“D’you remember the lie detector? Thought that thing was gonna cut my fingers off.” Lando rambles on, not realising how much closer he just put Oscar to tripping over his own feet in front of what might as well be their entire team.

In lieu of an appropriate reaction Oscar lets his face just do what it wants. He feels, helpless, as his eyebrows raise and his eyes widen, staring staunchly at the floor because as long as he doesn’t look Lando in the eye he can still plausibly deny having had any sort of reaction to d’you remember the lie detector of all fucking things. 

Oh, does he remember the lie detector? Fucking hell. Of course he remembers the fucking lie detector. Could he ever not.

“Hmm,” he says, trying to school his voice into something that doesn’t sound suspiciously like yeah I remember how you giggled and blushed and hid your face into the crook of your elbow, I watched every single moment of it or the somehow catastrophically worse yes I’ve been jacking off to the knowledge of you having to re-buckle the straps because your monster-sized fingers wouldn’t fit into the space mine were perfectly fucking snug in, so thanks yeah I reckon I remember the lie detector.

Instead, he says, in an unfortunately conspiratorial tone, “I don’t recall it was that tight for me.” Which is somehow worse, and more revealing, than just the truth. If he’s lucky Lando won’t make the connection between Oscar remembering the lie detector and being able to fucking, compare their hand girth like an actual stalker.

“Heh, right,” Lando huffs. “You and your dainty princess hands. I’m jealous, Osc, mine are like, fucking monstrous,” he teases, mischief in his voice like he’s not just flipped Oscar’s world upside down. 

Lando shimmies both his hands out of his pockets and lifts them chest-level, demonstrating his point to Oscar. 

Inexplicably, some primal part of his brain decides that he should be listening to his mirror neurons instead of basic etiquette. He lifts his hands to match. “Yeah,” he says. 

“See? Tiny.” Lando says for emphasis, taking his other hand and craning it all the way over just to poke Oscar’s frozen-still limb. If Oscar wasn’t already used to Lando’s complete disregard of personal space, he’d think it was weird. Well he’d probably think it was weird if he could think at all right now. 

“Yeah,” he says again, pleasantly surprised that his tone is still bored levels of flat. Fucking hell. 

“Well, you know what they say about a guy’s hands…” Lando jests. He turns – to Oscar’s utter horror – to look him dead in the eye, anticipating something; Oscar’s reaction, maybe even a response. 

Oscar opens his mouth, says, voice mortifyingly rough, “right,” realises that there’s no way that’ll be enough to save either of them from social oblivion, and continues. “Big hands, big-” he fails to think rationally, “ego?”

And Lando- Lando laughs. Not a big outburst, just a cackle, of sorts. It brings the crinkle back to the corner of his eyes and snaps the tension from his shoulders. 

“Big hands, big ego!” He says. Bright like the sun, a happy little tremor in his voice. Like he’s relieved Oscar’s joke was funny.

welcome!! 🫶 for u I have a Lando I drew like ages ago that I never posted because it's part of a larger project I've mostly abandoned (specifically: the Landoscar physical differences analysis everyone and their mother was hype about. I gave up because Oscar is fucking impossible to draw and I hate legs with a passion. but I still really want to finish it ngl)

okay so for u I wanted to make a comprehensive list of every. single. time. I've done that in my... 5-ish months of drawing F1 fanart but it ended up being a more daunting task than I'd anticipated ANYWAYS here it is:

starting off with my personal favorite (and rarest) category - abstract, there's pretty much only one of these each they're very fun to cook up (and usually illegible but that's beside the point)

the left-neb arm sponsors variation is by far the most common, but sometimes I write it out fully if there's enough space

this specific style of 'Neb' is also very common, I split the category in 3 - FiA certificate, Hilton logo, and freestyle

as you can tell. I'm normal about watermarks

I also dug up this very very old compliation of watermarks which is probably uninteresting to anyone who isn't me but I'm putting it here anyways (shoutout to the ones in japanese and the hungarian runes I miss using those)

from the siren!AU aka Curiositas. for context: Lando and Oscar just met, and are out at sea™

For a moment Lando panics, realising he never told Oscar to bring any food for himself, he doesn’t even know what humans eat and oh fuck is Oscar is going to starve because of him-

“Uhm,” Oscar interrupts Lando’s spiralling thoughts “so I brought... definitely not enough canned food and a portable cooker.” Lando’s heart rate sinks back to normal. He notes how Oscar was somehow conscious enough to take preparation steps for their journey even through the haze of Lando’s spell, which is a bit strange but Lando doesn’t really know how the spell works so he files it away as convenient instead of concerning.

“I assume you can hunt for some fish, but I'll have to ask you to catch some for me when I run out if that's alright by you.”

There’s only one small problem with that, Lando stays silent for a second before replying.

“I don't like fish.”

Not only did Lando forget to make sure this guy he’s practically kidnapping wouldn’t starve to death, he’s about to give him another reason to loathe Lando. The first human he’s ever talked to will hate him just like his colony, because he’s weird and useless and-

“Whaddya mean you don't like fish? Isn't that like, what you eat? Or is that cannibalism-”

Well Lando has never heard of can-a-ball-is-him or whatever it is Oscar just said but that sounds vaguely insulting, and he can admit he’s a bit strange but he’s not about to let himself be insulted like that by someone he’s barely just met. What does Oscar know about sirens anyway?

