Chapter 2: Cooks in the Kitchen
From: The Rainmaker Series
Pairing: Mob! Steve x Forensic Scientist! Reader
Summary: Everyone hates a backseat driver. And a surprise guest when you’re not at your best.
Word count: 3,234
Content/warnings: TW: dead body and all you would expect in forensic science, I tried to make this not graphic, mentions of bruising, mentions of torture and abuse, sassy and borderline mean reader, awkward Steve who overthinks, reluctant? flirting, allusions to and mentions of murder
Author’s Note: For my dearly beloved @krirebr please know that you’re loved and appreciated by us all. I hope this helps, just a little bit. (Extra angsty, hopefully to your tastes)😘
What I’m gonna say is Decks seems very on edge compared to how she was before. Her guard came up out of ‘nowhere?’ Hm, that’s weird… or is it?
Anyway, these are Loupe glasses, if you’re wondering. They let you see tiny things up close and at a better angle.
Comments, reblogs, asks, and any feedback is so welcome and appreciated. Thank you for reading!

After your weekend at the farm, Steve drove you home to return to your normal life. As much as you loved being out in the country, city life was definitely more your speed. You immediately went back to work and were happy to keep your busy routine going. Sure, a weekend away from screens and solvents was a breath of fresh air, but this was where you thrived.
Despite the way there were new, more outlandish cases to deal with, the days were surprisingly routine. Come in, visit a crime scene, run some tests, go home, do it again. You lived for that sort of zen. The detachment of simply putting your head down and getting to work was what you were used to, and then once you were home, it was like a sanctuary. You could lounge, pick up another hobby out of the thousand you’d already started, and crawl into your fresh sheets.
It’s not like you were entirely a hermit, though. You got along with your coworkers and would commonly joke around with them, but first and foremost, you were a proper worker, doing your job. When something really needed done, you’d lock down in the lab, music blasting, and crank out results.
Steve was the same way. He tried to keep his days as routine as possible, despite the way work brought something new everyday. Rival gangs needed monitored and law people needed bribed. Shipments and production needed to be kept on a tight schedule and up to pace with increasing demand.
There wasn’t much time for it, but he’d found certain images and memories start to take hold in his mind. They were different from the grade school ones of Bucky, or his times learning the ropes of his trade, or the first suit he’d ever worn. They were new, they were…warm? Lacked that same rigidity? They were of you. Driving his car effortlessly, petting a baby goat as it bleated happily, teaching him to dance…small, little moments that he couldn’t let go of, but he didn’t have time to replay enough.
He did his best to stay proper in his business dealings. Steve was known for his gentlemanly demeanor, truly a golden boy of the underground, or…at least as much of one as an individual could be given the legality loopholes he was constantly trying to jump through.
On the outside, he was smooth as a beach. Fluid with the crashes of waves this industry threw at him. He’d gotten good at rolling with the punches without a single blond hair out of place. But inside? It was a hurricane. The wind raged and echoed in his ears, putting him on edge. It was sensory overload.
Everyday, he found his attention wanting to wander more and more to that simpler time, not romanticizing it for the lack of pressing responsibility, but for the fact he spent genuine moments with someone who was unlike those in his world. Unlike the men so obsessed with maintaining their place on top or squashing others to get there. They were all about the money, but you were working for the people, and for the betterment of the city. To solve cases and give peace to families. And Steve knew he was all too often on the other side of that, even if he prided himself on only taking out the worst of the worst. The ones who deserved it. They were the ones endangering women and children, who to him, were the distastefully vulnerable and undeserving of wrath, despite the fates they were met with from the awful men Steve rid the world of. He wasn’t breaking his set of morals and rules, he was just breaking the law sometimes. Steve was a good man, he just happened to make his living doing bad things.
He didn’t have time to reflect on that right now, though. Things had seriously picked up in recent weeks. Bucky was soon to return, but it didn’t help that Steve felt like Lloyd was unrelentingly on their asses. Leading the organization when it came to the normal stuff was fine, but the extra protections Bucky was making him run, along with the extensive research and monitoring was already taking its toll. Steve was used to a lack of sleep, he basically lived on adrenaline and black coffee, but another night where he was fielding calls and sending out directives without a wink was causing his emotional guard to fall.
It was early morning as Steve sat at his desk. He’d ordered Sam to head out hours ago, but as the sun was cresting over the horizon, not even that searing glow could keep Steve’s tired mind at bay. The levees against the flood were weakened beyond belief. The hurricane was about to make landfall.
Just then, the phone rang. It was one of his contacts down at the police station. That wasn’t new, but the specific news was and Steve wanted to be there in person to get every bit of information he could... and perhaps catch a glimpse at the one person who could scratch that new itch in his brain. Maybe, finally, at least he could catch a nap in the car, as Steve called Gio to drive him over.
Over the couple weeks you’ve been back, you couldn’t help the way your mind wandered constantly, either. Even your favorite playlist couldn’t keep you on track, so you opted for silence, the scenes replaying of your time on the farm doing plenty to help you block out your surroundings.
You were working on a particularly difficult case currently. There was no time for distractions. The overcast sky just added to the ambiance of the feeling that something unusual was looming over you. You pulled yourself out of your thoughts, along with the keys from the ignition, and took a deep breath, letting it out sharply to get yourself ready. When you’d gotten out of the SUV and to the crime scene, Detective Lang greeted you.
“So I’ve got good news and bad news. Which do you want first?”
He guided you along the River walk and down the rocky shore where a victim laid, waves still lapping over her feet as photographers and cops gathered around the scene, surveying it for evidence. A small crowd had gathered along the pathway, held back by barricades and uniformed officers. At least you were here before the news crews.
“Bad news first, always. You know that.” You spoke with a purpose, slipping on your gloves after pushing up the sleeves of your department-issued windbreaker and cuffing your pants so they wouldn’t get wet.
“So far, looks like it was blunt force trauma with a side of torture. Very little evidence to go off of, especially considering there are no open wounds and the tools used for this kinda thing could be in any household.”
You crouched down by the body and immediately took note of the bruising. You hummed in acknowledgement and looked back up at the detective, his head framed by the cloudy, gray sky, the rising sun now hidden. Fitting for a tragedy like this. A woman your age subjected to that sort of an ending…
“And the good news?”
He sighed, looking up at the sky, hands on his hips, before he dropped his head back down towards you.
He winced. “Body’s fresh? Disposal doesn’t appear very well thought-out.”
You nodded and looked around for any piece of evidence that hadn’t washed away. He was right, it was gonna be difficult to pull many testable elements.
“Well, I’ll do the usual work-up, then, and let you know when you’re good to get everything over to the medical examiner.”
He curtly nodded and turned on his heel to speak with the witnesses before you began to pull out your kit, swabbing for anything of note.
After you finished collecting everything you could, you carefully slipped back through the background and away from the slew of reporters now blanketing the scene. Ugh, you hated those block heads. Especially Lucas Bell, the weird little ray of sunshine you went to school with growing up. For some reason, he thought the two of you were actually friends, despite never having even given him the signal you appreciated his presence. The worst part: you could tell he wasn’t hitting on you. He would genuinely seek you out at crime scenes, that gross happy smile on his face, calling you by the birth name almost no one used anymore in favor of your college nickname. Every time, it was, “hey, remember me, old pal? Great to see you! Any information you’re willing to share?” Who the hell was so chipper when their job was literally to report tragedies?
You bobbled your head as you mocked him to yourself and got back into your work SUV. Ugh, you hated that guy. And all the other reporters. You didn’t wanna be on camera. What if you wanted to work for the FBI one day? Huh? What then? Can’t have your face out there all willy nilly and then expect to be doing covert ops. Nope. You prepared to race back to the precinct, ready to drown yourself in an afternoon of attempting to suck evidence out of a cotton swab caked in river grime and essentially, air, if you could count that as evidence.
You drove back through the pouring rain. Another thing to be annoyed by. First, the longing for your simple weekend once again, then the intrusive thoughts about annoying little reporters, and now, the near-flooding on the roads. You could hear her in your head now, Bee saying “rain makes corn. It’s a good thing.” You rolled your eyes, to be honest, you liked the rainy atmosphere, but you know what rain also makes? Bad drivers. At this point, it was just best to get back to the lab, buckle down, and stay there, where no one could possibly bother you.
You were hours in to your intensive testing. Your spectrometry readings gave the smallest peaks, hard to say if the readings actually were something or just background noise. You were happy to put in the time, but something just felt…off. It was infuriating and not helping your mood, but you tried your best to keep it separated from work. It wasn’t perfect, but it was your best. Another small thing going wrong could push you over the edge, though.
You opted to just look at a small fabric sample, deciphering if there truly was some thread of note caught in the weave. You just needed to concentrate and you knew you could find something. You were purely focused and zoomed in, using your Loupe glasses, paired with several lamps overhead, with the highest hopes of even a shred of confirma-
“Decks? More like Specks.”
The sudden voice that echoed through the lab startled you, causing your head to shoot up and bump against one of the metal lamps.
“Ow!” At that same time, the forceps and piece of fabric flew out of your hands and onto the floor. It didn’t help that you knocked into your instrument tray on the way, sending all those onto the floor, as well.
Great, now you had to go to the stock room to find a new package of sterile ones. This was the last set left in the lab. You looked up from where you watched the evidence fall, rubbing your forehead with the back of your gloved hand, eyes narrow at the business man in a suit who was previously leaned against your doorway, now tentatively walking towards you to crouch on the ground.
“Steve, what the hell?” You trailed off for a second. “You and Bee really do have the same sense of humor. I thought she just told me that as a selling point.” It came out as an irritated growl. You rolled your eyes as you squatted down to start cleaning your mess.
Steve laughed. Selling point? Bee talked to you about him? And tried to make him appealing? He wasn’t sure why, but he felt a certain warmth in his stomach at that. He pushed it down as much as he could. Either way, he truly did get along well with her.
“Well you know what they say, birds of a feather and all.” He joined you near the floor after having grabbed a glove, picking up some stray instruments and placing them back in the metal holding tray.
You muttered lowly as you finally stood up and turned away from him, after grabbing the fabric off the floor gingerly and placing it in a plastic protective case. “More like wasps of a stinger.”
Steve disposed of his gloves and looked over the results on your computer. You quickly hit the keys to lock the screen, sure to cast him a nasty glare. The last thing you needed was to get accused of leaking evidence.
What was he doing here, anyway? With those broad shoulders and that skinny waist. What did he even need shoulders that big for? How did he even shop for clothes? You swear his waist was literally the same circumference as your thigh. They don’t carry stuff like that in department stores.
Steve looked at you with a confused glance as you removed your gloves and washed your hands. There was a hint of humor in his voice, but it was mostly filled with caution at your attitude.
“Um, I don’t really shop for clothes? I’ve got a tailor. He’s pretty good.”
After your hands were dry, you facepalmed harder than ever before. You couldn’t believe you said that out loud. Maybe you did need to interact with more people outside of work. You were too comfortable talking to yourself. You took a deep breath before turning around and looking at Steve again. His face now mostly held tentative kindness, and that was a nice change to the anger that was sitting in your belly all day today. You still couldn’t help what you spat back, though.
“You have a tailor? In this economy? Of course you do…rich prick.” The last part was grumbled under your breath, but Steve still caught it. Where was this hostility coming from? He thought the two of you had gotten along great before. What changed?
Steve’s hurt caused him to fire back, albeit much nicer than you had. “You’re calling me rich? Decks, I’ve seen your apartment, it’s nice. Especially for this city. Way nicer than my first place.”
First off, what was that supposed to mean? You were still suspicious about exactly what Steve and Bucky did for a living. You knew they made a lot of money. Steve wore designer suits, if he could help it, and you assumed Bucky did, as well, but what business did they have being this built?
You let go of that, though, wanting to just get back to work after the disturbance, but why had you been disturbed in the first place?
“Steven, what are you doing in my lab?”
He was taken aback. Woah, full names. He knew your full name, but didn’t dare to find out what would become of him if he used it. It didn’t seem like many did. He wanted to go about this the right way. He didn’t want abuse his delicate position as a friend of a friend when you were so close to the law…yet.
He stood upright and pressed his shoulders back. Right, he was here on business. He had to remember that. It wasn’t a personal call and he had to stay professional.
“I was actually meeting with Scott, er, Detective Lang. He called me about the new case that came in this morning.”
You nodded slowly. “You knew her?”
Why did that make you nervous? Of course Steve knew women, like, duh, but something burning rose in your chest in anticipation of his response. Why did you care? You didn’t even want him here. Right?
He shook his head lightly. “No…well, sort of? She was an employee of one of my businesses. A salon.”
One of his businesses, of course. A salon was…interesting… but you guessed not out of the question with how perfect his stupid perfect hair always was. Whatever, just because he was here for some questioning, doesn’t mean he had to pay you a visit.
“Okay…so why did you come in here?”
You looked up at him from the odds and ends you were shuffling around your work bench out of nervousness.
“I actually wanted to see you, maybe help out a little?”
You eyed him skeptically, ignoring the way your chest sent a tingle down towards your fingertips. “You know when someone offers to keep close to a case like that, it usually means they had something to do with it, right?”
Steve put his hands up in surrender. “I swear this wasn’t me. I just genuinely care for my employees. Did you check under the fingernails? Maybe there was some DNA there or something?”
Your gaze became even more burning towards him. “Yes, Steven. I checked under the nails. That’s like, the first thing you do in cases like this. But why would you know that, anyway? And how can you say you care so much about your employees if you didn’t even know the girl?”
He rubbed the back of his neck. He was usually much smoother than this. How did you intimidate him so much so suddenly. Oh no…Is that where the name ‘Decks’ came from? Were you gonna hit him? Deck him? Did you have a pension for beating guys up? If he made a wrong move, would you literally punch him? Give him a black eye? Sure, much worse had happened to him before, but he wasn’t sure if he’d be able to emotionally recover if the damage came from you.
Either way, Steve didn’t want to find out, so he continued quite cautiously and uncomfortable within your domain, lacking the confidence that came so easily to him in all his usual business dealings and the quasi-leadership role he found himself in.
“I um…I watch a lot of CSI shows?” He hoped that was believable, but he knew it came out like a squeak, almost. He may as well be a little kid losing fights in a back alley again. He cleared his throat in an attempt to get his voice back to normal. “I do care for my employees, though. And my reputation, and the ability to make sure nothing like this happens again to anyone involved with me.”
You sighed at that. You can understand the want to prevent future disasters, especially when it came to someone working so low at the bottom of the food chain for such a major company. As you slipped your Loupe glasses back on and readjusted your lamps, you gestured for Steve to take a seat in your computer chair while you moved to a stool by the lab bench.
“Okay, fine. I’ll let you hang around, but don’t tell me how to do my job.”
You couldn’t help the way the corner of your lip turned up, just out of Steve’s sight, as he strutted over and plopped down into the rolly chair, watching you with a smile and his fingers laced behind his head.

