AO3Downloader my beloved is now working perfectly on Linux after literally a minute of following the Mac directions (wow that's a nice trick to know), so now I'm back to the system of:

Downloading all my bookmarks/marked for laters with AO3Downloader (which requires FAR less babysitting than FanFicFare, you just set it lose and forget it)

Dropping them into Calibre for actual reading/sorting

Profit (have all your favs and to-reads on hand when AO3 goes down or an author deletes something)

Calibre also lets you run a content server out of it, so you can browse all your fics from any other device. Which is REAL NICE.

would you mind talking about how you (currently) back up fanfics to read when AO3 is down? I've been thinking about trying it myself (now that I have a hard disk with enough space) but I have no idea how.

Le current system (all programs are free):

Get yourself Calibre (available for every OS)

Install the FanFicFare plugin, which allows you to go to any page on AO3 (and dozens of other sites) and download every fic there in the background while you do other things with your life

Profit. AKA: Archive every fic you even vaguely like because fics are text-based and take up barely any space, and calibre allows searching by tags similarly to AO3. I personally just bookmark everything I read and liked, and then periodically run FanFicFare on my newest bookmark pages. There is really no need to be discriminating here; I have never regretted having Moar Fics, and calibre makes things exceptionally searchable (and you can customize the tags once you've downloaded, for further fic findability)

When I was on Windows I preferred AO3downloader, which runs on Python and can go through all your bookmarks without input from you (FanFicFare needs to be told what the next page is; AO3 Downloader just starts at page 1 and goes until the page you tell it to stop on); AO3 Downloader also uses AO3's original download format (it literally just automates hitting the site's download button), whereas FanFicFare does a custom output (which you can tweak if desired, but it will never be exactly the same. Note that it works totally fine out of the box I'm just grumpy it's not Exactly The Same.) I couldn't get AO3 Downloader working on Linux, alas.

(If anyone knows how to get AO3 Downloader working on Linux Mint, or knows a calibre plugin that just automates clicking the AO3 download button, do please let me know.)

Yandere Haikyuu x Reader x Yandere Kuroko No Basketball

A/N: Hear me out.. What if reader was the twin sister of Tobio Kageyama? I mean neglected twin sister? If you wanna know, give it a read..

Imagine being the twin sister of a Vollyball prodigy, where your achivements were always overshadowed by his, all the parties were about him, celebrating him and most of all Loving him. Everything was about him, your twin, The perfect child, Kageyama Tobio. And there you were the imperfect one.

Growing up with him was nice, well until elementary, until he made his debute as a vollyball player, everything was perfect, no competition for anything. Everything was divided equally. But after Tobio started playing vollyball and everything became a competition, from love to celebrations.

Even though you both were born on the same day, there was now only one cake, vollyball themed, his favorite flavor, gifts for him. Nothing for you... When it started in 2nd grade, you just believed that your present must have been lost in the mail or the bakery messed up you cake, but as the years passed you realized the pattern. Never once did the bakery mess up Tobio's cake, or never once did his gifts get lost in the mail. As a last ditch effort to gain your grandfather's and older sister's attention, you started playing vollyball. Again at fist you got the attention you craved for, but again you fell behind and your family again started focusing on Tobio, ignoring you again.

The neglect got worse when you entered Junior High, and along with the neglect there was bullying too by an upperclassman who had it out for your twin, Oikawa Tooru. Even after he graduated, the bullying didn't stop, because "since Oikawa-senpai bullied you means you deserved it". It was hell for you, while your brother stayed blissfully unaware.

In the second year, your gandpa had passed so it was just you and your siblings, it didn't affect you as much as you thought it would. But for the other two, it was hard since they were close.

Then came the devestating news, Due to overworking yourself, it caused an injury, an injury that could criple you if you continued to play.

They weren't even at the hospital when you got this news. And this was the last straw for you. You did stop playing, not that you were truly able to enjoy it due to the constant expectation and pressure you faced to keep up with your brother. You may not have had talent for vollyball, but academically? you were on a level of your own. You had many unpublished Novels too but they needed to be edited and you were going to ask someone to read it before you were truly going to publish it.

You took scholarship exams for everywhere except Miyagi for high school, you need to get a fresh start, away from the people you knew. You did get a full academic scholarship to a school that recently opened in Tokyo, Seirin High School. You accepted it.

