Another much overdue ask compilation! Some short-ish lore asks (Gale, Gort, DU drow relationships and pet-companion preferences) and a couple of art/advice ones sprinkled in. THIS IS BY NO MEANS ALL OF MY ASKS so as usual I appreciate everyone's patience!

I actually think he'd give them a pass entirely as soon as he noticed. Correct me if I'm mistaken but half-drow get No love from underdark drow and are usually surface babies right? So that fruit is miles away from the tree lol. I think he generally has a bit of a soft spot for mixed kinds since he himself feels like an amalgamation of sorts.

THAT'S TRICKY TO ANSWER BECAUSE OFTEN TIMES I'M NOT... REALLY TRYING. I've draw a ton of horror comics for mine and my partner's series' SAD SACK and SORTIE, so I think it just comes naturally to me 😅 also I do genuinely find expressive and, uh, rugged faces more attractive? (I think they look rugged, again that's what people tell me at least.)

I think the secret might be adding bits of realism in there. I get a lot of comments about the wrinkles and eyelashes I add to my art, as well as the way I draw individual teeth (though I've lately been making an effort to simplify my style in favor of drawing faster, so I haven't done that as much or in as much detail.)

Both symmetry and the lack of it can also add to that effect. I have employed both facial unevenness and almost point-perfect symmetry to achieve something a little frightening or otherworldly in my work. [MORE UNDER THE CUT]

Hahah well I somewhat doubt Bhaal would care that his spawn gets named, but either way he stripped himself of his name as soon as he killed his foster parents and abandoned the Underdark. He had a drow name that I jotted down somewhere but it's completely irrelevant because nobody has used it since he was a child, and he doesn't remember it (even pre-tadpole/having his brain scrambled.) Everyone just referred to him as his supposed race, or as Bhaalspawn or Bhaal's child, and any other similar titles. Orin called him "kin" and "brother" and Gortash likely called him his associate. Post-tadpole the camp grows entirely used to calling him "the drow" and he has no desire to change that or to choose a proper name.

THANK YOU BOTH SO MUCH😭 no reason to be intimidated, I'm just some rando drawing BG3 fan art LOL I've been drawing since I was a child, and started taking it semi-seriously when I was 16 years old, so twelve years ago! That's around the time where I got my first non-display tabled and used that well into my twenties, prior to that I only did stuff on paper and liked to do inks color with pencils. I never really ventured into traditional painting at all except for a little bit of water-coloring in college.

Traditional and Digital art are very much different beasts. Which one you want to start with is, in my opinion, just dependent on what you want to do. Digital art gives you a lot of tools that makes learning easier, but you might find yourself having much steeper of a learning curve if you ever decide to do traditional art instead. If you want to be good at both, you need to practice both, since the skill doesn't entirely translate from one medium to the other.

Naturally you will be able to draw well on either, it's just... Different. I will say though, that I think if you're still learning you should use whatever allows you to look directly at what your hand is doing, so either traditional or display tablet/Ipad. I have no idea what a non-display tablet would do to a beginner, but remembering my experience with it I feel like it might be a huge detriment to developing the skill (feel free to share your experiences in the replies if you disagree, as I would definitely be curious to read them!)

That's definitely reserved for the vamp LOL DU drow very much enjoys when Astarion teases and fusses over him, and while Astarion probably got a kick out of acting that way around such a big and scary looking guy at first, I think by "now" (later and post-game) he's pretty much immune to DU drow's looks and just enjoys doing it in earnest.

He's not at all averse to being touched (even rather intimately) by close friends, but he wouldn't be quite THAT vulnerable with anyone else.

HE REALLY DISLIKED GALE... He irked him out by seemingly fostering a rather persistent romantic interest in him for at least half the time they spent together (very much based on my interpretation of their in-game interactions at the time, though my Gale might have been a little bugged.)

But also they had a... Fairly in depth relationship still? Gale was a staple in my party, and even though I antagonized him constantly by the end of the game it still felt like they had so much weight in each other's lives, if that makes sense. I might need to do a bit of an "update" on the DU Drow/Gale lore sometime, I feel like I've had some thoughts since that warrant more exploration of their dynamic (you can find a lot of old asks about it if you just search the Gale Dekarios tag in my blog though).

