Johns Enchantress
Dinner with the Shelby's
Chapter 3
Dinner with Johns Kids.
Dinner was eventful. John cursed Arthur for not coming. He begged his brother to come and offset some tension between him and the elder DeGhant. Arthur had told him to fuck off. Said something about having 4 kids, so what was some old woman. Thomas had told him that if he could survive the war, he could handle a dinner with the matriarch and some children he created.
He’d get them back later, he made a promise to himself. He looked at the pea’s scattered on the table rolling off of kids plates as they chatted about frogs, math and his eldest going on about dipping a girl's hair in an inkwell. Sabrina’s laugh ricocheted off his dining room hall walls as she relayed all the things she and their father had done to each other. He was smiling until he realized some of his boys were taking notes. This would be an adventurous future parent teacher meeting he just knew.
“Well, there was the time that he got me upset by embarrassing me in front of a boy I liked and knew well in our camp. I snuck a red piece of fabric into his mom’s laundry tub and dyed their underwear pink. I guess your father and Uncle Thomas had been bickering with each other and their mom all day. She thought they were playing a trick on each other so they got a whipping while I laughed by my caravan. Grandma made me apologize later but I don’t think your grandmother believed I was capable of doing that and your dad had pink shirts and underwear for months. Sabrina and his children dissolved into a giggle fit while he rolled his eyes. She was still troubled yet this time he didn’t mind as much.
“Do it now and I’ll have you working numbers with me at the betting shop to pay for my underwear.” His kids giggled further and knocked over their water. Katie was quick to fetch her napkin and clean it up before the spill soaked in too far. He caught Sabrina’s curious expression.
He caught on quickly remembering that he’s been told she’d stayed in school until her obligation was fulfilled in highschool.
“I’d honestly like that.” She quipped. Her grandmother's glass hovered near her lips and she and
John made eye contact. “What, it would keep me safe because I’d still be under their protection plus we know the Shelbys. Maybe I can even pick up a few business tips and bring them back to camp to help our money and future endeavors expand more quickly.” Her grandmother seemed pleased with her answer and put down her glass.
John went back to eating, ignoring the chatter for a moment. He wondered if she’d keep up with him at the betting shop and make it like a competition to see who would write things down faster. If they’d get close around the desk as they looked over the books…or even if he could pay Tommy to find a way to close the shop and leave them alone in John’s office without arousing suspicion in his Aunt Pol.
“No, he never dipped my hair in ink. Don’t think your dad cared for writing too much then outside of forced schooling.” She was very into her tale to realize he was staring at her. She was excitable and enjoyed telling tales about their adventures as children. He didn't think he’d tire of her voice.
“ He did wait till I fell asleep outside my caravan and tied my hair to a railing. When I awoke, I went to sit up and smacked my head against the stoop and rail. I caught him and your uncles laughing. I started crying and they got smacked upside their heads by their mother. I milked that for days. Your father and uncles were stuck playing with me and giving me rides on their mare.”
John laughed into his drink causing himself to choke. Oh, his kids shouldn’t be hearing this. He was definitely getting called into the principal's office in the next few days.
“Why were you always getting da in trouble?” John Jr asked quizzically. “Girls are trouble.” He added puffing up. His sister glared at him as the adults' mirth spilled forth.
“Yeah, they are, they don’t grow out of it either.” He said amused. He threw his head back and laughed. His cheeks hurt. Sabrina had stuck her tongue out at him and in turn her grandmother had flicked water at her face sending everyone into a laughing fit.
“Forgive her, she’s still an unmannered brat apparently.” It was said in fun and Sabrina pretended to be offended. John was feeling better about their stay now. Maybe it wouldn't be as stern and uptight as he originally thought. Dinner seems unending though.
The kids wouldn’t stop hammering anyone with questions though.
Wilimeana sat at the head of the table opposite of John. His eldest boy sat near her and caught
glances at her before casting his eye on his plate. He was intimidated by the older women and rightfully so. She was trying to hide his amused smile every time she caught him peeking. It was a game now. His other three clustered around Sabrina like little chicks and peppered her with questions about her caravan, spells to cast on classmates and sour teachers and so on. He looked at the woman's plate. She hadn’t taken a bite. Her head kept turning to whatever side had a louder child talking. She couldn’t even get a word in but she was smiling sweetly.
“Hey, let the women folk eat.” His voice rang out more sharply than intended. The elder DeGhant women seemed relieved to have a break from the chatter. She probably wasn’t used to it since her kids had moved away. As far as John knew Sabrina was the one who cared for the matriarch. They certainly seemed close. John knew if he wanted to pursue the blonde, he had to win her grandmother over first. He wasn’t sure a good house and unruly children were the best trophies but he was fiercely proud of both. Martha had made this house a home, but it had dimmed once he got back from War and then the realization that she was truly gone and honestly gone had finally hit him.. He ate with silence until Katie spoke up again.
“So daddy says you're a princess and your grandma is a queen. Does that make you royalty? “ She asked with glittering innocent eyes. Sabrina covered her mouth with a fork, failing to conceal her radiant smile.
“Were certainly known among our clans.” She nodded and patted the girl's head causing Katie to beam from the inside out. Wilimena smiled and looked over his kids fondly. That surprised John. He didn’t know that women had muscles in her face anymore that didn’t just frown. She was still a beautiful woman for an elder, John couldn’t pretend she wasn’t a looker. He wondered if Sabrina had gotten that in her bloodline.
“You’re great grandfather Shelby was a King among his clan.” The matriarch replied. The kids went wild after hearing that clamoring about being royalty themselves. John laughed and addressed the elderly women.
“Shouldn’t have told them that. They’ll be acting like proper roosters in class tomorrow.” He said. His eyes widened when everyone laughed. His kids starting clucking and flapping their wings like chickens. He wasn’t expecting that reaction.
“Comes by it honestly huh?” The two women said in unison causing him to roar with laughter. Maybe this wouldn’t be as hostile as he’d imagined.

Now playing: When I Look At You~ Miley Cyrus
Shia's Pov
Miami, Florida
Two weeks later
Today, Brian was coming over to have dinner with my parents. Brian is officially my boyfriend now. After that first date we went on a lot more dates and after the 5th date he asked me to be his girlfriend, and I said yes.
I'm an old school girl even though I'm only 23. I believe if a man wants to date you, he should take you on a few dates, get to know you real good, and then ask you to be his girlfriend. That's how I believe men should be with every woman. Because I honestly can't stand this hookup culture shit. I was raised by a father who told me I shouldn't lower my standards for no man. That I shouldn’t stand for the bare minimum. But, let me tell you something, Brian goes beyond the bare minimum. His fine ass makes me wanna yoke his ass up, but we gotta have some decorum round hea. Make him work for it.
I pulled up in my parents' driveway. My dad was still at work, but he was coming home early. My sisters were out grocery shopping. My brother's Quez and Cole were married, so they won't be coming down with the kids till later. Quez lives in Virginia and Cole in California. I don't get to see them a lot, so when they come down, they stay for at least a month. Especially so we can have time with the kids. Lemir is engaged to his girlfriend, but they live in here in Miami, so they'll be here before dinner. And my youngest brother and sister Huey and Najia. He's a senior, and she's a junior.
I looked over at Brian, who softly bounced his leg and seemed to be deep in thought. I placed my hand on his leg, making him look at it as he smiled, nervously biting his lip.
"What's wrong, bubba?" He shook his head and cleared his throat, "nothing, I'm fine. I'm just excited." I snorted and unhooked my seat belt, climbing into his lap as he placed his hands securely on my hips, holding me in place.
"You know you're not a good liar. Well, at least not to me. I can see right through you. But, I promise you absolutely nothing to worry about. My mom is the sweetest person ever. My dad is a little rough around the edges, but what protective father isn't? My family is overprotective, but they are loving people. So you don't have anything to worry about."
I looked into his eyes, watching his body relax some, as his hands squeezed my hips. I wrapped my arms around his shoulders and kissed his jaw softly.
"You okay now?" I asked, smiling sweetly at him. He nodded and gave me that smile that turned my stomach into knots.
I laughed and patted his arm, "Okay, sweet boy, let's go."
We got out of the car and walked up the driveway. I already talked to my mom as we were on our way over here. And I knew she would be in the back gardening. One thing about my mom is that she had an amazing green thumb. Grew her own fruits and vegetables and plants. My dad built a green house in the backyard just for her.
I held Brian's hand, rubbing my thumb over his knuckles as we walked in the backyard, seeing my mom gathering tomatoes.
"Hey, Mama." I greeted her, as she smiled up at me getting up.
"Hey, Mi love, how are yuh?" She hugged me, swaying me from side to side. She then looked at Brian, giving him a big smile as he stuck out his hand.
"Nice to meet you, Mrs. Brown." She looked down at his hand, and waved him off.
"Wi hug inna dis family. Suh gimme a hug." She said, holding out her arms as she gave him a hug.
I stood at the side them watching them and smiling. I already told my mom about Brian, and she said she had a good feeling about him, even without already meeting him.
"Okay, wah don't we inside, huh?" She said, leading us in the house. As we walked in Brian looked around at the family pictures, and said how warm it felt.
"So, Brian, Shia tells me yuh from Barstow?" My mom asked, Brian, setting down the tomatoes on the table.
"When mi was in college, I once knew a woman from Barstow. She was di smartest person, and i knew. She had dark brown hair an blue eyes. She really neva get along wid her family. But, her an her mada had a great relationship."
I brought over some lemonade for them watching Brian interested, listening to her story.
"She was mi best friend. We practically did everyting togetha, she had dis boyfriend dat mi absolutely despised, No gud for her. Would boss her round an belittle her. One day she tell mi she pregnant an mi was happy for her, because she was happy. But mi neva like dat she got pregnant by dat man."
I brought over some of the new fruit tart she just made. And cut a slice for Brian. Even though he's not gonna eat it right now, he was too focused on her story.
"Mi had to move away, suh wi kinda lose contact. But mi receive pictures in the mail of her two boys she had. Afta dat mi couldn't get in contact wid her anymore." Mama finished her story looking Brian with nothing but love in her eyes.
I looked in between them, trying to put two to two together and smiled softly when I realized.
"Yuh, look just like Angie." She said, softly making Brian stiffen in his seat. His eyes began water, making her reach over and grab his hands.
"Yuh, haven't seen her in a long time have yuh?" She asked, lowly.
He sniffed and quickly looked down, wiping his eyes, shaking his head. "No, I haven't." I walked behind him, wrapping my arms around his shoulders and kissing the top of his head.
"Mi, no know what yuh did. Or what happened. But, yuh need to go see her and your brother. It's like too short to dwell on the past. I'm sure she thinks of yuh everyday."
I lifted Brian's head back so he could look at me and wiped his eyes. I could tell he's never been this vulnerable around people. I whispered it was gonna be okay and told him he needed to see his mom and brother.
"What y'all in her -" we looked to see who walked in, and it was my little sister, Najia, walked in coming from school.
"Oh, my bad, I didn't know I was interrupting." She said lowly, looking at Brian as he cleared his throat and smiled at her.
"Hi, I'm Najia, you must be Brian, right?" She asked, sticking out her hand, and he gladly shook it.
She looked at our mama and smirked, "You making people cry with your kindness again, ma'am"
We laughed as Mama rolled her eyes and told her to go do her homework. Mama and I got started on dinner as Brian talked to her.
I couldn't help to wonder if this was fate or not.

The Summer it Came True

Chapter 6
Pairing: Bangchan × black female reader named Kel
Word Count: 1514
Disclaimer: this chapter contains angst and kissing.
More under the cut!
You had decided you were going to tell chan how you felt about him. There was a possibility he felt the same way too because there was no way he acted the way he did towards you to just "be nice."
While he was getting plates to put the pizza into, you decided to make your move.
"Chan, can I tell you something?" You asked in the most none worrying tone you could pull out of your throat, but it obviously didn't work. Chan looked at you with nothing but worry on his face.
"Yeah, sure, what is it? Are you okay?" He asked. Just as you were about to make out another sentence, Chan's phone rang. It was his mom. He had to take the call. He used a hand sign to signal that he'd be back, and he dashed upstairs to talk to his mom.
You waited for a while, and Chan was still talking to his mom, so you decided that you couldn't just sit there and do nothing. You cleaned up a bit and decided to go upstairs to change into your night wear.
That's the mistake you made. You should have just stayed downstairs and waited for him. Why did you decide to go upstairs at that moment. What you overheard Chan telling his mom changed your perspective on things.
"Yeah, mom, I told you I bumped into Kel at a store, and I'm staying at the beach house with her till I come over to meet you guys."
You couldn't quite make out what his mom said, but it sounded like she said, "Make sure to take good care of her."
"Of course I will, mom. She's like a little sister to me." He replied.
Huh? Did you hear correctly? Did this man just refer to you as a little sister? You were both the same age, for goodness sakes.
Is that why he was treating you the way he was? Because he saw you as a "little sister?" His actual little sister was alive and well for all you knew.
God, you were so stupid. Look at you going to confess your feelings for this man, thinking he felt the same way because he was being nice to you and feeding into your delusions.
This was so embarrassing. A little sister? Was that all you were to him?
You were still standing by the door when Chan opened it and was met with your already tear filled eyes. He looked really concerned when he saw you. His expression changed from neutral to worried almost instantly.
"Kel, what happened? Are you okay?" He asked.
"Is that all you you think of me?" You asked with more tears welling up in your eyes.
"Huh?" He said, looking genuinely confused.
"You just told your mom that I was like a little sister to you. Is that what you see me as? "A little sister?" Your voice cracked a bit with that question.
"What? Were you eavesdropping on my call?" Was that even the appropriate question for him to ask you at this moment?
"No, I wasn't. I just came up to go change my clothes and I heard just that part. Now answer me. Do you see me as only a little sister?" You were trying so hard to hold your tears back from falling.
"Kel, what's going on? Where is this coming from?" Did he really not get it?
"I like you, Chan." You said without thinking.
"I've liked you for thirteen whole years, chan. I was going to tell you the way I felt years ago when we were still kids, but I never got the chance to because you were gone. Gone without a trace." You started your monologue.
"I know it's pathetic. Who could like someone for thirteen years? Me, apparently. I was never happy with any of the guys I got into relationships with because I was always thinking about you."
"I always hoped you would come back for me one day, and you did come back. You're here right now. But you didn't come back for me. I'm nothing but a "little sister" to you.
"I honestly thought you were treating me the way you did because you had some sort of feelings for me, but it turns out I was in the sister zone all along.
"Just to make one thing clear, I'm not your sister. I'm a grown woman. I'm a grown woman with feelings for you. I don't know if I should blame you or myself because I'm stupid for thinking I ever had a chance, but you treated me like you felt the same way. You put ideas into my head all for nothing."
"Here I was thinking the worst answer I could get was a no, but boom, I get hit with the little sister card. You know what? I'm just going to sleep it off. I shouldn't be mad. What did I expect?"
You were done talking, and you didn't bother to wait for him to say a word. You just turned the other way and began walking to your room. Chan was speechless throughout your monologue, and it appeared that he still was.
You expected him to call you back from the end of the hallway and pull you back towards him from your wrist, anything. But you got nothing.
You got into your room, locked the door, and started to sob, laying face down on your bed. You wished that he'd come knock on your door asking you to come out and talk, but he didn't.
After a while, you heard the front door opening. Was he actually leaving? You wanted to go downstairs and check, but you didn't. You weren't supposed to care.
You cried yourself to sleep that night.
When you woke up in the morning, chan wasn't home. His things were still in the room, but there was no sign of him. Where could he have gone? Did he sleep out last night? Was he okay? Should you call him?
No. You weren't supposed to be bothered with any of that. You didn't care.
It was the first time in a while you were having breakfast without Chan. It was quiet. Too quiet. You ended up not finishing your food, and you had nothing planned, so you decided to go continue slaving over the new designs.
Crazy how you almost forgot about work because of him. You made a few new drawings, and these still didn't stick out to you, but you kept them with the ones you made before and went back to the drawing board.
You didn't know when you fell asleep on your desk and you were woken up by the sound of the doorbell ringing. He was back. Probably to pick up his stuff.
You grudgingly made your way downstairs to open the door for him and when you opened the door and moved to the side so he could go in and pick his stuff, he didn't go in. He just stood there.
Had he lost it overnight, or did he have something to say to you?
"What do you wa-" before you could finish asking your question Chan had one hand on your cheek, the other wrapped around your waist, and he had pulled you in for a kiss.
His lips were so warm and soft against yours. The scent of his cologne was intoxicating. The way his lips moved against yours sent you to another place, and you didn't realise that you were barely breathing.
He wasn't breathing either, too, because when he broke the kiss, the two of you came up breathing heavily.
What were you supposed to say. Chan just kissed you. None of the wheels in your brain were rotating the right way.
"I'm sorry, Kel." Thank God he took the initiative to speak because you would have been a blabbering mess.
"I didn't mean any of the stuff I said to my mom. Truth is, I like you too, Kel. I knew I had feelings for you since the day we were forced to play together on the beach."
"I never told you because I knew I was leaving soon, and it'd be useless to tell you that. Plus, i didn't think you felt the same way. I honestly thought I had gotten over you till I bumped into you at the store, and I recognised you just by your eyes.
"You're the main reason I came back to Sydney instead of just going to Melbourne. I wanted to see YOU, Kel. I missed you."
"God, you're so beautiful. Do you know how hard it was for me to control myself while living under the same roof as you? It was driving me insane."
"I love everything about you. Your sarcastic remarks, the way your lips turn over at the corners when you smile, the way your eyes twinkle when you see junk food, the way your curls bounce with any sudden movement you make, the way you take out carrots from your food when you eat because you don't like cooked carrots but you use them to cook anyways because it makes the food look-"
You don't know what made you do what you did, but before chan could finish his sentence, you got on your tippy toes, wrapped your arms around his neck, and kissed him.
The other kiss was child's play compared to this. Chan wrapped your legs around his torso, and you guys were using tongue this time. Not just lips.
You had no idea the next step to take after the kiss, but you decided you weren't going to bother yourself with that and just enjoy the moment.
Other things could wait.

