#joe ramirez#joseph ramirez#band of brothers#rene l. moreno#mine: gifs#hispanic heritage month#latino heritage month#sources vary on whether he was a Private or PFC#they seem to have taken A LOT of creative liberties on the show bc#the only 2 anecdotes about him in BoB seem pretty diff from his character on-screen#not to mention that he would've been in the hospital during events of episodes 8 and 10 (each of which he's in several scenes)#on the other hand i do really like his character in the show and think he's one of the best and most underrated background characters#and why yes i am completely normal about him 😅#but also i'm sure he would've been great too if they'd made him more accurate to what limited info exists about the IRL guy#I forgot to save a few of the documents that bleedingcoffee42 sent me unfortunately but these are most of them!#but from one of them (his draft card?) i discovered he lived like 1.5 miles from my grandparents!!#(tho of course they moved there in the 50s so who knows if he was still living at same address by then... but still!)#oops i originally had the episodes he's in listed wrong on this#so AFAIK he's only NOT in eps 2 and 9#in ep 1 he's twirling a knife at the beginning and eating spaghetti next to Guarnere and Malarkey and playing basketball in England#in ep 6 he's eating the bean soup near the line when Sink arrives#in 7 he's sitting next to popeye and then in the church at the end (maybe in Foy but i'm not positive)#in ep 3 i thiiiink he's in Carentan next to Buck? and he's at the party in England sitting next to Lipton and listening to Gordon#in 4 he's in too many scenes to list here#in 8 he's in too many to list#in 10 he's hunting for food with the group and standing next to Grant's shooter when Speirs comes in the room

Do you think An's mourning went too quick?
if we consider the amount of time between lutf and oyf (a few days), then maybe. first off, you gotta consider genre and storytelling here. vbs is very shounen-like, not that i really know anything about manga but they're basically always working towards the goal, most conflicts are resolved within the event, maybe with some things lingering afterwards but the main conflict (for lutf it was obviously the truth around nagi's death) is always mostly/completely resolved.
also in terms of event pacing, the next event had to be their arc ender (both lutf and oyf are very clearly rushed but the 2nd arc enders are an issue with like 2 other units as well so this is not a vbs exclusive problem). they didn't have the time to stretch out an's grief to more events, plus there was already the in-universe issue of taiga leaving for the US like 3 days after lutf. and yes, an did have let's study hard, but that was always going to be 1-A focused since they didn't have an event yet and needed it before there was no more 1-A.
however, there are multiple card stories and area conversations that show an grieving, and we get to see this in events like break down the wall and the ending of over rad squad to some degree. obviously less intense since time has passed, but there's still an obvious impression that she's mourning nagi. also this.
and as i said earlier, maybe. people grieve differently and for different amounts of time. people will also show it differently. a few days is a bit quick, but again you can put that down to the storytelling. in this kind of game that needs to tell its story quickly you don't have that kind of time. for the type of person an is and the age she is at, i think it was handled quite realistically. i do think it was rushed, but i don't think An would spend a very long time in a state of mourning. also lutf plays with the idea that she kind of already knew. she didn't know nagi was actually dead so she couldn't experience it fully, but there was always that slight sense of anger and denial at nagi having left without saying goodbye and never once talking to her for years. she was already grieving nagi, she just never once seriously thought about the situation.

*banging fists on table* more mentally ill characters in stories that aren't just about them being mentally ill! More mentally ill characters in sci-fi, in fantasy, in romance and fun and high stakes situations and everything in between, as the heroes, as complex individuals, multifaceted and treated with respect, not having their needs and differences ignored or skirted around but, again, not having them be their only trait or plot point/entire premise! Please, I'm begging, on my hands and knees, there's a place for these topics and characters in realistic, reflective and literary fiction, yeah, but there's also a place in those magical, mystical, action packed, mysterious and alien worlds, give them to ME

