why does William continue insisting that Eliza should just settle down and forget the detective business and STOP undermining him and going against his order and DEFINITELY STOP jumping in the middle of his cases (particularly ones where she's used some unscrupulous means to get in the middle of them), when almost every time she does something incredibly cool (sometimes actually saving his life at the same time), and the camera immediately flashes to his face wherein can be seen a mixture of general annoyance + a very distinct oh snap that's really hot
#like. he pretends that he doesn't like it!!! what is UP with that man!!!#he acts like he thinks it's unseemly and inappropriate for her to behave this way when he CLEARLY actually finds very attractive#it's kind of funny to me but also kind of odd because he continues insisting that this is no way for a lady to behave#and 'wouldn't you like to settle down and have a family sometime eliza?' 'wouldn't you like to be a normal woman?'#and it apparently just hasn't occurred to him that the reason he loves her is BECAUSE of these tendencies towards disruption and disorder#he seems to want to quash??#I'm sure there's a good reason for this I just need to sit and think about it for a bit#I think it has to do with him caring too much what society and his superiors think of him (and her by extension)#but instead of continuing to dwell on this I am chugging right along to the next episode#(oh and I am pleased to reveal that between this show and Tenet with Lu last night#I finished the hand-sewing project I was working on!! :D#now I am back to the never-ending job of weaving in the ends of my Fourth Doctor scarf#which is the project I fall back on whenever I run out of other things to do whilst watching movies lol)#miss scarlet and the duke#gurt says stuff

Hello! I was wondering if you could please do newt (platonic/familial) with a younger sibling who makes/mends close and personality wise is similar to Luz from TOH? Thank you! :D
yesyesyesyesyesywsyes omg please keep the maze runner requests coming I'm very very fixated atm kdk how to function, PLEASE SPAM ME W TMR REQS RJNENE ; anyways thank you for requesting, hope you enjoy!! ; post writing robin here, I tried with the personality like Luz but I struggled for some reason so I'm so sorry about that LMAO
NEWT ; clothing maker/mender
summary ; you make and mend clothing around the Glade, and Newt is somehow always there to help
warnings ; language, Newt is still a runner so pre-injury era
genre ; platonic fluff
word count ; 1.1k
masterlist
The day you came up in the box, you were frightened and felt like you didn't fit in with the other kids of the Glade. You were socially awkward and didn't know how to talk to people, although being a people pleaser.
Talking was just hard for you, but luckily, Newt understood. He tucked you under his wing and tried to help you fit in with the others, but to no avail. Nothing was sticking out to you, it wasn't like jobs were supposed to be enjoyable but you truly couldn't fit in anywhere. The fifteen year old boy with dirty blonde hair was there for you, though, reassuring you that actually becoming a Glader, even after remembering your name, took time.
Becoming a Runner was off the table at day one, you had zero stamina and could barely run for shit, let alone your life, you and Newt, and Alby, Minho, and the other Runners quickly agreed upon that. Being a Builder was quickly eliminated as well, because you didn't want to deal with obnoxious assholes like Gally, Hank, and Alec all day long. Plus, you knew nothing about "structural integrity" or whatever the hell they were talking about anyways, wood to hammer to nail was all you saw.
You quickly gained a friendship with Winston after a month or two in the Glade, but no way in Hell were you joining the Slicers either. You'd gain an emotional attachment to the animals much too quickly to then watch them die, the emotional despair would be a bit much at the moment. Bagger was also off the charts, leaving Med-Jack and Track-Hoe on the table for you.
Newt wasn't going to let you become a Slopper, considering you weren't bad at helping people nor farming, you just had to find your thing that you'd be comfortable doing. So, you settled on Track-Hoe as they needed more help in the gardens and you wouldn't mind getting your hands dirty, with dirt, that is. No blood.
You found, or maybe relearned, your nick for sewing one morning as you needed to repair your shirt, and ran straight to Newt with your new talent. After seeing it himself, Newt quickly bounced to Alby's side to ask if you could make mending and making clothes your job. You hadn't had any luck finding a job out of the many in the Glade, clearly, so this might've been your luck turning.
The next coming days were slow. Thankfully, Alby approved your idea of a new job, considering you and Newt wouldn't stop pestering him about it, and it'd be a great convenience to have you around for something as necessary as clothing. The builders graciously built you a little hut next to the Homestead to give you your own little place to go and work, instead of working around the Glade and potentially dirty-ing the clothes you fixed and made.
The hut consisted of a table, a loom, a hanging rack for finished projects, and a little chest system organized by all the threads, needles, etcetera. Alas, Newt was the one to help you with your new job on days when he wasn't running out in the maze. Minho switched him out with Ben or George on those days as per his request, as to help you learn how to talk to and understand the Gladers, whom you didn't understand too well yet.
But, by the time the next Greenie, Henry, arrived, you were right on track. You modeled and measured and patched and sewed your days away, finding peace in the seemingly boring activity. And by this time, Newt had become your brother figure and your best friend, considering how much he understood and supported you and helped you get some great opportunities around the Glade. And now, you were the Keeper of the Seamers, the only worker, but still the Keeper.
After a long day of running in the maze with Minho, Newt jogs to your expansion of the Homestead, desiring your help.
"Hey, Shank" He warmly smiles, closing the door made of sticks behind him. "How's your day been?"
You shrug in response. "Slow. Need me to fix anything for you?"
He awkwardly smiles and nods, looking down at his knees. His cargo pants are ripped, and the skin beneath painted a light red in comparison to his pale complexion, rug burns covering his kneecaps.
"Tripped and fell out in the maze" He explains, "Just don't want them falling apart because it kinda trailed 'round to the back" He says, tracing the little rips around his knees.
You nod. "I mean, the best solution would be keeping them like that or turning them into shorts for hot days. But I know the maze is cold and stuff, so, your call. I don't wanna ruin your running pants but I can always scrounge up new ones, and the next Greenie will be up in two days so it wouldn't be that long of a wait-"
"I'll just keep them ripped" He lightly smiles, cutting your rant off.
He knew damn well to not let you spiral over something so little, so he developed the radar to sniff out when you were about to rant about small things for an hour out of panic. He pats your shoulder before sitting down next to you, looking over at the rack of finished clothing you'd patched up and finished making.
"Oh, were you able to finish that shirt you were making for yourself?" He asks, running a hand through his hair.
Lord, he needed a haircut, although the best method of that was knives, which made it all choppy and blunt. Hopefully, WCKD would send up some cutting shears or something soon. All of your hair needed a cut desperately.
You nod, setting your needle and thread down to go grab it. You pull it off the rack and hold it to your chest. A simple, thin, off white, long sleeved shirt rests against your torso as you cheesily smile at him.
"Looks good"
"Thanks" You put the shirt back on the rack, deciding to put it back in the Homestead near your hammock later.
Newt was usually very supportive and went out of his way to show appreciation and reassurance for you, though making it casual to actually feel real for you. Once he found out that he needed to speak with you like that after reassuring that you'd live without rain, he learned the lesson.
Before you can speak again, Ben runs in, looking for your help.
