I've been going back to my roots of writing OC fanfic that will never see the light of day recently, and I forgot how fun it is!!!

I remember you bring up the Pause Garden when talking about the three Nyxies

That I did !

1.0 (Dreamwalkers), 2.0 ( Nameless) and 3.0 (Current Nyxie) are canonically native from the Pause Garden

Basically, the story goes that Crea ( me/my sona) wanted to make a WH sona. Ethlynn, an oc, walked by and asked to try and help making the sona. For experiment purpose, Crea accepted and they made Nyxie. But due to Ethlynn's interference, Nyxie awoke with awareness of her situation and dreamwalking powers, and her own conscience split from me, making her a failed sona (meta lore goes brrrr)

Nyxie was then raised by Ethlynn and brought to the WH universe

The Pause Garden itself is a story I created when I was in hisghschool, a sort of middle place for all my ocs to meet. It's a little café set in a bubble in the dream realm, outside of time and space and connected to other universes. A guest ( creators and ocs alike) can come and go depending on some conditions. You are either invited to the Pause Garden by a dreamwalker ( Ethlynn or Guard mainly ), an aberration ( native inhabitants of the Pause Garden) or with dimension traveling powers.

The story was set in a way to let the reader discover my ocs and each of their characters arcs that are more or less about the sense of self, and then it all link to the depression I started having in HS ( so most of the story was written by teen me and I picked it back up as an adult)

The Nyxies stories are also about the sense of self btw, weither it's fate/fatality for 1.0, being homeless and discarded for 2.0 or about being an outsider forced in a story for 3.0

I mention Ethlynn a lot because she's one of the first ocs, the oc that knows the most about the Pause Garden itself and what she is ( a character from a discarded novel) and my fav tbh

In the game, the reader becomes a y/n to interact with the ocs for a week, and each day you meet new characters. The more you talk to them and learn about their stories, the more they'll likely help you later. Then the first incident happen, and Ethlynn takes you back to your world/home screen. Week goes on, second incident happens and this time, other guest ( creators) walk you back. Third time, no one can help you, you are stuck in the PG with the ocs. The place becomes distorted, with half of the ocs corrupting. To save everyone, you're given a notebook with their original page, and you gotta go from room to room to try and get everyone back to their pages. Some characters are friends, others foes, some are neither and some are both.

The story would be about you as much as them, with some being "main characters" like Ethlynn, Sanaë and Kali, or Shiva, and other more background like Eularia, Silkia, Goupil, Hamelinn, Snow-Snow, Halloween, etc

Look, it's Zelda OCs out of nowhere!

The story/main mechanic is a combination of the companions concept and great fairy sidequest from TOTK, plus the idea of sages playing musical instruments in WW and Link being an orchestra director

Basically Zelda gives Link and Malon the main quest: rectruiting the best musicians of Hyrule to play the sacred song that will open the doors of the temple where the Master Sword is kept

Zelda is the one writing and teaching Link songs every time he comes back to the castle with a new party member. She hides her mad-artist vibe behind the "proper princess" role

Link and Malon are cousins, they grew up in Lon Lon ranch like siblings. Malon is the group's singing voice (and very sweet)

Link is extremely shy and he doesn’t talk much so directing four strong personalities is a bigger challenge than puzzles and monsters for him

They find Forte trapped inside the earth dungeon (he went there to study the art of music but got too scared by skulltulas to leave). He thinks he's better than everyone else, but he's not a bad guy. Clarinet player

Riff is the Zora prince but prefers playing in his band rather than listening to his mother. Annoying little shit. Drum player

At first Neuma refuses to join them but agrees to help when she finds out they're trying to stop Ganon. She used to be a memebr of the Council of the Seven in Gerudo Town but left for mysterious reasons (may have something to do with Ganon). The stoic type. Lotar player

I got inspired to design my own version of Link and Zelda and may have gotten a little bit attached woops.

EXTRA DETAILS BELOW IF UR INTERESTED:

For the timeline, these two are placed after Twilight Princess. TP!Zelda is this Zelda’s great grandmother.

Link works for her parent’s potion shop, she delivers their potions to people and general stores all across Hyrule. I imagine in a game setting you would deliver potions as part of side quests and use the shop’s alchemy station as a cooking mechanic.

The goggles that Link wears are magic goggles gifted to her by Impa. I can see it functioning as a “Lens of Truth” type item that allows her to see through illusions (which becomes very relevant).

Unlike her other counterparts, this Zelda is HATED by her people. They don’t like the way she disregards people’s feelings in favor of finding the most logical way to solve civil conflicts. Awful rumors are often spread about her. She doesn’t notice this.

Zelda was given combat training by Impa mostly bc of Hyrule’s history of being taken over by evil. She wanted to be able to defend herself and her people should something like that happen during her time. She also just respects Impa a lot as a mentor figure.

Link had a major crush on Zelda when they were kids. Now that they’re no longer close she thinks she got over it, but girl is in denial big time. If the subject is brought up, she gets rly pathetic and tsundere abt it.

Zelda sees Link as weak and a bit of a thorn in her side. She hates how stubborn and reckless she is. Part of her wishes Link would give up and tells her to “stop pretending you’re a hero” bc internally, she thinks Link will get herself killed and doesn’t want that.

They basically have that dynamic where they are rly brutal towards each other and have a lot of unprocessed feelings, but also ultimately know everything abt each other and will sacrifice themselves for the other no questions asked.

To elaborate on the plot stuff, basically Zelda gets trapped in a mirror which was actually a gateway to a “mirror world.” Its basically Hyrule but everything looks reversed and it kinda looks like a dark fucked up version of the SS Silent Realms.

When Zelda and Link both look into a reflective surface at the same time, they can see and talk to each other. This happens the first time on complete accident btw.

Perchance these two learn that they have to work together to get Zelda back to Hyrule and in the process confront all their weird hangups abt each other and their awkward situationship. Who knows.
