Honestly I don't think wukong did anything wrong by "abandoning" the brotherhood like they didn't abounded him first he didn't owe them anything he doesn't even owe them an explanation he was happier with the pilgrims choosing your own happiness is not a selfish thing and he shouldn't feel bad about it they assumed he "betrayed" them so be it he doesn't have to explain himself for them I'm sure he would've if they asked but they probably never did so yeah he doesn't owe them shit

okay so we know how Azure used Wukong, only deemed him valuable due to his strength, put him on a pedestal, and then when Wukong couldn't live up to Azure's impossible expectations Azure deemed him a traitor worthy of death?

well I found something that kinda foreshadowed/is a detail that shows how he was using him/didn't actually care for Wukong beyond his power, and it's this frame:

in this shot we see Wukong through Azure's eyes, and Azure is only seeing half of Wukong, one side of him. Azure only sees what side he wants to, what part is useful to him.

Wukong's power.

he cares not to see anything else.

Something I NEED to be heard out on cause I’ve had this thought for a while is that ‘I Want You’ by Mitski is SUCH an Azure and Wukong song it’s NOT EVEN FUNNY.

Okay so first these lyrics

You're coming back (Azure Litteraly DID come back.)

And it's the end of the world (He almost caused the end of the world because he couldn’t control the emperor’s power.)

We're starting over and I love you darlin' (This has more meanings but in a sense Wukong had to start over. He had to move past the brotherhood to become healthier and happier.)

And I am done, dear (Wukong’s reaction to seeing Azure again. He’s so tired, sad, and mad because he misses his friend but he knows he has to stop Azure for the greater good.)

You're in the house (Azure on the throne in the palace)

And I am here in the car (Wukong being in the scroll, still with Azure in a sense.)

I just need a quiet place (Wukong sitting on that ledge all by himself thinking before Mac and Mk interrupt him.)

Where I can scream how I love you (The scene where Azure dies. Azure dies smiling at Wukong and Wukong can do nothing to save his friend.)

This song SCREAMS Azure and Wukong so much. If you have never listened to it do it it is such a good song.
