After having a long think...

Even though I keep saying I'm going to go rest and stop obsessing about this, I guess I can't. I just suck at sitting still and being chill. My thoughts are under the cut out of respect for folks in the tags who don't want to engage in any drama around Seven.

Here is a list of all the push for Seven that has been noticed in the first two days (the thread is currently 30-posts deep but please do take a look):

Note: I haven't vetted any of those comments. I just scrolled through them and felt so overwhelmed. It just doesn't look good, but I bow to any industry experts who have real data and experience.

Update: Artie has a good post here about Jimin's debut numbers and playlists. Also here about how Seven being promoted to radio isn't necessarily proof that it was payola and they have the numbers from credible sources to back that possibility up:

I'm just going to come right out and say it: I find payola dishonorable. It's not just advertising; it's basically bribes. And ads should never replace real people's streams.

I deeply respected that BTS and ARMY found such success without that stuff. It used to be about passionate artists, making their own music, which resonated with real people, who worked hard to promote it. It was about mutual respect.

JK's numbers don't look completely organic to me, but I don't think he had a hand in that.

I have such serious misgivings if this the direction Hybe is going in for JJK1, and have no clue how the group survives if the company picks and chooses their favorites for that kind of push. If this is the strategy for all BTS projects now, I have no idea how they can afford it. I'd really appreciate if they could come to us and try to explain how it could ever be on the up-and-up because I don't think it can.

I confess I will not be working hard at all for anything that seems inorganic. This project just looks like Scooter weaponizing Jungkook to win a dick-measuring contest with Taylor and others. I hate it.

That said, I've always been very clear that Jimin is my guide.

Jimin adores Jungkook. Jimin is working with and hanging out with Jungkook even as I type this. Jimin is choosing for now to stay with Hybe. Jimin is flying all over the world on Hybe's time and dime to work on even more projects. Jimin has more music to share with us, that Hybe is investing in. Jimin seems happy for the most part.

I will support Jimin and never move against the people Jimin loves.

I trust Jimin and give the benefit of the doubt to the people Jimin trusts.

When planning his first album, I do not believe that Jimin was told about decisions to split tracks, or skip play-listings, or what would get restocked, or if they'd buy ads for smoother streams on YouTube and Spotify or not, or what kind of articles would be written about him.

I believe Jimin had plenty of input on the design, look, feel, sound, tracks, cast, choreo, performances--all the creative aspects of his album. I think he was able to say what he needed to say and get Letter hidden on his album for Jungkook. But I don't think he was roped into strategic plans and profit and loss statements and marketing roll-outs in any great detail. I arrive at this idea based on my own experience in the entertainment industry--I could be wrong.

And so I think the same for Jungkook. I think Jungkook had input on some of the creative aspects of this single (and likely had suspicions of what working under Hybe America and Scooter might entail). I have no idea the conversations and pressures he faced around this topic, or if he simply trusted Bang PD to handle it. I don't know what all he talked about with Jimin and the hyungs.

I do know there was a time this year when he came to us on lives deeply depressed and almost lost, despondent. I know there was a group dinner where many things were discussed. And then there were many times he came to us on lives, inspired by and enamored with Jimin, memorizing and hyping up his work with such pure adoration, even as their own company refused to even mention Jimin's successes.

So I ask myself: does Jeon Jungkook really have it in him to steal Jimin's ideas or push himself out ahead of his hyungs, embracing unequal treatment and unfair advantages, just so he can be the one to make it big in the West?

And in looking for that answer, I'm reminded of this clip:

No. I don't think that's who Jeon Jungkook is. At least, it isn't the Jeon Jungkook I knew.

I am sad to say I think that is exactly who Scooter Braun is and who Bang PD has become. That is what the company would do. But not our Jungkook. Not unless everyone in the group was on board with it, somehow.

Jimin is standing by Jungkook. So I am standing by Jungkook--as a person.

But I've bought Seven once and I've added it to my night playlist and that's all the moves I'm making on that project. I will not be setting alarms to vote or using extra accounts to buy or hash-tagging anything, nor getting any merch, nor requesting local spins, none of that. It's a catchy song but as the thread I linked to above shows, it is a guaranteed "success" even without me. So I'm using my energy to support Jimin and other BTS projects that resonate with me and need me.

My stance on this might offend you, and I respect your feelings. I do not identify as a solo or anti. I still think of myself as aJimin-biased Jikooker who loves the members. I am probably toeing the line of being a manti, as I feel this company has broken faith with me. Not the creative or administrative staff, but the executives. I feel like they've ended our ten-year legacy in shame.

If it gets much worse, I may just dip out of the fandom after Jimin goes into service. I don't know. Probably I will have to see how things work out for the other solo works and plans for the group for 2025. At the moment, I have far bigger things to worry about, like colitis.

I can't lie, what I've seen so far with this rollout really shocked me, gave me a bit of an identity crisis, as ARMY. I don't want to assume the worst; neither do I want to bury my head in the sand for the sake of my ship or my favorite songs.

I will always act in accordance with my own conscience, based on the limited information I have. If I get better information, I will of course update my viewpoints. If at any point that causes anyone who is friended with me distress, I will understand completely if we need to part ways. I never, EVER wish to cause anyone harm.

But I'm too sick to argue and debate too much, too long. Boraland was supposed to be a place to unwind and feel inspired, not get more stressed. These past few 1.5 years months as ARMY has been exhausting in every sense of the word. So I'm choosing to put my energy into the things that bring some joy in my life.

I'm choosing to trust and follow Jimin's lead, for now.

What song are you fixated on at the moment? What lyric or verse, and why?

I believe the song I would go with would probably be Francesca by Hozier, or Unknown/Nth by Hozier. The Bridge to Unknown is probably my favourite because it's such a like emotional lyric. It depicts the story of someone willing to do anything for someone who doesn't love them back.

Do you love gargantuan Youtube video essays, and if so, which is your favorite and why?

I wouldn't mind listening to a video essay, but I don't purposefully go looking for them! If the topic seems interesting I might click on it tho ^^

What is your go-to way to fall asleep?

