pleeease give a review for infinity nikki ive been thinking about downloading it but i dont know if i have the space and if its worth it to clear some up for it !!!
as someone who spent HOURS on flash-based dollmakers as a kid, i absolutely love it. the gameplay hits somewhere between dressup game and open-world RPG, in that there's a large botw-like open map to explore, but the express purpose of exploring it is to unlock new clothes for your character. The exploration itself feels very calm and cozy most of the time, with the emphasis being on small collection tasks like fishing, bug-catching, and foraging. again, all of this is specifically to craft new outfits for nikki which you can both coordinate with no limitations to wear in the open world and use in scored styling contests with npcs, some of which reward you with game currency and some of which help you progress the story quests. the only place where i feel the gameplay truly suffers is in combat. you have one attack, and it's a ranged shooter, but there's no aim-assist whatsoever, and the mobile joystick isn't NEARLY sensitive enough to justify this. aiming in combat is one of the most difficult parts of the game, and nikki can only take 5 hits before she dies and has to respawn, making combat decently frustrating. However, there are very few places where combat is strictly necessary in-game, and both of the boss battles i've done so far had hitboxes large enough that it wasn't an issue; it's really in the open world against hordes of smaller enemies that the lack of targeting becomes really frustrating. other than that, though, the controls are fairly well-designed and intuitive, especially if you've played similar games before.
The clothes themselves are the star of the show, of course. I've yet to see a single clothing item in the game that I don't want. there's a good mix of fancy intricate outfit pieces and basics to obtain early-on, and without even touching the gacha you can coordinate some really cute outfits via in-universe boutiques and quests that reward you with clothes. Even the very obviously themed ability outfit sets that you craft early on almost always have a few pieces that are easy to mix and match with, so there's a TON of styling potential even for free players! As for the gacha, it's actually one of the more generous games i've played in terms of rewards and pity systems. My one complaint so far is that the 5-star gacha outfits especially seem to be very accessory-heavy, meaning it's possible to pull shoes, multiple necklaces, gloves, socks, and hairpieces before ever pulling the dress they're very obviously designed around. there is a pity mechanic to prevent this, but it requires you to pull a few too many times before your guarantee imo.
The story is ridiculous in a good way. It kind of reads like a 2000s-era barbie movie to me right now, in the best way possible. there's an amazingly predictable sexy villain, cute little flying creatures that follow you around, and every conflict is, of course, solved via clothes in one way or another. My absolute favorite thing about the writing, though, is how blatantly earnest it all is. at no point does the game poke fun at its own wacky concept or even attempt to make some self-aware joke about it to the player--it plays everything completely straight, and in this aspect it almost feels MORE self-aware. it knows that the kind of person who wants to play a dressup rpg is also the kind of person who does not, under any circumstances whatsoever, want to be questioned or made fun of for their love of fashion or their engagement with that game. It very much feels like the devs know that they're working with primarily girls and young women and a subject matter that those girls and young women are often looked down upon or made fun of for seriously engaging with, and so it promises to engage EXTRA-seriously to make up for that. (side note: there's one point in a story quest where, when asked to make a wish, nikki wishes that all girls never get cramps again. that was when i knew this was a game that knew its audience.) If I wanted to nitpick, i might say that every quest so far has sort of felt like an increasingly ridiculous trading sequence--you learn what you need to do very early on, but you'll always spend several hours of gameplay encountering obstacles and doing other smaller tasks to circumvent those obstacles so you can reach your original goal. this might annoy me more if the game was trying to market itself as a serious RPG, but it seems very self-aware to me, and despite how i'm describing it none of the quests ive played have actually FELT tedious. I think the fact that it's such a wild concept to begin with gives the writers a bit of leeway in how they handle the story quests, and because I as the player am aware i'm playing a dressup game I don't really expect quests to immediately get to the point and let me fight something. I will say that there are certain things that aren't super intuitive especially if you aren't a seasoned gacha rpg player, particularly the features relating to advancing your skills and the styling points of your clothing. though the game does technically explain what you need to do, it doesn't explain the RELEVANCE of the feature, just that it exists, so I had to lose multiple styling contests before I realized i could upgrade my clothing to get higher scores.
The final thing I'll talk about is performance. I'm playing the game on my iphone 13, and the performance is.... not great, i'm ngl. Off the bat, if you play the game on a mobile device, you're going to be getting a HEAVILY scaled-down version of the terrain graphics. all of those screenshots you see online of beautiful terrain full of flowers and particle effects are from ps5s or custom pcs. truthfully, the mobile app looks like a game from 2012 and it will still turn your phone into an incinerator. I've also encountered multiple graphics bugs, some during pivotal scenes, and I get consistent lags when playing for longer than a few hours, likely due to the strain on my phone's hardware. it's also an INSANE battery drain, so i only play when my phone is plugged in. All that being said, the game has been out for less than a week, so visual bugs are inevitable, and the developers have stated that mobile optimization is a priority, so hopefully we'll at the very least no longer have to overheat our devices to play it soon. Also worth noting, from what I've seen the rendering of the CLOTHING doesn't suffer AT ALL on mobile devices. presumably they sacrificed terrain rendering to allow for such beautiful texturing on the clothing itself, which, given that the clothing is the main focus of the game, I can't fault them for. Basically, if you're going to try to run an unreal engine game on your iphone, be aware that it will run like an unreal engine game on an iphone. and prepare yourself to have to let your device cool down every few hours.
tldr: i love the game so far. i'm really excited to keep playing and see where the story goes, and I think they should make more games for girls <3
#asks#infinity nikki#<3 <3 <3#did anyone here ever play style savvy as a kid? it's not the same by any means but in terms of the clothes it very much has the same vibes#in that there's a great balance of basics and complex pieces and an insane amount of styling potential. god i loved style savvy#I barely ever went to my store in that game i'd just buy out the depot over and over so i could make new outfits for my character#OH ALSO other note: I really appreciated that despite being open-world and having so much jump-based platforming the game blatantly refused#to EVER allow for panty-shots no matter what outfit nikki is in. her skirt will not fly up while she's exploring#and when you remove her clothes in the dressup menu she gets a nice tasteful little tank top and shorts set! no oversexualization here <3#again a great example of the game knowing its audience

Trying something newā¦
TF2 mercs with a reader experiencing a panic attack. Gender neutral.
This has Engie, Medic, and Scout, cuz I love those three especially. Not sure if I can do requests, but I could try.
Notes: Iāve never had the pleasure of actually playing the game because my technology is very limited (one dayā¦), but I love the characters. If my writing for the mechanics is wack, thatās why.
I also know it would be hard to have a panic disorder and be a mercenary, but I feel like it could still happen sometimes. Theyāre still human.
Warnings: descriptions of panic attacks and other mental health ailments that may be associated with them, including dissociation, hyperventilation, insomnia, and hallucinations.
Engineer:
-You had been forced into a corner. Inching closer and closer to respawn by the second.
-How many more hits could you take? You werenāt sure. But you didnāt want to go through that againā¦it had happened so many timesā¦maybe you truly were losing your touch.
-The breath hitched in your throat, and tears threatened to spill down your face. Pleaseā¦please just leave me aloneā¦!
-A voice crooned from just behind him. The sadistic grin was wiped off your attackerās face as he received a bright bolt of light to the back of his head, slumping over with a thud.
- āThatās just about enough aā that, son.ā Engineer, with the Short Circuit still smoking, looked down at you. āAhā¦ā Even with his eyes covered by his goggles, you could see the pleased smirk drop immediately as he retracted the weapon.
-Maybe it was the visible concern, maybe it was the fact that you didnāt have to be in fight or flight anymore, but the dam broke. You couldnāt breathe, every attempt at getting air came out in sharp gasps, audibly sobbing.
-āCāmere, darlināā¦how bad did he getchaā¦ Whoaāā
-You clamped your arms around him when he went to help you up, holding for dear life as your face quickly became slick with tears. āT-too closeā¦I, I almostā¦oh my goshā¦ā
-Engie went rigid for a moment, clearly not expecting the sudden grasp, not knowing what to do.
-Machines, those he knew how to fix. But to find one of his closest teammates broken down crying in his arms, shaking like a leafā¦ how could he fix that? Could heā¦? Surely, surely he could. He would. That was his job!
-Slowly, warmly, two strong arms wrapped around you, stroking your shoulder with his thumb.
-āNow, now, honeyā¦donāt you cry, I got āem for ya. And if anyone lays another finger on ya, theyāre gettinā a wrench to the dome, hear me?ā You nodded quick, curling your head into his shoulder.
-āLetās get you outta here, weāll find the doc together, patch you up. Up ya goā¦ā
-Assuming you didnāt start walking by yourself, he did his best to smoothly transfer you out of the embrace and into a close carry.
-You still struggled to catch your breath, and as he picked his pace up, you rested your head against his chest.
-Feeling his voice reverberate, you heard him humming the song heād been softly singing the other night. The same one you had fallen asleep to. Trying to soothe you, in his own sort of way.
Medic
-Burning. Burning all over. Thatās all you remember. Youād dropped your guardā¦there was just a Pyro and a Scout left, and youād ended up completely burned.
-As you were brought back, you found that you couldnāt stand.
-Medic hurried up to you as you dropped to your knees, MediGun in hand. āAh, wunderbar (wonderful)! I have saved a charge just for you, letās go finishāoh. (Y/N), was ist los (whatās the matter)???ā
-You grasped at your arms, your legs, you swore you could still feel the flames licking at you. Your breathing sped up, feeling your heart pounding in your ears.
-Medic may have had his license revoked, but he still knew exactly what this was.
-As you tried to get up and listen to what he had been telling you to do, he immediately stood in front of you. āNein, I cannot in good conscience let you go back out right now. Bitte (please), (Y/N), sit down.ā
-Plunking yourself right back down on the floor, you fought hard against the tightness that was forming in your throat. āThatā¦that freaking suckedā¦ā
-āI know that it did.ā Out of the corner of your eye, you saw him moving to put an arm around your shoulder, giving you a moment to back away if you needed to.
-He seemed surprised when you instead leaned against him, trying your best to keep yourself together.
-āOh! ā¦ah, Liebe, that is not one you recover from quickly. Sit stillā¦itās okay.ā
-The doctor reached over and softly ruffled your hair, his touch surprisingly gentle. A few tears escaped your eyes, but you were beginning to catch your breath again.
-āI know I was a bit strict, butā¦sending you out like this could easily get you killed againā¦and we do not want that.ā
-Medic stared daggers towards the direction of the scent of smoke. How dare they set you ablaze. Heād make sure to take them out in piecesā¦
-The thought of bloodshed nearly drove him to his feet, almost hungry for it, but as he looked at you, he dropped his shoulders. We can get revenge later. They need me right now.
-āLiebe, listen. Donāt work so hard, alright? Itās no good for your heartā¦ There will be hell to pay for thatā¦for now though...stay here. And Iāll stay too, if it helps. I just healed everyone, I think theyāll be good.ā
-You glanced up at him. āAre you comfortable like this?ā He rolled his eyes wearily, but chuckled.
-āMe? Iām just fine.ā
Scout
-The enemy Spy had been absolutely unrelenting for the last few days. Nowhere was safe. Nowhere at all.
-You were so anxious about going back to that the next day that it was even beginning to mess with your sleep. You swear you saw shadows moving, eyes in the darkā¦the lack of sleep only made it worse.
-Every encounter with that menace ran through your mind, playing on repeat as you stared at the ceiling. Finally, you decided to give up on sleep and go back downstairs.
-Upon seeing a shadow standing in the darkness, you couldnāt help but stumble backwards with a gasp, fumbling for a weapon that wasnāt anywhere near you.
-āWhoa! Hey pal, whatcha doinā up right now?ā
-The voice was clearly that of the Scoutā¦or maybe that was what he wanted you to think.
-Unable to catch your breath, you ended up with your back to a wall, hands up in front of you in a panic. You saw Scout through your fingersāand quickly-accumulating tears at the corners of your vision. He lookedā¦worried. Extremely so.
-Scout was confused, not atypical for him. But why were they so afraid? He hadnāt been too loud, had he? āā¦(Y/N)ā¦itās me, Scout. Jeremy. Yaā¦ya donāt gotta be scared. Iām sorryā¦didnāt mean ta scare ya.ā
-Your hands visibly shook as you looked at him, desperately searching for some sign that could tell you if this was real or fake. āā¦youāre the real oneā¦?ā
-Oh. They were scared about the Spyā¦that scared? Heād noticed theyād been acting way different.
