New Year's Resolutions
Remember to take my meds, and make myself do so even when I'm feeling like shit
Continue to write down my thoughts frequently, albeit not daily, but most days
Socialize with people more! Set up dates. Go to events. Take walks. Anything.
Continue reading from my local library, anything that interests me. And try to focus on one book at a time.
Create more art. Color. Make bad art. Just create something on a regular basis.

never will there be a better genre of media than “you can only get anything close to a fresh impression of this once when you first encounter it because knowing what happens next gives you entirely new understanding of what happened before”
like anything that you need an actual mind wipe to enjoy the same way as you did the first time. for it to be just as emotionally devastating. for every twist and turn to make you feel the same.

I know that the average person’s opinion of AI is in a very tumultuous spot right now - partly due to misinformation and misrepresentation of how AI systems actually function, and partly because of the genuine risk of abuse that comes with powerful new technologies being thrust into the public sector before we’ve had a chance to understand the effects; and I’m not necessarily talking about generative AI and data-scraping, although I think that conversation is also important to have right now. Additionally, the blanket term of “AI” is really very insufficient and only vaguely serves to ballpark a topic which includes many diverse areas of research - many of these developments are quite beneficial for human life, such as potentially designing new antibodies or determining where cancer cells originated within a patient that presents complications. When you hear about artificial intelligence, don’t let your mind instantly gravitate towards a specific application or interpretation of the tech - you’ll miss the most important and impactful developments.
Notably, NVIDIA is holding a keynote presentation from March 18-21st to talk about their recent developments in the field of AI - a 16 minute video summarizing the “everything-so-far” detailed in that keynote can be found here - or in the full 2 hour format here. It’s very, very jargon-y, but includes information spanning a wide range of topics: healthcare, human-like robotics, “digital-twin” simulations that mirror real-world physics and allow robots to virtually train to interact and navigate particular environments — these simulated environments are built on a system called the Omniverse, and can also be displayed to Apple Vision Pro, allowing designers to interact and navigate the virtual environments as though standing within them. Notably, they’ve also created a digital sim of our entire planet for the purpose of advanced weather forecasting. It almost feels like the plot of a science-fiction novel, and seems like a great way to get more data pertinent to the effects of global warming.
It was only a few years ago that NVIDIA pivoted from being a “GPU company” to putting a focus on developing AI-forward features and technology. A few very short years; showing accelerating rates of progress. This is whenever we began seeing things like DLSS and ray-tracing/path-tracing make their way onto NVIDIA GPUs; which all use AI-driven features in some form or another. DLSS, or Deep-Learning Super Sampling, is used to generate and interpolate between frames in a game to boost framerate, performance, visual detail, etc - basically, your system only has to actually render a handful of frames and AI generates everything between those traditionally-rendered frames, freeing up resources in your system. Many game developers are making use of DLSS to essentially bypass optimization to an increasing degree; see Remnant II as a great example of this - runs beautifully on a range of machines with DLSS on, but it runs like shit on even the beefiest machines with DLSS off; though there are some wonky cloth physics, clipping issues, and objects or textures “ghosting” whenever you’re not in-motion; all seem to be a side effect of AI-generation as the effect is visible in other games which make use of DLSS or the AMD-equivalent, FSR.
Now, NVIDIA wants to redefine what the average data center consists of internally, showing how Blackwell GPUs can be combined into racks that process information at exascale speeds — which is very, very fucking fast — speeds like that have only ever actually been achieved on some 4 or 5 machines on the planet, and I think they’ve all been quantum-based machines until now; not totally certain. The first exascale computer came into existence in 2022, called Frontier, it was deemed the fastest supercomputer in existence in June 2023 - operating at some 1.19 exaFLOPS. Notably, this computer is around 7,300 sq ft in size; reminding me of the space-race era supercomputers which were entire rooms. NVIDIA’s Blackwell DGX SuperPOD consists of around 576 GPUs and operates at 11.5 exaFLOPS, and is about the size of standard row of server racks - much smaller than an entire room, but still quite large. NVIDIA is also working with AWS to produce Project Ceiba, another supercomputer consisting of some 20,000GPUs, promising 400 exaFLOPS of AI-driven computation - it doesn’t exist yet.
To make my point, things are probably only going to get weirder from here. It may feel somewhat like living in the midst of the Industrial Revolution, only with fewer years in between each new step. Advances in generative-AI are only a very, very small part of that — and many people have already begun to bury their heads in the sand as a response to this emerging technology - citing the death of authenticity and skill among artists who choose to engage with new and emerging means of creation. Interestingly, the Industrial Revolution is what gave birth to modernism, and modern art, as well as photography, and many of the concerns around the quality of art in this coming age-of-AI and in the post-industrial 1800s largely consist of the same talking points — history is a fucking circle, etc — but historians largely agree that the outcome of the Industrial Revolution was remarkably positive for art and culture; even though it took 100 years and a world war for the changes to really become really accepted among the artists of that era. The Industrial Revolution allowed art to become detached from the aristocratic class and indirectly made art accessible for people who weren’t filthy rich or affluent - new technologies and industrialization widened the horizons for new artistic movements and cultural exchanges to occur. It also allowed capitalist exploitation to ingratiate itself into the western model of society and paved the way for destructive levels of globalization, so: win some, lose some.
It isn’t a stretch to think that AI is going to touch upon nearly every existing industry and change it in some significant way, and the events that are happening right now are the basis of those sweeping changes, and it’s all clearly moving very fast - the next level of individual creative freedom is probably only a few years away. I tend to like the idea that it may soon be possible for an individual or small team to create compelling artistic works and experiences without being at the mercy of an idiot investor or a studio or a clump of illiterate shareholders who have no real interest in the development of compelling and engaging art outside of the perceived financial value that it has once it exists.
If you’re of voting age and not paying very much attention to the climate of technology, I really recommend you start keeping an eye on the news for how these advancements are altering existing industries and systems. It’s probably going to affect everyone, and we have the ability to remain uniquely informed about the world through our existing connection with technology; something the last Industrial Revolution did not have the benefit of. If anything, you should be worried about KOSA, a proposed bill you may have heard about which would limit what you can access on the internet under the guise of making the internet more “kid-friendly and safe”, but will more than likely be used to limit what information can be accessed to only pre-approved sources - limiting access to resources for LGBTQ+ and trans youth. It will be hard to stay reliably informed in a world where any system of authority or government gets to spoon-feed you their version of world events.

