As Sergio's connoisseur, if you have to choose a team for him to be able to race this season, what are his chances? where do you think he could race?

If I dream really hard, I want him in any team Lewis is! I want them to be teammates so bad 🥹

If we talk realistically... none. For the 2025 season I think it's really hard he can get a place, leaving the fact that all the drivers are selected, we always have the mid season. But let me explain why I don't think we can get Checo in an F1 team for this year, team by team:

RedBull: No way they are letting Checo back, it would be admiting they screwed up; also the whole thing between them ended in bad terms (this according to the press and Marko), so obviously they won't even consider this option (it works both ways: RBR won't consider Checo and Checo won't consider RBR).

Ferrari and McLaren: Each team have a very solid pair of drivers, there's no possibility of anything bad happening. I know many think Lewis and Charles will create drama (like Vettel back when Charles started in Ferrari), but I there's no chance for a change of line-up.

Mercedes: Yes, people think Kimi is still a little green for F1, and probably will be changed after summer (I want to clarify that this is not what I want or believe will happen, just what I've seen others theorize); then Checo could be the one taking his place, but nope, Bottas will be the one taking charge, since he's the reserve driver and also has been on the team, he's family. If something happens with Kimi, Bottas would be the one in that seat.

Sauber and Williams: The same as McLaren and Ferrari. I doubt Bortoleto will do badly, he has potential, and besides Sauber is still a very troubled team, they're not expecting big results. Williams could be the surprise though, Carlos always improves the teams he joins, and if for some reason Albon has to be replaced (I hope not), Franco Colapinto is the one taking that place.

Haas: Esteban is a solid driver, and Ollie has done a good job so far, so I think they'll work well and don't have many problems that imply replacing a driver.

Alpine: This is the most sounded rumor lately, particularly for the other rumor of Jack Doohan only having a contract for certain number of races; Alpine needs money, Checo has a lot of sponsors... but I don't think it will happen, Doohan would have to perform really bad, and since it's Alpine... what's the standard there?

Aston Martin: Here it could be as a reserve driver, like Nico Hulkenberg was back in 2021. But Alonso and Stroll are solid this year, the only way Checo could join is as a reserve, and so far there has been not even rumors about it.

Also, something that called my attention was Bottas winks at Cadillac for a F1 seat (before Checo left RBR), and now he said that if the F1 seat doesn't come through, he's going to Indy. So maybe there's something there about the Checo seat in Cadillac for 2026.

Sorry about the long rant anon, but I don't think we'll see Checo in F1 this year. Maybe in WEC if everything goes as the rumors say.

Rating the F1 current teammates based on if they've fucked or if they will.

Haasbands (Nico x Kevin.) Kevin literally said "suck my balls" and I'm 100% sure Nico did. They're too lovely and nice with each other for Nico not to have. Kevin is like, one penalty away from no longer being allowed to be anywhere near a track and he's still committing crimes for Nico.

Lance and Fernando. (Strollonso) These two mfs have the nastiest sex known to mankind and are proud of it. Lance has a thing for dilfs and men like 3 times his age. Lance has too many older men wrapped around his finger oml.

Charlos (Charles x Carlos) These mfs are acting too much like a divorced married couple to not have fucked at least once in their lives. They probably fucked nasty, too.

“I think she has a lot to learn,” he replied. “That kind of driving can get dangerous quickly. Sure, it paid off today, but I don’t believe it’s worth the risk.”

You heard his response through one of your engineers. While the mature thing would have been to stay quiet, you weren’t that PR-trained yet.

“Y/N, any response to your teammate’s comments about your race this weekend?” a reporter asked.

“I think I represent what’s to come in F1. You can adapt or you can retire,” you replied, leaving without taking any more questions.

Any chance of a friendship between you two was over after that. Lewis remained civil at team events, but it was clear he didn’t like you, and you didn’t lose sleep over it. Team briefings were a battle of wills, with him challenging your methods and you defending yourself. Your styles, personalities, and outlooks couldn’t have been more different. Max shook his head. “It wouldn’t have happened. Your styles are too opposite, and with two giant personalities, it’s impossible.”

“I know,” you sighed. “I could’ve handled it better, though.”

“Don’t feel guilty. He didn’t do anything wrong either. He just wanted someone to mentor, and you came in ready to fight.”

“You’re too good to me,” you laughed, nudging his shoulder.

“Of course, you’re my mini-me,” he said, and you both laughed.

By Singapore, the WDC was tight between you, Oscar, and Charles, all within a 50-point margin of one another. You were starting P6 today, having to take a grid penalty for a new upgrade the team had brought, but you weren’t worried. The lights went out, and you made your moves quickly, shooting up to P4 in the first lap. Everything was feeling comfortable; Lando wasn’t far in front of you, and Liam wasn’t close enough behind to make you worry. 

Just a heads up y/n, checo just passed lawson and is coming up, your engineer said to you over the radio and you noted it in your head. A few laps later he was close behind and you started to defend, not having the pace to focus on catching Lando. This was one of your best showings of defense and turn after turn you fended him off. You prepared for the next attack but he lost control, clipping your rear tire and causing you to spin out, You hit him on a spin and his car flipped over yours and over the barrier, landing upside down. Slamming into the barrier he missed, you groaned at the impact. 

Are you ok?

“I’m ok, is checo?” You asked, pulling off your steering wheel. 

No response from him yet

Your pulse quickened, looking over at the RedBull that was smashed to pieces. Pulling yourself out of the car you stumbled to the barriers climbing over, Stewards were swarming the car and held you back when you tried to get closer. You could already hear the sound of an ambulance coming and you were starting to panic. 

“Checo!,” you yelled out over and over hoping he could hear you. Someone was struggling to hold you back but you stilled as you watched the paramedics pull his unresponsive body from the car. 

Everything from that point on felt like a nightmare that wasn’t real. Your brain shut off and somehow you were back in the garage being looked over by Toto. He was saying something but you couldn’t hear him; all you could hear were the sirens and your own voice screaming out. What if he was dead? This was all your fault. He had the pace, he should have passed you but you kept fighting. You replayed the scene over and over in your head. 

Reality came crashing down on you as your eyes met dark brown ones that were filled with worry. 

