#I hope you have such a wonderful day my dear
Note
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hello!
I haven’t submitted anything here before but a beloved mutual of mine reblogged a post with these very pretty blouses from the montgomery wards catalogue for the fall and winter of 1953-1954
At first I thought it was one of the polls here and I was a bit disappointed to find it wasn’t, so I’m sending them in so they can be one at some point (or again if they already have been one I can’t remember)
Before I go, I also want to mention how much I love this blog!!!! I adore historical fashion and have always thought about which outfits I would wear,so it’s been super fun voting on them (especially on polls with plates I have seen before)
I hope you are doing well and that you have a wonderful day!
hello my dear! 💕
thank you so much for sending these in – they're gorgeous! ☺️☺️
seeing something historical fashion related on the dash and wishing it were a poll here is always a fantastic reason to send it on over! ☺️💕 your wish is my command – I have added these all to the queue! 🫡 🪄 (and no worries – these have never been featured on the blog before! 💖💖)
and thank you so much for your super sweet words! 🥰🥰 I'm so so glad you're enjoying the blog and having a fun time picking which outfits you'd rather wear! ☺️💕 I hope you have a wonderful day as well! 🥰💖

3. Static Remains
Read: 1.The Prequel Static Death ,2. Static Heart
Summary: You're still getting used to your new home in hell when Alastor says he has a surprise waiting for you. What could it be?
This is for the anon that wanted to see how Alastor punishes his wife's killer. I hope you enjoy!!
Alastor x Angel Wife reader
◇◆◇◆◇◆◇◆◇◆◇◆◇◆◇ ◇◆◇◆◇◆◇◆◇◆◇◆◇◆◇
You learned very quickly that angels aren’t very welcomed in hell.
Even though Alastor has only been here a short while, he told you that there’s a day in hell where there are angels, called exterminators, that kill sinners.
How horrible, these sinners died in life only to be killed again by angels.
Angels… that are known for their purity and virtue (at least in life) killing sinners.
With this reasoning you are not to be out in public without Alastor, or without specific clothing to hide your wings.
One of the minor problems of hiding your angel self was your halo, but it was quickly solved, since you were able to take it off as if it were a hat.
Alastor had taken hell with stride, he was quickly becoming more powerful with each soul he’d make a deal with, along with the fact that he’s been killing overlords.
You’re not very keen on his soul taking but whatever makes your husband happy, makes you happy, and the killing, well, that’s his business.
With his killing of the many overlords and the non-stop soul taking, he eventually became an overlord himself, not that he had try very hard. You had seen firsthand how powerful your husband is.
You were at home, getting dinner ready for your husband. He told you (now that you both were in hell) how he liked to have his meals, which just happened to be raw venison or sinners.
You were a bit worried about the raw venison because, well, couldn’t he get sick? When you asked him about it he just laughed and patted your head.
“I don’t think I’ll die of sickness, cher!
You were even more worried about him eating sinners. How did he even like eating sinners? Isn’t that cannibalism? You also asked him about it, and he had to come out with the truth.
“In our life my dear there were certain aspects of myself that I hid from you, which one of them just happened to be my eating habits.”
You didn’t push him any further, but you did say that you wouldn’t try any sinner meat just yet, maybe you’ll try the raw venison one of these days… that seems to be the better option for you.
You take the venison out of the fridge and begin plating your meals (you cooked yours on the stove).
You hear steps coming from your front door, and in walks Alastor with a wide sinister smile on his face.
“Good evening my dear!” He walks up behind you placing his hands on your waist, kissing your cheek.
“Good evening my love, how was your day?” He begins to pull you away from the kitchen and pulls you into the living room, his staff leaning on one of the couches playing a jazzy tune.
“Hmmm, it was quite delightful!” He nuzzles his face with yours, and slowly sways you into a dance.
“That’s wonderful to hear.”
You both dance around the room for a moment when he bends you down slightly, lips almost touching.
“I have a surprise for you.” He whispers.
“Oh, you do?” you bring your lips closer
“Mmmmhmmm.” He kisses you and brings you back to your feet.
He takes your hand and leads you out the door, not before grabbing you a coat.
“Where are we going Al?”
“Oh, you’ll see!” He seems energetic.
Up ahead you see what looks to be a radio station. It looks like the one Alastor had when you both were alive.
“Is this place yours, love?”
“It certainly is!”
Alastor takes you into the station, still holding your hand, and leads you inside his booth. It’s completely pitch black, so he lets go of your hand to turn on the lights.
Once the lights turn on you see…
You see a sinner, a…. fox sinner tied up with a gag in her mouth.
“Alastor what… who is this?!” You try to run to the sinner to take off her bindings, but Alastor holds you back.
“Now, now my dear… you may not recognize her, well, you never actually met her, but this sinner, “His voice crackles, he glares at the fox, “is the one who murdered you, my love.”
You look at the sinner, “How can you be so sure….?”
“Well, why don’t we ask her? “Alastor walks towards the sinner ripping the gag off her mouth.
The fox spits in his face, “FUCK YOU! YOU DESERVE TO BE IN HELL! I’LL KILL YOUR BITCH AGAIN UNTILL YOU FEEL MY PAIN! FUCK YOU ALA-“She gets cut off by Alastor slamming her head into the floor, wiping his face.
“Well, I do believe that was enough proof, don’t you think?” Alastor looks back to you.
“What… what are you going to do to her?” You continue to stare at the sinner.
“I don’t believe this thing should be allowed to live.”
“But….”
“But nothing darling! This filthy, retched, disgusting creature, deservers more than death.”
You don’t know how to respond.
How… how are you supposed to react when your killer shows their face?
The fox… not only was she in rage but she was in pain.
“Why did she kill me?”
“Because- “
“BECAUSE THAT DEMON NEXT TO YOU KILLED MY HUSBAND!” The fox launches herself from the floor to you. You brace yourself, putting your arms up.
The sinner pushes you to the floor, taking a hold of you and sinks her teeth into your right arm, you scream in pain. Golden blood drips from your arm.
Alastor rips her off you, throwing the sinner against the wall, having his shadows hold her in place.
You put pressure on your arm as you sit up.
The sinners mouth drips with your blood, “Your gonna die, die, die, die, DIE!” The shadows wrap around her mouth tightly.
Alastor bends down to your level, grabbing your arm licking the blood till it stops spouting.
“Do you see now my dear? What wretched beings live down here.”
You feel yourself tremble, you continue to stare at the sinner.
“She said you killed her husband,” You look into Alastor’s eyes, “did you kill him?”
He looks into your eyes before speaking, “Yes, I did.”
“Why-“
“That man was no gentleman. He was a foul, foul creature. Hitting women when they wouldn’t give him what he wanted, trapping women in the alleyways wanting to take advantage of them.”
Alastor kisses your arm all the way to your knuckles.
“He had set his sights on you next.”
You look to him, eyes widen.
“I found out while we were at the diner, you were eating your pancakes with a side of bacon and eggs, I got up to use the bathroom. Her husband was in there talking to another man, they didn’t see me come in.”
“I don’t want to repeat their vulgar words….”
“Creatures like them don’t deserver to live.” His voice starts to crackle with static.
You push yourself into him, wrapping your arms around him.
“I’m sorry Alastor!”
Alastor is stunned for a bit, “Whatever for my love?”
“If… if it wasn’t for me, you would still be alive!”
“Darling, don’t blame yourself for my doings, I did this on my own free will.”
“I would never allow anything to happen to you.” He cups your cheek.
You turn away from him to face the sinner on the wall.
“Did she know... that he did all that?”
“Of course she did, but she was too blind to see it all, she claims to love him dearly but that was only when his check would come in.” His smile stretches further.
The sinner’s eyes widen, and she begins to try to thrash around.
“Don’t you try to move now.” Alastor stands and walks toward her, his stature growing taller, eyes turning into dials.
“ɎØɄ ₮ØØ₭ ₥Ɏ ₩ł₣Ɇ₴ ł₦₦Ø₵Ɇ₦₮ Ⱡł₣Ɇ ₳₩₳Ɏ ₣ØⱤ ɎØɄⱤ Ø₩₦ ₴ɆⱠ₣ł₴Ⱨ ĐɆ₴łⱤɆ”
The sinner stops thrashing around and stills.
“ⱧØ₩ ₱₳₮Ⱨ₮ł₵”
You don’t move from your spot on the ground, yet you turn your head away.
Alastor grabs the sinner by her neck, the shadows disappear back into him, and slams her into the floor three times.
The sinner screams in pain as Alastor yanks her to her knees and opens her mouth grabbing her tongue with his clawed hands.
“ł'ⱠⱠ ₥₳₭Ɇ ɎØɄ ₣ɆɆⱠ ₥Ɏ ₱₳ł₦ ɎØɄ ₴₳łĐ.”
His grip tightens on her tongue.
“ⱧØ₩ ₳฿ØɄ₮ ł ₴ⱧØ₩ ɎØɄ ⱧØ₩ ɎØɄⱤ ⱧɄ₴฿₳₦Đ ₣ɆⱠ₮ ₮ⱧɆ ₱₳ł₦ ł₦₴₮Ɇ₳Đ?”
Alastor rips her tongue out and she falls to the ground, groaning, screaming in pain.
She starts to crawl away, but Alastor steps on her head with one foot.