The gist of it is that DU drow found him arrogant and duplicitous, his constant optimist irritated him to no end and felt like it veiled a stream of self-pity (two things DU drow despises) Gale's attempts to get through to him only added insult to injury. By the end of the game he decided to pursue the crown of Karsus and this only lost him even more respect in Drow's eyes, seeing as he doesn't value godly power at all.

I was pretty overwhelmed by the game at the start so I actually missed a lot LOL including Scratch. I did get the owlbear cub though, which DU drow gladly welcomed into camp since it was injured - but I think he would have wished for it to remain a wild animal and to return back to it's home after it had grown up a bit. He didn't really make a "pet" out of it more than he just looked after the little guy in the way it's mother might have, probably with Shadowheart's help.

He wouldn't be opposed to proper pets though if one were to stumble into his life. He'd definitely be more of a cat guy because of their independence and strong little attitudes.

It is very hard to build proper rapport with him. He will be "friendly" to most people who have a good sense of humor about them, but friendSHIP is another thing entirely.

I think it's kind of circumstantial. He's very economical in his relationships and doesn't really seek them out at all - so a situation where he's forced to be in someone's company might be the only way to develop a bond with him, as he doesn't appreciate insistence either and that's more likely to push him away. He doesn't value status or titles either (kind of looks down on them really) so that won't help.

I think he just likes people who are true to themselves and their nature, sometimes even if the nature is one he disagrees with at it's core. This is why he liked Gortash, why he and Shadowheart got along so well, and why him and Astarion fit together so seamlessly despite seeming so different. Likewise I think it's why he didn't jive with people like Gale or Wyll, because they seemed to be rather... Dishonest with themselves and their own end-goals.

Ok so i imagined that pthumerians probably used to grow them before but you can’t find those flowers in Yharnam anymore.

Maria’s pendant represent of course a lumenflower and she had a rare dry up specimen.

At some point the old hunters & healing church went to Loran for research purpose (for me the surface of Loran is very similar to the nightmare frontier) And in some caves they finally found them, The lumenflowers 🌻✨

At least Maria found them and was just so freaking happy. She screamed so strongly that it worried everyone at first 😅

Gehrman was just half concerned because it sounded more like a « i’m surprised type of scream » rather than a « i’m in danger type of scream ». But yeah she’s fine she just find our precious and rare kin flowers that grow in the dark and glow x)

If she wasn't at the camp or in the underground catacombs (chalice dungeon) she went into the small caves + accompany Caryll & Rom who tested things with the augurs and the flowers.

When they came back to Yharnam, they took some lumenflowers back with them. Like I drew here. They hoped to be able to cultivate them. (Because it's link with the great ones etc. That was before the hamlet too)

It was a project that mostly Maria & Gehrman did together. As Maria have lot of theoretical knowledge on plants and Gehrman have lots of practical one! (they already did that at Byrgenwerth XD Gehrman was a groundskeeper. One of his activity was planting flowers yes XD and after meeting Maria she gave him advices on the timing of when each species will bloom so it would create even prettier flowerbeds. He taught her about medicinal plants too).

I mean those two planted the workshop's flowers and some little trees as well.

After it work out and many plants grew and survived, they put them in what will become the research hall/ orphanage

What about the huge lumen flowers in front of the astral clocktower? Euh... idk Maria tried something I guess 😅 I suppose corpses getting buried at their foot had some effect...

If some lumenflowers remained at the workshop/ other places than the research hall, after Maria passing, Gehrman didn't keep them growing at those places.

Hey... sorry if this is too much, but im a baby trans and ive been struggling to grasp the concept what gender is, everytime i try to look for a definition i only find the vague basics like "its what you identify as!" Or i find bigoted shit from trasphobes. If you have any recommendations of essays about gender from trans people who dive deeper unto the concept it would really help. Sorry if im bothering you i just dont really know who else to ask 😅

i don't know how helpful i can be. i have a very instrumental view of transition--i.e., if you think it might make you happier than you are now, you should give it a try and see. i think a lot of pointless verbiage is spilled on trying to nail down difficult-to-elucidate questions about purely internal experiences, about the distinction between gender and sex, and about what all this gender stuff means anyway. i think that stuff can be interesting to discuss, if you like that sort of thing (and i do!) but that loading yourself up with a lot of gender theory isn't actually useful for figuring out what you should do vis a vis your gender presentation and how you identify.

for those latter questions, i think the answer is simple: what makes you happier? when you imagine a given gender presentation, or your body being different in certain ways, or people calling you by a certain name, does that sound appealing? doesn't matter why. if so, go for it! and frankly this advice is quite agnostic of whether or not you're cis or trans. people should adopt the identities that feel most conducive to their happiness. you do not need elaborate theoretical justifications for any of it. anyone who demands an elaborate theoretical justification for how you dress or what name you choose to use or anything like that is an asshole whose opinion you can safely ignore. i guarantee you they are selective in this demand, and are only using it to try to find an excuse to be a dick.

that said, you want a definition of gender, and i guess i can try.

