#I keep seeing the comments about shindong

The kpop fan community is very fake. Obviously I won't put everyone in the same bag because I'm not that kind of person, but it hasn't even been a week of talking about how words and mass hate on the internet can affect our idols for those same people to celebrate Dayoung's comment towards Shindong because he supposedly "deserves it" and it is "an eye for an eye". Context here.
Shindong has been criticized, judged and labeled as macho and fatphobic for a comment that went out of context 10 years ago. The situation was this: A radio listener told him that she wanted to lose weight to look pretty for her boyfriend and he didn't agree. The phrase 'I am a man and you are a woman' that is attributed to Shindong is without context. He was debating how macho the girl's boyfriend was and what would happen if it was the other way around, then Shindong says: 'he could say I'm a man and you're a woman' thus showing a normalized macho thought in our society. He said that he would support his girlfriend's decision if it were the other way around, but he also mentioned that "If you'll be happier starting a diet do it, but only for yourself, not for someone else" That was it. He also wrote an apology on Twitter and mentioned that he would be more careful next time. But still many antis are not satisfied with that and they keep pointing him out for what he has done, does or does not do. To this day, many kpop fans take as fact and reality what some Twitter and TikTok accounts say about how "bad" Super Junior is. They have been in the kpop industry for over 18 years so I wouldn't be surprised if at some point they have made some ignorant comment because all of us have grown up with dysfunctional and toxic beliefs that over the years we have had to unlearn. And if you think that this is not real and is not valid, then I tell you that you will have to carry a huge guilt throughout your life that will make you unhappy.
Society is not the same as 10 years ago because we all evolve and change, it is part of the course of life and it is a reflection that we will not stay with a square mentality if it is not convenient for us and different vulnerable sectors who suffer different kinds of hatred, discrimination and rejection. And for that same reason, I do not label Dayoung as a bad person or fatphobic, because I do believe that it is valid that our mistakes do not label us and that we have the opportunity to grow and improve every day. She is young and just starting out in the world of kpop (and hopefully for her and her fans for many more years). The point of reflection here is about the fans and their malicious comments on the internet. I know we are all aware of what the community is like on twitter and tiktok (since many of us have moved from there to create a healthier community here on tumblr) but it never ceases to amaze me how lost many kpop fans are. Do you complain that the kpop industry is difficult and harmful? Ask yourself who consume it and what they demand. Everything is a vicious circle of supply and demand. If you really want to make the kpop industry healthier go to yourself and ask yourself what are you doing to make it better. Industries move and accommodate based on what the public prefers. If you continue to spread hate based on stereotypes, misinformation, ignorance and double standards, then you will continue to feed dehumanization in that industry that you want so badly to change. Please don't minimize the power of being kind and the ability to see life in a more nuanced way than just "bad" and "good." Believe me that by doing so you make a big change.

[KINGDOM: LEGENDARY WAR] episode seven
ateez 9th member.
➴ taglist: @banhmi07, @jiyeons-closet, @jaeminpeachy, @mochibabycakes
➴ masterlist
when jiyu wasn’t seen in any of the previews,
fans were scared and lowkey shocked since they thought she wasn’t in any of the subunits
until the 120 second kingdom contacts came out and she was in the thumbnail with...
peniel!! :D
meaning she was in the dance unit
as she should because have you heard of her performances from rounds one and two???
“What do you mean I’m scary?” Jiyu asked with a pout. She never pinned herself as intimidating, but apparently the few murmurs of agreement from the others watching on the side.
“Not in a bad way!” Peniel quickly explained. “It’s just that you’re so different now compared to when I see you on stage that it’s just scary sometimes.”
“Ahh,” she hummed, understanding what he meant. People have always commented on her stage presence, but this was the first time someone told her outright that it was intimidating.
“I even mentioned it on Dive Studios the other day...”
“Eh? Really?”
“Yeah, Eric started laughing at me until I showed him your fancam from the first round,” Peniel chuckled, recalling how Eric’s face morphed into amazement that “such energy came from a small girl”, so he said.
She suddenly felt shy at the thought of senior idols from Dive Studios watching her fancam. Cupping her pink cheeks in her hands, she heard Wooyoung’s loud voice ring throughout the room.
“AHH Baby Monster’s shy!”
when changmin started announcing rankings,
she was surprised they ranked second overall
baby was just happy they ranked in the top three :((
when changmin introduced super junior’s shindong and donghae as two of the special judges out of the 33,
she gasped and went :o (like literally all the boys)
she was really anticipating all of the stages since it wasn’t everyday they could collab with each other
but she had a dilemma since her boyfriend was in the opposite team and in the rap stage :((
she remembered sunwoo fanboying over bobby to her when she visited his dorm for his birthday :((
but she also found it really ironic that sunwoo and hwiyoung were performing together after all that happened
either way, she jammed out to their beat and lyrics
when wooyoung said hwiyoung was sexy and jongho went “i told you” she did a double take
“oOoOh jongho”
“i’m surprised you managed to save hwiyoung from sunwoo” (yeosang)
“...it took a while, but i managed”
(but that didn’t stop sunwoo from being the tiniest bit of savage towards hwiyoung when they were preparing—)
(and why hwiyoung felt the need to use formal language with sunwoo—)
cheered so hard for the mayfly rap team
she was already mesmerized when she watched their rehearsals, but the actual performance was just breathtaking
“that’s our leader!!” 🥺
when minhyuk made his grand entrance she went :O
she made sure to not hit anyone out of excitement with her left hand since it had the claw rings on them and she didn’t want to accidentally stab someone
she pat hongjoong’s head when he came back to the waiting room :((
(she’s the only one he allows to do that because he likes happy jiyu)
please when it was the dance unit’s turn she really stood up and started stretching even though they go after it’s one
but she found it’s one’s dance performance so pretty and elegant
“they all look so pretty!”
it seemed to fly by because before she knew it, it was mayfly’s turn
she actually wasn’t as nervous this time because she had a duo part with felix :D
but that didn’t mean she felt pressure
since they also recorded the song with their own voices, she was also able to showcase her rapping in the beginning (after felix’s part)
please, everyone wasn’t expecting her to sound so different when she raps 😭
her and felix’s duo part when they made eye contact? everyone ate that up
because they both looked so immersed in the performance and the feral look in both their eyes
and she lifted her left hand to accentuate the accessories on her fingers
peeked over her shoulder real quick to look at felix and wooyoung’s stunt before silently cheering that they safely succeeded
please, after the performance and her ending fairy moment,
she became the junior artists’ idol crush right then and there
even the other judges were impressed with her energy and power
but that persona went away as fast as it made its appearance because when the staff gave the okay, her earlier facial expression dropped and she lowkey started tearing up when they started to cheer and gather for a group hug
“oh no baby monster’s crying!”
“n-no i’m not!”
(thanks for exposing her wooyoung—)
“why why why?”
got crushed my mama seonghwa’s hug as he asked why she was tearing up :((
“Jiyu was pretty worried about the performance,” Wooyoung explained, patting her knee. “She was worried about not being able to keep up and it kind of stressed her out since she didn’t want to be the reason we lose points. It got to the point where she was the last one out of the practice room almost everyday.”
She nodded along to what he was saying, remembering all those nights when she stayed late to go over the choreography over and over again until she was satisfied.
"Don’t worry, our maknae did so well!” Peniel reassured, turning around to shoot her a grin. “She killed it out there!”
A small smile appeared on her face at everyone’s attempts to reassure her. because she was genuinely worried about falling behind or even lacking at certain parts of the performance. But those worries were quickly dispelled.
“We all managed to become really close with one another within this time period, and whether we win or lose, there’ll definitely be no regrets since we gave it our all. And even though after this, our time as a Mayfly will be over and we go back to competing against each other again, but we’ll always be cheering each other on,” she finished with a small nod.
Everyone nodded, agreeing with her words. They all appreciated the time they had together, even though it was endless, tiring hours of perfecting their performance.
“Who said this decides when the journey ends?” Peniel joked, earning whoops of “ooh’s” and agreement.
Jiyu chuckled at the man’s hype. “If that’s the case, it looks like this mayfly lives on for eternity!”
in conclusion, she grew really attached to the mayfly dance unit 🥺
bonus: peniel managed to get over his intimidation of her after spending time with her and realizing she was just a kid (that turns into a monster whenever she has to peform) :D

SuJu Reaction: S/O is around 10 years younger
Leeteuk
It doesn't always feel like you're younger than him. He has a real carefree childlike side to him, that he doesn't always get to set free in Super Junior what with being the leader and everything. When he's with you and he gets to relax a bit, he enjoys the fact that you are that much younger than him, but you are both mentally on the same level. He would definitely need to have the 'where is this going' conversation, to make sure you were serious about the relationship, but once he's happy there is some sort of future in it, he's not in any particular rush.
Heechul
He has said before that he prefers to date someone younger, and as long as you were both happy and he got on with you well, it wouldn't really concern him how much younger. If anyone else has a problem with it and can't keep it to themselves or be respectful of your relationship, prepare for angry Heechul. I feel like part of the reason he would be happier with a younger partner is because he wants to feel like he can look after and protect you, and that definitely includes defending you against people who judge the age gap.
Yesung
Age couldn't matter less to Yesung. If you love him and support him and let him be weird and clingy with you, he's a happy boy. Probably struggles with hate comments about the age gap though. Gets a bit insecure and mopey, so you need to give him even more cuddles than normal. If someone he knows makes a comment about it, he will just get mad at them, even if they are joking. Because he loves you. And no-one is going to stop that.
Shindong
Boy is a realist. He will be straight with you if he ever feels like the age gap causes an issue, but it rarely does. If he feels like it is bothering you, he won't drop it until you talk it through with him. Overall, he is far too chill about it to let something as insignificant as age be a problem. Will be your biggest support and cheerleader in life if you do the same for him. This includes helping you work out what you want from life, if you don't have that figured yet. If anyone tries to tease you two about it, he will just lean into it, joining in on the joke to make it clear that it doesn't bother him at all.
Eunhyuk
Another boy who needs to have the 'where is this going' talk. He is far too soft with children and therefore probably wants to be with someone who sees a future with him and some kids in it. If he gets insecure about the age gap and worries you might think about leaving him because of it he will spoil you to try and keep you around. You just need to remind him you love him and you chose him, and he can stop buying you things because you will run out space to keep them.
Siwon
The gentleman of the group. Very traditional, and would naturally go for a younger s/o anyway. Very respectful and would let you set the pace of the relationship, but good luck saying no to his puppy eyes if he does want things to go his way. He just needs cuddles and love, no matter how old you are.
Donghae
He is so full of love, but also insecurities. Read my full imagine about him with a younger S/O here.
Ryeowook
Eternal maknae probably still looks younger than you! If people don't actually know your ages they wouldn't know there was a gap, so you guys get very little judgement from other people. You are just a very adorable couple and both get babied a bit by the other SuJu boys.
Kyuhyun
Very good at pretending other peoples opinions don't bother him, even when they do. Anyone who tries to say something to him about it will be on the receiving end of some evil maknae sass, but behind closed doors it does get to him sometimes. Will either get super clingy or distance himself, so you can tell something is wrong and sit him down and assure him he's the only man for you

When You Worry During Pregnancy ~ Super Junior Reaction
Leeteuk:
Your smile softened as Jeongsu laid himself down beside your bump, resting his hand across the middle of it delicately. “Can you believe there’s less than a month to go now?” He asked, tilting his head up to look at you.
Slowly your head nodded, “it’s gone so quick.” You tried to force a smile, but by the expression on your face, Jeongsu could tell something wasn’t right.
“You’re scared, aren’t you?” He asked.
“The thought of giving birth is terrifying, there’s so many things that could go wrong,” you frowned, as he pushed himself up to lay beside you properly.
His lips pressed to your cheek, “you don’t need to be scared, I’ll be there.”
“But what if something goes wrong? We can’t prepare for every situation.”
“Exactly, no one knows what is going to happen, but worrying and stressing won’t help you or the baby,” he reminded you.
“I know,” you sighed, turning inwards towards his chest, “it’s just you see it on programmes and stuff, and they make it look so easy.”
He chuckled lightly, “I promise you it will be easier than you’re thinking, you’ve always worried yourself more than you need to.”
“I just can’t help it, it’s a scary time.”
“It’ll be fine, trust me.”
Heechul:
Your body relaxed as soon as Heechul’s arms draped around you on the sofa, throwing the blanket over both your bodies. “We’re going to need a bigger blanket soon,” he joked, carefully tucking it around your bump.
You groaned in response to him, “I’m glad your biggest worry is the size of the blanket, I’ve got to give birth to this giant thing in a couple of months.”
“Why are you being like that?” He questioned.
“I’m sorry, it’s just the past few days it’s really dawned on me that I’m pregnant,” you sighed, pinching at the end of the blanket, “it’s beginning to worry me.”
He smiled softly, “I’m worried too, you’re not the only one.”
“But you just get to stand back and watch me give birth Heechul.”
“And that’s what worries me the most, knowing that I’m going to have to stand there helplessly absolutely terrifies me,” he admitted, kissing against the side of your head.
“Trust me, if we could swap positions, I’d happily let you endure labour,” you chuckled, brushing your hand through his curls.
He smiled down at you, “and you know that I would swap positions a heartbeat. We’re both going to worry, but it will be alright.”
“We’ll have our baby by the end of it.”
“Exactly, and that’s something to look forward to.”
Yesung:
You struggled to keep it together as you watched Jungwoon begin to pack up the hospital bag on your bed. “Did you write the list that I asked you too?” He spoke, as he began to grab the essentials, he knew that you’d need.
You frowned, shaking your head. “I’m sorry, it completely slipped my mind, I’ve just been thinking about other things,” you frantically replied.
“Hey, take a breath,” he quickly instructed.
“All of this is making me so anxious,” you huffed as Jungwoon took a seat beside you, “why do people tell you pregnancy is exciting? When all I’m doing is worrying.”
His arm draped around your shoulder, “because you always worry.”
“I can’t believe I forgot to write the list, you told me enough times to do it.”
“We can just take our time and go through some things now,” he assured you, pulling out his phone. “Why don’t we make a list now?”
“But I should have done it last week,” you continued to groan, silenced by Jungwoon’s lips pressing against your cheek. “I’m sorry.”
A light giggle escaped from him, “you don’t need to apologise, let’s just blame it on the baby and do it now, how does that sound?”
“Why are you always so nice to me?”
“Because you’re my wife, and pregnant, that’s why.”
Shindong:
For a while Donghee had been watching you as you sat to the table and looked down at your final scan photo from earlier on in the day. “It doesn’t feel like that’s our last scan,” he commented as he came to the table with dinner.
Your eyes stayed fixated on the scan photo, “the next time we go to the hospital will probably be to give birth, that doesn’t sit right with me just yet.”
“Are you still worrying about all of this?” He queried.
“How can I not when it’s so close to my due date?” You nervously called out to him, moving closer to his side, “it’s all I can think about.”
He smiled softly, “you have to think positive thoughts though jagi.”
“I’m trying, but there’s always that voice in the back of my mind.”
“Please don’t fret about things you can’t change, neither of us will know what happens until it happens,” he whispered, resting his hand against you.
“That’s what worries me more, the fear of the unknown, or even worse, something going wrong,” you replied, getting yourself more worked up.
His grip around you tightened, “I promise you now that I will not let anything bad happen to you or the baby, I’ll protect you always.”
“How can you be so confident of that?”
“I just am, it’s a gut feeling.”
Eunhyuk:
Your figure spun as you looked over yourself in the mirror, adjusting your dress so it fitted better around your bump. “Don’t you look nice,” Hyukjae smiled as he joined you in the bedroom, fixing up his suit jacket.
You chuckled as he walked across to you, “I look like I’m carrying four babies not one. Why does everyone else have pretty bumps, but I don’t?”
“You’re talking absolute nonsense,” he laughed.
“Am I?” You asked, continued to tug at the material of your dress, “I look huge in this, do we even have to go to this dinner anyway?”
His head nodded, “let’s just show our face, but you do look nice.”
“Isn’t there some sort of clause that obliges you to say that as a husband?”
“There might be, but regardless, it’s true,” he hummed, nuzzling into your neck, “please trust me when I tell you that the dress looks incredible.”
“Can I steal one of your jackets to wear over it at least?” You asked, to which Hyukjae quickly nodded, dragging you over to his wardrobe.
He stood back as you picked one out, “you don’t need it, but if it makes you more comfortable, I won’t stop you from wearing one.”
“Are you going to be this nice all night long?”
“I’m always nice! How dare you!”
Siwon:
The page of your book turned dark as you glanced up and saw Siwon stood before you, prying the book out of your hands. “You’re doing yourself more harm reading all of this,” he commented, placing the book on the table.
Your head shook, watching as he placed it well out of reach, “they tell you all the things to expect during labour, which is actually quite handy.”
“But you don’t know what your labour will be like,” he retorted.
“I just want to be prepared,” you sighed, as he sat himself down beside you, “there’s so many situations that I could find myself in, I want to know what will happen.”
His expression softened, “what if it’s a new situation for anyone?”
