Hi, how are you? Could you write Harry Hook and male reader? The reader is Audrey's brother and super shy, and he meets Harry when the group of VKs went to save Ben.
HOWDY THERE, I'm alright thank you for asking :D I hope your doing good as well, but I can DEFINITELY do this, I'm so happy that my descendents work has been liked by the fandom and its time for the FIRST ROMANTIC FIC YAYYY so I apologize if its not amazing, lmk if there's anything I can do betterr
-SEEN-
Harry Hook x Male!Reader
Warnings: None (lmk if that's wrong)
Audrey Rose, the most popular and recognizable child of Aurora and Phillip. But not many people know or realize that she has a twin brother, Y/N.
He doesn't blame people for not knowing his lineage, he was the complete opposite of his sister. He preferred comfort over style, singularity instead of popularity, and quiet rather than loud. The only one Y/N really talked to was Ben, who would often hang out with the twin when he courted his sister. But even when the VK'S came and he got with Mal, Ben still showed his friendship and even introduced him to the darker group.
And Y/N loved the VK'S.
They just didn't care, and he admired that, without having to talk to much he became close to the small group. They almost took him under their wing and looked out for him. Basically, he never had any issues with Chad once the VK'S started hanging out with him.
So when he heard about Mal running back to the isle and the plan to get her back. He begged to go along. Ben disagreed at first but with some convincing Y/N was allowed to go with.
He had never been so excited for something before, as Evie dressed him and Ben up the clothes felt so nice, the darker tones of red and grey felt suiting, she even made his outfit to be incorporated as a hoodie which he loved.
And then finally they were off.
Ben was very nervous about being there, but with some guidance from Evie, Jay, and Carlos, they got the ways down quite quickly.
They finally made it to Mal's hideout, and Ben went up to talk to her. Y/N waiting for him to return at the bottom of the steps with the others. Though the stomping of his footsteps proved their conversation didn't go to well.
"She's not coming." Ben said annoyed and stomped off through the streets. The others paced and tried to get the attention of Mal. But Y/N ran off to catch up with Ben.
After a small jog he's back at his side, "T-try not to worry to much Ben. Mal's going through a lot, I'm sure she'll come around here soon." He said in a soft tone, trying to comfort the soon to be king.
But Ben just sighs and shakes his head, "I doubt she will, I pushed her to far.."
The two turn a corner, when suddenly they see 2 other shadows, with a low chuckle one spoke. "Well ain't this just perfect, Uma will be please with this catch. A king and a prince, aye now that's somthin' special."
They step into the light, the taller one had a kind smile on his face surprisingly, his eyes set on Ben. "I knew I recognized you Ben! My dad wishes yours would rot in the underworld by the way." Y/N was confused by the guys happiness, and turned to look at the one the spoke earlier, only to find his eyes already on him.
The boy in the red coat smirked, twirling the handheld hook in his hand. "That you did Lad. Now, lets get this crown an' beauty to Uma." And then everything went black. But Y/N wasn't scared, he only thought one thing.
Did that VK really recognize him?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Y/N slowly opens his eyes, the smell of salt water stinging his nose. He squinted and looked around, eyes adjusting to the light, he tries to move, but he finds himself tied up to a pole.
A light chuckle makes him look up, "Welcome back sleepin' beauty, sorry ya didn't geta kiss like your mum." The boy from earlier smirked, but instead of feeling threatened, Y/N's heart skipped a beat, cheeks turn a light shade of red.
"...w-who are you?" He asks in a small voice, earning a large smile from the other boy. "How rude of me, tha names Harry, and I'm sure this piece o' metal can help ya fill in the rest." He answers, twirling it around once again.
He just nods, putting together he was Captain Hooks son. "Your a quiet one aint ya. Never really talkin' much at those fancy meetings up there." Harry comments, a teasing smirk on his face as he looks him up and down.
Y/N's eyes widened at that, "You've.. noticed me? You know who I am?" He asks in such a quiet voice it was barely a whisper. And he watches as Harry's face falls for a second. He goes to answer when Ben starts to wake up. And that crazed facade comes back as he turns his attention onto the young king.
After a few minutes though the other boy who helped capture him who he learned to be Gil announced Mal and the groups arrival. They had actually brought the wand. But when she pretended to use it on dude, Y/N knew that something wasn't right.
But Uma believed it.
Harry cuts the ropes off of Ben and Y/N, complaining about how his fun was ruined, though it felt almost as if his touched lingered a little longer than normal when he cut the ropes off of Y/N.
Then Mal and Uma trade, and the two royals were back with their group.
Mal starts trying to rush Ben away as Uma attempts to use the wand, and like he suspected, it didn't work. And then a big fight breaks lose.
Y/N fights, but nothing to harm anyone, he couldn't do any such thing. Finally they get space between them and the pirates and are getting ready to make an escape, until-
"BEAUTY!!" Y/N hears Harry yell, he looks back and makes eye contact with him, the pirate smirks, still dripping wet from grabbing his hook out of the water, clothes clinging to his body.
"I always noticed ya!" He yells again, answering Y/N's question from before.
He felt is face flare up and his heart drop as he stare into the other boys eyes. Only for the contact to be broken by Jay pulling him to follow out.
In a daze Y/N followed, mind and heart hooked on the pirate that had noticed him..
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
YAYY I loved this sm I hope you do tooo, and anon I hope this makes your day dreams a little easier to imagine <3
-Also, if anyone's interested, I'd be willing to make this a part two?? Tell me if I shouldd-
Lmk if there's anything I can do to improve I welcome any and all help, also, PAUSE. RN. GET A SNACK. Reading is so fun on a full stomach, but anyways, HAVE A GOOD DAY/NIGHT MY GOOBERS, happy readingg 👾

Just A Number
Bucky Barnes x Reader
Summary: Reader meets Bucky at a party and the attraction is more than either one of them wants to resist.
Notes: Since most stories are younger readers I felt like having a more mature reader could be a nice change of pace. Especially since I'm creeping up on senior discounts and want to believe Bucky could fall in love with someone like me.
I try to keep my readers description vague but, as always, she's female, tall and this one is obviously 40+
Chapter 5
Warnings: swearing, angst, fluff
"Hello James"
Bucky kissed her hand, then pulled back to get a good look at her and felt like his heart stopped or maybe it was racing. His heart was definitely doing something.
He went to speak but his throat was suddenly dry, making him cough.
He cleared his throat "Hi Doll. You look....stunning." He was lost for any more words for a second before he forced some out "I brought these for you." he offered her a bouquet of pink roses gripped in his left hand.
Dawn stepped up when Y/N just stared at him "I'll put these in some water for you." she took the flowers and nudged her sister in the ribs which broke her stare.
Bucky smiled, encouraged that Y/N seemed as distracted by him as he was by her. "Are you ready to go? I'm kinda double parked."
She giggled and Bucky's brain almost stalled again before he laughed along with her "I know, I know, that's so New York."
Dawn smiled as they walked out the front door, secure in the knowledge that her sister was in good hands for the nite.
Bucky was a perfect gentleman, opening doors and taking her coat when they were seated in a secluded booth of the small bistro he brought her to.
They ordered wine and an appetizer to nibble on while they waited for their meals, making small talk about living in the city.
Once they had their food in front of them they both realized this was where the real talking was supposed to start and clammed up.
Bucky broke the ice "Why is the idea of us too complicated?"
Y/N choked on her food when she accidentally gasped while swallowing. She grabbed her wine to help get her food down and took a minute to compose herself.
"James, you are one of the sweetest and kindest men I've ever met and deserve so much happiness after what you've been through but I don't know if I can give you all that."
Bucky shook his head and reached for her hand, touching her gently "Doll, I don't-"
She cut him off "James, I'm too old for you."
Bucky was stunned, that wasn't what he was expecting at all. His jaw dropped and he just stared at her incredulously. He watched her eyes fill with tears before he could form a cogent response.
He shook his head and coughed to cover the laugh that threatened to come out when he realized what she said and how serious she was.
"Y/N, sweetheart. I was born in 1917. I'm over 100 years old. How could you possibly be too old for me?"
Y/N sighed as a tear ran down her face "James, I'm almost 50."
Bucky gave her a funny look "Almost 50? Seriously, what are you 35?"
She glared at him "Don't make fun of me. I'm 47. Premenopausal, which is a hormonal, moody, hot flashy nightmare. I doubt you want to deal with all that. Hell, I don't even want to deal with my mess."
"Sweetheart, you don't know Sam. You couldn't possibly be more annoying than him. Or more difficult than Helmut Zemo."
She huffed at him "Well, my last pregnancy was very difficult and I had to have a c-section so had my tubes tied. I couldn't give you any kids."
Bucky looked at her expectantly thinking there must be more than that. When she didn't continue he sighed "Doll, when did I ever say anything about wanting kids?"
She took a deep breath "You didn't but I know that was the expectation during your time and I know that your chance for that happily ever after was taken from you. You deserve all that."
Bucky shook his head "I never thought about any of that back then. I was busy taking care of Steve and trying to keep us alive through the depression. Then the war started and I honestly didn't think I'd survive."
"What about the ladies man I've heard about? You never thought of settling down with any of them? Having a family?"
She asked softly.
"Nah, it was all just for fun." He rubbed her hand lightly "None of them were half the woman you are. The past is done, this is my time now and I want you. A partner in crime, a travel companion to see the world with, without a war or mission" he lowered his voice "a lover."
She shivered at the way his voice washed over her and tried to keep her head clear "You would have to meet my kids. They're grown and don't live with me anymore but are a bit protective after everything. We usually have dinner together on Sundays."
Bucky smiled "Dinner with your kids isn't a problem."
He paused, unsure if he should push but he wanted everything on the table "So what's everything? The Snap?"
Y/N nodded, feeling a bit more confident since he hadn't run away screaming
"I had a partner, since high school but he didn't believe in marriage. Mike was my first in a lot of ways. I met him when I was 13, we started dating when I was 14 and I was pregnant at 17 when I graduated high school."
She felt her eyes filling up again thinking about him. "I suppose I was lucky, when the snap happened my kids and Dawn were still here with me but I lost Mike. When it was reversed I was so happy and excited to see him again."
She looked down "Mike was an electrician and was working on some new apartments when it happened. When it was reversed he showed up in the same place but the apartment had been finished and rented. The tenant didn't know what was happening, he just saw a strange man in his home and he" she choked up before clearing her throat and softly finishing "He shot and killed him."
Bucky's eyes grew wide "Jesus" he whispered "I'm so sorry you went through that doll."
"It took two weeks before he was identified and the police stopped by to tell me." She dabbed the tears from her eyes. "We were together for over 30 years and I'm not sure I know how to have a relationship after losing him, twice."
Bucky smiled at her "And I've spent my life frozen or fighting and haven't had a real relationship, well ever. We can learn together."
She smiled nervously "I, I don't know. It's a little scary. I didn't even date or anything during the blip, the world was so weird and people were a little nuts."
Bucky nodded "Why don't you let me court you, Doll? We can take it slow and see how it goes. Don't you deserve a chance to be happy again?"
He smirked "Even at your advanced age you still deserve love and happiness."
She giggled and lightly slapped his hand "Cracks about my age won't endear you to me so watch yourself."
"Fine, fine. I'll be nice." He paused with a twinkle in his eyes "Don't want to stress your aged heart out."
She pinched his arm "Just because I'm not a super soldier doesn't mean I won't hurt you."
Bucky laughed "Sorry doll, couldn't help myself. I'll be good now."
"Riiight, you better be good Barnes or I'll make friends with Sam and team up against you." She threatened.
Bucky made an exaggerated gasp and put his left hand over his heart like he was in pain "You wouldn't dare."
Y/N laughed out loud at the shocked face he made. "I suppose it's only fair to give you a chance. It would be too cruel to give you just a taste and then withhold my awesomeness. You had better make it worth my while Sargent Barnes."
Bucky smiled at her, lighting up his face, and she was glad she was sitting because she saw what all those girls he romanced back in his day must have seen and her knees felt weak.
He thought for a moment, contemplating if he should bring up her connection to John Walker before deciding that their pasts are why they were here.
"So, how did you end up a Walker?"
She sighed "When I was growing up, before my parents died they were our next door neighbors in Astoria. I babysat for them, Dawn was like my own little baby doll. Johnny and I were close, I taught him how to swing a bat and catch a ball. I always had so much fun with them.
One night, when I was 12 I was at a sleepover with a friend from school and there was a fire. Both of my parents were killed. I didn't really have any other family so the Walker's took me in."
She shook her head trying to clear the emotions away. "They were good people and things were pretty good until Johnny started puberty. He got in with some douchebag jock guys and they teased him about me. Dared him to ask me out and bullied him when I refused. He kept bugging me until Mike stepped in. Johnny has resented me ever since. I caught him bragging to Lamar that he would get me after I lost Mike but.....no."
Bucky shook his head "I knew he was garbage but, damn."
"Yeah, he wasn't happy when he heard me telling Dawn about running into you. Whined about how you and Sam testified against him." She shrugged "He's been mad at me and talking shit since I turned him down, I'm used to it."
Bucky frowned "You let me know if it gets to be too much. Now that he has the serum he's more dangerous."
When they finished their dinner they shared a cannoli for dessert and finished their bottle of wine. They were relaxed and happy, having aired the big stuff, talking about everything big and small from favorite color or music to stories about both of their childhoods.
They held hands in the car on the way back to her place. When they arrived Bucky double parked to walk her to the front door.
Y/N looked at him shyly "Do you want to come in for a drink?"
Bucky growled softly, pulling her closer to him, his left hand on her lower back, his right caressing her cheek. "More than you know but we both know it won't stop with a drink and we're taking things slow."
He moved his right hand to the back of her neck and pulled her closer, leaning in to kiss her softly.
Y/N sighed into the kiss, her hands combing through his hair, nails gently scratching his scalp and he couldn't help himself from tracing her lips with his tongue until she let him in. Bucky deepened the kiss and groaned softly before he pulled away.
"You're not making this easy, doll."
She giggled "That's not my job sarge."
Bucky smirked "I'll remember that."
"That's the point."
Bucky kissed her again "You busy tomorrow? Lunch?"
She pouted at him "No, I have chores and errands. Plus dinner with the kids. I think I should tell them about you before they meet you." She pulled on his hair making him groan. "Maybe in a few weeks?"
Bucky shrugged "Whenever you're ready is fine with me. I don't want to push you into anything you aren't comfortable with."
He kissed her again "One nite this week?"
She nodded, answering him in a breathy voice "I'll text you when I look at Peppers schedule on Monday and figure out what nite is good."
"You can text me before that. Or call. Whenever."
She giggled "G'nite James."
"G'nite doll." He stood there until she had closed and locked the door behind her.
When Y/N made it to her bedroom she changed into an oversized t-shirt before falling into her bed and pulling her phone out of her purse. She sent Bucky a text
'Thank you for tonite, I had a great time XOXO'
Bucky saw the text when he got back to his place 'Me too. See you soon.'
Both of them fell asleep smiling that nite.

My latest sewing creation! I made a red riding hood outfit in 2022 and had a bunch of red flannel leftover, so I figured "oh I'll just make a nice simple bodice and attach it to this christmas tablecloth from the thrift store". anyway, 50 hours later... lol.
I'm actually pretty happy with it, and this'll be the first thing I've made for regular day wear (beyond the coat I also made). There are pretty much no winter dresses you can find that aren't either sweater dresses (which I hate; they make you look like a worm) or vintage. I'm sad I can't wear it now, because it's 95 degrees outside.
Some of the finer details:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The bodice is lined with some leftover lining fabric I had from the same red riding hood outfit
The pockets are finished with seam binding to prevent fraying. There's an extra strap and hook on the waist to prevent strain on the buttons.
The cuffs are lined and because I didn't want to have to buy anything, I used whatever I had around to make the button loops
Because it's a circular tablecloth, there were no side seams, so I added two welted pockets on each side. I can't really get my hand into them, but my phone fits at least, and they're very deep!
I used french seams wherever there wasn't lining, so I didn't have to do any overlocking or zig-zag stitches
Sadly, right around the time I was finishing this dress up, the stitch length dial on my beloved 1960s-era White machine fell off. I have my doubts it's fixable, but it's with a repair person for an indefinite amount of time right now and I'm real sad about it. My turqouise lady did a great job on this and she will be sorely missed. Thankfully all I had left over to do were the button holes and pockets, and I was gonna do the buttonholes on my modern Brother machine anyway.

