This was my first Twilight character x reader story on here that I read and I cannot begin to tell you how pleased I am that I started with Emmett and with this work!!! This was beautifully written while also giving me all the angst and heartbreak and yearning feels experienced by Y/N. So well done!!!
The woods surrounding Forks were darker than you remembered. The dense canopy of evergreens blocked out most of the moonlight, leaving only thin beams to guide your path. Your breath came out in short bursts as you weaved through the trees, the familiar chill of the air biting at your skin. You knew this place like the back of your hand, and yet tonight, it felt different. Like the shadows themselves were warning you to turn back.
Love the description here. It immediately brought me right back to Forks and immersed me into the Twilight world. Very nicely done!!!
You’d told yourself a thousand times that you wouldn’t come back—that this part of your life was over. But staying away had proven impossible, and no matter how hard you tried to move on, something kept pulling you back to Forks. Back to him.
Oh my goodness, did I just let out a loud squeal? You're darn right I did!
The moment you stepped into the clearing, your heart stopped. He was there, standing as still as a statue, his broad shoulders tense and his dark eyes locked onto you. Emmett Cullen. The vampire who had stolen your heart—and then shattered it.
This is such a heart-stopping moment, though, to borrow your phrase. Seeing him in the moonlight, his eyes locked onto you, noting he's a vampire... You painted the picture so perfectly!
He let out a rough breath, his hands running through his dark curls, and for the first time, he looked vulnerable. Like the weight of everything he’d been carrying was finally too much. When his gaze finally met yours, there was no mistaking the anguish there. “I left,” he said, his voice quieter now, thick with emotion, “because I couldn’t control it anymore.” You frowned, confusion clouding your thoughts. “Control what?” Emmett’s expression darkened, and his fists clenched again. “The thirst,” he growled, like the word itself was painful. “Being around you… it was getting harder. You don’t know what it’s like, having to fight it every second. The scent of your blood—it’s overwhelming. And I couldn’t risk it anymore. I couldn’t risk you.”
I really do feel this is the conversation Edward should have also had with Bella in the books, too. At least Emmett is telling her and being honest with her here. And knowing Emmett's body count history, it's more than understandable why he left. He just straight up says it and I love it.
“You could’ve told me,” you whispered, your voice trembling. “We could’ve figured it out together.” Emmett shook his head, his eyes filled with a sadness that seemed to age him by centuries. “No, we couldn’t. I’m a danger to you, and you don’t even realize it. Every day that I spent with you, I was fighting my nature. One slip, one mistake, and you’d be gone. I couldn’t live with myself if that happened.”
Normally, I'd be frustrated with her like I get with Bella in New Moon (the whole saga quite frankly) whenever it comes to this harsh truth of a topic in a relationship between vampire and human in that world, but I can understand the reader's point here. And I appreciate that Emmett shuts it down, as much as it costs him to do so. (I also LOVE how you've taken Emmett's backstory and applied it here brilliantly btw!!!)
After what felt like an eternity, you stepped closer, close enough that you could reach out and touch him if you wanted to. But you didn’t. You just looked up at him, your heart heavy. “I came back because I couldn’t let go of you,” you said softly. “But maybe… maybe it’s time I do.” Emmett’s eyes snapped open, wide with shock and pain, but he didn’t stop you as you turned away, your heart breaking with every step. He had left to protect you, but in the end, the danger wasn’t just in his nature. It was in the love that had consumed you both, the love that had torn you apart. And as you disappeared into the shadows of the forest, you realized that sometimes, no matter how much you love someone, you have to let them go.
Thank YOU. As much as this hurt and I hate to see Emmett in pain (he will always be one of my fave Cullens!), I am so glad to see a realistic reaction to the depth of the love between a human and a vampire in this world alongside to the danger the vampire actually represents. Don't get me wrong, I love the Cullens but it always bothered me that Bella refused to at least acknowledge that fact and fully process it no matter what anyone said to her, including Edward. Not until her own transformation anyway and other people like Charlie were at risk from her. So I am very glad to see this displayed here. And your writing is impeccable so like I said above, I am so glad I entered the Twilight x Reader reading territory with you as a guide to light my way and I started with one of your works!!! So well done!!! 😊💖💖

But you couldn’t. Not when you had come this far.
You’d told yourself a thousand times that you wouldn’t come back—that this part of your life was over. But staying away had proven impossible, and no matter how hard you tried to move on, something kept pulling you back to Forks. Back to him.
The moment you stepped into the clearing, your heart stopped. He was there, standing as still as a statue, his broad shoulders tense and his dark eyes locked onto you. Emmett Cullen. The vampire who had stolen your heart—and then shattered it.
“You really shouldn’t come back here, you know.” His voice was low, rough around the edges, a far cry from the easy-going tone you used to love. “It’s not safe.”
You swallowed hard, forcing yourself to keep walking toward him even though every instinct screamed for you to run. “I know,” you said softly, your voice barely carrying through the cold air. “But I had to see you.”
Emmett didn’t move. He stood there, his jaw clenched, his hands balled into fists at his sides. The distance between you felt like a canyon, even though it was only a few feet. He looked the same as he always did—strong, imposing, impossibly beautiful—but there was a hardness in his eyes now, a darkness that hadn’t been there before.
“You shouldn’t have come back,” he repeated, his voice sharper this time. “You’re putting yourself in danger.”
You took another step closer, ignoring the warning in his tone. “Why, Emmett? Why did you leave like that?” Your words cracked under the weight of the question you’d been carrying for so long. “I need to understand.”
For a moment, you thought you saw a flicker of something in his expression—regret, maybe, or pain—but it was gone in an instant, replaced by a cold detachment that made your heart ache.
“There’s nothing to understand,” he said flatly, his eyes hard. “I left because it was the only way to keep you safe.”
Safe. The word felt like a dagger in your chest. Safe from what? From him? The thought made you sick.
“You think leaving me out of nowhere was going to protect me?” you demanded, your voice rising with emotion. “You didn’t even say goodbye, Emmett. You just—vanished. I didn’t know if you were dead, or hurt, or if I’d done something wrong—”
“You didn’t do anything wrong!” he interrupted, his voice thunderous as it cut through the air, echoing in the clearing. His eyes flashed with something raw, something that broke through the icy exterior he’d been trying so hard to maintain. “This wasn’t about you.”
“Then what was it about?” you whispered, taking another step forward, desperate to close the distance between you. “Tell me, Emmett. Because I can’t move on without knowing why you left me.”
He let out a rough breath, his hands running through his dark curls, and for the first time, he looked vulnerable. Like the weight of everything he’d been carrying was finally too much. When his gaze finally met yours, there was no mistaking the anguish there.
“I left,” he said, his voice quieter now, thick with emotion, “because I couldn’t control it anymore.”
You frowned, confusion clouding your thoughts. “Control what?”
Emmett’s expression darkened, and his fists clenched again. “The thirst,” he growled, like the word itself was painful. “Being around you… it was getting harder. You don’t know what it’s like, having to fight it every second. The scent of your blood—it’s overwhelming. And I couldn’t risk it anymore. I couldn’t risk you.”
Your breath caught in your throat. The realization hit you like a freight train. He had left because he was afraid of hurting you. But that didn’t stop the pain from gnawing at your heart.
“You could’ve told me,” you whispered, your voice trembling. “We could’ve figured it out together.”
Emmett shook his head, his eyes filled with a sadness that seemed to age him by centuries. “No, we couldn’t. I’m a danger to you, and you don’t even realize it. Every day that I spent with you, I was fighting my nature. One slip, one mistake, and you’d be gone. I couldn’t live with myself if that happened.”
Your heart shattered at his words. The depth of his fear, his self-loathing, was laid bare before you, but it didn’t change the fact that he had left you in the dark. That he had ripped your heart out without a second thought.
“You leaving already hurt me, Emmett,” you said, tears welling in your eyes. “It hurt more than anything you could’ve done. You thought you were protecting me, but you broke me instead.”
He flinched, and for the first time, you saw him break too. His shoulders sagged, and his eyes squeezed shut as if he couldn’t bear to look at you anymore.
“I’m sorry,” he whispered, his voice barely audible. “I’m so sorry.”
The silence that followed was suffocating. The man you loved was standing right in front of you, but it felt like there was a wall between you, one that couldn’t be torn down by apologies or explanations.
After what felt like an eternity, you stepped closer, close enough that you could reach out and touch him if you wanted to. But you didn’t. You just looked up at him, your heart heavy.
“I came back because I couldn’t let go of you,” you said softly. “But maybe… maybe it’s time I do.”
Emmett’s eyes snapped open, wide with shock and pain, but he didn’t stop you as you turned away, your heart breaking with every step.
He had left to protect you, but in the end, the danger wasn’t just in his nature. It was in the love that had consumed you both, the love that had torn you apart.
And as you disappeared into the shadows of the forest, you realized that sometimes, no matter how much you love someone, you have to let them go.

Hi x
I love your writing. If you're not too busy could I make a request for some OP men (Zoro, Law, Penguin - you've made me love Penguin) x reader in Wano.
Where Kin'emon (due to the crew's meddling) makes them and Y/n pretend to be a married couple as part of their undercover roles.
Yes wonderful, the Penguin agenda continues to expand! I really love fake marriage plots (*cough* last forever fanfic *cough*), so this was a lot of fun to do!! I hope you like it! :)
Tumblr media
Law
Heavily against the idea, Law doesn’t understand how he ended up having to pretend to be married you, a Straw Hat member, in the first place.
Well, okay, yes he does. You’d gotten yourself into trouble, like your crew always does, when one of Kaido’s Gifters got a little handsy with you, instead of running you started to fight him, almost getting captured before Law intervened. You agreed with him afterwards that you would’ve been just fine, though he didn’t believe you and argued back at you.
“Oh so you wanted to get captured and potentially used by those men?!”
“That’s not what I said!”
When he heard about it, Kin’emon said others heard you two arguing as well and assumed you were a married couple having a fight, so that would have to be your role now to keep up appearances. You both are against it even as it’s fully explained to you, but you don’t have much of a choice and end up putting on a façade around the people of Wano. For the first couple days, you begrudgingly let Law walk you back to your base of operation, just so the ruse is kept up. Law keeps his arm around your shoulders until you’re far enough away from the citizens, then removes it before you step away to keep distance.
More often than not you both argue when Law comes to get you from the teahouse you’ve been working at, a few of the patrons and other employees wondering if they should step in to stop you both from saying anything you shouldn’t.
One day, when you’re both arguing, your boss at the teahouse calls you back inside, thought you continue to argue with Law for a few more minutes. It’s not even about anything important, you had agreed to taking him to another couple’s home for dinner and he’s not happy about the idea.
“You could’ve waited and asked me first!”
“Well I wasn’t sure when you’d come by, and I know you well enough that you’d just say no!”
Before Law can say anything more, your boss calls you back inside, saying immediately or your pay would be docked. Law takes your arm before you go inside, making you glare at him just a bit, expecting him to keep arguing.