"gender" has no definition. that's not meant to be a smart aleck answer. what i mean is: "gender" is a conceptual category. conceptual categories do not exist outside of our discourse about them. there is nowhere in the world you can go to lay your hands on A Gender. there is no Gender Particle. and while in most philosophical traditions we think of categories as having necessary and sufficient conditions for membership ("a human is an animal descended from the last common ancestor of humans and chimpanzees" might be such a taxonomic definition), conceptual categories aren't actually constructed that way. because that's not how the human brain actually works: when you're a kid learning what words mean, you don't learn "a chair is a thing with four legs you sit on." that wouldn't be accurate anyway (a horse is not a chair). you see lots of chairs and pictures of chairs and you form an image in your mind of what a chair is and when you see a thing your brain compares it to other things like it you've seen before, and if it looks like your mental model of a chair, you think, "chair."

(this is in fact how almost all definitions work in practice. even for formal scientific categories for which it seems like a traditional definition might be workable, because our terms are so specific, there are problems and corner-cases. is a HeLa cell a human? it's certainly an autonomous organism. it's certainly descended from the last common ancestor of a chimpanzee and a human being. but it's a single-celled organism that exists only in laboratory cultures, and lacks everything else we expect a human to have.)

so, uh, gender. "gender" is from the latin word "genus" meaning "kind." it is a doublet (that is, shares an etymological origin) with the words "genre" and (more distantly) "kin." obviously, a word's etymology is not its meaning. confusing the two is called the etymological fallacy. but originally when we talked about "gender" we were pretty explicitly talking about categories in general, and i think that's useful to keep in mind. incidentally, "sex" (also from Latin) has a similar etymology--it's related to "section," i.e., the creation of a category by dividing a group. though "sex" acquired something like its current meaning much earlier.

most human cultures group humans into two broad conceptual categories. this is based on a variety of traits, of which physical traits like genitals are seen as frequently foundational. some cultures explicitly create additional ancillary categories, or provide a means to move (often only partially) from one category to another. contemporarily, there has been an effort to distinguish "biological sex" (seen as what chromosomes you have, reflected by what genitals and other physical characteristics you have) from "gender" (seen as a question of social presentation).

i think this is a mistake. you might be able to spot why--biological sex is a conceptual category! most humans are xx or xy, but there is in fact a wide variety of sex-chromosomal arrangements that are possible. xx and xy are only the most common. biology is messy, and it's hard to tell how messy, because we don't routinely karyotype people. the existence of rare-but-noteworthy conditions like complete androgen insensitivity (frequently reuslting in a chromosomal "male" that is "mis"identified as and lives their whole life as a female) highlight that even within the purely biological realm, sex emerges only as two broad clusters, not as two clearly divided bins. moreover, a trans person who has been taking cross-sex hormones for many years is in a sort of willingly-imposed intersex state. so saying a trans woman is a "biological male" or a trans man is a "biological female" (especially if they have had an orchiectomy or hysterectomy and can no longer produce gametes of their respective assigned sex at birth) is sort of funny--we're privileging an (assumed) chromosomal arrangement over the biological facts on the ground. and while DNA does control a lot about how our bodies grow and develop, it can in fact be overridden! otherwise, cosmetic surgery, or hair dye, or LASIK surgery would all be exercises in futility.

"gender" is sometimes also talked about as a set of internal experiences. you "feel like" or "identify as" a particular gender. and while it's certainly plainly true for some people (both cis and trans), it seems not to be true of everybody (cis or trans), and for other people it's hard to say. not everybody has perfect access to their own feelings all the time. people get told they're lying about what they feel when that's socially inconvenient for other people. and internal states are impossible to measure or verify. they're also often pretty hard to put into words, and we mostly can access them only indirectly, by sidling up to them, or by trying to find other people whose experiences/thoughts/feelings seem to resonate with our own.

so i don't have a definition of gender for you, or an etiology, or even a very robust account. sorry! but i also think that anybody trying to tell you they do is operating from an understanding so narrow that they don't even begin to understand its limits.

heyyyy I don't recall if you've ever mentioned using a beta for any of your fics, but can I ask you about your editing process? How you start it, how you do it, what sort of things are you are on high alert for, etc?