Thought from the last episode, do you think Sam was waiting outside the abandoned factory for Johnny to actually start teaching? Like how'd she manage to time that perfectly? Did she stand outside and listen in on all the bonding and truths and then waited till she heard actually lessons to go in?
I was looking at those like cartoon shoe slippers and the purple robe like who tf is this? I forgot STINGRAY comes back in this season.
Stingray, I get that you're unhappy living at home but to me it looks like you're living the life here. You don't pay rent and have money to burn, you have a nespresso, your mom fills a cake tray with pastries, the house is huge.
The number is 7010 Halbert.
Inside the house his robe is purple, outside the house his robe is blue.
His neighbor is named Greg Hughes and he drives a Miata
Greg's pissed because Stingray's been blasting Metalica all night and I'm surprised Stingrays parents put up with that.
It was actually Exodus's Bonded by Blood.
Oh, this is his sister's house, not his mom's. I guess his mom kicked him out.
Today's the day Stingray's probation ends.
Raymond built a squirrel obstacle course in the back yard. Which is kind of fun. And honestly Greg's a dick. Though who knows if this is the breaking point for him but half the stuff he's said is just all random sorts of demeaning.
Stingrays lost a lot of aerobies to this guys roof.
Greg calls Rayond/Stingray Stink-ray.
Kyler has a limo booked to pick up all the Cobra Kai's going to prom at 6pm. Which, is kinda cute and also so many people to fit into one limo. But I guess, it's a limo.
Tory inviting Robby as a tactical move to prom. And then Silver overhearing all the stuff they'd have to get, clothes a ride, (I guess Robby doesn't want to ride with Kyler)
Silver's fairy god-sensei moment of these kids are going to go to prom, they're going in style. He did pick Robby as his first student after all.
Kreese's face when Stingray shows up. Bud you literally treated him like your favorite puppy when he won the capture the flag and gave you the opponents headband to you from his mouth.
Poor Stingray, he picked Kreese over Johnny without realizing it was the worst choice. Johnny I think would offer an adult class if there were enough kids, so he might not love having Stingray around, but he doesn't kick anyone out of the classes that he teaches.
He knows Eddie and Dieter from the older/original classes of Cobra Kai, and maybe Tory but that's probably it.
Stingrays got some ideas but no one will listen.
Poor Stingray now that Kreese is fully in charge Stingray's got no chance. Even though learning karate is like his dream. Seriously stingray go find Johnny.
Kreese: A joker, an embarrassment, you have no value here.
Meanwhile Raymond looks like he's going to cry.
Meanwhile Silver's stalking around in the background plotting.
Essentially he realized that Stingray wants to be a part of the team so badly that he can use him if he needs to.
We have cheese tray, meat trays, boiled eggs, crostini and sauce
Sibling bickering over cutting the mozerella, and how it'll dry it out.
VANESSA
Lucille is here too!
They've given Anthony 2 more weeks without screentime.
I didn't realize all the LaRussos we know are here at the same time as the Diaz's.
Miguel's surprised and delighted face when he see's Sam is so cute
I just noticed the details of the straps of her dress. That's cool:
oooh and the pattern of Miguel's suit:
Rosa saying Miguel looks more and more like his papa and how that throws Miguel and pisses Carmen off.
Louie trying to talk to Johnny without actually looking at him. 🤣
Louie felt like he had to tell Johnny that he doesn't hang out with the biker guys any more.
Miguel looked so happy when Johnny came over to join them for the photo.
I love how Vanessa just summons Anthony for a photo only for Anthony to immediately show up and be like I thought I was supposed to stay in my room the rest of my life, and Lucille to start asking a bunch of questions.
I get Anthony is grounded because of bullying, but he literally told Daniel he felt a little outside the family because he doesn't have memories of Mr. Miyagi and the whole family is over and rather than include him he's stuck up in his room. Like that just sort of further encompasses you're not part of the family. Like Vanessa and Lucille are here and Anthony wasn't going to get to see them? That feels like it's just going to make the situation worse.
I do appreciate that Louie wraps an arm around Anthony so he doesn't feel quite so just tacked on the end there, and notice how Anthony's actually smiling this time? Though he does go back that grimace no lips smile again for the actual photo.
Carmen's going to make un hornado de chanco for dinner which is a roasted pork leg.
Shannon!
Carmen: I'm Carmen, Johnny's girlfriend. Shannon: Hi, I'm Robby's mom.
Shannon: Don't you have a phone. Johnny: Yeah inside, motioning towards his apartment.
I know he has a landline but does that mean he left his cellphone at home?
Shannon got a new apartment and said Silver came by and gave Robby a car to take to prom. Does this mean Robby's moved back in with Shannon now that she's out of rehab? I wish they would've said he no longer was homeless a while ago. Because until this moment he's been pretty much sleeping at the dojo.
Apparently Silver said: that robby and his date were going to go first class all the way.
Johnny: Robby's going to prom?
For a moment he's probably like shit I missed another moment I should've spent with Robby because I assumed he wasn't going. And Robby's going to be upset because I spent it with Miguel again. But Johnny you can't be there if you don't know these things.
Apparently Silver gave Shannon a wad of 100's , offered to find Shannon a new place to live and offered her a job.
She didn't ask what the new job would be but it made her suspicious.
Shannon: If there's one type of person I know, it's a rich guy who wants something.
Johnny: Son of a bitch
Shannon: I Tried talking to Robby but this guy has his hooks in him.
I kind of wonder what they're thinking. Like Silver is trying to indebt Robby and them to him, I suppose. But at the same time Shannon had no trouble with Amanda and Daniel taking care of Robby and putting her in rehab, the best rehab in the state. But Silver shows up with a car and money and wants Robby to be better taken care of and all their stranger danger rich guy warning signs have flashed red.
It makes me wonder what both of them had happen in their past that triggered that. Part of me used to think this was like a note that both of them escaped encino and awful rich abusive step/parents.
But it also makes me wonder if they got in abusive relationships with rich guys or something. Like drugs or sex or something. Because yes it's suspicious but the fact Shannon comes to Johnny and Johnny immediately gets why she's concerned makes me think it's a shared thing they have with some rich guy who took advantage of them.
Shannon: Since this is cobra kai or whatever you need to handle this.
Because she could've led with that, she could've said Silver, this guy from cobra kai came around and he makes me uncomfortable and Robby's not listening, it's cobra kai, you handle it. But she leads with the money and the cash and the jobs that weren't specified, which makes me think she thinks Silver's a pimp or something.
Kyler's party limo crew:
I can't tell if Moon is on a date with a girl or if she's just dancing with everyone because the camera goes to her, she goes woo, while dancing with a girl and then immediately spins out of the dance and away from her like it was a greeting rather than a dance and went off to do something else.
I mean arguably you're on a friend date. Prom doesn't have to include a date, you can just be there to have fun.
Logan Wang's after party got cancelled because of the middle school bullying/fight.
I will say the character growth of yasmine that happens in the background is a+. She went from bullying, learned her lessons from yasmine, Demetri started talking to her, the only person I think to wish her a happy birthday. Even though she still sat with Moon after she got back she didn't sit next to her any more and was still snippy but Demetri was no longer scared of her and gave her some more harsh truths. They became science partners, she saw all the work he put in, was impressed, her friends that she sort of sat with and didn't were also impressed so there were no societal reasons at least in her circle to still hate him, she saw how Kyler and Hawk treated him, her old BFF (Kyler) who abandoned her on her birthday and probably didn't talk to her much or again. Starts dating Demetri, whose a bit of a nerd but he's smart and nice to her (Demetri's grown up a bit) but he's also a bit of a hater when he puts his mind to it like her, but he's witty so I think she probably finds that compatible personality wise. And now this girl realized she didn't want to miss prom with him, flew back from Australia via coach, the girl whose parents bought her a new car after she crashed into Johnny's firebird, and generally pay for her grades. She hasn't had to work for anything and generally got whatever she wanted.
And here she is flying economy to make it in time, a nearly 14 hour flight, that she flew coach probably because this time her parents said no but she did it anyway. And I dunno, that's like super sweet of her and shows a lot of growth. Like her writing a flirty thing on Demetri's cast after Kyler bullied him I think was maybe the big turning point for her.
And it probably all sounds like rich girl nonsense but it's so telling on where she stands, especially on her relationship with Demetri. For her this is a grand GRAND romantic gesture and he 1000% gets it loud and clear:
Like I know it comes off at first glance as a Demetri, she was a bully why???? But Demetri said day 1, he'd like kill his friends just so she'd spit on him. Like he's been a goner for her since the beginning.
Sam being in pain not from high heels but from flying tornado kicks. She's trying to figure out how to use it in the tournament.
Ah the no karate talk. That rule makes it a little difficult since you both love karate.
This entrance is just A+
I wonder if Silver also bought Tory that dress.
Like the song choice lyrics too are on point. "I'm tired of grays so lets all pick a side." Their goal was to get in Miguel and Sam's head and they 10000% achieved that.
Vanessa and her second year of grad school for child psychology.
Amanda's comment I don't get. If we're going to get a pro we can do better than marisas tomei jr. Who played Mona Lisa Vito in My Cousin Vinny and was underestimated for her knowledge on cars until she showed up and kicked ass with her knowledge in court. (A movie Ralph was in) I feel like that's actually a huge compliment to Vanessa.
Louie calls her Ness/Nessa
Literally pulling a Marisa Tomei in my cousin vinny moment.
"Possibly related to screen dependency or full-blown IGD (Internet Gaming Disorder) either way she wants to look at the diagnostics and statistical manual.
Amanda and Daniel's stunned/shocked faces.
Anthony is upstairs second door on the left.
I know wanting to talk to teh parents instead of Anthony seems weird, but I think it's important in this case because Amanda and Daniel are both big mad about this, and stubborn hot heads.
Johnny broke into the dojo via the back using a crow bar:
That was so dumb Johnny. Like you're literally breaking and entering. He probably doesn't know Silver's got security cameras everywhere because he's thinking of Kreese and I truly don't think Daniel gave him much more than a glossed over this is my enemy who tricked me into cobra kai, it broke my relationship with Mr. Miyagi but Mr. Miyagi took me back and after the all-valley I never saw him or barnes again. Because if he glossed over 1/3rd of it and almost everything else...it kinda probably didn't stick that Johnny whose scared for his son has walked straight into a fire in the dumbest way possible. Especially when he's heard Daniel say he himself is worse then Kreese or Silver.
It's hilarious that Johnny hears someone else's phone ring and goes to answer it. Like come on Johnny. Really? That's like dumb horror movie stuff. Which again, I don't think he realized he's walked into a horror movie. Though I do appreciate that he drops the crowbar because I don't think he was going to threaten anyone with it, just get in with it.
Johnny looking around like how can this dude see me? How'd he know it was me? Only to finally catch the security cameras.
For Silver it's kinda like he's on a video call. He's also very easily finding a wound to stick a finger in.
Silver: As long as Robby is with me, I'm going to take care of him.
Seriously? Robby. How? He's like weirdly the opposite of Daniel. Daniel ran into enemies every time he turned around. Robby bumps into a tree and a new father figure that wants to take care of him pops up out of the woodwork. 🤣
And what works here is that Silver doesn't have really any big feelings about Johnny. His feelings are towards Kreese and Daniel. So Robby for the first time has a father figure/role model trying to teach him whose not guilting him over his father at all. Not, we've got to save your father from himself (Both Daniel and Kreese) or saying Johnny's a monster or this awful guy. Silver just is focused on Robby not Johnny through Robby. Which explains how Silver got his hooks in him as Shannon said. Because Daniel warning him against Silver means literally nothing to him because he's already pissed at Daniel and Daniel said teh same shit about Johnny, so it's like to Robby Daniel is just constantly crying wolf about everyone without anything to support it. And he fell for it once but he's not going to again. Until of course this crashes around him.
And again, I get as a person whose seen this and what happens next, as well as the films that Silver is a creep. But so far, he's done most of the same stuff Daniel did so I don't get why now anyone would be like you leave Robby alone for...checks list, clothing, feeding, teaching, giving him a shelter, and a car rental and clothes for prom when Daniel did these things or would've done them.
So all I can think is that Silver set off predator warning signals or something off in Shannon to make her go oh heck no. Or tripped some sort of warning trauma. Because she didn't do the same thing with Daniel who also, I remind, is a rich guy who wanted something.
Silver: Shannon is a special lady who deserves so much better.
Accurate, Daniel even tried helping there but Silver makes it sound creepy.
I also want to point out that Silver knew that Robby is an important piece on the chess board, even told Kreese straight up that stealing Johnny's son is an act of war even though Kreese didn't think about it. (Something Daniel did as well) so Silver's probably just been waiting for something to bring Johnny to them.
See Silver's winding Johnny up but he's not there so Johnny's just sort of bouncing there getting pissed and ready to fight but with no target.
"I'm going to kick both your asses back to the nursing home."
Poor Johnny, you weren't properly warned and get your ass kicked by Silver like twice.
I also love that Silver just sort of laughs at it. He's so used to like subterfuge and mind games that a direct threat is probably amusing.
Off to the OG cobra kai dojo. Corner of Magnolia and Lankershim. I believe on google maps like irl it truly still says Cobra Kai karate. 🤣 I looked that up a while back and was like woah, fiction place is marked on google maps?????
I get that Silver's alliance is to Kreese, and he'd do anything for Kreese and that's also trying in his own way to prove that Kreese does have a weakness and that it's Johnny and he shouldn't get so pissy about SIlver pointing it out, so he's found his own way to point it out as soon as this opportunity arises.
But I wonder if Kreese ever told SIlver (because I can't remember) that Johnny brought back Cobra Kai. That the whole thing is because Johnny took a bunch of nerds who were being bullied, gave them the tools to defend themselves and then one won the championship. Because you'd think Silver would respect that, but he has like 0 respect for Johnny because he doesn't care other than this is Kreese's weakness.
Also would like to point out the 'let's meet at a second location was the move Miguel pulled and Kenny pulled.' Miguel it was a trick, Kenny it was a trap. Which is more telling for how this is going to go because Kenny's studied under Silver.
The mind racing look Johnny has on his face when Silver drops the location of the old cobra kai dojo.
I also want to point out that Silver is taking advantage of this moment to send a message. Because he didn't have to do this. He could've easily called the police and had Johnny arrested for breaking and entering. He waited till he realized it was Johnny then laid his trap and then drinks his booze and calls Kreese to tell him to meet him there for a present.
Robby literally purposefully bumping into Miguel as he walks by.
Tory and Robby putting on a show because Miguel and Sam can't keep their eyes off of them. Only to be really great at dancing. Robby, who taught you to dance?
Want to point out that these kids are not taking their eyes off each other now. And that they, after everything, deserve some fun. And that Miguel and Sam being unable to take their eyes off of them, while maybe a thing for safety/danger is kinda also on them.
Vanessa just sitting there roasting Amanda and Daniel's parenting: So it's safe to say you didn't think of the ramifications of giving him his own electronics. Would you say that because of your demanding work schedules, and now the dojo, that Anthony may have learned key life lessons, from the internet rather than you?
Literally yes, Anthony said as much in the last episode himself.
Amanda and Daniel: uhhhhhh no???? Maybe he picked up some things but....
Vanessa: when he picked up these 'things' were you able to correct the behavior?
You do not. Daniel you cleaned up from Sam's pool party rather than do anything discipline like. You spoil Sam and ignore Anthony. So you don't have a clue what he's doing or is up to.
Amanda's hot head streak coming out: Have you taken care of anything bigger than a goldfish? WHAT ARE YOU WRITING?
Anthony you owe Vanessa the worlds best cousin gifts and awards. She is going to bat for you against your parents and taking them out at the knees. To Amanda and Daniel: You're acting out and I can prove it with a test.
She's literally making them face all the hard truths.
And then she starts writing and Amanda just snatches up the notebook that says 'this is the test." tells them they failed and got up and left and she says sorry and Daniel has to hold Amanda back because Amanda is pissed.
But I mean everything Vanessa is saying has been there since Sam was still in the womb. Daniel saying "This one's mine, you get the next one", Daniel constantly fighting with Anthony on the please do something other than be on your screens, how about you do chores with me? Rather than trying to meet Anthony where he's at or share an interest. I mean he shows more of a shared interest with Demetri over Game of Thrones rather than trying with Anthony. Anthony despite living in a big family is raising himself.
Daniel went to Japan and dropped nearly $700 on a gift for Sam and $12 at most on Anthony. When Sam is throwing a tantrum and not talking to him, he tries to win Sam over with her favorite foods, snapping and rolling his eyes when Anthony shows up excited because he also loves those foods because they're for "Sam" not him.
Anthony attends dinners and the only person he's shown talking to is Johnny.
He pretty much says he had to learn life lessons himself to Daniel's face, tell Daniel that he feels like an outsider in his own family and when he screws up when they're finally bonding, the whole family is over and Daniel and Amanda tell him to stay in his room rather than be part of this big family event.
Like he spends a lot of time on his devices, but as soon as he hears that Lucille is there he runs straight to her and into her arms with a "GRANDMA" and she's so delighted to see him. Louie puts an arm around him for a photo and the kid smiles. Like I dunno, Vanessa's spitting some truths here.
Silver vs Johnny, I'm not ready.
Oh I forgot Kreese is there first.
"They're putting it up for sale. I think it was a candle shop." Is kind of a funny line from Silver.
Silver is planning to expand and has his agent looking at other locations. And Kreese is just happy to be back in their dojo.
Stingray crashing prom and offering his sisters house for the party to Bert, and confused that Bert's not cobra kai anymore.
ah there we go, Shannon was a dancer. Tory is self taught.
Augh, this is so sad. "If I could win this one time, then I could look at that trophy and know I was best at something."- Tory
Tory and Robby are wearing white Calla lilies, according to better home and garden: "They're traditionally used in wedding bouquets, Easter arrangements, and funeral services, symbolizing purity, resurrection, and rebirth." pretty sure Silver picked those on purpose.
Tory asking if Sam and Miguel are still watching, Robby doesn't even glance and says "I don't care." and Tory says "Me either." pan to Sam staring and Miguel going "Sam." and Sam saying "What?", when it was the opposite Miguel was like startled and apologetic while when it was Sam she got defensive.
I mean this time it's not breaking and entering, Johnny was invited.
Silver hiding behind the construction equipment to kick Johnny in the face and get the drop on him.
Kreese: You got him to come back here?
Silver: You wanted to get back at him, now's your chance. This is me showing loyalty.
See Silver knows that Johnny is a weakness of Kreese's but I don't think he knows in what way. Kreese can beat Johnny up and try to kill him, but no one else can. Because he goes about as hot and cold as Daniel does on wanting Johnny to be on his team.
Which I think if Silver had done he'd have tried a completely different method. Instead of just jumping Johnny and beating him up, Silver would've tried manipulation using Robby.
Silver is working the chessboard, and knows Johnny will only win with Diaz.

TW: FatShaming, disordered eating thoughts mention
I can deal with people brining it up to my face though id prefer it if they didn’t. Or waited till I brought it up. However discussing it behind my back… hurtful.
If I’m honest, this wasn’t the first time. My weight has been a topic among family members since I can remember, and the whispering conversations and gossip always find their way back to me. It's hurtful. It's been detrimental.
These comments led me to unhealthy behaviors: starving myself, binge eating, taking diet and water pills, over-exerting, and purging. The comments continued regardless of my weight—thin, fat, lost, or gained—it was never right. Even at my healthiest, I heard, “That will look better on you with another 10 lbs down.”
I've heard people equate food with morality—some food is good, some is bad, and you are good or bad for eating it. I’ve been offered lap band and gastric surgery by non-medical professionals—my family—over lunch.
I’ve watched my mom starve herself and purge. I’ve seen my family yo-yo on weight, trying every fad diet out there. They blame my chronic illnesses on my weight, despite my explanations that they are genetic conditions, a symptom and not the cause.
For years, I thought something was wrong with me or that I was a failure, but it was my body fighting me tooth and nail. The psychological trauma I endured made eating disorders a sense of control in my life, and honestly, I gave up for a while. Nothing I did mattered to my body or my family.
Years of therapy helped me come to terms with my trauma, improve my self-image, and realize that fat doesn’t mean not beautiful. I learned that my family’s expectations were not aligned with my doctors, personal trainer, or my body’s needs.
Despite all that work, finding out that people were discussing my weight behind my back still cut deep. I sent a kind yet direct text to my family, letting them know I was aware and that it needed to stop. I explained my health, medications, how they impact my weight, and what I am doing about it.
Most didn’t respond, as expected because I told them they were not obligated to, but one did. The response was defensive: it’s out of concern and love, it's meant to be helpful, I shouldn’t stir the pot, I can’t be happy unless I lose weight, I won’t have a husband or kids unless I lose weight, and my genetic conditions might improve if I lost weight.
I stood my ground. I spoke calmly. Then I I yelled, I cried. I explained how hard it is to fight my own thoughts, my own body, the doctors who refuse to take me seriously, and my family.
I reminded myself I’m fortunate to have a team of doctors who assure me that my genetic conditions are not caused by my weight and that my weight is not our primary concern. It's sad that I'm fortunate to have only had a handful of doctors ignore the red flags in my chart because they said weight was my only issue. For some people, that's all they face.
The rest of the day, I felt awful. I felt like the monster they must all see. I’m 5'10" and wear on average a size 20. I know I’m over weight. I’d love to get to a size 16 or 14… I’d love to lose 50-100 lbs. I’d love to have a body that’s healthy and sustainable. I’ve lost weight, gained muscle mass, lost total body fat mass, and still, I feel like the monster on the hill. I am making progress to my goals…
I had to force myself to eat today because after all that, I desperately wanted to starve myself. I know it’s not worth it, it’s not healthy, and I won’t do it, but the desire to punish myself and not eat was strong. I paid attention to how much I ate versus my roommate and her sister and felt guilty for finishing my dinner.
I’ll go to sleep now and hope tomorrow is a better day. All I can say is I’m grateful for my years of therapy. Without them, this would be much darker with a longer impact.