"Y/n, I ripped up the sleeve of my shirt, can you fix it?" He asks, holding the grey-blue shirt up for you to see
"Yeah, sure, leave it on that table" You reply, pointing at the table in front of you.
"Thanks, you're the best!" He says, setting the shirt on the table before leaving.
Newt looks up at you and smiles, "You're getting used to talking to people, I see"
You nod, catching his infectious smile.
"Welcome to the Glade, Y/n/n"

Sewing Clothes and Drinking Tea
I apologize for being gone so long, life got busy. I finished this WIP while in science class because I hate science and decided to post it.
Feedback and criticism are welcome! Just please be nice about it.
QUICK SYNOPSIS or whatever it's called: Professor Crewel and Prefect Yuu bonding over sewing and tea because of a secret influence (you'll know by the end).
CW: Yuu is anxious (probably, it's just my thought process, they might just come off as nervous), I don't know how to describe tea or sewing, this takes place before Book 5 (VDC is referenced but Yuu doesn't know what it is)
Happy St. Patrick's Day!
It's the day of my people :D
Yuu trudged toward the school store, their messenger bag shrugged over their shoulder. Ace and Deuce had torn holes into their uniforms by getting into a scrap with Octavinelle students (read: Floyd). Not only that, but Grim had a spat with Leona, tearing his bow.
Now the trio was employing the prefect to fix their clothes. Yuu sighed and pinched the bridge of their nose. They were going to end up in debt because of their idiots.
As soon as they entered the store, Mr. S was at their side, an apologetic look on his face. “I’m sorry, little devil. We just ran out.”
Yuu had learned not to question how he knew these things. Though, they suspected the shadows had something to do with it. “Really?” Sam always had what they needed in stock. “Did a delivery not come in?”
He shook his head. “No, Divus bought the last of the sewing materials. From how much he got, he’s either working on a new project or a large group of imps wrecked their clothes.”
“Oh. The prefect clicked their tongue. Dammit, tomorrow was Monday. If Grim didn’t have his bow fixed, Crowley wouldn’t be pleased with them. And while Ace and Deuce weren’t in Ramshackle and, technically, weren’t their responsibility, Yuu would rather not let their friends down. Also, hearing Ace whine about a collar for a week sounded like hell.
“Well, little devil, I’m sure if you asked politely enough, Divus would lend you some.” Sam had obviously noticed their downcast expression.
Yuu perked up. “Do you think?”
“Yes, yes.” Sam went back to stocking behind the counter.
“Wait.” They deflated a bit. “Won’t Professor Crewel be at home? It is the weekend, Mr. S.”
"He keeps all his projects and sewing materials at his school office."
"Why?"
Sam shot a small smile their way. "He works on them in between classes and after school."
"Doesn't he have paperwork to do during those times?" Yuu asked, feeling bemused.
His small smile turned into a cheeky one. "Maybe," he shrugged.
They shook their head in amusement. "Thank you, Mr. S." They turned to leave. "I'll tell you how it goes!"
"There's no need; I'll know," Sam chuckled.
~~~~~~~~~~~
As Yuu walked through the desolate halls, some doubts filled their mind. What if Professor Crewel wasn't there? And if he was, would he listen to them? Would he help? Or would he turn them away with the flick of his wrist? The prefect was quite intimidated by the fur-coat-wearing teacher. And for good reason!
Divus Crewel had a strict way of teaching. He never stood for tardiness or horsing around. Any student who went against him would be punished severely. He taught with a whip and a terrifying glare. And last but not least, he reminded Yuu of Cruella De Vil. She had scared them shitless as a kid. With her freaky design and her intent to kill puppies and skin them for their coats, how could she not have?
They hesitated outside the alchemy classroom door. If they wanted, they could turn back now. They could buy a new bow for Grim. Ace and Deuce aren't precisely their problems, the duo have a housewarden and should know how to care for themselves.
A voice cut off their thoughts. "Come in, pup!" It called through the door.
Yuu creaked the door open at the invitation. The infamous Professor Crewel sat at a desk at the front of the room. He had a needle in his hand while fabric floated around him. "Hello, professor."
"Sam told me you were coming." The shadows seemed to dance when he said that. "What is it that you need?"
"Um, well..." Yuu looked at his forehead, avoiding eye contact. "Uh, you see, Grim and my friends tore a few stitches in their clothing and asked me to fix it up, again. I ran out of the thread and patches I needed, so I went to Mr. S's shop. And, well, you got the last of it.
"Mr. S then said that you maybe, probably, might let me borrow some of the materials?" Their rambling got quicker and quieter the more they went on.
Divus quirked an eyebrow. It was obvious that the prefect was nervous around him. It was no wonder considering his reputation with the student body. "Let me take a look at the damage those pups have done."
Yuu fumbled with their bag before pulling the torn clothing out. They walked over and handed it over to the teacher. He inspected the tears.
Most of Grim's vow was now shredded ribbons, Leona had got him good. Ace had gotten the brunt of Floyd's attack; Deuce's uniform wasn't as bad. Their clothes were torn from a force pulling at them and there were claw marks here and there.
Divus sighed. These pups were always so reckless. "I'll mend these. Pull up a chair." He waved his hand to the side, gesturing toward a seat.
Yuu immediately grabbed one, bringing it over to the side of the teacher's desk. They sat down, watching Professor Crewel work silently.
Some of the black fabric overhead floated down and scissors cut patches out of it. Magic threaded the needle for Divus. He grabbed it out of the air and began sewing the uniforms back into their proper form. The Ramshackle prefect watched in awe at the teacher's skill, but they felt a bit confused.
"Professor," they said, pulling his concentration away from his work. "Why don't you just use magic to sew?"
He sighed, expecting this question. "I don't want to build up too much blot."
"But you're making the fabrics and material float?"
"It's easier to organize them if they're not all dumped on my desk," he answered, a loud snip coming from his scissors. One patch down.
The prefect was about to ask another question but Crewel interrupted them. "Would you like some tea, pup?"
Yuu, caught off-guard by the sudden question, takes a moment to answer. "Um, yes please." After the whole Azul fiasco, they were suspicious of any free things offered to them.
Divus opened one of his desk drawers and pulled out a teapot and two teacups seemingly out of nowhere. From Yuu's perspective, the drawer looked like a void. "How did you do that?" they blurted out, amazement on their face.
The teacher stifled a chuckle. "It's an enchantment so the drawer has unlimited space. I cast it back when I started teaching here." He poured tea into the two cups and pushed one toward the teen.
The smell wafted up to their nostrils. They could've died happy then and there; it smelt so wonderful. They couldn't quite put their finger on it even though it was familiar. "What type of tea is this? It smells fantastic!"
"It's a walnut and almond green tea. I had it imported from the Queendom of Roses," Divus said proudly, taking a sip before going back to work.
Yuu took a sip as well, humming in delight. "Is it specially made there?"
He nods, focusing on the needle in his hand. "It's said that the Mad Hatter drank it at his unbirthday parties. Only the people of the queendom know how to brew it."
They muttered something about Riddle and his mother before speaking again. "Hmm, green tea's quite common back home. It's easy to get; you don't need to import it from another country."
"How interesting, pup." Two more loud snips sounded through the room. Two more patches done.