“We’ll talk about this when you’re off work. For now—”
Law doesn’t even get to finish his thought before you grab him by the back of the head and kiss him, just wanting him to shut up for once. He's so stunned that he can’t even finish his sentence when you pull away, looking embarrassed but annoyed with something else there that he’s not sure about. You almost look flustered but also happy?
“Just be quiet and go, Traffy. I don’t want anyone thinking you’re an abusive husband or something.”
Law doesn’t even say anything as you turn back to the teahouse, instead pulling his hat over his face and leaving, trying to hide the blush you’ve caused to cover his face. You’re as stubborn as he is, but he’s finding he doesn’t mind it, he doesn’t even care that you’re pretending to be married anymore. You’re getting under his skin and he doesn’t think it’s a bad thing, because it seems he’s done the same to you considering the smile you have the rest of the day.
Tumblr media
Penguin
Penguin has dreamed of the chance to take you on a date in the first place, so the moment it’s suggested two of you from the Heart Pirates pretend to be married, he’s throwing his hand up to volunteer as soon as he hears you’ve agreed to it yourself. Law knows very well how much Penguin likes you so he rolls his eyes and says fine, you and Penguin are now pretend married for the time being.
“Just don’t do anything suspicious.”
Penguin promises that he won’t, and makes good on it, just treating the way he would if you two were actually together. You pretend to be a housewife while Penguin finds a job at a pawn shop to help pass out the fliers Kin’emon had made up to recruit samurai. Anytime someone invites the two of you over, you both do your best to make everyone believe you’re happily married, Penguin isn’t even faking how happy he is to be able to hold your hand and tell people you’re married, even if it’s fake. You can’t say you mind it, the thought of really being his wife starts to take over your mind especially at night when you can’t sleep, sometimes even dreaming about it being reality.
If he runs into you during the day, while you’re talking with other housewives of Wano, Penguin has to stop and give you a hug and kiss on the cheek, making your face feel warm as you greet him, hugging him back while he grins at you. The other women whisper or giggle seeing such a display of affection, most of them aren’t used to seeing that in public.
“I hope you ladies are having a good chat with my wife!”
Every time Penguin calls you his wife it makes your heart race and you can’t help but feel like he’s meant to say that, like it’s so natural for him to call you that. When he needs to go back to the pawn shop, he’ll hug you again but this time you give him a kiss on the cheek that makes him blush bright red.
“I’ll see you tonight, husband.”
While you take off again with the other housewives, Penguin is frozen in place with the blush still on his face, to the point Shachi has go drag him away.
“Come on, lover boy, we got work to do!”
Penguin is determined to ask you out on a proper date after everything is settled.
Tumblr media
Zoro
Zoro is very neutral about having to fake a marriage with you. Considering you are his girlfriend already, it’s not a big deal, you just have to call each other husband and wife when talking about the other to anyone who asks, but he does believe this will help keep you safe from Kaido and his men while you’re in Wano. If people hear you’re married to a ronin, it might make them think twice before messing with or attacking you.
Of course, you could defend yourself no problem, that’s not what Zoro is even a little bit concerned about.
He’s more concerned about how you seem to lose yourself in your thoughts and want to help people when they ask for it, even if they’re obviously lying to try and kidnap or steal from you. It’s happened so many times that he’s become your designated buddy to keep you from getting into trouble, like how you became his to keep Zoro from getting lost every time you go somewhere.
It's a good trade of you have going with each other, even with your relationship, and keeping it up in Wano is the safest option. No one questions you about it really, the Straw Hats and Heart Pirates keep up the ruse too along with their placements in the country and recruiting all the Samurai you can.
You end up working at a small café that’s frequented, unfortunately, by Kaido’s men who seem unable to keep their hands to themselves most of the time. Zoro has asked every day if any of them tried anything with you, but you’ve denied it every time, the second they heard you’re ‘married’, most of them leave you alone though a few try to convince you to leave your ‘husband’ for them.
Zoro stops there one night to watch and make sure you’re okay, staying in a corner where you don’t notice him as he orders from another waitress and watches when you take an order from a Gifter. He sees you acting nervously but can’t hear what’s being said between you and the man, but he can guess it’s not anything good once the guy grabs your wrist and tries to pull you into his lap, Zoro’s about to jump up to protect you when he sees that.
“Come off, you’re off soon right? You should come have some fun with us!”
“No, thank you, I’m married,” you pull your arm away, giving a fake smile, “Will the two drinks be all for you?”
“Hey, come on now, wouldn’t want your boss to he—”
The Gifter trying to get you to go with him shuts up as a sword touches his neck, you being pushed behind Zoro while he glares the man.
“She said no, and you’re asking in front of her husband, ya know.”
“Love, you can’t use your sword here!”
You end up getting kicked out by the Café owner, Kin’emon only sighing when you tell him what happened.
You are glad to know that if you do end up getting married one day, that Zoro will continue to protect you always.

Exile
Inspired by the song Exile by Taylor Swift
pairing: you x drew starkey
Tumblr media
The café was quiet, save for the hum of soft jazz filtering through the speakers and the clinking of cups against saucers. You sat in a booth by the window, fingers wrapped around a mug of now-lukewarm coffee. The cloudy skies outside mirrored the storm brewing inside you. Drew was late—again.
You sighed, glancing at the empty chair across from you. The weight in your chest grew heavier with every tick of the clock. This wasn’t the first time he’d kept you waiting, but it felt different today. He’d been distant for weeks, his texts growing shorter, his excuses more frequent. It was as though he was drifting away, and you were powerless to stop it.
The door chimed, and there he was. Drew Starkey, with his messy hair, sharp jawline, and the same leather jacket he wore on your first date. He looked like a dream. He always did. But the tired look in his eyes and the hesitation in his step turned your stomach. He spotted you, offering a small, tentative smile as he walked over.
“Hey,” he said, sliding into the seat across from you.
“Hey,” you replied, your voice quieter than you intended. You watched as he fidgeted with the hem of his jacket, avoiding your gaze. The silence stretched between you, heavy and uncomfortable. Finally, you couldn’t take it anymore. “Drew, what’s going on?”
His head snapped up, and for a second, he looked startled. “What do you mean?”
“You know what I mean.” Your voice was steady, but your hands trembled slightly as you set your mug down. “You’ve been... distant. Different. And I feel like I don’t know where I stand with you anymore.”
He sighed, leaning back in his seat. His hands rubbed his face, and you could see the exhaustion etched into every line of his expression. “I’ve been busy,” he said finally, his voice devoid of its usual warmth. “Work’s been insane, and... I don’t know. It’s not you.”
“It’s not me,” you repeated, bitterness creeping into your tone. “That’s all you’ve got?”
“What do you want me to say?” he snapped, his voice rising slightly. “That I’ve been overwhelmed? That I don’t know how to balance everything right now? Because I don’t.”
“Then why didn’t you tell me that?” you asked, your voice cracking. “Why did you just... shut me out instead?”
Drew looked away, his jaw clenching. “Because it’s easier that way.”
“Easier for who?” you demanded. “Because it sure as hell hasn’t been easy for me, Drew. I’ve been sitting here, trying to figure out what I did wrong. What I could’ve done differently. And you didn’t even give me the chance to fix it.”
“There’s nothing to fix!” he said, his frustration spilling over. “Don’t you get it? Sometimes, things just... fall apart.”
The words hit you like a punch to the gut. You stared at him, your eyes stinging with unshed tears. “So that’s it?” you whispered. “You’re just giving up?”
“I’m not giving up,” he said, but his voice lacked conviction. “I’m being realistic.”
“Realistic,” you repeated, your voice trembling. “No, Drew. What you’re being is a coward.”
His eyes snapped to yours, anger flashing across his face. “A coward? Seriously?”
“Yes, seriously,” you said, leaning forward. “You’re running away because it’s easier than staying and fighting for what we have. And you know what? Maybe that’s on me for believing in us more than you did.”
“That’s not fair,” he said, his voice low. “You think this is easy for me? You think I don’t care?”
“I don’t know, Drew,” you said, throwing your hands up. “Because you won’t tell me anything! You won’t let me in!”
He fell silent, his fists clenching on the table. The air between you was charged, the weight of all the unsaid words pressing down on both of you. Finally, he looked at you, his blue eyes filled with something you couldn’t quite name—regret, maybe. Or guilt.
“I tried,” he said quietly. “I really did. But we’re just... we’re not on the same page anymore.”
You felt the tears spill over now, hot and unrelenting. “So, what?” you said, your voice breaking. “You’re just going to walk away? After everything?”
“I don’t know what else to do,” he admitted, his voice thick. “I don’t know how to fix this.”
“You don’t even want to try,” you said, shaking your head. “You’ve already made up your mind.”
He didn’t deny it. And that hurt more than anything he could’ve said.
The drive home was a blur, the world outside your window smeared with rain and tears. By the time you reached your apartment, the ache in your chest had settled into something deeper, heavier. You kicked off your shoes and sank onto the couch, burying your face in your hands.
Your phone buzzed on the coffee table. For a moment, you considered ignoring it. But when you saw Drew’s name on the screen, your heart clenched. You hesitated before opening the message.
“I’m sorry for tonight. I never wanted to hurt you.”
You stared at the words, the hollow apology doing little to ease the pain. You wanted to reply, to tell him how much he’d broken you, but what was the point? He’d already decided it was over.
Instead, you turned off your phone and curled up on the couch, letting the darkness swallow you whole.
The next week was a blur of numbness and routine. You went to work, smiled when you had to, and avoided any place where you might run into Drew. The ghost of him lingered everywhere—in the smell of coffee, in the playlists you couldn’t bring yourself to delete, in the way your chest tightened every time you passed his favorite bar.
One night, you found yourself sitting on your bed, staring at an old photo of the two of you. It was from last summer, at a carnival. Drew had his arm slung around your shoulders, his smile wide and carefree. You looked so happy, so full of hope.
That girl felt like a stranger now.
With a trembling hand, you placed the photo facedown on the nightstand. You couldn’t bring yourself to throw it away—not yet. Maybe not ever.
A month later, you saw him.
You were at a mutual friend’s party, a moment of weakness convincing you to show up despite your better judgment. And there he was, standing across the room with a beer in hand, laughing at something someone had said.
For a moment, he looked up, his eyes meeting yours. The room seemed to freeze. Neither of you moved, but the weight of that gaze was enough to shatter you all over again.
You turned and left before he could say a word.
The story of you and Drew didn’t end with fireworks or closure. It ended in silence, in the spaces between what was said and what was left unsaid. And as much as it hurt, you knew deep down that some stories aren’t meant to have happy endings. Some are just meant to teach you how to let go.
And so you did.
Eventually.

