#I just really like the idea of the contestants thinking they're ready

Otto going full Joe Bastianich is something I didn't know I needed until now. The funny thing is none of them have ever had gourmet food which makes their critiques even harsher, because even the average schmuck whose only ever eaten stale bread and nearly rotting vedgetables can tell the cooking is shit and would rather smash the plate than take another bite.

The absolute peak of comedy comes when the tributes convince the producers to do a District Cuisine challenge where the contestants have to work with produce taken from the districts' food supplies. They also get some of the produce the districts improvised like insects (pretty universal, though specific insect types depend on district) and tree bark (D7, specifically) and small rodents like rats (predominantly D9 and D10). Basically, everything the Capitol never wanted to eat + a lot of nearly-rotten food. The contestants spin a wheel to get their assigned district and when the produce is revealed, all of them cry. It gets even worse when they're convinced they made the best dish possible, only for the judge panel to explain to them how they did everything wrong and meticulously detail what they should've done to make it edible. The producers then ask the tributes to cook something up from their own cuisine, which they do, and the Capitol chefs are shocked to discover all of these kids can cook.

Some sprinkled in angst: The judge panel consists of Bobbin, Velvereen, Treech, and Coral. Even when it's not about food from their own district, they can come up with ways to make it beter on the spot, highlighting their creativity when it comes to food, and when they serve up their own dishes all of them except Velvereen state they usually don't have enough time or produce to make dishes "this large" (the portions are less than half of what all other dishes were so far). Treech says he usually has to eat his food raw because they're not allowed to use the wood they chop all day and most wood he can find outside can't be used as firewood, but this is a collection of the bites he makes for his family the few times he has the opportunity (using the pizza oven to mimic cooking over an open fire). Coral explains how she used heated rocks to cook her dish since they don't have stoves over in the districts so they've improvised (since seafood can only be eaten raw when extremely fresh) and in her totally humble opinion it tastes much better that way.

Everything they say creates a clearer picture of just how bad things have gotten in the districts, not helped by the fact that now that they're judging foods they have actual expertise with, the tributes do not hold back. Even Treech, who is the only judge on the panel who bothers sugarcoating, is not holding back all that much. He's still the nicest since he's not actively insulting the chef, but he's certainly not giving out many compliments no matter how much he tries. The closest he gets is a weak "it's edible..." while physically cringing. His words are the hardest to take for the contestants since he's trying to be nice. He's the last judge to give his critiques too, so the contestants have three rounds of being absolutely obliterated verbally and then a finishing move of "it's just... disappointing. I was hoping for something better :(" which hits so much harder when juxtaposed with the straight up savage roasts of the other three. The attempt at being nice but finding nothing to compliment is just more salt in the wounds to the contestants lmao.

As I fall back into my Hell’s Kitchen phase, I’m rediscovering my love of the challenges and now have a TBOSAS AU in this direction.

The mentors lean on the “entertainment” part of the games to convince the president that in order to make their tributes more interesting for the audience they should do reality TV style things for longer than a week so the mentors can properly do their assignment. This leads to the tributes being guest judges for the Capitol’s annual cooking competition for aspiring chefs.

There’s several tribute combinations for the guest judge panels and it’s hilarity every time due to their vastly different personalities, which ends up causing the Capitol to realize they’re not a monolith and should be treated as individuals, which gets the games cancelled. I’m not here for all that though, I’m here for the various hilarious ways in which they judge both good and bad dishes.

On one side you have Lamina, Lucy Gray, Jessup, Treech, Sheaf, and just the generally Nice tributes who are very generous with their compliments and try desperately to be polite and kind while judging utterly awful dishes, basically looking for anything they can even weakly compliment while trying to keep the disgust off their faces.

You have the Reaper and Marcus types who don’t actively look for things to criticize but don’t bother sugarcoating it and find every opportunity to slip in comments about the food the Capitol forces the districts to eat, especially Reaper. He makes sure to remind them at every turn that the people who make the food happen are the ones being starved over people who’ve never done actual work in their life.

And then you have Bobbin, Brandy, Panlo, Coral, and Mizzen, who gleefully tear into every dish they’re presented with and absolutely shred them with roasts and the most creative insults known to man. Their goal is not to judge, their goal is to see who can make one of these students cry the fastest. The best combination panels are a nice tribute and a savage tribute, because you get combos like this:

Jessup: oh f- uh, the presentation was nice!

Bobbin: the food’s shit though.

Jessup: ahahaha well the meat’s cooked okay.

Bobbin: it’s dryer than my mouth after a factory shift in a month’s long drought.

Jessup: it could’ve been worse…

Bobbin: I’d take another supply cut famine over ever having to out this anywhere near my mouth ever again.

Or:

Treech: takes a bite, face visibly contorting while he tries to hide his reaction while holding in the urge to spit the food out

Treech: it’s… uhm- it’s… interesting…

Brandy: spits out food it’s fucking horrible! Is this a new torture method or something? The amount of salt in this dish would make the ocean cry!

Treech: I didn’t wanna say it like that…

Brandy: you got better words, Mr poet?

Treech: … the… the salmon’s not… rotten…?

Brandy: oh spine up and just say what you really think you coward!

