wonwoo: he’s all smiles for you hehe. clings onto your arm whenever you’re near him. he wouldn't be too loud or anything, but i think he'd shyly whisper compliments to you now and then about how you look nice or how much he loves you. i think he’d be one of the more chill people, he just feels happier than usual bc of the alcohol hehehhe. usually, wonu is pretty good at keeping himself composed when you show him affection. but when he’s drunk, i think he’d react a little more…he strikes me as someone who’s more verbally/physically affectionate when it’s just you two, but around friends/family he tones it down. but when he’s drunk i think he would be comfortable having you sit on his lap or having an arm around you <3

jihoon: i am convinced lee jihoon is a different man when he’s drunk!!!!!!!!!  i have a hot-ish take when it comes to drunk uji…omg woozi would SOOOO open up physically and emotionally to you..and he’d be the type to always, Always have an arm around your waist and constantly hold your hand, looking at you with a smile that leads all the way up to his eyes. he’s someone who has dealt with a lot in his life, but in this moment, he’s so grateful to be here with his friends, and someone he loves that also loves him for who he is. the reason i think he’d be like this is juts because like. he doesn’t drink much, but when he does, feelings he’s been keeping to himself finally come up to the surface. also his face, neck and ears are constantly bright red because of the alcohol LOL. but ALSO they'd be red the next day when he realizes how he behaved in front of you hehe…. don't tease him too much about it or he'll die of embarrassment!

Cameo by what_alchemy 8k | Rated M | For Archive Users Only Summary: Holmes and Watson become embroiled in a case Scotland Yard refuses to acknowledge. A soulmate AU. Notes: i honestly skipped over this fic for a while, since i'm not the biggest fan of soulmate aus. do not make the same mistake i did, because this shit HITS. this fic has hit after hit: soulmate-mark based case for our main duo, angst, hiatus feels, MORE ANGST, and ofc a happy ending. ugh. read this fic if you enjoy being happy.

Notes: do NOT read this if you don't like angst... ok now i'm sensing a pattern. anyways this is the first hurt/no comfort fic i read for this tag and i literally have cried more than enough tears over it. poor, poor watson :( iconic author though, read everything they write!

The Adventure of the Glad Outlaw by radondoran 7k | Rated T Summary: While Sherlock Holmes solves the mystery of a student's disappearance, Dr. Watson is more puzzled by the changing dynamic between his flatmate and himself. Notes: cute pastiche! a nice little mystery and a nice little get-together. ahhhhhh.... this fic is like cotton candy to me, so sweet and fluffy. defo recommend

Hands by MinorObsessions (draculard) 1.4k | Rated T Summary: Naturally, there are some things Watson thinks about Holmes that don't make it into the books. Notes: i'm also in the star trek fandom, so if you know anything about that then you know that hands are kind of A Thing in both circles and ergo i now Have A Thing about hands. so this is a nice little ode to holmes' hands, featuring some doctoring by watson AND a nice reverse appraisal at the end. it's so sweet :)

Conductor of Light by ColebaltBlue  1.4k | Rated T Summary: A Victorian stiff upper lip won't prevent you from falling in love, but it might prevent you from realizing it. Notes: they finally get their shit together! honestly i would recommend this fic to anyone just starting out with h/w fics in any medium. the characterization and dialogue is A1, and their argument is really realistic to me, idk. also features the iconic HOUN quote for its title so props to that!

A (Mis)fortunate Man by sans_patronymic 1.5k | Rated T Summary: December, 1880. Watson writes a note which may be his last. December, 1899. Watson writes back. Notes: READ THE TAGS BEFORE READING. this was a gut-wrenching read but god i cried at the end for watson. don't worry, this one has a happy ending. ugh now i wish there was a second chapter where watson lets holmes read the letters. to sum up: oof, my heart

The Second Smartest Man in London by FairSinner 73k | Rated E Summary: Dr John Watson returns from Afghanistan to Victorian London, wounded, traumatised and alone. When he meets Sherlock Holmes, his life begins to seem worth living again. But Holmes is a man who despises sentiment and Watson cannot seem to expunge it from his heart. Notes: congrats, you've made it to the end!! so now i must confess that it's been a loooong time since i've read this fic, but the private note i left on my bookmark was just "holy shit", so i'm sure it's a banger. i'm also sure it has angst because i love angst and i love bookmarking angst so i can read it again and again and suffer infinitely. enjoy :)

Hihi!! No, thank you so much for reading it! I'm glad you enjoyed it! I thought about waiting to start this till the big 'betrayal' of the Deviculum arc was revealed, but it'll be a two-week hiatus till the new crowns are revealed, much less that big boy of a thing. So here it is anyway!

This was written from the POV of an Iruma's parent reader, but if anyone also wants one of a non-Iruma associated reader, just let me know!

Narnia Courting a human!reader (spoilers for up to chapter 197 ahead!)

First, knowing what we know now about his feelings for humans, I honestly don't think he would have considered it in the beginning. This old dog would probably fight tooth and nail at first to deny it.

