Sadly you can't really see the lineart that much anymore (that thing took me 2 hours ToT) but I think it still looks really cool!

So basically I made a Minecraft skin for this server my friends started (I wanted to be the cool astrologist/astronomist lady with the big library and a huge telescope thingy), and I really liked the skin so I decided to draw it! Here's the skin for reference :D

SMG34: LIPBITE COMIC WIP UPDATE

oh boy... i know a bunch of folks are hyped for this comic... and boy oh boy are ya'll's prayers going to be heard... kind of... butt for the celebration milestone, and granted majority are from this comic, i thought it was best to give EVERYTHING that i have currently.

starting off STRONG with what you freaks most want: the completed pages. andddd yep that's it that all that i have done LMAO. i've been fixated on my own smg4 oc: tsb, and during the end of my summer was unfortunately fucked over by some personal issues that fortunately got resolved last minute good grief the anxiety prevented me from drawing the gays sigh... aNYWAYS LINEART WIPS!!!!

here are linearts i have completed / in the progress of!! want to aim like i did in the past by finishing up lineart first, and then speed through with color + minor rendering. the reason i have a few colored is to test out what it would look polished and my god... i have improved A LOT. THESE GAY PEOPLE GIVE POWER I AM NOT KIDDING BELIEVE ME IM NOT CRAY- anyways onto wip pages!

jumpscare: tsb stickman sketches. oh yeah. this is how i sketch and i blame sensei eiichiro oda /j. and in case anyone is unable to understand it {i don't blame u LMAO}, smg4 wakes up from the dream and is startled to see mario by his bed. they have a short convo before mario leaves, and we get a job to smg4 in the bathroom trying to put up a brave face. until the moment he leaves he's stunned due to seeing smg3 at his front door. will i elaborate more on specifics or unwritten dialogue? NOPE! gotta keep secrets to make it even more enjoyable at the end!!

currently at 13 sketched pages total, but this is probably gonna be reaching towards 20-ish pages, surpassing part two, but it will depend on how i come up with how to end it. additionally to confirm there will be a PART FOUR / chapter 3, to end this story. my goal is to have it done before i finish my senior year, or at least during the summer after i graduate bc good lord who knows whats gonna happen.

drawing this one was so time-consuming and ambitious but boy, do i love the end result! i had fun doing the inks for this one but was it a lot! i usually color in lineart and render everything but i had to stop myself from doing it for this one bc man, i'll die asksks

this also has some of my favorite apollos i've drawn, definitely

also! the part about the lineart not being colored and no rendering ended up being a deliberate stylistic choice for this one bc i had like more freedom to do just shadows with inks without it looking too out of place.

OCtober 2024 day 31: costume

I kinda simplified and left out some of the tattoos and left out the piercings completely which yeah OTL please forgive me for I don't know how to draw all these details in perspective (and the piercings kinda just came out wonky when I tried). The bat was difficult because I don't really know how to draw animals but the eyes were alright, I know how to draw eyes.

Tbh this entire piece fought me a lot. At first I wanted to try out the new art style again with colour palette and all but it really didn't work out so I just went back to my usual one with exception of the hair because drawing these kind of bangs with my usual art style is honestly a nightmare for me. Could I just have changed the hair? Yes. Yes, I could have but I also couldn't be bothered to figure that out so I just winged it. And ngl I'm not super satisfied with the end result because it clashes for me... Ugh once again we are back to the drawing board of: How to fucking draw hair.

After I figured out my lineart (which wasn't super difficult cause reference) and drew the hair it was colouring and rendering time and by god. The rendering... Lowkey killed me. It was a pain but I survived somehow. Also I have added bloodstains to the outfit on a whim because why not.

Anyways, it's done now and out in the wild. It's also the last post of OCtober and I just wanted to thank everyone who interacted with my silly posts for this event, you guys are all awesome! I had a lot of fun creating and sharing things this month and if irl allows me to I would love to do it again next year!

Hehehe artists commentary time. Cause idk I wanna talk about it.

This took me a long time ngl. I mean part of that was a took a break and then had to actively make myself sit down and finish it, which I don't regret.

