Let’s get creative with it!