“Can’t you just let me worry for once instead of try and make the situation better?”
“I’m sorry, I just don’t want to see you fret,” he frowned, pulling you into his toned chest, “you’re overthinking all of this too much.”
“I know you’re right, but I don’t know how else to cope, no one prepares you for this part of pregnancy,” you continued to vent.
His lips nudged against the side of your head, “you can talk to me, you’ve already said that I help to make the situation better.”
“You’ll get bored of listening to me moan.”
“I could never bore of listening to you.”
Donghae:
His eyes were focussed on your leg bouncing up and down as you sat in the waiting room of the hospital. “Are you that nervous?” He questioned, squeezing your hand gently that you had rested in his lap.
Your eyes glanced across at him, “hospitals always make me nervous; I always feel like someone will give me bad news in these places.”
“But our baby is good news, not bad news,” he comforted.
“I know, I still just have a feeling,” you sighed, resting your head against his shoulder, “it doesn’t feel right that something good can happen in a hospital.”
His head shook, “you might have to change that mindset whilst you’re pregnant.”
“I know, it’s stupid to think that something could go wrong.”
“It’s not stupid, it’s real,” he assured you, offering you a wide smile, “it’s natural to have a few worries in the back of your mind.”
“You worry too?” You asked, as his head nodded in response. “I thought it was just me being a protective mother.”
His fingers intertwined in with yours, “it’s not being protective, it’s what all parents are like, I’d worry if you weren’t worried jagi.”
“That’s made me feel a lot better Donghae.”
“Good, just try not to worry about a thing.”
Ryeowook:
You threw the screwdriver down to the floor as yet again the panel of the unit you tried to build fell apart. “I told you to let me do it,” Ryeowook chuckled as he walked back into the room with two mugs of hot coffee.
You shook your head bitterly, “I said that I’d help you build the stuff for the nursery, so that’s what I’m going to do. I’ll get the hang of it.”
“Remember you’re pregnant, please don’t stress yourself out too much,” he pleaded.
“I’m doing this to distract myself from being pregnant, I want to do normal things again,” you informed him, taking the mug that he offered out to you.
His head shook gently, “there’s plenty of things you can do, like rest.”
“All I’ve done for the past month and a half is rest, I think I’m rested out Ryeowook.”
“I think the baby will be the judge of that,” he joked, desperate to bring a smile back to your face, “if you want to carry on, stop stressing.”
“I’ll stop stressing when this nursery is built, it’s so much more hassle than I thought,” you admitted, brushing a hand through your hair.
His head nodded in agreement, “when the baby is here, the nursery will be complete, I’ll make sure of it. We still have time.”
“You really think we’ll get it done in time?”
“Of course, even if it will need a few late nights.”
Kyuhyun:
His smile softened as finally your tears dried, looking down at your restless figure laid out across his chest. “Do you want to know a secret?” He whispered down to you, pressing a feathery kiss to the top of your head.
You nodded, glancing up at him through teary eyes, “if you’re going to tell me you don’t want a baby, it’s a little too late.”
“Of course, I want it. What I was going to say is, I’m nervous too,” he admitted.
“You’re nervous?” You asked, slightly in disbelief. “But you’ve been so calm throughout all of this, you’ve never given me the impression that you’re scared.
He chuckled lightly, “that’s because I wanted to make sure you weren’t scared.”
“I’ve been scared since that test came back positive, it’s a constant mood at this point.”
“I know, but now I think it will make you feel better if you know you’re not alone in worrying,” he informed you, squeezing you a little tighter.
“I guess it does make me feel better knowing that you feel the same,” you muttered, thinking about it more, “I thought I was crazy.”
He paused for a moment furrowing his brows, “you’re definitely crazy,” he teased, earning himself a slap against the chest.
“Just because I’m defenceless, doesn’t mean you can be cruel.”
“I’m only messing with you, you’re a perfect pregnant mess to me.”

Idol Crush on Their Show - Suju Reaction
Requested by anon! Now I admit, I’m not an expert on variety shows, so most of these will just be vague descriptions of variety show lol. Again, below the cut ‘cause it’s long.
Leeteuk
Leeteuk is one of the best members at keeping his cool. He’d see that you’re appearing on the show, and would feel a little nervous, but his priority is being the best MC for the viewers. If he had never been on a show with you before, or knew this was your first time on this show, he’d try and catch you before hand. Leeteuk would make sure you felt comfortable, especially if you were a rookie idol, cracking jokes and telling funny stories about the other MCs and Super Junior’s first variety experiences. If you had been an idol for a while, he would use it as a chance to get to know you better and tease you for not being on one of his shows before. After the show, Leeteuk would come congratulate you, thank you for coming, and maybe ask you out.
Heechul
Heechul is a MESS. As soon as he finds out you’ll be on Knowing Brothers, he’ll try and hide his red ears. The night before, he can’t even sleep, he’s so nervous. Heechul is about as transparent as their Fanship photocards, so everyone else knows he’s got a little crush. If you think they aren’t gonna tease the crap out of him, you’re wrong. Heechul will be blushy and nervous during most of the filming. By the end of the show, you would have figured out what’s going on. Once filming ends, you would go over to ask you out, and Heechul would accept with a huge smile on his face.
Yesung
Yesung was promoting Pink Magic around the same time you were promoting your latest work. He knew there was a chance you two might be on the same show, but that didn’t stop him from freaking out internally when his manager told him. At home, he would be practicing what he wanted to say to you. He would reach out to Leeteuk and Heechul and beg them to help him with his variety skills (as long as they didn’t tell the other members). Before the filming, he would approach you and ask about common interests. When he found out you liked coffee, he would invite you to a nearby cafe after the shoot.
Shindong
Shindong is another fairly level-headed member. He'd have a small smile on his face when he found out you two would be on the same talent swapping competition show. Shindong would teach you to dance like him, and you would teach him to sing like you. Over the course of the show, he'd use his charms to win you over. He wouldn't ask you out until the show was over, just in case you declined. After the finale, where you two won, he would pull you aside and tell you that he loved working with you, and wanted to continue your friendship to something more.
*side note, Shindong's singing voice? What an angel*
Eunhyuk
Eunhyuk thinks he's acting cool and collected when he hears you'll be on Weekly Idol, but spoiler alert, he's not. His blush is easy to see. Kwanghee confronts Eunhyuk about it but he just plays dumb. Eunhyuk, like Leeteuk, tries to make you as comfortable as possible when you come on the show. He'll make jokes about being a variety show killer to ease your nerves. After the show, he would give you his contact information "in case you need anything" as a way to get your number so he can talk to you more.
Donghae
A blushy, whiny baby. As soon as he hears that he's on the same show as you, he's going to his members and his managers, begging them for help. It's all he can talk about in the weeks preceding filming. Shindong and Eunhyuk get so fed up, they arrange for you two to meet a few days before, because Donghae is so nervous. When you actually film the show, it goes super well because of how you already know each other (and how you're already dating).
Siwon
Siwon is excited to hear that you’re his costar in his latest drama. He has a big crush on you due to your acting ability and can’t wait to see it in action. If your characters are romantic interests, Siwon will definitely bring flowers to break the ice. He’s definitely going to ask you to hang out with him off set so the two of you can get to know each other and build up chemistry “for the show”. As the two of you get closer, he’d find himself falling more in love with you. Once the show is filmed and promotions for it are over, Siwon would ask you out for real.
Ryeowook
Ryeowook ends up being more hyper than usual when he realizes that he and you will be on the same show. He reaches out to a mutual friend of yours to find out your favorite kind of coffee, and makes sure to bring it to you. Ryeowook would give you a tour of the studio beforehand, telling you about the best places to get away from everyone and funny stories from on set. You end up matching his energy level, becoming hyper too, to make for a very energetic shoot. The other guests can’t help but comment on how similar you two are, and Ryeowook can’t hide his smile every time they say it.
Kyuhyun
Kyuhyun is the type to seem completely unaffected. When he, Mino, Jaehyun, and PO walk in to find out you’re the newest cast member, the editors are a little disappointed in his lack of reaction. He greets you in a friendly manner, but doesn’t have the excitement the others (especially Mino) has. Later on, Hodong brings it up, suggesting that Kyuhyun doesn’t seem to care because he has a crush on you. Cue flustered, blushing Kyu, frantically denying it. You’ll tease Kyuhyun about it, saying you’d rather he like you too much than not like you at all. After filming, you’d approach him and make sure he’s alright, with no hard feelings after your teasing. A close friendship (and eventually relationship) would soon develop.

Royal Guard!Johnny
here for the obligatory annual “yes i’m still around and yes i know where my computer keyboard is” post, may do more but probably not tbh. if you’re still here and reading, i love you and also highly question why you’re so dedicated. not that i mind, i truly appreciate it, but still.
also, this is female!reader because i had so much trouble writing this in a gender-neutral manner. if you want a gender-neutral/male!reader version, let me know and i’ll do my best!
Always cordial and polite, not just with you but anyone he comes across
So many of the guards tend to have this air of superiority, talking down to those that aren’t within their ranks or of a higher status, but Johnny has the same level of manners for the elderly shopkeeper in town as he does for you, the crown princess of the country
Not only that, he’s also extremely attentive to your needs, even the ones that he isn’t necessarily responsible for
He always has a bag with first-aid supplies, snacks, water, and even portable chargers and a Game-Boy somewhere within reach
And he’s always willing to have a conversation with you, listen to your concerns and worries and sorrows
You actually came to know Johnny when he was guarding your brother, a seven year old who was incredibly funny and also insanely gross
After your brother turned ten he was sent off to a private school with their own security teams, so Johnny was moved over to you
You loved being around him; his positivity and kindness could melt even the toughest of moods, something your mother had noticed when she was looking for his new assignment
You remember when she called Johnny to the throne room; he’d still been just barely an adult then, looking young and boyish in armor slightly too big for him He had bowed deeply to her, so much that the weight of the heavy metal chainmail nearly tipped him over, and she smiled back as she informed him that he was being removed from his position with your brother, that he would now be tasked with being in your guard. He had given her a nod and an “as you wish” that was almost too wavering with forced professionalism before turning to you with a nervous little grin, asking what you needed of him in a way that had melted your heart.
Over time, the two of you had grown into a rhythm; you would walk the gardens in the morning, him following like a shadow as you chatted with the gardeners and groundskeepers. After that you would tend to your schoolwork, and then the minor royal duties you were given after you’d finished your education, occasionally letting him distract you with stories of the younger guards’ antics as you tried to pass time until dinner, and then at the end of the day you would always sit and talk together about the country.
Even when you were young, you were always looking to improve the life of the commoners of the land, and given his background, Johnny was much more connected to them than you could ever be. He had influenced policies you’d drafted on education, social welfare programs, and even some of your first quality-of-life recommendations like repairing historical sites and landmarks in the smaller villages of the country, such as the town he had visited often as a child. You were beloved in your country, and had become lauded as the “princess of the people,” always pushing for your constituents to be represented and thought of at every turn, but you always made sure that Johnny knew that you couldn’t do any of it without him by your side.
However, those outside of your borders tended to see you as much less kind and gentle, but rather stubborn and almost bitchy. You wouldn’t let your country’s people be used or walked over, refusing to give in to the demands of others that saw you as small and weak and risk your citizens’ wellbeing in the process. You sat in meeting with lawmakers, voice steady as you refused to even consider letting your constituents have their taxes raised in the name of increasing their own salaries, clashed with conglomerates that wanted you to turn a blind eye to pollution and mistreatment of their workers, even going as far as pressuring officials into dissolving royal contracts with major companies that relied on unfair practices, and you had even notably walked out of a meeting with a royal from another family after they had insinuated that perhaps you had let your public persona blind you to what was truly good for your country (in this case, letting their country use your resources without regard to the needs of the the common folk of yours).
Some other players in larger, wealthier countries had even decided that you were too much of an inconvenience, made too much noise, and wanted to eliminate you from your country’s line of succession by any means necessary. Because of this you had come to be assigned more guards over time, generally keeping a rotating team that you had jokingly nicknamed the 127 Squad because they seemed to have an endless supply of members. Some members like Ten, or Lucas rotated in during special occasions like state visits, and you occasionally had a knight-in-training such as the quiet Renjun or the child-like Jeno in addition to the usual two or three full-time guards.
There were eight other consistent members that you had come to be familiar with, though; Haechan was loud and boisterous in a manner quite similar to your brother, while his best friend Mark was quiet, shy, and a little nervous with a sword despite all of his experience. Taeyong, Taeil, and Doyoung treated you like their child in different ways, and Jungwoo was dreamy and often in his own head (although you weren’t sure if maybe that was just a facade, since he was one of the first to act if you felt in danger). Your favorite story was how poor Jaehyun and Yuta had been banned from attending public events after they went unintentionally viral for their handsome looks during a press conference about a new retirement plan you had orchestrated.
Johnny was always the constant, though; he was at every event, every meeting, always directly to your right in a manner that had started more than one rumor about your professional relationship and how it was more than just professional after all. And as much as you would never admit it, you hated the rumors because of their semi-truth; sure, you weren’t in a relationship, but it’s not like you would be opposed to that at all.
He was just as kind and funny as ever, but more mature and elegant now; he would help you out of your car even if there was a chauffer that was supposed to fill that role, lift children on his shoulders during your usual visits to local schools and smile with pride as they giggled and screamed. He would even sit next to you and run his hand between your shoulder blades when you had panic attacks about whether you were really fit to lead the country, reassuring you that your people loved you for a reason; not to mention that he had become very attractive over time; the boyish smiles were now replaced with kind grins, his armor now fit him like a glove, and every time he sowed the protective nature that he had developed toward you, you would swoon a little on the inside.
But there were strict rules about romance between royals and staff, if anyone found out that you even had a crush on him he would be moved out of your team and possibly out of your family entirely, which you couldn’t stand the idea of. So you kept your mouth shut, never letting your inhibitions take over you when he called your name with a kindness that made your knees weak, or when he would step in front of you in a protective manner at a rare threat made directly to your face. You had done well with it too, up until you had gone on your first state visit to another country without your parents or any other major officials.
You had been sent out to visit a country run by a set of princes almost double your age, with nobody but five members of your guard (Taeyong, Doyoung, Mark, Jaehyun, Ten, and of course Johnny) alongside you. The men were all openly uncomfortable with your presence at times; sometimes this was shown by you being excluded from conversations about “grown-up matters that didn’t concern you,” as you had once overheard the crown prince Leeteuk commenting, to even pressuring you with questions and comments that were bizarre at best and outright offensive at worst. You had tried to brush it off, since the visit was less than a week and very important, but it was hard to do so when you felt like you were having the life sucked out of you.
It wasn’t until the last day when you had finally had enough; Leeteuk had sat across from you, flanked by all of his fellow princes, and pushed a document that looked way too official to be presented in such a way to your side of the table with an expectant glare.
“What is this?”
“It’s the resolution that we’ve all been working on this week, I expect you to sign it for us now.”
“I’m sorry, I won’t sign something unless I know its contents. If you give me some time to look over it, I’d be happy to come back with my concerns and a signature if I feel it’s mutually beneficial.”
“I’m sorry?”
One of the other princes, Shindong, looked down at you with a glance of something resembling anger, and you could almost hear Johnny and Taeyong tensing at your sides, preparing to step in should the princes show signs of being a threat to your well-being.
“I mean, you say that it’s the resolution we’ve been working on, but I’ve been constantly shuttered out of any meaningful conversation about this legislature since I arrived. I don’t know what’s been done in front of me, let alone without me present, and by signing it I could be agreeing to any number of measures I don’t agree with or understand. I will not sign this unless I am given an adequate chance to look over it and bring my own concerns forward as a representative of my country.”
“See, I don’t think you understand how this works. You are in our country, under our roof, and we fully expect you to comply with our expectations while here. So you will sign this document.”
“Or what?”
You straightened yourself out, glaring daggers at the youngest prince (Kyuhyun, you believe) that had been so demanding to you. You could feel Johnny resting a hand on your shoulder, reassuring but warning, as Taeyong stepped out to certainly inform the other guards of the situation and have them start collecting your things to go home.
“If you force me to sign it, I and my guards will both bring the manner forward publicly that it was signed under duress. Any measure that you believe you could take to force me, such as physical punishment or holding me hostage, is an act of war by your government against a foreign diplomat on your soil and will be treated as such. I will not be threatened, forced, or coerced into giving my consent in a matter I do not understand, and the idea that I would do such a thing is actively preposterous at best and offensive at worst. So if you don’t mind, I will be leaving your country at the earliest opportunity, since it’s clear that you have no intent of cooperating with me and I will not stay in a place where I feel unwelcome and endangered. If this is an issue, please feel free to take it up with my guards or any citizen of my country, who will happily inform you of my stance on public policy that would affect them.”
You stood to leave, and Siwon matched your movement, grabbing your wrist with such force that you audibly hissed.
“Little girl, this is no business for you to be fighting against. Sign the papers and then you can go whenever you please.”
