BESTIES X CHRISTMAS
röter aka rosa and jupiter kavery aka alexej and lunas sily aka silas and brandy
A/N: Your wish is my command XD (I thought I'd bring on the Christmas vibes a bit more.) But seriously, I’m so glad we stumbled upon each other and get to create stories and characters together! It wouldn’t have been the same without you! And I so appreciate our little discord talks ♡

I love your comics—they always make me smile & your art style is so charming. I adore it! Reminds me so much of Charles Addams' art style in the original "The Addams Family" comics.
I guess since this is a question form: who would each of your characters be in "The Addams Family"? Like, "This HP character is most like this Addams Family member" or "This HP character is definitely a long-lost cousin" if that makes sense 🙂
P.S. Congrats on the Tokyo Warner Bros Studio Tour tickets. I hope you enjoy it! You deserve it.
AHH HELLO! THANK YOU FOR THIS COMPLIMENT! I LOVE VINTAGE CARTOONS! I’m serious — before I started doing cartoons, I was doing Rockwell and fashion design haha! I LOVE VINTAGE ART AHH. But cartoons are another beast entirely because you need to really create the character’s appearance. So I have A LOT of respect to those veteran cartoonists here- I’m still a newbie 🥺🥺
I’m not too well-versed in the Addams family lore to give you a detailed answer, but I’ll try my best. Let me tell you this: Morticia and Gomez? Narcissa and Lucius. I did NOT STUTTER. Anyone disagree? That’s what I thought. Wednesday reminds me of Draco’s unhinged side (throwing people out of the window and casually putting people he hates on his father’s hit list) and hats off to the loyal Thing: Nietzsche. Oddly, though, Draco is a mix of the two Addams children. Innocent and naive, but unnervingly diabolical. I might think of more resemblances later, and it’ll haunt me that I haven’t thought of it now. I hope I answered your question! And thank you—could you imagine living a train ride away from a Harry Potter studio tour and not going?? Finally, it’s my TURN. 💕🚂🏃‍♀️

tfw some random girlie with a literal tree for hair is now freeloading on ur galaxy-traversing magical train and demanding all the cake in the universe, what do u do
(aka it took ten million years but i finally drew how tonitoni looks in her honkie verse.................................... !!!!!!🥳🥳🥳
technically this is supposed to be more like a draft of how her design should be - aka i might tweak or change things still - but i quite like what i have for her right now, so hopefully, no changes will be happening any time soon anyway)
super funsies drawing notesies:
the scribbles, from top to left then right bottom - appearance design, hypothetical splash art (though it's mostly just a nonsense doodle), hypothetical battle screen visualization (again mostly just a nonsense doodle though)
her outfit is meant primarily scream "summer vacaaaaaay!!" vibes in the overall fit and colors, with a touch of silvery-blue-gold flowers (ie Irminsul/Imaginary Tree) and stars (which is seen in the semi-speckled nature of the otherwise floral patterns + in the glitter of the sheer fabric) - she also has a bit of her original Harbinger/Teyvat origins via her mask and Delusion still being very visibly carried on her person.
for her hypothetical splash art: -She's meant to be sitting on a sandy beach; -Her tree connections are metaphorically and fantastically visualized into a halo that spirals upwards, though some of its blooms and leaves fall from it and disappear into the sand and waves; -The sand would have half-buried seashells and marbles depicting entire solar systems and galaxies, representing lost/dead/distant worlds thanks for the inspiration vita; -The ocean itself would be very dark and somewhat starry; this is meant to represent space but also the sea of quanta; -TBH i started doodling this just bc i thought "i want a tonitoni with a halo" and somehow it turned into me trying to figure out how to paint water at 12am
for her hypothetical fighty time: -Honestly i dont see tonitoni as a playable unit at all so this was really just me doodling for the hell of it; -Still i thought itd be funny to imagine tonitoni needing to fight but she would be super grumbly about it bc this is her vacay!!!!!!!! why is she exerting effort like this!!!!!!!!!!!!; -But anyway if she ever got into a fight, she'd just pull out her signature weapon (that i still havent finalized the design of....... god designing is hard) from hammer space and go to town i guess -Also if you haven't realised yet, that portrait and hp and everything is a complete joke. 69 energy? really? 4444 hp? lmaooooo -Though whether her ult. would actually be anything Fatui-related to use the Fatui symbol................... well that's a fun thonk so i threw it in but otherwise who knows lmao

T!, Jealousy, Deals with Trauma, They both top at some pointron is a good friend, Draco is a Good Cook, Dubious Consent due to the Accidental Bonding, The actual SLOWEST burn, Hurt/Comfort, Have I mentioned UST? Malfoy finds a coin. Harry finds a letter.
A story about histories, a story about families. A story about a lemon tree somewhere in Upper Egypt.
I- hmm. I don’t have words for this fic. It’s like staring at a sunset, tears streaning down your face and asked if you think it’s pretty. Anything you say about it couldn’t do it any justice. Read it. Enjoy the sunset. It’s the best you’re going to see.
Enjoying Yourself, Potter? - DragonGirl87
(10,352 / 1 chapter / Explicit)
Tags: Fluff and Smut, Shameless Smut, PWP without Porn, Surprise Ending
Malfoy walks in on Harry in the showers. Harry can’t seem to forget Malfoy’s face and most definitely not the three haunting words Malfoy uttered… – “Enjoying yourself, Potter?”
Would it really be one of my fic rec lists if there wasn’t a pure filth fanfic? I think not.
Any Instrument - dicta_contrion
(131,102 words / 22 chapters / Explicit)
Tags: HP: EWE, Post-Deathly Hallows, Slow Build, Mystery, Politics, Angst, mental health, Disability, Disability Management, Coming Out, Awkward First Times, Wandlore, Elder Wandlong walks, Magic, Kittens, Happy Ending
Draco Malfoy wouldn't go back to England for anything less than an exceptional case. Being asked to figure out why Harry Potter can't control his magic might be exceptional enough to qualify.
There is just somthin about Draco in this fic that slaps so hard. You know you’ll come to realise that I either recommend a filthy short smut or a very long slow burn fic that fucking destroys you and makes you believe in love at the same time. This fic is no different. Actually this fic is both. Doctor!Draco, intensive reaserch on wandlore (I’m pretty sure the author knows more the Ollivander), Harry being the people pleaser fuck that he is, Goyle is kinda baby?, 10/10 fic
Running on Air - eleventy7
(74,875 words / 17 chapters / Teen and Up)
Tags: Mystery, Drama, Friendship, Slow Burn, Romance
Draco Malfoy has been missing for three years. Harry is assigned the cold case and finds himself slowly falling in love with the memories he collects.
Oh my god. I’ve never read something so beautifully written in my entire life. The verse of this made me want to cry. I sent quote after quote to both my girlfriend and my bestfriend. I just needed them both to hear the beautiful things I was reading. It was so wonderful. I wish I could forget the fic so I could experience it again.
Never Grow A Wishbone - ShanaStoryteller
(123,690 words / 25 chapters / Teen and Up)
Tags: Post War, professor!draco, Professor!Harry, Draco pov, Slytherins Aren't Evil, War is Complicated, Language is cultural, Slow Build, No character bashing, Unreliable Narrator, VERY UNRELIABLE NARRATOR, HP: EWE, Monthly updates, Politics, mostly politics a little everything else, which isn't what i intended but it's what we got, realistic politics, or more realistic than fic usually has, which fills a lot of people with anger i guess
She almost smiles, and true alarm starts to build in his chest. “I’m afraid I’m not here for something so small. Professor Roberts has resigned.”
“Good,” Draco says honestly, “Would you like a list of suitable alternatives? I know a number of competent potions masters abroad, but then of course you’d have to hire another teacher to act as the Slytherin head. I’m afraid you’ve dried up all the half decent Slytherin Potions masters.”
“Not all of them,” she says quietly.
He blinks. She can’t be serious. “You can’t be serious.”
“Gravely,” she says, “Mr. Malfoy, I am not above begging.”
What the bloody fuck. “I don’t even like potions!”
~
Draco returns to Hogwarts.
He has a duty to his blood and his name and his house, and he will fulfill it.
This fic was insane to read. I remember texting my friends that it made my brain hurt. I feel like this fic is canon and it has effected every other piece of Harry Potter media I’ve consumed. Draco is being a pureblood and I agreed with him???? Fanfic made me a death eater??? This fic goes so hard for no reason and it’s a delight and a mind fuck. ShanaStoryteller out here making Harry Potter make more damn sense.
Tea and No Sympathy - who_la_hoop
(70,045 words / 11 chapters / Explicit)
Tags: Slow Build, Draco-centric, Tea Drinking, Swearing, Muggle London, Houses of Parliament, Malfoy Manor, flangst, Family Feels, Muggle/Wizard Relations, Coming Out, Heartfelt Conversations, Sarcastic Conversations, Owls, Competitive Card Games, Falling In Love, getting drunk, Enthusiastic Snogging, Hogwarts Castle, Sex In The Slytherin Dormitory, Frottage, Time Travel, Time Loop, HP: EWE
It's Potter's fault, of course, that Draco finds himself trapped in the same twenty-four-hour period, repeating itself over and over again. It's been nearly a year since the unpleasant business at Hogwarts, and Draco's getting on with his life quite nicely, thank you, until Harry sodding Potter steps in and ruins it all, just like always. At first, though, the time loop seems liberating. For the first time in his life, he can do anything, say anything, be anything, without consequence. But the more Draco repeats the day, the more he realises the uncomfortable truth: he's falling head over heels for the speccy git. And suddenly, the time loop feels like a trap. For how can he ever get Harry to love him back when time is, quite literally, against him?
Baby gorls!! My secret third favorite fanfic trope other then soulmate au and slow burn is TIME LOOP FICS. Draco having to come to terms with being a prick to my boy Harry while falling in love and also being an enigma in time???? Sign me the fuck uppp