You decided to become a content creator, specifically a Gamer, to provide for yourself. You made an online friend in this chaos, while getting used to playing the video games, applepi.

He went to Nekoma High School in Tokyo and was happy to know that you would move to Tokyo for your education.

Your steams were doing great and now you had a good amount saved up.

You then decided it was time to tell your siblings or your departure. You called you sister and invited her for dinner. She agreed and talked about not seeing you and your brother in a while. You called Tobio and asked him to end practice early and join dinner that will be held the evening appoaching.

You prepared a variety of dishes, and some drinks too. When they both arrived and began eating, you broke the news.

You looked at them, waiting for a reaction. Your sister was stunned but you didn't expect your brother to stat yelling angrily. He looked like you told him it was you who killed their grandfather or something.

He was yelling things that could only be described as incohearent. After his episode, he started crying alot with fat tears and snot poring down.

It surprised you and you immediately went to comfort him, you were never able to hate him. I mean why would you? He was just doing what he loved, it was the adults fault for your neglect.

He took while to calm down but he kept repeating 'You can't leave me, Please.' You felt guilty but it was your future, and you knew if you stayed in Miyagi you won't be able to get out of the shell. You tried to reason with him but he didn't budge, acting like a toddler who refused to give up his toy.

Your sister intervened, stating that it would be expensive to live in a big city and it will probably be out of our budget since Tobio requires money for his equipment and camp trips that he would take in the future.

You reassured her money won't be a problem, since you got a scholarship, meaning you didn't need to pay a dime. The only catch was that you would need to join an after school club, more specifically a sports club. She asked about the living arrangements since your school does not provide dormetories. You told her that one of your friends had found you a cheap apartment near your school. (The said apartment was owned by Kenma, hence the cheap rent, but you don't need to know that) You also don't need to know that he has camera and bugs set up in that apartment

Tobio and Miwa (you older sister) were about to tell you it was a bad idea and Miwa was about going to refuse paying for it, but before they could say anything, you told them you already had a job and can pay for it yourselves.

They were stunned and Tobio started hugging you even tighter. You reassured him that you would visit and try to be at all his games but he just said,

"It won't be the same without you at school"

To which you do agree since you won't be there to tutor him and give him your notes. Your sister reluctantly agreed, and even if she didn't you were going to leave anyway so it didn't matter much.

You moving day was 1 week away and during that week Tobio refused to leave your side, still trying to get you to stay, even if he didn't say it, his body language gave the message clearly. He stated hiding your things, and when you found the things he looked like a lost puppy.

On the last day, Tobio gave you a gift.. A Bugged Phone. You thanked him but did enquire about how he got the money, he told you he had used his allowance since he never used it. You were happy that finally accepted your decision.(He didn't)

You moved about 2 weeks before school stats to get settled, You move in the apartment that your friend applepi, whose real name was Kozome Kenma was gracious help you find. He was also kind enough to show you around the city and major landmarks you needed to remembered. You soon got to know your neighbour who was also a student at the same high school as you, his name was Kagami Taiga.

He and you became friends quite quickly and he introduced to basketball.

And soon School started.

You joined the basketball club as a manger and found it fun since there was no expectations to out do anyone. You also became close to Taiga and his 'shadow' Kuroko Tetsuya. You still hung out with Kenma and streamed online with him on his or your channel, your identity was hidden and you went by an alias, Etsu. You were only called that online and other than Kenma no one knows about your identity.

You met Kenma's team, who were very shocked at Kenma having a friend other than them, much less a beauty like you.

You also met Tetsuya's former team mates who were called The Generation Of Miracle.

You talked to Tobio every night without fail or else he would bombard your phone and also said he would show up at your house if you didn't pick up his calls.(How though? you didn't tell tell him your address?)

You didn't realize it then but your friends were now acting strange.... They were overprotective and always watching you, and you don't know why?

Also your brother was also acting weirdly clingy...

He did introduce you to his friends when you went to visit him, he acted.. Different.

He also told you about people he would go against. One of them was Oikawa-senpai

He was especially clingy when you both accidently ran into Oikawa and Iwaizumi while returning from the cafe you wanted to try.

Wait now that you mention it, Oikawa-senpai and Iwaizumi-senpai were also acting odd, so friendly, as if they didn't make your life hell in Jr high.

What is up with everyone?