After his indifferent response, Yuu goes quiet. They take a sip of their tea and inspect the cup for something to do. It was plain white with little green leaves attached to thin vines. Each leaf was different in shape and size, but still similar. As they examined the teacup, they realized it looked authentic.
"Professor Crewel, is this handmade?" They held the teacup up so he knew what they were talking about.
Snip. Snip. Snip. Three patches and two uniforms done. "Yes, this set was handmade by an old friend of mine," he said as he grabbed his magic pen. The black fabric floated back up into the air. In its place, strips of grey and white fabric dropped onto the professor's desk.
Yuu watched with fascination as Divus lined up the material meticulously. "Who was the friend?"
"A friend from college, Ansel. He actually went to RSA. We met when I was in my second year and he was in his first." He sounded nostalgic as he spoke. "We met at that year's VDC. Ansel was performing for his team while I was a costume for mine. We went all out that year," he chuckled, now sewing the strips together.
"VDC?" the prefect mumbled before shaking their head. They'll ask about what that is later. "Were you good friends with him? Do you both still talk?"
The man sighed. "Yes, we were good friends. No, I don't talk with him much anymore, pup. We still text every once in a while. Before you ask, the last time we actually talked was at his wedding." He had finished fashioning the strips into a grey and white striped ribbon. Instead of fixing Grim's old bow, he had made a new one.
Yuu quickly downed the rest of their tea before they were handed the new and improved school uniforms. "Ah, thank you, sir."
Divus nodded curtly. "You're welcome, pup. Now run along." He got right back to work mending other clothing articles.
The prefect was about to walk out the door when he called out to them. "Pu- Prefect Yuu?"
They turned around to face him. "Yeah?"
"My door is always open if you need anything." He shot them a small, warm smile.
"Okay, thank you," they said, smiling brightly back at him before leaving.
Unbeknownst to the two, a certain shadow darted out of the room.
~~~~~~~~~~~
Sam was closing up shop when a shadow appeared next to him. It looked lively as it waved its arms around and seemingly danced.
Same glanced at it every now and then, wiping the store's front counter as he "heard" what took place in the alchemy teacher's classroom.
He chuckled afterward. "I knew they'd get along!"
The shadow shook its head in response.
"Look, I know it was bad to lie to the little devil, but hey, it ended up benefitting them. Now they have someone responsible that they can rely on." The shopkeeper bent under his counter and pulled out sewing materials.
"I better go put these back now, huh?"
~~~~~~~~~~~
Thank you for reading! I'm sorry for any OOC behavior and anything I get wrong about the slight mention of VDC. I haven't made it past book 4 yet. This is my second time writing an actual fic for this fandom and my first time actually posting one! On Sunday, I might post a drawing/painting that goes with this fic. I don't have my sketchbook on me right now.
wtf i NEED to see the tundra plush ur making :0
Oh im only about a third of the way through! But heres some pics:
I started off with making a paper ver to try out Shapes and then drafted it into a rough pattern - i refined that with scrap fabric tests and made a wire armature so that i can pose it when its done :D
As of now ive got all my fabric pieces cut out, i just need to sew them together!! (which might take a while, since im doing pretty much all of the fiddly bits by hand lol)
Once its finished ill put up a clean pattern in case anyone wants to use it :] and it should work as a plushie without an armature too, i just wanted to pose mine hehe
The remaining stages will just be sewing round the armature, stuffing it, and then shaving the fur down to the right lengths :3
Ill upload more pics of the proccess if ppl are interested!!!! I only started doing this on a whim cos someone asked for fr plushie patterns in the old oaks server xD literally all it takes for me to start a new project is someone breathing in my direction
Married to The Enemy - Shingen Ch. 50
Chapter 50
It had been a few weeks since that last dinner with my grandmother. So far, Shingen was doing well with all of his followup appointments. The doctor even remarked on how well and how quickly Shingen was recovering. Shingen was in tip top condition. Though we still had to continue the appointments to ensure the tumor was not returning nor were any others growing. But the doctor was confident that things were going well.
Since we still had time here, we had to decide what all we would do. I showed Shingen around many of the modern sights…we ended up going to the beach a few more times, deciding to enjoy it before summer came to an end. We also went on little trips with Sasuke, him showing us around different places that had been of historical significance. Places that Shingen knew from his time, so he could see how they had changed.
Another thing we had decided to do was to get some work. We learned that the initial money that had been given to us, came from Sasuke. He had insisted he didn’t want it back and that he wanted us to use it to enjoy ourselves. It was something he was happy to do for us. But still neither of us wanted to completely rely on it.
After debating, we had decided our best bet would be to invest the money into our crafts. I bought fabric and some good sewing notions, while Shingen bought some hand tools just like the ones he was used to using back in the Sengoku. We then made a few sample pieces and posted them online and soon we had sales. It didn’t take long for us to get plenty of orders. Though since we were only going to be here for a short time, we didn’t want to take up more than we could handle. But we took on just enough.
It was rather nice, spending our days working together on our projects side by side. We were each doing our own thing. Existing in the same space. But it was just so fulfilling to do so. I found myself always doing my work with a smile on my face simply because Shingen was at my side.
I finished up on a custom dress I had been working on for a customer. She wanted a princess dress for a costume ball she would ball she would be attending. It was a fantasy theme for a charity event and I was more than happy to do the work. It was so much fun.
“There. That’s the last touch.” I declared as I looked at the dress on the form in the middle of the living room.
Shingen looked up from his work and smiled. “That looks so lovely.” He declared. “I am sure your customer will be pleased.”
I smiled. “I hope so. She loved the design when I showed her. Her eyes just lit up. I can’t wait to see her face when I deliver the piece to her.” I replied. I was then picking up my phone, taking a picture and sending it to my customer.
All finished! 🙂
It was a few seconds later I had a reply.
OH MY GAWD! IT’S BEAUTIFUL!!! I CAN’T WAIT TO SEE IT IN PERSON AND TRY IT ON!!! WILL TOMORROW BE OKAY? <3 :D
Haha, I’m glad you like it! I can’t wait to see how beautiful it looks on you! Tomorrow works perfect. Shall we meet in our same place?
YES! My office tomorrow at lunch time!
Great see you then 🙂
“It seems she likes it.” I said with a smile.
“Well, when the piece is made by such a talented seamstress with such care, people are bound to love it.” Shingen replied, a look of pride on his face.
I felt myself flushing. “Oh, Shingen…how is your project coming along?” I asked.
“The jewelry box is almost finished.” He answered. “I’ve finished the carving and such. I just have to put the cushioning and lining in now.”
I smiled as I looked at the intricate carving on top of the box. “It’s beautiful. Your customer wanted to gift it to his wife, right?”
Shingen nodded. “He said it was for their anniversary.” He answered. “And I have to put my best work in for a customer who wants to dote on his wife so. I mean, I can understand exactly where he is coming from.”
“Oh you…”
Shingen chuckled warmly. “We’ll have to be getting ready soon, won’t we?” He asked.
I looked at the time. “Oh yes. If we’re going to meet Shoko and Kenji for the movie.” I replied.
