who up seeing their disorder in a fictional character but feel like its not their place to put a name on it

#id have to be waterboarded before i can talk abt how i see a lot of my adhd and personality in mitsumi iwakura let alone post it #idk how to talk abt this without feeling like im talking over or invalidating ppls experiences relating with a character #someone was talking abt how ppl tie laios' autism to special interest and social difficulties but not much else which kinda flattens it #and then went into a respectful in depth analysis of other autistic behaviour that laios exhibits and it wasnt phrased meanly #its fascinating and important to me to hear someone explain a little bit abt traits that they recognized and often go overlooked #because it does help me learn more about it. but i think thats also where hesitancy kicks in when it comes to depicting it accurately #like i have adhd and some of my adhd symptoms overlap with autism (time blindness and pattern seeking behaviour) but that only means #it feels familiar to me even without having autism. on top of that traits arent always cleanly determined as being /caused/ by #a disorder. to understand my environment i compare it to something unrelated but similar to make it more familiar and for the longest time #i thought that was a personality thing and not an information processing thing since i loved playing pretend in my head as a kid #so if you make a character who experiences that hoping to reach people that also experience that and tell them its not weird or #smth youre making up like. thats the goal. ppl who dont get it arent expected to it just means it doesnt cater to them but it helps them #become familiar to it yk? since i dont have autism myself i dont feel confident i can depict it properly or explain it in my own words #but that doesnt mean im trying to dismiss it or try and cut it out completely.. ill just leave the floor open to someone who /can/#a lot of issues around fanon depictions are when smth is baselessly popularized or a characters personality and behavior is flattened #especially to fit them into a trending meme. its harmless and its supposed to be for fun but it gets tricky when you drag things that #need to be carefully explained beforehand or else it gets lost in translation. like that tweet abt 'hyperfixating' on cooking pasta #once it becomes popular language usually the original meaning is left out for the sake of simplifying it for everyone that when it #circles back theres a sort of hesitancy like. am i using it the way it was intended or am i unknowingly using the popularized version of it #actually thats probably why i felt wrongfooted during diagnosis bc it felt like i was misusing the words i heard to describe what i felt #i /know/ i see a lot of myself in mitsumi because our minds are always somewhere else and we tend to put good faith first and for me #that personal connection is enough. but idk it feels like its always gonna have to be 'palatable' first before i can talk abt it openly #mad respect to writers and creators who stick to their story even if theres the looming fear of ppl misinterpreting it and letting them #have it.. its been almost 2 weeks and i am so close to deleting that m3 dunmeshi drawing bc ppl keep saying chilchuck wouldnt have 200 HP #IT LITERALLY SAYS I MADE IT WHILE WATCHING EP 1. it honestly frustrates me when i see people reduce the ericsons cast down to "just some teens in the woods" acting like theyre no different than any other group of lone teenagers from other existing properties and treating them like an overused trope

it is sooo important to acknowledge the "troubled youth" aspect of the whole equation. theyre not just some random teens in the woods clem stumbles across. these kids were abandoned by their families for their various "difficulties" and fucked up by The System before the outbreak even began. and then once zombies started roaming the streets their familes never came back for them and the adults that were in charge of taking care of them just left them there to rot in that old boarding school (except for ms martin who was like their lee 🥺 the only person who ever saw them as the scared traumatized kids they were and died protecting them)

the whole aspect of them already being fucked up by the adults that controlled their lives is like.....kind of important when discussing the whole "delta is stealing kids to force them to fight in a war they have no real part in and want nothing to do with" aspect of the season. and its important when comparing them to clem and her journey of also suffering at the hands of the adults around her forcing her to become self reliant. AND its important when discussing the "just trying to build a safe home (and future) worth fighting for in this world that wants them dead" aspect of the season as well

these kids were forced to come together to survive. and a Lot of them didnt... theyre the only family they have left and you can tell that even when they argue with each other theyre still a close knit group who looks out for each other. theyre a Real family before clem even gets there (and its why what really happened with the twins and brody and marlon hits them all so especially hard)