“ɎØɄⱤ ₦Ø₮ ₲Ɇ₮₮ł₦₲ ₳₩₳Ɏ ₮Ⱨ₳₮ Ɇ₳₴Ɏ”
His staff appears in his hands and begins jamming the end of the staff into her skull, he’s laughing maniacally.
There are 24 holes in her head. Alastor raises the end of the staff to his mouth and gathers the remains on his tongue and swallows.
“ɎØɄ ₩ɆⱤɆ ฿Ɇ₮₮ɆⱤ Ø₣₣ ĐɆ₳Đ”
Alastor returns back into his “normal” self and turns to you to see your hands covering your ears with your eyes shut.
You look up feeling the static die down.
“My dear, how would you feel about having fox stew for dinner tonight?” He jokingly asks.
Your face pales.
“I’m just joking with you my love” He moves towards you and pulls you up.
“No one will ever cause you harm.”
You nuzzle your face into his chest.
“I know….,” You look up at him, “I love you.”
“I love you forever, my darling.”
Alastor turns to see the sinner unmoving, he’ll probably return to the station tomorrow to skin the fox, you need a new coat anyways, it’ll be a gift to show his love. For now you’ll both return home, go to bed and embrace each other.
He looks to his panel and see the red light on, the sound of the dead fox screaming was blasted all throughout pride ring.
Now every sinner will learn not to mess with the Ɽ₳ĐłØ ĐɆ₥Ø₦.

Part 3 of Lost in your love will be out tomorrow, so stay tuned!!
Thank you for reading!!

Dear Plagiarism Anon
You wrote and I immediately blocked you (this #silly game must end at some point, don't you think?):
Tumblr media
You sound suspiciously the same as the three other Anons sent to me over this last week and I think I know who the fuck you are, darling.
You also know very well that, at this point in time, there are no more neutrals in this fandom. Playing Switzerland in Gaza only suits tone-deaf R2D2 Marple and her hypocrite minions - it has never been my cup of tea. And let common sense be the judge of my supposed irrelevance, when I see you pouncing on my inbox like the deranged troll you are, each and every time I am posting something.
I hope you do have a family, too: mine is a wonderful bunch of people I have not seen in almost six years. I intend to compensate this shameful situation before I will have to leave them again for a while. I also think it is absolutely clear I am not working for you and as such, not bound to write every single day or disclose any content in my possession.
I have never plagiarized anyone, in my entire life. I was, in turn, plagiarized myself, by a couple of you guys across the street. Imitation being the best form of (questionable) flattery, it amused me at first, until it didn't. Is this your latest theory on me? Pity is probably the best word to describe my reaction.
Grammar and vocabulary policing responds to your mean allegations about shippers being stupid and unable to read, write or speak proper English. I have explained that hundreds of times. You can do better, too, and prove what the fuck you said. But you won't, because this is not how this idiotic game works, is it?

a/n: 1.6k - immortal!reader asks zhongli to tell tales abt guizhong (this is technically a small blurb linked to my fic Dragonfly, however i've tried to make this so you don't *need* to read it to understand this, but feel free to do so regardless! note-the reader was 'dead' during a period of the archon war)
Tumblr media
"zhongli, do you have some time?" you, after having just returned home, pop your head into the tearoom on the second floor of your shared home with zhongli. it was on the cusp of evening, the last light of afternoon shifting into deeper colors that will soon give way to nightfall. your partner in which you hope you aren't bothering after his own long day at work sits comfortably at the small round table with a pot of tea. It must still be fresh since the amount in his clay cup still wafts high with steam.
"always for you," he hums. he turns his neck towards the doorway and jerks his chin inwardly in silent invitation. you make your way to the table across from him as he begins to pour new tea into the spare cup he always keeps along with his kettle in case you join him. he has discarded his long-tailed coat and sits in his buttoned collared shirt that has wrinkles of the day creased into it. still, he even makes disheveled clothing look elegant.
he pours your tea and slides it towards you, along with any additives that you may use. honey, sugar cubes and the like. he never used to keep such additions on hand since he was never fond of sweetened teas. but he always wants to accommodate your presence.
"today, the traveler and i made a trip up to cloud retainers abode."
"oh?" he hums, taking a sip of his warm tea. "that is quite the journey."
"it's not so bad with the traveler's ability to access teleport waypoints," you muse, but quickly catch yourself from going on a tangent since that was not the purpose of your attendance of his time. "while she spends more time among humans as xianyun, cloud retainer was very accepting of us having a meal together aside her home at mt. aozang."
"she's become much more hospitable to humans lately. it is a nice change to witness in her demeanor since she was particularly adverse to mortals for so long."
"she's also quite the story teller. she spoke about so many things over such a short meal. i don't think I've quite seen paimon more confused trying to keep up with everything." you chuckle at the recollection and the dizzing swirls that clouded the confused fairy's eyes. zhongli chuckled in tandem.
a comfortable silence falls over the room like a warm blanket. the sun had changed and evening had begun with it's golden hue. zhongli's focus was pointed outside, watching the day's stragglers dot the streets down below. you tap your fingertip on the tabletop softly, wondering if you could really ask about what you want to. just from hearing second hand, you didn't know if it would be a sensitive subject for zhongli if you breached it.
"you're awfully fidgety," he flicks his eyes towards you as you sigh. tearing his face from the direction of the window, he returns his full attention towards you. "is something on your mind, my dear?"
"here sits rex." zhongli's spine locks his posture. "here sits guizhong." you whisper both short phrases. the small table you shared with xianyun, the traveler, and paimon today was the very table she used to share with her rex lapis and guizhong many, many years ago.
maybe this wasn't a good idea.
zhongli's face did not show any anger or resentment, but the way the aura around him shifted? it made you feel guilty for even bringing it up. you sigh, clear your throat, and shake your head.
"i... nevermind. i apologize for bringing that up. please, forget I said anything at all."
silence returned, but it was less comfortable than before. you take a couple sips of your tea, swallowing hard but the liquid warming your chest all the same. zhongli has not lifted his cup, but he has redirected his gaze outside once again. maybe he really would drop the conversation as you insisted.
half way through your cup, your tea started tasting too bitter for your liking and you thought it would be a good time to leave the room altogether. just leave zhongli to his thoughts and maybe preparing some food as another apology for prying into a past that had nothing to do with you.
you set your cup further away from you, a clear sign that you were finished. your chair pushes back and zhongli looks across the table to you. with your downcase gaze to make sure you didn't trip over any of the table legs, you miss the hard swallow of zhongli's that bobbed his apples adam and the near desperate look he shot towards you. like he was pleading with you not to leave him just yet.
"dear, wait-"
"it's getting late, so i'll start dinner."
"hold on," he breathes. joining you by standing to his feet and rounding the table so quickly his hip brushes back the corner. "please, y/n, wait a moment," he steps in front of you. his arms come up to gently rest his hands on your forearms.
zhongli sighs seeing your dejected look. one of his hands come to hook under your chin to bring your gaze up to his. seeing the sliver of guilt in your eyes made his heart ache. his thumb brushes over your cheek and you lean into his touch, making a weak smile run across his lips.
"please don't misunderstand, i'm not angry." his hand slips down your neck. "I'm not angry" -he reiterates with a sigh- "but could you tell me why you're interested?" his palm rests on the crook of your neck now, thumb absentmindedly rubbing softly back and forth across your pulse point. he's always enjoyed feeling your life under his fingertips.
"i've always been interested," you tell him solemnly. "knowing about the god who was at your side when i wasn't, taking care of you. i've always wanted to know about her." you advert your gaze elsewhere with a small pout on your lips. the silence in the room that follows your reply gives you time to clock how you sounded... and you gasp. with a quick motion that zhongli wasn't expecting, you whip your gaze back up towards him and grasp his wrist in your hand firmly. "i'm not jealous or anything!"
"i didn't think you were," he chuckles, continuing his soft thumb stroke across your neck. he wasn't sure if you heard him though since you continue trying to save face that you haven't even sullied.
"really, im not at all. whether you had any romantic feelings for lady guizhong or not has nothing to do with me- or us? this us, of today i mean. or... i guess of the past? i mean during that time i was dead- so to speak anyway- so, i really don't mind if you two were intimate. she seemed like a wonderful god, and so it-"
"y/n," his voice cuts through your nervous rambles as his second hand comes to rest on the opposite side of your neck. you stop speaking and he chuckles at the flustered expression you wear. using the heels of his hands, he lifts your face up by the undersides of your chin to kiss your cheek. you can feel the smile of his lips on your skin. "calm down," he whispers.
your racing pulse does as commanded and soon you were relaxing in his hold.
"guizhong and i were never lovers," he tells you. "she was a dear friend of mine, but even back then, taking a romantic route with someone other than you was never an option for me, rest assured."
"i was never worried about it," you pout again. "if you two were lovers, at least i would've had the satisfaction of knowing you were being taken care of. according to cloud retainer, guizhong was quite the mother hen."
"she cared deeply for others, that's true. still, nothing between us romatically ever happened."
zhongli should've told you about guizhong long ago. he knows this, but still, sometimes talking about his dear lost friend still stings. such a pure and kind soul didn't deserve the ending she got.
your free hand that wasn't loosely wrapped around your lover's wrist, comes to gently place itself against his chest. your palm resting against the center of his torso.
