More doodles from divine highness au. I imagine it would be neat if Harrow was groomed to be Kiriona's advisor. She can rock the evil vizier aesthetic while trying and failing to babysit this spoiled oafish god-prince

changeling danny has his wretched little claws in me so here's some AU fey lore
Okay so, i've got a lot of ideas for the Fey Lore in this au. But to start out what may become a sling of posts: a simplified set up of the Infinite Realms. I think I mentioned it before in a reblog of the original changeling danny post, but the fey wilds exist in the IR. In most fanon I see the same scale as the rest of the realms, however i have a different idea for it.
In simplified terms, the fey wilds and the ghost zone are two different things. They both exist in the Infinite Realms, however, they exist on different planes of existence. In simplified terms, there are three separate planes in the Infinite Realms.
The Long Far: Highest realm in the infinite realms. Home to most, if not all, the Ancients. Beings that reside in The Long Far are eldritch abominations, gods, personifications of concepts, and other celestial-type beings. The only way to access the Long Far is through the Starflare Currents in the Feywilds. Which are a nebula of stars that work similar to the ocean currents in Finding Nemo. They are a rapid vortex full of stars that pass over the feywilds that can be seen at night. In order to reach the Long Far, one must fly up to the Current and latch onto one of the stars rapidly flying past. And then they must stay on the star until the currents begin to ascend rapidly upwards. This is harder than it sounds. Ever been indoor surfing? Where you lie on your stomach on a small board and try not to get flung off? Exact same concept. It’s basically the world’s most terrifying escalator to the gods.
The Fey Wilds: The Fey Wilds isn't exactly strictly home to the Fey, however for convenience sake I'm calling it the Fey Wilds. This is the home to fey and other folklore and mythological creatures that may not want to reside in the Ghost Zone. There are no Fey in the GZ. It's not that they hate being down there, but. well.. they hate being down there. They think the place is ugly. The Fey Wilds has ever shifting, expanding amount of biomes. These biomes range from massive redwood forests, to swamps, to essentially Pandora from Avatar. The place can look almost entirely human one moment, and then like a different planet the next. Fey and other inhabitants know how to navigate this easily -- but ghosts? Not so much. There are currently two known ways to reach the Fey Wilds from the Ghost Zone and vice versa: Lake Portals, and Cave Tunnels. Which I will expand upon in a moment.
Ghost Zone: Exactly how it sounds! The Ghost Zone is, well, the ghost zone! It's essentially the same as canon. Same looks, same everything. This is the home of mortal souls and the occasional mythological creature or two, as well as weaker concept spirits. By that I mean like, ecto-octopi. Concept spirits can manifest in both the GZ and Feywilds. Ghosts tend to stick inside the Ghost Zone and avoid venturing into the Fey Wilds because, well, they're still mortal souls. They're gonna get jumped by a fey looking for a new decoration or a new pet/servant/whatever. Best to honestly avoid the fey wilds as a whole.
Now, I just mentioned that there were two known ways to reach the Fey Wilds from the Ghost Zone: lake portals and cave tunnels. I made goofy little visual aides which I will attach below, and then I will explain how they work.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I'll start with the Lake Portals. They are, well, as the name suggests lake portals. Not every lake in the fey wild is a portal to the ghost zone, and vice versa. They're rather uncommon to find in both planes, but it's not like they're hard to recognize.
In the Fey Wilds, lake portals will have a sheen over the water like an oil spill. But instead of the regular rainbow-y colors, it will instead have the ghost zone's colors swirling in it; green and purple. The water will have that sickly green tint to it, and have a slight glow. The plant life surrounding the water are not typically what you'd find in the Fey Wilds, but might in the Ghost Zone. They look different from the regular noxious swamp bogs in the wilds, so its easy to tell that they're lake portals.
In the Ghost Zone, the lake portals will instead be shimmery and blue like a tropical ocean. And just like how there are GZ plants in the fey wilds surrounding the water, there's fey wild plants on the island where the lake is.
How these portals work is rather simple. You dive in and begin swimming down. It's a long swim down, but that's all you gotta do. It will get dark, as there are no plant life in these portals, and no aquatic life either.
It starts getting complicated when you reach what I like to call the border. The border is as the name implies; its a border between the planes. In the lakes it's not physical, however you will feel when you've reached the border and crossed it. Intense vertigo washes over you as your sense of gravity begins to shift and flip; up is becoming down, down is becoming up.
Your goal at this point is to try and push through that vertigo and discomfort and make it to the other side of the border, without getting flipped upside down and swimming back to the surface you came from. This is harder than it sounds as you become dizzy underwater, and since there's no light anywhere, you will try and instinctively seek it out and follow it. You're down too deep to know where that light is.
Once you've reached the other end of the border successfully, your gravity will have flipped without you needing to do anything. You are now swimming up to the surface, and once you do, boom! You're in the ghost zone! Lake Portals are faster to use than tunnels, but very disorientating.
Now cave tunnels are longer, but simpler. Essentially some caves have tunnels that lead into the ghost zone, similar to how in greek mythology there are random entrances to the underworld in the mortal world. I haven't exactly figured out what the tell is for when you're in a tunnel leading to the Ghost Zone, but I know that when it's the other way around it's rather easy -- as you start to climb up.
It's a less complicated explanation: essentially you are descending into the ghost zone through this tunnel. You are on your way down like Orpheus in search of his wife, or like Heracles doing his twelve labors. It can get claustrophobic and of course there is the border.
Unlike experiencing a shift in gravity, you're instead hit with the intense vertigo and an intrinsic fear to turn around. It's an instinctual response to your surroundings changing on a molecular level, and your body in response is telling you to Flee. Basically, you've taken a rip of the Cave Gasses and you feel like you're losing your mind. Once you exit the border its smooth sailing.
Sometimes you get unlucky and there's a Pit Drop and you're suddenly Alice in Wonderlanding your way down to the Ghost Zone. But hey! At least you're not swimming.
those are currently the only two ways i've come up with for traveling between the GZ and Fey Wilds. But all in all, it's meant to be very disorientating stuff; vertigo and nausea-inducing, with just a dash of Existentially Terrifying. Traveling between planes usually is.

Wiggly Worm Wednesday!! 🧠🪱
tagged by @little-annie this Wednesday, @pearynice and @hotluncheddie last time, @queenie-ofthe-void (and hotluncheddie again💕) the time before, and @carolperkinsexgirlfriend the time before that. Thank you guys so much for tagging me even when i can't get to it right away 💖💗💝
Lately I've been kinda swamped with fic commitments and rushing stuff last-minute (my own fault ofc 😅) writing mostly romance, so now im just itching to go back to my platonic stuff! nothing against romance, im enjoying writing it for sure, but god i can't wait to work on my Steve Henderson au again
for now tho the probably-never-to-be-written worms are about Steve bunking with the Buckleys post s4. maybe his parents just never came home, maybe they were there and had a big blowup argument with Steve about leaving, but they're not around now and Robins not about to let Mr Walking-Sepsis-Risk live alone for the apocalypse
in my head i imagine the buckleys house is kinda like max's before s4, a smaller 1-story but cozy, and no guest room so Steve stays in Robin's room.
her parents let them but they're definitely a little wary and a little lost but at least a little used to it, both thanking whatever power they believe in that no matter how freakishly clingy they are now, its still world's better than the violently freakishly clingy stobin was right after starcourt, when both of them looked to be hanging on by a thread and that thread was each other.
so they're like. chill. they plow through an awkward conversation about how bad an idea it would be to be up to something right now with steves injuries and robin sees herself out like halfway through, piling all the old stuffed animal onto her bed and keeping them there for the next week to avoid thinking about it. And Steve, abandoned by his partner in crime, stumbles through his own awkward explanation along the lines of 'you don't have to worry about that, i promise' before joining Robin in her embarrassed cringing-party, featuring notable guests such as Mr. Cat, Doodles, and Floppsy Bunny.