Treech: but I don’t wanna be mean :(

Brandy: turns to contestant Wow, even he doesn’t have anything positive to say. I’m genuinely impressed at your incompetence. No points, back in line!

I think post ii18, the fragile contestants are much more cautious, which in turns causes:

balloon to consider covering himself in resin for a week or so (and he still thinks about it every now and then)

all the food objects to check the dates on the food they eat more thoroughly so they don't "catch" the mold

Oh oh oh, the idea that food objects can catch mold from eating moldy foods is really interesting!!! I like that a lot!!!!!^^^^ They would need to be quite careful, especially with the rather precarious food situation they'll be in now that there are no pick-nix tables, or orange trees, or like any other easy ways to get a lot of food.

OH Painty is mortified!!! They saw all of their friends die one after another, they would be very paranoid and VERY protective of Fan, Testy, and especially Lightbulb. Even if they're not doing something risky. They could be making pancakes and Painty would be alert and ready to prevent death!!!!!

Jungkook can hear as Hana takes the headset from his friend, and her light vocals replace her boyfriend's much deeper ones.

after that night of intense emotional connection, i feel like the dynamic would shift slightly. especially if they were to spend more time together outside of their usual battle training.

wyll is no doubt smitten from the start, finding githyanki novel despite their savage history, and being a bit concerned due to being a monster hunter. but the more time he spends with lae'zel (especially after being propositioned almost immediately after meeting) the more he sees beyond just what she was brought up to believe.

he would want to court her in the traditional faerun way, but would have no idea if that's something she could fathom or even want.

however in my mind lae'zel absolutely falls first. because she is so driven by the physical, it's so strange for her to grow so attached to wyll without having ever slept with him. that even a kiss is something he holds out on until wyll is ready, despite her being very forthcoming about the many nasty things she wants to do to him beyond a mere peck.

but it's the strongest emotional connection she has ever had. it dizzies her how he is always on her mind, she wants to monopolise his attention, find any excuse to put her hands on him unrelated to sexual intimacy. she always looks out for him in battle, and swells with pride when he utilises ancient githyanki teachings to win.

she wants him so damn bad!!! but she knows it has to be long term, which contests with the idea of freeing orpheus and her kin.

What are your thoughts on Sue in the current chapter? She usually says she dislikes drama but participates in it. (No shade towards her. Especially since they’re all teenagers and sorta end up in these situations)

Do you have any thoughts or analysis on her here? Abbey too? Since she’s more easygoing while Abbey has a genuine grudge here

I think people misunderstand that disliking drama doesn't necessarily mean you're exempt from gossiping about drama, let alone drama you happen to be involved with. They're mutually exclusive actions. Sue's aversion to drama is like most people's in how it's an unwanted distraction that requires your attention and time that you'd rather spend elsewhere, where resolving it more often than not requires a variety of skill to masterfully navigate to a good resolution. You have messes, and this story has no shortage of them especially when the kids refuse to listen or don't yet have the means or knowledge to move past an issue. The messes aren't navigated well and become larger messes (hellooooooo The Play). So it should be understandable why she feels this way to the idea of drama. Who seriously wants drama???

Still, that doesn't mean she's averse to gossip either and as we've seen she's very keen on a little gossip.

Anyway, there's nothing really new here that I feel we haven't learned from a later chapter to do analysis on. Behind closed doors is a new chapter but it's an event that happened between Golden Hour and Dial Tone. I don't feel a deep analysis is worth it because it doesn't really add anything new particularly to Sue or Abbey. It's more to deal with correcting the flow in the story on things we have figured out to give better explanation into Paulo's behaviour during Volume 6 after Dial tone -- there being another motivator than just Abbey and the fight Paulo had with Daisy over the phone in Golden hour as reasons why Paulo is avoiding her, and why despite his talk with Matt's in the same chapter he reverted to his womanizing persona.

As far as Sue, Abbey and maybe Stacy are all concerned, with perhaps looking at the whole group by extension, there is more supporting perspective and an understanding of a conclusion I feel a lot of people might have made about Paulo's relationship with the circle of friends in that he's largely tolerated (excepting David). I feel you'd be able to pick up this notion quite early in the story just by observing Paulo and his antics objectively, but where we got an impression that the seniors in his other circle largely pity him as we read in Sugar Substitute, we get confirmation of his relationships to many of the other characters.

Depending on how this chapter ends it could give greater meaning to some of the choices Paulo makes in later chapters, like maybe further justification why he was ready to throw Mike under the bus in Double Down for a chance with Lucy for instance (though I think there's enough there to show how desperate he was for her regardless).

But yeah, Sue can't help but not gossip because Paulo is her drama -- she has to deal with him on a day-to-day basis and they're in close proximity while they're at the school. He's a debilitating presence who belittles her and makes fun of her hobbies, and there's very little that she can do about it. I feel a lot is relying on Paulo to be less of a dick than usual.

I was going to make a comment how Paulo had backed off on Sue but I had momentarily forgotten about Popularity Contest. Behind closed Doors is a fantastic chapter and does a fantastic job of making Stacy trip over herself in the future.

Your kid is understanding and would not cuss inside the household. They would only cuss whenever they're outside beating the shit out of people.

Taehoon would basically be proud of them. And one time they accidentally called Taehoon dad and Taehoon smiled.

Even though your kid was a Taehoon Jr. They were still respectful and kind it's a good thing you were their parent.