"you truly do not need to tell me anything. i understand." and zhongli knows you do. you're so sincere that sometimes he truly believes you're too good for him. still, he wants to tell you. zhongli wants to tell you, his partner in this long life of his, all about the lord of dust guizhong; about his best friend from an age long past.
zhongli slides his hands off your neck and down your arms to soon lovingly encase your hands in his. without his gloves, you can see the golden veins running through him. sometimes you wonder if zhongli secretly had the sun inside him. the god of old brings your clasped hands to his chin and kisses the top of them, eyes shut gently to take in the warmth of them against his lips and skin.
"please," he whipsers. "rejoin me for some tea? i'll tell you all about her." his eyes open and there's a shimmer of mirth behind their golden hue. he lowers your hands just enough to show off his mouth. his smiling warmly and nostaligically. "she'd surely give me quite the lecture if i did not tell my dearest lover all about her."
as he leads you back to the tea tables, he moves his chair to be beside yours so he can continue to hold your hand. entertwaining his fingers with yours, he strokes your knuckles as he weaves his words together as fluently and elgantly as possible.
telling you silly things, serious things, sad things, happy things. everything he could think about. he watches you laugh and your eyes mist over at her demise. he smiles as you listen to him so intivitely.
"guizhong would have adored you."
Tumblr media
a/n pt.2: this was sitting in my drafts foreverrrr and i could never find a way to feel like it was written the way i wanted it to be?? but im tired of trying to fix it so into the wild it goes (i just really wanted to write about guizhong ;-; )

the hero i was, the man i am :: toshinori yagi/all might
Tumblr media
Toshinori is having a hard day, and you decide to help him out with a much needed pep talk.
content warning: true form toshinori x reader, gender neutral reader, hurt and comfort, mention of scars.
wc: 600
notes etc.: thank you @actuallysaiyan and @g00miato for getting me into the all might agenda. I see the vision (and it’s wonderful from here 💜).
Tumblr media
Toshinori wasn’t one to usually wake up on the wrong side of the bed.
Yet, here he was, staring at himself in your shared bedroom’s mirror while dressed in his old All Might attire. His eyes glanced down his lean form, clearly not enough to fill the clothes that draped and bagged around his thin frame.
His hero uniform, once worn with a proud smile, felt like a poorly made costume from the thrift shop.
Perhaps, even worse than that.
“Toshi?” your voice echoed into the room, and he turned his face around towards you, trying to spare you a smile. However, it felt like a mask.
“Oh, darling. I didn’t hear you coming into the house. You got those groceries incredibly fast.”
“I was gone for a few hours, love,” you replied, walking towards him, with slight concern tightening your chest. “are… are you okay, my dear?”
He tried keeping his smile going, but it quickly morphed into a frown as he diverted his gaze back to the mirror.
“What do you see?” he asked in a low voice.
You hummed for a second. “What do you?”
“I…” Toshinori’s voice dragged for a short while, as if he picked apart a dozen different words, but none of them felt quite right, “I see a shadow. An immaterial shadow that cannot touch things as the body that has cast it once did. I cannot do much in this form, if at all, to help people. Not anymore.”
You took a pensive expression and held his hand, turning him to face you.
“Do you want to know what I see?”
Toshinori seemed sad and disappointed with himself as he nodded. His shoulders hung low, with a weight you would never be able to fully comprehend — a beacon of hope, Japan said — and you thought, for a second, that he blamed himself to a great extent for what had happened since his last fight with All for One.
“I see…” you started, taking his hands in yours and slowly peeling his gloves away, “the hands that have taken hundreds of people from under debris.”
You stepped closer, and held the hem of his shirt, sliding it off his body from his shoulders, “I see the shoulders that have carried me and so many others to safety in times of need.”
He sighed softly when you put your hand over his scar, and locked eyes with you before you slid both your hands down his body and undid his belt, letting his pants fall to the floor. “I see the legs that have carried you to all the places you were needed. Even when it was to your own detriment, you did it, and did it with a smile.”
Finally, you held his face in your hands, and smiled at him.
“I see the face of the man that inspired and supported so many students. That still does. The face I fell in love with. So that’s what I see — I see you. How could I ever see anything else?”
He sighed and smiled back at you, pulling you into a hug. Toshinori nuzzled your hair, and took in the smell of your preferred concoction of shampoo/conditioner and whatnot, which he absolutely adored. Your smell.
“Thank you, my love.”
“Whenever you need, Toshi,” you replied with your face pressed against his chest, hugging him back tenderly. “Now, silly, I need your help to put the groceries away and we should start prepping for dinner. What do you say?”
He sighed contently still holding you in his arms. That, they could still do.
He was thankful for that.
“Sounds lovely.”

Sunkissed ~ Legolas x F!Elf!Reader
A/N: oh how I missed Legolas <3 I haven’t written anything for him in such a long time that I am so so happy to do a request for him again <3 tbh I think it is so easy for me to write him? Cause idk I picture him like the perfect romance guy?? And idk I always get so soft writing for him haha but omg I hope you enjoy the story!! <33
⇢ ˗ˏˋ Warnings: Fluff ࿐ྂ ⇢ ˗ˏˋ Words: 2.0k ࿐ྂ ⇢ ˗ˏˋ Request: Yes (Thank you <33) ࿐ྂ ⇢ ˗ˏˋ Le I velethril e-guil nîn ~ You are the Love of my Life ࿐ྂ ⇢ ˗ˏˋ Le Melin ~ I love you ࿐ྂ
Summary: You have been in love with the elven prince since quite a time, but never told him about it. Your sister Arwen however, is determined to change the course of your relationship with Legolas.
Tumblr media
The light of the setting sun enveloped the room in a warm orange hue, a perfect start for the upcoming celebration of the night. Aragorn, as well as the rest of the company, arrived in Rivendell a few days ago. However, due to their immense exhaustion, the festivities had to be postponed until today. Sitting in front of your vanity, you listened to Arwen hum while her hands brushed through your hair. You have asked for her help earlier and being your sister, she of course, did not decline your request of braiding your hair. “Are you excited for todays festivities?” You suddenly asked her. Watching her reflection through the mirror, you saw a gentle smile gracing her face. “Of course I am sister. They have finally returned from their long journey and deserve to be celebrated.” “You are especially keen on celebrating Aragorn, aren’t you?” You teased her. A blush dusted her cheeks, as she gave you a light slap on the shoulder.
“Stop it. Don’t try to deny that you aren’t keen on celebrating a special someone yourself.” Arwen uttered while gathering a few strands of your hair. Looking down at your lap, you tried to hide your broad smile from her. Even the thought of Legolas alone made your heart skip a beat. And now he finally returned to Rivendell. “We are just very close friends, sister.” “Yes. Very very close friends indeed.” You scoffed at her. It was a known fact that Legolas and you have been friends since your early childhood days. You remember playing with him in the gardens of Mirkwood and dancing together at celebrations in Rivendell. You also remember how your heart shattered as you watched him chase after Tauriel. And of course you remember, putting Legolas heart back together once more.
One could say you went through a lifetime already, however you still only remained friends. “Yes, friends. Nothing more and nothing less.” Slight bitterness filled your voice at the prospect of never being more than that with the elven prince. Arwen, noticing the tone, gave your shoulders a reassuring squeeze. “You say it like it is a curse to be his friend.” “Well, you do know how I feel towards him, don’t you?” “And you know that you can change the course of your relationship anytime, don’t you?” Her arms wrapped around your shoulders in a gentle hug. “Stop worrying about a rejection that will never happen. Even our father can tell that Legolas harbours more than just friendly feelings for you, sister.” Smiling at her, you squeezed her arms, that were still encircling you. “Arwen, the sun is already setting and you still haven’t even begun to separate the strands.” She let out a huff at your change of topic and let go of you, continuing to brush through your hair. “Dear sister, would you prefer a half up half down braid with pearls?”
After finally finishing up and heading to the festivities with your sister, you quickly looked around the room. “Searching for someone specific (Y/N)?” Aragorn asked, while holding an arm out for Arwen to take. “No, not particularly.” “She is, but she just is too shy to admit it.” You glared at your sister. “Don’t worry, he will be here soon.” “Thank you, Aragorn but I am not worrying about anything or searching for someone or something. Now excuse me, I need to get a cup of wine.” And with that you left the couple alone.
“When are the both of them finally admitting their feelings for each other?” Arwen asked her lover, while he guided her towards the dance floor. “Legolas once openly admitted to me that he does love her, but he is so unsure about what to do. Especially after he got rejected by Tauriel.” A knowing hum left her lips, as she let Aragorns words sink in. “I think we should help them out. Find the right course for their future.” She said, as she twirled in her lovers arms.
Hours passed by and you found yourself staring up at the stars above. “Beautiful night, isn’t it?” You spun around at the familiar voice. Your heart skipping a beat as you watched Legolas approach you slowly. His golden hair was perfectly partly braided behind his pointy ears. You remember that he once let you braid it when you were children and how soft it felt. Averting your eyes, you looked back up at the night sky. “It indeed is.” Standing beside you, he let his hands rest on top of the railing. Your fingers almost brushed against each other, sending tingles through your body. “(Y/N) I actually have a little present for you.” Tilting your head, you turned toward him curiously. His warm hand grabbed yours, turned it around and placed something small inside it. Looking down, you saw an iridescent pearl. Taking it between two fingers you examined it carefully. A small was drilled through the small sphere and small delicate details were carved into the surface.