“Y/n, y/n, come back to us,” Lewis was saying softly and you collapsed into him. He had one arm supporting you and another out to stop others who had started to rush towards you. Sobs racked through your body and you heard someone yell for the room to clear out. Lewis was rubbing your back gently and you were holding on to him tightly.

Eventually he leaned down and swept you off your feet, carrying you into your drivers room. He set you down on the bed in there before going to get you a water bottle to force you to drink. Your sobs had turned to hiccups and you stared at the wall as Lewis checked his phone. 

“He’s okay y/n,” he told you. “Just a concussion and a broken arm but he’s okay.” 

You nodded, letting more tears fall down your face and he wrapped his arms around you again. 

“Let me take you back to the hotel,” he murmured and you nodded, standing up to change into something more comfy. He waited for you by the door and you left with him silently, ignoring the looks of pity you were being given on the way out. 

He walked you all the way up to your room, hesitating as you swiped the key card. 

“Will you text me if you need something?” He asked concerned and you honeslty hadn’t even considered the possiblity of being alone. 

Eyes watering you responded, “please don’t leave me.” 

He nodded and followed you into the room. He started the shower for you, insisting that it would make you feel better and you stood in there for a long time just staring into the void. Finally stepping out you slipped an oversized shirt over your head and walked out into the room where Lewis was laid back on the bed, watching tv. He had changed into just a pair of sweats with a tight fitting shirt. You watched him for a little bit, him not noticing yet. Finally walking over, you felt Lewis’ eyes on you, lingering as he saw your shirt ride up your thigh. 

“Are you okay?” He asked and you looked over at him, hovering by the bed. 

“I just can’t stop thinking about it,” you replied sighing.

“Maybe you just need a distraction,” he said, eyes darkening. Your breath quickened as you debated internally what to do next; you did need a distraction and why not find it in the teammate you weren’t even going to have next year. 

Climbing onto the bed, you closed the gap between you, moving on his lap. You brought your lips to his in a slow kiss and he shifted you off of him and onto the bed, hovering above you. 

“Let me take care of you,” he murmured, kissing down your neck. His hands found the bottom of your shirt and he lifted it up, eyes widening at the sight of nothing being underneath it. “Jesus.”

“Please Lewis,” you moaned out, urging his touch to go lower. Obeying your command he moved down to your core, his tongue darting out making you groan. On Lewis Hamilton, Ferrari, the immediate past, the long-term future, and why Charles Leclerc will remain Ferrari's priority (contrary to popular belief)

Now that everyone's slowly recovering from the CHAOS of Lewis's Ferrari announcement (and one of the best days on the internet for a while), it's no surprise that we're all starting to ask ourselves...well, how exactly will a Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton line up work? Yes, Charles is Ferrari's golden boy, and has been so even as far back as his record-breaking F2 campaign, and yes, every single WDC of the past half a century rates Charles as a once-in-a-generation driver who would likely have at least one successful WDC campaign under his belt if he were given a half-decent car and strategy. But Lewis Hamilton is...well, Lewis Hamilton. His name and his achievements stand in a class of their own. 7x WDC wins in teams with 8x WCC wins across his career. His name is synonymous with, and often even bigger than, the F1 brand. Surely it's a no-brainer in this driver line-up that Charles is bound to be sidelined, especially as Lewis has made no secrets in the past about his hunt for an elusive eighth WDC.

However, I believe otherwise. I think that Lewis coming to Ferrari was not only accepted by Charles, but actively encouraged and furthermore, Lewis will not be given the n1 driver status by the team. Charles and Lewis at Ferrari will be, at best, equals, but more likely the development informed by Lewis and his experience but skewed towards Charles. To truly dive into why, we need to consider several factors including la mafia monegasque inside Ferrari, the curious case of Charles's old teammates, the emerging details of Lewis's contract, and the true value of what Lewis brings to Maranello. Buckle up, grab yourself a drink and a snack, (spare a prayer for @tsarinablogs who proofread this), and I'll see you below the cut. It's going to be a wild ride.

First things first, even though it's signing Lewis Hamilton, we have had confirmation that this move basically passed through Charles for approval and Charles signed his contract extension KNOWING that his teammate would be none other than Lewis, and he signed anyway. I'm sure this isn't a choice that Charles made lightly, so we have to put ourselves in his shoes, examine his reasons.

Charles has been outspoken about relishing a chance to learn from Lewis. And what racing driver worth their laurels wouldn't? In races that most of us can't bear to watch (Charles and Carlos in Monza 2023, and Max and Charles fights in 2022 come to mind), Charles always emerges beaming and giggling. This man lives and breathes for racing right on the limit, and how better to learn that from THE Lewis Hamilton. But just because Charles wants to learn from Lewis doesn't mean (as some seem to believe) that Charles will suddenly become the Ferrari n2. I trust Charles's judgement in this, and trust that Il Predestinato has unshakeable faith that he will be the one fighting for a title, even if his teammate is Lewis Hamilton. For any worried that Charles couldn't possibly hold his own, well, let's take a little look at how Charles has fared in a teammate battles in the past.

Max Verstappen is more often than not, ridiculed and made fun of for having a teammate curse. And while, yes, he pushed Daniel Ricciardo out of the RBR n1 seat, he sat through the rotating door of Pierre/Alex, and Checo hasn't been having the greatest time. But Max's teammates, more often than not, do have very decent carers after. Daniel basically has a guaranteed ride out of sabbatical right back into the fastest car on the grid next year, Pierre is still around with Alpine, Alex is making some serious waves at Williams and is being touted as a possible replacement for Lewis.

By contrast, Charles tends to destroy the careers of those who have been his teammates in Formula 1. I mean, we only need to take one look at the position that Carlos is now in to see it. At the start of 2023, everything was looking right for Carlos. He had a car that suited him and didn't suit Charles (extreme understeer), he even managed to be the only non-RB driver to win a race in 2023. However Charles, with three more non-classified (DNS/DNF/DSQ) races, still beat Carlos in the WDC at the end of the year, not placing ONCE outside the top 5 in races he finished since the end of the Summer Break. Even in a year that was supposed to be geared for Carlos, Charles humiliated him. Now, no team seems to be jumping at the chance to sign Carlos. Indeed his best option at the moment might be to sign with Sauber, try and build the team around him when it becomes Audi and hope that by some miracle in the first few seasons of this new F1 team it can be at least high midfield. But Carlos is in a sticky situation, he's quite old for a prime F1 driver in the current era, especially considering the extremely talented generation just below him. This news has more or less sealed his fate of not being anywhere near a championship car for at least the next 3-4 years.