He would also use the kid as dumbells and your kid is enjoying it.

He almost can't wait to see Taehoon everyday.

"Stop being loud kid."

TD REBOOT EP: 5-6 SPOILERS

first may I just say I LOVE Bowie's elimination! He left in pride, an intact character AND kept his relationship (something that not all tdi contestants can say they had) BUT IT THEORY TIME!

So what if next episode Raj takes what Bowie said to heart and is REALLY trying to win after this. We ready know that MK and Juila won't stop cheating if they can (mostly Juila, MK had enough of a beating to stop) And they're still in the game. Know TD they would want them to get their comeuppance and currently everyone but Raj and Wayne think Bowie started the idea.

Also remember when the hockey bros were booted but we still saw/heard of things of Raj so we can get more Rajbow. That gives me a feeling that Raj wouldn't simply give up or move on from something that happened last episode; so he's definitely going to take Bowie's boot personally. Mostly like motivation.

So I can see the next episode Raj is sulking around because of Bowie's elimination, Wayne is trying to get his buddy hopes back up while Juila and MK take this as prime time to spit those two. The hockey bros see what they're trying to do and Raj being the strategist thinks of a counterattack. Especially Raj won't forget what they did and I think this is when we'll see more of Raj's mean side like we saw in the bros introduction first season.

Devin's Dude Ranch: Episode Seven

*the episode opens with a shot of Devin in her bedroom. she's getting ready for the cocktail hour event that's about to begin*

Devin (voice-over): "I'm really nervous for tonight. It's the first elimination, and going into tonight, I honestly have no idea what I'm going to do yet. Some of the connections are stronger than others, but there are others that aren't where I want them to be at this point. So, there's a lot riding on this Cocktail Hour."

*the next shot opens with the contestants lined up in front of the show's host, Venessa Jeong, and Devin.*

Venessa: "Welcome to the first Cocktail Hour, everyone. The purpose of tonight's event is to have some time with Devin before the elimination later tonight."

Venessa (continues): "Unlike other group events, Devin will be approaching you first. So, be patient. But, also make sure to use your time with her wisely because this will be the last chance you get to convince her why you should stay. Otherwise, enjoy. And I'll see you all at the Rose Ceremony."

*Venessa leaves and the group begins to mill about the space as Devin approaches the first contestant*

Devin: "Hi, Albert. Do you want to go somewhere more private to talk?"

*Albert smiles at her nervously*

Albert: "Absolutely."

*Devin leads him to a secluded nook*

Devin: "So how are you? We haven't gotten to spend a lot of time together this week."

*Albert nods solemnly*

Albert: "I know. It's my biggest regret right now. I wish I had made more of an effort during the group date. No excuses. I should have tried harder."

Devin: "I appreciate that. Because we don't have a lot of time here together, so if you're serious about this, you're going to need to step up," *she looks up at him and smiles* "And I want you to. Because I feel like we have a good connection."

*Albert's expression remains serious, but he's fighting a smile*

Albert: "Absolutely. I want to be here. You're amazing and I definitely see something developing between us."

*Albert then takes Devin's hands and looks into her eyes*

Albert (continues): "You have my word, I'm in this 100%. I will do better."

Devin: "Okay. Thank you. That's what I wanted to hear."

*Albert kisses her hands*

Albert: "I mean it."

Devin (teasingly): "You better."

*Albert laughs*

Albert: "I do. I want to walk away from this as your man."

Albert, in diary room: "I really *bleep*ed up this week. I guess I rested on my laurels because our earlier connection was so strong and didn't push as hard as I should have this week. *Bleep*, I hope I didn't screw this up with Devin. Talk about an epic failure..."

*the next shot opens with Devin approaching Stan*

Devin: "Hey cowboy. You want to get out of here?"

*Stan grins*

Stan: "I've never wanted to hear those words more in my life."

*as Devin is leading him away, she says:*

Devin: "Calm down. We're just going to have a chat."

*Stan chuckles*

*once they're in the library, Devin says:*

Devin: "Stan, you've said it yourself that you know we don't have a lot of time to get to know each other. And because it's elimination night and I really like you, I need to completely honest here. I'm not sure if our connection is romantic at all or if we just make really great friends. Not to sound like a high-school girl, but do you even like me?"

*Stan rocks back on his heels and looks stunned for a moment*

Stan: "Whew, what a surprise! I apologize, Devin, if I've done something that's made you feel that way. Truth be told, I'm crazy about you. I think maybe part of what you're pickin' up on is hard it is for me to be in here with all these other guys. It gets me in my head a bit."

Devin: "Wait. You're holding back because you're jealous?"

*Stan rubs the back of his neck*

Stan: "Well, in the plainest of terms, yessum."

*Devin takes a step closer*

Devin: "Do you want to stay? Even if it means being in here with them?"

Stan: "Yes. After our date last night, I realized I was going to fight until the bitter end because ending up with you would be worth all the blood, sweat, and tears."

Devin: "Well, I hope it doesn't come to that..."

Stan: "If it did, it would still be worth it."

Devin: "You really feel that way?"

*Now Stan takes a step closer"

Stan: "I do."

Devin: "Pinky swear?"