“Legolas, this is so beautiful. Did you make this?” You looked up at the elven prince, who bashfully looked away. “Yes, a dwarven friend showed me how to make one of the- of the beads.” He stumbled upon his words. “Thank you so much, I love it!” Wrapping your arms around his torso, you gave him a hug. His scent filled your nose. Like a fresh spring breeze with a hint of lavender. His arms gently wrapped around you, engulfing you in his warmth. You could have stayed like this forever. In his arms, in his warmth. Pulling away, you smiled up at him, a soft red hue dusting your cheeks. “Would you like to braid the bead into my hair?” You asked him, still holding onto his hands while the bead is nestled between both of your palms. “It would be an honour.” His smile made your heart flutter and fill your body with a comfortable warmth. Turning around, you let the elven prince gather a strand of your hair, braid it and finish it off with the beautiful bead he just gifted you. “It looks beautiful in your hair. Like a star encased in a soft blanket.” You smiled at his words, as you turned back around. Oh, how you wish this night would never end.
The next day you were walking through the gardens alone. You were thinking about the celebrations yesterday. Especially how Legolas treated you and even gifted you a handmade bead. You also vividly remember how the pair of you glided over the dance floor to various melodies. And how his touch ignited your body. You could still even feel the imprints of his fingers on your waist. Do normal friends even act like we do? “You seem quite in thought today (Y/N)” Aragorns voice rung in your ears, ripping you away from your daydream. “Hello Aragorn, how come you are spending time without my sister? I thought the both of you would be inseparable after your return.” The man let out a soft chuckle at your joke. “She found company in someone else today.” You raised an eyebrow at that. With whom was she spending time?
“And to be completely honest with you, I was seeking you out for today.” “How come?” “Let’s take a walk around the gardens, shall we?” He smiled at you, deflecting your question. Nodding at his request, the both of you started to walk along the stone path. “Do you know how Legolas came up with the idea of making this bead?” “He just told me that a friend helped him. So, I guess Gimli shared some of his wisdom with him.” “That is partly the truth.” You looked at Aragorn curiously. “What do you mean by that?” A sigh left the man at your question. “I can’t exactly tell you, because it is not my place to. However, I really wish he would just finally admit to his feelings and confess. The same also goes to you.” You suddenly stopped walking and stared at him; mouth slightly ajar. Never would you have ever guessed that Aragorn would call you out for your feelings towards the elven prince.
“I- I have my reasons Aragorn.” “And so does he. But would you rather constantly long for him than actually courting him?” Embarrassment flooded your system, as you looked at the ground. “I just- I am scared of losing him.” A hand on your shoulder made you look up. Aragorn smiled gently at you. “You won’t lose him (Y/N). I think he might actually be on his way by now to change something about your… situation.” Aragorns eyes focused on something behind you, which made you turn around confused. Arwen was descending the few stone steps with Legolas beside her. “Well, what a pleasant surprise, isn’t it?” She said, weaving her arm through Aragorns. You looked at Legolas, who gave you a smile as a greeting. Returning his gesture, the four of you continued your walk through the garden.
“I am happy to see you are still wearing the bead in your hair.” The elven prince broke the silence between you. “Of course I am. You put so much effort into this lovely gift, I will cherish it for the rest of my life.” “I am glad to hear that.” He slowed his pace down, to create some distance between the both of you and the pair in front of you. “(Y/N) there is something I want to talk about with you.” A shiver went down your spine at his words. Did he find out about my feelings? Will he reject me now? Dread flooded your system, as you stared at him waiting for him to continue talking. “Do you know how I came up with the idea of gifting you this bead?” Legolas asked you. You shook your head no. “It is quite simple. Gimli talked about his customs and how similar they were to ours in some aspects. He also mentioned that they normally craft courting beads for their significant other.” Warmth spread over your face and dusted your cheeks in a rosy colour.
“After that I asked him if he could show me how to craft one. Because I wanted to give one to you.” Suddenly he stopped walking and turned toward you. Grabbing your hand gently into his, he let his thumb stroke soft circles over your skin. Your heart beat quickened, as you looked up into his warm eyes. “I want to court you (Y/N). I want to spend my lifetime with yours. I want to be beside you during cold nights as well as warm days. I want to be with you and I want to be yours (Y/N).” Gasping at his words, you squeezed his hands reassuringly. “I never would have expected to hear such beautiful words from you Legolas. My heart has always longed to be with yours and I would love to enter this courtship with you. I want to spend my lifetime with you. I want to be yours and I would love you to be mine.”
Smiling brightly at you, Legolas let go of your hands and placed his gently on your face. His thumb stroked along your reddened cheek, before he leaned in slightly. Your heartbeat quickened as his face got closer to yours. But before your lips could touch, he stopped. “Le I velethril e-guil nîn.” And with those words he closed the gap between you. His rich taste filled your system, as you tilted your head more to the side and let his lips engulf more of you. He was addicting, like a drug. A sweet drug. He tasted like a sunny spring morning. Like the comfort and warmth of sunrays on your skin. Separating, the both of you looked at each other lovingly. “Le melin.” You said, smiling brightly at him before indulging once more in his lips and his embrace, making sure to treasure every single second of it.

Your donation eases the painful moments of the war 🤍 and relieves the tragic 😥 sufferings of the people of Gaza who have been going through the saddest and most painful😭😭 experiences they have ever had. Life in here is incredibly getting harder and harder either on the level of safety and peace or on the level of livelihood sources. Every single thing has become a burden and a load over our shoulders. You may wonder how possible a person in Gaza can't afford their needs and necessities. The answer is " the vast majority of the people in Gaza lost every single possession and 🇵🇸 belonging on the first days of the war and became displaced and homeless in the streets of the alleged safe neighborhoods in the Middle  or the south of Gaza, adding the fact that all breadwinners have become jobless and with no source of living income amidst the rising prices of any item necessary for staying safe and alive. It is unbelievably😭 harsh and tough.

Masterlist | Prologue | Chapter 1
Tumblr media
Juliet wakes, as she always does these days, with a smile.
It’s been around two weeks since her Johnny came home— two wonderful weeks since he’d proposed in the back garden— and she’d loved every second. John had been settling back into life at home in sleepy Victor, New York, taking the time to grieve the friends he’d lost overseas and process the passing of his father, happy to have his mother fussing over him while he took a break before resuming the search for a job.
Juliet had indeed asked around as promised and found that Victor High School was in the market for a second music teacher— poor Mr. Brown was getting overwhelmed with the class load and was looking forward to some help. So today, John had an interview with the principal, and Juliet was coming along to introduce him.
Beaming, she rolls out of bed to get ready for the day. Once her face is washed and she’s donned her favorite light green shirtwaist dress, she races to her vanity for her new favorite part of her morning routine: slipping on her engagement ring.
A warm wave of joy rushes through her feeling the subtle weight of it on her finger, the emerald and two tiny diamonds sparkling in the sunlight.
She skips downstairs once she’s deemed herself presentable, greeting her parents with a kiss on the cheek.
“Good morning,” her mother laughs, “you’re certainly in a good mood today.”
“It’s a good day,” Juliet shrugs, trying to downplay her excitement.
“Because you get to see John?”
“Yes…” she drags out at her mother’s knowing look, unable to hide her smile, “And because of my lunch date with the girls, remember?”
“Oh yes,” her father laughs from his place at the table, “How could we forget?” In a more sincere tone, he continues, “I hope you plan on thanking Olive for all her letters when you meet her.”
“Of course, Daddy,” Juliet replies, “She was such a wonderful friend to have when Johnny was…”
She trails off, then clears her throat, continuing with an unbothered smile.
“And I can’t wait to meet Val, she sounded like quite the character in Olive's letters.”
“You’ll be home in time for dinner, yes?”
“Yes, mama, I will.”
Breakfast passes quickly with quiet conversation, and promptly at 10 o’clock there’s a knock at the door.
Juliet jumps up from her chair with a squeal, racing to the front door. She pauses, taking a moment to brush any wrinkles from her dress and adjust her favorite brooch before opening the door to a smiling John Brady.
“Hi sweetheart.”
Butterflies flurry to life in her stomach as he leans in to press a chaste kiss to her cheek, mindful of her parents nearby.
“Hi, Johnny,” she smiles, “You look very nice, honey.”
Her boy preens in that shy way he does whenever she compliments him, stepping into the foyer.
“And you look lovely as always, Jules.” He nods to her parents lingering in the hall with a smile, “Good morning, Mr. and Mrs. Thompson.”
Greetings are exchanged, going over the schedule once more— interview, then John will drop Juliet off at the station so she can take the train into town for her lunch, he’ll be driving into town later to meet up with his fellow members of the 100th and dropping Juliet at home promptly at dinnertime.
Juliet’s parents wish John luck, reminding them to be safe, her mother urging her to say hello to all of the girls for her, and with some difficulty they manage to get out the door and into the car.
“You have your resume?”
John’s lips twitch slightly as he holds back a soft laugh, nodding to the glovebox, “Yes, dear—”
“And your c—”
“— and my cover letter, yes. As well as a few references.” He looks fondly over at his fiancée, “I have done this before, honey.”
“I know,” Juliet flushes a rosy pink, “I know, I just— I want to help in any way I can, Johnny.”
“You are helping, Jules,” he assures her, reaching to clasp her hand in his, thumb stroking gently over the back of it, “You’re introducing me to the new principal, you absolutely didn’t have to do that.”