Tumblr media
oscar didn’t mind that you had a life outside of him. he honestly didn’t. most best friends did. he himself had a life that didn’t revolve around you so why should he expect you to? his mother had told him that it was the part of him that was in love with you that wanted him to be the centre of attention. at first he was shocked by the very thought of being in love with you. but then when he saw you for the first time after that conversation with his mother, it hit him like a grand piano falling on top of him in the middle of the street.
since his realisation he had begged you to come to a race and cheer him on. it baffled you because for as long as you had known oscar he had never really bothered about you coming to watch him race, it’s not like he came to watch you type up a report at your office. so when he started getting on your case about it, well it made you wonder what exactly had changed.
“please! i am begging you to come with me. just this once.” oscar had pleaded from your couch. it was the summer break and he had decided to stop over at yours for a sleepover, having missed you while being away racing for the past god knows how long.
you rolled your eyes. “why do you keep asking me? you never cared before.” you retorted knowing that this would shut oscar up. it always did.
“i miss you a lot while i’m away. you are my best friend you know. face time doesn’t do it for me anymore.” oscar had pulled your feet to rest on his thighs as some stupid romcom played on your tv in the background.
you don’t know what tugged at your heartstrings this time, maybe it was his honestly and not shutting you out this time. or maybe it was the face that you really did want to watch him in his element. you would’ve killed to watch him win his first race, even under the circumstances.
“fine but you better win to make it worth it.”
this conversation plays in oscar’s mind the entire way to baku. you sat next to him nervously. it wasn’t your first time flying, but it was your first time flying in max verstappen’s private jet with your best friend, his teammate and the current world champion.
oscar’s hand makes its way over to your knee to give a supportive squeeze and both lando and max can tell that there is nothing platonic about the two of you. lando wonders when something will get done about it.
★・・・・・・★
was it too ridiculous for oscar to hope for a only one room, only one bed situation? when he had confided in lando - he laughed in his face. so it was safe to say that it was but that didn’t stop oscar from hoping.
you end up in the room beside oscar, close but not close enough. you were oscar’s guest for the entire weekend, except thursday. that was your day to explore the wonderful city, this was such a long way from home and you were so excited to find some of the city’s most beautiful areas. this was an agreement you had made with oscar about your time here and he had begrudgingly agreed. he would rather with him the whole weekend but you knew how media days worked and if you were honest you could’ve be arsed with the whole hassle of it.
oscar wasn’t too fragile to admit that he did in fact miss you while you were off galavanting. he wanted to be there with you but alas, he had a job to do.
when you eventually did return to the hotel around dinner time, you sat with oscar and showed him everything you had seen that day while he listened intently with the biggest smile on your face. he owed his mum big time.
oscar does great over the practice sessions and you enjoy getting to watch him race around the track, getting a feel for the weekend ahead of him. watching him made you realise how much you actually enjoyed watching f1 as a whole. not even just your boyfriend- i mean your best friend. not that you wanted him to be your boyfriend or anything, that would just be crazy!
on saturday you watch oscar cross the line and qualify second on the grid and it makes you buzz with excitement. you wait for oscar in the mclaren garages to congratulate him. not really knowing where you should be during this time of celebration.
oscar finds you moments after his interview and pictures are taken like it’s his only purpose this weekends. you elect to ignore the raging butterflies the look in his eyes gives you when he finally spots you in the sea of papaya mechanics.
“hi! well done that was amazing! you were so fast!” you say through a giggle as oscar engulfs you in a hug that is worthy of the big screen. oscar mumbles something into your neck and all you can think is that you could definitely get used to this.
★・・・・・・★
the sight of a ferrari and a redbull colliding made your stomach sink. even when you knew both drivers were okay it worried you to no end, knowing that oscar puts himself in the way of that kind of danger multiple times a year and you had no idea just how dangerous it was until now. the chaos made your mind temporarily forget about oscar leading the race.
in what feels like seconds later, oscar crossed the finish line first and like a sheep you follow the mechanics to watch the podium.
what you didn’t know though, was that oscar had only one thing on his mind at the moment. and it wasn’t even getting his second win and proving all the critics wrong when they said that he wasn’t deserving of that win in hungary. he had to see you. his lucky charm. he raced like a god out there and in his love-struck mind he had no one else to thank other than you.
after stopping his car and almost sliding off of it he spots you waiting for him and his mind doesn’t take a second to think about what he’s about to do as he races towards you with what must be the biggest grin you’ve ever seen on him. his flushed cheeks and the pure sparkle of happiness in his eyes makes you light up with joy. he gets to you in record time and you don’t get to tell him well done or even let him know that his mum is a few people away because he is taking your face in his hands and he is planting the sweetest kiss on your lips. he doesn’t ask and even though it doesn’t bother you, you can tell he feels horribly about it when he pulls away and eventually spots his mum. with no time to talk about what happened you just let him run over to her with a grin that matched his.
there was plenty of time to tell him how much you loved him once he got down from the top step of the podium anyway.
neither of you were aware of the cameras on you during that (what should’ve been) private moment so when you show oscar a cute edit of the both of you, where the clip of what your first public ans actual kiss was played first he just pulls you in for another that was probably your fifth hundred.

goodnight n go ❄️
a/n- finally finished this draft from 11 months ago. (yeah I suck ik) but then I didn't really finish it bc the ending is a tad abrupt. but that's just kinda how I am. this is a cute lil angst/comfort fic featuring felix (my beloved) very sfw and gn reader. enjoy and feel free to stop by my inbox with requests!! happy reading beloveds <3
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Long distance was never easy. You both knew this when you started dating. But Felix was convinced you could make it work.
You met him accidentally. Spending a semester in Korea was turning out to be a more lonely experience than you ever could’ve imagined. You often found yourself counting down the days until you could leave. But then you met Felix, and all of a sudden, you wanted to stop the clock.
But unfortunately, freezing time wasn’t a skill you possessed. So as you packed your final items in your bag you thought about the first time you met him.
It was a warm day. Sun was shining occasionally through the clouds as you leaned your head against the cafe window. Today was going terribly. You were late to your classes because you overslept and then your professor was kind enough to let you know that you were one bad grade away from falling the semester. Not even your favorite green tea latte could brighten your day. Until he asked to sit with you. And all of a sudden you didn’t need the sun . he shined brighter than it ever could. Smile sparkling in the light of the cafe. He was gorgeous, so of course you said yes.
Laptop open you tried to concentrate on your lecture notes but the way he smelt was distracting. Consuming your inner monologue, oranges, and vanilla swirl together in a strikingly pleasant way.
His fingers waved in front of your face snatching your attention. Apparently, he had been talking to you for the past five minutes while you were absorbed in your thoughts about him. Laughing when you gave him a confused look. You had no idea what he had just said. It didn't seem to bother him too much. Restating himself with a smile on his face. His teeth were perfectly white and straight. Did he not own a single flaw?
But that was five months ago. In those months you fell in love with everything that was Lee Felix. You had never known a love so warm and positive. With his help you fixed your grades, even making the dean's list. He took you around Seoul showing you sites you never would've visited on your own. Meeting his friends who welcomed you with open arms. You felt so accepted. You weren't alone anymore.
Zipping up your last suitcase you had five minutes to say goodbye to your apartment that held so many memories for you. The kitchen where you shred your first kiss. That same day you burnt a batch of cookies together. More your fault than anything, but Felix didn't make you feel bad for it. Even taking a bite out of one to make the smile return to your face. The door you crossed so many times with him in tow. Body on body as you fumbled your way to the couch. Laughing when he tripped on the rug.
It was all over, for the foreseeable future at least. Your visa expiring forced you to leave behind the only love you've ever known. Felix wasn't even able to see you off at the airport. He had a strict schedule he couldn't stray from, not that you would let him. He had already done so much for you. You wouldn't risk his job just so you could have a few more moments of comfort. You weren't that selfish.
Stepping on the plane and finding your seat you wondered what would happen if you had never met. Would you be spared from the pain squeezing your heart with every breath? No. You don't regret him. You couldn't, not after all the kindness he showed you. Not after all the love
Closing your eyes, you lay your head back on the seat. The window blinds were closed so the sunlight wouldn't touch you. It reminded you too much of your own sun. Seats all around you filled up, but the two next to you remained empty, just reminding you of how lonely you were becoming again.
Suddenly you felt a dip in the seat beside you. Causing you to jolt up, ready to make room for the newcomer. When you looked you saw the familiar blonde that warmed your days.
"is that seat taken?" Felix asked with the biggest grin on his face. You quickly pulled him down into the seat and hugged him as tight as you could. Not believing it was really him. gently wiping tears from your cheek you didn't even realize were falling. He hushed your cries as he pulled you close.
"I convinced the company to let me work from home. So I can follow you anywhere. You didn't think I was seriously going to let you leave without me were you?"

I know you’ve done at least two “hero tortured in front of the villain who can’t do anything because their relationship is a secret” but may I kindly request the opposite? Superhero, fed up with the hero’s “I almost got them but they slipped away at the last second” shenanigans, captures the villain themself and subsequently tortures them in front of the hero, who must sit there and do nothing but watch as their lover suffers “in the name of justice”.
It was the kind of feeling that pressed the hero’s ribcage together. That kind of feeling when they looked at a person and simply knew the bad news they’d deliver. That horrible feeling when they got the call they’d tried to avoid all day.
The hero took in a deep breath and tried to remember their training. They tried to remember the rules they had to follow to avoid a panic attack. Usually, they weren’t someone to lose their cool that quickly but right now, they were sure they had to throw up.
“You look quite pale,” the superhero mumbled. They cocked their head curiously but the hero couldn’t even bring their eyes to look away from the villain’s broken form on the ground.
Hell, there was so much blood.
And they weren’t moving anymore.
“Are you done now?” the hero asked. “I have work to get back to.”
The superhero balanced the pipe they’d used to beat the villain with on two fingers, almost as if they were part of the circus and tried to impress the hero.
But the hero wasn’t impressed by their ability to balance a pipe that still had blood dropping down its metal nor were they impressed by how little the superhero cared about making a person being suffer like this.
“You don’t look like you enjoyed this. I did you a favour.”
“I don’t really think beating a prisoner has anything to do with justice.” The hero tried to keep their voice up but they could feel the lump in their throat. They could feel the tears and the pain in their nose that announced them.
They’d kissed the villain this morning softly. They had told them they’d have to be at work a little longer. And the villain had promised to take everything slow, after all, they were still recovering from a horrible cold.
“They’re a villain and you failed to do your job.” The hero couldn’t do this. They couldn’t look at the villain.
Something in their chest seemed to crack. Something deep down was breaking into pieces. The hero wanted to strangle the superhero right here, right now. They wanted to run up to their lover and call the medics.
Was the villain still alive? God, the hero couldn’t do this. They clenched their jaw, desperate for some stability.
The villain must’ve been weak and the superhero must’ve realised that they were struggling. It was sick to think about it, sick to imagine their lover who was supposed to be in bed, being punched over and over again by the hero’s boss.
“I apologise if any of my work didn’t satisfy you,” the hero said. “But this isn’t appropriate.”