“who do you think the author sympathizing with, the monster or victor?” and who should us, the reader, should sympathize with, the mother or the son? skip to loafer is, once again, making us see the two sides of the same coin.

honestly, this was a chapter i had been waiting for a long time. i always wanted to know a little more about how shima saw his mother's role in all of this. not only in the way she treated him, but also how she acted on set and behaved in front of the entire crew. in my mind, shima's mother's role had a certain level of obscurity, something that hadn't been explored very well yet, since he himself needs to understand everything that happened to him over so many years. i still have more questions about her, but that's for the next chapter.

i like how shima's past and present are battling in this chapter — and they don't happen separately, but rather interconnected, as if they were on the same battlefield, even though they are rivals.

the beginning of the chapter resumes the rehearsals for the play for the school festival, and with that we can see a little more of the doubts that shima has regarding his character (the monster) and the play in general. just as shima begins to change and mature, his understanding and absorption of the story also begin to undergo slight changes. he still sees himself very much as the monster and understands all his suffering and can indeed understand where his obsession with his creator comes from, but he also begins to have a notion of a slightly more distant view, of an author who writes two characters full of gray areas.

shima then begins to wonder which character he should sympathize with more: the monster or victor? him or his mother? present or past?

the unfolding of the chapter further interconnects shima's own story with that of the play in which he is so immersed. upon meeting his past (chris and ririka), the present shima, someone who’s ever-considerate as kanechika-senpai would say, feels an immense need to open his eyes and see from the outside; see not only the monster, but also victor. to understand the root of the monster's obsession with his creator and finally open doors to forgive this great scientist who did him so much harm, he sees no other way than to face all the essential elements of his painful past in order to live a peaceful present.

however, what is most painful about all of this is that in order to come face to face with the past and understand the victor’s point of view, shima also needs to acknowledge the pain of the person who hurt him the most throughout his childhood: his mother.

it is not so strange that shima felt empathy or pity for his mother. after all, even though he is still a very closed person, he has always shown himself to be a very empathetic with others, trying to help them as long as he does not need to expose himself too much. with his mother, the person who was by his side for so long, it would be no different.

shima is able to acknowledge the pain that his mother carried for so long. he knows, deep down, that everything he suffered was a consequence of her trauma, of a pressure that she herself could no longer control and ended up emptying all of it on him. this doesn't mean that he has to accept it or not question it at any time, that’s exactly what he is doing now, something that it was so hard for him to do before. when you're a child, the only way to get attention and try to make that person you love so much look at you for real is to commit a destructive act of rebellion; it's to try to run away as much as you can and, as a consequence, be deceived by people with bad intentions, who lead you to a much greater ruin.

he is not an idiot for seeing his mother's side and trying to understand her, but he also does not need to forgive her without thinking and forgetting everything that happened. he is not an idiot for looking at his mother and acknowledging her pain. but he also needs to stop losing himself and finally find the forgiveness he so desperately needs.

searching for the past is talking to the present. meeting taiga again is reopening one of his wounds just so that it can heal properly. for shima to be able to understand frankenstein once and for all, he also needs to embrace his inner monster and try to reconnect once again with the scientist who raised him.

and both the past and the present are also in people. his group of friends is felix's family who welcomed him with so much love and affection. his past is chris and ririka who hug him tightly and cry for him, knowing all the pain that will never go away. the past is being able to stand next to ririka and feel the love of the friend he thought he would never get back because he had done her so wrong. the past is having chris in his life no matter what.

present is the girl he finds under the apple tree, who looks so much like a flower. present is that same girl, who he wants to be like and feel confident enough to walk alongside. present is his group of friends who want to see him do well. present is mukai and an afternoon spent talking about what it means to love someone.

being in the monster's shoes is not just about looking in a mirror, but also about recognizing your reflection. identifying with the character he plays is not just about finding similarities, but also about trying to fix the past that the monster couldn't. facing the scientist on stage is telling his mother that he finally sees her, after so many years. forgiving his mother is not about taking sides, but about understanding that all humans have their own poison.

i believe that now we will finally delve a little deeper into shima's past and understand once and for all what really happened. we will increasingly have this overlap between past and present, between monster and shima, between doctor and his mother, between the play and his reality.

another month another beautiful chapter 💛 can't wait to see what sensei have in mind for the next arc!! thank you so much for reading my analysis and support sensei if you can!!!

