Earth is a terrestrial planet, despite 70% of it's surface being covered in water. It has a molten iron core, and has existed for about 4.5 billion years. It's the third planet out from it's star (a yellow dwarf).

Hey All,
I've been away for some time, as we've been working really hard on something quite exciting:
let me present to you the world's first ever global ocean drainage basin map that shows all permanent and temporary water flows on the planet.
Tumblr media
This is quite big news, as far as I know this has never been done before. There are hundreds of hours of work in it (with the data + manual work as well) and it's quite a relief that they are all finished now.
But what is an ocean drainage basin map, I hear most of you asking? A couple of years ago I tried to find a map that shows which ocean does each of the world's rivers end up in. I was a bit surprised to see there is no map like that, so I just decided I'll make it myself - as usual :) Well, after realizing all the technical difficulties, I wasn't so surprised any more that it didn't exist. So yeah, it was quite a challenge but I am very happy with the result.
In addition to the global map I've created a set of 43 maps for different countries, states and continents, four versions for each: maps with white and black background, and a version for both with coloured oceans (aka polygons). Here's the global map with polygons:
Tumblr media
I know from experience that maps can be great conversation starters, and I aim to make maps that are visually striking and can effectively deliver a message. With these ocean drainage basin maps the most important part was to make them easily understandable, so after you have seen one, the others all become effortless to interpret as well. Let me know how I did, I really appreciate any and all kinds of feedback.
Here are a few more from the set, I hope you too learn something new from them. I certainly did, and I am a geographer.
Tumblr media
The greatest surprise with Europe is that its biggest river is all grey, as the Volga flows into the Caspian sea, therefore its basin counts as endorheic.
An endorheic basin is one which never reaches the ocean, mostly because it dries out in desert areas or ends up in lakes with no outflow. The biggest endorheic basin is the Caspian’s, but the area of the Great Basin in the US is also a good example of endorheic basins.
Tumblr media
I love how the green of the Atlantic Ocean tangles together in the middle.
Tumblr media
No, the dividing line is not at Cape Town, unfortunately.
Tumblr media
I know these two colours weren’t the best choice for colourblind people and I sincerely apologize for that. I’ve been planning to make colourblind-friendly versions of my maps for ages now – still not sure when I get there, but I want you to know that it’s just moved up on my todo-list. A lot further up.
Tumblr media
Minnesota is quite crazy with all that blue, right? Some other US states that are equally mind-blowing: North Dakota, New Mexico, Colorado, Wyoming. You can check them all out here.
Tumblr media
Yes, most of the Peruvian waters drain into the Atlantic Ocean. Here are the maps of Peru, if you want to take a closer look.
Tumblr media
Asia is amazingly colourful with lots of endorheic basins in the middle areas: deserts, the Himalayas and the Caspian sea are to blame. Also note how the Indonesian islands of Java and Sumatra are divided.
Tumblr media
I mentioned earlier that I also made white versions of all maps. Here’s Australia with its vast deserts. If you're wondering about the weird lines in the middle: that’s the Simpson desert with its famous parallel sand dunes.
Tumblr media
North America with white background and colourful oceans looks pretty neat, I think.
Tumblr media
Finally, I made the drainage basin maps of the individual oceans: The Atlantic, the Arctic, the Indian and the Pacific. The Arctic is my favourite one.
I really hope you like my new maps, and that they will become as popular as my river basin maps. Those have already helped dozens of environmental NGOs to illustrate their important messages all around the world. It would be nice if these maps too could find their purpose.

NASA Inspires Your Crafty Creations for World Embroidery Day
It’s amazing what you can do with a little needle and thread! For #WorldEmbroideryDay, we asked what NASA imagery inspired you. You responded with a variety of embroidered creations, highlighting our different areas of study.
Here’s what we found:
Webb’s Carina Nebula
Tumblr media
Wendy Edwards, a project coordinator with Earth Science Data Systems at NASA, created this embroidered piece inspired by Webb’s Carina Nebula image. Captured in infrared light, this image revealed for the first time previously invisible areas of star birth. Credit: Wendy Edwards, NASA. Pattern credit: Clare Bray, Climbing Goat Designs
Wendy Edwards, a project coordinator with Earth Science Data Systems at NASA, first learned cross stitch in middle school where she had to pick rotating electives and cross stitch/embroidery was one of the options.  “When I look up to the stars and think about how incredibly, incomprehensibly big it is out there in the universe, I’m reminded that the universe isn’t ‘out there’ at all. We’re in it,” she said. Her latest piece focused on Webb’s image release of the Carina Nebula. The image showcased the telescope’s ability to peer through cosmic dust, shedding new light on how stars form.
Ocean Color Imagery: Exploring the North Caspian Sea
Tumblr media
Danielle Currie of Satellite Stitches created a piece inspired by the Caspian Sea, taken by NASA’s ocean color satellites. Credit: Danielle Currie/Satellite Stitches
Danielle Currie is an environmental professional who resides in New Brunswick, Canada. She began embroidering at the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic as a hobby to take her mind off the stress of the unknown. Danielle’s piece is titled “46.69, 50.43,” named after the coordinates of the area of the northern Caspian Sea captured by LandSat8 in 2019.