But once he admits to himself he likes you? You're in for a ride.

I'm thinking you first met at the Deviculum, having been invited as the daughter of Sullivan and as another 'guard' for Amaryllis, and he was disguised as Fenrir 'Fen-chan'.

At first, while he had set you on edge, you had simply thought him a funny little dude who had a thing for dog shaped hand gestures. And with a name like Fenrir it had been easy to write off the dog like qualities as wolf ones, probably descended and named after the Norse mythology wolf.

And so, despite your feeling, you had laughed at his jokes and little quips and thrown some back easily.

Until he scared your son.

Then all bets had been off.

You were no 13 crown head of lust, but you were a parent too. A parent who also had fangs and nails, as blunt as they may be in comparison, and was more than willing to throw down with a border patrol demon for your child.

Narnia hadn't been impressed with Iruma's quick submission, simply affirming what he thought of humans being too weak to be allowed in the Netherworld at all, much less in positions of power, but you?

You had done a complete 180 from how you acted before. The second he had leaned in to get closer to Iruma, you were suddenly there with all the rage and fire of any demon parent he had ever seen before.

Eyes that had been shinning prettily in awe of the ball were now narrowed in on him, lips pulled back in a snarl and tiny canines bared at him. Threats fired off without a second thought.

(His personal favourite was when you threatened to rip his tail off and shove it down his throat)

If he hadn't known better, he would have thought he was looking at a demon returned to origins with the feral look in your eyes.

And he was absolutely certain, that if Amaryllis hadn't stepped in and slapped him, shocking you out of that state of mind, you might actually have tried to lunge at him.

He fell in love at that moment.

Though he wouldn't realize it till later. Still reeling that a human had acted so much like a demon.

So he starts looking into you more carefully once the whole Deviculum thing is over.

Approaches you as Narnia, rather than Fenrir, so that he can get the full picture of who you are, without the negative feelings of the Deviculum in the way.

You had known it was the same person anyway from his mannerisms, the dog hand symbol he occasionally made, even in Narnia mode, was hard to forget.

The more he got to know you, though, the more he was he fell and eventually conceded that yes, humans weren't so weak, and also yes he wanted this particular human.

And once he did, he would waste no time trying to initiate a courtship.

I fully believe that demons follow courtship rituals that start with offerings.

Something meant to entice and say 'hey I'm an option, look at me' and if accepted, delve into gifts on why they would be such a good choice and spend time together.

In ancient times, this was usually a kill of some sort to prove they can provide. Nowadays, in modern times, that was far less likely and was generally more tailored to the couple in particular.

His first gift is actually an apology for the way he acted and a promise to protect both you and Iruma from any future harm.

His second gift, given right after you accepted his apology, was a circular hair brooch with two sticks chained to it, made from a material that looked most closely to rainbow obsidian.

The brooch part had an intricate design that looked quite close to Kalego's seal only with different characters, that likely spelled Narnia's name instead.

The two hair sticks had wolf heads attached where the chains met the stick. All in all it was a gift to say that you were claimed by him and therefore an attack on you was an attack on him. A rather forward gift, usually given later on in courtships, but that he felt was right. (And since you’re human, you can use it to call him when needed)

He gives plenty of other gifts too over the courtship period, from other pieces of jewellery (he custom ordered earpieces that covered the roundness of yours to give the illusion of pointed ones), to clothes in both Naberius and your favourite colours, to treats, to books, and your plenty of items to do with your favourite hobbies.

It’s canon that he has an exceptionally good nose, even among demons, and being a dog demon I firmly believe he absolutely loves and adores your scent.

So don't expect any perfumes or cologne from him.

Unless it's made from his scent, like Sullivan's pheromone perfume, so that he can indulge in inhaling the beautiful mixture your two scents combined would make.

(I personally think he smells something along the lines of a rose but darker and more dangerous, if that makes sense, and also smelling of sandalwood, parchment, and ink. Take that as you will.)

He's big on scenting you the natural way, too. Nuzzles and cuddles galore, especially when he's been away for a while.

Running his nose, and rubbing his face into your neck, was a common occurrence once you had given the go ahead.

Being in the Border Patrol and as a 13 Crown, he doesn't have a lot of spare time, so texts or letters are probably a common thing as well. Especially when he's been sent on a spy job.

While Kalego is the silent acts of service, gift giving and quiet quality time type, Narnia is much more into physical touches, quality time and words of affirmation type.

In other words, he will always be touching you and wanting praises. I wasn’t kidding about the nuzzles and cuddles galore.

With how strict the Naberius household is, I don’t think they’d be too big on touching, and doing well isn’t praiseworthy but expected. Not exactly the healthiest of households to grow up in,

Plus, I'm betting that he had to raise Kalego while also doing his schooling and training, since it doesn't look like there was a mom in the picture, their uncle is canonically lazy, and their dad was probably working like 24/7, and when he wasn't, he was training them. Bloody hell no wonder he snapped

So he craves the touch of another a lot, much like Shichirou.