-āItās the real me, (Y/N). Aināt no freakinā Spy gettinā in here with me around. Iād never lie to ya, so pleaseā¦ā
-Somehow this did the trick. You fell apart, crying into your hands, which were cold and clammy at this point, ashamed of your own fear. āIām sorry! ā¦Iām sorryā¦ā
-āHeyā¦itās okay, I gotchaā¦ā Scout knelt down in front of them, holding his empty hands out. Maybe if they see Iām not armed, itāll help?
-You felt a gentle tap on your knee. Pulling one hand back, you found Scout holding his own out to you. āCāmere a sec.ā
-Taking his hand, his fingers carefully intertwined with yours. You could feel the roughness around his palm from the constant grip on his bat.
-His eyes were bright, even in the dark. āThat Spy? Heās a wuss, ya hear me? All talk. And next time we go up against him, weāre gonna send him back to his base pissinā himself and cryinā for his ma, cuz nobody messes with us, right?ā
-You couldnāt help but crack a smile as he tried to rally you, in the carefree cocky way he always did. āY-yeahā¦thatās right.ā
-āYou know it! Weāll win, we always do! And if he gets anywhere near you, Iāll whack his frigginā lights out, so donāt you worry, doll! Not out thereā¦and not here.ā
-With this, he pulled you in by the hand and wrapped his arms around you, giving you a firm pat on the back. āYou know Iād never let anybody hurt ya, right?ā
-āY-yeahā¦thank you. Sorry I got so scared.ā
āDonāt gotta apologize for nothinā. Heās a creep, I donāt blame ya. But thatās all he is.ā
-Your eyelids were now growing heavy, and a quiet yawn interrupted the conversation.
-āSleep, (Y/N). Iām right here. Aināt nothinā gonna touch ya with me here.ā

idk if this is the question box )scratching my head) but thank you for translating that interesting tidbit about the ink tank! It had me thinking.. How is the ink refilled in their tank? I kind of assumed a tube was connected somehow to their sacs like an iv lol.. I think im actually lost on how the mechanisms of the inktank work for the inkfish. Ik this game's logic and biology isnt meant to be taken apart like this though it's fun to ponder bout it. Id love to hear your thoughts! Thank you kindly
I'd definitely give this post a read as to why the "ink tank drains ink from the inkling" idea doesn't make a whole lot of sense. all we really have in terms of words from the devs is that the weapons are not hooked up to the ink tank and that ink comes from the wrist. it seems like itd be pointless strain on the inkling to drain more of their ink into the tank... which they would swallow back into their ink sac?
I think the way the ink tank is filled is just as simple as it being filled from the pressure of outside ink going into the tank, like putting an open bottle underwater. this would explain why your tank refills very fast when going under the ink. in the case of hi-tech turf war tanks, the flow of ink into the tank could be more controlled, and have filters to keep it clean. The speed that outside ink flows into the tank depends on your ink recovery ability. (I think abilities are like digital tags that interact with the ink tank) Limited ink challenges would just be disabling the function of the ink tank that allows it to take in ink from the outside.
As for agent 3, their ink tank is literally just a soda bottle held with rubber bands. refilling it could just be like. opening up the cap a bit or poking a hole. maybe cleanliness is less of an issue since this homemade tank is just for their scrap hunting adventures where they would just be swimming through and taking in their own ink, rather than playing a team sport that involves using ink that others have used. Also with how an ink tank THIS low-tech can exist, as well as how turf wars started out as a back-alley street sport played by kids, and how many thick items of clothing you can wear, that also pushes me away from the idea of ink tanks requiring medical equipment like needles and tubes directly into the ink sac through the back (though this was what i initially imagined too) Unfortunately, No matter if you view it as inkling->tank->weapon, or tank->inkling->weapon, or how the ink goes in or whatever, there's gonna be contradictions somewhere. i feel like these things have not been thought about in depth on the developer side, or at least are not wholly reflected in game, like how some of the visuals seem to point towards that it's inkling->tank->weapon somehow, like the way the ink tank passively refills when you stand. but I'm going to chalk that up to being a gameplay thing. Because after all, gameplay takes priority and Splatoon Is A Game, and this leads to things like subs and specials coming from seemingly nowhere. (I don't recommend thinking too hard about how a realistic in-universe turf war would work, unless you like headaches)
...Final note, the ink tank needing to drain from the ink sac to function also is a problem for say, if a non-inkfish wanted to play ink based sports, which is mentioned to be a Thing that happens in-universe. Since non inkfish dont die in water and can't respawn, i belive they'd have to play under a different ruleset.... for those who cant produce ink on their own, I think it'd make sense for them to play with the ink tank hooked up directly to the weapon.
#asks#splatoon#splatoon headcanon#inklings#octolings#biology#this is not an invite to come into my ask box about how in-universe turf wars work i have thought about it too much#and i dont like thinking about it LOL#well maybe i should share my drone headcanon. anyways.

Okay, 40h in, some stray thoughts:
I keep going back and forth between 'oh it's not really that bad after all' and 'ugh why' basically. Every time there's actually a nice bit of writing etc. the frustration at some other aspect soon takes over.
I'm particularly not fond of the random faceless mook hordes that keep respawning in certain locations (seriously, DA2 was bad enough). Or the dumb pointless boss battles you have to do in order to unlock new areas in the Fade where your reward is... another boss battle. And more faceless mooks. And maybe some gear. And maybe more of Solas's tedious sob story if you're lucky. The ghost of the live co-op thing really keeps quite literally haunting the narrative.
Oh, and there's even a fucking gladiator arena. I'm guessing that was originally for PvP. And now it's just there just in case you didn't already get your fill of combat elsewhere. And wanted to ogle Isabela who now inexplicably wears only a bikini and thigh-high boots. Because apparently that's Rivaini cultural outfit now or something? Some pseudo-Aztec thing? Sure. Whatever.
Honestly, just imagine if they'd put as much time and effort into making sure the story is narratively sound and makes any kind of sense as a sequel to its predecessors as they did into crafting the combat system and the needlessly byzantine combat skill tree. *sigh*
I do really like the new exploration mechanics though. I like that I can strafe on narrow ledges and vault over fences and through windows and such. Not super fond that I can magically just use my absent companions' exploration abilities because of my mystical magical all-powerful MacGuffin, though. Guess some people really don't feel like changing their party composition ever. š
And that's another thing. This game coddles the player way too much to the point of treating us like particularly dense toddlers. Not only are there tons of visual options that basically guide you by the hand and point out everything relevant (all of which I obviously immediately turned off) but the dialogue also will very unsubtly tell you what to do at every turn. Like... Taash, babe, we're both Lords of Fortune, I don't think I need to be told to check out if there's something behind the waterfall. And if someone is so new to RPGs to not know something that basic, they need to discover it for themselves, not have it spelled out to them. Honestly, I thought this game's age limit was 18, not 12.
Speaking of Taash and all things unsubtle... I feel like there was a way to introduce their struggle with gender identity in a less... anvilicious way. And maybe come up with some in-universe lore and terminology instead of just defaulting to modern real-world vocabulary. The codex entry in particular frankly felt like breaking the fourth wall and talking directly to the player. And I say this as someone whose own gender identity is pretty nebulous.
Frankly, I'm surprised someone hasn't already literally told Bellara she has ADHD. Yet. I'm guessing she and Taash are relatable to some players, but to me they feel... vaguely insulting, honestly, because it really is about as subtle as a brick in the face. I'm also getting the vibe they're both someone's self insert to some degree at least. Which isn't new for DA, but... yeah.
What else... Oh. Yeah. The less said about the main plot the better. Varric, this really is your worst book yet.
Speaking of Varric, it's pretty funny how he keeps telling Rook to please get some sleep. Sure, mate, would love to but a) all I get for a bed is apparently a bare divan in a room with a massive glowing aquarium b) every time I try to sleep some smarmy elf keeps mansplaining at me in my dreams. Which, you know, is something I shouldn't have in the first place as a dwarf. Maybe I should just start chugging coffee with Lucanis. (But honestly, only Taash and Davrin get to have actual beds, everyone else has to make do with cots, bedrolls, divans, and... an embalming slate??)
Oh, and I'll be really surprised if Varric survives this story. I mean, he's barely there in the first place and keeps talking like some ailing relative who secretly has consumption in a Victorian novel. I mean, his writer was laid off after all.
The pacing and structure of this game is extremely weird. The beginning was particularly rough, then it got better, but it's still a bit all over the place.
Oh, right. I'm fairly sure we were promised cool bard songs at some point. I haven't heard a single one yet. Unless that one street performer in Treviso strumming Enchanters counts, which I don't believe does. It was nice to hear it, though, as much as it was a bit contextually odd to choose that song in particular. Ah well, I guess Empress of Fire would have been even odder.
This is also the most forgettable Hans Zimmer soundtrack I have heard in my life. I can't think of a single theme or leitmotif off the top of my head, but the Inquisition theme on the other hand was instantly recognizable. I might say he's just new to writing video game soundtracks, but... dude's famous for his highly catchy, recognizable and evocative themes. Weird.
But hey! As much as I don't like the cartoony character models, the game is actually otherwise really pretty and has some really lovely visual designs in environments and architecture etc. It's also very stable and smooth for a brand-new game, I've only had one crash and two obvious bugs so far. That's always a big win for a studio. Too bad its actual problems are too baked in to be fixable with some patches.
Anyway, that's it for now. Lots of negativity, I know, but I actually do like playing this game for the most part. I just have to... not think of it as a Dragon Age, basically. Because for all the bells and whistles, or maybe because of them, it really doesn't feel like one. There are glimpses here and there of a great DA game it could have been, but unfortunately, the final result is a bit of a Frankenstein's monster of different and largely incompatible concepts hastily sewn together.

TMA Team Shooter
What if you played as the various Entities in a TF2/Overwatch-esque shooter? (a lot of these are inspired by my picks in my Team Magnus 2 post.)
The Buried: Despite being a relatively direct fear, I can see the Buried being, like the Engineer, a character based around setting up physical objects, in its case, traps. Might also have a burrowing option. Though I can't see it being particularly fast.
Corruption: Definitely based around damage-over-time/poison effects. Might also be the healer, if there is one.
Dark: Probably the tank/straightforward tough/strong type. Might also be able to inflict some kind of blinded condition.
Desolation: Fire damage. Probably does a lot of area attacks and might be able to destroy structures.
End: I'm thinking the End's gimmick would actually being to do with the respawn mechanic, having the ability to set it's own spawn points. Basically places down Minecraft beds, and "sleeps" in them and then, bam, you can't get the End out of your front lines.
Eye: Definitely an information gathering type, maybe even has a map or something unique to it. Probably has some kind of powerful attack that needs charging up. When you're up against an Eye, it's gonna be over quick, one way or another.
Flesh: Another potential healer. Probably pretty melee focused, might be able to eat somehow, to grow stronger over time. Regen could make sense too.
Hunt: Glass cannon type, fast and hard-hitting. Able to ignore any form of Armor or regen.
Lonely: Probably pretty indirect. Likely gets power from being isolated from the team. Might even be the sniper character, and/or a debuff focused build.
Slaughter: Another damage focused build, likely very built around positioning and specific circumstances, to reflect the Slaughter's usually weak, but occasionally quite strong, nature.
Spiral: Annoying as hell. Few straight damage options, but a teleport (taking the form of opening a door, and hence readable and cancellable.) and able to make illusions of teammates that aren't there. The illusions are generally pretty easy to see through if you focus on them long enough, as they only idle, but during the heat of combat they might be mistaken.
Stranger: Basically Spy TF2. Might in addition have the ability to mimic it's own teammates even those classes that aren't there, to, say, sew paranoia by appearing to be a Spiral.
Vast: Likely long range, tanky, with a flying movement option.
Web: Could be able to actually control other players' movement, but that seems too straightforward. I was actually thinking being able to set up structures and perhaps minions.
Extinction: Saxton Hale style asymmetrical boss, but much more ranged and indirect.
Anyone who knows more about game balance and design should feel free to give suggestions

Having some WC gameplay shower thoughts today about how i would actually make 5 captains work so time for a bit of a ramble.
though before i do ramble i wanted to do some clarification of the different parts of WC. The tag #pikmin wratihs call refers to the entirety of it- the story. When it comes to the theoretical gameplay tho theres 2 (or kinda 3?) different parts. First part is just Olimar and Louie being rescue corps members and generally being pretty similar to Pik 4 gameplay outside no oatchi. Second part follows Olimar, Louie, Alph, Brittany, and Charlie all returning to 404 as corps members with their own ship and the gameplay is pretty original outside the general skeleton of Pikmin gameplay. in between those is a koppai focused story but that would only work if it was a pikmin graphic novel game as there literally is only actual pikmin for about 1 page lmao.
