My friend hasn't really picked up onk for a long time (I think they've read up to vol. 10 or so and they say they're going to read it when the manga reaches its completion. They're WISE) but they know I've been picking up on it lately because I told them the songs for S2 were really good!
They texted me today asking "I've been listening to Mephisto- did Ai and her bf break up when they were just about to become happy together? In that case, this is so cruel."
with no other context and I was really surprised
YEAH... coming to think of it, that is actually true!! But how did they find out??? They're SHARP???
Then again, that song does have that sort of vibe
#I have great friends#random blabbering#oshi no ko spoilers#they are really good at making analyses but with different approaches on things#we always somehow come to the same conclusion though and it's really interesting.. I wish our interests overlap

Ant Mun, if you had the power to choose one person you have met on here and protect them, who and why? If you want to give top 5 that would be okay?
((Definitely top 5 because I can’t just pick one. There’s more than one I want to hug and protect. Heck, I don’t know if I can keep it to just 5 but I’ll try.
@midnightkens
@frecklystars
@manymusesbym
@strxngetimes
@stargazingcarol
I really could continue, but these are the top 5. I just love them very much, and I think they deserve the world. I want to wrap them all in a weighted blanket, give them their favorite snack, give them a hug, and tell them how amazing they are.))
#for the ant mun#hugs#love me some hugs#I have great friends#and I want to hug them#and protect them#and shower them with TLC

the groupchat I have with my friends is fucking chaos because last night at 10pm I baked a whole ass chocolate cake, my friend (A) finds out that an avocado is a fruit, A also finds out what three K's means, my other friend (M) spams lyrics from big juicy, I summoned beetlejuice and then texted my gf to tell her to open the groupchat because she'd been gone that whole time, and then my gf joins and gets mad at the other two cause they sent 113 messages total from this one gc 😭
#hehe#i have great friends#I know right#(our gc picture is a photoshopped picture of us in a school bus with fire in the background)#anyway though..#beetlejuice beetlejuice beetlejuice#oh oops summoned him again 🧍🧍#wasnt me 🧑🦯🧑🦯#but yeah

☄️ for Ciya?
People often assume Xiya isn't smart because of the dumb blonde cheerleading stereotype, but that couldn't be further from the truth. She is my spiderverse original character, so obviously she is a brilliant chemist. Also people assume just because she is a cheer leader she is fearless, but that isn't true either, she actually quit cheer leading after she got bit, and is very shy, traumatized and insecure. One of the only things that is assumed about her at first glace that ends up being true is yes she is clingy and yes she and Faye are dating @bitter-goodbyes

I was hanging out at the karaoke bar, chatting with a beautiful woman, and we were really hitting it off. I threw a couple of flirtatious comments her way. She giggled nervously, but abruptly stopped and looked at the floor.
She told me that she was too nervous to hit on people because she's trans and worries that people will view her as a predator and that she might get hurt.
My heart sank. I let her know that she could hit on me in whatever way she wanted and I would LOVE it. We spent the rest of the night hanging out and flirting. We ended up making out. It was great.
But I can't stop thinking about how that wasn't the first time a trans woman has said that to me. About how unsafe it is for some women that they feel the need to give out fucking disclaimers to have normal interactions with people.
We have GOT to make the world a safer place for trans women. It pisses me off that there are men at the bar who are openly predatory towards me without fear of consequence, yet a trans woman is too scared to even fucking call me pretty. And that's because she IS more likely to face worse consequences for lesser things! Like what the fuck!
You need to always check on your internalized biases. Being queer yourself doesn't absolve you of transmisogynistic thoughts and behaviors. Being bi/pansexual doesn't mean you don't hold those biases either! If you feel differently about a trans woman hitting on you than you feel about a cis woman or a man hitting on you, you need to evaluate that.
Trans women, I love you so fucking much. You should be able to express attraction and love as freely as everyone else. I hope you can always feel safe around me. And I'll never stop fighting until you can feel safe period.
#her name was Kara which we joked about bc I came with my other friend named Kara and we were at the Kara-oke bar lol#i told her about how last time i was hit on at that same bar was ALSO by another woman named Kara#she said ''i need to find a man to transition right now so we can have more karas'' 🤣😭 she was so great lol#and I'm texting another friend named Kara right now😭 soon everyone will be Kara#transmisogyny tw#.bdo

