Growing up Katsuki's parents wanted him to be the best. To do everything. His mother wanted him to find art in more aggressive sports and hobbies. His father however, pushed for actual art. Masaru had a genuine joy for the peaceful and quiet, something of which he couldn’t enjoy as much as he’d wished for with the home he lived in. Nevertheless, in the seldom moments he had of quiet, he danced, and painted, and sat in the garden of their home, enjoying the moments he had to himself and his thoughts.  

As a kid, Katsuki hated how his father would get in specific “moods” where he just wanted to be to himself and his thoughts. He never truly understood it growing up, until he met you. You were so alike to his father; wanting to sit and enjoy the peace you had in random little moments and increments. It was such a foreign concept to Katsuki.  

He looked at you as if you were an anomaly. When the two of you had first begun dating, he just didn’t get it, who would want to be in areas of time where no one could sit and appreciate what you do. At least with volleyball, and boxing, and debate classes you earn respect for doing it and winning.  

He would sit and watch you in seemingly your own world, planting flowers, or annotating classic literature and be brought back in time to when he was 12 years old seeing his dad sit in the garden reading the same exact book with a pencil in hand. Certain foods you would make, and specific songs you would play would remind him of his father and how much Katsuki truly missed him. 

It was raining out the day he saw you swinging on the porch with a cup of tea and a book in hand, when he had called his dad. He wanted to understand it; he wanted that same peace the two of you seemed to hold so dearly. He wanted to bond over it.  

As a kid his father wanted him to take ballroom dance classes, was adamant it would be a healthy outlet to learn to express himself and to get lost in. Mitsuki and Katsuki were not big on the idea though, brushing it off and pursing their interests that more often than not landed them or others in hospital beds.  

Years and years of Masaru begging his beloved son to listen and take interest in the things he did, before he eventually gave up. Katsuki didn’t even notice when exactly his father stopped asking him, wishing now more than ever he had listened. He wanted that outlet. He wanted to be able to find joy in tranquil activities. You made him want that. 

“I'm going to my parents for a bit, want me to grab anything on the way home?” Katsuki stood by the door of the backyard, looking out at the back of your head, you sitting silently in a chair, rocking back and forth. “No, I'm okay baby. Thank you.” quietly muttered as if it were a secret, you don’t turn around. He doesn't want you to. He just stands for a moment more before muttering a quick goodbye and closing the door.  

The drive itself is weird. He doesn’t know if it’s age or if he was having an odd midlife crisis, but he doesn’t speak a word the entire drive, just quietly excelling forward.  

When he arrives at the house he had grown up in, spent every memory of birthdays and holidays, where he learned to ride a bike, where he had his first tooth fall out, every memory lingering in the air around the house, he just stands at the door for a moment.  

He doesn’t know what was different this time, but something was. Maybe himself. Maybe he had finally grown up. He was changed, and content with it.  

His attention is only brought back to the present tense when the door opens, and he sees his father's brown eyes staring back at him. Katsuki doesn’t know what comes over him, but without saying a single word, he gently pushes his way into the house and grabs ahold of his father. He felt like a little kid all over again. He just wanted to hug and talk to his dad. He wanted to take those ballroom dance classes. He wanted to bond with him. 

So that's what they did. Masaru was a man of few words most his life, keeping relatively quiet and to himself, but coming completely out of his shell with his son now. He had taught Katsuki everything he wanted to learn with a small smile and a joy Katsuki had never seen in his father.  

By the end of the night Masaru had grabbed an old record and put it on the player, having classical music whirl throughout the house, before turning to Katsuki and teaching him how to dance. Mitsuki watched quietly, quieter than Katsuki had ever seen her, with a smile and tears gleaming her eyes, happy she could see her two favorite people bonding in ways she knew her husband had always wanted to with him. 

Katsuki felt closer to them, he felt as though he had truly understood family finally. He drove home with a smile, a calm, content smile that had rarely graced his handsome face, cheerful all the way up the steps to the home he shared with you.  

Opening the door, he knew his perspective had changed, knew that life was different, a good different, and that he was fortunate enough to share it with you. You had this lopsided smile on your face when you had seen him walk through the door, raising an eyebrow and walking closer to him, covered in little raindrops.  

“I assume you had a good night at your parents’ place?” Helping him out of his jacket, you move to hang it on the rack before he stops you and interlaces his fingers with yours. “Let's dance.” he says simply, looking down at you with a look in his beautifully light eyes that gleamed and shone in enamor and affection.  