“My princess has stated that she intends to leave,” you were surprised by Johnny, stepping forward, forcing Siwon’s hand off of you before carefully pushing you behind him with one arm to shelter you from the men in front of you, “and as far as I am concerned, she gets what she wants when it’s her well-being at risk. Please stand down and allow her to leave, since we mean no harm. I’m sure that if this legislature is as important as you state it to be that she would need to blindly sign onto it, the king and queen would happily do instead, so I implore you to speak to them about the matter.”
Johnny walked you out, a hand around your waist with a stern expression as he kept looking back to the room of bewildered and infuriated princes. It wasn’t until he had accompanied you back to your room, firmly shutting and locking the door behind him, that he let the cold demeanor slip away. He asked how you were, a nervous expression on his face at the situation you had found yourselves in.
“I just...I want to go home. I want to go home and rest, and be with my family and friends again. I don’t feel safe here.”
He nodded solemnly, fingers dancing across your wrist as he lifted it to the level of your chest, scowling at the already-deepening purples and yellows where you’d been held.
“I’m sorry, I should have stepped in sooner.”
“You did everything right. You tried to let me handle it, and protected me when I couldn’t do it anymore.”
You leaned into his touch, and he seemed almost surprised as you let yourself fall completely into his arms, barely catching you. He held you upright for a moment, only pulling back when he noticed that you had started to cry.
“Princess...”
“Please, call me by my name. We’re friends, you deserve that much.”
He did so, gently taking you back into his grasp and reassuring you with a gentle swaying as you awaited the word of Taeyong that you could leave.
“I’m sorry, I can’t keep doing this anymore.”
He pulled back, concern and worry apparent in his expression at your bizarre change in tone.
“Can’t do what?”
“I..look, I love you. Not as my guard, not as my friend, but in a way that’s so much more than that. And I’ve been so scared to tell you because I knew it could get you taken from me, but you deserve to know. You’ve been nothing but kind and wonderful and hell, you’re perfect, but I can’t keep standing here, falling in love a little more every time you so much as look at me without telling you about it.”
He looked confused for a moment, but surprised you with a large, almost goofy smile that reminded you of your younger days with him.
“Don’t act like that, like it’s the end of it. I know it’s not allowed, just as much as you do, but I love you too and I’ve wanted to tell you forever.”
You laughed, almost bitter with the threat of separation between you two.
“How is it not the end of it?”
“I...I’ve been talking with your mother about...us. About how I feel. She’s going to remove me from the guard altogether, and I was going to move into an advising role for you where I’d be able to ask you out. I was planning on telling you after we returned form the visit, since it was only finalized after we arrived, but then...”
It took a moment to register what he had said, but as soon as it had clicked you threw your arms around him with an almost childlike excitement.
“I’ll be here for you until you don’t want me anymore, okay? I promise. Me and you, just like it’s been since you were sixteen.”
The words were gentle, kind, and you couldn’t help but relax at the truthfulness he carried in his tone. You wanted to stay like this forever, but it was all too soon that there was a knock on the door as Taeyong informed you that your car was waiting out front and the princes had finally agreed to stand down and let you leave in peace. You took a moment to collect yourself before heading to the door, and Johnny gave your hand a reassuring squeeze before opening it.
“Would you like me to ride with you today, your highness?”
“Actually, if it’s okay, I’d rather have Johnny with me. I’ve been under a lot of stress during this trip, and I find him rather comforting to have around.”
He stifled a laugh behind his hand, and you couldn’t help but grin at the almost knowing glance Taeyong spared you. You walked past the princes in uncomfortable silence, only sparing a small bow before you stepped into your car, Johnny following and moving to sit next to you as the door closed.
“So, we’ve got six hours until we’re back in our kingdom, do you want to play Super Mario Land or something?”
You burst out laughing, head falling back against his shoulder as you gave him a small nod through the rhythm of your breathing. He smiled as he gave you the old lime Game Boy, shifting to move an arm around you so he could watch you play, and you couldn’t help but notice how this felt just like home.

Super Junior: Dating a Popular Broadway/Musical Actress
//weee back at it again with another headcanon! Hope the anon who requested it liked it! Tell me what you think! Also, i’m including Sungmin in all my writings now! But, it will be him and his wife! Sorry if you’re an OT9 or what! //
Boyfriend Leeteuk would never fail to monitor your performances.
but, it’s not like would comment on your skills or abilities.
it’s the small things like, how you gaze at the cast in some scenes, or like your hand motions when you do some actions.
he won’t criticise but would give you his feedbacks, which you appreciate most of the time.
also, it’s his thing to attend only the last performance.
“end it with a bang!” he says
and when he does, it’s grand. Him dressing to the nines, biggest flower wreath for you, packed dinner box for all the cast and crew.
however, will always send you an encouraging text each night of your performance.
your relationship with him was not low key at all. it was kinda hard to keep it on the DL at first but you were relieved when you two went official.
You two now go anywhere and everywhere without caring a bit of the cameras and papparazis.
ooh biggest supporter Kim Heechul!!
he would always say, “not bad,”, but then you see him going on his youtube live and showering you with endless compliments.
“I thought you said it was not bad?”
you would then see him smiling shyly scratching the back of his head shyly.
Heechul is a busy man, so it is expected that he would miss your performance often.
but, he always makes it up! Either by sending gifts to the whole cast, or a simple dinner when you come back home.
dates with Heechul are mostly Netflix and Chilling at home.
both of you being popular sometimes made it hard to go do normal couple things.
you mentioned once that you want to go picnic
lo and behold, Heechul prepared a picnic in his house. Set up fake grass, with a mat and picnic food.
constant harmless bicker but Heechul accommodates to you a lot. He probably would do everything for you
OKAY HE”S SWEET PLEASE!
Boyfriend Yesung would always go to your performances. You told him going once is enough but he insisted that you are too good to only watch once.
Every performance he goes, he is always bringing different people. He says he wants everyone to see you perform.
Yesterday was his brother, the other day was two of the members and tomorrow will be with his school friends.’
Always a single stalk of rose for you which he will give once he meets you backstage at the end.
as much as your relationship was publicised, Yesung rarely ever posts about you on his social media.
at first you thought it was because he was ashamed of you, but later you find out he didn’t want you to just be known as “Yesung Girlfriend” or get hate comments.
also, you two would travel a lot together. If it’s not to a new country, it would be a short drive to the neighbouring city.
you liked that because people don’t swarm the both of you. you have your privacy and it’s usually one or two people who recognise you.
also, both of you love going to record stores to find some hidden gems.
a lot of cafe dates! and also museum dates!
for some reason Shindong do not want to publicise the relationship.
he went through it once and he don’t want you to go through the hate or scrutiny especially not when you are the country’s best musical actress.
Shindong is very careful. At first it kind of frustrates you but you slowly got to understand where he is coming from and to be quite honest, you like keeping it low key.
Dates with him are usually evening drives, watching movies in a less crowded theatre or walks at his nearby parks.
But, mostly chilling in his each other house.
No fancy public gestures, no surprise or anything on your performance day.
But, he will attend at least once, at least with his group of friends to not make it obvious.
Come the end of the performance, you went to his home to relax and wind down.
You entered to his house decorated, with balloons and music and stuff, with CONGRATULATIONS hanging off the wall.
He took your hands and made you sit.
Shindong would play the video he secretly took of you performing, you practicing in his house.
You know he feels apologetic.
“I love it,” you would say as you softly caress his cheeks.
shut up our favourite dumpling is married to an actual musical actress!!
so cute okay!! please!!
Sungmin would be the most supportive person ever okay! Making time to see his wife before she starts performing!
Always sending her words of encouragement!
If he can attend, he would in a heartbeat. But when he can’t he would send you a text to ease her nerves!
He would definitely post on his social media about her performances night.
Going on YT live together, doing fun tiktoks together, featuring on each other channel!
Just cute married couple things okay?
A lot of dates at home because our resident married couple gets tired easily!
Eunhyuk appreciates musical but even more so after dating you.
He admires the effort and hours of practice you do every single day.
You would say, “babe, it’s the same for you?”
“Nah, I just dance. You belt out all your high notes like you’re talking!”
You would often shake your head and he would always like gently pull your closer using his arms and kiss the top of your head.
Man would attend your first performance, sitting first row. Doesn’t matter if he’s alone or with his members.
When you would make eye contact with him, he would put out a small wave so as to not distract you.
Somehow, this always makes you more confident. Like a boost of adrenaline.
your relationship with him was mostly “accepted” by the general public and his fans.
in fact, his fans would sometimes do an ad for your performance or even like send your cast and crew gifts.
likewise, your fans would sometimes send a coffee truck to his concert.
Dates with him were more free. Shopping dates, food dates. Basically normal couple dates.
But, every date must have a slot for the both of you to eat ice cream because both you loves ice cream too much.
sometimes, you two would go to the park, get a tub of ice cream from a convenience store and people watch as you dig in to your tub.
Hae is the biggest fool for you to be honest
like everything you do is beautiful to him. Your smile, the way you smile, when you sing, when you focus on your script.
He just loves everything about you OKAY
your biggest supporter! He would always post your performance on his social medias, telling his fans and followers to go support you!
He just loves tagging you, in the most random meme, edits of the both of you made by yours or his fans.
Donghae would never miss your performance. He goes to any night available if he’s free.
The one time he couldn’t was when the group toured South America.
Facetiming you to send you his words of encouragement and support! He would also ask his brother to send you a flower wreath on his behalf.
Donghae enjoys going out with you. Whether it’s to run errands or exploring new food, or even going to museums.
His camera roll would be filled with his secret recordings of your perfomances or your candid photos he couldn’t bare to delete.
siwon is your #1 fan without a doubt!
siwon wouldn’t show his support publicly but he motivates you to be the best musical actress you can be.
“what is one challenge yo want to embark as a musical actress?”, he would ask one day randomly.
It took you a while to give him an answer.
you eventually did
“I want to be at the top of my game. I want to perform at Broadway and have the public acknowledge my hard work”
He looks at you, only amazed and respect.
and that has become your goal since then. you were thankful for siwon for helping you realise your directions.
Siwon would usually attend at least one of your performances because #1 fanboy.
When he couldn’t he would make sure he calls you and cheers you on.
Siwon loves going on dates with you.
Sometimes, it’s exciting dates like a theme park or disco roller skating. Other times, it’s cultural appreciation dates. Occasionally, quiet chill dates at each other’s houses with books of your choice and coffee.
definitely each other support system!
somehow, loves taking selfies with you!
“for memories,” he would always say.
being an established musical actor himself, Ryeowook would always ask you to monitor him.
More so than he monitors you.
Ryeowook would want like one feedback from you after each performance you attended.
It’s always things like “maybe you can vibrate your notes at the end?”, “keep your hand motion smooth?”
He takes your feedback seriously and he respects you.
Wook also likes the fact that he don’t have to keep his relationship private.
Would also attend your performances and like standing ovation each time, even if he is doing it alone.
But, he does keep it low key. Only ever mentioning you vaguely in his vlogs.
with him, it never felt like you are dating a celebrity. likewise for wook. And he absolutely loved that feeling.
It makes going out with you easier.
He absolutely loves going on walks with you. You were sure you went to more parks than you ever did your entire life.
Dates with him are mostly at Incheon because he likes to show you the places he grew up in.
You absolutely love going on coffee runs with him. You enjoy just grabbing coffee and sitting with him as you talk about your lives.
in private, both of you love drinking. It’s like a thing for the both of you if both of you do not have schedule.
also, a private duet when you are your house. Him playing the piano and harmonising as you sing.
power couple OKAY?!?!
Top musical actress and idol turned musical actor was sure to get people talking.
it did!
but it was a lot of positive reactions and endless support.
so much so that the public and fans wants the both of you to star in one musical together.
when it happened, tickets were immediately sold out. They had to extend more slots.
Ads and news of the two of you were everywhere!!
Both your fans were always sending gifts to the cast and crew, and there were always endless flower wreaths on your performing nights.
Despite the blow up in support, Kyuhyun and you were still wary. You realised that one wrong move could backfire the two of you and the support you two have been receiving.
wary or not, the two of you still go on dates, sometimes public sometimes private. Mostly private.
You like going on escape room dates or the movies or finding the best tteokbokki with him, but you also like cooking said tteokbokki and eating with him at the comfort of your own homes.

Super Junior Reacts to Having a Game Night with You
Requested by @heart-bleeding-autism-angel
A/N: I hope you like it. I was so hoping for a SuJu request.
Jungsoo/Leeteuk-
Wanting to have a game night? A sweet concept. Wanting to have a game night with you? A sweeter concept. Inviting his members to join? A stupid decision really. His members were, in the most loving way possible, assholes. However, watching you play with them was funny.
“If you try to hide anymore money, Kyuhyun, I’m locking you outside.”
“HoW dId YoU eVeN sEe?”
Heechul-
Honestly, he couldn’t care less about the game. He’d rather be playing a different type of game with you, but you were insistent on keeping the night PG. He tried for PG-13, but after almost hitting him in the head with the Yahtzee cup, he relented.
“Ha! Yahtzee bitches!”
“Good job Jagi.”
Jonghoon/Yesung-
Maybe he should have agreed to Monopoly. But he knew that would have been a train wreck. However, poker wasn’t going any better. Not only were you surprisingly good at it, you kept using the fact you knew him so well to swindle him out of his good hands. He definitely needed you to teach him some tricks.
“How does losing feel? I wouldn’t know.”
“I love you too Jagi.”
Donghee/Shindong-
You challenged the main dancer of Super Junior to a game of Just Dance? What were you thinking? There’s a whole MV of him slaying the game! However, watching you lose by mere points made his other members laugh, and him chuckle.
“Pick another song!”
“Babe, we’ve already done ten.”
Hyukjae/Eunhyuk-
You two were ridiculous. You were going against each other hard. You stared at each other, eyes hyper-focused. Everyone around you was watching as you glared at each other. How had game-night become so intense? That’s a story too long for this reaction.
“Bingo!”
“Lies!”
Siwon-
He’s so sweet and such a good sport. He’d congratulate you every time you won. And if you lost, he assured you victory next time. He’d be more into watching you play than trying to go against his members, or worse, you.
“Oh yeah. Third time in a row.”
“You’re doing amazing Jagiya.”
Donghae-
Another sweetie. He’d play with you, making cute eyes at you and not really paying attention to the game. He’d be completely enamored with your concentrated power of will look. He’d barely answer his bandmates questions, leaning over to pinch your cheeks.
“Donghae, it’s your turn.”
“Go fish.”
Ryeowook-
He loves you to death, but he loves winning more. When the game starts, all personal feelings are out the window. It doesn’t matter how long you’ve been together, all that matters is winning. And he will win.
“Sorry toots, you lose.”
“How could you Jagi?!”
Kyuhyun-
You both got weirdly into it and what was once fun has turned into a hot mess. You two are bickering because you think the other one is cheating. It turns into a full on interrogation. The others are about two more comments from kicking you two out of the game.
“Just admit you cheated!”
“It’s the Game of Life! You can’t cheat!”

first date - shindong
genre: fluff
wc: 413
request: Can I request how Shindong would ask you out and what a first date would consist of? It could be in an imagine or headcannon form, whatever you feel most comfortable writing.
[ sorry if it’s too short, hope you like it anon ! ]
You smiled at the camera making any pose you could think of. Your date chuckled with heart eyes taking pictures, making you laugh and drop down the inner model in you.
“What?” you giggled.
“You’re cute,” Donghee comented with a smile on his face. He checked the camera under your gaze in the other side of the table.
“Thank you,” you said, feeling your cheeks heating up. “Can I see?”
He nodded and showed the pictures on his camera one by one. The all looked beautiful and so professional. If you didn’t work together you would be surprised for sure of his amazing skills.
“I like this one,” you smiled checking the last picture.
“You were very natural for that one.”
“Was I?”
“You started to giggling, but it’s better,” he said softly. “Because it’s just how you are.”
Looking away you felt your cheeks blushing again and he put the camera back on his bag as the order arrived. You began to eat your food in the small coffee shop, talking about anything from time to time.
At first you thought it would be weird since you were good friends, but found out he was also a good guy - and a funny one. You were kind of used to Donghee and his personality but this was something different, more intimate if you could say.
Jokes were a good start for both of you to try and open up about your likings and your life, even if it was only a first date. This wasn’t work but you sometimes felt like it was though, only to keep calm and not being a clumsy mess.
Both of you walked out of the store after some time. You needed to buy some stuff for work so he agreed to go with you.
“Look, an arcade! Let's go and play something!” you said dragging him to the place. You knew he liked arcades.
You started playing basketball, filled with laughs and silly jokes, and for your surprise he won the first two times.
“You’re very good with this,” you commented smiling and cheering to him. “What about a bet?”
You noticed how he got a little shy.
“What do you suggest?”
“If I win you buy me a dessert...”
“Fine, if I win we have a second date... Can we?” Donghee blushed a little.
You gave a smile and a nod, you never thought he could be cute.
“Of course.”
He was full of surprises.

Kinktober Day 5 (10/05/2019)
Kink - Mechanophilia (Sexual arousal caused by machines), Bonus light impregnation kink
"I don't think we should take the contact."