I genuinely think that if the Naberius house had given them even a bit more freedom, he'd probably be somewhere in between how Clara and Shichirou acts. Not quite as in your face as Clara is, but a little more energy than Shichirou has.

But because he is trained so well in the Naberius way, he probably won't do much more than hand holding or hand on your back for PDA.

Alone, however, he's all over you. Using you as a headrest when you're cooking, head in your lap while you read, wrapped around you while you sleep, playing with your hair, letting you play with his hair

By the gods, his hair

His hair is the epitome of silkiness (minus the horn-like cow-licks, which are surprising hard yet still feel like hair. Just like over gelled hair feels, probably)

While you're courting, he will let you do whatever you want with it because he loves the feeling of your fingers carving paths through the strands, nails scratching his scalp pleasingly. It's one of his favourite things to just sit between your legs, while looking over case files, or reading, or even just laying there and just let you do your thing, whether it's a simple braid or an elaborate design.

He usually falls asleep to this, by the way.

Speaking of case files, he'll occasionally ask you for your thoughts on them.

This got so long, I had to create a new text box, oh gods. Did you know there's a 4096-character limit per text box? Because I just learned that, and now you did too!

Having your literal out of this world thinking has solved far more things than he would like to admit, but he's also so damn proud? Because yes, that's his partner solving these cases that no one else had been able too. (He constantly gets in trouble with Henry for sharing confidential info. He does not care and continues to do it.)

I also headcannon that Narnia can sing and dance will often do so for you.

Can hold long notes like a wolf howls, so very long.

Will just randomly pull you into his arms, humming a tune, and dance with you.

Also, while you're courting, he will be both surprisingly helpful and absolutely useless with Iruma. He's already raised Kalego, so he thinks he can raise a human teen too.

He's dead wrong.

So, so wrong.

But he tries, and it leads to a lot of funny moments.

(Kalego is horrified that his most troublesome student and co-worker has a very real potential of being a part of his family, but also secretly pleased)

Listen, Narnia's also pretty much confirmed as returned to origins, or at least heavily implied. The only reason he is drifting back to your side is because Baal's group would 100% hunt you for sport, along with other things.

Obviously, he can not have this. So Baal's group has to go. However, that means that all those instincts he's been letting lose? They have to be channelled somewhere, and they are. On you.

He will definitely have some yandere tendencies, is what I'm saying.

Gotta know where you are and who you're with. Needs to know your schedule by heart, and any deviancies will give him a heart attack.

Literally hates the fact that you're always surrounded by others, and he almost never gets alone time. But is also happy and proud that you're so needed and an integral part of so many demon's lives.

Tries to get you on your own so much, but you literally have the entire staff of Babyls, the misfit class, several crowns, and the three greats wanting your attention. Oh, and one deity because of course Toto wants to know all the stories and knowledge you have from the human world too, not just Iruma's.

Has thought about just straight kidnapping you and Iruma (because you wouldn't be happy without him, and he may or may not have grown attached to the little blue bean) on several occasions, but almost every single one of these beings is high ranked and 100% would hunt him down for you because of course they are.

To Bang Chan: Social Path M/V Breakdown

Ok, so I wasn't doing this in an effort to write a 3 page essay about the MV for Social Path as Bang Chan instructed, I was just genuinely engrossed with the messaging and visuals that I wanted to talk about it, & then we ended up here.

Alright, so this is going to be me talking through what I was feeling/gleaning from both the lyrics and the visuals for Social Path…

TW: Self Harm and/or suicide (spoken about very delicately, but it's there), anxiety, depression.

First for context: PBP mean Paper Bag Posse and refers to the people with paper bags on their heads throughout the video.

I am using Sweater -- , Post Apocalyptic --, and Red -- to refer to the different wardrobes worn by the Kids throughout the video.

Sweater Kids

Red Kids (Yes, I know not ALL of them are in red, but it’s most and it’s fine.

Post Apocalyptic Kids (abbreviated on PA Kids)

If we are going to create an overarching story…here’s what I see. Sweater Kids are trapped somewhere with the nameless/faceless PBP. The Red Kids come for them, and as the PA Kids they find LiSA and stand together at the end.

As far as the symbolism of the PBP, I think their faceless-ness is entirely intentional, they can be anything and anyone.

Watching Sweater Hyunjin’s story specifically through the video, it made me think of faceless accounts online, antis leaving hateful and hurtful messages, and we start with Sweater Hyunjin just sitting on the bed, the PBP is there, they’re watching him. Then when we return, they’ve come in closer, fully invading his space, even putting hands on him, and he’s afraid, he makes himself small in the face of all of these figures.

Later, when he’s pushing through them, he’s not afraid anymore, if anything I’d say he’s angry. It very much reminded me of the feeling I had when we got the choreo video for Play with Fire. How that was one of the first things we saw after his hiatus. And that performance to me has such a feeling of anger but also defiance and determination, and that’s the same emotion I’m seeing in the final scene for Sweater Hyunjin.