This was the first time I've drawn Ranno and Liligator (as well as greninja from the front), so between that and the character spacing, posing, lineart, the fact I didn't have an actual lineart pen for most of this, and attempted color matching (cough cough perfectionist cough), it was a challenge. Dude color matching Liligator's blue was really frustrating for a while, but I'm happy with how it turned out. And its As Close As I Can Get™. Ranno's bubbles gave me hell when I started coloring them. I swatched a lot of potential strategies before I tried on the sketch, so eventually it worked out and I think they work pretty good. I've drawn greninja a couple times cause they're my main in ssbu, but MAN. Drawing them from the front. Not doing that again anytime soon I'm doing just great with a three quarters angle thanks. I still think their face looks off, but I redrew their eyes at least 50 times and had to just Leave It if I ever wanted to continue.

Despite all of that, I had such a clear image of this idea in my head so I went and put it on paper. Honestly this was really fun and I like having a project I can chip away at for a couple days.

Hi hi everyone <3

Am still alive, and still working a lot, which is the main reason why I am kinda MIA and not uploading as many artworks as I wish (tbh, I am not even working on as many artworks as I want, but hopefully I will have some free time soon enough and will be able to be more productive. fingers crossed for that).

Well, anyway. I have been spending what little free time I had at hand watching some old movies and cartoons that have shaped me as an artist (two in particular that I *absolutely* adore), and today during lunch time I really felt an itch that I needed to scratch.

I have wanted to try to draw in this style for many years now, but never truly had the confidence in my skills to be able to do so. I remember spending so much time combing through my artbooks from those movies just to be able to try and understand how the character designers managed to put on paper their creations. How to give them fluidity and movement and personality.

But today I wanted to try. I wanted to give it a shot.

And I adored it.

Lunch break never went faster, but the moment I was back home, I HAD to finish this.

And of course, I went with my favourite brainchild, Dorothea, in my MonstersMash!AU setting.

ngl, It was challenging for me to just focus on simplicity rather than hyper details and kinda realism, trying to figure out where to put the lineart and where instead let the colours do the job, but dear gods, I had fun. so much fun, I cannot even start to say.

Kuroha Speedpaint

Decided to fill in the rough base colours for this! I love doing rough colour drafts~ Helps me get a good idea of colours.

I put Outer Science as the BGM. Fitting for the Outer Science Person~

I also love the tuning and adlibs and robotic voice effects on the Len fan-cover of Outer Science so much~ The tuning is superior to the Original so it's my favourite version of Outer Science and my favourite fan-cover.

Watching this fan-cover is what got me into KagePro. It was my first time watching the Outer Science MV.

The tuning and mixing in this fan-made rearrange cover is insanely good. It's stronger than the original. The chorus has so much oomph and power to it in this, and I love the added adlibs and robotic effects on certain lines.

I prefer the instrumentals (guitar riffs, drums, and bass) of the OG though. The fan-cover version's instrumentals sounds more like an arcade, which is also fun.

I start with colour picking from the colour edit I did as a guide for colours

The faster way to fill in the base colours would be to create a new layer and temporarily close all the lines, then select the outside of the lines, invert the selection, and then use the bucket tool. I'd do this for more refined drawings that are in the lineart stage

I manually fill in the colours when doing rough base colours though. Manually filling in the base colours is relaxing ngl

Since they're rough colour drafts, I'm not shading/blocking in shadows, I just wanna get an idea of how the colours look together

1:05 - 1:10

When I do Gradient Maps and Layer Mode effects, I either clip them to the Colours, or put them in a folder and set them to Through so they can show on the layers underneath it.

I realized I couldn't eye drop the exact colours on the colour edit ref with the Folder set to Through Layer Mode (60% opacity), so I duplicated it, then merged the layers

I also adjusted the settings of my Eyedrop tool later so that it can grab the colour from the image itself, rather than just the colour on the Layer it's on. Cuz if you're not on the exact Layer, then it won't grab any colour.

I was considering whether I wanted to airbrush the tips of the fingers with a dark gradient cuz I love the darkened gradient limbs design trope. Douman has it canonically, and my friend Raisu added it on Idate's design (which is why I always draw him with it).