From the October-themes Writeblr Ask... 🧥 warm coat: share a happy or fuzzy scene from your wip!
Thank you for the ask!! :)
🧥 warm coat: share a happy or fuzzy scene from your wip!
I don't have yet any exactly happy scenes in this draft of BCC, but since I do like write disconnected scenes beforehand I did write a happy scene that from the second book :D It'll be under the cut, since it's fairly long. There was no better places to cut it :'D
Agrippa was already waiting for him in the grove. She sat against a tree in tall grass, reading. There was something very serene about her being surrounded by bright red poppies and sunlight pouring over her. The sight made him smile. She didn’t notice him approaching despite the rustle of the drying grass, being so absorbed into her reading. He paused next to her and was about to say something, but when he noticed her almost possessed expression, he didn’t have the heart to disturb her. Her face was glued to the book and her eyes flickered quickly from row to row while her fingers absentmindedly spun the jewels in her necklace. How long would it take for her to notice him? Knowing her, quite long. He suppressed a chuckle as he sat down next to her.
The sun was warm on his skin, making a gentle gusts of wind very welcome. Even still, discomfort easily took root in the silence he sat in. He didn't dare to move, barely dared to breathe. Unwelcome thoughts bred and grew in the fertile soil. He should have turned back and not disturb her. Was he sitting too close? Maybe she had changed her mind after his breakdown. Perhaps it was why she had asked to meet him here, to tell him she didn't want him, certainly never to marry him, if it was ever possible.
He closed his eyes and ran both hands through his hair. He was being irrational again. She had smiled when she had whispered to meet her here. Her fingers had brushed against his. Surely she would have said it differently, if she was about to break off their relationship. He needed to think of something else. He turned to look at her from the corner of his eye. Soaked in sunlight she was divine beauty. Her brightness weeded his doubts. In that moment he could understand why some would believe she was the avatar. He chuckled. What blasphemous thoughts she inspired. But blasphemy was nothing compared to her soft round face or the constellation of freckles covering it.
She bit her lips, her book clearly getting suspenseful. She gasped. Silent tears poured on her face.
Of course she was enjoying the book, but tears in her eyes still made him desperately want to hold her.
"Everything okay?" he asked.
She winced, startled, and turned to him quickly.
"Light! I didn't notice you." She turned away laughing awkwardly and wiped her face. "It's just the dramatic moment in the book... The main character found out the man she had fell in love with was really a crossdressing woman and not a noble - but he is really a man - I'm not making sense - I mean like sir Faelcí - Anyway, she thought he was just trying to steal her inheritance, which he was at first planning, but then he fell in love with her. So he left to the war and now she received a message that he died and -" She paused and glanced at him embarrassed. "It's silly… I know how this story ends, I know he survived, I've read it several times, but… it still gets me."
Valeri could listen to her talk about anything that got her that animated. There was something very charming about her passion.
Agrippa seemingly expected for an answer and blushed. "Why are you smiling like that?"
He laughed. "Like what?"
"Are you making fun of my silly romance book?" She feigned a defensive glare but her dimples kept smiling.
He couldn't wipe off the smile from his face.
"No. I like listening to you talk about your books." He glanced at the book. "Do you want to read till the end now? You don't seem to have much left."
She paused, clearly tempted, but shook her head. "No, it's okay. Like I said, I have read it before, and it would take me twenty minutes or so…"
"But you want to, right? I can wait. This is a nice spot to sit."
Her smile rivaled the sun. Anything was worth that smile. Especially sitting next to her on a fine day like that.
"If you insist." She paused. "Thank you."
She turned back to her book, which her eyes devoured hungrily. Valeri was content watching her. There was no more unwelcome thoughts lurking in the silence. The tension was gone from his body, leaving serene heaviness in his limbs. The sleepless night finally caught up with him. He closed his heavy eyelids for a moment.
His mind had drifted somewhere. As it returned to his body, the sun warmed his face and shone through his eyelids. Wind rustled the grass gently. The ground under him was soft and warm. Gentle fingers combed through his hair.
He had fallen asleep. It couldn't have been long. His hand rested next to his head and felt what was under. The soft and warm ground was definitely Agrippa. He opened his eyes. His head was resting on her lap.
He stirred upward quickly, head bouncing to a book.
"Oh sorry!" Agrippa said. "What is it?"
Valeri leaned on his hand and rubbed his face with the other hand. "Sorry, I didn't mean to… I fell asleep…"
"It's okay. You fell on my shoulder and I was afraid to wake you up if I changed pages, so I moved you on my lap." Her cheeks reddened. "You just mumbled something I couldn't make out so I hope that was okay…"
"Right… Sorry. I didn't mean to fall asleep. I didn't… sleep much." Blood rushed into his face.
She giggled. "I wouldn't have guessed that."
They exchanged knowing looks. Valeri quickly turned his eyes away, embarrassed with the rush of emotion.
"I still have fifteen pages. If you want you can continue sleeping on me." Her voice was uncertain. He could hear the blushing.
"Okay."

Have a lil drabble about Kat and Ryous friendship as requested by @kira-quartz
"Thank you for coming over to help with these."
Kat looked up from the figurine she was working on, offering up a smile to her best friend. "It's no problem, Ryou!" She assured him. "I'm happy to help, and, besides, this is actually a lot of fun anyways."
The first session of the newest campaign he was going to be DMing was coming in less than a week. They'd gotten their usual little crew back together for it and Ryou had wanted to go all put with this one. Rather than use base miniatures he kept tucked away, he'd ordered custom models to be based around the designs the others had given him of their characters.
Technically speaking now, she had a sneak peak at her own characters soon to be made party, but Ryou would not budge on giving her any details -- names, classes, who of their friends was playing them, etc -- as it would "spoil the element of surprise". He also refused to tell her which ones were actually npcs or party members as well.
She hummed, attention flickering back to the figurine in her hand. It was a fairy with a flowing dress and bands around her arms, butterfly wings and she was supposed to have opalescent eyes, pink hair and a Fae characteristic of having a glittering mist around her.
"It's fun figuring out who they might belong to," she said, bringing her brush back to the hair. Max had taught her the proper way to color and paint in the lines and give depth to shading; she did great with coloring books and the likes, but actually drawing was a talent not even he could bestow upon her. "Though, I think this one's obvious."
Ryou gave a wry grin, looking up from the gnoll he was currently doing the detailing on. "I don't know; it could very well be Tristans."
Kat snorted in laughter, holding it up a bit higher. "I need you to look me in the eye and tell me you've ever even heard Tristan use the word opalescent to describe anything."
He bristled a bit, but there still remained a small smile. "He would, given the right circumstance!"
"Oh, I'm not doubting the capability; I'm doubting the notion he'd say it to begin with," she teased. She re-situated the figure a bit better, finishing off the first coat of her hair. "Besides, getting glittering mist instead also seems more Mihos style. That gnoll you're holding looks more like Tristans speed."
Ryou gave a slight shrug, though he himself had the answers; she'd been right on the fairy, but the gnoll had actually belonged to Tomoya instead. Tristan had chosen a human with an Artificer class, with it being his second attempt at DND and his first time playing an actual campaign versus a one shot.
"I guess you'll just have to see," he mused, shifting his focus to the miniatures clothes. "I will say, though, your little Harengon is certainly going to be in an interesting group."
Kat shifted, nodding over to the painted figure of her little rabbit rogue. "I think she's gonna at least be fun to play." She was honestly more surprised he had yet to comment on the obvious inspirations from My Melody and Funny Bunny on the character. She had worked hard to put references galore in her new player character and she wondered how long it would take the rest of their friends to piece it together.
It took a little bit more time before she finished the fairy, setting it down to dry. Kat moved towards the rest of the unfinished minis, foot tapping as she weighed her decisions. She picked up what looked to be a guard of some sort to do, one that was set right next to a stack of books with the DMs manual resting on the very top.
"Maybe some time you can help me figure out how to be a DM?" She offered up, finger tracing the spine of the book. "Then you get a chance to play rather than have to oversee the whole story."
Ryou brightened, sitting up a bit straight, hands fumbling with the figure he almost dropped. He hadn't had much real experience being a player; most of the times, he was the master of the game, concocting the story and pushing players forward to the best of his ability. Perhaps it'd be nice to be on the other side. "I think I'd quite enjoy playing a campaign you got to create," he beamed. "Besides, it'll help me get a better understanding of what it's like on your guys side so I can better equip you in my own campaigns!"
Kat laughed, happily. "That would be really awesome to have, not gonna lie."
Before the white haired boy could further speak, the Ring around his neck began to glow, the points jutting out in different positions.
Landlord. I want in. I want to play a game hosted by my girlfriend. Immediately. Forget your campaign.
He bit his lip. The Spirit of his Ring had been working on being...nicer, to an extent. Kat usually kept him under control, made him apologize for some of his past behaviors, but, it hadn't been enough to wash away all the years of hurt fully.
Though, he had been making improvements; he wouldn't even steal to provide for her anymore, going to find ways to earn an "allowance" from Ryou, rather than consistently grabbing things he thought were pretty but usually, more often than not, belonged more in a museum than around her neck. And he hadn't caused any bodily harm since Battle City. Mostly out of threat from Kat.
His hand weaved around the Ring, and he gave an exasperated sigh. "Settle down; we're still doing mine first, you."
Kat cocked her head to the side, before her green eyes found the Item holding her boyfriend's soul and she moved closer, going to poke the eye on it. "We'll do a campaign later, you and me," she promised. "But, first, I want to play Ryous. And you have to keep from interfering. No pulling what you used to."
Now why would you all ever share those details to her? All I was doing was helping you and you paint me in a negative light. It's rude.
"Because you're a feral cat most of the time and we have to retrain you." Ryou told him with a tight lipped smile. His hand found the rope and he slid the Item off of him, setting it to the side. "Now, hush, I have other things to worry about."
Faintly, in the back of his mind, he could hear Bakura cursing him out bur for now he was more than happy to shift his focus back to where it was.
Kat picked her forgotten paint brush back up and refocused her own efforts. "It's just a thought, but, I have a slight idea for the campaign I want to run, but it's very magical girly."
"Now, that sounds like it'd be fun," Ryou beamed, moving to sit down next to his best friend. "And very you; the best campaign stories come from the most genuine places in its GMs heart, I think. It's why I always tackle mine from a place of what my own interests are."
She giggled. "Yeah, I kinda picked it up with all the occult references, the zombies, evil cultists--"
"All in good fun!"
"Yeah, and your idea of good fun is giving the rest of us the heebie jeebies!" Kat playfully shoved his arm, being sure to miss the spot where he'd been stabbed. He still had some nerve damage done there and she didn't want to risk anything.
Ryou laughed, good naturedly. "You're the only other person I've heard other than myself use that term, and you want to joke about Tristan not using opalescent?"
"Well, yeah, cause more people should use heebie jeebies," she mused, dipping the cleaned brush in a navy blue paint for the armor. "It's fun to say, it can be applied to a lot of more unnerving things--"
"It's very silly and very you. All along with your odd southern turn of phrases."
"Eh, I dunno, Ryou, I think the British ones are way weirder still."
He smiled, eyes closing as he tilted his head. "Mhm. I see. Well, whatever helps you sleep at night."
Kat hummed, glancing at her paint brush before getting a mischievous glint in her eyes. She turned, raising the brush and painted a navy stripe over his nose. "Rude."
He balked at her for a moment, before picking his brush back up and swiped a curved yellow line across her cheek. "Doubly rude on your end for that."
They stared at each other for a moment before the figurines were sat back down and their paint brushes were dipped back in the paint just as quickly before they went to use them to swipe at each other, laughing all the way through.
Kat never thought something like DND would bring people together; but, the moments that came with it were still some of her favorites with her best friend.

Jan 2
Dear Dad,
Well, we're already behind what I thought our schedule was.
I thought we would leave town today, but I guess not. Maybe soon? Maybe not.
I helped out at the temple a little bit, and then, because I've been feeling so much better after the magic accident, I went around looking for work.
A guy with a potion shop said he's happy to let me help, but if I break anything, he won't pay me, which isn't great, but maybe I'll learn something about potions in the meantime. I didn't really know anything about potions before, but there's apparently a lot to learn. He just had me sweep his shop today. I guess he wanted to see if I would try to steal anything, but I'm not going to do that. He didn't pay me very much to help, but that's alright because I know that I'm still helping, and it might add up when I give it all to Riley later when it's time to go buy everything we need.
And it was warm in the shop so I didn't even need to worry about the fact that I still couldn't find my coat, which I think someone had stolen. It didn't turn up at the temple. Riley was looking for it and didn't see anything, so I guess I'm completely out of a coat, which isn't so bad when I'm indoors, but walking from place to place is not very great.
I'll live, but I'll be cold the whole time. Not stellar. But hey, a little bit of money, and maybe if I learn anything from the potion guy, I'll be able to make my own potions or maybe get work at other potion shops. That would be kinda cool. Transferable skills, I think it's called. And then maybe Grace could teach me a little about the different plants I'd need or need to use, and I could go out with her when she goes out looking for stuff.
Speaking of Grace, I think she's feeling even more pent-up than I am. She's been looking for things to do. Still, I don't think it's enough to cause there'll be points before we go to sleep where she's pacing around like some big cat, not looking for anything, just trying to work out that last little bit of energy she has left.
Maybe it'll be a little easier for her in the spring when we don't have to stay in one place all the time and can go back to sleeping out under the stars without sleeping in a giant puppy pile. Which isn't to say it's terrible, but there's something to be said about not needing to stay huddled up in a ball all night. I'm probably stunting my growth, trying not to move too much at night. I hope she appreciates it, but I'm not sure she does.
But it'll be better when we can get out of here. Honestly, it's gotten a little colder, but it hasn't been too bad.
I'm probably jinxing myself, aren't I?
Watch it come down in buckets because I doubt that. Ugh.
Anyway, love you bye.
Jack