Two Hubble Images of the Pillars of Creation, 1995 and 2015
Tumblr media
Melissa Cole of Star Stuff Stitching created an embroidery piece based on the Hubble image Pillars of Creation released in 1995. Credit: Melissa Cole, Star Stuff Stitching
Melissa Cole is an award-winning fiber artist from Philadelphia, PA, USA, inspired by the beauty and vastness of the universe. They began creating their own cross stitch patterns at 14, while living with their grandparents in rural Michigan, using colored pencils and graph paper.  The Pillars of Creation (Eagle Nebula, M16), released by the Hubble Telescope in 1995 when Melissa was just 11 years old, captured the imagination of a young person in a rural, religious setting, with limited access to science education.
Tumblr media
Lauren Wright Vartanian of the shop Neurons and Nebulas created this piece inspired by the Hubble Space Telescope’s 2015 25th anniversary re-capture of the Pillars of Creation. Credit:  Lauren Wright Vartanian, Neurons and Nebulas
Lauren Wright Vartanian of Guelph, Ontario Canada considers herself a huge space nerd. She’s a multidisciplinary artist who took up hand sewing after the birth of her daughter. She’s currently working on the illustrations for a science themed alphabet book, made entirely out of textile art. It is being published by Firefly Books and comes out in the fall of 2024. Lauren said she was enamored by the original Pillars image released by Hubble in 1995. When Hubble released a higher resolution capture in 2015, she fell in love even further! This is her tribute to those well-known images.
James Webb Telescope Captures Pillars of Creation
Tumblr media
Darci Lenker of Darci Lenker Art, created a rectangular version of Webb’s Pillars of Creation. Credit:  Darci Lenker of Darci Lenker Art
Darci Lenker of Norman, Oklahoma started embroidery in college more than 20 years ago, but mainly only used it as an embellishment for her other fiber works. In 2015, she started a daily embroidery project where she planned to do one one-inch circle of embroidery every day for a year.  She did a collection of miniature thread painted galaxies and nebulas for Science Museum Oklahoma in 2019. Lenker said she had previously embroidered the Hubble Telescope’s image of Pillars of Creation and was excited to see the new Webb Telescope image of the same thing. Lenker could not wait to stitch the same piece with bolder, more vivid colors.
Milky Way
Tumblr media
Darci Lenker of Darci Lenker Art was inspired by NASA’s imaging of the Milky Way Galaxy. Credit: Darci Lenker
In this piece, Lenker became inspired by the Milky Way Galaxy, which is organized into spiral arms of giant stars that illuminate interstellar gas and dust. The Sun is in a finger called the Orion Spur.
The Cosmic Microwave Background
Tumblr media
This image shows an embroidery design based on the cosmic microwave background, created by Jessica Campbell, who runs Astrostitches. Inside a tan wooden frame, a colorful oval is stitched onto a black background in shades of blue, green, yellow, and a little bit of red. Credit: Jessica Campbell/ Astrostitches
Jessica Campbell obtained her PhD in astrophysics from the University of Toronto studying interstellar dust and magnetic fields in the Milky Way Galaxy. Jessica promptly taught herself how to cross-stitch in March 2020 and has since enjoyed turning astronomical observations into realistic cross-stitches. Her piece was inspired by the cosmic microwave background, which displays the oldest light in the universe.

GISSTEMP: NASA’s Yearly Temperature Release
Tumblr media
Katy Mersmann, a NASA social media specialist, created this embroidered piece based on NASA’s Goddard Institute for Space Studies (GISS) global annual temperature record. Earth’s average surface temperature in 2020 tied with 2016 as the warmest year on record. Credit: Katy Mersmann, NASA
Katy Mersmann is a social media specialist at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Md. She started embroidering when she was in graduate school. Many of her pieces are inspired by her work as a communicator. With climate data in particular, she was inspired by the researchers who are doing the work to understand how the planet is changing. The GISTEMP piece above is based on a data visualization of 2020 global temperature anomalies, still currently tied for the warmest year on record.
In addition to embroidery, NASA continues to inspire art in all forms. Check out other creative takes with Landsat Crafts and the James Webb Space telescope public art gallery.

Live from Baku
Word count: 1.2k
Pairing: Toto Wolff x sky sports!reader
Summary: On her first race day as a Sky Sports presenter at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, Y/N navigates the chaos of a live grid interview with Toto Wolff, only to be caught off guard by him
________________________________________________________
Standing on the grid at the Baku City Circuit in Azerbaijan, with the imposing skyscrapers towering above and the Caspian Sea glittering in the distance, I still couldn’t quite believe I was here. This was my first full weekend as a Sky Sports F1 presenter, and everything about the moment felt surreal—the roar of engines, the scent of hot rubber and gasoline in the air, and the palpable excitement humming through the paddock.
Getting to this point had been a journey. Motorsport had always fascinated me, ever since I was a kid watching races on TV. My path into journalism wasn’t typical, but I’d clawed my way up from writing small blogs about motorsport to landing freelance pieces that covered F1. Eventually, those freelance jobs turned into bigger opportunities, and a few key interviews caught the attention of Sky Sports.
This gig with the Sky team was a dream come true, but it was also overwhelming. Friday and Saturday had passed in a blur—back-to-back segments, shadowing the seasoned presenters, learning how to manage the fast pace of the weekend, and absorbing as much as I could. The Baku Grand Prix was known for being unpredictable, chaotic even, and my first weekend here was no exception. I had to stay sharp, not just for the interviews but because the world of F1 is relentless. One mistake and the audience would pick up on it instantly.
