The Quadratum being planned since day 1 is So Much more important than you think:

Everyone knows the creator of Kingdom Hearts has always planned for things ahead of time but for something that was recently added at the final game to be thought of since the beginning is even crazier. It would make sense to be thought of around kh2 or BBS and have plans for it, but this early is actually very interesting.

And there are so many hints and things that could relate to this.

For example the unreality being stated in regards to the world that never was. Ansem often used the terms unreality and fictional world in reference to things, however, people just assumed it had to do with The World That Never Was for the most part.

Xehanort did create TWTNW from a memory of another world and TWTNW was never an actual place or city. It's probably why the sea salt trio along with the other nobodies were often in Twilight Town. The other world could be quadratum.

That is in KH2, but let's take a look at the very first game.

The first game has the opening line, I've been having these weird thoughts lately. Like is any of this for real or not?

Alone the line could refer to the being in a world that makes actually be fake. However knowing that Yozora also says this line at the end of Re:Mind and that the quadratum was thought of since day one makes it so much more important.

This line refers to quadratum or Sora's world. Quadratum is said to be a fictional world but what if Sora's world was like that instead because from Sora's perspective Quadratum is fiction.

Now when taking a lot at the beta trailer of kh1, there are a lot of lines that relate to kh3 and beyond.

First we have the opening quote which I already discussed, then we have "Your body, your soul, your whole existence.. they're all going to disappear." This refers to Sora going to quadratum at the end of kh3, this hint being planned at the start is just something else.

Next is another line about saving Sora and Sora leaving and we have to question why. There could have just been random lines but with the knowledge of Yozora and Quadratum being there since the beginning it's mostly likely having to do with that.

Now in the secret ending of KH1, we have a moment where phrases pop up and one of them is A world between= forgotten world The gathering and if TWTNW actually has to do with Quadratum instead it would makes sense for it to be a forgotten world from a memory of Quadratum that Xehanort had. The opening of kh2 A far off memory that is like a scattered dream. Xehanort had a dream and wanted to change the world where he would have 13 lives to fix it and a 14th to finally see the world — the world where he saw was quadratum, also there is a possibility another version of Xehanort lives in Quadratum

And finally I recently saw a part of the KH1 Ultimania where there is a statement from Tetsuya Nomura that the words that appear in the opening was originally going to be said by a certain character.

Now in KH3, Yozora says those exact same lines and a lot of them point to Yozora which is why I have the belief Yozora has been at the beginning for a long time.

And finally the kh3 opening line— They can take your heart. Cut you loose from all you know. But if it's your fate...then every step forward will always be a step closer to home.

If Sora says if it's your fate to be cut from everything you know which refers to going to quadratum. Then he says if that's the fate it will be a step forward to home cause what if being home is actually Quadratum because it's not actually fiction but the KH worlds are fiction.

Since to KH people they know of their worlds but what if Xehanort figured that out. He was researching and studying for awhile after all and Ansem did seem to know of an unreality.

Cause if it's actually the case, and if the real reason they can cross into datascapes such as Tron, Jimminy's Journal and a fake versions such as Twilight Town and Daybreak Town; and because of a book of prophecies that foretold everything which could have been created by someone in Quadratum.

Since Yozora seems to know about this and is going to actually be way more important than some people originally thought. He understands that his world and Quadratum is an unreality which probably means it is another reality and make their world become fake.

There are still so many questions and so many theories that it remains endless, is the KH worlds fiction to them just as Quadratum is a fake reality? Are these hints actual hints that relate to the Quadratum really being there or are they just unsolved questions and theories.

But all we know is that the ideas for Quadratum and Yozora have been ideas since the beginning.

While I would normally try to sneak in something like that, this is just gibberish :) I changed these text bubbles several times bc I couldn’t decide what to put in them but these were also options- the one on the right was directly from the Japanese copy I have of the Ace novel volume 1 lmao. I scrapped the one on the left because I wasn’t sure my way of panicking (shouting shit repeatedly) matched how ace would react.

