Looking at all the articles circa-2022 where Tumblr planned to implement #ActivityPub for #Mastodon/#Fediverse interoperability... Think of the missed opportunities for all the gay/open source crossover episodes!

I don't know what the costs and benefits are for Tumblr to implement this. Brainstorming:

Pros: network effects (wider content network and wider reach of Tumblr posts), brownie points with people wary of social media walled-gardens (which would play into the notion that Tumblr's a destination for Reddit and Twitter refugees)

Cons: harder to monetize if I can view Tumblr content really easily through a 3rd party application, doing something popular with users[?]