*Devin winks and holds out her pinky*

*Stan grins and links his pinky with hers*

*he then pulls her against him and locks her in a sweet and tender kiss*

Stan, in the diary room: "She thought I didn't like her? That one hurts me. Especially when I am crazy about her. She's an amazing woman and I'd be one lucky S.O.B. if she were to give me a chance after this. Getting to kiss her sure was nice, though. If I go out, at least it will be on one hell of a high note. I sure I hope I don't get sent home though."

*after leaving Stan, Devin now approaches Houston, who grins as soon as he sees her*

Houston: "Good evening, beautiful."

*Devin returns his smile and blushes*

Devin: "Would you like to have our talk?"

Houston: "I would love to. Lead the way."

*Devin takes Houston into her room. they stand in front of a roaring fireplace*

Houston: "Watcher, you look...breathtaking."

*Devin blushes again*

Devin: "You clean up pretty nice yourself."

*Smiles and glances down at the floor*

Houston: "Thank you."

Devin: "So, I think I know the answer, but I'm going to ask anyway. Do you still want to be here, Houston?"

*His eyes burn into hers*

Houston: "Absolutely. Wild horses couldn't drag me away. I know what I want. And what I want is you."

Devin: "Oh..."

*Houston now grabs her at her waist and pulls her against him and begins slowly kissing along her neck, making his way up to her ear where he whispers something the microphones can't pick up. Devin giggles in reply. they then share an intense moment of eye contact before he kisses her passionately.*

Houston, in diary room: "I've never been so sure of anything in my life as I am about how I want to be with Devin. Every moment I spend with her feels right, and every second without her feels like agony. I don't think there's any reason for her to send me home tonight, but if she did, my world would be shattered."

*the next shot opens with Devin walking over to Milo*

Devin: "Hi, Milo. Are you ready for our chat?"

*Milo looks visibly ill*

Milo (squeaks): "Yes."

*Devin leads him onto the front porch*

Devin: "Milo. I want to be completely honest with you, okay? I do like you, and I do see some potential between us. You're a very sweet guy, which is rare, believe me. But, I do worry that we're in different places in our lives. And I know you're only a few years younger than me, but at times it does feel too young. Those are my main concerns. What are your thoughts?"

*the camera cuts to Milo who looks paler than usual*

Milo: "I, uh," *swallows hard* "I guess I understand. I mean, I've made pretty poor choices in how I've approached you this whole competition. That's my fault. And I apologize for all of it. I guess my inexperience in the romance department is really showing, huh?"

*Devin smiles at him reassuringly*

Devin: "I've never been in a serious relationship, either. But, yes. Poor choices have been made and I'm afraid it's gotten in the way our connection. I feel like they've gotten you in your head and things aren't where I want them to be between us. But, do you want to be here, Milo?"

*Milo looked in her eyes pleadingly*

Milo: "More than anything."

*Devin nods, her expression contemplative*

Devin: "Thank you for being honest with me."

Milo: "I will always be honest with you, Devin."

*He then takes her hand and kisses it.*

Devin, in diary room: "So far tonight has been one of the most difficult of this whole experience. I did get some clarity with some of the guys, but others, I feel like it just made things more confusing. I still don't know what I'm going to do. Watcher, what the hell am I going to do?"

courtney and spencer are long-time childhood friends, and they've been making music together since they were like. 7 and 11 respectively. spencer met shayne and damien in college and they've been in a band ever since!!

if you walk into any of the dressing rooms of every member of the chosen, they are listening to such different music to get ready it would actually make your heads spin. out of their botb fellow contestants, damien is most likely to listen to conventry (bc he's literally never been wrong), courtney is bumping kolivition, spencer is playing some classic smosh, and shayne is listening to ftc!!

i have in my brain what all of the songs are like. About ya know. so for example damien did the backing vocals for augustus and i have this idea in my brain that like. augustus IS this universe's manifestation of the character augustus. so like i think all of the chosen has a hand in writing the songs and damien co-wrote this one and it's just like. about a lonely lost kid who's awkward and doesn't fit in. like obviously it's a much less joking interpretation and more of a serious one but anyway it's still about him. is this making sense? i have No idea anymore!

courtney has also done some co-/backing vocals, and is the most likely to be featured on a track! she's featured on nuclear rain, and she also does a fun lil harmony for 'shoot dood.' shayne is the only one that has not sung and their fans keep begging but he REFUSES

'down bad' is their first like... love song? although it's technically just about how embarrassing being vulnerable and being in love are. smth smth the overwhelming ordeal of loving someone.

anyway it also opens with a snippet of a voicemail from kiana to spencer (probably from like years ago not about anything relevant) telling him to 'get up girl'. kiana is Not here for the fame, in fact she would rather no one knew who she was but unfortunately life be like this. after the ep drops the media goes fucking Nuts with rumors of whether or not they're dating.

they have fans who love the whole band but the amount of damien girls is of course insane. the other three mock him relentlessly for it. there is an entire instagram dedicated to updates about his hair.

lisa has put spencer on twitter timeout several times especially from the band's twitter bc he is Terrible for publicity. the order of worst to best for tweeting are: spencer, shayne, courtney, and damien

courtney takes selfies at EVERY live show they do; they have a collage of them as their phone background!!