Thanks for the tag @metalomagnetic 🖤💛
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
72
2. What's your total A03 words count?
1,234,338
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Whatever I feel like at the moment, but lately my interest has centered on MDZS/CQL. I also love Tolkien, Grisha verse, Austen novels, and Harry Potter.
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
An Inconvenient Path (Severitus and Snape/Voldemort) Not bright or noble, but almost sublime (Severus/Sirius raise Harry) The Secret of the Philosopher's Stone (Snape/Voldemort) Voyager, Healer, Survivor (Snape/Voldemort/Harry) Through Peril and Fire (Sauron/Galadriel)
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
I used to reply to every single one, until this summer. I realized it took a lot of energy that could be used on writing instead... but I have vague ambitions of going back and replying to all of them.
6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Oh, I don't really write angsty endings. Perhaps the short Severus/Bellatrix fic, Lilith. Nothing good going on there, unless you're Bellatrix.
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Almost all my fics have happy endings! Not bright or noble, but almost sublime gets the prize for the happiest unearned ending, I guess.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Yes, that is why guest comments are off for every fic I post.
9. Do you write smut? If so what kind?
Yes. All kinds, I like vanilla and kink, happy sex and angsty sex, dubcon and noncon, slash and femslash and poly... all kinds!
10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?
No, unless you count crossovers in fandoms with shared lore (Disney universe or Austen canons).
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Define stolen? Someone trying to pass my work off as theirs - not that I know of. Someone copying my work to another website without permission - yes.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Yes.
13. Have you ever cowritten a fic before?
Yes!! @maraudersaffair I know we need to work on this one lmao
14. What's your all-time favourite ship?
Oh, wow. Um. I can't pick. I love Snape/Sirius and Snape/Voldemort in Harry Potter, Sauron/Celebrimbor in Tolkien, the Darkling/Nikolai in Grishaverse, and I'm recently on a Wen Xu/Lan Xichen kick in MDZS (yeah, actually for real on that last one).
15. What's a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?
I haven't posted anything to ao3 I have doubts about finishing. And if something isn't on ao3, I don't feel that strongly about it getting finished or not.
16. What are your writing strengths?
Being straightforward, I think. I am not good at flowery prose, but I think that's fine.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Varying how straightforward I am about writing, lol. Sometimes variance is nice.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
I love it very much when it's well done - when the meaning is clear and the reader has learned something or you're expressing a nuance not available in the primary language you're writing in.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Lord of the Rings, way back in the day
20. Favourite fic you've ever written?
This changes day by day, but right now I'm excessively fond of Rainbow of Chaos, a massive LotR trilogy rewrite centering on Sauron and inspired heavily by Rings of Power.
Tagging: I saw this make the rounds and I'm pretty sure my HP mutuals who want to have done this, but tagging you if you haven't. for other fandoms... @scriberated @demonscantgothere @myfavouritelunatic @storm-elf @for-want-of-a-nail @esssteee @cilil @thescrapwitch but no pressure!

I currently have 258 works on my emeraldlove account. Give or take xxxx on another account and unrevealed works. I write a lot of drabbles. 😅
2. What’s your total AO3 word count?
184k on my main account! Which woah. Given how many (*coughs* all *coughs*) of my works are really short.
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Harry Potter - J. K. Rowling (166)
SK8 the Infinity (Anime) (55)
Thor (Movies) (13)
Marvel Cinematic Universe (12)
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (Movies) (10)

Call Me by Your Name - André Aciman (1)
Call Me By Your Name - All Media Types (1)
ばらかもん | Barakamon (1)
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
"I'm in. I'm all in." [Harry Potter, Snarry, 8.4k, Rated M]
The Pocket Watch [Fantastic Beasts, Gramander, 2.4k, Rated G]
Colours [Harry Potter, Snarry, 2.2k, Rated E]
Cups of Tea [Fantastic Beasts, Gramander, 1.7k, Rated G]
Sandalwood [Harry Potter, Snarry, 1.6k, Rated M]
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
You bet! I love getting comments, especially on older fics. Usually people don't comment on drabbles or don't comment in certain fandoms, and receiving comments on those fics make me feel like I made it. lol
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
I'm not sure! I guess I'll go with 'He waits.' [Harry Potter, Snarry, 300 words, Rated M]. It's an expansion on a microfic I wrote for Microfic May. Infidelity + First Person.
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
All of my fluff fics! I've written tons. But I guess I'll say my most recent fest fic -- Invisible String [Harry Potter, Snarry, 3.7k, Rated G].
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Once or twice. Then I turned off guest comments. If people want to leave hate, they need to be logged in so I can block them. 😈 YKINMKBYKIO, DLDR and SALS, people! I do occasionally get weird comments. They get deleted, too.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Not usually. I'm more of a G-T rated girl, cause apparently if I write smut, I'll go dark. [Link leads to my HP Kinktober works. Mind the tags!]
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?
Not yet! But I did write fusion fics/inspired/AU fics before.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
I write drabbles. I don't think people will steal those. Right? 🥺 [Please, don't steal. 🙏]
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Nope!
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
I've written fics that has art, but I've never co-written a fic before. I feel like I'll be too controlling or I'll be MIA. There's no in-between. 🤣
14. What’s your all time favourite ship?
Thorki, my love! I'm still waiting on the sun to shine on them again. BUT WHEN, MARVEL? WHEN? You might not think it's Thorki given how little I've written for the ship, but I'm Mr. Knightley. If I loved [them] less, I might be able to talk about [them] more.
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
Restoration [Harry Potter, Snarry, Rated M]! My only WIP fic. One day! And I guess my Interacting with Unusual Creatures series [Fantastic Beasts, Gramander, Rated G]. It's suppose to be a 5+1 Things fic. There are only two moments. 🤣
16. What are your writing strengths?
Packing a (emotional) punch in as little words as possible. Did I mention I write drabbles? lol
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Writing anything longer than 2k. It's always a *struggle*. Don't come to my AO3 account looking for a 100k plot-heavy fic. You'll be mighty disappointed.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
You do you!
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Teen Titans (the Cartoon Network series) and the X Files. You will never see them. Ever. 🤣
20. Favourite fic you’ve written?
I don't have an absolute fav. I have been thinking lately about a coffeeshop AU fic I written --- Warmth [Harry Potter, Snarry, 1k, Rated G]. I might write a sequel for that.
Tagging (no pressure): @danpuff-ao3 @liladiurne @trueliarose @ashariewrites @likelightinglass