Broken fingers. One ankle was definitely cracked too. The superhero had broken most of the villain’s ribs as well. If even one of them was piercing the villain’s lungs…The hero didn’t want to think about that.
The villain’s whole respiratory system must’ve been fucked.
“This is mercy,” the superhero said. “I could’ve done worse things to them.”
They put a hand on the hero’s shoulder but the hero didn’t think there was anything worse than this. Death would’ve been more merciful. Death for the both of them.
“I could’ve done worse things to you,” the superhero clarified and the hero realised this wasn’t the villain’s punishment. It was theirs. It was the hero’s fault. The superhero rather beat up a villain than one of their own.
But their actions were clear. If the hero allowed themselves to slip up one more time, it was them who’d be fighting for their life.
This was a warning, a demonstration of power. It was intimidation. It was cruel.
“I understand,” the hero said. Their eyes found the villain again. The bleeding villain who didn’t move at all. The same villain who had promised not to go out today. The same villain who would’ve probably done it anyway to buy some flowers for the hero. The hero couldn’t think about it. They couldn’t think about the villain’s smile. About lazy kisses in the morning or how gentle they were when the hero was covered in injuries.
“That’s a good puppy.” The superhero squeezed their shoulder hard enough to leave bruises before they walked towards the door. “Oh, another thing…see these cameras?”
The hero followed the superhero’s index finger with their eyes. Four in total. Each corner. Perfect view of the entire room.
“If you talk to them, if you touch them, I’ll know. Your job is to observe them. Nothing else, got it?” the superhero asked and the hero only nodded weakly. “Once they wake up, we’ll be ready for round two.”
The hero really needed to throw up.

Hey :) How are you doing?
Okay so, i wanted to request a platonic father Aizawa in which he is out patroling and he finds his teen daughter doing something ilegal with her friends or something like that.
Please and thankss :)
A/N; I’m okay thanks for asking! Love this idea, I’ve gotten many requests somewhat related to this lately actually! I’ll be posting those throughout the week. Also sorry it’s taken me a while to get to this! 🥲 I truly believe Aizawa is a girl dad and a softie parent.
Pairing; Platonic!Father Aizawa x Fem!Daughter Reader
Contains; a little ooc Aizawa, fluff, soft, drug mentions, reader is about 16-17 like mha characters, quirk-less reader, death mentions, bad friends, comfort

You weren’t supposed to get caught. In fact, you didn’t even think you would. It wasn’t a big deal anyways, you only did it because you thought it’d be a way to relax with your friends. Plus, if you guys did get caught your backup plan was your father. It wasn’t like he was going to detain you…right?
Wrong.
You were very wrong to believe that your father wouldn’t take you into custody over a little weed with your friends. You just wanted to have fun! Besides, you didn’t want to be the ‘perfect heroes daughter’ who’s a buzzkill. Why couldn’t he understand that?
There was just so much pressure that came with being the child to a hero. Your friends already joked about how you were too ‘good’ to do anything remotely illegal. Which is part of the reason you were in this situation in the first place.
Of course he just happened to be patrolling around the alley you and your friends decided to get a little high in. That was just your luck, he didn’t seem mad though. So you thought he’d just tell you guys not to do it anymore, and move on. Nope. Leave it to Aizawa to want to teach you a ‘lesson’ all of a sudden. He was normally just a “don’t do it again,” kind of parent. Mostly because you had never done anything of this caliber before.
“Did you really have to bring me in?”
Silence.
“I mean come on, none of the other heroes care. They’re too busy thinking about protecting the city, shouldn’t you be too? Nobody cares about a couple of kids getting a little buzzed, besides everyone does it nowadays-“
“That doesn’t make it okay y/n.”
You’ve rarely seen him like this, so tense. He didn’t look angry, but you couldn’t shake the feeling you got that he was. It was almost….scary.
So you resigned to a simple, “Okay, I’m sorry.” Were you really sorry though? Not that much, you still didn’t see the big deal.
He let out a low grunt, “This is serious y/n, I know you think I’m making a big deal out of nothing,” well he said it first, “but you could’ve been seriously hurt.”
“Hurt? From getting a little high?”
“Criminals lace that stuff all the time, whether it’s with poison, more drugs, or whatever else they decide-“
“Yeah sure, but we got it from a trusted source-“
“And who’s that?” He said crossing his arms.
Oops.
You decided it’d be best not to respond right now. Especially since the source wasn’t technically trusted, just another kid who got it from someone else. Who probably got it from someone else too.
Sensing your apprehension he decide to drop it, “we’ll revisit that later,” he said waving a dismissive hand. “I’ll drop you off at home, you’re grounded.”
You internally groaned at that, grounded? That’s a new one, you were starting to really regret your decision. You should have just told your friends no, even if it meant being the ‘buzzkill.’ Then you remembered, your friends-
“What about my friends?”
“We’re working on calling their parents to come pick them up soon.”
“No!-“ you said sharply, “I-I mean, can’t you just let them off? Or something?”
“You know that’s not how this works, they are already getting off with a minor offense. The worst they’re going to get is their parents’ scolding.”
“Dad! You don’t understand-“
“I understand perfectly fine, a bunch of young kids wanted to ‘have fun’ and thought this was the best way to do it.”
Okay maybe he did understand, but not your side. He didn’t get that now you’d officially be the outcast, the top 10 ranked hero’s daughter who gets everyone in trouble. Does he get how embarrassing that is?
“Come on, let’s get going.”
You stood from the chair leaving the comfort of being shielded, by the small desk separator, from your friends’ piercing gazes. They thought your dad would let you all off too considering the chaos the city’s currently in.
You nervously waved and mouthed a quick ‘sorry’ to them before rushing out the door trying to follow closely behind Aizawa.
You guys didn’t speak the whole way home, you opted for silence mostly because it wasn’t that big of a deal and he just didn’t know what to say. You had never done anything like that before, or had he just never caught you? When did that start?
He remembered when you were little and you’d give your vegetables to stray animals so you didn’t have to eat them, or when you tried to sneak out at night and he caught you. But those were all pretty minor things, and he was only always concerned with your safety.
You’d never done anything this bad, and in terms of the worst thing you could do of course this wasn’t horrible but he still didn’t get why. It couldn’t have just been for fun.
He entered the house after unlocking the door and opening it for you. Before you could make it to your room, where you’d probably go to sulk, he decided he’d ask.
“Why did you want to do that y/n?”
You stopped and turned around to face him. He was standing in front of the door, and now that you actually took in his appearance he looked tired. His dark circles more prominent, eyes a light pink most likely from his quirk, and his black pants had small patches of dust that had been hastily patted off on them.
You replied after a moment, briefly forgetting his question, “For fu-“
“And don’t just say for fun, because I know you and there are plenty of other things you would do for fun.”
You huffed resigning to just come out with it, “it was a bet.”
“A bet?”
“My friends bet me that I wouldn’t get high with them since I’m a hero’s daughter.”
“And you decided to take them up on that?”
“Yes, I know it was stupid okay?”
“I know you know, you’re smarter than that. So why’d you say yes?”
Why’d he have to be so persistent? “Maybe because I thought I’d finally get some friends.”
“What do you mean y/n? You do have friends.”
“No, I don’t. Momo, Tsu, and Uraraka only hang out with me out of pity, since you’re their teacher, if they even have time-“
“Pity? Y/n no they don’t, there’s nothing pitiful about you at all-“
You scoffed, “don’t lie. I get you’re my dad and all but be honest with yourself, truly honest.”
“I am being honest. I’d never lie-“
Guess you’d just have to spell it out for him then. “The only daughter you had killed your wife, was born quirk-less, and there’s nothing special about her!” You were shocked at the admission of your own feelings but kept going, “I don’t have a talent, I’m not exceptionally smart, I’m not breathtakingly pretty, and I can’t even make friends!” You listed raising a finger for each reason, “Now tell me what about that is not pitiful?”
After that question there was silence, and Aizawa was just looking at you. You hadn’t even noticed you were crying until the first tear slid down your nose crease and hit the corner of your lip. Before touching could even wipe your tear or register the sound of footsteps approaching you, you were being hugged. Fully covered by his arms, your head grazing the bottom of his chin where stubble had began to grow, face buried partially into his scarf.
You heard high pitched wailing, which you hadn’t even registered was you until his hand began to rub up and down your back with quiet ‘shh’s to try calming you.
“Don’t cry, it’s okay. It’s not your fault, none of it okay?” He began whispering in your ear.
“Your mom and I both knew the challenges she’d have if she gave birth to you. We were well aware, and she wanted to have you. She didn’t care if she’d die in the process, you are our child.”
He continued comforting you, and when you eventually calmed down he let go and gently pulled your face out of his chest so you could look him in his tired, red eyes. “I love you so much, and I’m sorry if I don’t tell you that enough okay? It’s my fault I’m sorry. You are the best thing that’s ever happened to me, and you’re perfect. I mean that, I’d never lie. You don’t need a quirk, to be super smart, or have a special talent. You’re perfect to me, okay? And that’s all that matters. You’re important to me,” he said firmly.
“Okay?”
You sniffled, reaching a hand to wipe your nose, “okay.”
“Hey,” he said turning your face back to his, “I really mean it, I’d be no where without you. And how could you say you’re not beautiful? I know I’m not the best looking hero, but haven’t you seen the pictures of your mom? You take after her, gorgeous. Nothing I’d ever change about you, I don’t regret anything.”
“Okay,” you said slightly unused to him saying these things, “I’ve never heard you say something so corny dad,” you said chuckling trying to lighten the mood.
At that, he gave a small grin which faded when he remembered your earlier point, “And Ochaco, Tsuyu, and Yaoyorozu do like being your friend. Not just because I’m their teacher, trust me I’m more of a supervisor if anything. I let them figure most stuff out on their own. They wanted to meet and hang out with you. I don’t think you give yourself enough credit, you make friends just fine.”
“I know, I know, it was just heat of the moment stuff dad.”
He let out a sigh of relief, hugged you once more, and pressed a kiss to the top of your forehead.
“I still have about another hour of night patrol, but I’ll stay here if you want me to?”
“No dad, it’s fine go.”
He looked at you once more as if saying, ‘are you sure?’
“Yes I’m sure I’m fine, it’s only an hour anyways.”
“Okay, call me if you need anything, I’ll be back soon,” he said headed towards the door.
“Okay,” you said starting to walk to your room.
But just before he shut the door you dashed for it and started, “Hey! does this mean-“
“No you’re still grounded,” he said.
And with that the door shut.

It was safe to say that Ghost and Price had a long conversation that night.
“How much does she know?”
The captain had asked, hat hanging over his head before he picked it off between two fingers, setting it on the bedside table in a guest room. The two available rooms were split with Gaz and Price in one, and Ghost and Soap in the other.
