the original post is here, but basically the synopsis is a bratty, young, city boy John Egan who keeps getting in trouble and has to be sent away to a ranch to basically get himself sorted out. And oops! It just so happens that Gale Cleven, hot, slightly older, completely silent stable hand is working on this ranch as well

insert John just being an absolute menace bcs he's trying to seduce Gale to get out of work (it's working but don't tell anyone), and eventually realizes that he's in love with Gale

they share many a tender moment on that ranch, John is initially scared of the horses but Gale helps him overcome that fear, they share a lovely first kiss in the hay barn and John complains about having hair in his pants the whole time

basically this fic is also going to be my personal love letter to Masters of the Air Bombardier Howard "Hambone" Hamilton bcs he is my DARLING. basically he's gonna be another stable boy alongside Gale and is just wing manning it the entire fic, subtly telling John how infatuated Gale is and telling Gale to make his move, bcs if he doesn't John's gonna go back to the city and Gale is gonna regret not confessing. also side Brady/Hambone bcs I love them 😔

there's a whole lot of pointing and laughing from both sides, Ham and Gale make fun of John for wearing nice shoes and John makes fun of them for being so uptight God they are so STUPID

and of course at the end John has to choose whether to go back to his cushy life in the city, one where he has rivers of money at his fingertips, or if he's going to stay at the ranch with his love and rough it for the rest of his life

Elias the typa dude to be like “I’m not even that sick…it’s not that bad, honey” while he’s hacking up a lung. He’d admit his weakness, but would be dancing around the fact that he’s actually about to collapse on the ground, the typical “I’ll be fine don’t worry” *is actively throwing up*. He’d be a little clingier too, but it’s disguised as him just wanting to spend more time with you, totally not because he feels bad…

Merrick would absolutely not do jack shit about it at first lmao. Like a lot of men, would refuse needing to go to the doctor/take medicine, very much an “I’m tougher than influenza” type scenario💀. Definitely on board to tough it out, until you (his pride and joy) convince him to get more rest/fluids/etc. A doting partner is his downfall here. Probably the only person alive that could coax him into bed and put a cold rag on his forehead.

Keegan I think would get even less talkative than he already is, his exhaustion would get the best of him since he’s used to staying awake for long periods of time (sniper behavior), because ‘I’ve been awake for too long’ tired and ‘my body is attacking me’ tired are two different feelings, he’d be a little thrown off. Would like to use you as a body pillow if available, and I think he’d let you dote on him unlike Merrick at first. Another Grade A clinger here.

Kick being down with the sickness (shoutout disturbed) would be a lot like your cat when it gets sick. You may think he’s dying, but in about four business days he’ll randomly bounce back. I like to think when he gets sick, like Keegan, he gets very sick, but then he’s over it like it never happened. Would whine for you to cuddle him, but insist he doesn’t wanna infect you. Yaps about the wicked fever dreams he’s been having (they make no sense, he really just needs you to listen, babe)

Rorke, bless his heart, would be so fucking annoying when sick. Like Merrick, has the whole “the flu is nothing, ever been shot before?” mindset💀. Would refuse medication/treatment even if he needs it, typical tough guy shit. He’d have to be knocking on deaths door to admit how bad he feels. SO MUCH has happened after winter break, like oh em geeeeeee—where do I even start?!

Okay, first, let me hit y’all with the small small manifestations because even the tiniest wins deserve their flowers. So, ALL my friends had their classes canceled, which meant I was going to school alone (the audacity). BUT, I decided my day was going to be amazing regardless. Guess what happened? I got a 97% on my chemistry test (yes, girl, academic comeback season is HERE), andddd my chem teacher was sick, so class was canceled right after that. Manifestation? I think YES.

And the glow-up doesn’t stop there. I am NOT the shy girl anymore. I’ve been putting myself out there, making new friends, and let me tell you, I didn’t know I was THIS fun until I started talking more. Like, my personality??? Kinda iconic. I’m genuinely so proud of myself for stepping out of my comfort zone.

NOW, onto the fun stuff: body is tea and MY style is eating so hard this semester. Like, sir??? But it’s fine—I decided in that moment that if he wanted my attention, he’d just have to try harder.

Now here’s where the story gets insane. So, I met up with this girl from my friend group. She’s new at school, and we’re not super close, but she’s sweet. We decided to go shopping, grab food, and just vibe. While we were strolling through the shopping center, who do I see?

Here’s the kicker—my friend KNOWS HIM. Like, how?? She literally called him over, and I was losing it because I haven’t spoken to him since The Snackbar Incident™ (which we do not speak of). Anyway, he walked over, and they started chatting like it was nothing. Meanwhile, I’m just standing there trying not to look like a whole idiot.

We didn’t talk much in that moment because the common denominator (aka my friend) was carrying the convo. BUT THEN. It gets dark (because winter), and we’re all walking home. My friend peels off to go her own way, leaving me alone with HIM.

Me. Him. Winter. Darkness. Just us.

Cue the small talk. It was a little awkward at first, but then we somehow landed on the topic of mangas (for the uncultured, that’s like anime in comic book form). Turns out, we’re both obsessed. I told him about my collection and reached for my phone to show him a pic, but guess what? My phone was DEAD. The betrayal.

Then, out of nowhere, this man says, “Well, if you accept my request on Insta, you can send it to me there.” Like, smooth, right? BUT THEN. He hit me with, “Or you could just give me your number?”

GUYS. I froze. Like, completely malfunctioned. Five seconds of silence. Do you know how long five seconds feels in that kind of situation?? ETERNITY. But, I pulled it together and gave him my number. Like, who am I to deny fate?