"up & coming" is like a netflix reality show about small bands really trying to make it, and they were featured after kiana got in contact with the showrunner. it basically followed them as they made their third ep and interviewed them and people they know. it's very much a 'before they were famous moment.'

damien bet shayne $20 that he wouldn't stare into the camera in every single shot. shayne committed to the bit. no one said anything and they kept every single shot in and NO ONE knows why.

I fully agree with you that they would have this hypothetical conflict before they start dating, if Taco is to run back into the woods. I think that by the time they do formally get together, they will have built up enough trust and, just as importantly, communication and conflict resolution skills, that Taco won't run off if they do argue.

OOOO, angry smooches!! Okay, full disclosure, I am very asexual so I do not give nor receive mouth kisses, but I have seen this in fanfictions so I get what you're going for and agree with it for pre-romantic tacomic!!! These two have a lot to learn about proper communication with a romantic partner <3 (or in Taco's case, just in general). Yeah, I can see them making out mid-argument, though I would say I'd have to see Mic starting it between their height difference and the greater ease in which she gives physical affection. Yeah, if they're arguing and Taco starts getting intense in her self-loathing, Mic would totally just start kissing her. They make out for a bit, snap out of it, and then Taco is out of there. I can see them avoiding each other too after an argument, later down the line, but for this rather early (I'd say their first since they reunited) argument, I think Taco would be so panicked that she'd run right away.

Knife and Soap would probably go for taking care of Mic first, since she's still in the mansion (and would be their first priority anyways)!! Also!! They do not know where Taco went. Mic is the one who best knows the places in the woods that Taco would frequent, although I'm very willing to bet that even she doesn't knows all of Taco's haunts, but she isn't ready to talk things out with Taco right away because of the intense emotions she's feeling!!! I'd say they wait for Taco to come back on her own, but she just... doesn't. And after a few days it's a serious concern?? Mic is super worried, even quite a few of the other former contestants are worried at this point. And Mic goes out in to the woods to fi just kidding you are not getting through this post without me including propaganda and in this it will be Toico!!!!!!!!!! Don't get me wrong, Mic does go out and look for Taco, namely by turning up her volume and trying to call for her!! But this is Taco, and she is very scared after they argued, so she's using Mic's voice as a warning to avoid an area rather than as a beacon to follow.

SO! Toico!!! Toilet would just stumble across Taco I think. He would be helping to look for her, he wants to be helpful and of course they're already kind of friends since they both miss Mepad a lot and were quite close with him and he was the only person who- okay sorry back to your idea that I've already propaganda'd enough. I can stay on track!!!!!! Anyways, I think Toilet is a really good object to find her though!! He has. Made some mistakes too!! He killed a bunch of them!! He messes up all the time, and no one's kicked him out!! So Taco can come back and talk to Mic and it'll be okay. But it's different for Taco because she's malicious and this was her second chance and she messed it up!! And an entire spiral of self-loathing!!!!^^ But you know what? She's been pretty nice to Toilet. And Mepad liked her, so she can't be all bad, yeah? Blah blah moral of the story here keep going even after you make a mistake. Mic can find them after this, once Toilet has helped Taco calm down a bit at least, and the two can talk things out in private, regarding their argument, the kissing, and Taco running away afterwards. It's an important step in their relationship!!! <3

Lessons from Adepticon

//An out-of-character musing about the weekend.

So while sitting the the airport waiting for our return flight, I had some time to muse on the course of the weekend.

It's been a lot of fun! We did have a good time; I really enjoyed meeting some online friends, dressing up, and playing games. It was also a learning experience, as every con is a little different and every venue has its quirks. It's very much a competition and playing convention, with an array of hobbying layered over it, so going without the intent to compete or play does curb a significant amount of the actual events.

It's definitely not a costume convention. There were probably about two dozen full on costumes for a convention with eight thousand visitors. Apparently in previous years there have been costume competitions, but its been awhile(last documented thing I could find was for 2018). In talking to the staff about it, there was some (semi-joking?) suggestion that I should volunteer to staff next year and run it myself. Then another veteran staffer said she'd look into running it. I got her email with the offer of supporting that venture. So maybe. lol.

We did also meet the staff for NOVA Opens costume contest with three encouragement to make the trip down. So we might have to add that to the list.

As one of only a handful of costumed persons(and maybe a touch of arrogance, definitely one of the best), I was WELL received for the most part. Lots of enthusiasm, lots of squeals, and lots of pictures. I will definitely do that again. We did have some costume mishaps (my Jedi&lotara boots will need total replacing)and I will probably do some upgrades/additions for the future.

It was also not a ribbon convention, so almost everyone I gave a ribbon to needed explanation for what it was/how it worked. But maybe with the power of repetition and exposure, we can change that lol. I did really enjoy handing them out because there was also an air of wonder and enthusiasm about it.

Hobby seminars! We really enjoyed our resin class and our freehand class. We also learned the hard way that there was a BIG difference between a "demo" hobby seminar and a "hands on" hobby seminar. I admittedly didn’t notice the difference(since they're both hobby seminars) until we discovered we'd paid 40$+ a head for what amounted to an in-person version of a youtube video. Not a mistake I will make twice. In the future I expect we'll only take classes for things we dont think we could somewhat easily learn via youtube or would otherwise not benefit from a teacher hanging over our shoulder for guidance. We'll also likely watch a youtube video or two of teachers ahead of time- some people, while very talented/experienced, are just not great teachers.