Part 4: Rex is happy.
I asked Carmen to get me a leash and collar yesterday. I supposed she was already thinking of it, but was afraid of embarrassing me. I didn't care anymore, she needed to collar me. That's the kind of love I felt for her now. I suspected it was the kind of love she felt for me too, she began looking at me differently after seeing the way I reacted to her strokes, seeing my new fascination with her scent. I wasn't just her partner anymore, I was her dog. We'd joked about it before, but it had become less and less of a joke over the months.
When she put it on me, something shifted. I realized the shame I felt wasn't the embarrassment of being treated like a pet, it was the opposite. It was the part of me that still clung to humanity. I had become a shut-in, long long nights ruminating over my new face, my new inexorable freak mutation, but… truly I was only ever afraid of being seen without a leash. My stature had gotten shorter, I could still walk but my new legs were urging me to get my paws on the floor. This time, I finally gave in.
Carmen asked me if I wanted to go for a walk, my heartrate doubled, but I told her I wasn't ready yet.
===
My ears gained full range of motion over the past month, and sensation in my tail finally solidified. It was becoming easier and easier to communicate with wags and ear flicks, which was good, because talking was getting to be a slight hassle. I would rather whine and moan when I want attention, bark when I'm excited, growl when I'm angry.
I could still understand english, I even got a keyboard with large buttons for keys after I lost the dexterity and definition I needed in order to type. (I'm told our clients tend to be very amused to find that a portion of their website was coded by a canine.) However, my new instincts gave me the ability to turn that part off, to only hear the loving praising tone in my owner's voice. It's nice, after a long day of interfacing with my old human responsibilities, to simply crawl up into Carmen's arms and listen to her nonsense puppy talk as she digs her fiingers deep into my fur, languidly flopping on my back so she gives attention to my belly. She noticed that scratching me in a certain spot on my side made my leg twitch, she found this very funny.
===
Carmen took me on a walk for the first time today. There were still nudity laws for human-to-animal individuals, which was a shame, but other than the constrictive cloth covering my natural coat I felt freer than I could have ever imagined. I spun in circles, leaping onto my hindpaws and dancing with joy before falling back onto all fours. I met a few other dogs like me, it was easy to tell which ones used to be people because they were all still wearing clothes. Carmen had a lot of time to make small talk with the other park-goers while we curiously sniffed at each other. Some of them still spoke mostly in english, others just barked, I guess everyone has a different preference. I think I fell somewhere in the middle.
I met a few "real" dogs as well, for lack of a better word. I know I could never really think exactly like them, although I dearly wished to. Perhaps these notions of "thought" were perceiving them with unfair anthropomorphism. Nonetheless, they seemed to trust me.
===
I'm not human, there was never any doubt about it. I was never supposed to be human. I was supposed to be raised as a puppy, I was supposed to be brought into a family and cared for, I was supposed to run, to play, to bark, to bite. I often wonder what I would have been like had I been born a dog, but I don't really have to wonder. It was always there, my curiosity, my sensitivities, the need to be separate from humanity while still yearning to feel a connection, validation, love, from humanity. Now, strangers look at me like I'm something alien to them, but something deserving of compassion regardless. They touch me, they stroke my fur just because they suspect I would like it, they understand me. I am understood.
Truth be told, my name wasn't actually Rex. Carmen started calling me that just a couple months ago. I forgot my old name, it doesn't matter anymore. I'm Rex now, and I'm happy.
(end of fic)
i need to write more in the therian hrt universe

Happy Halloween Naff! I got you a small Sleuth Jesters drabble treat for today. <3
-
"Dracula?  Really?"  Moon grumbled as he adjusted the top hat you had given him to replace his regular fedora for the night.  It had taken some convincing to get him to part with his signature hat, but you have your ways.
"What can I say, darling.  You look dashing in a cape," you grin in reply as you straighten the propped collar of his cape.
It's not too different from his usual trench coat but the velvety blue black of the draping fabric and crimson lining looks exceptionally striking surrounding his figure.  Or maybe it's the suit, or the way the glow of his red eyes from under the brim of his hat sends a pleased shiver down your spine as he eyes you with mock displeasure.
"And what about you, 'Robin'?  A little on the nose, don't you think?"
A chuckle bubbles easily from your lips as you take a step back and tip your own feathered green cap to the detective.  Your green capelet gathers around your shoulders and hides a number of pockets and pouches that will no doubt come in handy during the costume party the three of you were about to attend.  You were nothing if not committed to the philosophy of stealing from the rich to give to the poor.
"No more on the nose than our dear Sherlock," you smirk and glance past Moon to where Sun stood by the long mirror in the hallway.
His bright yellow fingers smooth the wrinkles from his warm brown overcoat and double check that the prop magnifying glass you'd given him rests securely in his breast pocket.  For all that your boys had been hesitant to submit to your costume suggestions, Sun looks far too pleased and thrilled to see himself dressed as his beloved literary character.
Satisfied with the final touches of his costume, Sun turns with a bright grin towards you and Moon.  "If we're all ready, we should head off soon!  Can't keep the good Mayor waiting."
"You say that as if he's the one who invited us and not Gregory," Moon snorts and opens the door for the three of you to head out towards the car.
"It’s still at the Mayor's manor, which means he allowed Gregory to invite us," Sun replies as he slides into the driver’s seat of the car while you and Moon climb in the back.
Moon has to duck his head a bit deeper to keep his tophat from getting caught on the roof.  He grumbles about it, but when you fix the brim for him with a smile and trail your fingers down the edge of his faceplate, his eyes grow warm and bright before he catches your hand to press the back of your fingers to his grin.  A flush of warmth rises in your chest at the sweet gesture, but you manage to hold back the blush.  What a charmer.  You'll have to make sure you find a moment or two at the party to treat your boys for playing along with your tricks.
Giving his dark fingertips a squeeze, you settle against Moon and wonder aloud, "I wonder what Gregory's going to dress up as…"
Mayor Fazbear greets the lot of you with an oddly strained smile, somewhere between amusement and embarrassment but it's not until you step in and hear the bright voice of Gregory calling out to you in greeting that you see why.  Gregory's outstretched hand waves eagerly to the three of you, with a thin red ribbon with two golden charms tied around his wrist.  Detectives Sun and Moon can only stare as the boy dressed in black slacks and a pressed white shirt not unlike your favoured outfit comes rushing to meet you with an excited grin.
Sun whispers something that vaguely sounds like, 'Oh no,' while Moon lets out a slow sigh.  You, on the other hand, couldn't be more delighted.
*stuffs this delightful treat into my trick-or-treating bucket* Plum this is so sweet and fun, ah!! I love their costume choices, all very fitting (especially vigilante's hehe), and OH MY GOSH GREGORY!!! He's so precious!! That last bit makes my heart melt, and also laugh. Poor detectives. That's just so delightfully in character for everyone as well as hilarious! I'm hugging you so hard right now, you have no idea ♥
I am so normal about the little cute moments of casual yet tender touches! You know Y/N is gonna give their favorite detectives a real nice treat later when they can steal a moment, and we all know how good they are at that ♥
Ahhh, thank you, Plum!! Happy Halloween!!! May I offer you a candy corn on the cob in return for your wonderful writing?!

Author's Note: Hiya peeps! The first part of this fic is fluff, angst in the middle, fluff again at the end. Nothing too extreme, just a little one-shot. Enjoy!
---
"Sebastian, Y/N, so glad you made it!" Susan Downey smiled warmly at the couple. "Of course, we couldn't miss the 56th birthday of the one and only Iron Man," Sebastian chuckled, walking into the house with his girlfriend. He put his arm around Y/N, observing the place. "Guys! Hello!" they heard.
"Mr Downey," Y/N greeted politely, turning to smile at the birthday boy. "You must be the girlfriend," he grinned, pulling her into a bear hug. "Yep, that's me." Then he turned to Sebastian, frowning. "Why didn't you introduce her to everyone sooner?" Y/N laughed as Sebastian rubbed the back of his neck, shrugging.
"Don't ask me, she was the one too chicken to meet you!" Sebastian defended himself, narrowing his eyes at his girlfriend. She snorted as Robert let go of her, returning to Sebastian's side. "I guess that's on me," she sighed dramatically, making both men laugh. "Well, enjoy yourselves! Have a drink, have fun!"
With that, he walked away. Sebastian noticed a server holding up a tray of drinks and called him over. He handed a glass to Y/N and took one for himself, taking a sip. "Thanks for bringing me over, honey," Y/N smiled and he turned to her, scoffing. "You're my girlfriend! God knows they were dying to meet you," he laughed, giving her a kiss on the forehead.
With that they went around the place, talking to new people, old friends and making new acquaintances. Y/N had a lot of fun meeting Sebastian's co-stars, and especially loved Elizabeth Olsen. Y/N was a huge Marvel fan and one of her favorite works of the MCU was WandaVision. Y/N had fangirled a bit, not gonna lie.
Like that passed an hour. After her feet started hurting, Sebastian decided it was time for the woman to sit down, have a drink and chill out. "Okay doll, here's a glass of champagne, if you need anything at all, don't hesitate to call me, okay? I'm going there, with Chris and Anthony. I love you." She smiled when he gave her a quick kiss.
"I love you too, and don't worry, I'll find you easy. This place isn't that big."
"I heard that!"
Laughing at her antics, Sebastian gave his girlfriend one more loving kiss before prancing out of the room in search of his best friends, Chris Evans and Anthony Mackie. Y/N relaxed on the comfortable couch with a sigh, sipping on her drink. It all began a year ago, very cheesily, might I add.
Y/N was at her favourite coffee shop when he had walked in. Immediately, fans had him surrounded, but she didn't go over to him. She stayed seated, looking at him, wishing she could go over but she knew how stressful fan interactions were for celebrities. Sebastian had, unfortunately, caught her eye and she had turned beet red, burying her face in her laptop.
He had found her absolutely winsome and after the crowd around him had dissipated, he had wandered over to her table and introduced himself. She was flustered around him, which made him tingly inside. And he had blurted out, "Wanna meet here next Saturday at 7?" They kept their promise and that's how they started dating.
That was a healthy amount of time.
Right?
Y/N couldn't help but have her doubts. All her previous relationships were pathetic failures, where the guy usually got bored of her within 3 months. But now, she had braced herself for rejection (which she knew deep down wasn't coming but it pays to be careful). "Hey."
Startled, she turned to see a kinda young, kinda drunk woman sitting next to her, looking up at her with doe eyes. "Hi," Y/N smiled back politely. "You're— you're the woman!" She had started slurring her words, which made Y/N frown a bit. "I'm… what?" she blinked. "The girl! Who came over with Sebastian Stan, you're his girlfriend!" The woman laughed loudly.
A few heads turned towards them but quickly looked away when they realized that the girl was drunk. "Yep, that's me. Why?" Y/N was now amused. As they talked, she didn't notice Sebastian walking into the room. He had come back to ask Y/N something but had paused in his tracks when he saw her frowning at the young, drunk woman.
Then he inched closer, unabashedly eavesdropping on her conversation. "Yep, saw him spending a lot of time with Ms Lizzie Olsen. If he was mine, girl, I would take that man home and show him who truly belongs to him, if you know what I mean," the girl winked and a sad smile bloomed on Y/N's face. "They're good friends, of course they're gonna spend time together."
Sebastian smiled at her answer. He knew she was different, she didn't get easily jealous and he liked that, since it reduced the number of arguments they had by a lot. His jealousy? Well, that's a story for another time… "You don't mind? He seems to be spending a lot of time with her…" the drunk woman frowned at Y/N.
Well, she was drunk, she wouldn't remember this night anyway, so maybe… it would be good to get some things off her chest.
"No."
"Why not?"
"Because I braced myself for this months ago. They leave, they always do. It's nothing new," Y/N admitted, swirling the champagne that was swimming in her half-full glass. Sebastian's heart shattered into a million pieces at her words. Before the words were even completely out of her mouth, tears had started stinging in his eyes.
"Y/N?" Startled yet again, Y/N turned to see Sebastian smiling at her. "Seb! Hi, thought you were with your friends!" she grinned at him. "I— uh— something came up, we need to go," he spoke quietly, fidgeting with his hands. Y/N's brows furrowed but she got up, collecting her coat and her purse.
"Can we at least say Happy Birthday to Robert?"
"Yeah, yeah of course." Sebastian managed a weak smile when she gave him a kiss on the cheek, going off to find Robert and Susan. She told them something urgent came up and they allowed the couple to leave. "Seb, let's go!" He followed her out of the house, meekly trailing behind her, the words she said ringing in his ears.
They leave, they always do. It's nothing new.
How had this woman, practically a Goddess, had such bad experiences that she was forced to think that way? He was never going to leave her, having found the perfect woman at last. He got into the driver's seat of his car, and the car ride home was quiet. Y/N was getting anxious. What happened to him? Did something happen at the party?
Once they were home, Sebastian couldn't help himself. "S—" Y/N yelped when he crushed her to his body, hugging her tightly. He took both of them to their shared bedroom, sat down on the edge of the bed, pulled her on his lap and buried his face in her chest, breaking down. "Seb, honey, what's wrong?" Y/N cooed, getting insanely paranoid.
The crying didn't stop for 15 minutes. Y/N, in a futile attempt to get him to stop, was running a hand through his hair, whispering sweet nothings in his ear, holding him close. When he took in a shuddering breath, he pulled away and finally looked Y/N in her eyes. "Now are you going to tell me what happened?" she smiled gently.
He took her hand, pressing a kiss to her wrist. "I'm sorry," he croaked out and Y/N frowned. "Sorry for what?" He shook his head, burying his face back in his safe haven. Except, Y/N wasn't having any of that. She pulled him away and dropped a soft kiss to his forehead. "Tell me what happened."
He took in another shaky breath.
"I… I heard you."
"Heard me?" Y/N blinked. "Yes. You were… you were talking to that girl on the couch and she was— she was talking about how I seem to be spending a lot of time with Lizzie and you— you said you didn't mind but she kept on insisting and you said they leave. they always do. I'm not going to leave you, Y/N, I promise. You're one of the best things that has ever happened to me and I'm not letting you go."
Oh.
"Seb," Y/N whispered, her own eyes now filled to the brim with tears. "Don't cry," he chuckled with a watery voice, wiping her tears off. "It's just— all my relationships before you… the guys were assholes. They always left 2-3 months in. I— I wasn't taking any chances with you, you know… plus, you're kind of a famous guy and you can get so many better women—"
He didn't want to hear it. Better than Y/N? Impossible. He pressed his lips to her, immediately deepening the kiss when she reciprocated. "I promise you, I cannot do any better than you." Y/N smiled shyly at his words and his heart filled with happiness. "Let's go to sleep."
Both of them tired from the crying, they got undressed without trying any funny business. Y/N put on her usual pair of shorts and one of Sebastian's huge t-shirts, getting into the bed where a boxer-clad Sebastian already lay. He pulled her into his arms and she rested her head on his chest, draping an arm around his taut abdomen.
"Comfy?"
"Yeah, you?"
"Yeah. Goodnight, doll, I love you."
"I love you too, Seb. Goodnight."
"...Never gonna leave you."
"Not a chance."