“I want to,” she insists, “And besides, someone has to come in there and show you off,” she teases sweetly, “Knowing you, you’ll be the humble gentleman you always are and downplay all your experience.”
His lips quirk up into a smile reminiscing on his time as a teacher, which had come to an end when he enlisted after the Pearl Harbor attacks.
“Ah yes, my whole one semester of experience.”
“Hey,” she scolds at his sarcastic tone, “One semester is more than most people wanting this job have.” Her tone softens, giving his hand a gentle squeeze, “You’ve got this, Johnny.”
“Thank you, sweetheart.”
Upon arriving at the school, Juliet directs him to the principal’s office, occupied by a man who seems to be about the same age as her father. The two exchange a friendly greeting, Juliet turning on her brilliant, most charming smile as she turns to her fiancé, making the brief introductions and subtly slipping in a comment about how John’s “looking forward to being back.”
“Well, I’ll let you two talk,” she smiles demurely, slipping quietly out the door and clicking it closed behind her.
An hour later, a familiar figure stands in the doorway of her classroom where she’d decided to make some progress on her curriculum preparations. Looking up, she can barely hold back a squeal.
“Johnny! How did it go?”
His smile tells her everything she needs to know, even as he says, “I think it went really, really well. Mr. Asher said I should hear from them in a few days with their decision.”
She flings her arms around him, beaming.
“I knew they’d see how amazing you are. We’ll be working together again!”
“Honey, did you hear the part where I have to wait a few days to hear their decision?”
“That’s just a formality, Johnny,” she assures him as they begin the walk back to the car, “If I know Mr. Asher, he wanted to give you the job right away.”
Her fiancée just laughs, pulling her close to press a kiss to her temple as he opens the door for her.
He drops her off at the station with a kiss and a “Say hi to Olive and Val for me— they’ll love you, honey, I promise,” and she passes the time quickly with the paperback tucked into her purse.
At the station, Juliet scans the crowd for her friends— despite her protests, they’d insisted they meet her there and walk to lunch together.
She grins as she spots Jo and Jean standing with two other women, racing towards them.
“Jo! Hi darling!” She says, flinging her arms around her friends, “And Mrs. Croz, looking lovely as always.”
“Thank you, honey,” Jean laughs.
“So good to see you, Jules.” Jo beams, and then her attention turns to the stylish brunette standing beside her, “This is—”
“Val DiRosano,” the woman beams, reaching over for a handshake, which Jules ignores as she goes in for a hug.
“So wonderful to meet you at last, Val.” She says, “I’ve heard nothing but wonderful things from Johnny.”
“I should hope so,” she grins, green eyes sparkling as she gestures towards the woman beside her, “Same here, from both Brady and Olive.”
The sweet brown-haired, hazel-eyed girl gives Juliet a wave.
“Hi, Jules,” she says softly, her accented voice a surprise to Juliet’s ears, “So happy to finally meet you.”
A wave of emotion wells up in Juliet as she recalls the dozens of letters she’d exchanged with the girl before her, pouring out her worries about John, her dreams for when the war was over, essays pages long in which they rambled about Shakespeare, eagerly forming a friendship on countless sheets of paper. She recalled the two letters she’d gotten on that awful October day— one from her friend wishing her the happiest of birthdays, no doubt informed by Johnny, the other in which Olive somberly informed her that her boy had gone down, with a promise— soon fulfilled— that she’d write as soon as she had any more news. This was the girl who had talked her through some of the most horrible months of her life an ocean away, and before she knows it, Juliet is moving to pull Olive into a tight hug, tears welling up in her eyes.
“I’m so, so happy to meet you,” she murmurs, “Thank you for—” she swallows around the sudden lump in her throat, her voice tight, “for everything.”
Olive’s arms squeeze around her just as fiercely.
“Of course, darling.” She whispers, “I wish I could’ve done more—”
“No,” Juliet insists, “You were a lifeline when I needed one most, and I’ll never be able to thank you enough for it.”
With one final squeeze, the girls separate, matching teary smiles on their faces.
“Well,” Juliet giggles, trying to lighten the mood as she brushes her tears away, “I knew you were a Brit, but somehow the accent was still a surprise.”
“It was for me, too,” Val laughs.
“It seems I’m just surprising in general,” Olive smiles, “Now come on, ladies, I’m starving.”
They soon find themselves seated in a booth at a sweet little diner, laughing like they’ve known each other their whole lives.
“No, really! Baseball superstar Val over here decided to take over entertaining Meatball and threw it right into the briefing room!”
“You know I didn’t mean to!” Val laughs, “And besides, Chicky wasn’t too mad at us.”
“Chicky?” Jean’s brow furrows, Jo mirroring her confused expression, and Olive snorts.
“Her little nickname for Colonel Chick Harding.”
“Wha—?”
“Oh please, I know he liked it no matter how many times he complained,” Val laughs, tucking away a stray hair behind her ear.
It’s then that Juliet catches a glimpse of a lovely emerald ring glinting in the light.
“Oh Val!,” she gushes, “That ring is gorgeous.”
“Oh! Thank you,” the girl seems to go soft as she glances down at her left hand, and the girls swoon as she recounts the story of Everett Blakely’s proposal, a wide smile lighting up her dignified face.
“That’s so sweet,” Juliet says, pressing a hand to her heart, and the other girls lean in to examine it as Val holds her hand out proudly.
“Wait, Jules, we haven’t gotten to see yours yet!”
Jo was right, Jules realized, she had phoned her and Jean as soon as she could to gush about John’s proposal, but in the excitement of meeting Olive and Val, actually showing them the ring as she’d promised had slipped her mind.
She politely waits until the girls are done ooohing and aaahing over Val’s exquisite ring to extend her own for inspection.
Olive’s eyes nearly bug out of her head.
“Juliet Thompson, Brady proposed and you didn’t tell me!”
“I’m telling you now!” Juliet laughs, “It was such a surprise… apparently he asked my parents for permission the night he came home,” she says, visibly softening at the memory, “and the next day he was down on one knee in our back garden with his grandmother’s ring.” She locks eyes with Olive, knowing she’ll appreciate this next part as she squeals, “He quoted Tempest.”
Olive lets out an outright gasp, “He did not!”
She nods fervently, beaming, “I would not wish—”
Olive finishes the quote with her, “— any companion in the world but you! Oh, that’s lovely, Jules.”
Val grins as she examines Juliet’s ring, extending her hand next to hers so the two emeralds are sparkling in the light.
“Brady’s got good taste, I see.”
“Looks like your Everett does, too,” Juliet laughs.
“Well of course he does,” Val says with a playful toss of her hair, “He’s with me, isn’t he?”
Jean lets out a happy sigh, her gaze scanning over the girls huddled together in the booth.
“It’s so wonderful that we’re all together now, isn’t it?”
“Almost all of us,” Jules reminds her kindly, “Vika wasn’t able to get away from the hotel— but she promised she’ll be at our next little get-together.”
“Vika?” Olive asks, the unfamiliar name having piqued her interest.
“One of my school friends,” Juliet replies, the glow of happiness surrounding her seeming to intensify, “We drifted apart a bit after graduation, but we’ve since reconnected and it’s been wonderful.”
“She’s been a darling addition to our little group here, you two will absolutely adore her,” Jean assures Olive and Val.
Jo, Jean, and Juliet fill Olive and Val in about their time spent with Vika, as if trying to fill the space where she should be.
“I can’t wait to meet her,” Val says, red lips turned up into a sweet smile, “She sounds lovely.”
They talk for hours, though it seems like no time has passed at all when John enters the diner, scanning the room for Juliet, followed by several other men.
“Oh goodness, is it that time already?” Juliet glances at her watch as her fiancé makes his way over to their little booth.
“Hi sweetheart,” John says, bending down to press a chaste kiss to her cheek, then nodding to the rest of the girls, “Ladies. Olive, Val, very good to see you again.”
“Wonderful to see you, Brady.” Val grins.
“Congratulations, by the way,” Olive says in a mock-offended tone, “I can't believe I had to wait two entire weeks to find out you proposed, Brady.”
The smile on his face stretches into a wide grin, seeing right through the act, “Well, you’re all invited to the wedding, will that be enough to make it up to you?”
“I suppose, “ Olive replies with a smile, her eyes going soft as her gaze drifts to the blue-eyed mustachioed man standing next to Brady, “Hi, honey.”
“Hey, Ollie,” the man replies sweetly, sliding into the booth next to her, then turning back to Brady, gesturing to the little group gathered around, “So, Brady, you gonna introduce us?”
With a good-natured roll of his eyes, John settles next to Juliet in the booth, gesturing between her and the boys.
“Gentlemen, this is my fiancée. Juliet.”
She gives him a tender smile, a swell of warmth rushing through her at her name on his lips alongside fiancée, though she soon remembers her manners and turns her attention back to the men, the names of whom John is currently listing— she had heard lots about them from the girls, but seeing them and putting faces to names was another thing entirely.
Rosie Rosenthal— the man Jo had been worrying over for months since he signed up for a second tour— gives her a kind smile, mustache twitching upwards. Harry Crosby— Jean’s beloved Bing— a softspoken man with kind brown eyes, greets her with a “Pleasure to meet you.” Everett Blakely beams, reaching over to greet her with a firm handshake, hazel eyes sparkling as he tells her how happy he is to finally meet the girl “Brady wouldn’t shut up about”, the comment bringing a blush to her cheeks. James Douglass— the man settled next to Olive, blue eyes bright and happy— perks up at her name.