By Sunday, race day, I had gotten a taste of the pressure. I’d already done some pre-race interviews, navigating through the throngs of team members, engineers, and VIPs walking the grid. The noise was deafening, the anticipation thick, but I was starting to find my rhythm. Being here, in the center of the chaos, was a rush like nothing else.
I stood next to Bernie, one of the veteran presenters, prepping for our next live segment. We were getting ready to speak to Toto Wolff, the Mercedes team principal. I’d seen countless interviews with him, and I admired how composed and sharp he always was, even under the immense pressure of race weekends. We had spoken to Christian Horner just minutes ago, and I expected this to be another routine conversation—just a few questions about race strategy, the pressure of the championship battle, and Mercedes’ performance. But nothing could have prepared me for what was about to unfold.
The engines revved in the background as Toto strode over to us. He was tall, confident, his stride purposeful. My heart raced—not out of nerves anymore, but out of anticipation. This was it: a live interview with one of the most powerful figures in Formula 1.
The grid was alive with the sound of roaring engines and the buzz of anticipation as the Azerbaijan Grand Prix was minutes away from starting. Bernie stood beside me, microphone in hand, her sharp eyes scanning the chaotic scene. I still couldn’t believe I was here, my first race weekend as a presenter for Sky Sports, and here we were, about to interview Toto Wolff.
Bernie nudged me with her elbow, her Northern Irish accent cutting through the noise. “Right, love. Time for Mercedes. Ye ready?” she asked, her voice laced with a mixture of warmth and professionalism.
I nodded, gripping my microphone a little tighter. “Ready,” I said, though my nerves fluttered in my stomach.
As Toto Wolff approached us, his towering frame moving easily through the grid, Bernie took the lead, her years of experience evident. She raised her microphone, smiling at Toto. “Toto! Good ta see ya. We’re just a few minutes away from lights out, how’s Mercedes feelin’ today?”
Toto smiled down at us, leaning slightly closer to hear over the roar of the engines. “Good to see you too, Bernie,” he replied smoothly, raising his own microphone. “We’re feeling confident. Yesterday’s qualifying was tough, but we’ve made some adjustments, and we’re ready for the fight.”
I was next, and though my heart raced, I reminded myself to stay calm. This was live television, and I had to focus. I stepped forward, lifting my mic and directing my question toward him. “Toto, after qualifying yesterday, do you think Mercedes is in a good position for today’s race?”
Toto leaned down toward me, his large frame towering over my much smaller one. It was so loud that I had to repeat the question. “Do you feel confident about today after yesterday’s performance?” I asked again, speaking directly into his ear.
His smile widened, and he straightened slightly, his eyes locking onto mine for a second longer than necessary. “Ah, yes,” he said smoothly, his voice almost teasing. “Confidence is always high, especially today. But I think having good company helps.”
I blinked, caught off guard by the way he said it. Was he flirting? No, surely not—this was live TV, after all. I forced a smile, assuming I was reading too much into it, and stepped back as Bernie jumped in with her next question.
“Now, Toto,” Bernie said, her accent making the words flow with a familiar rhythm, “what can we expect from yer strategy today? Red Bull’s been puttin’ the pressure on. Any surprises from Mercedes?”
Toto’s gaze flicked back to me for a split second before he turned to answer Bernie. “Well, we’ve got a few things planned,” he said with that same easy confidence. “But sometimes, surprises just… happen. Some things you can’t plan for.” His voice dipped slightly on the last part, and again, I felt a flutter of something—was it nerves? Or something else entirely?
Bernie shot me a quick look, one eyebrow raised ever so slightly, but she kept things professional as always. “Well, sounds like we’re in for a good race,” she said, wrapping things up. “Thank ye, Toto, for yer time. Best of luck.”
Toto nodded and gave his usual polite smile, but before he walked away, he turned back toward me, leaning down once again. “Before I go,” he said, his voice softer, meant only for me, “I’d like to get to know you better. Maybe after the race… I could get your number?”
I stared at him, momentarily frozen. Was this really happening? On the grid? Live? Before I could even process a response, his team radio crackled, pulling him away. “Toto, we need you back at the garage,” the voice of an engineer called through his earpiece.
He smiled one last time, giving me a small wink. “Think about it, *liebling*,” he added with a grin before heading off toward the Mercedes garage, disappearing into the crowd.
I stood there for a moment, my microphone still in hand, mind racing as I processed what had just happened. Bernie glanced at me, a smirk playing on her lips. “Did he just…?” I asked quietly, still unsure of what to make of it.
Bernie raised an eyebrow, her accent thick as she whispered back, Flirt wit’ ye? Aye, I reckon he did.”
I felt my cheeks flush as Bernie chuckled softly beside me. “On live TV, no less,” she added with a shake of her head, her voice full of amusement.
We stood there for a moment longer, the noise of the grid surging around us, but all I could think about was what had just happened with Toto Wolff. My first race day, and it was already unforgettable in ways I hadn’t expected.

Albatrio headcanons because I say so (all canon btw trust me I’m grizzlyplays)
Jay:
- she braids hair when she’s nervous. Especially in the Black Sea, Gillion and Chip have been walking around with little braids in their hair and Jay has an intricately braided bun with feathers, beads and wire intertwined with her hair.
- she loves baked goods. Every island they visit a small, wrapped box of regional pastries will show up in the kitchen. Her favourite has been a warm, iced cinnamon log from Joaldo.
- She reads the newspaper.
- She speaks primordial with a similar accent to Caspian. Since the water genasi are so nomadic, it would make sense for her to have teachers breeze through on short contracts to support their tribes, so she picked it up from her various teachers.