“What?” you laughed, taken aback and smiling even bigger, “Yeah, I wanna dance with you.” Tossing his phone onto the counter, the same song his father played for him started to drift throughout his new home, the home he shared with you, the home in which he held dearest of all, simply because you existed in it. you were his home.  

Grabbing ahold of you like his dad had shown him how to, he started to sway slowly, leaning his head against yours, and tightening his grip on your hips ever so lightly. He looked so odd, there was no anger, no irritation, no malice in his features whatsoever, just pure contentment. You wanted to live in this moment for the rest of the days you two had together, falling in love with him all over again.  

Katsuki Bakugou was great at many things, but as he grew and matured, he became great at understanding life, and how much peace was truly worth, especially if it meant this is how he could spend the rest of his life with you.

I know this is stupid but hear me out. I reread your Somewhere you can't follow fic and the Scaramouche one somehow reminds me of Taylor Swift's unreleased song "I'd Lie". The song now hits diff after reading the fic. If you don't know the song, please please please listen to it even just once most of all the chorus part and you'll get what I mean.😭

The early days of Taylor Swift was my teenage soundtrack.

In particular, for the song "I'd Lie" teenage me found myself listening to it over and over again because I had a crush on someone who always kept pining for someone else, and I was always there to help him.

The rest of my angsty love story under the cut

He, let's call him Rex, had somehow taken a liking to people who were usually my friends, or at least my acquaintances.

He would write notes to them and I would be the messenger. Mind you, we were probsbly like 15 or 16 at this point.

One particular time, I had asked my friend Jamie if she was interested in Rex, because Rex had enlisted me to send love notes to her. Jamie flat out said no, she was interested in someone else at that point. I still gave her the note, and I told her that Rex is interested in her. She never responded to those notes.

I told Rex, in a very gentle manner, that she wasn't interested "You might want to try elsewhere..."

He understood immediately. "That's okay, I can keep trying,"

The next few days Jamie had complained to me about how Rex was showing up in her class and offering to carry her things, or asking if she was free to hang out.

Jamie wasn't the first person I witnessed reject Rex. At this point I really didn't get it. Why did girls not give him a chance? He was cute. He was smart. He was a gentleman. He was nice. He was upfront about his intentions. He was really good at drawing. He played the guitar. He had a kind sister.

I cried because lil ole me felt that he deserved much more than just girls rejecting him left and right. I cried because, hi, I'm right here. I know you. I knew his favourite colours even though he didn't tell me. Knew that he was sometimes annoyed by his sister. Knew when his birthday was. Knew that he wanted to be an artist. Knew that he had several dreams in store.

Then one day, I got the news that I was moving away.

I cried again. But I cried because of the friendships I was going to lose and the life that I was leaving behind. Not just because of him.

I told my closest girlfriends, and we cried together.

In art class, Rex came up to me and asked "You've been absent on and off, what's up with that?"

I didn't tell him that we were busy packing for the big move. I just told him it was family stuff.

"Oh. Well, we need a partner in art today. I'll draw you," we were supposed to do portraits today.

I was genuinely surprised because Jamie was in that class. So were some other girls he used to be interested in, and even then, his friends were also in the class. Why had he chosen me?

In fact I remember asking him "What about *his friends name*? It doesn't look like he has a partner,"

"Tsk, he'll live,"

I didn't say anything, but for the next hour or so, he spent it silent, sketching my features. Looking up once in a while to look at me and check if he was getting my features right.

When he finished, he signed the sketch off and handed it over to me. "Here you go, don't lose it," then packed up and left.

I don't have that sketch anymore, but to this day, in my mind's eye, it still is the most beautiful portrait of me, and probably the only sketch of me that will ever be drawn.

When it was finally announced to the class by my homeroom teacher that I was leaving in the next few weeks, not even finishing the school year, Rex yet again came up to me and asked questions.

Where are you going?

Are you ever coming back?

Why didn't you tell me earlier?

But everybody else was asking the same thing, so I didn't think much of it.

Until I got a text message from him at night.

"Are you free at some point? Let's go shopping, I'll get you something you like,"

In the deepest parts of my mind something clicked, but I also told myself I was probably just imagining it.

I replied with the truth, I said it was too busy at home packing and sorting things out.

"What time do you get to school? I'll meet you by the curve and walk with you," in tagalog "Sabay na tayo," he tried to keep the question really casual, but I think I was getting the hint at this point.