“So I have you to thank for the Shakespeare lessons!”
“Yes, I’m glad they came in handy,” Juliet laughs, glancing pointedly at Olive. In one of his early letters, Johnny had asked for some of her particular favorite passages to pass on to Dougie in an attempt to help him woo Olive, and she was happy to see that they had helped— especially after she’d heard about the “I hope” incident.
“I mean, I don’t think I was that bad before, but—”
“‘I hope,’ sweetheart.”
“You are never gonna let that go, are you Ollie?”
“Never,” Olive beams, her smile matching the one on Dougie’s face.
The introductions quickly turn into another hour of talking before Juliet realizes how much time has passed. After a series of rushed goodbyes and long hugs, John ushers her into the car to begin the drive back upstate.
“Well? What did you think?”
“Of your friends? Johnny, they’re all wonderful,” Juliet smiles, “I'm so looking forward to getting to know them more. And Olive and Val! I feel like I’ve known them forever.”
She turns smiling to look out the window at the blur of trees passing by, green eyes turned golden in the setting sun.
“Yes, I think we’ll all be very good friends.”
“It was nice of Benny to offer to escort Vika home,” John observes a week later on their way home from their informal engagement party— they had gathered all of their friends at one of their favorite restaurants in the city, with the addition of Benny DeMarco and Juliet’s dear friend Ruthvika Patel— formerly “Ruthie”, now “Vika” thanks to the encouragement of the girls.
“Well of course he did,” Juliet laughs, “He’s absolutely smitten.” She sighs happily, “I knew he’d like her.”
“Really? How could you tell?”
“Are you joking, honey? He could hardly take his eyes off her the whole time,” she reaches over to poke him playfully, “Very similar to a certain someone I met in college.”
“Wha—? Okay, I was not that obvious…” John glances over at her, “Was I?”
“A little bit.”
“Well anyway,” he glosses over this revelation entirely, “I know DeMarco, if he likes her that much he’ll be asking her out in no time.”
“No, I hope he takes his time,” Juliet says, “Vika’s shy, and I don’t think she’s ever been in a relationship before. It’ll be better if they get to know each other as friends first.”
“Well, it’ll be interesting to see how it goes. They seemed to be getting along.”
“We’ll see if there’s any progress next week.”
“Next week?”
“Remember, your golf game with the boys? The girls and I are going shopping for the wedding while you all are out.”
“Shopping? But I thought you already had a dress, honey.”
Juliet shoots him a look.
“I need other things besides a dress, my love.”
“Of course, of course,” John says, holding one hand up in surrender, “I hope you girls have fun.”
“Thank you, honey.” Her tone is sincere as she reaches to intertwine her fingers, the car slowing as they pull up to the Thompson home.
“Hey,” he murmurs, turning to face her, “I love you.”
Her heart goes soft as he leans in to press a tender kiss to her mouth, pulling away just enough to meet her eyes.
“And I can’t wait to marry you.”
“I love you so much,” Juliet says softly, leaning in for another quick kiss, lingering as their eyes meet before she reluctantly slips out of the car, “I’ll see you soon, honey.”
“Oh!” She calls, pausing as she makes her way up the front walk, “Do you still want help with putting together those lesson plans?”
“I'd love that,” he smiles, “Come over tomorrow? I know my mother would love to see her future daughter-in-law.”
“Yes! I can’t wait to catch up with her,” Juliet replies, lighting up at the prospect of seeing Mrs. Alice Brady.
John shakes his head, “Sometimes I wonder if you’re marrying me just to get to her.”
“Oh no, you caught me,” Juliet laughs, “What can I say, honey? We bonded.”
He chuckles, giving his fiancée a fond smile, “I’m glad you two get along so well. See you tomorrow?”
“See you tomorrow,” she confirms, blowing one last kiss his way before making her way inside, John only pulling away once the door is closed behind her.
One week— and one delightful visit to Mrs. Alice Brady— later, she and John are once again driving into the city.
“What are you girls shopping for again?”
“Just some accessories. And Jean said she was looking for a new dress— oh, and Olive wanted to stop by a bookstore at some point if there’s time—”
The corner of his smile twitches, just barely holding back a fond laugh, but all her fiancé says is, “Sounds like you have quite the day planned. I can’t wait to hear all about it.”
“Careful what you wish for, sweetheart,” Juliet laughs, “The girls and I will be talking your ear off at dinner.”
“I’ll tell the fellas to be prepared.”
“You girls have fun!”
“We’ll meet you for dinner at 6, alright?”
Juliet, Jo, Jean, Val, and Olive all wave off their respective men— and Vika shyly waves off Benny— with promises that they’d be at the restaurant at the agreed-upon time.
The boys went off to their golf game, and the girls drag Juliet along the bustling New York streets for the most important shopping day of her life.
“Oh Jules, look at that!” Jean gushes from her place beside her friend, pointing to a lace and tulle fascinator displayed in a boutique window.
Giggling, they descend upon the boutique, searching through the merchandise with girlish delight.
“Remind me, what does your dress look like, Jules?” Jo asks, picking through a selection of white gloves.
“Mama’s fixing up her own dress for me,” Juliet says with a wistful sigh, “I’ve always loved it. Ivory satin, gorgeous full skirt, pearls on the bodice…”
“Oh, it sounds lovely,” Val smiles, “Don’t you think, Vika?”
Vika glances up from where she’s fiddling with the lace of a fascinator, looking almost surprised to be included in the conversation even after several months of being embraced as a part of their little group.
“Hm? Oh!” She smiles shyly, “Yes, it sounds beautiful, Jules.”
“Oooh, what about this?” Olive holds up a truly ostentatious floral headdress bursting with tulle, “It’ll go perfectly with your bouquet.”
“I think that might be a bit much for Johnny.” Juliet laughs, glancing to make sure the woman who’d greeted them as they walked in is still busy helping another customer before whispering, “Is that what people wear to weddings in the future?”
“Not quite,” Olive giggles, “But you’re right, let’s find something else.”
“Jules,” Vika calls from a secluded corner of the store, “What about this?”
Juliet and Olive exchange a glance and follow her voice to the rest of the girls examining a selection of hats. Vika is standing next to a sweet ivory pillbox hat, a tulle veil attached at the top beneath a cluster of pearls.
Juliet is speechless.
“Isn’t it perfect?” Vika asks, brown eyes sparkling.
“It is,” Juliet squeals, rushing over to pick it up.
The girls cluster around a nearby mirror as she tries it on, and squeals of “gorgeous!” and “oh, you look beautiful, Jules!” echo out from their little corner of the boutique, tapering off awkwardly at the glares of the other customers.
Juliet laughs as she takes it off, then blanches when she sees the price tag.
“Well… it is gorgeous, but maybe we can find something else.” She says regretfully as she places it back on the display.
“What? No!” Jean frowns, “Honey, you’ve waited so long for this, you deserve it!”
“Jean, you’re sweet, but I just don’t have enough to be spending like that right now,” Juliet explains, “Come on, I’m sure we can find another option.”
Even as she says it and turns away, her eyes drift longingly back to the hat waiting on the shelf, settling there for just a moment before Juliet shakes herself and begins wandering back through the store.
There’s a series of whispers behind her, which Juliet assumes is the girls figuring out which section to peruse next, and the future Mrs. Brady finds herself back in front of the fascinators, trying to muster up the same enthusiasm she had when she first walked in.
“Jules?” Vika’s voice comes from behind her, and she jumps.
“Didn’t mean to scare you,” Her friend says apologetically, “ But, well… I think we’re ready to go if you are.”
Juliet turns, seeing the girls clustered behind Vika with poorly hidden smiles and a small hatbox held in Jean’s arms.
“Oh girls, you didn’t…”
“We all chipped in.” Jo beams.
“You deserve it, chicken,” Olive says, “It’s your wedding.”
A swell of emotion rises in Juliet’s chest, and it’s all she can do to squeak out a soft “I love you girls” before pulling them into a group hug.
“So do the two of you have a plan for after the wedding?” Jo asks as they stroll down to yet another boutique.
“I’m sure they do,” Olive says, eyebrows waggling.
“Oh hush!” Jo scolds with a playful swat to Olive’s arm, “Not like that. Jules, you know what I mean.”
Juliet nods, the blush at Olive’s comment fading in favor of a brilliant smile threatening to overtake her.
“There’s the sweetest little house for sale a few streets away from us,” she gushes, “Johnny’s been saving up, and his mother and my parents have offered to pitch in as well.”
“That’s very kind of them,” Jean says, “I can’t imagine how excited you must be— I remember how much I was looking forward to starting a life with Bing.”
“I am…”
Despite the joy in her voice, Juliet’s smile has dimmed the slightest bit.
 “I am, it’s just…”
The girls pause, identical frowns on their faces as they drift over to an awning over a dark storefront and wait patiently for Juliet to find the words.
“Sometimes it doesn’t feel real?” She finally says, her voice distant and soft, fingers worrying at the ring snug on her finger, “Like… like I’m in this wonderful dream, and at some point I’m going to wake up and he’ll be back in that place, and I’m alone again—”
“Oh, honey.”