Simon thought for a solid moment. He hadn’t told you anything, other than he was going to the military. He’d stayed over at your place maybe once before, years earlier, and all he’d told you was that he had a mission, an important one, something he couldn’t tell you about. To keep you safe.
It wasn’t a lie. At first, you’d been angry that he wouldn’t tell you, but something must’ve clicked at 15 because that was when you stopped questioning it altogether. Then again, at that point, he’d rarely texted you or called you at all. It had been years since physical words were exchanged at this point.
He felt bad about it, but with the last words exchanged between the two of you…it made regret and grief flare up in him all over again.
~
You were pacing. Back and forth, and he wouldn’t be surprised if you burnt a trail in the carpet with how frenzied you looked. Shock, grief, anger, and pure disbelief mixed all into one, your body language reflecting as much.
He hadn’t even taken his mask off yet, leaning against the wall behind him in the home his mother had grown up in. The home he’d grown up in. A home you’d visited before, only because of the court-deemed custody that your father somehow got.
“You didn’t come to the funeral.”
His harsh voice finally rang out, and your pacing stopped. You turned to look at him, defensiveness automatically rendering itself in your expression. Always so easy to read. If only you were like that now.
“I couldn’t make it in time. You know that, Simon.”
You said, and his temper flared. Every single lesson he’d had drilled into him in his military-deemed anger management classes went out of the window at that. At how you defended yourself, even when he knew you could’ve made it on time for that funeral. Or at least he thought you could’ve.
“Really? Or did you know about this, huh?”
He accused, anger building in his tone as he pushed off the wall, stalking closer to you, now pacing in his own slower, more predatory manner. Your eyes widened at his accusation.
“You think I was plotting to kill your mum? The fuck is wrong with you?”
Simon knew it was outrageous, there was no way in hell you would’ve done it. Not when you’d known her, even if only for a little bit. But Ghost….Ghost had been betrayed too many times. He was desperate for any answer, any way to get rid of you so he didn’t have to deal with any reminder of his mother, or Tommy, or his little nephew that had been so painfully young.
Maybe you didn’t understand, but if he made himself believe this…then you wouldn’t be around him anymore, and he wouldn’t have to worry about anyone killing you like they had everyone else around him.
“What about Tommy? Or Joseph? Didn’t make it to theirs either, did you.”
“Simon, I came as soon as I could, you know that. I was in that camp for a month, there was nothing I could-“
“That’s convenient, isn’t it.”
He said drily, stalking closer, hand moving to the hilt of his gun. You didn’t notice, probably because you had no military training or anything of the sort. If he wanted to kill you right now, make you disappear, he could. Easily, too. He could already think of how he’d do it, the silencer on his gun covering the sound as he would shoot you, once in the head, twice in the heart, then he would take you down into the sewers, and you’d disappear-
“You’re fucking crazy.”
Your voice, slightly scared now, and your body language showing just how intimidated and panicked you were, was wobbly at best. Tears welled in your eyes as you opened the door to leave out of the front, your car, a black jeep you weren’t old enough to drive yet, but did anyway thanks to the fake ID you’d made, parked in the rocky driveway.
He snatched your arm up, yanking you back into the room as he pressed you against the wall he’d previously been leaning on. He leaned close, breath coming through the fabric of his baklava and speaking softly, like the old Simon would, to you in your ear.
“I wouldn’t blame you, you know.” He began.
“He was your dad, he was all you had, wasn’t he? Maybe you were jealous, or angry about what happened to him. What I did to him.”
He almost whispered to you, as if it was some forbidden knowledge. Your small body was stiff against the wall, unconsciously leaning away from him. You were terrified. He could feel it.
“You’re insane. Completely fuckin’ insane.”
You said, trying to squirm away, and he let you gain an inch of room, only to force you another inch against the wall. One more and your breathing would be strained if you could breathe at that.
“I’ll let you off, but if I find out you had anything to do with this, with her…”
He didn’t get to finish the rest before you struggled free, and you made it to your car quicker than ever before, and drove off, not caring about any speed limits or anything.
~
“Simon? You here?”
Price’s voice snapped him out of whatever trance he’d been in, and he gave a little grunt in response. Shaking himself out of it, he tried to remember what the captain’s question had been. Something about what you knew.
“The bare minimum.”
“Good. She seems like a good kid, keep her outta this.”
Simon didn’t mention the fact that you had already faced minor charges multiple times, some for breaking and entering or assault and battery, most of which were dismissed by a judge he suspected was paid off. Or the fact that you’d used a fake ID for your car for multiple years. He would know, considering he’d asked Gaz to find you multiple times. You weren’t an easy one to find, almost as if you’d tried to wipe yourself off the grid before turning back on it.
You weren’t a good kid by any means, but by your age, he’d probably been killing people already, so he supposed there were worse things to be doing.
“Roger that.”
Price gave a small nod of confirmation, clapping him on the shoulder as he went to walk to the room that he was sharing with Gaz.
“Get some rest, Simon. We’ll get directions from Laswell tomorrow. Don’t stress over it.”
Despite himself, Simon gave a little nod.
If only he was stressing over things as simple as terrorists and covert warfare.
~
Soap, surprisingly enough, woke up first. It was around 5:30 AM when he did, and Simon was still fast asleep on the bed beside him.
“Scuse me, Lt.”
He mumbled while sliding out of the bed, and walking to where he thought the kitchen probably was, and after wandering around, he found one small dim light on in the general kitchen area. You were standing in the kitchen, wrapping some sort of spandex-looking bandage material around your left knee. The type to help support it, in the case of an injury.
You were wearing a pair of blank shorts that didn’t go nearly far enough down your thighs, and what looked like an old jersey, with a faded number ‘14’ on it. Your right knee had a knee pad on, your left knee pad laying on the table. Your hair was pulled back into a ponytail that was braided.
You both just stared at each other for a minute, before he grinned and obnoxiously whistled.
“Lookin’ good, lass. Where ya headed?”
He asked, already watching the gears turn in your head as you tried to decode his thick accent. Surprisingly, it didn’t take you nearly as long as he thought it would. Usually, new people had to take a few seconds, but you responded almost immediately.
“Practice.”
You replied bluntly, either not a morning person, or just not a talker. By the blank look on your face, he was just assuming you were also a heartless bastard like Ghost. But even Simon Riley had his tells, and he was sure you did too.
“What the hell’ve they got you practicing for at 5 in the mornin’?” He asked, and you looked at him for a moment, as if trying to see if what he’d said was a joke. As if he was stupid. He was not stupid.
“Volleyball. I’m on the team. Got a scholarship.”
His brows raised at that. Another blunt answer. You really were Simon’s sister, weren’t you? And to get a scholarship in volleyball…he hadn’t even known you’d gone to a private school, let alone the fact that you played sports.
I mean, sure, he’d sort of assumed you might based on your muscular thighs and arms he was entranced by, or the sheer unmoving look you always had, barely changing. Volleyball girls always had nice asses though, and you weren’t an exception, that was for sure.
You were either telepathic or had seen him staring because, with a simple snap of your fingers, he had flinched out of his daze.
“Eyes up here, MacTavish.”
You said in a mildly annoyed tone, and he gave you a slightly pouty look.
“Can’t blame me for looking at it when it’s right there, now can you?”
You had only given him another annoyed glance, before slinging a bag over your shoulder and walking out. He didn’t fail to notice the way you checked the peephole before walking out. Or how your eyes darted to the windows consistently, or the nearest available exit.
He didn’t blame you, living alone as a girl in this end of town, you had to be cautious.
~
They had been at this all day.
Laswell had radioed them in earlier, probably around noon after they’d raided your pantry, which only really had bread in various forms in it. Your fridge wasn’t much better, only cheap lunch meats, lettuce, tomatoes, and a few miscellaneous vegetables and fruits.
Since then, they’d been on the hunt for any suspicious characters, any sign of the terrorist group that had gotten away. It had taken a bit of travel, but a few miles out, they’d passed a van, white, with four burly shadowy figures in the darkened windows. Windows too dark to even be legal.
“Armed men, four of ‘em, cap.”
Soap had said, and Price had only given a nod, taking a U-turn to trail the vehicle. It wasn’t every day you would see any military men driving in a white van with tinted windows.
It had only escalated from there.
The van had stopped near an old alleyway with no people around, failing to notice T141, who were now all trailing on foot. They’d left the car behind with Gaz, despite his protests. They needed someone able to drive, and Soap was needed to disable any possible bombs. They were dealing with terrorists here.
Slowly crawling up the building to the right of the alleyway, Ghost let his gun peek down into it through some crumbling brick on the sides of the roof’s edge.
“We droppin’ em’?”
He asked quietly over the radio, and Price, on the building roof opposite of him, replied.
“Not yet. If we can get one alive, we’ll want ‘im for interrogation. Three of ‘em on my count.”
Soap, to the left of Ghost, nodded mainly to himself, his gun focusing on the man closest to a trash can, Price on the man to the right of him, and Ghost to the man leading the other two. The fourth was lingering behind a bit, examining the surroundings. Paranoid.
“Gaz, start bringing in our exfil.”
“Got it, Captain.”
“On your mark, Sergeant.”
With that, the first relatively silent shot went off, and two more followed until all that was left was the one man, who immediately took cover and jumped through the open window of the nearly abandoned building Price was on the roof of.
“Shit. Get him.”
Price’s voice cursed over the radio, and Gaz driving the car came into view only moments later, as Ghost and Soap hopped down from the roof of the building, taking the same route as the escaped terrorist through the building, and clearing it one floor at a time.
Hours later, it felt like they’d searched the whole damn city and come up with absolutely nothing. Whoever they’d missed had disappeared completely, and possibly contacted outside forces of their presence. They had to be careful with this.
“We headin’ back?” Soap asked, and Price replied.
“Affirmative. I’ll let Laswell know what happened.”
And so they headed back to the apartment, only to find you completely not there. Gaz got there first, gun still in hand as he cleared the apartment. Just in case.
“Clear.” He radioed over,
The rest of the boys filed in after that, taking the time to take showers, in the hope that you wouldn’t notice their bloodstained clothes. It was only after they had all changed into casual clothes that Soap remembered about you.
“Anyone know where the girl is?”
Gaz seemed to stir at that, immediately on his feet, when Ghost pushed him back down into the chair he was sitting in at the dinner table.
“She’s at school, lads.” His rough voice spoke, and Gaz and Soap both made an “ohhhh” sound at the answer. It was obvious, but they hadn’t gone to school in…a long time, and you were almost an adult now, so they tended to forget about that.
“Where does she go?” Price asked, taking a sip of his cup of water. Ghost shrugged.
“Some private school, said she got a scholarship for volleyball or somethin’,” Soap added, and Ghost shot a tiny glare at him. The fact that a random Scottish man knew more about you than Simon Riley, your technical brother, wasn’t making him too happy. Soap only gave him a cheeky grin in return.
“You seem to know an awful lot about her, Soap.”