I was stuck. Do I let him do this and enjoy the attention for the last few days? Or do I nip it in the bud in fear of falling too hard at the wrong time?

I decided to stay neutral. I decided to pretend I didn't know what he was up to, but I did, because this is exactly what he did to all the girls he liked before.

I didn't tell him what time I usually got to school. I merely said my mom actually walks me to the gate.

"That's okay, I'll still walk with you,"

I just told him we can walk together if he happens to see me.

In the next few days he continues to send me messages after school, asking about mundane things like what things do I like. What color. What toys. He asked more about where I was going. If I was coming back. The what ifs.

In actual school he didn't really interact with me that much, but that was also because I spent a lot more time being whisked away by my friends.

At some point in between all of that he managed to catch me on the way to school. My mom had been there and probably raised an eyebrow when he approached me and said we could walk together. He said hi to my mom and continued talking to me.

It was then that I noticed a small whale plushie keychain on his bag. I thought it was cute and without thinking I grabbed it and squeezed it.

"You like it?" He asked.

"It's cute," I said.

On my last day of school he handed me that same plush and said I could keep it. "But you have to give it back to me when you come back,"

He wouldn't let go of it until I promised.

He texted me a lot that night. Asking what time my flight was. If he could see me off at the airport. If I could continue texting him even when I'm away.

I said I would try my best.

We were just kids, and we both fell out of touch when things got busy.

I never spoke to him again, but those memories are still very clear in my mind.

So all that angst that I post? Some of it is probably pulled from my various memories that I'm thankful for. That, or it was inspired by Taylor Swift hehehehe.

so my nlmg review / meta / rant / idk what this is im just gonna put my jumbled thoughts in here

i started never let me go because... pondphuwin, plus the plot seemed interesting, and let's say they both didn't let me down, the first more than the latter. but i do have a bunch of criticism for it and things i wish they had done differently.

I'll start from my favourite things about Never Let Me Go:

First of all, the freaking OST. so far NLMG has the best OST in any thai bl I've watched. It was so contextual, beautiful, weaving in and out of focus when it needed to, had a big role in setting the mood of so many scenes, in creating tension and resolving it. The songs chosen in many of the romantic scenes were super fitting and all had a similar vibe somehow. The OST helped hold this entire show together so well. I really need to save a bunch of the songs from the OST to my playlists.

Second thing, the cinimatography of the show. From start to finish, NLMG consisted of so many aesthetically pleasing shots. All the visuals were amazing, and served the plot and themes of the show so much. The colour grading of the show gave it a very nostalgic feel. The scenes that showed confidence were so powerful, the scenes with the sweet moments were so soft, the scenes that showed desire were so strong and heartfelt. Honestly the director of the show did such a good job. Also thematically a lot of shots showed the class difference and social hierarchy, as pointed put by @biochemjess in this post, by using levels and the characters positions in the scenes. Or the lighting discussed by @respectthepetty in this post. There are a lot more thematic things that were shown through the cinimatography but im too lazy to analyze them all. All in all, I loved how each and every scene was so put together from visuals to music to acting. Good job jojo.

Third, PondPhuwin's INSANE chemistry, and their amazing acting in general.

I'll start with Phuwin. He did so well portraying Nuengdiao's character. It was so satisfying and awesome to see it from the subtle body language to the big emotions. Phuwin is so good with big emotional scene's ™ it literally gives me goosebumps. He was able to show the softness yet the rage in Nuengdiao, all the pain but all the happiness, all the immaturity and maturity displayed by him throughout the series. The freaking confidence after coming back from the island, and the uncle kit confrontation scene were so powerful, so well acted and vital to Nueng's character arc, and Phuwin did them flawlessly. Some of my favourite scenes that showcase Phuwin's brilliant acting are the rooftop fight/breakdown scene (it was actuallyone of the first scenes i saw a clip of before i watched nlmg and i was like nah i gotta watch it), the fight/break up on the beach scene, the putting-palm-to-sleep-and-running-away scene (might be my favourite scene ever even though it's so sad), the comeback feom the island and taking his rightful place as a heir sequence, the palm getting shot sequence. Like, oh my god, again, goosebumps. Have I mentioned how good Phuwin is in big emotional scenes???