Jo and Jean are the first to wrap their arms around her, the ones who know exactly how she feels— even after all the hoping and praying that their boys would come home safe, they knew that once they were home it took time to remember they were home for good now, that they were finally allowed to stop worrying and focus on the future ahead.
The girls said as much as they held their friend, trying to impart as much comfort as they could.
“Oh goodness,” Jules lets out a watery laugh, carefully brushing away the tears threatening to spill over and doing her best not to smudge her makeup, “I’m sorry, girls, this was supposed to be a fun day…”
“No, Jules, you have nothing to apologize for,” Olive assures her, “We’re all adjusting to life now that the war’s over, this is part of it. You and John will work through what you have to and build a beautiful life together, I just know it.”
Juliet shoots a grateful smile at the girls surrounding her, gratitude for the friendships they’d formed in such a dark time warming her to her core.
With one final squeeze, she returns to the subject that had gotten them on this path as they continue onward.
“You all absolutely have to come over once we’re all moved in, I’m dying to play hostess for you girls…”
They arrive at dinner promptly at six, the boys already waiting outside for them.
“Did you boys have a good time?” Juliet asks, already beaming as she brushes a chaste kiss to her fiancé’s lips.
“We did,” he smiles into the kiss, “How was your shopping trip? Can I have a peek?”
He makes a show of trying to peek into the hatbox in Juliet’s hands as she playfully swats him away.
“Absolutely not, John Brady, this is for mine and the girls’ eyes only until the wedding.”
“As you wish,” he says, the teasing sparkle in his eyes visibly softening at the mention of their wedding, “I know you’ll look beautiful no matter what, sweetheart.”
She rewards his tender words with another kiss as girls store their purchases safely in their respective vehicles, and the group heads in for dinner.
As promised, the girls chatter away about their shopping day, the boys doing their best to look interested, and vice versa when the topic turns to the boys’ golf game. The one quieter spot at the table is thanks to Benny and Vika— despite the orchestrations of Val and Jules to have them sit together, the two of them are still too shy to do more than say hello to each other when they’re surrounded by the excited conversation of their friends.
Jules catches Val hiss something in Italian to Benny, to which he hisses something in return and redirects his attention to Rosie’s story about the fifth hole.
“How are they doing?” John whispers in her ear, his eyes flicking over to their mostly silent friends.
She shakes her head.
“Looks like still nothing yet,” she whispers back, “but Vika made it sound like they had a very nice time on the way back from the engagement dinner… oh I do wish they’d just talk to each other already.”
“Benny’ll come around,” he assures her, the comforting weight of his hand coming to rest on her knee— nothing improper of course, just letting her know he’s there.
Dinner flies by, aided by laughter and easy conversation, and before she knows it, her Johnny’s dropping her off back at home.
“You’re sure I can’t have just one tiny peek?” He whines once more as he shifts the car into park and she retrieves the hatbox from the backseat.
“No, Johnny,” Juliet replies, doing her best to bite back her smile in an attempt to look scolding and failing utterly, “I promise you’ll see it soon.”
“Soon,” he hums, reaching over to give her hand a squeeze and then tugging her in for a tender kiss.
It’s her turn to beam as he pulls away, warmth filling her as she realizes how soon soon really is.
Still, all she says is “I love you, drive safe, give my love to your mother,” before heading inside her childhood home, a piece of her future tucked inside the box in her arms.
It’s a balmy Saturday afternoon when Juliet takes the car to visit the Brady home. Wedding planning on top of both John and her planning for the upcoming school year has meant their time together is painfully limited, no matter how they try to find time to work together, and frankly? Juliet misses him.
So, an impromptu visit it is.
Armed with a tupperware of her mother’s chocolate chip cookies, she strides up the walk and knocks three times on the blue door, beaming as it opens to reveal Mrs. Alice Brady.
But instead of her usual cheerful smile, John’s mother seems more anxious than she’s seen her since John came home, and concern starts to whirl in the pit of Juliet’s stomach.
“Hello, Mrs. Brady, I— oh. Is everything alright?”
“Hello, sweetheart,” Mrs. Brady puts on a far weaker version of her usual smile, “I’m sorry, John’s… he isn’t doing too well at the moment, honey—”
“What happened?” Juliet interrupts, her mind jumping to the worst possible scenarios.
Mrs. Brady appears torn, her mouth soundlessly opening and closing until she finally speaks again.
“He was helping me organize his father’s study… I— I dropped a book clearing off one of the bookshelves, and—” she takes a breath, forcing herself to continue, “He seems fine physically for the most part, but…” there’s a hint of fear in her eyes as she continues hesitantly, and the pit in Jules’s stomach grows, “he was shaking, he looked terrified, and I couldn’t… I couldn’t get him to recognize me.”
Jules’s hand flies to her mouth, doing her best to comprehend the situation.
“He seemed to be having some kind of attack, but I can’t help but think…” Alice Brady’s eyes meet Juliet’s, almost pleading now, “Maybe seeing you might help?”
”I… are you sure?”
“Absolutely, Juliet.” Mrs. Brady nods, “He may have missed me, but it wasn’t me he was fighting to come home to so he could propose. I have a feeling you’ll be able to help him through this in a way I can’t.”
With one last sad flicker of a smile, John’s mother leads Juliet through the house to the study that used to belong to Mr. Brady.
Her heart drops as she sees John crouched in a defensive position, blue eyes wild and unseeing, his breaths shallow as his eyes dart around the room looking for some unknown threat.
“Johnny,” she breathes, willing her voice not to break as she approaches him slowly. “Sweetheart?”
He stiffens at the sound but still doesn’t seem to recognize her and it’s breaking her heart to see him like this.
“Johnny,” she breathes again, using slow steady movements to crouch in front of him, “It’s me, honey, it’s Juliet. Your Jules.”
Maybe touching him would help—
It decidedly does not, as he flinches away from her, a sharp, gruff “no!” escaping him when she places a hand on his arm as if she’d brandished a gun in front of him.
Okay, different tactic.
“Can you look at me, Johnny?” She tries, pulling back and thinking for a moment before slowly brushing her fingertips to his.
It’s a soft enough touch that it doesn’t startle him, but it still hasn’t pulled him out of… whatever this attack is.
“Please—” she swallows, trying to keep her voice steady as she slowly, inch by inch, threads their fingers together, “Please, Johnny, it’s me, it’s Jules, please look at me—”
He’s still shaking, but his shallow breathing is slowly returning to normal as he blinks, eyes focusing once more on what’s in front of him.
“Johnny?” She says softly, squeezing his hand gently, trying to ground him.
“Jules?” He breathes distractedly, as if labeling the person in front of him rather than speaking to her.
And then the realization hits, and there’s a sharp inhale as he jerks away.
“Oh, God— oh, God, no, you shouldn’t have— when did you—”
“Sweetheart, are you alright?” She asks frantically, trying to get him to meet her eyes.
He’s shaking his head frantically, “What are you doing here, you weren’t supposed to— you can’t see me like this—”
It’s that last part that hits her. That makes her realize this isn’t the first time this has happened.
“This… Johnny, this has happened before?”
“It’s nothing,” he practically spits, refusing to meet her eyes, “just… remembering things from that place, I’m— I’m working on it, I swear.”
That place, she knows, is the stalag. Neither of them have been able to say the word yet, but a trailed off sentence or indeed, that place, shoved in just the right spot and they know what the other means.
“My love,” Juliet says hesitantly, having some idea of what his reaction to this suggestion will be. Still, she persists.
“If you feel like you need to talk about it— I don’t know what happened, but—”
Johnny’s definitely avoiding her eyes now as he says in a low, forceful tone— his voice is distant still, but not as if it’s lost in memory in some far off place, no; this is the detached voice of someone shoving their emotions deep, deep down— “We were stuck there for… for far too long. It wasn’t good. Now I’m home. That’s it.”
Juliet nods, recognizing when to step back even as she murmurs, “I know, sweetheart. But if you ever do want to talk about it… I’m here. I don’t want you to worry about scaring me or anything,” she adds, knowing that that’s at least part of why he avoids this topic with her, “All that matters is that we work through this together. Whenever you’re ready.”
He gives her a wordless nod, and the two of them are left to sit in silence, hands intertwined, until Mrs. Brady comes bustling in with a glass of water.
“Oh, thank goodness,” she breathes a sigh of relief once she sees her son, promptly fussing over him “Are you alright, sweetheart? Here, drink this— let’s get you settled in the chair here—”
John is moved to a soft, squishy dark green armchair nearby, doing his best to calm his mother’s nerves.
“I’m fine, Ma, I promise—”
“I’m so sorry, sweetheart, me and my butterfingers did this—”
“Ma, it’s not your fault, really—”
“Mrs. Brady,” Juliet interrupts, gently placing a hand over Mrs. Brady’s nervously fluttering ones, “he’s okay. It’s alright.”
John's mother lets out a long exhale, taking a moment before giving Juliet’s hands a grateful squeeze. “Yes. Thank you, darling.”
“Always,” Juliet smiles, her demeanor softening as her gaze drifts from Alice to John.
Always. She’s about to start her always with him, and if she’s honest? It’s a little nerve wracking, thinking about that after what just happened. Not in a bad way, of course, just… it’s going to be an adjustment, navigating what her Johnny brought back from the war with him.
He made it back, she reminds herself, that’s all that matters.
They’ll work through what they have to, like Olive said, and then… she has forever to be with him. Home and safe and together.