The 10 guys of NCT Chop shop were in a sticky situation. An offical letter from SJ industries offered the boys 1,000 dollars each if they allowed the company to take over their workshop, the one place that they've felt free enough to be themselves and work on their projects.
"Where would we go?" Taeil asked the group, all with unsure grimaces on their faces.
"With 10,000 grand, we should be able to find a cheap enough place that we can work from, possibly in a better neighborhood and that could mean more rich clientele," Jungwoo spoke up, looking the letter over.
"We should at least try to talk them up to two grand a piece," Doyoung took the letter from the younger boy, reading one sentence out loud, "right here, it says 'We will stop by tomorrow,' meaning today, 'to talk about any problems and possible solutions.' We could talk to them then."
"But we still need to come to a consensus, take the money or not?" Taeyong, their democratically appointed leader, looked at the 9 other members, "all for one and one for all, remember?"
A knock at the large door shocked the boys, Yuta going over to open it, 3 tall men and a girl around their age on the other side.
"Hello," a man in a gray suit with the nametag 'Leeteuk' looked the group up and down, "you must be the gentlemen who work here. Is there a manager?"
"I guess that would be me?" Taeyong walked towards him, sticking his hand out, "I'm Taeyong, pleasure to meet you, sir."
"Likewise," Leeteuk shook Taeyong's hand, wiping his hand on his pants as Taeyong gestured the others to come inside, "this is Shindong and Heechul, and my secretary, Y/N."
The group bowed, Y/N keeping her eye on the tall boy whose coveralls were embroidered with "Johnny" in red thread on the left side of his chest.
"Now," Leeteuk threw his suitcase at Y/N, the girl catching and holding it to her side, "I assume you boys are willing to take the offer? I mean, judging on how this place works, you could use the money."
"Wel-"
Taeil was cut off by Leeteuk, "Don't tell me you're thinking about not taking the offern? 10,000 for you must be a lot."
"It is," Taeyong hid the disgust on his face for the cocky male, "but this is also our home, we've been here for years, some of us have even stayed here when we had nowhere else to go. One grand a piece isn't enough to make us part with this place."
"How about we talk about this?" Leeteuk threw his hands in a smug manner, "Shindong, Heechul, go with the others while I talk to Mr. Taeyong."
"What do yo-"
"Oh, that's right, Y/N is here too," Leeteuk looked at the group, "Lanky boy, what's your name?"
"I can tell you it's not Lanky Boy," Johnny looked up, displaying his name on his clothes, "I assume you can read, seeing as you are a huge CEO?"
Y/N and Johnny's nine friends started laughing, Leeteuk whipping his head around to give an annoyed stare at his secretary, the girl immediately halting all actions and staring at the floor. Leeteuk threw his hand over the shoulder of Taeyong as the tourgroups began to break off, Johnny and Y/N shaking each other's hands.
"Taeyong my boy, let's go talk," Leeteuk practically dragged Taeyong away from his friends, the leader looking at the other mechanics with a concerned look on his face.
"Is he always like that?" Johnny asked Y/N, the boy picking up a rag and wiping some grease off his face.
"Do you always keep those googles on?" Johnny touched his face at Y/N's comment, playfully rolling his eyes.
"They're stylish, but back to that Lettuce dude."
"It's Leeteuk and You'd be surprised how kind he can actually be when he's not talking about business," Y/N scoffed, looking around the huge area, machines, wood and metal decorating the space.
"Ah," a simple word out of Johnny's mouth as he notices Y/N's interest, "would you like to take a look around? None of the tools are plugged in, so no Final Destination deaths here."
Y/N awkwardly chuckled at the sight of the handsome boy, "umm, yeah, sure."
"We call this Ellie," Johnny pointed to a big machine, picking up a giant tube, "she helps us clean up faster, sucking up all the dust and dirt."
Y/N smiled and nodded along, watching Johnny excitedly go from machine to machine.
"Here we have a wood splitter, nothing fancy, just sort of does what its name says it does," Johnny gestured to a small room inside the workspace, "we call this the tool prison, drills, hammers, nails, screws, you name it, it's in there."
Johnny pulled out a chainsaw, pretending to rev it up as Y/N jumped back, still quiet so she won't interrupt Johnny's excitement.
"I call this Betsy, she's been my tool since day 1," Johnny showed Y/N the carved out name in the side of his chainsaw, "she's a bit old, but still works."
"How did you get into mechanics and tools?" Y/N walked over to a table, a nailgun, a drill and some screws scattered on the top.
"They're sexy," a laugh from Y/N causing Johnny to make fingers gun, "but seriously, Taeyong and Taeil needed someone else to help them with their projects and I was in the same woodshop class with them a few years ago."
Y/N walked around, exploring the shop, "do you want to continue giving me the tour?"
"Sure, why not? This is a table saw, one of my friends actually almost got injured real bad by this one," Johnny started fucking with the machine, spinning the sawblade as Y/N visibly freaked out while Johnny played with the sharp tool, "she was using this tool for a show that her class was putting on, one of the triangles she was cutting had a nail or staple in it and it shut out, narrowly missing her."
"Ohmygod, is she okay?" Y/N cringed at the story, Johnny putting the safety cover back on the machine, smirking at Y/N.
"Yeah, she's fine," Johnny put his arm up, hand hidden in his sleeve, spooking Y/N, "she just has to live with one hand!"
Y/N gently smiled, continuing to look around as Johnny watches her walk around, noticing her skirt keeps raising up, the girl having to pull it down every few steps.
"Why do you work for that Leek Dance dude?" Johnny sat next to the table saw, keeping his eyes on Y/N, "like he's such a douche."
"He's my stepbrother's friend," Y/N walked over to Johnny, "the one with the pinkish hair? Heechul? He's my stepbrother and one of Leeteuk's best friends. Leeteuk offered him a job and said he would only take it if I could have an internship."
Johnny nods, swinging his legs, "an internship? That's it? Do you get paid?"
"Yeah," Y/N shrugs, standing a few feet in front of Johnny, "but it goes to Heechul for the most part. Leeteuk says 'it's for the best until Y/N can learn to control her money,' even though, you know, I'm able to do so."
As Johnny started to speak, Y/N cut him off.
"You asked me a question, I get one."
"Ok, alright. What do you want to know?"
"What's your favorite machine?"
"Does Betsy count," Johnny jumped down from the table, his googles now around his neck, Y/N shaking her head, "alright. I guess it'll have to be the table saw, come here and I'll show you a better view."
Y/N walked over to the table saw, Johnny caging her in as he showed her the unplugged cable.
"Just so no one gets their face mauled, you make sure this is never in the wall unless there is a piece of wood under it," Johnny lays the cord next to the saw, gently grabbing Y/N's hand and placing it on one of the handles and placing the other on a button, "this right here is to move it left and right. Go ahead, push the button and try it."
Y/N pressed the orange button, maneuvering the power tool, Johnny placing his hand on top of hers as he lifted up the safety cover.
"Remember, it's unplugged, so it's not going to hurt you," Johnny repositioned himself in a more comfortable position, his chest flushed to Y/N's back, the secretary feeling her body heating up at the mechanic's proximity.
Johnny watched Y/N's hands roam over the machinery, her nails tracing each curve, Johnny feeling his pants tighten as he imagines her hands on his body, tugging at his hair and pulling on hi-
"Umm," Y/N turned around, looking down at Johnny's bulge that became prominent, Johnny stammering, "I guess you were right about machines being sexy."
Johnny barely opened his mouth, Y/N using his own words against him, the pair moving impossibly close to each other as they begun to heavily make out. Y/N took off her coat, throwing it to the side, and Johnny throwing the googles around his neck along with it.
Johnny helped the girl on the metal table, the table saw right next to her, pulling her shirt above her breasts as he immediately begun to suck on one of her nipples. Y/N's hands found their way to Johnny's hair, running them through his greasy, but soft locks.
Pulling away, Johnny unzipped his coverall, pulling his cock out his boxers, bringing Y/N in for a kiss, teasing her by rubbing his cock up and down along her covered core.
"Would you like prot-"
"I'm on birth control, just fuck me," Y/N shimmied her skirt further up, the fabric looking more like a belt, allowing her to spread her legs more, a wet spot growing in the middle of her underwear.
Johnny leaned down to kiss up Y/N's body before pulling her panties to the side, guiding his cock, pushing into Y/N. His hands immediately went up Y/N's body to play with her nipples, Johnny nuzzling into Y/N's neck.
"I'm gonna fill you up with my cum," Johnny nipped Y/N's neck, thrusting into her as she held a hand over her mouth, not wanting to be caught, "barely know you, but I'm gonna make you mine."
Y/N moved her arm to lean herself up, accidentally knocking a belt sander to the floor.
"Thing was a piece of shit anyway," Johnny helped her, holding her close to his chest, Y/N scratching down his back, "next time I see you, maybe I can eat you out in the tool closet, fuck you up the ass on the wood splitter, would you like that?"
"Yes, Johnny," Y/N moaned out the mechanic's name, her forehead slick against his chest, his pounding into her not stopping, "fuck me all over the place."
"Have you sit on the table while that shitty belt sander vibrates the whole table," Johnny nipped on Y/N's ear, bucking his hips at an angle that made Y/N's high start to creep up, "maybe do it in front of your boss, piss him off."
Y/N whimpered in Johnny's arms, the feeling in her gut twisting as he continued to whisper the dirtiest things she's heard.
Y/N hadn't noticed she came until Johnny pulled her even closer.
"Good girl," Johnny looked at her, his forehead sweaty and his eyes half opened, "now you're gonna be even better and take my cum."
Johnny thrusted a few more times, Y/N sensitive in his arms, his cum seeping out of his sudden lover. He stayed in her, grabbing a cloth from his back pocket and wiping her forehead. A moment passed before Y/N broke the tension, Johnny's hand caressing her back.
"Normally, you're supposed to turn machines on, not the other way around." Johnny laughed, pulling out of Y/N and pulling down her panties, putting them in his pocket as he fixed her skirt.
"You want these back? Make a date with me," Johnny smiled as Y/N nodded, hopping off the table just as the group came back.
"So, we have a deal, Mr. Leeteuk?" Taeyong smiled triumphantly while Leeteuk shook his hand, "2 grand a piece, we keep this area and teach a class every week?"
"Yes," Leeteuk grimaced, staring at Y/N in Johnny's arms, her legs wobbling a bit, "what's wrong with you?"
"She tripped," Johnny held onto Y/N's waist, "she accidentally tripped over the belt sander that Haechan left out."
Haechan looked down at his feet, Leeteuk looking for any sign of something in her eyes. When he couldn't find any, he straightened his suit jacket.
"Ok, it was a pleasure to meet you gentlemen, this is going to be a fine partnership."
Handshakes were had all around, Johnny walking up to Y/N, taking his phone out and handing it to her. Y/N typed in her phone number, texting her number so she could have Johnny's. Leeteuk called after Y/N, the girl walking as poised as she could. After the gate closed, Johnny's phone vibrated, the text bringing a big smile on his face.
That wood splitter idea sounds fun ;)

Delicious Rendezvous Chapter 3
WORD COUNT: 4151
WARNINGS: cursing, an attack of sorts (no bloodshed), thinly veiled protectiveness
DELICIOUS RENDEZVOUS
Chapter 3
“There,” Heechul told you, panting. “It is done.” He pulled away to lay beside you. For him having a cold touch, you still immediately missed what warmth he brought. The sensation of the spell spreading the rest of the way through you was half pins and needles, half a deep sort of pleasure that defied explanation or words, running up your spine. He turned on his side, one elbow bent, chin resting on his head. “I’m going to be quite busy - frankly, I’ve already taken a lot of time out of my day for you.”
His nonchalance came as a surprise after the intimacy he’d just shown. “You could be nice for one second,” you mumbled, the afterglow quickly fading, but he was apparently determined to ignore any and all feelings, including yours. You shook your head to hide your face and the look of disappointment.
“I’ll figure out a training schedule for you tomorrow. For now, go make friends and get some food. Order what you like.” He smiled as though he’d handed you the keys to the club. “I’ll let them know to expect you.” Heechul continued to make himself presentable when he added, “I didn’t take much blood, but you still need to replenish what was lost. Let Shindong know what you want at the bar and he’ll relay it from there.”
“...Wait, huh?”
Heechul let out a put-upon sigh. How were you supposed to learn anything from him, let alone stick around for the next three months? Was he really going to be able to help you? You rolled your eyes.
“Look, I thought you were pretty good at talking to strangers, but maybe I was wrong.” He huffed out a little almost-laugh through his nose. “Just start with,” he gestures with his chin towards the door, “Ryeowook’s little boyfriend, the kid at the piano. He should be wrapping up soon. He loves to eat and he’s a blank, so you aren’t in any danger from him and you won’t be alone for now.”
Your eyes widened, “Am I in danger from anyone else?”
Heechul raised his eyebrows once. “That depends on you, doesn’t it.” His grin is wide and knowing, one eyebrow cocked up. While you gaped as such an unhelpful response, he levitated himself to standing, summoned his pants and slipped his lean legs back into them. Though you couldn’t help but watch the movement of muscles beneath the skin for a moment, you were determined to not make a habit of it, forcing your eyes away.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Nice to meet you!” Henry shook your hand enthusiastically, already a weird start. He didn’t look old enough to be in a bar in the first place, which the rosy tint perpetually blooming on his pale cheeks didn’t help. After the ritual, though, you probably didn’t look any better, so it was nice of him to not comment on that.
“Um, I was told Ryeowook-”
“Oh, yeah! He got me this job.” He looked over in the direction of the stage and back, though not before you caught the gleam in his eye, a particular one that left you aching with longing. Adoration couldn’t be written more plainly on his face. “It works out really well, you know? I didn’t actually know what I was going to do with my degree.”
“That’s really good.” You feigned politeness just long enough to ask the question you really wanted the answer to, leaning forward to speak more quietly. “How is it here really, though? Do they treat you well?”
“Yeah, everyone’s so nice here!” He beamed. “When Ryeowookie is busy,” the gleam of affection cropped up faintly again before fading, “Donghae makes sure I get lots to eat. My visa got processed so much faster here than my school one, and I got direct deposit since my first check. It’s great!” With a cute tilt of his head, he added, “I’m glad no one minds that I don’t really drink. I get all itchy. But Heechul’s never had a problem with it.” Sticking his hands into his pockets, he frowned. “To be honest, the only thing I’m worried about is that Ryeowook never eats breakfast. But everyone’s different, right?” He concluded his rambling with an easy, friendly smile, shrugging his shoulders, then rocking on his heels.
“...Right.” In your mind's eye, you could see clearly what Ryeowook would look like with his wings and claws out. And that the butler was actually over by the entrance to the club, his shoulders subtly widening and narrowing over and over again, his hair growing longer and then shorter. You realize what wasn't said. That made you mad as hell! Oh my god, you thought, this kid doesn’t know anything, does he. Heechul is a bastard.
Too bad you still needed his help.
“Oh yeah, you just got here, so you don’t know where anything is, huh.” Henry’s words drew your attention back to him and away from your thoughts of Heechul. “Come on, let me show you the break room.”
As the two of you made your way past the bar, Shindong came in from the back, carrying a nondescript box. He pointed at you, then immediately, his hair shot up and back as if by a gust of wind. His confused expression was so comically exaggerated that you couldn't help but laugh.
He patted it back down into place, looking confounded, then went on his way as if nothing happened without so much as a wave.
“He’s a weird one.”
Henry held his finger up to his lips, eyes that told you to be quiet. “Don’t let him hear you say that.” The rosy-cheeked man looked around, as though he was worried Shindong was watching at that very moment. He stepped closer. “Man is insufferable, at times. Even moreso if he likes you. At least you got some form of interaction from him being it's only your first day here. Took me a week to get anything out of him.”
All you could manage was a quiet “hmm”. Henry resorted back to indifference as he made sure you were following him as he continued to guide you to the much-needed food. Something about Shindong was intimidating, despite the brief comedy routine, so you decided to come back to the issue of ordering food a little later, when you’d had a chance to gather some courage.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Once he’d taken a bite off the corner of one sandwich, Henry exclaimed, “Alriiiiight! He remembered to salt them more this time like I asked.” Handing out the egg sandwiches, cut in two halves to form neat triangles, he added, “You’d think it wouldn’t need it when the bread has garlic butter on it, but there’s a lot of egg, you know?” One was placed in front of Donghae, and another in front of you.
“Oh, uh, thanks.” This only left you more determined to put off figuring out Heechul’s food. The kitchen you’d passed on the way was loud and looked extremely busy, so it just felt weird to add to that. And you hadn’t seen a menu anywhere, either...
“No problem! Ryeowook always makes extra anyway. I think he gets worried when our schedules don’t line up to eat together.”
Both men sharing the small round table with you stuffed practically a whole triangle in their mouths at once. You couldn’t help but giggle. “Oh, is he going to be on stage for a while?” You asked, trying to keep the conversation going. It was a fair trade - garlic butter was such a simple indulgence, yet oh so worthwhile. Had you missing home, all of a sudden... Missing it so bad that you couldn't bear to think about it.
The conversation turned out to be a welcome interruption.