So I got that Shadow Work journal that's all over tiktok, but I got it like 6 months ago and then lost it till last week. I'm good at doing that.
Anyways, i did a few of the first exercises in the book and it asked about things from my childhood that still upset or make me angry. And as I filled out a few pages worth, I realized that I'm mad over something I had no control of from when I was like 6 years old. If I do my math right at 2:30 in the morning, that's 16 years. No. Wait...18? Hold up. 24-6.....18 years. Yeah. Okay, I was close.
Eighteen freaking years of being pissed off. That's shit that you would hear from the grumpy old man dying from liver failure would say. Not a 24 year old. That's a lot of hate to hold onto. And I had several pages of shit I'm still upset about.
I would never have considered myself to be an angry person. Ever. But my examples of "angry people" has been pretty... extreme. My sperm donor (father) is a very angry person. He always has been. I remember we came home one time from getting groceries and he threw a frozen solid box of lasagna at the family dog because it pooped inside because we had been gone for hours and had no way to get outside.
That was one of his calmer episodes too.
My little brother (step that technically doesn't count) used to run around screaming and breaking things because he wouldn't get his way. He once got so mad over something when he got picked up from the bus stop that he burst a blood vessel in his nose and had a really bad bloody nose. I didn't think that was actually possible, I thought it only happened to horny teenage boys in anime.
My soon to be ex husband has the emotional regulation skills of a toddler. He used to boast about how he put another kid's head through a window because they made fun of his sister. Or when his mom's car (that we had been using while she was out of town) got repo-ed, I was on the non emergency line too figure out what happened to the car and he came in screaming and breaking things. The woman on the other line asked if I needed help. That was when I first realized I was experiencing domestic abuse but I thought it was just a moment of weakness and her could change and I loved him so much that I would stand by him through these trials. "But Daddy, I love him!" Right? Yeah I know.
Anyways, that kind of thing was always normal for me. That's what I used to think of when they said 'angry person'.
But that's me. I am the angry person.
Now granted, I never hit anyone, or broke someone's stuff or anything like that. But that's honestly just kind of the bare minimum for being able to regulate your emotions. And I don't want to be angry. I hate being angry. It's so much effort. So I made a plan to work on forgiving.
First, I wanted to learn more about what it actually means to forgive. My father always told me that "God wants us to forgive and forget." And that never made sense to me because of someone hurts you, why would you forget they did it and just let them do it again? Turns out he's actually just a manipulative asshole, who knew?
My ex, when I would call him on his bullshit used to ask me, "how long are you going to hold that against me?" (My favorite was when he asked if we could take turns sleeping on the couch after I found out he was cheating on me for the last 2 years and I laughed and told him 'fuck no'. He genuinely couldn't understand why I would disagree to that, so I told him, "because I wasn't the one who couldn't keep it in my pants". He left the house for an hour and came back pouting.) He also was a manipulative asshole but he was also really bad at it. But him always asking this made me question what the difference is between holding someone accountable and holding a grudge and learning from the pain they caused you.
So I've been doing some research. And there's a lot of differences of opinions on the topic of forgiveness. Mainly between the religious definitions and the basic definition I found in Webster's dictionary. And then there's the psychologic mumbo jumbo to understand too. I actually haven't come up with a solid answer on when it crosses the boundary between remembering and learning from the pain to holding a grudge.
And I imagine I will get probably the same confusing answers if I ask those around me. Everyone has different beliefs and experiences so no one will have the same opinion on it. I'm wondering if it is a subjective concept, and it will have to be something I can only judge in the moment.
Or maybe I'm just still feeling the effects of being manipulated over it. Who knows?
The next step for figuring out how to forgive and move on is to look at things I need to forgive, and figure out if I need to forgive them, or forgive myself. So, I made a shit list.
So far, I have a few people on it because I kept falling asleep while writing it (shh don't tell my boss). I plan on adding more once I have more of a decent brain process and more than 3 hours of sleep.
I had three columns:
Who?
Did what?
Why should I forgive?
And it was really kind of cathartic and eye opening to write down things like "I deserve to be happy." "I deserve to be safe." "I deserve to be seen and heard." " I deserve to be healthy. " My 'Ah-ha!' moment or my 'oh shit' moment I guess.
I now need to decide how I'm going to get myself closure. For example, I can talk to my mom and tell her that her making comments about how much I eat makes me feel like shit and that some things just don't need to be said. But I'm not going to reach out to my sperm donor and say "hey, remember when you called me a wh**e because I wouldn't let you hold my hand?....the fuck you mean no? I moved out that night????" I'd get no closure and I'd probably just end up more pissed off than I am now.
It would be a waste of my time and effort and quite frankly, it would be like talking to a really dumb brick wall. So what else could I do?
Kick him in the shin? That's called assault and I wouldn't make it in jail.
Make a voodoo doll of him and have someone else kick him in the shin? While that sounds hilarious, I don't know any voodoo and I ain't messing with the shadow man.
So maybe I'll just write out a long ass letter and light it on fire while screaming "suck my dick" into the abyss. Seems cathartic enough? I dunno, that one may also require years of therapy. But we will get there eventually. Hopefully.
Any suggestions?

Forbidden love story OIhina
Two teams at odds with each not really paying any attention to the people they are hurting they just want to keep their stupid rivalry while a couple feel like they are living the life of Romeo and Juliet watching each other getting more and more hurt till they finally snap
Shoyo is married to Oikawa they married for love and for their family businesses they 17 and 19 and they have a kid the thing is the teams don't know because they have a forbidden love both seijoh and Karasuno don't get a long the friendship that once was there died so no one is allowed to date from those teams like kags can't date Kunimi Sho’s phone rang it was his little sister his team was listening the whole conversation

Sho:Hey everyone I am quiting volleyball for personal reasons which I hope this helps explain
Sho grabbed one of semi’s guitar and started singing
youtube
Sho:🎵We were both young when I first saw you I close my eyes and the flashback starts I'm standin' there On a balcony in summer air🎵
Kita:sho what are you talking about?
Sho:🎵See the lights, see the party, the business suits and ball gowns See you make your way through the crowd And say, "Hello" Little did I know🎵
Atsu:who is sho talking about
Sho:🎵That you were Romeo, you were throwin' pebbles And my daddy said, "Stay away from Juliet" And I was cryin' on the staircase Beggin' you, "Please don't go, " and I said🎵
Oikawa’s thoughts 💭 I remember that it hurt me each time your dad tried to separate us
All the sudden Hoshi woke up and ran to his mom sho put him on his lap and he carried on
Kuroo:who's kid is that
Semi:sho’s kid my little Cousin Hoshi if you shut up he will tell you why he is quitting the team
Sho:🎵Romeo, take me somewhere we can be alone I'll be waiting, all there's left to do is run You'll be the prince and I'll be the princess It's a forbidden love story, baby, just say, "Yes"🎵
Kenma:forbidden love story?
Sho:🎵So I sneak out to our hideout to see you We keep quiet, 'cause we're dead if they knew So close your eyes Escape this town for a little while, oh oh🎵
Oikawa’s thoughts 💭 only way to see each other go to our hideout even though we were married we had to sneak around
Sho whisper to Hoshi and he ran to Oikawa
Sho:🎵'Cause you were Romeo, I was a scarlet letter And my daddy said, "Stay away from Juliet" But you were everything to me I was beggin' you, "Please don't go, " and I said🎵
Noya:so what I know is sho is dating some from Seijoh which is forbidden
Tendou:you know how stupid that is well if you lose him that is on you
Semi:can you stop calling sho him they are trans it's they
Sho: 🎵Romeo, take me somewhere we can be alone I'll be waiting, all there's left to do is run You'll be the prince and I'll be the princess It's a forbidden love story, baby, just say, "Yes"🎵
Iwa:its a rule we can't help it
Sho:🎵Romeo, save me, they're tryna tell me how to feel This love is difficult, but it's real Don't be afraid, we'll make it out of this mess It's a forbidden love story, baby, just say, "Yes" Oh, oh🎵
Kageyama:no it's ridiculous because I want to be with Kunimi and I don't want to hide our relationship like sho has to so seijoh Karasuno sort your shit out or I quit
Sho smiled and continued
Sho:🎵I got tired of waiting Wonderin' if you were ever comin' around My faith in you was fading When I met you on the outskirts of town, and I said Romeo, save me, I've been feeling so alone I keep waiting for you, but you never come Is this in my head? I don't know what to think He knelt to the ground and pulled out a ring And said,🎵
Tooru:🎵Marry me, Juliet You'll never have to be alone I love you and that's all I really know I talked to your dad, go pick out a white dress It's a forbidden love story, baby, just say, "Yes"🎵
Everyone: Oikawa
Sho gestured for their son to come back Hoshi ran and sat on oikawa’s lap
Sho:🎵Oh, oh, oh Oh, oh, oh, oh 'Cause we were both young when I first saw you🎵 With that said we have quit volleyball we are going to get all our school stuff sent online we are going to Argentina So we are leaving japan and opening a new parent company to our business in Argentina we are done with the team's BS Oh and noya me and Oikawa aren't dating we are married Well we have a plane to catch hoahi sweetie all packed adventure time
they end the live and grab everything and leave both their teams to think on everything and they regrets with tendou and some of their close friends having a look of we told you so Kageyama also quit because of their supid rivalry which just hit them even hard Karasuno went back to being wingless and the well oiled Machine that was Seijoh has now fallen apart they didn't realise how badly they needed the other 3 and how much they were valued until it was ro late now Kageyama is with A juinor League team and Sho and oikawa are living life in Argentina
Which I think is safe to say Both teams have learnt They shouldn't take advantage of people's good nature

Even before this shit went down my life still wasn't something to be proud of
I woke up to the sound of sirens from ambulances woke me up. I groaned from annoyance and looked at my alarm clock, 7:12...I was supposed to wake up 18 minutes later. whatever, I got up and stretched my ears then filled with the sound of two familiar voices arguing those voices were my parents. ignoring it I walked out of my room and headed downstairs towards the kitchen I was making sure to avoid my parents and their meaningless bickering. Once I was in the kitchen I noticed that the muffin I had bought yesterday was gone, someone must have eaten it...oh well I guess a muffin isn't the best choice of food for breakfast I decided to just make eggs instead.
While I was cooking I decided to tune in to what my parents were arguing about. "HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO DEAL WITH THIS KIDS!!!!" my mother yelled and immediately I knew where this was going, they do this a lot these stupid arguments that end up blowing up and then they threaten to get a divorce but they never do. "hun I'll be back at 8!" my step-dad yelled back my real dad is in jail...I don't really like talking about him though. While I was deep in thought I burnt my hand on the pan how? I actually don't know I guess I just wasn't paying attention. I ran the burn under cold water till it was no longer in pain and I finished making my food, I put it on a plate and sat down on the couch...yeah couch. My family did have a kitchen table at one point but every time we used it either my dad mom or sister would fight I just kinda sat there rule number one right? anyway, everyone stopped using it and it got dusty and had random papers scattered across it so my parents just got rid of it so my mom could make room for more plants. "Hello?!" my mom yelled she also did this a lot. "morning Mom," I said and she rolled her eyes. "honestly why dont you ever spend time with me anymore? all you do is stay up in that room and do nothing" Mai continued to complain but the reason I don't like being around her or really anyone in my family is because well we just dont get along.
I finished eating and placed my plate in the sink I then saw the cops as well as an ambulance at the house across the street, I watched as a body was being strapped to a bed. "Rayne!" I heard someone yell, it was my sister. "yeah?" I asked and she roughly pushed me out of the kitchen. "pay attention retard" she slurred I didn't say anything and just walked back up to my room to change. I like to dress normally and overall look as normal as I can, I do this because I don't like attention.
Rayne...that wasn't my real name it was my middle name for some reason my parents have only ever called me and my sister by our middle names rarely ever our firsts. They call us by our middle names so much that even my teacher and best friend call me that, that doesnt really matter though. I grabbed my backpack and went back downstairs my dad was getting ready to leave. "Rayne, give me a hand would ya?" he asked and pointed to his revolver, he loved this thing he always had it with. I walked over to the counter it rested on then hesitated holding a gun always made me feel nervous I don't know why it weirdly made me feel guilty, I guess it was because I know what they could do and I dont think I would ever be able to take somethings life. "Rayne?" my dad said knocking me out of my thoughts. "huh? oh sorry" I handed him the gun. "by the way, your gonna need to walk home today I'm gonna be out on a hunting trip," he said and I nodded, my sister then walked down the stairs and we both left and got into my mom's car on our way to school my sister and mom began to fight like usual, till we finally got to our school. I got out and imminently felt someone hug me.
"hi Mai," I said and she smile at me. "Hi Rayne!" she said and we started walking into schools. Mai was my best friend she was the only person who actually bothered to talk to me and care about me anyway the only reason we became friends was because were both above the grade we are supposed to be in basically we passed a grade plus we went to school together before. "oh, I've been meaning to talk to you about what's been going on recently" Mai said and I looked at her confused. "what do you mean?" I asked. "you're telling me you haven't noticed the amount of cop cars firetrucks and ambulances going around?" she asked. "oh yeah that, what about it?" I asked and she looked at me as if I was crazy. "are you being serious? don't you find it weird?" she asked and I shrugged. "well I mean this morning across the street there was a body being strapped down to an ambulance bed," I said and we both stopped at our lockers. "see dont you find that weird??? my mom was watching the news this morning and there was a police report," she said we then grabbed our stuff from our lockers. "continue," I said as we closed our lockers and walked to our math class. "it was about how this guy at a bar passed out and when he woke up he started attacking people but there was one thing he was doing the most and that was biting people" she continued. "biting people? that guy had to be crazy I mean no normal person would ever do that" We walked into our math class and sat down. "still it's kinda weird dont you think?" she said and I shrugged. "I mean yes but no he was probably just crazy and had a little too much to drink I wouldn't think much of it, it's an interesting story though" I replied. "soooo what are you doing this weekend," she asked and I thought for a moment. "uhh actually I dont know, But I do know that you asked me just so you had a reason to talk about what you're doing," I said and she laughed. "ya got me, I'm going on a trip to meet some distant family I'm gonna be staying on a farm!" she said excitedly. "really? sounds fun" I said then the teacher walked in.
"alright so, most of you failed," the teacher said talking about the math test we had yesterday I felt fear engulf my body. I hated getting tests back, my parents were incredibly strict and if I so much get a B my mom wouldn't be very happy. As I was thinking the teacher started passing the tests back, I sat there patiently waiting till she sat it on my desk and when she did I turned it over and I felt disappointment wash over me. 83% maybe my parents won't mind I mean... it's still an A. "what do you know we got the same score!" Mai said and held up her paper like always we were equal that's what I liked the most about our friendship we were the same well not really but you get it.
-
"Finally it's over," Mai said. I was about to say something when I was interrupted by the sound of crying, it was a girl in the grade above me and Mai. Mai being the nosy person she was moved closer to the group and just continued walking to my locker, it's not that I didn't care it's just if I were her I wouldn't want all that attention.
after a bit, Mai walked up to me. "okay so I may or may not have asked a few questions and whatnot but guess what? That girl's grandpa had randomly gotten really sick recently and today he died" she explained. "oh...is she okay?" I asked and Mai nodded. we then got our stuff and walked out of the school. "are you walking home today?" Mai asked. "yeah I'm probably gonna stop into town for a bit too I wanna go to the bakery" I replied. "really? but didn't you go yesterday?" she asked. "yeah I did but someone ate the muffin I bought" I explained and she nodded. "I'll see you Monday then, bye Rayne," she said the hugged me. "yeah, be safe on that trip" I replied and she nodded then got into her mom's car and I continued walking.
After one very boring walk I made it to town and the most noticeable thing was how busy the urgent care was normally I dont see many people there but now there were ambulances dropping off people and so on, sure all of this was weird but I decided to ignore it, it was probably gonna just blow over like nothing ever happened.
After a bit more walking I finally made it to the bakery and walked in then walked up to the counter. "two muffins please" I asked. "alright I'll go get that for you" the worker said and walked away to go get the muffins. "everyone out was closing" a woman said. "w-what?" another worker said. "out everyone out" the women said everyone ground in annoyance and left the women the turned the sign from open to closed. that was weird they always close at 7 it's only 5 oh well I guess.
I walked back home and then opened the front door with my key, no one else was home yet well... my sister was but I didn't want to bother her. I walked in then set my math test on the counter for my mom and went up to my room for a nap.
-
I woke up to my mom yelling, I walked down the stairs and she was looking at my test with a furious look on her face.
"Rayne, care to explain?" my mom asked holding up a test I got a 83% on. "My math test?" I answered and she laid a strong slap across my cheek. "Don't get smart with me!" she said as I felt stinging in my right cheek. "Now, try again. Care. To. Explain?" she asked. "An 83 is still an A" I tried to explain but once again I was met with another strong slap
Don't cry don't cry don't cry
"You grounded," she said then pointed to the stairs, something warm running down my temple. Opening the door to the bathroom only to be disappointed as my eyebrow had a cut and was now bleeding.
"Did you give yourself that cut? Just got some attention" my sister scuffed as I grabbed a washcloth and held it under warm water. "Hello?" she said but once again I gave no reply. "Your pathetic honesty" added then walked to her room. "I know" I mumbled as I put a bandage on the cut.
I was walking to my room when I heard a door open and close followed by something being set down. I made my way downstairs to see my dad who had just gotten back from a hunting trip the thing he sat down on was his rifle and revolver funny thing about that revolver whenever my dad went on a hunting trip he always brough it although it wasn't very special . "Can you BELIEVE this, she practically failed!" my mom yelled holding up my 'failed' test. "Hi Rayne," my father said and got up walking past my mom and over to me. "What happened to your face?" he said referring to my now bruised cheek and cut eyebrow. "I fell," I said already knowing better than to tell the truth. "How bout the test huh? You know I can't let that slide also your mom said you were bad-mouthing her and your sister, you know that's not okay" he said and I just nodded knowing nothing he said was true. "No leaving the house at all and if I even see you look at the tv or play any video games so help me," he said this time more stern.
I didnt hate my family but sometimes it's hard to keep myself from letting out all the stuff I have been forced to keep in.
"ok," I said. "What's the use? She's just gonna have her face shoved in a book" my sister said kicking me in the leg I looked up to see if my father had noticed but he was already gone. "You can't even defend yourself, honestly could you be any more useless" she added but I just once again stayed quiet.
Rule number one: always stay quite
I had 3 rules in place if I broke them, god knows how many marks would be on me if I didn't keep my mouth shut.
No.1: always stay quiet (what's the point of talking when no one is listening to you)
No.2: never cry. ("You so weak all you do is cry")
No.3: take it. ("You deserve this. You deserve to bleed")
I live with these 3 rules also on my mind if I break one...well...I don't know, I guess I never have, but I know I don't want to know what'll happen if I will.
"There were a lot of people out this season," my father said. "Really? I thought that not many people go out over there" my mom asked. "Yeah I did too, and the weirdest thing about it was that they weren't even wearing hunting gear they were dressed in normal clothes, and get this there weren't even any buck" he complained.
People dressed in normal clothes on a hunting trip? Something about that doesn't feel right, as I thought something outside caught my eye. I walked over to the window to see people, groups of them walking all sluggish almost tripping over their own feet, some of them...were covered with
Blood
Others had very severe injuries, like missing arm, you could s-
I felt something rise in my throat looking at one of the people, a little girl with a large intestine spilling out of her I covered my mouth with my hand and ran upstairs getting the attention of my family.
The image crossed my mind once again this time I wasn't able to keep in what I was trying to avoid I ran into the bathroom bumping into the door frame and released my hand from my mouth my stomach unable to take anymore. "Rayne? Are you alright?" my dad asked rubbing my back. "She's just doing it for attention, stop being so dramatic" my sister scoffed but the only thing I could focus on was the...I don't even know what it was. "Rayne what's wrong?" my father asked.
"Outside...look, outside," I said in between huffs and coughs, my father then got up
It was too long before I heard the front door open, then slam shut. I stood up and slowly walked down, to see my father's eyes wide his hands gripping his hair while my mom began to cry she then grabbed her phone
We all sat there is silence