Decided to go without it here tho cuz I feel like it takes away from the colours

Doing colour edits and adjustments with Posterization and Hue/Saturation effects can throw the contrast out of wack, so I adjust the colours myself on my own drawings.

I usually shift the hues of shadows and highlights (in comparison to the base colours) to keep the colours interesting. I try to use different hues for them so the colours can pop more. I was trying to come up with a good colour for the darker black inner clothes

2:17 - 2:25

After roughly colouring the black spirals around him, I use Posterization on CSP.

Window Capture on OBS only records the main window for CSP, but I went to Layer > New Correction Layer > Posterization which creates a Posterization layer. I adjust the colours with this, which increases the contrast and darkens the colours slightly.

I'll probably fix the colours of the dark sleeves manually later.

I draw my lines on vector layers so I can easily adjust and edit (move and scale down/up) my lines without losing quality.

I duplicate the lineart, so I can use a CSP Auto Action that colours the lines. I used to manually colour my lines, but this one's quick and you can get really pretty line colours with it, cuz it colours the lineart according to the colours underneath.

It doesn't show the windows that performs the Auto Action through the recording, but I downloaded an Auto Action available on the CSP Assets Store that's called "Better Line Color" that follows a series of steps (it can be mimicked manually on other programs) and adjusts the colour of the lines according to the colours underneath it.

I think when I refine the drawing more, I wouldn't have the dark spirals apart of the lineart, and would just paint it instead.

I was playing around with whether I wanted the coloured lineart to be on "Multiply" or "Colour Burn" Layer mode. Depending on the drawing, either has really nice effects.

On my other drawings, like the coloured IdaTatsu and Selena doodles I had, I preferred the coloured lines on Colour Burn Layer mode cuz it adds a subtle saturated glow to the lines. Here, it adds a slightly blue edge to the lineart.

I went with Multiply for now (just cuz this keeps the colours of the black spirals intact better, but I'll consider which one looks better after)

Ene Speedpaint

0:00 - 0:32

I clean up the colours on Kuroha a bit. I also add back the gray transition colour on the hair (between the highlights and base colour)

I brighten the eyes a bit and make it slightly more saturated

I start filling in the base colours for Ene, picking from a more vibrant colour palette (edit of Sidu's art)

I realized that her digital structures are shorter on the side closer to her mouth, so I adjusted the lines a bit

I start filling in the rest of the base colours. At the time, I wasn't whether I want to have Ene's eyes as ice blue or saturate them more…

1:44 I wanted to saturate the skin more so it'd have more contrast, but decided to keep that for later.

1:58 Added a muted gray transition colour on the hair

2:00 Started splotching colours on the sweater and skirt to get an idea of colours.

2:25 Upped the Brightness and Contrast on the skin. Played around with Posterization on the Colours.

Since Kuroha's lines were black, I decided to do the Better Line Color on Kuroha's lines again. This time I used the Bucket tool to colour the lines with a dark blue colour, clipped them, duplicated the lines and then did the Better Line Color Auto Action again.

I also did the same for Ene's lines. I set it on Multiply cuz I liked the soft look the coloured lines

2:42 - 2:51 Before I added the colours, I just had Kuroha's lines above Ene's lines folder, and then had a white layer in the middle.

I was still wondering how I'd show Ene's hand on his sleeve, but Kuroha's colours still being over hers… I was considering just putting the folder of his colours on top of hers, but HMM…

For now though, I just duplicated the lines and colours for a PNG version, then cut from that, for showing on my socials

End: Once I turned back on Kuroha's colours, I realized that I chose a really muted palette for him and a really vibrant one for Ene, so after I finished recording, I played around with the Gradient Maps and saturated the colours and eyes more.

I'll definitely coordinate their colour palettes more later. I'll do a muted version and saturated version.

A commission for @enby-hawke!