Not much of a plot in my head really, I'm just enjoying all the vague ideas floating around this premise. theres lots of details about Steve and his wounds, like wearing button downs that are easier to put on than pull-overs, Mr. Buckley letting him borrow some when Steve only finds a couple (or when he packs his normal clothes not realizing how miserable itd be to take them on and off constantly to check how things are healing).
Also Steve helping around the house and the Buckley's getting to know him better and not just the Polite Steve that they usually see because Steve couldn't risk his best friends parents not liking him (and because usually robin would go to his house, its a lot easier to sneak out than it is to smuggle someone in, especially with freaky upside down nightmares). Maybe Steve gets to actually joke around with Robin's dad, talk real shit with her mom (maybe about the future, hippie mom offering a different perspective on what life can be, how you can figure things out, just try things even if you don't have a perfect plan)
Steve finding safety not just with Robin, but with Robins family. the four of them growing this sweet relationship, not like a second child for the buckleys but more like a second home for Steve. stobin are firmly strange best friends to me (as opposed to siblings), and i like the dynamic of steve and robin's parents as 'my kids best friend' type stuff, not cause there's any less love but more like they're not trying to replace Steve's parents, they just end up filling in the gaps.
oki tagging presumably for next time (tho if you guys wanna do it late anyway you go for it, time isn't real wahoo): @marvel-ous-m @momotonescreaming @puppy-steve @lightoftheseraph @lingeringmirth

Your dark crystal lu au has me giggling and kicking my feet. I would love to hear more about it!!! What inspired Hyrule to leave the caverns? Are the Zelda's the Madras?
>:D
I wrote a lot so it's going under a read more:
Wanderlust? Wanting to see more of the world? Seeking out a missing princess? A calling? A summons by Aughra? It could be a number of things! I'm still figuring out how I want to integrate the Zelda lore and timeline into that of The Dark Crystal.
What I do know is that I think I want Hyrule to be apprenticing under Aughra. Assistant turned apprentice. He really does do a lot of grunt work. Go here, fetch that, oil the entire orrery, crawl around in the Sog swamps for this one specific plant. But he has a strong connection to the song of Thra and an insatiable desire to listen and learn so Aughra teaches, and gives him tasks most would think crazy, and he stays. She keeps telling him asides about this snarky sharp tongued apprentice she had before who did a bunch of cool stuff but then ran off and is shirking his duties!!! and Hyrule's like, "gee I'd really like to meet this guy you keep comparing me to smh"
As for the Zeldas, yeah! They're the princess and Maudras. These are bound to change but at the moment, the trio Artemis, Dot, and Lullaby are Maudra to the Vapran clan together. Dusk of the Drenchen, Fable is Spriton with strong connections to the Castle of the Crystal, Dawn with the Grottans, and Aurora spends her time with both the Vapran and Grottan clans. I think the Sifa hierarchal structure would be a little looser. Most seek council from the Sifa elders and soothsayers. Tetra's out and about sailing with her crew. When she needs to speak for the clan that's when you know things have really gone to shit. Flora is a princess from an age past who now travels but spends a lot of time with the Vaprans. I'm realizing now I've forgotten Stone-in-the-Wood. I might place Lullaby, Dot, or Flora there instead. Still a wip!
Which leaves Sun. There's Thra, and then Mithra from the Power of the Dark Crystal comics. I don't want to add another clan because there being 7 is significant. But maaaaybe I could just be like, you know what, what if there were just gelfling living on floating islands who have been up there of since the Age of Innocence or Golden Age or whatever and forgotten. And they're not part of any clan necessarily.
What I really need to figure out is the cause for all the guys to be in one place. Do I want time travel and they're all from different eras and are jumping between them like they are in the LU comics and fanworks, do I want a singular timeline and they've all been living congruently the whole time with their own adventures, or do I want some kind of event to have happened which has caused their times to collapse into a singular and now they're all here in one place with their Zeldas? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ there's a lot of possibility! The Dark Crystal already deals a lot with ideas of threes and triangles so three timelines and three virtues for the triforce and there being nine heroes (divisible by three) already works suuuper well.
And then there's the villans. In loz there's Ganon but in TDC the Skeksis are already a formidable adversary. They have a thirst for power and everlasting life that's already pretty interesting. There's the darkening too, which could be a stand in for the idea of Ganon, just like an evil tainting the land instead of an actual person. Idk!
And since I want it to be in Thra, where in the timeline should it be? During the Age of Division before the events of AoR, far far past the events of the later comics in the Second Age of Harmony with Kensho and Thurma, or create something new and rewrite the timeline altogether? lol I need to reread Power of TDC and read the other comics.
There's A LOT but it's fun.

picked up this book called 'murder your employee: the mcmasters guide to homicide vol 1' from my local bookstore and . Hmmm. am i hearing murder academy radiostatic au... (<- delusional)
quick rundown of the books setting (time period vaguely 1950s, before 1962 at the latest) is that there's this murder academy (i say that but its closer to a uni than a boarding school which is typically what i think of when i read academy) open to applicants of all ages to train their students to murder. the admissions fee is an extremely high price, but regular people can enter in via sponsorships (like scholarships, sort of, but its more like a specific rich person sponsoring the candidate). the students don't operate on a regular year by year schedule because 1) no one knows where the school is and thus cannot always tell even what season it is much less the month 2) students are informed of their graduation basically the day of, when the faculty decides theyre ready to leave and complete their thesis project (AKA the murder). anyway its a very fun book and so of course i had to be insane about its premise
For what it was worth, Alastor hadn't meant at all to end up studying at the Hazbin Institution for Homicide Practitioners.
Which, in fairness, was just a fancier way of saying that he hadn't meant to get caught.
It had been a situation entirely out of his control. For whatever reason, that night, the swamp had been especially difficult to navigate- even alone, much less with a bloodied and battered body slung over his shoulder, he's quite certain it would have been a struggle to work his way around the place. And while that had never been a problem the few dozen or so times he'd made the trek before (granted, they were without the actual body in his hands, but it didn't make much of a difference when he'd been carrying heavy sacks of sand to offset the weight), there was an unfortunate caveat in his plan.
He hadn't banked on being seen and followed by a truly infuriating pair of 'detectives' (though surely whatever idea they'd held of a detective was truly and fully siphoned from one of those insipid moving pictures his dear Mimzy was ever so obsessed with), and he hadn't expected to be offered a spot as a student at this... interesting facility.
The smiley man sitting in front of him nods emphatically as Alastor finishes his little cajoling speech. The nametag on his black and red suitjacket reads Dean Morningstar, and a half-poured cup of brandy sits on the side of his table. Alastor eyes the alcohol with interest, if only because looking anywhere else in the room might make him lose composure and attack the bothersome man sitting across from him.
"So, then... Mr. Hartfelt, is it true that your next target was to be your father?"
Alastor narrows his eyes at the dean. The room's atmosphere seems to drop as he holds his gaze, both of them wearing smiles that convey vastly different emotions. "I'm afraid I don't know what you're referring to."
Of course, such a lousy comeback isn't tantamount to a proper argument (unless you're the type who enjoys messing with people, which Alastor is in all moments except this one) and the dean smiles when he realizes Alastor's slip up.
