that’s sad.. absolutely, but that’s not why i’m- and i think a lot of us - are upset.

i’m hurt because i watched a sector of this fandom devolve into some of the most vile behaviour i’ve ever seen in fandom because some of us dared step outside of the hive mind and decide to ship a person with two people.

which then devolved into some of the most heinous personal attacks (of both fans and lou) i’ve seen in fandom ever, and i’ve been in some rough trenches.

i adore buddie. always have. always will. (they’re quite literally the reason i’m married)

but i do not know how to interact with them in fandom spaces anymore, which is why i stopped. because who am i interacting with? where do they stand on the horrific stuff that has gone on? were they the ones sending the anon hate?

bucktommy (and buddietommy) became the safe haven for a lot of us to still be able to interact with the fandom and characters we love once it got so bad, and now that it’s ended…

i can’t unsee all the shit that has gone down.

Don’t get me wrong, the joke memes are funny and all but if I’m being 100% honest here, as an American I’m actually pretty fearful for my life.

I’ve been dreading this election all year and seeing this disgusting man continue to plan, in my personal opinion, to take over the country I call my home as not a president but as a dictator, has made my mental health plummet over the last few months.

This isn’t a funny, ha-ha sorta moment. A man walked into my place of employments just minutes after the news broke and joyfully started going off about how “they shot the wrong man!” to my friend and I while we stood in horror as he told other customers and hollered about his MAGA agenda.

The republicans will retaliate; that is my biggest fear. They see this man as someone who lived despite what “we did to him” and will get worse in the coming months. I know Biden isn’t the best guy for the job…but at least I know if he becomes my president, I can feel just a little safer going to sleep at night.

Let me make it real simple for y’all, since we’ve got some fence-sitters on here:

You vote for Trump -> Trump wins

You don’t vote at all -> Trump still wins

You vote Harris -> we have a chance to prevent another Trump presidency

Choosing not to vote isn’t a neutral position. You don’t have to, and in fact shouldn’t, love Harris. She will have some terrible policies, and we will fight them when we get to that point.

But we have to air on the side of harm reduction. Whatever damage Harris would do in office, Trump would do unfathomably worse.

A vote is not an endorsement; it’s a strategic move to mitigate something worse from happening. This isn’t about wanting Harris to be president; it’s about preventing Trump from becoming president again.

Trump and Harris are unfortunately pretty evenly matched atm, so we need as many people as possible to vote Harris in order to keep him out of office. I don’t think any of us can truly imagine how catastrophic another Trump administration would be, especially for LGBTQ+ folk, people of color, immigrants, and any other oppressed group.

How do I subtly convince my coworkers to stop being trump supporters???

I work in a school and just found out at least 2 of my coworkers are Trump supporters. We’re not close, and I don’t think it’s appropriate to at any point in the day try to open up a political discussion. I also have really bad debate skills. However, with the election so close, if Trump won and I did nothing at all to try to sway the people in my vicinity, I’d never forgive myself. So does anyone have advice for this? I don’t wanna start any arguments, I’m mostly hoping to get them questioning Trump, ideally without even having to directly bring him up. Like complaining that I feel bad for our kids, who will likely never experience a white Christmas (appealing to nostalgia and Christianity), and at another time mentioning something Trump said about destroying all climate regulations.