Transcript: i think the fandom was genuinely better before 2020. or at least 2021. maybe i see nostalgia through rose-tinted glasses, but 2015-2019 was the best era of this fandom. people say cringe and free but there’s a difference between unknowing cringe and acknowledged cringe, and the former is just more genuine. more fun, more free. things were better, in my eyes. now there’s useless discourse (there was, of course, discourse then, but now people have wrapped morals into it. you’re not a bad person who wants to abuse people if your favorite character is canon nightmare sans, god), even worse fanon that people have dubbed as canon (dream is not an uwu baby, yes, but going in the entirely different direction and making him a mean smoker is just as fanon and inaccurate, you’re no better, so get off that pedestal), and just the bullying that comes with liking older interpretations.

blueberry is fine. uwu star sanses are fine. slendermansion bad sanses are fine. teddy bear horror is fine. any interpretation is fine. but there’s art left and right of people drawing characters punting those other interpretations whilst the creators themselves continue to make their own interpretations that are the same, if not worse, levels of inaccuracy and mischaracterization. it’s hypocrisy and i don’t doubt that in four or five years this era of the fandom will be mocked and a new, just as wrong interpretation will emerge. i don’t mind this, you can characterize anyone however you want. that’s what makes this fandom great. it’s just the fact that this is combined with the bullying of other interpretations that makes it hypocritical and me upset. not even to touch upon the new fanon of “sans would show no emotion of papyrus died”. in an attempt to move away from one side of the spectrum they went too far to the other, rather than settle upon the perfect balance.

in general i also grieve what will never come back. the style of older popular artists drawing sans, that line weight jakei and superyounma used that pulled the style together, the obsession when dream and nightmare became truly popular, the formation of the star sanses, the overuse of the word ‘senpai~’ when it came to crossmare, the comic dub movies on youtube, or how everyone obsessed over sans and made him overly edgy and emotional. the animation memes, the genuine sans fangirls, not the satire ones. ichika. the othertale animations. early underverse and the silly comics jakei made for it. the terrible wattpad fanfiction. amino. actually, we can leave out amino. i don’t miss amino.

it wasn’t all perfect. if i’m honest, it was a dumpster fire in a lot of ways. but it was my dumpster fire, and what once burned became nice and toasty. the fandom now is great, don’t get me wrong. i love how it’s turned out, i love how characters are no longer white anime boys and how people have begun to acknowledge how certain things are bad, rather than ignoring it. how underrated characters have been getting more attention.

but if i had to pick between the fandom now and the fandom then, i’d pick then in a heartbeat.

A new interview with the creators of the drama was published ahead of episode 6. They talk about how they approached selecting the project, working with the mangaka, being respectful of the lesbian community, casting the two MCs...

Below I MTL'd a few things I found interesting but the whole thing is worth reading on your own.

About the Adaptation

Kamiura: First of all, I talked a lot to find out how sensei thinks about her work. Personally, I don't think it's necessary a live-action adaptation that is faithful to the original work to shoot all the frames in the same way with exactly the same angle of view, and I thought it was more important to dictate the same spirituality, so I valued the friction between them.

Sensei also told me that the times have changed since the original work was written, so I would like people to value the values of today. The common theme of the production team was to create an entertaining GL work from a Japanese drama, while placing importance on the viewer's perspective...

Osugi: From the beginning of the project, I was very conscious of my involvement in the project and discussed it with Kamiura. For example, we used bars that are actually run by lesbians on location, had lesbian influencers appear in the first episode, and had Sal Jiang and Mori host lesbians and sexual minorities. We made efforts to have them speak at events.

About Casting

Kamiura: Regarding Kato-san, I have seen her in her previous works, but especially when she was active in variety shows, singing shows, YouTube, etc., and her everyday appearance is exactly like Ayaka-chan. I thought it would be a perfect fit, so I approached her.

In fact, although she is very serious and passionate at the core, she also has a charm that makes you unable to take your eyes off her, not knowing what she will say next, and I think she is a treasure trove.

What I think she has in common with Ayaka-chan is that she has strong roots and a strong core. She is a very cool woman who has the courage to confront her head-on without cutting corners even in a play. She may seem like a fluffy and cute person, but she is extremely athletic, has an excellent sense of comedy, and is quick-witted and kind enough to instantly lighten the mood even in times of trouble. She is truly a clever person who can do anything. I have the impression that it is.