"See, you have an extremely generous patron backing you on your goal... not only to take down your father, who, by the way, seems to owe you quite a lot, considering your less than stellar upbringing and childhood, so good luck with that one, but also in relation to the other bodies that have been found half-submerged in the swamp." The little devil smiles merrily. "Sorry about that one, by the way. But we had to be sure you were a good candidate for our very highly revered course list. I mean... your sponsor is paying a lot of money to see you succeed, so... we had to be pretty thorough. Again, sorry, but it's just standard protocol."
Alastor clenches his jaw, feeling his eye twitch. He'd more or less tuned out whatever else Dean Morningstar had said after he admitted to resurfacing the already weeks old bodies in the swamp- Alastor's very first targets- as a means of... assessing him, apparently. "So you're the reason the bodies have started turning up in the bayou...?"
"Not entirely," Dean Morningstar shrugs, providing no further context. "In any case, this is sort-of a caught with pants down situation, I think. You don't have many options, Mr. Hartfelt. Either you stay as a student, or we let the truth out- and let your mother know first, before getting rid of you."
He grins sunnily at Alastor. "What will it be, young man?"
So, that was that.
Following that conversation (blackmailing session) Alastor finds himself being the unwitting recipient of a campus guide by the dean himself, who, despite his short stature and seemingly accomodating personality, had already managed to make himself an enemy in the form of one (1) incredibly vexed young radio host slash serial killer in the making.
"...And that's the Music Hall, where my vice-dean and most beloved wife holds her concerts and lectures on Murder, as a Fine Arts- you may notice the ingenious references there to one Mr. Thomas De Quincey, the famed opium eater of the 1800s London..." Alastor turns a blind eye to the dean as the man just kept on talking, choosing instead to focus on the surroundings instead of the urge to strangle the annoyance beside him.
The trip to the Hazbin Institution for Homicide Practitioners- a mouthful and an incredibly unnecessary one at that- had been less a trip to a school and more like a kidnapping, in which Alastor had been more or less blackmailed into going with the two detectives who'd found him in the bayou that day and then drugged to high hell from some sort of tampered liquor, then promptly deposited in front of the school gates and almost fed broken glass twice before nearly being poisoned and then having to sit through another blackmailing session with the Dean (the guy who'd tried to poison him in the first place). So... all in all, a rather unpleasant experience on his end.
Still, the scenery almost made up for it.
The campus was almost the size of his town back home, and towering gothic buildings from before his time populated the grounds. Signs in different languages were littered around the campus grounds, and exotic foliage grew in just the right places to make the patchwork of cobbled streets and oddly vintage buildings look uniform.
"Oh, Vox! How are you this afternoon?"
Alastor's attention is drawn back to the dean as the man greets a young man dressed in formal evening attire, complete with a pocket square boutonniere and sleek black gloves. The man in question has short-ish black hair, tied back into a small ponytail with a deep blue ribbon, and two striking eyes: one a glassy larimar blue and the other the deep brown of axinite gems. Alastor finds himself regarding the other while he and the dean make simple conversation. Something about him strikes him as familiar, though he can't quite put a finger on it exactly. "Going to the Music Hall, I presume?"
"That would be correct, Sir," Vox inclines his head respectfully. "Professor Leviathan asked us to dress for the occasion, since we would be doing another ballroom class."
"Ballroom class?" Alastor raises an eyebrow, and the man startles, seemingly not having noticed he was there. Rather inept for an assassin-to-be, Alastor frowns. Were these really the sorts of students they were training? Pretty-faced civilians knowing nothing of killing, who dressed up in evening gather for afternoon classes?
"A-ah, yes..." Vox looks off to the side, seemingly nervous. His cheeks redden slightly, like a child caught in the act of stealing candy. "Uh. You're new here, right? I haven't seen you around before..."
"He is," Dean Morningstar confirms, beaming. "Just arrived this morning, with a very generous sponsor backing him. In fact, he's going to be rooming at Pride House because of the sponsor!"
"Oh, is that so?"
Vox's easy confidence seems to come back to him as he turns to Alastor, seemingly mollified by the Dean's interference. Something inside of Alastor wants to see the man nervous again, if only because the uneasy approach of the man with the gemstone eyes reminded him of the shaky-footed does he would fake out during hunts. "Well, in that case, we might be roommates. It's nice to meet you, Mister...?"
"Hartfelt. Alastor Hartfelt," Dean Morningstar says before Alastor can introduce himself, smiling even when Alastor directs a glare at the man. "He's quite the upstart, I'll have you know- Hell, I think he may have set more fires on his first day here than you did!"
Vox chuckles awkwardly, a reaction that has Alastor's eyebrows raising with curiosity. "Well, I'd sure hope not. I really wouldn't want to cause Professor Leviathan any more trouble than we already have. He deserves a bit of a break from troublemakers like us, I'd say."
While Alastor is... okay, not really all that sure what exactly Dean Morningstar was referring to with 'fires started'- in his case, they were all non literal, considering his first arrival here had ended with him on the wrong end of a shotgun (its irony was not lost to him now, three hours later and standing in the middle of what looked to be a town square plucked straight out of Vienna's bustling populace despite the fact that they were in a location completely unknown to the rest of the world)... but whatever this man had done... it intrigued him, especially given Vox's reaction to it.
"Anyway..." Vox smiles once more, inclining his head in a bow. "I really do have to get going now. If I don't, I'm afraid I may be late, and Professor Asmodeus always picks on the latecomers to answer questions first."
"Ah, we won't keep you any longer, then," Dean Morningstar agrees genially. "Have a good afternoon, Mister Vanhal!"
"You too, Dean Morningstar, Mister Hartfelt," Vox bows once more, before turning off and heading in the direction of the Music Hall. Alastor regards the other man's retreating silhouette carefully.
"Is there something you want to say, young man?" Dean Morningstar snaps him out of his reverie, covering the faint smirk on his face with a gloved hand.
While Alastor wishes he could simply meet the other with simple derision, there is a question he had been meaning to ask. "What was the evening get up for?"
Dean Morningstar shrugs, but there's a glint of something Alastor doesn't quite like in his eyes. "Why don't you go and ask Vox yourself, if you're so interested?"
"...I'm surprised your staff haven't tried to murder you yet," Alastor responds shortly. He's much too tired and frustrated to entertain the man, and- well, frankly put, his mind is a little distracted at the moment at the thought of the man with the mismatched eyes.
Dean Morningstar laughs. "They're certainly welcome to try, as are you. After all, you're now a student of the Hazbin Instution for Homicide Practitioners- and we pride ourselves on our hands-on, engaging curriculum. Hopefully, your sponsor finds what they're looking for by sending you here."
"Hopefully," Alastor agrees. After all, there's nothing else to say: from here on out, it seems to be do or die.

The space where Dregwyn County once occupied had been drenched in a deep, black ink. Any carefully drawn details or delicate lettering was obscured—consumed even. Dregwyn County was a place long forgotten, like many others, just a mere memory lost to the wind. The Bleeding Lands Map was sacred to the Sisters of the Veil, a map of all of history and all that was to come. Massive and weathered, edges fraying, it dominated the chamber room. Looking upon it was like a prayer come to life, a record of life lost since The Blight. Regions were marked with faded names, and where cities had fallen, it was replaced with a lathering of ink, as if one had taken a brush and erased the entire region from existence. The lands the Sisters had once healed were shrinking, drawn back into the grasp of the Bloodworms.
You reached out, finger tracing across the small metal pins pressed into the void which was once Dregwyn County. Each pin was painted black, a record of each sister lost as the region fell. It did not mark the other innocents lost, the families and workers. No, the map could not hold the number of pins needed to represent the loss since the Bloodworm Blight would simply be left as a mountain of metal. The frayed paper turned to ribbons under each prick and pierce.