Even looking back past Carlos to Seb. Make no mistake of it, Ferrari destroyed Seb's career–but Charles, the upstart young Il Predestinato and the pride of Maranello, is also wholly responsible. He refused to roll over and accept the role of easy-going second driver, despite the car and the team being built around Seb, and won not only his maiden grand prix, but won Monza as a Ferrari driver and finished ABOVE Seb in points in the WDC that year.

It's a fact that flies below the radar, but Charles is ruthless when it comes to his teammates. One thing Charles proved while being teammates with Seb is that he's happy to learn from more experienced teammates, then use their own tricks against them. Charles thrives DESPITE and almost BECAUSE of the adversity and ends up outperforming them and often as a result, if not ending their careers then at least setting them back. While it's almost certain that Lewis's career move AFTER this will be retirement, it's not only foolish but it's plain wrong to assume that Charles will try anything other than to beat Lewis in a teammate head to head, all the while watching and observing what it is that makes Lewis Hamilton a 7x WDC.

While we're on the topic of Charles and his ruthlessness, make no mistake, this Fred Vasseur takeover of Ferrari has been entirely orchestrated by Charles. It's pretty much a widely known fact that Mattia was fired to placate Charles, and Fred was brought in on Charles's request. Not only is Fred Charles's old Sauber boss, but Charles also has a cultural advantage with Fred over his present and future teammates that's worth mentioning, him and Fred share a common mother tongue in French and if they're videoed together, chances are they're speaking it. It's a tiny detail, really, but you tend to have unconcious affinity to those who share your native language. Fred is Charles's man at Ferrari, and this is reflected in not only Fred's words surrounding Charles's contract renewal, but also in the secondary driver signings. Not only does the new reserve driver, F2 FDA prodigy Ollie Bearman, seem very friendly with Charles, but the Scuderia's new development driver, who will spending crucial hours on the sim and in testing, is none other than Arthur Leclerc. This is a team that is deliberately being filled with Charles ride or dies, and it's of little surprise that Carlos found himself pushed out of the nest.

So we've established that Charles wants to go up against Lewis Hamilton, that he's bringing Lewis into a team that orbits Charles like the sun. But what's to stop Lewis from doing to Charles what he did to Fernando in 2008, and Nico in 2013? Even with the strength of Charles's conviction and the team Charles has around him, Lewis Hamilton is Lewis Hamilton. Even if Charles and Fred talk in French, Lewis knew Fred first, and has known him for longer. It's already confirmed that Lewis is bringing engineers and expertise from Mercedes and Lewis could mount a challenge to Il Predestinato at Maranello if he wanted to. So why won't he?

It's simple, Lewis's goal is not to win the eighth, it's something longer lasting.

Now don't get me wrong, if Charles does not match Lewis in the car, and the car is dominant. Lewis will win every single WDC for as long as he and Charles are teammates and he will do so without remorse or regret. If Lewis knows he can outperform Charles, he will refuse to bow to the slightest of team orders. Charles has to keep his end of the bargain and do what Nico Rosberg did in 2016–show that he can beat Lewis Hamilton in equal machinery.

To clarify, I'm sure that winning an eighth, especially with Ferrari, would mean the world to Lewis. Not only would he break a world record, but he'd bring the championship home to Schumacher's old team. It would create a legacy to last, his time in F1 forever immortalised in legend. But what about his life AFTER F1, what sort of legacy does Lewis want to leave there?

I think Lewis is ready to retire. His drive for Ferrari is a swan song, the fulfilment of a childhood dream, but we also have to consider what could have made him decide to not end his career with Mercedes. After all, he's been with them since he was thirteen, been driving for them in F1 for 10 seasons (soon to be 11) and he's been outspoken about that team basically being his family. While there are excellent points about Ferrari possibly being dominant under the new regs in 2026 and car development in Mercedes not listening to Lewis, I believe the biggest factor is what Ferrari could promise Lewis for when his career as an F1 driver comes to a close. Not only did Mercedes refuse to make him ambassador, but Ferrari promised him one of the most expensive contracts in the history of the sport and a joint investment fund to help grow Lewis's own projects in the future. Lewis is passionate about having a platform, in having initiatives to further his causes and it makes absolute sense that he wants to focus on these after his retirement. Ferrari was able to promise him security and freedom after the racing is done, while apparently, Mercedes could offer neither.

So if Ferrari isn't bringing Lewis in on this insane with the goal of winning a world championship, what do they stand to gain from it all?

It's simple, Ferrari is Ferrari yes, but Lewis Hamilton is Lewis Hamilton. The best and the brightest in the F1 world will be flocking to Maranello, lining up outside the gates for a chance to work with him, just as they did to Mercedes in the years past. Just as Ferrari can guarantee Lewis long-term success, Lewis can guarantee Ferrari long-term success. Even if Lewis only stays a couple of years, it is certain that the expertise he brings in will stay longer, long enough to secure Ferrari dominance and many WCCs throughout the new regs and maybe even longer than that. On the chance that Charles can't quite match Lewis and Lewis does get his eighth, he'll still almost certainly get a WDC out of it when Lewis leaves, along with a treasure trove of firsthand information as to the driving and the mindset of the most decorated F1 driver ever, information that Charles will carry on into his career and whoever he may face next.

And Charles will carry on, this is the most important piece of the puzzle. This is why Charles obviously relishes having Lewis as his future teammate, no matter what it will bring. At best, Charles can write himself into history by fulfilling the Il Predestinato prophecy in spectacular fashion, not only bringing glory back to Maranello, but doing so with The Sir Lewis Hamilton as his teammate, and cementing his status as generational talent in indisputable fashion. At worst for Charles, Lewis takes the initial glory of the first championship after the drought, but the subsequent championships will be basically promised to Charles. Lewis will likely not stick around for longer than three years, after which Charles will have a team of incredible engineering and strategic proportions with him at the centre for the rest of his career, which could easily last another decade after that.

Lewis Hamilton is Lewis Hamilton, and him and Ferrari have a lot to benefit from each other, but make no mistake, Charles is the present, and the future of la Scuderia Ferrari.

Lastly, although I'm sure most of you have heard this story, I'll leave you with some words by Sky Sports' Carlo Vanzini as to the origin of Charles's nickname, Il Predestinato.