"Holly shit, We have to go, there has to be somewhere safe" my dad added. "Jade! Get down here!" my dad yelled and my sister walked over tears streaming down her face as she shook in fear, and if I'm being honest as much as I hate to admit it we all were even me...
"Me and your mother are going to gather food and weapons, you two go pack clothes, not a lot just enough to travel as well as other things you might need," dad said and I nodded and ran upstairs to my room.
2 outfits should be fine including the one I'm wearing
Fit 1 (currently wearing): red hoodie with a white t-shirt under and blue jeans (dw the fits get better)
Fit 2. A yellow striped shit and white t-shirt with leggings (most of these are based on Clementine)
Fit 3. A purple T-shirt with blue jeans
I then went into the bathroom to get basic hygiene products (toothbrush, deodorant, etc) "Get boots too!!" my dad said and I went into my room and dug through my closet trying to find the one pair of boots I had.
Found them
They were an old pair of docs that used to be my sister's but they dont fit her anymore. I then looked at my desk to see a photo of my best friends and tears streamed down my cheeks,
The one person who cared, the one person I trusted please for the love be okay.
"RAYNE GET DOWN HERE!!!" my dad yelled and I took the photo and put it in my pocket.
When I walked downstairs I saw everyone with bags in their hands my dad set him down and I walked by Jade my father then kneeled and held up two pocket knives I put my hand out but hesitated while my sister just turned away and shook her head. "Please guys, I need to know that you'll be able to protect yourself if need be," he said and I nodded taking the black and silver knife and flicking it open, nothing too special. "Fine," my sister said then took it. "Alright I and your mama have guns but we won't be able to protect you all the time," he said I agreed but my sister wasn't having it. "No! You have to protect us YOU HAVE TO" she said and my father slapped her and she screamed and cried the....um....things?... Walkers ya
Started walking towards our house probably from hearing Jade cry
Sound attacks them
"Shit Jade stop screaming!" my dad said and covered her mouth only to revile the sound of walkers banging on the door. "Dammit Jade," my dad said. "We have to go through the back," he said and let go of my sister tears still streaming down her face we grabbed all of our stuff and my dad held tightly onto his rifle

their little miracle; chris evans
pairings: chris evans x reader
warnings: fluff and a bit of swearing
request on wattpad
_____
its been 8 months, since you heard that you would be giving a little miracle of yours and chris, soon. You still remember the day when both of you saw the baby for yhe first time, as it moved around your belly.
you remember how Chris held your hand when he saw your baby, and said, "it's ours" while crying, you remember the day when he found out it was a baby girl, and he was so happy, and when he told his family about it, they were crying too, because their son's dream came true. Since then he never left your side. Well, he haven't announced it on the internet too . He used to talk to your baby, late at nights, when she won't let you sleep, by endless kickings.
"Hey honey, don't do that to Mama." He says, slowly, and calmly as you laid down next to him, and his hands on your belly rubbing it gently.
"I won't leave your side, y/n." He whispered softly and kissed you. During those times, when Chris got intimate with you, for eg, he would kiss you more often, and lay next to you all the time, hold your hands all the time, you used to blush alot, as if it was a school crush, you could say it was the hormones.
"i love you so much." He says and you smile.
"I love you too and more." You reply and he wraps his arm around you, and kiss your head, and then you gasped as soon as your baby kicks you, because you were giving all the attention to her daddy and not her and even daddy didn't give her attention.
"alright baby, i love you too." He says as he keeps a hand on your belly and you laughed at how your daughter already had control over her Dad, even before her birth.
your smile grew wider, as all those thoughts came to your mind, and Chris noticed how you were smiling, and thinking about some things. He smiled looking at how adorable you looked.
"what're you smiling at, sweetheart." He asks as he comes closer, and kisses you gently.
"thinking of how our girl, already has control over her dad." He smiles as he heard you, it was a very different feeling for both of you.
"Well, trust me, the queen has more control than the princess." He says referring to you and you roll your eyes.
"oh stop!" You said as both of you chuckled, just then, to ruin the moment his phone rang. He groaned, and you laughed at him.
"Always messing up my moments, with my queen." He said, and you blushed at how he made you feel so good.
"Chris, i'm sorry to call you now." His manager spoke, as chris answered.
"No its fine, Joshua? what did you need?" He replied.
"Well, the agency has been calling up alot, for your photo shoot, and i tried to decline it, because you wanted to stay with your wife, but they aren't listening , and said you're their hope."
"alright fine! I'll do it."
"ah thank god!! I'll arrange the dates and timing and inform you."
"Alright!" Chris says as he ends the conversation and looks at you, smiling.
"What's wrong?" You asked
"I have to stay away from you for a couple of hours."
"and what would be the reason?" You asked as he sits next to you and pull you closer to him, and you put your head on his shoulder.
"There's this photo shoot they need me to do it and I honestly don't wanna stay away from you, even if its for a couple of hours, you're now close to your date, I can't just leave you here all alone, when you'd need me." He spoke.
"Chris, i'll be fine, you're worrying too much, babe. I can manage on my own, honey!"
"I know you can, i just don't want to be away from you and our daughter." You smiled as he said that, how your daughter's and his bond was so strong.
"babe!!" You squeeled and hugged him and he kissed you multiple times. Just then the phone rings and he groans again.
"Its the agency, i'll have to take it, i'm so sorry!!"
"Its fine, honey." You said and he answered the call, going into the living room to talk while you watched some TV
"Thank you so much, Chris for joining us!" He said and chris smiled.
"The pleasure is all mine!"
"Is there any arrangements we can do for you?" Just as those words left his mouth, he smiles thinking of an idea.
"Yes! Could i get my wife with me? I want her to be next to me."
"Ofcourse sir! It's our pleasure to have her with us, and we can have some couple photoshoot too!"
"Thank you! See you, soon!" He says and walks to you.
Chris comes back to you and tells you that he's made arrangements for you to come with me, you denied at first but he made you to agree to it, typical christopher and then the day comes when you had to go with him. You were nervous about something which he had completely forgot about. Announcing about your little miracle.
As soon as both of you entered, the photographers welcomed you both so warmly, and as expected they were shocked by the news, and they were happy for both of you.
As soon as chris finished his part of the work, you two had to pose together, it was all cute with him, and then the photographer requested that you should have a photo or two of your own with your bump and Chris happily agreed to it.
Just after you completed your work, you told Chris, that now seems to be the right time to tell everyone about it. No , only family and some of his close friends knew about this, so he was just concerned about how his fans and co workers would annouce, but you knew things would fall back into a perfect position.
"I posted it." He said and breathed.
"i did too!" You said and smiled.
Just a second later, yours and his phone were filled with notifications, hundreds to thousands, and all were really happy about it, because all of them understood that this was Chris's dream and you could only turn into his reality.
a week or two has passed, Chris had to go through a lot of press , and interviews where the main interest was your pregnancy. As you waited for him to get over with the last interview for the month, and after that he promised he'd take a break, he comes to you.
"How was it?" You asked as he kissed you and sat next to you.
"It was good, i was happy to tell them, how you made me happy, and they obviously wanted you, but i said you were resting."
"Thank you —*gasps* oh shit!" You said and his eyes came out if his eye sockets.
"Baby what happened?!"
"She's coming omg!! My water broke!!!" You said and he panicked, he was roaming around the house finding the baby bag, and you felt contractions, which were going on for a day which you tried to ignore.
"Chris where the fuck are you?!" You yelled, as the contractions hit you again.
"I found it!! Let's go." He said as he helped you get up and rush you to the hospital, through out the ride he didn't leave your hand, and just made you breathe, but it was true, when you're about to give birth, your temper loses, and poor Chris had to listen.
Now you were in the waiting room, with him and yours and his family started to visit you both.
"Hey!" Your mom said and rushed to hug you as you breathed.
"Hey Mom! I'm good? Are you?" You asked and she laughed at you.
"I know, the temper, i gave birth to three kids!" She said and hugged Chris, and he chuckled and stopped as soon as you gave him a death glare.
"come on! my little girl needs a break, how are you feeling honey?" Your dad says and you roll your eyes.
"P A I N!" You said and then your siblings laugh at you.
"Y/n , for real, you need to calm down, also guess what i already have done half of the preparations for my niece!!" your brother says while your sister argues with him that it was she who did it, and that made you laugh, and Chris smile looking at you.
His mother stayed longer with you but then you told her to go, because she looked tired, and she agreed, time passed and you were ready to deliver the baby, Chris started to breathe heavily, he was nervous, more than you.
"Its gonna be fine, babe!" You said and he nods
"I'll be next to you the whole time." He says and you nod.
Slowly the doctors start to give you instructions to how to push till they count till 10 and you agree to it, clearly understanding their instructions.
"Push!" They said and you pushed while your groaned and your grip on chris's hand tightened.
"You're doing amazing honey!" He encouraged and honestly, that made you stay strong till the end.
Just few more pushes later, the cries of your baby girl were heard and you sighed as both of you burts into tears. They laid your little miracle on top of you as Chris adored both of you, he starts to wipe his tears, and the doctor takes your little girl away.
"No where are you taking her!" Chris says and you chuckled at him.
"they're cleaning her, she'll be back soon, with us." You said and he looked at you with a smile.
"You did so good today!" he says and you smiled at him.
"It wasn't possible without you." You said and he shook his head.
"You're the most strongest women i've ever seen, and how beautiful you look today! Your glowing baby!" He says and you laugh as he pressed his lips onto yours in a sweet and filled with love kiss.
"I love you so much." He says
"I love you more!" You reply and they bring the baby back to you, and Chris holds her, tears falling from his eyes, as he met his daughter.
"She's so beautiful just like her Mama!" He says and you feel your tears falling.
"Daddy loves you and your Mama so much! He'll do everything to protect both of you!" He says as he holds her in his arms and kisses her multiple times on her head.
"Okay now, Mama also needs attention!" You said and he laughed and kissed you again, and just then you met your family, already waiting and excited to greet their grand child, neice and goddaughter.
Yours and Chris's mother couldn't hold back tears and were crying with joy, while Scott hugged you and cried and you were crying because he was crying , which made everyone laugh and later Scott Shanna, Carly and your siblings already started giving suggestions for the baby names for your little miracle.
It was the best day of your life, you for the first time witnessed how one life can bring so much happiness to so many people, and you were only concerned about your husband, who was on cloud 9 because of his happiness and you couldn't stop smiling because of him. You won't be able to forget this day ever!
------
done with your request!!hope you liked it❤️

Cotl Auuuuu
It’s modern time babeyyyy
* This au does take place in modern day but it technically “starts” in the late 90s bc it’s a Narinder and Lamb were childhood best friends au :))
* I honestly have the most ideas for when they’re in high school but I’ll get to that in a bit (also should say this was inspired by that one prom post from redcrowncafe where Lamb talks about their prom date who was an asshole and wishes they knew Narinder then so they could’ve gone with each other. Saw that and thought “okay but what if they did” and that spiraled out of control)
* I’ve yet to say that my personal headcanon for Lamb’s family is that they had two moms, and three younger siblings (a sister about 12 years younger, and 18 years younger twins; one male one amab gender-fluid). The twins don’t show up till Lamb is, well, 18 tho so they won’t come up much yet
* The Bishops (Bishop is just their last name here) are all foster siblings who have shitty foster parents. Shamura stays even a bit into their early 20s because of this since they don’t want to leave their younger siblings alone with those two. The foster parents’ were abusive in multiple ways, and they also kept any money the Bishop’s respective parents might’ve left for their offspring to themselves (spoiler: Shamura’s in particular were LOADED and so when the Bishops are finally away from these two they’re pretty much set for life). It’s after a particularly scary night where a two year old Leshy and a six year old Heket are threatened while Shamura and the parents are arguing that something in Shamura snaps and they begin to plan to murder their foster parents. Yay!
* I don’t have the details but they in fact /do/ kill them. Thing is they’re super smart about it and hardly any evidence can be traced back to them. It is a small town though so there aren’t too many suspects and overall the one who would have the motive and probable method would be Shamura (unless they wanna try and pin it of 13 year old Kallamar or 8 year old Narinder). Thing is, their foster parents? No one liked them. So no one’s gonna point fingers. The police try and press people to give a suspect but no one does. So the case goes cold. But, even though no one liked the two, murder is still frowned upon by most so the siblings move away.
* But BEFORE all that let me explain a bit about Nari and Lamb’s friendship: they met in kindergarten (idk why they’re in the same grade when I hc Lamb to be a year older but shhh) and while Narinder tried to act “cool” and “aloof” Lamb was having none of it and dragged him along on little kid adventures like playing in the mud and pretending to be power rangers. Also almost from the get go Nari had a little crush on Lamb lol. Since Nari and his sibs move away when he’s 8, these two knew each other for 3 years. Idk what all happens in that time. Like I said most of what I’ve thought up for this au (mainly about Narilamb) happens in their high school years. It is thanks to their play dates at each others houses that Lamb figures out that being nonbinary is a thing from Shamura and is like “Wait… Me too???”
* After the move, Nari and Lamb stay connected through letters and phone calls. They also send pictures of all kinds of things, mainly of themselves so the other “won’t forget what I look like!” Neither make many lasting friends, at least, not ones around the same age as them (Lamb befriends Ratau and his buddies. Narinder befriends kind library assistant Forneus and her two twin sons).
* Lamb is loud and proud about who they are, which unfortunately makes them targeted for bullying, though it’s not just for their gender, it’s also because of their - Idk a better word than quirky Sorry - personality and the rumors about their long distance best friend; there’s multiple rumors, like that he doesn’t exist (this comes from those who don’t know much about the whole Bishop family scandal) or that he’s a murderer, just like his older sibling (this comes from those that /do/ know, ofc)
* Btw over the course of these years they’ve been apart Nari’s crush has only grown and Lamb has also gained a crush on Nari themself
* OKAY OKAY OKAY OKAY TIME FOR THE BIT I HAVE THE MOST OF AN IDEA FOR GET READY (it’s super cheesy and corny and honestly feels like a Disney channel original movie but this fandom could use a little more of that imo so let me live)
* So, I know some schools would let Juniors have their own prom. Let’s say Lamb’s school does that. They had been asked by some guy to be his prom date and figured “why not?” and accepted. Thing is the guy asked if they could buy his ticket, and being the nice person (yet to decide if this is also a human au or if they’re still all animals) they are they do so. The guy then just takes the ticket and tells them to get lost. Lamb didn’t like the guy but it still hurt to have their kindness taken advantage of. They tell Narinder all about it and admit they probably won’t even go to the prom, even though they already bought a ticket and outfit. Nari, who Lamb can’t see bc it’s just a phone call, is absolutely SEETHING.
* Now Narinder has a mission: Get a tux, flowers, and other gifts. Convince Shamura to let him go in his truck (yeah he drives a truck in this au, idk it’s just the car I imagined when I thought it up lol) and be away from home for a few of days (it would take about a day to drive there, then he’d want to stay for at least one or two, then another to drive back). Shamura is reluctant (that town holds a lot of bad memories and him being so far away when he’s only 16 is scary), but seeing the determination in his eyes makes them relent.
* He calls Lamb’s moms and lets them know his plan, but wants it to be a surprise. They both agree to convince them to go to prom even if they will be going alone, without letting it slip that they will have a prom date after all.
* Prom night comes around, and Lamb, who is dressed in a tux-dress combo, is confused as to why their moms, who were so insistent that they go, aren’t ready to take them? (Projecting my reluctance to learn to drive onto them here, so that’s why they can’t drive themself). Then the doorbell rings. They answer and see Narinder (who is now like a foot taller wow couldn’t tell that in the photos he sent) in a tuxedo holding a bouquet and corsage. He’s got a nervous smile on his face as he says “I know it’s a little last minute, but will you allow me to accompany you to prom?”
* Almost a full minute passes in silence, making Nari sweat and begin to regret doing all of this. Then he gets jumped by Lamb into a hug that topples them both to the ground as they scream “YES!!!”. Thankfully they aren’t hurt and their formal wear is alright, though they wouldn’t notice otherwise, their focuses only on each other’s laughter and presence.
* When he opens the passenger door for them there’s a basket of treats, jewelry and a black cat plushie. “Ohh, Narinderrrr! You’re making me feel like I’m royalty!” “You are, to me.” *pause as they look at each other in flustered silence* “A-ANYWAYS WERE SHOULD GET GOING RIGHT?” “OH YEAH YOURE RIGHT. Uh, help me up?” He helps them climb into their seat, close the door, and silently screams about how dumb that was (while Lamb is inside internally screams about how sweet that was and oh no they think they’re falling for him)
* They get there (Yeah I realized Nari doesn’t have a ticket but let’s say somehow there was enough for him to buy one at the entrance) and they’re having a good time (only barely noticing the looks they’re getting and the whispers of “Isn’t that one of the Bishop siblings? Figures Lamb would have to settle for a murderer to be their date.”), dancing, eating and drinking the possibly spiked punch. I’m sorry to say some hurt is about to happen
* They have a run in with the guy who tricked Lamb and Nari almost breaks the guys nose before Lamb pulls him away saying it’s not worth it. He’s about to disagree and say something embarrassing again like “maybe /he’s/ not worth it but /you/ are and he hurt you so he deserves to be punched” when a girl “accidentally” spills her whole cup of punch onto Lamb’s outfit. Everyone around them laughs and Lamb, barely blinking back tears, runs out of the building. Narinder growls at them all and runs after Lamb.
* He finds them curled up by a tree outside, and sits down next to them. He tries to comfort them but they sob out “Just take me back home.” He agrees to do so, but tells them to go wash up a bit in the bathroom while he gets something. As they’re washing up he knocks on the door and asks to come in. They let him and see he’s holding a box. He tells them he planned on giving it to them later after Prom for something else he had planned but figured they’d just go now since Lamb didn’t want to stay anymore. He hands it to them and says he’ll be waiting outside.
* Surprise! It’s another outfit :)) It’s a bit more cozy than what they were wearing before, but still fit for “royalty”. And a black crown with a big red jewel inlaid in the middle-front
* They get dressed and marvel in the mirror before going back out. Narinder’s heart skips a beat when he sees them.
* Idk what to put in between so let’s skip ahead to when they’ve arrived at a spot out in the open wilderness where it’s easier to star gaze. He sets up the trunk bed to be comfy and reveals he had a cooler and basket of food for them to have a night picnic under the stars.
* After they’ve eaten some, one thing leads to another, and then Lamb pulls Narinder into a kiss. They both confess and spend the rest of their time cuddling (until Lamb gets a phone call from their very nervous moms because of how late it’s getting and they’re not home yet lol)
* I have more ideas but to sum them up for now: The rest of this AU is just Narilamb long distance relationship angst & fluff. Eventually the Bishops move back to the small town and then it’s not long distance narilamb (and eventual leshycat and whatever else).
* I will say this: Another murder will happen, this time it’s Lamb who commits it. That’s all I’m giving y’all ;))c
#cult of the lamb#cotl AU#cotl modern au#my posts#my headcanons#does it count as headcanons if it’s for an Au???#narilamb#true devotion#tw mention of abuse#tw mention of murder#idk what else to tag#so uh. that’s it I guess lol#maybe I’ll draw something for this maybe I won’t#I do need to clarify side characters’ ages and also develop their place in the story more#and then actually. you know#get to the actual MODERN part of this#I mean it’s more modern than the game’s time but it’s still like. 2011 in what I talked about at the end there#I’m operating off of imaging The Lamb is about 6 years older than me okay that’s how I’m doing this lol#*imagining#keep on doing that typo lately#is it a typo if I just forget how the word is spelled???