Kyle then spoke up, carefully eying Simon and Johnnie. Even as Simon huffed out of his nose, taking a sip of water. His lips were chapped, Gaz noticed. Soap gave a little shrug, a smirk pulling at his lips.
“Just curious about ‘er is all. We are living in her house, after all.” He answered, and Price stood up, mumbling something about a smoke break while walking across the kitchen to reach the balcony, where he smoked. The first time he’d tried to smoke inside, you’d grabbed it straight from his fingers, and thrown it into the sink before running cold water over it.
It took him a minute to realize that had only been yesterday night.
The week went by quickly, and the boys slowly got used to your schedule. More like they just started fitting into the routine you had, really. Having four random military men inside of your house wasn’t easy, especially when they kept leaving the toilet seat up in the bathroom in the hallway.
“Couldn’t just put the seat down, could they..”
You mumbled to yourself late into the night, slamming the seat down as hard as you could without breaking it. Every time they left it up, you made sure to put it down hard, making enough noise to wake them up. Distantly, you could’ve sworn you heard Johnny’s laughter from the room he was in with Simon, before a low “Shut it.” and a “Roger that, Lt.” was faintly audible.
You had practice almost every night, even some on weekends, which made sense considering you were the team captain for the junior varsity of your school. Once you became a Senior next year, you’d probably get team captain of the full varsity team. A big responsibility, but one you seemed to enjoy, even when some days you would come home, lock yourself in your room, and fall straight asleep without eating anything.
Where they went every day, you never asked. Didn’t want to.
One night, Price walked into the kitchen, where you kept a washer and dryer for the clothes as well, tucked into the room where it wasn’t easily noticed, and saw you pouring hydrogen peroxide on some bloodstains in their clothes. It was strong, stronger than anything you could legally get from a pharmacy, he could tell that much.
Your eyes both met, and you didn’t waver from his stare, and he didn’t from yours.
“You aren’t going to ask questions?” He asked, voice a deep rumble. Your eyes shifted away at that, back to the clothes. As if hiding whatever gleamed within them, the knowledge you had, or what you’d seen. What you knew they did every day.
“Better for all of us if I don’t.”
You’d replied simply, voice still relatively neutral, the barest amount of a British accent lingering even when you’d spent so many years in America. You almost mumbled it, as if used to speaking quietly. Based on the small fragments he knew of Simon’s past, and his father, one that you both shared, he wasn’t surprised. It would be a hard habit to break.
Whatever had kept you from interacting much with Price must’ve changed after that night, because you showed up more after that. It was late at night, and you looked beat, but he could still see the gears working behind your eyes.
“What is it?” He asked as you walked over to where he was sitting in the bed he and Gaz shared, and sat down next to him on it, showing him a notebook. He recognized what was on it, a court of some sort, a net in the middle, and a rotation of numbers, with all the enemy patterns and numbers on the other side of the net.
“Help.”
You stated simply, and he nodded before you explained to him the basics of volleyball. He only really knew the frequently adjusted rules he’d seen on the Olympics sometimes, so it was a lot of explaining, but after that, the both of you were straight to work on finding a rotation and pattern that would work to beat the team that you’d lost to twice this season.
“If 28 is your hitter, why not move them back row, to move in for the kill?”
“It would leave our defenses entirely open. A tip could lose the point and serve, and when we got the serve back, 14 would be serving. She doesn’t do well with serving under pressure. 28 needs to stay front row as long as possible to block.”
“Got it, so..”
He would admit, you were not stupid, and that was for sure. You knew everyone on your team’s strengths and weaknesses and used them to your advantage. It was almost like looking at a younger, female version of himself. Always taking charge, always thinking ahead.
And Johnny…he was obnoxious.
Always flirting with you in any way he could, making random jokes just to hear your tiny laugh or the snort you usually made instead. He couldn’t help it, even when the rest of the guys were getting sick of hearing him.
But, he had his uses, too.
When the remote would break down? Don’t worry, he only took it entirely apart, replaced and tweaked it so it would work, and put it all back together with his nails as a screwdriver.
When you were in an especially foul mood? His terrible jokes came in handy, not because you were laughing at them, but at how stupid he looked telling these jokes, chest puffed out like a proud bird when he saw you snort or your lips twitch, even though he didn’t know whether you were laughing with him or at him.
Johnny was smarter than you originally thought, as well. Had incredibly complicated math homework, and giving you a serious headache? Somehow, the bastard knew exactly how to do it.
“How do you know that equation.”
“It’s simple, really, I use it all the time for me explosives. Reminds me of the time I and the Lt planted them all over, you should’ve seen-“
“On topic, Johnny.”
“Right, sorry.”
But living with military men did have downsides, more obvious than them leaving the toilet seat up, forgetting to do the dishes when it was their day or the same for laundry, or messing up the guest beds. (Though Gaz never forgot about his responsibilities, even taking the time to make you dinner when you would get home late with what little ingredients you had.)
You were a quiet person, and Gaz had noticed it first. How you rolled on your feet, careful not to make noise, not even noticing how you were doing it. Or the way that unless you were slamming the toilet seat down for the umpteenth time, you took extra care in placing things down gently, not dropping them. It was an odd contrast with your blunt, slightly harsh demeanor that reminded him of Simon.
But it had been Gaz that made you fully remember what these men had gone through when you had been scared shitless because of Soap purposefully sneaking up behind you and scaring you, and accidentally letting out a small scream that was more like a yell. Instinct had kicked in, muscle memory as well, and before his mind even knew whose scream it was, his body was moving.
He’d tackled Soap straight to the floor, hands around his throat.
“The fuck, Kyle-“ Johnny had choked out, and it had been Price who’d snatched Gaz up, restraining his hands against his back while you watched in slight sympathy.
It had taken him only a few seconds to calm back down and figure out what the hell was happening, at which he sighed, giving Soap a regretful look.
“Sorry, don’t know what got into me.” He mumbled, and Johnny only stood up, brushing his knees off, and patted Kyle softly on the back.
“Don’t. I get it.” The Scotsman said, before walking out. When he glanced at you, it was the empathy for him that Kyle found most odd. The fact that you seemed to understand.
It was only weeks later that he understood why you could empathize with him over his actions.

“Do I really have to wear this? It’s so stuffy.” Danny complained, tugging at the collar of his shirt.
Clockwork hummed lightly, smoothing down the vest that kept getting bunched up no matter what Danny did “It is traditional for the King to wear clothing befitting their station.”
“Okay, but, counterpoint, I really think my normal suit would be fine-“
“Daniel. We have been over this.” Clockwork said with a sigh.
Danny rolled his eyes, but didn’t argue anymore.
They had, in fact, been over this. They didn’t want to give anyone an excuse to dispute his claim to the throne, or start a stupid fight about him being a bad choice for King.
That last bit was most likely to happen because of the Observants, which Clockwork had told Danny would be ‘an annoyance’. Considering that was strong wording for Clockwork, and weirdly straightforward as well, Danny was taking him pretty seriously about it.
Anyway, what it meant was, unfortunately, Danny was stuck wearing the stuffy formal clothes.
Okay, to be fair, they weren’t that stuffy. They just weren’t as casual as he would’ve liked them to be. For that, he’d need to be in jeans and a t-shirt, or his suit.
At least the belt had a pocket for his thermos.
Danny turned, grabbing the notecards for his speech. He’d spent the last few days trying to come up with something that didn’t completely suck, and hopefully he’d managed to do it.
He was not that confident, however. Clockwork had refused to help him with it, stating that “A King’s words must be their own, whether or not they are.”
“Tell me again why I have to do this? I really think I could get away with not doing it.” He said, stuffing the notecards in the same pocket as his thermos.
Clockwork did not sigh, but Danny could tell he wanted to.
“You need to announce your intentions as King, as well as formally swear to uphold the mantle of the Ghost King and protect the Realms. You cannot ‘get away with not doing it’.”
Danny floated off the ground, flipping onto his stomach so he could prop his head up on his hands “Okay, yeah all that is important, but like, I really think I could just not do it and everything would be fine. There’s no way Pariah did it-“
“Pariah Dark did, in fact, have a formal speech, swear-in, and coronation.” Clockwork said, cutting him off.
Well damn, there goes his best argument. Wait-
“You’re telling me Pariah Dark, as in the same Pariah Dark who was completely insane, made a speech about how he was going to ‘protect the Realms’ and be a good King?” Danny asked, bewilderment in his voice.
Clockwork sighed, an amused tone to it.
“Well, no. His speech was much more focused on ‘crushing his enemies’ and being ‘the most powerful ghost’. However, he still made one.”
Danny sighed, before lowering himself back onto the ground “Fine, fine, I guess I do have to make the stupid speech. Would’ve been more convenient if I could’ve done the coronation at the same time.”
He was being a little bit petty with that. But, to be fair, Clockwork had literally just shown up in his room, in the middle of the night, with the Crown and Ring and crowned him right then and there. Well, not quite then, seeing as time had been frozen. Regardless, the entire thing had been weird.
“You had to be crowned then, Daniel. Just as you have to make this speech now.”
Vague, and unhelpful. Just like Clockwork usually was.
Clockwork reached out to smooth out the vest again, since Danny twisting in the air had messed it up.
…Okay, maybe he wasn’t usually unhelpful. At least when he wasn’t trying to be.
Ancients, everything about Clockwork was so confusing-
“Are you ready, Daniel?”
Danny shook his head slightly, focusing back on Clockwork.
“Ready as I can be, I guess.”
Clockwork nodded, before opening the door and stepping out into the hallway.
Danny followed after him, not bothering to close the door behind him. Technically, the Keep was his now, so it didn’t matter.
He was not actually planning to spend time here, but it was the principle of the thing.
As they walked through the Keep, Danny could see the finishing touches on the renovation being completed, ghosts floating around and carefully reshaping the architecture. The renovation was mostly for the ghosts that actually enjoyed the Keep, but Danny had been the one to start it.
The whole point was to make the castle not quite as crumbly, and not as gloomy. He’d wanted to make it nice, since it was technically his. He’d also wanted to make it better for the ghosts who liked it and wanted to live there.
Already, it was looking a heck of lot better with repaired walls and more color. Though, since he’d put other ghosts in charge of the actual decoration, a lot of the decoration was in ‘his colors’, which everyone seemed to define as black, white, and a bit of green. At least it was better than the grey and blacks of the Keep previously. The white brought at least some brightness into the long hallways.
Clockwork stopped outside the door to the throne room, turning back to Danny.
He inclined his head, gesturing for Danny to step into the room ahead of him.
Which, for the record, Danny did not want to do.
But unfortunately, he couldn’t avoid this.
He sighed, before stepping in front of Clockwork and through the door.
Oh that was entirely too many ghosts. There had to be at least three hundred crammed in the throne room, waiting for his speech. They were stretching the limits of how many of them could fit in here comfortably.
Danny had a feeling the only reason there weren’t any more was because a bunch of the Realms had sent representatives, as opposed to multiple of their denizens coming.