He wouldn't call himself an overachiever, — although he really was — but more like... he didn't want to give the Lees any reason to doubt having taken him under their wings and welcoming him into their family. Chey knew Jake from way back... from when he was still with the Chois. She had been the sister he'd never had, and that, after being welcomed into a new family, added more to his character, so she knew how hard he worked to make sure he didn't give his parents any trouble (whether his biological parents or his adoptive ones).
"Yeah, that little girl has me wrapped around her little finger and you know what?" He leaned in close, as if to tell Chey a secret. "I wouldn't have it any other way."
Jacob had always wanted a family. He had begged the Chois for siblings and ended up as the oldest of five — six, if he considered how close he was to Cheyenne. As he grew up, he found himself desiring that little baby Dilan was carrying in her womb. Although things didn't work out the way Jacob wanted them to, he would give this little girl all the love and affection, so that she never doubted just how much daddy loved her. "It's weird though... to think about it. I think I was meant to be a daddy's girl. I mean, I am surrounded by incredible women..." He smirked, giving the young professor a small nudge as they walked. "She's five-months-old, by the way. And you bet your ass she's not going to settle for anything less than greatness. There will be no mediocre love in her life." Not if it were up to him, of course.
He could see The Teacher's Lounge appearing in the distance as Chey mentioned being scarily well. He knew the feeling. The anxiety that came after rising from a painful fall, the picking up the pieces, the everything. "Hey..." He gently nudged her chin up to make her look at him. "You know it's okay to be to feel okay, right?" Although Jacob might not have gone through the same hardships that Cheyenne had, he understood. He understood being in pain. "Not everything has to be hard, kid. You deserve to feel happy about this." He wanted to add that what had happened was in the past, but he didn't want to seem insensitive, especially when that wasn't the reason why he would say this. "They say the first trimestre is the worst, right? You've got people looking out for you... so, you know... let us." With that, Jake pressed a kiss on the side of her head, and then let go of her so he could job towards the door of the Teachers' Lounge and push it open for her.
Getting old being a privilege sounded like something his dad would say, and the memory of Paul Lee brought a faint smile to his lips as the investor helped Chey out of the jacket he'd brought her, then proceeded to unbutton his own coat and undo the scarf around his neck. "I wouldn't mind you setting me up on a few dates. I mean, I trust you more than I trust the girls or even my mom on these things." He shrugged. His mother had set him up on a date with someone the other day and the person had basically stolen his thermal bottle, which, he only realized when he got home and the bottle wasn't in his car anymore... it was definitely there when he drove from the restaurant to the woman's place. "Just... not anyone younger than twenty-five, okay? I'm not DiCaprio." He teased while flipping the laminated menu towards his female companion so she could choose what to order.
"As for my birthday, we could do something on Wednesday? Selvi's sleeping with me on the 30th. Unless you'd like me to bring her?" But if she was planning on having more people over, then it'd be the best if his daughter wasn't around. The idea of doing something for his birthday though seemed really nice. Some grown-ups dinner at someone else's house. Sounded very adult for two scrawny kids who had been through hell and back in their childhood. "But, I can cook. You know... make your favorite, since I'm obviously your favorite." Again, he joked. It went without saying that Jake actually loved cooking. It helped him distract himself and empty his mind, especially after a long day, and doing it to others really did wonders to his humor. "Is Max allergic to anything?" He knew about Chey's preferences and limitations to when it came to food, but her partner's he hadn't a chance to memorize just yet.
The way her eyes lit up at the mention of the tattoo artist also brought a smile to Jacob's lips. He hadn't seen miss Cheyenne O'Hara smile like that in so long. It was an actual relief. You know... smiling, making plans, being happy... leaving the heaviness that he family usually brought...
"You know..." He began, after having placed an order for what they were eating and drinking that early-afternoon. "It's really good to see you smile like that. I can't even remember the last time I've seen you this happy." The investor reached over and grabbed her hand, giving it a light squeeze before letting go of it. "I hope you know that you deserve to feel this way, Chey. That this kid is going to have one hell of loving parents. Not to mention, the nicest, coolest uncle around." He smirked, pointing to himself. "And a best friend to be attached to the hip, like we are." Insecurities happened... it was impossible not to think about what could happen or what would happen... but Jake would be there to help her through it. Max too, of course. "And I'm sure Little Star is looking down on your two, making sure that everything ends up well this time. So... you know... allow yourself to be happy about it. It's a sweet moment. Enjoy it." / @cheyohara

Hazel playfully rolled at Jake's words, "of course you didn't you overachiever." The jest was only in good humor as she'd always felt close enough to him to be herself, and one of the things most didn't expect from the mousey professor was that she could roll with the best of them when it came to witty remarks and sarcasm.
How else did she hold up during all of those pub nights?
It'd been too long since she'd been able to spend any real solid time with her old friend, and the podcaster has certainly missed him a great deal. In some ways he felt like an extension to her, Jake was that embedded into her life.
"She's not even that old," a laugh bubbled up her delicate throat. "Love that she's already got you wrapped around your finger that much." It was something she was eager to see with Max when their own child came into the world, to see how he'd take to fatherhood. The professor knew he'd be a natural and an amazing dad. Just like how her dear friend had shown up to be. "How big is she now?"
Another smile decorated Chey's lips and those hazel eyes rolled once more. "She can never love anyone the way she loves her daddy. So be good to that baby girl," without a doubt she knew he would be, "you're gonna be the big example of how she loves herself and accepts love from others. Set that bar high." Chey squeezed him tight and shifted out of her office as they began their quest for some grub.
"We're past the first trimester. Things are going scarily well." Since the moment the brunette had found out she and Max had been gifted another chance she'd been a nervous wreck, but she was now beginning to settle. The horrific memories of early summer last year not far from thought. "You can start buying them things. We don't know the sex of the baby yet..."
Tumblr media
As they made their way out of the building, the professor listened to her friend share his updates on his life. Naturally, some ideas sprang to life in her mind. "So you're not of the idea that growing older is a privilege?" A nudge from her body into his, "how would you feel about me setting you up on a date? Maybe even two..." Remi and Lena had come to mind, though the veterinarian had a child of her own and she could see more compatibility there. Both were a smokeshow so Jacob would make out well.
"Aside from that thought— we're definitely gonna do something for your birthday. Even if it something more chill at my house." Because the brunette wasn't drinking now and wouldn't be for some time, going out to some of her favorite scenes just weren't the same. "Could even invite one or two of those beautiful ladies..."
When they made it to the cafeteria Chey pushed the door open and wrapped her arm around his once they were inside. "I'm doing fairly good. The morning sickness was really easy this time and we're starting to set up the baby's room. We're painting a tribute to Little Star," the one they'd lost, "onto one of the walls." At the mention of her partner's name, her smile spread quick and easy. "He's great. I'm so lucky," she beamed at her dear friend. / @jacobklee

"Baby."
Sukuna knows you heard him. Still, you continued walking as if you didn't, going ahead of him about ten paces ahead, your posture and the overall attitude in your gait speaking volumes of your current mood. He easily kept up with you, placing an arm over your shoulder, but much to his surprise, you shrugged it off you and walked the remaining expanse of sidewalk towards your shared apartment. He just watched in annoyance as you walked into the lobby and got into the elevator before him.
"Trouble with your princess?" this nosy grandma, who lived at one of the units at the first floor, asked.
Sukuna just smiled awkwardly, bowing slightly as he passed her by on his way to the elevator. When he finally got into your unit, he found your coat lying on the hallway, picking it up only to see your jeans a few steps ahead then your shirt. He finally found you in the kitchen already wrapped in a robe which you didn't even bother tying up, agitatedly pouring yourself a glass of wine, the cerise liquid sloshing around the glass violently.
You were behaving rather out of character, making a mess out of your clothes when he knew just how much you hated it when he leaves his things scattered about. On top of that, you left the cutlery drawer open with the corkscrew you used on top of the counter, droplets of red wine littering the granite top. You just passed him by without saying anything, refusing to look at him on your way to your bedroom.
I see how it is, he thought, taking long strides to the direction you went. He eyed you sternly, having had enough of your attitude. "Y/N, what's going on?" he demanded.
You flinched visibly at the way he addressed you. He doesn't call you by your name unless he was dead serious about something. "It's nothing. Don't mind me."
"Woman, don't tell me it's nothing when –"
Before he could finish, you walked into the adjoining bathroom, turning on the tap to the tub to tune him out. You were evidently being passive-aggressive now, and he detested it when you did that.
"Just go back to your party. I'm sure everyone's wondering where you've gone," you told him, picking up your glass from the dresser top. "Especially Miss Hanako." You shot him a sardonic smile before taking a swig out of your wine, the way you said the woman’s name dripping with vitriol.
And then it hit him. You've been dishing out barb since you told him you wanted to leave the company party he was partly hosting for his department. You did so when the secretary to the president arrived and started chatting him up. He was now thinking your behavior thereafter had something to do with it. You were fine before that so it could only mean one thing.
He didn't know whether to laugh or what at the thought of it. When he decided to pursue you, he didn't have qualms about it even if you were a good six years younger than him. He knew how problematic it could get having an immature partner, but that's where you were different. You held yourself with such confidence, grace and equilibrium way beyond your age, you shared the same pragmatic mindset he had and you didn't seem to have a proclivity for drama like others your age. You hardly ever fought because of petty things and he loved that about you.
But then, you're still young and he didn't hold it against you that you're suddenly acting like a brat. If anything, he was happy about it because you were never ever jealous. It sometimes made him doubt how you felt about him when you yourself would be pointing at other chicks for him to look at while saying things like, "Baby, look at her ass. Damn, she's sexy." And now that the green-eyed monster is rearing its head to the surface, he couldn't say he didn't like it.
"What about her?" he asked cautiously, making you jump the hoops.
You sneered, the action very intimidating despite your angelic features. “Oh, I don’t know, Sukuna. You tell me. You seemed to be enjoying her company. Don’t stop at my expense.”
He leveled his expressions to you. “Well, she is something, isn’t she? Smart, too.”
“Yeah, you deserve each other,” you hissed, the anger flaring up in your eyes making him stir alive.
“But she’s married.”
“All the better!” Seeing through what he was doing, you turned towards the bathroom and slammed the door shut. He didn't hear you lock it so he followed suit.
"If you're jealous, just say so already!" he told you. He wanted to hear it out of your mouth.
"Why would I be jealous? She looks like a bad rip-off of 80s Brooke Shields!" you spat, confirming his thoughts. You climbed into the bathtub sulkily, eyes on the bubbly water.
Sukuna knew he shouldn't even be thrilled about the prospect of it. If you were jealous then that means you were kinda doubting him in terms of his loyalty to you, and he should not like that, but at the same time, you were also being possessive which you rarely do. He couldn't help it.
Loosening his tie, he began shedding his clothes off, stripping naked before you, revealing the tattooed expanse of his skin and his impressive musculature as he tossed one garment after the other.
"What are you doing?" you asked as he approached, the way you mumbled the words causing him to just sigh, feeing defeated at how endearing you looked hugging your knees to yourself. "I thought I told you to go back to your party."
He didn't say anything as he went into the tub, sitting opposite you, but it wasn't long before he was pulling you towards him, positioning you between his legs so your back was pressed against his hard chest. He then began planting hungry kisses on your neck, down to your shoulders, his large hands wandering all over your body, one already having found itself on your breasts while the other coaxed your head to turn towards him so he can kiss you, his movements urgent yet languid and gentle.
"I'm all yours," he breathed against your lips, grinning. "You know that, right?"
"I know." You shrugged, facing forward again. “I don’t like the way that witch was touching you though. And you were all smiles about it, too.” You smacked him on the thigh, eliciting that deep laughter you adored no matter how mad you were at him. “Don’t laugh! It’s not funny.”
“It kinda is.”
“If you even think for a second that anyone can have you, Ryomen Sukuna, you’re wrong.” You looked him in the eyes, your dark orbs boring into him while your hand touched the side of his face, your crimson-painted nails looking like claws against his cheek. “You’re mine.”
He wrapped his arm around you, kissing you on the temple before placing his chin on your shoulder. "Jealousy is ugly, baby," he whispered in your ear, "but I gotta say, you wear it so well."
-END-
Okay. Before I get another "untimely (and unsolicited, if I'm allowed to say) lecture" about the etymology of the word "Ryōmen (両面/りょう)" meaning "two-faced/two-sided" and not a surname or given name , let me say it now, I KNOW, but thanks anyway. Sukuna and I are neighbors, just 4 hours by train. Geez. However, I am using his whole name in literature form, so if I do switch it up and use it as a surname for him (cause heaven forbid, the Kamigami rain hell on me) it's all for fun and literary creativity. No need to get too pressed over it.
No more fighting on my comments to point this out @fushigummy @kenkinori XD
And I have nothing against the 1980s or Brooke Shields. *waves at her fans*
It's established. I love bathtub scenes although I detest the idea of stewing in my own filth. But yeah, look forward to more bathtub drabbles.
I say too many things. Bye.
Thank you so much for reading. Likes, comments and reblogs are deeply appreciated! Hope you enjoyed it.