Now then on to how Iv been thinking about making 5 captains work in the 2nd half of WC:
Essentially at the start of every day it starts off in the main ship and you choose how many captains youāre bringing out into the field. More captains the merrier obviously but when you bring one out thereās a major caveat. Each of the 5 captains donāt just do nothing while left behind, they have their own upgrades they develop over the day that theyāre left on the ship! Some projects might take them multiple days but regardless theyāre always working towards something in their own given fields.
Said fields for each goes as following:
Louie: Food! Louie for once actually gets to subject the others to his meals he makes and each one will give a different benefit for the day, starting simple with simply moving faster or having more health, up to his more ambitious meals that can have more extreme changes to the day with their own extreme draw backs (such as a food that makes a day 50% longer but every enemy in the area respawns) He has to perfect and collect the ingredients for said meals though so he needs the off time to do so
Alph: Suit/Gear upgrades. No raw materials required but time and patience is. The suits are only just now custom made since the urgency of this mission was so high and so heās up to the task of gradually upgrading them on the mission.
Brittany: Onion and even Pikmin improvements. Her botany might as well be used to help the little plants that help them and so sheāll work towards safe ways to biologically improve the state of your onion and the pikmin that come out of it (Such as making it passively grow pikmin or even at a higher level, flower a few of the pikmin inside at the start of a new day)
Charlie: Physical training of the captains, basically like puppy point training but itās timed instead. Running, swimming, jumping and hell even pulling things. Dw heāll make the captains who were out for the day pull an all nighter to learn them /j
Olimar iv yet to come up with a good one yet.,. I thought maybe the ship but it would be stupid to force people to wait to go to a new area, especially thinking about my speedrunning chums. Treasure is still all you need for power.
This whole system is basically to encourage people to play with all the characters and really plan out the day ahead. Also a way of making each play through a bit different then the last as you could prioritize upgrading one thing over another.
Now then lastly I just have a few gameplay changes; Spicy spray will still effect all pikmin in play but will not flower them. Instead nectar puddles can be picked up if you so wish and eventually used in one large burst to flower all pikmin out on the field. Ice pikmin are nerfed- they can only freeze an enemy if eaten and otherwise will just slow down an enemy while attacking and have the same pitiful damage as winged pikmin. Purples are technically not nerfed but due to the new mechanic of carrying pikmin around in the pack to go up ledges and stay together easier, they have one downside of being stupid heavy on the captains. 100 carry weight pack can only carry 10 purples due to their weight. Whites now get a buff that will passively poison enemies over time depending on how much were on them and how long.
Thatās all my thoughts atm, always open to questions about mechanics or anything else really. Currently still canāt draw bc of my hand tho so no doodle for ur time <\3

can we please talk about tucker's blood magic in s2? i feel like we need to talk about it because ok.
(put under a cut bc this post discusses self harm which is a huge thing with the blood magic mod)
so mianite s2 is modded minecraft right? right. it has roughly 100 mods in the pack and one of those mods is Blood Magic, a fantasy-esque magic mod in which you can exchange your own blood for things like cool armor, weapons, etc although i dont know the specifics because i don't know too much about it.
the various champions all kind of specialized into their relative mod magic specialties, although most are at least somewhat proficient in all of them- sonja went the thaumcraft route, jordan took tinker's construct, waglington got into ars magica, tucker took blood magic, and tom is basically just interested in whatever can get him the coolest armor/weapons/whatever.
however, what i'm most interested at the moment is the fact that tucker decided to get into blood magic, which is probably one of the most powerful mods on the server, but it comes at a price: the only way you can get the materials required for it is to give yourself damage to take blood, or self-harm. not only that, but you can go too far and kill yourself if you try to take blood that you don't have
i'm just thinking about the implications here both design-wise and headcanon wise. if we go with the idea that scars stick with a player even after they respawn, this means that tucker's arms and thighs etc have got to look like a battlefield by the time he gets the blood armor, and i'm not even a third of the way into the series yet! does it also morph into a coping mechanism down the line as well? how many times does he draw too much blood by accident and run back down to the room where he has everything set up, annoyed and grumbling under his breath? the less blood u have the paler your skin is in general. theres gotta be rumors in the town that tucker's a vampire by now at this point.
not only that, sonja's whole Thing this series basically is thaumcraft, specifically driving back the Taint using Ethereal Blooms, which with my very limited knowledge puts her into the role of healer. does she heal up tucker's cuts often? how much does she worry about the whole blood magic deal, if she worries at all?
theres just Implications here that im thinking about

Thought I might say hello and make some small talk, seeing that I'm camping on your trafficshipping tag and all.
Well hi! Lovely place you've got here. Fantastic art, GREAT vibes, very nice. I'm specially enjoying your character rambling; your takes on them are super interesting and they tickle my brain š
May I send Divorce Fource/Quartet and Majorwood for the shipping bingo? Divorce Fource were a right mess (affectionate <3) and a perfect one at that, but I can't help but wonder how the recipe would have turned out if the soul ties were Cleo-Pearl, Martyn-Scott.
Also there is so much potential in Limlife Majorwood for eroguro if you're nasty. Which I am. Time cannibalism, respawning mechanics, birthday time... blender go brrrr š
!!!!!!!
y'all are really enabling my habit of long ass posts huh šš
OK SO first off thankyou so much?? thats so sweet?????? šš i really don't think my character ramblings are anything special, but i like reading other ppls insane takes so i thought i'd provide others with the same š
not to get too into it but i feel like a series like life smp is best enjoyed with your own crazy delulu takes (similar to touhou if anyone heres familiar w/ that fandom). and it makes me kinda sad to see ppl arguing abt whats 'canon' or 'correct' cus that's no fun lol
ANYWAY yeah uh im glad u like the vibes!! :J
TREEBARK
this one first cus chronology. I honestly don't know if there's anything I can say here that hasn't been said before? But yeah they're. tasty. something about martyn waiting the entirety of third life to betray ren and never getting the chance and now longing to have him back. lots of regret but regret. for what. yknow. and ren always looking out for martyn even from a distance. and then martyn losing that connection in limlife.
yeah i can see why people ship lmao
uhh i don't really know what else to write here so have some of my insane ramblings copy+pasted from my shipping doc š
Martyn fancies himself a schemer, someone who's not afraid to play the game the way it's intended. If that means earning a powerful ally's trust only to shatter it then he was going to do it. Only, Martyn's bark is worse than his bite, and every night he spends in lying awake in those soft, warm sheets that Ren had laid out just for him (freshly washed too, he might add. Smelled like sunshine) he wonders if he can do it. He can, of course. (he can't. he won't. he's too soft. soft and useless.) He'd cut his head off already. (he wants to vomit) (this is why no one needs you. wants you. loves you) Who cares about other people anyway? He is the only one who really matters. (the thought of being alone makes him want to cry) Ren, on the other hand, is a capable leader. The definition of loyal and dependable, if not a bit dramatic. He struggles with self-worth, being good enough, useful enough, powerful enough. But to others, he's the opposite, caring and protective of any who would ask for his aid. After all, every citizen deserves to live in safety and comfort, and providing that is what a good King would do. ~ Martyn's not as sneaky as he thinks he is. Ren knows. Ren sees the signs. It's a death game for a reason. But he doesn't let Martyn know. He doesn't even hold it against him. He doesn't see the bloodthirst anymore, only the broken pieces lying underneath. ~ or the King's Hand, it was the thrill of feeling Useful, Powerful, Feared (loved). He was going to miss it after he betrayed him, the high of bloodlust, the smell in the air as he charged into battle. (the way his hands held him so gently) For the King himself, deep down he knew it was never to be. He had met a monster, but he hoped his efforts calmed the storm ever so slightly. On some days, he pretends to forget about the death game entirely and imagines the speech he'd give to retire his Hand. "You don't have to fight anymore," he'd say, "I'll take care of you from now on, I promise. So put the sword down, okay?" But in the end, it was all a fantasy, wasn't it?
^ yes this is so cheesy but so are they.
Cry with me again Smile with me again Scream with me again Sing with me again Dance with me again Talk to me againā¦
"Lower One's Eyes" (Oktavia translyrics)
MAJORWOOD
I think.. I talk too much abt scott seeing as that's who everyone points out when it comes to my headcanons šš but uh i swear everyone else is just as messed up. and martyn is like. just as bad if not worse (if that wasn't made clear from my ramblings before)
anyway uh say it with me rebound š relationship š
i think they're both.. very numb to it all once limlife rolls around. they're just tired and have this mutual understanding and both think they're horrible people. martyn just wants to play the game. scott doesn't even know what he wants anymore.
but ofc, they're both still human and want love and comfort, so they try to seek that from one another. even if it's fake. even if it doesn't matter in the end.
Baby, though I've closed my eyes I know who you pretend I am I know who you pretend I am
Washing Machine Heart (Mitski)
Weāre the Delusioned Victim Cash-in Union Praise to the āloveā that will bring salvation!Ā Two fools singing to a shallow melody Restart, reflation, teleportation Time and again weāre stuck in rotation Circles inside a love without any ending
MKDR (SirHamnet Lyrics)
Scott uses Martyn as a replacement for Jimmy and Martyn uses Scott as a replacement for Ren. they know they dislike eachother (see: all of double life) and that only one of them will make it out alive. but they can't get that love and comfort from anyone else now.
also uhhh eroguro my beloved...... im assuming this is getting brought up cus of my mentions of loving eroguro in the past. and yes to all of that very much i agree. but i do have kind of.. a limit to what i do w/ these characters specifically because of the fandom/ccs (at least publicly). if i ever do decide to share the nastier stuff in my head or go into detail on gore and whatnot i'd probs make a sideblog and tuck it away and maybe block scott and martyn for always somehow showing up on my posts lmao
#asks#ask games#trafficshipping#treebark#majorwood#the 'team BEST/divorce quartet enjoyer' thing in my pinned is just code for#'i will go insane abt any ship involving any of these guys'#i didn't do divorce quartet as a whole soz just cus that would be WAYY TOO LONG Actually šš#and also a lot of it i feel is already covered thru majorwood and zombiewood#but yeah they're so messed up therapy aint helping that situation y'all need lawyers

CK-Chapter 1-the end of freedom
Tw//death threats, kamabo co, cold personality, rider angst
DIFFERENT P.O.V -----
My feet carefully pad along the, surprisingly clean, tiled floor, tapping along the squares as I walk. I think about why they even called me here if I'm already employed. Some kind of post-employment interview or something?
I glance around the space, shocked that almost the entirety of the building is underground. After I finish walking through the huge-ah hallway, I turn the corner only to see ANOTHER coddamn hallway.
āThe fuck,ā I mumble, cursing under my breath, though this time there's an actual door at the end of the hall. The taps of my shoes bounce around the area as if it were an empty gymnasium. That in itself was suspicious, but I chose to go on anyway.
Soon, I reach the door and turn the handle to be met with an office of sorts, with someone seated at a desk in the middle.
āSit.ā They order. Wow, kinda rude for the first time meeting me, jeez. Even so, I sit down, but only on my own accord. The Inkling isnāt identifiable, wearing a mask to supposedly hide their face. Their voice, however, seems very familiar to me... But I can't put my finger on why.
āBefore we start, I need you to sign something.ā They state, before reaching behind themselves and handing me a piece of paper.
āWhatās this?ā I ask, taking it and preparing to read.
āJust a non-disclosure agreement.ā They state with a calm voice, resting their arms on top of one another.
āFor a mechanic's job?ā Okay, this is getting weird. āGive me a second to read.ā
āTake your time.ā They adjust their sleeves.
I carefully read through the paper, my eyes widening at how genuinely messed up the requirements were.
āThe... fuck?ā Iām speechless, quickly realising how stupid I was to ignore that gut feeling out in the hallway. The person across from me seemed perfectly content with it all.
āThis is a joke, right? Thereās a different paper for me?ā I ask, holding my breath.
āNo, Rider. This is the paper youāre meant to sign.ā They calmly say, passing me a pen.
āGo ahead.ā
āThereās no way Iām fucking signing this.ā I stand, enraged. I think of how many people must have signed some kind of messed up paper like this without reading the fine print. āYouāre sick.ā I snarl at them, and they... Sigh?
āYou have to.ā They say, standing from their chair and going to a bookshelf before grabbing something that looks like a phone while theyāre turned away from me.
āIām sorry, Rider. You need to sign the NDA.ā They press something on the phone, and suddenly, without warning, several guns are pointed at me. āOtherwise, Iām going to have to kill you.ā
They turn back around. āWe are out of range of the closest respawn point. If you die here, you will not respawn. Not until you sign.ā Iām taken aback as I try to find a retort.