They Just Don't Know You
Soft Yandere! Seo Moon-Jo x F! Reader
Disclaimer: This is just a work of fiction. If this piece of fan fiction is offensive to any celebrity, fandom or culture please let me know so I can take it down. Also note that this is my version of a character or celeb, which will vary from person to person.
Author's Note: A 2nd longer fic for our lovely cannibalistic psychopath. I hate that I'm attracted to him. Someone please be my therapist. Or psychiatrist. Honestly doesn't matter. My brain is fucked anyway.
Copyright: Please note that this is my work and if you want to publish this on any other platform, take my permission before doing so. Taking an author's work and posting it somewhere else without any intimation is just disrespectful. I readily welcome suggestions and criticisms. That being said, Happy reading! 🤍
Warnings: 16+ and written for female reader, but all can read. (nothing specified with respect to appearance, etc of reader). Except that I've mentioned reader is short, cuz LDW is tall 🥰. There is a brief mention of sex, but no actual smut. Reader kinda highkey hates on her parents and younger sister. Read it to know. Age gap between reader and Moon-Jo. Slight obsessive thoughts. Manipulative words. I tried to put plot twist in the end, probably you won't notice it 💀. Please please tell me if I need to add more warnings. Do not read if you start to feel uncomfortable. I apologize in advance 🥺
❗❗PLEASE READ WARNINGS ❗❗
Pre-Requisite / Summary: Just a fic based on the song They Just Don't Know You by Little Mix. After watching Strangers from hell I related this song to him for some reason. Reader and Moon-Jo are in an established relationship. And reader's loved ones don't approve.
2.3k ish words My longest fic till date 🥳
" You know that he's too old for you. You can settle for younger, much younger guys for your age sweetheart. If you can't find anyone eligible enough, we will find one for you. And you don't even know if he has intentions of marrying you. What if all he wants is just a fling or some time pass relationship. Hmm? What are you going to do then? "
Sipping her tea silently, Y/N sat next to her dad on the porch swing, listening to all the criticisms he had about Moon-Jo. All his words did was boil her blood. But what could she do when they don't walk in her shoes? They don't know how safe and content she feels when he kisses her like she's the only girl for him in the entire universe. And no point in explaining that to her father anyway. She's tried. And failed. Multiple times.
"Are you done with your tea?" She asks her dad, in desperate attempt to try and get away from him and his words because she knows, and even he knows that it's going to end up in a fight if they continue to speak on the same topic.
Humming yes, he hands her his tea cup which she takes to the kitchen so she can help her mom with dinner. Placing them in the sink upon entering the kitchen, Y/N drags her palms down her face in frustration.
" I could hear what he said you know. Your dad. He's not wrong. Seo Moon-Jo seems like he'll break your heart in three. And we're only looking out for you Y/N. You don't have to go through heartbreak when you can very well avoid it." Her mom finished slowly.
" Why. Why is it so difficult for you to accept the fact that I'm actually in a happy relationship for once in my life. So what if he's much older than I am? He's a dentist. A doctor. A very good profession and he's known and well respected in his neighbourhood too. " Y/N said loud enough for her dad also to hear.
Huffing in annoyance she left the kitchen to go upstairs to her room. Or rather the room she shares with her sister. Of course the door is wide open. The younger rascal is always here for the drama.
Ever since Y/N came out to her family about her relationship with Moon-Jo, her sister has become the favourite child, for obvious reasons. And now eavesdropping with the door wide open? That's a new low. But what else can Y/N expect from such a low life who is literally thriving off her own sister's pain and suffering.
When entering the room, Y/N realizes how big a mistake it was to visit her family. And she did not need such snark from a younger, less experienced child.
"Are you that blinded by " Love " that you don't even see how weird his hair is? A man who isn't an idol or actor doesn't need such long hair. He's clearly a fuckboy. Or man whore. Whichever is right. " She said with disgust.
'She's just jealous. She's just a jealous bitch. They all are.' Y/N thinks to herself.
" At least one of us gets laid regularly. And just so you know, it's absolutely heavenly when he makes me cum over and over on his fingers and his dick-" Y/N said as her tone slowly got lower and darker and her emotion angrier.
Screaming and covering her ears, the younger girl ran downstairs to her mother, no doubt to tattle on her older sister. Rolling her eyes, Y/N started packing her things, all of them, in a bag she took down from the top shelf of the wardrobe.
It's really difficult to leave one's family, but it is clearly getting more and more tiresome to love them nowadays. If it's so wrong to date him, why does Y/N herself not see it? She's a logical and smart young lady. Does her family hate that man so much that they don't even want her to be happy? No matter who she's with. And is it so bad to date a man who's older? Richer? And cares more about her than all of her family members combined?
Wiping the fallen tear stains from her cheek, she just thinks to herself ' They just don't know him. They just don't know him like I do. '
Sending a text to her lover, saying that she misses him and that she's coming back home sooner than planned, Y/N carries her bag through the front door, her parents and sister ignoring her as she leaves and walks out that door one final time.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Once reaching their shared apartment, Y/N collapsed into her lover's arms the moment he opens the door, crying her eyes out. Seeing his lover in turmoil, shedding a tear or two of his own, Moon-Jo carries her to the living room couch to cradle her like a child who needs attention.
" They- They said -"
" Shh my darling. I know. " Moon-Jo said, shushing his girlfriend and giving her a shoulder to cry on. Once she's calmed a little, her sobs turning to sniffs, she lifts her head to meet his gaze.
Seeing her sad, tear stained eyes always upset him. More than anything in the world. Running his long slender fingers across her cheeks and jaw, he removes her hair from her ponytail with his free hand and rests it on her thigh.
" Tell me. Please tell me that you won't break my heart like them. That you won't try to tear my world apart like them. " Y/N looked desperately at him, wanting so badly to know that he's not just using her.
Those words, that slipped out her mouth, shocked Moon-Jo, to say the least. What did he do wrong? What did her family fill her head with?
Tilting his head to a little, he looks into her red eyes, trying to read her mind for a moment, all the while she just looked at him with the same desperate expression.
"Please tell me that you will be there when I need you the most. " Y/N whispered so softly, she herself barely heard it. But the end of the sentence, she started crying all over again.
Taking her head to his neck, he stroked her hair and her sides, trying to calm her down.
" Darling. I promise with my everything, that I will never leave you, I will never ever let you go. That I will do anything, anything necessary to prove my love to you. "
"No, oh dear no. That's not, you don't have- have to do anything at all to make me believe you love me. I'm sorry I asked such a stupid question. " She sobbed out.
Shushing her softly again, he rocks their bodies back and forth, till she's calmed and fallen asleep there, in his arms. Knowing that his arms are her only safe place for her from now on, he takes her delicate figure to the bedroom.
Placing her on her side of the bed, he lays down on his. Staring at her stunning face, he feather touches her face with his fingertips, memorizing every curve, every little detail on her, like a sculptor admiring his work and giving it the finishing touches.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
" So, I did a little digging on your sugar daddy. "
" Why?! And he's not my sugar daddy. " Y/N said in disbelief. No. Not her dear best friend too.
" I know you said not to and I'm sorry. But I am worried about you. He made you leave your family Y/N. " They stated with worry and sympathy.
" No. He didn't make me leave them. I left them by choice. They don't see him like I do. And clearly, they hate that I'm happy with him. " Y/N finished as they sat down at the lunch table.
" Y/N..... "
" What? Even you don't want me to be happy? " She questioned her friend in disbelief. Laughing sarcastically Y/N shook her head.
" I've heard rumours! Okay? He was in the orphanage that had that severe fire explosion. And most of the culprits from that incident are MIA. What if he's one of the people who caused it?! " They said in a whisper, worried that the neighbouring people can hear their conversation.
" Do you really think that? All of that is just a rumour. And he's told me about it. He's told me everything. Unlike my parents who so desperately tried to tie me down to an arranged marriage. "
" He's not good for you. I know you deserve better. Okay he may make happy and all but what if he leaves? What if he just uses you and drops you like you were nothing? We're just trying to make sure you don't get hurt Y/N. Physically and emotionally. " They finished.
" This, all what you said, is cheap talk. But it'll eventually wear down because when we get married and have kids and all that in the future, you're all going to look like fools. And I will proudly say ' I told you so '. "
" If that's the case then I am the happiest person for you. Hopefully I won't have to be the one to say ' I told you so'. "
" Wow. I, just- hah. Wow. Just wow. " She paused.
" You know, I really hoped you would be more supportive or at least tolerant enough to have patience and support me with my decision for my love. " Y/N said loud enough for eavesdroppers to hear audibly.
Of all the people she would have to drop, never even in her nightmares had she fathomed that her best friend would be one.
Getting up from the table, she picks up her bag and leaves without another word, and goes to the only place that has love for her and that accepts her.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Reaching home, Y/N notices the place empty. Maybe he's at the clinic?
Shrugging off her bag and jacket she sits on the couch for a moment, before her restlessness takes over and she begins pacing in the living room.
Why are people being like this? Do they hate her so much? They barely know him. Why are they treating and accusing him to be such a criminal! He's not. He takes care of Y/N so much. He loves her so much. He provides for her. He's affectionate with her, more than he's told he thought capable. He's become her ride or die. And she, his.
They don't know him like I do. They will never love me like he does.
They don't know about the love they have. The just see what they want to see. Bloody society dictating whom to love and whom to not. Is it so hard to see the love they have for each other? Can't they just let it be. They don't know the turmoil she's gone through recently; they don't know how well he's taken care of her, kept her happy and same enough to not let her intrusive thoughts get the best of her.
Her thoughts interrupted by the door clicking open. Smiling, Moon-Jo enters with a box, surely containing sweets from her favourite bakery. How can you not love someone so considerate, who does things for you without even having to ask.
Seeing the sad look upon his lover's face, Moon-Jo's smile fades into a frown.
" What's wrong my dear? "
Smiling sadly Y/N just shakes her head, conveying that she doesn't want to talk about it.
Placing the box of sweets on the coffee table, the two hug each other, feeling of comfort taking over them both. She can just stay here, forever, in his arms till the world ends.
" Babe. What's wrong? You can tell me anything. Anything at all. I'll take care of the problem. " Delicately Moon-Jo cradles Y/N's head in his palms, making her face up to him, their height difference evident.
Sighing, she moves to sit on the couch, motioning him to do the same. " It's just people. And what they say. My family was one thing, but my best friend, the person I chose as my family " Pausing Y/N breathers the tears back in, " They were doubtful of you today. How can I live knowing that no one will approve of us? " Y/N questioned looking at him.
" Does their opinion really matter that much? So much so that you are skeptical of my affection to you? " Coldly, he moved back from his seat on the couch.
" No! No. Gosh that is not what I mean. Not at all. I love you and I know that you love me. So much. So much so I would die for you. But there are other people whom I care about. Who's opinions matter to me. And I don't want to let them go. As happy as I am with you, I need them too. They give me joy in a different way, that is important. "
" Do I not make you happy? Are you not content with the love I give you? Is it not enough? " He asks carefully.
" That's not what I meant! You love me more than anyone I've known. "
"Then what's the problem? You don't need those people who don't love you. You have me. You will have me forever and ever. I will never leave you. And you will never leave me either. We'll be with each other till the end of the world darling. "
Nodding with a small smile you looked down at your feet.
Unhappy with your action, Moon-Jo pulls your face up by your chin to look at him with such force, it scared you a little, making your heart skip a beat in fear.
" Do you not love me, babe? " He asked tilting his head to a side, his expression mildly offended.
" I do! I love you. So much. " You finished with a soft tone, cupping his face with your hands.
Grinning like a Cheshire Cat, Moon-Jo leaned down to capture your lips with his. Reacting immediately, you kissed him with as much energy and sincerity you could muster, as you head filled with thoughts of doubt.
Had your parents been right? Had for friend been right? Had they all been right all along and you too blind to see?
No. It can't be. He loves you. He's said that so many times. And you love him.
You love him.
You.
Love.
Him.
...
Do you love him, or have you been illusioned into loving him?

Dear Y/n
masterlist
pairing - carl gallagher x fem!reader
type - fluff
note / request - “OMFG FINALLY SOMEONE WRITES FOR RECENT CARL GALLAGHER. Can we get one where the reader is Kev and V’s daughter so they grew up together. And maybe Carl is her secret admirer” so i made debbie and you seniors and carl a junior since he is technically a year younger than debbie. so let’s pretend that debbie stayed in school and carl never went to military school lol, just for the sake of this imagine. enjoy!
summary - you find a note in your locker from a secret admirer and try to figure it out who is your secret admirer
warnings - language
————
*gif isn't mine*
“Hey, girl!” Debbie exclaimed. You looked up from your phone, smiling as you spotted your friend.
“Hey,” you smiled while walking up to her. Your attention when to Franny, who was sitting in her stroller. You crouched down and smiled at the baby.
“Hi, baby. How are you? Do you like going to school with Mommy? You know, some day you’ll be going to school. I’ll be an adult and with kids, too!” You babbled to the baby. Franny squealed and held her hands up to you. You giggled, bopping her nose before going up back to talk to Debbie.
“You’re really good with her,” Debbie complimented.
“Thanks, kids kinda like me,” you giggled.
Debbie rolled her eyes, “Yeah, we know. Anyways, can we hang at your house?”
You two started walking to your guys’s lockers. “Sure. I have to babysit Jems and Ames, though. Mom and Dad don’t get off work until like, midnight.”
Debbie nodded. “Franny can play with them.”
“Sounds good,” you nodded. You unlocked your locker, a piece of paper falling out.
“What’s that?” Debbie asked.
“I don't know,” you muttered, furrowing your brows. You picked up the paper, unfolding it. Your eyes widened as you saw its contents. It read:
Dear Y/n,
I thought your outfit looked really good. Not that your outfits don’t always look good, but today’s my favorite. I really like your jeans and your red shirt. Red really looks good with your eyes.
From,
Secret Admirer
Debbie read the note with you, laughing as she got to the end. “You have a secret admirer!”
You smiled, “Yeah. This is cute. I wonder who it’s from.”
“Maybe it’s from Dean Kepner,” Debbie said, nudging your shoulder teasingly.
You rolled your eyes, “That is the funniest shit I have ever heard.”
“Well, what if it is! I noticed him staring at your shirt today,” Debbie said.
You scoffed, “Yeah, more like staring at my tits. This note said nothing about my tits. It’s probably not him. Plus, I’m pretty sure Dean can’t make compound sentences. He’s worse at speaking than Ames and Jems, and they’re 3 years old.
Debbie chuckled, “True. Well, we should try to figure it out.”
“Eh. It's probably some jackass who wants to get in my head, and then embarrass me because I thought someone liked me,” you said.
“Be more optimistic!” Debbie exclaimed.
“Hm, I will if I get a second note. Let’s go, Jems and Ames are expecting me to pick them up from daycare,” you said. You grabbed a few textbooks and shut your locker. “Is Carl coming home with us?” You asked.
“I think so,” Debbie said. “Alright. Where is he?” You asked.
“Probably making out with some slut in the bathrooms,” Debbie said.
“Probably,” you snorted.
You and Debbie walked to the nearest bathroom, peeking behind the corner to see if you could hear any noise. Surprisingly, it was quiet.
“What are you guys doing?”
You both jumped, turning around and seeing a confused Carl behind you.
Carl was Debbie’s little brother. They were both Gallagher’s. They were children of the alcoholic and drug addict Frank and Monica. They lived on the South Side of Chicago, which was where you also lived.
You were Y/n Ball. Daughter of Veronica Fisher and Kevin Ball. You had lived next to the Gallagher’s all your life. You were their best friend. Well, their only best friend, really. Your mom and their older sister, Fiona, had been friends since forever. You had been born around the same time as Debbie, who was the third oldest out of the 6 Gallagher children, so you two have been basically best friends since birth. Carl was also one of the Gallagher kids you were also the close with, too, him being just a year younger than you. You three had basically grown up together, so being best friends was pretty natural.
“We were seeing if you were fucking anyone,” Debbie answered.
Carl scrunched his face up in disgust. “I don’t do that.”
You laughed, “Sure you don’t. C’mon, C-Dog, I gotta pick up the little missies.”
“Alright, Y/n/n,” Carl smiled at the nickname you had given him ever since you two had gotten closer.
You two hadn’t always been close before. Debbie and you were by far the closest, with being in the same grade and all. You and Carl hung out a lot, but it wasn’t really until he started high school when you two actually hung out one-on-one. He had come to you for relationship advice when he was dating this one girl, Dominique, who turned out to be a horrible person. You two have since bonded about your past, failed relationships, and how shitty life is.
Since getting closer with him, you had kind of developed a little crush on him. He had always been cute, but when puberty hit him, he became really hot, really quick. You never showed any other feelings for him than platonic, though. You didn’t want to deal with all the drama that it would bring between you and your families.
“Stop eye-fucking each other, please,” Debbie groaned, walking away from you two.
You rolled your eyes, “Like you should talk. Every guy you meet you imagine sleeping with them.”
“Not true!” Debbie defended herself.
“Yeah, right. That’s why you have a baby,” Carl joked.
“You guys are so mean,” Debbie muttered.
“That one was pretty mean, but at least it didn’t come from me,” you smiled.
“Yeah, it came from the asshole who got circumcised for a girl,” Debbie laughed.
You laughed with her, Carl rolling his eyes and blushing. He looked to you and noticed a piece of paper peeking out from your jeans.
“What's that?” He asked and pointed.
“Oh, it’s a note that someone gave me,” you said. You took it out and gave it to Carl. He opened it and read it.
“This is nice,” he said.
“Yeah, it’s pretty cute,” you agreed. He handed you the note back. “Who do you think it is?”
“I don’t know, honestly. I’m kind of thinking it’s a joke, so I wanna wait till I get another one,” you said, folding it back into your pocket.
“I think it’s Dean Kepner,” Debbie stated. You rolled your eyes, “Yeah, you're the only one.”
“Is that the popular football guy? In your grade?” Carl asked.
“Yep. He’s so hot,” Debbie sighed dreamily.
“I don’t think so,” you stated.
Carl looked at you and nodded. “Yeah, I heard he does hard drugs.”
“Yeah, another reason why I don’t fuck with him. I mean, I have a beer every other night, but never am I gonna do drugs. That shit messes you up,” you sighed.
“Yeah, we know. We had Monica as our mother,” Debbie said.
You chuckled, walking over to your car. You got in the driver seat, Carl sitting in the passengers. Debbie usually sat there, but since she has a baby, you told her it wasn’t safe to put Franny in the passenger seat, especially since if the even of an accident, the airbag goes off and hurts Franny.
You drove to daycare, humming songs from the radio while doing so. While you were driving, Carl couldn’t help but stare between your face and the note in your pocket. You didn’t know, but the person who wrote you the note was him.
Carl was usually pretty confident and outgoing. All of his family like that. You had to do that to survive the South Side. But when it came to you, he was like jello. He didn’t know how to act, speak, whether he could look at you two seconds longer than normal. You never noticed his behaviour change, though. To you, he was always quiet and low-key. He was thankful that he never questioned why he was so quiet around you, especially since he was a loud, annoying kid when he was younger.
With these notes, he would be able to say what he was afraid to say to your face. He didn’t want to face rejection, especially by the pretty senior girl that had lived next to him since the day he was born. It would be awkward if you did reject him, so he just kept quiet until maybe he worked up the courage to ask you out depending on wether you liked the notes or not.
You parked in a handicap parking spot. “Alright, one of you wanna go and help me get Ames and Jems?” You asked.
“Carl, can you do it, I wanna stay with Franny,” Debbie said.
“Yeah, sure,” Carl nodded. He got out of the car with you, walking into the daycare.
You walked up to front desk. “Hi, I’m here for Amy and Jemma Ball. I'm their older sister, Y/n,” you said.
“Alright, can I see ID?” The woman asked.
You nodded and got your wallet out of your back pocket. You handed her your ID. She handed it back to you.
“Alright, go ahead and head in,” she said.
“Thank you,” you smiled.
She hummed a ‘you’re welcome’ as you and Carl went into the play room.
“Why do you have to give her your ID?” Carl asked.
“I think it’s because she’s new, and also I didn’t drop them off this morning. They wanna make sure no one kidnaps children,” you explained.
Carl nodded. “Ah, makes sense.”
“Yeah, the usual woman here, Julie, moved to Florida. She always gave me and the girls a mint when we left, and never asked for my ID,” you said.
“Wow, she sounds cool,” Carl said.
“Yep, she was,” you smiled.
You walked into the room, spotting Jemma and Amy immediately. They spotted you two, smiling and running up to you.
“Hi, babes!” You exclaimed, crouching down and catching them in your arms.
“Hi, Y/n!” They both squealed.
“Ready to go home?” You asked.
They both nodded.
“Alright. Let me go get your stuff, hang out with Uncle Carl for a few minutes, okay?” You said.
“Okay,” Jemma said.
You walked over to their cubby, grabbing their baby bags. You went back over to Carl, taking a hold of both of the girls’s hands.
“Let’s go, babes,” you said.
“I’m hungry!” Amy exclaimed.
“I’ll get you a snack when we get home, alright?” You asked.
Amy nodded, smiling excitedly. You smiled at her, looking up to see Carl opening the door for you.
“Thanks,” you smiled at him.
“No problem,” he nodded and followed behind you. You put the girls in the backseat with Debbie, unloading their bags in the trunk. You got in the front seat, starting the car.
“Do you want to be dropped off at your house or stay with us at my place?” You asked Carl.
“I'll hang with you guys,” Carl said.
You nodded, “Sounds good.”
You drove back home, parking the car on the side. You unlocked the front door, immediately dropping all the bags you had. You slumped on the couch, taking a breather.
“Can we have a snack?” Jemma asked.
“Oh, yeah, right,” you said, getting up. “You guys want some fruit snacks?” “Yeah!” Amy exclaimed.
You nodded, going to the pantry and getting two packs of fruit snacks for each of them. You led them back to the couch, turning on the tv.
“Watch TV with Franny, okay? Sissy has to do homework,” you said.
The twins nodded, looking at Paw Patrol, which was what was playing. You went to the kitchen table, unloading your backpack.
“You’re really good at taking care of them,” Carl said, sitting next to you.
You smiled, “Thanks. Mom and Dad do a lot, but since they are a little older and so am I, they let me have more responsibility. They have to work and stuff to make sure we can afford everything. I’d like to say I’m an expert at taking care of Amy and Jemma.”
Carl chuckled, “Yeah, I couldn’t imagine taking care of a kid.”
“Well, you have been taking care of Liam since he was born, right?” You asked.
Carl shrugged, “I guess.”
“Taking care of kids is easy if you like them,” you shrugged.
“Makes sense,” he said.
You hummed.
“So, are you waiting for another note?” Carl asked.
“Hm, kind of, yeah. I would be lying if I didn’t say I hoped this will turn into some cute, romantic love story with someone,” you chuckled.
Carl blushed a little, focusing on his own homework. “Yeah, that’d be nice.
————
“Yeah, Mom, I got it. No problem, see you later,” you said, hanging up the call. You sighed, walking slowly to your locker.
Your mom had just called you to come to the Alibi to help out since business was buzzing. Word was, Frank was up to one of his schemes again and got the Alibi full and drunk. You couldn’t wait to deal with perky, 50 year-old men catcalling you. You were wearing a sweatshirt, too, which you knew would make it worse since the men always would try to have you take it off, and never stopped pushing. Luckily, you had pepper spray with you at all times so if someone ever got too much, you wouldn’t hesitate to spray them.
You opened your locker, putting away a few binders when you noticed another note. You grabbed it, unfolding it with a hint of excitement. You would be lying if you said you hadn't been looking forward to this all day.
You opened the note, smiling widely as its contents.
Dear Y/n,
Your makeup looks amazing today. You’re really talented with the eyeliner and stuff. Oh, and your lipstick matches really well with your outfit, too.
From, Secret Admirer
“Another note, huh?” Debbie said, approaching you.
You smiled and nodded. “Yep.”
“What's that?” Carl asked.
“Another note from Y/n’s admirer,” Debbie smiled.
Carl flushed a little. “Oh.”
“Yeah,” you smiled. “I hope this is for real. I want to meet this person.”
“Maybe you will,” Carl said. You looked to him, a worried expression settling on your face.
“You okay, C-Dog?” You asked.
“Yeah. I’m gonna catch the bus. See you guys later,” he said, walking off quickly.
You furrowed your brows. “What's got his dick in a twist?”
“I have no idea. Maybe he likes you,” Debbie smirked.
Your heart fluttered a little at the thought of him liking you. Debbie knew you liked Carl, so maybe she was fucking with you, but you had to ask to be sure.
“Does he?”
“I think,” Debbie said.
“Oh,” you muttered. “Cool,” you smiled.
You weren’t going to confront him just yet, but you prayed to God your secret admirer was Carl.
————
“Hey, there’s something for you in the mail,” Veronica said.
You furrowed your brows. “Who’s it from?”
“It doesn’t have a name,” Veronica said, hanging you an envelope. “It just has your name on it.”
“Huh,” you said, taking the envelope. You tore it open, your eyes widening as you saw another note it in.
“What is it?” Kevin asked.
“A note,” you said. “From my secret admirer.”
“You have a secret admirer! Wow,” Kevin said.
“Yeah,” you chuckled. You sat on the couch, opening the note.
Dear Y/n,
I thought you looked really pretty today. I hope you dont find it weird I mailed this to your house, I actually live close to you, so I saw you crossing the street today. Anyways, I just thought I would let you know you look pretty.
From,
Secret Admirer
You found yourself giggling, setting the note down. Even though you were flattered, you found it a little weird this person knew where you lived, even if they supposedly lived near. You didn’t know why they couldn’t just tell you all these things in person.
“What does it say?” Veronica asked.
“The note calls me pretty,” you said, putting it back in its envelope.
“Hm, well, whoever this is isn’t wrong,” Veronica grinned. “Do you have any idea who it is?”
You sighed, “Nope. It says they live close to me, though.”
“Maybe it’s one of the Gallagher’s,” Kevin suggested.
Your eyes went wide, remembering what Debbie had said to a few days ago when you got the second note. You shook your head, though. Carl was out with his friends right now, you had just left his house, too, and there was no sign of him.
“Nah, no offence to them, none of them are this romantic or anything. Well, except Ian, but he’s gay,” you said.
“Maybe ask about it, though? All of our other neighbours are old men, and that does not look like old man handwriting,” Veronica said.
“Maybe I will. I mean, Debbie said Carl liked me, and when I got the second note, Carl was acting all weird and shit,” you said.
Veronica eyes widened. “Carl?”
“Yeah,” you said. “I don’t care if it's him, though, it'd be kind of weird.”
Veronica sat down on the couch next to you. “You like him, don’t you?”
“Kind of,” you said sheepishly.
“Well, I think you should ask him about it. If he says no, then don’t mention your feelings for him. If he says yes the notes are from him, then confess,” Veronica said.
“Should I do that?” You asked.
“I think so, baby. Carl’s a good kid, especially with you around. I wouldn’t have a problem with you two dating.”
You smiled, “Thanks, Mom. I’ll go to his place tomorrow.”
“My baby is about to get a boyfriend!” Kevin whooped. “If he hurts you, I will kill him.”
You chuckled, “Thanks, Dad.”
————
You walked into the Gallagher’s house, spotting Fiona in the kitchen.
“Hey, Fi,” you smiled.
“Hey, Y/n! Are you here fo Debbie? She went out,” Fiona said.
“No, actually. I’m here for Carl,” you said.
“Oh, okay. Well, he’s upstairs,” Fiona said.
“Thanks, Fi,” you smiled and made your way up to Carl’s room. You saw that the door was wide open.
You went in, not seeing Carl anywhere.
Where is he? You thought.
You went around his room, walking around the room. His room was ridiculously messy. Clothes everywhere, food and plates all over the dresser, weird liquid on the floor. You chuckled to yourself as you had to step over the puddle.
“Boys are horrific,” you muttered to yourself.
You went to the desk, sitting down in the desk chair. You looked around on the desk, seeing court date papers, old homework, and cigarette boxes. As you looked more to your right, something had caught your eye. There was a paper with your name on it on the back.
You picked it up hesitantly, slowly unfolding it. Your eyes widened as you saw the words “Dear Y/n”. You knew you shouldn't, but you went ahead and read it anyways. You just wanted to make sure you were correct of your suspicions.
Dear Y/n,
After these few weeks, I have decided to try and be brave and go up to ask you out. I think you’re really pretty and you’re so funny and nice. I’ve liked you since I started high school, and even if I get rejected, I know I would regret not trying to ask you out. So, I was wondering if you wanted to go on a date?
From,
Secret Admirer, aka Carl (Gallagher)
“Y/n?” You snapped your head back, seeing Carl in a towel. Your eyes quickly ran past his chest, seeing the toned muscles in his arms and stomach. You eyes went up to his face, lingering on his lips. You then went up to his eyes, seeing them wide and filled with wonder.
“Sorry, I’ll, uh, go,” you muttered and stood up, leaving the note on the desk.
“What?” Carl asked. He was beyond confused, but when he saw you and the note, he put the pieces together. As you went to walk out of his room, he grabbed your arm, pulling you back gently so you two were face-to-face.
“Did read the note?” He asked.
You looked up at him sheepishly, “Yeah, I’m sorry for invading your privacy.”
Carl sighed, “It’s alright. I’m, uh, sorry if I wasn't who you were expecting or anything. I know I’m probably not the person you like or anything, but I just wanted to try and see if you liked me. Ian and Lip said that was a cute idea, the notes.”
Your eyes lit up with he voiced his concerns. Your lips upturned into a smile, your eyes staring into his.
“Carl, I like you, too,” you said.
Carl’s eyes widened. “Wha-what?”
You took his hands in yours. “It was a cute idea. And I’ve liked you for the last 3 years, too. I was hoping it was you, actually.”
Carl blushed, a big smile appearing on his face. “Really?” “Yep,” you nodded.
“Awesome!” Carl chuckled. “So, do you want to go on a date with me?”
“Yeah, I’d love to,” you smiled.
“Cool,” he smiled. “Well, I need to get dressed. You can stay and watch if you want,” he smirked.
You giggled at his words. “Don’t mind if I do.”

