Finally I'm back with a long post eheh
I've been reading MsKingBean89's wonderful work All the Young Dudes on AO3, which I recommend because it's simply amazing, and decided to make moodboards and playlists for each character.
Instead of my usual character description this time I preferred song lyrics. If you are not interested then please do enjoy the playlists, and ofc you can tag yourselves and the character you feel closest with. Hope you enjoy <3

RWBYmarch: OCs
Ah, the Blorbos from my mind.
Truth is, I have A LOT of RWBY OCs, entire...documents worth. But I’m gonna focus on two from each of my major AUs, Ignited Cinders & Collective Remnant.
Victoria Fain
Victoria is Cinder’s partner in Ignited Cinders, based off Vasilisa the Beautiful. Runaway daughter of Atlesian blue bloods, she’s basically a Goth Princess Vasilisa who wields Huggy Wuggy from Poppy’s playtime. No really. Her Semblance is the animation and control of puppets, and her weapons are the Umyashkas, weaponized puppets based off of animals, but disturbingly grimmlike. A red crow(Jackdaw), a white bear(Arthur), a black sloth(Neckwarmer), and a white humanoid gazelle(Horn).
She’s creep and I love her!
Truman Seaworth
Leader of team STEL in Ignited Cinders, based off Faithful John. Son of sailors, he traveled a lot as a kid. His weapons are your basic swordgun named Lungclaw and a grappling hook dagger called Ravenbeak. His semblance, ‘Confidant’ allows him to extract memories and read minds with skin contact. He can’t control it, so he has to wear gloves, and if he doesn’t know what he’s looking for, he gets traumatic, visceral emotions.
He’s just so friendly!
-
Rowan Rose
Adopted son of Ruby Rose and Penny Polendina, based off Loki. A magic user, capable of seeing spirits. His weapons are Mistil & Tan, twin smg kamas capable of combining into a crossbow and axe. His semblance is Fantasia, complex visual hallucinations. He’s a mocking little shit that either gets along fabulously, or inspires homicidal rage with anyone he meets, with almost no in between.
He’s a gremlin and I love him!
Luna Wukong
Daughter of Sun Wukong & Octavia Ember, based off Hanuman. She wields a bo staff that separates into twin gada maces, named Dusk and Dawn. Her semblance is Four Winds, aerokinesis with her lower body. Kind’ve her generations Neon Katt, a bit a braggart and gadfly, but incredibly loyal and funny.
She’s also a gremlin, and Rowan’s best friend at Chorus, so beware.

Chapter 1: You Were My Town
full masterlist // series masterlist // commission open // support my work
Pairings: Dark!Steve Rogers (in future chapters) x Reader
Word Count: 2,061
Summary: Steve Rogers; a Hollywood A-lister and your clandestine occasional hookup. Best friends since childhood, but people change and friendships fall out. Now you were merely strangers with benefits. What happens when one day you stopped being his doormat to be a better man’s queen? The selfish Steve Rogers would not like it. How far is he willing to go to get his favorite possession back?
Warnings: smut, non-con/dub-con, dark Steve (in later chapter), angst, Steve Rogers is an asshole in this one, no redeeming qualities. (MUST BE 18+)
A/N: first chapter is finally here!! this series is dedicated to the lovely @belovedcherry who commissioned this story and developed the concept. thank you for being a friend when i truly needed it. i’m really glad that you trusted me to write this story for you. with all my heart, i sincerely hope you like it. this series will be updated everyday, there will be 4 more chapters ahead.
PICTURE EXCLUSIVE: New Couple Alert! Steve Rogers and a blondie bombshell can’t keep their hands off each other! The headline verbalized.
The notorious heartthrob was spotted leaving The Ritz-Calton Hotel in Los Angeles around 2 AM with Spanish model, Alondra Ondiviela, 28, who looked stunning in a salmon sports bra and black overall, as she walked hand-in-hand with Dusk and Dawn star, Steve Rogers.
Steve Rogers was last linked to Blade in Deep actress, Anne Amorós back in early spring this year but had reportedly split after only two months dating.
Steve Rogers has been previously linked to many gorgeous models in the past, earning him the infamous title of ‘Hollywood’s favourite ladykiller.’ Will Alondra Ondiviela be the one to finally make Steve Rogers settle down and give up his womanizer ways? Placing our bets on how long this couple is going to last!
You closed the tab on your browser as you sighed defeatedly on your couch. You laid your head back on the headrest as you shut your eyes and folded your arms against your chest. Just how many more gossip articles can you endure?
Steve Rogers was your childhood best friend and… Perhaps the only man you had ever truly loved. You knew it was nothing but sheer naivety for you to concede that. You knew it was cruel and inequitable to your heart, but, you still held on to that tiny glimpse of hope that someday, things will change. He will change. Despite all the shit he had put you through, you couldn’t abnegate yourself from him. He always lured you back in with his sweet words and sinful lips whenever you try to expel him from your door.
It wasn’t always like this. Back in kindergarten, Steve used to be this good, shy, scrawny kid who had a blistering passion for art. He was always very twitterpated by watching live shows on stage. When you were kids, Steve would try to sneak both of you into the theatre when the lights were out. Steve didn’t grow up in a very lucky family. His abusive father abandoned his mother when he was only four years old, and since then, his mom had been working tirelessly to keep a roof over their heads and fill in their fridge with food.
You, on the other hand, were a little luckier than him. Your parents had decent jobs that paid the bills well enough to survive. Whenever Steve was short in cash, you would always offer him a little bit of your pocket money or your meal. You would even offer to buy tickets for both of you so you didn’t have to sneak in and could actually get good seats. But he would always say, “well, where’s the fun in that?”
So you’d drop the topic and go along with whatever deceitful ways he had in mind. After all, he was your best friend and you trusted him. You’d rather choose the thrill of bootleg games than waiting ten minutes early before the show starts anyway. But you remember it vividly under the aura of those stage lightings and when the actors were personifying in their larger-than-life costumes, he would be so mesmerized by the show before him that sometimes he wouldn’t even say a word to you at all until it was over.
Before you went home, he and you would walk to the nearest burger place, where you would eat under the polychromatic neon sign and he would tell you, “someday, I’m going to my face on the big screen or one of those giant stages and I would make my mom proud!” he cheered. And you’d always encourage him, “…and I’ll be there to watch and clap for you in the audience.”
Rest in peace, to your naïve bravado… Little did you know, his dream was going to be your doom.
You remained closed friends as you grew up; going to the same school, sharing a few classes together, until, in high school, things began to change. He began to join auditions and taking art classes and extracurriculars. He became busier and busier every day to the point where he could only hang out with you on the weekends. That is when he absolutely had no rehearsals or he wasn’t too worn out from a week full of activities.
You also noticed the different manner and shift of inflexion when you two hung out. All he would talk about is the ‘clique’ of popular boys in school had asked him to sit with them at lunch and how the popular girls would start preening at him when he walked down the hallway. It was as if by partaking in these arts clubs, it gave him a VIP member card to get access into sitting with at exclusive spots and it upgraded his status.
He changed his looks as well, by going to the gym more often and eating more so that he would gain some muscles. He began dressing like one of those jocks and he would begin throwing in some flirtatious comments to those popular girls when they were around.
Eventually, he and you began to grow apart. It got worse when he started dating one of the popular girls, Janet, and he would ditch you even on weekends despite all the plans you had made weeks prior.