- she had a flower garden with Ayva before she passed. The garden became Jays passion project, a way to cope with the loss of her sister. She converted it into a memorial, with a small fountain and a bed of forget-me-nots. While Jay has been out at sea, May has been using some Druidic magic to keep the garden alive.
- she used to have cat named “Sugar”. It turned out to be a Quasit belonging to the local warlock.
- Jay collects sea glass
- she has aphantasia.
Chip:
- he has frequent nightmares about his crew and co-captains dying. It is not uncommon to hear quiet footsteps around the Albatross in the wee hours of the morning, as he checks the breath of each member of his crew.
- He doesnt remember his parents. But he has given them names, in his head, just in case they didn’t give him up. He’s told Reuben about that. He called it dumb. Chip never told anyone else.
- he has a stash of non-perishables in the floorboards of the captains quarters. Just in case.
- sorry these are all so sad but hhhhh he has body dysmorphia. He’s never felt “good-looking” and no one’s ever really told him, so he has a lot of anxiety about his appearance and uses the bandana constantly. This was made worse with his undeath.
- May cooked Chip a steak when they were at her tavern c.a ep 98, to help him and Jay decompress after the stress of Gillion’s near-death. It’s the best meal he’s ever eaten.
- He loves crabs. They remind him of when Arlin used to take him crab-spotting in the southern sea beaches. When they got back to Canella, Chip took Ollie too.
- Reuben used to teach him sea shanties he’d heard in and around the taverns by the port on Skullslice. He remembers all of them.
- there were a good 3 years from when chip was 9-11 where he wasn’t hugged once.
- he’s really good at darts.
- Chip has cried in front of four people in his entire life: Arlin, Reuben, Jay and Gillion. He has only ever really lost it to Reuben though. It was on his 14th birthday when he momentarily forgot what Arlin looked like.
- he has a lip ring. That’s it.
Gillion:
- Gillion would love Spider-Man.
- he really enjoys spicy, fermented, and salty foods. They remind him of home.
- Gillion didn’t talk for 3 days after shattering his Callnch.
- the elders wanted him to learn more languages, but it was a struggle for him to pick up common, so they abandoned the idea. Gillion still tries to learn celestial though, managing some very broken phrases from Chip.
- He loves pillows, but they can’t really be a thing in the undersea, so hes been working with Jay on making a waterproof pillow for him and pretzel.
- His coral gives him headaches.
- He suffers from asthma and joint pain due to the change in his environment
- Gillion had a small collection of mini stone leviathans he had been carving his entire life. He was almost done with Pelegus before he was exiled
- he has a love of history. It was his favourite subject growing up.
- He had so many imaginary friends.
- he and Edyn made up a secret language to communicate to each other without the elders knowing. He remembers every word.

The Voyage of the Dawn Treader movie is so much better when I put it in the context of Peter being just about to turn 18, and Edmund is wrestling with that, trying to prepare himself to let Peter go (even though he's already done one term at school without him), and trying to stand on his own without Peter, figure out just who he is without his brother.
I think the implication in the movie is that Peter went to America too, but forget that. Peter's visiting Professor Kirke for the summer, at his little cottage in the country, and working on a farm as well as getting tutoring for university entrance exams, even though he knows he's not going to be going in for a few years, or however long the war lasts.
Ed hates the idea of Peter going off to war without him. Lucy is feeling left behind by everyone (parents and Su in America, Peter on the verge of becoming a soldier, and Ed wanting to join him).
Ed by turns latching onto and getting annoyed at Caspian, because he's not Peter, but it's like having Peter there, and Caspian doesn't understand what he and Peter have, but Ed can see how much Caspian wishes for a brother, and they do become that for each other in the end.
Ed wielding Rhindon at the end, Peter's sword in his hand, like Peter hasn't left him after all, and Peter's love and Aslan’s promise are louder and brighter than any ghost or sea serpent ever could be.
Lucy shooting with Susan's bow, because she doesn't have to be Susan (or Peter or Ed) to be like her in protecting the people she loves, she just has to use what Aslan has given her.
Ed knowing he's gonna go back to England and Peter's going to come celebrate his birthday with them before he signs up, so he hugs Caspian extra hard, because Caspian's going to have to go on alone too.
(But not alone, no. They have the Lion's promise. They all do.)

Pairing: Peter Pevensie x Reader Rating || Genres || Warnings: T. Romance. Hurt/Comfort. A/N: Love me some insecurities. They're easy to get rid of in prompts and fics : P Anywho! I hope you enjoy!
Tumblr media
For as long as you could remember it had always been you and Peter. Peter and you. Neither of you were without the other for long. And given how your fathers were friends, it didn't take long for them to begin joking around that perhaps you both would marry when you grew up.
And while the concept of marriage was something neither of you could grasp given how young you were, it seemed you and Peter both understood that the bond the two of you had was deeper.
Much deeper then that shared between two friends.
Even at such a young age.
And so over the years, nothing could separate you.
Not when you both went to different boarding schools. Not when you moved a few blocks away from his house. Not when your fathers went away to fight. Not when the bombings began. Not when you were sent to the countryside and far away from each other.
Not even when he returned with a new light in his eyes and tales of a land called Narnia.
Tales of another world in a wardrobe. Tales of talking animals, a witch and magic, Aslan the lion and Peter being king.