cursed crown (1) - pierre gasly
in which sneaking into Pierres kingdom only means one thing
Tumblr media
warnings: smut, royalty au so there's that, language maybe?
please please please let me know what you all think
“Are you alright?” you heard Pierre quietly call from the window above you. You had just arrived at his castle and were currently trying to climb up to the kitchen window, admittedly with no help from the prince himself.
“A little bit of help would be nice, Your Highness” you scoffed. Pierre laughed at the title you gave him but obliged nevertheless, leaning out of the window and stretching his arm downwards, waving it in front of your face teasingly. You rolled your eyes as you grabbed hold of it, “I thought I was supposed to be the mean one out of the two of us” you muttered when you finally climbed through the window and planted your feet firmly on the ground. You brushed some dirt away from your coat before finally meeting his beautiful blue eyes.
“Perhaps you're rubbing off on me, my lady,” Pierre grinned. He grabbed hold of your hand and quickly led the two of you out of the grand kitchen, carefully glancing across corridors and hiding behind walls as maids and a variety of guests walked through his pristine palace. You thought you would have been used to sneaking around his home by now, you had been doing it for months after all, but the trek from the kitchen to his bedroom was never an easy one. Even though Pierre had repeatedly confessed to you that this certain day of each month was the quietest, there still seemed to be countless people roaming the halls.
“I do quite hope you haven't acquired only my bad traits, Pierre,” you whispered, quickly glancing behind you as you ran up the stairs and into his bedroom. This was the riskiest part of your journey. The stairs that led up to his bedroom were open for anyone and everyone to see, whether it be from the inside balcony above or from the spacious hall below.
Pierre laughed at your comment, quickly shutting his bedroom door behind him and twisting his body around to face you. He placed his hands on your hips as he led you further into his bedroom. “Are you insinuating that you have any desirable qualities, my love?” he joked, his beloved silly grin quickly making its way onto his face causing your own smile to erupt on your own. These moments with Pierre were the only times you could truly be yourself and they didn't come around too often.
“Well of course, your highness” you smiled, snaking your hands up his arms to rest on his biceps. Pierre jokingly cocked an eyebrow at you, his hands trailing lower down your body, unable to keep them still for a second.
“And why is that?” he pondered, frowning slightly as you pulled away from him to take off your coat and climb onto his freshly made bed, getting comfortable in the silk sheets before peeking at him through your lashes.
“Because you crawl into bed with me every month” you teased. Your eyes trailed across his bedside table, smiling at the familiarity of it. Since the beginning of your late night rendezvous the contents of the table had never changed. There always lay a map of Othain, a journal which he had forbidden you to read and his beloved crown, the one that always lay atop of his head except during these moments with you and of course, when he was sleeping.
You carefully picked the crown up from where it lay and placed it onto your own head. It was much lighter than your own, less jewels scattered around it. It was a breath of fresh air. You didn't feel suffocated wearing it. Didn't feel weighed down by what it symbolized. “Now as your queen, i command you to come over here, for i have been deprived of your touch for far too long”
Pierre chuckled at your words, his steps towards his bed were deliberately slow. He knew how to tease you and from the glare you sent his way, he knew it was working. He crawled onto his bed, positioning himself on top of you and adjusting his crown on your head. “Well then, your majesty, I suspect that I am obliged to prove myself to you?” he jokingly questioned.
“Those are quite possibly the smartest words to leave your lips, my love” you commented. Unable to contain yourself any further, you pulled him towards you, finally connecting your lips after weeks apart from one another. Pierre didn't hesitate to kiss you back, but the short lasting kiss was not what you expected and a frown appeared on your face the minute he pulled away. “As much as I love your teasing, Pierre, I would really prefer it if you didn’t indulge in those habits right now.”
He smirked evilly as he trailed one of his hands down your thigh. “Is her majesty upset with my actions?” he pondered, his smirk not once leaving his face as he crawled further down the bed. Kisses were scattered across your thigh and the silent frustrated sigh that left your lips was a good enough answer for Pierre.
“Her majesty thinks she should get what she wants,” you selfishly spoke. You pulled lightly on Pierre's hair, a desperate attempt to get you closer to him again, to remove his lips from your thigh and place them on your own instead. Was that really too much to ask for?
“Well, I personally think she needs to stop being a brat and shut up for once in her life.” Your lips parted to scold him for his language but instead of rude comments, moans of pure delight seemed to leave your lips as Pierre attached his mouth to your core. He knew how to shut you up and for once in your life, you weren't complaining.
You tugged on his hair, pulling him closer into you as your head fell back in pleasure. Pierres crown slipped to fall beside you on the pillow but you paid it no mind as you felt pleasure pass through you like lightning bolts. “Oh Pierre,” you moaned as he lapped at your core similar to a man deprived of a meal. He couldn’t get enough of you.
Pierres fingers dug into your thighs as he moved to suck on your clit. “Shit,” you cursed as you felt the familiar knot begin to build in your stomach. After spending so much time with you and your body, Pierre believed he knew you inside out, which as a result meant he knew exactly when you were going to cum. He felt oh so evil as he brought you to your peak, only to pull away from you at the last second. The frown on your face was enough to make him feel slightly guilty. Only slightly.
“I am going to declare war on you, Pierre Gasly, '' you seethed, completely unsatisfied and now purely annoyed. You hadn’t trekked all the way to his kingdom in the middle of the night just for him to bring you towards the most amazing pleasure imaginable and leave you high and dry at the last moment.
“I'm afraid you don't have the power to do that yet, love” he grinned. He didn't give you any time to come up with a witty reply as he placed a chaste kiss to your lips before undressing himself in front of you.
“Is this your form of apologizing?” because well, it was working, there's just something about a handsome prince undressing before your very eyes that got you going.
“I was planning on making you cum over and over again, love” he spoke, stretching his arm out beside your head in order to place his crown back on your head. You looked so powerful with it on. You always looked powerful, but his own crown laying in your hair brought freshness to you that he didn't know was possible. It made his chest lighten and butterflies erupt in his stomach. It made him feel five again. “But if this is enough im happy to stop here and continue another time.”
You scoffed at him. Keeping one hand on the crown, you trailed your hand down your body, gripping onto your breast, maintaining eye contact with him as you did so, before moving further down your body. You ran your fingers up and down your folds, spreading the wetness gathered there before inserting one inside. “If you cant pleasure me, i guess i'll have to do it myself,” you muttered, knowing deep down that there was nothing Pierre hated more than you pleasuring yourself in front of him. It felt like a betrayal. Like he wasn’t enough.
Your plan succeeded spectacularly, as they always did, and in no time he was positioned on top of you, his tip teasingly brushing against your entrance. He dragged your hand away from your core and held it above your head. His grip was almost death-like and you found yourself relishing in the pain it brought.
“Don't doubt me for a second, love” Pierre grunted in your ear as he tapped his cock against your clit. You bit your lip at the sensation but allowed him to continue with his scolding. You knew there was nothing but love behind his words and so, to no surprise, you got more excited with each word that fell from his lips. “I think you know first hand the kind of pleasure I can bring you.” You gasped at the feeling of him filling you up. After nearly two weeks of not seeing each other, the sensation of him inside you was better than you had remembered. You transferred his crown onto his own head, an indication that whatever power you had over him was now practically non-existent. You were truly at his mercy.
“I'm sure you haven't forgotten the many times i've made you scream, love. I can do it again if your memory has begun to fail you.”
Pierre was always one to live up to his word. His sharp deliberate thrusts made your eyes roll back and several moans escaped your lips. You haven't been with any other man except Pierre and you would never need to. He knew your body more than you did and the delight that he brought you was extraordinary.
The squeezing of your wrist made your eyes snap open. His beautiful eyes were already watching you withering underneath him. A look of pure adoration plastered on his face as his hips continued to move at a rapid pace. “Shit, Pierre”
Pierre shook his head at you, a lopsided grin replacing his usual smirk as he leaned down to kiss your chest. “That's not what i want to hear, love.”
He was playing your own game against you, but you were too full of gratification to care. “P- please, your highness.” A blush crept up your cheeks at the seriousness of your own voice. You were no longer mocking him with his title but moaning it in pure delight.
Pierre cocked his head at you, “Please what, love? Use your words.” Tingles made its way onto your skin from kisses he scattered over your neck, goosebumps trailing in their wake. You didn't even process your words until they were out in the open.
“Fuck me like your life depends on it.”
And he did. His thrusts became unbelievably precise, his free hand roamed your body, circling and squeezing all the right places while his other intertwined with yours. You knew there would be marks left from where he had held on too hard, but you didn't see it as a mark of pain rather than an indication of what had gone on between you two.  A reminder for the next long two weeks ahead of you.
The clenching of your walls for the second time that night indicated to Pierre you were close. “Hold on, love” he ushered. Something that was incredibly hard to do when he was pounding into you like an animal and circling your clit like he was under a spell.
“I - i can't,” you sobbed. You wanted so bad to release the knot in your stomach, to catch the orgasm you had been chasing all night.
“I said hold it.” He was in control, that much was clear, but you could only hold on for so long until your body couldn’t take it anymore.
“P - pierre, fuck!”
“That's it, love,” Pierre groaned in your ear, “Hold on for just another moment, such a good girl for me.” Your eyes rolled back and your gripped onto his hand for dear life. “Don't know what id do without you.” Your heart skipped a beat and tears began welling in your eyes. “Look so pretty right now, taking me like the queen you'll soon be.” Your breath increased and a whimper left your lips.
“You can let go now, love.”
Nights with Pierre were often sleepless. You had plenty of time to sleep when you were alone in your bedroom. Two nights each month you spent facing the beautiful prince, talking about utter nonsense until your cheeks hurt from smiling too hard and your eyes drooped from being awake for too long.
“Im being sent somewhere tomorrow,” you whispered into the darkness, playing with his hands as you dared to break the silence around you. You could feel him tense up next to you, obviously assuming the worst and imagining an attack his own kingdom. His own people. “Not you, “ you reassured, your heart fluttering when he immediately relaxed beside you, “Some rebels gathering together behind the mountains, I’ll have to leave early in the morning.”
It hurt you to cut your already short time with Pierre even shorter, but duty called and once your father demands your presence on a mission, you had no choice than show up.
“I hate the fact you have to go out on these stupid battles,” Pierre confided. He hadn’t taken his eyes off you all night, wanting to imprint the image of your face in his mind until the next time he saw you again.
“Well, unlike you, I have to prove myself to everyone.” It was the harsh reality of your world, one that you were reminded of at each public event you attended. You were a woman and for that reason, deemed unworthy of ruling.
“You wouldn’t have to prove yourself to anyone if you ran away with me,” he reminded. Without fail, every time you met up with Pierre, he brought up the idea of running far away to another kingdom, one where the two of you could live like commoners and not have to worry about the state of a kingdom nor dooming battles. It was a daydream that both frightened and enticed you in the best ways possible.
“You really think you can survive without all this luxury?” you pondered, your hands immediately running up and down the silk sheets on top of you as your eyes floated across the numerous jewels and paintings scattered around his room.
“With you next to me?” he asked. His hand came to rest on your jaw, moving your face closer to his own as he spoke his true desires out loud, “Of course.”