And Pond... that guy, he's probably one of my favourite thai actors ever. Pond has a certain feel, a certain texture and genuineness in his acting that I can't put my hands on, but oh god, do i feel with every role he plays. His acting has a flavour that I really love. He does geniune, sincere, devoted, softly strong like no other. I saw his acting in We Are first, and honestly it was so surprising to me at the beginning how different Palm's personality is from Phum's (they do have their similarities, but in the beginning of nlmg, Palm was so diff). This showed me how much range Pond has. The hesitance, the politeness, the strength yet softness, the sweet confidence, the micro expressions and the not so micro expressions, they were able to paint Palm's personality so well from ep1 directly. His devotion to his work and to Nuengdiao were so prevalent in every look on his face. His conflict of wanting becoming closer to Nueng but also wanting to (more like having to) do what his father wants him to do, was so well acted. And all the confidence Palm gained at the island arc, when they were in the safety of the island, free like the sea, away from expectation, it was so beautiful to watch Pond act that. Some scenes that highlight what im talking about are the scene in the hospital when Palm confronts his dad about not caring about him (then we see Tanya hugging Nueng just after Palm got slapped by his dad and like kahskajmaj), the scene were he sees Nueng kiss Ben, the shooting class scene ("love is much more powerful than hatred" YEAH TAKE IT FROM THE GUY WHO IS FULL OF DEVOTION AND DESIRE), the scene when Nueng humiliated him at the party (i hate the scene but Palm's face, Palm's reaction, Palm's heart breaking... its powerful), Palm coming back to confront Nueng after the first breakup. The list goes on.

Now PondPhuwin together? it's fucking ART okay? it's so beautiful in all its shapes and forms. All the longing looks, every stare, every piece of dialogue shared, every touch, the tension was there, very strongly. It was so there you could feel it through the screen. Then all the romantic scenes, all the sweet ones, they served. The fight scenes were so good. The soft scenes were so good. The angsty scenes were spot on. The comforting scenes, the hugs, the pain, the tattoo kiss (i will never be over that), the way their relationship goes through so many different stages and so many different dynamics and they did each one of them so fucking well. I honestly will stop talking about this because i could write a 100k essay just about how much i love to see them together on the screen. You guys get me, right????

Anyway, another thing this show did right was FEMALE CHARACTERS. I can't stress this enough, but I'm so tired of shows that give the most 2D, weakly written, unlovable female characters only. And here we got three well flesh out, well written important female characters. Starting with Mrs Tanya, Nueng's mother.

If you saw my post after watching ep 1, you saw how much Tanya caught my eye and attention. And that didn't stop as the show went on. She is strong, loving, caring, but flawed, and oh do i love that. I live that she isnt perfect. I love that we see how much she tries to do her best after her husband's death, how confident she is managing the business and stating her terms and boundaries, and how much she tries to protect and care for Nueng. Was her way of doing that right all the time? not really. but that makes her realistic and makes sense for her character. She unconsciously puts pressure on Nueng for being the only hope for the Kiattrakulmethee family, just like his dad did, and unknowns makes Nueng's relationship with Palm more strained with the promise she made Palm make. But over all, we see a genuine caring mother, that fixed her mistakes by the end and tried her hardest to be successful. (Also she is gorgeous??? i can't not mention that. plus her stylist slayed)

Up next is Maggie!! she was such a pleasant and very very needed character. She helped in Palm's development by being a very good friend. Im so grateful they didn't make her flirty with him all the time and the usual not being able to read the room and trying to get in between the mcs. Nope, we got a genuine friend, who had an initial crush on Palm (i mean look at him, who wouldn't??) but then realised the story, recognised so many of Palm's internal problems and gave him much needed advice and support. They were so cute to see together, and i loved the scenes were she was talking to Palm about what she wants to do with her life, and asking him about what he wants to do with his. I think there was something beautiful there because we saw so much of Palm interacting with people from higher class, poeple who dont understand an integral part of his character, and then we see him talking to maggie, who is also working class, who is also trying to navigate her life and live it to it's fullest job after job. Idk why i liked that this much. I love Maggie, she deserves the best.

And finally, the character i thought i was gonna hate but i loved immensely, Palm's mom, mama Mam. We meet her, as a mother who doesn't know her son, a selfish mother that left and loves her family on her own terms. But them once her son comes back to her life, she steps up to take her role as a mother, and boy does she do good. What we saw of her in the few episodes she was in, was so important. She embraced her son's presence fully and read him so well, gave him advice and supoort he very much needed, gave him a safe place and so much love (for him and his boyfriend), and then as a final tribute, sacrificed her life for theirs.