Your heart tightened as you gazed at the pins, noting how the map grew smaller each passing year, even within the short years she had called Cloisterwood home. Once vast and thriving, the safe lands were now reduced to small pockets of resistance. The cities had become refuges, safe from the Bloodworms, but there were fewer and fewer of them. And the countryside? The places that had once supported civilisation? They were lost. All lost.
Your gaze swept away from the North, away from the void of dark ink that obscured the borderlands. The Bloodworms pressed in from the west, attacking the small towns and farmers that remained in the red-soiled swamps. The South… well, the South was no better than the North. The Blight rampaged through the plains, thriving in the open where their hosts could make rapid ground, and there were fewer and fewer places for the survivors to hide. No, the one true last fortress of the lands was the East. The Bloodworm Blight was rampant but controllable. Cities offered protection and purpose, and the Sisters of the Veil were always nearby. Colourfully painted pins dotted those Eastern areas, each representing an active sister who was out healing.
You would soon be one of those colourful pins.
You had completed your training after six years with the Sisterhood of the Veil, or the Faceless as you were often referred to. Healing, Alchemy, even good manners if Sister Niva could get a word in. Six years later, you were ready to be sent out into the world, a world that you had blissfully forgotten. Would the memories of Dregwyn blind you with grief? Or would you grit your teeth, bury those feelings and continue? It would have to be the latter if you had learnt anything; this bleeding world was not one to hesitate in.
The large doors opening echoed through the room, startling you as you backed away a few steps from The Bleeding Lands Map.
“Sister, it is time.” The Sister’s expression was unreadable beneath her veil, the black lace shrouding her features. Some had even called your Sisterhood wraiths, women who walked the line between life and death—faceless women who stood in the face of evil.
You nodded, rushing to leave the small confines of the Map Chamber.  The sister at the door, Sister Elara, you could recognise her by her voice alone, grasped your shoulder as you attempted to pass.
“Once you enter, I will not see you again. You will choose a name from the bowl and leave for the place immediately.” Her voice sounded oddly strained, tight and nasally. You tilt your head beneath your own veil. It was unlike the Sister Elara to convey such evident emotion. “It has been an honour, my acolyte. I trust you will do well out there.”
“And it has been my honour to be taught by you.” Your voice caught in your throat as you spoke, a sad smile playing across your obscured lips. Six years with this woman, your mentor, your rock… and yet you had never seen her face. When you closed your eyes, you would only be met with the image of who you thought she could be. Was she brunette or blonde? Did she have dimples when she smiled, crooked teeth? Did her hair curl in the rain, and were her eyes a mismatch of green and blue?
All you would ever know was her voice, soft-spoken and steady. You could only hope that in your last moments, you could cling to those memories, the two of you tucked away in the stuffy, incense-smoke-filled studies of Cloisterwood, how her delicate hands had guided yours, showing you how to stitch a wound or brew a potion.
“I who have known death,” The Sister Elara choked out, hand raising to her left shoulder as she cut a motion diagonally downwards, the repeated on her right as she drew out an X across her chest.
“I who have known the end.” You reply, repeating the motion.
There was a sinking feeling as you stepped into the corridor, blindly walking towards the ascension room. A sinking feeling that Sister Elara already knew you were being sent to your death. A mother's intuition, maybe, a knowing within her soul as her faceless acolyte stepped into the beyond. For all the death you had known, it would be nothing compared to the fate that awaited you in the western swampland stronghold of Redhollow.

Do you ever think about what BJ, Charles and/or Potter might've been like if they'd been early season additions?
Oooh inchresting question :3c
I think Charles could actually fit in in early season MASH pretty easily and well. DOS is very very funny, and he'd be a nice compliment to Frank. Like I think they would actually play off each other really well in really funny ways, I think Charles would fully manipulate Frank while being slightly disgusted by him and they'd have a really funny dynamic as antagonists, I can fully imagine the way Larry Linvelle and DOS would play off each other and I wish it existed 🥲 In my ideal world, he'd be the fourth Swamp Rat, and the uneasy FrankCharles vs TrapHawk rivalry would free Margaret up for the sort of independent story lines she got after Frank left in the actual series. I'm not sure Charles himself would necessarily have the room for the softer character moments he got in the series in this scenario, but just on a character dynamics level I can fully imagine him fitting into the vibe of S1-3.
(This actually gave me a bit of a fic idea for this AU where Charles steals a weekend pass to Tokyo TrapHawk scammed off of Henry, and like we cut between Charles impersonating Hawkeye as he tries to get back to the hospital he worked at before being at the 4077th to beg for his old job and keeps running into people who vaguely know Hawkeye and Trapper trying to track him down and reluctantly talking him into coming back before he's caught and arrested for deserting his post, maybe with them getting one night of bonding over unseemly cavorting before going back...)
Potter, if Henry was still the CO, could actually be kind of an interesting recurring character I think? Like after The Trial of Henry Blake maybe the higher ups want a tighter more military eye on the 4077th, and Potter fills that roll of the outsider who doesn't quite get the madness and wants to impose some discipline on the camp- whether he then gets trolled or won over, eh. I think he could work, and it would be fun to see him interact with some of the characters, but I'm less interested in him than hypothetical early season Charles.
BJ I think would be the hardest fit- because he is, before anything else, a replacement Trapper and if Trapper is already there... Well, Charles can still be an antagonist even if Frank is there, but can BJ really join the TrapHawk axis without third wheeling? I think he'd ultimately suffer a similar fate as Oliver, where the writers wouldn't know what to do with him apart from letting him tag along... And I don't think he'd cause enough friction or drama to be interesting in that regard, you know? He'd be like a lot of the recurring characters we see in the early seasons- a nice guy our heroes like, but I don't think he'd work as a compliment to Frank and he wouldn't bring enough spice to be an interesting addition to TrapHawk since he and Trapper would both be filling the "best friend" role... I mean now I'm thinking on how you COULD make him work, maybe leaning fully into his stochastic prankster side and having him be a third power against both TrapHawk and FrankMarg, or giving him a new buddy to ally with and play off of like Radar or Klinger, but I just think he'd be the trickiest to fit in you know?

Fic Writer Interview
Saw Topsy did this and it looked like fun so now Imma pester y'all with one.
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
35, currently, and only 1 is for a fandom other than The Lego Movie lmao
2. What’s your total AO3 word count?
496,195 over the course of 6 years
3. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
1- Reboot To be honest, I'm kind of baffled by this one. I started it just when covid was really starting to take off, lost where I was going with it before I was even halfway through writing it because I got SO swamped with work that writing was taken off the stove entirely for a while, and a lot of it was honestly just half-assed to get it finished but so many people LOVE it. I don't think I'll ever stop scratching my head about it, but at this point I've just accepted that it's my most popular fic ever. 2- Atonement Still ongoing and without a clear ending in mind yet. I had 2 ideas I was wanting to play with when I started it- wingfic, and house arrest. I've been having fun with it so far. 3- Prizes, Plunder, and Adventure This one was actually written based on a friend's doodles & half-finished ideas. I took them & ran with them as far as I could lol. I'm honestly happy that this one's in my top 5. 4- Hot Spring Another one that I'm kind of baffled by. It's a oneshot that's barely over 400 words. People like their coppernauts fluff, I guess lol 5- Time Travel Troubles This one was based on a prompt a friend gave me when I complained that I wanted so badly to write but had 0 ideas, lol. Of all my oneshots, I'm glad this one made it into my top 5.
4. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
Most of the time! Sometimes I can't think of a response though, and once I got overwhelmed with like 25 comments on one fic in one night from the same person so my brain kind of short-circuited lol. I definitely read and cherish every single one though.
5. What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?
I don't really do angst tbh, so none of my fics really have angsty endings.
6. What’s the fic you’ve written with the happiest ending?
That's a tough one to pick, I always write happy endings. XD; I guess I'll go with Starting Over Again.
7. Do you write crossovers?
Sort of; honestly I think they'd qualify more as AUs than proper crossovers, but sometimes I just get bit by a bug to write all my favorite characters in some other media settings for shits & giggles. Murphy's Law (Skyrim), Space Shenanigans (Star Wars), The Stranger (Myst), Octan Nights (1001/Arabian Nights), and Hollow Heart (Beauty and the Beast)
8. Have you ever received hate on a fic?
Yeah, when I first started posting Murphy's Law on ff.net. Honestly it just made me laugh, it was so obviously some kid doing a shit job of being a troll.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
I tried once. It was SO awful that I ended up deleting it and swore off ever trying again.
10. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not to my knowledge.
11. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Nope. The fandom I'm in is pretty small so no one's bothered to translate any fics in it, at least as far as I know.
12. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Oh, eons ago when I was still just a little baby birb. I wrote a pitiful attempt at an OoT fic with 2 of my cousins that never got far. All my works since have been solo.
13. What’s your all-time favorite ship?
Coppernauts. C:
14. What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?
Lord I have SO MANY. Think I'd pick Tech Support though (with a much better rewrite to boot, so no link for this one. If you want to read the atrocious original, you'll have to hunt it down yourself :P).
15. What are your writing strengths?
I'm told I'm pretty good with characterization. I'll choose to believe it. ;3
16. What are your writing weaknesses?
Describing literally anything. I am terrible for just... not doing it. Which is something I REALLY need to work on if I really want to reach my 300k goal with The Umiran Amulet.
17. What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
There's only one language I can speak in any capacity, so I just stick with English. If it's something that's meant to be in another language, I just italicize it. Only every once in a blue moon will I use a word in another language, like if a character is swearing in their native tongue, and only if I'm absolutely 100% certain it's the right word.
18. What was the first fandom you wrote for?
Ocarina of Time. It was the fic I mentioned earlier that I wrote with my 2 cousins.
19. What’s a fandom/ship you haven’t written for yet but want to?
I don't really have any, at least at this time. I am very, VERY slow to move between fandoms & ships and am probably still going to be quite happily writing for TLM even when there's literally only 5 of us left lol.
20. What’s your favorite fic you’ve written?
I'd have to say The Atlantis Expedition, which was my first ever fic for the TLM fandom, and the first one I'd ever finished period. I have others that I love just as much, but this one will always have a special place in my heart.

Girl!Sam, Protective!Dean, and College
Wincest if you squint but it can just be them fucking with people.
AU so it's a bit OOC? But also I think they would do this just for a good prank.
Please no hate! Just sharing ideas for you all!
------------------------------------------------------------------
The premise is they have a case and dean has to go undercover as a college professor (occult subject or some college sports coach).
It should have been Sam but she argued that she was already doing the research part, so it's only fair if Dean is the one to get into the school. (There's also the fact that Sam is still a bit bitter about the whole college and Stanford thing)
Dean eventually relented, stating he would die of boredom buried in books and at least the college has some hot girls.
Dean instantly became popular among the girls in the college with some even outright asking him out. He flirts back but can't go out with any of them.
Sam: We don't want you getting fired before the week ends, Dean!
Stupid Sam and always being right.
Dean always takes the Impala to the university and some girls hang out close to it in hopes to catch him in the parking lot. To flirt, to shoot their shot, or just to admire.
Sam: Just pick me up, jerk! Dean: Bitch, I'm swamped as shit here. I told you it would have been better if your nerd ass is the one going undercover! Plus you're the one with info so you come to me. Sam: Are you fucking serious?! I'm wearing heels, remember? Cos you said to seduce the poor intern in the library. Dean: Well, it worked, didn't it? Just get Cas to take you here and wait for me on the car. Sam: I hate you. Dean: On the car, Sam! Sam: I'll wait for you on the car, alright. Dean: What did you just say?! Sam: Nothing, jerk! Dean: Bitch!
And that's how Sam's day is going now.
A crowd has formed in the said parking lots. The whole place is littered with angry looking girls and also guys who are practically drooling.
They see a gorgeous woman laying sexily on the hood of their professor Dean's Impala; denim jeans, plaid shirt with leather jacket, sunglasses, and red lipstick. She is just sitting theret unbothered by the crowd and the attention.
Sam thinks that if Dean was going to be ungentlemanlike then she's going to be as unladylike as possible. And that means lounging on top of her brother's precious Baby.
Student 1: Huh. No wonder the guys are acting like dogs in heat.
Student 2: Isn't that Professor Dean's car?
A group of self-proclaimed popular girls (like seriously? Who labels themselves that in college?) who have been trying to get with Dean finally had enough approaches the woman.
Girl 1 (Emily): Excuse me, you can't sit there.
Sam quirks an eyebrow but doesn't move.
Sam: This your car?
Emily: Well-uh no. But
Sam: Then why are you telling me to get off?
Emily splutters, clearly flustered that someone outright asks her that instead of doing what she says. She huffs and thinks of the best excuse she can use.
Emily: It's my boyfriend's!
Sam had to cough to mask her laugh but she humours the girl.
Sam: Oh really?
Emily: Yeah oh! So get off before we make you regret it.
Sam chuckled but still doesn't move and that only made the girl angrier.
Soon Dean comes out of the school after getting stuck in a meeting with a professor that he was 80% sure is trying to get in his pants. He spots the crowded parking lot and walked faster.
He becomes angry at noticing that everyone is getting a little too close to his Baby and shouts at them which made students jump.
The girl spots him and sees it as her opportunity to try and fake date Dean and to reprimand the woman on the hood. Maybe this will get her in his radar.
Emily: Dean! This rude woman won't move from your car's hood even tho we kept telling her to! She's getting it scratched!
Dean, though, ignores her and walks up to the mystery woman.
Dean: Why didn't you just call me that you were here already?
Sam: Phone died.
Dean: We were just talking.
Sam: So?
God, having a little sibling is infuriating.
Sam: Besides, I was talking to your girlfriend.
She wiggles her eyebrows obnoxiously and Dean's reacted like how she expected.
Dean: The fuck you talking about? I don't have a girlfriend. Why would I have one when i got you here to be a bitch about everything I do.
He says it so loud too so everyone heard it. Sam laughed all the while Dean checks the car's condition.
Everyone's jaw drops because Dean knew this person?? And they were talking so casually. Is she his girlfriend??
Dean remains oblivious to the crowd's shock and turns back to Sam.
Dean: Did you walk here? Where's Cas?
Sam: No. Unlike you, Cas knows how to treat a woman and took me here so politely. He was just here a minute ago but then people kept piling up and-
Dean: That will happen if you sit there like a model on vogue magazine.
Sam: Flattering but also ew.
Dean rolls his eyes but moves to help her get down from the hood.
Seeing smoke practically coming out of Emily and the other girls' ears, Sam smirked and had an idea.
Once she's down, she instantly snakes her arms around Dean's neck and leans close to his ears.
Sam: See? That wasn't so bad, was it?
Dean: Yeah yeah. You're lucky you're cute.
Emily’s face turned beet red.
Emily: Dean, who is this..?
Dean looked at Rachel, finally noticing her.
Dean: A pain in my ass.
Sam: Speak for yourself.