“I can’t hang out today, y/n. Janet’s parents are out of town and I think we are going to hook up in her giant pool!”
“But what about the movie that we planned to see together today? I thought you had been anticipating for it since a year ago?”
“I know, but can we just postpone it? It’s not like they are going to take it out tomorrow! We could still see it next weekend.”
“Well, we’ve bought the tickets, Steve.”
“Ah, shit, alright, I’ll just pay back the money, okay? How much are those tickets?”
“No, it’s fine, Steve. Don’t worry about it.”
“Really? You sure, y/n?”
“Yeah, I’ll just ask my mom or maybe Wanda to go see it with me. Don’t want those spoilers on the internet ruining it for me.” You chuckled hollowly. Disappointment filled up your heart but you pretended like it was alright, anyway. If Steve wanted to spend time with his girlfriend then, you had no right to stop him and force him to hang out with you.
“Ah, got it. Thanks, y/n. You’re the best!” and then the frozen seconds on the screen showed that he had ended the call.
The phone calls and text messages began to dwindle. You would often try to text or call him first but it would go to voicemail and or you would be left on read. When you were at school, Steve completely stopped hanging around you. He would rather be with his new ‘friends’ now. And he was too occupied with making out with Janet to notice you as you both walk past each other in the hall.
Wanda was your most trusted confidant and she knew about all the feelings you caged inside you for Steve. She would always be there for you when you cry over him and she would always encourage you to move on and stop trying to reach him. “You deserve so much better than this, y/n. Why would you ruin yourself for an asshole like him?”
Curse your adamant heart for refusing to listen to Wanda and take her advice. In the bottom of your heart, you knew that Wanda was right. You deserved so much better than what Steve had turned you into. You used to be this bright-eyed, rose-coloured heart person who saw your future in a radiant lustre. You were always drawn to helping people out. You used to think that maybe you’d end up being a nurse or a school counsellor, but as you grew older, gradually, you realized that there is far way more pernicious malady than physical ones.
Like the wound in your heart that Steve keeps tapping on every time he acts like he didn’t know you or he left another call or text unanswered. Every time he posted pictures of him and Janet, or him and ‘the boys’ who would walk around the school as they owned it. You had always dreaded those boys. You knew they were bad news and you didn’t want to be associated with them under any circumstances. You and Steve used to make fun of them, how much of a loser they are and how negligent they are toward their grades. But who would’ve known that Steve would turn into his own worst abomination?
Eventually, like all good (and bad) things, they must come to an end. You graduated with a 3.8 GPA and you were proud of yourself for all those times you spent being at home to do your homework and study until around 2 AM.
You were happy; you were satisfied with your grades, your parents were there, cheering for you in the audience and taking countless pictures of you when you walked on stage, and you could finally move forward to the next stage of your life. But something was missing.
“Gosh, I can’t wait to finally graduate.” He scanned the paper with a mark that mocked him in big bold red as he sat at the edge of your twin-sized bed. You had just returned from school and you had received the result of your Math tests. You luckily got a B+ but clearly, Steve didn’t acquire the same latter.
“C’mon, it’s just one bad test. It doesn’t mean that your life is over.”
“I know but, I don’t like seeing a C+ on my test, y/n. It makes me feel inadequate. Besides, I need a solid 3.7 GPA in order to get into NYU. Otherwise, I wouldn’t stand a chance.”
“Stop being so dramatic, you still have what it takes. You just need to do a lot better in the next one.”
“Yeah, I’m really gonna have to work my ass off though. Math has never been my strongest suit.”
“Neither it’s mine, but you know what? Someday we’ll wear our graduation hat and this wouldn’t even matter. You’d probably forget that you’ve ever had a C in your high school year.”
You recalled those times where Steve would endlessly talk about graduating and what would happen when both of you go on separate ways. He would tell you “don’t be silly. We’ll always be best friends even if we go to different universities. It’s not like we don’t have a phone, y/n.”
You always imagined that on your graduation day, you both would celebrate it together but of course, those dreams have long perished. Steve didn’t even have a smile on his face when your name was being announced.
He was supposed to be there, standing right next to you and engulf you in a warm, giant hug. The one that he used to give on your birthdays. But no, now, you could only watch him from several feet away farther than you both used to be. You could only hear his echoing laugh as he high-fived the boys and twirl Janet around up in the air like the happy ending in your favourite Rom-Com movies.
That should be me. Your heart cry mourned for the memories and the fractured promises. It was like there was this colossal fortress between the two of you and while you were fighting to climb it to reach him, he, on the other hand, didn’t even have the patience to wait for you.
It’s okay though. At least you had your parents and Wanda and her parents and twin brother, Pietro who adorned this special day distracting you away from the anguish of missing Steve. You were going to spend this entire day with the people who truly loved you and you loved just as equal before you had to leave for the new phases of your own lives.
You will finally move to your college dorm, have yourself a roommate, and invest your time and energy in something that you knew you were always meant to do and it excites you that your journey of helping people will start soon.
And Steve Rogers will be nothing but a consigned to oblivion memory that will sink like a battleship beneath the waves.
At least for now.

questions for an author
i was tagged by the talented @shallow-gravy (thank u!!!!)
Name: Lila
Top 5 Fandoms Written: oh wow i WISH i’d written for 5 fandoms. but really it’s just red dead, a tiny dash of the last of us, and i’d like to get into the vampire the masquerade fandom. maybe fallout new vegas.
Top 5 Fandoms You Want To Write For/More: i guess i already sorta answered this above. but three more fandoms i’d like to write for... hm. From Dusk Till Dawn, for sure. Twin Peaks would be fun to write for, but i have no idea how i’d even go about that, tbh. & i’d love to write for the mafia franchise.
Stories You Wish More People Knew About: fanfic or original fic? well, for fanfic, anything i have bookmarked on ao3 is something i loved and wish everyone would read. for original fic, i just read this short story for class called “The Third and Final Continent” by Jhumpa Lahiri, and yeah, it’s pretty famous but also it’s just so good i want everyone in the world to experience it. i also loved “Night Road” which is a Choice of Games interactive fic about a courier vampire so yeah. I still haven’t shut up about that one.
Ship(s) Written The Most: Arthur Morgan and my oc Constance! My only ship I’ve written in years. Uh... did used to write Bella/Edward. ngl. but i’m not proud of it ok.
Character(s) Written The Most: Arthur lol.
How Many OCs Do You Have: a million! but only a few have seen the light of day and they all exist in memories of the west.
How Many Series Do You Have: just memories, right now.
What Do You Do With Fics You’re No Longer Interested In?: cry and stare at them longingly and stare at all the moodboards i made for them to try and revive my love.
Coming Soon: eventually more memories of the west. i’m also trying to write a few vtm things.
Line From A WIP:
I sleep in the red neon light of the hotel sign. When I was a kid, Grandma put up curtains to keep the light out, but the dark frightened me. In the dark, thoughts of the devil are likely to run rampant. So I never close those curtains. Better to see the devil coming.
Grandma’s certain he’s around every corner - and after all, she picked the most likely city for that to be true.
Do You Accept Prompts?: uh yeah!!! that would be cool as hell if someone asked me to write a prompt awww
How Do You Feel About Kudos?: ajdklajdlakjdkajal they’re the best
Do You Read Fic As Well?: DUH!!! there are so many talented folks in my favorite fandoms. i’m so lucky to get to read their stuff honestly :’)
i’m tagging @electriicfleur and @alwaysupatnight and @odddragon and whoever else would like to participate :)

masterlist
The neon lights of Las Vegas were so bright they could burn skin with sin.