Her character portrayed the complexity of motherhood, of love, of life. The thing she told palm about life not being all about love explained a lot about her character, and is kinda true. So yeah i love how well written she was.

Now, for side character appreciation we get CHOPPER! You dont get how much love I have for him. He is a green flag, no, a green forest and literally such an perfect character. Perth's acting>>>>>>>>>>> The fact that Chopper faced all that conflict alone, had to choose between jailing his own father and becoming complicit in his crimes, it's heartbreaking. Even Ben wasn't by his side at that point. He was so alone, yet he did the right thing. Love a character with strong values. I love that he didn't have any negative feeling towards Nueng, despite all their parents' conflicts. And him confornging his father? badass, even if he faiked to stop him. Him shooting his father? BADASS.

His for you page would be a mix of pretty girls, NBA basketball player edits, and like sped up music. He’d be making edits of his own basketball highlights with capcut and posting them 😂

He’d spam videos to Ryota and Sakuragi, especially basketball edits.

Ngl he’d be the only one on the team to fr have clout 😂😂😂

He would post both thirst traps AND photos/videos of ayako. He’d love to post her to the cute TikTok trends (like this). Ayako would jus like the post and not say ANYTHING

One thing about Miyagi is that he dresses GOOD, and he’s gonna show that off! He’d post outfit of the day videos and he’d gatekeep tf out of his clothes. Like he’d straight up ignore any comments asking him where he got his clothes from 💀

He seems like the type to not respond to ANY TikToks he’s sent. Like Sakuragi would SPAM videos and Ryota isnt even opening any of them

If Ayako sends him things on TikTok tho.. OPENED IN LESS THAN A SECOND. He’d have his notifications turned on too so whenever she posts, he is all up in her comments. He’d reply to any other guy in her comments talking some “She’s mine lil bro”

I don’t think Rukawa would be very into social media, but if there’s one social that he has, it’d be TikTok

He’d probably have a completely empty acc with like no pfp, 6 followers, and no posts. He would NOT care about being famous on there, although if he even jus posted a video of himself, he’d instantly go viral.

His fyp would be cats, music recommendations, english lessons, and basketball. That boy has NO interest in anything else on there. And he thinks that the other guys’ videos are corny, especially if he saw Ryota’s thirst traps 💀.

But if he EVERRR made a guest appearance on the guys’ videos, he would instantly blow up. Like all the comments would be asking him who he is, what his @ is, and why he’s so mf fine. He’d make his acc private after that 😂

I like to think that his fan girls would try to find his TikTok and stalk his reposts to see what kind of guy Rukawa is, and what he likes

HE’D DEF BE FAMOUS ON TIKTOK, maybe even more followers than Miyagi.

I think he’d initially blow up bc him and his teammates would do the dance trends for fun during practice, but all the girls would comment things like “That guy in the middle is so fine 😍” or “He’s the only fine one 😭😭”. AND HE’D BE USING IT AS A WAY TO DISS ON THEM, like “None of those girls even want you” 😂 (then he gets his ass whopped)

Ok I don’t think he’s the type to be thirsty but from time to time, he’d def like and repost a pretty girl on his fyp AND HIS FAN GIRLS WOULD NOTICE IT AND GO CRAZY.

He’d def post highlights from his games over famous tiktok sounds (LIKE THE “I done did the impossible” one) and he’d have girls from diff schools start showing up to his games after finding him off TikTok

I feel like he’d jus post on Tiktok for fun? Like he’d post a little bit of everything; basketball, him lipsyncing songs, dance videos with his friends, and even TikTok lives. He wouldn’t really care about being famous on TikTok so he’d jus post whatever makes him feel good yk?

I like to think that he follows the Shohoku boys (even Rukawa somehow) and from time to time, he comments on their posts with “🔥🔥🔥”