That was YESTERDAY. We’ve already been texting (he’s funny, I guess 🌚), and I sent him pics of my manga collection. The vibes are there. Wedding invites will be sent out soon DM me if you want one. ;)

Designed these bad boys to print off, too ⬇️ I finally saved up to get a 3D printer on sale baby 😎 (and shiny ass filament babyy) It took me like half a year to save that 300 bucks but hey I’m not as broke as I once was bc I could even think of saving for something extra like that lmao. So that was absolutely hype as fuck, and calibrating it was a bitch to begin with, so the whole time the job was printing i was just staring at it, watching it go lmao. It’s literally the future. For better or for worse, we’re living in the fucking future man. Took a couple runs to get the scaling exactly where I wanted it, but i fuck w how they turned out. Blender and Cura are wonderful things. Bought the printer thinking maybe I can take on some projects, make some business here and there, make it a worthy investment, feel me?

I read the final comic today too. Spoilers ahead. I’m gonna bring up a lot of specific details/easter egg type shits that I liked. Ok. I want to appreciate:

1) The dedication to Rick May

2) Scout’s mailbox. The way his own family structure has come to mirror the way his mom’s was, the way it was when he was growing up.

3) Spy still doesn’t call himself Scout’s dad to other people, though I’m sure he and Scout both acknowledge it between each other at this point. And he’s shown taking his stinky ass sheisty off in front of everyone casually, which I’m sure he never would have done for most of his life. But he’s come to trust and care for Team Fortress ™️ after all these years. And he seems to have mellowed out. Reprioritized some things.

Scout is being like the father he never had, for his own kids. And he’s forgiven Spy for all that, enough to welcome him into his home, trusting him, allowing him to attempt to make up for lost time, to meet his grandkids. Scout’s forgiveness is honestly wild. I don’t think I would do the same, and *if* I did forgive, I wouldn’t forget. Well, I’m sure Scout hasn’t forgotten either. But Scout’s got a gentler heart than he’ll ever admit, through all that tough talk (and actually beating the shit out of people with baseball bats and stuff lol). And the fact that spy still won’t even call himself the kids’ grandfather.. the way he hesitates.. he probably thinks it’s better at this point if he doesn’t take up the title he doesn’t feel worthy of. He’s so irritating for that, the sad asshole. They really been serving us up some Spy and Scout lore. Comic 6 was the main course and this was the dessert man

4) They kinda acknowledged Pauling as lesbian. She was like “other women are way hotter than me” and then she and scout were like “hell yeah hot women”

5) They definitely acknowledged heavy/medic. Not in an over-the-top way. Just in a the-sweet-side-of-old-man-yaoi-medic-gently-put-his-hand-on-heavy’s-shoulder-and-they-walked-peacefully-away-together kind of way and then a they-brought-their-child-baboon-to-the-swissmas-party

6) Pauling’s conversation with Engie and the way she decided to end things, even for the Administrator. Especially for the Administrator. She had had enough bro. For herself. For the Administrator. For everyone.

7) all the fucking callbacks to previous bits and goofy shit that happened in the previous comics

8) Soldier and Zhanna naming their kids goofy ass America names that I’ve seen in fanon for years

9) the ending Olivia had, and the one Saxton and Maggie had

10) even Merasmus and Tom Jones get to be together

11) love the way the administrator’s story ended tho. She never let go, gaslighting gatekeeping her way to the end. Very fitting for her character. And all the parallel imagery they did for her parts, like the cover pages at the very beginning, the parts with Zeph’s grave, etc. And the artists really drew her well tbh. We saw a lot of her in this comic, way more than any of the others. And even at the end she had such stark features. The pencilers outdid themselves with her expressions, man. Tbh I like the art style for all of them, rly, but especially heavy, the administrator, and spy. Actually fuck that, the way all of them are drawn characterizes them so much. To me, so much feeling is captured in the way their expressions are drawn, especially in comics 6 and 7.

13) Bronislava still got the hots for Sniper, flirting with him at the party with the mistletoe lmao

The release of this comic is a bittersweet kinda thing, I think. They’re finally closing a book that’s been open for so long, one that the fans pushed hard for them to keep open as long as they did. Had we left it, they would’ve let it shut years ago. I couldn’t help but feel they were acknowledging the FixTF2 stuff in one of the final panels, when Scout was thanking the reader for sticking around through “a lot.” Unlike the preceding comics, this one was done 100% for the fans, not for the franchise. It was done for closure. They finally finished for us what they would have just ended unceremoniously years ago.

And the game will probably continue to be updated here and there for a little while, and the bots are fixed for now, but I think anything Valve has continued with tf2 is purely because of fan demand. With this final comic they’ve presented us with an end to accept. That’s just my interpretation of it, but then again it’s not that deep in the grand scheme of things. it’s just a game.

But damn if it ain’t one of the games ever. No other playerbase can hope to match the complexity of the tf-tism.

And hopefully it’ll be around a while longer bc I know damn well the lot of us will still be playing here and there as long as it’s even 1% playable lmao. The fanbase has such a grip on this game fr

3. stef/josh angsty reunion. basically they see each other again, outside of the football field (maybe during offseason or sum??) and they finally talk about everything yk?? just a very emotional fic tho with all the angsty and eventually fluff (and probably smut 😭)

4. another stef/josh EXCEPT it has nothing to do with football and it’s a Hallmark au. like city boy Stefon meets farmer boy Josh out in butt fuck nowhere after Stefon’s plane has to have an emergency landing due to weather or some shit like that. and it’s all the cliches of a Hallmark movie. the small town community, trying to save the local bakery, Stefon not liking Christmas that much, Josh teaching him Christmas is more than just Santa and presents, it’ll even start snowing when the kiss. like i wanna go full out!!

but that ones gonna take a while too cuz it would be fully from scratch and i wouldn’t have anything to go off of (if that makes sense??😭)

5.