Ze asked me to draw zir Malcolm and Leandra Hawke with Leandra wearing a floral patterned filipiniana gown and Malcolm wearing a Barong Tagalog with a black to pink gradient as the Lovers card. For them I more or less focused on colours and simpler symbolism. Jonzen told me that Malcolm likes black while Leandra likes pink hence the gradient but also if you’ll notice there’s white (though greenish-white) used for both Leandra and Malcolm’s clothes which is me sneaking in wedding white in a way. Then the flowers on Leandra’s clothes have red, blue and purple which is a reference to Hawke but also in a way, Bethany and Carver seeing as Bethany is on the Diplomatic end and Carver is on the Aggressive end while there’s also pink and dark flowers for Malcolm and Leandra. Then there’s the light there at the back, it works both as a light of sorts but also it’s more of a nod to a wedding veil which would have been draped over both the bride and groom. The sampaguita flowers were apparently Leandra’s distinct scent and I love that for her (my dumbass is often scared of the scent cause i got used to associating the smell with death or creepy religious statues help) and the best part? Sampaguitas are evergreen which makes this feel like a wish that their love will never fade or wilt, even better when I used the sampaguitas for wedding bands for the two which now feels like a proper promise.

Also ngl I missed my old lining style where I colour the lineart and I did that on Leandra’s gown pattern and I was contemplating doing this again until Jonzen came forward with zir commission and it helped me do the lineart style again. I missed it so thank you so much for - in a way - helping me return to this style!

This commission was so much fun to do because of both the pose and the characters (look I rarely stan Leandra and Malcolm but they have me gripped by the throat ok) and the colours and even the patterns! It pushed me out of my comfort zone with the pattern and instead of me feeling nervous I had a lot of fun working on the floral patterns and even figuring out how I’ll pull off the sampaguita. Thanks so much for commissioning me they were such a joy to work on!!

Gods of the Sky Festival Outfits, P1! Patton and Logan, Dusk and Dawn!

This is one of the few art pieces I managed to get done during November and I’m extremely proud of it. The other two parts are still in progress and will come in due time, especially now that I’ve finished Remus and Janus’s main designs.(Their designs will be posted to the main au blog @godsoftheskyau after I post this so keep an eye out!)

I had a /lot/ of fun designing their outfits, it took me like two days worth of multiple full ipad charges to figure out just what I wanted their outfits to look like, and then another day or two to fully color them and the lineart(and draw the background). Ngl I’m in love with Logan’s outfit so much, it fought me so much and It was super satisfying seeing it all come together, so I hope you all like this piece as much as I do!!

Scourge yearning hours ❤️ (+ Jargal)

Ngl the lineart was fun but coloring in all these details literally made me want to punch a wall. But these two are cute so its okay! There was supposed to be bars separating the two but I ✨didnt want to add them✨

a small explanation of Jargal (Lucas's brother) and Muriel's relationship and its tragic end under the cut

Knows Muriel from when he was an orphan on the streets. Granted he was younger but definitely really liked him.

Gave him food and always said hi when they visited the docks. Muriel was quiet ofc but thats okay!

Maybe some feelings too? Like little kid feelings.

When Lucio takes Muriel in Jargal is actually really distraught. And is even more concerned when he finds out his new role. Immediately he becomes a guard.

The guards don't do shit to hold Muriel, esp as time goes on. But Jargal still works on getting access to Scourge and trusted enough to stay alone with him. But mostly sneaks away when no one is looking. Never approaches his cage with the helmet on.

Jargal visits almost everyday. Brings his lunch and a lunch his brother made for Scourge. Slipped it through the bars. Sure he doesn't eat it while he's there but he loves seeing the empty container later.

Does all the talking. He doesn't mind at all! Lots of quieter people in his life and knows how to hold a conversation. But gives him room to speak if he ever had chosen to speak. Comes up with nonverbal forms of communication. (“Tap the ground if you want to hear about this dream I had.”)

He has nearly walked in on a few spicy stress fucks that the Scourge has. In the event this happens he eats his lunch away from there for a while after before coming in. Never says anything about it.

After battles Jargal sometimes could sneak in and even sneak keys to get into the cell. If he couldn't sneak them Jargal would still try to do other nice things like comb the Scourge's hair or heal his wounds through the bars. (If he’d allow it. 10/10.1 its a silent no but he still offers)

Jargal attempts a plan to sneak him out (gifts him a fur with a map of the escape route on it) (steals a set of keys etc.) and promises to enact it the next day.