"I expect all of your reports in and in perfect order by tomorrow's meeting at 11 a.m. And I want all of you in there on time. I will not accept even 1 minute of tardiness. Are we clear?"
A chorus of 'Yes sir' chanted throughout the room, the occupants in their respective chairs starting to disperse themselves out of the room. The hushed groans and complaining did not go unnoticed by Jongho's ears, but he paid no mind to them, having grown accustomed to them. He was a tough boss, and he preferred to keep it that way. He enjoyed having people fear him and be too scared to even ask him something, and all of his subordinates seemed to fall in that category.
"Sir?"
All of them except the almost cherry red head girl who was batting her eyelashes at him, a strand of her hair being twirled around one of her fingers. Without breaking his poker face, Jongho held out the folder he had and fanned it in front of her face.
"Hyunjoo, make copies of these to put into the filing cabinets and make sure to save them into the computer as well."
In a rather abrupt way, he practically threw the folder in her hands, but the girl didn't seem fazed, she still continued to smile even as he turned his back to her and walked out of the room.
"Right away sir! Anything else I can-"
Her enthusiastic question was shut out by the loud slamming of the door, leaving her speechless once more.
Jongho let out a deep huff as he loosened the tie that was practically suffocating him as it did after a strenuous day of having to deal with the ineptitude of his employees. He said absolutely nothing as he walked to his car, and stayed just as silent during the entire ride home, the soft ballads playing on the radio being his only companion at the moment. He didn't even feel like breaking out his heavenly vocals as per usual, all he wanted at that moment was to get to his haven as soon as possible and see the two faces he loved seeing after spending grueling hours in front of a computer and a stack of papers.
As soon as he stepped foot inside the cozy house, his nose was hit with the delicious scent coming from the kitchen. Making sure to neatly place his shoes by the rack next to the door and hang his coat on one of the hooks on the wall, he practically dragged his feet down the hallway before turning the corner. His gloomy expression quickly faltered and broke out into a smile as he was greeted by loud squealing coming from the tiny individual sitting in the high chair.
"Hey buddy. You missed me?" Jongho couldn't keep the smile off his face as he picked up the 5 month old baby, his cheeks still stained with an orange hue. The baby made some incoherent guttural sounds, no doubt trying to convey his feelings as he outstretched his tiny hands and began touching Jongho's face.
"I know I missed you." He placed a tiny kiss on his head before picking up a wet tissue to start wiping off some of the puree residues.
Right at that moment, his wife came in and wrapped her arms around his waist. Placing a gentle kiss on his cheek, she tilted her head so she could look at his face more clearly.
"How was your day?"
He shook his head, not wanting to recall his day.
"Same as they've been since you went on maternity leave. Unbearable."
Rolling her eyes at that, she carefully took the baby out of his hands since it was time for him to take a bath.
"Here. You go on and eat while I clean junior here."
Although the baby grunted softly at being taken away from his father's arms, he eventually relaxed in his mother's embrace, his face nuzzling into her chest and soon afterwards he began nibbling softly at her shirt.
"Oh for goodness sakes! You just ate not even 10 minutes ago. You can't possibly be hungry again." Y/N half heartedly complained, bouncing the baby slightly in her arms.
"Well I mean.... I don't blame him for wanting to drink some of your milk."
Catching her gaze, Jongho sent a wink her way that had her blushing intensely.
"You're unbelievable!" She exclaimed as she stomped out of the room to go bathe her baby.
"You're the one who offered me your tits in the first place." He snorted, trying to contain his laughter as he sipped the glass of water he had in his hand.
"Keep it up and I'll extend my maternity leave longer." She called out from the bathroom, the sound of water running being heard.
"No way! I've gone far too long without my personal assistant helping me keep order in that building and helping me stay sane. You promised me you'd come back tomorrow and I'm making you keep that promise." He warned her.
"Are you saying that as my husband? Or as my boss?" She questioned him.
"As both if I have to." He sternly said.
"Neither one of you scare me.....but since I love you both, I guess I'll keep my promise and come back tomorrow as we planned."
Jongho let out a relieved sigh at her answer as his fingers rubbed at his temple, fork aggressively digging into the vegetables on his plate. He honestly had missed working with Y/N by his side. He was feeling rather antsy and impatient about having her come back into the company. And he knew the other employees were also eagerly anticipating her return, since they preferred going to her to get messages across to him when they were too scared to face Jongho themselves. Not to mention Y/N livened up the atmosphere with her fresh and energetic nature, one of the main reasons he fell in love with her.
As he ate, Jongho began to reminisce about how their story started. Y/N had been recommended by a friend to be his personal assistant and she was very proud to work for such an important CEO, seeing it as an opportunity of a lifetime. Jongho, however, of course was extremely tough on her from the start, just as he was with all his other assistants. None of them lasted more than 2 weeks because they just couldn't handle either all the unbearable tasks he gave them or got frightened off by his stern and aggresive form of addressing them. Not Y/N. Even after having her run up and down floors on wild goose chases at times, she still kept her bright smile and positive energy, never once flinching either when he scolded her for doing something that he deemed wrong, which it never actually was, he just enjoyed nitpicking at her. She broke the record and lasted not just 2 weeks, but over 2 years, earning her the admiration and respect of not only her coworkers but of Jongho himself. He became fascinated by her and that fascination turned into love for her.
He pursued her for quite some time, Y/N making him really work for it as payback for all the harsh times he put her through during her first months working for him. Eventually his persistence paid off as she agreed to not only date him, but actually accepted to marry him when he asked her to. Of course, it was a secret no one else knew about, both of them agreeing that they'd rather keep their personal lives outside of work, not wanting others to talk or gossip about them. So at the company they were simply the CEO and his personal assistant, but once they got home, they were back to being hopelessly in love and enjoying their married life which now included their son.
Jongho felt that he was extremely lucky. Lucky to have such an amazing and beautiful wife who had recently blessed him with a healthy baby boy, gifting him the family he always wanted. He couldn't contain his happy smile as he watched her rock the baby to sleep and eventually put him inside his crib. Tiptoeing out of the nursery and joining him in their bedroom, Y/N raised an eyebrow when she saw his expression.
"You doing good?" She asked him.
Nodding softly, Jongho let out a hum before wrapping an arm around her waist.
"Oh trust me, I'm doing just splendid." He let out a chuckle as he pecked her lips.
When she began pulling away from his embrace, he pulled her back in, this time pressing his lips against hers more firmly as his hands went to the back of her thighs and effortlessly picked her up, wrapping her legs around his waist. She couldn't help the squeal that came out of her mouth when he pushed her down onto their bed, already feeling breathless as his tongue continued to dominate her mouth. Jongho's hands began to slowly pull her tank top down, exposing her soft and squishy breasts that had grown quite considerably since she started her last months of pregnancy and continued up until then.
"You know it's been so long since I've had you all to myself...." He mused as he nipped across her collarbone.
Taking one breast in each of his hands, he gave them gentle squeeze that had Y/N moaning softly. Giving one of her nipples a few kitten licks, Jongho latched his mouth over it, covering her perky nipple and letting out suckling sounds until he felt her sweet liquid come out of her body.
"And I plan on taking my time with you." He finished his previous sentence as he went back to feeding from her milk.
Y/N's fingers tangled themselves on his hair, back arching to allow him to take more of her succulent breasts into his mouth, which he took advantage of graciously. Just as soon as they were both getting lost in their lust, they were interrupted by the small whimpered cries coming from the room next to theirs. Detaching his mouth from his wife's chest, Jongho groaned in annoyance and rolled over on the other side of the bed.
"Seriously? Can't even enjoy some alone time with my wife because junior over there wants to be a cockblocker."
Slapping his arm, Y/N arranged her shirt and got up to go attend to her baby, leaving Jongho laying there in a fuzzy and whiny mood.
⊱⋅ ─────────── ⋅⊰
Stepping into the floor, Y/N was immediately bombarded by greetings and questions from all of her coworkers. The men were fawning over her and thanking her for coming back on such an eventful day while the women were prying about her baby and other motherly topics. Since it was still early, Y/N thought it wouldn't hurt to show off a few pictures of her little bundle of joy. Taking care there weren't any photos of Jongho, she happily showed off her gallery that was full of images of her baby and herself. All of the people around her began cooing and awing at how adorable he was.
"He's so cute!"
"Simply adorable!"
"Does he look like his dad?"
Before Y/N could even answer that question, the father himself cleared his throat behind the little group. Collective gasps and startled wheezes were heard as the people began to disperse themselves back to their respective cubicles or desks. Donning his usual frown, Jongho side eyed some of the individuals before landing his eyes on Y/N, who per usual remained calmed and collected.
"Miss L/N, although no doubt your coworker are ecstatic to have you back I must remind you that we have an important meeting ahead of us and I don't want any distractions to hinder our plans. I'll let this go just this time but I want no more dilly dallying. Are we clear?"
Breaking out into a soft smile, Y/N put her phone back in her purse.
"Crystal Mr. Choi."
The corner of Jongho's lip twitched at hearing her usual response she'd say to his chastising. Y/N knew it affected him too, but she bit her tongue from bursting out laughing right then and there. Checking his watch, he sighed deeply.
"After you finish setting your space up, please gather up the documents needed for today's meeting and see me promptly at my office so we can look over them."
Just as Y/N was about to open her mouth, she was interrupted by a redhead whom she had never seen before during the time she worked there. The girl pushed herself in between them both rather tactlessly.
"Sir, if you'd like, I could go fetch them for you, I know where they are so it'd be faster given that I sorted them yesterday."
Y/N arched an eyebrow up at the new face, scanning her up and down, taking notice of how tight and short her skirt was, not to mention how snug fitted her blouse was, more than just the tops buttons undone to purposely draw attention to her cleavage. The way she was practically beaming at Jongho did not go unnoticed by her, and it was slightly irritating her.
"No thank you Hyunjoo. I want Y/N to do it. Besides I need to catch her up on what's been going on these past months she was gone."
Before Jongho could take one step, Hyunjoo moved to stand right in front of him, a rather bold move that had everyone bracing themselves for what would happen next.
"Anything else you want to say Hyunjoo?" Although he asked, it was quite obvious Jongho was not amused in the slightest bit. Hyunjoo bit her lip nervously, but decided to speak.
"Sir I just thought since it was an important meeting that perhaps you'd prefer to be assisted by someone who has more knowledge and experience in the matter so that there would be no... hindrances."
Y/N did not like the way she drawled out that last word. She did not hesitate to let out a scoff at the brazen behavior of whoever that newbie was. And she guessed Jongho was not happy by her input either given that he was now crossing his arms over his chest.
"There will be no hindrances. Y/N knows what she's doing and I know she'll do an excellent job. After all, she is and will always be my personal assistant."
Y/N couldn't hide the proud smirk that shone triumphantly on her face, especially after seeing the reddened face of the girl next to her, who gave her a small glare before excusing herself to go to her desk. Jongho brushed past her to go into his office, giving her elbow a light squeeze that went unnoticed by everyone else but that made her feel better about coming back to work. She was practically skipping all the way to the elevator and still skipping about when she came to the room where they kept all the documents. She skimmed through the cabinets, checking the dates to make sure she was looking in the right section when she was startled by a voice piping up behind her.
"Y/N!"
She let out a scream and stumbled back into one of the cabinets, hitting her lower back rather harshly before landing her bum on the floor.
"Oops! Sorry. Not how I wanted my welcome back greeting to go."
She allowed the blonde male to help her get up, scanning her to make sure no real damage was done.
"Yeosang what the hell? Why are you always popping up on people out of nowhere?" She grimaced as she rubbed her butt.
"Gotta have some type of fun while I'm locked up in here organizing, filing and documenting papers here you know." He adjusted the frames on his nose bridge.
"Maybe you could lend me a hand and show me where I can find what I need for today's meeting?"
Clapping his hands, Yeosang reached into his jacket and promptly took out a neat folder out that had several papers inside.
"I figured Mr. Grinch upstairs would have you come get them so I took the liberty of stashing them away just for you."
Y/N smiled as he handed them over to her.
"That and I didn't want that bitch Hyunjoo putting her nasty hands on them as well." Yeosang huffed loudly.
"Who is she anyways? She wasn't here when I was."
Yeosang went cross eyed momentarily, looking like he was losing brain cells as he tried to figure out where to start.
"She started out a week after you went on maternity leave. She's just a secretary, but has offered to do some tasks that were strictly reserved for you as Jongho's assistant, which he rarely lets her do. You know how he is."
Of course she did. More than anyone she knew what her husband was like.
"Well long story short like her dirty rags that she calls skirts, it's quite obvious she's trying to get in the boss' pants and we're all surprised he hasn't fired her yet. It's more than clear he's not interested either, I mean come on. It's Choi Jongho, he only looks at a woman or man to criticize them. I don't think he's capable of feeling romantically inclined towards anyone."
Y/N held her head down, pretending to skim through some of the papers to hide the giggle that was threatening to come out her mouth. She honestly found it hard not to laugh when others talked about Jongho like that. It was funny to her.
"So I take it I should be careful of her trying to take my place?" Y/N snickered amusedly, and Yeosang let out a dry laugh as well.
"Please Y/N. We all know no one will ever take your place. You're indispensable here, especially to the big guy up there."
He pointed a finger towards the ceiling.
"Speaking of which, don't keep him waiting. You know how he hates people wasting his time." He made quotation signals with his fingers while rolling his eyes.
Giving her a hug and proper welcome greeting, Yeosang watched her leave, reminding her to show him pictures of her baby when she got the chance which she happily agreed to share with him.
Coming back up to the main floor, she made sure to smile warmly at all her coworkers, a gesture that would hopefully calm their nerves a little for the upcoming meeting, which seemed to be working. They knew if she was there at least Jongho would be a little less terrifying than what he usually was. As she walked by the cubicles, she paused in her steps when she saw that a certain desk was empty, its occupant missing. Looking at the nametag, her tongue poked against her cheek.
"Mingi?" She turned to the nearest person to her, the tall male looking up from his screen to pay her his full attention.
"Where's Hyunjoo?"
Mingi didn't answer and instead pointed over towards the direction of Jongho's office.
"No doubt trying to suck his dick. That hoe."
Both her and Mingi looked over at the coworker next to him.
"Wooyoung!" Mingi chastised him.
"What? Fire me for speaking the truth." He grumbled as he continued his task of stapling a stack of papers together.
Mingi shot her an apologetic look but Y/N quickly brushed it off. Something told her that she was needed someplace else anyways. Her instincts were never wrong. Peeking into the office, she witnessed in disgust as Hyunjoo ran a finger down Jongho's torso. He looked visibly uncomfortable, swallowing hard as he tried to back away from her slowly.
"Typical of him." She thought to herself. "Acting all high and mighty like he's not afraid of anyone or anything yet when a woman throws herself at him, he cowers like a little baby."
When she saw Hyunjoo press her body against Jongho's, she knew it was time to step in. Slamming the door open, her face had a glaring scowl that was quite the contrast to her usually friendly demeanor. Only few people had ever seen it and it truly shook them to the core, even more than Jongho himself since they grew used to his anger. But Y/N? They desperately avoided incurring her wrath, even if it was such a rare sight to see. And it was producing an instant effect as Hyunjoo immediately backed away from Jongho, the latter already bracing himself for a lecture from her.
"Hyunjoo......I believe your station is right out there." She pointed behind her.
Hyunjoo nodded even though it was a statement not a question.
"So why are you not there?" Her foot tapped impatiently on the floor.
The poor girl apologized and quickly sped out of the office, like a puppy with its tail tucked in between their legs. Once she was out, Y/N shut the door behind her and then looked over at Jongho, piercing daggers into him with her stare as she took slow and careful steps towards him.
"Well.....guess I should probably thank you for getting me out of that-"
Jongho let out a tiny squeak when Y/N grabbed him by his collar and pulled his face close to hers.
"I'm gone for half a year and there's already a skank trying to take my place?" She was fuming, eyes burning a hole into his face and Jongho wasn't going to lie, he was always attracted more to her when she got angry.
"Baby, darling..." He cooed at her, hands going to her hips to rub circles around them in an effort to appease her.
"Don't you 'darling' me Choi Jongho. Tell me, did you enjoy having your little pet rub herself on you?" She demanded as she took his hands off her and slammed her own on the desk behind him, effectively trapping him and keeping him from moving.
"I- No! Of course not!" He exclaimed in indignation.
Y/N scoffed dryly as she reached a hand up and placed it on his chest, mimicking the earlier actions of her rival, except whereas Jongho recoiled from Hyunjoo's touch before, it was now different as he began melting into Y/N's touch.
"I don't really believe you, I think you would have fucked her if given the chance." She didn't really believe that sentence herself but she wanted to spark a reaction out of Jongho.
"Now why would I do that when I have the most perfect woman right in front of me? When she's everything and all I want?" He let out a hum as he ghosted his lips over hers, wanting to desperately kiss her at that moment.
"Oh really now? I'm all you want?" She giggled in a mocking tone as her teeth caught onto his bottom lip and tugged on them slightly.
"Fuck!- yes. You're all I want. You're the love of my life, the object of my desires, the mother of my son..."
Cupping her cheeks, he tenderly kissed her, lips perfectly molding against hers as he tried to convey his adoration for her. When he pulled back, he stayed only a few centimeters away as he nuzzled his nose against hers.
"My wife." He whispered those two words so soft as if they were a solemn prayer not meant to be heard by anyone else.
Although his words brought a sense of warmth and fuzziness inside her, Y/N was not about to let Jongho off the hook so easily. He needed to be reminded of something else.
"You're forgetting something else Mr. CEO...... I'm not just your wife."
Jongho grunted when she suddenly pulled him by his belt loops, her knee coming up to rub against his crotch which was starting to swell up.
"I'm your boss."
He watched with amazement as she dropped down to her knees, her fingers making quick movements to unbuckle his belt. Stiffening when her hands squeezed at his bulge, Jongho heaved out a sigh.
"Don't tease me." He slightly whimpered to her.
Quirking an eyebrow up, she sent him a seductive smirk.
"Wasn't planning on it."
Taking hold of the top of his trousers, she made sure to pull his briefs down with them, freeing his hardened cock that was already leaking at the tip. Running her thumb across his head, she looked up to find her husband flushing a crimson red hue, a soft chortle escaping his throat as he realized what she was doing. Pressing his bulbous tip against her lips, she coated them with a warm gloss before pushing them inside the barrier of her teeth, raking the underside of it. That motion alone already had Jongho's thighs shaking. Her tongue swirled around his shaft, giving the head a subtle suckle. At last, she opened her mouth more widely and drove him deeper into her throat until she was releasing a choking sound, a trail of moisture spilling out from the corner of her mouth. Pulling back, she hummed around his length to further intensify the sensation.
"Oh my god." Jongho moaned as his hands tried to reach towards the back of her head, which were quickly slapped away by her.
"Nuh uh my love, we're playing with my rules right now."
Jongho had to steady himself by gripping the desk behind him, resisting the urge to buck himself up into his wife's throat. He let out sharp gasps and groans when she gave him a particularly long slurp, gurgling melodies practically coming out her mouth. He filled her throat to the brim, his dripping organ stroking against her tongue each time she moved it to and fro. Instinctively parting her knees, she reached beneath her skirt to touch herself, finding herself to be dripping as well. Raising her eyes upwards, she saw Jongho's head thrown back, mouth open and spilling out melodic hums of bliss and lust as his pelvis began to thrust faster against her face, chasing his upcoming release with a determined intensity. Feeling his thighs tighten and his cock twitch, she knew it was only a matter of time before his hot liquid would spurt into her throat. Wanting to please him, her mouth began a mix of lapping, sucking and licking at his length, soaking his flesh until long pools of saliva came trickling down her chin and onto her neck. Her mouth kept moving back and forth, heightening his excitement until he began pumping his climax into her, his seed flowing down her throat which she swallowed generously.
"Oh fuck! Oh God!" Jongho cried out, not caring to keep his voice down as he had just had one of the most exhilarating orgasms after months of only having his hand to keep him company during those needy moments.
Pulling out of his wife's mouth, her lips glistened with a blend of her spit and of his cum. Getting up from the ground, she pulled out her hand that had during this time stayed between her legs, her arousal glowing on the tip of her fingers. Holding them up to her husband's face, she smeared some of it across his lip.
"Suck."
His mouth parted instantly as he graciously accepted her fingers into his wet cavern, licking off the sweet juices from her core. She watched him with utter fascination, always loving how he was always so pliant with her every command. Once sure he had licked her clean of anymore secretions, she pulled her hand out of his mouth and quickly replaced it with her own. Their tongues danced around each other as their arms wrapped around the other's body. Pent up desire and weakened passions were flowing through every touch and caress of their hands. They both realized just how much they had been missing each other's bodies, forgetting about their needs up until that moment. Pulling away with reluctance to catch her breath, Y/N looked up at the already disheveled looking male in front of her and smirked.
"Hop on top of the desk.......Sir." She whispered that last word in his ear, biting down at his earlobe.
His shivering body did not go unnoticed by her and she was more than delighted to watch as he practically cleared the desk, letting papers and other utensils scatter on the floor as he sat up on top of it. Reaching back inside her skirt, Y/N dragged her now soiled panties down her legs and set them off to the side, already knowing what she would do with them later. Climbing on top of Jongho's lap, she took hold of his cock one more time and began to pump him slowly, getting him worked up once more, his soft tender skin becoming erect and hard once again. Noticing the way his eyes peered at her slight cleavage, she used her free hand to unbutton her blouse before pulling her bra cups down enough for her breasts to pop out. Jongho swore he could cum at just the sight of them, nipples poking out and gleaming with the hints of milk oozing out.
"Suck on them. Drink mommy's milk up. After all, they're for daddy too." She encouraged him with a giggle.
His mouth devoured her breasts. He gnawed at the stiff buds of her nipples and suckled against her until her sweet nectar began trickling onto his tongue. Y/N arched her back and began spilling out erotic moans, teeth biting down occasionally at her lip as she couldn't handle the overwhelming pleasure of having her husband feed on her breast milk. Jongho was enjoying himself as well. She was moist to the point of being succulent. His tongue slipped against her fleshy mounds and he could feel himself choking on the rich taste she produced. The more he worked on sampling her flavor, the more she sighed and panted as she pushed her chest more out to him. All throughout this, her hand never stopped pumping at his length.
Jongho whined when she suddenly pushed his face off her chest, a tiny trail of milk being left on his lip. Gripping his base more firmly, she placed him right at her aching entrance and sunk down on him with no warning, causing his breath to hitch.
"I'm gonna fuck you Jongho. Fuck you til you're a crying mess to remind you who this dick belongs to. And you're gonna take it like the good slave you are. Got it?"
He nodded his head furiously, wanting nothing than to feel her take advantage of him, use him as she pleased. With an evil smile, she reached for the discarded panties she had momentarily forgotten about.
"Oh...and I guess we better keep quiet. I know I can keep it down. But you? You need a little help."
Jongho spewed out pornographic sounds as she stuffed his mouth with her panties. He could taste her sex on his tongue but he had no time to fully enjoy it when she suddenly began to bounce herself on his cock. When he tried to grip at her hips, she caught his wrists and slammed them down on the desk, his back hitting against the hard wood, but he didn't care. He was too immersed on the excruciating pleasure of having her tightness press around his cock. The desk underneath them rocked with every one of their sinful movements, no doubt alerting anyone within a few feet near the doorway, perhaps even further down. And that's what Y/N wanted. She wanted to make sure all the people outside finally understood that Choi Jongho was hers, hers only and no one else's. No one could ever take him away from her because she had him wrapped around her finger.
"Look at you, you look so pathetic. My dirty panties in your mouth, my hands keeping you from moving as I bounce myself on your cock."
Once again she felt the familiar twitch of his head warning her he was going to bust at any moment. It only fueled her to grind down on him harder.
"Who would have thought the powerful and mighty CEO would be nothing more than a little slut? Eager to get his dick wet enough to bend down to his assistant. You were so fucking easy my love."
Her mocking and teasing only helped in having him spasm underneath her, his orgasm ripping through his body in such an extreme manner he thought he would go insane. But Y/N didn't let him fully come down from his high when she began rutting herself once more on him, this time with more force and vigor that had Jongho crying out. His eyes began to became filled with tears, muffled pleading incoherent due to being gagged by her underwear. Before he could even comprehend what was happening, another orgasm was being forced out of him, his seed overflowing from inside Y/N's core that it began to cascade down into her inner thighs, droplets even falling onto the furniture underneath them.
"Even with your mouth occupied you still manage to be such a loud brat, I bet this entire floor can hear you. What? Is that what you want? Want all your employees to hear as I fuck you like my personal sex doll?"
Jongho's eyes rolled to the back of his head as he heard her words. He hated admitting it but having her degrade him, talk down to him and reduce him to nothing more than a pleasure toy never failed to make his toes curl.
"Maybe you do and that's fine. I want all of them, especially that little skank to hear as I ruin you. Let them know who's really in charge here."
Y/N's movements became more sloppy as she felt her own climax approaching, her walls squeezing unbearably down on Jongho's dick. Her breasts were jiggling with every move, adding more sensuality to the already wicked image of her riding her husband's body.
"Can you cum once more for mommy? I know you can. Daddy can definitely give mommy his cum one more time right?"
Jongho nodded, grumbling something that was not understandable. With a prideful look, Y/N raked her hands across his chest.
"Fill my pussy up once more love. Knock me up with another one of your kids. Wanna get pregnant once more by you. Fuck!"
She cursed loudly as she began shattering on top of him, chest heaving as she released her juices onto his thick cock, which was also pumping out the last remnants of his seed and coating her walls profusely. Jongho fell into a spiraling oblivion of pleasure, unable to feel anything but his throbbing dick pulsating around her heat as it milked him out of every last drop of his cum. He was in heaven, even if it was a sinful act they just committed.
Y/N let out a hiss as she pulled out of him, a long trail of sticky cum pouring onto the desk and even dropping onto the carpet. Her legs felt wobbly as she tried to walk, the numbness in her feet soon turning into a pins and needles sensation. Taking her panties off his mouth and stuffing them into his pocket, Jongho quickly fixed himself, zipping his pants back up and getting up just in time to catch his darling wife before she tumbled onto the floor
"It's ok my dear. I got you." He sweetly smiled at her and rubbed at her sore lower abdomen.
"I love you." She suddenly said.
Tilting her chin up, he kissed her temple.
"I love you more, so much more." He confessed.
"Enough to let me take the rest of the day off and go back home?" She made puppy eyes at him.
Jongho bursted out laughing at her question, nuzzling his nose against the crook of her neck.
"You're so funny babe.....nice try but no. We still have a meeting today." He reminded her, which earned him a huffing spouse.
"Have I ever mentioned I hate my boss?" She nudged him away, to which he snorted.
"Darling let's be real here. You're the real boss here. And I wouldn't have it any other way."