Checo: the dude can take revenge for years of third wheeling (tho in the end of dinner he became the third wheel again), but he can't involve Max in this because he's going to be a dad soon. He takes revenge on Max by attacking him emotionally. Checo decided to get rid of his "lifelong homosexual comfort rival".

But of course, none of that matters when we know exactly who is the real culprit. The second most obvious, and at the same time the least obvious... GEORGE RUSSELL! We should have expected this now after Qatar. Why?

George's motive is almost the same as Checo's: Revenge on Max (and a little bit on Charles).

Surely, you all remember that photo on Mercedes' Instagram:

Many people thought that Mercedes and Red Bull were fighting for Charles' attention (that was just me), but in reality, it was a warning to Max. A warning that if he won't stop what he was doing, something could happen to his Charles. Something happened.

Then, of course, there's the fact that George's original P2 ended up going to Charles.

Thirdly: a post-race interview in which Charles giggled with Max (and Oscar, but we're not trying to offend the kids).

And most, MOST importantly, George is sitting next to Charles (I'm sure George poisoned his sushi)

That's it, the case is solved. Police, arrest him he-... What? Alex? ...Oh, yeah, right. I think he's George's partner in crime. Take him too.

as part of the alkaline series, i felt that this was necessary. i’m going to give a little bit of background on the readers’ relationships with the other drivers on the grid! (i also just love to yap. that’s the real reason!)

alex albon — one of her best friends and teammate. basically like her older brother who is constantly giving unwanted advice. they banter and argue CONSTANTLY. however, she deeply appreciates his ability to be 10000% honest with her at all times. she’s definitely cried on his shoulder numerous times.

he was the first person to accept her to the f1 scene with open arms. he is constantly defending her name and likeness to the media. although he won’t admit it directly, he has a deep respect and love (sibling sort of love!) for her. he wouldn’t want anyone else to be driving alongside him at williams.

✧˖° mercedes ✧˖°

lewis hamilton — they are friendly with one another, but not super close. lewis is super friendly and inviting, she is just a little intimidated by him. he has this powerful aura, and since he’s always been one of her role models, she has a hard time approaching him. the conversations they have had, she’s always been grateful for his encouragement and advice.

sometimes he will make fun of her for being so “american.” (lots of yeehaw, stereotypical jokes about the u.s.) she laughs it off though, usually countering back with her witty humor.

george russell — as we know… these two do not get along. he’s polite, but does not necessarily enjoy her bold and brash personality. he thinks that she’s a little “too much” at times, especially with how opinionated she is on social media. lewis has to often remind him that he needs to be friendlier, considering her contract is up at the end of the 2024 season. and he knows toto is scouting for a new driver, so she may be potential option.

begrudgingly, george will sometimes compliment her. it’s not super nice or over the top, but they are compliments!

✧˖° red bull ✧˖°

max verstappen — he adores her! he has a ton of admiration and respect for her, often complimenting her techniques or good laps. they are somewhat close, checking in with one another during breaks. he is also protective of her likeness, often reminding journalists that her gender doesn’t matter. she’s a worthy competitor and an exceptional driver. (since you know, she’s a contender for the champion slot but we won’t address that yet!) they often do interviews together with the other guys!

he thinks her american slang, accent, and mannerisms are cute. he has a slight crush but is also somewhat scared of her. it leaves him feeling confused yet bewildered at times.

sergio perez — the two are friendly. sort of like coworkers who work in different departments but are cordial with one another. since she’s so young, checo thinks that she has a lot to learn. he does offer advice, but not often. he does believe that she is a talented driver and deserves her spot on the grid. he is well aware of max’s little crush and teases him relentlessly for it.

✧˖° mclaren ✧˖°

lando norris — one of the besties! he’ll often ask her to come on to his livestreams with him during breaks or the offseason. they snap one another frequently, often using the weird and funny filters. he loves to hear about her perspective on the f1 world, considering her position as the first american female driver. they’ve met up a few times between races to hang out or he’ll bring her and alex food to the paddock. he knows that she loves peeled apple slices so sometimes he’ll bring some to her the morning of race day.

he is a firm believer that she’s going to be a first female world champion in the next few years.

oscar piastri — another one of the besties! they’re close but not as close as reader & lando. he also enjoys hearing her perspective on everything f1 related. he’ll tag along with lando quite often to bring food, snacks, and drinks to the paddocks or hang outs. one of the first few drivers on the grid to approach and befriend her. (he couldn’t help but notice how anxious she looked, and he wanted to give her some comfort)

✧˖° ferrari ✧˖°

carlos sainz — one of the besties! is very willing to do funny bits for social media with her, no matter what it entails. he enjoys her fiery personality and her ability to stand up for what she believes in. he’ll often join her, lando, oscar, and charles for hangouts between races. sometimes he’ll list her as an emergency contact because he knows how much she’s on her phone. he teaches her spanish from time to time, just the basics so that she can get by when they’re traveling. (although sometimes he’ll tell her the wrong things on purpose, just because it’s hilarious)

charles leclerc — one of the besties! he will often join her and lando on livestreams, especially if they’re sim racing. he’s very competitive with her and tries to beat her in every game possible. he loves when she helps him with english, as he often has troubles with the language. he is fascinated by the idea of texas roadhouse, and wants to go to one with her, carlos, lando, and oscar sometime. additionally, she’s the first one he goes to when he needs help understanding a specific social media trend. or help buying gifts for his girlfriend.

✧˖° aston martin ✧˖°

fernando alonso — endearingly refers to himself as her padre. loves to tease her about anything and everything, in the way a father would to his daughter. they have lengthy discussions over a variety of topics, ranging from opera music to what they had for breakfast that morning. she has a deeply rooted admiration for him, and views him as a role model.

lance stroll — one of the besties, but not as much as lando or oscar. they’re very friendly to one another, lance’s father often asking her if she wants to reconsider williams and join aston martin in 2025. she usually says smiles and says no, much to his father’s dismay.

✧˖° alpine ✧˖°

esteban ocon — the two do not really speak a whole lot, but they’re friendly and polite! like many of the other drivers, he enjoys seeing a new face and getting to know her!

pierre gasly — very friendly with one another! he enjoys having a fresh new face to the grid, and a new perspective that comes along with it. he’ll often taunt her in french, laughing when she gets frustrated that she can’t understand what he’s saying. he’ll compliment her when she has a good lap or a great race. he respects her boldness and how she is not willing to let the press paint her as someone she’s not.