all of this is what REALLY makes ericsons such a perfect home for clem. its a Real community of her True peers. theyre not Just teens. they mightve had a layer of safety clem never had by at least having walls to keep them safe. and having the benefit of the school being hard to find. its the only reason theyre still alive when clem shows up. but theyre also some of the only people who can Truly understand where clem and aj are coming from. and its why it hurts so much when they vote to kick them out. but its also partially why she merges back into the fold so easily when she returns. plus the fact that shes Really the only one who has any idea what shes doing. shes their rock and she makes them feel safe because underneath it all theyre still just those scared traumatized kids ("EVERYONE is scared, clem..." vi was Definitely including herself in that 'everyone'), and on some level, so is clem

they saved clementines life. and she saved theirs. "the school was supposed to help them with their trauma, now they help each other" its about the LOVE the COMMUNITY the SUPPORT!!!! and thats the shit that makes good zombie media honestly 👌

rewatching 13s era for me is not so much diminishing returns as it is something opposite and eviler...............increasing losses? increasing losses

I'm just a girl standing in front of the Elena of Avalor S3 timeline begging for it to make even a little logical sense.

#elena of avalor #honestly the only way it does is if we assume that the various avaloran holidays take place in radically different months #than their real-world counterparts #like if we assume that carnaval matches its real world equivalent #"the magic within' takes place in feb-march #but the very next episode is the final dias de los muertos one #which by real world standards is beginning of november #so you're telling me that after the massive fallout of carnaval; absolutely nothing happened for like 7-10 months(!)#and then pretty much all of the next few important episodes happen b/w Nov and Dec (assuming hannukah is also at its real world time)#so like elena spends an intense period of like 1-2 months being just completely fixated on esteban #(i mean girl; same but come on)#after having spent like nearly a year forgetting he even exists?#and then has her nice little winter holiday break #and forgets about him for a month or two in between #only to just suddenly without much logical reason just become obsessed w/ him and ash again for an ep or two #and then forgets about him again #because the plot demands it #i mean like tbf all the flores cousins read to me as neurodivergent to some degree #so i guess it makes a little sense that she'd fall in and out of hyperfocus and get distracted by other fun things #but like i feel like the situation is a bit more intense/important/demanding than just a regular special interest waxing and waning a bit #i mean the real answer is that at least some of the filler episodes were aired waaaayyy out of order #maybe we're meant to see carnaval as not actual carnaval time? but like a big random party in like july or aug??#so like elena still ignores the plot for way too long but at least its like less than 6 months and not more #and it is making plotting s3 era fic very very hard #since it's very tricky to find the right spot to set things

i had a long conversation w my sister about how the whole car thing in ep 6 is truly so pointed and insane like lestat got a car for louis and himself but not claudia even tho LESTAT was the one that taught her to drive so it's not like she doesn't how, it's just that he's not willing to extend that level of freedom/autonomy towards her. he would never give her a car of her own, she will always have to ask one of them to drive her or she'll just have to walk

#i also wonder about when lestat learned to drive #my personal headcanon is he learned to drive by watching louis bc in ep 1 he only walks and in the ep 2 louis's the primary driver #but by ep 4 lestat takes over that role so i think it's like how sam reid said that lestat's a mimic and can learn things via observation #he watched louis drive for a few months and was like i think i got the hang of this and then never let louis drive again #i would say he probably thought of it like a favor at the beginning like don't worry about it i'll drive you ☺️#but then it became an angle of control that louis didn't even realize he gave up #anyway: cars #vampterview

not 2 be a "bad" "feminist" but like. okay I know the guy who plays Nate is problematic and etc, but like. like I tried to like Leverage Redemption, but it just. is too flanderized and doesn't quite manage to like both write real-feeling characters nor grasp the charm that made Leverage "work" for me, so like. watching Leverage Redemption mostly has me wincing, and like. does not hold the same place in my heart that Leverage does....