Sweater Changbin, it’s really interesting, because he only appears in the sweater for one scene, almost completely un-cut. He’s tossing and turning from a nightmare, is shocked awake by either the nightmare or the storm outside, it’s ambiguous, but the small flash of nightmare we see is these grabbing hands. He moves from the bed to the window, watching the storm, which combined with the lyrics of the sun rising tomorrow, kind of gives the feeling of him saying I can weather this storm.

Sweater Han also only appears in one portion of the video, during which he is in the mirrored room. He’s also chained, unlike IN who is the only other KID to appear in the mirrored room. We’ve seen the sort of glass case before, in Lonely Street, when Hyunjin is actually inside of it, and Felix outside. In that video it’s an image that gives this heartbreaking sense of isolation and being lost (astray), which is then multiplied when you realize Felix is actively seeking Hyunjin, but unable to find him. This idea of being so close yet so far.

But it’s different here with Han. His emotions here, there’s fear, there’s confusion, even sadness.

I do think it’s particularly interesting that Changbin and Han are the only ones we don’t see with the PBP, which I think is interesting. It almost to me indicates that their ‘enemy’ isn’t other people. For Changbin, this idea combined with interviews and things in the past, makes me think of how he’s talked about how he can get stuck in the dark thoughts of his own mind.  That while he tends to be quite silly sometimes, his solitary thoughts do tend towards darkness, and that’s part of why he often finds himself with the other Kids, because that helps to pull his mind away from those things. With Han, it’s a similar vibe, less that his mind is a place of temporary fear (like Changbin’s nightmare) but more that it can be a prison.

One that keeps him stuck in multiple ways even, both being inside the mirrored space itself, and also being chained.  In terms of him being in the mirrored room, a space where he sees himself no matter where he looks, it feels like being forced to perceive your true self, and it’s a contrast to IN inside the mirrored room, which we’ll circle back to.

Next, I’m going to talk a bit about Sweater Lee Know. We find him, again surrounded by the PBP, on the bed, and they’re all sort of holding him aloft. And as we watch we see them reaching their hands over the edges of the bed, reaching for him.  It comes to a point where the last shot we see of Sweater Leeknow, he has made himself small as well, wrapping his arms around he’s knees, and sort of pulling away from all the edges of the bed.

Now since his scenes are intercut with Hyunjin’s and even Seungmin’s I get the vibe that the PBP here could be faceless internet people, but the holding him aloft thing….that makes me think of holding him on a pedestal, like putting him out of reach in a way. It’s sort of a new layer of isolation. But the other thought I had, especially with the context that much of the lyrics were reflections on their trainee days, was that what if these were trainees as well, not the other Kids, but just other trainees at JYPE. I’ve talked some before about how I think Lee Know’s age combined with his previous experience as a professional dancer set him apart as a trainee. Now this sounds positive, and is in many ways, but being set apart because of your talent or skill level is also quite isolating. I’ve also talked about how I think his skill and experience as a dancer also led to higher expectations in other areas (vocals/rap), leading to greater stress when those things didn’t come as easily as dance. I also don’t think those expectations were all external, I think Lee Know himself was often holding himself to a standard far higher than was reasonable based on the time he was given to learn these new aspects of being an idol. While I maintain that his elimination was essentially done for views, that doesn’t stand in opposition to the understanding that he had nowhere near the amount of practice time or past experience of the others in terms of his vocals/rap, but where he needed to be given grace, instead he was eliminated.

Next is Sweater Seungmin. Like Hyunjin I think he has one of the bigger arcs we see in the story of the MV. When we first see him he’s fleeing the PBP, it’s very frantic, they’re in a small hallway that feels almost claustrophobic.

When we come back to Seungmin, he’s calm. The PBP have caught up with him and surrounded him, but he’s not making attempts to break out, he’s simply standing. They’re also not reaching for him anymore, seemingly satisfied that he’s been ‘caught.’ Now I would almost think something along the lines of ‘music soothes the savage beast’ and Seungmin’s angelic voice is enough to stop the PBP in their tracks, but what I really kind of feel in the moment is more akin to him no longer caring. His casual stance, the hands in the pockets, it’s not just “I’m no longer afraid” it’s “You have no power here”.

It’s a similar idea to what we see with Hyunjin, but where Hyunjin fights back with this sort of passionate fire, Seungmin has instead employed this cold disinterest. In terms of how this relates to Seungmin’s own journey as a Stray Kid, one of the observations I’ve made and seen over the past year or so is Seungmin’s increased confidence. I think he’s always had a level of confidence in his singing abilities, though even in the SS we saw him actively working to improve the way he brought emotion into the lyrics of their songs, making his performance not just technically perfect, but also emotionally touching. This is a skill he’s been complimented on by many, including very notably Changbin. But his own, sort of individualized confidence as Seungmin the person, I think has been building over the last 5 years as he’s matured and he’s very much come to stand as his own man in the last year or so.