I'm 23k into my first hockeyrpf fic, which is kinda *out there* and I'm now grappling with "woah is this even intelligible to other fans" 😅

What a fun question!! First of all, congrats on being 23K in. That's so many Ks! It's such a fun fandom to write in, I'm glad you're joining the fun. 😄

I don't use a beta. I used to, but I'm too impatient for it -- I always want to edit my fics right away and get them out there. So I do my own editing. I don't know how useful this will be for you, since everyone's writing process is so different, but here's how mine works!

First, I write a complete draft. I'll sometimes backtrack if I realize I've taken a wrong turning, but otherwise, I try not to worry too much about quality in the draft. I write from start to finish because otherwise I can't hold onto where I am in the emotional arc. Getting to the end and having the tension resolve is a huge motivator for me.

Once I have a complete draft, I usually do a full editing pass. I save a copy and go back to the beginning and read through the whole thing, editing and rewriting as I go. It's actually impossible for me to read my own draft without editing, which is hugely inconvenient sometimes (e.g. if I step away for a bit and need to refresh myself on the story, it takes forever because I find myself editing as I reread).

A lot of what I edit for is rhythm. I can't quite accurately gauge the rhythm of a scene while I'm writing it, especially if the scene is a conversation; I need to give myself a little distance and then reread for that. I do a lot of adding lines and taking others away to make things flow the way I want them to. I especially watch for if a scene builds too fast and doesn't earn its level of intensity, or if a scene drags and can be trimmed.

Another big one is, am I overstating emotions? Sometimes this means I'm repeating myself, and sometimes it means I'm being too direct about angst etc. when it would be stronger to dial it back and let the reader extrapolate. A lot of times when I'm writing I put in lines that state very directly how the character is feeling, mostly as a way of figuring out what that is, but that's really for me and not the reader, so I take those parts out. Or sometimes I'll put in a line or a feeling and realize I want to use it later on, so it'll be in both places in the draft and I'll take out the earlier one in editing.

I guess the biggest question I'm asking myself when editing is, does this ring true? Anything that feels fake or forced or convoluted or disconnected or illogical gets edited out the best I can.

Other things I look for:

clunky sentences (so many)

using the same word more than once in close succession ("even" and "just" are big ones for me, as are "soft" and "warm" in any sex or romance scene)

using the same sentence structure too many times in a row (she typed a thing, her words wording <- my biggest offender)

having characters smile or grin or laugh too many times in close succession

places where it's not clear which "he" I'm talking about (down with epithets, just repeat the name or rephrase)

places where I use too many dialogue tags (confession, I use them way more often than I need to for intelligibility; I just like the rhythm, and "he says" is neutral enough to my ear that I don't mind the unnecessary usage)

continuity errors, often where I changed something in one place while writing and forgot to change it elsewhere

weird metaphors I thought would work but don't

Usually one pass is not enough, since I'll have rewritten so much that then needs to be edited again. Two editing passes is arguably not enough either, but it's usually the limit of what I'll do. Sometimes if a story is very tricky I'll do more, or if it's very straightforward I might stop at one. It's kind of a vicious cycle: if I reread my edits, I'll want to edit again, and there's no real stopping it without just deciding it's good enough and you can be done. This is one reason I often post in chapters, because it's easier to do this with a smaller chunk of story.

Her views on slavery (specially considering the role of the duegar, deep gnomes and goblins on the story, and the fact that she used to capture slaves)? For her, slavery was a practical means of governance. Surviving in the Underdark had always been a nightmare, and resources had always been scarce. The war between races never ceased, and the racial hatred was too deep to be buried.

Among the three mentioned races, she preferred deep gnomes > goblins > duergars (if she gets to choose, she wouldn’t keep duergars. They are too much trouble), mainly because they were easier to discipline. She also liked Orogs for their combat abilities. However, she often found her people being wasteful by mutilating their slaves. "Did they think people came every day in tour groups for us to capture?" The soldiers often complained when they saw nobles wasting good slaves.

Does she have scratch and/or the owlbear cub at the camp? Their camp have both, Shadowheart and many others want them.

