Got an itch to play Sunless Sea again and it's always such an odd experience because. Like.

I know this game. Any other game, the level if knowledge and research I have put into this would make me a confident fucking master. And yet.

I can be reading text I've read dozens of times before and i still feel...not clueless, but absolutely off the mark. It all feels so familiar and yet I've never seen a victory condition. I've at least started pretty much every storyline but I'll still see something new each time I sink some time into it. I have a fucking JOURNAL of TRADE ROUTES and REQUIRED ITEMS and somehow that's only mildly helpful

That and the fact Fallen London's lore is so fucking batshit and honestly kind of hard to research (thr wiki's are frustratingly structured for me and the browser game is just. A bit inaccessible for me) means I can have a pretty solid understanding of what's going on in each port and what each faction is about and still ZERO FUCKING GRASP ON LITERALLY ANY PLOT

#to be clear! this is a big part of why i enjoy it #like...imo fallen london is kind of a perfect cosmic horror setting #bc you can learn everything there is to know and so much remains somewhat inscrutable #leaves me hungry for information which is a little frustrating but still enjoyable #also its so slow paced? so youre really left to juat kinda. stew in the atmosphere #anyway if anyones super familiar with it and wants to give me tips id love to talk about it asfgjgjf #im still trying to build up money early game #juat finished the salt lions and it seems the khanate has spawned on the fucking furthest north eastern corner #so i need to fucking find it so i can run the sun trade for a bit #sunless sea #also forgot you only get the sub unlocked in one playthrough so i gotta do that again #but tbh the unterzee stuff is what i know least about. ive done stuff here and there but not finished anything #i need to know what the deal is with the nook #also that fucking spider TERRIFIES me even tho its never caught me

#vashwood #vash the stampede #nicholas d. wolfwood #trigun #trigun maximum #nicolas d wolfwood #my spin on how they started to really fall for each other tbh..... i mean #my hc is that vash fell first --> hence ch 21 -- which is kind of funny bc they had a lot of back and forths and conflict between one anothe #but i Cannot be convinced otherwise that when vash woke up and saw wolfwood bedridden next to him #that expression alone was filled with so much worry and care and i think that feeling of gratitude and knowing wolfwood had survived pushed #the level of affection.... also those few chapters where theyre just hanging out in the ship honestly feels so domestic amongst everything #which is the kind of atmosphere where i think vash thrives upon the most and is able to feel #comfortable and open to relieve any inner buried feelings...#for wolfwood id like to think he always felt a little drawn to vash due to not only his mission but also bc vash Forces him to be worried #all the time so-- he's just always on the mind and coupled with their initial opposing ideologies #i think ultimately in ch 35 is when he stopped having any feelings of doubt in vash and caved to realizing that he /wants/ to protect him #and also just loves him. a lot!#anyway this is so gushy but i love them so much #these thoughts plague me #ruporas art

“requiem for methuselah” crazy ass episode for many reasons. Kirk is being fully insane, like I don’t actually think, even controlling for how quickly and easily and readily he seems to fall in love with anybody at the slightest encouragement, that he’d go that bonkers for that android woman he just met while everyone on the ship was this close to dying, but that’s neither here nor there, because in the background you’ve got an equally but much more subtly insane episode for Spock, who extremely uncharacteristically admits to experiencing an emotion (or nearly experiencing, whatever) and that emotion is ENVY of all things. And then spends the rest of the episode warning Kirk away from this new love interest (something that doesn’t usually happen, even when Kirk has very inadvisable love interests) and is, in the end, the person who accurately identifies that Rayna’s competing love for Kirk and Flint is ultimately what overwhelms and destroys her with the most killer line in maybe history???

And then to wrap it up we get an equally uncharacteristic sort of denouement scene (TOS loooves to cut an episode off right after the actual climax, leaving little time for falling action or character reflection, or to stick a sitcom-y button on the end where the gang all smiles and laughs at their misadventures and everything resets to zero, which is not a criticism, it’s just the style of that era of tv, honestly) where Kirk is literally miserable over Rayna’s death (again, kind of unusual for a lot of his love interests, he tends to be able to move on pretty quickly) and Spock goes to see him and he falls asleep right in front of Spock (also odd) and then when Bones comes in to give the final word on Flint, Spock waves him off from waking the Captain (tender) and Bones gives him that awful speech about how it’s sadder that Spock can’t even imagine the love Kirk felt for this random android woman than it is that Kirk lost her in the first place (debatable but also rude) and how his great tragedy is that he can’t love at all like they can and how all he wishes is that Kirk could forget about all of this and move on. AND THEN, to have Bones leave and Spock go over to Kirk and very gently, tenderly, reluctantly touch him and put his hand to his forehead and tell him to forget and HAVE THAT BE THE END OF THE EPISODE??? What am I supposed to do with that??

#‘the joys of love made her human. the agonies of love destroyed her’ hUH. What a cool line.#hope it doesn’t become some sort of��thesis statement for you or something SPOCK #listen my number one beef with the way they write bones is that they just make him completely mischaracterize everything to suit the plot #this man is not an idiot he KNOWS Spock has emotions and just suppresses them #you’re going to tell me he’s been on that ship with Spock for years and thinks he feels no love whatsoever for anyone???#like even after what happened in the empath and in that episode where McCoy thought he was dying #he knows Spock loves people!!! COME ON #does he really just mean romantic love?? that’s so boring WRITE HIM BETTER #also they’re banking a lot on people remembering what the Vulcan mind meld is for that last bit #like I know it comes up a lot but…this is 1968 or whatever. They don’t have this shit on dvd to rewatch #you’re counting on really dedicated fan memory here or on people catching reruns #because otherwise it just looks like Spock waiting to be alone to touch Kirk as tenderly as possible and pray he forgets this woman #truly what’s going on #anyway I kind of hated this episode #like quite frankly there was too much going on #are androids people? would Kirk fall in love that hard that quickly and choose it over the safety of his crew?#why wasnt the illness ravaging the crew a bigger deal??#they didn’t even get into WHY flint was immortal #he was just a regular human and apparently the ONLY one who was granted immortality by the earth’s atmosphere #leaving aside the very creepy and very early born sexy yesterday trope going on throughout #but it was a really good Spock episode if you just….dont look at anything else….#the writer for this one also did Day of the Dove and Mirror Mirror which explains a LOT #two other episodes that are interesting for the character dynamics but really chaotic plot wise #anyway imagine saying to Spock’s face that he has no idea what love can drive a man to do #one has to laugh #tos #star trek #as always…. I DONT WANT TO SEE VIKTORS GLORIOUS EVOLUTION . PLEASE DO NOT?? GLORIOUSLY EVOLUTE???

Ive been excited to see machine herald viktor since season 1 but . not like this!!!

See i would say this is just like the powder -> jinx transformation and his change is inevitable it’s a tragedy so I shouldn’t feel too upset but. But. There’s a difference in the character arcs which just makes me all the more uneasy

I love powder, but I think arcane’s story functions primarily with jinx in mind. we only ever got to see powder three episodes out of two entire seasons—her character is essentially baked from the beginning to be jinx. The story is more interesting with powder as jinx. Jinx is more fun to pick apart, analyze, laugh with, and watch than powder.

But viktor? He was fun to watch before he was the “machine herald.” We got the whole of season 1 of him kicking around, making noise, and being generally developed and interesting to watch even if he doesn’t shoot lasers out of a third arm.

I just really don’t want to watch an out of touch supervillain emotionless robot terrorize piltover and zaun!! I only hope he’s fun to watch instead of being a generally really sad agency-less bucket of bolts