Bonus A/N: I’m very excited for what’s going to grow between Steve and Decks. She’s a lil independent thing and he’s just so “idk what to do bc I’m supposed to be in control but I’m doing everything on her terms” and I love it. Lmk what you think!!!

Theater kid curis bros
YES.
Darry definitely loves musicals……I feel like their mom loved music and would play piano with him as a kid…his mom used to tell him of her dreams to go to a real live theater to perform and so the Curtises used to put on little plays for their mama and papa and that’s what introduced them to theater! I headcanon Darry likes to volunteer to help out with the sets at Pony’s school, like if he has the time he’ll paint the sets and even build them-he likes working with the other people and he does such a good job that the Soc parents sometimes tip him. So it’s nice. Plus the painting relaxes him and he’ll sing along to the songs (DARRY CAN SING THIS IS NONNEGOTIABLE-i see you brent comer…) some of the girls definitely crush on him, he’s very popular in the school’s theater department. He also likes to sing along to his records when he’s home alone…soda walked in on him once and it was one of soda’s favorite records and y’know that scene in zootopia where claw haydee walks in on chief bogo playing the gazelle app? it’s like that. it’s literally just like that lol
RIP Sodapop you would’ve loved modern musicals…this boy would fuck up legally blonde and mamma mia and grease…Sodapop was definitely into the arts…he was never really into sports because it was kinda rough on him (I headcanon he used to play soccer as a kid but it just wasn’t for him) but he found a safe haven in drama. Ngl he was always type cast as the comedic relief or the love interest but he didn’t care. i feel like the dancing and singing and acting helped him work out his extra energy. I feel like he used to keep up with soccer but it kinda confined him with how many rules there were and such and he just never felt free. he felt more free in drama club because h expuso just do what he wanted with his character and really make it his own. He’s really good at dance. He probably got shit from Steve about it for a bit but Steve doesn’t care. If Soda is happy he’s happy. Darry definitely went to all the shows no matter how busy he was and he’d always cheer the loudest. The Curtises were obnoxious at those plays but they’re just supporting Soda. I feel like Soda also just randomly starts singing. Doing the dishes, working, whatever. He’s just always doing something.
Not exactly theater kid but I love the Ponyboy in choir headcanon. I feel like while Darry was taught piano Pony had no interest…so his mom taught him guitar so Pony knows how to play guitar. and another thing is when Pony’s parents died he was what, in eighth grade? And I feel like after that things got really hard but he picked up guitar again and started singing to try and relieve the pain. (a lot of Pony’s coping mechanisms revolve around drawing or reading or singing or writing poetry and when he got back into guitar he started writing songs…even if they were little and unserious it helped him cope) Darry walked in on Pony singing something once…probably a song he wrote (Ponyboy definitely writes poetry and songs in his free time) and encouraged him to join choir because he thought it’d be helpful and it honestly was. He would rather die than tell the gang (only Johnny and his brothers know) but he’d be lying if he said he didn’t enjoy it. He accompanies their music sometimes too. I can see Pony doing painting sets or something with Darry! I don’t know if he’d do acting just because he’s rather do something to destrezas him and being in cast can be stressful…It’s a bonding activity when Darry has time to show up.
That’s what I have lol-I love artsy boys 💜