Started a solo run of Baldur’s Gate 3. Was playing with friends but wasn’t getting a good feel for the companion characters and after seeing just how unhinged the internet is for these characters, I decided I needed to judge for myself. And it was decided over voice chat that the only proper way of judging everyone’s favorite blorbos was to play the acest character I have, so without further ado
Baldur’s Gate 3: sexless any%. Get through the entire game making friends and fucking no one.
A little under 4 hours in and here’s the initial judgment.
Shadowheart: Thank god this girl’s a cleric because a few piddly heals is all she’s contributed so far. I don’t think I’ve ever seen her land a cantrip on an enemy. She has like 10 dialog options right out the gate and like 9 of them come off as weirdly flirty. Ever since KOTOR pushed Bastilla so hard I’ve taken an instant dislike to the obviously canon female love interest characters. Don’t think that’s what’s going on here because this is the game where you can romance literally everyone but it do come off that way. 2/10 might have an interesting backstory, if I’m allowed to know it without being a creep.
Gale: Unfortunately I decided to play a sorcerer so Gale and my character have a lot of overlap combat-wise. So I don’t foresee Gale getting a lot of use after I recruit a character with a decent HP stat. Character-wise he’s a charmer that the game is heavily implying is hiding something and I’ll admit I do like these types of characters. 5/10 downplaying his score because I know he’s one of tumblr’s favorites.
Astarion: considering the only way I know how to play rogues is to beg the DM every encounter that this DEFINITELY counts as a sneak attack, I'm kind of surprised Astarion's been my best character so far. I guess the bar is keeping a consistent 70% hit rate. At first I thought I missed some vital dialog because all attempts to talk to him were met with a cold shoulder but I guess his character development gets kick started in a cutscene where he tries to feed on you at night. And look. If you require genitalia to be involved for it to count as sex then sure. Sexless any% has not been broken. But I am versed enough in vampire lore to know that when he goes down on your carotid artery after begging for just the sip and asks how you're feeling in the morning, you fucked. ?/10 it's complicated calling an emotional abuse hotline.

Alright, discovering your meta after YEARS outta the loop with the HP-verse, please forgive my ignorance. I'm curious why there's so much interest in Lily and Regulus being friends? I just don't get it. A lot of your reasoning of them being from families with the same sibling structure makes sense but that could be applied to a Lily and Sirius friendship as well but there doesn't seem to be much interest in that pairing. It makes more sense to me that Lily and Sirius would eventually bond over not being especially close to their respective siblings--evidence that they were friends is the letter found in Grimmauld by Harry, and there's no blood supremacy down that path as there would be with Regulus. It just seems like Lily's ideological friction with Snape would be repeated with Regulus and wouldn't necessarily beget more growth from either character. So please, help me understand as a long lost HP reader, what I'm missing. Thank you!
Hi! No need to apologise, I'm fairly out of the loop HP-wise because I generally stick to circles of things I like - so I'm very interested and quite surprised to hear that there's a lot of interest in Lily and Regulus as friends?? I filter out James/Lily, James/Regulus and Sirius/Remus so if it ties into any of those (I mean I know jegulily is a thing which is why I filter the first two when I'm looking for regulily) then I just won't have come across it because that's not my angle.
Firstly, I would say don’t worry about not getting it. The HP world is huge and the fandom is huge so there’s a niche for like, everyone. I pretty much exclusively revolve within Marauder era stuff and there’s still so much within that sphere that I don’t get and don’t like. A lot of it is about filling in gaps and looking at potential rather than anything concrete and that 100% goes for Regulus and Lily interacting. It’s the potential for it to go either way and it’s a new perspective to “test” these two characters through while being plausible enough because they have people in common and were around at the same time.
Lily/Regulus is speculative whereas Lily & Sirius is a friendship we know existed positively, so I completely agree that Lily and Sirius would talk about their families and their siblings. I do think it's interesting that Sirius barely talks about Lily even though we have that letter from Lily to Sirius, and I also wonder quite how close they were. I think it’s assumed often that they were very close, and I absolutely think that Lily and Sirius liked each other and respected each other but I don't know if we have enough to completely persuade me that they would be close friends without James as a link. One of the main motives of Lily’s letter is come and see James he misses you. But I’m not refuting that they were friends or close or anything, I think it’s interesting to wonder where exactly their friendship falls as it always used to be written as exclusively very very positive.
From what I remember of gen marauders fandom, especially jily fandom, Sirius & Lily was fairly common and Sirius was "Jily's biggest shipper" or whatever, when really I don't think Sirius actually gave a shit lmao. He doesn’t care at all when Lily rejects James in SWM. I don’t think Sirius would emotionally invest himself in any potential relationships, especially on behalf of the person who isn’t James lmao. Also I remember a lot of fics where Sirius gave James shit for treating Lily badly (by like having another girlfriend because lily told him to fuck off again and he was supposed to know that she secretly liked him, idk jily is not my bag) or something when actually Sirius was James' biggest enabler, thanks.
Again I don’t know how much of lily&regulus and lily&sirius is actually around these days but I’d guess that if there is more lily/regulus, it's because there's no tension with Sirius and Lily so there’s less room for speculation whereas with Lily and Regulus there would definitely be tension and friction, and there are lots of gaps to be filled, more room to explore without being entirely disconnected from the characters and world that are familiar to us.
I think maybe Lily/Regulus occupies the space between Lily & Snape's friendship and Lily & Sirius', if that makes sense? They both provide the basis for Lily tolerating Regulus, as a less than morally sound person. I can’t remember if I mentioned it in the other ask about Lily/Regulus but Lily has a pattern of tolerating “horrible boys” (James, Snape, Sirius) and overlooking things where she wants to so I don’t think she’s as black and white as to completely dismiss Regulus straight off, she almost seems to do it on a case by case basis so she is susceptible to bias (talked about it a bit here).
The ideological friction is a huge part of the pairing, and again I think because the friction isn't there with Sirius but it's very much there with Snape, Regulus provides a kind of middle-ground where Lily's reaction can be explored. We know enough about both characters to speculate without being prescriptive, there's room to play, room to explore, but there's recognition there. Lily could go either way with Regulus - her relationship with Sirius could play a part in her treatment of him, is she sympathetic because it's her friend's younger brother, or does she see him in the same way she sees Snape? Does her sympathy with Regulus create tension in her friendship with Sirius? Lots of potential, if potential and character dynamics and character studies are things you’re interested in (which I am, so they work fantastically for me).
We have Regulus  whose turnaround with Voldemort and the Death Eaters is very short (so is Snape's, really, he was only 21 when he changed sides) but we don't see Regulus' allegiance to Voldemort in detail whereas we do get unsavoury aspects of Snape in detail which maybe just makes Regulus more palateable. We see a pretty conclusive end to lily and snape, it’s a situation she’s tired of, she’s voiced her concerns and things don’t change, so I think there’s a lack of respect element to that more than just ideological, it’s personal as well. Whereas Lily and Regulus don’t have that history and often by the time they interact Regulus is “redeemed” so she doesn’t have to fight with an ongoing ideological difference, more a historical one and whether she can really trust that he has changed (full accountability for the teenage death eater tho, pls, I don’t vibe with a forced into it Regulus but I do vibe with the small reasons that built up to him making the decision to join that weren’t purely admiration of Voldemort). But also there are a lot of muggle regulus/lily things which are based on their characters rather than the canon plot.
I don't think there's much more I can say without repeating my previous post about Lily & Regulus - it's the potential, more than exact details. I like both characters individually which is why I'm drawn to them together, plus they're both linked closely with james&sirius who are my favs always, but I'd say most lily/regulus enjoyers I've seen are more commonly from the snape side of things?
But I'm very intrigued by the fandom norms around this - what is the lily/regulus goss? Has Sirius & Lily as background besties dropped off? lmk because i stay in my j/s circle and i make liberal use of filters and blacklists so I know nothing about wider fandom (probably for the greater good of everyone else on the internet).

last fight for Gladion!
Crobat be his lead. Nuzzle it, switch to Cery, Crobat got wings. Cinnabar to come out, and... he switches into Lucario? don't see the game do that often. and it's easy to see why, that's uh. that's a sweep from there.
all right, jump right back in. Cinnabar lead, this is mostly a test for the Lucario... seems like it's gonna be 149 speed? faster than all but one, so... i think i have a Chople Berry... yep yep, put that on Vermilion. while i'm here, give Cerulean a Soft Sand, i think this'll do now.
third verse, same Cinnabar start, aaaand he doesn't switch out his Crobat this time. i spent too long trying to make it work, but calling it early.
fourth up. lets try a Viridian lead for Cotton Spore. she can get some good hits in before going down, NOW Cinnabar, Spore- he switches into Lucario now. i got no mementum to switch, so... Energy Balls until KO. Vermilion can come out and Nuzzle it comfortably with a Chople berry. 30 HP left still, good lord, Struggle Bug and no para. Cerulean to come out and EQ it... no KO, no para, but Cerulean does live the Aura Sphere here! and it can Quick Attack for the KO too. no paras at all, unlucky. Saffron can come out, and her Earth Power can finish it off for the first time, but the team is on its last legs.
Silvally, too, outspeeds the Smeargle left, and it's new fire Multi-Attack overpowers whatever is left. dang. Gladion's tougher than i expected. his AI is actually good too, so this is particularly rough. i think... unfortunately, no, i don't think my Smeargle, as they are now, can take him on actually. this is what Lusy could've done to me if her Bewear didn't have Pain Split. if he led with the Lucario, this'd be doable. if he switched in Lucario on Viridian, not Cinnabar, this'd be doable, but i think it's just a little not in my favour to win.
a disappointing spot to end tonight on, especially when i only need to grind, you know, three or so levels for half the Smeargle anyways for a reasonable re-evaluation, if Vermi was level 61 instead of 58, this could be different. oh well i guess. more grinding the axes known as Smeargles for me. my laptop got some updates to restart over, i don't want it to do that during fest and all. speaking of, have a good fest this weekend, y'all!