IN…Oh, IN is so fascinating in this MV. He’s always slightly different from the other Kids. Firstly, while everyone else shows this fear of the PBP, Sweater IN never does. When we first see him, they're in the corridor again, but IN is completely still. The PBP walk around him, practically not noticing him at all.

When we see him again, he’s crouched, then begins to stand, reaching up to a light. Around him are more PBP, sort of moving closer to him, but still there’s no fear, his movements are calm, fluid.

Where we've see Han in the mirrored space, IN is there as well, but it’s not Sweater IN, it’s PA IN. And again there’s no expressions of fear, and what makes this interesting, is that if the mirrored space is meant to sort of convey this idea of being stuck in your own mind, of having to truly perceive yourself, IN is able to do that without distress.

When you take his actions that are a direct opposite to every other Kid in the MV and combine it with the lyrics he repeats…it tells an interesting story. “They’re making me laugh, it’s so loud. Waking the demon that’s hiding inside.” Now in SKZ lore there’s always been some interesting things going on with IN, whether he’s a villain, or has ulterior motives of some sort. And even outside of the LORE, he’s frequently used as this unassuming but dangerous thing. The most direct example of this being the Freeze MV story, where we find out that IN is in fact the sort of villainous mob boss that they were tracking, and he had infiltrated them. But what makes me pause, especially with the lyrics, especially with IN’s behavior in the MV, is the sort of context we often hear the word demon in in regard to Stray Kids. So, my immediate thought was a clip from Chan’s room, where he says “be proud of that little demon inside you” but it also brings to mind the concepts for maniac about how we often keep our true selves hidden for fear of reprisal. So with IN, I feel like we’re almost meant to feel like he’s become one with himself, he’s sort of reached this level of self-actualization, he’s not afraid to be his true self, so why should he fear these faceless crowds, or looking himself in the mirror?

Channie, oh Channie, this one…it’s affecting, I’ll give you that. So, Sweater Chan’s story seems the most confusing to me. The first clips are of Chan floating in just this dark void, then we find him running from the PBP, who catch up to him eventually, pushing him against a wall and many of their hands coming to his throat. When we find him again, he’s in the red-shaded room, surrounded by the PBP and he’s like starting to float up.

So, the question is: him floating above the PBP, does it circle back to him floating in the black void, or are they separate things? I lean towards separate, since we also get a small glimpse of Chan sort of jerking awake form a nightmare. It sort of feels to me like these are almost a series of nightmare situations. We have total isolation, Chan alone in darkness. We also have Chan sort of floating up and away, and if we stick with his theory of the PBP can be anyone, I almost sort of feel like in that moment they’re trainees again, and this is debuting. But where it should be joyous, it’s reminiscent of death scenes in film, where a soul ascends to a new life, perhaps the death of youth as one moves towards the future? Moving back to the Chan that’s being chased, I’m certain there’s significance to the idea and the visual of all of these hands coming up to his neck, and we have a couple potential options.

In this moment, I almost feel like we’re back to the faceless strangers with the PBP, and that this is perhaps suffocation, but something that kept niggling at my brain was the lyrics “еverуоne keeps turnіng mе down.” It’s incredibly common for all of 3racha to create lyrics that can be perceived in a myriad of ways, and while interpreting this phrase through a lense of social interaction, you think ‘turning down’ as in not wanting to date, be friends, hang out, etc. Turning down the opportunity of your company.  But looking at it from the perspective of a musician, it makes me think of turning down the volume, essentially silencing them. And that’s kind of the visual I get here as well, Chan being silenced, or feeling unable to speak, in the ‘face’ of the PBP.

Finally, we have Sweater Felix. We start off with Felix in the bed, just sitting in the center, and while he does, the PBP is surrounding him, but they’re not still, not like they were with Hyunjin.

Here we see something like a timelapse, and Felix is still, but the PBP has people moving in and out of frame around him, which I actually didn’t really notice my first several watches, it wasn’t until I started editing the video to sort of make individual stories that I saw it. And what it brings to my mind is the zoo, like Felix is an exhibit, sitting perfectly while people come and observe and leave. It gives the feeling again of that isolation, but also captivity. When it cuts back to Felix, he’s now standing on the bed (literally taking a stand) and, we hear the lyrics “Them voices in my heаd again, I gоtta shakе ’em off now”. What I particularly find concerning is that when we return to Felix the third time, he now has the angel wings, and the lyrics now are “No way back to the past”.

Now we know that none of 3racha, or really any of the Kids shy away from talking about deep topics, they work hard to put them into their mainstream songs, but even beyond that they tackle very complex and potentially dark topics in things like the SKZ-Records where they have a lot more creative freedom. So, I don’t find it outside of the realm of possibility that the Sweater Felix scenes could refer to instances of people going to extremes to escape negative voices, and it’s not the first instance we see of Felix being representative of such ideas, there’s a similar visual metaphor in Lonely Street, of Felix holding a finger gun to his head before turning it on his shadow.