Kamiura: I've seen [Mori Kanna] in many works over the years, but if anything, I think Kanna has a cool and charming appearance that she usually has, and her overwhelming charm as a woman who is popular with women. I thought you were the only person there, so I called out to you.

I think that Hiroko-senpai has exactly the charm that I had thought of, "I want to see Mori Kanna-san like this!", and I would like to see this scene of Hiroko-senpai in Kanna-san's play. I am grateful that you have realized this with a higher resolution than I could have imagined.

She has a very deep love for Hiroko, and she has taken into account our thoughts regarding this dramatization, and has diligently studied the lesbian community in which Hiroko-senpai has found herself. I believe that many things have come true this time because of that love.

Tekken 8 - Anti Reina Mishima Stamp(Rant) Huge Tekken 8 Spoilers!

This is gonna piss off Reina fans, but just a friendly reminder..... this is my opinion. If you love her, go on a page that praises her. You won't get it here. Alright here goes.

I was playing Tekken 8 at my friend's house. It was a fun time, and the story has improved from Tekken 7 (with the bland, monotone narrator gone, thank god) and..... Tekken 6 (ugh!) but has a few flaws.

The biggest flaw which almost ruined Tekken 8 for me, was this character, called Reina Mishima.

This is without a doubt, one of the most poorly written female characters I have ever seen in my entire life.

You mean to tell me that Lucky Chloe gets shit from Tekken fans, but Reina Mishima gets a free pass? WTF? I mean I am not a fan of Lucky Chloe (ok her character design is cute, but she is abusive AF to Eddie T.T) but at least she wasn't a forced and contrived, plot device character like Reina, and is just a dumb troll character from the creator, as a middle finger to their haters that really hated her guts.

Like you think Rey from Star Wars, Disney Remake Mulan, Bella Swan, or Captain Marvel were bad?

Well, that is nothing comparred to this DeviantArt OC, Mary-Sue reject.

So Reina is the daughter of Heihachi Mishima. (Oh, so we are doing the Lars Alexandersson plot-twist, from Tekken 6 again, in 2024... aka lazy, repetitive writing for Tekken 8 when it comes to introducing new characters... got it 👍) 

My issues with her that makes her a poorly written character is that:

-She is a flawless fighter, like Disney remake's Mulan bad. I know she is suppose to have flawless fighting moves like Heihachi, but good god, this is just embarrasing.

Edit: Ok, I understand that it is a fighting game, and the Mishima's are suppose to be powerful, badass fighters, so Reina should be no exception. Fair enough. I still think she is a self-insert character because she was just thrown into the story, with no buildup or references from previous games (Same issue I had with Lars in Tekken 6 btw, he just exists to replace Jin as a MC, and they made him a Mishima to make him more relavant, instead of him just standing out on his own as a character. I don't hate Lars btw, he has a cool character design, but the hair is riduclous, and I felt indifferent towards him at first, but now I kinda see him as a potential father figure to Jin in Tekken 8.)

-She is trying too hard to be a hardcore, edgy, tomboy, cool-looking version of Asuka, so I will call her the poor man's Asuka Kazama.

-Her character design and oufit is uninspired and too modern for my liking (Black boots, black short-shorts and A black and purple hoddie, huh.... how creative... -_-) oh and short black hair and purple streaks to add to the edgy, tomboy look. (Or the Karen look as I like to call it ^^)

-She is younger than Jin Kazama, YOUNGER! Despite being Jin's aunty. Yes, you heard correctly. I think the creators wanted a self-insert character to have some sort of sex appeal, which is why they made her look younger and prettier, and show off her legs (which gives me the ick.) And her calling Jin "Senpai" didn't help either.

(I also didn't like the fact the creators made Kazumi Mishima and Jun Kazama look younger than their own sons, like what is wrong with looking a bit older, mature and graceful? I actually want to see a badass, old lady in Tekken that can fight! Kazumi felt like a missed opportunity in that sense.)

-She manages to beat the shit out of Kazuya in her ending, despite her looking like a twig. Reminding me too much of something out Inuyasha, when that abusive, unbearable, bratty, girl Kagome would do the same thing to her love interest Inuyasha, for comedy! 🙄

I will admit that Kazuya is a shitty father (Sorry fans 😭 don't kill me) at least Kazuya has flaws, he is a damaged man, blinded by hatred, rage and has an obssession with power, like it's a drug to him. A wrathful devilman, but not completely heartless, otherwise he would just be another mini Heihachi.