He cuts Oscar off. “Just don't like it, okay?” His voice comes out a lot higher than he intended it to, pitch betraying the hurt behind the words, but there’s still a chance to course correct. “I'll get some.. birds or whatever.”

ouhh difficult question actually, it depends a lot on the situation I think? McLaren 1-2 is a given (considering my digital footprint obviously yk) but which one of them I'd prefer to win the race is, let's say, circumstantial, but either is good. if I had to choose I'd go Oscar P1 with Lando P2 and:

Nico Hülkenberg P3. he deserves it. god what I'd give to see him winning

66. Is there a ship you would like more people to know about?

my kneejerk answer to this is carcar, though I think it's less that people don't know about them and more that the whole hate-hate dynamic isn't necessarily for everyone (they're missing out IMO but I can't transfer the brainworms onto everyone else unfortunately). alternatively: frando/nor(a)pinto + piapinto solely because of how much of a silly factor Franco adds to the landoscar dynamic. but also BEARNELLI BEARNELLI BEARNELLI

also not be factchecking an anon hater of all people (the lows I let myself sink to...) but Lawson has 5 wins in F2, he came 3rd in the championship in his 2nd year. No he hasn't won the F2 championship but neither have uhm, any of the rookies coming in next year. Neither have Alex Albon, or Yuki Tsunoda both of who are I think pretty inarguably talented.

And guess what? Mick Schumacher and Nyck De Vries DID win their respective F2 championships, got their seat, and drowned! Winning F2 doesn't equal being good in F1, that's just not how it works, straight up. Not to mention that the previous two F2 champions aren't even in contention for a seat anytime soon, where do they place on your talent scale if I may ask?

so I'm not the best at articulating this kind of thing BUT I do have quite the sizeable (but non-exhaustive) list of creators whose works are plastered to the inside of my skull for the rest of time. I can only recommend checking out their works <3

@dumbf1sketches where do I even start honestly. incredibly clean and downright edible style, mastery of anatomy I can only wish to have one day. I think about the way you draw hair often and with great enjoyment

@roosterhouse huge brained concepts and gorgeous technical drawings. I am allergic to drawing detail so it always blows my mind how well thought-out your art is, on top of being silly and so so gorgeous

@cickyart is an outlier on this list (not an F1 artist) but has been one of my all time favorite creators for quite some time now. forever amazed at and inspired by the gorgeous, breathtaking, absolutely jawdropping colours and texture

@lyslsstuff you pretty much picked me up like a baby bird and told me I could fly in my early days of tumblr-ing, it's been so much fun working on the dbh au together and just getting to know you in general <3 not to mention I adore your art, the colours and rendering and overall effect is always SO cool

☔️ Is there a fic concept you have that you'd like to just explain and share because you're not sure you'll ever write it? If so, what is it? from this ask game

okay this is a bit of a tricky one because I generally have many -- if not too many -- ideas just at all times. the main ones on the backburner atm are:

putting Ghost and Soap (from the Hit War Simulator Franchise Call of Duty: Modern Warfare) into F1 cars and making them go through the Horrors. partly because circumstance and Sr. Riley's A+ Parenting but mostly because of each other. I hate them. I miss them so bad. I have SO much angst planned for this AU and the prospects of getting characters from an entirely different (but still somehow kinda similar?) genre and like, translating their backstories to fit into a racing setting is SO interesting to me.

the big issue is that a) I wrote the plot draft when I was basically just getting into F1, I'd really want to work it over step by step now that I have more setting-specific knowledge and b) it would probably end up really fucking long and I'm not brave enough to start on it :(

the 2nd idea just collecting dust atm is a lot more. abstract atm? the main concept is to take Lando and Oscar and slap them into a world I came up with (and got so attached to) for an OC comic I want(ed) to make. it would be a sorta sci-fi post-apocalyptic setting, with a lot of Nerding Out about biology and the concept of bioluminescence (PLEASE look it up if you've never heard that word) and just like hand-wavey science slash magic things (not in the classical magic sense tho. more like a body horror sense.)

main issue is: I already HAVE a story I'd like to write for that universe, with the characters and their plotlines like intertwining with the setting and that's. a lot of (uneccesary?) effort to translate to other people/characters with different fandom-established motifs and personalites etc etc etc. but it would be a good excuse for me to write something in that universe again because MAN do I miss it. and the stories of my characters is... somewhat translateable to Landoscar. but in a lot of ways Really Not. happens when the plot is character driven innit 👍 big ol' maybe to this idea

They have constantly made that same pit strategy and it keeps causing unnecessary problems for their drivers. It accumulated in the big mess up on Sunday but there are several times they have pitted Oscar first when Lando is ahead too and it only leads to team order messiness. I don’t understand what goes through their heads but the biggest fallback this season has been their questionable and indecisive in-race strategy calls. The team needs to get it together or they will never successfully challenge for the championship. After Hungary it seems clear they are more concerned with the constructors championship than the WDC but imo that’s kind of a slap in the face to Lando. I am very unimpressed with the team lately. I feel like they keep letting Oscar and Lando down. It making feel discouraged like I want to stop watching. Which is sad cause I just want to see them do well.

well fucking said. in silverstone as well they SO could've won that race if it wasn't for the shit pitstop strategy. personally I'm hopeful that the win in hungary wasn't a one-off and that they actually did learn something from previous mistakes. I hope the same will apply to this mistake (if it doesn't and they truly have no idea how to handle two drivers capable of winning then we're actually fucked but I prefer not to think about that)

soz I took a while to answer this I may have overplanned a little (plus been busy)

edit: completely forgot to mark the oscar-mark family thing you're just gonna have to imagine it's there

the casually enjoy section is for pairings I wouldn't neccessarily read about but go "teehee" at when I see them on my dash or in the bg of a fic

"interference" are ships that involve someone from one my main ships (as much as being a multishipper would be way more convenient in this fandom my brain simply cannot bear to see my sillies separated)

which has the consequence that I have a separate line (cyan triangle) for carlandoscar and (purple line) for carlando

also attached like main + side versions for readability below the cut because jesus chrsit this got out of hand