“Nope,” Henry said, only half succeeding at covering his mouth. “That part's done for today. He’s got backstage appointments to get to.”
“...Technical work? I didn’t know he did both.”
He only stared at you for a moment. “No,” he said slowly, “backstage work.” Left utterly confused, you looked back and forth between them until Donghae’s lascivious smirk got the meaning across.
It slowly dawned on you that it was a euphemism, not to mention what was going on behind all those closed doors. “Oh.” Your eyes widened so much they nearly fell out of your head, and you had to force your mouth closed, because you were something like a guest here and it’s not polite, right? What if it seemed insulting or condescending, the longer you looked scandalized? You could feel your cheeks heat further at that thought, even if that had seemed impossible with how they’d burned immediately after Donghae’s hint got through. “Oh! Right. I see.” Well, you’d really rather not, but it appeared the rumors were true after all. Staring at the plastic container was the closest you could get to meeting anyone’s eyes for a little while after that kind of revelation. “That doesn’t bother you?”
But Henry only shrugged. “Nope.” He offered no details whatsoever. That was that; he and Donghae proceeded to bicker over who had to eat the carrot sticks hiding underneath the stack of sandwiches. (Donghae insisted that demons don’t eat carrots, which Henry reluctantly accepted, though not without a heaping spoonful of skepticism.)
The three of you chatted amiably for a few minutes between eating. That calmed you down enough to see about asking for a menu after all, making your way through the same corridor from earlier, the one with the framed drawings of urban wildlife with inspirational slogans under each one. You were pretty sure the kitchen was back this way-
Whatever just took you off your feet meant business. Your eyes opened to find the ceiling above you and the cool marble tile beneath your back. You sucked a deep breath in all while moving your hands and feet to make sure everything still worked correctly. What drew you out of your self-inspection was the groaning coming from a few feet away. The strange yet beautiful man from earlier was bent over with his hands braced on his knees. He looked wobbly, maybe just as hurt as you were.
Laying back and being still just made more sense at that moment. You closed your eyes as the back of your head met the ground
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
He sensed the spell and honed in on it to take him there.
Of course, he’d already been attuned to security alerts for defensive spells. From his alcove, Heechul had watched as his apprentice stumbled back and fell, at the same time that the reflective force flung Sungmin just as far back. Luckily, the incubus had reflexively done one of those martial arts rolls, but now leaned heavily against the hallway wall where he was sitting slumped against it, his eyes glazed, one small hand pressed to his own cheek and temple.
While Henry ran over to him, Heechul shot a faint blue spark from his fingertips.
“You know being teleported makes me dizzy,” Jongwoon grumbled at Heechul in the next instant, but quickly softened when he spotted his patient. Dropping onto one knee next to her, resting his forearm on the other, he leaned forward the slightest bit. “Hey there. Can you tell me what’s wrong?” He asked in a soft, husky voice.
“M’dizzy,” she mumbled, “and I fell.”
Jongwoon turned to the vampire, already back to looking annoyed. “Did you set your shield to let healing through?”
“Of course I did,” Heechul scoffed.
“Then open up pain relief as well.”
Feeling a bit sheepish when he realized that that type was indeed still blocked, Heechul did just that, drawing a quick symbol on his palm with his fingertip. Admittedly, he hadn’t cast this sort of protection in quite a long time, and the last time... That wasn’t sexual in the least. So he’d asked Shindong to set up tests for it, making sure his friend wouldn’t tell him when or how. It was a mercy that he didn’t have to specify to not hurt her; the risk was too great, and the very thought stabbed fear through his heart.
An invisible anodyne cloud sprung up around Jongwoon, a sort of magic dandelion the doctor himself had developed. Caught in its radius, the ever-present ache in Heechul’s wrist dialed down to a faint hum.
The pained grooves marring her forehead eased at once, too.
She was in good hands. Heechul knew this, knew it with the knowledge of many decades, so he turned to check on Sungmin, but... It was more difficult to do so than he’d imagined. No matter how much he tried to make his eyes focus forward, he itched to do otherwise.
Worriedly looking back over at her, Heechul nonetheless made himself turn away once more to attend to Sungmin, where Henry was already murmuring to him while pressing the back of his hand to the incubus’ forehead. Logically, Heechul knew Sungmin must've gotten the brunt of it, but-
That was all he’d allow himself. He shook himself back into action. Heechul motioned Henry away with a small gesture of his head. The young, bright eyed man wanted to stick around and help, but Heechul’s eyes insisted, mouthing ‘thank you’. Henry, ever shocked by the silent but kind motion, nonetheless complied. He turned his sights back to the scene he’d turned away from. "You did a great job, Sungmin. We got the test data we needed." Sungmin nodded gingerly, only grimacing. "Thank you for helping again. Donghae should be back near the bar by now, or soon, that'll be kicking up some lust. Go soak that up until your head settles, then lie down for at least five minutes, alright? I'll send the doctor to check you over when he's done here."
"Yes, boss," Sungmin said, slowly standing up, one hand on a nearby wall the whole way up. Heechul lent his arm for support, only remembering to call out when Sungmin had made it a couple of feet away on his own, "And drink some water!" Sungmin merely threw up a thumbs up over his shoulder as he cautiously walked away.
Setting that aside, he hurried over to her. To his apprentice. That's all, he told himself. Just someone who needs my help. The shield held beautifully, though nothing could beat real world experience to be sure. Since every scan and both tests came up well...
Mostly well, he realized, watching Jongwoon shine a small light into her eyes, then asking her to follow his finger. Fuck, the stun shouldn’t have gotten through that strongly. That meant there were cracks, and right now... He didn’t know how to fix those.
There were no shortcuts. He couldn’t help but get close enough to squeeze her hand, needing to touch her even if only fleetingly, to feel that she’s alright, then immediately left to do a field reset on the room he’d set aside to start her training. She would need so much more than just this. No telling how soon she’d have to be able to protect herself.
Not for the first time, Heechul lamented that he couldn’t be in two places at once.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hardly a minute or two later, belly full and mildly nauseous after whatever that stunt was, you felt a caress brush against the confines of your mind. It drew you in, past this door, that way down the hall, into a quiet carpeted room that contained only Heechul. His trademark smirk sat easy across his mouth.
“So you’ve properly met at least one of my kids now.”
“I did,” you said tartly, recalling what you’d realized, “and-”
“Hold on.” Holding one hand up, he stopped you with merely two words; you hated that you were going along with it. “If you’re looking to chew me out some more, save it for another time. Training requires dedication and concentration.”
“...Fine. But it’s only a delay.”
“Good enough,” he said, rolling his head side to side. “So, he’s a sweet kid, right?”
“Henry? Yeah...”
With that admission, Heechul’s smile turned genial. “Good. You have some basic sense.”
“Oh, so you get to insult me during training? What’s wrong, you can dish it out but you can’t take it?”
Though he rolled his eyes, his smile grew wider, too. “Some fires are unquenchable. We’ll work it out as we go. Now. Follow me. Deep breath in, then let it out slowly.”
Reluctantly, you did as he said, putting all other concerns into a box and setting it aside in your mind’s eye. “Okay, now what?”
He raised one eyebrow. “You really will have to learn some patience. Not an insult, darling!” He added with a laugh. “A simple fact required to progress.”
“Hmph.” You crossed your arms. Realizing how petulant that looked, though, you forced yourself to let them hang loose at your side instead. “I suppose. If you learn some manners.”
“Fair’s fair,” he answered with a shrug. “Now, back to the kid. Only pull up the image of him if it helps you; the essential part is whatever feeling of connection you can find. This works the same way an address on a building does.” He blinked slowly, tilting his head back, then forward again. “You feel it?”
The thread may have been thin, but you were able to strengthen it by kind of... latching onto Heechul’s connection as well. Were you supposed to do that? Who knows, but it felt like it was working. “Yes,” you answered distantly, almost having forgotten that you were asked a question at all.
“Good. Now imbue it with your magic.”
For some reason, this step scared you. Was it safe? Would it hurt anything? What if once you did it, that little bit was gone for good...
“You’re panicking.” But you weren’t- Oh, Heechul was right. Your breathing had gotten heavier, shallower, too quick. Before you’d noticed, he stepped closer, one fingertip tilting your chin up. “What is it?”
“I don’t wanna let it go!” You blurted out. Immediately, Heechul’s hand smoothed over your hair.
“It’s alright,” he said more gently than you’d thought possible of him. “You’ve done it before, and it’s always filled back up. You just didn’t know you were doing it.” But he stepped back, screwing up the corner of his mouth, and that also frightened you. You wanted his reassurance back. “This will be the only exercise for today. We’ll start you on foundational material next time.”
“Did I mess it up?” You croaked.
“No, everything’s alright,” he assured you, still in that too-gentle voice. “Let’s just try one more time, okay? The well will refill. You’re just taking a drop from it. Deep breaths. Two, three, four. There we go.”
Slowly, the whole thing feeling embarrassingly elementary, you made your way back to being calm and levelheaded. “Okay, I did it.”
“You found it? Good, well done. We’ll continue tomorrow.” Before you, far too close, Heechul visibly swallowed, then pressed his face to your neck for a long moment, taking a deep breath and leaving you feeling immensely calmer, strangely enough. When he wrenched himself away, his eyes held a faint tint of red, something gleaming in his mouth as well. “Forgive me,” he said. “A moment of weakness.” He looked at you intensely, his nostrils flaring. “All creatures hunger.”
Then he whirled away. “Please do not think me evil for it.”
You desperately wished you could see his face when he said that, but in a blink, he was gone.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Kamau’s treatise on diplomacy and oratory is a must,” Heechul muttered to himself, flipping through the pages absently before adding to the pile on the table at the center of the room. “Oracles are known to be inherently weak in persuasion, and Zhang’s research on complementary domains proved it..." Back at the shelf, he ran his finger over the spines of an entire row, hoping it would jog his memory. “Damnit, who wrote that particularly clear natureweaving introductory text a century ago? I know I have it here somewhere, I just can’t remember their name.”
Familiar footsteps accompanied by a click on the floor sprang up behind him, so he didn’t feel the need to turn around. It wasn’t long before strong hands alighted on his shoulders, that familiar moon-topped cane gleaming where it leaned against one of the shelves.
“You’ve been in here for hours, Master,” Siwon murmured, clearly doing his level best to forcibly massage the tension out of Heechul’s body through his shoulders.
Probably true, but the leader wasn’t going to admit it. He allowed himself to hum low in his throat, turning into a closed-mouth groan, but no more. “Why aren’t you finalizing the quarterly ledger?”
But Siwon only chuckled. “The computing machines handle nearly everything in the modern era, Master. Did you forget again?”
“I still don’t like that whole expense,” Heechul muttered. “They’re just little boxes and they don’t show their work!”
Moving down his back, his right-hand man told him in a strangely indulgent tone, “I can audit them any time you’d like. You need only say the word.”
Heechul sighed. “No, don’t bother. There are much more important uses of your time.”
“Like this?” The other man joked, digging his thumbs into a knot at Heechul’s lower back.
“You very well know I meant getting ready for that raid that I sense coming sometime next week,” Heechul said archly. “See if,” god his head hurt just pulling the info, but raids were always hard on his kids, “the same one’s still in the 223 precinct to cut a deal.” However, when he felt the loss of those strong hands, he failed to hide his laughter when he complained, “I didn’t say to stop!”
“Very well, just another minute, then, shall I?”
His head drooping forward, Heechul muttered, “Whatever happened to ‘Yes, Master’?”, though the words had no bite to them.
Suddenly, hovering next to Heechul was a grid without lines, each one holding what looked to be a title and author. “How about an index instead?”
“What would I do without you?” Heechul whirled around, the index following to his right, to squeeze Siwon’s hand. “I guess it was worth saving you after all, if you’re going to make yourself useful.”
In front of him, Siwon beamed as though Heechul had said something far more affectionate. “You might even like me, too,” he lobbed playfully, squeezing back. “Also, Whitman’s parlor tricks book got into your pile again,” he added, pointing to the table with his chin.
“Ugh.” Heechul ran his hand through his hair. “Goddamned cursed fucking book. You see?” He picked it up, waving it around. “This is why I tell everyone to not get me presents. Not everyone can sense what’s been cast on them, so I get stuck with a useless book that tries to follow me around like a lost puppy. Prestidigitation? Hardly a step above distracting children with a marionette,” he huffed.
Siwon held his hands behind his back, but he was visibly suppressing laughter; Heechul never could prove where the wretched tome came from, but he had his suspicions. “Your evening appointment grows near, Master. Are you going to be in here much longer?”
Flipping through the index with only half his mind on it, Heechul did a locate on a symbolism book. He’d have to review that one first before adding it to the curriculum - not to mention, there was something waiting its turn to be shown to him that left him feeling that he’d need to have it fresh in his mind.
“Return to me in half an hour. I’ll be ready then, but I need you to handle the nightly security review in my stead.” The flash of fear in the other man’s eyes had its answering echo in Heechul’s chest, and he hated being powerless to assuage it.
“May... May I ask why?” Siwon sounded hesitant when he asked. If Heechul took in any more information, though, he’d be completely overloaded, and thus useless for meeting with the ingredient supply broker. Still, he knew that Siwon had never done a security review without him, and didn’t know how to reassure him about what it could mean. There was just... too much to do. And no way to know what kind of attack could be coming next.
Of course, if that fact became known to his staff, it would bring nothing but panic. Leaving Siwon entirely in the dark was not a viable option, however. If only the damned visions would be more specific!
Once more, Heechul sighed. “I need to be prepared while I know not for what I prepare. Don’t make a Cassandra of me for saying so, hmm? But I have a feeling,” he said, shelving the gag book while pointedly not looking at Siwon, “that our troubles are far from over.”
In Love | Part 1
If someone had said that to Jungsoo just a few months ago, he would have laughed a little. No, he would have laughed a lot. Falling in love with her? Not near likely.
Pairing: Park Jungsoo/Son Taeyeon
Warnings: Subtle references to depression, murder, and suicide, panic attacks
___
sunbaenim: a word used by a junior to refer to a senior in the industry
___
Jungsoo was in love.
It wasn’t a difficult thing, to fall in love with Son Taeyeon. If someone had said that to Jungsoo just a few months ago, he would have laughed a little. No, he would have laughed a lot. Falling in love with her? Not near likely.
It wasn’t like he hated her. He didn’t. But he did find that he had developed a rather profound dislike of Pandora’s leader during their time working together on Super Junior’s MAMACITA album.
When he’d heard that she was due to work with them, he – and the rest of the members, barring Heechul who was already good friends with her – had been amazed and thrilled. An opportunity to work with Son Taeyeon, someone who was considered a phenomenal and successful songwriter, composer, and producer, among other things, wasn’t something they had ever expected. Especially when their companies were two of the biggest in the industry, and it was a general consensus that they were in competition.
On the day of recording in the studio, meeting her first outside of broadcasts, Jungsoo had been ridiculously nervous. He couldn’t place why – maybe it was just the prospect of working with Son Taeyeon that had his nerves on edge and his palms feeling sweaty. She was going to be their producer for some of the album’s songs; there was some childish part of him that wanted to show her just how well Super Junior could do. And, just… the thought of seeing her outside of broadcasts, someone whom he was a massive fan of, was flustering.
Actually meeting her… that was a surprising, and disconcerting, experience. She wasn’t what he had expected at all, and not quite in a good way.
He’d heard all the rumors and seen the articles about her, yes. Some said she was nothing but a spoiled, demanding brat, the fame and success that her group had gotten since their debut going to her head. Others said she was frequently inappropriate, flirting with men left and right. There were still others that claimed that she was stuck-up, arrogant, rude, after all the praise she received about being talented and gorgeous and all the love she had from Pandora’s enormous fanbase.
And, well, she wasn’t arrogant or rude. She didn’t, not consciously, act like she was superior to them, nor did she make any inappropriate or suggestive comments that were unsuitable for business relationships. But Son Taeyeon seemed, if only internally, if only very slightly… smug. Jungsoo couldn’t pinpoint quite what it was about her that rubbed him the wrong way. Maybe it was the fact that she was detached and brisk when greeting the members. She smiled, shook hands, introduced herself and listened to introductions, but it was as if there was always a gap between her and the members, like she was holding herself aloof. Like, with all her accomplishments and all her talents and all her fame, she didn’t really want to completely open herself to people like them.
That was the closest he could come to explaining his dislike of her. Really, Jungsoo knew it wasn’t logical, no matter how much he tried to convince himself that it was, but the instant disapproval that he felt from first impression was undeniable. It wouldn’t go away, even after he tried to tell himself that he was being ridiculous, even when Taeyeon was responsive and courteous and, on top of it all, considerably charming to everyone.
And that distaste soured their interactions. Taeyeon caught on quickly; Jungsoo suspected from the first day of her working together with Super Junior, she was aware of his dislike. He couldn’t explain how he knew or why he was almost certain that she had noticed that he wasn’t too fond of her, but he just did.