☭ - Danny and Tarhos 👀
Send ☭ x for a vs. battle quote to your muse DEAD BY DAYLIGHT VERSE ═══ DANNY ═══
Battle Intro: "Ohhh, you want to play this game?" Robin snickers as he slips on his own mask, smiling under it as he remarks Danny's outfit, flicking out his knife with a chuckle, "Okay psycho killer, I'll do my best, let's see which one us will end up in next week's headline." He croons before relaxing into a defensive position.
Victory: As he removes the knife from Danny's chest, he lowers him into his arms before sinking to his knees with Danny in his embrace. Robin holds him in his lap and brushes his mask with a smile before he brings Danny's hand up to his lips to kiss his palm affectionately, "Sorry, but I know you'll be back, I'll see you at home, my love."
Half HP: Robin whips around after being injured, barely able to catch Danny in his new hiding spot before he flicks the blade in his hand. The doctor brings his sleeve up to wipe at his bloody nose, "I saw where you went, Ghostie, you'll have to be quicker on your feet if you want to beat me." Although that last blow did take quite a bit out of him, and he wobbles a little.
Low HP: "Agh...you're having a good time I take it, now that you have the upper hand." Robin huffs, smiling down as he tries to compose himself, "I suppose I did ask for this from you, make me into a good headline, if you can." He croons, taunting all the way.
Death: He doesn't struggle much as the finishing blow is casted and he collapses into Danny's arms, being turned in order to gaze up into the mask, his own falling from his face. Robin notices how Danny doesn't take out his camera, and lifts his hand to caress the mask. "I'll...see you back at home..remember? You can't..actually kill me, Danny.."
Assist: "HEY!" Robin rushes in to knock the survivor over, who had gotten cheeky enough to try and use a loose pipe against them within the trial. After downing them he picks up the pipe and turns it in his hand, smiling down to them before swirling his gaze to Danny, "Want me to paint you a pretty picture with this, love?"
Taunt: "Oh, can I be the helpless victim? Oh no no, please don't kill me Mr Ghostface, I want to be in the sequel!"
Reacting to Taunt: [ Robin -> Danny ] "Ohhh someone's clever, come on dear I know you can do better than that in trying to tease me."
Flee: "Oh....damn! The generator south of here, that's where they must be, you finish this one, I'll get the others." Robin shoots Danny a wink as he turns tail to chase after the last 2 survivors, "Come on out, little ones!"
Reacting to Flee: "Danny--? I don't necessarily think we have time to be playing hide and seek!" Robin shouts after him before he sighs with an eyeroll, stalking after the killer.
Tie: "Oh no, we're redoing this, I KNOW I had one more kill than you!" Robin puts his hands on his hips with a smile, "I guess we'll have to fiip a coin for who's doing what chores once we get home." His smile shifts into a lazy smirk as he pulls out a coin, "Heads or tails?"
Perfect Victory: Robin froze as the lights turned off, closing his eyes to listen for the sound of Danny's footsteps, light and perfect for stalking, only the doctor knew him far too well, turning just in time to knock Danny onto his ass. Robin gently stepped on his chest and shrugged, "You really need to work on that, my dear. Here, want to try again?"
Low HP Victory: "Ah...love, you really went all out, my back." Robin grunts as he slips down onto his knees, sitting back on his feet as he gazes over to his smacked up boyfriend. A small laugh left him and he laid on his side, "Ow..."
Finishing Move: Robin seems to fade into the shadows, fluttering about silently as he appeared behind the Ghostface, his hand grabbing his face to introduce spors and miasma. Once he gets Danny down, he sits down on his stomach and swirls his knife in his palm, leaning down so the noses of their masks touch. "I win, you're doing the dishes."
Tumblr media
TARHOS
Battle Intro: Robin seems unimpressed as Tarhos approaches him, folding his arms over his chest, "I'm a little confused at why you wanted to do this, Tarhos...it hardly seems like a fair fight, and I don't want to hurt you."
Victory: "There...Now that you've gotten that out of your system, what is this about Tarhos?" Robin folded his arms as he kept his heel firmly on the Knight's chest, although he was sure if Tarhos stood up he'd fall over.
Half HP: "OUCH--" Robin jumps away from the knight and holds his arm, glowering over to the man and taking a deep breath. "You know, this does not seem like a very fair match, don't you have any sense of equity? Surely you can see how you're impossible to beat!" He dodges another hit, eyes wide and sharp.
Low HP: Robin feels his world spinning as he collapses down onto his knees to pull his gaze upwards towards Tarhos, vision focusing on the blade within the man's hand. Despite all of the blood spilling from him, he shakily stands once more, holding his knife, although his voice is quite shaky as he asks, "Why?"
Death: The last swing of the sword is enough to cause him to fall at Tarhos' feet, lifting his hand upwards towards the Knight as his mask slid from his face, showing tears. "I-I don't understand....why would you..." He feels himself growing weak, seeing black stars litter his vision, "I...I thought we.."
Assist: A knife flies past Tarhos' head to bury itself into the back of a survivor who had managed to get away, and Robin smiles. He snickers as he passes Tarhos, "I'll finish this one, there are others."
Taunt: "This is your favorite activity? I really think you need to pick up a hobby, Tarhos, maybe crocheting? It involves sharp needles, you might like that."
Reacting to Taunt: [ Robin -> Tarhos] "I think you're trying to say something intelligent, but it is extremely hard to hear you in that helmet."
Flee: "I think I hear Ji-Woon trying to be the center of attention again, I'll have to come back to finish this sparring match." Off he goes to annoy the star.
Reacting to Flee: "Tarhos? You're running away?! You can't preach everything you do and then become a coward yourself! Get back here!" Before he chases after.
Tie: Robin managed to get his helmet off, holding the knife over his eye as Tarhos' blade kisses his throat, a smile curling onto his lips. "I guess this is going to end in a blood bath, Tarhos, don't worry--I'll make it quick."
Perfect Victory: Robin had no idea how it happened, how he ended up holding Tarhos' sword with him on the ground under him, at his own mercy. He lets the tip of the blade run against the man's jugular but doesn't cut into him, not yet...part of him wanted to savor this, having bested someone much stronger than himself. "Take off your helmet...I want to watch the light go out."
Low HP Victory: Blood poured out of him as he gasped in agony, keeping himself steady and raised up despite the pain shooting through his legs. He looks down at Tarhos, huffing, "Y-You let me win..?"
Finishing Move: He doesn't know what possesses him when he blocks the sword with his shiv, finding the strength to redirect the hit downward before knocking his elbow into Tarhos' helmet so hard it reverberates around his skull. He kicks him square in the chest before rounding up a final strike to dig the blade in a crevice of his armor connecting his helm and shoulders. "I'll see you later, Tarhos, I hope your rest is peaceful."