There are four main types of Batfam fans in regard to how people interpret Bruce Wayne as a dad (/Joking. This is mostly satire and should not be taken seriously):
Fans that think Bruce is emotionally constipated and isn't the best at being a parent but still tries (Differs per person). Don't necessarily think he's absuive but thinks he can be toxic or have unhealthy expectations for the Robins. Can smell the Oldest Daughter Syndrome coming from Dick and have Family Line (By Conan Gray) as their top song on their Dick inspired playlist and Daddy Issues (By The Neighbourhood) for Jason.
Fans that choose to believe Bruce goes to therapy in their own canon. Love B:WFA. Thinks the comic can be cheesy at times and so find a balance between B:WFA Bruce and Please Go To Therapy BruceTM as their middle ground. He struggles. They advocate that Bruce is not a bad parent, he just has bad writers that seem to forget Bruce wouldn't hurt kids, especially not his own. Love the humane moments and scenes he has in BTAS and the early JL cartoons. He may not be perfect but he's not literally abusive. Whores for Bruce being able to admit when he is wrong and for Jason and Bruce reconciling. I recommend Grow As We Go by Ben Platt for this one.
A mix between the first two. Was fine-ish when Dick was younger. Didn't help him in the healthiest way but eh. Still emotionally constipated but that happened more so after Dick left and Jason died. Started getting better when Tim came back but was still closed off. Should probably go to therapy with the kids so they can drag his ass about all the things he's done that have actually affected them negatively. Understands his mistakes and is also able to admit when he's wrong, eventually. It's not easy but he starts to do better and learns to be more emotionally available. Still has to get chewed out by Alfred sometimes but definitely better than he used to be and it shows. Reconciliation is slow and gradual but progress is made for everyone involved.
The one's I personally avoid for my own sanity and wellbeing:
Think Bruce is a complete bastard and abuser. Want him to choke. Hate any and all interpretations of him. Some of which will refuse to understand how anyone could have a different interpretation. Will point out comics where, in all fairness, he is a dick but forget that characterisation can significantly differ from one series to the next, as comic characters are constantly passed around to different writers and have been for decades. Not to mention movies, shows, etc.
#Bruce Wayne#Batman#Batfam#Batdad#I'm not tagging everyone in the Batfam I can't be assed#Sorry there's like 500#Bruce has a child for every mental disorder he has#Dick is his ADHD. Jason is his C-PTSD. Tim is his Anxiety. Cass is his OCD. Damian is his Autism.#Like bro the therapist is RIGHT there#You have the money just GO#I am a mix of 2 and 3 tbh but more so 2 because he is my comfort fictional father figure. I already have a shit dad irl#I'm not dealing with it in my favourite media too#Type 4 fans scare me I lowkey see so many people like that and I'm like. If the block button wasn't free. I'd be in debt by now#I get that you saw Tom Kings work. So did I. I hate that fuck. But I personally prefer the scene of him in JL with Ace on the swings#Or the one with him playing with shape block toys with a baby whilst Supes and WW handle the questioning#Or when he hugs literally any of his kids#Or the one of him and Jason watching a movie and eating popcorn when Jason's ill. And they have the picture of them posing#Or when he cried in Flashpoint over the letter his dad left him because the little boy in him needed that#Plus any time Bruce and Clark interact as Best Friends. The Golden Age comics where they were basically Dick's gay dads 💀#But yeah. I could make a poll from this tbh.#This is a generalisation on purpose genuinely do not take it seriously#If I see ANY disclosure. It's delete and block on sight#Bruh I'm still recovering from the notes of my Fallout 4 John Hancock in a Drag Race outfit crossover post#I know it sounds like I'm being paranoid but that's because I am. You have not seen the things I have seen in my notes#You do not know of the wars I have fought of over ghoul dicks and high heels#I have seen things I can never burn from my vision. Read things I will never have the mercy of forgetting#Over silly little shitposts. Lmao. Anyway. Here. Have some food.

#art#traditional art#watercolour#fanart#virvox project#shirakami kotarou#kurono takehiro#vocal synth#voicevox#another one based off the memories of some post i saw a while back. i was like possessed. to redraw vsynth characters in popular posts#also low key this was what it was like being 22 in university classes full of 18-19 year olds for a bit there LHJSKHJFSDAjdfs#THEY WERE nicer about it. but sometimes they would find out my age and i could see the 'grown ass' flicker across their eyes#especially when they topic of discussion was shit like sororities and me not knowing shit about it. in my defence i was 1) confused about#'greek life' for a while because i am mixed race and kind of ambiguous irl so i just assumed it was a like a cultural based society thing#(we have a lot of those in my school its very multicultural) and they made an incorrect guess about my ethnicity again and 2) when I DID#finally figure out what the hell 'greek life' was supposed to be i signed up cause a friend asked me to but i missed the first day of#orientation cause i was sick and then the sororities started sending really passive agressive emails to me so i got scared off LOL#random sorority sidetrack aside. it was really funny when i was like yeah i dont really understand the whole deal#and a classmate was like oh well yeah i guess you wouldnt have the experience how old are you again like 18?#and i was like........................................................i turned 23 a month ago <:3c#and her face journey as she realized i was like 3-4 years older than her.... my apologies my dearest classmate#sowwy for being in my early 20s. it wont happen again <3

I met with a childhood friend a couple of days ago who proceeded to ask me, in secret as if he was talking about something illegal, if the sims were still a thing.
Oh, my sweet summer child, you don't want to open that pandora box. xD

