the first night eddie and chris are home, chris has gone to bed, and buck and eddie are in the kitchen nursing their second beers. "so," buck says, "ballroom dancing?" he's smirking, but there's bite to it, like he's poking at eddie, forcing them closer to an edge to prove they won't fall off. and eddie groans, but he's saying "fuck off, it's actually hard. you'd suck at it." and that gets buck, he knew it would, lights the competitive fuse that never seems to run out. buck says "oh yeah? teach me then," and eddie says "your funeral." and he pulls buck into his arms, moves his hands where they're supposed to go, and maybe it's closer than they're used to but they haven't been in the same room in so long, it's barely satisfying. buck isn't letting it feel intimate, anyway, with how focused he is, how rigid. eddie tells him rigidity is not helping, but. that doesn't help either. and after a while of buck stumbling through different styles and stepping on eddie's feet, buck is pouting and eddie is laughing at him, and eddie says, "god, you're hopeless. just, fuck off, come here." and he pulls buck closer, puts buck's arms around his neck and wraps his own around buck's waist. "think you can handle this? just a little sway back and forth, barely a step." and maybe buck is just tired, but the tension and rigidity finally melt away, and they're swaying. and buck's eyes are big and wet and his cheeks are pink and his lips are bitten red with frustration. and maybe this worked better than eddie planned.

I do think Tim Drake stans are shooting themselves in the foot tbh.

There's all these fics, jokes and content about him. Yet none of it is focused on the nuance of the character? Like, it is all so superficial!

Listen, I'll be the first to admit I don't know Tim all that much. But I feel like there's really interesting facets about his character and NO ONE talks about them.

Like the whole thing with his dad? The man is killed while under Tim's protection. One of Tim's biggest traumas is that even as Robin, with all his training and wit and experience, he couldn't save his dad. He wasn't fast enough, he was the Robin that failed... Where's that in fanon? Nowhere. We're more focused in making Jack Drake this caricature of a neglectful parent.

"Oh, Damian is sad because he's the Robin Batman didn't choose" WRONG. That is Tim's insecurity. Damian feels inadequate because of his past. Tim feels inadequate because he wasn't given the mantle of Robin, he took it.

He had to convince practically everyone in his life to let him be Robin. And when he was, he failed, lost his dad, Stephenie, Conner, everyone.

Tell me that's not better angst material than him being Bruce's emotional support kid after Jason (Fanon btw).

And that's not even touching on how fandom gets his personality wrong.

"Tim was a shy kid and afraid to speak in front of adults" Bitch, Tim stood in front of Koriand'r 6'4" ass and demanded to know where Dick Grayson was. When he showed Nightwing those stalker-pics he was proud. He put on that Robin suit and went after Two-face with no training. Wdym shy? Wdym afraid?

"Oh Jason went to beat Tim to the tower—" And Tim was beating that bitch back! Jason had him bloody and defeated on the floor, asks him "You think you're so good now?", and Tim straight up says "Yes I am!". Where's that brawl in fanon? Nowhere.

Fandom either writes Tim as this scapegoat, punching bag type of character for the sake of pity tears and cheap angst. Or completely flawless and perfect, disregarding all that makes him interesting... It pisses me off so much. NO ONE LIKES CHARACTERS LIKE THAT. If y'all continue no new fans will be interested in Tim, and DC won't do anything with him, y'all are y/n-ing your fav out of existence!

IDK y'all I just think Okami portrays a very interesting mutual relationship between the gods of its world and the people who believe in them. It's all but outright said that a god is only as strong as the worship it receives, and when the people's belief in the gods starts to wane, they start growing weaker. It's even reflected in the mechanics: the resource you use to make your health/ink/etc stronger is praise. When you arrive in mortal Nippon, worship is at a low, and you are nowhere near the glory you used to be, and only through spending the Praise you get along the way do you start to actually level up and feel like the god you're meant to be.

But it's not all on the people to be worshipping the gods. The relationship is mutual: when people feel the gods don't show themselves in things not 'big enough' to warrant their presence, they start regulating them to things of fairy tale and legend, only praying to them in times of strife and when they're 'needed', and not often in between. And sure, the main quests give you enough praise to get you up from ground zero and get you over the proverbial finish line. But the only way you can max out your stats--reach that level of godhood you know you can be-- is to put in the effort to do some of the sidequests too.

Errands as nothing more than that Weird Dog running around town. Blooming trees and plants with no one around to watch you. Hell, even feeding animals that don't once speak back in your tongue. Praise no one is giving you because a favor was asked first. Praise out of gratitude for making the world just a little bit better, even when it's outside of what's expected from a god of your station.

If you find ways to show that you love the world you look after, the world will show that it loves you back.

And that is what makes you truly powerful.

Just over 500 words of the deaged!SQQ concept that stole my soul yesterday while i was trying to work. Not quite feeling the vocal tic(s) here but I didn't wanna write baby talk. I'm thinking Binghe is about 16 15here, and Shizun has been made about 4.

Honestly, Shen Qingqiu had been thinking immediately before everything went to shit, My disciples know what they're doing; they don't need me.

And then the demon in question flung a spell with a frankly alarming amount of qi powering it at Luo Binghe, and of course Shen Qingqiu was the closest person to be able to help deflect, sticky thing that his Binghe was, and really, he'd intended to throw up a shield as soon as he got into position, but the spell was moving so much more quickly than anything else the demon had done so far, and, and, and --

Shen Qingqiu hit the ground. He felt Luo Binghe immediately leap over his position and sling two sword glares in the same movement, not a Qing Jing form but damn impressive. At least two more disciples took position surrounding where Shen Qingqiu was incapacitated -- covered in a blanket, maybe? He thought Ming Fan was the one breaking formation to get in close, based on the wordless yell and rapid footsteps, as all his disciples on this trip redoubled their efforts to take the creature down, hurling vincentives that Shen Qingqiu is sure he's never heard anyone utter since he died, cough cough. Shen Qingqiu knew his disciples would need guidance, the demon was apparently far more powerful than they'd given it credit for, but first he needed to see what the damage was, and if he would be in the way.

His head popped out of its covering triumphantly, just in time to see the demon be bisected vertically by a sword glare from the group next to him -- Binghe or Yingying, based on the warm tone -- and from behind by Ming Fan's sword.

Ah, well. He had just been thinking what good hands he was in.

"A-Yuan thinks this might be a very good lesson in not letting your guard down around an enemy, even if you think you have their measure," a childish lisp announced from his approximate location. Huh. He'd been trying to say 'this master' but that is not what came out of his mouth. "Also, A-Yuan thinks that spell was a very nasty trick, and is afraid to look down."

From the general direction of down, an open palm smacked him in the rough vicinity of his face.

Shen Qingqiu -- Shen Yuan, he must suppose-- looked down.

The face he saw bore a striking resemblance to the one he had seen in the mirror every day since he'd died, and, he suspected, an even more striking resemblance to the one he currently wore.

"Noisy," complained the Original Goods, because honestly, who the hell else could it be? The child -- if Shen Yuan had to guess, perhaps they were four or five years old, presuming he was just as deaged as the boy in his arms -- was naked except for the Peak Lord appropriate robes they were both loosely draped in, and was burrowing further into Shen Yuan's chest. "Xiao Jiu is trying to sleep."