“Alright, I’ll just finish this part up real quick and then I’ll be able to get ready.”
“Okay. I’ll go ahead and hop in the shower real quick.” I replied. I walked over to Shingen and gave him a quick peck on the cheek before heading to the bathroom.
Once in the bathroom, I turned the water on so it could warm up. I hung a fresh towel close by and then stripped and took my hair down from the bun I’d had it in while sewing. I checked the temperature of the water and then hopped in.
I closed my eyes and leaned back to start the process of washing my hair. Once I had my hair wet, I reached for my shampoo…but found a much larger hand had beat me to it. I looked up as Shingen smiled at me having come into the bathroom…or snuck in I should say. I didn’t even hear the door open. He had already stripped down, too.
“When did you sneak in here?” I asked, grinning at him.
“Just a few minutes ago.” He answered. “I thought it would be best to conserve water if we showered together.”
I giggled. “I can see the logic in that.”
“I also thought you might like some help with washing your hair and your back.”
“I’ve been doing those things for myself for years.” I replied. I then pointed to the loofa on a stick that was for washing my back. “That is for my back.”
“I know…but it can’t massage you while washing your back.” Shingen pointed out. “And don’t you enjoy the feeling of my hands in your hair?”
“Okay…you have some good points there.” I replied. “I guess I can allow you to help me…and I can help you, too.”
“My goddess is generous.” Shingen said, that warm smile lighting his gray eyes. He squirted the shampoo in his hands and I turned my back to him. It didn’t take long for me to feel those large hands in my hair, fingers massaging my scalp.
“Mmmm…” I hummed contentedly as I closed my eyes. Shingen was so incredibly good with his hands. They knew how to soothe and relax me just as much as they knew how to work me up into a heated frenzy of desire.
“I love seeing that smile on your face.” Shingen murmured. “You really have the most beautiful smiles.”
“Well, it’s a good thing for you then, that you make me smile so easily.” I replied, my smile widening.
“I am a lucky man, indeed.” Shingen agreed.
After washing my hair, Shingen helped me with my back, being true to his word that he would massage my back as he did. I honestly hadn’t realized how tense my shoulders had been from being hunched over my sewing machine. Shingen must have realized and wanted to take care of me.
After I was finished being washed, it was Shingen’s turn. He sat down on the edge of the tub facing me so that I could wash his hair. He closed his eyes as a contented smile crossed his lips while I worked my fingers against his scalp.
“My goddess had the most relaxing touch.” He said, his eyes still closed.
“I just want to take as good of care of you as you do me.” I replied. “I like doting on you and spoiling you, too.”
Shingen’s strong arms wrapped around me and pulled my wet naked body against his. He opened his eyes and looked at me. “When you say such sweet things, my angel…it only makes me love you more.”
I grinned. “Well, good. Because I can’t help but to fall for you more each day, too.” I replied, leaning in to kiss him on the lips.
“How can you only keep getting cuter?” Shingen asked me when I pulled away.
“I think you might be biased…but I am okay with that.” I replied with reddening cheeks. “You know, I’m starting to think we’re using more water than if we’d have showered separately.”
Shingen chuckled. “Probably…but it is more enjoyable this way, isn’t it?”
“Well…yes.” I replied. “But we should probably hurry or else we’re going to end up being late.”
“Probably.” Shingen agreed. He gave my waist a squeeze before releasing me.
I finished up washing his hair and then helped him with his back. Once we were finished with the shower, we got out and dried off. We wrapped up in towels and Shingen helped me dry my hair before we went to get dressed.
It was going to be a casual evening. Movie and then dinner at a small casual restaurant. But it was also still a date, so I wanted us to dress up a little bit. It was always fun to get dressed up. For Shingen I picked out some nice jeans -and boy did he look good in jeans- and a white v-neck t-shirt and a relaxed black button-down short-sleeve shirt.
For myself, I picked out a cute black dress with a white floral print. It had spaghetti straps and was flowy, coming down to about my mid-thigh. “I really do love these clothes you wear in this era.” Shingen said as he came up behind me, fingertips gliding over my bare arms.
“Are my clothes your favorite thing about this era?” I asked, a teasing smile on my face.
“You are the best part of this era.” Shingen replied, wrapping his arms around me and pulling me against him. “How you look in the clothing of this time is just…icing on the cake as you say.”
I giggled. “I like that I am the cake and the icing in this case.”
“I did say you were my favorite sweet.” Shingen replied, nuzzling his face against the side of my neck.
“We really are gonna end up being late if we don’t hurry.” I said, smiling.
“You’re just so beautiful I forget myself.” Shingen replied, giving me a few neck and shoulder kisses before releasing me. ‘Let me help you with your hair.”
Shingen brushed out my hair and then pulled it up into a cute relaxed bun. He helped me put on my necklace and earrings next. A simple silver chain with a heart pendant and some silver hoops. He ducked down for me so that I could help him put on the silver tiger-tooth necklace.
Once we were dressed, we headed out to meet Shoko and Kenji at the theater. We arrived and met them at the entrance. Shoko grinned as soon as she saw us. “I was starting to think we might have to go see a later showing.” She teased.
“Hey, we aren’t running that far behind.” I teased.
“It’s alright. We only just got here ourselves.” Kenji replied. “The boys didn’t want to get ready so they could go to their grandparents’.”
Shoko playfully elbowed Kenji in the ribs. “You aren’t supposed to tell them that. Come on, we have to give the newlyweds a hard time.”
“Oh, like you don’t remember being that way.” Kenji teased. “We’re still that way sometimes.”
“It’s hard not to be that when you’re lucky enough to have a beautiful wife.” Shingen replied, his arm wrapping around my waist.
Kenji nodded his agreement as he pulled Shoko close. “I agree completely.” He said. “You know, this is why I like you, Shingen. You get that there is nothing better than being totally head over heels for your wife.”
Shoko and I smiled and shook our heads as we looked at each other. Though neither of us were complaining about our husbands being totally in love with us. It was rather nice. “Come on, let’s go in and get our tickets and our snacks.”The four of us headed inside and got our tickets. Then we got in line at the concessions. While we were waiting, we were called to by a familiar voice. “Oh my gosh! Can’t believe I’m running into you guys here! It must be a movie date night for everyone!”
Making a Masking Tape Pattern
It's an old cosplay hack. You wrap a part of your body in plastic wrap (cling film), and then apply duct tape or masking tape over the plastic wrap until it fits to your body. You can then draw on the shape of the garment and seams, and it should fit perfectly to your measurements.
Over the weekend I was attempting to use a bodice pattern I already had to make a leather chest plate for a D&D Ranger Cosplay. After several failed mock ups, in which the curve for the princess seam just wouldn't sew flat, I gave up and looked for a different pattern. My usual online sources for free patterns failed me, and I decided to try my hand at this age old cosplay hack.
Step 1: Wrapping Yourself in Plastic Wrap and Tape.
I was able to wrap the plastic wrap around my entire torso, but not so much by upper back. For that I required the help of my mom. I was able to apply the tape to my front half, but for the back I once again needed the help of a second person.