Was she ever devoted to Lolth, considering she was raised by the church? How does she work with her faith? She had prayed every day for as long as she could remember until she left Menzoberranzan. But Lolth's many eyes never took notice of her. She had never received any favor or trials. She was the unchosen and while other girls became priestesses, she became a soldier and was sent to Melee-Magthere. It wasn't surprising though; she had devoted herself solely to Chessintra, her godmother, the high priestess of her church, and her only love at the time, rather than being devout to Lolth. Still, she memorized vast amounts of prayers and scriptures, sufficient for her to become a missionary if she wishes to. Personality wise she also lacked ambition and was too loyal for Lolth's taste, all of which rendered her prospects bleak. Zilvera herself, however, hadn't minded much. She had seen too many rise in station only to be brutally assassinated or undergo trials only to lose everything and be turned into driders.

You said she was not as sexist as most of her kin, but what about race? She does hold racial stereotypes, but her final judgment is based on her own observation of the individuals. Zilvera despise cowards, and only those willing to fight could earn her respect. She has a soft spot for those who —despite their fear— showed courage and were willing to fight at all costs. For example, she was quite fond of Barcus and the Ironhands. She felt similarly towards Astarion. She wanted to see them succeed and wouldn't mind lending a hand if the situation arose.

She also took pride in being a drow. She was angered when she saw Minthara behaving in such a manner at Moonrise. She felt insulted, it was a disgrace to their people for her.

How is she, as the leader of the group? Zilvera is a neutral mediator, executing everyone's requests in the way they wanted. She has little interest in taking sides, preferring to observe because her priority and interest lie in understanding the values of the surface world. However, she does try to avoid conflicts within the troupe.

She acts as a commander only on the battlefield. With plenty of experience leading squads of slaves and soldiers—which usually it's members don't get along—She finds it intolerable to witness the group's disarray. She uses the worm to give orders in combat. The friction of her giving orders was quickly smoothed out because the fights led by her were efficient and fluent. She hardly ever rests; at night, she scouts and gathers intel on terrain and enemies. She would return to camp to trance for 2-4 hours at midday if the sun is too bright (the damn fireball makes her dizzy). As for conversations, she prefers to listen rather than talk, unless she has a specific agenda to steer the situation in a certain direction.

Ella definitely thinks she's beautiful. Perfect cocktail of striking features that are mostly Valyrian (bless my poor valyriaboo daughter) & a pretty solid amount of "you are a hot girl" reinforcement during her teen & young adult years that has her fully convinced that she's the hot girl (& she's not wrong, she's gorgeous imo). That said, her confidence isn't necessarily super linked to the whole "I am pretty" thing, it's tied to her dragon & that will not change. Claiming Vermithor was The Big Thing that Ella needed to unlock her full potential as a confident, very intense, kind of insane bad bitch (in training for part of it, because she was 10 at the time). Like, she wouldn't have had the confidence needed to enhance most of her hotness without Jumbo Peepaw.

And, just because of how her mom raised her, she would think she's worthy of romance & true love even if she didn't think she was hot...but she does think she's hot so that just has her believing she's worthy of everything she wants all the time forever.

So Lady Rhea definitely 100% loved her 3 kids unconditionally. And Prince Daemon...the thing is, he just sort of didn't engage with Ella. Like, he loved her more as a concept & then just only ever had surface level interactions (especially when she did something that impressed him).

A lot of his "conditional love" requirements were things Ella assigned to him. In a sort of "my daddy will pay attention to me if I do [x], am [y] have [z]." And she wasn't wrong, but she wasn't right either. Doing stuff to get his attention & make him proud just got his attention for a few days & that's really it, then we were back to not engaging a lot because "I don't know what girls like. Girls like their brothers, right? Dragons? I know Rhaella likes dragons."

This is where we get the dragon kinning, "my confidence is having Vermithor," valyriaboo mentality 😅. Weird combination of "my mom made sure I loved myself & knew my worth, & she told me every day how much she loved me" & "my dad did not pay a whole lot of attention to me, but he imparted his weird issues while denying me my gods given right to be a daddy's girl"

I have a bit of an auditory processing issue when it comes to listening to music with lyrics (the words just go into my brain and get blended up into nothingness) so I tend to just listen to a lot of orchestral/cinematic soundtracks and select music purely off of vibes the sound gives off.

I saw your fictionkin post and would like to share my experience.