My brother will likely bring a mobile hobby painting set up next year, as there was some down time to paint. I’m not totally sold on the idea but we shall see lol. We did end up picking up a number of models and such, so I am glad we had some extra bag space.

All in all, an excellent experience. We will likely return next year, a little more prepared and ready to battle. :)

all 3 were built by the same people, one after the other, and they consider themselves to be like "childhood" friends (since they were all being developed around the same time)

She was made to follow orders, shes simply just doing what Bitz is telling her to do, that being his personal bodyguard/hitman. She doesn't feel much empathy towards anyone she doesn't know on a personal level (Most of the time), so the job doesn't really bother her

Barb got to participate on the show at one point as a contestant! He wanted to experience all sorts of challenges they had to offer, that is how they met. They started talking soon after the episode aired (and yes Barb made it out just fine lmao).

Bitz did not know about Barb's connections with the other bots til later, I think he would be Very upset if he found out HB had associations with her in secret

Dennis originally wanted to go into the medical field but he ended up getting more into robotics instead. As soon as he was on his own he wanted to create his own assistants to help take care of his place while he was doing his own thing. (which was basically uh, being a NEET. atleast for that time)

Bitz was made to carry, crush, and destroy junk. He was created with the idea of being a robot garbage disposal 💀

HB was built to cook and clean, basic housekeeper duties or whatever Dennis told her to do. shrimple as that 🦐

The show had actually existed before Bitz was around (albeit alot more tame) Mike was the original host! At some point he wanted to do other things. The studio was worried that without a robot host the show would drop in ratings, as that was an important aspect of it. But soon after Mike moved on, they ended up finding and hiring Bitz and HB almost instantaneously (not like they rlly had a choice LOL)

It was always Bitz's dream to be on tv, and HB was def on board as long as it provided them with a roof over their heads

They both work for the same network so they do get a glimpse of each other's shows. and ofc they both make fun of eachother as well 👍 Mike doesn't mind the insults, if anything he finds it really funny LOL meanwhile Bitz takes any sort of tease towards him to heart 😭 I can def see him hatewatching alot out of boredom, and turning it off as soon as he gets too mad.

do you have a writing process? like do you make outlines or anything or do you throw caution to the wind? also how did you develop your writing style cause it’s beautiful (signed someone who loves writing and is attempting to write a fic but struggling because I compare my writing to everyone else’s and then think it’s garbage and get utterly discouraged and unmotivated)

I usually plot for a really long time from inception of idea to actual words in a document, like months. but my "plotting" is literally just bullet points of structure to dialogue to small details in one hugely disorganized note until I feel ready to write. I guess my only tip is to write down all your ideas in the moment no matter how small or contrived they might seem, body movements, words, things you see in your day to day. that's what makes writing come to life.

I think the struggle is normal and worth it, especially if you're enjoying what you're doing and having fun while doing it. and even if it's bad, who cares, with more practice you'll get better and then you can always come back to it and make it better with your bigger stronger writer muscles. it's one of my favorite things about writing fic, like the space it gives you to grow and get better and be as outlandish or insane as you want to be in your writing. and then I you don't like it months later, you can always come back and edit or change. there are no rules except the ones you set for yourself. but I can definitely understand playing the comparison game which is something I can fall into pretty badly as well. my only cure for that and I think the real trick to being a writer in the fandom landscape the way it is now, such a numbers game nay popularity contest, bleh, is to find your people, your friends who are always supportive of your work and write for yourself and write for them. if you're enjoying it and they're enjoying it the comparison becomes less sabotaging.

I just read your post about Enji’s atonement to Touya very well written and an interesting read but quick question - “the rest of his family wanted to forgive him way before he were to do something” when you say that the family was looking to forgive before he do something, so you mean they were looking to forgive Enji before he even started atoning?? Because I can see it with Fuyumi and maybe even Rei, but Shouto was not looking to forgive his father until Enji started to atone and looked to possibly forgive if Enji showed what type of father he would be!

Also I think Shouto also called Touya by his name after the reveal 🤔 oh actually I think if I remember correctly he slipped a little in the start but he also mostly called him by his name.

First of all a clarification.

When I said the family wanted to forgive him, I don't mean the family HAS FORGIVEN him. Their forgivance is conditional, they don't want to go back to how they were before but they're okay with giving him a chance.

Okay, so let's go through the timeline of Enji's atonement.

Around the end of September Enji has his talk with All Might. [Chap 165] According to chap 192 this is what kickstarts his idea he should atone... or, at least, that he should atone differently by how he was doing before.

This will lead him to try to approach Shouto in a manner that, I guess, is different from before.

He reaches out, respects Shouto's refusal for it, tells him he's proud even if Shouto mainly used his ice and he's there because he failed his licence exam, there's no complaining but also no pressure on how he should have done this or that or that once Shouto gets his licence he should join his agency.

I'm not 100% sure about this, but also Enji's speech to Shouto seems a step in his atonement path as he says he wants to make Shouto's proud, which, from my understanding, is not generally something Japanese fathers say. It's kids who've to make fathers proud and be grateful because the fathers gave them life, not the other way around.

By the end of November he's crowned Number 1 and then moves to Kyushu where he ends up fighting the high end.