My perfect Rafe and Kie dynamic would resemble the song Real men by Mitski, where obviously Kiara is “Real men” and Rafe is “little boy” in the song. If the writers pair them up next season they should imo have Kie adopt ward like persona (not to far her true self) flipping out over spit milk and berating him with her usual self righteousness, even a lil hypocrisy. Also she should want to kill groff (that should be her goal I hope the pates don’t pussy out) but obviously her main gripe with Rafe is the fact that he’s a murderer -  just makes for a fun dynamic. Can you imagine Rafe spending the past 2 years trying to cosplay Ward but he’s left to play his old role/ reduced to brawn but now the position of your father is better played by hopefully an unhinged maybe cruel kie. It could lead to a very cathartic moment between the two where they lay all the cards on the table. Kiara imo has been such a stagnant character for the past 3 seasons, most kie lore we get is in s1 such wasted potential for a character who’s introduces as having they’re foot between 2 world and allegedly been suicidal. Also how have her parents sent her to one of those crazy unregulated behavioural correction facilities with no resolution, her parent kicked her out immediately with out a word in the start of s4 and were suddenly team pogue in pt2. The writers just hate writing consequences like 4 diff treasures in 4 seasons to avoid them and Rafe was mild af about wards death. 

If we’re to believe the jiaras that their ship is the best, Kie shouldn’t just mope in s5 but display righteous anger towards JJ’s death and want to kill groff. I mean JJ was unarmed and surrendering, groff did that out of pure spite. But those fans think it would be out of character because of her imo very shallow underdeveloped views, like yeah she’s anti gun and killing who isn’t but she’s always throwing hands lol they need to stop acting like she’s a pacifist. Why do jjiara want this show should be a fairytale without mess where Kie and all the women should be a perpetual damsels or agony aunts. Kiara is the only og pogue without their own season she desperately needs character development as she’s  basically a glorified extra/ cardboard cutout, if that mean her regressing and finding her way back so be it.

Also a much needed change in her character would make sense given the current circumstances, I mean they keep touting Kie as this ‘hippie’ who has these esoteric beliefs like karma and the sanctity of life. Now imagine her disillusion with these beliefs knowing someone she thought of as good who’s been dealt a bad hand in life has died unjustly. Hello!! What is more interesting than her perverting her views and bend her humanist ideals to fit wanting to murder groff, in fact she’d believe she’s doing good and dishing justice. For instance, people are religious and political all the time but they also come up with loopholes within the belief systems to allow them to get away with being a human/hypocrite. I hope she kills groff by ep 3 then they give us therapy sessions, angst between the pogues and eventually reconciliation. Heck give her a love interest from group therapy something interesting im bored with these lackluster interactions. While I like riara I don’t see it as an endgame, because I think from Kiara’s prospective he’d be her rock bottom, like represent the darkest, nastiest side of her.  The best part of riara imo is the journey between A (being strangers) to B (established relationship with pda🤮), basically the teasing, will they won’t they tension where you don’t know if they kill each other or kiss. Imo they don’t work as a domestic pair unless Rafe is unrealistically nerfed (which he kinda is with Sofia). I want something real and interesting. And I actually like kie and want her to have a happy if not hopeful ending without OC Rafe.

omg i really love this, i really like the highlighting of what kiara initially felt was her unshakeable views on humanity, forgiveness, and growth… then watching her self-manipulate into believing she’s still doing the right thing. this is her season and we have at least 10 episodes for her to spiral and claw her way back up

kie has a long way to go but rafe has further. the writers want to fix him, we can tell, but they’re wasting time with the sexy lamp when he needs to be facing his problems head on— atoning for what he did to pope and sarah, mostly. in a totally realistic sense, i suppose i agree with the idea that kiarafe can’t be endgame— the writers just aren’t equipped to do so effectively. they’ll either botch it by rushing the relationship, or leave everyone unsatisfied by having them heal in ways no one was asking for, ways that benefit no one. like turning your crazed villain into a goofy simp with no thoughts in his head, or pushing your lead female character into a fanmade relationship she canonically never wanted

i do believe in a fantasy world where they’re able to kill two birds with one stone since these two are the ones with unfinished story arcs and they’ve been hinting at the tension since day 1, and i do think it can be done without ripping rafe OOC or cutting corners on their growth, but we’re gonna need some tumblr users in the writers room if we want that to happen smh

In a way, Dazai reminded you of those bunnies you'd rescue in your youth. He was caught and wounded by the claws of Life. And although you may cup his cheeks into your hands and tell him 'You're alive', he had already died before you were able to cradle him to your chest.

" I told you not to wake up early, Y/N! I should have known to not mention my fondness of crêpes to you. "

You felt untamed, wild hair brush against the bare of your neck before soft lips made contact with your jawline. A soft kiss pressing into what was cold. He was grateful to have you in his sad miserable life.

And even if you two were not perfect for each other, you'd both die to watch the world burn.

" I did it on my own accord. " You lied. " You did not. " He calls your bluff like air. You huff in surrender.