People called New York the city that never sleeps, but the Big Apple couldn’t hold a candle to the mirage of chaos situated in the heart of the Mojave. This place was hotter than Hell and the citizens were like snakes, hiding from the beating sun at dawn and slithering out to hunt at dusk. The city was designed to overwhelm its “guests” with temptation. What happens here, stays here: an empty promise disguised as a secret. People talk, and the name had its own proud implication.
You didn’t have to say what you got up to in Vegas, everyone already knows.
The year was 1979. Javier Peña sat in a smoky lounge of the Flamingo, eyes lazily trained on a suited piano man playing away on stage.
He’d never come here willingly, but the DEA had him sent to Sin City investigating its suspicious abundance of every drug under the sun. Though Bugsy Siegel and many of the mobsters were long gone, the mafia still held Vegas by the balls. Their influence was atomic, going so far as to halt Metro in making any sort of move against them. Javi noticed it immediately on his first day in the office; the officers on the force only ever responded to petty crimes and traffic violations. Any call involving suited men and blow were brushed off and away. When Javi confronted one of the detectives, he only laughed in his face,
“Their lawyers are too good, Peña.”
It was only when Javi took a walk down to a shitty convenience store for a pack of cigarettes did he realize the state of the city. He saw a group of kids who couldn’t have been older than 22, high off their ass and stumbling along the sidewalk. He did his best to ignore them, but the group suddenly got louder as a girl was tripping over her heels into the street, an oncoming car only seconds away. He acted quickly grabbing her arm and pulling her flush against him, Rolls Royce tearing down the road, horn blaring at the two of them.
“You saved my life there, Mr. Mustache,” she cooed, “How could I ever repay you?”
When he looked back to her, he tried his best not to cringe. Her pupils were so dilated, he was surprised her eyes didn’t pop out of their sockets. Then, he saw the white powder off the corner of her nostril and his stomach turned. She cackled at him, and he pushed her back to her coked out friends.
Javi learned two things that night: Vegas has horrible drivers, and anyone who came close to this town rotted from the inside out.
He figured that, in order to make any progress here, it would have to come from Hell itself. If he stuck around long enough, maybe he’d find something amongst the fields of ringing slot machines and gaudy carpet.
“Lose all your money already, son?” A voice drew him out of his thoughts. He turned to see a sharply dressed older man.
Javi faked a smile for the sake of being polite, “No, not yet. Maybe in a bit.”
The man chuckled and sat in the leather chair to the left of him, “You should stay. They’ve got quite a show coming up.”
Fancyman bristles beside him reaching inside his breast pocket. The little bag that he pulls out is unmistakable. The high roller notices his stare, “It’ll be especially good with a little bit of this.”
Javi cocks an eyebrow at him and waves him off, “No thanks. I think I’ll just stick with these.”
He gestures to his pack of cigarettes on the small table.
“Suit yourself,” the man settles. He takes the powder on his pinky and snorts it into his nostril.
Javier holds back on rolling his eyes and instead leans into his seat. He pulls a cigarette to his lips, settling in for this magnificent show that Fancyman promised. He rifled through his leather jacket for a lighter, but nothing turned up in his pockets.
“Let me get that for you,” a new, sultry voice whispers into his ears.
Heat creeps up his neck as a hand splays itself across his chest, tracing the exposed skin under his black button up. A golden zippo in perfectly manicured fingers appears before him, flickering to life with a tiny flame. He leans in and takes a drag, acutely aware of the lips inches away from his ear.
“Speak of the devil,” he nearly forgot about his company for the evening, “if it isn’t our little songbird.”
“Always a pleasure to see you again, Mr. Hughes,” Javi is strangely disappointed to hear the voice had drawn away, “Who’s your friend here?”
He turns around to introduce himself, but his name dies in his throat when his eyes catch yours. You could easily be a movie star with your bright red lipstick and perfect waves of hair. His mouth goes dry when you round the corner of his chair and sit on the armrest, lighting your own thin cigarette and storing away your zippo in your fur coat.
“I don’t know, darling, but I think he’s in love.”
“Is that so?” Your perfect lips form a smile as you curl them around the filter, “What’s your name, lover?”
He coughs into his sleeve in an attempt to prevent his voice from rising three octaves.
“Javier,” he says, “It’s just Javi, though..”
Idiot.
“Javier,” he could get drunk on the way you say his name, “Well, just Javi, could you hold onto this for me?”
His breath hitches when you slide the coat off your shoulders, revealing your body in a silk black strapless dress and a gold necklace with diamonds spilling onto your collarbone. You all but throw the fur onto his lap and stamp out your cig in the ashtray in front of him.
“Enjoy the show, lover.”
-
Describing you as a “songbird” was a serious understatement. Javi found your voice fucking heavenly with the way it crooned out some old torch song from the 40s. He wasn’t the only one who felt this way; sober or not, the audience hung onto every note that left your lips and the room was at your command. Your smooth, honey-sweet voice melted through one melody to the next. Soon enough, you were thanking everyone for coming out and wishing the crowd a lovely stay at the Flamingo.
And then your eyes met Javi’s once again, and blood rushed to his ears.
Eyes glittering mischievously, you point directly to him, “This last song is dedicated to that man right there.”
The spotlight whips away from the stage, landing directly on Javi’s chair. He tried his best to remain stone cold, jaw clenched and dark eyes boring into yours from across the room. But his embarrassment was quite literally on display as he shifted uncomfortably under the white hot heat of the light behind him.
“Just Javi was kind enough to hold onto something very special to me,” you purred into the mic, “Please give him a round of applause.”
Thank God, for your coat. Had it not been there, the world would’ve seen the way Javi’s cock strained against his jeans.
He finally let out a huff of relief as the spotlight left his back and veered its way back to your place on the stage, your last song starting. Javi was quick to scramble for another cigarette. He looked at the coat in his lap, pausing in contemplation. His eyes darted between the fur coat and yours as you began to sing again.
“I found a place
Full of charms
A magic world
In my baby's arms....”
His hands slithered their way to the folds of the coat on his lap, dipping into the pocket and pulling out the golden lighter. He flicked the sparkwheel, a tiny fire illuminating his the curves of his face as he kept his steely gaze on you.
“Her soft embrace
Like Satin and Lace..”
Javi took a long drag, nicotine setting his chest aflame. Your black dress ripples along your legs as you cross the stage. You’re smooth in the way you pull yourself onto the grand piano, lying down and arching your breasts upward as you belt out the lyrics, shooting a dazzling smile to him.
“Wondrous place”
-
“Excuse me, miss? There’s someone here to see you.”
“Tell him he needs to get in line.”
You see Tom, the baby-faced stagehand, bristle in the reflection of your dressing room mirror. He’s heatedly whispering with the person next to him. You always felt bad for giving him the chore of turning your suitors away.
And while you expect Tom to close the door and leave you in peace, he presses on.
“He-uh-he says he has your coat, ma’am.”
Your lips curl into a devilish smile, and you turn to your sweet blushing assistant.
“Oh, send him in then. He’s okay.”
The kid obeys, pushing your door further open. The man you’ve had your eyes on all night walks through, your fur coat wrapped along his forearm.
“What a lovely surprise, Just Javi.”
You watch him in amusement as his Adam's apple bobs in his neck. You relish in the paralyzing effect you have on him.