And the reference to voices could mean negative voices like depression, when we say the PBP can be anyone/anything, it could be ‘Felix’ under all those bags, a concept Stray Kids has touched on before in their song Voices. But it also could mean negative voices coming from other people, things like bullying, and with the facelessness aspect of the PBP, things like cyberbullying. These are issues which everyday people deal with, but are also rampant in the KPop space, not just for Stray Kids, but for all Idol groups.

so ive written here and there abt this but, since we've established that this takes place after @forgottenedmund reveals his involvement in the battle of m, im thinking that rosie is still kinda reeling from that!! im sorta hc'ing w this that that happened like...maybe literally just days ago?? lizzy, lmk ur thoughts on that? <3 but anyway!! that it was certainly recent and like!! as we all know rosie is an enneagram type 7 so her whole thing is fear of pain and like!!!!! she's been running from her father's death partially ~by throwing herself into this whole thing w edmund and that just came and slammed her really hard in the face so she is!! not doing too well w all this and its bringing everything up to the surface and this time there is nowhere to run so she's realizing she's gonna actually have to ~deal w it and like !!!!! no thanks!!!!! but here we are

B:  What was the first fandom you read fic in? Which was the first you wrote fic for?

Yu-Gi-Oh! for both! But I gave up my first story after... one chapter? The first fandom I really wrote for with any earnestness was Devil May Cry.

M: What’s the weirdest AU scenario you’ve ever come up with?  Did it turn into a story?

Probably Lucky Child! I did some crack-fic crossovers a while back that were weird, but I'm not sure if they count. LC's core concept takes YYH and gives it an AU spin, in a sense, and that one goes such weird places I feel like it has to count. EDIT: Scooby-Doo, Where are Yu-Yu? is my favorite weird crossover I've written. If that counts as an AU, then that's probably my weirdest one!

O: What are your thoughts on people writing fanfic of your fanfic?

Totally fine. Just credit/tag me so I can read it! ... I finished answering the other questions, gave this an editing pass, and paused at this answer. The definition of "fanfic of a fanfic" feels oddly nebulous. If someone writes a fanfic about NQK and others within the LC-verse, that's totally fine. I feel less happy about someone, say, trying to write the ending of LC while I'm on hiatus and calling it a fanfic of my fanfic. Does that count as fanfic-fanfic? I hope not... I guess I'm not sure where the line is! But writing about NQK and the LC-verse is totally OK and I like seeing people's different takes on the universe I've written so long as they aren't, you know... pulling my SI out of NQK and swapping themselves in or something. That feels less cool to me, though I'm having trouble articulating why.

Y: What are your thoughts on your personal satisfaction with something you’ve written vs. the popularity of your stories? Do you tend to be most satisfied with your most popular stories?  

One of my favorite stories is Queen of This Backwater Moon, a Cowboy Bebop fanfic, which isn't popular at all. I really love that one and feel happy with the chapters I've written. In contrast, there are large parts of LC I'm dissatisfied with, and that's my most popular work by a wide, wide margin. So I guess I'd say my personal satisfaction isn't tied to popularity.

Writing Year in Review - 2023

I have to say, 2023 was an odd year for me.

I finally made it to TFCon again (after taking a long hiatus during the pandemic), and it was absolutely lovely to see everyone. I got to meet some new folks face-to-face, and meet up again with people I'd met in 2019. Spouse came with me this time, and he had a pretty good time (despite only being a TF fan via osmosis).

We did no other travel, though. Part of that was because we got a new cat, so we're back to needing to make kenneling arrangements before going anywhere. And as much of a joy as our cat is, that has made travel a little more inconvenient.

I had some major disruptions at work this year, completely upending the end of my summer and start of fall. As a direct result of this, the coming year is going to be extremely challenging work-wise as I get caught up on some things. Hopefully by late summer 2024, the pressure will be off and I can relax again (back into my usual level of work-related stress).

I also had my first round of Covid in 2023, which absolutely sucked. F minus, not recommended. I came very close to going to the ER during the worst of it, and the aftermath continued to kick my ass for months. The fatigue and brain fog was real, but the other health issues that it produced are still with me. Thank god for vaccines; I don't know how things might have gone if I hadn't been vaccinated.

In the coming year, I am going to try to focus on being kind to myself, both mentally and physically. Part of that is going to include the expectations I'm setting for myself for writing.

In December, I wrote 5,500 words, most of it in the story I've started posting, A Matter of Propriety. The story is still being posted (and I need to finish writing it!!) and I'm hoping to keep up my once-a-week posting schedule. If I can't make good progress on the next chapter this week, I'll probably drop into an every-other-week schedule instead, just so I can maintain my chapter buffer. (The story will likely have eight chapters total.)

For the year, in 2023 I wrote 62,502 words. Most of that was on A Matter of Propriety and Again and Again and Again (my TF Big Bang fic). However, I only posted 24,184 words to AO3, split between 4 completed works. (A Matter of Propriety will finish in 2024, so its stats will eventually count for that year.)