Six years had passed since the last time he was with you, before disappearing overnight. He didn't give you any explanation, he didn't even leave a note. He needed to protect you, but he also knew how stubborn you were and that you wouldn't let him take that decision for both. So Bucky simply left, breaking your heart in one thousand pieces. You wanted to understand his reasons, but you couldn't. He promised you eternal love, a life together, moving out of New York —maybe to a remote place where anyone could recognize him and have peaceful days, without having to be worried about someone coming after him. About someone trying to hurt you.
Since the very first moment you met in Romania, Bucky fell in love with you. Sometimes you still remembered how he started talking to you in Romanian, guessing you were from there until you laughed and replied in English. The next few weeks were like a daydream. Walks, romantic dates, nights of stargazing. Then, you came back to New York and kept in touch by letters, as in the forties or fifties. Until one day. Your friends invited you to a museum and what you discovered there was unbelievable. James, your James, was Captain America's best friend. And he was supposed to be dead.
You wrote to him. You told him you knew it. You told him you didn't care, that you could figure out how to escape from that situation. Together. But he never sent you a letter back. You weren't able to forget him after all that time, still sleeping every night with his red shirt, stupidly fantasizing about the idea of Bucky coming back to you. And your hopes increased when you watched him on TV. The Avengers found him and, even if you tried to contact them somehow to defend your James, you never got it. Nobody believed you, not even when you showed them the letters, not the only picture you conservated of both of you in Bucharest. You prayed to God to help him. You begged God to the world seeing him as you did.
But when Bucky was released on parole, he never tried to look for you. He did know you lived in New York and, with his resources, he'd have known in less than five minutes. One year had passed, and you ended up losing the most minimal hope wrapping your heart. All those things he told you once, were just lies. Lies to inventing a parallel life until you left Romania. Only replying to your letters to have something to lean on for his own good. That's what he demonstrated to you.
bucky's pov
Like every night since he earned part of his freedom, Bucky stared at the windows of your apartment, from the opposite sidewalk hidden behind a tree. Like a ghost. Like he was trained to see but not be seeing. Every night, he wanted to cross the road, call to your door, kiss you, hug you, feel your touch and your love —hold you, and never let you go again. But he knew it was risky, he knew he had to wait for the right time. And it came. Tonight it came. His year of therapy had ended and he was free. Bucky was free to come back home.
He had been watching you since it started, making sure you were safe and sound. He also was aware that you never rebuilt your life with another man, that you tried to find him. That you slept every night with his shirt. Bucky was also aware of all the times you cried for him, that you always walked the same way from your job to your apartment expecting to meet him in some street close to it. He knew you better than you knew yourself.
Taking a deep, deep breath, keeping his hands inside the pockets of his coat, the soldier put a step on the road. The first step to happiness. And then, no one could stop him. He continued to the front door of the building, not needing more than a push to open it. Third floor, fifth door at the right of the corridor. Bucky licked his bottom lip nervously, swallowing as he took a master key from one of his pockets and a small metallic stick to force the lock of your house. He needed to be fast and stealthy, ringing the bell wasn't an option for very obvious reasons. Breaking into the apartment, he closed the door quietly behind his back.
The lights were all turned off a couple of hours ago when you went to sleep, after sitting on the window of your living room waiting for someone who wasn't going to show up, as every night for the last six years. The whole place smelled sweet like you used to. Bucky never forgot your scent, using it as the encouragement he needed to continue fighting for his freedom, for a life together. Now, his heart was racing so quickly that the whole city could hear his beats.
Slowly, he toured the entrance, the living room, the hallway straight to your dorm. The door was half-closed. Not a single noise coming from the inside. Bucky walked towards it, pushing it in slow motion, trying to not wake you up. And if he knew before that could be that easy to watch you sleep —for creepy that it sounded— he would have watched you every night since he landed in New York.
Bucky wasn't sure about what to do. If he should wake you up, if he should let you sleep and come the next day after you finished your work. When he wanted to realize, he was running the nail of his index finger on your soft cheek. Your skin was still warm, which meant you fell asleep crying again. And that broke his heart, his soul. Being conscious of all the pain and the suffering he made you being through all that time was killing him from inside. And he wished he could have handled your relationship in another way. But there wasn't another way without you being collateral damage of his past.
Bucky was about to leave when he suddenly felt a hit to his collarbone, stumbling to the bed. He didn't have time to react when your right leg was beneath his cold arm and pinning down his neck, as your left leg was laced around it. Your hand gripping his wrist, immobilizing him, pointing at him with a loaded gun between your free fingers. Your breathing became erratic, your pulse was beating faster than ever, but you were ready to shoot if the occasion required it.
In the middle of the gloom you glimpsed at those deep oceanic blue eyes you had been craving to look at for years. The same eyes on the picture on your nightstand. It has to be another dream. Another nightmare where Bucky came to tell you that everything was going to be okay. But his touch felt so real that it hurt like a million flames burning down your body to ashes. You were paralyzed. Your brain collapsed. In a very slow motion, James —your James— raised his right hand from the mattress to above his chest, bringing it to the gun aimed at his head. You couldn't stop him. You tried with all your strength. But the commands sent by your neurons never reached the finger supported against the trigger.
His flesh digits made their way to your trembling hand, as the tears started to sprout out from your eyes. Bucky took the weapon, not needing to ask you to release it, to put it away from the two of you.
“It's okay, draga mea, it's me…” He whispered with such an angelical and melodic voice, over your dolorous sobs. “May I, uh… get my arm back?”
Bit by bit, you obeyed as if it was some kind of polite order, loosening the grip around his arm and over his neck. Stepping back till your body collided with the headboard, you curled up your knees to your furious chest rising and falling, hiding your face between the gap of both. Your cry became louder, agonic, painful, ripping your throat.
“No— Not again… Not again, please… I c— can't”. You implored sorely.
Bucky didn't need to be a genius to understand you firmly believed it was just part of another of your dreams. Another of your nightmares. He sat upon your bed, coming closer to you and landing his cold metallic hand on the back of your head, urging you to raise it. You did. You did raise your burning face because of the tears falling, running down your cheeks. Your blurry gaze focused on his pale blue eyes, begging you silently to forgive him.
“I'm here… I'm back”. Bucky murmured, gently touring your skin until reaching a side of your neck, caressing your throat by using his thumb. “This is not a dream, draga mea. This is real”.
His intentions weren't to scare you, speaking to you with such a honeyed tone of voice as he shortened the distance between his body and your legs yet curled. You pouted unconsciously, watching him leaning above your legs to press his lips on the bridge of your nose. Slowly, fondly. Wanting to transmit to you that the flame of his love for you never went out. Resting his forehead against yours, your right hand flew straight to the back of his neck. You had never needed more than you needed him at that precise instant, trying to believe that that wasn't a trick of your subconscious.
“'M so, so sorry… I had to protect you… I had to protect you”. Bucky explained while closing his eyes, lacing his free fingers with yours. “But, uh… I know you still drink black coffee with mocha and a stick of cinnamon every Thursday. I know you… rent a book from the library and sit on the stairs in your free evenings… I know you sleep with this same shirt every night”.
Discovering he had been watching you all this time provoked your lips to shiver, as your cry became lower and your breathing was calmer. He guarded your days, in the shadows, till the right moment. And it came. Tonight was the right moment.
“I'm free. I'm not an enemy anymore… I'm not a target”. Bucky couldn't help but chuckle to hold back his own tears. “I'm so sorry”.
“Will you…? Will you stay now? With me?” At first, you doubted asking, being afraid of his response for a second.
“No one will ever set us apart again. No one”. He promised you, his heart speaking, telling the absolute truth. “Everything I told you in Bucharest; everything was true. And I… I want it”.
Bucky leaned forward enough inches to make disappear the less distance between both of you, pressing his lips in yours, tenderly caressing your jawline with his thumb as his tears met yours in the corner of your lips. Neither of you could believe that you were reunited after all these years, after all the pain, the loneliness. And like James, your James, said so: no one would ever set you apart again.