“I just came to return this,” his voice is tight as he tries to return your fur to you. You don’t miss the way his eyes trail over your body; your black stage dress was replaced by a cream silk robe loosely tied at your waist.
“Sure you did,” you tease. His jaw clenches. A small laugh spills from your lips, “Tom, could you give us a bit of privacy?”
Silence follows after the door shuts closed. You cross the room to stand inches before him, raising a hand to caress his cheek. The other rests on the coat in his arms. His ragged breathing is music to your ears.
“You were great tonight.”
“I aim to entertain,” you rub your thumb over his cheekbone, “Thank you.”
He clears his throat, voice growing low, “That was a pretty mean stunt you pulled out there.”
“Not a fan of the limelight, Javier?”
“No, not particularly.”
A coy smile creeps on your face when he leans in closer, lips parting in an attempt to catch yours. You slyly dodge Javi's mouth, and it connects with the crook of your neck instead. In his frustration, he bites down hard. A satisfied mewl escapes you.
“You’re driving me insane,” he huffs against your clavicle.
“What can I say?” he pulls away to look at you with wild eyes, “I like to play with my food, Javier.”
Chest heaving, Javi throws the damn coat onto the plush velvet chaise behind you. His strong, calloused hands are at your waist, feeling the curves of your body and pulling you closer towards him. You giggled in delight at his touch and your hands flew to clutch the back of his neck, fingers entangling themselves in his hair. You squeal when he goes to grab your ass, hoisting you up and wrapping your legs around his torso. He makes his way over to your vanity, and with a sweep of his right hand, he pushes off the contents of the table to the floor. Javi sits you up against the mirror, and takes your face in his hands.
“Let me kiss you, mi amor.”
Your body swells with warmth. You didn’t plan on kissing him, but the way his accent echoed in your ears made you dizzy. Your hands drop to the opening in his button up, and you pull him in, lips crashing together. He shudders against you, tongue swiping across your bottom lip. You let Javi in with fervor, huffing against his lips. Your fingers work their way down his torso, unbuttoning his shirt. They come back to his shoulders, desperately pushing his leather jacket off his shoulders. Javi’s hands leave your face and shrug off both his garments onto the floor. Your face flushes with heat at the sight of his bare chest. He pushes himself closer between your legs, and traces his right hand towards your inner thigh. His other hand pulls the bow at your waist and your robe spills open revealing your naked body.
Javi groans at the sight before him, and his hand palms at your breast.
“Fuck, you’re stunning.”
“Take a picture. Lasts longer.”
“I intend to do way more than that, cariño.”
Your heart flutters when he pulls your vanity chair in front of you and takes a seat. He spreads your legs out wide, hooking one of them over his shoulder. You hold your breath as he kisses along the inside of your thigh. Two fingers come up to your dripping pussy, massaging against the folds and spreading them open. His fucking tongue traces against your opening and you nearly cry at how good it feels. Javi drinks in every part of you as you squirm under his mouth like any parched man would in this desert. He moves his lips upward to suck gently on your clit, and inserts two fingers into you.
“Javi!” you croon, “Javi, baby, it feels so good.”
“Yeah? Sing it for me, sweetheart. I love hearing your voice.”
You gasp when his digits curl inside you. You wrap your hand in his hair, and pull him back up to face you. He’s still pumping into you when he stands from the chair, and your leg falls back onto the table. Trouble flickers across your face as you reach down and grip his wrist. You pull his fingers out of you and take them into your mouth, swirling your tongue and tasting your cunt on his tips.
“Shit, baby,” Javi grunts and uses his free hand to pull you flush against his hips. You moan at the feeling of his cock through his jeans. He presses his forehead against yours and removes his fingers from your hot mouth. Your deft hands fly to unbuckle his belt and unzip his pants. You claw at the waistband of his boxers, dipping your soft hands below to palm his thick cock.
Javi’s eyes shut at the contact, cursing under his breath when you wrap your fingers around the tip and squeeze.
“I knew I was gonna fuck you the minute I saw you,” You shift under him to whisper in his ear, “I’m so glad you don’t disappoint.”
“How?” Javi is barely holding it together, head spinning as you slowly stroke his shaft, “You couldn’t even see my face in the lounge.”
“No, I couldn’t. But I saw you in the lobby,” you push down his underwear and his cock springs out, “It was just my luck you came to see me.”
You pull him into another searing kiss, dick still in hand. His heart races as you rub him along your wet entrance. He leans forward and his arms pin themselves beside your head against the vanity mirror. He thrusts his length fully inside you, and the sound you make is ungodly. Your tight cunt is so warm and tight and he begins to move faster. The slapping of his torso against the back of your thighs reverberates around your dressing room, and your vanity table shakes with every push into you. Anything remaining on your table shifted and fell to the floor with the rest of Javi’s clothes.
He pulls his hands away from your mirror, and he presses them into your shoulders for stability. His lips move from yours and attack your neck, sucking at the supple skin below your jawline.
You let out a strangled mewl, but chide “Not on my neck, lover. I’ve got a show tomorrow.”
Javi nearly whines in frustration and pushes you backwards, forcing you to arch your chest into him. He kisses along your sternum instead, sucking down hard and marking you with a purple hickey between your breasts. The sight riles him up further, and he plows into you faster.
“Fuck, Javier, I’m gonna cum!”
“Look at me, mi amor. I wanna see you,” he tilts your chin upwards with his finger.
A wave of pleasure washes over you and your lips are chanting his name as you ride your orgasm. Javi has his own shortly after you, cum spilling into you and leaking around the sides of his dick. He pulls out of you and leans against the table, arms flexing next to your legs. You sit up and kiss the corner of his mouth. Pushing yourself off your vanity, you push past him and bend over your chaise lounge, shuffling through your forgotten coat. You turn back to Javier leaning against the armrest and you light one of your slim cigs. You take your first drag and pull it from your lips, offering it to him as you exhale. When he goes to take it from your fingers, however, you abruptly tug at his arm, throwing him onto your chaise.
His bewilderment made you chuckle, “What are you doing there, sweetheart?”
Your mischievous smile returns as you twist the cig in your fingers,
“Hold onto this for me, Javier.”
You stick the filter into the corner of his mouth as you straddle his legs, and you peel off your robe to reveal all of yourself to him.
“I hope you’ve enjoyed your stay,” you coo as you lick your lips “but I don’t think I’m quite done singing for the night.”
You were no songbird. You were a siren. A succubus. Like everything else in Las Vegas, you would take and take and take and leave nothing but dry bones and dust in your wake.
.

Dreaming Purple Neon (2016)
Ooohhh Todd Sheets, you did it again.
My love for Todd Sheets is definitely not the quality or even the originality but the honest passion on an uphill battle with no money or people that have ever taken an acting course in their life. True pure passion fueled films.
Attempting to make the ultimate grindhouse flick and homaging his own previous om nom nom slimey zombie filled movie past.
The problem is this movie goes on too damn long and the elements it takes it time on are often the least effective.
Two absolutely ridiculous, hilarious and kind of awesome gangsters kill a man who failed to collect on a drug deal for them start off this film. Making it feel like a 70s crime thriller blaxploitation. They scare a witness who they have to track down. The witness called Cat steals some of the gangster drugs to give to the cops as evidence, a drug called Purple Neon. Foolishly she stops to meet a friend on the way to the cops (always a rookie mistake) The gangsters Ray Ray and Tyrone track her down to a dentist's office where we meet several other supporting cast members. Having all the mix match of random characters in a lockdown situation.