Setting down the metal bowl of paste, you turn to face him. You think of the horrors that his empty, black eye must have seen. His other eye, obscured by bandages, was a mystery to you. You respected him enough to not budge him about it.

" I wished to make you something special. "

You confess, certain he already knew your intention. Your boyfriend was simply smarter than many.

Your eyes were not as bright as they were when you were little. They reflected the bad girl that you've become. The one that left her sickly impoverished father in treacherous conditions alone because her feelings were hurt.

He'd pull you back into reality when he'd notice you slipping.

" 'samu. You've barely been coming home anymore, okay? Let me do this, just this once for you. " You snaked your arms around his waist and he mirrored your action, twirling you both out of the kitchen.

Dazai was inexplicable to you. He was a man your father wouldn't like. A man your Mother would hate. A man your younger self would despise.

You willingly moved into a shared apartment with the mafia executive after a few months of living in Yokohama. It was him to have picked you up from the streets. Sensing you were worth more than the muddied appearance you showed at that time.

Your one-time use turned into a second-time use, and your second-time use blossomed like a flower in Spring. You interested him.

You both intoxicated each other. Dazai was able to make you feel light. You felt weightless and as fragile as a butterfly. Weak, small and at his mercy.

" Then don't hide yourself away from the kitchen when I'm right here, love. "

By the time your spinning head focused on what was around you again, he had toppled you both onto the living room couch. He loomed over you, fully dressed in his mafia uniform, his stupid tie obscuring your vision until he tucked it between the buttons of his revere blouse.

" What would you do if I were to die? "

" Osamu. Stop that. "

You muttered.

You feel his life. The warmth of his body, the tender flow of blood heating his body as his finger traced patterns into your cheek. Your heart keeps beating.

" Answer me, Y/N. "

You didn't enjoy thinking of your partners demise. You wouldn't mind if you were to die.

The problem was, you didn't want to be alive for your boyfriends funeral, yet you didn't wish for your boyfriend to be alive for yours.

You loved each other to the point it became hate. Hate for how the other made living seem worth it.

Dazai had an eventful life. You did not.

You had no education whatsoever. According to the government, you did not exist. You had no birth certificate. You were no one. You lived hidden in this cramped apartment.

When Dazai was away, it was only you and your thoughts. Your thoughts were a dangerous thing.

" I think I would kill myself too. "

Your voice caught up on an unexpected crack. You were puzzled until your vision became glassy.

" Pretty baby. I'm sorry. " His apology was belated as you'd already begun to sniffle, he lowered his weight on you, turning to lay on his side as he pulled you in close, coaxing you into silence.

" Don't die, 'samu. Not here, not now. " Your sad little beg mused him.

Dazai was all you had left. You were most certain that if you were to part, you would die.

With Dazai, you were still inadequate. Without Dazai, you truly were nothing but a walking corpse.

He thinks that you are something weak and soft, with a fire raging in you that cried to be extinguished before it could spread.

You hush yourself to enjoy the feeling surrounding you. You feel Dazai's ribcage rise with each steady breath he takes. The beating of a heart is somewhere far deep in, and yours is jumping in your throat.

" Not now. " He repeated after you, and part of you wished to believe it.

There was something mystical about Osamu.

Something that warned you to not feed coal to the flame.

And that if you reached your hand in, you'd burn yourself on what was forbidden.

ok i actually have a post in my drafts about this, but what interests me more than characters’ sexualities is how they identify. because i love Denial and it’s realistic considering the characters and time period. i’ll go into it more in another post but here are my hcs for their real sexuality and what they call themselves.

theboss: bi, id’s as straight, but could admit to an attraction to women if pressed

bb: gay but romantically stunted (not aro! it’s a diff thing!) id’s as interested in dominating men, but uninterested in sex or romance

ocelot: gay, probably id’s as such but could get pretentious about it

kaz: bi, id’s as straight even with a gun to his head

strangelove: canon out lesbian!

venom: straight, id’s as whatever big boss’ deal is thanks to Ocelot’s Reverse Conversion Therapy™

solid: gay. thought he was bi for a long time but realized his “attraction” for women was just something he felt he was supposed to do. i think he has always been surprisingly accepting of his attraction to men, but obviously was not out for various reasons, including don’t ask don’t tell.

liquid: gay only bc he is a clone of bb and i believe sexuality is innate but i am so uninterested in him it’s whatever