Seeing some guys in the crowd eyeing her a little too closely, Sam decided to up the ante. She pressed herself closer to Dean, running a hand through his hair.
Sam: Come on, Dean. Let’s get out of here.
Dean noticed the lingering stares from the guys and his protective instincts kicked in. He pulled Sam even closer, glaring at the gawking students.
Dean: Yeah. And all of you! Keep your eyes to yourselves, or I’ll make sure you regret it. This is off-limits!
They drive off and Sam can't stop laughing as she explains the whole ordeal to Dean.
Sam: Your admirers are so territorial, dude. Dean: Shut up.

Can i just say that I love the 'all marriages are arranged marriages AU' i hope i got the order right.
It is just amazing.
One of the absolute highlights that i need to address
That Pix by being his weird immortal wandering self managed to just. Make it so the leaders need to fight all the wars (also his country just being a democracy at this point with Pix as 'leader' for when war happens so he can fix it) amazing. 10/10 I love it so much.
Now. A thing that i am curious about.
I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall between Xornoth's and Lizzie's meeting where both of them somehow manage to get their little brothers engaged without it being on purpose.
Like. What kind of weird game of chicken were they playing? Where they just saying stuff expecting the other to back down but neither did and woops now we gotta plan a wedding. Woopsie.
And Scott!! Just wanting to stay inside while he tries to deal with his ice which his brother helps with.
Surprise! You need to move now because wedding *jazz hands*
God this whole AU is just so funny to me.
I love it. It is beautiful!
close enough XD
Now excuse me for a moment while i go squeal to my cat about how PEOPLE LIKE MY THINGS!
ahem. yes. anyway.
Pixlriffs accidentally defining the sociopolitical landscape of multiple kingdoms because of his tendency to randomly show up and prank people is one of my favorite things. I'm very excited to get to his backstory fic.
So the good news is you will get to be a fly on the wall for that! At some point. Because that will actually be included in the fic.
The tldr as it currently stands (with the disclaimer that currently it exists only in outline form and the chances of it changing dramatically when i actually sit down to write it are considerably more than zero) is that Xornoth's fault in the matter was mostly that they were a bit caught up in the Seabling chaos of the combined effect of Jimmy's tendency to leap headfirst into things without thinking, and Lizzie's professionally bardic dedication to "yes and". There was a little bit of "game of chicken" happening but that was mostly between Jimmy and Fwip. Rivendell's direct involvement was an unexpected (for everyone) last minute addition to the situation. (And that part is a bit Xornoth's fault, though not their intention at all.)
Scott is absolutely appalled at the idea of moving to the swamp tbh. None of his current wardrobe is at all suitable for the climate or the environment and he can work with green if he must but brown is absolutely not his color. And that is a whole lot of innocent bystanders in the water that he might freeze at anytime and not be able to undo
awwwww, thank you so much! I'm so glad you are enjoying it. I've been having a lot of fun putting it together and seeing so many people get invested has been amazing.

Demon Slayer Swap AU Ideas
So I've been thinking a lot about a swap AU for Demon Slayer and I just want to write out my thoughts on here. I enjoy looking at other versions of this au and I just had my own thoughts/takes on it.
Disclaimer: Any similarities to other swap AUs story wise and visually(especially for the humans turned demon) are coincidental. I've only looked at fanart of the kizuki but as demon slayers and like one picture of a demon Shinobu and didn't go much further than that with other people's AUs cuz I wanted to come up with my own shit. I feel the need to say this cuz people on the internet like to harass people over artists and writers having similar ideas.
Also a lot of these aren't necessarily a direct swap. I'm writing these things down for myself mostly to lay shit out. If you disagree that's fine, if you're curious where this is going.. slay. stick around.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tanjiro and Nezuko swaps with Gyutaro and Daki(Ume)
Reasoning? They're relatively direct parallels I was also debating swapping these two with Sanemi and Genya but decided against it. Might do a version later on with them idk
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Gyomei swaps with Douma
Reasoning? Religion/Cult. The only real difference I feel like there would be is that Gyomei actually believes the shit that he says.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Yoriichi Swaps with Kokushibo(Michikatsu)
The reasoning here is pretty straight forward.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Muzan swaps with Kagaya
This one is also pretty straight forward
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Giyu swaps with Kyogai
Reasoning? They were both pretty much cast out(In Giyu's case it was really just socially cuz everyone canonically hated him) and I thought it'd be interesting to see them reversed.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Mitsuri swaps with Enmu
Reasoning? I feel like as a demon Mitsuri would have similar mannerisms to Enmu. Idk how to explain it
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Obanai Swaps with the Hand Demon
Reasoning? Purely on the basis that I think No Neck bitch is salty as hell and Obanai would be a salty bitch too
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Muichiro and Yuichiro swap with Hantengu
Reasoning? I'm scraping the bottom of the barrel bro. I'm only putting this cuz I feel like their blood demon arts would work with each other kinda like the Hantengu clones where they merge but also get separated. I have a very specific Idea and it'll come out better when I start writing the story.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Shinobu, Kanae, Kanao, Aoi and the butterfly girls swaps with The Spider Family
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Rengoku swaps with Akaza
Reasoning? Both of their things is Strength
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tengen with Gyokko
Reasoning? Eccentricity. They're both flashy in their own respective ways and I feel like it'd be interesting to swap them
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Zenitsu with the Swamp Demon
Reasoning? They're both weird about women and girls imo
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Murata Stays the same
Reasoning? It's funny
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tamayo, Amane and Rei swap
Reasoning? Well Amane and Rei were the wives of their respective rivals but I also feel like Amane would rebel similarly to Tomayo along with her extensive medical knowledge. It'll make more sense when I actually start writing the damn thing.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I can't find any behavioral parallels for Sanemi, Genya, and Inosuke so imma just wing it for them lmfao
um a semi comprehensive list of all my empires au's (its not very comprehensive sorry) (most of them are about Jimmy and Joel. I have my favorite little guys apologies I am trying to think more about the other povs)
Btw part of the titles for au 1 and 3 are flower names. Look up the meanings there's a reason i chose them (specifically the prompts "Alstroemeria meaning" and "bleeding heart flower symbolism") (also with two of Swords I found a tarot meaning for it I liked and worked with the au (cant find the page anymore) and then remembered twenty minutes later that the two Swords are dead ass in the Empires logo)
Tumblr media
Au 1- WHNTP/Alstromeria au (alternate titles are 'We have nothing to prove' and 'Whind Tyip'). This is my role swap au of empires season 2, although the story focuses mostly on Jimmy and Joel. Jimmy rules Stratos as a god, while Joel is the Sheriff.
I've spent some time working on belief systems for both empires, but have a lot more work in for Tumble Town. Also, the main landmarks (? The first buildings they both make in Canon esmp2) are swapped- there is a fountain in Tumble Town that provides clean water, and Joel serves as the protecter of the fountain; In Stratos, the main island has a garden, as it is said the founding god slept there for the night and blessed the land, pulling it from the ground.
Inspired by "Never the Muse" and "Tho I'm a Tortoise", both by Madilyn Mei. This au is one of my favorites in terms of worldbuilding and fluff potential. There's a bit more about it here.
Au 2- No name, refered to as "Gallows" Focused on Jimmy and the Townspeople- they take care of him in little ways and help support him when confronting Joel. Important plot points are the Toy Bonfire, Meals, Water Bottle, and Gallows (code for each of the scenes). I don't have as much work for this done as I would like, but it's very sweet.
Au 3- Two of Swords // ToS // Dicentra Mostly I use this AU for Joel/Pantheon world building. I made up a lot of terms for celestials (stand-in for the word god) in this au.