✧˖° haas ✧˖°

nico hulkenberg — they do not really speak, unless it’s at an event or something press related. she does respect his seniority over the younger drivers! additionally, he respects her and wishes her well before races.

kevin magnussen — a similar situation to nico! they do speak to one another from time to time, often chirping greetings in the morning. he does tease her for really only knowing english, telling her that she needs to “hop on that owl app or something.”

✧˖° alphatauri ✧˖°

daniel ricciardo — the mf bestie. this man knows a little too much about her. besides alex, he was one of the first people to welcome her to the grid with open arms. when he was the third driver for redbull in 2023, he found himself bored often. so, he would wander into the williams paddock, searching for her. since they have a very similar sense of humor, they feed off one another, often laughing so hard they have tears in their eyes. they were often attached to the hip throughout 2023, james having to shoo daniel away at times.

during breaks or at night, daniel would often find himself in her williams motorhome, snuggling or eating food together. they would often pair up to do press events, conduct livestreams, special events, or bits together. due to their close nature, rumors and speculation made their rounds across social media.

daniel deeply respects and admires her, finding her unapologetic nature extremely attractive. additionally, he just found her to be his go-to person, for anything. she was his comfort when he found himself missing racing.

at the end of the 2023 season, daniel found himself in a predicament, as he was falling in love with her. however, as time progressed, and as he signed with alphatauri, he realized that their lifestyle would not provide them a happy and stable relationship. so after her win in jeddah, he knew he had to face the facts and tell her how he felt.

things are a little weird now, but he wants to rekindle their friendship, hoping things will return to the way they once were.

yuki tsunoda — since the two have very similar personalities, they often find it hard to be in the same room together for long periods of time. however, they are polite and cordial to one another. they will tease one another at times, and she does follow him on social media.

valtteri bottas — they do not really speak. when they do, it’s really only at the beginning of the season for press related events. she does respect his seniority, and loves hearing his stories of his time at mercedes with lewis.

zhou guanyu — they do not really speak. it’s a similar situation like valtteri. they do bond over being relatively new to the f1 world. she also loves the pictures he shares of his cat.

Red Bull Racing

Max Verstappen: starting off strong here with my favourite guy of all time. He's Inevitable™. He's fast. He's amazing. He's sweet and blunt and gorgeous and I want everything good for him. He's phenomenal, he moves me, he makes it's so easy to root for him and yet, it's incredibly taxing to be a fan given the British bias in F1 journalism and the fandom, not to mention FIA occasionally losing it's goddamn mind.

Sergio 'Checo' Perez: I'm actually so fond of him. His recent performances leave more to desired, I know, but fuck if he isn't the funniest mf around. Also it's simply a matter of time when he gets back in form [the bias is STRONG here I'm aware]. Also he's an extremely good second driver because I for one think he knows how to handle a team built around his teammate. I don't think any other driver on the current grid would have gelled with Max and Red Bull's structure [and strategy to win] the way Checo has.

Ferrari

Charles Leclerc: Il Predestinato. Saint Leclerc. Curse bearer and curse breaker. He's made to be a dream. He can make the hopeless hope. I know I said Max is generational talent but we're quite lucky to be in this era where we have not one, but TWO generational talents because Charles..... this guy..... you have to be blind to not see the sheer talent and insanity this man holds. Ferrari get your shit together istg. I need a Verstappen - Leclerc WDC fight. IT WILL BE GLORIOUS.

Carlos Sainz: *cough* ok, so, I wanna start off by saying I do think he's a chill guy off-track, ok? I really do think that. He's funny, quick, hot [ofc]. As a driver though. I just. He's good --not as good as F1 media wanted you to believe after his win in Australia and the circumstances surrounding it [WDC material??? Any GP winner now is considered WDC material??? ok]-- but he whines A LOT and I would actually prefer if his aggressiveness on track is directed less at his own teammate and more on their opposition? That would be cool. Plus sometimes he forgets it's not 'yippee we are all friends haha' all the time and inevitably fires up when someone serves cunt on track and he's bearing the brunt of it. I call it the Mclaren syndrome if anyone is interested.

George Russell: HES SUCH A HILARIOUS DIVA!!!! WHO DOESNT LOVE THIS GUY?? He's so entertaining and fun and he is a very good driver! I feel like we still have yet to see all he can achieve and I am very excited to see what happens next.

Lewis Hamilton: Legend. I truly have nothing else to add. Forget his fanbase, forget his tunnel vision when it comes to winning [and this applies to almost every driver, most of all my favourite ones lol], he's seven time world champion for a reason. Since we're asking for my opinions here though, I'll tell you this: anytime he wins I'm happy enough to see it [though I will forever want to see my favs on P1], any time he doesn't I don't care much, if he has a bad race I will give it less notice- basically, he exists in the periphery of my vision. I have been in awe of him for years and admire him but I cannot call myself a fan. One thing I can't help but obsess over is how cunty and unapologetic he is [which is also something that I love about Max].

Alpine

Esteban Ocon: He's a good driver, he's grinded hard to be here in F1 and I love to see it. Also, he's geek! In my books, that's always a plus.

Pierre Gasly: He's actually one of the most unremarkable drivers on the grid currently. Like there's nothing wrong with him and every time he pops up in interviews or whatever he's fun to see but that's about it? Honestly he seems like a cool guy, a driver okay enough but doesn't stand out much to me in anyway skdjhsjd

Sauber

Valtteri Bottas: THE MOST UNDERRATED DRIVER EVER MAYBE????? I love this dude and I'm hoping he can get something better than the tractor he has this season, as unlikely as it is.

Zhou Guanyu: Again, he's a nice enough driver and I really enjoy his vibe but he's crawling on the track in the tractor Sauber cooked up and I don't really know what to think of him beyond what I have stated.

Aston Martin

Fernando Alonso: Anyone who has a problem with Mr. Alonso has a problem with me. This is a strict Alonso Stan account, I do not take criticism and idc what anyone else has to say about him. He's a legend, he's an icon, he's the spirit of F1. I'm quite literally obsessed with him. You know what. Max is the Only One for me BUT if Fernando happened to win a 3rd title........... Did you know that Adrian Newey was recently acquired by Aston Martin [MAKE IT HAPPEN NEWEY].