It wasn’t like she really let it show that she knew. She was always unfailingly polite and relatively friendly with him, although by no means open, and that almost imperceptible air of superiority was always surrounding her. Still, they didn’t come into any sort of conflict, even if it wasn’t an uncommon occurrence that Leeteuk often found himself wondering how Heechul could be such close friends with someone like Taeyeon. He talked about her so fondly, like she was someone who matched just perfectly with him, and Leeteuk couldn’t see what about her fit so well with Heechul.
And it was even more confusing that it was clear that the rest of the members liked her. They liked her a lot. Youngwoon threw flirty comments a bit shamelessly, as usual, but Jungsoo often saw him and Taeyeon speaking together, laughing at each other’s words – he clearly liked her sense of humor. Shindong interacted with her more often than he usually did with people who worked with them, and seemed keen to get to know her – something he hardly ever did when it came to business partners. Sungmin was always friendly to everyone, but he seemed extra attentive whenever Taeyeon spoke, something like respect gleaming in his eyes when he looked at her. Hyukjae accommodated her with a schoolboy grin on his face, listening eagerly to her every word. He threw cheeky joke after cheeky joke, beamed when Taeyeon laughed at them. Donghae was shy at first (as he always was), seemingly a tad bit wary of approaching someone who was as imperious and bold as Taeyeon was on stage, but she quickly eased him out of it with her friendliness and soon, they were making natural conversation. Siwon, a natural with people, got along with her smoothly. Ryeowook and Kyuhyun’s sharp wit agreed instantly with hers, and the three of them soon hit it off, jokingly roasting the other members and each other.
There wasn’t a single person in the group that spoke badly of Taeyeon or seemed to sense that air of subtle cockiness that was always settled around her. When she was brought up outside of their working on the album, none of them ever had anything bad to say. “She’s down-to-earth. Easy to get along with.” “Heechul-hyung, I can see why the two of you are such good friends. She, miraculously, has the patience to deal with you.” “She’s so intense on stage, it’s kind of a surprise to see that she’s so laid-back usually. I like it, though.”
Jungsoo didn’t want to ruin the experience of working with her for them with his attitude, either, so he stayed quiet about his personal feelings and worked amiably enough with Taeyeon.
Then, a little over a week into her collaboration with Super Junior, the two of them had been left fairly secluded in the building after a business meeting. Jungsoo had been sitting at the now abandoned meeting table, reading over the notes he’d taken that day, when Taeyeon placed a coffee down next to him. He glanced up, not having heard her come in, then down at the cup. It was his favorite type of coffee.
“How did you know I liked this?” Jungsoo asked, struggling to mask the distaste in his voice. Something told him she hadn’t gotten him the coffee just to be nice or try to loosen things up between them.
“I just watch, sunbaenim,” she replied simply. She didn’t sit down.
Jungsoo was about to ask her what she was here for, but she opened her mouth and knocked him speechless for a second with her bluntness.
“You dislike me, don’t you?” Her stare on his face was steady and intent. She said it so matter-of-factly, like she knew it was absolutely true but also like it didn’t bother her in the slightest. Jungsoo suspected that it didn’t.
“Excuse me?” he very nearly sputtered, so taken off-guard by the complete straightforwardness with which she asked him that question.
Taeyeon took a sip of her coffee with infuriating casualness and gave him a small smile. There was no ill will in that smile, or any resentment at his apparently obvious dislike of her. At the same time, it wasn’t particularly friendly or seemed to be seeking to alleviate his negative feelings toward her.
“Frankly, sunbaenim, I don’t know why,” she continued, calm, “and I don’t particularly care. But we should agree to not let it interfere with work, don’t you think?”
Irritation flickered in Jungsoo’s chest again. Realistically, he knew there was no reason for it – Taeyeon, the disliked party, had come to him, the one who disliked her, to alleviate the tension between them as to prevent it from affecting their business relationship. If anything, he should respect how professional she was – but something about the way she spoke was irksome. It was that disinterested indifference, that relaxed casualness with which she was interacting with him – him, someone whom she knew disliked her. As if his dislike for her, and more than that, just dislike for her in general, was so completely inconsequential and beneath her scope of caring that she wasn’t at all nervous about speaking to people with those less-than-pleasant opinions of her – like himself.
Nothing at all seemed to faze her, and it was a serious contribution to her constant air of smugness.
Nevertheless, by all logic she was making a reasonable – maybe even expected – request.
“Of course,” Jungsoo grit out between his teeth, not looking at her.
“You could just say no.”
That made him look at her sharply. Jungsoo was sure his annoyance was now showing in his eyes, but Taeyeon met them without blinking. “I mean,” she said, “there’s clearly something else that’s keeping you irritated with me. Should we talk about it, sunbaenim?”
Jungsoo made himself take a breath. “That’s not necessary,” he said.
“I’m sorry if you think I’m being pushy, but I think it is.”
Exasperation began boiling over into fury. He was fast running out of patience with Taeyeon and her insistence on talking about the matter; if she could so clearly see that he obviously disliked her, couldn’t she just leave him alone?
“I can assure you that I know my own feelings better than you do,” Jungsoo replied, making one last effort to be cordial before he blew his top. At his response, Taeyeon regarded him intently, but not with interest – more with something that could only be described as professional curiosity.
“Alright then,” she said finally, but there was an undercurrent of doubt in her voice. “If you’re confident your feelings won’t put a damper on our work.”
Jungsoo didn’t know what about that was the final straw. Maybe it was because she was still doubting his words. Maybe it was just that she sounded so matter of fact. Maybe it was that he was tired and sleep-deprived and worried sick and constantly swamped with thoughts about his father and his grandparents and – and didn’t want to deal with her demeanor of superiority anymore. Whatever it was, he stood up sharply.
“You are possibly the most arrogant person I’ve ever had the displeasure of dealing with,” Jungsoo snapped, turning so the two of them stood facing each other. He was considerably taller and she had to tilt her chin upwards to look him in the eyes – something that, as exhaustingly, irritatingly expected as it was, didn’t seem to bother Taeyeon in even the slightest. She arched her eyebrows, and a flicker of annoyed amusement crossed over her face.
“I think I’ve been polite enough to someone who arbitrarily decided to dislike me right upon our first time speaking off camera.” Her tone was slightly sharper than he’d ever heard it, making Jungsoo suspect that, this time, she was genuinely irritated.
As petty as it was, it felt good. The fact that he’d irritated her, who always seemed so unflappable, felt good. He wanted to keep going. Keep annoying her.
“Sorry, but I can’t think much of anything good about someone like you.”
“Someone like me, hm?” She even put the emphasis in the same place. “I’m sure you’re an expert on that topic. So?” She tilted her head sideways, daring him to go on. “How much do you know about me?”
“I know that you’re stuck-up, spoiled, inappropriate, and unprofessional.” The words, devoid of honorifics, left his mouth before he could stop them, surprising even himself. He normally wasn’t this hasty or hotheaded, but just her, coupled with the absolutely abysmal mood he’d been in lately – since that – since that happened – was enough to even catch him off guard, it seemed.
“Really?” She had dropped the honorifics too – something that, for a junior, was considered unacceptable, but Jungsoo dimly thought that they’d already both long crossed the line between being acceptable and not acceptable. “What makes you think I’m stuck-up, spoiled, inappropriate, and unprofessional?”
“There are more than enough rumors, trust me.” Jungsoo realized that he was very nearly sneering.
Then something flared in Taeyeon’s eyes, and she outright did sneer. Her gaze became sharper, derision dripping from her every pore as she regarded him. “Have you seen it?” she challenged – and it was most definitely a challenge. “Have you seen me acting stuck-up? Turning up my nose like I’m better than everyone else? Have you seen me acting spoiled? Demanding what I want at every second and refusing to take no for an answer? Have you seen me acting inappropriate and unprofessional? Saw me flirting with a few men, I suppose?”
Jungsoo stared at her, startled and rendered silent by how disgusted she sounded. It was so far beyond the annoyance that she’d displayed previously – this was blatant, unfiltered scorn. But more than that, he couldn’t find the right words to respond. You had an air of smugness about you wasn’t really a good reason to act like someone was so terribly arrogant – he recognized that. So why was it that he’d been so completely convinced that Taeyeon was just that stuck-up?
“Who are you to judge me?” Her voice was soft – very pretty, Jungsoo just noticed – and extremely venomous, low and enunciated and full of spite. “What gives you the right? A few rumors flitting from mouth to mouth, stirred up by people who’ve never even seen me in person before in their lives? The idiots who judge as if they know everything just from reading articles by soulless reporters and treating others like trash because of it… you’re the one who’s just like them.” Her gaze flickered down to the cup of coffee she’d brought him just minutes earlier, then back to him. Contempt was still dripping from her eyes, and suddenly, Jungsoo found it so much harder to hold her stare.
“Enjoy your coffee.” The smile she gave him was anything but friendly, and then she turned on her heel and left the room. Jungsoo stared after her. Her words were affecting him more, much more, than he wanted to admit. What gives you the right to judge me? It wasn’t an unfair question. What was it that gave him the right to decide that Taeyeon just had to feel superior to him and the others, when she’d never acted like it in the slightest? Now that he thought about it, she had always been pleasant, had always been professional, had always made sure to avoid making the production of the album a completely unilateral process, had always made sure to ask the members’ opinions instead of just deciding matters on her own. Besides his thoughts that she just… just slightly seemed to consider herself better than them, he couldn’t name a single thing that Taeyeon had done wrong.
So why? Why had he been so convinced that she was arrogant, when absolutely nothing concrete that she’d done or said gave any impression of the sort? Jungsoo didn’t know what to tell even himself. He wasn’t usually someone who was quick to judge, especially not off of baseless articles. He knew all too well how many of those were just grabs for attention. And besides, people made mistakes, people had bad days, people had problems that were gnawing at their minds – he should know that, of everyone. So really, what had made him so quick to judge Taeyeon? Was it because of what had recently happened with his father––or something else? He had definitely been feeling below the weather constantly nowadays, but even so…
Jungsoo thought of the few times he’d encountered her before their collaboration for the Mamacita album. Mostly they’d met on Strong Heart, both of their groups frequenting that particular show, although he could name a few others. Like most idols on variety shows, she’d promoted her music, and her group’s music, through teaser-like performances. Taeyeon’s… they’d always been particularly startling. She was bold, after all, and what she came up with rarely ever fit well into what was considered proper – especially for a female idol, especially back then. Confidently sexy, critical of society, and straightforward weren’t exactly concepts that people thought pretty young women like Taeyeon should do. Things were better now, and the box that women were expected to push themselves into was widening, but even Jungsoo, a man, could see that it was suffocating and restrictive back then (and still was today). And Taeyeon often completely broke out of that box, back then and now. It was part of the reason why she was so well-known and popular, and also part of the reason why she had a substantial number of vocal antis on social media. “She’s so classless.” “Doesn’t she even know how cheap and desperate she looks?” “She’s probably the kind of slut that throws herself at men left and right.” “If she seriously thinks she looks good doing that, then her head must be shoved far up her ass.” “Can you imagine how arrogant you’d have to be to be doing trash like that?”
Jungsoo had been one to scoff when he saw comments like that. He thought, clearly, they just couldn’t accept the idea of a woman who was so absolutely unconcerned with fitting their expectations. He’d even thought it was more than a little pathetic; sure, Taeyeon might be maverick, and he’d been caught off guard more than a few times by her, too, but it was far from something to be so hateful about. But, thinking of it now, maybe he hadn’t been so high and mighty, either. The articles and rumors about her being inappropriately sexual, entirely spoiled, or haughty and arrogant, combined with his shock at her daring conceptual and musical variety – they must have swayed his opinion of her more than he realized.
That was why he had been so convinced Taeyeon considered herself superior, even though there was nothing concrete or logical supporting that conclusion. He hadn’t known it for years, but he’d been buying into the same prejudices that he scoffed at.
After that realization, it was difficult to even be around Taeyeon. She was, amazingly, even a little off-puttingly, cordial with him when they had to interact, although she remained reserved and distant and was clearly not too thrilled when she did. Jungsoo, on the other hand, couldn’t find it in himself to be as composed. He found it hard to look her in the eye when they spoke, and quickly took to just trying to avoid her altogether, outside of when it was strictly necessary. The last thing he needed was the members noticing his awkwardness around Taeyeon. And especially Heechul would be wondering why there seemed to be so much tension between them, two of his close friends. So he just tried to stay away from her as best as he could. If Jungsoo did say so himself, he was pretty successful.
Until one night. He was the last one to be recording on that day, and all the other members had gone home. It was just himself, Taeyeon, and a producer, in the studio, and the recording wasn’t going as smoothly as they could have hoped. Taeyeon was meticulous with the details of the song’s vocals, and Jungsoo was rather particular when it came to recording, too, which made for a difficult pair to please. The frustration was threatening to burst over inside him, and it didn’t help that he had to hide it. He had to smile and keep apologizing to Taeyeon and the other producer when all he wanted to do was groan and run an exasperated hand through his hair – not to mention the fact that she was watching his every mistake. What made things worse was that she didn’t seem irritated at all, even though he knew she must be – how could she not? But she stayed calm, her tone levelheaded, laid-back. “Again, please.” “A little higher?” “Will you put a tad bit more emphasis on that syllable?” Jungsoo would have preferred that she just let him see her annoyance; he’d feel less apologetic that way, and feeling less apologetic would mean he felt less embarrassed.
Eventually, Taeyeon had asked if he wanted to take a break before continuing. Jungsoo, needing some time to cool down, had agreed, and she’d left the room, saying she’d be back in ten minutes. The other staff member took his temporary leave as well, probably tired of sitting in the studio for so long. When he was alone, Jungsoo sat down on one of the couches, sighing.
He thought he just needed a moment to gather himself, but his frustrations crept up behind him and piled up, swamping his mind. The frustrations turned to insecurities quickly, and, to his horror, he thought he could hear his father’s voice, his father’s words, echoing in his head. “Do you think you came all this way because of your hard work?”
And really, had he? He tried his best to be a leader, to keep his group together, to mediate between the members and comfort them when things were hard, but in reality? Jungsoo had no fucking idea what he was doing. He had no clue had to handle all the things that came their way. He wasn’t a leader, he’d never been someone with strong leadership. He could barely handle himself, so how could he possibly be the leader that the other members deserved? He hadn’t been able to stop Hangeng from leaving – hadn’t even noticed that his friend was dissatisfied until he sued and left – and he hadn’t been able to do anything about Heechul’s near decision to leave the group. He was supposed to be a pillar, an anchor, something that his members could cling on to when things became difficult for them and trust to keep them upright, but he could only just stay standing, himself. You can’t do anything. You’re useless. You’re no help to anyone. You’re called the leader of the group, but just what are you good for, really?
Jungsoo realized he was shuddering. He took a deep breath, trying to calm himself, but the motion caught in his chest. The trembling wouldn’t stop. His muscles felt tight, too tight, and his heart was beating too hard and too fast in his chest. He felt both hot and cold at the same time, like he had a fever, and the hollow area behind his eyes felt too light, too airy, to be normal. His head pounded violently, making his temples ache. He couldn’t control his breathing. His ribcage felt like it was being compressed. Panicked, he gripped desperately at the sofa, trying to ground himself, but his body flew away from him in bounds, and soon, he could vaguely hear the sound of his own ragged, irregular breaths. A sob ripped its way harshly, almost painfully, from his throat. Then another. Then another. Then another, until he was openly crying as he trembled, curling into a ball on the sofa with his arms wrapped around himself.
Worthless. Weak. Incompetent. Pathetic. Coward.
Coward. Useless. Weak. Incompetent. Pathetic.
Pathetic. Weak. Worthless. Useless. Incompetent.
He dimly heard the door opening again and someone walking in, and Jungsoo wanted – really wanted – to pull himself together, because he just couldn’t be seen like this. But his body wouldn’t listen to him. He tried to take a deep breath, only for it to get stuck in his throat, then forced painfully back out by another cry. His grip of own hands clutching his forearms was too strong, too tight, to the point where it was painful, but he was completely unable to loosen his fingers.
Incompetent. Coward. Pathetic. Worthless. Weak.
‘Sunbaenim? Sunbaenim.’
Weak. Coward. Incompetent. Worthless. Pathetic.
‘Leeteuk-sunbaenim? Can you hear me? Sunbaenim?’
Pathetic. Weak. Worthless. Useless. Pathetic––
“Jungsoo!”
The sound of his name – his real name – pulled him out of the quagmire, if only for a moment of hazy confusion. Struggling to move through the waves of panic crashing over him, the violent shuddering that was overtaking his body, he lifted his head, feebly looking around. Turning his gaze, just barely, to the left, he caught a flash of dark hair tugged into a hasty ponytail, pale pink lips, and wide brown eyes staring at him in a mixture of shock and concern.
It was Taeyeon, he realized dimly, over another choked sob, on the sofa next to him. Her body was positioned towards his, as if she wanted to make contact with him, but no part of her was touching any part of him. It was like she was wary of letting them even so much as brush against each other.
Her voice, though, seemed to touch him, trickling into his ears, at first without completely comprehension. He could hear the words she was saying, but his brain refused to understand them at first over the sound of his heart thumping, the tightness in his chest, the lightness in his head.
