THANKSGIVING RENDEZVOUS Season 8

"Think they noticed?"

Kate grunts and opens one eye, pulling herself back from the edge of sleep to give her husband a half-hearted glare. "Huh?"

Rick shifts to his side, facing her, and trails his finger down her bare back. "Our families. What'd you tell your dad?"

"Needed more whipped cream." She smirks and shuts her eyes. "And that the first two stores I went to were out."

He chuckles. "Funny, I said the same thing." He leans over and presses his lips to her shoulder. "Hopefully our parents won't compare notes."

She groans and buries her face in her pillow. "God, we're so obvious, aren't we?" She feels Rick shift again, and her breath gets caught in her throat when his mouth starts a slow path down her spine.

Her hips lift on their own accord, pushing back into him when he raises up behind her, palming her waist, circling his thumbs around the small of her back.

"Speak for yourself," he husks, dusting his lips across her back. "I'm a good liar."

She scoffs. She expects resistance when she turns over, but he simply slides his hands down her legs when she wraps them around his waist and pulls him close. "Oh please."

"I think-" He grunts when she digs his fingers into his waist. "Shit. I think we're still having trouble finding the whipped cream," he jokes, his voice strained.

She arches her back, his name falling from her lips with a gasp when he pushes into her. "Might need to check a few more stores," she manages. "Maybe the whole island."

By the time they eventually make their way to their respective Thanksgiving dinners, they may as well have searched all five boroughs. And if their respective family members suspect anything, they don't say a word.

“I guess I just don’t know what to say. ‘Sorry for killing your tribute’ doesn’t really seem to cover it.”

Haymitch shrugged. “Never had a winner before, not going to get one now. No need to apologize for that.”

Emerald didn’t feel any better.

“I’m sure you’re sick of hearing it,” he went on, “but you do look so much like her. At least, back when she was that age.”

“You must have known her,” Emerald offered, slowly finding her voice again. “You won your Games back-to-back.”

“Sure did. Couple of us were pretty close back then. Amethyst was a good one. Wish she could have stuck around a little longer.”

The look in Haymitch’s eyes told Emerald that he knew her death wasn’t an accident.

“She was certainly popular.” Emerald scoffed. “It seems all anyone wants to do is compare me to her, though. Can’t say it’s the most flattering comparison.”

“Nah,” Haymitch said, rolling his eyes. “It is. Everyone liked Amethyst.” He gave her an appraising look. “You might just be able to live up to it.”

i know it's late but it's a great victory for me since i had many complications with work, and couldn't manage to find time to play it... 😭

People against piracy fail to realize that no, I can’t just ‘buy it.’ They stopped making DVDs and Blu-Rays. They’re barely offering digital copies for download. I am not spending money I could use for food or bills to pay for a subscription service just so I can always have access to a beloved piece of media. Especially not when the service will remove media on a whim without concern for how the loss of access to that piece will make its artistic conservation nigh impossible.

For example, I recently learned that Disney+ had an original film called Crater. It’s scifi, family friendly, and seems cool - I would love to buy it as a holiday gift for my little brother! But: it’s exclusive to D+ and THEY REMOVED IT LITERALLY MONTHS AFTER ITS RELEASE.

The ONLY way I can directly access this film is through piracy. The ONLY available ‘copies’ of this film are hosted on piracy websites. Disney will NEVER release it in theaters, or as something to buy, and it may NEVER return to the streaming service. It will be LOST because we aren’t allowed to purchase it for personal viewing. If I can’t pay to own it, I won’t pay for the privilege of losing it when corporate decides to put it in a vault.

So yes, I’m going to pirate and support piracy.