Ok, I'd been stalling on this, but I have three characters to give you. Kind of. Two literally I got nothing more than what I'm about to type, so if you want to ask a question it probably needs to be about the third one, sorry.
First, the chef. Originally conceived off-hand from a question on something somewhere. Just a guy who travels the multiverse, seeking new flavours, not getting involved in any plot. Like Saheeli before she joined the West Coast Gatewatch.
Given that motivation, he has to be red. In that comment I argued the second colour could be blue, black or green, depending on if his secondary motivation was "what can i do", "how can i improve" or "what is there to be found", respectively. On second thought, though, this guy probably has to deal in Food, and more generally lifegain, so no blue unless he were tri-colour.
So I pick black. The red is about discovery so it ends up as a life-gain/impulse draw mashup. Rakdos Control, anyone?
Second, an Angel. For lore reasons, it would have to be a Human who became an Angel after igniting her spark. I like the idea that she heard about Ob Nixilis, sought info of how he achieved that, and then had the same procedure done on herself, but angelic.
Also, her gimmick is that she can only planeswalk to and from high in the sky (and I believe most or all walkers should have a planeswalk-related gimmic). This means fights she gets in on the ground can present real danger to her, and that regular people will probably assume she's just an Angel.
Also I guess some planes may just be off-limits, if they don't have a sky for her purposes.
Obviously monowhite, probably just a flying Gideon I guess.
Third, Harry Potter crossover. A kid planeswalks in, befriends Harry, gets involved in the plot(s). Because he's the sole representative of his magic system, he needs to be well-versed in four out of the five colours (not green), but he also needs to be 11 years old.
That's honestly my main problem with HP fic. OCs can't plausibly have interesting backstory, because they're so damn young. But, roll with it.
Also, I'm changing the metaphysics of both settings slightly, to mesh with each other. So not actually game-compliant, sorry.
He casts spells with the Spanish, Portuguese or Italian names, to match HP's pseudo-Latin. I had at least one plot-relevant pun that sadly doesn't work, because of quasi-synonims.
He was originally an apprentice necromancer from Innistrad. Later became an artificer, studying under Saheeli. Also can hurt ghosts, originally I had that be Ghostfire under the idea that she introduced him to Ugin, but that spell can't do that. I guess we say the original necromancy included that, or he met Kaya instead. And he definitely knows about Azor at least, but that one is probably best left unexplained. And he'll know how to use Etherium, though that one legitimately could be something he researches during the story.
He doesn't have a name, none of them do, but because of the Sorting he kinda has a surname. Graham or Grahamson. Does either make sense for an Innistradi?
He's moderately rich, thanks to having learned such advanced robotics, selling the results in planes where they are known to be, but not so commonly found. For the record I also headcanon Saheeli as being able to do that; she may not possess high wealth at any given time, but she knows she can raise more or less arbitrary funds if she wants, given a little time.
I started thinking about this around WAR era, so he'd have met her shortly before or shortly after; no later canon events are incorporated into the story.
I think that's all I have to say about it that's not actually about the HP side. What do you think?
Tell me about your mtg characters!
Let’s reverse the usual, either reblog this post with basic information about your own Magic: the Gathering characters, or send me an ask with it. One at a time, and give me that information even if I already know them, others might not. I’ll ask around questions about them that pop into my head.

‘ rise. ‘
Tumblr media
His hands were shaking, Podrick noted somewhat numbly as he stared down at the cold stone of the floor. He’d been in the wrong place at the wrong time, or so it had seemed. Almost unseeing, he unsteadily pushed himself up to his feet. He nearly fell, soles of his shoes slipping against the smooth stone, but righting himself finally Podrick drew up to his full height, unimpressive as it were.
“What do you WANT?” he asked finally, chin jutting forward in an attempt to be BRAVE, even if it was for the last time potentially, from all he had seen from this VILLAIN. It was not an unlikely outcome.