Family is struggling after all the recent deaths. He tries to steal some food and is caught (gets away with stealing almost all the time, this was a case of wrong place wrong time). Lucio recognizes him as the slacker guard who sneaks away and sentences him to fight the Scourge.

They fight.

It ends how you would expect. (Lucas sees this one)

some rambling under the cut~

i know creativity has been rough on many people this year what with Yknow, Everything, but ngl being furloughed for the first half of the year really emphasised how much working full-time drains me of any energy i have to create. i did so much shit!! even if i didn’t post it all, a bunch was sketches or writing and notes for stories, i just like...had the time and energy for it. mad lol. capitalism. my work hours have mostly gone back to normal at this point though so i have less of it. ah well.

as i said, i think i got better at colours this year. i’ve never been confident in colour picking and always worried that everything is too bright or clashy, but i’ve just ended up kinda...embracing that. we love eyeburn! the more the better! that’s an aesthetic that i love anyway, so i’m pretty happy to make peace with it in my own work. there’s actually a piece i did this month that is for a gift exchange so i can’t post it, but i think it really shows my growth as an artist this year, in colours and composition. can’t wait to post that!

i’ve also gotten more comfortable with lineart again. i went through a big phase of just HATING it and not being able to do it at all, but now we’re friends again. i think a lot of it has to do with the fact i Finally dug into clip studio’s downloadable brushes, so now i have about a million brushes at my disposal. there’s always something fun to try out!

as for 2021....i’d like to work on illustrating backgrounds more. more fully illustrated scenes! i’ve also always wanted to get some sort of grasp on sequential art, so i’d like to study that at some point too. never been able to wrap my head around structuring comic pages haha i think i definitely need to practice and look at some resources for it.

To be fair it’s sort of random and based on the character I have to draw/the pose/ what they’re wearing haha...........don’t be like me this is why my anatomy is often questionable - if I had to give you a model tho, do you know those wooden models for artists? the very basic ones you can get for cheap anywhere, I mostly break up my bodies following the way it’s broken down on those lil dudes!

2010. Colored pencil shit featuring my OC Cerise, back in the days where I really just did not give a shit if what I was drawing made any kind of sense. What is that outfit? Idk, I had fun.

2011. The water looks like galaxy shit bc they’re space pirates. so the water is space. do you get it? real boats don’t need anyone to steer it’s fine. The fucker in the orange and black is @fiddlezips​‘ idiot and the other dude is mine.

2012. tfw you drew Anime Cat Girl Nyaaa for the memes and it’s actually the best thing you drew that year. ngl I still dig the lighting on this one. check out that default photoshop grass brush though, that is some high brow shit.

2013. what if I used white lineart instead of black, wouldn’t that look neat? it sure would. kinda still want this lady to step on me.

2014. I’d like to say I have an explanation for this but I don’t. yes that’s the same idiot from the 2011 one, he has unfortunate staying power. he’s a. mage? who is too cool to walk now? I forget. I spent a lot of time on his makeup and you better look at it.

2015. I drew a deity from a friend’s long-running project, my good pal Tenor (whom I don’t think is on tumblr anymore but correct me if I’m wrong) and their Iotera universe. This is Bataashi, a shapeshifter who always looks incredible regardless of form, probably. v purple and sparkle.

2016. A fan character for the same project as 2015, a member of their plant-people species called Laies. Why did I do the thing with half of her hair being leaves? Because I hate myself and like to suffer is why.

2017. Again this same project, these 3 being the main characters of the comic Tenor was working on at the time. Those borders were fun in their own hellish way.

2018. I drew so fuckin little that year that this chibi (of a character belonging to @toranekohybrid​ and yet another species of Tenor’s) from ArtFight last year is the best I got. That said, I do still like the hair. I kinda wanna touch it.

2019. Hey look it’s Sailor Moon. This was the first Nice, Finished digital piece I had done in a really long time and it felt good. It’s from the beginning of this year but yknow what? It’s more than I did the year before and that matters.