And though you did not understand most of it, you believed him. Peter had never lied to you before, why would he start to do so now. And there was something different about him. Then again there was something different about all of them. While it was the war that had effected you so much, for the Pevensie siblings it was the entire life they had lived in Narnia.
And while a small part inside you wished you could see this majestic world for yourself, it was not to be. Besides the war had ended and you would all be going back to school soon.
However, what you had not been expecting, was to be whisked away to the very place Peter and his siblings had told you about.
You had stood in utter awe and disbelief as you stared at the area where the train had been a few moments ago.
While Susan, Edmund and Lucy had rushed to play into the ever-blue water of the sea you stayed where you were, frozen. Peter had taken your hand and, smiling, had led you down the beach and into the water.
And though you did not understand your purpose in this strange new world, you did what you had always done best.
You stood by Peter.
You stood by him when he and his siblings realized what had happened when they had suddenly disappeared. How Narnia had fallen. And was at war again. There was another who would be king instead of Peter.
You saw how it effected Peter and it broke your heart.
Though it had never been said, you knew your heart belonged to him since you were children. And though Peter had reciprocated those feelings, since his first trip to Narnia, he had been pulling back from you.
As if there was an invisible wall between the both of you.
Though now, that you were in Narnia with him, you hoped it would bring you two closer.
However it was the exact opposite. He was obsessed with the idea of taking charge once more. Of bringing back the old Narnia. Of showing that he was still King.
Despite there already being a potential candidate in Prince Caspian.
And of course, when he was not able to meet his own expectations who did he lash out on?
You.
You were just there. You were only trying to help.
To talk to him after the failed attempt to storm the palace and take out Miraz. After he had snapped at Caspian you had walked after Peter, trying to talk to him. To ease his mind.
But then he had snapped at you.
"I don't need your help Y/n. I never needed you. Not here. Not back home. So stop it! Stop following after me and just leave. You don't belong here!"
Your insides had turned to ice. He had walked away without a second glance, leaving you to drop to your knees.
Thankfully Susan was there to catch you. But that was all she could do. She had to tend to other matters, such as the almost return of Jadis the White Witch. And during the confusion that followed, you had slipped out of Aslan's How and into the forest.
You were not needed here in Narnia.
Peter didn't need you.
No one did.
Tears blurred your vision and you stumbled through the trees as you fell to the ground. For awhile you didn't move, sobbing your heart out in your arms and allowing yourself to feel. It was a good while later, when your tears had dried that you finally turned on your back. But you didn't get up and simply laid there staring up at the trees. You didn't know how long you laid there, what you did know was that someone or something had come to rest beside you.
Your head turned to see a majestic yet terrifying figure of a lion sitting beside you.
"Aslan?" You whispered in disbelief, sitting up as you stared at the Lion. He chuckled deep and low. "I take it your friends told you all about me." Still a little shocked you gave a small nod. "Lucy did. And......Peter." The thought of him had your heart giving a painful twinge in your chest as you furiously brushed away the tears.
"Why do you cry dear one?" He asked, in a voice so gentle and kind that you burst into tears all over again. And you couldn't help it, couldn't help yourself as you threw your arms against his soft mane and told him the whole story.
Once you were bereft of tears, and your heart was considerably lighter, you pulled away from Aslan, only to avert your gaze, feeling a little ashamed of your outburst.
"There is no need to feel ashamed of letting out your emotions dear one." He comforted you once more. "We must all do so lest we allow them to fester inside and become something sinister." You nodded, wiping the tear stains from your cheeks.
"Yes, you're right. But what shall I do now? I am not needed here." You whispered, once again feeling all the more lost. Aslan chuckled. "I would not have called you here if I didn't think you were needed Y/n." His words caused you to look up at him in surprise. You were just about to voice it too when you heard your name being called out.
Instantly you tensed. It was Peter.
He was calling your name in the distant as he looked for you.
But you didn't want to go to him.
Not when he had hurt you so much.
"He shall not find you unless you wish to be found." Once again Aslan reassured you to which you gave him a small smile in thanks. You continued to listen to Peter, calling your name and apologizing as he cut through the brush.
Finally, he appeared in the clearing that you occupied with Aslan. He couldn't see either of you, but you could see him.
You watched as he gazed around in despair before shouting your name once more. Receiving no response, Peter seemed to loose whatever hope he had left and dropped to his knees.
"Y/n. Please come back! I'm sorry! I'm sorry I was so horrible to you! You didn't deserve it. You were just trying to help." The words were spoken in a low voice, but were loud enough for you to hear.
Despite your anger and sadness, you glanced in Aslan's direction. He gave you an encouraging nod to which you heaved a sigh and stood.
Peter had his face buried in his hands, so he didn't hear you approach. Reaching out you placed a hand on his shoulder. He instantly looked up. Where his eyes had been full of despair, they were replaced with utter joy at the sight of you.
He cried out your name, before embracing you so tight you could hardly breath. You barely returned the gesture and he felt it. A sadness overtook his happiness and he pulled back.
"I hurt you? Didn't I?"
You gave a silent nod.
"I'm sorry." He gazed at you with pleading eyes. You gave him another silent nod before walking past him to return to Aslan's How.
You had accepted his apology, but it would take some time for you to forgive him completely.
                                         ————————–
Over the years since you had known Peter you had exchanged a few kisses here and there.
There was that first time when you were just children and had been curious about what a kiss was. So you had closed your eyes, and bumped your lips against his.
It was awkward and childish, but you both discovered it wasn't all that bad.
