Woodland photography brings me so much joy. Of course I'd prefer to be able to shoot epic landscapes 24/7, but they are too far away so I have to make do in my everyday-life with what's around me. I love woodlands though and there are a couple of nice ones around here. So it's easy for me to enjoy this.

If I don’t have my daily allotted time outside in the backyard I fear I may shrivel up!

My bed is next to the window, so this morning I woke up and immediately looked out the window. I saw the trees, and the golden sunlight filtering through changing leaves as the canopy swayed.
I like this existence, sometimes. I think I want to stay here. I think I want to remember.

Driving to town the other day, I saw this truck filled with dead trees, polluting the air with black smoke. It is the epitome of disrespect, and it almost made me cry. It brought to mind the John Prine song, Paradise, with the following lyrics.... they tortured the timbers, and they stripped all the land. There were three more trucks following this one, and they were filled with dead trees, and they all emitted black smoke, too. I live amongst beautiful, giant trees. They provide the air that I breathe. They are gorgeous. I love these trees. Seeing them being hauled away by air polluting trucks is very upsetting to me. They leave huge stripped areas and pretend to plant trees to make it alright. They think that we don't know that the saplings they plant will take decades upon decades upon decades upon decades upon decades to even come close to replacing these beautiful, giant trees that they haul away. The black smoke just adds insult to injury. I wish I knew how to stop them from destroying the land and air and teach them how to be respectful and do this in a sustainable fashion. Alas and alack.... 😥
Save our forests... save our trees... be respectful of nature.... please 🙏🏼 🙏🏼 🙏🏼

Sunday, Sunday, Sunday ...
Lying beneath the duvet, coffee to hand, thinking back to drifty days walking through woodland. Twigs snapping, leaves crinkling and crushing underfoot, sounds hanging on the morning mist.
Heading off the designated paths, head ducking beneath moss covered branches, delving further and further into the maze of trees.
Half in the moment, half back at home as the feeling of being lost sinks in. Stopping to turn, take stock, eyes scanning for the familiar.
Smiling with realisation at an old Oak friend, setting off once more, one hand in the pocket that holds the single seed collected.
Heading home, car heater blowing, already planning on when next to head back to the forest.
Sunday, Sunday, Sunday ...

My first lamp I made of polymer clay mushrooms on a tree limb under glass with quartz crystals. I also made the little owl from air dry clay.