āWha-ā They quickly cut me off. āDo or say ANYTHING but sign that paper, and youāre gone.ā
They look away for a moment. āI didnāt want to do this, but youāve given me no choice.ā
My heart is racing and my thoughts are running through how messed up of a situation Iāve gotten myself into. Without even thinking, my hand picks up the pen and shakily signs on the dotted line. I donāt know why, Iāve never been afraid of death.
My eyes are all blurry as if I needed glasses, and the person must have done something since the weapons were now gone.
āGood.ā They took the paper and placed it into a filing cabinet. āIāll give you a moment. Iāll be back in 5 minutes to give you a tour.ā They walk around me, open the door, and leave. Not a second later, however, they reopen it. āOh, and donāt try leaving. That would end badly for you.ā
Just like that, they were gone, cruelly leaving me with my thoughts. What in Codās name did I just agree to...? Unsilenceable thoughts run quickly through my head, focusing on any individual one being simply impossible.
Sure enough, they returned after 5 minutes, their bird-shaped mask still firmly plastered to their face.
āStand. We must get going now.ā I stand up and follow them out the door, still taken aback.
As it turns out, while they were out of the room, the surroundings of the entire room had changed, completely out of nowhere. I run through my mind for any explanation. They gigged, snapping me out of my trance. āHahaha! your confusion amuses me. Itās an elevator. One we have to get away from in the next 10 seconds, since itās going to explode.ā
Without a second thought, I ran away from it. It didnāt explode. I look back at the employer, confused once again. āDid I say explode? I meant it would go back up. My mistake.ā I watch as my only way out ascends without me. This fucking guyā
Interrupting my thoughts, they walk over to me. āYou seem speechless. Most new hires are, but I didn't expect that from you, Rider. Now that you canāt leave, I might as well introduce myself.ā
They continue walking, and I have nothing to do but follow as they continue their monologue. āMy name is Cardinal. I am one of the four minds in charge of this place, and my job is getting the new hires trained and ready for work. Youāll meet the other three eventually, but thatās all I need you to know for now.ā
I decided to build my courage back up. What am I doing, anyway? Iām not scared of this pipsqueak, they're so damn tiny.
āWhat is this place for?ā I ask, determined to get answers. They were forcing me here against my will anyway, I deserve answers.
āQuestions later, employee, we need to get you a badge number and radio.ā They said, voice cold as they continued walking.
Wow. Okay, rude... I continue to follow, looking around as I do so. This part of the building seems to span twice the size of a normal Turf War stage. Iām unable to look around properly right now, but perhaps Cardinal will give me some time to later. Maybe Iāll even find a way out of this place.
āOkay, step in front of this machine and do what it says, then Iāll take you to your living quarters.ā Living quarters? What is this, prison? I step up to the machine and read the instructions.
Insert arm... Into hole?
Oh fuck no.
āIs there any other way to do this?ā I turn, asking a question thatāll likely be fruitless, but itās worth a shot.
āI mean, one of my coworkers could, but she doesnāt have the time, or resources for someone unimportant such as yourself.ā They end with a snarky remark. Of course.
I roll my eyes before reluctantly putting my whole arm into the machine. I yelp as I feel a sharp pain, quickly pulling my arm out. āAnd now youāre chipped! Hurray. Letās see here...ā They say, taking a look at the screen.
āHuh... Strange... Wonder what happened to the third one... Oh well!ā Cardinal takes a wristband from the machine, wrapping it around my wrist. āCongratulations, Rider.ā They look up at me as they speak again,
āYou are employee 3.5 this quarter.ā

could i ask for some miscellaneous hels facts in these trying times? :3
Ohh! I wonder what I havenāt said yet because Ecto and I still talk about all of them and I have no clue what yāall know š
How about these? :3
Hex (Oblivion Mumbo Hels) despises being human and often resorts to augmenting himself with his own technology. He finds value and strength in machinery and the human body is quite disgusting! He will simply sit and stare at a plate of food until it grows cold or spoils if heās given one. Chewing and swallowing and digestion- Augh! He hates it so
I like to think a Gealach (Grian Hels) is actually most similar to a Life Series!Grian as opposed to Hermitcraft Grian. And the lil guy sure loves his pranks, of course š
Similar to Gea, Lesion (Original Scar Hels) is most similar to both Tycoon!Scar and Last Lifeās Red Life!Scar
Sic actually has shorter hair now! He doesnāt have the long braid like he used to
The realm/dimension of Hels itself tried to replace Tango before Waltz was considered code-wise a resident of Hels and Tangos Hels at that. This other tango is named Tempo and he is very Creechur and is much like a roach š
Speaking of roach! My Helsknightās name is Roach :) Both referencing his stubborn nature and, yes, Geraltās horse
The districts operate much like a regular government. The Ridge specifically has tight borders and getting in and getting out is difficult. Being run on a dictator-partnership, there is actually propaganda, censoring, and economic rules in place to keep citizens inside the Ridge. Walls surround the district and the people are separated into classes. Hard work is valued and people will work on large projects for Clap or Bach until they quite literally drop. People who used to work in the mines would smuggle others out of the Ridge before the mines were blown up to get rid of Sic and his spiders
Sic probably babies his little spiders, to be honest
Hmmā¦Oh! Sever is a vex because he is a vex clone of Scar meant to be a replacement of Scar for the Vex. Lesion has and will continue to study the vex and worship them just as Scar and Cub did
The vex clone of Cub that was sent with Sever lives in the ridge. Heās worked with Patho (Etho Hels)
Hex has a body farm under his lab. He studies respawn mechanics and can now repeatedly use Oblivionās inconsistencies to create more Mumbo Hels. This is how he creates lives to use to bring him back to life, should he die permanently. Unfortunately this lead to a Mumbo escaping and this is how Odon was created. Odon is uh. Another Mumbo Hels of mine š
Hels when theyāre created go through a brief period of time (different for everyone) where theyāre much like their counterparts or otherwise seem quite innocent. After that period, it kicks in that theyāre Hels and they behind to act out and develop their individual personalities
Vespa did try to take the Dead Islands after he killed Lesion but it failed because of the shrink in his own district- people leaving and his reputation being nearly ruined. If that shrink hadnāt happened, he would currently own the Dead Islands
The Dead Islands is the only district in Hels other than the Depths where citizens use elytra. I would say Vespaās does but only his soldiers can fly to distinguish them from other people
Genuinely, Vespa is a Dickā¢ļø
I have a Biffa Hels named Alpha who used to run the Hills (which at the time were not call the hills) with Vespa. Sever to Vespa now is much like how Vespa was to Alpha
Alphas design is heavily based on Ultron and I just think thatās pretty neat
Hmmmmmmļæ½ļæ½ļæ½.Gea would like the End and The Void. The Void is so kind to him and there are faces in it that recognize him for some reason

I've made like three new life smp posts in a row today, and I'm sorry, but I gotta. I watched more episodes, I'm only doing what I must.
Im just gonna like, chunk a bunch of my trains of thought in a single post and hope for the best, honestly.
Literally Martyn is the best, followed up by Sparrow, but anyway-
I think??? It'd be hilarious if the Colin-y was just. convinced that Martyn was just some fucked up creeper, and that's why they're friendly. Like, they all stay in the mountain, so Martyn shows up, he's vaguely blue, clearly cold, and has fur. Clearly that equals fellow creeper. So they just adopt him into the group, and that's why they all decided to pile into his base. Their new friend cant fit into the old den, so they move into the big new den. Or maybe the cave was their home first and his decision to live there cemented his creeper status. Martyn doesn't know why these particular mobs have just decided to be passive, and he's beginning to think he's never going too.
I also like the idea of Martyn being really new to being a hybrid?? Like he's clearly not used to his powers, sort of, right??? So what if he just like, recently manifested these traits. And even just recently showed up in the area, even. Maybe Sparrow could know him, or something.
If he messes up his timing and unfreezes before he hits the ground, is it gonna be like he shattered?? Just like, breaks into a million pieces right before his respawn, that melt into snowflakes. Think of the potential. Think of the angst. An icesicle shattering upon the earth.
Also, and this concept has been eating me alive, has there been a Snowgrave!Martyn yet, now that he has snow powers. Can anyone point me there?? Because like, with his current lore, a Watcher deciding it wanted to possess one of its fellows, or even just a Winner and snagging up Martyn in its games would be amazing to read about. His power slowly growing as servermates disappear, taking more and more hearts each time,, and he doesn't know why. And then, eventually there's only three. His snow buries someone alive. He feels himself die with them, from maybe his own frost, or the possessed player deciding he's outlived his use and doing away with him. Then there's just one.
Katherine is a human. I have been?? Crawling up the wall since I found out. I haven't even finished her episode. I don't know if she even survives it. I do not care.
So, let's set a background where, obvious exceptions aside, everyone has sort of grown up together, even if maybe distantly. And theyre all different species, with different abilities and needs and instincts.
And Katherine is human. Humans are social. How many traits and habits do you think she'd sort of absorb from everyone.
What if she was like, all the hybrids basic idea of human, and she forgets she's human herself half the time.
I am. Desperate for a fic where Katherine meets Sparrow. Or where everyone sort of knows her, and walk into meeting Sparrow with the idea that he's gonna be similar to her, and thus, similar to them. And just get smacked in the face with how different they are.
Give me a Katherine who's spent so long around people who aren't human that she just doesn't really clock that that's what she is.
Given that new life randomly rolls you an origin,, what's the chances of Sparrow having one already that he's gonna start 'manifesting'. Do you think its a bird. I need him to be a bird. At least once.
What if he dies and to come back as a phoenix or something. That would be so cool??.
What if like, fic wise, nobody's sure if humans are included in the respawn mechanics. If they come back at all. I think that'd be fun to explore. Everyone looking out a bit more for their human servermates. The angst potential of one of them dying and returning under this premise.
Also, and this just occurred to me, the humans are space orcs approach? I'd love to see that in a fic. Sparrow and Katherine just being weird and ridiculous by hybrid standards.

ritchieāsšš ABCs of Horror Movie Marathon!! šš
Horror movie challenge prompted by @quintsmachete
Day Five - E is for Emesis Blue (2023)
I haven't been 'in' the TF2 fandom in years and only have one or two mutuals left from those days, so while I've heard the title in passing, I wasn't even really sure what this was until I saw it listed on a horror movie wiki. Turns out what I thought might've been a popular fic was actually a feature-length horror SFM-- how could I NOT watch it?
The first thing I need to address is that I've seen very few 'serious' videos animated in SFM in my time; a solid 98% of them have been silly as hell, so it took my brain at least ten minutes to adjust to the fact that this is Not a funny joke video. The striking imagery within the first minute or so definitely helped, but it was still a slightly awkward phase that may have hampered the beginning for me.
The voice acting also made for a weird adjusting period. This is entirely a skill issue on my part but it took me a while to get used to the voices for each of the characters as well, ESPECIALLY the Spy's. In fact, at first I thought the Spy and Heavy sounded kinda bad, but they sorta grew on me in the end.
Okay, just one more 'negative' thing before I get to the praise: this movie was loaded with references I didn't understand, but I could *tell* they were meant to be references, so there were moments here and there where I felt like I was missing out. I caught the Dumb and Dumber reference, but my partner pointed out several The Shining references that I only caught two of (I haven't seen The Shining). I feel like I'm gonna have to come back to this movie after watching at least a few others to Get It, but by then I'm not sure if that will really enhance the viewing experience or cheapen it. Only time will tell.
Honestly, I think I'm gonna have to give this a rewatch again regardless, because I want to experience it again but also because I feel like there's still a lot I don't understand. I don't mean that in a negative way at all; it gives me the same feeling I got when I saw Akira, Fight Club, and The Godfather. Like there's too much to digest in one sitting and I need to see it all again to really take it in and appreciate it. I don't know how else to describe it but I promise I only feel this way with movies I really like.
I don't know much about animation or SFM as a software, but if the comments are anything to go by, this movie must have been an absolute nightmare to make, so it gets an extra star for sheer effort alone. What I do know is that this movie is as beautiful as an SFM production can get; the shot composition, lighting and colours are all incredible throughout the entire film, the animation may be the smoothest I've seen from SFM but it's been a while since I've seen a 'serious' one so I don't have much to compare it to. Some of the models were a little inconsistent in style but there's only so many TF2 models to work with, so it's hard to knock it for that.
I've read fics and comics with their own horror spin on the concept of respawn and other game mechanics before, but I think Emesis Blue easily makes the most of it. This really is a solid psychological horror with some brutal and tense scenes, none of which linger for too long. I only felt it begin to drag about an hour in. Overall I was entertained the entire time and can't wait to give this one a rewatch after I see The Shining.