The second time you had kissed was just before you had been separated by the war. The night before you got on your respective trains to the countryside, you and Peter had met under your bedroom window. He had come to say goodbye and you had clung to him, afraid that this would be the last time you would see him. There was no telling if even the countryside would remain safe from the armies.
That night was the first time you told him you loved him.
And he had returned the sentiment before kissing you.
You had kissed him back, before reluctantly watching him go.
The third time you had kissed was when the both of you met once again. It had been full of joy and sheer happiness. And since there was an audience nearby it had been short and sweet.
You had though that perhaps what had always simmered under the surface between you and Peter would come to the forefront since your reunion. But that dream was shattered when he had begun to pull back from you. Those fleeting moments took a backseat as you fought to stay in Peter's life without overstepping. A herculean task since Peter had been rather quick to anger the past few months.
Of course all your hard work vanished in that one moment of despair when Peter had yelled at you. You understood he was under a lot of pressure, but you had only been trying to help. And given the danger everyone was in, it would seem whatever involved you and Peter would have to wait until the war was over.
Or so you thought.
Your heart was in your throat as you raced through the How. It was a good thing your feet knew where you were supposed to go, because the way your mind was stuck on the conversation you had just had with Lucy, it was a miracle you even reached your destination.
Peter.
Miraz.
Single-combat.
Bursting through the door of the room Peter was sharing with Edmund you skidded to a halt. Chest heaving, hair in utter disarray and an almost wild look in your eyes you very nearly screamed at your best friend.
"Have you lost your senses completely?"
Both Peter and Edmund looked up from where they had been suiting up for the battle ahead. Edmund pursed his lips, glancing in his brother's direction before picking up his sword and quickly walked out of the room. You barely noticed as he walked past, hardly looked away from Peter as the door shut behind him leaving the both of you alone.
Peter inhaled deeply before exhaling softly. "It is the only way to ensure as little bloodshed as possible." He stated, pulling at the straps of his gauntlets to make sure they were as tight as they could be. "Everyone wants this war to be over and this is the quickest way to-" But you cut him off.
"I don't care about that! What I care about is that my best friend has offered to fight a man, twice his age and twice as experienced, in single combat." You felt the sting of tears behind your eyes but you blinked them away. Peter raised an eyebrow at you. "I can assure you Y/n, I'm just as experienced as him, if not more." Standing up he smiled softly at you. "You should have faith in my abilities."
You shook your head. "I'm not doubting your abilities Peter. Its just....." You trailed off, your gaze locking with his. It was then that you realized that he was just as afraid of what lay ahead. Just as you were.
There was a beat of silence where neither of you moved or spoke. The distance of a few feet between you seemed to stretch on as you tried your best to not let your mind wander to the worst possible scenario.
One that had Peter loosing and being kil-
"I don't want you to die."
The words were barely above a whisper, and yet they seemed to echo all around the both of you. Peter's expression shifted to a soft look, one that he reserved for his youngest sister and you. "It won't come to that-" He tried to reassure you but you quickly shook your head as you stepped forward to grasp his hand between both of your own.
"No, Peter. You have to promise me. Promise me you won't die." Your voice was desperate, your eyes filled with a despair that should never be seen in the eyes of a child. Because that was what you were, what you both were.
Children, fighting in a war that wasn't even yours. And yet both of you wanted to help those in danger. Help them get their home back.
"I ca-I can't loose you Peter. Please. Please say you won't die." Your words were beginning to merge together, your voice sounding breathless as you struggled to convey the depth of your fear to him. To show him just how much you meant to him.
And it was a testament to your being friends for years that Peter was able to understand you completely and was able to determine what was it you needed in that moment to calm you down.
You were still whispering nonsensically as his head leaned down to close whatever distance was left between you. But the moment his lips brushed against your own, you fell silent. Your tears stilled, your eyes fluttered shut and you returned the kiss just as fiercely as it was given.
Fourth.
This was your fourth kiss. And you hoped and prayed with all your heart that it would be not your last.
Your hands were still clasping one of his between your bodies. His other hand came to rest against your cheek, brushing the soft skin with his thumb. Chaste and innocent though it was, there was no denying the passion and sheer devotion that was evident in the way he gazed at you when he pulled back. Your own eyes shone with love for the boy in front of you. Sighing softly, you lifted one hand to gently run your fingers through his hair, pushing some of the loose strands back so they wouldn't get in his eyes.
"I always thought it was a blessing that we were both so young when the war started back home." You spoke softly. "Because I knew that you would enlist and I would have to say goodbye to you." You knew how much he had wanted to enlist, how much he hated not being of age. And while you had been a good friend and reassured him, secretly you had been glad because them being young meant that you both were safe. As much as you could be.
A small laugh fell from your lips, as your fingers slowly stroked along his face, mesmerized by the color of his eyes as Peter all but leaned into your affection. "Yet here were are, in another world, and I'm doing the exact thing I was so afraid of doing back in England." He shook his head, leaning forward to press his forehead against yours, noses brushing as he did.
"This isn't a goodbye Y/n." He whispered gently, hoping to ease your worry. "You will be right there with me, and knowing that will give me the strength I need to defeat Miraz."
He continued. "I know everyone thinks we're to young for it, but I do love you Y/n, and I wan-" "I love you too." He stopped talking at your confession, prompting you to smile. "I know we've already told each other that, but I guess this is sort of like a promise we're making."
A determined gleam came over your eyes as you looked at him. "To survive this war together, and have our own happily ever after."