Most months I didn't set a specific word count goal, and that's ok. But possibly as a result, my output was all over the map. The two major peaks are in April (when I did the bulk of my Big Bang fic writing), and July (when I got a smutty fic idea and banged (hah) it out really quick).

Like always, my average words per hour is pretty consistent, although not as much as in previous years. Still, it shows that when I do sit down and write, I get consistent work done.

As I mentioned, I didn't make specific writing goals most months, but when I did, I never reached them. That tells me I am setting my goals too high, and I need to be more realistic.

As for the goals I set for myself for 2023, I did pretty awful. 😅 Again, I think I was just setting expectations too high for myself.

Finish Sun and Moon (working title) Nope. I barely worked on it at all.

Finish one Sparkr story (any of my bunnies or WIPs!) In progress? Call this 50%.

Write two comic scripts for practice Nope.

Make more progress in IDW2 reviews Nope, 0% progress made.

When chatting about this with a friend last night, I realized that THREE of my goals were basically "finish this longfic." Considering how much brainpower longfics take, it's no wonder I failed. So as part of my "be kind to myself" vision statement 😅 I'm going to focus on do-able goals, with one "stretch" longfic goal.

Write and post three one-shots

Start posting Sun and Moon (working title)

My rationale for these is: I really want to practice scriptwriting. I really want to finish getting those old fics back up in a better format. I LOVE the instant quick gratification of getting a short story written and posted. And the stretch goal is to start posting Sun and Moon. If I'm starting to post it, that means I am confident about finishing it. ✨

Behind the cut is the first sentence of each of the stories I posted (sans the reposted fics, since those were all backdated to their original posting dates), and the month it was posted in. I wish everyone a happy and safe 2024!

August. Plans in Plans. The tiny dot in the distance grew in size as it approached, until Megatron's optics were able to resolve it into the shape of a Seeker.

November. A Nice Set of Wheels. "So who is this guy, again?" Mirage asked, slipping between a box truck and a van.

December. A Matter of Propriety. Orion picked up his comm pad for approximately the thousandth time since being shown to his table, and checked it for messages.

APSJDNFNWJFJEJX OK SO IVE JUST CAUGHT UP ON TEAM HARMONY (Turns out I didn’t read up to chapter 23 like I thought I did-) AND THE NEWEST CHAPTER TOO AND- O M G ? ? ? ? ?

First off: It was literal PERFECTION- frickin Itachi and Hinata are so CUTE and I love the way they interact!!! (Her noticing Itachi’s attractiveness was a nice add on!!!)

Itahina is literally my weak spot, every time y’all write it I feel a piece of myself m e l t ! i feel like this little scene might lead to conflict later down the line between Hinata and Sasuke though. He already feels second best to Itachi, and like his replacement, so how will he react once (if) he finds out about these little meet ups? speaking of conflicts- Naruto’s sadness/anger at the announcement made me feel for him like- i can’t- the way Sasuke handles it is kinda annoying like- HE WAS GONNA LEAVE HIM OUT OF SUNRISE WATCHING??? NAH-

Also! I’m very curious about Minato and what he’s doing about what Hinata told him about Itachi and Danzo. It’s definitely something important, and I know he’s doing an investigation, but it just feels like he’s not gonna be able to do much unless he gets something concrete, something he can chase. Which brings to mind, why didn’t Hinata tell him about the arm? Even though Itachi told her not to, would it not be helpful for her to throw Minato a bone and tell him?

And Sai sneaking around Hinata!!!! Danzo better watch out before dismissing her so easily, but what exactly will Sai be doing? What’s his mission? and the C-rank from hell!!! How will Team Kakashi handle Zabuza and Haku? Assuming y’all are following the canon timeline and will have that be their first c-rank! I’m really curious to see where everything will go!

There will definitely be some issues that will come to a boiling point by the time we hit the Search for Tsunade arc! In fact, it's something we're VERY excited to write and post up for our readers. I know what direction I want it to go in, but I have to let it write itself out when we get to it <3

As for how Sasuke handles Naruto's emotions, it's a bit heartless but he does have to think about it politically rather than emotionally. Still, he is also just a kid who is now officially engaged to the girl he's super into so he wants alone time. But I totally get it!

There's a lot that Hinata can't reveal to Minato outright, even though they're both aware of who her "source" is. With the arm, Itachi wants to be sure and have more information than just the arm. He wants to give Minato the how and who is helping so he'll have more to go on in the future. I hope that makes sense <3

Sai's mission is the one he is still working on when you meet him in Shippudden canonically! I should've made that one a bit more clear, sorry!

The Land of Waves arc is going to go mostly the same as in canon, so hopefully, it won't be too boring or even disappointing. There will be differences that account for how strong they currently are as well as having a Byakugan on the team this time around though!

Honestly, this hiatus was meant to also help me get my butt into gear so I can finish writing the rest of part one before giving birth, but I've mostly just been crocheting and sleeping and nesting! Hopefully, I can get more done soon!

Knocking on Ruki’s bedroom door, Virek entered, seeing the man inside.

