spiraling about the framing here… the way tsukasa is specifically positioned with these two marks so visibly on display, one so temporary it’s drawn like it’s already fading deeming him guilty and the other so solid and near-permanent deeming him the most important and beloved thing in hanako’s life… the way the guilty mark is on his hand marking what he does (if we take hands to represent actions) as making him guilty but the mark of love, which as we know from sumire could be anywhere on his body, is right on tsukasa’s face... the way love is so much stronger than guilt and blame

it reminds me so much of:

I know we don’t have confirmation that he’s talking about tsukasa here, but even if it’s just thematically, the faded guilty stamp and the permanent yorishiro seal are so reminiscent of amane defending this person unrelentingly, never budging, and paying little to no mind to tsuchigomori’s condemnations of this person’s actions. the faded stamp and bold seal contrasting so heavily to say “actions are so fleeting and always changing but love is unwavering.” amane protects this person despite what they’ve done to him. amane kills tsukasa and tsukasa comes back marked as the pinnacle of hanako’s love. actions and guilt and blame are so complicated in tbhk, but love always endures. and it’s all shown so succinctly in this one image of tsukasa this chapter

What surprised me was that Hanako didn't take any punishment, he defended himself. Of course he failed to prove his innocence, but he didn't fail me. is such a cute little 'pervert'. I adore him and that scream "TSUKASA", that worried and concerned face when Tsukasa was in danger. Hanako was so scared about Tsukasa!

He may get angry, He may pretend with a cold attitude of "I saved her and you too at the same time", but HE CAN'T HIDE HIS REAL FEELINGS!

just a lil' thing that i thought of while thinking of a oneshot lol

Alr- Uh- Hi! I just wanted to share this lil' analysis I just had- While I was thinking of ideas with an oneshot that I planned (and still plan to) write- (the oneshot was a platonic! Alive/Teacher! Amane & Nene (basically; A What If Amane never died AU))

And- Based on the last analysis that I read about the 4pm BookStacks Mystery and etc... (link: https://nanabansama.tumblr.com/post/611361682162368512/changing-fate-sometime-in-the-year-1969-a-middle?is_related_post=1) Briefly; They said that since Tsuchigomori said that Amane was the only one to change his future, it means that Tsukasa was always destined to die. (I kinda don't really remember the rest, but it was kind of like that) So, basically; Amane was never destined to die, but Tsukasa was. But, based on aNOTHER analysis that I read about the time paradox of tbhk (i don't remember their username... and I vaguely remember what they said about the time paradox, but it definitely inspired me to do this analysis, alongside with the 4pm bookstacks analysis) I thought so that; For Amane to live, Nene had to not travel through time. We've seen Nene time travel many times; Be it the Tanabata festival,

Amane's old classroom...

The Red House..

What if Nene's time travel (+ Kou in the Red House) was indirectly the reason why Amane died? i mean- think about that;

When Nene traveled back in time for the second time, but at the Tanabata Festival this time, she encounters Mini-Amane.

They both spend time together, long enough for Mini-Amane to have his very first crush, then Nene leaves and Mini-Amane is sad about it, and then-

Instead of writing on the cards that Nene gave him his wish to be an astronaut, Mini-Amane writes that he wants to meet Nene-onee-san again. And that is where it happens the butterfly effect. Or maybe it isn't..? Reaching further into the future, or perhaps the past, Nene and Kou indirectly travel back in time (???) upon entering the Red House. I must say, the Red House is really confusing; Is it really a boundary? How exactly did it managed to survive even after literal decades? Or could it be that the Red House connects both the future and the past and that's why Nene and Kou were technically able to travel back in time upon entering the house, seeing as how the house seemed to have caught fire as soon as they left. (The house caught fire when they were inside, and the house looked like it had been melting for decades after they were outside of the house.) Idk, But the mystery of the Red House is not really why I created this post. During their time in there, when Nene is finally back from wherever she was, Kou says that Tsukasa's brother, Amane, killed his younger twin brother when they were both 13. Kou said to Tsukasa, a 4-5 years old, that Amane, his brother, killed his younger twin brother when they were both 13.