While he's doing so, we learn he'll also started sending flowers to Rei and shows up to her hospital many times but she can't meet him yet and he respects this (I'm not sure if he started back then or he already did, poor Rei is a character HUGELY neglected so it can be that Rei is more willing to forgive Enji because actually there was more than just 2 months of flowers and visits)

Rei thinks this means Enji isn't leaving his past or his family behind.

As soon as Enji is back from Kyushu, Fuyumi throw a party for him and invites Natsuo and Shouto.

According to Natsuo, by this time, his mother and sister are willing to forgive him.

Shouto doesn't say he's willing to forgive him... but he makes clear he's willing to give him a chance, which is the first step on the path.

Fuyumi is touched and offers him more soba.

In the same month Enji sends plenty of texts to Shouto until Shouto replies he wants to learn flashfire fist.

After the Christmas Eve party at U.A. Shouto invites Midoriya and Bakugou to intern with him at Endeavor agency. Enji doesn't really want them but accepts to please Shouto.

On January 1st Shouto makes clear he will study under Enji but not because he's his father but because he's the Number 1 so doesn't want to be handled like a son. Enji accepts.

A week after Fuyumi invites them at a dinner.

At the end of it we get Shouto saying he doesn't know how to feel about Enji out of obligation due to how he hurt his mother... who however instead wants to forgive him, and Midoriya saying that Shouto is trying to get himself ready to forgive him.

Later the discussion about Touya also comes up.

A bit of cultural contest now.

Japan is pretty big about the need of harmoniously getting along. For all I searched about families who're victims of abuse (husbands abusing wife, parents abusing kids) but also other things about bullying and so on, it seems one of the main goals wasn't so much to punish the culprit but to ripristinate the harmonious getting along.

So I think in a way this too plays as a factor in why the family is the way it is.

Now what we have here?

Fuyumi ALWAYS wanted a family, so I think she always wanted to forgive him if he were to make an effort.

We don't exactly know where Rei stood before she decided she wanted to forgive him. Since Rei comes from a traditional family she was probably educated into Confucian values so she likely felt guilty for how things went wrong. She also might want to rebuld her family for her children's sake. So, even though she's still traumatized, she wants to forgive him and she might have always want to forgive him.

I tend to think Enji started sending her flowers when he decided to atone but don't we really know when he started so this might have had a longer build up or not.

Shouto doesn't really blame Enji for what he put him through even though it was traumatic, for him it was always what he did to his mother that was the worst sin. After the fight with the High End Shouto says he's not ready to forgive him... but, as Bakugo pointed out much later he doesn't say 'I'll never forgive him'. As Midoriya pointed out, Shouto wants to but he's not ready yet. Possibly he wants to for his mother and sister since they're willing to give this a try, maybe he wants to because, deep down, he'll also like to have a family. Hard to say.

The only one who states he'll never forgive Enji is Natsuo.

It's true, the fight with the High End is AFTER Enji decided to atone but... what exactly had he done that we know of by then beyond deciding to atone and sending Rei flowers?

Since Shouto claims he hadn't seen anything, I take for him he hasn't done anything.

Yet, Rei, Fuyumi and Shouto were all willing to give him a chance... Shouto's chance was likely more conditioned than the one Rei and Fuyumi were willing to give him (Shouto wants him to do something while probably Rei and Fuyumi would content themselves with Enji not doing anything bad) but still they were willing to give him one.

And having to deal with people who're willing to give you a chance makes things A LOT easier and since Enji did many things to atone in the end, it's easy to assume they will forgive him.

That's what I was trying to say, sorry if it didn't come out clear.

In regard to Shouto calling Touya with his name... Shouto alternates the two.

Post reveal, facing him, he goes for Touya, no 'Nī' (= "Brother") attached which is very rude and many won't do it even if their brother were to trying to kill them.

Then, once he's not facing him, when thinking about him or talking about him, he tends to call him 'Touya Nī' unless he's talking of him as a Villain ("Dabi's existence is my family crime").

When he faces Touya again, first he calls him 'Baka aniki' (馬鹿兄貴 “stupid brother”), then starts with 'Touya' (without 'Nī') but immediately switches to 'Dabi' and calls him as such through all the fight.

Okay, no, when Touya tells him he'll burn all Enji loves, Shouto calls him again 'Baka aniki' when he tells him he won't let him do it.

For the rest of the fight it's all Dabi.

Then after Shouto has frozen Touya and Touya has unfrozen himself, when he thinks about him he goes back to 'Touya Nī' and keeps on calling as such.

I think I didn't miss anything but I'm open to corrections if I did.

These prompts are best for ficlet prompts (specific scenarios always are), and unfortunately my ask box isn't open for that at the moment, but I'll turn them into three sentence prompts: blackout, stormbound, and human!Nomicon AU, reflections. I'm specifying what I'm boiling the prompts down to because I don't take specific scenarios for three sentence fic prompts anymore, so I ask for a word or two (along with the AU if it's an AU) for those, and this is how I'm going to list them in my three sentence fic list. (I'm still going to do your scenarios because I'm assuming you're new and don't know what I've been doing more recently, but this will give you an example of how a prompt can be boiled down.) You are welcome to still share any ideas you have, though! (It's always fun to see what people come up with.) I just won't necessarily turn them into ficlets.