Usually cuddled up with a teddy and listening to a sleep aid ^^ there's only a few times that I pass out a few minutes after laying down/with no help. My favourite sleep aid to go to is Ollie's gaming sleep aid where he's playing MK (I have trouble with the "traditional" sleep aids because its too quiet)

If you had to change your name, what would it be, and why? (In tandem, if you have changed your name, why did you pick that one?)

I won't say what name I chose when i first found out I was Enby because it would (potentially) give me away but the reason I chose it is because it tied multiple parts of my interests together. It felt fitting for that reason. Plus, when ppl hear my name they can usually see that I picked it myself and know that I'm queer as hell so.

What is your favorite of Redacted’s audios, and why?

I adore Milo's "getting ready" video (getting dressed up for your feisty werewolf boyfriend), it always makes me feel very special ^^ I also just adore Milo in general (probably my top fav). I also really enjoy the imperium series as it gives us a different side to the boys we love sm.

What Redacted boy holds no appeal to you, and why? Like, not the one you hate but the one who you don’t get the hype for. (I won’t judge, I promise.)

I think that one of the boys I don't understand the hype for is Lasko (though, he's slowly growing on me now). I don't know what it was about early Lasko but he just didn't scratch that part of my brain for the longest time.

Tell me about that one book/movie/tv show you know all the words to.

Oh gods I could go one about this. I would have to say the percy jackson series (and Heroes of Olympus) as that is a series that has stuck with me since middle school. Though honourable mention to Tangled (the movie) because oh how I love it so

Guy, honestly. Like don't get me wrong i would date him too, but if we're talking friendship he seems like a pretty cool dude.

The ancient greeks, my ocs, sometimes also space. I never really get to a point where I ramble all that often while tired, but if I'm tired and thinking about something you will hear about it.

Probably Circle K because it's the closest to my house and I usually go for a cherry slushie or orange crush.

Bear in the Big Blue House, because it was the show from my childhood. Also Grey's Anatomy because sometimes I like getting lost in the dumb drama on that show

ummm lets see, maybe that im a reader and creator. I love creating things and indulging in others creations so much its insane. I also don't have a strict like association with foods only being for certain meals. like pancakes/eggs and bacon are an any meal kinda food kinda deal. I'm also more of a night owl, though if I get enough sleep I don't mind being up at 5/6 am if its needed/gives me time to chill before the day "actually starts".

So Avior went through HELL, a whole-ass hell, and made the tragic, Byronic hero’s choice to drag his lover back into that hell. That’s so Unreal Unearth-coded. That’s, like, textbook Hozier; that’s your man.

That’s half of it; the other half is that Avior is so Greek mythology, classics, Socratic coded. Like, he gives so much dark academic vibes, and he really rocks it. That’s a man who has strong opinions about Marcus Aurelius and Stoicism in the best way. Avior loves hearing you talk about Greek myths and philosophy and would be the kind of partner where you’d have lots of lively discussions on translations and interpretation of their literature.

Every day with him would be so lively; Avior is the type who’d be such a fantastic beta reader when you’re in need of him. He’s thoughtful, analytical but not cruel or harsh. The two of you just devour books, reccing things to each other constantly. Avior’d also be so fun to watch Grey’s Anatomy with in that he fucking hated it at first but he’s obsessed now. He would have a big crush on Dr. Yang, and who could blame him?

I love this song and how fantastic, longing, romantic, and tragic it is. It’s a little more Imperium than Prime-coded but no matter the universe, the vibes of holding onto one another as the sky falls to pieces around you will always suit you and Avior. (This is my favorite version but I also recommend the Matt Maltese original.)

Mairon wakes to the singing. He lifts himself up some from his silk-covered, hypoallergenic pillows, his ginger hair a terrible cloud around his head. He listens. Yes, there's the singing signalling that the pop star he had taken home a year and a half ago is up and about, ahead before him as always, and already preparing for his day. Finrod has a very lovely voice and Mairon has found his singing is better than any playlist on Spotify or YouTube. Live concerts every day and not a single ticket charged to his black credit card.

It's true romance is dead I shot it in the chest-- And then in the head!

Mairon takes his sweet time. He rolls onto his back. Then he hears the unmistakable purring of a cat, and a particularly fluffy and round British shorthair jumps up on the bed and trots to him, tail held high. A grin spreads on his lips as the chocolate-colored tomcat loafs on his chest and stomach. Mairon immediately hugs the cat, bestowing a thousand kisses on that cute fluffy face and pink nose and soft, soft ears.

The cat meows -- but for all of his size, what he can manage is a pitiful meow that seems to have cost him all the effort in the world. This is Draugluin, Mairon's firstborn child, love of his life, his chocolate-colored baby. Baby baby baby baby baby. That pitiful meow pinches at his heart unfailing each time. More kisses are bestowed on the cat.

"Have you eaten? Has Helga given you breakfast? You cutiepie. My baby. My cute little chocolate chip. Cutiepie. My baby," Mairon mutters as he lifts the cat a little by its fluffy armpits. However armpits apply to felines, of course.

Just then the master bathroom doors open. He hears Finrod moving about, still singing that song. It must be a new song from an upcoming album. It has to be. Mairon has never heard it before. Another perk of acquiring oneself a world-famous, viral pop idol, dating said pop idol, and then bringing him home. VVIP access to unreleased content.

Draugluin pats Mairon's face with a fluffy paw. He kisses said paw, before hugging the cat to himself. He catches a whiff of Finrod's perfume. Le Labo nut, his partner.

"Mairon?" Finrod's voice comes somewhere from their vast, walk-in closet. "Drive me to the studio today?"

Ah yes. This makes him roll his eyes, this types of request. Mairon Aulëndil, CEO of Angbad Inc., reduced to being chauffeur. Mairon Aulëndil, with an M.A. and Ph.D on Business Management, reduced to a grocer boy. Mairon Aulëndil, gorgeous man, reduced to--

Finrod's lovely face appears in his line of vision, peeking down at him. "I said drive me to the studio."

"Did you hear me refuse? I didn't refuse," Mairon scowls. He kisses Draugluin's chocolate head. Still hugging his cat. His and Finrod's firstborn child, really. They should get another one. A girl. Just so Draugluin has a sibling... "Of course I will drive you to your studio."