#the thing about leverage redemption for me is #is everyone is just. too 2d #and it has the same problem of sequels where it's like. it takes place in the future so it feels like it *should*#progress from where we left things off??#but instead it like. has to regress things back at least a few steps so there's a place to go again #and it's just. doesn't do it for me #and also the characterization feels so flanderized. it feels like when ur reading the popular fic in a fandom #where it's like. so fanon heavy. and everyone has like 1 or 2 flanderized character traits....#and even the baddies in leverage redemption feel too 2d #like. even the most 2d of the leverage baddies was at least 2.5d. like they threw an extra thing in there that made them feel more 'real'#idk man idk!!! I just. would rather rewatch leverage for the character writing and the plot #it's just. Leverage Redemption also somehow manages to create more problems in like the sj-issues axis #that somehow leverage didn't have despite very much also being a product of its time #like sorry leverage redemption but the problem with making the indian guy the bad guy in that episode #is that you positioned parker as the one diametrically against him #and she's like. a blond White Woman playing old money 8)#like at least in the sweatshop ep of Leverage the 'main client' was a Chinese rep of a Chinese advocacy group #advocating for a Chinese woman who was being taken advantage of #urhghghghghghghg #maybe if I take another look at Leverage Redemption I will find it charming instead of cringely try-hard lmao... :')#sorry to be so mean to Leverage Redemption but the attempts at namedropping character beats just came off too flanderization :')#and poorly placed :') to me :')#*

magical girl transformation but theres no pretty lights or sparkles just grotesque and blood curling body mutation layered by the sounds of joints cracking bones snapping and muscles twisting unnaturally and she looks like a normal magical girl at the end

#unfortunately she IS still humanoid but her transformation being body horror is very much still a thing especially come season two #she has a berserk mode where she just goes literally feral and cuts cities in half and shit #even when transformations in this series aren't body horror they're pretty great (minus kirika's in season 5 that one is big squick)#hibiki's the only user whose transformation device is internal (long story) but some gear users need to take Music Steroids #otherwise they disintegrate on a molecular level due to improper synchronization #would you believe me if I said this is one of the most genuinely hopeful recent magical girl series #hibiki is also just. a genuine sweetheart and a great protagonist. she can be a lil thick-headed but she's so so sweet and good at punching #also there's a team dad he's great I wish he'd gotten to fight Adam.#season 1's animation has some wonky animation outside of fights but that goes away almost immediately in season 2.#each season is only like 12 eps and they go by pretty fast. lotta punching #also their mechs are powered by singing. sometimes they scream lyrics while overexerting themselves #it slaps #so sorry for symphoposting #Youtube

I think it's interesting how absolutely amazing it was to watch Yuri on Ice while it aired but then that I have not watched it since. There are just series that make such an impression on you that you don't rewatch it?

#the pyre #I started writing a mcd fic like 3 years ago when I watched all of aphs roleplays that I liked as a child #that takes place within the timeframe of after the whole eastern wolf village arc but before Katelyn's introduction/before the Irene stuff #like the three eps between the two events when it felt like a slice of life anime #but real quick I wanna talk about some stuff thats on my mind #the shadow knights have to be the WORST villains of all time all their plans are stupid and they fail ALL the time #like why give Aphmau baby levin? why try to poison her by throwing a potion at her from 100 miles away?#and most importantly why follow her to a remote village no one even knows only to attempt to poison her in the same way that didnt work b4 #literally just snapped her neck or smth and be done with it?#also I rly don't know why jess had such a major tonal shift between seasons 1 and 2 #I remember being extremely unhappy with season 2 bc I was a middle schooler like a lot of her audience #and had to watch this silly minecraft lets play with some roleplay turn into this like #sorta melancholy but mostly depressing series where all the characters we liked have grown apart #bc we timeskipped 15 YEARS #like no wonder mystreet and pdh are so popular bc they're higher quality and (from what I've seen) mostly fun comedy series #I still stand by what I said though I wish she's stop this brainrot slop she makes now and go back to her quality roleplays #hoping that characters like garroth and Katelyn being in recent eps means that they've reprieved their old roles #and hopefully we get something like her old stuff soon