Just before this we meet our romantic lead, an extremely rambling main male lead type of character who sadly is the worst actor of the cast. Classic story element of a guy called Dallas who is a young man returning to his home town to visit the love of his youth after he had left the small town due to a random embarrassment or controversy that is rarely important to the plot. He looks like a cross between Onyx the fortuitous and Eyesore regular Liam Pendergast. His side story is the love story to the film which is something you completely forget about yet very obviously you know it will be the final story arc of this movie, cause that just how these stories go.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/9e79a531f1bec043aabf4f9b55ecabd2/tumblr_inline_pj3nwpDUxx1r99kqs_540.jpg)
These stories build arcs with the witness, the gangsters, the hometown boy and his lover and random friend as well as the other random people they meet as a hostage issue happens in the dentist office. Say that in one breathe. Anyways this grows and grows making you forget this is supposed to be an insane horror movie that will get super fucking weird. It takes a long time to get there but when it does it turns into Dr Who meets an Andreas Schnaas Violent Shit movie. They discover a creepy dude rents the basement of the dentist office and his produces the drugs that the gangsters sell. The drug called Purple Neon. However it gets fucking weird when they discover the drug is actually a protoplasm made from victims of an insane demonic cult that are being held hostage in the basement. Making people into demonically possessed razor sharp fanged zombies.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/cbc8d2a4bba8c9ce46678b55d58df380/tumblr_inline_pj3nx9MUeQ1r99kqs_400.jpg)
The bizarre mismash of characters get locked in the catacombs of the basement as they run for their lives from cult monsters and mutants. Lots of weird torture nudity but basically displayed out like a carnival sideshow so we can see it as the characters run by.
A tag line on the dvd says Think you’ve seen it all? Think again! Well I will be honest a lot of this I have seen before. But it does end with them accidentally freeing a world destroying goddess in a ending bit of chaos you won’t see coming even after my warning right now. But the part that sticks out the most is like every bad ass b movie horror, you need that one original stand out kill.
My favorite of the two gangsters (SPOILER) is killed in a bizarre demon torture machine that is reminiscent to the torture device that the devil makes Homer Simpson eat donuts forever. Yeah you remember that bit. But instead of being chained down and having donuts drilled into your mouth the gangster is facing the other way and a drill is destroying his genitals into oblivion. The clincher of that scene is when the other characters of the movie run into that run and witness this happening but don't really react to it as if it's not that big a deal on comparison to everything else. I mean granted they were running for their lives and they had seen some shit already but still there is a dead man strapped to a table as a machine continues to drill into his balls and he is already dead. Damn son!
Man actors shared in this as well as Todd Sheets other projects like Bone Hill Road and the forth coming Clownado. Even some elements that tease it to be an extended Todd Sheets cinematic universe .. DUN DUN DUN!
Remember when From Dusk Till Dawn started out as a dark crime thriller and you started to forget it was a madhouse demon filled horror show and when it finally turned into that it went insane and blew your mind? Well Dreaming Purple Neon is not that... buuuuut it kinda is. It feels like From Dusk Till Dawn crossed with a high school play and all the kids in the cast are adults and high as shit.
So yeah I give it a big purple thumb up! But I think it would have been better less sober.

Melodifestivalen 2019 Deltävling 2 Review
Ah, yes. The inevitable drop in quality. I thought this heat was kind of disappointing. There were a few songs I liked but I didn't feel too strongly about any of them. And the opening/interval acts felt way less entertaining than last week. But luckily, the voting results were a complete mess meaning at least there's something to talk about.
1. Andreas Johnson - Army of Us
I'm getting strong David Lindgren vibes and I thought we were past that Sweden. This is the exact kind of pop that goes down really well in Melfest. I don't know who exactly is voting for it as it has no personality or real hook but whatever floats your boat, man. I also don't like the idea of this being paired up against a song I really like in Andra Chansen (like Nano) and winning á la Anton/Loreen. And then Andreas will come last in the final after being placed third in the running order. But, we'll see. This really does nothing for me at all.
2. Malou Prytz - I Do Me
So, there's nothing wrong with this. The track is fun, pop-py and full of energy. Plus, Malou is a great performer considering her age. I really underestimated this, especially with ISA on the songwriting team and Ace Wilder being behind the choreography. Something about the whole Clueless school setting made me think this would only appeal to little kids but clearly its appeal was greater than I thought. I thought this was okay overall, maybe a little too "by the numbers" for me? And I'd probably support it more if it didn't kick out songs I much preferred.
3. Oscar Enestad - I Love It
The biggest injustice of this Melfest so far. The staging was really cool and I liked the styling. Also, the song itself was great; I adored the strings section in the bridge. I think Heaven on My Skin and Sign of My Love are probably stronger songs but I Love It is definitely easier to perform and probably is more immediate than the other two. That brings me to one of the negatives; the chorus just felt far too repetitive on first listen. I enjoy it a lot now when I listen back but I was expecting more at the time (probably bigger production in the chorus too). Oscar's vocals were great but you could tell that he wasn't connecting with the cameras during his performance which was probably his downfall. Still, seventh is way too harsh.
4. Jan Malmsjö - Leva livet
Ehhhh. I didn't get this at all. It didn't have much of a hook and I didn't really understand the meaning of the song and how it connected to the staging (blame my poor Swedish skills). The press called this a suprise and said it had Andra Chansen potential. However, I was just waiting for the song to get going. And then the song ended.
5. Vlad Reiser - Nakna i regnet
Okay, I hate to admit it but I kind of really like this. Vlad's vocals were atrocious and his dancing was pretty goofy but I enjoyed the song. Felt like a discount Renaida but with neon, plastic rain jackets, and shaky camera effects. I thought this was okay at the time but it really grew on me when I listened to the studio version. So, I'm glad he got through.
6. Hanna Ferm & LIAMOO - Hold You
I don't know what I expected but I'm kind of disappointed. I love LIAMOO's voice and was excited to hear he was singing, not rapping this time. Plus, there were many comparisons to Dusk till Dawn, which I love. However, this just felt very dull and flat to me. The chorus doesn't feel triumphant like I want it to and I only feel like the song is reaching it's potential at the "don't let me down, without you I'm frozen" part right at the end. The staging is fine but I can do without Hanna's vacant stares into the camera. Maybe the studio version will grow on me but right now I definitely don't think this should represent Sweden.
7. Margaret - Tempo
Finally a bop, thank God. I knew from the Clean Bandit intro and Margaret's silhouette that I was going to enjoy this. The song is fun and I like the casual tropical elements in there. However I think doing the green screen idea was a mistake in hindsight. It's a cool idea but in reality it just confuses the viewers and makes the performance look cheaper. I saw somebody compare it to a UK Eurovision music video on Twitter and now I can't watch her performance without focusing on how awkward she looks during the green screen parts. It felt like she was kind of half-assing her choreography which wasn't great. She should have just focused on creating a dynamic dance performance using the LED. Plus, I love the part in the bridge where there's a gap in the vocals, building tension, before Margaret sings something in such a thick polish accent you have literally no idea what she said. 💜🇵🇱 Queen. So yes, there was a lot wrong with this but it was an injection of fun and energy into a heat that desperately needed it and it definitely didn't deserve to be eliminated.