I'm giving this Movie four Regional Indicator Symbol Letter M's out of 5 š² š² š² š² š

Thinking about the games and how did the old builders allow people to respawn? Like itās not just the contestants but also those who just arrived like Lukas so how? I kinda have a few theories:
1) Modified respawn anchors but that requires refuelling every now and then
2) A dollop of admin powers. The old builders obviously donāt have it but somehow they managed to harness a fraction of it to cheat death
3) The world the portal hallway is in allows for respawn and when people enter a certain vicinity of it they respawn at that area. The old builders manage to study and figure out where they would respawn and build around it
4) A command block. Somewhere deep in the place is a command block that allows people who enter itās vicinity to respawn
What do you think?
Oh wow- never expected to receive such an interesting question! Good job, dear Anon.
So, it actually depends on if we're talking about my silly Complex AU or canon. You didn't specify, so I'm gonna do both just to be sure you got the answer you wanted:)
|Canon|
You actually have two good points there: it's either a command block or a natural respawn.
Command block: probably the way developers thought about it. Let's look at it through all the episodes we have! It's pretty obvious Soren either was an Old Builder or at least had some connection to them, since we see his books everywhere, even in Fred's house if I remember correctly! Isa's palace also has Soren's books, but how does it prove anything?
It's rather simple: Soren had an access to all those places and worlds, which means he should've had a flint and steal. No way he found it back in Jesse's world because as we know Portal was unactivated when the main group arrived there.
We all know Harper had a Redstone Heart and Game's Trio had an Atlas, but where could've such powerful items come from? Since Hadrian is aware of what Redstone Heart is, I'm gonna guess they got it when Harper was part of the team. We also know for sure Eversource aka Benedict and White Pumpkin are not something common. Someone had to create it and I doubt Admins did it.
So what? Simple: Soren was an Old Builder or at least had connection with them and he had a command block, which allowed them to experiment with different mechanics and create what they created: Redstone Heart, Atlas, Eversource and White pumpkins.
Which means they probably also messed with spawn system and figure out that you can not only spawn, but also respawn. Next step: they went to the random most common world and set worldspawn at some special coordinates, allowing themselves to built Games.
Natural spawn: that's way easier! As you said, they probably noticed someone respawning and built Games there. I'm gonna take a shot here and say that one of them probably died and respawned, that's the way they figure it! Simple theory but still interesting. Which means Jesse's world also has a respawn somewhere or only a few worlds can have such thing (including Cassie's Rose world since we saw Sparklez alive and I want to believe he did respawn somewhere).
Also interesting theory: maybe each world has it's owns "settings on difficulty": easy, normal, hard and hardcore. Then Jesse's world probably has hardcore turned on, while world where Games are has easy, normal or even hard. But it raises questions like who did this settings, how and ect.
|Complex AU|
If you ever read my posts, you know that in this AU a whole ass God exists.
Mr. Complex and his horrible job!
Their favorite way to get things done is actually simple: "Have this somehow very strong object what does something. What it does? Idk idc figure out yourself."
To avoid lots of spoilers: there are certain spots in each world, where you can actually build a respawn system and it will work! But you need to have a special knowledge of magic that respawn system uses in case to turn it on. Someone from Old Builders have this knowledge and that way theybuilt the system in Games!
No more info because I don't want to spoiler too much.

Team Fortress 2: The World (W.I.P & Preview)
Team Fortress 2 is a game and setting that is wholly unique to me.
When it comes to other games, even those with wacky comedic elements, they at least try to ground themselves in some realm of reality that is established in their setting. Yet, Team Fortress 2 is the one and only game that I know that says, to your face, "fuck reality" and does whatever it wants. And it works.Ā This post sums it up perfectly, but TF2 is the one game where even the GAME MECHANICS are taken into account by the fandom. In what game has the Respawn mechanic ever been considered? There are countless SFMs, fanfics, and drawings that take the Mercs' ability to return from death more seriously than Valve updating their game in the current age.
But if there's one thing I haven't seen done in the fandom, it's fully establishing the setting and expanding on the canon of Team Fortress 2. Now, yes, there are canonical reasons for why the Mercs are shedding blood in the game, and there is a, albeit incomplete, main story comic that further expands upon it. But I haven't seen anyone further examine the lore and try to build upon it. Which, if there are some people who have placed their own personal headcanons about the world of TF2, please send them my way. I'd love to read or hear them (I haven't been in the fandom for a long ass time, so I'm sure I missed a post or two elaborating upon the canon of TF2).
Below the READ MORE will be long lines of text as we go over the origins that lead us to the start of the Mann Wars, What the big corps are & their place in the canon, going over the key players of TF2, the events of Mann VS Machine, and where the Mercs are at now.
In The Beginning, Mann Waged War: The Origins of the Gravel Wars.
Now, while there is aĀ whole comicĀ that goes over the origins of the Gravel Wars and the events that would lead us to MVM, we're going to break this apart, piece by piece.
Zepheniah Mann
The sequence of events would begin with one man, Zepheniah Mann. There's very little detail about Zepheniah, but we know a few things about Zeph. Zepheniah was the original owner of the Mann Co company and sold munitions as far back as 1822. He wasn't alone in running this business as he also has a brother by the name of Silas Mann who assisted with making keys and name tags. At some point, he was associated with Barnabus Hale, Saxton Hale's grandfather (we'll get to the Hale family in a minute), and eventually married a woman by the name of Bette. We don't know much about his wife. The only bit of information we know about Bette is that her maiden name was once Bette nƩe Darling and is the daughter of a man by the name of William Darling esquire.
But from the way Zepheniah spoke of her during the LITERAL BIRTH OF HIS THREE SONS, he was more annoyed and unbothered when she passed after childbirth. He also was just as uncaring about his infant sons as the midwife/nurse that attended Bette expressed confused correction as though Zeph should KNOW that he was expecting 3 sons.
To add to this, Zeph examined his own children as if he were picking livestock from a farm, determining their worth before making the go-ahead to raise them. And the second he saw his third son, who would eventually be known as Gray Mann, he immediately wanted him dead when it was discovered that he not only was the rut of the "litter" but was capable of full speech.
So based on this alone, we can ascertain that Zeph was a complete dick for no reason. We're not given a background check on his personal history, such as how Mann Co. came to be, who was the wife he married, and what could've caused him to be so heartless that he didn't bat an eye when his wife died and became a father. But this is where we can probably fill in some blanks to potentially explain some this.
I'm thinking that perhaps his marriage to Bette was purely professional. Maybe she had money due to her own personal wealth, or she was the daughter to a man with a successful company, and this caught Zeph's eye to marry her so that his affluence would leech off her earnings. And if we're going to bounce off of this theory, then that could explain why Zeph never cared for Bette. He got her riches and had her give birth to his future children, so her usefulness was spent aside from raising his children. The only person Zepheniah had an alright relationship with was Elizabeth, his maidservant. In his Will and the Loose Canon, he calls Elizabeth his "dearest maidservant." And nobody uses such a term, dearest, lightly. Zepheniah valued her very much, their relationship possibly being one of great trust as colleagues, friends, found family, or even lovers. Keep Elizabeth in mind because we'll be coming back to her soon.
Now, considering that Team Fortress 2 is a dark comedy and goes balls to the wall with its humor, I could be looking too deep into this. It could be that Zeph's indifference is played up for laughs. But that's what we're here for, overanalyzing a war dress-up game.
And this is where we'll have to end this section with Zepheniah Mann. Once again, not much we can go off on with Zepheniah other than he's an asshole. His sons, though!
RED VS BLU
From the get-go, these twin brothers HATE each other. In the same comic where we glean a bit of information about their father, Zepheniah Mann, we see both Redmond & Blutarch stink eyeing each other immediately after being conceived. Like their father, we don't know much about what went on before the main events of TF2, but we do know that ever since then, the brothers never got along. But they did love their father. Which I find very interesting.
Once again, Zeph shows utter disinterest in his sons, most likely only seeing them as a means to prolong the family business and nothing else. He quite literally, after assessing them like cattle, says how "They'll do." So, I can imagine how much of a "loving" father Zeph may have been. At best, if we want to throw this man a bone, he was the toughest loving father there could ever be. Or, at worst, he was neglectful and only cared about his sons when it came to teaching them the family business, putting high expectations on both of them.
And considering that children (and people in general) are naturally inclined to be loved, the twins most likely did everything in their power to appeal to their emotionally detached father. This could explain why the Mann brothers were always at each other's neck, wanting to outdo the other in hopes of gaining their father's attention.
In the Catch-Up comic, Saxton Hale describes the brothers as idiots, and he's not too far off with that statement. The Mann brothers convinced their aged father to buy most of all of New Mexico. But what was it that pushed them to make such a move? I neglected to mention this, but the Mann family originally resided in England, and with all their wealth, why move to the U.S.? From the Blood Brothers comic, Redmond confirms that they believe "whoever owns those pits (of gravel) would be a god." That gravel would be able to power steam engines. We're not told WHO or WHERE they got this idea from, but we can assume this is what urged them to convince their father to move to the States and buy up land in New Mexico. Something Zepheniah would never forgive them for doing.
Before we continue, I want to analyze what we know about the brothers individually. Despite Valve favoring the RED team when it comes to backstory, Blutarch is the one that gets the most screen time and info about him. In my opinion, Blutarch is perhaps the more ambitious brother if we're speaking purely of the twins that Zeph chose to not attempt infanticide on.
In Loose Canon, the one who not only approached the Engineers' grandfather, Radigan Conagher, but the Engineer himself (Dell Conagher), is not Redmond, but Blutarch. Blutarch is also the one who initially compiled a group of mercenaries to take the shared gravel-filled land by force from his brother. Blutarch is also the one who proposed a truce so that they could do some old man yaoi mpreg crimes against nature. Hell, the motherfucker even knew where Radigan's blueprints to his life-extender machine were buried (in his grave, mind you). This has me believing that Blutarch was perhaps the second smartest brother of the bunch (Gray Mann being THE smartest of the triplets).
As for Redmond, we don't know what original ideas he came up with to combat his brother. So far, everything that Redmond achieved was because, one, his brother thought it up first, and two, someone else TOLD him about what his brother was planning to do. The only time we see Redmond make any propositions about anything is when he conjures the silly idea to convert gravel into coal and to call his men up to send his brother to hell.
With this in mind, I can imagine if Zepheniah gave a single damn about his kids, Blutarch was perhaps his "preferred" child. At least Blutarch had some minor promise of running his company and preserving the family image. And don't get it twisted, Blutarch is just as much an idiot as Redmond, it was BOTH brothers who convinced their father to purchase land in New Mexico under the impression that the gravel there could be used as a power source. But at least he's ambitious enough to think up wild ideas and find someone to make it a reality.
But despite this, because of the L Zeph took for even listening to his sons, when he was dead & dying, he created a Will. Within this death testimony, he split his profits and heritage among three people. Firstly, his company, Mann Co., would go to his trusted aide, Barnabus Hale. Secondly, his maidservant, Elizabeth, was to inherit all of Zepheniah's wealth that wasn't squandered thanks to his sons' misgivings. But for his sons, they will have to live off the purchased land they convinced their father to buy. Not only that, they would be forced to share the land evenly. Now, reading theĀ Will Zeph left behind, he's exceptionally harsh to his sons, understandably so. And you would think that with such jarring words, this would be their wake-up call to perhaps better themselves and work together. Or, better yet, solemnly accept the reality they're in and grudgingly co-exist across the street from each other in the barren wasteland they now possess.
But, no, the Mann brothers decide this would be a perfect opportunity to fight over useless land. This is where I feel like the brothers are blaming the other for what transpired with their father and family fortune. Once again, both Mann brothers loved their father dearly, perhaps even fighting for Zeph to even acknowledge them in an ok light. So I can imagine their shock and heartbreak when the final words from their father, in his own Will, is how much he despised BOTH Redmond & Blutarch. In Loose Canon, they looked more annoyingly shocked about having to share the purchased land, but who knows what their faces were when the Will was being read in its entirety.
Thus, I believe the war started due to the brothers dealing with the emotional trauma that their father left behind. Neither brother has the guts or brain power to admit that both of them were at fault when it came to the mishandling of their family fortune, nor do they have the capability to accept that their father was an absolute ass. So, they blame the other brother, believing that the land rightfully belongs to them, learning nothing from their own personal experience that their low intelligence and hatred for the other is what got them into this situation to begin with.
With the Gravel Wars finally commencing, Blutarch hires 9 mercenaries to attempt to take his brother's land by force. But, Redmond would get the same idea. Thus, RED VS BLU would become a staple rivalry until the current time in the TF2 universe. As most may remember and know, Blutarch hired famous individuals in history, such as Abe Lincoln, Billy the Kid, Nikola Tesla, John Henry, Davy Crockett, Sigmund Freud, Stonewall Jackson, Alfred Nobel, and Fu Manchu.