I somehow found myself looking at pictures from the two Cup races at Road America the other night, and I'm still fucking fuming over the world-class screwjob NASCAR gave the track and the fans. This is what they threw away:
one of the most prestigious tracks in the world
drew over 100k people for each Cup race
the fan experience is second-to-none
it's in Wisconsin, probably second only to North Carolina when it comes to stock car racing but somehow snubbed by the Cup series for nearly 70 years, despite producing game-changing, legendary racers from to Dick Trickle and Dave Marcis to Alan Kulwicki and Matt Kenseth; and being crucial to the careers of guys like Mark Martin and Rusty Wallace
it's affordable ($140 for the weekend pass in 2022, kids under 16 get in free, all kinds of camping and accommodations allowed, free parking, outside food allowed), especially when compared to the Chicago street race it was dumped for (GA starts at $269…)
it was likely the only time my broke, disabled ass could have afforded to go to a race
it's beautiful
and the drivers loved it:
"I miss going to Road America. That's a beautiful area. A track with a lot of history. The fans were always great there as well. So yes, I do miss going there." - Kyle Larson
"I love Road America. The fans there are awesome, they really, really love racing in general, and it's super deserving of a Cup date, I think. It's a beautiful track, a massive racetrack that always puts on a really good show. I look forward to going there again... because the track is so great and the people up there love racing." - Ryan Blaney
"Road America is a great track. The fan turnout last year was amazing. It’s a huge track and there were people all over the place, so it really had a great atmosphere. I’m looking forward to going back this weekend. " - Denny Hamlin
“I was super nervous leaving Daytona for our July 4th race, for NASCAR that's been a tradition that's been in place for many years... I had a lot of emotional ties to that [race]… Man, we came up here last year and I was blown away, I really was. The people are nice, it's a beautiful area, people are outside and enjoying the racetrack, and I felt like they couldn't have received us better, trying to start a new tradition somewhere. … I feel like it's been a really nice fit for us and the people around here have accepted us with open arms.” - Chase Elliott
"What better place than Road America? I love the fans. I love this racetrack. Being here on 4th of July weekend is just so special." - Tyler Reddick
“I think this is a special racetrack to any racer, you know, you hear guys like Mario Andretti talk about it being the most complete racetrack in the world. The fans that come out to this place… it’s such a great atmosphere, such a great family atmosphere. It makes you wanna do it even more, as a driver.” - Austin Cindric
“Road America has always been one of my favorite racetracks in anything I’ve driven over my career there. … I love the crowd there, the Wisconsin race fans, they pack that place in.” - AJ Allmendinger
“Road America, I can’t say it enough–it’s such a nice facility. It’s like you go to a state park and there’s a racetrack there, it’s so beautiful. The fans are always awesome every time we go, and from a racetrack standpoint I think it’s really one of the best road courses in the country in my opinion. It just has so many different elements… It really has everything you look for in a road course.” - Chase Briscoe
“I think more than anything that the fans in Wisconsin deserve a race up there, and they come out in droves. It’s a fun atmosphere in that area.” - Austin Dillon
“Clearly the fans were hungry for this kind of race. It’s a great weekend to have it. Being Independence weekend, it feels like we might’ve found a new home for Fourth of July.” - Brad Keselowski
“Road America was amazing and I’m missing that.” - Alex Bowman
"Road America is arguably one of the most beautiful race tracks we go to, as well as one of the biggest fan bases we go to, one of the most passionate fan bases we go to, just a great facility.” - Justin Allgaier
“You know, I really enjoyed going up to Road America. I think the fan support of that race in general was incredible and I’m excited that we get to go back this year.” - Martin Truex Jr.
“It’s been amazing. I think the first time by I used a few expletives describing just how awesome the experience was coming around at speed. … This track has been on my wishlist since I was a young kid watching racing, and to finally be here is really special.” - Jimmie Johnson
"I’ve never heard a bad thing about Road America. You hear so many great stories about people racing here and doing things here and how great the race track was." - Kevin Harvick
“From a driver's perspective, there's not a racetrack we go to that's more fun.” - Regan Smith
"It was fun. I really enjoyed Road America and just the whole challenge of running here ... I really enjoyed coming up here today and the Wisconsin people were great. … The fans here were just ecstatic that the Cup Series was here. It was a lot of fun." - Kurt Busch
Even Dale Jr.
“Daytona Beach was the tradition for July 4th. … You know me, man, I hate changes in NASCAR. … I’ll be honest, man. [Road America] was awesome. It really was. It was awesome! … We rode around [the track] in a rental car… and that’s when you can really pick up on just how many people are there, how much camping is there, this place is beautiful. You would go and enjoy that experience even if there wasn’t a racetrack! … So I’m sold, man. Road America was – I was a bit taken aback by it. … That part of the country, they are passionate about motorsports. I was impressed. I think it’s a great place, sign a ten year agreement. Let’s go.” – Dale Earnhardt Jr.