“…alright. It’s all going to be fine. I’m here now. I have you.”
Fine.
I’m here.
I have you.
Those words – those words, just the fact that someone was saying them sounded like music to Jungsoo’s ears. At least, that was what he had time to think, before his body tensed further, something he hadn’t even thought was possible, and another cry wracked him. Another overwhelming wave of something – something – swamped his psyche, rendering Jungsoo unable to even attempt to cry for help. He felt damp and hot and somehow frozen all over, everything, everything, spiraling out of his control.
Incompetent. Coward. Pathetic. Worthless. Weak.
Worthless. Weak. Incompetent. Pathetic. Coward.
Weak. Coward. Incompetent. Worthless. Pathetic.
“Is it okay if I touch you?”
Touch me? Jungsoo nodded, only just barely – nowhere near enough to convey how badly he wanted her to touch him, how badly he wanted anyone to touch him. Human contact. Someone else. He needed it, and if that was going to be her, he needed her. He desperately tried to reach out towards the fellow human body on the couch, but his hands, his arms, they wouldn’t listen to him.
It didn’t matter, though, because in that instant, her hands were on him, gripping his arms and fighting to break the chokehold he had on his own body. Once she had pried his hands from himself, she clasped one of them in her own, ignoring how hard he must have been squeezing her, and began to rub his back in slow circles. “It’s alright,” he heard her say. “I’m here for you. Just listen to me, you can do this. Breathe.”
Breathe. Jungsoo tried. He tried to pull air into his mouth, down his throat, and into his lungs, but only part of the oxygen he’d breathed in went further than his windpipe. The rest stuck fast and harsh against an invisible, intangible, but somehow still very much existent, lump in his chest. A sound that vaguely resembled a hiccup made his entire body jerk. He sobbed again, his ribcage feeling awfully, terrifyingly compressed, like there was a physical force pushing the two halves together.
“Breathe.” The voice was firmer now. “Just follow my voice. I have faith in you, Jungsoo. Here – in… out… in… out… in… out… in – that’s right, just like that. You can do it. Out… in… out… in… out… in…”
There was no telling how long she’d been there next to him, but when Jungsoo regained enough of himself to realize that the panic was abating, she was still there. Turning his head, he looked in her direction, staring at her face – her intent, concerned gaze, the way her lips were slightly parted in concern, the deftness with which her eyes scanned over his face – and he saw her for the first time.
Humiliation flooded over Jungsoo, mixing with the still present and intense distress from just minutes earlier, coalescing into a mass that was altogether unpleasant. And when he cried again, tears leaking from his eyes and blurring her face, there were no words in any language’s vocabulary to express how sorry he was.
And then, she hugged him. Pulling him gently against her so he could feel the warmth of her body soaking through her clothes and his, reminding him that she was there – that someone was there. Her hand slid over his back, resting lightly just at the base of his spine. Shuddering, Jungsoo buried his face in her shoulder, trying to control his trembles.
“You’re alright,” she murmured in an impossibly comforting voice. “I’m right here. You’re going to be fine.”
“I – I’m sorry––” Jungsoo gasped as another sob gripped him. “I’m so sorry.” She shouldn’t have to see him like this, she shouldn’t be having to deal with him like this. Especially not after he was so––
One of her hands left his back to reach upwards, softly caressing the back of his head. “Don’t apologize. Just focus on breathing. It’ll be okay. I promise.”
It must have taken another five minutes for the attack to subside completely, and Jungsoo found himself clinging desperately to Taeyeon, like a child who’d found his mother after a long separation. Her hand was locked in his, but he didn’t want to let go. He needed the feeling of their hands joining to remind him of her words. It’ll be okay. I promise. He sniffled, just now feeling the tears drying on and spilling over his cheeks. Another cry bubbled from his chest and forced its way out through his mouth, but it was softer now, more controlled. Jungsoo pulled away from the embrace, but he didn’t let go of her hand. He wasn’t ready to.
As he drew back, Taeyeon squeezed his fingers reassuringly in her own. “It’s all good,” she said, soothingly. “You’re alright.” Reaching up, she wiped his tears away with her thumb, her palm settling gently and briefly on his cheek. Her skin was soft against his face.
Jungsoo finally managed to take a full breath. It was tremulous, shuddering, and made his eyelids flutter from the effort, but it was a full breath. “I – I’m sorry,” he stuttered, his voice hoarse and thick from his crying. “You didn’t – need to see me like – like this.” They were just colleagues, just one-time colleagues at that… and two people who’d gotten into a vicious argument just days earlier, because he was unreasonable and he was irrational and he was the one who had been a pretentious asshole. Oh God, what was he going to do?
“No, no.” She patted his hand gently. “I understand. It’s okay. I won’t ask what happened, but I’m here for you. You can talk to me about it if you want, but you don’t have to.”
Jungsoo dragged another breath through his teeth, cringing at the harsh gasping sound it produced. Taeyeon didn’t even flinch. She continued looking at him with that same encouraging gaze, keeping her hand firmly intertwined with his. He still didn’t want to let go. She didn’t look the same as she had just ten minutes ago, leaving the studio and telling him that she’d be right back; she looked like an angel sent by God. Jungsoo knew it sounded cliché, but she really, truly, did seem like a holy being from a higher dimension that had come to Earth to help him.
“Thank you,” he said, his voice weak and tremulous, but at least he could control it now. “Thank you. For helping me. I… I – thank you.” He didn’t think he could express in words how grateful he was, for being there next to him, holding his hand, instructing him through his breaths… hugging him.
Her sweater was damp where he’d buried her face in her shoulder and cried.
“I’m s-sorry,” Jungsoo managed, apologizing again as shame tickled his skin. “Your sweater…”
Taeyeon followed his gaze and seemed to only then see the wet stain covering the fabric. “It’s nothing,” she said, her tone entirely, effortlessly, and most of all, sincerely, dismissive. “Are you feeling better? Can you breathe?”
Overwhelmed by her kindness, Jungsoo nodded.
“Good. Do you think you can stand? We can get you to someone who can help.”
Again, Jungsoo nodded, unable to find words. The corners of Taeyeon’s lip curled up in a small, reassuring smile. She stood, offering a supporting hand to Jungsoo. Tentatively, he took it, and, supporting himself with his hand against the arm of the couch, pushed himself to his feet. His legs felt unsteady, and he was suddenly so exhausted that he wasn’t sure he could walk, but Taeyeon’s arm wrapping around his waist and letting him lean against her helped him avoid falling down like an idiot. She was surprisingly strong. At such a close proximity, the smell of her vanilla perfume wafted gently over his nose.
Jungsoo realized his heart was pounding. It wouldn’t stop, even as Taeyeon helped him out of the studio and to the staff, who took him from there. Taeyeon called after him, telling him to take care, and the last of her that Jungsoo saw before he was helped out of the studio by the staff was her staring after him. Her brows were pulled together, lips parted slightly, eyes intent, in an expression of worried concern.
Maybe it was his imagination, but his heart pounded harder.
200202 Kyuhyun YT (Kyu TV) -Hyuk +Shindong+Wook
https://youtu.be/j_PiDGg-inA
200203 Kyuhyun's birthday
Kyu says he receives a lot of presents from the fans after his musical so he says he usually takes like 5 hours to deal with all the presents (like read the letters and look at the presents etc)
kyu was saying there was a fan who said he liked him for 8 years so he thought she would probably be in her twenties but shes only a high schooler and she started liking him since she was in elementary school so he was like mindblown
kyu just took 2 big bags of letters and said he usually reads those at night and if he doesnt read them, they will pile up 😂
Kyu says its okay even if you dont give him presents because he is earning well thanks to everyone so when he reads letters, sometimes they say its their first pay from working hard from a part time job and he is really sad
he says please go buy some stuff for yourself instead and just writing letters to him is fine
kyu says he received so many throat candies that he feels like he can live for 3 years just eating those that he has
the guest is shindong (and probably hyukjae) lol just now behind the cam, hyukjae was like 'are you not cooking yet??? im hungry"
kyu was chopping the meat then in the comments, a lot of people were telling him to be careful with the knife and kyu confidently said he has never cut himself with the knife
Hyukjae behind the cam was like hurry up im hungry
HYUKJAE SAYS HE HAS NO MAKEUP AND CANT APPEAR BUT HE ACCIDENTALLY APPEARED
Shindong told hyukjae to wear donghae's bunker hat and cover himself
Ryeowook asked why donghae wasnt there but nobody really answered why
shindong says if the number of viewers exceeds 20k, kyu will have to give them each 20k krw 😂
Kyuhyun explained that shindong was meant to be the guest that he invited then hyukjae is living there so he is also there then ryeowook heard kyu inviting shindong so he was like ‘what about me!!!’ and thats why he is there and why no other members are there
Someone gave kyu a shot glass that says ‘like kyuhyun(kyuhyun cheoreom)’..its a pun from the alcohol called ‘cheoeum cheoreom(from the beginning)’ and hyukjae was like everyone if you drink ‘like kyuhyun’ you will die...pls dont do that 😂😂
Ryeowook says he will drink his first shot of soju slowly and he drank like 3/4 of it and then hyukjae was like you should drink it all! But rw was like imma drink slowly..i learnt it from donghae hyung then hyukjae was like ‘.....what do you learn from that kid?’
kyu is asking fans if its ok for them to wear presents that were meant for a certain member like he was explaining at macau, he forgot to bring his cap so he borrowed hyukjae’s since he had like 5 caps in his room
And then hyukjae was saying there were many times where the fans pass presents to him and asked him to pass the presents to another member and hyukjae was like thats fine but please dont give them all to me 😂 because he also has to arrange his own presents and it takes time
And he mentioned like once he saw a fan posting on sns saying the shirt was meant for donghae but he ended up wearing it because he got confused like he thought the shirt was for him
Kyuhyun even took out a small muji bag and he says the contents in it were all for ryeowook (seems like letters??) and he received all those just from yesterday
Kyu was looking at his phone and saying who sent messages to wish him and he was like OH yesung hyung sent a message! Then he showed to ryeowook and ryeowook was like..so short >_> and kyu was like yeah he added an emoticon too! And rw was like free emoticon >_>
Rw asked if donghae sent kyu a msg and kyu said no not yet and rw was like what is this donghae doing.....
They are now talking abt how they are like when they are tipsy and for ryeowook, hyukjae says he suddenly has a lot of aegyo and pulls people to keep drinking. Kyu then says after ss8 seoul, they asked who wanna go for 2nd round and rw says me!! But he didnt go 😂
Kyu was talking about how one time they were in chile (for mubank?) and then they were drinking in someone’s room and hyukjae said he was going to the toilet but he didnt come back so thry went to find him and he was asleep on the floor hugging the toilet bowl 😂😂
Hyukjae defends by saying because he was jetlagged + it was when he first started out to drink + it was wine so he got very sleepy and drunk very quickly
So hyukjae says when kyu is tipsy, hes just pretty much the same but one thing he remembers is that if someone sings around him, he will start giving the person vocal lessons 😂😂😂😂😂
Kyu asked if they’ve fixed which day they wanna go watch him at the musical and hyuk says yes but rw says no. Kyu then asks if we know that theres a chart that was uploaded abt his schedule and it was made by him. He says he made it using paint and rw asked ‘whats paint??’ 😂
Kyu asked hyukjae like when he was living alone, were there times he felt scared cuz of random sounds in the house and hyukjae says yes and usually when that happens he gets scared and doesnt really wanna leave the room
Then kyu said in their current dorm, because he sleeps late, at 4/5am, he occasionally hears random knocking sounds outside in the living room and he thought its manager or hyukjae but when he goes out to see, theres nobody then hyukjae was like  WHY DID YOU TELL ME
Anyway hyukjae says the scariest thing when living alone was when he watches some playback shows then he pauses it to go to the toilet but then when hes in the toilet, the video starts to play again on its own 😂 rw says apparently it auto plays again on its on after 10 mins
Humble (Part 2)
“…She’s the closest thing North America has to actual royalty.”
Maybe that’s the problem.
Maybe you need to be brought down a few notches.
Maybe you need to be humbled.
Siwon is correct, he realizes with a twinge of irritation.
The rest of the boys do like you.
They like you a lot.
The way they laugh, flirt, and accommodate you with little school boy grins on their faces only deepens his dislike for you. Don’t they see how airheaded you are? You asked about a fucking microphone and how to use it! If that doesn’t scream spoiled, ridiculous brat, Siwon doesn’t know what will.
“How often do you come visit lowly artists like us?” Donghae sits directly across from you, eyes bright and shiny, chin propped up on his fist. The smile he gives you could light the entire country for a year if the government tried to harness its power.
Siwon snorts at the obvious attempt to flirt. It’s so close to the what’s a pretty girl like you doing in a place like this line that he feels actually sick to hear it. Nevertheless, he translates for Donghae.
You pointedly ignore Mr. Giant-Stick-Up-His-Ass and answer Donghae’s question. “In Seoul? Not often. The last time I was here was to visit-” Your throat closes up, stopping you from finishing your sentence. Even saying his name is difficult for you.
“President Moon?” Siwon offers.
“Oh, well, yes. I also have some friends here involved in the music industry. I knew a decent amount about SM as a company before I visited yesterday all thanks to them. I suppose I just wanted to see for myself.”
Siwon raises a brow. “So you lied to get here?”
“Excuse me?!” You stand abruptly, glaring at him in a manner that makes the other Super Junior members squirm uncomfortably in their seats. “I don’t know what you’re implying-”
“I’m not implying anything. I believe I said what I had to say.”
Your cheeks flush red out of anger. “You little-”
Jack rushes forward, whispering in your ear, “CAMERAS!”
When Siwon smirks, pleased to have gotten such a reaction out of you, it only makes you angrier. You want to smack him hard enough his nose bleeds. Instead, you settle for sitting back down and continuing the conversation. Out of the corner of your eye you see the flash of several cameras going off outside the conference room.
“My friend was in a terrible place emotionally and I believed part of it was due to stress from work. In a way, I was looking for something to blame his mental health on… I wanted to see if things were really as bad as he implied.” You straighten out your black skirt, rolling your shoulders back, and lifting your chin slightly. “Not that my motives should matter to you.”
“Your motives matter very much, I assure you.” Siwon folds his hands in his lap. The silver metal of his Cartier watch glints in the bright light of the room. “This company is very important to very many people. We don’t need some American princess meddling around in it.”
“I just want to help.”
“We don’t need your help.”
You put on your best, most charming smile. “I’m sure you don’t. That’s why I never said I was here to help you or this company. My friend was part of SM, but I’m here to help his mother with an organization she decided to start up.”
“How sweet of you.” Siwon smiles back. Just as sweet. Just as charming. To the outside world it looks like a pleasant enough conversation, but inside the room anyone could cut the tension with a knife.
“You’re Super Junior’s leader, right?” You turn to Leeteuk and ask in Korean.
He nods, concerned about exactly where this conversation is going. Especially once you stand and reach for your bag. Maybe his English isn’t the best, but his people reading skills are immaculate. He knows whatever has been said between you and Siwon wasn’t friendly.
“I’ll have my assistant leave my number with you. Call me and we’ll set up another meeting. Just us.” You bow to Leeteuk and leave the room, the scent of lilies trailing after you.
Jack approaches Leeteuk and scribbles down your phone number on a sheet of notebook paper. He gestures the First Family’s translator forward, whispering to them as he hands the number to Leeteuk.
“Do not allow this number to get out as it is her private phone number. Her schedule is quite packed for the next month so texting would be a better option. Please keep in mind any and all calls or messages received can be monitored at any moment. Refrain from lewd comments.” The translator bows when she finishes up repeating Jack’s orders.
“She’s not trying to date you,” Jack adds in English. “Business only.”
Siwon doesn’t lose his smile as he says, “I’m sure he understands already, but I will be more than happy to reiterate your points. To every member. Not only Leeteuk.”
Jack tilts his head, examining the casual, almost too relaxed way Siwon sits. There’s a smugness in the air that Jack just doesn’t care for. “I would appreciate that. I would also appreciate you remaining far from the meeting when it takes place. We have our own translators available.”
“Of course. The less I need to be involved, the better.” Siwon stands, bowing respectfully. “Please have a wonderful stay here in South Korea, Mr…”
“McBride.”
“Mr. McBride.” Siwon says the name carefully.
Jack takes careful, measured steps toward Siwon. The two men are of similar height and build, with Jack being a bit taller and a bit more muscular. The way he looks down his nose at Siwon makes Siwon bristle with anger. “This isn’t my first time with men like you, Mr. Choi.”
“Men like me? I’m not sure what you mean.”
“Men who like to humiliate the people I love.” Jack tilts his head to the side. “You see what you want to see out of her. You know nothing about what she’s actually like.”
“Bratty heiresses tend to only come in one flavor.” The smile never leaves Siwon’s face. “Rotten.”
Jack, ever composed, ever calm Jack, briefly loses his cool and contemplates if it would be worth risking his job to punch this smug bastard in the face. What right does the son of one of the richest men in South Korea have to judge the daughter of one of the richest men in America? They’re on the same playing field, and from what Jack’s seen, you have the high ground.