He chuckled at your choice of words. "Just like in those fairy tales you love so much."
"Well fairy tales usually have a prince, a princess, a villain and strange creatures don't they?" You countered, prompting him to grin.
"Well we have a villain, and we do have many many strange creatures, centaurs, fauns, dwarves, talking animals." He hummed in thought. "Which leaves us with the prince and princess."
You shrugged. "Well we have a King." You gestured towards him and he nodded. "True, but a King is nothing without his Queen." He watched with a grin on his face as a blush stole across your cheeks, and you finally looked away from him. Clearing your throat you swallowed. "Well I'm sure you had plenty of options when you were here last."
Though you knew what he had meant to say, you still couldn't help but tease him. It was just how things were between the two of you. He nodded. "I did, but I never gave it much thought. Because I never forgot you."
Sighing you shook your head at his attempt to win you over further, which you had to admit was happening. Your arms came up to wrap around his shoulders as you settled your head in the crook of his neck. Peter returned the embrace, burying his nose in your hair and basking in your presence.
Neither of you were ready to let go, and you didn't for a long time. A soft knock and Edmund calling out to the both of you was what finally broke the spell and you stepped away from each other. Though not completely. Reaching behind Peter, you picked up his helmet, the last of his armor piece and place it on his head.
There were no tears in your eyes now, only sheer determination as you fixed him with a look. "Come back to me."
He raised your hand to his lips, brushing them against your knuckles. "I promise."
Hand in hand, you both stepped out of the room ready to face whatever challenge lay before you.
Together.

do you ever think about the fact that it’s possible drey ferin and caspian are the same/similar age.
do you ever think about the fact drey was only in his early twenties at the time of the hole in the sea.
do you ever think about the fact that he finally tasted freedom on his breath, he finally felt a hint of that acceptance and that love he never got from his family. the fact that he was finally loved not for how well he followed rules, but for being himself. the fact that he finally found his place w the black rose pirates.
do you ever think about the fact that he lost ten years of himself to the hole in the sea. ten years of his mind. ten years of his life. of the people he loved. jay was still in school playing with dolls, and by the time he saw her again, his niece had grown into a whole adult.
do you ever think about the fact that chip now is nearly the same age that drey was in the oneshot. how do you think he feels knowing chip, in the end, fell to the same thing he did; the black sea.
do you ever think about drey ferin being. yknow. a ferin. the sureshot of the ship. and not being able to use his arms anymore.
do you think about how he was SO FUCKING YOUNG DURING THE EVENTS OF THE HOLE IN THE SEA LIKE I DONT THINK YOU ARE HEARING ME HE WAS YOUNG. HE BARELY MADE IT PAST BEING A TEENAGER. HE IS NOT AN OLD MAN HES HARDLY IN HIS 30S

Guys, I think Grizzly hid lore in Dark Puckered Hole.
NOW JUST- JUST HEAR ME OUT. (Mieru, look away).
I’m not just talking about the potential purity culture of the Undersea being exposed through Finn’s self exploration… I’m talking RAFT lore.
In Chapter 69, “Behind Bars,” of Dark Puckered Hole, Finn Tidestrider is imprisoned “somewhere in the eastern sea” with another triton, who is on the brink of death. They fall in love and bang before the anonymous convict passes in Finn’s arms, but that’s not what I’m focusing on. Im focusing on the presence of another triton, an injured one, in the Oversea, especially the Sakura Ocean.
Historically in Mana, Finn Tidestrider was one of, if not, THE FIRST to leave the Undersea behind. A decade or so-so later, in modern day Riptide, there have been practically no other triton. Gillion, who was banished, and Edyn, who left to find and avenge him, are the only ones. Even more so, the only other Undersea characters are found in the Undersea (Unnamed NPCs in The Tank OR Felipe, a grung, being from Liquidus) or having left it behind for personal reasons a la Edyn (Caspian, a water genasi). When the Tidestrider siblings go around Allport, they have to wear cloaks to avoid standing out. There aren’t even other triton in Liquidus!
So how, why, is there another triton in the oversea? Finn himself is shocked by his presence. “In this prison, to find another man from the Undersea… my mind raced with questions.” He doesn’t dwell on this weirdness because his questions are drowned out by the sound of his blood beneath his skin, rushing downward, BUT it’s very bizarre, no?
Another detail: Why was the other triton on the verge of death? Of course, inadequate care, but could he have been thrown back into the cell like that? Whoever imprisoned them did not care about their lives. They could live, or they could die.
To go further, isn’t it kind of weird how Finn Tidestrider doesn’t specify where his imprisonment is? He is a very detailed author. He could have said one of the villages in Onawa Country or anything else to feed more detail into his writing, but he didn’t. I feel like the reason he wouldn’t be specific is because he himself was unsure exactly of where he was. He was taken in secret, likely kept out of sight while being arrested and transported to his cell.
I also have to wonder… who imprisoned them? I think you know what I’m getting at. I think RAFT did. RAFT has the resources. RAFT has the political sway. RAFT has governmental power. And it’s worsened by the fact that this imprisonment occurred in the Eastern Sea, the site of the Promised Bastion, where triton are imprisoned, tortured, skinned, and experimented on…
Judging by the fact that Finn refers to the other triton’s you-know-what as “a lighthouse to guide this lost sailor home,” Finn was likely a part of the Black Rose Pirates at the time. He couldn’t hide his presence in the Oversea as a crewmate for a pirate lord, let alone Captain Rose. Finn was on wanted posters, Finn was in newspaper headlines, Finn was a published author. I think RAFT had its eyes on him, but when they arrested or kidnapped him, it wasn’t for crimes of piracy… at least not on the surface.