I am a polykin, of therian, otherkin, and fictionkin. However one of my "main" kins is Draculaura from monster high. I am canon divergent, I am not like the canon draculaura, however I am her if that makes sense. It gets hard to talk about because I am also active in the MH fandom tags itself as I collect the dolls. It's nerve wracking, to say the least. However I embrace that part of my identity as it is quite hard to hide considering being a fictionkin of her influences parts of me for some reason. I have heard of other fictionkin from Monster High as well, although I find it hard to reach out because of how different I am than the canon draculaura. To be fair I feel like I am also one of the only active MH kins as a lot of anonymous things are from me.

That's really cool!! I understand being a bit canon-divergent, especially in a series with several iterations of the characters (from what I can tell. I watch a lot of MH doll tiktoks but I've never actually seen the show). And hey, even non-fiction kin can be quite different from their actual kin/species (I know I am 😅). First off, TRIGGER WARNING, in this post I will be talking about trauma related to war, torture, and mental illness/PTSD as a result of these things. I won't be going in depth about anything specific but just in case I'm giving ya'll a heads up!

So the reason I came to Earth is mostly clear to me. In my other life I am fighting and leading two separate but also interconnected wars and as a result I've been through a lot of shit. I haven't yet remembered what was going on right before I came to Earth but I know how I was feeling. Angry mostly, like an angsty traumatized teen lashing out at everyone around them lol. I wasn't getting anywhere. In my other life I had gone through one traumatic event after another and then I threw myself into a war against some very powerful beings - I rarely had opportunities to stop and just process what I was going through. Which brings me to Earth. Stopping, processing, going through my emotions and transmuting all that trauma into something that's actually useful. Like I said in my previous post, in order to process all this I have to remember it or at least parts of the traumatic events. And let me tell ya, it has been...eventful trying to receive mental health treatment for PTSD from my other life. The memories started flooding in when I was about 10 years old in the form of nightmares/night terrors. Really graphic nightmares at that. It was difficult as an 11 year old to deal with nightmares about war and torture, one of the worst being when my twin flame/sister was murdered in front of me (that's how I got the scar over my left eye). The biggest way all of this has affected me is that my human brain has a hard time dealing with all this PTSD from things that few humans have ever experienced - things the human brain has not evolved to deal with. I'm on medication to help my mind cope with all this. One of which that has been super helpful is prazosin which reduces the frequency and intensity of nightmares. I still receive traumatic memories through my dreams but with the medication I'm able to actually work through them instead of being disabled by them. A lot of spiritual people will tell you that Earth is like spirit school where souls come to learn and sometimes I joke that me coming to Earth to deal with my issues is like a PTSD survivor going to the psych ward - Earth being my psych ward 😅

I'm sorry if this post was dark or upsetting but for me being otherkin isn't just fun and exciting, it's also angsty and messy and a little ugly. Anyone else have trauma related to their kintype? It'd be nice to know that I'm not the only one XD I'll try to make my next post lighter promise

If you were to ask the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry student body who Aelia Knight the Second is, you’d receive mixed responses stemming from her being the most fearsome Slytherin, to her being a secret softie, and going as far to say she did not belong in the same house that Salazar Slytherin founded. Her professors, on the other hand, would tell you that Aelia is easily the most naturally gifted witch of her year- and could give even Hermione a run for her money.

Regardless of her own peers’ thoughts concerning herself and her sorting ceremony, Aelia did not stray away from the core values of the Slytherin house. Her friends and family meant everything to the ‘Quiet Knight’ and she would do absolutely anything to ensure their happiness, safety, and wellbeing. In truth, Aelia would admit she tended to be passive aggressive, ruthless at times, and down right annoyed with the stupidity of the student body at her school.

Aelia grew up surrounded by other Pureblood families, including the Weasley’s, which enriched her childhood with great character development. By the time Aelia was fourteen, Fred and George often joked that she was practically a mother raising four children already, and if you were to ask her who her favorite kin of the Weasley bunch was? She’d answer with either Charlie or Percy every time.

Aelia didn’t care much for friends, aside from the ones she grew up with, and being sorted into Slytherin didn’t make that feeling go away. Most of her housemates refused to believe she was sorted correctly, especially due to her loyalty to blood traitors, even if she showed how resourceful and cunning she was. As the years flew by and rumors swirled regarding her family, some still refused to believe she was sorted into the right house. The only ally she made in Slytherin was Adrian Pucey, who coincidentally was also the only Slytherin Quidditch team member who refused to cheat during the games.