Fate and Phantasms #91: Ryougi Shiki (Saber)
Tumblr media
Today on Fate and Phantasms we’re going a bit out of our way to an entirely different Nasuverse production, Kara no Kyoukai, to build the mysterious  『Ryougi Shiki』, a.k.a. Void Shiki, a.k.a. Ryougi Shiki (Saber)! Shiki is the host personality of both Shiki and Shiki, and due to her connection with the Root, is effectively omniscient and omnipotent. She’s trying to keep her potence down to what a servant could do at the moment, so don’t expect a power build.
Check out Shiki’s build breakdown below the cut, or her character sheet over here!
Next up: Second verse, surprisingly different from the first.
Race and Background
Shiki is obviously a human, but she’s a human implanted with an additional personality as well as the origin of 「 」, so you’re probably closer to a Kalashtar. I would’ve thought “person with an extradimensional intelligence inside of them” would be a bit niche, but I guess I was wrong. Regardless, you get +2 Wisdom and +1 Charisma. Your Dual Mind gives you advantage on all Wisdom saves, your Mental Discipline gives you resistance to psychic damage, and you can use your Mind Link to speak to a creature within ten times your level in feet telepathically, provided they understand a language. This is a great way to get around that pesky language barrier. You can also spend an action to give a creature the ability to speak back telepathically for up to an hour, and you can only give one creature this ability at a time.
Finally, as a Kalashtar you are Severed from Dreams; you sleep, but don’t dream, so spells like Dream don’t work on you.
As the most reclusive of Shiki’s personalities, and the one with the greatest knowledge of the universe, you’re a shoe-in as a Hermit. This gives you Medicine and Religion proficiency, as well as a great secret of the world chosen by your DM.
Ability Scores:
Put your highest score into Wisdom, you’re literally omniscient and it’s a more useful ability score than Intelligence. Second is Dexterity- you move faster than most people can see, and you’re really handy with a sword. Third is Intelligence, because you’re still omniscient. Your Charisma isn’t that high, but we won’t be using it for much besides multiclassing anyway. Your Constitution is also pretty low, we just needed other stuff more. Finally, dump Strength. You don’t really get out much- it’s hard to go to the gym when you’re letting someone else run your body.
Class Levels
1. Monk 1: Your power comes more from your knowledge of other’s lines of death and your skill rather than brute force, so we’re going Monk instead of Fighter. It’s also way easier to fight in a Kimono this way, thanks to your Unarmored Defense giving you an AC of 10 + your Dexterity mod + your Wisdom mod. You also gain Martial Arts, making the minimum damage you can do with a monk weapon or your fist 1d4. You can also make an unarmed strike as a bonus action, and you can use Dexterity instead of Strength when attacking with a monk weapon or unarmed strike.
You also have proficiency in Strength and Dexterity saves, as well as Acrobatics and History. You’re nimble and know everything, a powerful combo.
2. Monk 2: Second level monks learn how to use Ki points to dash, disengage, dodge, or make two unarmed blows as a bonus action. You also get Unarmored Movement, helping you move 10′ faster when not wearing armor. New to Tasha’s you can also use a Dedicated Weapon with your martial arts, picking a non-heavy, non-special weapon to use as a monk weapon at the end of a long rest. We’re still not proficient with a long-sword yet, so we can’t quite use it yet, but we’ll get there.
3. Sorcerer 1: We’re popping into sorcerer for a bit to awaken your Aberrant Mind, letting you cast Spells using your Charisma as the casting ability and also make Telepathic Speech. You can use your bonus action to link yourself with another creature nearby. Afterwards, for a number of minutes equal to your sorcerer level you can speak telepathically with them as long as they’re within a number of miles equal to your Charisma modifier. The bond lasts a number of minutes equal to your sorcerer level, and only one creature can be affected by it at once. It might be technically possible for something to run over a mile away in less than a minute, but that seems like an edge case. It’s a bit confusing, but this telepathy has a longer range than your other telepathy, at the cost of lasting a shorter time.
For your spells, pick up Message for yet another way to speak to your party, Dancing Lights, Light, Sleep, and Minor Illusion for some dreamlike effects, and False Life to turn your magical energy into your lifeforce.
The aberrant mind is especially useful because you also get some Psionic Spells for free. At first level you get Arms of Hadar, Dissonant Whispers, and Mind Sliver. Most of those aren’t that close to what you need though, so thankfully you can also replace one of these spells with any divination or enchantment spell of the same level from the sorcerer, warlock, or wizards spell lists. So let’s toss out Dissonant Whispers and replace it with Identify; you know literally everything, including what the cool magical artifact you just found is.
4. Sorcerer 2: Second level sorcerers are a Font of Magic, giving you Sorcery Points equal to your level that you can spend to regain spell slots now, or other neat effects later. Speaking of spells, pick up Shield for more AC- it’s not that in-character, but we needed something replaceable for later. You should also replace Arms of Hadar with Detect Magic to further expand your omniscience.
5. Sorcerer 3: Third level sorcerers learn two Metamagic options to enhance their spells. Distant Spell lets you double a spell’s range or turn a touch spell into a 30′ range, very useful for extending your spying spells even further. You also pick up Subtle Spell, which eliminates the need for verbal or somatic components. You don’t use magic to learn things, you just know, that means you shouldn’t let anyone catch you casting.
You also grab 2nd level spells this level: Magic Weapon lets you slice though lines of death instead of flesh to avoid resistances and deal a little more damage. You also get the psionic spells Calm Emotions and Detect Thoughts. We don’t really need to calm people down though, so replace that right away with Locate Object so you’ll never lose your car keys again.
6. Sorcerer 4: Use your first Ability Score Improvement to grab the Weapon Master feat, bumping up your Dexterity and also giving you proficiency in four weapons, including the Long-sword.
You also grab True Strike, because it’s hard to dodge an attack when you can’t even see what it’s aiming for, Mind Spike for more psychic damage and omniscience, and replace Shield with Shadow Blade for a more magical monk weapon as well.
7. Monk 3: Speaking of monk stuff, let’s head back there for our subclass. Monks that follow the Way of the Long Death study death and incorporate their findings into their martial arts, and it’s really easy to study death when you’re able to see it in person. When you take the subclass, you learn the Touch of Death, gaining temporary hp when you reduce a creature’s HP to 0 within 5′ of yourself. You can also Deflect Missiles to reduce incoming damage or throw it back at them for a ki point.
8. Monk 4: Use this ASI to round out your Dexterity and Wisdom for a better AC and better swordplay. You can also Slow Fall to reduce your falling damage by five times your monk level, or use Quickened Healing to turn your Ki points into health based on your martial arts die and your proficiency bonus.
9. Monk 5:  At fifth level, your Martial Arts grows to a d6, and you can make an Extra Attack with each attack action. You can also make a Stunning Strike with your melee attack, spending a ki point to force a constitution save (DC 8 + your wisdom modifier + your proficiency modifier) against being stunned.
10. Monk 6: Sixth level monks can make Ki-Empowered Strikes, making your unarmed attacks magical. It’s not incredibly useful, since you could already magic up your sword, but hey, now you can save a spell slot. You can also signal the Hour of Reaping as an action, frightening everything within 30′ of you that fails a wisdom saving throw. You’re an omniscient swordswoman who can see the death of all things, and may or may not even exist. That’s pretty scary.
You also get an extra 5′ of movement. It’s not quite as scary, but still pretty useful.
11. Sorcerer 5: Fifth level sorcerers can use the new Magical Guidance, spending a sorcery point to re-roll a failed ability check. You know everything, so you should succeed at everything; that’s why it’s so boring.
For spells, you get Haste as your normal spell for doubled speed, +2 AC, an extra action per turn, and advantage on dexterity saves. You’re fast, what can I say. You also get new Psionic Spells, Hunger of Hadar and Sending. You have plenty of ways to speak your mind already, but let’s replace Hunger of Hadar with Clairvoyance for more all-knowing goodness, letting you place a sensor in a location you’ve been before or an obvious place you haven’t been, like around a corner. You can see or hear through the sensor, but not both at once.
12. Sorcerer 6: Sixth level Aberrant Minds get Psionic Sorcery; you can now cast Psionic Spells either by using a spell slot or by spending sorcery points equal to its level. Doing the latter lets you cast it without verbal, somatic, or unconsumed material components. You also have Psychic Defenses, giving you resistance to psychic damage and advantage on saves against being charmed or frightened. This almost entirely overlaps with the Kalashtar abilities you got at level 1, but who knows, maybe there’s a weird spell out there that charms with a constitution save.
For your spell, Blink loosens your grip on this reality, causing you to blink out of existence at the end of your turn if you roll eleven or higher on a d20. At the start of your turns and the end of the spell, you blink back into reality for more fighting. It lasts up to a minute, and isn’t concentration, so pair it with your favorite buff to really become a frightening anomaly.
13. Sorcerer 7: Seventh level sorcerers get fifth level spells, like Far Step, which gives you the cool anime-level speed we’ve been looking for. As a bonus action each turn the spell is up, you can teleport up to 60′ away for speed so blinding people literally can’t see you do it. You also get Evards Black Tentacles and Summon Aberration as Psionic Spells. Neither are in-character, so replace the one you’ll use less with Arcane Eye for one last way to learn things you shouldn’t. This spell creates a magical sensor within 30′ of you, but you can move it as an action with no limit to how far it can go.
14. Monk 7: We’re done switching around classes now; back in Monk, you learn Evasion, which gives you half damage on failed dexterity saves and no damage on successes when you’re trying to avoid damage. Your connection to the Void also gives you Stillness of Mind, letting you end a charming or frightening effect as an action.
15. Monk 8: Pick up the Tough feat for 2 extra HP per level- you’re a monk and your constitution is bad, you’ll really want this.
16. Monk 9: At ninth level you can run over liquid or up walls thanks to your Unarmored Movement Improvement. Just be sure to end your turn somewhere solid.
17. Monk 10: Tenth level monks have a Purity of Body, making them immune to diseases and poisons. You don’t have to deal with poison, Shiki does. You should probably apologize to her one of these days. You also get another 5′ of extra movement, because why not.
18. Monk 11: Eleventh level Long Death monks have a Mastery of Death; when you would hit 0 hp, you can instead spend a Ki point to stay at 1 hp instead. You’re pretty hard to kill, which is just as well- I don’t want to force your DM to have to figure out what happens when the origin of the universe dies. Also, your Martial Arts increases to a d8, for stronger unarmed attacks and more healing.
19. Monk 12: Use your last ASI on more Dexterity for a higher AC and more deadly weapon.
20. Monk 13: Your capstone feature is the Tongue of the Sun and Moon, letting you understand and be understood by anything that speaks a language. I’m almost getting tired of saying this, but you’re omnipotent; Duolingo should be pretty easy by now.
Pros:
You have 50′ of movement normally, the ability to dash or teleport as a bonus action, and access to the haste spell. You’re pretty goddamn mobile, is what I’m trying to say. And unlike a lot of these builds, you can run straight up walls and teleport into the air, so vertical mobility isn’t that much of an issue for you. As long as you don’t mind falling.
You have plenty of options to heal yourself, and you have to die almost a dozen times before you actually stay down. As befitting of The Thing the Universe Is Recorded On, you’re pretty hard to kill.
You’re not as omniscient as you should be, but you’re still really good at learning things you shouldn’t.  With plenty of divination spells that you can cast subtly, you’ll be able to spy on events without anyone knowinng you were ever there.
Cons:
A lot of your buffs and divination spells require concentration, which would be annoying enough even if your constitution wasn’t bad in the first place.
Your best way at dealing with flying enemies is to throw yourself into the air and hope you land okay. I mean you’re a high level monk, so it’s not that big an issue, but it’s still not dignified.
This build is a little bit complicated, with different kinds of points to keep track of. Have fun keeping your sorcery points, spell slots, and ki points all straight.