Step 2: Marking the Seams
Once I was wrapped in tape, I took a sharpie and drew on where I wanted the seams. I marked a center front line, a center back line, a shoulder seam line, and a side seam line. I also marked a front and back neckline, and drew on the curve of the princess seam so that it curved over my bust to my waist to account for the natural curve of my bust.
Then my mom cut me out of the tape up the center back line. Note, be sure you are thoroughly wrapped in plastic wrap before you start applying tape. I didn't do as good a job as I thought I did, and disaster struck.
Thankfully the tank top I was wearing was one I'd had since high school, so losing it wasn't the end of the world, but maybe wear an old shirt you don't care about if you do this, just in case.
Step 3: Making the Pattern
Once free of my masking tape cocoon, I cut apart the shell along the seam lines I drew. That left me with three wobbly tape pieces. The seam over the bust held its 3D shape once cut apart, so I added a notch in the curve to make it lie flat.
Then I traced the shapes onto some parchment paper (but any big enough piece of paper will do) and added half an inch all the way around to allow for the seams and hems.
Step 4: Mock Up
Before I cut into the very expensive fake leather I bought, I wanted to make sure the pattern fit. So I cut apart a mock up from another project to make a mock up for this one.
Half of it fit great, half of it came out super wonky, but at that point I'd been working on this for 6 hours straight, so I decided to wait and fix it the next day. I got up the next morning and cut another mock up and stitched it together.
This time it fit perfectly, and I cut into the leather.
Step 5: Final Fabric
I cut out the pattern one last time, this time in the fake leather I purchased.
Then I stitched it together, and tried it on using clothes pins to hold it shut.
As you can see, it fits perfectly. I have some buckles coming, and then I'll be able to finish it!
Normally I would have saved this for when I completed the project, but I was really excited and proud that I learned a new technique! I wanted to share that excitement with you.
Here he is ....
... random funfact: he can't sit down his pants are too tight. Doll Lavi will never sit in a chair :'D this makes me laugh so much. Also I love how the sizes for him and Bookman turned out, it was such a good decision to get the small body for Bookman.
Still can't believe he is done. 1 1/2 years after I bought the first shell, a bit over a year after I got told he will not happen. I had given up on him to be honest.
For those who are interested, more insight babbling under the cut:
As I got the new head I was not sure if I could make it work for Lavi, the promotional photos were a bit blurred, I just hoped for the best. The arrival was not .. sparking much for me as he was just too tainted still. The thing I enjoy the most was making wigs and even that was kind of not working for him bc the fiber was weird to deal with. I decided to give him the body I originally bought for Kanda as the other one would mess up their heights, so he became a full doll earlier. As the body got shipped I painted the head and was still pretty bummed about it but I wanted to give it a try at least.
When I finally started working towards my emotional backlog regarding the dolls and wrote a blog entry about my 'tainted' dolls it somehow .. clicked for me? Like, I had painted the head short before I wrote the entry and I went the next day and repainted him, somehow I felt like the burden was gone and I started to bond with him???
January was a super intense doll month for me, I worked through more dolls than I did in the year prior, went down from overall 14 Work in Progress dolls to ... 6. That still baffles me a bit as majority was sewing and I don't even like sewing that much.
I got the first two days of February off and decided to give Lavi a try, he felt like a bottomless pit with all the details but somehow working on him, especially the harder parts, was ... okay? Like, yeah, it took forever bc it was so much hand stitching but as I went slow and had expierence from Lenalee & Bookman I was able to trust my skills.
On the third day as I cut the wig and put him next to my window for the almost final photos I just was in denial that he was done. I added the hammer then and ... I have a Lavi.
A doll I had given up upon, it feels like the "preorders of hell" are finally done, at least mentally, the whole situation, I feel like I am more free again. I enjoy having projects of course but it was a mental burden and it's almost gone.
Edit:
I have to say, now, 2 months after finishing him, getting in character photos of him done is hard as the face is limited and I kind of regret getting that body as it's just a brick. I'm glad though i swapped it as Kanda needs a body that allows more movement, Lavi in general is not the type for dynamic poses. Overall I still have to get used to him, but it's like that with a lot of dolls. The Storyteller needed 2 years :')
Someone at a con suggested I use something they called inner facing on my costume what does that mean?
Hello there!
I assume, since this was presumably spoken aloud, that the person meant "interfacing" -- the T can often be silent when spoken -- and not "inner facing," which is....I guess a thing? But no one talks about it like that.
(Also hopefully this was consensual feedback!)
Interfacing is a material used to add structure to other fabrics. It comes in various types and weights, and is a useful tool to have in your sewing arsenal.
These comes in a few types: woven/knit/non-woven, and fusible/non-fusible (sew in). Think of these like a D&D alignment chart, with the first grouping on one axis and the second grouping on the other axis. You can have woven fusible, knit fusible, woven non-fusible, etc. These each have different properties and uses.
Woven interfacing keeps the properties of a woven fabric, such as a grain line, for when that is needed in your project for extra stabilization on grain. You probably aren't going to use this type much. Same with knit interfacing, which has stretch to it. This one is also uncommon, but is useful for stabilizing necklines, armholes, cutouts, and other areas on stretch garments when you want to retain stretch. Non-woven is going to be the cheapest and most common option. It is made from basically compressed fibers, and doesn't have a grain line, so it doesn't matter which way you cut it (you can save money by fitting some oddly placed pieces on there!). If you use a woven or knit, be sure to prewash it to shrink it ahead of time. (Some say to do so with non-woven as well, but I've never had an issue.)
Non-fusible interfacing (sometimes called sew-in interfacing) is just that -- you sew it to the garment as a separate layer. This leaves the original hand of the fabric intact and doesn't risk extra wrinkling or glue seepage that can be caused from fusible, and can be used on fabrics that cannot be ironed. Fusible interfacing has a heat-activated glue on one side that you iron to the wrong side of your fabric. This increases the stiffness and body of the fabric itself, since the interfacing and the main fabric act as one. This is useful when you are using a fabric that is more slippery or without as much stiffness or strength as you need in the finished product. Be sure that when you iron it on, you use a pressing cloth to protect your iron, don't move the iron, just leave it in place until the glue melts, and most fusibles require steam.
Here is a quick and dirty chart I whipped up with the types:
(Graphic design is NOT my passion haha)
All types of interfacing are also on a sliding scale of weight or body, from lightweight to heavyweight. Interfacing can be as light as a whisper, just to add a small amount of body or to stabilize a fabric prone to stretching without adding much weight, or as heavy as fusible foams and other materials that will make your fabric rock solid (sometimes as stiff as cardboard). Use the weight suited to your project: lighter weights tend to work well for simply stabilizing an area that tends to stretch or backing a very drapey fabric you want to be less drapey, mid weights are good for things like waistbands and button plackets where you need more structure but not too much added stiffness, and heavy weights tend to be used for specialty applications.
See also: this helpful chart from Wawak that shows the types of interfacing they sell and what they are good for. Even if you don't buy from Wawak (though they're a great source of sewing supplies for cheap!), it can give you ideas on what to use for what and to help you know what you are looking at when you go into a fabric store and touch the interfacings. Honestly, touching fabrics is the best way to learn about them!