Reina has no flaws, no personality, no interesting backstory and is just a pathetic Jerk-Sue Character (a Mary-Sue that is a Jerk, with no consequences for her actions.)

-She is also not a good plot-twist character either, again, she just ripped off Lars' backstory, so there is no originality from her.

-And to add to the cherry on top, when it comes to her being a poorly written, fanfic-styled Mary-Sue character, she is also....... a devil! 😈 Unless if it is revealed that she is Kazumi's daughter or something, then why the hell does she have to devil gene? And she wants to be the new Heihachi, huh? Wait till she finds out that Heihachi is the OG devil hater.

Terrible twist, terrible story, and a terrible first impression of Reina. 🤬 Fuck this character!

Honestly, it’s very nice seeing that so many people are fed up with this kind of behavior.  It used to be such an effective tactic to harass both the creator and people who interact with their work in any way, so many people became antis simply because they were paranoid that they would get “oh so you think this is allowed? Oh so you like this kind of thing?” treatment.

But as more and more people acknowledge that this whole issue is a made-up problem and a nothingburger that only serves to deflect attention from things that actually do matter, it slowly gets better. I hope more people see this.

I think they might, Anon! They really are cute together, and they were very cute in the Ghost Marriage event. Ace loves being all cute and sleazy with his senpais, but with Idia, it seems like he genuinely thinks that he is cool and would love to hang out with him; he is also very impressed with his gaming skills in ch6. But he is also a little douche who likes to talk shit about people around him + call out their bullshit, and those qualities are incredibly specific, but also somehow the qualities that Idia kind of gravitates towards. Not gonna lie, I usually avoid the ask related to my drawing time or process. I cannot count how many asks I have received on this same matter, but...

Well, I should clarify one thing: I am not uncomfortable answering these ask. I answer some if I can. I just don't know how to answer most of them. English isn't my first language so even if I want to write a tutorial it's just gonna be... "messy" I think? Also, I have this love-hate feeling when it comes to drawing fast.

As you can see I draw almost daily. To answer asks, to present my own ideas,... there are two reasons for my fast-drawing skill:

I think way too much. My trains of thought often crash onto each other and my brain is just purely chaotic, to the point I'm overloaded and stop thinking. That's not good. So before things get complicated or fade to nothingness I would draw them out. it's how I preserve my ideas, keep my sanity intact, and not shut down from thinking.

It's my practice. I grew up knowing practice makes perfect, so I kinda draw to train my muscle memory. A kind of habit as an artist. I remember coming across an interview with BL artist Hotoku and I saw their comment on how to get through a "slump":

and it was at that moment I realized there's nothing more important than to draw when you are an artist. A "slump" (or artblock, etc...) is a disaster for all art creators, so I choose to prevent and get out of it simply by drawing more.

I remember I doubted Hotoku's answer for some time, but now I understand them perfectly. I, too, love and think about drawing all the time, almost that I don't want to do anything else besides drawing. It's complicated to describe, but I think I gaslighted myself successfully into a drawing maniac.

After all, all that I'm capable of is drawing. If it's not for my artworks, I'd be nothing. I can not satisfy my parents, my coworkers, my senpais, or even myself, so at least seeing some strangers on the internet appreciate my drawing warms me up inside I think, ehe~

As for how long it takes me to draw, it depends. Some simple sketches to answer asks took from a few minutes to maybe some good hours. The asks keep coming and I'm delighted to it, but the most I can do is answer 5 - 6 of them a day, usually, I could only do 3 - 4 or least, so I have to admit and apologize because I can not answer everything sent to my ask box. I do the most I can. The asks are a huge part of my creative inspiration and mental comfort, so I always give them my best. Thanks for sending me these asks everyone~

I called off my work today and shut down all the notifications from my boss, so maybe I'll rest more. But I would get back to draw as soon as I can.

As I try my best to get myself out of writing/art block, I thought about one of the many relationship analysis posts that are still at the back of my queue - and thus we may start with our genius bug boys, shall we?

