i think it’s so funny how suguru gets injured on a mission and then brushes off every attempt you make to care for him. he could quite literally be bleeding out in front of you but still he’s got that stupidly indulgent smile on his face as he tucks your hair behind your ear to see your furrowed brows clearly.

“it’s not a big deal. i promise,” he’ll sigh every time, and you’ll always huff in response.

(because he’s so ridiculous? almost dying and telling you that it’s not that bad.)

“yes it is!” you groan and then you’re fussing over his injuries—and all he can do is show you that same silly helpless smile.

he’s always telling you that it’s not serious—that injuries are nothing to worry about.

but then you get injured on a mission and it completely flips. suguru is all over you, worry so palpable as he takes your face in his palms and lets his eyes rove over your features.

you do the same thing he does—tell him it’s nothing too crazy and that you’re fine and it isn’t something to be so worried about.

(it really isn’t.)

but he never listens, never cares. one little scrape and he’s panicked. he physically will not let you out of his sight.

and when you call him out for it, cheekily grinning as you chuckle, he just sighs and shakes his head because he knows you’re right. he has no intention of stopping though.

we know EA interfered a lot with veilguard, i definitely do attribute the "sanitization" of the setting directly to EA's meddling, i even think to some extent taash's quest and the corporate representation feel of it all was influenced heavily by EA and not just weekes. and i think a lot of the companions being so shallow and their quests feeling half-baked is also mostly due to time constraints and rewrites/cut content-- the writers genuinely did do the best they could with what they had, and i feel for them and their frustrations. but. there are also just a lot of really bad decisions made elsewhere, too. like i said the racism has always been present in these games and it's always been a problem, it's literally baked into the worldbuilding, though i can definitely agree that some of it was potentially made worse specifically in veilguard due to constant rewrites and the loss of context and cohesion, but like... it was always there to begin with... and it's not "unfair" for players to point this out.

both things can be true-- EA absolutely fucked these people over, and we shouldn't be speculating conspiracy theory-type shit about the writers hating fans or whatever when we know. we know EA interfered, we know there were creative differences, we know they ruthlessly laid off a lot of the people that poured their blood, sweat, and tears into this game! EA is both stupid and actively malicious, they get no sympathy from me. veilguard absolutely is a casualty of the current state of the gaming industry. and i also think there were a lot of poor writing decisions made independently of that as well, that are fair to criticize and question. a lot of these problems are the same problems we've seen in every single DA game, and this consistency makes it clear this is not just an issue with corporate overreach.

but i really feel for everyone involved with making this game, this shit was clearly a very long and tiring fight, i can't even imagine the kind of constant corporate shitstorm they had to deal with for ten fucking years, and personally there is no NDA in the world that would keep me from talking shit. so these guys are stronger than me lol

kaveh initially circles the killer's name out of habit of annotating, but does so in permanent ink, not beating the urchin of kshahrewar allegations, creating a spoiler for the next reader

but without a second circle to create a red herring, courtesy of alhaitham, the conspiracy wouldn't have been started, but,,, alhaitham only draw the circle in the first place because he looked at a book that kaveh was interested in... this sounds.... familiar....

I can't imagine being anywhere near as insane as Trump supporters because my dad told me that he, earlier, drove past a guy putting a "Harris Walz 2024" sign outside his house and decided to yell out at him "TRUMP 2024 YOU COCKSUCKER" and flip him off. And he laughed when he told me because he thinks that yelling at a man (emphasized man because he thinks men should be "better" than women, and "better" would be voting for Trump in this case) who is voting for a "whore who slept her way to the top" (his exact words) is funny. And expected me to laugh with him. And got angry when I didn't and just stared at him in disbelief. Even though he already knows that I don't like Donald Trump. These people fully expect others to find their weird ass derogatory words and behavior FUNNY. Donald Trump is leading a cult of old people who he brainwashed into being delusional with him.

Gong Xi Fa Cai! I know the start of Lunar New Year is still about a month away, but I wanted to make sure I got this done early. ^^; I was inspired by @shikariiin's Dragon!Edward that she drew for New Year's. And as a fellow Year of the Dragon, I knew I had to do something too!

Originally I was thinking about drawing Thomas (as a reference to "Thomas, Percy, and The Dragon"), but in the end I decided to draw James because:

Favoritism RULES ("Somebody has to be the favorite... 🎶")

Red is a lucky color in Chinese culture (and I think in other Asian cultures as well, but Chinese is what I'm most familiar with)

So here's James all decked out in red (symbolic of good luck) and gold (symbolic of wealth). The leaf and branch pattern on his cheongsam is meant to be a subtle reference to "All in Vain", while the clouds on the lining pattern are meant to reference steam (cause he's a train lol). Also the character on his chest is his engine number 5. Numbers are among the only things I remember how to write in Mandarin. ^^;
