this makes sense to me too but honestly i keep having the the thought that maybe the whole point is that sand will continue letting ray walk all over him until it finally ends in their relationship being over for good. idk it just feels like we’re never going to see ray at the least respect sand and maybe that’s the point …..he won’t until maybe the very until end when he realizes what he’s truly done and what he’s lost. but he won’t be able to come back from it in regards to his relationship with sand. sorry for being negative 😭😭 it just feels like that’s where it’s going. right now my only hope is khao saying ray works out his feelings/has growth and that thread that screenwriter retweeted.

but imagine if the sandray scene from the ep 8 preview is out of context and i’m getting high blood pressure from all week for nothing. i don’t think so though because idk how ray’s words could be taken out of context and be less negative than i’m assuming especially not with that smug ass face he has on

I think that Ep8 preview could start wars tbh because the emotional damage it has dealt the majority of the fandom is honestly insane.

I can definitely see a version of this story where Ray realizes too late how he feels and the whole SandRay story ends on a very sour note. I'm choosing not to believe that that is where the story is going though because of those things you mentioned (Khao's comments and what the screenwriter retweeted). Also want to callback to the interview where FK said their characters end up together in the end (I believe the interview was done before filming, but it could still be worth something). Finally, I believe that Jojo and others made reference to FK filming a scene that was "hotter than life" and we haven't seen it yet to the best of my knowledge, so that could be a good sign?

This might be naive, but looking back on everything, I think that SandRay has been portrayed too well to go down the shitter because of RayMew--especially because Ray's crush on Mew has always been the problem. If anything, we're working towards resolving the biggest threat to Sand and Ray's relationship. In that sense, I'm glad we've gotten the ball rolling so we can get the heartbreak over with as fast as possible.

It makes me wonder: What are the showrunners trying to convey with SandRay's relationship? Not trying to say that every story has to have a moral, but in the case of this couple, what are we meant to take away from it? It could be that we don't realize what we have until it's too late. But something about that feels almost cruel given Ray's addiction problems.

Ray has seemed so hopeless this entire show except when he is with Sand (and Mew, but I think he'll realize that a relationship with Mew has always been just a fantasy). He's incredibly lonely. And for him to end up lonely in the end would just...rip my heart out. So even if Ray and Sand don't end up together, I am at least hoping for an ending where Ray is able to get the help he needs and have people in his life he can rely on. For my part, I believe Sand will remain a large part of Ray's support system.

i am so convinced that mew is just playing top.

hear me out. mew is the type of person who knows more than he lets on, like especially with jo describing mew’s character as “quietly seductive” like we know this. mew mostly likely knows that boston knew top through a hook up, he knows top is a player and he also knows he doesn’t fall for those kinds of men. so by allowing himself to have a relationship with top he allows himself to experience romance without any real chance of heartbreak because he’d never fall for that kind of man.

like i think mew knows about ray’s crush on him but pretends to be oblivious so as to not lose his friend and never give him a chance because ray isn’t exactly the healthiest of people but he would be kind to mew and there is a real possibility of him falling for ray. but top? he has no prior connection to him, hes not particularly kind (unless being kind benefits him in some way) and when it goes south it won’t affect mew at all. and also its great karma for all of top’s past lovers he’s probably fucked over (justice for sand!)

I feel so bad for Sand, he gave into Ray and then Ray just left him. I feel so bad(but also relived that Ray didn’t just leave his drunk friend) for him. He was trying so hard to set boundaries between them(AS HE SHOULD) and then once he-probably against his better judgement- gave into Ray and ignored those boundaries, Ray left to help his friend. You could literally see the moment his heart broke and then having to play it off.

thinking about how i’m going to struggle through watching raymew on my screen on saturday

you know, before it started airing, i thought only friends was going to end with no couples or maybe one, and the friendship with mew, ray, and boston being repaired/the true "endgame," but now it's like...

were mew and boston ever actually friends? i'm sure we'll get more flashbacks, but so far they've barely interacted; boston clearly resents him and seems to have for at least two years (definitely before top was interested in mew). meanwhile, mew and ray love each other (in different ways) but there's been a strain on their friendship, also for at least two years that now has gotten worse, because of ray's continued pining.

seems more like they were woven very delicately and the introduction of top pulled at an already loose thread that unraveled the whole thing - but it would have fallen apart regardless.