HEY so, after all this whole month, what are your thoughts on Ariana Grande? not saying that you should love her ofc, but i don't know how u felt and feel bout her so it's genuine curiosity!
This is a fun question! A loaded one, considering I've got so much to say but a fun one nonetheless.
Since I've been obsessed with this movie and have been exposed to a lot of Ariana Grande as a result, I've had plenty of time to solidify my opinion of her.
Before I saw the film I just. Didn't care about her? I didn't listen to her music, didn't keep up with her as a celebrity and really the only things I knew about her were the controversies she was involved in. Namely the doughnut licking, the homewrecking rumors and ofc the blackfishing.
The blackfishing is definitely the one that stuck with me because honestly I think it's the only justifiable thing to hate her over.
The doughnut licking was a case of her being heavily inebriated after surgery and wasn't in her right mind and the people who were supposed to be taking care of her egged her on to act out.
The homewrecker thing is a messier situation but my main opinion is I don't like how everybody jumped to conclusions without actually knowing the insider details of these people's personal lives. Maybe Spongebob was an asshole and cheated on his wife and Ariana was complicit in it. That's absolutely possible. It's also possible that his marriage was already terminated in every way except legally when he and Ariana started seeing each other and he and his wife just weren't ready to announce it to the public yet. It's a schrodinger's cat situation. We're probably never gonna know the truth about what actually happened because (SHOCKINGLY) the people involved value at least some semblance of privacy. So what's the point in getting worked up over it?
But the blackfishing thing is legit. This isn't a case of speculation or rumor. This was a well documented point in time where Ariana Grande was criticised for appropriating black culture. Obviously this isn't a thing I can talk about in depth or give my opinions on because it's not even remotely my place. But it was a thing that happened.
All I'll say is that I personally found this to be kind of scummy of her. And this aspect of her reputation was my biggest opinion of her when her being cast as Glinda was announced. I didn't know much about her except that she was the "little black white girl" as Patti LaBelle called her. SO I wasn't exactly thrilled.
There's no point in me talking about whether she should or should not be forgiven for the blackfishing. That's out of my hands. She never appropriated MY culture so my forgiveness or lack thereof is meaningless. It simply is what it is.
It's worth noting that she doesn't do this anymore and is currently presenting as white as milk. Even her voice has changed to accommodate her new white girl aesthetic. She's like a chameleon, it's truly impressive.
I think the question as to WHY she made this change could contextualize her a bit more but God knows if we'll ever get the reason.
The more cynical outlook is that Ariana discarded the little black white girl persona the moment it no longer benefited her and went full bleach blonde waif once auditions for Glinda started cropping up. It's fully possible that this is why she did it.
Considering how fake and opportunistic celebrities tend to be, it's not unreasonable to make this assumption about her. We're jaded, we're tired. We're not buying into parasocial relationships anymore.
It's also fully possible that she just. Wanted to change. Wanted to do better going forward. It'd possible she was genuinely ashamed of this persona she had crafted for herself and didn't want to maintain it anymore.
This is a way more optimistic view on it. And I think it's admirable to choose to give people the benefit of the doubt. Even celebrities who exist behind this veil of truths and lies. We're not given much reason to trust in the goodness of Ariana Grande but some of us would like to do so anyway. Because why not? And that's reasonable too I think.
Because I really do NOT know anything about what this woman is actually like behind closed doors (and neither does anyone else. Even if they think they do), I don't align too strongly with either of these views. Again, schrodinger's cat situation. I think either are possible.
I think if I guard myself behind a wall of cynical disbelief every time a celebrity TRIES to improve themselves, and think "this is all a publicity stunt, they don't actually mean any of it" this outlook will eventually rot away at me and I'll become quite a cold, cruel person. I don't want that. I want to believe in people's capacity for good.
However, I also don't want to be the person who falls for every lie, fake apology and half baked manipulation out there. I don't want to believe in people so blindly that it makes me stupid. Especially not when appealing to our empathy has always been a tactic for shitty people to avoid being held accountable. I don't want to assume the worst in people, but I also want to stay sharp and pragmatic. So I'm not gonna shoo away shitty actions with "ah it's okay you didn't mean it" just because I want to believe they didn't.
So my stance on Ariana is like. Neutral but hopeful? I'm going to opt to believe she's working on herself and changing for the better but I wouldn't exactly be blown away if it turns out this isn't the case.
I hope that one day she addresses the blackfishing thing and is upfront about it. I hope she apologizes. I know that she definitely won't apologize anytime soon. Regardless of whether she wants to or not, Ariana is not allowed to just say things. We might not ever see or hear about them but she's flocked by a PR team at all times. Most things about the way she presents herself are carefully calculated for the sake of good press. If she wanted to own up to the shitty way she acted, I don't think she'd be allowed to revisit it NOW, not in the height of her wicked fame. It would only draw too much attention to that time in her life and get people side-eyeing her again. But I hope she apologizes eventually. It would be SOMETHING at least.
With my neutral/hopeful outlook, I DO respect and admire her as she currently is very much!! I don't know maybe it's just due to the enshittification of everything, but I've almost cried a few times over just how passionately Ariana CARES about wicked. She cares about the characters, the story, the source material, everything. There's been jokes in interviews that she was very nitpicky about details and was frequently arguing about changes to the script, because she wanted everything to be perfect. And honestly? Go her. Maybe it's just cuz I'm autistic but it's just very validating to see an actress making lighthearted jokes at her own expense about being annoying over details and yet fully embracing just how deeply this project meant to her and not downplaying it for a second.
She's even joked about how she understands why people were so pissed off when it was announced that she would play Glinda. She says that if she was somebody else, but still a fan of wicked, and she saw Ariana Grande was cast, she would have been like "kill me...just kill me....I waited fifteen years for this??? Kill me!!" Which is like. Really funny. But it also made me think about how she must have felt during that time. Knowing that Glinda has been her dream role since she was a kid, knowing that she put everything into those auditions, knowing that she worked tirelessly to make something good, I can't imagine what it must have been like to have the whole world tell you that you're a terrible choice for the role and you don't deserve it. I would have been devastated I think. But then again, Ariana Grande has already been through the ringer so maybe it didn't bother her at all.
Anyway, she was a fantastic Glinda. I'm genuinely happy for her in accomplishing her dream.
Ans I hope she can only go up from here. I hope she reflects the character she plays and continued to grow and improve as a person and doesn't prove that she'd just as willingly go back to scummy actions if that was what suited her. I would like to believe she's better than that now but only time will tell I guess 🤷🏻♀️
Sorry this is a lot of words. I'm really not good at expressing my points properly without a lot of rambling.

Cult Classic
I'm gonna go along with this; (posted by @khaoskrakenart)
So without a futher ado, here's my take at the first prompt: Cult Classic Movie
1. Cult Classic Movie
"I have one thing to say, and that's dammit Janet, I love you." Brad sung, taking Janet by the hands, the staple love song of Rocky Horror Picture Show, played on the screen on the television that sat in Danny's living room.
"Dude, why are we watching Rocky Horror Picture Show?" Tucker finally asked, looking at Danny, who was staring at the screen.
"I dunno, ask Sam." Danny answered, glancing over to Sam, who seemed very invested in the movie.
"Hey! Rocky Horror is a cult classic!" Sam argued, turning to face the two boys. "Don’t be so critical of it, especially when crap like Mean Girls or Legally Blonde exists."
"They're all just cheesy musicals to me." Tucker said with a shrug, leaning against the couch. "You got anything, buddy?" He added, looking at Danny.
"I mean, it's entertaining, isn't it?" Danny added, not having any real opinion on this. "Besides, it could be worse. It could be a Christmas movie."
"Which can also be considered as cult classics." Sam corrected.
"Uh-huh." Danny dryly replied, leaning against the arm rest of the couch, when suddenly his ghost sense went off.
"You gonna be back before the movie ends?" Sam asked, catching Danny’s ghost sense.
"Uh-" Danny began, being cut off by a loud "Beware!" coming somewhere outside his house. "Yes."
"Cool, see you then." Sam acknowledged, looking back at the T.V as Danny went ghost.