Lance Stroll: idc. truly idc. some hate this guy, some love him. im at the camp of idgaf. just complete indifference.

Haas

Kevin Magnussen: If you've noticed anything by now, it's that I love love love track terrors. Not the stupid bitches who divebomb everyone all the time and start barking when it happens to them. Nah, the ones who race. I fucking love them. I love Kevin. Hoping against hope that he gets a seat somewhere next year, I will miss him so much. He's incredible to watch. God. I will actually miss him so much. Fuck.

Nico Hulkenberg: Another underrated driver, he's actually quite skillful and entertaining to watch. I just wish he had better luck like 😭

VCARB

Daniel Ricciardo: I miss him. His performances had waned and yeah, it had been time for him to go but I will still miss him and idk man I will admit I wasn't his biggest fan a while back, which had hurt because at some point, years back, he was the main reason why I watched the sport at all. But he had slowly wormed himself back in my heart and fuck. His last race actually made my chest clench ngl. He was absolutely amazing.

Liam Lawson: Consider me sat. I'm SO curious to see how he performs. We know he's got potential but just how far can he stretch?

Yuki Tsunoda: How many times have I used the word 'love' already? I'm sorry but what else can I say? I genuinely love this fella. He's so good and exciting to watch on track and also, plain funny. I wish for everything good to happen to him.

Williams

Alex Albon: infatuated with his billion dollar smile. Now that that's out of the way let me also just say HES SUNLIGHT INCARNATE, also I COULD LISTEN TO HIM YAP FOREVER. Idk I'm actually really happy for him because he seems to be flourishing at Williams and I mean this in the best way possible: he shines at a midfield team. [Also, note me saying he's sunshine doesn't negate just how fucking sly & sassy he can be. I adore that about him.]

Franco Colapinto: MY BELOVED. I perk up like a sunflower under the sun when I see him. He's such an intriguing driver. I detect hints of track terrorism abilities brewing here and cannot wait to see more of it. Also! He's so refreshing to listen to. I know like 80 percent of the grid is no-nonsense and transparent but man idk how to say this. He's a fucking comedian. Not a thought that has any sort of filter at all in that pretty little head of his. Just. No PR training at all here.

Logan Sargent: This boy. He did not deserve even a smidgen of what he had to tolerate. I actually detest the collective treatment from the fandom and his own fucking team that he had to constantly weather. I hope whatever racing division he advances to, he fucking demolishes. I hope he has so much fun winning. I miss him and his reserved smiles.

Special mention:

Oliver Bearman: I mean he raced twice this season, I can't skip over him just like that. Anyways, he's a BABY [< girl who's half a year older than him sjedhbwje] and I WANT HIM TO DO GOOD. He's done relatively well till now in the limited time on track [in F1] we've seen him, we'll have to wait and watch how he does next year. This F2 season for him has been... eh but like I get why.

China 2024 Sprint Race Analysis

I wasn't planning on doing a sprint analysis. However this sprint actually gave us a lot to talk about, and also finally gave an idea of what racing on this track will look like.

I have pretty strong thoughts on what happened between Carlos and Charles, that is at the end if you are less interested in the op ed reporting element.

Sprint Start

The only thing I want to note at the sprint start was Lewis' amazing start to take the lead almost immediately from Lando. Lando then lost grip going into turn 1 which cost him 6 places while he recovered the car. I think the reason he lost grip had more to do with the lack of traction on that turn(we saw many others have issues here) and Lewis taking the better line got the section with the best grip. His inability to defend against Lewis in that first turn cost him the track line and thus the grip and resulted in that big drop in the order. We saw Lewis lose grip in the same turn later in the race so I really think the margin of accuracy for grip on that corner is narrow.

Without the lost of placement so early Lando might have seen a better result, but that loss of grip was very costly.

If anyone knows how to defend a front row start it's Lewis, Lewis' skill really shone into that first turn.

Max and Lewis

Lewis had the lead of the sprint after overtaking Lando until the final corner of lap 9 when Max overtook him.

Max was lagging in the pack at the start of his race, part of the issue was with his battery power setting. Once he fixed that he was moving up the pack very quickly, it was only a matter of time before he was out front.

Max won the sprint with Lewis finishing P2.

Lewis' drive overall was the most impressive this sprint. The WB15 has had a lot of problems and he's been having issues finding the right balance in the car. It's the best result we've seen from this car all season and that is simply due to Lewis' skill on track. Great to see him near the top again. Hopefully this result will have informed a positive direction for Lewis and Merc as far as his car setup goes.

DRS train

The most interesting part of this sprint was the DRS train that went on for essentially 16 laps between Fernando, Carlos, Checo, and Charles.

I have my thoughts on Ferrari's part in this situation below, for now I want to point out that Checo had some really impressive driving here.

While Carlos and Fernando were battling, Checo slid past both of them on the inside of turn 9 on lap 16. This was probably the most impressive move the entire race, just a clean double pass on his part. Checo has been performing great in the RB20 but that was probably the best bit of driving we've seen from him so far this year. That was simply put some solid racing on his part.

Fernando also was not going to be able to battle two Ferraris and a Red Bull. All are faster cars than his own, but he did not give that position up easy to Carlos. He did concede to Checo though, which fair enough, I don't think that Aston could fight the RB20 as it stands.

Fernando unfortunately had to retire his car after a tyre puncture on lap 16.

Ferrari

Charles started P7 and finished P4, while Carlos started P4 and finished P5.

This is the first time this season we've seen what it will look like when Charles and Carlos race wheel to wheel, and it's not looking good(on Carlos' side)

I have more thoughts in the opinion section but having a teammate defend so aggressively against another teammate to the point of causing contact between the cars is unacceptable. Risking damaging both cars is not what any team wants or needs. And the footage makes it abundantly clear that Carlos was the one in the wrong and the cause of the contact.

Carlos had the center line going into 9 on lap 16. Fernando was on the inside but clearly behind. Charles took the outside for the overtake. Carlos then swerved more to the outside crowding Charles off the track. I want to be clear that Carlos had already given Fernando room, and then he moved to push Charles off. This contradicts his statement to the press that they were all fighting and it wasn't his intent. The driving tells a different story.