Invisible String (11/?)
Pairing: Bucky Barnes x Female reader (Modern AU)
Word Count: 2.3k words
Warning : fluff, angst, shitty Steve, Don’t ask me why I make Steve so unlikable in every thing I write( PS I’m still mad at endgame Steve), mention of sex
If someone had told you that you would wake up snuggled to your boss — naked — you would have told them to fuck off and leave you alone. Not that the idea of James in your bed was repulsive, no, it was actually quite the opposite. You wanted him so much that it scared you because he — well, he was so gorgeous, and you were you. And he even looked better lying in your bed while the sunlight peaked onto his face from the window, making his stubble and hair appear golden-ish. Even as hard his exterior was, everything about him, mostly sleeping in your bed, appeared soft.
“You know, watching people while they sleep is kinda creepy,” James said, his voice gruff from sleep and you felt heat rushing through your body. God, his morning voice was so hot. It took a second for your brain to register his words and when it did, you moved your gaze away from him.
“You’re beautiful,” you blurted out. You could feel him rumbling as he rubbed his still sleep-dazed eyes.
He gently lifted his hand to place it on your face, caressing your cheek softly with his knuckles as he said, “You are beautiful."
You jokingly rolled your eyes and shifted your face slightly to plant a kiss on the inside of his palm. “Don’t you have a club to run?”
“The club can wait,” Bucky’s hand trailed off from your face to your waist and he flipped you, situating you on his lap and kissed you lazily while his hands roamed around your body.
***
Bucky felt like he was dreaming, he felt as if any moment you’ll slip out of his grasp and he would have to wake up. This was too good to be true, you were too good to be true. After an incredible morning, which included him pounding into you in your bed and then on the kitchen worktop and then in the shower. He couldn’t keep his hands to himself, he needed to touch you — feel you — make sure you were here with him safe.
It wasn’t just sex, it was so intimate that it felt so much more. The time when he wasn’t buried inside you, you’d talk about everything. He told you that when he was a kid, he loved baking. His mom worked, so he spent most of his time helping his sister with her new hobby. Rebecca soon grew out of it, but Bucky didn’t. He told you he’d love to open a bakery in a foreign country.
“You know, we can go to Europe,” you suggested. “You can open a bakery and maybe some chocolate whiff is all I need to break out from my writing slump.”
Bucky’s heart ached at your confession, he was delighted to know that he wasn’t the only one that was fantasizing about a future with you. He had never told his ambitions to anyone, mainly because when he did tell someone, they laughed at him. His career and exterior did not match his dreams, and soon those dreams died. But you made him desire that peaceful life. He wanted peace and tranquility in his life with you. Maybe tomorrow he would wake up and realize that this was some dream, and he was alone in his apartment and not in your bed.
“Have you thought of a name yet?” you asked, “For the bakery.”
“Did you recall that song you were humming?”
“No,” you said, “But I’m sure it will make a great bakery name.”
You curled up into his chest, you were almost asleep. He kissed the top of your head, refusing to succumb to sleep, holding you tightly so that even if this was an elaborate fantasy that his mind had conjured, he was adamant to still make the most of it.
***
After leaving your house to get ready for work, that's when he finally realized that this was real. You were his, and he was yours in a sense that no amount of words could comprehend. You hadn’t put any official labels on your relationship, but the way you moaned his name and breathlessly whispered, “I’m yours. All yours.” multiple times in his ears was enough.
Bucky hated when people called him James, it reminded him of his father, but the way you said his name with adoration filled in your eyes and tone made him content. You made him feel content and happy with everything you did without even realizing it. Bucky hoped he could do the same for you — make you feel at peace.
“I’ve been calling you since morning,” Steve commented the moment Bucky entered his office. He eyed the group of people — Steve, Sam, Clint, Pietro, Wanda, and Peter in his office before exhaling. Although Bucky was their boss, that didn't deter them from treating him like the friend he was. He didn’t mind that either, these people gave him a sense of belonging — a family, and he would give his life for them just like they would for him.
“I was asleep,” Bucky lied. And of course, his friends didn’t buy it.
“I came by your place this morning. You weren't there sleeping,” Steve retorted. He didn’t like how his best friend who he saw as a brother was hiding things from him.
Fuck, Bucky thought. Admittedly, he wasn't at his place, he was at yours. He didn’t know what to say when six sets of eyes were looking at him expectantly. He couldn’t tell the truth, he wasn't a kiss-and-tell kind of guy. He wanted to avoid telling because you met these people every day, and it would become awkward for you; but mostly he didn’t want anyone to find out because it was so new for him that he was scared to even mention your relationship, terrified of jinxing it.
Just when he was about to muster up an excuse, a soft knock on his office door snapped everyone’s attention towards the entrance. Bucky’s relief was short-lived the moment he realized it couldn’t be anyone except you. Now everyone was looking at Bucky impatiently, waiting for him to respond.
If it were anyone else Bucky would have asked them to go away, but it was you. You were knocking at his door. He wanted to see you, see the marks hidden behind the concealer or collar when he sucked your neck a little too hard the previous night and this morning. Mainly, he wanted to see you.
“Come in,” He said, ignoring the stares his friends were giving him. His breath hitched at your sight, you were really breathtaking. You weren't looking at him or anyone in the room. No, you were holding two coffees and a bag of donuts in your hand. Your eyes were focused and you were looking inside the bag, searching for a dish to put his donut in, when you said, “I knew you'd skip breakfast after you left this morning. I brought you -”
“Y/N,” Wanda cut you off.
Bucky internally thanked Wanda because he didn’t have it in him to stop you from speaking. And that’s when you finally looked up and were met with seven people staring at you. Sam, Wanda, and Pietro were looking at you with a smirk on their face. Peter looked down at his feet. Clint was clueless and confused. Steve wasn’t looking at you, he was staring at his best pal who lied to him about his whereabouts. And Bucky’s eyes were fixed on you and when yours landed on his, he smiled at you and shook his head, telling you that he got you.
“What are you doing here, Y/N? Your shift doesn’t start till night,” Pietro informed, he was clearly teasing you. And soon a sense of understanding came to Clint’s senses when he joined the dots and his eyes widened before a smirk formed on his lips.
“I… I,” you stuttered. Your brain couldn't come up with an excuse this quickly. Bucky opened his mouth to say something, but you raised your hands and the packet of donuts with it and excitedly said, “I brought doughnuts!”
“Thank you!” Bucky exclaimed, swiftly walking towards you, taking the donuts from your hand, and placing it on the table. He draped his arm around your waist before leading you outside his office. His friends knew now, he wasn’t going to tone down the PDA in front of them. He just didn't want you to feel awkward or under anyone's subjection.
“I’m sorry. I didn’t know,” you started once you were away from everyone. “I wouldn’t have if I knew -”
Bucky’s lips landed on yours, stopping your rambling. His arms snaked around your waist, pushing you flush against his chest, and you wrapped your hands around his neck. “It wasn’t your fault,” he mumbled adjacent to your lips and you sighed in relief.
“I just wanted to bring you breakfast since we couldn’t have it,” you pouted, flusteredly thinking about the morning activities that stopped you from having breakfast.
Bucky beamed down at you and planted another soft kiss on your lips. “How about I make it up to you at lunch,” he suggested, “I'll bake something for you too.”
You nodded excitedly and were about to leave when Bucky gently took your wrist in his hand. “Doll, text me when you reach home, yeah?”
***
Bucky dreaded going back into his office, he knew he would be bombarded with questions and knowing smirks. He decided to rip off the band and entered the office. “Okay, go for it, ask away.”
“How long has this been going on?” Steve was the first one to question.
“I mean, officially since last night.”
Sam was about to drop a snarky comment when Pietro chimed in. “Who asked who out?”
“I asked her out,” Bucky answered, and was bewildered. “Why is that important?”
“I knew it!” Wanda cheered and raised her hand, palms up, towards the blond. “Pay up,” Pietro grumbled before handling her sister 20 dollars.
“You guys bet on us?” Bucky asked and was met with amused snickers from everyone except Steve. Peter stepped forwards before saying, “I had no part in this, Mr. Barnes.”
The twins rolled their eyes before Steve interjected another one of Sam’s almost snippy comments. “She is the reason you attacked Rumlow, isn't she?”
Sam raised his hands in frustration and turned towards his husband. “Come on, babe. You just had to ruin the fun.”
Bucky exhaled and answered honestly, “Yes, but I can’t tell you why. You just have to take my word for it and trust me that he deserved it.”
“Buck, I’m not saying I don’t trust you, but you have to understand where my fear is coming from,” Steve said, “I know Rumlow and I know he's planning something big. We have to be careful. You can't be distracted by this girl, pal.”
Bucky was furious. He did not expect his best bud to say that. Steve knew how much Bucky pinned for you, he knew how much Bucky wanted you. How could he just say that about you after knowing all of this? “That’s rich coming from you after you told me to be happy.”
Bucky huffed in disbelief, his voice filled with venom. “Well, guess what, pal? She makes me happy.”
Nobody dared to intervene between the childhood friends. Everyone knew that Steve was saying stupid shit out of concern, but Bucky couldn’t see it. Bucky would fight anyone for you, even his best pal.
“You attacked our enemy because of this girl that you’ve been with since what — a day?” Steve scoffed sarcastically, and Bucky’s breath was drawn and his fists balled.
“I attacked him because he-” Bucky cursed himself and inhaled sharply. He couldn’t do this to you, it wasn't his decision to tell. You had decided that nobody would find out about what Rumlow did to you, not even cops, and Bucky respected your decision. He wouldn’t do this to you, especially not out of anger and in front of multiple people you didn't even know.
Before Steve could say something, Bucky’s phone vibrated on the table. A text, Bucky assumed it was you, informing him that you had reached home. You — thinking about you made him take a breath and calmed him a bit. He decided he would text you in the privacy of his office, after his friends would leave. He would text you back or better call you when he wasn’t fuming with rage at his best friend, then he would take you out on a lunch date.
Bucky was about to reach for his phone when Clint finally spoke up, “Steve, we will be careful, okay? We will contact our sources and find out about Rumlow’s plan.”
All the heads present in the office accepted this decision. Sam scolded Steve and Bucky and made them hug out their issues like kindergarteners. Peter offered to make a drink and everyone made their way downstairs towards the bar, leaving the office and Bucky’s phone unattended.
What Bucky didn’t know was that Rumlow’s plan was already in action, in reality, he had even succeeded in his plan.
If Bucky had checked his phone, then he would have realized it wasn't a text from you, instead, it was a text from an unknown number with an attached photo. The picture was of you tied to a chair, your eyes half-lidded with drugs and tears, and a bruise forming on your left cheek.