As I had already outlined before, their relationship may not be the most fleshed out compared to other older/younger Chosen Children pairs - but this wonderful moment in particular is, in my opinion, still enough for us to speculate on how their bond may develop. It's Senpai!Koushirou at his very best, taking the still very distraught Ken under his wing, reassuring and comforting him in his own ways - because these two have way more in common than just being smart boys with bug Digimon partners.

While their set-ups are being focused on in very different ways, their arcs are both defined by trying to be more casual, natural with the people close to them due to identity-and-family-related trauma. While Koushirou buried himself in his laptop and knowledge gathering to avoid thinking about himself and his potential whereabouts for being adopted, struggling with social interactions, Ken was dragged into the world of the dark ocean after the death of his brother, getting corrupted in the process and committing horrifying actions, thus feeling unworthy of being redeemed and befriended for a long, long time. One might argue that, if it wasn't for two certain goggle boys reaching their hands out to them, they may have never found the courage to become confident in their abilities, using their intellect for the good and the sake of their friends and families, letting their natural kindness shine through eventually...

And in the same vein, I feel like Koushirou, by the time of 02, had to become the person he is there first to be able to reach out to Ken himself, so Ken could move on to reach out to the others as well. Even if he may not have been consciously aware of it, he (besides Yamato, Takeru and Hikari) was probably among the people who could relate to Ken the most - and thus, treated him with kindness.

Unfortunately, we never really see them interact directly after that again, even though Koushirou did try his best to integrate Ken into the team despite everything he had done. So long story short - we at least know there is a peaceful, trusting and kind foundation between them.

Whether I think why and how they’d work.

In case you haven't noticed how I talked about them above, I would absolutely love for these two to be closer with each other. My assumption is that the creators of Digimon tried to avoid putting them together too blatantly, because they may be way too powerful in figuring out everything on their own. I also don't believe that there would be any kind of competitive spirit between these two - in fact, Ken has quite the tendency to play himself down and canonically confirms that "if Koushirou-san can't figure this out, how are we supposed to?", implying that he is also still looking up greatly to his senpai. I think they could be quite knowledge bombs due to their natural curiosity in different fields, with Koushirou being more accustomed to the technical and theoretical side of things, whereas Ken may have more knowledge outside of that. They're both the voices of reasons in their respective groups - and may also need a little time-out every now and then to settle down, enjoy some quiet time by themselves (and with each other) after being exposed to the shenanigans their friends come up with.

This may be more of a dub-only thing, but - I could actually imagine them having fun at quiz nights and despite being the smartest people in the room, would always be the least competitive about it (especially when Miyako and Daisuke are with them), because they could just talk about their gathered findings for hours without end. Nobody else could follow their train of thought at this point, but that's okay, because they just enjoy theorizing together.

Whether I’d prefer them as platonic or romantic ship.

Overall, I think they would work better on a platonic basis, mainly because they're both people who need other people with outgoing energy levels as complementary forces to pull them out of their shells as romantic partners. But again, I believe they could be amazing friends to each other, a safe haven so to speak.

Una delle commedie romantiche forse più attese di quest'anno, non poteva di certo mancare fra le nuove proposta estive!

Come vi avevo già accennato in altre occasioni, la serie è tratta dall'omonima light novel firmata da Sunsunsun, che ha ovviamente ispirato anche una versione manga.

L'adattamento è targato Doga Kobo (Oshi no Ko, La medusa non sa nuotare nella notte) ed è diretto da Ryota Itoh (My Senpai Is Annoying, Shikimori’s Not Just a Cutie).

Trama: Alya è una studentessa da poco arrivata che si gode la popolarità nel suo nuovo liceo, mostrando spesso un atteggiamento freddo mentre accumula ottimi voti. Ignora costantemente il suo compagno di classe nerd, Kuze Masachika, tranne quando si lascia scappare frasi sdolcinate riferite a lui in russo. Anche se lei non lo sa, Kuze capisce il russo malgrado non lo ammetta. Guardiamo dove li porterà questa bizzarra storia d'amore!

Diventa amica di Suzuha, Shion, Anna, Onka e Megumi e formano le PoMPoMs. La loro nuova squadra va ben oltre il cheerleading e raggiunge il cuore delle persone per cui le ragazze fanno il tifo. Potrebbero persino cambiare il mondo!

La storica (s)fortuna di Osamu Dazai nel non riuscire mai a togliersi veramente la vita in pace è diventata talmente meme da arrivare fino in territorio isekai, grazie al nuovo manga di Hiroshi Noda e Takahiro Wakamatsu, i creatori di Love After World Domination e de La Sirena Cannibale.