In the end I figured that since this is from Tage’s perspective, he might not actually be picking up coherent words from Ace’s shouting given the ptsd,,, so I hoped to convey both tage’s mental state and Ace’s panic through the gibberish

Sorry if this is too unrelated or something, but do you have any tips for comic composition? I absolutely adore how you frame everything, from the backgrounds, to the bubble placement, to the way the colors seem to fit together in each panel, and I've always been curious about how you do it

if this is too vague/overcomplicated I understand, I love your work and hope you're doing well <3

Hm... well. Honestly, most of my composition comes from transcribing the animation of residuum that's happening in my head. Which is why, if any of y'all've noticed, residuum is framed a bit like a movie. So if you're looking to do something similar, I'd recommend either studying camera techniques, or watching movie analysis with a focus on camera work. I'm unfortunately a bad person to ask, as a lot of what I do just comes via practice that's turned to instinct.

This is a really good resource on page compositions in general, though I mostly do panel by panel stuff for my own ease:

The background style is actually directly inspired from @meandtheyeehaws, it's fast, easy, and doesn't require too much thought on my part. You spend a lot of time on comics, so you take shortcuts where you're willing to.

Bubble placement... I've noticed that people tend to laser focus on dialogue. So, the dialogue bubbles are how you lead the reader's eyes. They are the very base of the reader's eye path. All this means is that you should just map the eye path you want and then frame everything else around that. Either to bring notice to stuff or to hide something in plain sight.

Honestly, I have no idea for the color thing. It's one of the things I actually wish the comic was better with. All I do is have set color swatches for characters, and do a transparent color mask to the background color. I love to color, but color itself isn't really my strong suit.

SO uh—i'm really picky about fanfiction. like. really really picky.

i dunno why exactly, but i kinda have a hard time reading them right away bc a) i'm not really a shipper and that's most fanfiction i've seen and b) i like when i can really imagine the characters saying and doing whatever it is they're doing.

y'know the whole "he would not fucking say that" meme? lmao that's me, but with fanfics and only to myself. (i know everyone has their niche and i'm not here to police anybody's fun, just curate my own.)

anyway all that to say that i really, really liked this one. a lot. it's canon divergent off of into the spiderverse, and if you can believe it the comic is literally not a spoiler bc it's in the summary of the fic. but if you liked uncle aaron or even just are a sucker for redemption (? ish?) arcs, i think you'd like it! with all the angst and chaos from atsv it's a nice change of pace.

Mahiru seems to desire to take care of people (her goals are likely dictated by society to some degree but I do believe taking care of people is something she enjoys a lot) but she's hurt in T2 and had no one she could take care of. Kotoko may refuse to take care of herself or hurt herself or be badly hurt by someone else and Mahiru, who has already forgiven her, could try to help her. We could have toxic yuri that reflects all of Mahiru's worst qualities. JUST IMAGINE.

I can't do much productively during the heat wave/health issue flare up/etc. like work on my games or anything where I have to sit at the computer/type for long periods of time, BUT.. I did passively sculpt a few tiny foods lol. I wanted to do one of my bigger usual sculptures, but those take so much more time and concentration, I thought something small just to keep my hands busy would be better.. close up photos look kind of weird and blurry from my camera settings or something, but overall they came out okay, especially in person.. Nearly the only reason I ever wanted to buy dolls as a kid was to get my hands on the miniature foods and plates and stuff that came with them, I've always just been obsessed with small versions of things like that, so.. why not make some! lol

six sentences saturday

That night, Shen Wei’s squadron tent is uncomfortably quiet with Yan-wuzhang’s bunk empty beside the door. Shen Wei lies in bed, eyes on the fifth bunk that had belonged to Xiao Four, before the Snake Tribe boy had gotten so badly hurt in a battle that he’d been called home. It’s long since been stripped of bedding. They’d needed the cloth over in the infirmary. The stack of papers Xiao Four had stacked carefully at his bedside is also long gone, letters from his parents and older sister back home that he’d kept. Letters that Xiao Four had let Shen Wei read through once when he’d asked to, just to see what it was like.

from the second draft of the pride fic. drafting ... continues. so slowly, though the quality of what's appearing is kind of a pleasant surprise - the scene i wrote today is much closer (80%?) to a final draft than everything else i've got so far. unfortunately, i've had to scrap the working title completely and i don't know what to call this guy anymore. fortunately, i am hurting my own feelings so so bad while writing this and having an excellent time!