Aspectu- a type of celestial who represents an aspect of nature Corup- a type of celestial who represents an emotion or an emotional action Miska- a type of celestial who represents  more intangible ideas- magic, storytelling as examples Shali- a term for a celestial who falls into more than one of the above categories. Impossible to reach without committing diecide. Quiacy- a group of celestials who did not participate in the pillaging of the former empires lands after the rapture. Dicentra- a term for a celestial, once mortal, who became a celestial after dying. Typically selected by two or more celestial as worthy, and given divine status via those two patron celestial's combined powers. Coreia- A head or primordial celestial, or one from another "system" (not affiliated with the Empires pantheon)
Joel has many different names in this au (The Mad King/King Joel Smallish, Smallibea, Celestial Consumer, Sayoesal, and Stratosa). Jimmy becomes possessed by a Corup, leading to him slipping into the villain role again, and Joel goes berserk trying to get the other celestial out of him. Much later on, Joel realizes Jimmy and Lizzie are dormant reincarnations of the two celestials who triggered his apotheosis, and the story ends with Joel inviting an older Jimmy to travel to a swamp with him, stating that he would like it. Also there's an Etho reference in Joel's backstory which relates to why he reacts strongly when finding out Jimmy is being controlled by a Corup ;)
AU 4- Sick Daze Literally just an excuse for me to write a sickfic. Joel can essentially turn on and off his human immune system, and thus is able to care for sick people without getting sick himself. Honestly I adore this one, it's really simple.
AU 5- No Title I don't have much planned out but this AU is inspired by both Welcome to Nightvale and the song Housewife Radio. Essentially Joel rolls into town and sets up a radio station. Jimmy, the Sheriff, does NOT like him, as Joel keeps proclaiming he's a god and calling him a toy, along with only telling stupid, nonsensical tales on his radio show. However, as time goes on, the things Joel talks about on the radio show up in town, and Jimmy starts noticing odd changes in himself- for example, stitches on his arm like seams.
AU 6- Working title: How exactly do mortals work? So Jimmy gets splashed with water from the lore fountain and dies like ten seconds later. His spirt gets locked out of his body despite respawn, and as Joel has no idea what Permadeath is (being a god), he ends up convinced Jimmy's pranking him by pretending to be asleep, and he carries a body around for half a day before speaking to other Emporers about it. Eventually he has to search for a temple where he can properly harness his magic and put Jimmy's spirit back into his body. This au had another opening scene slated, but I didn't like it as much, so I changed it. I may write the original opening some day.
AU 7- Neptunian Growth Kinda weird and I came up with this earlier today, but it features a storm/weather/water mage Jimmy, who uses his abilities to prevent drought and floods in Tumble Town, and a Terrakinesis slash chlorokinesis Joel, who used his powers to raise the Islands of Stratos. Long story short they fucking HATE each other and both nearly kill the other before things get really bad and they realize that this has to stop, or both of their Empires will be torn apart.
AU 8- Mesa Beat Uhm I already made a post about this so here's the link for that.
AU 9- Felines Essentially Seablings but Esmp2. Jimmy is half human, half feli, and Lizzie is pure feli. They have the same mother but different fathers, as polygamous relationships are very common in Animalia, and leaders are actively encouraged to take a new lover every year. Mostly I adore this AU because of one scene in particular, but also because I mostly get to write them as kids!!!! There's a few main interactions they have as adults but I am very excited for the kid interactions, mostly because they remind me of me and my brother when we were younger. This is a very self indulgent Au, and I posted about it once before, but who cares. I love it.
I have like five more but they're mostly just actual stories, with little bits of an AU added on so what happens make a bit more sense (for example my prey animal jimmy idea. It does make sense and I am not insane.)
I feel like with witch Genesis, they
a) have LEGITIMATE CLAWS they always have to trim to regular nail size/sharpness in order to not shank any of their lovers or ruin any books
and b) are naturally a seduction witch.
(this particular he is pretty much completely based off of a book series I'm reading these are traits of the main character) (cough cough the first book is called Wit Worthy by Juliann Whicker cough cough)
but ANYWAYS. they'd just be naturally a witch who's magic is mainly seduction based (tho he definitely has more) but a lot of it is activated/ used best when they use their voice, aka sings or READS ALOUD
omg that could be why they recite Loveless so much
but they could probably compell people to do things, or transfigure them! (and other objects!)
that situation is also from when this mob of people were chucking things like tomatoes at Wit, and as she sang, she enthralled them while she transformed them all into sheep. to bring them back to being people, she'd kiss their heads an break the spell
^ that's just so Genesis coded to me???
(claw example)
Tumblr media
Okay! Sorry I took so long to answer, I have no signal at work otherwise I would have answered in my break!
So! I’ll start by saying this AU is totally up for however you want to interpret it, so however you see Gen, that’s how they are. Skies the limit with this one!
That being said, I’m vibing with these so hard I may change my own law!
1.) Genesis is technically speaking an unfinished Vampire. They were bitten at a party in their early twenties but has never drank blood straight from a live vain so they’re not fully turned. It’s a touchy subject for Genesis because it has still changed a lot about him physically.
For example, this version of Genesis is a vegetarian and has been all their life. Now, however they struggle against blood urges and need to at least have the flavour of blood to satiate the hunger for any extended amount of time.
The idea about him being a seduction witch is amazing. This works so well with the idea that vampires have powers of suggestion! I feel as though this is one of the things Gen has a love hate relationship with because on the one hand, they can use it against people they dislikes or thinks need punished. On the other, they are terrified that they will accidentally use it on one of the boys.
As for the Claws… that going into canon. I think I wrote down somewhere that each of them have a Witch mark.
Seph it was his eyes, obviously
Angeals was moving plant tattoos
Cloud was glowing scars
And I think I wrote Gens was a phoenix wing but I’ve been a fool! Claws it better!
I can absolutely see them staining his fingers when he over works his magic and him being incredibly Vain about them! Maybe Zack was a little frightened at first by the prospect of them in… ahem… certain aspects of their relationship. But Gens had 26 years to know how to take care of them.
I’ll have to look into that book once I’m not swamped with work etc!
Sorry again for missing this! These are awesome ideas!
WIP Wednesday
I have been posting a LOT about Operation Groundhog AU, so instead today I am going to post a bit of Valley AU. Just to remind y'all (and myself) that I'm working on other fics, too, LOL
Maverick pauses, listening to the rumbling getting louder.
That’s an engine, he thinks, and dives under cover into the undergrowth, hidden by the large leaves of a bush and a downed tree. The engine gets louder--a jet, for sure. Subsonic, and too small to be a Felon. Not an F-18, either, and Maverick lets himself feel a moment of intense relief. He has no idea if the others can follow him here, really, but--well. He doesn’t want them to.
The engine gets softer, and then louder again--circling like a vulture. Did the pilot spot him? Maverick doesn’t know, isn’t sure what to king about any of this. Surely if it knew where he was, it would have started shooting by now--
He breathes for a moment, as the jet gets closer, and then inches towards an opening in his cover--slowly, slowly peering out. The angle’s back, but he can just barely make out a stretch of sky, and the jet circles around for a third time--
Maverick feels his blood turn to ice in his veins.
That’s not any sort of jet currently in circulation, he thinks, stupidly. That’s an F-8.
That’s an F-8, and it’s looking for him.
If asked later, Maverick wouldn’t be able to explain why he did what he did next, couldn’t explain the way adrenaline shot through him, the clawing, choking fear that swamped him, certainly would not be able to explain the way he knew, somehow, suddenly, that he did not want that F-8 to spot him.