REF SHEET JUMPSCARE
fun facts/context/things that didn't fit on the sheet under a read more!
raph's chew stim necklace was a gift from mikey. he goes through them like once a month MAX
mikey's 'more sensitive to mystics' thing isn't necessarily plot relevant just a fun tidbit. he gets it from draxum's side /hj
donnie is officially the older twin now HOWEVER prior to the invasion they didn't know which of them was and would have some completely arbitrary criteria or competition (a la rock paper scissors) to decide every time someone asked. the criteria was different EVERY time and ONLY made sense to them
one time after witnessing this draxum tried to tell them who was older and they both chewed him out. it's not about who's actually older it's about the PRINCIPLE
in this canon the invasion took place aroundddd six months after shredder round two
i REFUSE to believe donnie wouldn't build his techbo/other tech stuff that got destroyed again. he would NOT solely use mystics you cannot convince me. my reasoning for why he did in the movie is that he was too focused on trying to bring back shelldon to worry about his other tech stuff
SPEAKING OF SHELLDON. idk that it'll come up in the fic directly so basically: donnie spent a while trying to bring him back and wasn't able to during that time, and then... didn't give up exactly but got super discouraged and 'took a break' from working on him
'took a break' aka saying he would get back to it but not actually doing that because he refused to admit he was really just scared it would end with concrete proof that it wasn't possible. at least this way he doesn't know for sure that shelldon is gone forever (even if he also doesn't know for sure that he isn't)
schroedingers shelldon basically
and then the invasion happened and everything went to shit. shelldon is still sitting in donnie's lab somewhere though -- he luckily didn't have any parts donnie needed for the portal that he couldn't get from something else