I wasn’t at the BAU long before it started to feel like home. The team became my family, pure and simple.
Having been recruited by Hotch at only 22 I'd sort of fallen into the roll of the little sister to the team without really meaning to. It's not that I was naive, or particularly sheltered even. I know I'm good at my job, and I'd want to be, given how my life's revolved around it almost entirely. But the team seemed to adopt a protective mindset over me right off the bat.
When I first joined the FBI everything was terrifying. I worked so hard for my PhD, trying to get into the unit, but there's almost nothing that can actually prepare you for the real thing. Being out in action in the field, working the cases out in real time. Sometimes they had a smooth, easy conclusion followed by loud obnoxious drinks together. Then there were the others, the ones that kept me up for days after and felt as though they owned little pieces of my heart still.
It was JJ that helped the most on those horrible flights back on the jet. Noticing my anxious ticks and uneasy disposition after that first case that had ended badly. JJ had been through it all before, taking too many cases home with her. Seeing her son's little faces in the kids that we couldn't help. If I was the baby of the team JJ was the big sister, looking out for everyone.
Morgan on the other hand was the outrageously cool older brother, the one you just wanted to be. Early on he'd helped my weak self with the ruthless fitness regimen the FBI required, he offered to pull some strings and get the test written off. But I couldn't accept that, there was something in me that just wanted to impress Morgan, and honestly still does. Like somehow if he thought you were cool, then it became true. So I passed the exam, but getting up a flight of stairs was near impossible for a week after.
Emily was probably the fun aunt. The one that would sneak you booze at the family gathering, or take you to your first concert. Emily was actually the one who'd found me, digging around colleges for potential recruits she'd had me picked out for a while I later found out. Insisting that Hotch give me a shot. It was reassuring to know I had someone who would stick up for me from day one.
I was an tech analyst, among other things, sort of a counterpart for Garcia in the field. So it was no surprise to anyone when the two of us hit it off as though we'd known each other forever. We weren't the same by any means though. Penelope was bold, and bright, and confident beyond measure, where I've typically felt like more of a blend into the background type. I've always thought of myself that way, despite my achievements. I'd also always believed I was fairly inoffensive, no one I'd met had ever had a huge problem with me, 'till I got to the BAU that is.
Every rose has its thorn I suppose.
That thorn in my side was Dr. Spencer Reid.
It wasn't that Dr. Reid was a bad agent, or even a bad person. I hadn't actually met him before that first day in the conference room, but I'd known who he was for a long time. Before I came along he'd held the mantle of 'youngest ever recruit' in the unit, while I was studying I'd read any of his work I could get my hands on because of that fact.
I figured it must've been some sort of hazing when he looked me up and down that first day I was introduced, and then proceeded to blank me entirely for a full week. Up until I'd wrapped my first case.
The whole team went straight from the jet to the bar. Proceeding to get far too drunk. Spencer joined, which the rest of the team found unusual, and I probably should've taken as a sign of things to come.
That case went well, and everyone was in high spirits but Reid had a sour disposition, at least it seemed that way every time he looked at me. After a few too many drinks I went outside in an attempt to sober up in the cold air, unfortunately Reid must've snuck outside not long before.
"Ugh" was all he said when he first caught my silhouette approaching him. The night was unusually cold so it had been deserted outside the bar that evening. I wasn't really sure why it made me nervous to be alone with him like this, the two of us leaning back against the same small area of brick wall, looking out at the cold night.
"Nice to see you too doctor" was all I could muster, I was drunk enough that I let my sarcastic tone leap out, "you can relax, I'm just trying to get some fresh air, it's too stuffy in there, and loud. I'm not here to talk to you or anything."
"Well aren't you a sensitive thing" he responds in kind, at that point I wasn't really sure if it was a coincidence or if he'd been genuinely avoiding me, but things were starting to clear up.
"I'm sensitive, that's a fun take on things" I joke, taking a long sip of cold water from my glass.
"And what's that supposed to mean, newbie?" his emphasis on the last word all but confirms my suspicions.
"Fuck man, what's your problem with me? Is it because I'm new, or because I beat your stupid record?" I quip. hoping that at the very least it might coax him out of his shell. Dr. Spencer Reid getting angry at me could honestly be better than the nothing I'd been experiencing from him until now.
"What stupid record?" he sounds genuinely confused
"I'm the youngest BAU recruit now?" I didn't know why else he could be so sour. He'd never met me before last week, and since he'd ignored me that first day I'd done all I could not to step on his toes. So if he had a reason to hate me this much, it wasn't something I'd done on purpose.
He takes a few moments to respond, raising his eyebrows and considering the information. He chuckles. He fucking chuckles.
"That's funny." he says, his voice leveling out, "I didn't peg you as funny newbie" that word sets something off in me again. Something about it is dismissive, or belittling. Before I could fight back he starts to move, maneuvering around me and heading back inside. A little too tipsy to think of anything constructive to say, I just mutter "Fuck you Spencer."
He swings open the door, as he walks inside he just says "See you Monday, Newbie" without even looking at me.
And that was only the beginning.
----
"You know I'm just trying to make sure you get enough rest sweetheart. There's no need to get so defensive!" it was far too early in the morning to be dealing with this call. Since joining the BAU a few years ago this was a standard call from my Mom. Equal parts well meaning and over-bearing, and generally asking far too many questions.
"I'm not getting defensive Mom, I get plenty of rest, my job is just very important to me and you know that." I knew she was right to be at least a little worried, this job was consuming, and in all honesty I wasn't sure how people like JJ were married and still here. It seemed like an impossible feat.
"Fine sweetie, how are your co-workers doing then? How's Penelope? Give her my love" she loved Penelope, I think she thought that Penelope tethered me to the normal world, and in a way she was right. She kept me sane, and fun, and made me eat pizza and do face masks once a week at least. Even when I didn't think I wanted to.
"Pen's great Mom, everyone's good. Well, the usual ones get on my nerves, but I'm fine." As I say it I glance across at Dr. Reid, the only person who's also in as early as I am most days. I'm not sure if he can hear me but he's tapping his pen so loud on his desk that it takes all of my energy not to walk across the bullpen and stab him with it.
"Y'know what Mom, I'm actually just after getting to work and it's a busy day so can I call you back later?" I chance, getting her off the phone is always an ordeal.
"Fine, fine, I'll let you go. But wait one last thing!"
I knew what was coming. It was always coming.
"Are you seeing anyone, Margot's been wondering too, just thought I'd check in?"
Pinching the bridge of my nose and trying not to scream down the line, I just sigh out the frustration instead.
"No Mom, believe it or not, I've made no progress on that front since you asked me all of 3 days ago."
"See you are being defensive!" she snaps
"I gotta go, bye Mom. Love you!" I say, hanging up quickly before dropping my head down into my arms on my desk, resting like that for a few moments in silence.
Hearing Garica chuckle behind my ear I perk up and spin around. She's holding a small paper cup of coffee and hands it to me. I look at it confused, "Sorry about the paper, I couldn't find your mug in the cabinet" she apologizes, looking over at Dr. Reid and rolling her eyes. Now I know he can hear me from his seat, he takes that moment to sip from my mug and place it gently back on his desk.
It hadn't taken long for him to start toying with me. It was always stupid childish things. Things I couldn't get genuinely annoyed at, that would give him far too much satisfaction, knowing he was getting to me in any real way. This was one trick he liked to play if he got into the office before me, he'd take my mug and make his coffee in it, just to spite me I guess.
"Why does he even do that, it's so stale" she said, just a little louder than normal to make sure he could hear. Garcia and Reid were still good friends and team-mates but she liked to stand up for me when she could. He liked to avoid me as much as possible so he'd usually go to Garcia before me if he needed help with something. Even when the two of us were out in the field together. Which was obnoxious but it was just another thing I'd gotten used to over time. And as long as it didn’t interfere with the case I just forced myself to let it go.
"I know it's such low grade bullying isn't it?" I shot back with a chuckle.
"So I'll take it that was Mommy dearest" Penelope gestures to my phone. She knew my Mom, and she knew about her general overbearing energy. I let out a groan thinking about the call again, and the calls that were to come.
"Isn't it always Mommy dearest?" I joke
"So she's still on your ass about the wedding then?" I'm sure Penelope was almost as sick of hearing about it as I was,
"Margot's getting married in like 4 months now, and every time Mom calls there’s just some new hometown loser she wants to set me up with Pen. It's fucking exhausting" I take a sip of the coffee she made me, savoring the bitter taste. She sits down on my desk for a moment, leaning in.
"Honey, did you ever think that if you got out there and found someone, she wouldn't be on your ass at all?" I don't want to think about that, about how she's completely right. All I can do is let out another small groan and lean back down onto my desk.
"Too early Pen" I say, it's muffled by the desk but she gets the message. Hopping up and heading to her own office as some more people start to arrive for the morning.
Leaving me alone to make a start on my paperwork that had built up throughout the week. Fridays were usually slow like this, giving me a little too much time to think. I couldn't shake the thought that my Mom and Penelope were actually right. Maybe I was a bit too invested in the job, and maybe that was a pretty big factor in why my last relationship imploded but I wasn't about to admit that to anyone.
----
After that the day crawls by, thankfully no cases pop up so the weekend might actually be free. Trying to make sure I clear up all of my paperwork takes a little longer than I'd hoped and leaves me alone in the bullpen. It seems like everyone's gone home by the time I've packed up and I'm ready to leave. Which wasn't as out of the ordinary as I'd like it to be really. Everyone else seemed to have somewhere to be on a Friday night.
Waiting for the elevator to arrive my phone started to ring, I could see my Mom's caller ID on the screen. If I just let it go I know she'll call back later, may as well get it out of the way. I take a deep breath in anticipation before I answer.
"Hey what's up?" I answer, stepping inside the elevator as the doors ping open.
"Hi sweetie, I've got good news! Do you remember David? That lovely boy, he helped out your Father that summer in high school?" I know what's coming and rub my temple, trying to stifle the headache I know is coming. As I answer a hand slides between the elevator doors, popping them open again.
Dr. Fucking Reid walks in, and he looks about as happy to see me as I am to see him. I make eye contact and look away just as fast, willing him away with my mind. "Yes Mom, I remember him, why are you telling me this?" I already know the answer but I'm fed up, she still sounds excited when she responds.
"Well you won't believe it! I ran into him at the market this morning and I thought you'd like it if I passed on your phone number to him, maybe for the weddi-" it took all I had not to shout into the receiver, and maybe I would've had the elevator been empty.
"Mom! Jesus!" I have to reign myself in, but I have a bad idea, "You know what, I'm actually sorted. I've got a date lined up now" I'm not sure why I said it with no real plan in place. She sounds even more excited than I've ever heard her.
"Oh my, that's amazing sweetie! That was fast, I can't believe you found one since this morning, it's someone from work so?" she assumes, and I'm just not thinking fast enough to correct her.
"Mmhmm, yeah" I'll figure out the logistics later I rationalize.
"Oh! Is it that boy you're always on about, the one who teases you?" she asks, and her voice is full of joy, and it makes me feel horrible that I'm lying already, and that I'm going to let her down.
"Yup, that's the one, look Mom I gotta go, I'll talk to you later! Night" I blurt out so fast it has to be obvious I'm nervous.
I can hear a stifled chuckle behind me. Fuck. How loud is my phone speaker. Could he hear that. Surely not. But this elevator was completely silent. The doors open and I have to stop myself from running to my car at top speed. Instead I walk out just a little faster than normal, turning around to shoot him a small wave goodbye. And he's got this devious smirk on his face that makes my stomach turn.
Sitting into my car I pull out my phone to text Garcia immediately.
I'm on my way to yours right now. It's urgent.
——
Traffic's light so it takes maybe 10 minutes before I arrive at Garcia's place. My mind's racing and my body takes me there on autopilot. Why did I say any of that, why did I even answer the damn phone. Why did I wave goodbye to Spencer, I never usually did that. Maybe that's why he had that look on his face. Maybe he was just thinking of something funny that happened earlier and it had nothing to do with me at all. That was something he'd do to mess with me for sure.
How was I going to walk this back with my Mom, she was just gonna have more questions that I couldn't answer. Fuck.
Garcia buzzed me up and her door was open for me by the time I got up the stairs. This little purple apartment had become my second home. It was where I spent most of my evenings off, laughing on the same sofa I was collapsing face first into right now. Garcia nestles in beside me and runs her hand over my hair, "Hey sweet pea, what's happening? I don't want to sound too concerned but you're not giving me much to go off? Are you dying, is there drama? You're going to have to tell me what's so urgent before I burst a blood vessel?"
I let out a muffled, "is drahmuh" into the pillow, Garcia shakes my shoulders.
"Sit up babe, damn!" I have to heave myself out of the pillows, sitting upright on the sofa beside her, clutching one of the pillows in my arms.
"It's drama" I repeat,
"Well, out with it then, you know I'll take all the drama I can get! Spill, spill" she rushes me along. I'm already apprehensive, Reid's her coworker too, but if anyone would understand why this was such an issue it was gonna be her.
"Okay, I'm after doing something stupid and I think I really need your advice" I cringe already, thinking back to the elevator, throwing out my words faster, I continue the story, mostly trying to get it over with, "my Mom called again when I was on the way out tonight and she was trying to set me up with this guy, and Reid was there, and I got all flustered, and I told her I had a date already" I throw my head down into the pillow again.
"Wait why was Reid there?" she looks like she's trying to fit puzzle pieces together and she's getting nowhere, "And what's the drama?"
"Shit Garcia, it was in the elevator and it was all quiet, and maybe he heard the call, maybe he didn't but he had this fuckin' look on his stupid face" I can't shake the smug little smirk, it's burned inside my eyelids. Garcia's face falls in what looks like disappointment.
"Ugh Y/N! That's nothing chill out, why does it matter if he heard your call? I know you guys are all weird but none of that is any of his business anyway!" she shoo's her hand in the air, dismissing the whole situation.
"No Garcia, it is his business now" I have to close my eyes when I say it, I can't look at her "I told my Mom that he was my date, well, I didn't say his name or anything, she assumed it was someone from work and so I just agreed, and then she suggested that it was him and then I fucking panicked Pen, I fucked up so bad. What do I do?"
I finally opened my eyes to look up at Garcia. She was sitting in pure silence, pursing her lips in what seemed like contemplation. The puzzle pieces finally slotting together. It's as though a light bulb goes off behind her eyes and she bursts out in fits of laughter. Doubling over on herself before finally taking a few breaths to calm herself down. I'm honestly not sure why she finds the whole thing so funny, she know's how needlessly annoying he's made my life, she's seen it first hand and heard me talk about it over and over again in this very apartment over pizza.
"Garcia, this is not fucking funny! This is serious!" I try to calm her down, I need advice not whatever this is.
"I'm so sorry Y/N, I love you dearly. But this isn't funny, this is hilarious. It's like you're Sandra Bullock in some mid-90's rom com. I love it" I don't love it, in fact I hate it. I nearly snap at her but pull myself back.
"Pen, come on, help me out. What do I do with this, how do I fix it?" I plead.
She stops laughing and pulls out her phone, "Okay, I'm sorry. I'm going to order us a pizza, and we're gonna sort this thing out together, sound good?" I just nod and collapse back into the sofa. I think I feel better now that I've gotten it out in the open.
----
Penelope makes us tea while we wait for the pizza, she keeps lemon & ginger in her cabinet for me, just like I keep mint for her. The warm mug and the steam calm me down. After a few minutes alone to think about it I start to figure it out a little better. I figure I can just lie to my Mom for a while, it might suck but I can pretend for a bit and then make up some excuse as to why he can't come closer to the time. Then I can just bring Garcia instead and everyone's happy. I'm about to float my plan to her there's a knock on her door. I was so caught up that I hadn't really noticed quite how starving I'd gotten. Leaping up of the sofa to grab the door.
I swing it open but it's not the pizza guy. Somehow it's the opposite of the pizza guy, my worst nightmare is on the other side of the door. He must notice my eyes blow completely wide. "Y/N!" he says, more of a statement than a question really, like he's telling himself that he's actually seeing me in the doorway. I'm not as gentle.
"What the fuck are you doing here Reid?!" I can't even disguise my anger. He seems a little flustered, like he's got absolutely no idea how to proceed.
"Um, uh, is Garcia here? I can, um, I can just come back later?" he swallows hard and shakes his head, before I can agree and tell him to get lost Penelope races to the door, pulling it wide open.
"Nope, that won't be necessary Doctor! Come on in, you're right on time sweetheart" she waves him in and he walks past me, his demeanor changing almost instantly. He's smug, like he's won whatever battle this was. And I hate it. Though he's still as confused as me despite the newfound attitude. Reid sits down on the sofa, right where I had been sitting. I bite my tongue and sit on the opposite end.
"Are you okay Garcia?" he asks with a genuine concern, "What's going on, what was the emergency?". He's not stupid, he knows she's not in danger now that he's here. But he wants answers. I don't know that I've ever seen him this confrontational with anyone, well anyone but me. The entire time I’m staring her down as she sits in the armchair opposite the two of us. My keys are in my pocket and my car's right outside. I could just jump up and make a break for it. Escape.
"You know what Doc, you won't believe it but I'm not actually the one with the emergency" she takes a beat, and I'm starting to think that I might understand why people murder other people after all these years, "Y/N has something urgent she needs to talk to you about" she's silent for another moment, and she almost looks giddy, "Actually Spencer, you might already know a little something about the matter already, now that I think about it" she smirks, and it's pure joy.
My keys are in my hand ready to bolt when the doorbell chimes again. "Oh, that'll actually be the pizza this time, if you two will excuse me" she hops up out of the armchair and races to the door, leaving the two of us alone in a horrible silence. The tension is almost too much, I want to speak but I really have no idea what to say, or how to even start saying it. But he starts.
"Y/N what's going on, I feel like I'm out of the loop here? What am I missing?" he asks, and there's something uncharacteristically genuine about the way he says it, but he can't turn to look at me as he speaks. I almost want to let my guard down and just have a conversation but I can’t force myself to do it. "Shut up Reid." is all I mutter, folding my arms across my chest.
He turns sharply on the sofa to face me. "Hey Y/N. Believe it or not I'm about as happy as you with whatever kind of Parent Trap situation Garcia's got going on here. But from what I'm picking up on you've got a problem and I'm supposed to be able to help with it. So do you want to tell me what's going on or not? I can just go?" I can see that there's an anger bubbling right below the surface, threatening to burst. I know I shouldn't but I let him stew in silence for a little too long and he jumps up off the sofa.
"Y'know what, typical" he mutters, rolling his eyes as he says it, "this is all about you." he throws his bag over his shoulders and begins to walk towards the door. Something in me just snaps.
"All about me?! Are you fucking kidding? I've been tip-toeing around you for years, ever since I joined this damn unit!" I shout as Garcia comes back into the room, pizza box and plates in her hands.
"So, who's hungry?" Garcia asks, trying to break the tension, or pretending there's no tension at all. Reid shakes his head in disbelief and rubs his temple before he speaks again, "Actually I was just gonna head out" he gestures to the door, "I'm clearly not wanted here so I'm gonna leave you guys to it." Spencer makes a move to leave but Garcia grabs the strap of his shoulder bag, yanking him back ever so slightly before he really has the chance to escape.
"You are going absolutely nowhere kid" She points back to the sofa, "get back there" she glances to me, staring with far too much intensity. "You too, sit." Her voice is more stern than I've ever heard it, even while we were on a case. I can't help but obey her command and I sit back down on the sofa in silence. Followed by Reid, clearly processing the same uneasy feeling of a serious Penelope.
She sits opposite the two of us again. "Y/N, Spencer, I love the two of you with all of my heart, albeit separately, and I would die for either one of you. But you've got to chill the hell out!" she says it like she's had it bottled up forever. The tension that releases from her as she says it looks euphoric.
She opens up the pizza box and lays it on the coffee table and takes out a slice for herself. Taking a bite she leaves the two of us in stunned silence. Once she finishes the mouthful she turns to me specifically, "Y/N you tell him, or I will." dead serious. And the feeling in my belly is like I've just fallen down an elevator shaft.
My stomach is in knots as I turn to Spencer on the sofa next to me. His face is puzzled and I think I might be able to make out pure terror in his expression. I don't know that I've ever been looked at like this before and my stomach screws up tighter. I have to take a deep breath and I can't believe I'm about to say it. "Fuck it" I have to take another breath almost immediately so I just have to force the rest out, "I don't know if you heard the call I was on while we were in the elevator earlier?" I look up to gauge his reaction and I can see his face relax, and worse than that, one corner of his mouth lifts into a sort of smile. It's a look of pure smug satisfaction and I think I might scream. I have to close my eyes because I really don't think I can look at that face as I say the next part.
"My sister is getting married in a few months and my Mom's been on my ass to find a date for the wedding and she keeps trying to set me up with these losers, so I fucking panicked, and I told her you were my date." by the time the sentence is out my eyes have screwed up so tight it feels like I have to pry them open.
He sits in silence for too long. Thinking, maybe?
"So I'm the boy who teases you then?" he grins. So he did hear. And he did laugh. He looks far too self satisfied. Now he knows he's right. He knows I've talked to my Mom about him, that he's gotten in my head. I can tell from his smile that he's savoring the moment. Mostly because I can't slap the smug smile off his face I drop my head into my hands. In an effort to disappear I guess.
"So," he says, taking a moment, "is that all you wanted to say then?" he asks, lighthearted and obnoxious, back to his usual self. I snap back to reality, shooting my head back up.
"What do you mean is that all?" I throw back genuinely shocked,
"Is that all you had to say Y/N? Can I go now? It's a long bus ride home y'know" he smirks but makes no effort to move. He can't possibly be making me do this.
"Well no, obviously!" I stutter, "I mean, are you, will you, uh?" I can't bring myself to say it out loud. He leans in on the sofa looking directly at me, refusing to break eye contact.
"Did you have something you wanted to ask me Y/N?" I just want to smack that fucking look off his face,
"Fuck you Spencer Reid" I almost whisper under my breath, but Garcia snaps me back to reality.
"Hey!" she looks at me, stern again, "Ask him." it's not a question, or a suggestion, it's a command.
"Fine okay" I scrunch my eyes up again, "Will you come to my sisters wedding with me as my fake boyfriend?" I curl up into myself as I say it, I can almost feel the bile rising up from my stomach. Like I'm having a biological reaction to the whole thing.
Reid crosses his arms and sinks back on the sofa, like he's performing the act of thinking. He's considering my offer to make me squirm.
When he finally speaks he says "Well I would Y/N, but I really fail to see what's in it for me" he's after getting cocky now.
Garcia pipes up, excited, "Oh, Oh! I know! I have an idea!" she interjects, "Spencer remember how a while ago, back after your apartment flooded you were all all worried about your antique books and prints and stuff?" he nods, "Well Y/N could digitize the collection for you as a back up? I know you're a technophobe? C'mon Y/N, you know you could do that no sweat, and it would take you a lifetime alone Spencer?" I really don't want to admit it but she's right. Even I knew Reid was adverse to any technology that wasn't vital, but it was your specialty. And maybe that was a good trade off, a job like that would be near impossible for him to pull off without help. I take a glance over at Reid and he seems to have had the same train of thought as me. He lets out an exaggerated sigh and relaxes his posture.
"Fine, I guess that's a fair trade. I'm in." he resigns and I almost can't believe it. I'm barely processing the whole conversation as he sticks his hand out to me, I'm confused for a second before I grab it and shake it firmly. Condemning myself to whatever's about to happen. And it's not the time to be thinking about it but maybe this is the first time Spencer and I have ever touched? But I shove that thought away.
Garcia's positively beaming and she's not even trying to hide it. "Now it's like you're both in a Sandra Bullock movie, oh, but you're Hugh Grant maybe?" she points to Reid.
"Don't push it" I shoot in her direction, taking a slice of pizza, now that my anxiety stomach has sort of passed.
Once the pizza's been eaten in near completely awkward silence Spencer stands up off the sofa. His unsure demeanor has returned and he looks nervous. "I actually should get going this time" he says but Garcia pipes up to protest,
"No, it's not even late!"
"It takes me a while to get back home, thank you though Pen. For... this?" he gestures to the whole living room, "Night" he waves. He's almost made it to the door before I stand up out of my seat. I'm not really sure what comes over me, maybe it's gratitude, maybe it's guilt, or maybe I'm just exhausted.
"Wait Spencer. Let me give you a ride home?" I ask and it's like it's not even me saying it .
"Thanks, but I think I can make it home just fine" he dismisses, and there’s an antagonizing tone in his voice that snaps me right back to our usual rapport.
"I'm trying to do a nice thing here, fuck! Just let me do something nice!" I snap, and he throws his arms up in surrender.
"Fine alright, if it'll make you feel better"
"Fuck you Reid" I mutter under my breath and I sort of hope that he does hear me really. If he's gonna be hostile about this I can be too. I give Garcia a hug goodbye but I'm going to scold her for this whole thing later.
----
I lead the way outside and climb into my car, Spencer hops into the passenger seat and it feels as strange as always to be alone with him. Especially because it's not an accident, and it's not in work. Maybe this was a horrible idea. He seems like he's unwilling to break the silence, so I just get it over with.
"Where the hell do you live man? I'm gonna need directions." I say, as deadpan as I can muster, which probably isn't all that intimidating.
"Sorry, yeah, so you're gonna want to turn on the ignition" he teases. I definitely wasn't intimidating enough.
"Don't push it" I say, turning to give him a cruel stare, he just reacts with a smirk, that same one from the elevator earlier.
"Oh, I'm pushing it?" he asks, feigning disbelief
"I'll kick you out of this damn car" is all I can think to say. He barely responds, he just lets out a soft chuckle. I want to ask 'what's so funny' but he speaks before I can get the words out.
"I can't believe you talk to your Mom about me" he continues to laugh. That's enough.
"You know what Reid, of course I have! I work with actual murderers on a daily basis and somehow you've been the only real source of friction in my life since I joined the BAU!" He stops giggling a little, but not entirely, he looks like he's making an effort to contain himself.
"I'm sorry. I guess I just never knew I got to you like that" he still finds the whole thing amusing, but I sure as hell don't.
"Directions, now" I demand, looking straight out the front windshield.
"Fine, keep going straight on this road for a while and I'll tell you when to turn" he says, finally playing nice.
The two of us drive silently for most of the journey, the radio playing softly in the background. Eventually we arrive outside his building, and it's nicer than I thought it would be. But I have no idea what I was really basing that on. For some reason it hadn't occurred to me that Dr. Reid lived in an actual home, I had pictured him sleeping upside down in a cave maybe, or in a cryogenic chamber with all the other life-like genius robots.
"So," he says, breaking the silence, "When is this wedding?"
"4 months from now, in and around" I respond, matter of factly. Spencer nods, taking it in.
"Alright, so I've got 4 months, in and around, to learn enough to convincingly pass as your loving boyfriend. Doesn't sound so difficult." he jokes, his tone harsh and sarcastic.
"Look Spencer, I know this is insane and honestly kind of stupid. But in all seriousness, you can back out right now if you're not on board with whatever this is. I'm telling you this is the last exit ramp." I try to say it with sincerity, giving him a genuine out if he's not comfortable with the weird set-up that Penelope pulled on us both. He thinks on it for a moment and shakes his head.
"So how are we gonna do this?" he asks, and I really thought he was going to back out. So I don't have an actual answer.
"Well, I uh, I haven't really given a plan much thought. How about I come over and start working on some of the stuff you want digitized like Garcia mentioned and I can use the time to give you the footnotes on my life?" I suggest, at least that would make it easier to knock things out all at once. Rather than having to spend even more of my free time with Reid than necessary. He looks content with the improvised plan.
"Alright, sounds good." he undoes his seatbelt and opens the door to hop out of the car before turning back to me, "Are you coming inside or what?"