“Hey… You’ve been in here a while, but… I have something for you.”

Virek held two rectangular shaped boxes in his hands. One being larger than the other, as the boy stood in the doorway.

“I don’t know much about the holiday… Or what I should have gotten you, but…”

The smaller box, which rested on top, contained a book. Mystery novel that had out pages all out of order, in which you had to take apart and rearrange to understand the story properly. The larger box? A puzzle. A blank jigsaw, with a piece missing— Though this one was larger than the one the pair had done for Virek’s birthday.

“I know it’s not much in terms of gifts… And I’m not a cook, nor do I have any special talents, but…”

Virek trailed off, looking down at his feet for a moment, before taking a breath. After a few long moments, his head tilted upwards; an unfamiliar expression on his face.

He was smiling.

“ I’ll make up for the lack of presents by doing whatever you want for the day… So…”

Virek’s smile widened— One that had his eyes closed. The action felt foreign, and stretched his face in ways he wasn’t used to, but it was genuine.

“Merry Christmas, Ruki.”

What a rarity,” a sardonic chuckle echoed in the stillness of the eldest Mukami’s bedroom following what felt like an eternity of silence. “But I can’t say it isn’t refreshing to hear someone who also would rather spend his days indoors than outside, subjecting himself to the obnoxious Christmas carols and garish illuminations. If ignorance is bliss, then ignorance towards the holidays must be true paradise.”

While Ruki was the last person to ever succumb to the joys of gift-giving and receiving presents from a cherished one, seeing Virek again after yearning for his presence for so long ignited his heart more so than the warm Christmas lights strung all throughout town, or the sparklers and fireworks to commemorate the new year. Although he lived through and experienced the same useless festivities more than he would’ve liked, more than he could’ve possibly fathomed decades ago, Ruki began to wonder how his stance would change with Virek around. He internally praised the human more than he let on for not indulging in such an excuse to waste money and other resources all in the name of celebration, yet at the same time the Vampire found himself pitying the other for his lack of experiences, deprived of a festivity that all of mankind was all too fond of.

“Really, you didn’t have to go this far for me, Virek. The fact that you would go out of your way to secure something tangible, despite being unfamiliar with the holidays, speaks volumes more than you know. Come to think of it, just where did you find the time to obtain these behind my back? Well, no matter. And enough about how ‘talentless’ you are; talentless or not, I’m glad these gifts are from you, of all people. If it was from anyone else, barring perhaps my brothers, I’d return their presents before they could finish wishing me Merry Christmas. But… Whatever I want, for the rest of the day? That’s bold even for you. Someone as bright as you should know that you’re practically inviting me to torment you.”

Almost hesitantly taking the presents into his large, calloused hands, Ruki unraveled its contents to reveal the disarranged mystery novel as well as the jigsaw with one of its pieces missing. A knowing smirk quickly spread across his visage at the thought of a task so intellectually stimulating, and just thinking of piecing back together a story so intricately scattered about pleased the Vampire greatly. The same could be said for the puzzle, posing even more of a challenge than the one they did together previously, although that smirk soon dissipated at the most unusual sight: a smile on Virek’s face. Time seemingly froze over in that moment, eliciting a raise of Ruki’s brow as if questioning the human boy’s sanity.

“Virek… What’s gotten into you all of a sudden? You’re creeping me out with that look. It doesn’t suit you, and yet I cannot help but admire it. This is the first time I’ve seen you smile so sincerely.”

Approaching the human with an inquisitive expression, Ruki set aside the book and puzzle for later, gently snatching the other’s chin in his cold, pale fingers. Blue depths bore straight into the other’s crimson hues, a stark contrast much like their experience of the cruel world around them. Many humans revered this time as a way to gather their families for one grand feast, or perhaps even court their romantic interests in a magical, wintry setting amidst the Christmas trees and snowfall. One glance, and Ruki immediately knew those joyous occasions were stolen from Virek, yet he mustered this inexplicable kindness to gift the Vampire things he genuinely cared for and appreciated the moment he opened the boxes.

“Don’t smile so much just yet. We’re not finished here. Since you’ve been surprisingly well-behaved, I figured I’d get you something as well. It’s nothing to make a commotion over—not that you would—but I do hope you like it.”

In his other hand, a small, almost perfectly cubed present box emerged, neatly tied with a silver bow atop navy blue wrapping paper. When opened, it would reveal a snow globe: one containing the entirety of Kaminashi layered beneath a thin coat of white as the whole city occasionally glowed and flashed with tiny, vivid lights. Perhaps cliché, maybe even uncharacteristic of Ruki to give to someone else, yet he surmised holding a miniature replica of the area surrounding them in one’s palms would be only the start to their relationship of forming new, much more colorful, memories together.

“You and I have stayed under this roof longer than necessary, Virek. Even a good master ought to take his prey out for a walk or two,” he said half-jokingly. “Anywhere you want to go, just this once, we’ll go there together.”

Hello again Tumblr! It's been awhile since I was on this platform when I was an rper.