And that is where the first butterfly effect happens. The second butterfly effect was in the Festival Tanabata, when Nene travel back in time and meet Mini-Amane. The first butterfly effect was in the Red House, when Kou said to 4-5 yrs old Tsukasa that his brother would kill him once they were both 13. Think about that; What if Nene never traveled through time at the Tanabata Festival? What if Nene and Kou had never entered the Red House? What if none of them had any involvement with the 7 Mysteries? The thing is; If Nene had never had any kind of involvement with the seven mysteries, she would never have traveled through time, she and Kou would never have entered the Red House, they would never have met Hanako or Mini-Tsukasa. What I mean is; (Dang this is getting really confusing xDD) If Nene had never had any kind of involvement with the 7 Mysteries in the first place, Amane would probably still be alive, and Tsukasa would still be dead. (Or, well, better said; He would still be at the Red House.) My theory is that, if Nene and Kou never ever entered the red house in the first place, Tsukasa would probably never return to his own timeline, therefore; He would still be considered missing. Which means Amane would have grown up alone without his brother. What if Nene never had any involvement with the supernatural? She would never have traveled back in time and found Mini-Amane; Instead, Mini-Amane would probably write his wish to be an astronaut on the only red card he has, or something else. (I don't know if his twin's disappearance would have anything to do with his wish to be an astronaut, honestly- Maybe he would write to meet his brother again, idk) And since we all know about the rumors that; If you collect all the cards and write your wish on them... Your wish will come true. (I don't know if it was something like that, but that was basically it)

Since Amane only had one card, whatever his wish was (meet his brother again or be an astronaut or something else) never came true. Therefore; Amane never killed his brother, grew up and, instead of becoming an astronaut, he grew up to be a teacher, just as Tsuchigomori said he would. Tsukasa never changed his future, because he was always destined to die. In Amane's vision, his brother disappeared on their 4th birthday, when in reality, Tsukasa sacrificed himself for Amane and presumably died. (I think his time in the Red House counts as him being dead.. Maybe. Or maybe he went to where Katakuri was and he became just like all the other sacrifices- Idk) Tsukasa was already dead before he even set foot on Kamome, while Amane was still alive and his future said he would be a teacher, side-by-side with his old teacher.

So, basically- If Nene never had any kind of involvement with the supernaturals, the butterfly effect would never have happened and Amane would grow up to be a teacher and Tsukasa would probably still be dead.

Tsuchigomori did say that Amane was the only human being to ever change his future.. Tsukasa isn't included in this idk lol i just had this thought while I was thinking of a oneshot with Alive/Teacher! Amane- xD The butterfly effects is really something interesting to think about tbh lol

after this whole thing, now I want to see Tsuchigomori and Tsukasa meeting. That would be really interesting lmao

Someone had this theory that Amane was the one hurting Tsukasa and that Amane was wounded cause Tsukasa fought back. Like throughout all the flashbacks we see, Tsukasa and Amane have a nice relationship and Tsukasa has never tried or wanted to hurt Amane at all but we don’t know that about Amane

hiiii sorry i took so long with this response!! things have been super busy for me this past week or so, so thank you for the ask and for your patience!!

that is an interesting theory!! I hadn’t thought of that possibility. I’ve been reading it as… amane is a pretty passive guy who, in killing tsukasa and himself, becomes hanako, our morally complicated hero who saves our heroine no matter the cost and finds a way to puppeteer all the situations he finds himself in. amane just feels so different from hanako in many ways, and I think there’s no way the murder wasn’t a huge turning point character-wise. but I do like the idea of glimmers of hanako shining through in amane—we certainly have seen many examples of how hanako is very much still amane!! so to see it go the other way would be really interesting!! could be interesting to see if hanako’s traits were actually in amane the whole time

personally though, I do think the murder was probably a drastic change in behavior for amane. the amane we’ve seen was pretty quiet and passive and clearly going through a lot internally that he wasn’t expressing outwardly (at least not directly). and i read this line from ch20 as an implication that amane was "holding back" for a long time before killing tsukasa:

so those lines make me think amane was probably not too aggressive with tsukasa during life, since he was supposedly "holding back," at least to tsukasa's perception.