Charles overtook Carlos on lap 17 going into turn 1. Once he was clear of Carlos his faster pace became clear as he created an immediate gap that Carlos was not going to be able to close.

One thing we saw is that Charles' tyre management gives him the pace advantage over Carlos. If he is within range to overtake that is going to likely come up again in future races. Carlos was not even close at the end there. This overtake did give us a glimpse at what the real difference in pace between them means for the rest of the season.

After a few back and forth's between them Carlos should have conceded. It was clear Charles had the pace and it was just a matter of time before he'd overtake.

I want to point out that Carlos fighting Charles so much might have cost Ferrari a real chance to battle Checo. If he had let Charles pass Charles might have been able to stay within range of Checo and be within DRS. Because Carlos fought Checo was able to create a wide gap so by the time Charles did pass there wasn't a real chance to catch him. So this was not strategically optimal and it can be pinned 100% on Carlos' choices in that turn.

In fact you can see that Charles actually did have the pace necessary to stay closer to Checo. If he would have been able to pass is up in the air, but Carlos did cost Ferrari the chance to at least try to battle Checo for P3. If Charles had been able to get ahead of Checo he had the pace to keep him behind, or at least have a chance at doing so.

Also this serves to highlight that Charles' tyre management is on par with the RB20 or at least not far off, Carlos' tyre management is much further off the pace.

Charles finished P4 in the sprint with Carlos finishing P5.

Data and Footage Analysis

So the data is pretty clear on this. I wanted to show because it supports my argument later and it also demonstrates the difference in tyre management between the two drivers.

Charles' pace was better even in lap 16 when he was stuck behind Carlos. Once he is clear of Carlos after his pass on the first turn of lap 17 the real difference in pace between them becomes clear. Charles had more than a second on Carlos in all remaining laps. This is very likely due to his tyre management. The large difference here also highlights why Carlos should have let Charles pass because this pace difference is not something to fight over. Strategically Carlos should have let Charles pass smoothly, but Charles overtook anyway because his pace was not something Carlos could fight for long.

Note: DRS Charles got from Carlos at the beginning of lap 17 accounted for about 1 - 2 tenths of pace, the rest was all Charles increasing that gap himself.

Now I want to just look at the move from Sainz going into turn 9 on lap 16. He claimed he needed to give Fernando space. Charles said he was being too aggressive and forced him wide. Let's see who's version of events the actual footage supports.

Leading into the turn we can clearly see that Fernando is behind. Carlos has the inside line, Charles has the outside.

Here they are entering turn 9. There is clearly enough space on Carlos' inside for Fernando already. Charles clearly has the outside line.

Here you can see that Carlos has moved further outside. Now since he'd already given room to Fernando the only reason for this would be to fight Charles. And once again Fernando clearly behind. And I will say that some battling between teammates is acceptable. But what happened next did not fall into that category of acceptability.

Here is where Carlos continued to force Charles wide. Also where they got way too close and made some contact.

And here is the final result going into that turn. Carlos has forced Charles completely off the track, and he even has two wheels off the track. This was not about leaving space for Fernando. Does Fernando need the entire track? No. This was Carlos forcing a teammate who had better pace off the track because he could not actually fight his pace.

Either Carlos did this on purpose, which is unacceptable. Or he is telling the truth and didn't realize what he was doing, in which case he is admitting to extremely poor driving on his part.

Either version of events is not a good look for Carlos.

He was overtaken by Charles easily in the next lap. He just did not have the pace and should not have defended this aggressively against his own teammate.

Next I will be sharing my more opinionated thoughts on things relating to Ferrari.

Charles VS Carlos

I want to get into some of my thoughts on this whole battle we saw between Carlos and Charles because I think it was emblematic of the way thing shave been going at Ferrari and with their teammate dynamic on track.

This was unacceptable on Carlos' part. It's that simple.

I have listened to what both drivers have said about the overtake, and the battle we saw between them. I have looked at the footage from many different angles. And Carlos is in the wrong here. Not only that but I do not see how this kind of "racing" from him is going to be good for his career considering he still does not have a seat lined up for 2025.

The fact is Charles was faster. And that wasn't something Carlos was willing to accept.

And this level of battling a teammate, especially to the extent you cause contact and force that teammate off the track(to the extent that lap time had to be deleted) is not acceptable.

I will say that a little back and forth between teammates on track is fine. That wasn't what we saw. This was not only too much fighting of a teammate it was also poor sportsmanship(touching, and pushing off track)

Charles let Carlos pass because he was faster in Japan. Carlos does not do the same. It is this kind of thing coming from Carlos that is a prime example of why Ferrari did not re-new his contract.

Fighting to the point of causing contact between teammates is too far, you can see him move further to the outside even when it's clear he's given Alonso enough space. He was fighting Charles and caused contact. A driver who does not have the pace should not be fighting their teammate so extensively that they cause contact. They are on the same team, risking damage to both cars is again, unacceptable.

As seen above in the data Charles' pace at this point was significantly better than Carlos, he was really showing the difference between them in tyre management. If Carlos had the pace given he was in front after Perez passed then he would have had a larger gap to Charles and Charles would not have been able to catch him. Even fighting "dirty" he was unable to stop the inevitable.

When there is this great of a difference in pace between teammates, a pass is what should happen. Carlos would have been able to tell by the second time Charles caught him that Charles' pace was much better. That should have been his signal to move. He didn't.

Furthermore we hear on team radio exactly how frustrated Charles was over this. He wouldn't have been anywhere near as mad if this was a first time thing, it isn't, and again this display from Carlos is a reason that Ferrari are not keeping him.

I hope Ferrari make it clear that this is not the kind of thing that can be allowed to happen in the future. Risking damage to both cars is not something any team can afford, especially a top team when they are trying to seriously compete with Red Bull.

Charles did everything he should have done. He had the line, but was forced wide. He had the pace and was aggressively fought with.

Final Sprint Thoughts

This was actually one of the best sprints. Lots of action and we saw some really solid racing from a lot of top drivers.