Which is why what he does next is so fucking stupid.
He runs.
I've seen it done exactly once in an ABO fic but it was GRIPPING and I think you'd love it? And this is just my take on the themes/troupes cause "Nice~👍🎉💖"? Vaguely Gothic Horror but Modern Bats! Mixed with a Civilian Tim Au! Where Tim doesn't know Bruce is batman. Oh sure he knows the Brucie Mask is fake as hell, has since he was super tiny, but NOT what he's hiding! What ANY of them are.
And the Bats are urban legends, the wealthy scoff, you don't REALLY believe there is some sort of Bat Creature running around Gotham? (Wayne tech makes the finest video scrambling tech not on the market. It will never BE on the market.) Tim of course knows there IS, but really... since his parents died? He's more concerned with keeping Drake Industries afloat. People don't have a lot of confidence in young teenage CEOs. Or even barely legal CEOs.
He's been swamped. Yet Brucie "I basicly OWN half of Gotham yet everyone thinks I'm a harmless himbo" Wayne has been religiously sending him invites to every event he hosts. As though Tim wouldn't have been eaten ALIVE and had Drake Industries stolen from him, before now. But he can't put it off any more. He's run out of fires to put out, as it were.
People are starting to ask when they'll see him at the next event. If he's, for some unthinkable reason, AVOIDING dear Brucie Wayne. The beloved brainless prince of Gotham. Both PR and HR would strangle him to death with his own insides if he said he was.
So he goes. Puts on his best GNC suit, those touches of jewelry, a bit of scent you can't tell if it's perfume or cologne etc. And he goes to be the little Dragon of Gotham. Tries to avoid getting to close to the looming, masked by only their own faces, CLEARLY hiding something Wayne's.
He fails.
Of course he does. Bruce gets him alone. Knows that Tim knows his Brucie Mask is fake. Knows a LOT more then he should, actually. Has been trying to get a hold of him since his parents accident. To foster him of course. (And in the beginning that really WAS all Bruce wanted to do. But Tim was so, so clever. Kept escaping and proving himself and fighting. Bruce was watching, ready to step in and take over. Them moment never came though. But Bruce has grown so... attached. He WANTS to take care of his boy. This brilliant soft young man, untouched by the vigilante life.)
Tim mentally calls bullshit. There is HUNGER in those eyes. And? Just as Bruce is pulling the "you know... Wayne Industries has been VERY interested in some of your company's current projects, we should sex about it." Purr and loom routine? They get interrupted by the one and only Gotham's Golden Pretty Boy: Dickie Grayson. And oh shit! Same too toothy fake smile, same hunger in the eyes, weird tension between him and Bruce. Tim takes his chance to escape.
But for SOME reason? After that party? He CANT seem to escape! (It's cause they're Bats. Professional Ninja Stalkers.) Showing up everywhere, knowing too much, circling tighter and tighter like sharks he's not entirely sure he even WANTS to fight. No one has ever been this into him. There are enough red flags to bury men alive.
He might be into that.
And they DO watch him everywhere! Both mundane life, work, and getting off when he should be in what is the privacy of his own home. They fantasize about it, about him. There are GIFTS.
Then? Oh dear, one rainy, rainy night... as he needs to fetch something from the old Manor he grew up in... which is RIGHT next to Wayne Manor? For some UNKNOWN reason his car blows a tire as it passes near their gate! Well he can't drive like THAT! And it is so VERY late! Guess he has no choice but to stay the night now.
And if the sneak a bit of pollen into his food? Well they FINALLY have their Tim HOME. Where he belongs! He'd love being part of the family, being loved, taken care off, not ALONE anymore. But they have such a limited amount of time to convince him. To open him up to the idea that being around them feels good. That they'll take care off him. The second the rain stops, he'll flee again back to lonely penthouse and isolated life. They HAVE too!
So they make him feel good. Brain meltingly good. Mouths and fingers and toys and more. They have his phone and work computer, it'll be easy to impersonate him for a while and shoulder some of that work for their boy while they convince him. They have NO idea how he got dosed they lie, but they care so much, love their Tim so much they'll GLADLY help him through it. Won't tell a soul, promise! They got you little bird, they got you~♡
i might have a fic rec for this!!!! it's incomplete but a very good civilian tim and bats/tim fic!!!!!!!!!!!!
its called the rapture, it's a hunger
the idea of the bats alll having this kind of possessiveness over tim and doing their best to integrate into his life like he's not desperately suspicious of them and their ulterior motives is so good!!!! tim may not be robin or a bat but he can still pick up and sense that things aren't fully pure and innocent from these waynes that act VERY suspicious towards him in particular. but tim is trapped because its him against basically a miniature army who all have an obsessive streak 😭
*crawls out of a swamp, hands you a paper that says "11, 16, 66, and 77 but you choose the fic" then gets dragged back in by vines*
*slaps herself on the forehead with the paper* the only ask I got out of this and I fucking forgot about it
11. Link your three favorite fics right now
But like my fics or the fics I'm reading? I'll go with the second option and rec some good stuff bc it's too hard to pick from my own stuff
First, two Prospect works from my prospie besties, both AUs, both brilliant!
At Your Service by @skoulsons - modern AU where 15 year old Cee starts working at a restaurant and their best employee, Ezra, takes her under his wing (and not only during work hours). Lots of angst and lots of love - and you get to see how restaurants work! How cool is that!
without you, without them by @channelrat - this AU is more in-world and poses a question: what if Ezra knew Cee's mom? What if they were best friends? It's so exciting to follow Cee as she uncovers her family's history and learns more about her mom
The third one is a Hunger Games fic that I've been following for quite some time and I can't wait for another chapter
Long Way Out by lollercakes - a story following the ups and downs (and mental breakdowns) of the relationship between Katniss and Haymitch. It's heavy, it's brutal at times, deals with depression, PTSD, alcoholism, suicidal thoughts and rage (to name a few) but ultimately it's a story about how two broken people can keep each other from falling apart because they are both too damn stubborn to let each other go.
16. How many fic ideas are you nurturing right now? Share one of them?
Realistically? Two. There's more saved in my docs but I'm not being pulled to start them or finish what is started already. One I can share, the one I'll probably be working on next, is a little extra scene for The Bad Batch series finale, where everyone gets a moment to breathe and take care of each other as they fly away from their final battle.
66. How do you deal with writing pressure (ie. pressure to update, negative comments, deadlines, etc.)?
Pressure to update? Deadlines? It's easy to deal with when you're convinced no one is reading your shit lol but seriously, I try to take it easy now. I used to work like a machine (still do sometimes), but not because I knew someone was waiting, but because there were so many ideas in my head that I just wanted to be done with the current one so I can start the next. I didn't want to lose any of them. These days I try to tell myself "there is no deadline". Fics don't have deadlines. You release them when you feel like they're ready, you work on them when you have time and energy to do so.
And as readers, we should know and respect that. I'm also a reader who's waiting for updates on her beloved fics - written both by strangers and by friends. But no matter how much I want to read what happens next, I won't pressure them to update. When they're ready and the story is ready, then I'll get to read it.
As for negative comments? I rarely get them, the ones I did were from fandom trolls that were pressed about stupid bullshit, or it was straight up AI generated comment. What I do? Read, delete, never think of it again.
77. Do you have a favorite scene you’ve written from [Fanfic Name] story/chapter?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
These two bits from The Art of Letting Go
Because it's so angsty!!! We see Hunter and Omega argue in the show but never to this extent! It never turns into a fight! I cried writing those. But it felt so good!
Thank you for the ask! Sorry you had to wait so long.