I think this experimentation on Undersea people and gods has been going on for a long time, and Dark Puckered Hole could be evidence of this fact. Finn was intended to be a source of skin, of blood, and of magic for RAFT’s experimentation in the artificial leviathan and black ops projects. His lover was too, maybe already was (I say maybe because Finn doesn’t allude to the idea that he was physically ripped apart… that would have been unignorable). Finn probably only made it out because he’s that strong (in episode 82, when Drey is talking to and comforting Jay, he said Finn was terrifying when angry or passionate) or his crew came to his rescue.
I think political and military purposes against the pirates weren’t the only reasons RAFT wanted to ally with the Undersea. “Joining forces” with them led either to less suspicion as they funneled triton out of the ocean and to the recently abandoned Promised Bastion, or coming to dominate them allowed RAFT to simply take triton without enough pushback. Either way, without their Champion to rise against them (the one triton on the hooks accused Gillion of abandoning them), they’ve been taken en masse. And maybe Edyn’s collaboration with the navy permitted her some of this knowledge, and that’s how she knew to hide Gillion from prying eyes in navy territory.
Uhhh tldr: It’s weird that there’s an injured triton in the Eastern Oversea. I think DPH could imply that Finn and his lover were imprisoned by RAFT as test subjects for the artificial leviathan and black ops projects, proving the longevity of Fay Ferin’s plans.

Mermaid Kisses
Prince/King Caspian x mermaid!reader
A/n: this is probably one of my least favorite works as I had no motivation to write it.
Warnings: mentions of cuts, bruises, and gashes.
Category: fluff
Word Count: 700-800
-
“{Name}?” Caspian stood at the edge of the shore. He brushed aside strands of his brunette hair as the winds blew against his tall frame. In his hand he gripped a single red rose. It wasn't the fanciest of gifts, but to you it was as valuable as a white-toothed cowry. Which is why he chose it to propose to you with.
"Caspian!" He heard you call out. He turned his gaze toward the sea. He was met with the sight of your figure swimming toward the shore. When you arrived, he prepared to speak but you cut him off.
“I have a surprise for you!” You flipped your fish-like tail excitedly. You reached into the pouch that was tied to your waist and began digging through the trinkets that were stored inside.
As he waited, Caspian noticed the various cuts and bruises on your wet skin. Among those wounds was a large gash on the side of your torso. Upon seeing this, Caspian dropped the rose in his grip and immediately knelt down in the sand beside you.
“You’re bleeding. Come here, let me help you.”
“No, no, it's fine!” You exclaimed as you continued searching through your pouch. A few seconds passed before you finally pulled out the object you desired. It was an iridescent pendant. It hung from a silver chain that seemed to have tarnished over time.
“I traveled to the most vicious depths of the sea for this.” You explained. “Come closer! Quickly!” You smiled with excitement.
Caspian leaned towards you. You wrapped the necklace around his neck and attached the clasp to the other end of the chain. When you were done, your hands didn’t move away from him, instead they rested on his shoulders.
“I appreciate the gift, but you are hurt. You mustn't put yourself in harm's way for me.”
“Caspian, I’m ok. I promise.” You placed a hand on his cheek, caressing his skin with your thumb. “Besides,” You started. “I wouldn’t dare depart from this life before we marry.” You smiled, chastly kissing his cheek. Caspians cheeks reddened and his heart raced at the thought of being wed to you. He hadn’t proposed to you, not yet. But tonight was the night.
Your hands lowered from his shoulders and grabbed his forearms.
“Now come, let me show you what this does.” You gestured to the pendant. You gently guided him toward the sea, until you were both submerged underwater. Caspian was not panicking, as he knew how to swim. But what did perplex him was the fact that he felt no need to hold his breath under the water, it almost felt natural to be there.
“It worked!” You exclaimed as you touched the gills that had formed on his neck. “Cas, try to talk.”
“Why?” His hand flew to his mouth as quickly as the words came out. “I- can talk. Underwater.”
“Yes!” You cheered, gently grabbing the sides of his face and placing a kiss on his lips. “And so much more! You can breathe down here now, that means you could come visit me more often!” You swam around him delighted at the fact that your love could now visit your home. “And not only that,” You dug into your pouch once more and pulled out a golden bracelet with a pendant similar to his. You wasted no time putting it on your own wrist. And when you did, your tale split in two and its color and texture changed to match your skin. You had legs.
Before you could celebrate you realized that you could no longer breathe nor talk. Caspian took notice of this as well and swiftly took you in his arms and swam to the surface. When your heads had come out of the water, you gasped for breath as you gripped Caspian tightly.
“As I was saying.” You grinned. “Not only can you visit me down under, I can visit you up above.” Your stare was trained on Caspian as you searched for any sign of happiness or excitement, but he seemed to be in deep thought. “Do you not like my gift?” You frowned.
Caspian’s gaze turned to you. “Of course I love it!” it was his turn to place a hand on your cheek. “I only wish I hadn't gotten something as dull as a rose to give to you.”
“You got me a rose?” You grinned. Caspian returned the gesture. Oh, how he loved your beautiful smile. After a few moments Caspian fell into deep thought once again. You waited, and he finally spoke.
“Will you marry me?”