regarding how healthy their relationship seems, it definitely seems like there was a gradual deterioration. 9-year-old amane and tsukasa at the festival seem to have a pretty normal sibling relationship, but things definitely seem off by middle school. that could potentially be amane’s doing! but I wouldn’t necessarily rule out tsukasa wanting to hurt amane… considering this is how he looks at a crying hanako:

tsukasa is often a hard to read character, so I think it’s hard to say he definitely wasn’t thinking about hurting amane in these flashbacks. it''s still very up in the air to me!

it is true though that we don’t know what caused the shift to these thoughts he’s having in these middle school flashbacks, so it could have been pushed by amane’s hand! whatever it was that caused the rift between the twins during the time between tsukasa coming back from the red house and their deaths, i'm sure it was very complicated!!

amane clearly had a lot he was weighing and thinking about when it comes to tsukasa!

but personally, i think the damage amane/hanako does to tsukasa is more emotional than physical

i think ch91 is a good example of this:

i think hanako pointedly misses tsukasa physically here--i believe it's hanako's words and choices that have tears welling in tsukasa's eyes in this moment! and the blowing the clock to smithereens bit i referenced earlier in this post also seems like it was probably in response to whatever amane was doing with the clock--another potential instance of amane emotionally rather than physically wounding tsukasa, whether he means to or not.

also, while hanako is more active than amane, he's more tricky and controlling than physically aggressive. he doesn't seem to delight in violence and destruction or pain the way characters like tsukasa and teru do. all of his kills are relatively one-hit? he seems to like to keep things clean, so i don't really see an inclination toward violence in him, but hey, it could be a surprising twist!!

I still think the murder was amane’s breaking point, and probably his first big decisive action, one tsukasa pushed him to in one way or another for one reason or another—maybe he could sense amane’s suspicion and was hurt by it? maybe the god started taking over? who knows at this point! so many different possibilities. but this is definitely an interesting theory!! and i would be interested to see/hear what possibilities could lead to this

okay okay imagine

this is kou's perfect tl, right? His family is together, his mom is alive, and not only is Sousuke alive and well, but they are close. First name basis. Sousuke knows that Kou is an exorcist even though he keeps that a secret from his other living friends, Yokoo and Satou. They share some sort of exclusive relationship.

And then... Nene, Akane, possibly Teru (Teru is a wildcard atp - Minamoto mom in the mix complicates his motives), possibly others are trying to revert the timeline, back to the one where absolutely nothing is working out for him. Dysfunctional family, loved ones dying, weight of the world on his shoulders all over again.

I mean, one part of this to analyze is how this affects Kou's character development. In the og tl, he's in a very tough spot in his character development, in which he still feels responsible for everyone else's happiness, always putting others first, always at his own expense. He feels weak and unreliable, but holds himself to such a high standard, because otherwise he doesn't know how to hope. He's barely voiced his insecurities to anyone, besides Mitsuba, and also Teru when they fought during the severance arc.

We don't know how much Kou remembers now, nor the rate he'll remember things, nor how adjusted he really is to this new tl. Because Nene, even though she initially struggled to remember the old tl, she also was foggy on some details about the current tl. And Kou set a table for three instead of 5. So, the question this begs is how displaced is Kou's memory atp?

Alright. Moving on. Depending on these factors... how is his development affected by this? He is in an environment that is fulfilling for him in every way, but it is being threatened to be taken away by people he may or may not remember (doesn't remember Nene yet, status with Akane not confirmed, Teru's motives still in question)

And even if he does remember, how will he react? He has everything he's ever wanted, and it's real this time, unlike in picture perfect. Will he finally put his own wishes first, or will he relinquish a life that's better for him, his family, Sousuke, and so many more? And would that really be selfish of him to decide, if this timeline is objectively healthier?

It's suggested that one of the Yugi twins even grew up to be one of Tsuchigomori's colleagues, likely Amane. If he thought about it, Kou could argue that if Nene loves Hanako/Amane, she would choose the world that he got to grow up in instead of the one where he dies prematurely. It's even hinted that Aoi still likes Akane despite her engagement to Teru, so, logically he'd have a really good argument against everyone opposing the new tl, right?

But... it's not his story. We know he's more than likely going to have to lose this life. Lose his loved ones all over again

And of course... to choose Sousuke Mitsuba, he has to unchoose Mitsuba No. 3. Which is another ooooof biiiig storm coming

It's gonna hurt me, I know. I'm just SO goddamn invested in how this is going to play out