La commedia è fatta in casa Atelier Pontdarc (Uncle From Another World, Ganbare Douki-chan) e ha come regista Shigeki Kawai (Uncle From Another World).

Trama: Trascinato in avventure in un altro mondo con aiutanti carine e con dei superpoteri, penserai che Osamu abbia fatto tombola. Per niente! Direttamente da un epoca precedente i pixel, il tetro autore di inizio 20° secolo vorrebbe solo un posto tranquillo per poter incontrare il suo creatore, non per accumulare XP. Sadicamente, la sua poetica dipartita è costantemente ritardata da atti di eroismo involontari. Gettati nella esilarante e tragica vita dell'eroe più riluttante!

🔶🔸AFTER SCHOOL HANAKO-KUN (Stagione 2) - In arrivo da ottobre

Torna anche la miniserie spinoff di Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun, che su sulla piattaforma trovate anche con il titolo localizzato Hanako-kun: il doposcuola dell'Accademia Kamome.

Quello che non è ancora tradotto, purtroppo, è la serie principale, realizzata sempre da Lerche (Asobi Asobase, Given), che è anch'essa stata rinnovata per una seconda stagione, attualmente senza una finestra di debutto precisa, però.

Sia il manga originale, che la side story in chiave comica dello scolastico sovrannaturale firmato da Iro Aida, sono editi in Italia da J-Pop Manga.

Trama: Lo spirito Hanako-kun e la sua assistente umana, l'alunna del primo anno Nene Yashiro, mantiene l'equilibrio tra le forze sovrannaturali e gli studenti dell'accademia Kamome. Seconda stagione all'orizzonte anche per la serie sul racing basata sul nuovo manga di Shuuichi Shigeno, il mitico autore di Initial D.

I primi 12 episodi diretti da Tomohito Naka (Initial D Legend 2: Racer, Initial D Legend 3: Dream), presso lo studio Felix Film (Aharen-san wa Hakarenai, Otherside Picnic), sono già tutti disponibili sottotitolati in italiano.

Trama: Il Giappone inizia a utilizzare le macchine elettriche auto-pilotate e rende obsolete le macchine a combustibili fossili, nel 202X. Le più veloci automobili trovano nuova vita con il MFG, un circuito di corse automobilistiche tenuto su piste giapponesi. Gareggiano i piloti di tutto il mondo nel tentativo di vincere il titolo. Kanata Rivington torna in Giappone dal Regno Uniti per gareggiare nel MFG e per trovare suo padre. Riuscirà a vincere il titolo e a trovare le risposte che cerca? Dulcis in fundo, annunciato anche il simulcast dell’attesissimo adattamento animato di Atelier of Witch Hat, il nuovo manga fantasy firmato da Kamome Shirahama (Enidewi - Eniale & Dewiela), che possiamo trovare sui nostri scaffali assieme allo spinoff culinario Kitchen of Witch Hat, grazie a Panini Comics.

Ancora non si sa nulla sul progetto, ma se trattato con tutti i crismi del caso, potrebbe rivelarsi un must watch al pari di Frieren - Oltre la Fine del Viaggio e Dungeon Food. Il 4 luglio si terrà un panel con il probabile reveal della serie. Da tenere assolutamente d'occhio.

i'm a huge fan of it gets so lonely here because it does a lot of cool things with the narration and multiple playthroughs. her tears were my light does similar things with the multiple playthrough thing and it was the first visual novel to really open my eyes to what the genre could be like! and because apparently today is horror yuri day i will add liar liar and liar liar 2. the artstyle is very cute! and there's blood!

for less horror yuri and more dating sim, i am currently completely obsessed with tokimeki memorial girls side 1-3, the dating sim/visual novel/stat-raising hybrid that inspired a lot of otome games—— and for good reason, too, because it's JUST THAT GOOD. i almost exploded something trying to play the fourth game but i will not let that stop me

in pure visual novel, i have to recommend heartbaked, it was one of those games i played in my free visual novel frenzy when i was younger and it really stuck with me! i still think about the radley ending.

i adore adore adore pacthesis games and i would love to direct you to my number one favourite and inspiration, number days sim date, because the intertwining of plot and romance and friendship was wonderful. xolga and mr toko is more point and click but check those out too