As for where you use interfacing, anywhere you need stabilization, really. Look inside the button plackets of your button up shirts and the waistbands of your pants and skirts if you can -- see that extra bit of material in there? That's interfacing! It creates a stiffer and more stable material for things like button plackets, waistbands, collars, and anywhere else you need a bit....more from your fabric. I'm assuming the feedback you got was on something where it's obvious, such as a waistband, where the fabric can easily bend out of shape due to the pressure and heat of the body, or a cutout, where the bias of the fabric can cause it to stretch out in one direction and become wavy or misshappen, or a collar, where the lack of stiffness compared to the rest of the garment would create a limp rather than crisp effect.
Here is a good general guide to interfacing that might have more information than I have here (idk I only skimmed it but it looks good).
If they did mean "inner facing" they are probably talking about a facing. This is basically a partial lining that is used to finish an edge, or in some cases, add body or stabilize an edge. This is a piece that is shaped to match the edge it is being sewn to, often slightly smaller so it rolls to the inside, and sewn to the edge and then flipped to the inside. Think: a piece of fabric shaped to fit a neckline and sewn/flipped to the inside to finish the edge without doing a full lining. (These are also common as part of a lining in garments like suit jackets.) Facings are useful for finishing edges that have odd shapes (such as necklines or armscyces), need to be stabilized (like knit openings or cutouts on a bias), areas that need a bit of extra body (such as the top yoke of a suit jacket), or areas where an edge has extra small bits of fabric sewn into it that are hard to finish otherwise (such as sailor collars). Perhaps coincidentally, facings are often interfaced.
I hope that helps! :]
Marjorine x reader p. 2
Previous part
Next part
'Leo?'
After you talked to Marjorine you felt happy that you finally had someone to talk to and hang out with. You didn't know what to really do. Do you text them whenever you wanted or only when it was important? It was new to you but you were open to trying to figure it all out.
You walked into school and look around seeing Marjorine at their locker. You slowly walked up to them and they instantly noticed you. They smiled and their eyes lit up when they saw you.
"Hey Y/N. How's your morning?" They asked with a bright smile.
"Um, h-hi. it's ok." You stuttered out making their smile slowly disappear.
"You're really nervous is that how you are with everyone?" They asked softly trying to make you more comfortable.
"Y-yeah b-because I don't talk to many people i-it's hard to not be nervous." You explain looking away. "Eye contact is hard too."
"We can definitely work on that. Don't work we'll go slow." They said with a smile. "How are you with physical contact?"
"I-I d-don't really like being touched." You say holding onto the strap of your backpack.
"Well, that's ok. Sometimes socializing and stuff is hard but don't worry I'll be a good teacher." They said taking your hand causing you to look up and see their eyes were huge and their wide smile.
You couldn't help but blush a bit. You liked them touching your hand and smiling at you like that. You had to look away after a few seconds you couldn't keep staring it just made you so nervous. It was like staring into the sun you just couldn't look for too long but they made you feel warm.
"That was 5 seconds!" They cheered smiling even wider. "That's not bad, and you haven't pulled your hand away. You're doing way better than you said."
Their praise made you blush harder. "T-thank you." You stutter out sheepishly. The bell rang signaling you to go to class, but Marjorie didn't let go of your hand.
"How about I keep holding your hand until you feel like you have to pull away ok?" They asked slowly walking to class hand and hand with you. "How about we talk about something to make you less nervous. When we talked about sewing yesterday you didn't stutter so maybe if we talk about it you'll loosen up."
You nod and walk hand in hand with them to class. "I started a new project last week and I'm almost done but I ran out of fabric for the skirt and I haven't been able to find it anywhere."
"Oh, what did it look like? Maybe we can go to the store after school today to see if they have it." They said walking into class with you and taking their seat but still holding your hand.
"That's what I was looking for yesterday and I didn't see any so I'm scared that maybe they won't get another shipment and I won't be able to finish." You say sitting in the seat next to him. You honestly completely forgot you were even holding their hand as you blabbed on about sewing.
"I'm sure we can find some don't worry." They said placing their head on their free hand.
"Hmm, I guess so. Thanks, Leo." You say smiling brightly at them making their face turn a light shade of pink.
You stayed quiet for a few seconds and it made you realize that you two were still holding hands. You became flustered once more and pulled your hand away.
"You did really good Y/N. That was like at least a few minutes." They praised making you blush and look away. You simply nodded in response.
The class went on normally but Kyle who had watched the entire interaction kept a close eye on Marjorine and you. When class ended Marjorine turned to talk to you but you quickly got out of your seat and left the room without saying bye. Marjorine let out a small sigh and smiled softly to themselves.
"I guess we'll work on that." They muttered to themselves.
"Hey, Butters." Kyle said walking up to him.
"Well hey, Kyle what's up?" They asked with a smile and gathered their things.
"Are you and the new girl dating?" He asked bluntly.
"Y-Y/N? N-no we aren't dating." They said blushing and looking away,
"You guys were holding hands and she called you Leo," Kyle said questioningly.
"O-oh I'm just helping her work on socializing." They said clearly becoming uncomfortable by the question.
"But why does she call you Leo? I thought you didn't like your name." He said
"I-I'm just trying it out." They said looking up at Kyle who had a confused look on his face. "I got to get to class talk to you later ok? Bye."
Marjorine quickly ran out of the class. Maybe it was the sudden questions but now they couldn't stop thinking about you. Would they want to date you? Would you date them? The idea of being with you didn't sound bad but they honestly didn't want to think about that right now.
After school you walk out of the front doors seeing Marjorine standing there and waving you over.
"Hey Y/N! You wanna head out to the store?" They asked smiling softly.
"Yeah I've been thinking and if they don't have the fabric out maybe they'll have some in the back." You say as you started walking with them.
"Oh and this will be great practice for you! You can ask the cashier to check for you." They said excitedly making you stop dead in your tracks and tremble.
"I-I have to talk to her?" You ask your voice shaking
"Hey don't worry we can practice before we get there." They said taking your hand.
The sudden contact made you even more nervous but when you looked up at them their smile put me at ease. You nod and walk with them to the store biting the inside of your cheek.
"Ok so pretend I'm the cashier ok? Just tell me what you would ask." They said.
"Ok." You say taking a deep breath. "H-Hi c-can you check to see if you have any of the silk blue fabric?"
"Perfect just take a deep breath and don't worry ok?" They said opening the door of the store for you.
You nod, letting go of their hand and walking inside. You slowly make your way to the fabric isle and look around not seeing the fabric you wanted.
"Hmm doesn't seem like it's here." Marjorine said with a frown.
"Does that mean I have to ask?" You ask nervously.
"Mhm but don't worry you'll do just fine and I'll be right next to you." They said with a smile.
You slowly walk to the cashier and clear your throat. "E-excuse me?"
The cashier turned around giving you a small smile. "What can I help you with?"
Marjorine stood back watching you talk to the cashier. They smiled as they watched the cashier leave to the back, and you stood there with a bright smile. Your smile made them blush a bit as they see how proud you are in yourself. You turn your head to face them, giving them a toothy smile.