Ironically, Aelia couldn’t stand the sport almost all of her friends were fascinated with. She’d much rather spend her time being educated and being a prefect and later on headgirl- much to the dismay of two Weasley’s in her year.

A/N: Entering the chat is the grunge baddie herself, Aels!! No because Aelia is actually one of my favorite OCs ever, and I know I say that about every single one but I love all of my bbies (even though I put them all through hell 😅). She is straight up the definition of ‘I hate everyone, but you’ and I take no criticism. I think once I finally get to posting my fanfic (and post the Golden Trio Era part of it), Aelia might become everyone’s favorite of my OCs. I also don’t think anyone is expecting who she gets with tbh which just makes me cackle maniacally because it’s literally one of my favorite ships (up there w Wolfstar and Deamus to say the least). Anyways, I’m sorry I haven’t actually posted anything related to my OCs or headcanons all summer. Ik I don’t have a following yet, but I still feel obligated to apologize. The summer and winter months are so chaotic and busy for me because of work, my family, my friends, and my health that I literally do not have energy for anything besides reading and video games. I was the anon that asked for Caryll and Rom! Thank you, I didn't expect a lot of doodles! I already have a theory on how Caryll lost their arm, but I'll see about that. Meanwhile, what do you think of the rarest dynamics between the scholars (Laurence/Rom, Micolash/Caryll)? Micolash/Rom, Micolash/Laurence, Laurence/Caryll and Caryll/Rom feel obvious, but I haven't seen the other two explored anywhere. If you were the first to give me some ideas, I'd feel honored.

Alright in my drawing with Caryll & Rom at the hamlet, Caryll didn't actually loose an arm but just got injured and it will heal. And it will heal better than everyone else trauma xD but I do headcanon Caryll will eventually loose their eye(s) 😅 I'm sorry all of this might sound really bad. Ok now! Concerning Laurence and Rom relationship I do have a few ideas of course! In my main headcanon, Rom is Willem's daughter and Laurence was kinda adopted by him so... yeah I have ideas.

As for Caryll and Micolash I didn't really think about it 😐 for me they just have close common friends (part of the same friends group by default) and had classes together . But hey you give me a few ideas!

Laurence and Rom :

Ok so like I mentioned they both been raised by Willem.

Laurence's parents were ex students and associate with Willem and his wife before the 3 passed away ;-; so in the end he kinda adopted Laurence at like 10-12years. He's like check note 6 years older than Rom I think? They don't have a "typical" siblings relationships too. More like if you would have a step sibling but they do appreciate each other a lot and Laurence knew how to be quite protective towards her too. And Rom really appreciate him as well he's a great model to follow (except when he was in his first few students years at uni XD).

During Rom scholarship he did had to teach her 1 or 2 classes perhaps but stayed really neutral. For the other classes (taught by other profs) he did give her a hand when she had difficulties.

When the healing church became to take forms Rom was basically going back and forth between him (in Yharnam) and Willem (at Byrgenwerth) before the big separation. But even after she did help him a lot at the research hall, the choir, the church expeditions in the chalice dungeons etc. SHe also became the 2nd choir leader after Caryll too so yeah Laurence trusted her.

And he probably feel quite conflicted and perhaps a bit bad when she transformed into a kin much later.

Now to have a bit of angst in their mostly great relationship :

Rom was kinda envious by the fact that Laurence is like the perfect son Willem never had.

On the contrary Laurence is a bit envious that he will never be Willem’s son properly. He can’t treat him as a real « father » and don’t want to be treat like a son either. « You’re nit my dad!! » kind of shouting you know.

In my main headcanon I don't headcanon Rom & Mico as siblings but it is an interpret I really appreciate too! + yes it is true Mico English VA is similar to Willem like I mentioned to some friends a while ago. (I didn't play with it too lol I love the French dub too much XD) oh and Mico still live a few years-months with them so they all know each other since childhood.

Caryll and Micolash

I guess they could bond on runes meaning, great ones, weird dreams, pthumerians & the tombs under Yharnam, augurs, and a few other things + the classes they might have together.