Details about the AUs under the read more.
Next the stuff that got the most content (so far):
Who The F- Is This (AO3) : DCMK, Time Travel AU, a post-canon Conan got send in the past, decides to cause trouble for everyone, while Kid tries to get him back to his right time.
Sharpen Your Knives / The Kids Will Be Alright / Time Travel NOC AU : Detective Conan, Time Travel AU, the Organisation decides to attack first, causing a chain of events that drop Conan twenty-odd years in the past, where he get adopted by the Miyanos and later join the organisation in the hope of destroying them from the inside. The Kids Will Be Alrights is the other side of the coin, what is happening in the “future” after Conan disappeared. So far I’ve mostly just got vague excerpt and something of an outline.
Harrinichi Kupotter : (DCMK/HP) Shinichi dies, is reincarnated as Harry Potter. The Potter-verse is actually the same as the DCMK-verse, so we get to see Ran/Heiji/Kazuha/etc. again. It is also, somehow, all because of Vermouth. Was born out of the fact there’s not a lot of reincarnation fics for DC, and I guess Shinichi clearly hasn’t been a child long enough. So far I got a somewhat beginning and some excerpt.
Badass Women AU : (FMA) FMA Roleswap au, where Ed is a doctor/automail specialist and Winry is an alchemist. Haven’t really gotten back to it in years but I’ve got part of Ed’s backstory written.
The Time Travel Road Trip Case : (DCMK) same premise as the “Who The F Is This” AU, except Kid also travel in the past, leading to future Kid and Conan doing a road trip and causing chaos. Mostly just excerpt and a main plot.
Baby Ed Saving The World : (FMA) Ed dies of old age. And wake up as his 4yo self, on the night his father left. Also an old one, I got some excerpt in french, need to translate them, the idea is pretty much the Elric-Hohenheim family goes on a road trip and save the world with hugs and punches.
FMA Time Travel Fic 1 : (FMA) was started out of spite for the already existing FMA Time Travel fics on AO3 (not that they’re bad, they’re good mostly, there were just some things I disagreed with). The Promise Day goes to shit, Ed is sent back in time but is unable to speak of the future. Cue stupid shenanigans. Also an old one, need to get back to it someday.
Naobuza and Raphtaku : (Naruto/Shield Hero) Zabuza got reincarnated as Naofumi Iwatani, Haku get reincarnated as Raphtalia. I got some exceprt but not much to be honest, I still get back to it every once in a while.
Midoriya Inko’s Guide to Good Parenthood : (MHA) a Midoriya Inko Time Travel AU. She is sent back in the past as a last ditch effort to save society, and after making sure the right information goes to the right people, she decides to adopt all the children in need of help. Got a vague outline, I’m probably going to wait until further in the manga before actually writing for it.
Dad For All : (MHA) because of a villain attack, Izuku is sent in the past. Stumbling into people in need, he cannot stop himself from helping them. The world is a better place for it. AKA Izuku keeps helping and accidentally adopting everyone, encouraged by Nezu’s desire for chaos.
Vigilante Yagi AU: (MHA) After his first fight against AfO, Yagi Toshinori, AKA All Might, doesn’t let his time limit stop him from helping people. Too bad the fact Yagi Toshinori cannot be linked to All Might means most of his actions are considered vigilantism.
Reincarnation AU: (MHA) Due to OfA fuckery, the souls of the previous OfA holders do not go through the reincarnation process properly, meaning the reincarnates grow to remember their past life.
Shouto’s multistep plan to get expelled: (MHA) Shouto Todoroki never wanted to be a hero, not since he realised how much it hurted his family. So, when Aizawa offers him an “out” in the form of being expulsed from the Hero Course, Shouto goes for it. Hard.
Role Reversal Izuku-Tenko: (MHA) Tenko Shimura is quirkless. Izuku has a quirk named Decay. This changes a lot of things. (Roleswap between Izuku and Shigaraki, as well as Shirakumo and Aizawa. This is as fun as it sounds.)
Honorables mentions (aka vague ideas that aren’t really fics so far)
The Accidental Kidswap AU: (DCMK) Due to Hospital Shenanigans, Kaito and Shinichi got swapped at birth. Due to Genetics, Shinichi Kuroba is still more of a detective, while Kaito Kudo is more of an artist. Due to Fate, Shinchi learn his father was murdered for being Phantom Thief Kaitou KID, and Kaito get poisoned by the APTX.
The Ran Bodyguard AU: (DCMK) Ran decides Shinichi is weak and decides to become his official bodyguard while he does his detective stuff.
The Shrunk Kid AU: (DCMK) Shinichi and Ran’s Not-Date at Tropical Land happens on the same day Aoko tries to prove Kaito isn’t Kid by going to Tropical Land at the time of the heist. On his way back, Kaito witness the deal, and Gin and Vodka confound him with Shinichi, leading to Kaito being poisoned by the APTX instead of Shinichi.
The Babysitting AU: (DCMK) The first idea of the TT NOC AU, before it went bad. Because of one of Agasa’s invention, Shinichi is cartwheeled in the past, where he somehow got roped into babysitting for the Miyanos/Kudos (so, babies Akemi, Rei, Teen Yukiko and Yusaku, Eri and Kogoro, etc.)
Werewolf Ed AU: (FMA/HP) basically a retelling of FMA in the Harry Potter universe, a werewolf attack killed Trisha, turned Ed into a werewolf (and got a few limbs chewed off), and Al got mostly paralysed for a while. There’s also a whole plot about Hohenheim and Dwarf in the Flask and ancient curses.
The Keeping In Touch AU: (DCMK) where the Kudos stayed more in touch with the Kurobas and the Vineyard, but canon still happen mostly the same leading to Akward Situations (”quick haibara hide me” “why? did you see a member of the crows?” “no worse, this is auntie Chris, she changed my diapers, she would totally recognised me” “Vermouth is your aunt ????”)
Shield Hero AU (or, Shifumi): (DC/Rising Of The Shield Hero) Shinichi “dies” from the APTX and wake up as the Shield Hero in Melromarc. (or, as the funny variant, Shinichi get shrunk and wake up in Melromarc as the Shield Hero)
The Shinichi isn’t Conan (or is he?) AU: (DCMK) Shinichi and Conan are siblings. Shinichi still get shrunk, and hides behind the identity of his own brother Conan.
100 Days AU: (DCMK) Based on the manga 100 Days Until You Die, Shinichi is able to see when a living being got 100 (or less) days to live. Heiji also got stronger prophetic dreams.
Nothing To See At Poirot AU: (DCMK) The Poirot Café is a totally normal kind of place. Please ignore the giant glowing cloud. Or Poirot is some kind of yokai/welcome to Nightvale place, and everyone is used to it. Enter new worker Amuro Tooru.