Itadori Yuji/Fushiguro Megumi pairing | Squid Game AU | Rated T | warning: implied character death | ANGST
( yes, writing instead of doing school lol, squid game ruined me so if you want to read this then be warned of SQUID GAME SPOILERS. There's no graphic death, but its sad as hell either way TT)
---
“The player who takes all ten marbles from your partner wins.”
Megumi had always kept to himself, never saying anything unless spoken to, never stuck to groups, and never took the choice to attach himself to something. Everything had an expiration date. Unnecessary things like friendships had never appealed to him. He only needed his sister, and it wasn’t like she had the choice to have him as her brother. But the fact that she still stuck around caring for him until she worked herself to a coma.
So honestly, it’s a surprise why he feels his heart drop when the announcement tells him he has to go against … whatever 310 is to him.
He hardly knows 310, and doesn't know anything about his life actually. Other than that he’s crazy strong, has an impressive pain tolerance, but also the loudest kid he’s ever met. He's always around him, sticking to Megumi like a persistent piece of gum stuck to his shoe. But he doesn't dislike him, but he can't say he's thrilled with him either.
But would Megumi kill him?
Stupid, he tells himself.
“Oh, fuck, I honestly didn’t see that coming,” 310 says with a grimace, looking at Megumi guiltily as if he was the cause of Megumi’s inner turmoil. He sits down on one of the stone benches. The whole setup was supposed to mimic a typical neighborhood, something Megumi wasn’t fortunate enough to grow up in. The bastards even made the effort to add in the sounds of cicadas from the fake trees, as if this was a completely normal summer for a couple of teens.
Megumi doesn’t say anything, he feels dizzy. He drops down to the bench, away from 310 as possible.
“I’ve always wanted to say this,” 310 says as he rests his elbows on his knees, looking at Megumi seriously, “This whole thing reminds me of Hunger Games.”
Megumi looks at him with furrowed brows.
“You know, Jennifer Lawrence?” 310 pushes. Megumi says nothing. “...Tall girl, big ass? The one with the arrows?”
“Can you shut the fuck up,” Megumi deadpans, then he shakes his head. He takes a deep breath, letting it out slowly. He counts to ten, then glances down at his hand. 10 marbles. “Just tell me how to play this game.”
“I don’t know either,” 310 admits, sounding sheepish. He shrugs carelessly, “This is more of the games my gramps used to play, but he was too busy being sick to teach me though.”
Megumi looks up at 310. He looks tired, but nostalgic. Like he was thinking of a good memory.
310 perks up, grinning at Megumi brightly, “though they said that we can make our own rules. I’ll think of something.”
Megumi nods solemnly. The silence stretches until 310 lets out an ‘aha!’.
“Let’s bet everything and just play one around,” 310 says, even dropping his fist down onto his hand as if it were the best idea ever.
Megumi freezes, staring at 310, was he going to trick him? He doesn’t even know him. They’re not friends. Of course, everything still is a death tournament at the end of the day.
310 seems to pick up Megumi’s reluctance, he jerks his head to the side. He points towards the pair of men competing against each other, looking frantic and panicked.Their faces are sheened with sweat, t-shirts drenched in sweat. It’s… it’s a pathetic sight.
“Fine,” Megumi relents. “What are we playing?”
“Calm down,” 310 chuckles, “are you that excited to kill me?”
Megumi stays quiet.
“We have a lot of time left,” 310 says breezily, pointing towards the timer mounted on the wall. “Let’s do it at the last minute.”
“What do you suggest we do till then?” Megumi asks with a scowl. “Sit nice and pretty, twiddle our thumbs and shove these marbles up our asses?”
“Jesus, man,” 310 laughs, “no just… talk.”
“Talk,” Megumi repeats.
“Talk,” 310 smiles, looking down at his hands. Megumi looks at them too. He remembers the hard calluses on them, when they shook hands. They’re thick and sturdy, and hold a lot of power. He really could have killed Megumi before, just wrap his hands around his neck and it’s all over.
Megumi also shakes away the filthy thoughts of what else those hands could do. Get a grip, Fushiguro.
“Things we couldn’t tell other people,” 310 says, smiling wistfully. “One of us is going to die here anyways.”
Megumi swallows the lump in his throat.
310 smiles wider. He’s always smiling, Megumi notes.
“There’s no reason to feel embarrassed if that’s the case,” 310 tells him, “I promise I won’t laugh when you blush like a tomato.”
“I don’t,” Megumi denies, but he can feel the heat already rising up to his cheeks.
“You do,” 310 says, “but I think it’s cute.”
Cute.
“So, uh, you have someone back home then?” 310 asks.
“Yeah,” Megumi says.
“...like a girlfriend or something?”
“Sister,” Megumi says quickly, “no...never a girlfriend. Impossible for me.”
“Ah, okay,” 310 says, nodding. “Just your sister?”
“I had a dad, but he … never came back.” Megumi confesses, “he was a shitty dad. He was never really home, but he gave us shelter and food. He had a bad temper, but he never hit us. He never liked to be around me especially. I … used to think he hated me.”
“What changed?” 310 asked.
“I… I became him. I understand why he did what he did,” Megumi says, fiddling with the sleeves of his jacket. “Doing dirty jobs, stealing, never at home. Hiding from danger. Hiding us from danger. Protection.”
310 nodded, he slid closer to Megumi. Thighs brushing. Silence continues.
“He came here,” Megumi says, looking up at the ceiling. It’s painted a pink-orange gradient, like a sunset. “I found half of that business card in one of his jackets. The last two digits were cut off. I dialed every possible number until I got here.”
“For what?” 310 asks.
“Find him,” Megumi says, “punch him. I would have killed him, I think, if I found out that he left us to rot. Then steal all his money to pay for my sister’s medical bills.”
“Oh, she’s sick?”
“Coma,” Megumi clarifies. “Some rich bastard from work hit her on her way home. He got off easy because of money.”
“I see,” 310 says, clenching his fists. “That’s terrible.”
“Yeah,” Megumi says gruffly.
“You’re still getting money though,” 310 says. He doesn’t say but you don’t get your dad back. “What would you do with it?”
Megumi doesn’t even hesitate, “pay for my sister’s medical bills. Buy a nice house for us to live in. A car, if I can.”
“If you can?” 310 says, “where would you drive your car?”
“school,” Megumi says simply. “I would use my car to drive to school.”
310 blinks. “You know, you can do much more with that 40 billion. You really don’t want anything else? Don’t have a destination?”
“I’d go to Sendai.”
“Wh—Sendai? I’m from Sendai. Are you kidding me? Are you going to drive there with a shiny new Toyota Yaris?”
Megumi blushes furiously, “enough about me, ugh, it’s your turn anyways.”
310 shakes his head, but he’s giggling like a schoolgirl. “You really have to think bigger. Have you ever been to the beach?”
“No,” Megumi says.
“You should, one that’s got nice soft sand and blue water. With palm trees too. And you should get piña coladas.”
“What?”
“C’mon man, you don’t get to be frugal with 40 billion. I’ll teach you how to splurge once we get out—”
Ah.
“Right,” 310 breathes out, laughing to himself all silly. “Only one of us leaves.”
Megumi grunts.
Silence.
“...Ever seen a dead body?” 310 asks.
“...I’ve been answering all these questions. You haven’t answered at all,” Megumi points out, feeling far too exposed for running his mouth.
“Ah you’re right! Uh, I don’t have anyone.”
“But your grandfather—”
“He’s dead. For a while now. My mom and dad. Also dead. My brother is on the run. He’s, uh, killed a lot of people. He got the death penalty, so yeah, haven’t really seen him around.”
Megumi looks at him.
“I don’t think he counts,” 310 says, scratching his face. Megumi realizes the scars on his face aren’t from the previous games. They looked healed, puckered and faded from time.“He looks a lot like me, though. A lot of people can’t tell us apart. He hated that. He’s only a bit taller than me, and he loves to brag about it. He has a huge ego.”
“I see.”
“Yeah,” 310 says, but he doesn’t look awkward about it. Just mildly inconvenienced. “Oh, have we really been talking for that long?”
Megumi looks at the time. They have less than 2 minutes.
310 stands up, swiping the dirt off his pants. He pats around for his marbles. “Okay, so you see that wall over there?”
Megumi nods mutely. It’s quite far, maybe around 2 meters.
“Okay, we throw one marble, and the one closest to the wall wins, okay?”
“Okay.” Megumi nods, easy enough.
“Okay, you go first.”
Megumi scowls.
“added rule, we do it together,” he says, jaw clenched.
“Eh?” 310 looks at him, confused.
“I’ve been doing things first, so it seems rather fair if we do it at the same time, with our best effort, okay? I have the blue marble, you get the red one.”
“... okay.”
“Don’t give me a weak ass toss, alright, that doesn’t count,” Megumi says gruffly, narrowing his eyes at him. “Do your best.”
310 nods, giving him a thumbs up. “Okay!”
“On three,” Megumi says.
“Okay!”
“Three.”
“Two,” 310 continues, positioning his arm.
“One,” Megumi does the same.
They both throw their marbles. Megumi’s heart leaps out of its chest as he watches his marble in the air.
Clack!
Clack!
Clack!
Megumi looks down on the marble that lands right next to his shoe.
It’s red.
“Ahh, shoot, I threw it too hard,” 310 says with a pout.
Megumi sees red.
He shoves 310 against the wall. “Are you fucking with me?”
“Whoa! No, you won f-fair and square, man,” 310 stutters. “I did my best shot, like you said!”
“Any idiot would know that shit would bounce right back if you threw it like that!”
310 laughs, “I must be some one of a kind idiot, then.”
Megumi shoves him further into the wall. “I’m gonna fucking kill you.”
“You can’t kill me if I’m gonna be dead anyways.”
“THEN I’LL KILL YOU IF YOU DIE.”
“See, that doesn’t really make sense—”
“Shut the fuck up! Why did you do that?!”
310 slumps against the wall, body lax. Not looking at him.
“Answer me!”
“You… you have a lot more to live for than me,” 310 says quietly. He looks up at Megumi, tears in his eyes, “what kind of asshole would I be to deny you for a life?”
“You have a life!” Megumi snaps.
“I don’t, not anymore,” 310 sobs, a wobbly smile on his face. “Before my grandfather died, he told me that I should help others. That when it was my time to go, I would die surrounded by others and not end up like him.
“I should use my strength to help others, that’s what I’ve been doing here. Out there, no one wants me to help them. No one wants the face of a killer to help them. No one wants me to be around them. I can’t go to places, I’ve… I’ve always hated what Sukuna did to me. Made me carry his sins, his crimes. The way people looked at me as if I was him. I can’t move forward, not like you.
“I… I never went to school either, y’know. Or I never graduated. When Sukuna became a wanted man, I became a target. I stayed in my room. The doors were locked. The curtains were always down. It was like this for years. I received no support. The only way I could get by was doing interviews with journalists, feeding the narrative. Making people hate Sukuna more, making them hate me more. That’s no way to live.”
Megumi felt the back of his eyes burn, his teeth aching from being clenched too tight.
“Even if...I had the money. I can’t erase what my brother did. I can’t erase my existence in the world. I would just keep doing the same thing everyday. I don’t… I don’t want a bigger house, not when it’s just me who lives there.”
“You and I are not so different,” he says, looking up at Megumi.. “I think that’s why… I want you to win. You get to experience all these normal things, and feel… happy. You have a chance.”
Megumi wipes his eyes harshly, “Shit.”
“That’s true.”
“... What’s your name?” Megumi asks.
“Itadori Yuji,” 310—no, Yuji says. “My name is Itadori Yuji.”
Megumi takes a shaky breath, he raises his hand for him. “Fushiguro Megumi.”
Yuji grins, he clasps his hand onto Megumi’s. “That means blessing, right?”
“I don’t fucking know.”
“I’m glad then, Megumi. That I’m friends with you even through this hell. That itself is a blessing in a disguise.”
“Shut up,” Megumi punches his shoulder.
A guard suddenly arrives, carrying a gun in his hand. Waiting.
Yuji looks behind Megumi’s head. “Ah, I wish we had more time.”
Megumi bites his lip. “I wish I’d… met you sooner. I don't know anything about you.”
Yuji jaw drops, “Okay, I’ll … summarize this in ten seconds! I’m twenty-years-old, my favorite color is green, my favorite manga is Bleach, my type is tall people with big butts! Uhh, I really like watching action films—”
“Not … whatever, nevermind,” Megumi says softly as he listens to Yuji ramble on about himself.
Yuji pauses from his ramble looking winded, “uhm, Fushiguro, can I hug you?”
Megumi freezes.
“I just haven’t had a hug in a long time—” Yuji trails off before he gets cut off with Fushiguro hugging him desperately, clinging to him.
“Idiot, idiot, idiot!”
“...Hey, Fushiguro Megumi, live a long life, okay?”
Megumi lets go.
He turns around.
Eyes burning as he stares unblinking down the path. Footsteps. Silence. Breathing. He feels something salty on his lips when he licks them. It's not sweat.
He... he got attached. He stares forward, he doesn't regret it. Not at all. He got to know Yuji Itadori, the real him, and the pain in his heart is the best he can give back. A reminder that he was more than what people saw him. Yuji Itadori didn't deserve what the world gave him, they did not deserve his cries. The fact that... no one would shed a tear for him.
...Ah.
Megumi notices the dark wet spots on the dirt.
“Thanks for playing with me.”