So yeah I think they became friends and even if they didn't agree on everything everytime they are the more "weird" of the group so it can get quite unhinged discovering stuff XD

i mostly, if not completely associate myself with nya. not on a serious ‘delusional attachment’ level or whatever its called, but just on a “shes my favorite character and i relate so much to her” sorta way. that *used* to be the way i felt about jay, but not that much anymore. i still have remnants of traits i have myself put into jay, and i have put more personal and ‘unwanted’ things onto him (ex; crack baby headcanon, having acne and fucked up teeth, symbolisms that are a part of his design like his hip scars, etc.)

ive just been in the ninjago fandom for so many years, and my favorite characters have become so personalized that i cant really fully let go of everything personal i’ve built onto how i characterize them, especially jay, hence why she probably seems so relatable to me LOL (hes also rly easy for me to draw, so i post him a lot 😅😅)

in modern day, i feel like i relate to nya more, and like being associated w her more!! shes my favorite above all else, and i feel like i dont rly have to hide that anymore ^u^ i dont rly take kinning too seriously anyways so..

on the topic of waterjade i genuinely feel like the hate it receives is rly just ninjago fans pushing their headcanons onto others. almost every single character in the show has a fluid age that isn’t set and confirmed (with hinted acceptions, such as lloyd and nya being the youngest ninja of the bunch) ninjago is a playground full of diverse headcanons and universes, not every single one has to be a set ‘canon’. its okay if one person headcanons that harumi is 14, while others headcanon them as 23 like i personally do. i also feel like wlw ships arent very accepted in the ninjago fandom, but thats my personal speculation!! waterjade is genuinely ok in a general standpoint, theres nothing canonically wrong other then yk, toxic yuriness, but i rly thought people liked that nowadays.

18. Is there some headcanon you've included in more than one fic?

Ohhh this is a tough one, Soulie! Because honestly there's probably a ton that I'm not even aware of, particularly when it comes to Matt Murdock since I have so many different fics and one shots for him now and I tend to view him in a certain way. I don't know if these are all technically headcanons, but I broke them down between Frank, Michael, and Matt below the cut!

Starting with Frank, I think from what I've noticed in my fics is that Frank needs to almost always have a dog when he settles down. And it's obviously got to be a rescue--probably one he saved himself even. I just think a dog would help heal him, okay? I also think there's still a super playful, teasing side to Frank that can still come out after what he's been through when he finally manages to let someone in--but it's like a big deal to see that side of him. And no one else will. Then what I've also noticed in the way I write him across other fics is that he is very guarded when it comes to falling in love or starting another family because he is clearly still mourning his deceased wife and kids. Something that plays a role for sure in Don't Walk Away that is more apparent in part 2 (whenever that gets finished 😅) and in You're Safe With Me.

When it comes to Mikey, I think I tend to write him as unaware of just how toxic and controlling his family is with him. He's aware of some of it, but for the most part I think he thinks it's normal for them to treat him the way they do. Considering what we know of his upbringing, it makes sense. Though he will fiercely protect the person he cares about, even defending them from his family if need be (as you're soon to see in Safe Haven and as seen in I Can't Lose You). And I firmly believe whatever happened with his wife was sheer accident, which will remain true in all my fics with him until Kin gives us the facts (looking at you now BBC).

And for dear Matty...there are three things that stand out for him in how I often write him. A big one is his fierce protectiveness that will become possessive over people he loves because of his trauma from losing people. So he tends to...use his senses to check in on significant others even when they don't know and when he knows he shouldn't be invading their privacy (I notice this recurring in lots of my fics for Matt but I absolutely see him being like this and then beating himself up over it).

And something else that comes to mind straightaway is the way I tend to write smut for Matt. I firmly believe the man can be rough in the bedroom and can enjoy it, especially after a run as the Devil, but I happen to think he prefers something softer and more intimate. The man has been through a lot of trauma in his life and I believe he just wants to be loved (if he would ever let someone). Plus his body must be constantly in pain from what he puts it through when he goes out, and I imagine his senses might make rough sex...a lot sometimes. So I imagine he likes gentle and loving in the bedroom more often than not and that is why I tend to write smut for him a certain way usually. Doesn't mean he doesn't like to make things spicy though 🔥

I also believe he has like zero relationship experience and whatever he gained was from his toxic relationship with Elektra or whatever he learned in college. So he sucks at relationships sometimes which is what adds a lot of irritation to my angsty fics for him. But let's be real, was he dating in that orphanage? Probably not really. Though I'm sure he did other things cause there's no way I believe Matt Murdock was a virgin when he went to Columbia! So I use his romantic inexperience with others as issues in a lot of angst pieces.

I'm sure there are plenty of things I forgot, but that's what I could come up with for this one! And damn did it really get me thinking...