elle woods and emmet forrest. thats it. send post. nevermind i need to talk about them because OH MY
they help each other’s development; supporting and offering genuine advice and a shoulder (one with a big chip in it) to lean on. like emmet didn’t and doesn’t judge her based solely on her appearance (when she was in costume, the ‘bend and snap’)(“cause you saw beyond all the blonde to my mind”) and was a constant source of reliability for elle (in callahan’s (FUCK HIM) class when she got kicked out, after the ‘costume’ party, during thanksgiving and christmas break, in the trial, basically throughout the whole musical and more). and elle listened to him (his advice, his story, his compliments) and in turn let him relax (red bull and department stores for life) and stay true to himself (during the trial; of valuing your client’s trust). they share in their successes (he shares the toast made to him because, yeah, she’s the one who found out the dude’s gay); a duet, not a solo. never stealing the spotlight from the other (“why are you always right?” “you’re a genius!” “why do you always have to be right?”) , instead pushing to be the best versions of themselves together.
they built a friendship (“you trust me, don’t you?” “of course”) before anything (“you are the best thing here”), removing rose-colored glasses or fantasized versions of each other. throughout the musical, you’ll notice as they grow closer together— through time, touches, jokes (“you butthead”), and song— and it’s natural, not rushed. they have a handshake (CUTE). unlike elle towards warner, she doesn’t try to impress or prove anything when she’s around emmet; she’s just herself and more. like emmet is aware of elle’s plan to get warner back, and he doesn’t sugarcoat or feed into it, instead inspiring her to follow through in her studies as she gains a passion for law (tap tap tap on her shoulder “woah! is that my name up on that list?”). and elle knows of his aspirations and drive to make it in life, and she believes in him (“the outside is new. but now it reflects whats already inside you”)!
they don’t pressure each other (even when she’s leaving). when the other’s close to the edge, it’s comfort offered and belonging reassured. in fact they constantly back the other up with positive words (if i had a shot for each time they complimented or smiled wide at each other i’d be dead on the floor) and a hand to support (emmet HELD HER HAND it was very dark but i SAW IT did nobody else see it. DID U SEE IT PLS TELL ME U DID).
the entire song of ‘Legally Blonde’ (which i have on REPEAT). elle has lost faith (in herself; in all she’s achieved so far) but emmet hasn’t (“that’s ludricous”), in fact his faith in her has strengthened as well as his feelings (im BLUSHING). he doesn’t question elle for a second, instantly on her side and there for her. he doesn’t tell her he loves her— she just went through a traumatic experience; kissed by a man she thought her mentor— wishing instead he showed it more, and showing it still as he asks—begs— her to stay. and elle; she’s losing hope on her dream, one that used to be solely for love but grew into a determination to fight. talking about going back home, living life as the blonde people see her as. (“some girls fight hard. some face the trial. some girls were just meant to smile.” but she has. she has done all!!) (“i need you to stay”)
and when she comes back (!!!) he immediately lets go of callahan ((FUCK callahan) what he’s worked three years for) and supports her. (“did you actually think i was gonna let you get away?” SIR??). as she fights for the case, he’s there ready to reassure elle because she can do this.
warner’s proposal (can this guy not not propose); she’s focused on her career now (‘serious’), she found a love for it! and even though the reason she entered harvard because of her love for warner, she made it through with the love surrounding (her friends; the greek chorus, paulette, her family) and growing around her (emmet forrest. the law students that stood by her). and i love that they handled and talked it out maturely, there’s no hate or anything untoward. and (“so many dreams to earn”) she’s reaching for dreams now, continuing her story outside of him, outside of being ‘blonde’. and she’s not gonna give up; she’ll earn it, striving hard towards her new goal.
and, of course, the end. elle is our valedictorian (congrats I LOVE U ELLE WOODS) and we see how the people in her life grew as well, not just her! they all empowered each other!! AND THE. AND THE PROPOSAL (ms woods comma elle my poor heart can only take so much please) (third time IS the charm). she takes initiative, she’s the one asking on one knee. and she’s in her graduation robe; not an engagement outfit or anything. it shows her; her life, her self, what she values!! (and they are SO CUTE. oh my god ohmigod you guys).
(unrelated: i love that they all have pink on them at the end!)
(unrelated unrelated: i adore the actors all of them. every facial expression, vocal delivery, movement or dance (the footwork on “little miss woods comma elle” OKAY), literally Everything i adore this cast. i love elle and emmet’s noses By the way)
anyway, rant over. elle woods and emmet forrest. send post!
#spoilers#lots of them#and an excessive amount of parenthesis#sorry…….. i get to be a long talker once every many months so her eu go#idk if its cohesive or even correct. i watched the musical once. today. a few hours ago.#legally blonde#legally blonde the musical#elle woods#emmet forrest

Dylan Mulvaney and Phillip Picardi on Girlhood, Content Creation and More at Teen Vogue Summit 2023
The panel included reflection on Mulvaney's exponential success, future dreams and status as an “it girl.”
BY TEEN VOGUE
NOVEMBER 18, 2023
Performer, model, and content creator Dylan Mulvaney took Teen Vogue Summit 2023 stage for an in-depth conversation moderated by Chief Marketing & Communications Officer of the Los Angeles LGBT Center and founder of them Phillip Picardi.
Formerly, Picardi made history as Teen Vogue's first male beauty editor and later went on to become the Chief Creative Officer of the publication. He returned to celebrate Teen Vogue's 20th birthday in an engaging conversation with Mulvaney, discussing the changing media landscape, representation for transgender youth, and more.
Mulvaney rose to fame in March 2022 — a little over 600 days ago — when her “Days of Girlhood” series went viral on TikTok. In these video diaries, Mulvaney tells viewers all about her daily life as a trans woman, encompassing everything from dealing with prejudice to buying clothes and loving Twilight. Since then, she's taken the world by storm, appearing in major brand campaigns and walking the runway at New York Fashion Week.
With Teen Vogue Summit 2023 being centered around dreaming your future, Mulvaney took the stage to discuss her prosperous career and what it's like being a content creator who shares stories of trans joy. Revisiting Mulvaney's original post documenting her first day of girlhood, she said, “In that first video, I just remember hoping that ppl could see my intentions were good and i was the truest version of myself and I was ready to learn.”
Today, Mulvaney confirmed she's set to release a number of projects in new fields. Some plans she teased to the Teen Vogue Summit audience included acting and writing a book. This news comes after a tumultuous year for Mulvaney, who revealed that the hardships she faced this year have influenced her upcoming works.
“I think that is the one piece of this whole last year; I rushed a lot of things. I talked about a lot of things really fast and I think there were some little minute details that got lost in the mix and I'm doing those now,” Mulvaney said.
Mulvaney also revealed some dream projects she'd love to work on in the future, including a romantic comedy centered around transgender people finding love and success as well as a rendition of the musical Legally Blonde with transgender people. She explained that she believes that audiences seeing transgender people in these scripted roles will teach others how to love and support transgender people as well.
Mulvaney also discussed being in the fashion and beauty space. She noted that she's become more experimental with her style over the years, a major step from her traditional upbringing and past reservations. “I was so scared of being seen as a predator or all the things they were projecting on us... now, I feel like I’ve given myself permission to go there,” she says.
Content creation will also continue to be a priority for Mulvaney. Speaking to the audience, Mulvaney explained how she balances the pros and cons of the digital landscape. Some steps she said she would be taking included continuously creating content efficiently but tactfully, making meaningful friendships with other creators, carefully choosing who she collaborates with in the future, and more.
While Dylan Mulvaney and Philip Picardi kicked off the day with such an insightful discussion, it was just the first of many exciting panels to come at Teen Vogue Summit 2023. If you're not able to attend in person, don't worry because we have got you covered. You can livestream the event and keep refreshing teenvogue.com for more live updates.
OK not to be mean for the sake of being mean but this dude is 26.
No actual woman who looked like that at 26 would be featured in a Teen vogue summit.

I saw a local production of Legally Blonde the Musical today!
One of the local high schools in my city (my old school's "rival" in fact haha) is doing a production of Legally Blonde, and I went to see it today! I'm a huge lbtm fan, but this was my first time seeing a live production, and it was honestly very good!! I am very passionate about the door discourse so I was highly anticipating that moment in the ballad. And this production passed the test! As soon as I saw that they were wheeling out the door during that number, I was silently freaking out to my friend haha. Anyway here are some other random notes/thoughts that I had about the production:
Real dogs! Rufus was a golden retriever, and when he came out, the show paused for a bit bc of the applauding haha. Rufus also listened to Kyle's command to sit which was quite cute haha A HUGE ensemble (it's high school so it makes sense). But they bring back the ensemble for like every possible song Elle was great - she used some vibrato and trills during her solos. Most of So Much Better was kinda a mess (backing music/ensemble not really lining up well), but OMIGOD she held out that last note just like LBB did on bway so huge props to her! Warner was a good singer not as strong as the other leads but he has the best expression/acting choices - more on that later Serious: they didn't do the accidental proposal pose which I thought was a missed joke The violinist during Serious walked back out with some great sad acting after Elle left before playing the last notes of the song (I thought that she was someone from the orchestra but they were actually part of the ensemble so that was cool!) What You Want: Elle's white outfit was cute!! They used the "Jet Blue" line! The actors' school photos for the Elle x Warner poster which I thought was funny haha Harvard variations: they got rid of Sandeep's character so the song was shorter Aaron Sholtz and Enid Hoops were played by butch actors which was cool! Bruiser now loves the Bachelor Emmett - the actor playing him (who my sister knew from elementary school) is such a perfect emmett! Looks exactly like how one would imagine him haha Background acting: Emmett introducing himself to the students and shaking their hands while Elle and Vivienne had their first interaction in class Blood in the water: Callahan was also a very good singer. I think this was one of the strongest number of the show. They also added grey to his hair He was kinda touching Enid during his lines with her but she kept on pushing his hand away from her - foreshadowing! Paulette was amazing!!! I think she might be my favorite actor in the show. She sounds EXACTLY like Orfeh did on bway. Also asian representation!! Ireland - she killed it obviously - seriously amazing!! (though she did accidentally came in early at one part). The lyrics are different from the bway version though (they were about her grandpa) Playboy bunny costume - they added a little tutu to it which was cute! Enid sat near them near the end of this scene (in preparation for Elle stealing her glasses). She tries to drink from a bottle but Warner took it away from her and drank it instead Chip On My Shoulder: Elle wears Emmett's jacket! Emmett saying he hadn't slept since 1998 killed me bc this kid is definitely younger than me haha Elle and Emmett don't do any secret handshakes though :( Elle sat next to Warner during her squealing exit and I loved that so much haha Reclaiming Rufus scene: Elle ran back on stage and threw her arms around Emmett and Paulette - I am here for this trio friendship When Dewey re-exited the trailer and saw Elle, he twirled his long hair
So Much Better, as I said before, was sadly not the strongest number but I do like that Elle's parents appear offstage when she called them. And Elle held out that last note!! Once again no Elle x Emmett secret handshake :(
(Part 2 will continue in a reblog bc apparently I hit the character limit LOL)