Prompt 1 - Blackout

“Viceroy,” McFist growled in the sudden silence that seemed all the louder for the absence of any hum of machinery, “what did you do?”

Viceroy pinched the bridge of his nose—of course he’d get the blame for this when McFist, in all his enthusiasm, had been the one to activate the prototype before it was ready—but somehow summoned the patience to say, “It seems premature activation caused a power outage that, if the view out the window is any indication, is affecting the entire town; if you had waited—”

“The Ninja was right here,” snapped McFist, his words nearly—but not quite—covering up the sound of a pair of feet hitting the floor behind Viceroy and their owner no doubt dropped from above, “and if he’s going to show his face under my own roof, I’m going to send every WND we have after him!”

Prompt 2 - Stormbound

Randy didn’t think it would be too long before the rain let up enough for them to safely leave, but Howard—and clearly Heidi—had other ideas, since Howard had his phone out and was willingly watching Heidi’s Me-Cast, where she was saying, “Hey, N-villers, Heidi here with the DL on the downpour; the storm has us all stuck in school, so I propose a contest: first person to—hey!”

“First person to discover the real secrets of Norrisville,” continued Debbie, her face only partly in frame and the entire camera bouncing as she scrambled to keep the phone out of Heidi’s reach, “will win the prize. So how about it—who wants to unmask the Ninja with me?”

Prompt 3 - Reflections, Human!Nomicon AU

He would be lying if he called Randy his best student or his most skilled one, but Randy may well be the one who most embodied what it meant to be the Norrisville Ninja; he had a heart that wouldn’t fail him, and when he dealt with the likes of the Sorcerer and now the Sorceress, that was the most valuable of all.

Of course, he also had more luck than the last ten Ninjas combined, and at times like these, it was hard to accept (despite ample supporting evidence) that that luck was entirely natural and not the result of a magical artefact altering the luck of others and bending fortune to his own favour, no matter how well that would explain the current predicament.

“Yo, Nomi,” called Randy, since Randy had insisted on calling him that once he’d realized he wasn’t speaking with the one he called First Ninja, “now that you’re, like, a person and not a book, this is a perfect time to teach me how to do the Ninja Dragon Fist, so how ‘bout it?”

After some very obvious hints about more exciting challenges, Daddy long legs sets up a game of tag. Some of the contestants think it's childish, but for tissues, nothing could have been better.

Day 6: chase

The remaining contestants of “Burner” waited as the host muttered to themselves, trying to collect his thoughts. This challenge was going to be really great. He could feel it. The host had been hearing some of the contestants wonder if there really was a point to this whole show. There was. He just.. Took a while to come up with challenges. This one, however, was fairly simple, as well as fun. They had enjoyed this game himself when they were younger and he was sure the others did too. Once he had finished, he turned back to the group before announcing that the next challenge was ready. Kitkat just rolled her eyes, mumbling something under her breath. Daddy long legs either didn't hear, or didn't care because he just continued without acknowledging her.

“So.. uhm. Yeah. I have a great challenge for you guys today. You will participate in a game of tag.” A mix of excited comments and an odd mix of disdain was the reaction he received. With a nod, the host simply went over the rules, just to make sure everyone understood before leaving the teams to their bidding. Tissues was on their stomach, tracing images in the ground while Record paced back and forth. She was the nervous type, always had been, and she didn't really enjoy the idea of being chased around because a game told them so.

“I don't like this.. I don't think I can do this’” Tissues sat up, their lazy grin steady on their face as they looked up at the girl. Maybe it was because they didn't have the comprehension most people did, or maybe it was because they were just naturally laid back, but they just shrugged as they turned to face her.

“Itll be fine~! Just chase them before they chase you.” Record stopped in her tracks, looking off to the side as she rubbed her arm

“I couldn't.! That would be rude.." tissues just stood up, walking closer to her before gently poking her in the side, causing her to giggle and quickly brush their hands away.

"It's easy ~! I'll help you by encouraging you with tickles ~!" Their grin turned to a smirk as their fingers wriggled towards her. With a squeak, Record turned on her heels before bolting off with airy titters leaving her mouth. Tissues followed close behind, chuckling along with her. Back and forth, the two pursued each other. Eventually, however, tissues tripped over their own feet, tumbling to the ground while bringing Record along with them. Once the two stopped rolling and the amused snickers died down, tissues made eye contact, turning poor record's nerves to butterflies all over again. She tried backing away, but tissues quickly caught her, tracing the grooves in the black vinyl as they pulled her closer. Record's legs kicked out, circling in the air like she was peddling a bike as bubbly, childlike giggles pushed past her lips. She latches on to tissues' wrists, not really trying to fight them off as they chuckled in response.

"I've got you ~! See? I remembered how ticklish you were." They stated, half as a tease and half proud of themselves for remembering something so important.

In the distance, Pilly watched from afar, shaking his head. Pilly wasn't fond of such silliness. It made Pilly think, though. Somehow, it was always the silly ones who stayed safe. To be fair - they weren't very far into the competition, but it was a trend nonetheless. Pilly would have to pay closer attention to this little reoccurrence later.

I'm so sorry this is so short - I'm working on many more fics for the goobers and I'm PRAYING that they're a bit longer.