suddenly there’s sunlight all around me
written for @smilehoneyy - happiest of birthdays to you, beloved <3
“Let’s skip "S” tonight,” Langa suggested, and Reki’s head shot up.
“What?”
“You’re in pain,” Langa stated. “Skating will make it worse. So let’s stay in tonight. My mom is working the nightshift, so it’ll just be us.”
That sounded "really” nice, they hadn’t really had a relaxing night with just the two of them in awhile. His back was practically preening at the idea of staying in and not skating. “But, you love "S”” Reki pointed out. “And everyone’s expecting us. Doesn’t Cherry have a beef tonight? You should go, at least.”
Langa shrugged. “I don’t mind missing. Besides, "S” isn’t as fun without you. And that’s what skating’s about, right? Having fun?”

Swap au Kim gets drunk and there's a sweet spot in which he's having the time of his life and manages to forget all that's fucked up in his existence just going with the flow and everyone besides him no matter who they are and how the treat him, but less drunk than that and he'll get sober too soon and everythings gonna hit him all at once making him feel twice as miserable, or he'll get even more drunk to the point it completely switches and the happiness and getting along with whoevers nearby morphs into over trusting and sad and as soon as someone is like "look man you're not fine you should go home" he takes it too personal and won't be against getting into fights

Fight drabble under the cut :)
Lights come to life with your entrance. Bright whites sparkling above the caged arena, glimmering off the metal wiring, catching on the contours of your face the closer you step. Your head angles to the side, crack, then to the other, crack. A roll of the shoulders, exhale through the nostrils, and eyes on the prize - a singular man standing in the center of the arena, looking far too smug with himself when he sees you. Like he thinks he'll win. You have no intentions of letting that happen.
Coach stays just outside the cage of your side, staring you down the way a father would his son, and you can't help but to grin his way when you glance back.
A few minutes go by, the typical announcement accompanied by your name and his, the bump of knuckles to knuckles. His eyes never leave your face, like he's willing himself to say something and when he does -- a very snotty "ready to give up that title, princess?" -- and you simply stare in silence until he clams up. You really weren't going to say anything, really, but you hear Damien yelling your name and suddenly you can't swallow down that pride of yours. The blacks of your eyes dilate, swallowing up part of the sclera and, matched with that so very wide grin, it's enough for your opponent's expression to fall.
"Nah, I got someone to impress tonight, baby girl. But I'll gladly send you home with some parting gifts."
That must have set something off, because he's throwing the first punch the moment the referee steps out of the way; of which you dodge with ease, feigning left with the right fist striking his jaw. The crowd erupts, screams of your name, the cheers and jeers, and you soak it all in; admiring your work when your opponent falters from the hit. It's a split second, but it gives you enough time to kick out and land a blow against his side. He crumbles in on himself the slightest and you take that extra opportunity to get another hit in, raising your right arm and jabbing a hard strike against his nose. And, oh, the crunch it produces is music to your ears.
The poor thing, how he stumbles back and tries to gather himself. Try being the key word, as he's sloppy in his next move - another punch, as if the first one even did anything, and you lift your arms to shield your face. It's then that you hear Damien cheer for you, scream your name--
--and you end the fight with a final blow aimed directly at that shit-spewing mouth. He collapses back, blood smeared across a broken nose and split lips, flecks of it drying on your knuckles. Everything happens at once after that: the crowd roars in victory (or your fans do, at least), rising to their feet with violent claps and bloodthirsty grins, like they wanted more. But you're barely paying them any attention. No, when you're announced the winner, you're stood center-stage, staring down the one person in the crowd that matters.
There will surely be rewards tonight.