When it all changed - Lukadrien June 2024 Day 1
So I know I technically posted something for Day 1 of @lukadrienmonth but I had written that on my phone, the day of my college reunion when we were all walking around and doing things. I had the hardest time coming up with an idea and I thought the 9-1-1 au would work, but I actually hated it. It didn't have much Lukadrien in it and didn't really feel like it fit the prompt. I thought this went a little better. It's a Legally Blonde au and it's most based off the musical than the movie, which kinda felt fitting. I found the MTV showing of it on the day of my graduation after I got home and this is a fic I'd been working on the day of my reunion. Anyway, Emmett is more present in the musical, helping Elle with tutoring and studying, basically supporting her as she works her way into being a lawyer while also letting her support him in being a good lawyer. I thought since he'd oringally been so focused on making a good impression and doing well enough to work hard for his mom, that Elle's apperance in his life would of been the, well, start of a whole new look on life. Not to mention it being Elle's start on seeing herself as more than just her blonde hair. And as such, we get this. Hopefully you guys like this more. Start of something new
“Welcome to the hallowed halls of Harvard Law. I’m Luka Couffaine, class of the odd 5. I know how hard all of you worked to get here, so why don’t we go around the circle and introduce ourselves?”
Three years ago, Luka was sitting where these guys where, terrified that giving up music was the worst mistake of his life but after hearing how his mom almost made it through law school when she became pregnant with him and watching her stand up for herself against the ticket loving officer in France, Luka wanted to prove himself. People looked at their family, willing to break the rules and supporting each other and thought they’d never amount to anything. Luka was this close to become partner at Barbot’s firm and fully graduating as a lawyer. Being a TA was hard work, not to mention his part time jobs just so his father wouldn’t pay his loans but if he stuck to his routine, it would be ok. Everything would fall into place.
“Hi! Sorry I’m late!” a new voice yelled, interrupting Alya’s long resume of accomplishments – and possible lawsuits, how did she get away with half that stuff?
Americans considered themselves to be contained compared to all the international admissions, but this guy? The wildest thing Luka did was dye his hair blue. The blonde in front of them was dressed, quite fashionably, in pink. Somehow he managed to find a pink Harvard shirt and his newspaper boy hat was a shade of pink plaid Luka hadn’t seen before, not even from Rose. The strangest thing was the long-haired black cat tucked under his arm. Like most cats, he was boneless but not squirming an inch, tail twitching and purring loud enough Luka could hear him from where he sat
Luka didn’t know it then but, that boy was about to change his routine, his constant, his life.
Agreste, Adrien, like most of the students in his orientation group, was from France but he’d been living in the US to attend UCLA. He’d been accepted into top school in France and even Cambridge in England, but Adrien claimed he wanted a different experience. With a fashion designer father and actress mother, no one really told him no. he boasted about being the only male to be allowed in Delta Nu and was president and actually founded a charity for kids to gain an opportunity to go school despite their circumstance called Black Cats. And oh, of course, stopped Mireille Caquet from buying a ‘truly heinous tube top.’ Luka also found out –
“Wait, wait, wait. You caused the campus to close down for half an hour? Security was scrambling all over looking for someone, that was you?”
Adrien shrugged, not looking at all bothered. “Well, I thought my personal essay would be better given in person, instead of my original idea of filming it.”
“And they still let you in?” Alya asked, Prince Ali and even XY looking surprised.
“Well, they didn’t love the singing and dancing,” they didn’t like what? “But! Once I reminded him that getting the whole UCLA marching band and most of the cheer team to come help because of the type of person I saw, they decided to give me a chance. I was homeschooled until I ran away from home enough to just attend school once. I’m stubborn.”
Adrien was, something. A bit ditzy and a little naïve and focused on one girl, Kagami Tsurugi. The teachers had high hopes for her, her own father a famous graduate and when her family weren’t destroying opponents in fencing, they were running Japan as politicians. She could have looked annoyed when she saw Adrien in class with her, more so when he’d been hearing that the girl had a very jealous girlfriend ready to use her claws, but he’d heard the most surprising thing from her.
“Who is he?” Luka asked, after giving Adrien his syllabus for the class.
“My ex. Last I saw him, we were visiting family in France before Spring Break started.”
“Huh.” He said surprised. “he’s either a stalker or determined.”
“He’s actually one of the sweetest people I’ve ever met. The fact my family didn’t like him was I thought the most surprising part, but clearly, I’ve underestimated him. I’m almost looking forward to seeing the look on my mother’s face.”
Most people didn’t look proud of their Exes. Not that it lasted long. Adrien had gotten kicked out of Barbot’s class for not doing the reading, putting him on Marinette’s radar to stay away from her girlfriend, which started a trend. Adrien falling behind, despite how much he seemed to be trying, snarky comments not just from Marinette but everyone who thought the boy who loved pink didn’t belong and the bright smile Adrien had slowly growing dimmer. Plagg, Adrien’s cat, was becoming more of a security blanket than the only animal brave enough to climb onto Barbot’s table and not move after being shoved to go away.
So, Luka didn’t think much of it when he found Adrien crying on a bench on campus after another late night in the library and asked what was wrong. He’ll admit, he was surprised Adrien actually admitted he came to Harvard to follow Kagami, but he was also happy to hear that he wasn’t blind to how his school life had been going.
“So, you came out here to follow a girl and Harvard Law was just part of the plan? What rich romantic planet are you from?” he asked jokingly, pushing the bunny ears further up on Adrien’s head. Luka didn’t want to look in too deep as to why Adrien was dressed as a male Playboy bunny, just thankful he decided to wear a shirt in the East Coast fall weather.
“France? Technically.”
“SO, instead of walking through Parisian streets by the Eiffel Tower, you decide to just follow a girl to an Ivy League school? That’s got to be the weirdest reason-”
“Why’d you come?”
Luka had only ever said it once, during his own orientation. Despite being born in France like Adrien, he’d lived in the States his whole life, so his group had been bigger and most of them had zoned out by the time he spoke.
“Ok.” Luka dropped his bag on the bench and tugged his jacket off, putting it on Adrien’s shoulders. “My mamman was supposed to graduate from law school, but she dropped out to have me. It wasn’t part of my grandparent’s deal with her and when she wouldn’t go back after my first year to finish, they cut her off. So, she moved us here, not wanting anything to do with my dad. She almost got back together with him, but he never changed and he just left her with my sister. Life was hard growing up, but she worked hard to give us what we need, even after my sister’s anxiety got worse and my empathic nature made it hard for me to be around people. Thing was, she’s always been a rebel, so she’s gotten into trouble with the police. Mamman was top of her class though, so she could run rings around them but enough cop cars stopping by and a concerned social worker is enough to start rumours. People thought we wouldn’t amount to anything and I was getting so tired of people saying that to the person who gave everything up to be happy. So, I was going to prove them I could follow in her footsteps and still be better than all of them. when I win my first lucrative trail and can move us back to France so she can get the houseboat she always wanted, that’s when it’ll be worth it. I got through 3 years of law school with two jobs to pay for loans, so you’ll forgive me for not weeping at your tale.”
“Excuse me, just because you have some chip on your shoulder,” Adrien started.
“Yeah, and that chip has been the thing to help me through this and makes me driven as hell. Adrien, you’ve been given a chance most people dream of so don’t waste it. in fact,” he said, standing up and pulling his bag back on his shoulder, “think about getting a chip of your own. I want my jacket back.”
He’d given advice before, helped bolster a bit of encouragement into a student, maybe no one like Adrien, but it felt like routine at this point. Nothing should have changed.
Adrien got into Harvard after dragging a marching band and cheerleaders into the admissions office. Luka was starting to learn it was nearly impossible to not get drawn into what Adrien’s world was. So much so, that he was as surprised as his mother was when he told her what he was doing.
“Did you get my package for thanksgiving?”
Luka unlocked the door to his apartment with said package under his arm, using his foot to shut the door behind him.
“Yeah. I thought you weren’t planning on sending anything.”
“Thank Rose. Got flirted by some rich kid. A prince apparently, but he got so enamoured by her, he didn’t care she was dating your sister. Something about how he’ll be back in his country with armoured cars, so might as well make all the pretty girls happy with whatever they want?”
Luka was sent back to the first day of classes when he heard those words. “What’s his name? the ‘prince’?”
“Alibaba? No, that’s a website.”
“Ali. Prince Ali. Was Rose near campus? He goes here.”
“Oh.” His mother sounded surprised, but Luka was used to Rose doing odd things. She was a ray of sunshine dating his shadow of a sister, taken in by their pirate mother. “She was looking for you actually. Wanted to ask for a book to be held at your job and you almost never answer your phone unless you call first so. Where were you Tuesday? She thought you’d be at the library or grading papers.”
“Ah. I was helping tutor someone.”
“You?”
That wasn’t an insult. Luka was a nice person who gave encouragement but he had little patience for teaching people. He tried with Juleka, who snapped at him as much as he did her and the few times he tried during school to try and get paid for it, it ended up with him being paid to do the work because he’d become short with whoever he was teaching.
“There’s this student, a freshman. He’s…different.”
“Different enough that your tutoring him?”
He hadn’t planned it. Adrien dragged him back into conversation that night by asking for advice on how he managed to do it all during his first years, not that he seemed to listen as his main focus was trying to prove he was serious. He’d been invited back to Adrien’s room – all brightly coloured can slightly covered in black cat hair – and when Adrien admitted to studying magazines more than his text books, he sort of, snapped. He thought dismantling the desk turned vanity would annoy Adrien enough that he wouldn’t even try but even with a bit of groaning, Adrien still unearthed his textbooks and let Luka help him. Instead of heading to the library after Barbot’s classes, he’d find himself with Adrien, either dragging him to the library with him, admitting defeat and going to a coffee shop on occasion or to Adrien’s room. Being at his room meant sharing the new desk space with Plagg, Adrien’s cat and quizzing Adrien as he became as addicted to Redbulls as Adrien was. Whenever Adrien had essays or readings, Luka would still find himself in the dorm room working on his own work for classes or whatever Barbot dropped in his lap for work.
He hadn’t realised he’d fallen into new habits since meeting Adrien. It probably explained why when he went to their next study session, after he convinced Adrien to skip going home for Thanksgiving, that he took the whole package his mother had sent him and pushed back their normal video call where he’d eat the food sent with them.
“What’s this?” Adrien asked pulling out the half-thawed pieces of turkey and artichoke dip.
“I know you wanted to see your friends, so I thought we should at least feast on the classics. Unless you were heading home to France and want foir gros.”
“Gross.” Adrien said, scrunching his nose. He looked a picture, dressed down in an oversized pink UCLA hoodie and pyjama pants covered in anime characters. “I hate foir gros. To be honest, I hadn’t decided where I was going. I just planned on figuring it out when I got to the airport. Oh, don’t look at me like that. We don’t celebrate thanksgiving in France but I have good memories of it. one of my older sorority sisters invited me my first year. It was a massive thing, somehow missing all the trashy drama that happens now, but they let me join in their traditions, we watched the Addams Family movies and just eat the food. France just has my family. Though, dad is paying for me to come here, even after he didn’t think I should. I know most of my family doesn’t think I’m all that serious, even after what I did just to go to school in person with people and I’d like to prove to them I am. But they still believed in me. All I had to do was ace the LSATs and all years were paid. I guess passing my first year would prove to them they made the right choice.”
“You will.” Luka promised. “Now, we can steal the oven in the kitchen to warm the food up while I quiz you on famous cases. Remember, Barbot is going to have you justify your case for your test. Think you can keep up?”
Adrien looked nervous, but like everything else – except for when he’d broken down on that bench that fall night – he looked determined.
“I can do it.”
_____________________
The crush? That started to clue in later. His mother would tease him whenever he mentioned he’d been with Adrien, which was nearly every day when he wasn’t busy. The holidays had thankfully slowed the office as many gave up high profile cases for vacations in warmer weathers but Luka filled the time off he’d been given with more shifts at his jobs, going over Adrien’s work and slowly getting Adrien to realise that his desire to get Kagami’s attention was doing more harm than good.
It had clicked for the blonde when Luka came to drop off his present. It had been a joke, the 2-in-1 shampoo and conditioner, mostly to see the disgusted and horrified look on his face when Luka mentioned he used it.
“you have coloured hair! You recently coloured it too.” Luka hadn’t expected Adrien to dig his hands into his hair, messing up his bangs and causing them to fall into his eyes. “how on earth do you use that stuff and your hair is this soft?” Luka should have picked up on something when he noticed that Adrien’s hands, whenever they passed over his ears, were really soft. “You are joking right? Luka, I swear if this is what you actually use.”
Someone clearing their throat reminded them they weren’t alone. Luka pulled Adrien’s hands away to look at the guy smirking at them from Adrien’s bed. “Don’t mind me, just enjoying the show.”
“Ah. Right. Luka, this is Max. he graduated from MIT early and works at the nail salon I go to.”
“Right. With the miniature horse.”
“He’s a trained therapy animal.” Max reassured. Honestly, Luka was doing criminal and divorce law, that was not his problem. “I was helping Adrien study. I think I’ll head out though. Nice to finally meet you Luka. Adrien mentions you all the time.”
“Nothing bad!” Adrien assured as Max disappeared doing something behind Luka’s head that he barely caught. “But seriously, you were joking right?”
“Adrien?” Kagami asked, knocking on the door. The blonde ripped his wrists from Luka’s hands and smiled at his ex. “have you gotten the email from Barbot yet? I wanted to print off the reading he wants us to do to read on the plane home and I still haven’t seen anything.”
“I, uh,” Adrien giggled. “I…um?”
Luka decided to help him out. “I send the readings out. Barbot hasn’t sent me the original documents he wants. It’ll be out soon.”
Kagami seemed surprised to see him there, glancing at Adrien before nodding to herself. She looked set on something before offering her thanks and leaving, Adrien still as incoherent as he’d been when she walked in. he knew this is why Adrien wasn’t doing so well, focused on getting Kagami’s attention. Why it filled him with such hot rage, he had no clue. Watching Adrien put the pieces together and actually win his practise case was amazing, more so when Barbot seriously accepted Adrien’s resume for his internship, even printed on pink paper and scented. When Adrien was one of the 4 names, Luka couldn’t be prouder.
He could have done without him deciding to be a trustworthy lawyer to their client Clara Nightengale by keeping her alibi secret and not budging for anyone. Not even him. It somehow then evolved into Adrien dragging him shopping.
“I don’t need a new suit.” He tried protesting as the entered the department store.
“Luka,” Adrien turned, looking odd in the black suit he was in. it was the first time he wasn’t in any sort of pink. “I know you’ll find a way of winning this without Clara’s alibi or a plea deal, not to mention doing the one thing you’re trying to avoid.”
“Which is?”
“giving people what they want. Luka, come on, you became a lawyer because everyone thought you’d amount to nothing and that your mother was the same. The same woman who raised you to be a rebel and do the right thing.”
“How is clothes going to help with that?”
Adrien actually giggled and bounced in place at the question. “clothes help paint the picture. I love your jean jackets and ripped jeans and I know you’re an amazing lawyer but looking the part would be a massive help in showing what you can do. I know you’re amazing. Now we just need to show everyone else. Come on! god, I love shopping for guys!”
Since dawning the black suit, Adrien seemed to be hiding but the whole experience made him look like the naive freshman who graduated UCLA to follow a girl he’d moved on from. Silly as it sounded, it was the side of Adrien he loved. He didn’t do this, get so involved with a student that they became his best friend, that he wanted to gain their approval, that they’d be so concerned over him not going back on his morals just to gain the approval of a boss to make his life easier.
“Love? It’s the new scent from Calvin Klein.” A department associated offered.
He didn’t fall in love.
But since that first day, where Adrien rushed over to their group decked in pink and carrying Plagg, full of tales and anecdote, unwilling to give up no matter how hard, Luka’s whole life had changed. There was a new routine, a new path. That first day was the start of something new he was never expecting.
And he wouldn’t change it for the world. The things that almost made him lose him after, that he would, but considering it got Adrien back into his signature pink plus bonus heels – a sight that would never get old – he couldn’t be too upset.