I hadn't planned on doing regular sprint analysis, but if they are all packed like this I might have to. If enough noteworthy things happen in a sprint I'll do it again.

the cameras, the microphones, the tape recorders, the iPhones, and many other devices were shoved in your face the second you stepped into the paddock. nobody seemed to care about Charles red pants or that Lewis was shirtless, everyone cared about you and max.

it’d been a week since your first win, and exactly two days since the article was released. you’d have a lot to talk about in your drivers meetings, and you dreaded that moment more than the cameras in your face.

an audible groan escapes your lips as fans and interviewers trip over your feet, you’re so lucky the Red Bull hospitality is just feet away from you. home sweet home, you could relax and watch them all flock around other drivers in the comfort of your inn.

however, you see those blond little hairs in the window. they seep out from under his hat, he’s throwing his head back most likely in laughter, and it pisses you off. how can he be laughing in such a serious time? why couldn’t he have just called instead of trying to turn your life into a nightmare.

walking up those steps you’re thankful the cameras don’t follow, because when you whip open that door a very noticeable silence falls to the room. suddenly, you don’t feel at home anymore.

you watch the eyes all fall on you, it’s like a slow motion scene from a movie. where the camera pans to the disgusted looks, and the new girl at school nervously looks around for a place to sit in the lunch room. that’s how it feels right now.

his eyes are the only ones that don’t move. they are glued to the Aussie in front of him who’s a good distraction.

you find an open table and take the seat throwing your things into the chair opposite of where you’re seated. the noise seems to pick up again, and your eyes search everywhere for a comforting face, maybe someone who will talk to you, but nobody budges. everyone must be on his side.

and it’s easy to figure why they are. he’s a two time world champion, and he’s a man. everyone you ever knew had turned against you in the matter of a week. well fuck that, you think to yourself, two can play this game.

you pick up your bags and storm out the hospitality going to a place you never thought you’d be.

“y/n?” he looks up from his computer, dark eyebrows furrowed with confusion, “darling, what can I do for you?”

“I want work with you,” you pause watching him cross his arms over his chest, he leans back into his chair nodding for you to continue, “I want to drive for Mercedes.”

no contracts were worked out just yet, things were still very under the radar with frequent texts and calls between Toto Wolff and others, but the head master of Red Bull, Christian Horner, had all of no clue. not until this morning.

“so can you confirm y/n is not staying with Red Bull?”

Christian’s face contorts, he laughs a little shaking his head, “no, we plan to keep y/n. we just told max he needs to get over himself and hopefully they will work things out. I know they will.”

Toto laughs into his microphone, “maybe if you had taken better care of y/n there wouldn’t be rumors of her departure.”

the room falls utterly silent. the other team principals are no longer of interest when the interviewer turns to the head hunch of Mercedes, “do you care to elaborate, Toto?”

“I think what I’m saying is obvious. we hope things work out, but if not? we’ll be waiting in the wings.”

the drivers conference is awfully uncomfortable. you’d found a seat in the corner of the room towards the back. yuki tsunoda is seated two seats away, his legs barely touching are an awful nice distraction to the world around you.

he’s seated with Charles and checo, his rumored new teammate. when he walked into the room, all the drivers congratulated him on his successful previous weekend, and not a soul even acknowledged your presence. this would be your falling out of formula one, all because max verstappen took everyone you ever loved and turned them against you.

why did he get to win? why did he force you into the corner? none of it was fair.

the room clears after the two hour long meeting. every inch of you is sore from the uncomfortable chairs as you stand up waiting to be the last one out.

“hey,” Charles moves from the line out of the building to where you stand, “congratulations on last weekend, you put a good fight.” he taps your arm gently and adds one more thing before he goes, “Mercedes is lucky to have you.”

the words perk his ears up. you can see the heat against the nape of his neck rise as he stops in his tracks and turns to face you, it’s the first time in two weeks since he’s looked you in the eyes.

you can feel all the words and air be lifted right out of you. his eyes are like title waves ready to meet land, and somehow it still makes your chest warm. he still makes your heart swell about ten sizes even if you haven’t spoken in what feels to be years.

“Mercedes?” he asks. the words feel so foreign and unfamiliar to his lips.

“well I’m not wanted at Red Bull anymore, so what’s the waste?”

he snorts out a laugh shaking his head. there you go again, he thinks to himself, trying to make him feel pitty towards you. well it certainly won’t work this time.

“well then go to Mercedes. I don’t want you as a teammate anymore if you’re just going to bail after one bad night.”

his bitterness was like a slap to the face. you can feel your heart ache, the pit of your stomach twisting as you swallow back the tears attempting to break through.

“then I don’t want you as a boyfriend anymore, because you can’t seem to apologize.”

“fine,” he says making his way to the door of the conference room, his hand rests on the handle just about to leave before he adds one more thing, “I never loved you in the first place, and I did want you gone so look at that, I guess I do win after all.”

IN MY PERSONAL OPINION (putting this here so don't you dare bitch about it)

F1 should stop pushing the 1st and 2nd driver narrative so much and go back to actual competitiveness within the teams. It's all team orders this prioritizing one driver that when they should just put out a team of two drivers capable of fighting both the other teams and each other. It annoys me to no end, drivers like Checo, Oscar, Mark, Bottas etc. deserve to have their side of the team prioritise them and not be told to just shut up and take the scraps the team throws at them.

Yes there will probably always be a more dominant driver in a team, I'm not saying ignore that, but I'm saying have that driver race their teammate. If they can't even deal with that then tough luck, but it shouldn't mean we're disadvantaging their teammate to make up for it????

I've said it before, and I'll probs say it again a million times, I hate team orders, they should be forbidden. I want infighting in the teams and I think team rivalries should just be part of the sport.

Drivers like Max, Lewis, Michael or Seb dominated over their teammates and they would've (again imo) won even without the occasional teamorders, which just shows it can be done.

If I hear "but they have to maximize points for the team" or "but they have to support X driver in his fight for the championship" I will lose it. The team gets the same amount of points no matter who's in front most of the time. And sure the drivers should be supported in their fight, I fully agree with that, having their teammates do a bit of defensive driving etc., but NOT BY COMPLETELY THROWING ASIDE THEIR TEAMMATE.

Why is it so hard for teams to just treat drivers equally and give them the same support, obviously fitted to their situation, without disproportionately advantaging one of them???

And before people start saying that's not what the teams are doing, first of all that's still the way it's portrayed to us considering how people speak about drivers like Checo, and second of all just look at teams like McLaren, which yes has brought this rant on, who didn't even manage to not treat at least one of their drivers as an afterthought before they even got the balls to commit to a first and second driver dynamic.