"But before that take me to Farmery first so I can buy us some sandwiches. And we're short on those cooked hams you like on your wheat bread. And also a Starbucks drive-thru for coffee."

"Finrod, we have perfectly delicious coffee beans here and an espresso machine that you ordered all the way from godsdamn Italy. Why would you want that Starbucks crap?"

"Because Helga and Alice cannot make my latte how I want it."

His partner pads away. Draugluin has loafed on him now and is kneading biscuits by his neck and chest. Mairon's scowl doesn't fade.

"Mrmf. Your claws are getting long, young man. Time for an appointment with your groomer."

Another kiss to the cat. Another kiss. Mwah mwah.

"Mairon!" Finrod calls him. "Get your ass out of bed and bathe already!"

Ugh. This dumb blond...if only he wasn't so pretty and desirable, Mairon would have kicked him out already nonsense he has a ring ready; he will put a ring on it, and he will seal his fate soon of complaining forever!

Mairon sits up. Now cradling Draugluin like a baby in his arms. The cat still continues to knead at thin air. Purring like a motorboat. Awh.

"You see this? You see how your mommy is treating me? Slave-driver. Eru on a stick. Slave-driver."

"I can hear you, Mairon! Get your ass out of bed!"

"I'm getting up already, damn! Shut up, Finrod!"

🚨 Disclaimer: These are my personal interpretations of his character. There are a few songs that are purely here because of fanon interpretations I have seen of him (that I don't necessarily share, but still think are neat). The songs are in no particular order.

🚨Disclaimer 2: There are spoilers for Year One! Also, a lot of these are about his relationship to Batman. In my defense, Batman is a major part of his development, motivation and most importantly, the trigger that really gets the story going.

Happy Meal I by The Cardigans - This is what I imagine a more calm Edward would think about when imagining a meeting with Batman, especially because of the Lyrics: "and now I've found a partner / no one can be happier than I am / and now I've found a new friend / no one can be happier than me"

Happy Meal II by The Cardigans - This is basically the same song except with a few minor changes in the lyrics and a slightly different vibe but I still include it because hey, it's a good song and it reminds me of him.

Of Angels and Angles by The Decemberists - A calm song that I think portrays his pain in a much quieter way than the comics. Lyrics: "there's a tough word on your crossword / there's a bed bug nipping a finger / there's a swallow, there's a calm / here's a hand to lay on your open palm today"

#1 Crush by Garbage - Riddlebat fanon song, about what Edward feels for The Batman, his willingness to be noticed and the fact he sees Batman in everything as a source of hope and comfort. Lyrics: "see your face every place that I walk in / hear your voice every time that I'm talking / you will believe in me / and I will never be ignored"

Paranoid Android by Radiohead - This song is so him it's not even funny. The first verse is him being overwhelmed by the constant corruption he sees in Gotham. The second is his relationship to Bruce after he learns of Renewal ("when I am king, you will be first against the wall"). The third is his views towards Gotham elite: they are pigs who don't care about the people they step on, but they will know his name eventually, as The Riddler. The fourth is a reflection while he's in Arkham and everything is over (after the flood): it's a desperate calm and a reminder of his days at the orphanage, trapped and hopeless.

My Iron Lung by Radiohead - This is half vibe half actual Riddler stuff, it makes me think of what Edward would've felt as a teenager; to me he would've been cynical and dissilusioned with life. Lyrics: "faith, you're driving me away / you do it everyday / you don't mean it / but it hurts like hell"

Bound For The Floor by Local H - The whole song reminds me of the part in the comics where Edward is trying to figure out what is really going on with Renewal and becomes frustrated. Lyrics highlight: "and you just don't get it, you keep it copacetic / and you learn to accept it, you know you're so pathetic"

I'm Your Boyfriend Now by They Might Be Giants - This is more of a Riddlebat song than a purely Riddler song and dips more into fanon than anything else, since a common interpretation of his character is having stalker tendencies when regarding romantic interests (looking at Batman rn). I think it's pretty fitting and this fanart inspired me to put it here. Lyrics: "you don't have to say it, I can see it in your eyes / I can feel it in your heart / I can hear it in your silence"

Inside My Head by Radiohead - The entire song is VERY close to his character (or at least how I view it), he is constantly blaming himself and when he realizes his situation had always been out of his control to begin with he turns to spite against everyone and everything that wronged or rejected him. For a long time he doesn't understand or know why his life is the way it is because he drowns in self-deprecation. Lyrics: "what do you want from me? / now you got me / now my fingers bleed / now they're staring at me / I'm a coward now / I hold my peace"

All I Think About Now by Pixies - Just a personal headcanon of mine that if he'd ever had a happy moment (such as the hope he felt when Thomas Wayne told him he had a future), he would mourn it and drown in all the possibilities of what his life could've been. Lyrics: "about the things that didn't last / if I could go to the beginning / then for sure I would be another way / make it better for today"

Baby, You're a Bomb by Get Set Go - Fanon Riddlebat song. The interpretation of Edward being so desperate for Batman's attention and being into pain at the same time is a very interesting mix. Lyrics: "take my body, take my soul / take the thoughts inside my head / you can masticate me whole / just don't leave me 'til I'm dead"

Bullet With Butterfly Wings - About Edward's rage and discontent, and his feelings towards the city. Lyrics: "the world is a vampire sent to drain / secret destroyers hold you up to the flames / and what do I get for my pain? / betrayed desires and a piece of the game"

Only by Nine Inch Nails - Edward's relationship towards Batman as he transforms into The Riddler. He is losing his old self, knowing that whoever he used to be is not of help to his cause: the only thing that matters is the pain he's felt. It also works as a reflection of his feelings towards Batman after he is rejected by him in the talking room scene. Lyrics: "now I am somewhere I am not supposed to be / and I can see things I never should've seen / and now I know why, and now I know why / things aren't as pretty on the inside"

Trouble Awful Devil Evil by They Might Be Giants - A moment of calmness (that I wish he could have) as he falls asleep thinking of what he will become. Here because of this fanart. Lyrics: "trouble awful devil evil / trouble awful devil evil / bat wings flapping just over my bed / swooping whirling around overhead"

No Surprises by Radiohead - Another more calm song that I believe still portrays his feelings towards his life accurately, seeing it through a lens of sadness rather than rage and despair. Lyrics: "a heart that's full up like a landfill / a job that slowly kills you / bruises that won't heal / you look so tired, unhappy / bring down the government / they don't, they don't speak for us"

Heaven Beside You by Alice In Chains - Again a song about his relationship with Batman (sorry), more of a headcanon/personal interpretation than anything. Still I think it shows how he would feel if he ever came to peace with the realization that Batman is Bruce Wayne (unlikely, but still). The song is pretty repetitive so I don't think it's necessary to write down the lyrics.