“You alright, sweetheart?” John murmurs, brows furrowing at her silence.
She blinks, then gives him a smile that she hopes conveys even an ounce of the love she feels for him right now.
“I’m fine, Johnny,” she assures him, “I just remembered I brought cookies. And you look like you could use one.”
“The chocolate chip ones your mother makes?” John brightens, eyes lighting up like a child in a candy store.
“They’re in the kitchen, I’ll get them,” Mrs. Brady chimes in, leaving them to try to smother their giggles as they catch a mumble of “as if he didn’t eat the last of my snickerdoodles just yesterday, this boy…”
The moment his mother is gone, John wordlessly draws her into his lap, his arms wrapping around her and squeezing ever so slightly
“You sure you’re alright, darling?” Juliet asks, snuggling into him as he pulls her close..
The smile that greets her as she looks up at him isn’t quite the same one that she knew before he was shipped off. It isn’t stretched quite so wide, doesn’t reach his eyes in the same way.
But she smiles back just the same as he assures her, “I’m perfect, Jules.”
“Now, are you sure you’re alright?”
She takes a moment to consider it and decides that right here, in her fiancé’s arms, mere weeks from marrying him…
“I’m perfect, too, Johnny.”

Hi Teach! Now that MHA is over I was wondering how you feel?
Personally I don't know what to do with myself (I grew up with this series), but I'm glad we at least have the Vigilantes anime coming up eventually ( ´﹀` ٥ ).。O
In the meantime I hope you've been doing well! (*^▽︎^)
Hello my lovely Michi how are you doing?
Oh it's the end of an era isn't it? After 10 years of laughter, tears, hope and despair, we finally say goodbye to the characters we grew to love (some we hated) and it's not going to be easy.
That being said, I have to say that I did not agree with a lot of Hori's choices when it came to deciding his characters' end game (namely the todoroki's) but I guess I get it, it takes a lot of time and effort to weekly deliver a -hopefully- captivating chapter, and doing so for a decade can be too much to handle, and it sadly was for Hori.
Regardless of all that, mha will remain one of the best things that ever happened to me, because thanks to it, I got to further explore my love for writing, was able to meet a lot of amazing people most of whom I'm proud to call friends, and I also discovered many talented writers and artists.

ty for sharing !! just wanted to stop by and say that i am in love with this concept 🥺
Tumblr media
okay not even joking this literally is me right now because the absolute talent behind one of the best bakugo works and you take me the way I am messages ME?!
(also so ok I’m a big reader on ao3 especially for bnha fic so at first it didn’t hit me that you wrote it and then for a split second I was like “wait why does their name sound familiar- OH MY GOD??” So FORGIVE ME IM SORRY!!)
But lovely Willow oh my goodness… I really can’t explain how bright my entire being feels seeing your message I can’t thank you enough for dropping in to send something because I am just 🥹 and probably will be like all day
But yes TEAM MANDO BAKU!! AHHHHH 😭 he really does fit the role so well doesn’t he? Our chaotic angel queen @ofmermaidstories mentioned him with a certain green baby and my brain malfunctioned because he’d be such a sucker for foundlings
And okay…Honestly 👀 depending on how the current season of the mandalorian ends I might just take the jump and write him to deal with the pain™️ LMAO
For now I knew I had to leave you with something because you are as sweet as can be and i wish I could put into words and explain how much your message means to me so this will have to do, thank you 💐

The two of you would be stuck in the cave for a while.
“What happened to your damn shitty sorcerer powers huh? Can’t you move the dumb rocks?” Bakugo’s snarled modulated voice cuts through your thoughts and you sigh exhausted already.
You knew about his list of accolades.
One of the strongest mandalorain clan leaders that helped liberate their home planet of Mandalore. A war hero notorious for using not just a jet pack but also specially crafted beskar gauntlets that helped him fire cannon like explosions from his fists. He’s a smart strategist and commander, has earned the respect of the Jedi council for willing to work with your kind.
But he makes you want to pound on his metal helmet head with your lightsaber until it knocks some sense into him.
“It’s sometimes not as simple as moving rocks. I have to save my energy just in case those troopers come back.” You reply sharply. “Besides we both sent out distress signals, someone will come. We just have to wait.”
“Maybe you just can’t move the rocks.” It’s said so casually as Bakugo tries to survey the blocked off exit. The most childish thought rises in you to use his metal body to dig out of the rocks like an awful shovel.
So you breathe- inhale, exhale.
Thankfully the caverns glow from the tiny insects living in the rocks. It’s enough light that you can rummage through the ration packs in your bag.
“Come on,” you offer. “We need to eat something.”
“No.” Bakugo replies gruff. “We could be here a while. Can’t eat all that now.”
He’s right. You’re not telling him that of course. So instead you set your pack back down, close your eyes and try to mediate. But his awfully loud boots stomping around, crunching on every possible rock, makes your face scrunch frustrated. You try to plug up the annoyance leaking in fast.
“Relax.” You say to him or mainly to yourself.
Bakugo scoffs. Your eyes peak open to possibly glare at him. But his back is to you. The obsidian coated beskar he proudly wears is something striking. You even admire the beauty. You also notice you’ve been admiring his broad shoulders that seem to be even broader now with his hands on his hips. You shut your eyes fast.
You’re a knight. You’ve fought wars, survived training to become carved into a harbor of good and peace. You are a lightening rod for the force. You can’t falter, can’t waver.
Your stomach suddenly growls so loud that your eyes snap open horrified.
Bakugo’s helmed face even whips towards you.
“Was that your stomach? Are you part rancor or something because I had my damn suspicions…”
You almost scream at him. You think the force itself might be giggle behind your back.
Embarrassment chokes your mind as you sputter to even think of something. Until the warrior sighs. Bakugo pulls something from one of the pouches attached to his belt.
More ration packs.
“Don’t eat ‘em all.”
You glare hard at him. He knew you had your own. But, you offer him a quiet thanks. As you munch on the bland protein cube you realize-
“You need to eat too.” You tell the warrior.
A moment passes.
“I’ll be fine.” A fast simple reply from him.
“You said it yourself, we don’t know how long we’ll be in here so you need to eat something.”
“And I’ll cross that fucking bridge when if we get there.”
As if the force itself decided to give you a respite, his stomach growls even louder than yours.
It childish and comedic and you can’t even believe the timing. You can’t help it. You bust out laughing. It’s moments like this that remind you this grouchy feral lothcat of a man is in fact someone true and human beneath the helmet. (Or at least you believe he’s human. Your mind wanders about what he looks like beneath the helmet more than you ever will admit out loud.)
“Eat you idiot!” You laugh but a part of you is already terrified that you momentarily just sounded like him.
Something shifts in the air though, faint but heavy enough to notice. Bakugo goes quiet and everything stills alongside him.
“I can’t. Not yet…not here at least.” Oh.
The helmet.
“Look,” you begin solemn, composed. “I swear on my honor as a Jedi Knight you can trust me-“
“Like hell-” he snaps interrupting you first
“Fine!” But you fire back just as fast interjecting. “Starve I guess!”
The words are sharp. You even hate the taste of them, a poisonous bile still lingering in your mouth. Regret already floods you, a wild drowning current. If the council had heard you they would have been disappointed. You’re disappointed in you. You need to be calm, leveled headed. But you know you’re frustrated, tired and…and you hate the strange feeling that’s been crawling on your skin, growing a festering heat, ever since you met this damn menace. So you sigh, defeated and small.
“I’m sorry. Your creed is important, I understand that and I shouldn’t have said what I said.”
He doesn’t reply, doesn’t say a word. The silence, his silence, you discover is actually worse than any of his worst outbursts.
So you break the thick tensioned soaked air first.
“…if it helps… I have an idea.”
You move to the ground close to him. Then sit down turning your back to him.
“We sit back to back. You’ll sense me moving if I try to turn around, which I promise I won’t. But this way you can eat, even have some water and we can just…just rest.”
You can’t see his eyes even as you stare earnest and even a bit exhausted at him. The mandalorian warrior sighs.
“Fucking fine…but if you dare move I’m setting you on fire.”
“Fair enough.”
The moment Bakugo moves, settles against you back to back, your heart jumps an dizzying spin worthy of a star fighter.
You have never been this close to him, ever.
You’re surprised he actually settled fully pressed against you. His back is solid. The beskar armor is not as cold as you believed it to be, even through your robes. The flickering thought of the differences between your form and his makes your throat get tight as you swallow back something clogging your throat.
A gentle hiss of a noise comes. It gently cracks the air and out of instinct, out of panic, you close your eyes.
In and out, you steady your breathing, focus your thoughts to be mindful of the force. However, even as hard as you try, you wonder so deeply about what he looks like.
“Thanks…ya damn shitty Jedi.”
Then his voice, Bakugo’s actual voice unmodulated, clear and even more rough than you imagined, floats in the air. It gets snagged in your heart.
You squeeze your closed eyes tighter.
During the trials to become a knight, your mentors explained repeatedly that the oath, this path, would be difficult. The temptations would be many and they would be strong. You were taught so many ways to fight and be victorious. But you now fear how hard it might be to fight against the temptation growing in you. Because how are you to win against a warrior considered one of the greatest in the galaxy…
Because you realize slowly, then all at once-
Why did you not just offer to close your eyes? Why was your first instinct to offer sitting as close to him as you could?