My prediction on the night:
Final: Hanna Fern & LIAMOO, Andreas Johnson
AC: Vlad Reiser, Margaret
5th: Oscar Enestad
My personal ranking:
Final: Oscar Enestad, Margaret
AC: Vlad Reiser, Hanna Ferm & LIAMOO
5th: Malou Prytz

soft q&a
I was tagged by beloved wife @wingardiumlevibvllshit
Rules: answer the q&a’s and tag 5 of your most recent followers and 3 of your biggest fans, fave blog/users
What’s the smell of your shampoo?
orange and mint, I love it
What’s your aesthetic?
the night sky, bookshelves and old libraries, neoclassic buildings, renaissance and baroque paintings, golden and blue hour, city lights, fireworks, the ocean, bridges, mist, different colored hair, pastel colors, color coding, printed manuscripts and printed manuscripts with red corrections all over them, crystals, seashells, lightning and storms, the clacks of the keyboard keys, Victorian houses and clothing, and the sound of a piano playing in a minor key
What’s your favourite time of the day and why?
blue and golden hour, though under different circumstances. Blue hour is my favorite time to be out in the city in a bus going home, or to sit on my house’s rooftop to think and listen to music when i’m sad or just need to calm down. Golden hour paints my room in the prettiest and warmest of lights, and it's unbelievably comforting. I also love to be on my roof during golden hour, and it’s the perfect time of the day to be out on a road trip. The hours between 4 and 8 am are also amazing because for a few hours, the world is still, everything is quiet, nobody expects anything of me and I can just breathe.
What do you most like about the beach?
the ocean breeze, the sound (and sight) of waves crashing on the shore, possible small wooden docks you can sit on, the tranquility (if it’s an empty beach) and the feeling of home.
What do you worry about constantly?
my relationship. it’s long distance, so i always worry about time, about schedules and about my own insecurities. also about my family problems, my mental health problems, getting a job and actually working on my writing consistently so I can make a career out of it. just. a lot of constant worries.
What is a song you’ve cried to before?
i don’t cry easily so it’s hardly ever that i cry to music, even if it gets me emotional. i only remember two songs i’ve cried to, time by hans zimmer, from the inception soundtrack, i was severely depressed and angry because of my family and losing my mind with worry about other things and it just calmed me down enough to start and stop crying. before that it was nevermind by bts, which was exactly what i needed to hear at the time, because i had given up on everything.
What are some relaxing tips for your followers?
life may not always be good to you, but there’s nothing a combination of your favorite beverage, movie and food won’t soothe for a while. take those two or so hours to breathe and relax and rest, to make the world stop bothering you. if that’s not an option, as a friend once told me, hot chocolate and music are the soothing balm of the soul.
What are some things that make you tear up?
cases of emotional abuse in families, deep, unconditional love, whether its romantic, platonic or familial, anger, my parents' occasional degrading as well as my self degrading, fights, my boyfriend being a sweet, loving, romantic little shit when I expect love the least.
What is your favorite from each sense?
touch: velvet, my cat's fur, my kid cousin's cheeks, my favorite sweater's inside fabric, my boyfriend’s arms
smell: orange blossoms, wild roses, my boyfriend’s oud wood and dark vanilla axe, scented candles that smell like vague scents like ‘dusk’ or something
sight: stars and the moon, dusk and dawn, waterfalls, galaxies, dark/neon contrast, the ocean, molten lava, colorful, exotic flowers and birds, fireworks, iridescence and bioluminescence
hearing: thunderstorms, bass (dubstep on a good sound system, action movies in the cinema, I love to hear and really feel the bass), drums (particularly the gran cassa, I think the official English for it is bass drum?)
taste: prosciutto and cheese filled tortellini, chocolate with strawberry or raspberry (thank you Elena), Lila Pause, (water)melon, melomakarona
What is an alternative reality you’d like to live in?
One where we can achieve everything and anything is possible. A better one for us as a people, without all the horrors of the world. A utopia I guess. That, or one with magic and mythical creatures cause that’d make every dream I have come true. (Maybe every nightmare too but oh well, I still want it)
What are some troubles you face on a daily basis?
my inner struggle with self-esteem and my identity, my concerns about my mental health and helplessness about getting help for that, my lack of trust in myself, my interactions with my parents, trying to succeed academically while being in a horrible mental state, managing my relationship so I don’t lose it, trying to deal with the fact that I feel cut off from my friends and trying to keep functioning despite all that
What is one scene from a book that makes you really sad?
In Elantris, by Brandon Sanderson, there is a scene where everything is going to shit, and Raoden sees everything falling apart. Shaor’s men get through Saolin’s men’s brigade and attack Sarene and the noble women as they’re giving out food to the Elantrians. The nobles freak out, Sarene thinks Raoden betrayed her, and then after that, after the nobles are out of Elantris and Shaor’s men are going down on the food like ravenous beasts, Raoden finds Saolin, lost to the pain of an Elantrian, now a Hoed, chanting a mantra about how he failed his lord. Then, Raoden and the others take him to a magical pool that seems to relieve Hoed and then makes them dissolve in a finally painless death so he can have just that. (For context: Elantrians are walking dead people whose injuries don’t heal and instead the pain they cause is acute and gets worse with time instead of better. When the pain gets too much, they turn into Hoed, madmen that start repeating a mantra about their demise. Saolin was a sweet man and loyal soldier who gave his life for Raoden’s cause and I really loved him so his death affected me, especially since I hadn’t read a book in a long time).
Say something to your followers:
those of you left are heroes for bearing with my constant change of fandoms, thanks for sticking with me ^.^
I’m just gonna break the rules and only tag @darkside-cookies-913 and whoever else wants to do it is welcome to, it’s fun

The Haunting of Netflix House 5: The Netflix Dimension
What’s up Octobocops, it’s Halloweason. Let’s get spooked. Here are some movies of the horror and horror-adjacent genres that you might watch by yourself or with a party of friends or with the spirit of a long-deceased duke who lives in inhabits your house. This is part five; you know the goddamn drill by now.
Previously, on The Haunting of Netflix House:
2013: The Haunting of Netflix House
2014: The Haunting of Netflix House 2: Your Sister is a Netflix
2015: The Haunting of Netflix House 3: The Season of the Netflix
2016: The Haunting of Netflix House 4: The Netflix Master
A couple of notes for those who are new to the list:
This is being posted on October 2, 2017. For humans of the future who find this, the links may not all be up to date. Some might even expire by November 2017. Click at your own risk.
I try to offer both breadth and depth of options on this list, but it is by no means exhaustive. I’m sorry if a favorite of yours got left off. There’s a chance I just haven’t seen it yet. Feel free to reblog and add some of your favorites, but please make sure a movie is actually currently available on Netflix before jumping my shit about some nonsense I “forgot,” please and thank you.
This list is based upon movies that are available on Netflix in the US. I have no idea what is streaming on Canadian Netflix or British Netflix or Slovenian Netflix. How would I know this. Why would I know this. Please do not expect me to know this. Feel free to be the Canadian/British/Slovenian Benito and make your own list applicable to your own countryhumans.
Horror movies, by their nature, have horrific things in them. Most of these movies are violent; lots of them deal with torture, abuse, and mental illness. If some element of this jumps out to me while I’m writing these up, I’ll mention them, but if you are sensitive to or have issues with certain types of content, you might look an individual movie up on Common Sense Media first to check for content warnings.
While there are always good horror movies to be found on Netflix, if you really like scary movies, you should just get a Shudder subscription (or even just the free trial!). It has an unbeatable, well-curated selection.