Bailando Solo by Los Bunkers - Token song in spanish, about what his teenage self felt a lot of the time (in my opinion). Lyrics, translated by me: "now that you're here, drowned in the middle of the crowd / and you're willing to do more than you can stand / the speakers amplifying the truth / now that you're here, in the middle of loneliness"

Discipline by Nine Inch Nails - Yet another song about him and Batman, about how he feels they help each other, and about how his cause and his "relationship" with him become his reasons to live. Lyrics: "and now it's starting up / feels like I'm losing touch / and nothing matters to me / nothing matters as much"

Creep by Radiohead - I couldn't NOT include this here. He often feels inadequate, rejected both by society and by himself, and he finds meaning in his life (or at least a new reason, a new drive) when he first sees Batman. Don't get me wrong I love this girl as a friend but she gets so annoying I need to fucking say it to someone.

I've known her since like freshman year but we only like just started like talking talking to her like a year ago and like I try so hard to be nice cause like don't get me wrong I don't mind hanging out with her.

She's very fucking sheltered and I think it's just a me thing and my own issues that makes me look down on like religious shelter kids but like she is a fucking adult.

She only wears one outfit and it's not like her family doesn't have money they offer to get her things and she refuses and then gets upset about not looking "cool" and it's like maybe if you didn't wear the same white shirt everyday for like 4 fucking years. She acts extremely sheltered and as if her family would kill her for liking fucking anime. I was friends with her brother who is a metal head literally grimey like atheist dude and I've talked to him and he says his parents are into it with him like that they bring him to concerts and stuff. But she acts like they'll kill her for liking anime cause it's weird. And it's like okay? She refuses to drive on freeways and at night or be out past 4 fucking pm. She's going on 19 btw. Calls her dad anytime we decide to hangout somewhere to ask for permission. And they're so fucking boring. She's also a clean freak and she went to my house and like the way she acted is not how you treat someone in their own fucking home. She was shaking when she saw my room and was pacing cause of how 'disgusting' it was. And she ruined the hangout when we went to a friend's house cause she wouldn't stop complaining about how messy her house was and refused to sit down which sorry but that's so fucking disrespectful.

The persons house we were at was not dirty in the fucking slightest but she brought the whole vibe down cause she refused to sit and was like sorry guys I can't concentrate with all this dust. And wouldn't stop pacing and until we just told her to go home.

Not only that but like she's one of those girls thats like guys I can't have sugar I'm too dainty ill have a sugar rush and shake and she had a monster one time and that bitch was vibrating for like 5 hrs and it's like bro that monster a rehab monster mind you did not just do that to you.

Also she refuses to have an open about things like I fucking hate neutral people like that. And with the clean thing it's making it so she doesn't even want a job. She wants to go on this big fancy trip to see her friends but it'll cost like 500 dollars which is a singular fucking paycheck as a part time host at a dingy diner (from experience) but she refuses to get a job cause she doesn't want to work retail or food cause she says it's gross. And refuses to work during the week and only wants to work weekends and it's like you can't being fucking picky as a 19 year old when it comes to working and the fact you didn't want to go to college or a trade school either. I had a panic attack last week and still recovering... any tips on how to handle the recovery from it. My body is sore from the attack even a week later. I seen your blog on my recommended blogs to follow and been struggling with my Anxiety with limited resourceful help.

I know the feeling well. Panic attacks can be way more debilitating than people talk about. It varies from person to person and I am not a therapist, but for your sore body I would recommend besides plenty of rest, food and fluids, that you take at least some ibuprofen or something to help relax your muscles and decrease inflammation. Of course I think you should go to a doctor that might prescribe you with medication to help your panic attacks, but I am not sure you could do so because you said you have limited resources.

A warm bath or shower can be really helpful. If you are too tired, use a chair, sit down and let the water run, feel it in your muscles, focus on it. Put on some relaxing music, whichever you prefer, but a song that makes you feel at peace. There are playlists on YouTube of happy songs/relaxing songs and they are really great and in my opinion they can be better that the playlists Spotify makes up. I always have playlists sorted on YouTube to relax me, even if it's just ambient sounds. Sit there, listening to music, letting your muscles relax.

If you have heating pads at home, use them, but be mindful of not hurting yourself while using them. Cover yourself up with fresh blankets. Put on some nice perfume or incense to burn.

Keep your senses focused on listening to something relaxing, pleasant smells, comfort around your body, take medicine if you need to, eat some comfort food to keep your energy up (panic attacks can be so draining on our energy), focus on the room around you, on slowing down your breathing. Allow yourself to feel comfortable.

And then take a long, long nap. Panic attacks are exhausting and it is perfectly fine to want to sleep a lot after one. Don't feel guilty, just let the sleepiness set in. Don't pressure yourself to heal as fast as you can or to sleep immediately so you can wake up feeling refreshed as those things might give you anxiety and make the panic attack come back.

Focus on soothing yourself.

Don't be afraid to ask a friend or a family member for help if you feel too debilitated. Also, don't self-isolate. Talk to someone about it. Socializing is very important and it might make you anxious at first to be vulnerable but knowing that there is someone out there willing to listen helps a lot. Reach out to as many people as you need until you find someone you can feel safe with your experiences. Don't give up when someone doesn't understand why you are feeling bad. Being social and feeling included and cared for is very important, even if you can only text/call a person.

As soon as you are able, please search for a therapist and/or a doctor that can help you! I hope you get better and that you can have more resources for help soon!!

BTS Tutorial: Pandora's Unlimited Looping

As Whoopi Goldberg once famously said in the movie Ghost: "You in danger, girl." Many chart accounts on Twitter are saying our streams have Jimin dropping out of the Top 20 already.

