i don't necessarily want to turn people away or make them upset by not talking to them, but I have found that today I have just about enough energy for one person. that person is me
keeping up with myself is a chore already and I don't think I can handle any more than that right now T-T

i genuinely don't care how good a piece of ai generated art or writing looks on the surface. i don't care if it emulates brush strokes and metaphor in a way indistinguishable from those created by a person.
it is not the product of thoughtful creation. it offers no insights into the creator's life or viewpoint. it has no connection to a moment in time or a place or an attitude. it has no perspective. it has no value.
it's empty, it's hollow, and it exists only to generate clicks (and by extension, ad revenue.)
it's just another revolting symptom of the disease that is late stage capitalism, and it fucking sucks.

"Why is everyone always so concerned with how much dick I suck? You know what? I don't think you suck enough dick! Because if you did, you'd probably be cooler!"
I can't believe I've drawn Molly and Arackniss before most of the main cast

I’m… neither of the previous anons, but— twentieth century history, if you would?
Still way too broad, but I don't have any fight left in me. The Warmth of Other Suns: The Epic Story of America's Great Migration by Isabel Wilkerson is one of the best history books of the past few decades. If it had just been the sum total of fifteen years of oral histories (over a thousand, iirc) and rigorous archival research—dayenu!—it would have still impressed, but Wilkerson took all those interviews and distilled them into the personal narratives of three different African Americans who left the South during the Great Migration; if she had only given us their stories and presented the research and historical perspective in the context of this barely recognized 70 year migration of six million people—dayenu!—it would have still been a massive achievement; but Wilkerson also put the Great Migration into larger contexts, constantly reflecting the way it shapes the present and future.

I feel like the real philosophical divide on that robot/clone poll is between the people having some sort of existential identity crisis about free will and Selfhood and so on, and those of us looking at our mortal shell and going 'who would build THIS on purpose'

once again people taking my post(s) about jade as... me not being able to handle an evil woman character? ??? are we all stupid? i talk about jade the way i do because there is a prevailing notion in this damn fandom that she's done nothing wrong. people scream "i love evil women!!!!!!" and "girlboss!!!!!!!" and refuse to engage with her actions in the story on any other level and it results in this bizarre mischaracterization of her where she's, ironically enough, no longer evil. like if you love evil women so much why... why do you keep uneviling them every time we get one in a story. hello? it's so dark in here

hi im politely asking for you to take down your response to my post, i do not want the kind of attention i am receiving. thank you
*sigh* I was going to draft a response to your first response to my reblog yesterday, but it's been a weird and stressful couple of days for me and I didn't want to accidentally snap at you because I didn't have the brain space to give the conversation the respect and attention it deserves, so I delayed it to today, and it appears that may have come off as me being rude and ignoring you. For that I apologize; that was not my intent.
I'm sorry that a couple of people have been rude to you in the tags on that post. I also apologize if my response came off as harsh or hostile in any way; as I noted in that initial reblog, I've been seeing a lot of people saying with their whole chest that alterhuman just means nonhuman, and the frequency is getting frustrating, but that's not your fault and the frustration might have unfairly spilled over into my tone. It seems from some of your more recent reblogs like it might've just been a misphrase, but it's hard to tell, so I didn't want to assume it was - and in any case, the explanation and example list was for anon as much as it was for you. I wasn't trying to attack or "rag on" you at all, and I don't think most of the people leaving tags agreeing with me were either, though obviously I can't speak for them. I was just trying to prevent misinformation from spreading - because even if you didn't mean "alterhuman = nonhuman," if that's how it read to me, it's probably how it read to an anon who has no way of knowing better, and that's how people come away actually thinking that's what the word means.
With that being said, I'm going to politely decline to delete my reblog of that post. I won't answer in further reblogs (unless you address me directly, of course) and thus won't bump it any further up my blog, but the existing reblog has already been up for two days and reblogged by multiple people; anyone who was going to see it on their dashboard from my blog has probably already seen it, so deleting it won't actually accomplish decreasing the people responding in your notes. All it will do is get rid of the clarification of potential misunderstanding, which I honestly don't really want to do when it won't do any good. If the post keeps causing you problems, turning off reblogs would probably do more to get rid of that problem than my deleting my response would; you should be able to do that in the edit interface on any post, at least on desktop (I'm never sure how mobile works exactly lol). (And that's a reversible change where deletions are not, to boot.)

TO PREFACE. this post is ONLY about the people who openly boast about this and act like they're better than people who do wear masks. the rest of you, drink some water and I love you okay?
I'm so so tired of seeing people SO PROUD of the fact that they refuse to wear a mask. it is such a small, small inconvenience to you but its so important to you that you prolong the pandemic and cause more suffering and death. when you parade your ignorance around I want you to remember this number:
6,910,810
thats the number of deaths from covid-19. that's the total number of people who have died because of the virus as of August 29 2023. it's repulsive how you don't even stop to think about the elderly, those with autoimmune diseases, the already sick or disabled who have such a high chance of dying if they are exposed to even one person with the virus. My dad is now disabled from long covid. he hasn't been able to ride his bike, his favourite activity in the world, for over half a year. and he's one of the least affected by the virus. My friend (no longer around) with an autoimmune disease could not travel for three years because aeroplanes were such a high risk zone for her because people weren't wearing masks in such close proximity.
please I am begging you. inconvenience yourself. people are dying.
I know the death toll is dwindling and thats fantastic but it's not over yet.

I'm always bewildered by fictional relationships where an ex is characterized in such a way that is clearly framed in a way that wants you to side with the POV character, but the circumstances are like, "Honestly, your ex is fully valid in this situation and I hope they find someone who deserves them because you sure didn't."

it's very funny (in a sad and ironic way, not a humorous one) that some people of any minority group (being a person of color, being lgbtq+, etc) decide to become conservative, or worse. like, oh, you're going to side with the Leopards Ate My Face party? coooooooool. definitely unrelated to that, did you know that a surprisingly large amount of conservative christians still believe that atheists eat babies? just wondering if you knew that. do you really want to spend the rest of your life wondering when "your people" will turn on you the second you make a mistake? do you regret turning away from the people who cared about and loved you? do you feel alone and hypervigilant? you should. maybe you've taken the wrong path. sorry about that, but it seems like you're not gonna change your mind.
do you ever wonder when the other shoe will drop?
i do.

Whenever I get super stressed out or upset, I have to fight the urge to cut myself off from literally everyone and avoid every single form of contact I can. Which seems like a distinctly unproductive reflex to have when bad things happen

listen i will always support the idea that being mean to complete strangers based on their appearance is bad actually.
like yeah the patriarchy sucks and should totally be dismantled! but how the fuck is being an asshole to individual people because of a trait they can't help going to like... do that? you don't know shit about kevin on the street corner. you have no idea if he's a feminist or not. all you know about kevin is that he fits your definition of what a man looks like.
frankly i think there's a lot of "leftists" out there who just want there to be a group it's okay to lash out at because they're scared