God, I wish there was more time in the day. There’s so much I’m excited to do, make, learn and practice… and at the same time, of course, I still need to do necessary life things like cooking or sleeping… I know it’ll take some time to really get the hang of decent time management for it all but I’ll figure it out somehow. ;u;
So, here’s a list of goals I’ll look back on in February 2023 to see if I’ve accomplished them:
• Continue streaming 3x a week
• Work out at least 3x a week
• Practice drawing to make a bunch more emotes
• Learn to rig, finish at least 1 practice model
• Practice singing often and write lyric ideas down even if they’re bad and cringe!
• Fully design the look/feel of stream overlay
• Have lore mostly finished and written
• Learn to animate, make at least 2 animated emotes
• Learn a little bit of video editing for at least minimal things
• Implement at least 2 new channel point redeems, something fun and cute!
• Sleep more, at least 7 hours a night!! 💦

Just made two of my playlists public and I am so nervous (even though maybe only like two people will come across them haha, and they won’t even know how intimate it is). I feel like there are knots in my stomach. I’ve been working on them every day for just over two consecutive weeks, for multiple hours on end on some of those days. The songs were very carefully chosen, going through many revisions of the story and message I wanted to tell, yet with an attempt of giving justice to the inspiration behind it.
These two playlists and majority of their songs are so personal to me that it feels like I am baring myself to the world. I have always wanted to make playlists with these themes (but kept private for myself), yet never got around to making them. So thank you to Jean Moreau and Jeremy Knox for giving me the movement to actually make these playlists. These two characters are the inspirations of the playlists, and their characters and story have always been kept in my mind as the foundation, but I also put in as much of me, of my own story and thoughts, into it as well as I could. So thank you also for that space.
The first playlist was made with Jean Moreau in mind. A story of survival. Of deep pain. Of loneliness that seems endless. Of abuse. Of succumbing to the pain and numbness, accepting it and craving it even, because it’s a messed up sense of comfort with it being a constant presence we know. Of endurance and holding on through it all. Of healing. Of hoping for change, hoping to be okay, and reaching for help. Of freedom, and learning how to breathe with and through the pain. Of falling down, multiple times, but coming back up each time even if it may take a while because we know we deserve better. Some of the songs chosen were songs that I have listened to since I was a child when I couldn’t see or believe there was any light. They were (and still are) the songs that I cried along to and help me to feel a little less alone while I was silently screaming fighting crying to be heard. Hope is without a doubt a fragile thing, but if we ever feel it, we have to grab on as tightly as we can. The songs in this playlist are ordered into a story, intended to be played without shuffling, which I think is unintentionally fitting with Jean’s personality and structured approach. The backliner. The defenseman. The survivor.
The second playlist was made with Jeremy Knox in mind. Sunshine, hope, and positivity personified. Some people seem to be naturally kind, but I have always believed that kindness is also a choice, seen through action and conscious thought. With enough work, it can become as instinctive as breathing. Choosing to actively do the right thing, to being there, to caring, to giving chances, to wanting to see the good in things and people. Choosing kindness despite despite despite it all. In face of it all. Without a doubt, there is always going to be times where we encounter challenging moments, and we’ll falter and fall, but it’s about the want and the trying and the choice to see the brighter side of things and not giving up in ourselves and others. This playlist is also pretty gay, with a few gay songs, because of course it will be. He’s gay, I’m gay, and queerness is a good and resoundingly amazing thing! It’s a playlist of being a figure of unwavering support and holding belief in humanity. Of happiness, of comfort, of strength, of care, of love in all its forms. Again, some songs chosen were also songs that I have listened to since I was a child, when I needed my hand to be held. I still do at times. The songs in this playlist are put in without order, to be or not to be shuffled, which I think is also unintentionally fitting with Jeremy’s personality and flexible approach. The striker. The captain. The believer.
Both playlists include reflections of my story (Jean) and thoughts (Jeremy), though of course not perfect. But it’s there at its core, in soul, which is why I feel so exposed. I feel both excited and apprehensive of the idea that someone may be listening to my interpretation of their stories as well as my own story. They are public now, because maybe, just maybe, someone will enjoy and find comfort in them as well. Maybe it’s also a way for me to reach out—to help and be helped, because we aren’t alone, and that’s the whole message of it all, isn’t it?