Looping on Pandora is a crucial strategy at a critical time when YouTube is deleting views, radio is reluctant, and our Spotify playlists must support several members. We must make use of all tools available.

Please read this post and share the link to this tutorial with all big accounts and your social media. We need all hands on deck.

Pandora is an old and trusted streaming service that counts for Billboard charts.

If you have a free 90-day premium trial, it lets you make your own playlist that you can loop for 24 straight hours without clicking around or signing in.

Here's why you don't want to just use the free version:

--the streams count three times LESS than premium streams

--Pandora will auto-play other songs in between the songs you want

--there are constant ads you have to sit through to get to a song

So just bite the bullet and use a free trial. It's good for months and they will remind you before you get charged!

Okay, so, let's assume you've been a good ARMY and you've made your free premium Pandora account.

You want to start straight away searching for songs to save into MY COLLECTION.

Today, we need to make a playlist to promote Face--specifically Like Crazy. (We can also use this strategy later to help all of BT'S songs. Our goal right now is to prevent freefall in Week 3 before D-Day is out. But this will be good practice for all our boys once we get it down pat, especially if YouTube doesn't get straightened out!)

Now look here. There are 1,440 minutes in a day. We know Like Crazy is 3:32 minutes long. In theory, you could loop this song 410+ times in a day and all those plays will count. We know that 150 premium streams is the equivalent of buying the song once, so looping like this is like buying the song twice that day.

THIS IS HOW WE BEAT THE DROP IN SALES AND CULLED VIEWS.

I am not saying you shouldn't buy. You should. In fact, both SHERRY and JIMIN FUNDS will be prioritizing Like Crazy digitals in Week 3, so please buy if you are US/PR ARMY and can make new accounts!

Kyōtani Kentarou x reader, sfw, fluff, 1,691word count 

His room for the most part was clean. It’s main function was for sleep though. This was apparent. His clothes, which were mainly basketball shorts and blank t-shirts, were scattered about in a way that told you he threw them there when going to bed.

Kyotani had told you to give him a few minutes, while he was in the bathroom brushing his teeth and struggling with the cap of his eyeliner pen. You felt comfortable enough in his apartment to check the fridge and see if anything was worth your while. But still you felt a bit like an intruder in his bedroom, which is where you had wandered off to.

The walls were white, mostly bare. There was a poster up for some band you didn't recognize, and another one advertising the Sendai Frogs that looked like he had ripped it off one wall to get onto his. You smiled at the thought of him stealing the poster from the grocery store display window or stadium parking lot.

You give his room one last once over before turning to leave. On your way out you trip over a shoe box. You would have just ignored it but a few tufts of paper flew out from the lid. You bend down to collect them but find that these aren't just trash from the shoe box. Quietly, and with a tinge of guilt, you kneel down to gently put the papers back in the box. The little scraps of paper you had found were actually sticky notes, you couldn't decipher the writing on them because of how faded and old the paper was.

You get one quick glimpse inside the shoe box on Kyotani’s floor. There are dozens of papers, printed photos, receipts, tickets, and what you assume are old keys. You feel like you've seen something very private of Kyotani’s and when you turn around to find him standing in the doorway, you gasp in shock.

“What are you doing in here?”

He seems more concerned and confused about you versus the fact that you are in his room. You decide sarcasm is the best choice of action.

“What? You embarrassed about me being in your bedroom?”

“Shut up and get out!”

Kyotani puts his hands on your shoulders and tosses you out into the hallway.

“Hey, hey, what time is it because we might actually be late to the movie now,”

You say pulling out your phone to get a glance at the clock. There was only twenty minutes before you were supposed to be at the theater.

“We’ll be fine, the trailers always play for too long anyways”

He says leading you out the front door.

When the team wins a game and you head out to eat with the guys afterwards, your eyes don't usually follow Kyotani’s hands so closely. You hope that no one else has picked up on your new habit. But last week's venture into his bedroom has left you reeling in thought.

Kyotani doesn't really like to be hugged. During movie nights he sits separate from the pile of pillows and bodies. He tolerates head pats and high fives. When he hangs up the phone you can feel how difficult it is for him to say something like “bye I love you” platonic or not.

You hadn't really considered it before, at least not so intently in relation to Kyotani. Most people were easy to understand in their affections and how they garnered it. Or if they weren't so obvious, they made some sort of distinction, a simple “I don't like when people do this” or “I prefer this”.

Being friends with Kyotani you had assumed that he was content with what people gave him because he never asked for more. He didn't hug you when you two parted ways, and you never forced him to. He didn't ask or push on others boundaries but now after seeing that shoe box you wondered why he had never advocated for his own. You thought perhaps it wasnt that Kyotani disliked those other forms of affection or care, but rather he didn't regard those other acts as affections at all.

The sounds of the restaurant fade back in as your thoughts simmer down. You feel Tsukishima and Yamaguchi next to you. Enthralled in a conversation about some show they had been binging together. Apparently Yamaguchi had watched a few episodes without Tsukishima and everyone found the annoyed, bitter expression on Tsukishima hilarious, the table erupting in laughter.

“You good? You've been staring at nothing for five minutes,”

Kyotani said to you before taking another bite into his food. He sat across from you, his elbows propping him up over his plate of food.

“Yeah, just tired today,”

You say shaking your head as if trying to wake yourself up.

As the evening wears on, your eyes still follow Kyotani’s hands. Trying to catch the moment of thievery in action. To see if your contemplations are grounded in Kyotani’s actions or rather thoughts with nothing to hold as they pass you by.

But as everyone files out of the restaurant, the bill already split, the copy of the receipt abandoned on the table, you watch as Kyotani lingers for just a moment, to pocket the slip of paper.

You couldn't remember the last time you had attempted to burn a CD. Was it you who did it or a friend? It was years ago though that was for sure. You had made three playlists on spotify, checking and double checking that they were private playlists. After arranging them and finding the songs that fit just right with each list you started finding youtube videos of each song. From there you converted the links to MP3 audio.

