Happy Hades II!
Excited for the game to come out (hopefully) soon, + I saw a YouTube video of some of my fav artists making their own "Godsonas", so I thought I'd make my own lil deity :3
This is less of a sona than it is an OC, but either way here they are! I envision them as either a god of rot and decay, or blight and pestilence, undecided which. I think maybe they're a random encounter rather than an Olympian/boon? Like randomly in chambers (after you've taken so much damage maybe?) they'll appear. Beat them in a fight, like a miniboss, and they'll grant you a boon or some other reward. I think they'd have a debuff along the lines of "Caustic touch" or something that poisons the enemy and does small amounts of damage over a period of time, and/or slightly weakens them.
Personality-wise I think they're very odd and creepy, and are particularly obsessed with the health and wellbeing of mortals, especially their lack there of. I see them as very one track minded, always looking to spread their diseases as war and wide as possible. Interacting with/killing Zagreus (or Melinoe, if they were to appear in HII) would be fascinating for them, as no other god would be susceptible to mortal diseases.
If you survive the miniboss encounter I think their voice line would be something like "One of these days, I'll eat you alive, just...wait...." or "All good things must come to an end, one day or another. I'll be seeing you, godling...". Alternatively if you lose the voice line might be something like "Wither away, little godling! Not even you can escape my grasp..." or "You were made to rot, to waste away, it was only a matter of time..."

Fingers crossed hoping Circe will appear in Hades 2 too 🤞She would definitely fit the whole witchcraft/enchantress theme/vibe that the game has going for it so far (and has also turned people, specifically men, into animals, mostly pigs which Hecate and you can do) so i think Melinoe would prolly get off scotch free while unveiling info about her connection with Ody. BUT ALSO it would be really cool to have her as an opponent since she can conjure monsters or maybe even build up to a fight against Scylla since she was the cause of that.
just ughhh I'm so excited for this game and what they have in store
#hades 2#the cryptid talks#plus odysseus IS in the game so i wouldnt be surprised if they included someone from his history/had an encounter#and circe would definitely fit the bill#she would be like one of those characters you run into and gain a special item/gift along the way#like patroclus or eurydice#heres hopinggggg#plus i just really like the art style so i'll be happy with anything/anyone they add to the game :D#i just agdjnfbtufch a scylla fight would so so sick#myabe it'll play out like lernie's fight cause of the center head and the additional snake like head on the side#but i feel like they could put their own special twist on it

artemis is a lot more minimal tho compared to her hades 1 art :( im thinking its probably too early to nitpick that tho bc early access hasnt even started yet so im hoping they incorporate in the old style with her in the future. i do like the idea someone brought up that artemis is a lot more withdrawn to zag hence she has her guard up but shes known mel all her life and has a more casual stance and vibe going on in her pov
#el.doc#in terms of the art style like nemesis and hecate i think def have the sharp black shades and crisp lighting going on that was present in h#and they were also revealed first like a year ago#the gods have a different style going on with them but that could also jus bethat theyre more recent or still inthe process of being render#rendered out even more Hi ishould be eating breakfast and studying for my last final in an hour#so its probably not the new updated hades 2 style or smth its jis too early

Being the Son of Calliope, headcanons…
PJO x Male Reader (No romantic pairing)
Warnings: None…
Summary: You’re the son of the goddesss of epic poetry and eloquence and One of the Nine Muses…
(A/n: I know I was meant to work on other stuff but I got distracted.)
(Song is unrelated to the story but it felt Muses coded so…)
——
You were the only half-blood at camp related to one of the Muses, specifically Calliope, the Goddesss of Epic Poetry and Eloquence.
When you had gotten to camp you used to stay in Cabin 11, even though you’d been claimed, there was no cabin for you. So you ended up bunking with Travis Stoll.
But after the war with the titans and Percy’s demands to Zeus to the gods, a cabin dedicated to the Nine Muses had been built.
You being made the counsler… not that there were any other options…
The cabin was great tho, it was decorated with statues and carvings of the muses and their symbols. There were paintings hung of their famous demigods too such as Orpheus, Hyacinthus and Linus
The cabin had a big book case with novels, plays, comedies, tradgedies, poetry. A soundproof dance studio, a soundproof music room with a bunch of instruments, a sky window to study the stars.
Basically everything associated with the Muses.
——
If you had a nickel for everytime someone had tried to pick you by saying ”you were their muse” or that ”you had inspired” the poem, song or novel they wrote… you’d be richer than Hades.
You were particullarly popular amongst the Apollo cabin who seemed to think you were some kind of key to overcome creative blocks. Will Solace, their counselor, needed to keep them in check since they all seemed interested in you in one way or the other.
Athena’s and Hephaestus’s cabins were also drawn to you for your creativety.
——
You would however end up being paired with the Apollo cabin to lead the campfire sing-alongs, you usually end up with a solo song telling the dramatic story of some greek hero.
Imagine something like ”The Gosphel Truth” from ”Hercules”, with the Apollo cabin acting as you back up singers.
——
As for your powers, you were far from the strongest of demigods, but you were by no means weak.
You had a natrual talent for the arts, singing, dancing, poetry, instruments, etc…
As the son of the goddess of Eloquence you could cast minor short lasting curses on people that would effect their speaking, that could for example cause them to only speak in rhymes and limericks or make them unable to finish long sentences before drifting off.
Your swordfighting style would be noted by the other campers to be quite different, while they fought normally with their swords, Percy described your style more as a ”VERY deadly and sharp dance”.
Being related to the muses you also had an aura that could induce inspiration and creativity in someone (so maybe the Apollo cabin was on to something with their interest in you).
Though that power worked both ways as you could also curse someone with creative block.
——
Unlike most demigods, you’re mother showed up quite often to advice you whenever you had a problem… and she didn’t come alone.
Let’s say you’re in your cabin and you’re sad after having an argument with a friend.
Well… then all the 9 statues of the Muses in the cabin come to life and start singing a pop-soul number about why friendship is important and you should make up with your friend.
It’s was quite terrifying the first few times it happened but you get used to it after a while.
Being one of the Muse’s son is pretty much like being all of their son.
(A/n 2: Sorry, this is shorter than i usually write and is more so a collection of small headcanons for a Son of Calliope!Reader than a full on fic.)

