So I think the universe is telling me to watch Heartstopper again.

I dreamt about the milkshake scene last night. I was the one making the milkshakes. So random, but it felt so real.

I mean, it's one of the best shows that I have ever watched. So makes sense that I have dreams. Also it is apart of one of the greatest universes I have ever been obsessed with.

liking Reed has irreversibly changed my relationship to fiction because now i'm automatically sympathetic towards villains.

the villain is planning and plotting to keep the love of their life by their side? we love to see a motivated individual take charge of their life. villain is planning to destroy the world? yesss king, omg you're absolutely cooking. the villain has a sad backstory and is incredibly messed up by their trauma? even better. i love you so much, i want you to find peace and happiness and/or fulfil all of your dreams and wishes. (this includes destroying the world.)

I always find it funny when people are more mad at a character than the people they supposedly hurt are? I get it happens when a fandom is younger or it’s been truely written incorrectly based on the characters, but a lot of the times it’s not and it’s funny to see idk. I am looking at the teen wolf fandom.

I’m rewatching teen wolf (because I never actually made it past season 4 while it was airing) and I gotta say, season 5 was not too bad! I actually really enjoyed it. I gave up after season 4 because all my babies were gone 😭 but I’m glad I gave it another chance.

I’m currently a few episodes into season 6 and I’m actually enjoying it too. Sucks that there’s not too much stiles and no Kira either but it’s not bad! I absolutely adore Liam and Mason! They’re just so adorable!

Can't believe they named the character with the most daddy issues Issac, like the boy who just wanted to be helpful and was let down or abandoned by literally everyone down to his disappearance from the show being left alone in France with nothing paralelled with the biblical story of an obedient son being brought up to the mountains to be slaughtered amongst the rest of the sheep without a second thought from his father

things i love about heartstopper 39/?

I love that almost all these characters look like real people. Yeah, they’re all beautiful real people, but they aren’t (all) the sort of interchangeable, predictable, normative beauty that you get in so many US teen shows (or adult shows tbh).

I think this is one of the many things that makes it so obviously, unapologetically British. Okay, yes, Elle is played by a model and she looks it, and her style is impeccable at all times, but even she’s shown dressed down occasionally, looking like a whole human teenage person. (And there are actual character related reasons she's so impeccably styled...) Nick obviously fits normative beauty standards as well, but again, he always looks like an actual person and not some perfect airbrushed film version of a person.

There are shots with all of them from less flattering angles, with imperfect hair, with makeup that looks like a (competent) teenager chose it, with wrinkled clothing, in blah school uniforms like all of us had to deal with (and adapting those uniforms as best they can). There's a range of body types - and not just existing, but also seen as attractive, as capable, as desirable. There are facial features that don't fit normative beauty standards portrayed as beautiful (and they are!!). Our one visibly disabled character is shown as stylish and cool, without making it A Thing - they're treated like a person. Darcy actively shifts away from normative beauty as they become more themselves and it's celebrated - as it should be! If only more media gave us this.

I have Some Thoughts about some of the makeup (esp what happened to Nick’s freckles) after S1, but this is generally the exception to the way these kids are portrayed as actual people and not idealised beauty standards.