While your computer whirred and the audio filed loaded onto the disk you thought about decorating the CD cases. Of course covering the clear plastic case with glitter gel pen and cute stickers was very tempting. But you weren't sure that was Kyotani’s style. At the same time this was supposed to be a gift from you. You met yourself halfway.  Decorating one CD case like how you would have wanted, and the other with more of a Kyotani flair, the third somewhere in between the two.

When the CD’s were done you carefully placed them into their new plastic homes. Grabbing a black sharpie to scribble the playlist names onto each. You felt like wrapping them would be too extravagant so you settled for tying a ribbon around the two.

“What the hell do you want?” Kyotani says as he pulls up next to you on the curb outside your place. You had texted him earlier while he was at work, asking if could stop by after he got off. He has the window rolled down and you take it upon yourself to unlock the passenger door and climb inside.

"I wanted you to test these out"

You were hoping that you had done everything right with the computer.You hand him the CD's, he flips them over in his hands inspecting them.

“Is it cool if I take these ribbons off?”

You nod and he turns the car radio on to insert the CD’s. As the first song starts playing you turn to him.

“This is that band you like right? The one on that poster in your room?”

Kyotani is visibly flustered by this.

“Yes? Did you...did you make these for me?”

You throw your head back in a laugh.

“Yes, I made them for you,”

“Oh,”

He says in a rather soft amazed tone.

“Look, I didn't mean to, but when I was in your room the other day I tripped over that shoe box you have,”

You keep your eyes trained on the street outside the dashboard window. Unsure and a bit nervous to see what Kyotani is thinking. Tempted by curiosity though, you do look at him for a brief moment, only to find him also intensely staring off into the street. His face lit up red with embarrassment.

“I’m glad that I saw it though. Because that stuff is important to you and I want to know what you think is important”

The air in the car feels like it is clinging to your skin with tension. You think the pressure will start to crack your bones when Kyotani’s voice splinters the suspense.

“It's easier to feel something when its tangible, when you can hold it, it's why people still buy polaroids and go to museums and shit”

You nod, a jovial ease overcoming you as he continues to speak.

“I don't really like, uh, I guess physical affection or even talking or it’s not like talking, people call it words of affirmation or whatever,”

You hold the smile of your lips down, you don't want him to think you’re teasing him in this moment. You're just happy that he is comfortable enough with you to say such things.

“I know lots of other people like to have those types of things though, and I worked really hard to get used to stuff, but I don't know, this is what I like,”

He says gesturing with the CD case to you.

“I mean so like, birthday cards, post-it notes, bus transfers? Things that are directly attached to memories and people? Anything else you want me to know about?”

While it hurts a little that he’s struggling to talk about this matter, you can't help but revel in the unusual brash shyness of Kyotani. He does mutter something, but when you lean in closer to signal that you didn't hear him the first time he repeats himself.

“Event pamphlets. I know it's trash but I like it”

“Promise you won't get mad?”

You drawl your voice out and make it sweet so he knows you're messing with him.

“Hm?”

He says, eyebrow quirked in question.

“I think you'd be really into scrapbooking”

“Shut the hell up before I kick you out of my car”

Micky and Davy Solo Stuff

Look this is a complicated topic for me to talk about because even just looking at their discography on Discogs, you'll notice that they both bounce around from record label to record label, Davy especially. Literally I shit you not if you look on Wikipedia at his list of albums and singles they admit it's an inconclusive list because he bounced around a lot. So yeah that makes this list harder for me.

However, I am way too tired to track everything down, so you will get my 8 hour Spotify playlist link to Monkees albums, singles, and solo albums that are on there of the boys that I like.

However, it doesn't include some albums I like, so I have a YouTube playlist that has the same function.

My first side note is the following:

I haven't found any way to include the music from Micky's Live In Japan album he did, I have the vinyl of it and I really like it, but I unfortunately don't have the stuff needed to make a nice vinyl rip like I would want to for YouTube, so I had to leave that out. 7a seems to have some vinyl rips on Facebook but I refuse to go on there so you're on your own.

Secondly, I found on tumblr dot com an MP3 file for Davy's Live In Tokyo 1999 album that I literally can not find and is apparently very hard to find. He says the word ass in the song so it's a must listen. I'm including the link to the post for your listening pleasure.

this song is actually the bane of my life bc it's only on youtube and some obscure french album but it is just... one of the most gorgeous songs ever. if you don't speak french you should just to understand this song. srsly. my favourite part is 'La météo cruelle, moi j'aime autant // Faire l'amour dans le mauvais temps' which essentially means that the weather is cruel but i love making love in bad weather just as much as normally and idk. has always made me cry and then when i think of grgbr and the florida issue i just think of this :( very sad but also very much love in the moment

i can't believe that nobody has mentioned this one yet!!!!! it's where the title of 'it felt like love', you know, the MOST iconic georgebur fanfiction (according to ao3 i have read it 16 times) comes from, and it is just one of the loveliest songs ever,, it has these GORGEOUS harmonies omg. i actually can't pick a favourite parts all the verses are just so gorgeous.. but to give a taste one of the lyrics is 'And in the morning, you adored me 'til the sun went down // And then I knew you were the one I couldn't live without // If I'm honest, it felt like love'

ngl part of the reason this one is here is because it was on the radio once when i was having a mental breakdown because of a fic,, however it is so vibey and brilliant and georgebur. the lyrics are so good and it is so upbeat esp compared to the others. fuckin love this song. not traditional georgebur vibes, but this is what wilbur was saying when he said george im drunk and im lonely come visit me soooo. anyway taster lyrics ''Cause you are the piece of me I wish I didn't need // Chasing relentlessly, still fight and I don't know why' ;)

was originally gonna end with a happy one but this song just punches me in the gut so hard i may or may not have tears in my eyes as i write this,but uhm, this song slaps so hard it is very sad but slaps so hard and honestly all the songs from end credits and i think you think too much of me are georgebur coded, but this one always hits me the hardest. anyway here's a lyric. i love eden. I saw your post about needing book recs, and oof. I feel your pain. I used to be someone who read A LOT. And then things took a turn for the worst and I’m lucky if I read one book a year. Anyway, my favorite books that I will read no matter what/I have fond memories of are:

The Graceling Chronicles by Kristin Cashore, particularly Fire, which can be read alone. It’s a fantasy series that deals with some heavy-ish topics at times, but does so in a way that is easy to understand and not feel overwhelmed.