Part of what is so incredibly frustrating about Aang’s arc in book 3 (or lack thereof) is the fact that his culture--despite being ostensibly wiped from the face of the planet, and we’ll set aside for the moment how little sense that makes in general, nevermind from a narrative standpoint--has hints of depth that are never explored. @inkmyname touched on it when pointing out that Aang is very selective about which parts of his own culture he interacts with and attempts to preserve
(which he cherrypicks several times over the course of the series, by the way…)
Because while it is absolutely true that AN culture is horrifically underdeveloped, part of that is because the single solitary living Air Nomad is never allowed to actually engage with, question, learn about, and understand his own culture. This is where Guru Pathik never appearing again after Aang leaves in book 2 (to ignore his own culture’s teachings and attempt to hold on to a selfish attachment he was told he would need to willingly give up in order to achieve true enlightenment and master the Avatar State, I might add) becomes a serious issue--because here was an actual, living, breathing adult with an adult’s understanding of an extinct culture, and he just... vanished from the narrative completely, the moment Aang decided that his feelings for Katara were more important than the adhering to the teachings of his people.
Which means that, yet again, what we were left with was a child’s very basic understanding of his own people. He could parrot aphorisms and wise proverbs he was taught by the monks, but he could exhibit no true understanding of them. He could maintain a vegetarian diet (at great strain to Katara, who had to make sure to cook things Aang would be willing to eat, despite having grown up in a climate where not eating meat would mean starving to death) and profess that he cherished all living creatures, but he could not examine when pacifism may not be the right choice--he could not acknowledge that even his precious monks would take lives if they had to. If other lives were on the line. (See: the fact that he never once seems to realize that Monk Gyatso’s corpse being surrounded by a bunch of skeletons in Fire Nation armor means that Monk Gyatso killed living breathing human beings in an attempt to defend his own people. I do not think he would have hesitated if an entire city-state were directly in the line of fire, no pun intended.)
If you took any twelve-year-old and froze them in a time capsule and woke them up a century later, they may be able to remember some proverbs, a verse or two from some religious text, a few general rules governing social behavior... but they would not be able to reconstruct their entire culture based only on their fallible childhood memories and a few recovered artifacts.
And it is explicit, in the text of the show, that Aang is perfectly willing to discard the teachings of his people when they conflict with something he wants. His people’s teachings say that he should release his attachment to the girl he likes--he evidently misinterprets this to mean he must forgo all connection to her (which is never so much as implied, and if the tenets of Buddhism were to actually be adhered to, giving up his attachment to her wouldn’t even mean that he couldn’t still love her and that a relationship would be out of the question if she loved him in return--merely that his selfish attachment to her needed to go, because he was not entitled to her feelings. this was a lesson he desperately needed to learn, rather than being rewarded for his selfish behavior by having Katara realize at the literal last second that oh, yeah, she really DID have feelings for him), and refuses on the grounds that... he wanted to date this girl who had never once shown romantic interest in him. Because that’s certainly worth throwing his own people’s teachings about spirituality and enlightenment right in the trash.
So the argument that killing Ozai would have killed the last remnants of his culture, and so he needed to find a pacifistic solution in order to preserve them, already doesn’t hold water--because Aang showed very little concern for preserving his people’s beliefs, or anyone else’s (he’s actually... pretty disrespectful of other cultural practices at numerous points in the show and is never really taken to task for it, by the narrative or any of the characters), at any other point in the show. And something that this particular segment of the fandom always loves to claim is that in saying that I’m saying that I wanted a kid to murk a dude on screen in a Y7 show--but that isn’t it at all. None of this is to say that Aang should have killed Ozai (although whether he was allowed to remain alive should have been up to a tribunal of EK and WT citizens, not just the Avatar, but that’s another discussion entirely)--but it is to say that Aang being able to take a third option was not handled well, either from a story perspective or a character one.
What we should have gotten--and what Book 3 seemed to be primed for--is a season long arc of Aang finally mastering the Avatar State and completing his character arc. The foundation was there, the potential beats were lined up, the earlier hints (such as an entire episode dedicated to showing both Aang and the audience that sometimes the object of your affections doesn’t like you back, and that’s ok, because if you love them you should want them to be happy, and if we just ignore the last twenty seconds that completely undermines the entire message [particularly in light of the epilogue] then we’re golden) there to provide some structure for the remainder of his arc.
Instead, what we wound up with were a bunch of useless filler episodes leading up to the failed invasion (which had some gems, like The Puppetmaster and Sokka’s Master, but when weighed against episodes like The Headband and Nightmares and Daydreams, it’s hard to say if they were worth the cost), and then Zuko’s journey into the gaang’s good graces crammed into the last few episodes before the finale. It isn’t until the episode before the finale that Aang even admits to anyone that he can’t enter the Avatar State, and it isn’t until the finale that this is actually ‘resolved’--by a pointy rock showing up at the exact right place to, i guess, jar his chakras loose. Because that’s how it works.
The result is a season that has some of the best single episodes in the series, while having the most disjointed plot, the worst pacing, and the least satisfying finale out of all three seasons. In HP fandom vernacular with which I remain intimately familiar, AtLA may have won the game, but season three absolutely did not catch the snitch. And I haven’t even gotten into the fact that Aang’s moral dilemma over needing to kill Ozai should have come up much earlier in the narrative--prior to the eclipse invasion at least, if not even sooner than that, but I still cannot fathom what Aang planned to do to the man if he actually got to him before the eclipse ended and he was powerless--because this post is already long enough.
The upshot of it all is, though, that Aang’s arc is deeply unsatisfying for a lot of people because it relies on contrivances in order for him to even survive the battle he was supposedly training the entire series for. And he was handed every victory he actually achieved, particularly in that final battle, rather than earning them via his own choices.
He didn’t choose to seek out the lionturtle--it kidnapped him. He didn’t choose to regain the Avatar State--he was thrown against a well-placed rock and it was reactivated automatically. (I know I frequently engage in percussive maintenance myself, but come on.) He did choose to ignore Katara’s words and body language and kiss her anyway--and he was then rewarded with a relationship without so much as apologizing to her for his actions. (And, notably, Katara was given no space on screen to work through her own feelings--it was just assumed that they were there, and she had them for Aang, and it was just a matter of him being persistent enough that she realized it. Which is very much not the message we should be sending the children to whom this show was aimed and marketed.)
I really can’t find anything in Aang’s arc, as presented in the show (rather than the idealized version a lot of Aang stans seem to have constructed for themselves), that is meant to be some sort of ‘ideal’, either from an irl perspective or from a story one. And it remains a constant source of frustration, because all the tools were there, all the potential was there--it’s just that none of it was ever realized by the narrative.
@firelxdykatara I want to reply to this in a different post because I don’t want to continue arguing on OP’s post anymore. The thing is that it does seem like there was an attempt made to build this conflict up, but it was just...forgotten. Which is especially weird when we talk about the parallels between Aang and Zuko, because there are several places where Aang’s internal struggle is paralleled with Zuko’s. And this is part of what makes Aang’s arc not hold up to Zuko’s, unfortunately.
One of the things that should have been explored about the Air Nomads is the fact that they actually did Aang quite badly by telling him that he was the Avatar too early, and that seemed like it was an important plot point and part of Aang’s internal struggle...until it wasn’t. A lot of people say that Aang’s desire to avoid conflict and be a kid is an Air Nomad trait, and it kinda is, but from what we saw in the flashback, we know that not all Air Nomads were like this, and Aang’s relationship with Gyatso - which I REALLY wanted to be explored more - was actually contrasted with the rigid ways of the other monks. We saw this in Aang and Gyatso playing pranks and in how Gyatso tried to shelter Aang and let him be a kid a little longer, which he should have been able to do. Aang ran away because the Air Nomads were trying to take him away from Gyatso! This is a pretty standard coming of age plot, growing up and realizing that not every adult is good and right all the time and has your best interests in mind (Zuko also learns this in his flashback, in much more violent way). And Aang was so angry and hurt and betrayed when he recounted it in “The Storm,” and it’s a direct parallel to the way Zuko’s father betrayed him. What happened to that? What happened to that anger? What happened to “how could they do that to me?!”
But there’s no follow up to this. I think they could have done more with the Guru Pathik character possibly in order to fix this, like maybe showing Aang being resistant to learning from him because of those lingering negative feelings. But then, Pathik himself is one of the weakest parts of the story, and is little more than a racist caricature. That’s part of the problem.
Similarly Aang trying to reconcile his unhealthy attachment to Katara and his love for Katara was part of his internal struggle...until it wasn’t. And once again it’s paralleled with Zuko’s arc. Like, the episode where that conflict is introduced, “The Avatar State,” is the same episode where Zuko chooses to go with Azula back to the Fire Nation and chooses his unhealthy attachment to his father instead of Iroh. This conflict runs through that season (again paralleling Zuko’s arc) and is brought up again in the finale for book 2, and the resolution is even hinted at:
Aang: Well, I met with this guru who was supposed to help me master the Avatar State and control this great power, but to do it, I had to let go of someone I love. And I just couldn't.
Iroh: Perfection and power are overrated. I think you were very wise to choose happiness and love.
Aang: What happens if we can't save anyone and beat Azula? Without the Avatar State, what if I'm not powerful enough?
Iroh: I don't know the answer. Sometimes, life is like this dark tunnel. You can't always see the light at the end of the tunnel, but if you just keep moving, you will come to a better place.
There we have it! Aang didn’t need to give up his love for Katara, nor did he need to exchange her for power. It’s a false dichotomy. The show is really good at setting up false dichotomies only to break them down in other places, but with the Avatar state arc they just...don’t quite manage it. It seems like they were trying to set it up, too, by paralleling Aang’s fall at Ba Sing Se with Zuko making the wrong choice, but there’s no follow-through.
Instead of Aang experiencing a conflict with his cultural identity, suddenly the Air Nomads become these idealized figures who are always right in book 3, primarily so he can lecture Katara and Zuko on the evils of revenge. If this is Aang trying to hold on to the last vestiges of his culture and not wanting to acknowledge how his last interaction with the monks was a negative one, the story needs to show that! THAT would be an interesting character conflict! But instead they drop that story entirely and make it about whether Aang is going to kill Ozai, because Aang is so good and wise and everybody else suddenly wants him to kill for some reason. Which of course he isn’t going to do, because it’s a nickelodeon show. It’s not just that the lionturtle is a deus ex machina, it’s that it’s a solution to a problem that never felt like a real problem and was put in place of actual real character conflict.
And although I’m not a huge fan of Kataang, this absolutely could have been done WITHOUT sacrificing Kataang. When the narrative suggested that he needed to give up Katara to become the Avatar, when Aang went into the Avatar state and said “I’m sorry, Katara,” I actually shouted NO at my screen. Because Aang should NOT have to give up love in order to become a hero, and that’s not what the Buddhist idea of getting rid of earthly attachments means, anyway. It means getting rid of unhealthy attachments, and as you said, that was shown in Aang’s behavior towards Katara. And it seemed like the writers were working towards Aang having a realization that his behavior towards Katara was unhealthy, that if he loved her he needed to actually have a real conversation with her about her feelings and give her space to say no (even if she says yes in the end), and that never happened.
There’s also a reason Iroh has this conversation with Aang in book 2. If we want an example of someone who has achieved a spiritual balance in their life, and given up earthly attachments in favor of living simply, Iroh is that character, and he’s a much better example than a westernized Guru caricature or a twelve year old spouting pithy aphorisms about revenge, because Iroh’s wisdom comes from experience. And Iroh’s advice is that sometimes life is like a dark tunnel, and that you need to go through the dark to get to the light. Iroh also admits that he doesn’t know the answer, because like all truly wise people, he is wise enough to know that he knows nothing. That’s why Aang having spiritual knowledge handed to him so that he can avoid having to make a decision feels like a cop-out. The show didn’t even tell us until the last second that what the knowledge was was energybending, because the writers KNEW it was a cop-out.
And the choice between power and love? Is not even made. Aang still gets to have a super special power bestowed upon him and beats Ozai because he learns how to bend energy, the most powerful and special form of bending of them all, guys. It’s actually super frustrating because the writers CAN resolve this in a meaningful way. They do it with Zuko, who also has super special powers bestowed upon him in the climax of the story, but in the end it’s not power, it’s his frienship with Katara and his willingness to sacrifice for her that saves him. Wasn’t Aang supposed to be making a similar choice about Katara? Hmmmmmmmm.