I'm NOT going to bother with overanalyzing these characters, considering that most of these characters simply shouldn't exist during the time of the Gravel Wars (1850), and they're clearly placed there for comedic factors. On top of that, we know next to nothing about these mercs (save for Abe Lincoln). If I were to throw myself a bone here, I theorized that the moment they realized that they were fighting a pointless war, the men simply left. I cannot imagine a famous inventor, a president, an infamous outlaw, a general officer, a frontiersman, a chemist, a neurologist, an American folk hero, and a racist stereotype spending more than a year fighting for land that produces nothing in return for 2 idiot men; even if there was money involved.
However, before we get further into the Gravel Wars, there is one person we have to talk about before delving into the situation between BLU VS RED.
Elizabeth, Helen, and TF Industries
It's important to understand where the Administrator and TF Industries come into play when it comes to the lore of TF2. Unfortunately, because the TF2 comics for the main line story haven't been updated since 2017 and the details of TF2 are spotty and vague, there are going to be some questions that we will have to speculate and answer ourselves. To help with this, I highly recommend watchingĀ SkyminSlashĀ &Ā Casperr, both of whom did outstanding jobs analyzing what we know about the Administrator and making this section a whole lot easier to write down. I'm also going to drop these two videos fromĀ Mister DispenserĀ &Ā Richter OvertimeĀ as they not only go into a bit about the Administrator but also put down possible endings to the mainline TF2 comic (which we'll get into later).
When it came to the Administrator and writing this section, it practically made me go insane. I had a difficult time writing up a coherent theory that sounded right to me and plausible enough that it could be possible. However, I believe we can condense this down to three questions that we have to ask to further understand the possible motives behind the Administrator.
Who is the Administrator?
What is it she craved that she would become indebted to someone for it?
Who is she indebted to?
To start us off, who is the Administrator? Well, based on canon, the earliest we know of the Administrator is that she was a young girl...At some point...Yeah, in terms of personal history BEFORE she became the woman we know today, it's still a massive question mark on who she is. We know that the Administrator is named Helen; she smokes a lot, is a master manipulator, has a loyal assistant named Miss Pauling, watches the TF crew from various monitors, and has a hand in the Gravel War. We are aware that way back when she was placed in an old debt that she'd been trying to settle for all her life. From her wording, it sounds like whomever she was indebted to gave her something she greatly desired since she says this:
And this is where we gotta go into the whole Elizabeth and Helen situation, as many noticed a pattern between the two women. The trademark look of the Administrator is that she's elderly, most likely in her 60s-80s, wears purple, has a smoking habit, constant resting bitch face, and has a white streak of hair. These are the core traits of the Administrator we all know and love.
However, two other women in the comics share a striking similar semblance to the Administrator we know today. The maidservant I mentioned a while ago is shown a few times, mainly relating to the Will that Zepheniah left behind, giving the maidservant, Elizabeth, all of his wealth. There was also another woman by the name of Elizabeth who approached Radigan about making life extender machines for Redmond and showing the precious metal, Australium, to him. Now, initially, back in the Loose Canon comic, this other woman who spoke with Radigan wasn't named. It wasn't until 2014 with the Catch-Up comic that Valve confirmed that this other woman who looked similar to Elizabeth AND Helen also shared the same name as Elizabeth.
Both women have been around in different periods of time, the maidservant being around since 1850 (at the earliest) and the other Elizabeth approaching Radigan since 1890. And it is to be assumed that both Elizabeths are the Administrator, Helen. Now, some theories speculate that perhaps the Elizabeths in the comics could be relatives/ancestors of the Helen we see today. And these speculations can have some merit to them, but I prefer seeing the connection between the Elizabeths' and Helen as being one person instead of a family lineage.
I further believe that the Elizabeth's and Helen are the same person because in the comics, between some banter with Saxton Hale & Charles Darling, he expresses how Helen has been alive for well over 150 years (this slightly contradicts with Gray Mann & Miss Pauling rushing to find the 1850 census records, but give me a second, lemme cook). However, this doesn't really tell us much about the Administrator. So she lived for a very long time, most likely through Australium, but what is it about her that she would put herself in such a debt that she has to prolong her life?
Casperr made the suggestion that Helen may be a blood member of the Mann family. Originally, I didn't vibe with this, but there was one thing that kept nagging at me that I started to entertain this theory: the census record. Census records survey the population of a country to determine its population along with details such as an individual's age and current job description. This is often used to plan or adjust healthcare, employment, and education. But it's also used by those who wish to trace back their family lineage. When you look up census records, you will find either websites providing free information about such information or the records being used by genealogists & family history researchers.
When we focus on Miss Pauling and the merc during Unhappy Returns, she specifically asks for "genealogy records." And we know these are the census records that Gray Mann was looking for because when Gray Mann was asking for the records, the mayor of Teufort stated that Miss Pauling was also looking for records that date back to 1850. But why 1850? We do know that Elizabeth gained Zepheniah's wealth and "miracle gravel" once he died, but why look into the possible circumstances of her birth?
This is where I drop the possible theory of Helen/Elizabeth being a Mann daughter.
It will go without saying that Helen/Elizabeth was NOT born exactly in 1822. If we take the 150-year statement Charles Darling informed us of, 150 years from 1972 takes us back to 1822, the exact date the Mann triplets were born. When we look at the family photo where Elizabeth/Helen sat with the Mann family and Barnabus Hale, she already looked exceptionally old. Old enough to consider the Mann brothers her own children or grandchildren since the brothers were 28 when the Will was read to them. Now, considering that Helen/Elizabeth is always shown smoking, perhaps this may have aged her physically as smoking constantly can make someone appear older than they should be. However, to further pin that Elizabeth/Helen was NOT born in 1822, in the same comic, Blood Brothers, the nurse who aided Bette quite literally states that Zepheniah was father to triplets; Redmond, Blutarch, and Gray Mann.
So if Elizabeth/Helen is a possible blood relative to Zepheniah, then he must've had her much earlier in his life. In Blood Brothers, when we first see a alive and young Zeph, we can possibly estimate that he's probably 30-40 years old. So he probably had her a decade or more before the Mann brothers. Now, whether or not Bette would still be considered her mother can be up for speculation. She could be Bette's first child or Zepheniah could've boinked some random woman.
Perhaps Elizabeth/Helen was Bette's first child, but because she was a girl, and considering the era at that time, Zepheniah did not see Elizabeth/Helen as a viable choice to run his company because he wanted a boy. Or perhaps Elizabeth's mother was someone Zeph coupled with before settling on Bette Darling. Whether or not he loved this woman can also be up for debate since we don't know what he was like outside of being a grouch. He could've loved her or only saw her as a means to "put off steam." But when he discovered Elizabeth/Helen was his daughter, he may have offered to ward her, not officially adopting her into his family despite being related to her. That could explain why she's called his maidservant, just so that he could further muddy the familial ties she has with the Mann family.
Remember that question I posed earlier about why Helen & Gray Mann wanted to look for the census records that date back to 1850? I believe that the Administrator changed her name sometime in 1850 once she inherited the "miracle gravel" from Zepheniah and eventually branched away from Redmond & Blutarch.
So we answered the first question about WHO the Administrator is, a possible member of the Mann family. Then what was it that she craved that she was indebted to someone to have it? Now, this was the issue I had when writing this up. Because we have no hints or clues to point to that could tell us any alternative motives the Administrator may have. Initially, I figured that perhaps she may have craved power & wealth. Which, with the theory of her being a potential Mann child, wouldn't be too far-fetched.
Perhaps due to the social climate at the time, Zepheniah denied Helen/Elizabeth the inheritance of his affluence. Helen/Elizabeth could've felt bitter about being left out of the family fortune and even being demoted to being the "maidservant" of the Mann family. On top of that, when the Mann triplets (Redmond, Blutarch, and Gray Mann) were born, she may have started to truly fear her position in the Mann family. Now that Zeph had 3 (technically 2) "reliable" boys in the family, he had someone he could pass the company off should he desire to keep Man Co. traditionally run by a member of the Mann family. Even worse, 2 of the brothers are incompetent, and the other one was taken by eagles.
Furthermore, the only thing Elizabeth has going for her is that Zepheniah has a lot of respect for Elizabeth. But she still worries about her future with the Mann family. What happens when Zepheniah dies? He could easily give his estate and riches to his sons, and considering that she's a maidservant to not just Zeph but the Mann family as a whole, she could be spending the rest of her life under the servitude of her brain-dead (half) brothers. And even IF she decided to leave, that would mean leaving the safety net of wealth that the Mann family provided her.
Leaving means she has to build up her lifestyle, something that would've been difficult for her to do depending on how good and how willing she was to perform certain labors (she was a maidservant, so her skills were most likely cleaning, shopping, cooking, and potentially caring for the Mann children). And not everyone has Mann Co. money; she would be leaving a comfortable life if she wanted to attempt to make it on her own with the limited possibilities women had at that time.
As I said, I initially figured that this would've been a good enough theory to run onā¦But then I thought of another possibility that made more sense in my mind. Mortality.
It's a common theme in the TF2 universe of characters defying their temporality and trying to prolong their own lives. We see this with the Mann brothers, the mainline TF2 comics, Merasmus, Medic's medigun, and many other examples of characters who prolonged their lives to avoid dying. So it wouldn't be too far off the table to think that Helen/Elizabeth simply wanted to live. Perhaps someone close to her got horribly sick, and it scarred the Administrator. Maybe she was terminally ill herself and wanted a way to cure herself. Maybe sickness had nothing to do with her motives; Helen/Elizabeth could've seen how easily life could be snuffed out, and she didn't desire to die. This could be watching a loved one die horribly or peacefully, watching them or herself grow old, or hating her own mortality. Furthermore, as we established, Helen/Elizabeth is often shown smoking; she could've started seeing the ramifications of her chain-smoking when she discovered that she was aging faster (visually) and developing lung cancer.
Either of these two speculations could be valid reasons for why the Administrator would put herself in a lifelong debt in exchange for the above-mentioned.
So, the Administrator may have craved power, wealth, longevity, or a combination of the three; then who is she indebted to, and what is she supposed to pay back?
Now, this is where things get a bit crazy. Based on what we know in canon, there's really no one we can point to that can be a possible candidate to serve as the Administrator's creditor. One could possibly turn to Merasmus since he's a wizard and might have the ability to grant or provide her the means to gain what she desired. However, Merasmus is quite literally a Saturday morning cartoon villain and an incompetent wizard who poses no possible threat to the Administrator that she HAS to pay him back anything. To make my point, more often than not, Merasmus is the one seeking out the TF2 crew for help because he got HIMSELF in debt with the mafia, and he's commonly harassed by the RED Soldier. The same man who tapped cardboard to himself to sneak into a robot base.
We can also rule out the Mann brothers, Redmond & Blutarch, because it's highly apparent that she's manipulating them to achieve whatever hidden goal she has going on. And it's been proven time and time again that the brother's agenda is the Gravel war, woefully ignorant to whatever the Administrator is doing. Gray Mann, we can DEFINITELY rule out because he's actively going against her and made no hints that she owed him anything.
Zepheniah Mann could be a possible contestant since he did have Elizabeth/Helen swear to protect his "miracle gravel" and to keep it away from Gray Mann. I also find it interesting that near the end of his written Will, Zepheniah expresses how he does not wish to die and that "God and His angels will have to drag me screaming to Heaven. I do not want to die." If we were to use Zepheniah Mann as the potential creditor, perhaps Helen/Elizabeth would be trying to resurrect her (possible) father after he granted her his remaining estate and riches. However, there is a problem with this theory.
Firstly, Zepheniah technically resolved his own issue by cursing himself to death. We see this firsthand in his testament AND during the month of October when we play on Harvest, and his ghost gives the Mercs a visiting scare. Now, one could argue that perhaps being dead for so long gives him limitations, such as eating, drinking, and other human senses that one would miss. But basic Ghost 101 would remind you that spectral entities are known for possessing people for personal gain. While we don't see Zepheniah perform this ever in the TF2 universe, I'll be damned if it hasn't occurred to the old bastard to try that trick out once in a while. If Zeph ever wanted to re-experience being human, he could just haunt a person for however long before finally being exorcised or leaving on his own free will.