In My Hands by Irene Gut Opdyke. All time favorite non-fiction. It is, however, a Holocaust story. It is about the journey of a Polish woman to save several Jews in the house of a Nazi officer. Super good- super heavy and do not recommend if you can’t handle things like the Holocaust in general & other war crimes.

Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. Literally my all time favorite fictional book. The pining, the yearning, I just adore it. If you can’t read it, then I highly recommend the BBC’s 1995 tv miniseries on Hulu. The 2005 movie is good too, don’t get me wrong, but the miniseries is just! Ugh!! Colin Firth as Mr. Darcy is just perfection.

I really enjoyed the Inheritance Cycle by Christopher Paolini. Written by him when he was 15, this series was the only one of the few things to bring me joy. It’s about Dragons, Elves, Dwarves, magic, trust, friendship, betrayal, and family. There are 4 books in the series. I will say that the first book, we’ll, you can tell he was quite young when he first wrote it. But that’s really the only complaint I’ve ever heard. My dad (61 this coming May) LOVES this series. He used to really only read the Jack Ryan stuff by Tom Clancy.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians by Rick Riordan. My sister’s favorite when she was growing up. It’s so inclusive and is about a boy holding the Greek gods accountable for their actions.

Lord of the Rings by J. R. R. Tolkien. Start with the Hobbit, and then go from there. (Andy Serkis, the guy who plays Gollum in the movies, reads the audiobook, which you can find on YouTube.) as for the trilogy, there’s a really good playlist on Spotify that has someone reading all 3 books. It’s about 48 hours long.

I also really enjoy A Little Princess by Frances Burnett. It’s about a little girl in England. She was sent away from India to a boarding school. Her father is very rich, and then apparently loses his wealth. She is turned into a drudgery maid at the very boarding school she attended. Happy ending.

I know some of these are YA, but sometimes you need to not take the world so seriously and just battle an evil king once in a while. All of them have (mostly) happy endings. Some could be called bittersweet.

I’m currently reading Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, and it’s very entertaining. It’s got everything I love about the original, plus zombies. Also, if you’d like free/cheap eBooks, may I recommend BookBub? They’ll send to your preferred reading app (iBooks, kindle, etc.). I may not read too much anymore, but do I have a collection of books to read when I want. You choose the genres you like and they’ll send a daily email.

first things first, the hobbit is my favorite book of all time. i grew up a big fantasy/sci-fi reader, mostly because i was making my way through my father's collection of books and that's mostly what he had, haha.

have you ever heard the bbc radio production of the lord of the rings. it's incredible. my dad had a the whole cassette tape set (lololll) and we used to listen to it on long car rides, especially on vacation drives in the summer. it's my favorite audio production of any book i've ever listened to.

i read eragon when it first came out (or at least soon thereafter), but never read any of the other books. i might have to dust off my old unused copy of eldest and see if i can jump back in.

i really enjoyed pride and prejudice and zombies (the movie, that is) and should def try the book because that is very much my shit, haha. aside from that parody, colin firth is the only mr. darcy i will ever acknowledge. <3

i've never heard of the graceling chronicles, but given your other suggestions here being very inline with my own tastes, i'll def be adding it to my list so i can look into it.

I decided to make playlists for Cathala and Tarinne plus explanations for why I chose each song because I entered one of those ADHD fugue states and if I didn't finish this task I would die

Anyway here are the two links (they're youtube playlists because I don't have spotify. I would obviously recommend using an adblocker if you're just gonna watch on youtube) and the explanations for each song are below the cut :) Each playlist is about an hour long.

For Tarinne’s:

1. Foggy Nights: I consider this her theme so putting it first as a sort of intro only makes sense.

2. Here’s a Health to the Company: I think this works as an example of her general disposition. She’s a people person, and always a fan of singing these sorts of songs in taverns, on ships, or what have you. It also kind of feels like a sendoff to soldiers, which I imagine symbolizes her joining the Sentinel Army and quickly thereafter fighting in the Third War.

3. Wartime Prayers: Somewhat self-explanatory, this is symbolizing her seeing war for the first time, but I also included it because the last line transitions SO WELL into the next song.

4. The Hollow: This song is an intro to an album I've never heard so I don't know the context, but I really love it because it sounds like someone praying to their deity and like I mean c'mon. Elune. Tarinne's praying to Elune to guide her through the war. Do I need to elabo-

5. Wave Walker: KILL DEATH MAIM AHAHAHAHA

6. Isil Elun’falo: Just a super rad fan-made night elf song that's basically "wow we sure do love Elune" said in twenty different ways for four and a half minutes. But it ROCKS and I LOVE it.

7. Chewing Cotton Wool: This song is about losing a loved one (I did have to check but yeah that's what it is) and I use it to symbolize Tarinne losing her mom during the war. The last line, which includes the song's title, I especially like. It's referring to how morticians (apparently) put cotton gauze in a corpse's throat and mouth to keep body fluids in and make the face look more natural. So there's a fun fact for you.

8. See U Soon (Song for Dad): Just a short lofi piece to rest a bit, and it was also chosen because the title's in reference to Tarinne growing closer to her dad after losing her mom. She still visits him at his leathers and furs shop in Stormwind fairly often, especially after dangerous adventures. She just wants to make sure he knows she's alright ;-;

9. No Lullaby: Right back into it with a song that I use to represent Tarinne's general feeling of not being able to go home because it's not there anymore. She's felt like this since the end of the Third War, but it's especially strong since the whole Teldrassil thing. But I like the ending, "who said you're on your own," because it contrasts the repeating of "alone" in the rest of the song. And it's kinda like "hey, listen, you're not the only one who feels like she can't go home." I mean that's probably how basically every single night elf feels right now skxnks

10. The Moss: This song juxtaposes classic fairy tales with scientific facts about the world and I love it to BITS. I'm using it here to represent both Tarinne's love for storytelling but also her sort of... part-time historian/archaeologist/conservator career.