In light of Hades 2 adding new designs and MORE Nyxblings, here's a little face study I did of Chaos, Nyx, and their family. Someone once mentioned that Nyx's children who's got features she doesn't have actually have Chaos' features instead, and I wanted to compare and see which child resembles who more.
Additionally, shoutout to @blood-starved-beast for their post about the age order of Nyx's children because it has helped immensely with the brainrot.
Detailed analysis under the cut.
Firstly, the parents:
For parent and daughter, Chaos and Nyx don't really look the same. However, the cheekbones and jawline that could cut glass is hereditary lol. I wonder if there are other children of Chaos who look more similar to them?
I also like how Chaos' Hades 2 appearance could be a nod to them reconnecting with Nyx and probably wanting to look more "normal" (or as normal as they could get) for the family reunions. The exact same makeup style is cute.
Next up, we have the older children (excluding the Fates, whom we haven't seen yet):
Charon is a tough nut to crack because his portrait is so heavily shadowed and he also wears a bigass hat, so I don't really know his facial structure, but from what I could see, it's more like Chaos'.
Moros' eye shape is weirdly different from the rest of the siblings, but they appear to be downturned and large, which is closer to Nyx's eye shape. While his facial structure is more like Chaos', his eyes in particular make him look softer.
Nemesis actually has a different face structure from Nyx. Her coloring is the exact same (sans skin tone), but not the face. However, her hairstyle is similar, including the updo.
Lastly, the younger children:
It's probably because Hypnos' expression was drawn more comically, but as soon as I take a good look at his new portrait it's made greatly apparent that he and Thanatos are actually identical in terms of facial features. What makes them appear even more different is the hairstyle; Than's go straight down, Hypnos' is fluffy and piled high on his head. They also have similar face shape as Nyx, but with a squarer jawline.
You'd think their hairstyles are radically different. However, this official art of long-haired Than shows that his hair curls at the ends. His hair is straight now, but I'd like to think he straightens it out, because otherwise it would look a bit wavy still.
As for Eris, people keep saying that Nem looks like Nyx the most, but Eris looks astonishingly similar to Nyx. Oh, the irony of looking like the parent you detest.
Summary (and some thoughts):
Face structure-wise, the older children look more like Chaos, while the younger children look more like Nyx.
Of all Nyxblings we've known, only Nemesis has black hair.
Except for Charon, the children's eye art style is reversed between Chaos' and Nyx's (the ones with purple eyes have visible pupils and highlights, while the gold-eyed ones have no visible pupil or highlight).
Where did the curly hair genes come from? The twins are explicitly stated to be fatherless, too. Maybe some other children of Chaos have curly hair? Maybe Gaia, as she was mentioned in Hades 2?
I have a theory that the older children look more eldritch (more similar to Chaos), and only started to look "normal" during Nyx's separation from Chaos, and the cutoff point is Moros, unless Momus is older than him. Would be cool if the Fates are an amalgam of three bodies, because they're triplets and older than Charon.
Thanatos cutting his hair was actually a smart decision because his new hairstyle flatters his face shape more. I'm sorry darling but you don't have game in styling long hair. Too bad he and Moros don't know each other, big brother could've given him tips.
The entire family is hot. Nuff said.
#ksadraws#ksatalks#i love the variety and slight differences between the nyxblings so much :))#hades 2#hades game#hades 2 fanart#hades fanart#chaos hades#nyx hades#charon hades#moros hades#nemesis hades#thanatos hades#hypnos hades#eris hades