Marjorine felt like their heart skipped a beat and her blush grew deeper. They held up a thumbs up and looked away. They touched their face and felt the heat.
"What's wrong with me?"
A/N: Hey guys hoped you liked this sorry I didn't post yesterday I wanted to change the way my fics first looked and so hopefully they look way better. And like I mentioned before I'm pretty new to tumblr so I didn't know people who reblogged my post before the change would look like the old version even after I changed it. But yeah idk im learning 🤧 so I encourage you guys to read my past fics once more because I did do some editing and especially to my stan fic so yeah. Also, I made a lil playlist for this series ofc you don't to listen to it but these are just some small songs that fit the vibe a bit imo. Uh NO, another UP!date!
Oi My Beloved Followers Friends!
I hope this New Year will be awesome amazing for all of You! No more depression from my side, I came with rock-hard facts!! :D
Let me begin with some infos what you gonna be see from me in the upcoming weeks:
- finished asks from my box (for example BeeFormers, Human Barricade, etc.)
- finished old projects, like:
1.) You can meet Mr Flimsy and find out the end of the story;
2.) See the last page of one of my fav comic sheets how Cross doubted OP;
3.) Follow my new skill I learn from tutos bc I am a home-person currently lol - this keychain plushie I am working on is Ezreal from the LoL band Heartsteel. My li'l Sis pushed me to make it, she designed the sheets for me about the keychain, which was only the background element of an official LoL art, so we had to plan everything for ourselves to own this plushie, call it to life cuz the merch does not exist yet:
Talking about plushies, I have my excuse for missing the whole december - not just my home-problems: I worked really hard to make her an Oliver Aiku plushie from her fav anime BlueLock - it was my first job, and I did not find the perfect fabrics in the shops, so as you'll see below, it is not my peak work, but I keep practicing to make BeeFormers plushies in the future. :)
It was not an option to keep ya'll updated, because at daytime while she's at school we talk via Tumblr chat, so I would unmask my secret with any post about it, and would definitely bust my own sorry-ass in a minute. ;D Also, I learned to make embodiery (!!!) - some fatass teardrops escaped from my eye, because I bet my granny laughed her ass off from Heaven: when I was a lazy teenager, I've never planned the learn things from her (though she was an official women's tailor), even She called me into her room, and now She has to see I am learning the same stuff from YT videos... hahaha... How the turntables...
I am so sorry I was a bit sad in the close past in comments, sometimes things pull me down - like missing friends I left behind the city; friends from abroad I cannot spend enough time with: sometimes it feels I am invisible, and everybody stepped over, and continue their lives, the challenges they meet day by day, and I don't fit in their lives anymore. It is hard to handle problems at home, while I just try to be happy, but others are unsatisfied with their own life, so they try to ruin others'... So nevermind, I just wanted to reach out to all of you, because I Love You SO MUCH, and I am greatful for following me on Tumblr and other sites (which I shall Update as well...), because you look after me, and never get tired to text me, ask me, love my drawings!!!
You're the reason this blog is still good and produces new and quite acceptable pictures! :D 💚🩵💙🖤
Down below you gonna see Oliver plushie step by step, and more is to come ( sadly I have got only two hands, so cannot draw and sew at the same time )!!!
Thank you for reading!
I love you all!!
Note: this was the sample I used:
And I started the embodiery of the eyes (peak of my life by Daph):
thanks for tagging me @distant-screaming <333
Current time: 12:18pm
Current activity: Making some tea 🫖
Currently thinking about: ...how I don't want to go to work today lol. I love what I do but today I feel yicky (hence the tea) so I'm not looking forward to leaving my house. Especially since I have to be there for an extra hour bc of a staff meeting.
Current favourite song: c'mon I don't do favorites 😭 I've been liking Ordinary by Tilly Birds a lot though! :D
Currently reading: Wish I had something interesting to put here but uh. I'm not currently reading anything.
Currently watching: The Shipper! This show is WACK. And I love it. It's just. So wild, and funny. Also, First's acting is literally SO good. The way he sells the body swap I just. AGH. Also cute lil Ohm is there. And Jennie. It's a good time and I appreciate how unpredictable it is. It's been my little happy evening watch lately.
Current favourite character: I think this was my answer last time I got tagged in one of these but. Ray from Only Friends. He's just so!! <3
Current WIP: I have a few fanvids in progress. Not gonna say they're still going at a promising pace but, I want them to be done so bad! I have a really fancy fun edit going to New Rules for SandRay & NickBoston. I also have a Buffy Summers edit going.
Aside from that I have a few fics but—while I certainly haven't given up on them—I'm not sure I'd call them WIPs considering the amount of time it's been since I last touched them.
Other things I've been working on include writing down Thai words I know on flashcards, which has been a fun if time-consuming process! It's a personal goal of mine to work on learning Thai. I've actually never learned a second language but have always wanted to, so it's rather special to me! I don't know a ton yet but I'm proud that I haven't given up on it. And it's honestly so satisfying when I'm watching something or listening to music and realize I understood something small without having to read subs, or understand a teeny tiny joke that wouldn't come across in English.
Besides that, I was doing a giant WIP in October which I didn't get that far on, but that's making the floofy Wednesday Addams dress. I've at least finished drafting a really nice fitted undershirt and making most of the detailed leather belt with a thick pleather material I had—it just needs to be assembled but I didn't do that bit yet bc my sewing machine was having issues for a while there (anyway I cut out 110 little shapes for the belt by hand with an xacto knife bless my SOUL). Hopefully I'll get back to the project when I'm feeling more energetic again!
Alright, tagging some lovely mutuals :D @lamonnaie @softpran @celestial-sapphicss @justafriend-ql @firstkanaphans @khaofirsts
If you're still doing prompts,could I ask for one from the sick fic prompts, for Flippy and Splendid,with the prompt where one of them keeps falling asleep because they're just too tired,or something like that.Thank you,love your work!
of course! prompts (as well as asking me about headcanons, asking questions to get an in character answer, or popping into the inbox to just chat) will always be open for me to do :D
funny how i finished writing this one on the third day in a row of Extremely Fucked Up Sleep Schedule and while my grandmother has been sick. (i should go to be after this)
It felt like taking care of one's sick partner was a very… ‘boyfriend’ thing to do. It was also another aspect of helping people, so it was a no-brainer that Splendid came over to Flippy's house when he found out he wasn't feeling too well.
Of course, it was also a bit of a pain considering that Flippy was surprisingly stubborn about not wasting the day doing nothing but resting. Splendid certainly understood getting restless and worrying about productivity, and he was definitely no stranger to pushing himself at times, but he still wanted for Flippy to just rest, at least while he was there. Perhaps he was a hypocrite, but if it was for the sake of his boyfriend's health, he had to be one.
Splendid had started up a pot of soup as soon as he'd arrived and, now that it was finished, he put some in a bowl. He carefully carried it over to the dining room table, before carefully raising his voice to call out. “Flip! Soup's on the table!”
It was louder than he intended, as often happened, but not loud enough to burst anyone's eardrums, hopefully. Splendid sighed, cursing his own lack of control over his own abilities. A slight groan reached his ears, however, and he stepped out of the room to see Flippy groggily rubbing his eyes.