Hi! Ya I totally agree that festivals are probably exhausting especially if you went to all days. I've always kinda wanted to go to one though and I like that there are a lot of different artists. I've always wanted to go to Outsidelands or maybe Coachella one day just to see what it's like and for the experience so it's still cool that you got to go! I'd be worried about the weather too.
So music for me is a lot easier than watching TV shows. I try to and basically listen to everything cuz I like all genres and always listen to new music. I am pretty familiar with most artists. If you recommend some artists you like, I will definitely check them out and add it to my long list haha. So I like everything but my favorite artists are the ones who I've loved for a long time and sometimes kinda from the beginning of their career. My top two are Taylor and Twenty One Pilots though..for their music, and being in the fandom, which are the only two that are like that where I'm obsessed and know a lot about them. Taylors my favorite and they are my sister's favorite. Then Paramore and a Canadian artist called Lights are two more I've been a fan of since like 2009. Then other alternative or emo bands like MCR, Panic at the Disco and Fall Out Boy..but it's not really my everyday music anymore. My favorite kind of music is alternative. I'm also a big fan of The Smiths and The Cure's music and the guitar in their music and their lyrics. Best Coast and Soccer Mommy are two other artists where I love pretty much every single song from them and some of my favorite artists ever now..and I was also kind of a fan from the beginning. The lead singer of Best Coast actually just put out her own solo album last week so that's something I've been playing recently. I also love all of Hayley Williams solo music and Best Coast and Soccer Mommy are kinda similar to Paramores music if that helps. I also like Beabadoobee who opened for Taylor too. I'm also a fan of pop music..and any like singer songwriter girl I will pretty much check out. I loved Carly Rae's last albums and Tori Kelly just put out an EP. I've been a fan of Kelly Clarkson for a long time too and her last album was so good. I'm also a fan of anyone from 1D. I like Sabrina, Gracie, Maisie, and anyone who Taylor recommends usually, like Haim and Phoebe too. I'm excited for Olivia Rodrigo and Holly Humberstone's albums. I also love Broadway and musicals a lot lol. Also Jeremy Jordan is in a band now called Age of Madness and I liked every song from the EP. The only genre I don't really care for is EDM Rap or country..but I still enjoy girl country artists too.
The Barbie house recreated on stage would be so amazing!!! That's so cool that you talked about Smash with someone while you were there haha. I loved the music on the show and omg I forgot about the Bombshell musical. The only thing I kinda knew about the Some Like it Hot musical besides the Tony wins and the plot from the movie was apparently they reused the song Lets Be Bad in the show.
.I think Newsies would be such a cool show to watch live and I like all of the casts too anyway. I missed Waitress on tour but I would have wanted to see that one too. It's another show where all of the cast is good but each performer makes the character a little different. I liked Jessie, Sara, Katharine McPhee and Nicolette too from clips I saw. Drew Gehling and Jeremy were the best Pommaters to me. I wonder who was the cast for the proshot and when it was coming out.
The Notebook musical sounds interesting though with the sets and stuff. Hopefully they can improve it when it does come to Broadway. Movie adaptations are always kinda tricky or cash grabby too, and then it's hard to put songs in or they end up forgettable..or they change it a bit from the original movie .Something like The Bands Visit, Legally Blonde, Waitress, and Beetlejuice and Moulin Rouge are ones I thought worked pretty well. Also did you hear about or what are your thoughts on the new Gatsby musical? It's starring Jeremy Jordan and Eva Noblezada!!!
hellooooo friend! i was telling everyone i know that i'll never do another music festival again, but then my best friend was like "wait but i really want to go to one someday" so i guess i am going to at least one more music festival in my lifetime. the things we do for the people we love! i think outside lands might be chiller than lolla, so i'm thinking i might do that with her at some point depending on the lineup? the lineup this year looks really good; i was looking at it a while ago before landing on lolla — there's a bit of overlap with lolla artists (including my girl holly!!) but there's also conan gray, who i'd love to see live, and inhaler (who i saw live earlier this year), and samia (who i wish i'd gotten to see earlier this year, but things just didn't quite work out). music is also easier for me than tv shows! especially since i can listen to them while i work! i like beabadoobee — she was fun to see live at lolla! she's actually coming to seattle in a few days i think, but i decided to pass on her concert just because i've spent too much money lately (especially on live music). i'm so so excited for holly humberstone, i feel like i've been waiting on her debut for ages. some other people i've been listening to lately are: griff, grace enger (who is opening for maisie on her us tour; her album just came out yesterday), cate canning, gretta ray (who has an album out next week), claire rosinkranz (who opened for maisie's aftershow), the japanese house, renee rapp, charli xcx, haim, muna, lily kincade, clairo, isabel pless, del water gap, lizzy mcalpine, etc.! i had no idea that jeremy jordan is in a band now; i'll have to go look it up later! ooh i didn't realize that! i haven't kept up with SLIH at all but i've had friends go and say it was amazing, and the choreo was beautifully done! i just have not really been paying attention to broadway lately </3 i loveeee drew gehling's pomatter; i know some people think he got stale near the end but i was always charmed by him haha. i do have a soft spot for drew though because he was in roman holiday! i've seen links for the proshot floating around but i've never seen it; i really should sit down and watch it some day. ooh yes! all the ones you listed were great movie → musical adaptations, and i'd also add once, sing street, and amelie to list (among others)! i think it's just like ... the newer/more recent ones feel very ... underdone/cashgrabby/like they're just churning out musicals to have them if that makes sense? i am very intrigued about the gatsby musical, especially since there's two — it'll be a very "wild party" situation again i think! i'm very curious to see how jeremy jordan and eva noblezada play off each other (esp. since he's quite a bit older than her). i actually really love gatsby; my english teacher was phenomenal the year we read gatsby and made me really appreciate analyzing text/annotating/etc. more! i cannot waittttt to see the costumes and set (i'm a very visual person!) what about you? what do you think of it?