Warnings: Brief talk of Jordie and Kaz's trauma and touch aversion
A/N: Wow this ended up being longer than I intended! I'm so sorry it's taken so long, I was focused on The Bastard's Shadow and Affluenza pts1 + 2, and then I started picking up more shifts at work and got writers block at the same time. I really hope you like how it turned out!! ❤❤
Pt1 here
Tumblr media
After the very enlightening visit from Kaz, the days seemed to drag on even slower than before. The next two months went by in a crawl, and no matter how much you buried yourself in work you couldn’t distract from the longing you felt to get out of your apartment.
When your messenger came to deliver the news that your pursuers were willing to come to a truce you had been so happy that you’d gone straight to pour yourself a glass of whisky to celebrate. From then, you counted down the days until the meeting that you set up, the result of which should mean that you were free to roam the city again.
Inej had shown you how to get out of the window and onto the roof months ago. It was your escape route in case of an emergency, but you had used it every now and then just to sit on the roof and enjoy a taste of the outside world. That night, you had climbed out with intention and dressed in your finest coat.
You travelled over the rooftops towards the Government district, where your meeting had been arranged to take place near the Stadhall. The presence of the stadwatch would serve to protect you in case the deal went south.
You had been jittery with a mix of anxiety and excitement when you descended to street level and wended your way through the streets to find three men waiting for you at the Stadhall, all of them tall, broad and commanding. Barrel businessmen that you had crossed one too many times, and no doubt they had been angered that forcing you into hiding hadn’t put a stop to your business.
You were too smart to have not found a way around it; you had to be to run the business that you did. You owned three boarding houses and two bars in the Barrel and two ships that brought in imports from Ravka and Novyi Zem, a squaller as a permanent fixture on the crew of each to whom you paid a fair salary. You’d had Kaz put them under the protection of the Dregs to keep them safe from slavers. On top of all of that, you used your contacts in Ravka, Novyi Zem and other parts of Kerch to help get kids out of the Barrel and into honest work elsewhere. You might operate from the criminal underbelly of Ketterdam, but you made a mostly honest living.
The meeting took longer than you had anticipated. The three men were eager to negotiate territories that you couldn’t conduct business in and items that they didn’t want you to import because it was cutting into their own business. You held firm, you knew what was fair and you would be damned if you let anyone bully you into submission.
In the end, you essentially just agreed not to get in their way, which was easy enough to do. You wouldn’t actively compete with them in the sale of imported goods, and you wouldn’t try to convince any of the lads that they used as runners and grunts to get out of the Barrel. As long as you kept your distance from them you’d be fine, since they were clearly tired of chasing after you.
“Alright then, the deal is the deal.” You said, holding out your hand. All three shook hands with you in turn, echoing the phrase as was customary. When the man in the middle – clearly the leader and the last to shake with you – took your hand, you tightened your grip and leaned forward. “If you try to cheat me after this deal, you will have Dirtyhands to answer to.” You said lowly. He tried not to show his reaction but the fear in his eyes betrayed him, and you released his hand. It wasn’t often that you involved Kaz and his reputation in your affairs, but sometimes it paid to be friends with the most ruthless man in Ketterdam.
You left the meeting with your head held high and took a gondel back to the Barrel. You were approached by a few people who stayed in one of your boarding houses or drank in one of your bars on your walk to the Crow Club, telling you that they had been curious or worried about having not seen you around for so long. You didn’t engage in any conversation beyond polite acknowledgment, too eager to get to the Crow Club.
Inej was the only one that knew that you were getting out tonight. You had told her when she had come to deliver your food for the week and she had promised to try and keep everyone corralled at the Crow Club so that you could make a big entrance, but the later it got the less likely it was that she could keep them all there without raising suspicion.
You practically ran down the last street towards the Crow Club, bursting through the open door and searching the crowd for your friends. Jesper caught sight of you at the same moment that you spotted them all at the bar, and you saw his jaw drop in shock. A huge grin spread on your face as he set his drink down, his sudden change in demeanor getting the attention of the rest of the group and causing them to turn to follow his gaze.
“Y/N?” Jesper called, prompting you into as much of a sprint as you could manage across the crowded floor of the gambling hall. You vaulted yourself into him, wrapping your arms tightly around his lanky frame. “You’re back! How?” He exclaimed, and you laughed as you felt him hug you back and sweep you off of your feet.
“I had a meeting to call a truce. As of tonight I am a free person!”
“We missed you so much!” Nina grinned, prying Jesper’s arms off of you so that she could pull into a hug herself. “Why didn’t you tell us that you were finally coming out of hiding?”
“I wanted it to be a surprise.” You grinned, pulling away so that you could move to hug Wylan next. “I missed you guys so much too, you have no idea.” You caught sight of Kaz over Wylan’s shoulder, his eyes wide as if he couldn’t quite believe what he was seeing. You pointed your smile at him and his lips twitched upwards before he cooled his expression and gave you a simple nod.
Your reunion was spirited to say the least, even Matthias couldn’t help but smile at the fact that you were back. You made them tell you about all of the most significant things that you had missed in the year that you had been trapped inside and update you on any power shifts between the Barrel gangs. Jesper wouldn’t shut up, Wylan was excited to tell you about all of the new explosives and weapons that he had developed, and Nina was making a list of places that she wanted to get lunch together to make up for lost time. It felt amazing to be with them all again.
“Okay! I want to play a few hands of Three Man Bramble before I go.” You announced, pushing your glass away from you after downing the last of its contents.
“Don’t have to ask me twice.” Jesper grinned, slinging an arm around your shoulder and guiding you to a table.
It seemed apt that fortune seemed to be in your favour, winning so consistently that you continued to play even though you knew that you shouldn’t. It felt like every time that you looked up from the table you caught Kaz watching you, and his unashamed gaze made your heart flutter.
After a while you saw him give a slight nod towards the door, an action that meant that it was time to go, and you tucked you lip between you teeth as you gave a subtle nod back and turned your attention back to your cards.
“Unbelievable!” Jesper exclaimed upon seeing that you had won again. “I guess you’re catching up on a year’s worth of luck.”
“Perhaps, but I’m going to quit while I’m ahead.” You smiled, gathering up your winnings. “I need to go and breathe some more fresh air.” You pocketed half of your winnings and pushed the other half around the table to Jesper. “Not too much fun.”
“There’s no such thing as too much fun.” He beamed and pulled you to him so that he could plant a kiss on your cheek. “Good to have you back, Y/N.”
“Good to be back, Jes.” You winked before bounding back to the bar to say goodbye to the rest of your friends. Kaz had already disappeared, no doubt in an attempt to avoid drawing attention to the fact that you were leaving together.
“We’re going to get waffles tomorrow. I will break your door down if I have to.” Nina asserted, practically crushing your ribs in a hug. “Inej, you’re coming too.”
“What about me?” Wylan pouted, and you laughed.
“Everyone’s invited.” You replied, holding his face and turning it towards you so that you could press a soft kiss on his forehead before pulling him in for a hug. “I just got out, I want to spend time with you all!”
You kept your hug with Inej pretty short, considerate of the bad feelings that too much contact could stir up in her, and even managed to coax a hug from Matthias before you headed out. Kaz was waiting not far from the entrance and you smiled as you quickly made your way towards him
“Hey.” You chirped.
“You wanted it to be a surprise, huh?” He questioned, starting towards the Slat. You chuckled.
“I know you’re not a big fan of surprises, Kaz, but I thought this might be a fun one. Why? Were you offended that I told Inej and not you?”
“Did you have anyone go with you to your meeting?”
“No, I didn’t need any backup.”
“Things could have gone badly, and you didn’t tell anyone about it.”
“Well things didn’t go badly.” You rebutted. “I’m here, I’m fine, and I surprised you all.”
“You shouldn’t put yourself in danger like that.” Kaz said flatly, ignoring your point, and you groaned loudly at his stubbornness.
“If it makes you feel better, I made sure to drop your name in to intimidate them. But I can handle my own business.”
You hopped along the cobblestones playfully, irrationally happy to be back out on the filthy and foul smelling streets of the Barrel, but even the stink couldn’t dampen your joy at finally being free. You were sure that you and Kaz probably looked like a bizarre pair walking together now, him with his stoic exterior and identifying limp next to your childlike joy, though you had taken after him fashion wise with your smart attire and well-fitted, black coat.
Walking back to the Slat with Kaz took you in the opposite direction to your home – now that you were out of hiding you could finally return to where you actually lived in a house on the boundary of East Stave and the Zelver District – but you wanted to talk to Kaz, and he wouldn’t have asked you to leave with him if he didn’t want to talk to you too. Nevertheless, you continued the rest of the walk in silence.
When you got to the Slat, Kaz continued straight up to his room while you lingered on the ground floor to say hello to some of the Dregs that you were more friendly with. The noise of the Slat was unfamiliar to you after so long, but you had kind of missed the rowdiness of it.
You followed upstairs shortly after. Kaz had left his door ajar for you and you could see him sat at his desk through the opening.
“Shut the door behind you.” He said as you slipped inside, and you heard the door click as you push it shut after yourself.
“You wanna talk to me?” You questioned, walking over to lean on the side of the desk casually. “Or did you just want some time to look at my gorgeous face?” He did look up at you then, his eyes darting around to take in the entirety of your face, and you felt your heart flutter.
“How did your meeting go? What deals did you make?” He asked. You sighed. It wasn’t new that Kaz was asking about your business, he liked to know about what you were doing the same way that he liked to know about literally everything else, but you had hoped that this conversation would be a little less mundane than that. You had hoped that he might express an iota of joy that you were back.
“I can’t dock my ships in 3rd Harbour anymore.” You shrugged. “So I’ll stick to 2nd for imports going into the morning market, mostly 5th for everything else. There’s a few streets that I need to keep my business off of, and obviously I can’t try and undermine their operations anymore. That doesn’t mean that I won’t, it just means that I’ll be smarter about not getting caught.”
“And what do you get from them?”
“They leave me alone. I don’t need more than that. I mean, their terms are hardly going to impede my business anyway.”
“And your insurance?”
“You.” You smiled sweetly. “Very few people are bold enough to cross someone that has Kaz Brekker on side.”
“I thought you prided yourself on running an honest business.”
“I do. My association with you doesn’t make my business any less legit. I’m more honest than most of the Merchant Council anyway.”
“That’s fair.” He conceded with a slight nod.
Kaz had visited you a few times since the night that you had both let on about how much you cared about each other, but you hadn’t talked about it. It felt like the tension between you had been building and building like an elastic band ready to snap. It was driving you crazy.
“Anything else that you want to talk about?” You hinted. Kaz let out a long breath, his eyes sliding away from you for a moment. You could tell that he wanted to talk about it but he was struggling to get it out. “Because you haven’t told me that you’re glad I’m back yet.”
“I am glad that you’re back.” He affirmed, then he took a hard swallow. “We all missed you.” You smiled brightly at that.
You could hear the crows moving around on the half-roof outside of Kaz’s window and crossed the room to perch on the windowsill. There hadn’t been anywhere for the birds to land in the apartment that you had been cooped up in.
“Can I stay here for a while? I don’t want to be alone again just yet.” You said softly, tucking one knee up against your chest as you watched the birds through the glass.
“Sure.” Kaz answered.
You sat in silence for a while after that, which wasn’t unusual for you two. Before you had gone into hiding, you had spent many evenings with Kaz in his office just like this. Tonight felt different though. Something had opened between the two of you and now you couldn’t close it. The feeling permeated every corner of the room until you felt like you might explode if you didn’t break this silence, but, to your surprise, Kaz spoke first.
“I’ve been thinking about that day that I saw you outside the Crow Club.”
“Why?” You asked, blinking in surprise. Kaz was still facing forward at his desk, back turned to you, but his pen had stilled over the page.
“I watched you for a while, deciding whether to chase you off or recruit you for the Dregs.” He continued, ignoring your question. You were used to that too. “You were good at pickpocketing – you could spot a good mark, distracted them by pretending to beg for pennies – but you stayed in one place for too long.”
“I know, you told me at the time.” You smiled amusedly.
“I was just planning on telling you exactly that, but after I got your attention and you looked at me I knew that I had seen you before. It was in your eyes.” He turned around to look at you then, his gaze finding yours immediately. “Your eyes never changed.”
Kaz’s eyes had. Maybe that was why you hadn’t recognised him. Kaz Rietveld had eyes full of wonder and warmth, that were curious about everything and shone when he was happy. Kaz Brekker's eyes were cold, they held secrets. The curiosity had become analytical, and the shine had turned into a devious glint. Kaz Rietveld didn’t exist anymore, the R tattoo on Kaz’s bicep was the only relic of him, and you were the only one left to remember him.
“Crows remember the faces of those that are kind.” He finished softly.
“And that’s why you took me in? Because I was kind?”
“Because we were friends. We are friends.”
“Just friends?” You murmured, a challenge in your eyes. It wasn’t a provoking challenge, more of an encouraging one. You wanted to know where he stood and you wanted him to be able to tell you. He was silent for a long stretch.
“Would we ever be able to be more?” He asked. You knew what he meant. Kaz had built up so many walls that he didn’t know how to let down, and he knew that about himself. It was how he had survived, but it was a way of being that wasn’t very conducive to relationships. He didn’t think that he could do it.
“That depends on you.” You answered with a soft smile. “Because I’m not looking anywhere else.” Kaz swallowed and looked away quickly, but you swore that you had seen a hint of a blush in his cheeks.
A knock came at the door, and you cursed whoever was on the other side in your head.
“What is it?” Kaz called.
“There’s a man downstairs says he has a job for you.” Specht’s voice came through the wood. “Won’t talk to no one else but you.”
“I’ll be down in a minute.” Kaz replied, then muttered something under his breath bitterly. You heard the creak of Specht's retreating footsteps and Kaz turned to you. “Will you wait until I get back?”
“I’m not going anywhere.”
You watched Kaz leave the room and let out a long sigh once the door had closed behind him. You were finally talking about whatever it was that was between the two of you and you just had to get interrupted.
You shed your coat, dropping it lazily on the floor next to you, and rolled up your shirt sleeves. Despite the pressure put on you from some members of the Dregs, you had never gotten the crow and cup tattoo on your forearm. You had known from the start that you didn’t want to belong to the gang, no matter how thankful you were for the help that Kaz had given you.
When you had realised who it really was that had approached you that night outside the Crow Club, you had been shocked. He knew your name when he spoke to you, though he had seemed unsure of it, and you had furrowed your brow and asked if you knew him.
“It’s Kaz.” He had said, and you had blinked.
“Kaz Rietveld?” You had whispered in disbelief. His jaw had clenched, his shoulders stiffened.
“That’s not my name anymore.” He snapped. “It’s Kaz Brekker now.”
When you asked him why he had changed his name he had simply told you that it was easier that way. When you asked him about why he was in Ketterdam he had answered that his father had died and they had sold the farm. When you asked about Jodie he didn’t answer.
He had walked you to the Slat, told you not to talk to anyone, and brought you up to this very room. You had trusted him enough to follow. Despite his proud presence in the Barrel, despite the fact that he was walking you into the den of a gang, despite the fact that he was almost unrecognisable from the Kaz that you knew as a child, you had trusted him. And in the years that followed, he had never broken that trust.
He had helped you pay for the first boarding house that you purchased, come with you to the bank when you took out the loan to buy your first ship, had come to the harbour to see you off the first time that you had gone to Ravka.
Kaz had once reminded you of something from your childhood while around the other Crows, and once it had slipped that you and Kaz had been friends when you were young, people were constantly asking you about what he had been like. He never told anybody anything about himself and people had been eager to find a source of information on him, but most people had quickly come to realise that you weren’t going to say anything either. Kaz had never thanked you for your discretion, but you knew that he was glad for it.
If you were honest with yourself, you had found yourself drawn to him ever since you got your first glimpse through his cold and uncaring exterior and saw his loyal and protective nature. The pull had only grown since.
Your thoughts were broken by the sound of the door opening, and you looked over to watch Kaz enter. The door clicked shut behind him and he moved to the wash basin directly across the room from the window that you were sat in, set down his cane and pulled off his gloves .
“A good job?” You asked. He shrugged.
“A job that I’ll do.” He answered and began unbuttoning his shirt. You tried not ogle as he pulled it off and picked up the washcloth from the basin, but you caught sight of a reddened stripe of raised skin across his side and furrowed your brows.
“When did that happen?”
“A few days ago.”
“How deep did it go?”
“Not too deep.”
“It doesn’t look like you stitched it up properly.”
“It’s fine.” He dismissed. You rolled your eyes and got up from the window ledge. Kaz never took proper care of himself but he was always too stubborn to admit it.
“Let me see.”
“I said it’s fine, Y/N-"
“Kaz.” You interrupted sternly, meeting his eyes in the mirror. “I said let me see.” He held your gaze for a moment before letting out a huff and raising his arm so that you could get a better view of the wound.
You kept your distance as you looked over the injury, but you could clearly see that the stitches were sloppy on the end of the gash towards his back; the side that he couldn’t reach easily himself.
“You’re keeping it clean?”
“I know how to treat a wound.” He grumbled.
“I know that you know how, that doesn’t mean that I actually trust you to do it. You didn’t even have it bandaged or anything, what if it gets infected?”
“It won’t, Y/N, stop worrying so much.”
“Well, if you’re not going to worry about yourself then somebody else has to.” You exasperated. “At least bandage it.” You didn’t wait for a reply before you crossed over to the cabinet where he kept his impressive stock of medical supplies and grabbed a roll of gauze. Kaz caught it grudgingly when you tossed it to him and set it to the side while he finished washing his torso.
“You worry too much.” He muttered.
“It’s good for you.” You smiled.
You watched him as he unrolled the gauze and wrapped it around his body, carefully laying it over the wound with pale fingers that you rarely saw. He was precise, but he couldn’t see his back and the bandage twisted as he moved it between his hands.
“It’s folded.” You told him softly, taking half a step towards him. “I can fix it... if you want.” There was a beat of silence before Kaz nodded slightly.
You moved towards him slowly and reached for him even slower, your eyes constantly flicking back to the mirror to gauge the reaction on Kaz’s face. Your fingertips barely brushed over his back as you unfolded the downturned piece of bandage and you immediately stepped away when you were done. It took no more than a few seconds, but you could hear Kaz’s short breaths and when you looked at him in the mirror you could see that he had paled.
You picked up the clean shirt that was laid on his bed and held it out to him at full arms length. His hand shook as he took it from you. He pulled it on quickly, making short work of the buttons, and pulled his gloves back on hastily.
“Sorry.” You mumbled, though you weren’t exactly sure what you were apologising for.
“It’s because of Jordie.” Kaz’s voice was hoarse when he spoke, his eyes trained on his shoes. “Why I can’t touch anyone. It’s because when he died...”
“You don’t have to tell me, Kaz.” You said softly when he trailed off. He shook his head slightly and cleared his throat, squeezing his eyes shut for a few seconds.
“When Jordie died, I was sick too. It was the Queen's Lady plague. One night, I fell asleep in an alley and woke up on the Reaper's Barge.” He swallowed thickly, wringing his hands together thoughtlessly, and you could see sweat forming on his brow. “When my fever broke, I had to swim back to the harbour, and Jordie... whenever someone touches me, all I can feel is those corpses.”
Silence hung between you as you tried to find the words to respond. It was a lot of information to take in, but suddenly things made sense. Now you understood why Kaz had become the way that he was; why he was prone to shutting people out, why the light behind his eyes had dimmed.
“Kaz, I... I’m sorry, I don’t know what to say.”
“That’s okay.” He muttered. “I have work to do. You’re welcome to stay as long as you’d like.” He crossed the room to sit down at his desk, his movements tense. You watched him for a minute, unsure of what to do. It felt wrong to leave him alone right now, but you didn’t know if he would want you to stay.
“I’m sailing to Novyi Zem next week.” You said. It was the first topic that you could think of. “I’d really appreciate it if you could look over the rent ledgers while I’m gone.”
“Sure.” He replied flatly. Silence again.
“Will you come with us all to get waffles tomorrow?”
“I have work to do, and Nina didn’t invite me anyway.”
“Yeah, well, the celebration is for me and I’d really like for you to be there.” You smiled slightly. “She probably didn’t invite you because she knew you’d say no.”
“Smart of her.” Kaz responded, and you let out a frustrated huff.
“Don’t do that, Kaz. Don’t shut me out.” You complained. He didn’t answer at all. You folded your arms over your chest and went to stand beside his chair. “I don’t care that you can’t touch people, it doesn’t bother me. You went through trauma and that’s not your fault. What is bothering me is that you’re choosing to stay closed off to everyone. You can’t keep your walls up forever, you’ll kill yourself trying.”
“I can’t handle it, Y/N.” He snapped, his voice low. The gravel in his voice might have intimidated you into backing off if you weren’t so adamant on getting through to him.
“You’ll never be able to handle it if you don’t start trying.” You insisted. “Maybe if you’d just admit to yourself that you care about people it wouldn’t be so hard to see that we care about you too.”
Kaz pinched the bridge of his nose, his eyes shut tightly, and released a long breath. You watched him, waiting for a response, not backing down. After a moment of silence, he glanced up at you.
“I can’t need anyone.” He said slowly. “Not after Jordie. I can’t let myself need anyone else.”
“You don’t have to need me, Kaz. You just have to want me.” You replied softly. His head snapped towards you and you actually saw his pupils dilate for the few seconds that he held your gaze before quickly turning away again. You hadn’t meant it like that, but you weren’t upset that he’d heard it that way.
“I don’t deserve you.” He muttered. You leaned against his desk, a sympathetic smile on your face even though he wasn’t looking at you.
“I’ve been around this long, I’m not going anywhere.” You promised. “There’s more to love about you than you think.”
Kaz tapped on his desk with a finger, a nervous action that he would usually suppress. Then, he took a sharp inhale and turned back to you.
“Okay.” He breathed. “I can try.” You bit down on your tongue in an attempt to suppress your grin, but you couldn’t stop the smile that stretched across your face.
“That’s all I ask.” You lilted. You stood up straight, pushing off of the desk and starting across the room to the window. You rolled your shirt sleeves down and snatched your coat up from the floor. “I’m going to head home. I expect to see you at my door promptly at eleven bells tomorrow morning, ready to get waffles.”
“Alright.” He nodded, breathing a single light laugh.
“Perfect. I’ll see you then.”
“Here, Y/N, these are for you.” He said quickly, picking up and couple of envelopes from his desk and holding them up for you. “You’ll have to make sure to notify your business partners of your change in mailing address.” You chuckled, going to take the letters from him, and he gave a small smirk as he handed them over.
“Thank you.” You smiled, before turning and heading to the door. “Eleven bells, Brekker. I know you’re a punctual man.”
“I’ll be there.” He affirmed. “Goodnight, Y/N.”
“Goodnight, Kaz.” You echoed softly before stepping out of the room and shutting the door behind you, a fond smile on your lips.