oh, so the Weta Workshop figures got released and-
UM NAH IMA PASS ON THAT ONE LMAO I can't even justify buying FF XIV figures which come with in-game minions and mounts/prizes, I'm not spending $250+ on these pre-order figures especially after seeing how they look from the other side-
(Persephone has that Tim Burton face going on 💀 and Hades' blue bone fingers are giving me the eugh LOL)
And that's actually the GOOD one, like I would give it maybe a 7/10, but there are also two more figures that are apparently still "prototypes" and uh yeah "subject to change" is right because these. these do not look good-
And per tradition of the comic's art, both of them look like they're covered in a layer of grease and they look nothing like how they look in the kiss statue FJDKALSFJDSALK
I'm not trying to dunk on Weta Workshop here, they offer some really great figures from the looks of their shop, it's more so just 1.) LO itself doesn't lend well to other mediums like figurines and 2.) nothing's ever going to make me like LO's art style ever again, I'm too far gone LMAO
I could justify doing all the investigating and spending I had to do to get my hands on Rachel's original design of Persephone in Ladies of Literature Volume 2 which I can guarantee with 99.99998% certainty no other superfan of LO has-
youtube
-buuut I don't think I can justify this, so it's gonna be a no from me on this one LOL This is meant for the good faith fans who would gladly live in Rachel's pockets if they could 😆

it’s absolutely insane to me how much attention hades 2 is getting from the anti-woke crowd. like, this game’s art style and character designs do not look that much different from the first game’s, which were pretty much universally praised. have the times really changed that much since 2020?? have people become so insane over “wokeness” in just four years?? were people being this weird about the first game and i just missed it?? i just don’t understand
#hades game#hades 2#anyway i’ve watched some gameplay and i don’t think im gonna play it#i played the first game quite a bit but after a certain point i just lost interest#and this sequel doesn’t seem to meaningfully change things enough to really interest me#but some of these motherfuckers are like i’m not buying this game because hephaestus is in a wheelchair#We Are Not The Same

Hades 2 design changes
I really don't like the new designs in Hades 2. Considering that a massive part of the appeal for Hades 1 was the designs themselves, it's not great.
This second image is Zeus in Hades 1. It's a much more complete and detailed image with much more character flowing through. The lightning bolt, the cumulonimbus beard, the yellow and green everything.
Did they change artists or was the above image a super rough draft?
I also noticed similar issues with Poseidon.
This image of Poseidon is oozing with overconfidence and personality, he has the little bubbles in his hair. It's flowing in multiple directions, like he's floating downards. The posture of every character was different. They always looked away from the camera, somewhat ambivalently.
Poseidon in Hades 2 again looks like a less detailed image than Hades 1, there are no dark shadows. He's staring at the camera like Zeus. Unfortunately his posture is very generic in this one. He kinda looks like he's standing in a line with Zeus, facing the same way.
I'm not sure if they swapped artists. I miss the thick dark lines of the original, it was so key to the art style.

Hi! I kept searching for an older ask where you talked about how your style is informed by American comics, can you talk a lil' bit more about that, if it's okay? :>
oh it's ok to me! when i were in high school and still trying to find my own style, i were (am?) a fan of both DC and Marvel comics. i read a lot. and im talking thousands worth of issues from a varying cast of characters.
the shadow block that you can see still a big part of my style? many ppl think it's from Hades game art style, but it's not. it's from me studying from superheroes comic artists like Jorge Jimenez, Mark Buckingham, etc... and i adore the shape language and symbolism seen in Bill Sienkiewicz & Dave McKean work.
but at the same time... im really into manga and anime too and my style had already been that way for quite a while now. everything i learn from the American comics i read, i implement it into my work but still keep close to my original style direction (? god does that even make sense).
that's why my art is in a really weird limbo between Eastern and Western stylization haha. and why i consider American comics a big part of my art journey.
actually during my time drawing for spiderverse fandom, i follow all the concept artists working for the movie and learn a lot from them as well (i also speedrun through the entirety of Marvel's Miles Morales catalogue. literally read every single title and crossover events with Miles in it in 2 months. good to know my hyperfixation to comic is just as strong even now)
#and why fromsoft is like a perfect fandom for me to draw fanart for cuz i think their style is a mix like that too#my boss all the time: your style is not too Japanese anime but it's not complete Korean webtoon it's not US comic either#but somehow it's all of those at once. so weird. me:.... thanks?? 😭#ask#reply