11. Rasputin: I just associate this song with her for some reason and this was the best place to put it.

12. Electric Feel: Moving on to focus more on Tarinne's relationship with Cathala now. This is an extremely great and somewhat 😏 song that I also included because the electricity theme is appropriate because Cathala has lightning powers and y'know it's from Tarinne's perspective or whatever.

13. Bedroom Hymns: You know why this is here.

14. Movement: I can't talk about love songs without talking about Hozier, okay. This is just a nice, slower song to relax a bit with.

15. Never Let Me Go: I have an entire goddamn music video in my head with Cathala and Tarinne for this song and it’s very dramatic and emotional and I had to include this song or I’d die. Basically just listen to near the end of this song when she's repeating the title over and over, and imagine the two of them seeing each other at opposite ends of a battlefield after the dust settles and they rush towards each other and fall to their knees holding on as tightly as they can because they got separated early on and each thought the other was dead. Then you'll know how I feel when I listen to this song.

16. Nothing That Has Happened So Far Has Been Anything We Could Control: First of all I love the title, and second of all there's a big section in the middle (1:49 to 2:47) that I like to interpret as the two of them grappling with the fact that they're not really quite sure who or what they're fighting for anymore. Their people, yeah, but there's so many alliances and semi-permanent enemies and only-on-every-other-thursday-enemies all intertwined and the world is just so very confusing and they're trying to make the best of it. Elf school didn’t include international, interracial politics in its curriculum. It did however include how to properly plant trees, and AP calculus (this is a joke).

17. In Dreams: I like to imagine this song is something the two of them would say to each other, as a way of saying “even when everything we know is gone, even when the world ends, I will still be by your side. And if I’m not, don’t fear, for I will find you.” It makes a nice note to end on :)

For Cathala’s:

1. muse: Just a nice lofi intro to get us into things :) I don't see this song as her theme, like I do with Tarinne and the first song in her playlist, but I like it quite a bit. I don't actually really have a theme for Cathala yet, I'm currently going with a version of Way of the Monk from WoW's OST but I'm still looking for something better.

2. Frogs Singing: I included this because it's about just appreciating nature, which works because night elf and also mindfulness and meditation is a whole thing.

3. Tongues: This is a song about feeling distant from your peers which is like Cathala's whole existence! She's this weird mix of two cultures and ultimately she feels out of place regardless of where she is or who she's with. Also the theme with not understanding what people are saying works because the poor woman had to learn Pandaren from scratch and that shit ain't easy. I think blizz said somewhere probably that Common is just a language that EVERYONE knows inherently because Video Game but that's bullshit in my opinion. I'll allow spells that let you understand foreign languages to an extent (Comprehend Languages from D&D lets you understand the LITERAL meaning only, which I like), but every culture and species in the universe knowing Common is silly if you think about it for more than two seconds.

4. Kung Fu Fighting: I'm legally required to include this song. Also I prefer the Kung Fu Panda version, I'm sorry.

5. Harder Better Faster Stronger: I vicariously experience having a great work ethic through Cathala and that's why this song is here because she has 999 Determination and does Too Many push-ups every day or something idk. I was gonna say "every morning" but I have a headcanon that elves only need to sleep every couple of days (sort of a nod to "elves don't need to sleep at all" from D&D, and to explain why NIGHT elves are active at all hours of the day) so that doesn't work.

6. What's Up Danger: This song is Cathala's whole Vibe. Almost zero threat assessment skills in this woman's brain. If it can be punched, she will punch it.

7. Eye for an Eye: Fairly self-explanatory, it's a song about wanting revenge so... yeah. Checked that box. It was this or The Vengeful One by Disturbed but ultimately The Vengeful One's religious symbolism probably makes it fit better as a Tyrande theme lol ("I'm the hand of god, I'm the dark messiah." Did you mean: the Night Warrior)

8. Survivor: Cathala's survived a lot of shit and this could kinda be her making fun of herself for it because "Gods, man! Don't I deserve a break!"

9. Ashes: Really the reason I include this song is the last chunk (2:42 to the end) because holy shit. Listen, if I was gonna include a song with fire motifs, it was gonna be a somber one like this.

10. Into the West: This can kinda represent Cathala just trying to fucking breathe and recover from Teldrassil. Also works because I dunno it has stuff to do with the elves in LotR, I haven't seen those movies in a while. It sounds nice and is melancholy so I included it.

11. Like Real People Do: Cathala loves Tarinne a lot you guys have I ever menti-

12. Into the Wild: Tarinne changed Cathala's world for the better and she's super fucking grateful she has her by her side. Kinda goes without saying but you know.

13. Chasing the Moon: I have a vague music video in my head for this of them falling in love and it's very cute so there's that. Also it's in this specific spot because hey she may be deeply traumatized but she's still got a fair number of things/people in her life that make her happy so :)

14. Follow My Girl: I've got a theme going in my head that while Tarinne is fairly certain of her place in the world, Cathala is still trying to find hers. She outlived all her connections on Pandaria because Elf Lifespans(tm) and the only members of her family still alive are distant relatives she never knew very well.

15. Wish That You Were Here: This works both to represent Cathala on Pandaria feeling super homesick, and for more recently after Teldrassil. Either way, it's a message to her parents and sister.

16. Mr. Fear: She does her damnedest to hide it but she's absolutely terrified something like Teldrassil's gonna happen again! That fear drives her to do everything in her power to protect who and what she can. As long as they're not Forsaken, cause she's still got her biases, that compassion even extends across faction lines. She never really got the whole Alliance/Horde thing anyway. Innocent people shouldn't have to die, regardless of who or what they are.

17. Ordinary Day: Not to get super out there but I think this song works as symbolizing Cathala really trying to hold on to her faith in Elune, but ultimately feeling pretty abandoned. I mean she can clearly see Elune's influence everywhere. But Elune sure ain't doing Cathala any favors as far as she can tell! It also ends the whole playlist on maybe a bit of an uncertain/open-ended note, because this "losing faith" aspect is a new thing with her and will definitely be something she continues to struggle with for a while. On a related note, I should say Tarinne is still very much devout but she gets what Cathala's feeling and doesn't force anything on her, and vice versa. And Cathala wouldn't become atheist, the night elves aren't monotheistic and she still worships all the other deities, it's just specifically Elune she's a little :/ on.