He knew there were representatives because of the fact that a ton of them sent letters ahead, giving him their regards and generally sucking up to him.
He was not a fan of that part of being king. He was literally a random teenager, why were these people trying so hard to get his favor?
He knew why, obviously, but it was still a valid question. He couldn’t even drive! Though ghosts probably didn’t care about that, actually.
He finally looked away from the crowd, seeing the raised dais where the throne sat, as well as the ghosts on it. Clockwork had made his way over at some point, and-
Ugh. Great. The Observants were here. Or at least one of them was. Probably to ‘keep an eye on things.
It was fine, he had the notecards. He wasn’t going to give them an excuse to yell at him. Or Clockwork. Ancients, did he hate the amount of control the stupid eyeballs had over him-
“King Phantom!”
Danny froze as he realized he’d been spotted by the crowd. The door had let out just next to the dais, slightly out of sight, so he hadn’t caught their attention immediately, but now that one of them had noticed him, they all noticed him. He quickly stopped being able to recognize his name in the cacophony that followed.
Danny winced, before floating up onto the dais. As he did, the crowd quieted, all of them waiting for him to speak.
No pressure, or anything.
At least he remembered how he was supposed to start his speech.
“Greetings, Dead and Neverborn of the Infinite Realms. Thank you for attending to this speech, as it was not ordered of you.” As he spoke, Danny carefully pulled out his notecards and hid them behind his back. Hopefully, he wouldn’t have to use them, but he didn’t want to fumble them if he did.
The crowd cheered, some of them looking at him with expressions that bordered on mania. He’d realized, in all the preparation for this speech and fixing up the Keep, that a few of the ghosts were desperate for a ruler. That wasn’t, y’know, Pariah Dark.
It was really weird to think they saw him as the solution to their problems.
“In this speech, my intentions as ruler will be formerly declared, as well as illustrated through the taking of vows-“
Danny froze, feeling something. It felt almost like his ghost sense, but different. A sense that the area in front of him was warping-
The crowd in front of him shifted nervously-
He heard the Observant mutter-
And then the something snapped.
Hovering in front of him was a staff, horizontal and roughly level with his waist. On one end, a black hole lay, drawing some of the ambient ectoplasm into it. On the other, a white hole, small shapes that almost looked like birds flying out. Connecting them, a thin bridge of bright green rods, mimicking the way that space-time was shown in every textbook he’d seen.
Danny took a breath, feeling the powercoming off the staff in waves.
-Child king, betwixt realms you lie.-
Danny startled at the voice, seeming to come from every corner of the room and yet not reaching more than him.
-In this, you are unique. In this, your potential is revealed. In this, your responsibility.-
Danny felt frozen, held in place by the voice and the staff.
-Reach out to Space, child king. To the Space between stars. Reach out and hold your fate.-
Danny shuddered, feeling the voice retreat, the staff floating in front of him folding back into itself. He could tell that no one else had heard it, the crowd’s faces uneasy and full of confusion.
He stared at the staff, seeing the twin spaces at the ends swirl, shine, reach out and touch the world around them.
He- The staff felt right, somehow. The idea of taking it up, holding it for the rest of his afterlife. It wasn’t like anything he’d ever felt.
The Crown and Ring were a burden, one forced on him by circumstances and Vlad’s rash actions.
Even other artifacts, like the Infini-Map, were neutral presences on his senses.
The staff felt like coming home.
He held out a hand to it, dropping the notecards.
They fluttered to the ground as he reached out to grab it.
His fingers barely an inch away as the Observant screeched “No!”
Grazing the staff, the buzzing of the black and white holes overtaking him, as he faintly heard Clockwork declare “A master of Space has been chosen.”
His hand wrapped around the staff, and pain surged into him.
Cold and burning and tearing his very atoms apart-
Fractals of ice surged out from him, Danny just barely able to see the crowd flinch away and panic through the tears in his eyes.
He dropped to his knees, no longer able to hold himself up in the face of the pain coursing through his entire body. The staff was still gripped in his hand, his muscles locking around it as it threw all its power into him.
He could feel it as parts of him changed, as parts of him broke and reformed in the wake of the staff’s power, of Space, pouring into him.
He wasn’t big enough, he couldn’t contain it, Space was too large-
Space was infinity, Space was miniscule, Space was shredding him-
Danny’s vision blurred, and he listed to the side as the pain reached a crescendo.
He caught a hint of purple in the corner of his view as he screamed, as he fell to pieces, as he-
As he passed out, mercifully feeling nothing.
***
He woke up slowly, blinking up at the unfamiliar ceiling for a while.
He’d been about to give his speech, but he’d only gotten through some of it before-
His hand flexed around the staff, still clutched in his grip.
 Right. He’d passed out.
Danny blinked again. Wait, he’d passed out cause of the pain. But.
He felt fine. Better than fine, really. He felt like he’d gotten a normal amount of sleep for once, on top of having more energy than he’d had since the ghost attacks started.
He also felt…different.
He frowned, sitting up.
He glanced down at the staff, hearing it hum as he moved it around. It looked the same, other than-
Huh. In the center of the green links, there were black and white ribbons of ectoplasm twining around each other, shifting and changing before his eyes.
Had that happened because of him grabbing the staff?
It must have.
Danny glanced around the room, at the gears and clocks on the walls. Clockwork must’ve taken him back to Long Now after he passed out. Which, thank the Ancients for that. The other options would’ve been staying at the Keep, which, no thank you, or trying to get Danny back to the human realm while he was passed out, which would’ve gone even worse than staying at the Keep.
He looked at the room for a moment longer, and became aware of something.
The room wasn’t real. Well, it was real, of course it was. But it wasn’t really a room.
It was just measures of space, of objects in space and measures of their own space.
Easily manipulated with just a moment of effort-
Danny twitched the hand holding the staff, not even thinking as he did it, and found himself by the far wall. It wasn’t teleportation, it wasn’t even moving. It was just changing how he viewed the space. There was no difference between him sitting on the bed and him standing by the wall, not really, not from his point of view-
Danny shook his head, snapping himself out of the trance he’d gone into when he’d realized the room wasn’t real. Okay, that was weird. He could still see, or sense, the way that the Space in the room had no fundamental difference between it. He could definitely pull the little trick of moving Space around him again, if he wanted to.
This was really weird. And not normal, even for ghosts. They teleported, yeah, but not like that. He should be freaking out.
But the staff still felt like home, felt safe, felt right.
And the way that Space folded around him at the slightest desire from himself felt right, too. Like it was meant to be this way.
…He should find Clockwork.
He’d know what was happening, why this staff had appeared in front of Danny. Why it seemed to have been waiting for him.
He opened the door with the hand that wasn’t holding the staff. Briefly, he wondered if he could set it down. The amount of wrongness that hit him at the thought of doing that confirmed he couldn’t, at least for now.
That really should’ve sent him into a panic attack or something. It didn’t.
Instead, he felt calm, even giddy. The staff was so cool!
The concept of having a black hole so neatly contained was already insane, and he really wanted to know how it worked but had an unfortunate feeling that the answer was magic, or at least close to it-
But having a white hole, of all things! It proved that they existed, even if just on the end of an impossible staff. Danny was the first human to see one! It proved the theory that they were the inverse of black holes as well, since it was on the opposite end-
Danny blinked, stopping in his tracks in the hallway. Huh.
Were the holes connected? If he sucked something into the black hole, would it appear out of the white hole?
Earlier it had just been pulling in ambient ectoplasm, though it strangely wasn’t doing that anymore, and putting out the bird-lookalike energy, but now that he had claimed it, would something different happen?
Logically, it should be more controlled. That was probably why it wasn’t pulling in ambient ectoplasm, and why it hadn’t sucked up the bed he had been in.
Danny looked down at the staff, watching the black and white energy twine together inside the staff.
On one hand, he really should go find Clockwork.
On the other hand, it couldn’t hurt if he played around with the staff a bit first, right?
He was pretty sure it was connected to him, and did what he wanted, so it wasn’t like he was accidentally going to cause a Space-Time anomaly or anything.
Unless he wanted to. He probably could if he wanted to.
But Danny was not going to do that, especially not in the middle of Clockwork’s lair.
That would just be rude.
Though, he really didn’t think Clockwork would care that much what he did as long as there wasn’t too much damage to be easily repairable. The ghost had always been nice to Danny, and accommodating, excluding their first meeting.
Their first meeting was a disaster. And also one that was not going to be repeated, ever, for multiple reasons.
Anyway! The point is he really wanted to mess around with the staff.
So, he was gonna mess around with the staff.
Danny grinned, holding the staff out in front of him like he’d seen his sister do with her bo staff.
He…was probably going to have to bother her for lessons if this turned out to be a staff he could actually fight with.
Danny shook his head, concentrating on the staff. He might as well test out the black hole first, since that fed into the white hole.
He glanced around, looking for something he could destroy without it being too much of a problem, or too annoying for Clockwork. He zeroed in on a small vase, one without any of the clock or gear imagery Clockwork was fond of. Instead, it had what looked like fish swimming through seaweed, though they weren’t like any fish Danny had ever seen, fins branching off fins.
Either way, not something Clockwork was likely to care if Danny destroyed. It was probably something he’d picked up or been given, and shoved in the hallway so he wouldn’t have to see it.
Danny knew for a fact that Clockwork spent most of his time in his viewing room, or the garden. Well, and the living room, but he was pretty sure that had only started after Danny started coming around.
He was pretty sure the living room hadn’t even existed before he’d started coming around.
It was nice, that Clockwork had made such a comfy space for him.
Danny shook his head again. He needed to stop getting off track. Thinking about feelings and stuff later, testing cool new staff now.
He braced himself, before sweeping the staff out at the vase. He made contact with it, the black hole dragging and distorting the vase as it pulled it in. That’s so cool-
Danny, unfortunately, had overestimated the amount of force he should put behind his swing. He realized this as the black hole kept moving forward, and made contact with one of the many clocks on the walls.
The brass machinery was sucked into the black hole, a shrieking sound following as it was ripped off the wall. Danny winced, hastily pulling back the staff.
Okay, noted. This thing was a lot lighter than it looked. Or it just felt lighter to him. Either way, hopefully Clockwork would forgive him about the clock.
Though, Danny wasn’t going to tell him if he could avoid it. It was more a hope that Clockwork would forgive him when he inevitably found out on his own.
He glanced back at the wall, seeing that despite the horrible noise it had made, pulling the clock off it hadn’t damaged it all that much. At least he’d gotten rid of the vase.
Danny started to float down the hall. He probably needed to head to the viewing room, he’d bet that’s where Clockwork was.
It took him a minute or so of floating through the halls to remember the original reason he’d been experimenting with the staff.
He wanted to figure out if something would come out of the white hole after being sucked into the black hole. He glanced around, seeing that the hallway he was in now didn’t have anything he was likely to destroy if he messed up again. The walls were full of interlocking gears, and Danny knew from experience they were not easily destroyed.