Secondly, what reason would the Administrator have to indebt herself to Zepheniah? Based on the speculations we made earlier, Zeph coldly demoted her from the family to become a maidservant, blocking Helen/Elizabeth from his wealth. If it wasn't for the misgiving of his sons, who knows if Helen/Elizabeth would've gotten his affluence. And the Administrator doesn't give the air as someone who would do anything out of the kindness of her black coffee heart. Even though Zeph considered Elizabeth as his "dear maidservant" and trusted her dearly, that doesn't mean that Helen/Elizabeth shared the same sentiment. In the Loose Canon comic, we see that on the day that they were going to bury Zepheniah, Helen/Elizabeth is shown smoking and not giving a single fuck during the funeral. She could've still harbored some bitterness toward Zepheniah, and she could've just taken the money she got and not feel any obligation to "repay" Zeph for anything.
On top of that, let's say we shove the whole "wanting riches & power" aspect of the Administrator aside, then how the fuck does "paying Zeph back" help with the possibility that the Administrator wants to avoid death? Sure, she was given his stash of miracle gravel (Australium), but Zeph himself didn't grant her this nigh immortality; the mineral does. She can let the bastard rot in his grave and scavenge all of Australia to get what she wants. Matter of fact, she did EXACTLY that in the same Loose Canon comic when she spoke with Radigan Conagher. And it's not like Zepheniah had any secret powers that we know of-he was just a man who sold munitions to the highest buyer.
And lastly, Zeph isn't a threat worthy of a final comic reveal. I'm certain that there's probably someone out there who can prove me wrong on this, and all power to them, but for me, there's very little about Zepheniah Mann where he's a valid contender to be the creditor to the Administrator's debt. When we look at the last comic, Blood in the Water, we see the Administrator in a state of desperation when she's told that all the Australium is gone. And in that desperation (and acceptance), she opts to use up the last of the Australium to settle this debt within an hour. Those last panels in the second-to-last comic would have us believe that whomever she's indebted to is so intimidating that the Administrator would use up the last of her life and finally end this 150-year-long debt "once and for all." You don't typically see that language used if the threat isn't something substantial. Hell, there was that one document where the Administrator was speaking with the UNITED STATES SENATORS and exposed her secret plan to these men. And it scared them so badly that one of them remarked about having to see their family.
To further add to this, the reason why I believe this creditor is such a massive threat is due to the experience Miss Pauling had when she was dead. As some may remember in the Blood in the Water comic, we start off with Miss Pauling in a deserted, dream-like reality, and she enters a door that leads to the Administrator monitoring herself. After a brief conversation, Miss Pauling is shown practically begging Helen to come forward about her massive plan that she's been working on for years. When Miss Pauling asks what is it that the Administrator wants, we get this iconic panel as the Administrator responds:
Now, I know that many would say that this doesn't prove anything about who her creditor may be because this was just a death-induced dreamā¦Or was it? We know that Heaven and Hell exist, then a Purgatory, an in-between realm, should be a possibility, yes? When we see Miss Pauling in this mysterious place, we see vultures surrounding her body. This is typical behavior of vultures since they are carrion birds. However, when we see vultures surround a character, especially one who isn't dead, it's to signify that the character is close to death. One example I can think of is during The Lion King when Simba is discovered by Timon & Pumba. While the little lion appeared dead, we learn quickly that he was close to death. And, mind you, vultures ONLY eat carrion, creatures that have died, not close to death. In Miss Pauling's case, since the RED Medic was in the process of resuscitating her, the vultures could only surround her since she was going to survive anyway. But, all-in-all, the vultures being in this deserted land could be a hint that Miss Pauling was in Purgatory.
Another case of this possibly being the land between life & death, Heaven & Hell, is the location. Now, when trying to get a tangible idea of how others picture Purgatory, I couldn't get a direct answer since many of the sources I skimmed through kept going into the religious symbolism of Purgatory. However, thanks to Dante's Divine Comedy, it's often described as a mountain or a "rocky hill with separate openings into its hollow center." In other pictures (with a quick Google search, mind you), Purgatory is a mountainous region with a sandy beach at the very bottom, surrounded by water. The mountain is often depicted as having a trail that leads up before it becomes a multi-layered platform like a stacked cake.
When we re-examine where Miss Pauling was located there are no mountains or hills, but we do see a rocky formation nearby. Also, Miss Pauling is placed in a desert area, and many would say that being stranded in the desert is a sentence that only leads to death if not appropriately prepared to face the harsh elements. But one thing that does fit the description of Purgatory is the door that Miss Pauling sees upon waking up in this other realm. A "separate opening," if you will. During my research, I also want to add this little tib-bit. So, the first layer of Purgatory is Ante-Purgatory, which has two terraces that make it up. The first being the ex-communicate, in the context of Dante's Divine Comedy, are individuals who were exiled from the church. However, the second terrace I found interesting. The second terrace are the Late-Repentant. These individuals are described as people who were too consumed by "worldly affairs" to repent for their sins, or they didn't receive their final rites before dying. And wouldn't you agree that both Miss Pauling and the Administrator had "worldly affairs" that they desperately wanted to attend to before dying?
Finally, to cement my point that Miss Pauling AND the Administrator were in a Purgatory-like realm, we see that Miss Pauling awakens from her death sleep thanks to the RED Medic. Shenanigans ensue, and she gets a call from the BLU Engineer. They talk for a moment, but we learn that the Administrator is dead. Fast forward after the TF Crew takes care of business at Gray Mann's island, the BLU Engineer greets the Administrator after tinkering with her Life-Extender machine. It is then that we learn that the Administrator was dead for FOUR HOURS. This means that Miss Pauling having that death "dream," coming back to life, the TF2 finding and killing the TFC Mercs, Scout dying then coming back to life, Medic dying and coming back to life, and all the other shenanigans during Blood in the Water happened within 4 hours or maybe a little before that time limit.
Also, if you just simply read the comic, it pretty much spells it out to you that Miss Pauling and the Administrator might be in a Purgatory-Hell-like realm, soā¦All that speculation was kinda of for nothing.
REGARDLESS! I believe that the Administrator stating that she needs blood and doesn't have enough of it relates to the debt that she's in. If the Administrator requires blood to fulfill her debt, then her creditor must be exceptionally sinister to ask this of the Administrator. And Zepheniah Mann just doesn't cut it as someone who would ask that of the Administrator. So, if not him, then who?
With all of this in mind, one would probably still point a finger at Merasmus. The guy often keeps terrorizing the Mercs, and he does perform rituals of various types. In the Blood Money update comic, he does mention that he obtained the "blood of virgins" by using his own blood, and in Gargoyles and Gravel, the RED Spy details that Merasmus does use blood in his schemes. And while all this would make sense, the TF2 crew are ALWAYS fighting that old man every Halloween. So much so that he's not even a threat to them anymore, as they are just as quick to dismiss him. Hell, in the same comic (Gargoyles and Gravel), the Mercs nearly left Merasmus to his fate if it wasn't for the RED Heavy stepping in because he didn't want to play bootleg D&D. On top of this, despite appearing every Halloween, Miss Pauling, and possibly even the Administrator, didn't even know the guy existed until Gargoyles and Gravel. Which is surprising to me since he comes around EVERY HALLOWEEN. And a person can't be a threat to ya if you don't even acknowledge their existence.
Now, this isn't me saying that it's IMPOSSIBLE for Merasmus to be the reason the Administrator is in debt. Merasmus is 6,000 years old, so it's not implausible for him and Helen/Elizabeth to have met, and the guy knows magic, so if it's riches or immortality she wants, he can provide it. I would probably say that he's the "safest" option. But, with Merasmus' slight incompetence as a wizard and the fact that the Administrator hasn't communicated or even acknowledged the wizard, I'm just gonna put this option in a corner by itself.
But that leaves us stuck with no options. Once again, the Mann brothers are a no-go since the Administrator isn't intimidated by any of them. Zepheniah Mann doesn't qualify due to the above-mentioned. Then, what about Saxton Hale? Well, that's also not an option either. One, it's often shown as a pompous idiot who doesn't give heads or tails about anything but fighting and drinking. He doesn't even respect the Administrator because he has a dedicated barren room with Miss Pauling's name on it. And when informed about the Administrator by Charles Darling, he looks genuinely perplexed when he tells Hale how she lived for 150 years and was planning something big. And I'm not going to bother with his ancestors because Helen/Elizabeth clearly see Australians as, in her words in the Loose Canon comic, "lager-pickled brain."
And at this point, there's really no one else we can look to. There's no one else above the Administrator herself that can pose a possible threat to her in any way. However, I do have a suggestion that might work. I would like to introduce the Unknown Individual. The first time we are even informed that this person exists is when you combine the torn pictures of the Mann family photo. On the left side, we see Redmond Mann, Blutarch Mann, Zepheniah Mann, Elizabeth/Helen, and Barnabus Hale. On the right, we see Silas by his lonesome at a fireplace. When you try to combine the photos, we can see that there's a missing link as a mysterious individual is shown that bridges the photos; preventing it from being 100% complete. All we can ascertain about this individual is that they're wearing some sort of coat. The wiki claims that there might be something being held by the Unknown Individual, but I've analyzed this picture for a while, and I just can't see it. Maybe it's the stylized art, or I'm just dumb.
This is another unfortunate case where we don't know who this person is and what stake they have in the TF2 story as a whole. But, I will bet my ass that this person had something to do with the final comic, and we would've finally gotten confirmation on who they were. We got the same treatment with Gray Mann when they finally revealed the final lines in Zepheniah's Will and showed us the birth certificate, so something similar could've been done for the UI (Unknown Individual). However, because Valve didn't develop this mysterious individual, they are a blank slate for us to do whatever we please. So, who is this Unknown Individual? An eldritch entity, of course.
Now, I'm going to build off this theory from Richter Overtime's video and the possibility that a cosmic entity has the Administrator indebted to it. To give some context, Richter Overtime made a video going over what happened to the final TF2 comic. He briefly goes over the real-life explanations on why we never received the final comic (Because Valve essentially), but he also showcased an anonymous user on 4chan who posted on TF2's V board who "claimed" to have "read the script" for the final comic. Before I continue, let me be the first to say that I am more than skeptical about this individual who supposedly read the script for the final TF2 comic. There's nothing that this anon provides that proves that they have any relation to the game, not even giving us a "I'm a friend to the son of an uncle who works at Valve who also happened to work on the comics for TF2." Now, understandably, if this IS a Valve employee who worked on the comic, revealing company information such as the final comic could be detrimental to their job, so they would want to put as little of themselves out there as possible. HOWEVER, as it stands, we have no concrete credentials that can prove this guy's telling the truth. Also, two, even if this was a "leaked script," I highly doubt it, and, to give it the benefit of the doubt, it's probably a rough draft. But it being a draft doesn't say that it's a finished project. Look no further than GTA 6, a game that was leaked a few years ago, and everybody with no good sense judged the game, even though the game wasn't even in a stage where it was even PLAYABLE.
With that out of the way, let me continue my point. So, in Richter's video, this anonymous person claims that the person whom the Administrator was indebted to was a "cosmic entity or messenger" posing as Abraham Lincoln. And, in my opinion, I vibe with this. Considering that God & Heaven, Satan & Hell, ghosts and aliens exist in this world, I don't think it's too far off to include eldritch horrors in the TF2 universe. I mean, we do have the Bombinomicon, a book that's supposed to be a reference to the Lovecraftian Necronomicon. To add to this, I remember seeing comments on Richter's video that don't like the possible idea of a cosmic entity being the reason why the Administrator is in debt. Here are a few examples that I found in the comment section:
Which, I can understand why most would feel that way. Since TF2 had its world expanded upon, there's been no hint that a higher being is closely watching the Mercs and the TF2 universe as a whole, so throwing in a G-Man-esque character into the mix might seem unoriginal and tacky. However, I don't mind this possible theory; lemme explain why.
Firstly, Valve tends to leave in some of their stories an omnipresent individual who oversees the main protagonist. We all know of the G-Man, an enigmatic and mysterious entity who both helps and hinders the Half-Life characters as they push their own questionable goals. But I think there's a lesser-known "G-Man" type character that some overlook in the Valve games, the Rat Man.
For those who don't remember, back in the first Portal game, there were secret dens that could be found with writings and dioramas on the walls, similar to the rambles and scribbles of a supposed madman. These hidden spaces belonged to an unseeable figure named Doug Rattmann, commonly known as the Rat Man. These images that the Rat Man leaves behind help Chell, and in turn, the player, with piecing together that GLaDOS could not be trusted and figure out what happened in Aperture Science. Now, if your memory is jogged, you might be thinking:
"Well, Rat Man isn't really a G-Man-esque entity. There's aĀ whole comicĀ explaining his whole deal and why he bothers to help Chell in the first place."