Amid missile strikes, being queer in Ukraine is defiance against Putin
As missiles rained down on Kramatorsk last night, killing nine people, including three children, and wounding at least 56 more (see more below), Kyiv did one of the things that Russian President Vladimir Putin hates the most: it celebrated the diversity of its LGBTQ+ community with the Sunny Bunny Film Festival, Ukraine’s first film festival dedicated to queer filmmaking.
The honorees of the Sunny Bunny Film Festival, with Monro second from right. (Christopher Allbritton)
It was a milestone for the flamboyant and attention-grabbing activist in Ukraine, which despite being more open than Russia, is still conservative when it comes to LGBTQ+ rights. “You’re the first to know!” she exclaimed about her name change, through her friend Vita, who translated.
Russia has elevated homophobia to state policy and even used the existence of people like Monro, 45, to justify its invasion. Russia has partly framed the war as a defense of “traditional values” from Western policies that “are directly leading to degradation and degeneration, because they are contrary to human nature.”
Meanwhile, Ukraine is debating a bill that would recognize civil partnerships, a step on the road to legalizing marriage between two people, regardless of their gender identity. Ukraine’s parliament also unanimously passed a bill on Dec. 15, 2022, banning hate speech against LGBTQ+ individuals in the country’s media.
It’s a reflection of what many Ukrainians believe the war is being fought for. On the one hand, Russia invaded and Ukrainians are defending their country. But the Ukrainians are defending more than their land. They are defending the right to have a more tolerant, progressive, democratic Ukraine emerge from the violence.
Monro poses outside the Zhovten Cinema where the Sunny Bunny film festival concluded. (Christopher Allbritton)
“I do see the changes,” Monro said. “The changes are happening. But I really wish the changes would happen outside Kyiv, throughout Ukraine.”
Monro says she proudly lives openly, and has for 24 years, and that she loves Ukraine — “Ukraine is a perfect country for my life.” But she also recognizes it has a long way to go.
“I understand this country now is not comfortable for LGBTQ+ people,” she said. “But everything is possible. We want so badly to live in a free country where our rights are respected. And not just LGBTQ — the rights of other minorities as well.”
She admits that one of the reasons she stays in Ukraine is because, “In Ukraine, I’m a superstar!” she says as a wide smile lights up her face. It’s obvious she loves being famous and the attention she gets when in public.
And she is striking: tall, slim, with cascading blonde locks, and with a small buzz of hangers-on surrounding her the entire time we spoke. In truth, she resembles Charlize Theron more than Marilyn Monroe, on whom she modeled her initial drag performer personality, but who could quibble?
She is a prolific video blogger on YouTube, where she dishes out fashion, lifestyle, and sex advice to her 95,600 subscribers. Her videos are an intimate glimpse into her life, with a charming and refreshing giving-no-fucks vibe.
A screenshot from a Youtube video posted by Monro.
In her early 20s, some friends introduced her to musical giants such as Elton John, which helped launch her career. She was soon working as a hostess and emcee at a gay nightclub in Kyiv called Freedom, according to a 2013 article in the Kyiv Post, and has since gone on to produce her own live theatre show. She has also found success as a TV and radio host.
Today, the full-fledged invasion by Russia has, somewhat ironically, boosted LGBTQ+ rights in Ukraine. “A lot of LGBTQ people went to serve in the military,” she said. “And we have many people coming out because of that, among the military, celebrities, public people.”
But the government, despite the draft civil partnership law, still doesn’t fully support the LGBTQ+ community, she said. “It doesn’t stop us,” she said. “But it doesn’t necessarily support us, either.”
“Our President Zelenskyy respondent to that petition [the draft civil law] and he supported it,” she said. “He was very” — and here she chose her words delicately — “diplomatic about it, but he did support it.”
The war has changed Ukraine and Ukrainians, sometimes for the better. For her, the war led her to discover who she truly is.
“For 22 years, I did drag,” she said. “I reached great heights through drag. I am the best in this country. … But when the war started, I realized this was the way to find myself, that I am transgender.”
“I’m just fucking amazing,” she says. “What can I say?”

Good morning to readers, Kyiv remains in Ukrainian hands. The Ukrainian counteroffensive progresses, Russia picks itself up after an attempted rebellion, and on the 27th anniversary of the Ukrainian constitution, Russia is killing Ukrainian children.
A missile struck a popular restaurant (Ross's favorite) in the city center of Kramatorsk yesterday evening, killing at least nine, including three children, and wounding at least 56.
Photo of the Ria restaurant, next to the Kramatorsk hotel, sent to Ross by one of his friends on the scene.
The strike whipped up a firestorm on Twitter and Telegram due to the large number of foreign military trainers, international journalists, and notable Ukrainians in the vicinity. A video posted by an international volunteer medical coalition portrays a glimpse of the carnage.
Liliia Trokymets, who was at the restaurant, posted harrowing images on social media immediately following the strike.
Wall Street Journal Yaroslav Trofimov minced no words.
Meanwhile, as more information about the Wagner rebellion trickles out of Russia, power could be shifting away from Putin. Putin's absence in the days following the insurrection, and his inability to prevent it, has seriously endangered his previously iron-tight grip on power.
Putin and Prigozhin's contradictory statements continue to work against them both. Prigozhin's announcement that the mutiny was halted to prevent Russian blood from being spilled, means far less against the backdrop of seven downed aircraft and 13 Russian pilots killed by Wagner in a single day.
"The people who were dragged into the rebellion saw that the army, the people were not with them," Putin announced to a cadre of his generals in a televised meeting earlier this week… totally ignoring the deluge posted online showing civilians in Rostov-on-don welcoming the Wagnerites in droves.
A young boy hugs a member of Wagner group in Rostov-on-Don, on June 24, 2023. (Photo by ROMAN ROMOKHOV/AFP via Getty Images)
Belarussian President Aleksandr Lukashenko's supposed mediation of the conflict has resulted in PMC Wagner camping out in his own backyard. "Do not make a hero out of me, neither of me nor of Putin nor of Prigozhin, because we let the situation slip from our hands, and then we thought that it would resolve itself, but it did not," he said yesterday.
A stateless, mercenary army is bivouacked on European soil. What is this the 1630s? Historical parallels aside, with Wagner now situated between him and Russia, Lukashenko's influence within Russian politics has likely deepened and he may have further strengthened his own position against Russian encroachment in Belarus.
Meanwhile, Ukraine is following the advice Napoleon gave to Marshal Soult: "When the enemy is making a false movement we must take good care not to interrupt him." According to the Institute for the Study of War, Ukrainian forces are capitalizing on Russia's recent chaos, and slowly pushing the invaders out around Bakhmut, Donetsk, and Zaporizhzhia.
The United Kingdom’s Ministry of Defence said that Ukrainian Airborne forces have advanced east towards Donetsk City, capturing territory from Russia’s proxies there for the first time since 2014 and pressuring the Chechen and so-called Donetsk People’s Republic forces in the area.
"At Krasnohorivka, as a result of a well-planned counterattack, our assault units took over several positions that had been held since 2014,” a spokesman for the defense forces said. “This is the so-called territory of the DPR, under Donetsk itself."