personally, i think if mewray got together it would kind of defeat the purpose of the sleep kiss. plus, i've been in these years-long unrequited love situations... from both sides, and i have a hard time seeing it end any other way but ugly. it's still a drama though, so who knows.

and boston? i would have... an impossible time forgiving him. literally impossible, i would (and will) never forgive him. even if it hadn't been assault and coercion. not only does he cross a line, but he seems to do it because he has Issues with mew specifically. if someone not only fucked my partner but went out of his way to do it to hurt me, i would cut him out of my life with no parole.

could i forgive top on the other hand? under these circumstances, definitely. but i think i'd need some time to deal with his not trusting me, but knowing why he didn't would help me get over it. (as long as he didn't give me an sti......... which i'm hoping won't be a thing. p'jojo's last drama apparently had a lot of emphasis on safe sex so i'm a little worried about that.)

nickboston and sandray both get into physical fights, which should be a deal-breaker for me irl but in a drama? meh. idk if the writers are examining partner violence/abuse in addition to consent though.

in my limited experience, i'm ok at predicting episode by episode or a few big twists (who enchante is, who got tian pregnant, the eclipse curse), but like the others i still don't know how this all is going to play out. a lot can happen in eight episodes.

anyway. just some thinky-thoughts that ran away from me.

thankfully you didn't ask me to rank them, so in no particularly order of preference we have:

sandray's new year's peck

it's soft, it feels so domestic and sweet. it's just them being happy and content and hopeful for the future. it's great.

sandray's pool kiss

it's such a fucking statement (despite ray not realizing it). the way sand was all stiff when kissing boeing, but when he kisses ray he's immediately into his touch? and how he reaches out to touch ray? how his hand hovers over ray's throat? 10/10.

sandray's smoke kiss

what a phenomenal first kiss, we all have to agree. it's hot, it's gorgeous, and it show so much passion and desire from both parts, honestly. the whole sequence was breathtaking, and i love it. (the way sand pulls on ray's bottom lip and when he kisses ray's hip tattoo? absolute cinema.)

akkayan's "what is our relationship?" kiss

in specific this second kiss out of the three we've got back to back. it's just so cute the way akk keeps saying what aye doesn't want to hear just to get more kisses, and aye happily "punishes" him for it. the way they both smile before and into the kiss. it's for sure one of my all time overall favorite kisses.

sandray's angry kiss

completely different vibes from the previous one. i don't know, it just has such a good build-up. from the moment ray barged into that room i knew he wasn't leaving sand without either getting punched or getting railed. unfortunately, top got in the way for that second option to happen. it's the way ray just takes a breath between kisses and how disoriented sand looked when they were interrupted that does it for me.

sandray's end of the date kiss

it was the perfect end for the perfect day if bostonnick hadn't appeared. were they going to have sex in the balcony of sand's apartment? maybe. but it's not about that. their day together had been perfect. they woke up together, had breakfast together, went shopping together, went to a concert, ate, flirted, ray met sand's mom and sang for him. ray opened up about his mom. they were both on the way to let the other in and give each other a try, and then we know what happened.

akkayan's fantasy kiss

akk has a very vivid imagination. people have talked about this before. how it doesn't start with an actual kiss, but just a cheek kiss, and then it's akk imagining aye wanting him, actively pursuing him romantically, choosing him, kissing him. it's just gorgeous.

akkayan's first actual kiss

"i want to kiss you. can i kiss you?" "if you want me to stop, if you're not okay, tell me. i'll stop." IT'S BEAUTIFUL!!! i'm in awe every time i watch this scene. it's so gentle and tame, and at the same time, it's so heavy with meaning. the way they both feel the kiss? listen, i'm unwell.

sandray's 'sand almost got that d' kiss

no one can convince me sand didn't want to get fucked in that car, and i love how ravished he looks when they are interrupted (again) by mew. but this kiss is here specifically because of the this part where ray so skillfully closes the sunroof with one hand while still kissing sand. i love it. when it came out, i watched this part more times than i'd like to admit.

akkayan's bridge kiss

akkayan's kisses in our skyy 2 were works of art. i lost count of how many times i've watched this kiss in specific. now we know that most of the bridge scene was improvised, hence why akk/first looks amused by aye/khaotung's little pecks before their actual kiss, but it's undoubtedly one of their prettiest kisses. the location, and the sun behind akk's head, the domesticity and sweetness. it's just so so great, i really love it.

special mentions: weed cookie "kiss", cheek kiss after sex and cheek kiss after therapy, because i needed to include them too. they are that special to me.