“Sorry, I think I was on the verge of falling asleep,” Flippy murmured, gently setting his sewing project off to the side as he got up. “You said the soup is done, right?”
Splendid nodded, motioning for Flippy to follow him into the kitchen. As the green haired man sat down and offered thanks, he smiled. “Not a problem. Careful though, it's hot.”
A small laugh turned into a series of coughs, before Flippy picked up the spoon and blew on the soup it held. Splendid watched carefully, ready to get up and get a towel should a coughing fit cause his boyfriend to spill any. He was about to ask if Flippy wanted any tea with honey, before he noticed slow, drowsy blinks turning into Flippy dozing off mid-meal.
“Oh, careful!” Splendid gasped, catching him as he slumped and stopping him from face-planting straight into hot soup.
Flippy's eyes shot open, and he let out a small breath as he regained his composure, offering Splendid a grateful look. “I… guess I started drifting off again. Sorry,” he murmured hoarsely.
The cyan haired man chuckled at that, letting go and watching the other begin to eat again. His gaze was more watchful, knowing that it could happen again. “I think you're more tired than you realize, Flip.”
Swallowing a spoonful of soup, Flippy frowned. “I guess…” he murmured, trailing off.
“Getting enough rest will make you feel better sooner, so how about after you eat, you go to sleep for a little while? As long as there aren't any emergencies, I'll stick around and I'll come right back if there are. Just in case you need me, okay?” Placing a hand on Flippy's shoulder, Splendid gave him a gentle smile, trying to encourage him that it really was okay to do so.
A series of coughs, a sigh, and a nod later, Splendid knew that Flippy had agreed. When he had eaten all he could stomach, the green haired man stood up, a little wobbly due to dizziness. The other followed suit, letting Flippy lean on him as he led him to his bed and tucked him in.
“Sleep well,” Splendid murmured softly, brushing sweat-soaked bangs aside and placing a kiss on the other's forehead. “Let me know if you need anything.”
Before he had even left the room, he could already hear the slight purring sound that the other made when sleeping. Splendid smiled softly as he gently closed the door, making his way to the living room and sitting down.
Mission accomplished.
WIP Wednesday -2023 Mar 29
[4/12 - this was in drafts, sorry friends!!!]
I am planning to work on WIP Wed every other week for the purposes of my sanity. Sometimes, pushing for progress is not really the way to go, and I will admit that last week was emotionally not my finest. As such, having a looming progress counter was not in my best interests. Especially since I finished a thing and then frogged the thing immediately after (more about that at a later date). So instead, consider this a biweekly check in. :D
If you were wondering, I did finish the St. Paddy's doily. I just didn't have pictures together.
After frogging the unspecified project, I was desperate to have something quick and easy for the purposes of being able to say I finished a thing, so I did complete these herringbone half double crochet fingerless gloves. This is a super easy way to make them - literally work up any rectangle long enough to go around your wrist and hand, then sew up the sides together leaving space for the thumb.
I made a rookie mistake though and had two hooks with similar colors sitting next to each other, and so they ended up being worked in two different sizes! Not too far off though. 6.5 mm and 5.75mm. They'll do.
With those done - here's my current number
WIP Count: 5 3 crochet, 1 knit, 1 Tunisian crochet
After some mild pushing from my bff, decided to go ahead and make a platform to show off my creations/work. Steve, my black cat, was also in high demand. I suspect he will take up 90% of this blog. xD To kick things off, here is one of the two hats I made earlier this year. The first picture is trouble sitting on top of said hat while it was in progress. He thought it was for him and promptly made himself comfortable. I eventually got it out from under him and finished it off! :D Hand made the little puff ball on top too with the left over yarn. Was super proud of myself since this was the first project I started with in relearning how to crochet. The pattern is basically single stitched rows to make a panel, that then got sewed together to make a tube, that then got closed at one end to make the hat.
EVALUATION:
Throughout this project, I have gained a lot of skills that are useful for me in the future because they will help me. For example one of the skills I gained was using a sewing machine although at first I had a hard time using it; however after some trial and errors I was able to learn how to use it. I made a test piece to test out the machine and see how it will go ok the material I was using with the foil.
The pros of this project was that I was able to explore a range of techniques and was able to generate different ideas of how I wanted my final outcome to look like. For example I looked at many artists that did similar work whether they created emotional or textile work. I was able to map out exactly what I wanted my work to be like and what I would need to bring my idea to life. I have Improved a lot since the beginning I was able to gain a new skill which is a benefit for me.
On the other hand, I had many cons as well while executing this project I faced many challenges. The first challenge was how I would sew the 24 hour clock times on the fabric; I had my foil stencils ready but I didn’t think about how I would sew them on the long fabric using the sewing machine. For this problem I came up with a solution of buying the same or as similar material to the fabric as possible. Then I cut 24 strips the same size as my foil stencils giving me room to sew on and I used those 24 pieces to input my times on. The second challenge I faced was not being able to sew at home, since the machine I was using at home kept on breaking the foil and did not have the pattern I needed. My last problem I faced was the time I had to finish my project, sewing on the 24 hour clock times took me the longest to complete which did not give me enough time to work on the rest of my piece. This is the reason that I don’t have a final piece on my tumblr; however I have the process of the 24 hour times I made and what my idea was clearly shown on my blog.
ETHICS:
While creating my work and planning my design, I thought of how I could keep my work ethical. The first ethical thing to do was not to copy anyone else’s work as that would not be fair on that person and it would be classed as cheating. However using other people’s work as inspiration was ethical as it helped me generate my own ideas and expand on my original idea after looking at an artists work.
Another thing I made sure to do is communicate to my peers with manners, as I was not alone working in the space and had other people working beside of me. I made sure to help out if any of my peer needed some help or guidance on what they wanted to do. This helps me in the future also when I am working in the industry, to be professional and behave with my coworkers respectfully. Alongside this I always made sure to clean out the space I was working at so whoever used the space while I was not there didn’t have to worry about the clutter and it was ethical to do.
HEALTH AND SAFETY:
While working on my project there was a lot of safety issues I had to think about, I had to make sure I was being safe with the equipment I used. When using the sewing machine, I made sure to keep aside from everyone else so no one tripped over any of the wires as it would be dangerous. I also made sure to keep the scissors and pins away from my fingers while using the machine so they would not cut me.
Another thing I made sure to do was always keep my foot away from the foot pedal of the machine when I was fixing up the material in the machine. This was to prevent the machine from starting and so the needle in the machine would not cut me. I also always had my fingers away a decent amount from the foot of the machine when I was seeing anything this was so it would not hit my fingers.
When using scissors to cut out my fabrics I always made sure to never point the scissors at anyone and always cut at a table so it would be safer and no one including myself could get hurt. These were the safety issues I dealt with during my project.
ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT:
To be environmentally safe, I used fabric that was thrown out in the fashion department as a large factor of my base where my emotion work would go on. I also am going to use their materials for my emotions and find different textures as it is environmentally friendly and recycling the materials that I use. I also made sure to use the left over foil that no one would use to create my numbers so it would not go to waste. These were the things I made sure to do as they were environmentally safe and also more convenient to me as well.