Hello everyone, Chris here. I hope you enjoyed my interview with Monro. As I mentioned in our previous newsletter, I’ve covered several conflicts over the past 20 years. But while the Russian invasion is one of the most brutal I’ve witnessed, I don’t think I’ve met more interesting people living through a more contradictory predicament than here.
In less than a week, I’ve interviewed a gang of role-players using their hobby as a way to find community and get through the dark days. I’ve been flirted with by fabulous LGBTQ+ activists like Monro. And I’ve seen the most idyllic scenes of peaceful urban living in the west of a country whose east is overridden by marauding invaders.
A moody Saturday in Lviv. (Christopher Allbritton)
The next day, was as clear and bright a day as one could imagine, and seemingly all of Lviv’s populace was out in the old city’s central park.
The song you’re hearing is Chervona Ruta, written by Volodymyr Ivasyuk in 1968. It is so popular (and uncopyrighted) that as I wandered around Lviv, I found no less than three busker groups playing this at the same time. Named for a mythical red flower, it is a popular Ukrainian folk song.
It’s hard not to hear the symbolism when the unified voices of the audience rise up in the song’s break. I know I talk a lot about defiance and resilience, but here, it’s real.
Of course, Lviv also provided the requisite “Old Guys Playing Chess on the Park Bench” and “A Young Girl Sits for Portrature” moments, too.
Old Guys Playing Chess on the Park Bench. (Christopher Allbritton)
Portraiture of a Young Girl. (Christopher Allbritton)
Several people have asked me if I feel safe in Kyiv. “I have confidence in the Ukrainian Armed Forces and American Patriot missile systems,” I reply. And it’s true. The combination of Ukrainian determination and training, along with Western military hardware does lend a real sense that the major cities, anyway, are relatively safe.
But last night’s missile attack on Kramatorsk was shocking. And it’s a reminder that while life goes on as “normal” in much of the country, the same can’t be said for the parts of Ukraine still occupied or within range of Russian artillery. And it makes me wonder how safe we really are here in Kyiv.
The scars of the last year’s Battle for Kyiv are still evident on the road from Lviv. Driving in, we saw the skeletons of buildings collapsed by fires caused by close combat in February last year. These remnants are disturbingly close to the capital.
A destroyed building seen through a shrapnel-torn metal fence just outside Kyiv. (Christopher Allbritton)
And just before you reach the Kyiv city limits, where the forest creeps up to the concrete, signs dot the highway’s shoulders, warning of Ukrainian minefields, laid in a successful bid to halt the Russian advances.
And yet, even among the destruction, there is beauty. We found our own Chervona Ruta blooming among the debris.
Life finds a way. (Christopher Allbritton)
I don’t want to minimize any death or misery the Ukrainians are suffering at the hands of a revanchist, imperial state. But it’s also important to remember that all wars end and there must be some light to look towards.
One of the lyrics of Chervon Ruta is “Мені квітку надії,” – I have a flower of hope. The Ukrainians have theirs.
Today’s Dog of War is Flika, the delightful companion of our colleague Myroslava.

happy halloween
summary: y/n surprises their bf with a cute and funny halloween costume (based on this tik tok)
note: it was a tie between all four boys, so i just included them all in some way.
“halloween is the one time of the year where girls can dress like a total slut and this is your costume?” your roommate complained, looking you up and down. “it’s funny. and cute,” you protested, adjusting the headband with white ears on your head. she rolled her eyes at you. “yeah but i thought we were doing legally blonde,” she interjected, crossing her arms. “nope sorry. plans changed,” you said, giving her a sickly sweet smile. “at least let me video. i want, no need, their reactions on camera,” she begged and you agreed because you did feel a tiny bit bad for ditching your original halloween plans.
the two of you showed up at the senior hockey house, costumes adorning your bodies. you opened the door, unphased by its unlocked state. “when should i record?” your roommate asked. “after we grab a drink and find them. there’s no need for the video to be super long,” you answered, shouting over the loud music.
“look, there they are! i’m getting my phone out,” she announced, pointing to the couch in the living room where they were all hanging around. you looked in their direction, meeting steve’s confused glance. you smiled and waved, gesturing for your friend to follow as you approached the group. “hi boys!” you cheered, taking the spot between steve and kent, the former pulling you into a side hug. “hi y/n,” they all replied with furrowed eyebrows and small frowns.
“i see you guys went as home alone, classic,” you observed, taking a small sip of your drink. “yeah. what’s your costume?” luke asked, a puzzled look remaining on his face. “i’m a puck bunny,” you answered, pulling out the random hockey puck you brought with you. you held it up, smiling widely, as if posing for an instagram picture. they all smiled, small suppressed laughs escaping their closed lips.
you were friends with the hockey team, best friends with them actually. so your costume choice was a no brainer, at least in your opinion. you were dressed in an adam banks mighty ducks jersey with heels and white bunny ears resting atop your head. it was meant to be a joke, mostly poking fun at the some times nasty things people said about you; proving to them that you didn’t give a fuck.
“it’s bad ass y/n. i love it,” kent explained, holding his fist out. “thanks kenny,” you replied, bumping fists with the blonde. the boys all continued to compliment your costume, some a little more than others.
“i think it’s funny. and you look cute,” steve mumbled, hand coming to rest at the bottom of your back. “thanks steve,” you acknowledged, a soft smile taking over your face. “he thinks you’d look cuter if you were wearing his jersey,” mark called out, causing both you and steve to blush a vibrant red. “shut up,” steve shouted, pulling you a little further into his side, but you didn’t really mind. besides, you needed at least one hockey player to fight off the icky guys tonight.

Security Breach Headcannons
A/n: these are just thoughts that came into my head the more I think about the characters in the game or at least the main four, I'm sure these are actually pretty decent compared to what I saw on other platforms. Like, when I was just browsing for fnaf content I saw quite a few content creators bashing certain characters in security breach like Monty or Vanessa and I know it shouldn't make me feel bad but like... They were straight up violent with the way they described them so I just want to get away from that and spread some positivity... Or at least the little bit of it that I have, anyways sorry to post this late, here you go!
(it bothers me that this image is so big.. )
Freddy Fazbear (Glamrock Vr. )
Freddy visits the daycare often to chat with Sundrop/Sunrise/Sun and interact with the the kids.
Freddy likes to make dad jokes from time to time but sometimes they don't land and he gets all huffy about it.
When no one's looking Freddy likes to play around the merchandise in the prize counters, he think they're neat.
When Freddy was first built he had a problem with getting cake jammed in his hatch so they had to resort to smaller cakes.
He likes to memorize the faces of the children he performs for, it makes him smile when he sees them come back to the Pizzaplex.
Freddy can't whistle properly dye to having fangs and not teeth like the old animatronics.
He likes to complement fanart no matter how bad the quality is, he thinks it's nice that someone went out of their way to draw him.
Montgomery Gator
Monty and GR!Bonnie actually get along great with eachother despite the popularity situation, they just hate being compared to each other.
The only reason Monty takes his anger out by trashing his room is because it reminds him too much of what he has to live up to despite being the "popular" animatronic.
Monty loves kids, although he's nervous to actually interact with them due to his aggressive nature.
Monty was originally supposed to play the drums but after an accident they decided he should play something more durable.
Glamrock Chica
GR!Chica actually takes her music career seriously despite how she can't sing well.
None of the Chicas like eachother and that's a damn fact, but GR!Chica just wants to rock out despite the conflict.
Since Chica's beak got broken, once they put it back on it wasn't as tightly attached as it used to be. Because of this every now and again she would twitch her beak out of sensitivity.
Chica loves to play DDR because it's fun to stop around without being told off for it.
Roxanne Wolf
Roxanne actually wanted to play the keyboard due to their original concept being a rock band but after some changes she got a keytar instead and she's pretty okay with it.
When given the time, Roxanne likes to watch beauty channels and listen to all of the drama online.
Despite being an animatronic Roxanne just can't help but howl at the moon sometimes (Moondrop sadly is a witness to this behavior).
Roxanne likes to take a bit of inspiration from movies like Mean Girls and Legally Blonde because she thinks it boost her confidence.