In which, you are correct. However, counter-point! Notice I said 'omnipresent.' The word means something that is widely or constantly encountered. Or, when speaking of a godly figure, present everywhere at the same time. Now, the latter wouldn't apply to the Rat Man, but you could agree that he (the Rat Man's Dens) is widely encountered if you know where to look for his dens. The Rat Man may not be an otherworldly entity, but his presence is still felt once you're aware of his existence. The same could be said about the G-Man. I detour this section to say that Valve has a track record of including an always-watching entity in some of their games that provide aid or woes to their main protagonist. That's why I don't mind the idea of a potential "G-Man-esque" character being a possibility in TF2.
Now, the unfortunate thing is that there are not a lot of omnipresent individuals in the TF2 universe. The only definite person who would fit that role is the Administrator, but we're here to explain who's the person SHE'S indebted to. Unless there's some debt that she owes to herself, we can't really count her in this instance. But in terms of omnipresence, the Administrator is the only one who is persistently present in & out of gameplay that assists and hinders the players (reminds us what time the match ends, informs us if someone took our intelligence, and in the Meet the Spy animation, she quite literally informs BLU team that the RED Spy was in the base; hindering the Spy but assisting the BLU team).
And that's why I opted to pick the UI (Unknown Individual) as the omnipresent individual who oversees the TF2 universe. Once again, because the UI hasn't been established at all in the TF2 universe (there is literally one long sentence dedicated to them), so we're free to throw random bullshit at the wall and claim that it sticks. So, if the UI is the creditor to the Administrator and responsible for her blood debt, then who are they? Since we're categorizing them as a Lovecraftian eldritch being, the joys about this is that I don't have to go into a long-winded rant about them :D. Besides, the fun about the Lovecraftian horrors is that they are not explainable by human comprehension, which I think fits the Administrator heavily since we still, to this day, in canon, don't know what her whole deal is.
However, it wouldn't be fun if we just left it as that. I do have an idea I want to present to explain who or what this entity is. The Unknown Individual, in my book, is a Nyarlathotep-type creature, an entity that thrives on chaos & cruelty and is highly deceptive and manipulative. Nyarlathotep-based on the tib-bit of information I scrounge for this-is a highly active Lovecraftian horror who is more "down to earth" than most cosmic entities in that genre. Nyarlathotep takes the guise of humans instead of maintaining an unfathomable shape, they actually communicate through humanoid means, and they even maintain multiple cults, some of them not even being their own cults, and are instead the religious sects of other Outer Gods & Great Old Ones. As stated before, unlike other Lovecraftian creatures, Nyarlathotep prefers causing madness than death & destruction. Then again, in the same breath, based on various wikis I found, they say that Nyarlathotep has the possible intent to destroy the human race and the earth as well, so take that as you will.
Also, a thing I found interesting was the inspiration that brought about Nyarlathotep. Based on his name, it clearly has Egyptian origins, but what I thought was more fascinating was that Nyarlathotep was conceived due to a dream Lovecraft had. There are many interpretations of this dream, but William Murry, as far back as 1991 and as early as 2006, speculated that Nyarlathotep may have been inspired by Nikola Tesla, who was known to have well-attended lectures that involved extraordinary electrical experiments and was surprisingly seen as a sinister figure by some at the time. And guess who plays the Engineer when Blutarch initially hires 9 mercenaries to forcibly take land from his brotherā¦Take that as you will.
So, we determined WHO the Administrator is, WHAT her cravings possibly were, and WHO her debtor is. So, what's the TLDR version of all of this?
Well, in order, Helen, previously known as Elizabeth, was the true first child of Zepheniah Mann. I'm still going to keep who her mother is ambiguous. As for her craving, Helen wanted to live; the why I also want to leave a pseudo-ambiguous, but I would believe it might be related to what happened to her mother or due to an existential crisis. Helen communes with Nyarlathotep by either seeking them out or the reverse, and they both strike a deal. Nyarlathotep is willing to provide her the immortality she craves as long as she can provide blood in return every year or decade that she lives. A life for a life type of deal. In agreeing with this, Nyarlathotep causes coincidences to happen, such as Zepheniah Mann dying from every illness possible and Zeph giving his entire estate to Helen, along with his "miracle gravel." Nyarlathotep doesn't magically give Helen what she wants but provides her the tools to get what she desires. However, the problem presents itself when it comes to obtaining blood. Helen can't just go on a mindless killing spree, and perhaps taking another life is a daunting task. Canonically, we have never seen the Administrator lift a finger against anyone save for a glass window. And each year/decade she doesn't spill any blood, the more her blood debt increases.
However, she knows two idiots who are willingly sending men to their graves due to a petty feud. Thus, the Administrator decides that, with the newfound affluence she acquired, she would fund Redmond & Blutarch to continue paying Mercenaries to die for their silly land disputes as a secret "interested third party." However, Nyarlathotep, while impressed that she would go this route, opts to not accept these offerings because the Administrator isn't the one doing the killing, even though she's funding the men to perform such deeds. She needs to be the one to pull the trigger, to swing the axe, to light the dynamite fuse. Helen needs blood on HER hands. However, to give credit where credit is due, Nyarlathotep was willing to put her in a "payment plan" to help her make up for the loss of blood she didn't provide. But this arrangement is intended to put her deeper into this blood debt. The Administrator is aware of this, but the hanging threat that this all-powerful entity will snatch away the gifts that they provided hangs over her like a loosely strung-up piano. If she doesn't make the "payments," she loses everything. And every time she thinks she's over it, she's done, she will accept the darkness that awaits her; Helen's fear of the unknown, of absolution, of the monitored office that she has to face every time she temporarily dies; it brings her back into the vicious cycle once again.
By 1890 and some decades before, Helen established TF Industries, a company "devoted to the highest level of craftsmanship and personal security" and "providing the latest in military technology, selling all manner of deadly, cutting-edge devices to prospective buyers." However, this is a pseudo front to bring lambs to the slaughter. In selling deadly weapons & devices, Helen hopes this will cause enough bloodshed to be spilled so that she can repay her debt. And, in hiring individuals to TF Industries and, in turn, sending them to RED or BLU, two companies she would end up buying, she hopes the unsafe work environments will also contribute to fulfilling her debt.
And this is where we will leave the Administrator's portion of this analysis for now since the further down the lore and worldbuilding of TF2 we go, the more we can expand upon her and her involvement with the Gravel Wars. But before we move on to the Gravel Wars itself, there's one final thing we gotta talk about.
#Team Fortress 2#This shit has been sitting in my drafts for a while and I wanna show off what I've gotten done#the Administrator part has nearly driven me insane and I almost didn't want to finish this project#but I got her down where I'm somewhat satified with what I theorize#Also the title speaks for itself#If this feels clunky/paced weirdly/and sounds like mad ramblings is because it is#When I'm done with this I'll most likely delete this#just wanted to put this out there so that there's life to this blog#TF2

Charlotte post NOW (/j only if u want!!)
AHHH charlotte jumpscare!!!!!!!
im not sure what SPECIFICALLY to post abt her bc this ask is a little vague, BUT i do think abt her a lot!!! tho i DO gotta think about her more, she is a WONDERFUL character
bc idk what specifically, my interpretation of her post canon and WHY (also under a readmore because WOW!! i had apparently a lot to say abt her):
i think!!! she is a LOT more mellow after she gets home. like in one 16 after shes respawned its like. she seems to be friendlier? which. i think has to do w like... i dont think she was a bad person really, and i dont think shed been acting Maliciously, but when it came to having friends i think it was really easier for her to genuinely take things as worst as they could be. we dont actually get much of her backstory, so its up to interpretation as to WHY, but i think she genuinely struggled with being distrustful of those close to her. she likes them, that much is clear, but trusting people is a whole other thing
but i think she really DID view her friends as pitying her. as not respecting her, even when they werent Being cruel. they were concerned for her safety, and how her recklessness was affecting her. and i think that can end up walking a line between pity and not wanting your friends to do things that are pretty unambiguously dangerous, and what was very standard friendship ended up feeling a lot MORE like they didnt respect her or her choices
and i think what changes this is that. she DID die. and i think that contextualized for her that her friends werent concerned because they thought she couldnt handle herself, but because they just Generally care abt her yknow? as fucked up as her dying is, i think it did ultimately make her realize that THIS is what her friends were worried about. they didnt want THIS to happen to her, and i think in an odd way? it kinda made her. idk understand? trust? the people around her more. like in a 'oh, people around me dont only care about me for selfish reasons, or cruel reasons. they care because they CARE' way
and i think that, and the fact that she says that shed been thinking about this a lot? i feel like it kinda all forced her to slow down and WANT to talk to the people around her. because shed been pushing them all away because what was the point in talking to them? and i think once she REALLY noticed how amelia was doing, after thinking so much about all this, it kinda MADE her want to amend things. or at the very least, to talk to people more. shes isolated herself long enough, and its now more than ever that she realizes how much others meant to her in the first place.
(i think in some aspects, amelias method of coping also bothered her. amelias coping mechanisms werent necessarily BAD, theyre not good by real-world standards, but given the situation shes in, it was just... once of the few ways she COULD cope. but i think the flaws in this method of coping really came through once airy came back, because in forgetting everything about who she used to be, earth became a very daunting place, but now that airys back, any amount of feeling like home the plane may have unfortunately gained was completely undone. and i think charlotte actually SEES that, and its not the exact same as her own struggles, but i think she WANTS to help amelia, because she of all people knows how the feeling of being isolated, either on purpose or accident, can feel Extremely Awful. that, and she knew amelia before things on the plane got REALLY bad, and she SAW (since ive seen people note that she!!! was watching amelia do yoga w the others) amelia gradually give up, become comfortable, and then LOSE all of that
and i think, at least right before bryce showed up, it felt fucked up that charlotte WAS the only other person from the same world as amelia and theyd!!! never even spoken about it??? (like how she comments that they NEVER told each other their names. which only applies to her and amelia. that statement was intended very specifically towards amelia) and its like. i think it mightve made her a bit 'no WONDER shes not doing well. even if shes trying to act like she is' (which i dont even think amelia is doing to deflect so much as an attempt at 'if i pretend its ok it WILL be ok right?'))
and!!! once getting home i think this would all really lead her to be a bit more patient with others. i dont think the distrust would STOP being an issue, but i think such a terrible experience causing her to completely recontextualize the actions of those around her would actually help, at least a little . i dont actually know if i think shed stay friends w parker and that friend group, but i think theyd at the least keep in touch. parker clearly, even when they were arguing, STILL cared about her, and i think seeing her disappear probably was. a bit haunting, and so i think at the very least hed like to know shes Okay
also whenever people have the characters live together post canon, they only ever include bryce liam and amelia, and i GET why!!! charlotte didnt really interact w them for a looong time. but after charlotte is revived i actually see her as talking with them yknow? i dont think shed stop talking to them again, and i think her talking with amelia was a genuine attempt to help!! so i think theyd stick together. i dont imagine liam actually gets closer with any of the contestants while hes trying to send them home (tho i dont think it worsens substantially either. i think it just sorta. stays where it is? and if he did have notable interactions with any of them, itd PROBABLY be mainly w amelia and bryce, tho i dont think he DOESNT talk to charlotte too! he just has a diff sort of connection w those to, based on the experiences he Shared w them) so i think he isnt SUPER close w charlotte, but i think the others may become WAY closer w her!!! so i think if they all moved in together? that WOULD include charlotte!!! (that, and i think charlotte would also develop a sort of respect for liam . because he kinda DOES display exactly the type of traits she didnt really see people as having!!! going to EXTREME lengths to help people, including HER! so i think shed generally have many thoughts on him)
anyway !!! thats it the point is that as much as one would fuck charlotte up in her own way, i think, similar to how bryce tried to get his life together after he was first eliminated, shed similarly end up having a better ability to navigate social stuff in not such a pessimistic way as before!!!!!
#hfjone#one is a series abt the complexities of isolation man........#how people create it and how people respond to it#i also have many thoughts on what one is abt but . theres such a theme of isolation#(also? its been a longstanding idea ive had that like#charlotte and bryce both mellow out more after one#while liam and amelia both become a bit more easily agitated#NOT that charlotte and bryce wouldnt have their own problems but like#i think BECAUSE these two were in a shittier place that made them rethink stuff#while liam and amelia were doing okay and abruptly had everything ruined#would make charlotte AND bryce actually a bit Better at Navigating things specifically#and i think charlotte and bryce are meant to somewhat reflect back amelia and liam actually#and are meant to show the different ways awful experiences affect people#DUNNO. i think i could put these four on a chart and liam and amelia would be on a diff side from bryce and charlotte#based on the general Way that one affected them#but then liam and bryce would be on a diff side from amelia and charlotte too based on their experiences in a more literal way#if that makes sense#though i think liam AND charlotte ALSO share in their stubbornness and amelia nd bryce in a desire to Let Go of things#so itd be a complex chart#ask