All right let’s get to the goddamn movies what say
Classics (this section seems to get smaller every year):
Jaws (this is about a shark)
The Fly (the Vincent Price version, not the Jeff Goldblum one)
Gremlins (technically a Christmas movie, obviously, but maybe you’re a rebel)
The Sixth Sense (is this a classic? I mean probably your mom has heard of it, so)
Horror Comedies:
Tucker & Dale vs. Evil (highly recommended)
Little Evil (new from the maker of Tucker and Dale; great cast; more than the Omen spoof it looks like; recommended)
Troll Hunter (not horror in the traditional sense; not a “Halloween” monster; found footage style; subtitled; awesome)
Young Frankenstein (maybe you’ve heard of this one)
The Host (subtitled; not a “Halloween” monster)
Ravenous (fucking rules)
Housebound (recommended)
Patchwork (in the vein of like Re-Animator and Frankenhooker)
Deathgasm (the best the best the best; watch immediately)
The Bar
Haunted House/Ghost shit:
The Awakening
The Pact (recommended)
The Babadook (highest possible recommendation; how have you not watched this yet)
Under the Shadow (recommended; basically the Iranian Babadook)
The Canal
We Are Still Here (Barbara Crampton is in this; her name will be mentioned a few more times on this list because she is apparently a major selling point for some people)
Last Shift (haunted police station; recommended)
The Legend of Hell House (love this one; love Roddy McDowall)
I Am The Pretty Thing That Lives in the House (very slow paced but atmospheric)
Coraline (yeah, the scary stop-motion one)
Vampire shit:
Stake Land (non-traditional vampire rules; not really my jam but some people love it; no idea if the sequel is good)
Byzantium
Night Watch
Werewolf shit:
Late Phases (old blind guy vs werewolves; pretty good)
When Animals Dream (hit some similar thematic notes to Ginger Snaps, but completely different tonally; subtitled)
Zombie shit:
Train to Busan (this rules; subtitled)
Witch/Demon/Pagan shit:
At the Devil’s Door (from the maker of The Pact; not as good, still interesting)
The Void (Lovecraftian cult shit; very cool visuals and practical effects)
Baskin (subtitled; super gory; also, the protags are asshole cops who tell transphobic stories and say homophobic slurs and talk about bestiality at the beginning, so heads up; worth a watch if that doesn’t bother you)
The Devil’s Candy
Hellions (this is not *great,* but it looks good and is heavily Halloweeny)
The Wailing (fucking amazing; subtitled)
Found footage shit:
V/H/S (lots of sex, violence, and sexualized violence
V/H/S/2 (same)
V/H/S Viral (same but in a different way)
The Den (ChatRoulette the horror movie; highly highly highly recommended)
Creep (recommended)
They’re Watching (not super amazing, but it’s wild af and I kind of love it; what if House Hunters International renovated a witch house?)
Man Vs (pretty okay)
Slasher shit (needless to say, these are gory):
Wes Craven’s New Nightmare
Curse of Chucky (way better than you think it is)
Clown (the haunted clown suit movie so good that Marvel said, “Yo, this guy should be in charge of Spider-Man”)
The Windmill (it’ll do fine if you’re just looking for a new slasher; tbf it is probably the best windmill-themed slasher ever made though)
Other shit:
Monsters (really good; not “Halloween” monsters)
It Follows (hey, what’s up, it’s the best horror movie of the past decade; highest possible rec)
Sleepy Hollow (what section do Headless Horsemen go in? Dunno; the movie not the show)
The House at the End of Time (highly recommended; subtitled)
Honeymoon
Starry Eyes
White God (DOG REVENGE)
They Look Like People (this is a slow burn, but super highly recommended)
Extraordinary Tales (animated anthology of Edgar Allan Poe stories narrated by famous people; a mixed bag, but cool)
Darling (okay, so: this is a really beautiful and atmospheric film that I, generally speaking, recommend; however, it is kind of “artsy,” there is not a lot of dialogue, it is in black and white, there are some light strobing effects, rape does not occur on screen but is implied to have happened in a character’s past)
The Hallow (scary fairies)
Tales of Halloween (an anthology, so a mixed bag; okay overall, but it’s definitely Halloween-y)
The Invitation (highest possible recommendation)
Beyond the Gates (I actually did not like this very much, but some people might find it interesting, especially if you like--wait for it--Barbara Crampton)
Turbo Kid (this is not really horror, but if you like horror, especially splatter stuff, you will probably like it; it is good as shit)
Gerald’s Game (new shit from Mike Flanagan and it’s really great. Deals with lots of hard issues like abuse and such so maybe take a look at content issues if you are sensitive to that kind of stuff. Also definitely not for the squeamish, so head’s up. That said, it’s really really good)
80s/90s shit:
Hellraiser (not my style, but maybe you like this stuff, iunno)
Children of the Corn
The Craft
Non-Supernatural Thriller/Violence shit (these are violent):
Hush (Mike Flanagan directs; home invasion with a deaf woman protagonist; fucking rules)
The Silenced (haven’t actually watched this yet, but it looks good; don’t *think* it’s supernatural?; presumably subtitled)
The Eyes of My Mother (black and white; super bleak; beautiful and highly recommended)
Kristy
Dig Two Graves
We Need to Talk About Kevin (very bleak)
The Bad Batch (from the director of A Girl Walks Home Etc; only kind of horror-adjacent; Jason Momoa and Keanu Reeves are in this)
Sun Choke (visually beautiful but super art-housey, also lots of mental illness and abuse stuff in this one; also *Barbara Crampton*)
Zodiac (biography of Ted Cruz)
I Don’t Feel at Home in this World Anymore (so fucking good; very funny also)
Nightcrawler (basically a vampire movie, but with a camera instead of fangs)
Horror and Horror-Adjacent Documentaries (all the good horror docs got moved to Shudder):
The Nightmare (a doc on sleep paralysis and night terrors that is so-so as a documentary, but super effective as a horror film)
Witches: A Century of Murder (history of British witch trials, reenacted; two parts)
“But, Benito!” I hear you cry. “I don’t have Netflix for some reason! What about some other streaming services?” Yeah, all right. Here are some quick hits that are definitely not exhaustive. Just a couple of party jams you might enjoy if you’ve burned through the Netflix list.
What’s on Hulu though
10 Cloverfield Lane
Monster Squad
Fright Night (the original; a must watch if you haven’t seen it)
Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2
From Dusk Til Dawn
An American Werewolf in London
Hatchet
Pumpkinhead (check this one out if you haven’t seen it)
The Blob
I Saw the Devil (amazing)
Invasion of the Body Snatchers (either version)
Shaun of the Dead
The Loved Ones
Wolfcop
The Thing
Rigor Mortis
Borgman
The Descent
Bloodsucking Bastards
Willow Creek
Berberian Sound Studio
Plus a bunch of shit that’s also on Netflix
What about Amazon Prime you idiot
The Girl with All the Gifts
Them (not Them!)
The Witch
Hell House LLC
Neon Demon
Texas Chainsaw Massacre
Nosferatu
Green Room
Little Shop of Horrors (the Corman one, not the musical)
The Blackcoat’s Daughter
The Bay
Society
The Last Man on Earth
The Last Exorcism
What We Do in the Shadows
Amazon Prime is hard to navigate so that’s all. If I left off a favorite, it’s not because I don’t like it. It’s because it didn’t pop up in the first 20 pages of search results.