To me it’s the fact that Steve assumed Robin had a license but still woke up 3 hours before his work shift to drive her to school everyday.
That is not a plot hole everybody, that is just the kind of person Steve Harrington is.
#you dont understand#what a great friend Steve is#this is the main reason why I don’t want his story to revolve again around Nancy#it’s him and Robin and they have the greatest friendship in the show#these two mf will get married and live together and it’s going to be 10000% platonic#if you look up platonic soulmates in the dictionary SBAM just pictures of Stobin#Im done bye#steve harrington#platonic stobin#robin buckley#stranger things

Today my therapist introduced me to a concept surrounding disability that she called "hLep".
[plain-text version of this post can be found under the cut]
Which is when you - in this case, you are a disabled person - ask someone for help ("I can't drink almond milk so can you get me some whole milk?", or "Please call Donna and ask her to pick up the car for me."), and they say yes, and then they do something that is not what you asked for but is what they think you should have asked for ("I know you said you wanted whole, but I got you skim milk because it's better for you!", "I didn't want to ruin Donna's day by asking her that, so I spent your money on an expensive towing service!") And then if you get annoyed at them for ignoring what you actually asked for - and often it has already happened repeatedly - they get angry because they "were just helping you! You should be grateful!!"
And my therapist pointed out that this is not "help", it's "hLep".
Sure, it looks like help; it kind of sounds like help too; and if it was adjusted just a little bit, it could be help. But it's not help. It's hLep.
At its best, it is patronizing and makes a person feel unvalued and un-listened-to. Always, it reinforces the false idea that disabled people can't be trusted with our own care. And at its worst, it results in disabled people losing our freedom and control over our lives, and also being unable to actually access what we need to survive.
So please, when a disabled person asks you for help on something, don't be a hLeper, be a helper! In other words: they know better than you what they need, and the best way you can honor the trust they've put in you is to believe that!
Also, I want to be very clear that the "getting angry at a disabled person's attempts to point out harmful behavior" part of this makes the whole thing WAY worse. Like it'd be one thing if my roommate bought me some passive-aggressive skim milk, but then they heard what I had to say, and they apologized and did better in the future - our relationship could bounce back from that. But it is very much another thing to have a crying shouting match with someone who is furious at you for saying something they did was ableist. Like, Christ, Jessica, remind me to never ask for your support ever again! You make me feel like if I asked you to call 911, you'd order a pizza because you know I'll feel better once I eat something!!
Edit: crediting my therapist by name with her permission - this term was coined by Nahime Aguirre Mtanous!
Edit again: I made an optional follow-up to this post after seeing the responses. Might help somebody. CW for me frankly talking about how dangerous hLep really is.

#hlep#original#mental health#my sympathies and empathies to anyone who has to rely on this kind of hlep to get what they need.#the people in my life who most need to see this post are my family but even if they did I sincerely doubt they would internalize it#i've tried to break thru to them so many times it makes my head hurt. so i am focusing on boundaries and on finding other forms of support#and this thing i learned today helps me validate those boundaries. the example with the milk was from my therapist.#the example with the towing company was a real thing that happened with my parents a few months ago while I was age 28. 28!#a full adult age! it is so infantilizing as a disabled adult to seek assistance and support from ableist parents.#they were real mad i was mad tho. and the spoons i spent trying to explain it were only the latest in a long line of#huge family-related spoon expenditures. distance and the ability to enforce boundaries helps. haven't talked to sisters for literally the#longest period of my whole life. people really believe that if they love you and try to help you they can do no wrong.#and those people are NOT great allies to the chronically sick folks in their lives.#you can adore someone and still fuck up and hurt them so bad. will your pride refuse to accept what you've done and lash out instead?#or will you have courage and be kind? will you learn and grow? all of us have prejudices and practices we are not yet aware of.#no one is pure. but will you be kind? will you be a good friend? will you grow? i hope i grow. i hope i always make the choice to grow.#i hope with every year i age i get better and better at making people feel the opposite of how my family's ableism has made me feel#i will see them seen and hear them heard and smile at their smiles. make them feel smart and held and strong.#just like i do now but even better! i am always learning better ways to be kind so i don't see why i would stop