Instead of balling up his fist and popping Siwon right in the nose, Jack settles for saying, “We’ll be seeing you tomorrow Mr. Choi.”
Siwon looks visibly thrown off. “I’m sorry?”
“Oh, did no one inform you? Tomorrow is Sunday and she never misses a day of church. Not even abroad. I asked your leader for suggestions earlier and he told me about the church you attend. Have a wonderful night.” Jack walks out of the room with a pleased grin on his face.
“Red headed bastard,” Siwon mumbles in Korean as he watches Jack leave. “They’re all awful. At first I just thought it was her, but-”
“Hyung,” Donghae’s voice is gentle when he interrupts Siwon. “You’ve been going on and on about how terrible she is, but she seemed perfectly fine to me.”
Siwon’s mouth falls open. “Really? Were you not paying attention?”
Leeteuk holds up the piece of paper with a wide smile and dreamy eyes. “I got her phone number! Oh, how long should I wait to text her? Now?”
“No, you’ll seem too eager.” Shindong takes the paper from Leeteuk. “Hyung, you should wait until tomorrow.”
“And keep it casual,” Heechul adds. “Don’t start in with your “I had a dream we got married” bullshit.”
“Fuck off, it was one time and I was twenty three.” Leeteuk snatches the paper back from Shindong and simply stares at it for a good ten seconds. He can’t believe his luck. He actually got your phone number. Yours. You’re so far out of his league it’s ridiculous you even looked in his direction. This is by far the best day of Leeteuk’s life.
Siwon is in the fucking Twilight Zone.
He has to be.
Is he seriously the only one who sees you for what you are? A spoiled, entitled, rich bitch, self-absorbed brat? Hell, even when you were talking about your friend- whoever the poor man must be, bless his soul- you managed to make it all about you. How you felt about what he went through. How it made you want to help in whatever way you came up with. You never even bothered to give a name. It was all about you and what you wanted to do.
“I can’t believe all of you,” Siwon says. “She’s not even attractive.”
“Oh, no, hyung! You’re going blind!” Ryeowook holds up his hand and shows Siwon a few fingers. “Quick, how many fingers am I holding up?”
Generally it’s Siwon being the teaser, not the teased. This time though it’s Siwon making the disgusted face and telling Ryeowook off.
“Seriously, Siwon, what did she do that pissed you off so much?” Yesung folds his arms over his chest and leans back in his chair. “I really don’t understand. She’s charming, funny, and seems smart.”
“She asked how a microphone works! A fucking microphone!”
Eunhyuk shrugs. “She’s a political figure, not an artist. Plus it’s a newer model of one of our professional studio sets. Can you really blame her for not being able to look at it and tell you exactly how it works?”
“It’s a microphone!” Siwon pinches the bridge of his nose and sighs.
Leeteuk and Heechul share a brief look. In the few seconds their eyes meet, they come to the same conclusion. Siwon is just having one of his bitch fits. They don’t come often (maybe once every year and a half or so) and don’t last often either. It’s Leeteuk’s opinion that Siwon’s fits are induced by stress brought on by work and family matters. Heechul thinks it’s as simple as the fact no one can be as nice as Siwon without letting out the frustration at least once a year.
“Siwon, have you spoken with your parents recently?” Leeteuk’s probing is as gentle as the expression on his face. “Are they asking you about marriage again?”
“Yes.” Siwon is miserable as he answers. “Sort of. They’re upset Lui and I split up. Mother is under the impression Father will pick a wife for me if I don’t “settle down” soon.”
“Would he really do that?” Heechul asks. “Make you marry someone?”
“That’s how families with money tend to work.”
“But your sister-”
“Is my sister. If she were my brother instead, things would be different.” Siwon sinks back in his chair.
Donghae grins a toothy, crooked grin. “Hyung, look on the bright side. Your father didn’t want you to be an idol at first either, but he changed his mind quick enough. Maybe this will be the same.”
“Maybe.”
"I'm really grateful to my fans. They are as precious as the air to me. We can't live without air, not even for a moment. Without fans, Super Junior can't also exist." - Leeteuk
"You may say it's such nonsense, but I always liked Super Junior's balloon color. Pearl Sapphire Blue. Until pearl sapphire blue covers the entire planet, Super Junior will continue to perform." - Leeteuk
"Our ELF, Ever.Lasting.Friends...the friends that walked beside Super Junior since we debuted and even the name of the fanclub, are all made from us. To say the truth, I used to not like blue, but after forming Super Junior && meeting ELF, no matter where I go there are people asking me what color I like, I will say I love sapphire blue. It is not ELF who was poisoned by Super Junior, it is Super Junior who was poisoned by ELF. Everytime the internet has some untruthful news, the fans tell us, 'Oppa, didnt you tell us you would be truthful to us? Why did you lie?' Truthfully, I feel very bad. I really want to go on a live show to tell everyone, 'ELF I AM INNOCENT! Why do you have to believe those words. Believe what I say!' But I was afraid, so I didnt say anything. I wanted to explain to everyone. When the members are sick, they cry together with us. When we are happy, they smile with us. Although there are a lot of high school students in ELF, but once Super Junior's age gets older and older ELF will also follow and get older and older. If Super Junior becomes an old group and come out to sing, ELF will bring their own kids and introduce us as their favorite hyung or oppa in the past. When I think of these times, I feel very happy. ELF && SUPER JUNIOR ARE INSEPARABLE. Life couples or partners. I LOVE YOU ALL!" - Kangin
"When we feel very tired, and see everyone's happy smile from the stage, waiting for us, it gives us even more courage and become our strength. Although I am very thankful to the people that directly helped me, the people i should really thank is ELF." - Yesung
"Just like the words ELF, they are everlastingfriends. I always assumed that nothing in this world could be everlasting, but everytime we feel tired, our fans always support us. When we, 13 members, as Super Junior debuted, even though we started as 12, we suffered through many suspicions of the skills of so many members. They asked, "Can they succeed? Can they do it?" A lot of people asked these questions. Changing the question mark into an exclamation mark was our ELF. Truthfully, many people around me also told me to not be stubborn about popularity and the responses of fans, and gave me a quote. "Popularity is only for a moment."I thought about what it really meant. Because I didn't know when popularity will come and go. If you are too stubborn about that. Then your hope is destroyed, you become tired. Or you reach your lowest point. You won't be able to get back up again. But I believe in every one of ELF. To me, I can believe. As long as there are the Super Junior members & ELF, Even though I usually see everyone on TV. It is not only because of Super Junior.If there was no ELF, I would become empty. To me, ELF is like Super Junior...they are my heart and lungs. I love you all <3" - Leeteuk
"Our fans, ELF is where our strength comes from. Really, if there was no ELF, there would not be us. Without us, there would not be ELF as well. Like the dependence of Super Junior & ELF on eachother, I want everyone to feel like one. ELF and us come together as one, completing more and better stages & performances. I want it to start now. it is already the 2nd album now. We will be more hardworking until the day comes when ELF and us become one. Hope the will continue forever." - Shindong
"Elf..many celebrities probably think that fanclubs are just fanclubs but there are other who don't. to me, it is not only a fanclub anymore. it has already become a very important existance. no matter if i'm having a hard or happy time, fans really give me alot of strength. i am really thankful to them. because of the fans, i have cried many times and have had many happy times. the same when i see the comments in the fancafe. the best elf fan of lee hyukjae. there are alot of comments like that. like this, i am very happy. very happy that people like me. of course I also sing for others but when i'm old i hope i can still sing and dance for all of the fans. i hope that we are not the same as other singers. hope that we can become even closer. every time we finish our performance, we think of ways to meet our fans more and play with them.ther are times when we let the staff become very tired, but it's because we love our fans so much.hope that we will forever maintain this kind of relationship." - Eunhyuk
"Our elf is really too cute. in our group, because leeteuk is the leader, he lets me depend on him. but if i am alone without any members, my vigor truthfully comes from elf. if there was no elf, there would be inexpressible space the feeling of not knowing what to do and loneliness. our elf is like our SJ's everlastingfriends, our beloved girlfriends, lovers? this is what I think" - Sungmin
"ELF brings me self-confidence and courage. Because there is ELF, Super Junior can have something to depend upon, build up confidence, and create courage. ELF is a rest station that we can depend upon." - Kibum
"The existence of ELF is like the heart and air of Super Junior. They are like the air that is most important for people to survive...It is like people who cannot live without air. We are the same. Without fans, we cannot survive. Like this, fans are the most important to me, just like air. " - Siwon
"Like the words say, ELF are like friends, like nunas, like hyungs, or dongsaengs. It seems like it is different from the past. Celebrities from the past have an invisible wall between them and their fans. They have a definite distance. But now, it really is like friends since the internet has developed. They can more or less see our personal lives. Although it is like this, they won't have a heart to satisfy themselves and get close to us. Instead they will worry about us and comfort us. It is also the same between E.L.F. If someone says, "Oh, today I did bad on my school exam," The other fans will encourage them. Looking at this, I am very happy. Even though it is because of Super Junior that ELF can gather together, They can also become good friends. And a very good affinity. We Thank you. Being able to blindly see us. ELF doing what bthey are supposed to; keeping with the rules. To say it again, the freedom of following rules is the most beautiful. Even though if there is no Super Junior, there would not be an ELF fanclub, if we turn to another perspective, the relationship has already become. If there is not ELF fanclub, there will not be SUPER JUNIOR." - Heechul
"To. ELF, Super Junior's girlfriend that loves just Super Junior;
Since that time when we first met until now, there hasn't been a time when I didn't think of you.
You've always watched over us warmly, held our hand and picked us up when we fell. Told us not to cry and wiped our tears away when they fell.
Always moving us deeply by appearing anywhere like Superman without growing weary.
Telling us it's okay when we show an ugly side of us; thank you for even loving and caring for that side of us.
Because of you I feel like I am always smiling and crying.
Don't say the words "thank you" to us.
Because the people who are eternally thankful are us.
Again, thank you and thank you again.
Starting now as the time goes by, even when I'm 30 years, 40 years, 50 years old, I would like to remember and cherish this current time and smile.
Although there may be lots of dread, and many hard times coming up, I'll think of ELF and try to endure it all and work hard.
I will continue to ask for your favor.
Wherever, I will be the unashamed Donghae and Super Junior.
There's the thing that I always say, right?
This is something that I really ask of you, even if nothing else matters, please just don't be sick.
Let's make more amazing memories in 2008.
Once more I bow in thanks and I love you."
- Donghae
"At this moment, I feel like I own the whole world.
Whether good or bad times. We've experienced it together.
Sometimes I feel apologetic and sorry to you all.
If we can be like now, crying and laughing together always
When I become older, we will all become older
So at that time, we will have to be together
because we exist for each other, right?
I love you all."
- Kangin
"To me, it is an existence that cannot be missing. It is the strongest army in the roads upcoming. They give us lots of love. No matter if it's a happy or tough time, they will stand by our side. Even if we made a big mistake, they will stand by our side. It is an existence that we can't not have." - Kyuhyun
"Can be described as partners? If there was no E.L.F, there wouldn't be me. Without me, there would not be E.L.F. They are friends that continue to have a good relationship with us. Everlasting Friends. All E.L.F. I really thank everyone." - Ryeowook
"Thank you for making me shine." - Leeteuk
"Because E.L.F exists, Super Junior is eternal." - Heechul
"All the more important E.L.F. Thank you so much and I love you." - Hankyung
"Everlasting, reliable defender, E.L.F...I love you." - Yesung
"As like we started together, lets put up the end together." - Kangin
"I hope we can be one forever." - Shindong
As a Shinfriend with an opinion, I feel like I'm doing myself a disservice keeping quiet about this. It's just such a polarising topic, I worried for my reputation if I said anything. I'm sick of everyone being so calm about this though.
Please be aware that this isn't aimed at anyone who might still be hurting. It's not easy to for some to move on after hearing a thing like "that". It's not their fault and it never will be. This is about the assholes that are making a mockery and taking advantage of a real issue for the sake of slandering an idol out of petty spite.
I don't think there's a single person on this planet now that doesn't know what Shindong said. It doesn't need to be repeated here. I am by no means looking to absolve him of that. I was personally hurt when I read about it, yes I was sad, yes I cried. By the end of the article, I'd come to the conclusion that his opinion didn't matter to me any more than anyone else's, because it can't be changed, and so I resolved to meet him and punch him one (1) time for having said it. After seeing the standard for how people act towards him, I honestly don't have it in me to be upset at him anymore. I was angry, briefly, but never thought of leaving him or the music that I've come to depend on.
It took a couple of weeks for it to sink in that this happened almost nine years ago. Think about the backlash that he would have faced immediately after it happened. A week after. A month. A year. Five years. Nearly ten years to think about what he said. I don't care how horrible a person you think he is, he would have been reconsidering his opinion from the minute he said it, and after this many years it'd be pretty strange if he didn't think differently by now. Even if he hadn't said what he said and been torn apart for it, considering how much the public's view has changed in all that time, his opinions would probably be different by now as well.
Realistically, he's probably a complete dick, most people are, even though I have a feeling that he isn't. That's just my own stupid fault for assuming the best of people. That doesn't matter to me, because no matter what he's like as a person, he's doing the best he can to make up for his past actions. What more do you want him to do?
And do you really think that bringing it up over and over and over again is actually helping anything? By all means talk about it, dicuss it. Just stop barging into unrelated conversations and demanding that a person that we clearly think the world of should be "cancelled" or whatever. Remember to use past tense; call him out for what he thought rather than what he thinks, for what he said, not what he says. It's over, stop pretending that it's an ongoing thing when it isn't. He hasn't said anything else like that since it happened, he's even completely changed his public stance to be completely supportive.
All that he's said since then has been positive. But you're trying to erase all of that, because you're petty and just want him to suffer for what he did. You're trying to bury all of the positive words that he's directed at people that he might have hurt, just for the sake of hurting him. Do you realise what that means? People might actually need to hear these things from someone that's important to them, but instead, you're throwing around all this shit about him being a terrible human being and perpetuating this horrible thing that happened once, years ago, as though it were repeated behaviour that he hasn't been spending the rest of his career trying to atone for.
And he apologised as soon as the public called him out for it initially. The apology was messy and confusing. It wasn't forced and nicely formatted like a regular artist apology would be, because his company didn't demand that he apologise and then throw a template at him to fill out and show off to the media. He listened to the public, saw that people were hurt, and apologised himself.
He was stating an opinion. It was a pretty shitty opinion, sure, but he wasn't being intentionally malicious or threatening anyone's life. He didn't seem to have any idea that what he was saying could hurt the people that heard it. That doesn't mean it was okay to say it. We know. We get it. Everyone gets it, I hope. But what he said is nowhere near the level of the rot that you "antis" are coming up with. I hate that we're normalising this kind of behaviour and chalking it up to just being "what the antis do". If it was any normal person being talked about like this, people would be all over the malicious comments, but because Shindong's famous that makes it okay. Antis can use the most disgusting slurs, harass the man directly, publicly fantasise over the specifics of what they'd do to him with a knife. But it just slides by because he's a celebrity and it's to be expected. Even though it's damaging to both the people that care about him and innocent bystanders that have nothing to do with it, and just happen upon it by accident.
You realise that there's collateral damage happening here, right? People that really don't need to hear any of this are hearing it. You know exactly what I'm talking about without me having to say it. You're arguing like a bunch of children and people are getting hurt because of it. The only ones throwing around fatphobic insults here are this bunch of hypocrites telling Shindong to die for something that he's actually making an effort to fix. And don't you dare try and tell me that people aren't using this as an excuse to fatshame him. If they actually cared about what he said rather than how he looks, then they wouldn't even be mentioning his weight in the first place; instead, they're going on like a bunch of bitchy primary schoolers. Considering that, it's probably understandable that they think he'll never change, because they never do. But if you don't believe that people can change, that's your own issue to deal with, there's no need to go around harassing others because of that.
All that they're achieving is dredging up bad memories that nobody wants to think about, trying to stir people up. It's bad enough that this happened at all, but now they're making an effort to shove it under our noses at every possible opportunity. I hate that it happened. And I hate all of you for making it worse. I've finally found my happy trigger, something that I can just look at and magically feel alright. But all of this nonsense is starting to ruin it.
Another thing that I've been keeping to myself... Some of you ELF have such an overinflated superiority complex that it makes me feel sick to be one of you sometimes. If you weren't such a bunch of snobs, you might stop bragging about how your faves are the best and the first and all that, and maybe you could appreciate music for music, rather than the people that figurehead the production team that creates it. That goes for everyone. You don't have to love every song from every artist, but if you have so much trouble playing well with others, just don't. It shouldn't be that hard not to provoke each other. I really honestly do not understand why that seems to be impossible.
tl;dr: I am not a blinded, all forgiving fan. I was hurt by what he said. But you hypocrites are acting like he's the Anti-Christ or some shit. You're benefitting literally no one. If you absolutely have to talk smack about others to feel better about yourself, just remember that private messaging apps exist for a reason. If that's too complicated for you, there's nothing more I can do. Please just get your heads out of your arses and learn to let each other live already.