Tell me some good Shudder ones
The Innkeepers
A Tale of Two Sisters
The Gorgon
Lake Bodom
Prevenge
All the Phantasms (maybe not Ravager)
Shrew’s Nest
Noroi: The Curse
The House of the Devil
Black Sunday
Let the Right One In
Murder Party (highly recommended, esp for Halloween)
WNUF Halloween Special
Ghostwatch (play this at your party if you want to fucking win Halloween)
This list could be a million more entries long. Shudder rules.
What about Crackle/Vudu/YouTube/etc
Please shut up
As usual, please do me a solid and only circulate the current version of the list, so people aren’t clicking on dead links and thinking I’m an idiot. Again, this list is not and could not be completely exhaustive, and if I left off your favorite movie, I swear I was not targeting you personally. And, again, some of these movies are more interesting than they are good AND horror is a highly subjective experience, so your mileage may vary on some of these.
If you enjoyed this list, perhaps consider checking out some of my other Halloween-related posts:
a primer for spooky stories
a primer for Lovecraft specifically
a list of “essential” horror movies
a list of “essential” silent horror movies
a list of “essential” horror comedies
a list of suggested horror double features
a primer for Hammer horror
a list of cool movies starring Christopher Lee and Vincent Price
this list of resources, including short films and even more scary movies
a suggested Halloween playlist
a primer for spooky classical music
the scariest 20 minutes in radio history
free to play spooky games
and my general Halloween tag, which includes short films, movie trailers, comics, stories, and more
Also maybe consider checking out my Letterboxd profile, where I rate and review movies of all types (but primarily horror) all year long and from all sorts of sources, in case you’re wondering what’s good on more than just Netflix. Also also, maybe take a look at some of my comics, several of which are appropriate for Halloween times.
Happy Halloween, nerds!

Red
I always hated the colour red.
Red, like the car that I see speed across the city streets, a trail of neon light glowing behind it, a mere speck in the bright, bustling city. Red is attention, the theatre curtains unfurling to reveal the actors, center stage, ready to perform their daily routine. It’s lipstick scrawled across a woman’s mouth, her face caked in a mask that she can’t tell apart from her skin anymore. A siren screaming in the night, a street crawling with sin as red as the devil, scarlet light shadowing the worth of their lace, encased hearts.
My eyes drift past a couple as they walk past. One’s in a red dress, the satin draping delicately around her like a headless shroud. Red is passion, the wine of which spills from a cracked glass. Its cherries, plucked straight from the tongue-tied stems of innocence and crushed under the heel of desire. A knife tears through the flesh of a fine-aged steak, letting the red juices drip and drip as we feast, hearts racing and raring like the engine of that car, faster and faster until we stall, our fuel burnt out by our own
I stop at the crossing, my heel tap-tapping on the dim-lit pavement as time drips by. The light goes red, my shadow stretches. Red is danger, the kind that flashes past your eyes as you take an extra step, jump just that little bit too far too fast. It’s danger that pools around your feet like molten magma as the sky smokes up with the ashes of the aftermath. It’s a stop sign that blew over and sticks out of the ground at a sickening angle, Extreme Catastrophe on the weather reports as the alarm bells ring and I scream and cry until my lungs are raw and red.
My pace picks up as the red dissipates, my mind still left staring at the crossing.
Red is spiteful, angry, vindictive. It takes and takes and takes, dissatisfied with the reddened bodies of bloody soldiers, devoured by the lithium-doused flames of so-called patriotism for their country. Red consumes, heat and passion dizzying the minds of all it touches until they can’t hear the cries of those around them begging for them to stop. The steady beeping of a heart monitor pierces my skull, red waves getting further and further apart as your breathing gets shallower and my tears get more frantic. My mind is slipping, the beep-beep echoing in my mind.
Beep. Beep. Beep.
And then, silence.
Red is the colour of the ending, of thoughtless sacrifice as the curtain falls, the mask-caked face forever hidden behind a crimson shroud. It’s the red roses and spider-lilies lain on the grave at a funeral, blood-soaked thorns and spindly petals engraving themselves in the stone. Somewhere, an ash-smoked sky clears as the dust settles, and the sky opens up to a mourning sunset, the sky bleeding as red as those who lie dead in the aftermath of catastrophe. The engine burns out, sputters to a halt on the side of the road.
Red is the colour that took everything away from me.
The glass cracks, and the wine spills from my eyes, tears soaking my hands as I sob uncontrollably. Red lights flicker in the distance, taunting me, as a twisted melody dances in the air. My eyes clamp shut, hands trembling as I feel them dripping red. It clouds my vision, that sickening, cloying hue. Red, red as wine spilled on the tablecloth, blood on the sheets. Red as a sacrificial lamb led to the slaughter, as the carpet of the courthouse floor as pitiless words and accusations are thrown around my head and I stare.
An accident, they said. Merely an accident, that the man in the red sports car drove too fast around the corner, didn’t see the woman in the red dress. An accident, sirens echoing in my head. It haunts me. That scene. I see it in my nightmares, the ones that make me wake up, my hands sheathed in phantom red.
But then… then I met someone. A girl in my class, with cherry curls and ruby lips, and a heart so ripe and full with love to give that I felt it would burst at the slightest touch. At first, I hated her, and why wouldn’t I? We were as different as night and day, the moon and the sun. Her brightness binded me, burning my eyes every time I looked at her.
One day, she asked me why I hated the colour red so much. I told her it was because it made me think of the end of things.
“But you know,” she said, “Just as the sun bleeds red at dusk, it rises from the ashes of the previous day at dawn. You shouldn’t think of it as the end of one thing. After all, without one day ending, another can never begin.”
I didn’t understand what she meant at first. Sometimes I still don’t. But… I think I understand it now.
Red is warmth, not just that which devours, but that which embraces. It's the flames in the fireplace on a cold winter's day, the kind that flicker languidly across the logs, curling up above their bed of ashes. It’s the tingling nerves in the back of the throat that heat up with laughter, festive uproar as someone says something outrageous once more, their filter dulled by rich Merlot. The warmth of a friends embrace as I kneel at the grave, hands blanketing mine as I try not to tremble and shake like the last russet leaf left on the tree.
Red is awakening, forgiveness of the self as I repaint the walls of my bedroom, dawnlight seeping in from afar and bathing me in a soft, ephemeral glow. Feathers rear their head from the bed of the ashes, the fire burnt out by the first petals of Spring blowing past the lacy curtains and landing on a memory, pink and white surrounding red.
Red is rebirth, the rekindling of myself as I laugh for the first time in so long, a bowl of ripe strawberries in my crimson-painted nails as she plucks one from me, shielding her eyes with one hand as she brings me in closer with the other, my face blooming with red. The ashes are gone, swept away, but the Feathers still remain, nestled behind my ear, the sun soaring over us.
But, most of all, red is her. Red is the person who showed me all there is to life, who made me see beyond the wailing sirens, the curtains covering the stage, and showed me how to see. She’s red, just like the lipstick stains she leaves on the corner of my mouth, my nose, anywhere I let her. She’s red like the streaks in her hair, her spindly satin hair that she lets fly loose as a bird at day, and yet weaves so carefully back at night.
I always hated the colour red. It was always too bright, too loud, too much to handle, and I was just a kid left alone, all alone under the sun without some shade. But now it’s different. I’m older, wiser, more experienced and as the sun sets I can finally see now that maybe, just maybe, the colour red isn’t so bad after all.