He may or may not have accidentally hit one of them with an ectoblast. And some of his ice. And also himself. He’d been running on an hour of sleep and three ghost fights, it really wasn’t his fault. Clockwork had barely managed to avoid laughing, Danny could just tell. He’d let him take a nap outside of time after that though, so that made up for it.
Anyway, the gears were not likely to get messed up, was his point.
Danny looked at the staff for a moment, before holding it out in front of himself again.
Okay, how was he gonna do this? It had seemed pretty obvious that the black hole had to touch things, though technically he bet that wasn’t so much a restriction of the staff as it was a restriction he was putting on the staff-
He needed to focus.
Danny tilted his head. Well, a bit of that ramble probably was useful. If the staff responded to him, which he was sure it did, it just hadn’t really sunk in yet- The staff responded to him.
So, he could do whatever and have the staff do what he wanted.
Danny grinned, before pulling back the staff and making a motion with it as if he was hurling an ectoblast at someone.
A burst of white light shot out of the staff, heading directly towards the gears on the wall, and it was then that Danny realized two things.
One, it looked like whatever went in the black hole got turned into energy, which made sense, at least a little bit-
And two, he hadn’t considered the fact that the staff was quite a bit more powerful than one of his ectoblasts.
The energy blast hit one of the gears, shattering it and stopping the spinning of the gears around it as they lost connection with each other.
Danny grimaced, looking at the remnants of the gear on the floor. That…was not going to be fun to fix. And he did not doubt that he would be the one fixing it, when Clockwork found out. At the very least, he’d be made to help.
He was gonna put off Clockwork finding out about this for as long as he could.
It wasn’t like the damage was in an area of Long Now he went through that often, and he’d told Danny that it often took him months to realize if something had gone awry with his lair, just due to how big it was and his own distorted sense of time.
So, if luck was on Danny’s side, which it almost never was, he wouldn’t have to fix the wall for a few months.
Danny sighed.
Yeah, he was fixing it before he left today, wasn’t he?
Unless something distracted Clockwork enough.
The staff in Danny’s hand hummed, and he realized that Clockwork probably was pretty distracted. He’d seemed to know what was going on with the whole ‘Master of Space’ thing, anyway.
Danny should probably find him, instead of destroying more stuff.
Accidentally destroying more stuff.
Danny shook his head, before flying down the hallway. The viewing room was usually close-ish to the living room and the garden, just cause Clockwork didn’t want to have to go that far if Danny visited or he needed to check on the time screens.
All Danny had to do was find one of the three rooms, and he was sure to find Clockwork.
Who would hopefully have some explanations.
***
In the end, it took about twenty minutes for Danny to find his way to the viewing room.
Long Now was big, and also Danny had spent perhaps too long wandering and thinking about the staff.
It turned out that the room he woke up in was pretty close to the living room, if he’d gone the other way in the hallway.
Which was a bit frustrating, but fine. He’d gotten to mess around with his cool new staff, anyway.
He opened the door to the viewing room, seeing Clockwork floating in front of the time screens, his back to Danny. Each screen showed a different era, from regency London to 80’s Japan. Danny had gotten a lot better at identifying time periods after he’d started hanging out at Long Now more, but it was weird that he could tell where the screens were showing. None of the scenes had specific landmarks, or people. He just…knew.
Probably due to his new staff, and title, now that he thought about it.
Clockwork turned, a small smile on his face as he faced Danny.
“I trust you’re satisfied with your staff and new powers, then?”
He sounded fond, exactly like he did when Danny managed to finish a homework problem he’d been struggling with, or like he did when Danny showed up to vent after a long day.
It became very clear, in that moment, that Clockwork knew everything. And that he had known this would happen for a while, maybe even since- since their first meeting.
He was the Master of Time, after all.
Danny drifted closer, watching Clockwork carefully.
“Why?”
He figured Clockwork had more than enough context to work out what he meant.
Clockwork hummed slightly “You’ve already worked out you are the Master of Space, yes?”
Danny nodded, before adding “I don’t know what it means, though. I know you’re the Master of Time-“
Danny cut himself off, a realization hovering at the edges of his thoughts.
The Master of Time. And the Master of Space.
Space-Time.
“I see you’ve figured it out, Daniel. The Realms needs both a Master of Space and a Master of Time, to be truly stable.” Clockwork said, turning back to his time screens.
Danny floated over to stand next to him.
“As you’ve seen, and participated in, my duty is to keep the Timeline running in the correct way, and to make sure things work out as they’re supposed to. But I am limited in directly interacting with the events I see, and limited in my abilities to intervene in any that need to change.”
Danny frowned. He’d thought that was all due to the Observants, but the way Clockwork was talking-
“The Realms choose the Masters, and I was chosen due to already having a strong connection to time, the ability to see the past and future. Though, I must admit, much of my current powers are due to my staff.” Clockwork continued, gesturing vaguely at the time screens.
Danny tilted his head slightly. The traveling in time, and stopping it, were because of the staff? He’d assumed that the staff was an extension of Clockwork’s powers, rather than the source-
Though, of course, his own staff was the source of his new powers.
“So, why was I chosen? I don’t really have any ‘Space-y’ powers, not without the staff.” Danny asked, shifting so he could see Clockwork’s face.
Clockwork smiled “I am getting to that, Daniel. The point is that it was simple, comparatively, for the Realms to choose me. Choosing the Master of Space is, was, much harder.”
Clockwork turned, floating over to be closer to one of the time screens, which shifted as Danny watched.
He flinched as it resolved into an image of the beginning of the portal accident, Sam and Tucker watching as Danny stepped into the portal. The scene stayed frozen, thank the Ancients.
Danny hesitantly came closer. Clockwork wouldn’t bring this up if it wasn’t important.
“The Master of Space must have a strong connection to both the Infinite Realms, and the Mortal one. Most ghosts are connected to the Infinite Realms just by virtue of their nature, but for a ghost to be truly connected to the Mortal Realm, and not just lingering behind? It takes something special, miraculous.”
Clockwork turned to Danny, a serious look on his face “It takes a halfa.”
Danny blinked, processing that.
“But, wait, if it only takes a halfa-“ Danny cringed, unable to finish his sentence. He did not relish the idea of Vlad having the amount of power that Clockwork did, even if it was Space instead of Time.
The amount of power that Danny now had.
Clockwork chuckled, a fond look on his face.
“It’s not quite that simple, Daniel. There is one other requirement, that is the reason that none of the other halfas before you were chosen.”
Danny gave Clockwork a questioning look, receiving a smile in return.
“I was chosen first. The Master of Space, then, must be able to work with me, and I them. None of the other candidates before you were capable of that. But you were.” Clockwork said, no small amount of awe in his voice.
Danny shifted uncomfortably. It was really weird, having Clockwork be amazed by him. He didn’t like it. He preferred it when Clockwork was being cryptic and annoying, actually.
Or soft and fond, like he was sometimes.
Either of them was better than this.
Clockwork drew back, his face going back to a blank, knowing look.
“The two Masters work together to protect the Realms, Daniel. Time to guide, monitor, and correct the Timeline, and Space to correct the Realms themselves. Closing dangerous natural portals, fixing fractured lands, and manipulating any psychical aspects of Timeline maintenance.”
He let out an unneeded breath, one likely entirely for show and Danny’s benefit.
“The Realms need both of us, Daniel.” There was a desperation in his voice, one very close to the awe from earlier, if slightly bent out of shape.
Danny backed up a little, Clockwork’s intensity scaring him slightly.
This was really weird, seeing Clockwork anything but perfectly in control.
And this was a lot, but-
But.
He looked down at the staff, still clutched in his hand.
The staff felt right. The title of ‘Master of Space’ felt right. What Clockwork was saying, under the desperation, felt right.
Danny had to do it. It was his responsibility, his fate. Just like the voice, which he guessed had been the Realms, had said.
“I wouldn’t need to give up my life in Amity Park, right?” he asked, nervousness in his voice.
The look of relief on Clockwork’s face, undercut by fondness and love, is what cemented Danny’s decision.
“Of course not, Daniel. It would help, in fact. Maintaining a strong connection to both planes is needed. All you would need to do is work with me.”
Danny took a deep breath, before looking Clockwork in the eyes, a smile on his face.
“Alright. I’ll do it.”
Clockwork returned the smile, and said “We have a lot of work to do, I admit.”
He waved a hand, shutting off the time screens.
“But we have Time.”
Danny couldn’t help himself.
 “And Space?” He asked.
Clockwork sighed, the smile still on his face.
“Yes, and Space.”
Danny grinned.
This was definitely one of the strangest things that had happened to him, including the whole Ghost King situation, but he had a feeling it was also going to be one of the best.
Clockwork opened the door out to the hallway, looking over at Danny as he did so.
“And Daniel? We will be starting with repairing that wall you broke.”
Danny groaned.
Of course they would be.

OP Men as Dads Part 3
Note: Part 3, Part 3!! I was asked by someone on AO3 to add Luffy, so I did that! I still view Luffy more as a brother or son, so I still don't expect to write anything romantic for him, but this I can do! I hope you all enjoy!
Tumblr media
Franky probably didn’t even think he’d ever get the chance to have kids, not after the train accident you know, but he’s excited for it! You’d have two boys around three to four years apart that are just like Franky in every way, but the older would be a bit more shy than the younger. They’ll both spend a lot of time with Franky in his workshop when they get old enough, they’ve got a knack for shipwright work and it almost brings a tear to Franky’s eye to see them sketching their own ship designs on whatever scraps of paper they can find. Your boys love you too of course! The two will bring their drawings to show you and ask your opinion, you have to tell them everything on your mind or they won’t go back to drawing, mama’s thoughts matter! It becomes family time to go over the sketches your boys made during the day, they want to do you and Franky proud in everything, but nothing they do could ever make you love them less.
~~
Katakuri has planned to have kids for a while, even though he’s already 48, he still wants to have a few and be a father to them. He’ll raise them differently from how he was raised, but still love them dearly and want only the best for them! You’ll both be surprised when you only have one first, a little girl who has Katakuri wrapped around her finger as soon as she’s born and handed to him. She’s so tiny, he’d be content to have just her if she’s all you were blessed with. Fast forward five years and there’s a set of wailing triplets that you also didn’t expect to have, but the three boys are more than you ever could’ve asked for and their big sister loves them just as quickly. She begs to see them as soon as their born, Katakuri brings her by that day to see you and them, and she has to gold all three in a row immediately. After that, a set of twin girls comes along a few years later, your oldest isn’t the only girl anymore and she’s still just as happy to have new siblings at around ten-years-old, your five-year-old set of triplets also excited. Katakuri loves and thanks you so much for the family you’ve made with him, even if you tell him your twin girls are it, you’re done. He's happy with what you have, grateful for your love and children.
~~
Killer is absolutely a great dad, you couldn’t have asked for anyone better to be your partner and father to your children. You have a boy first off, with your eyes and blond hair, he wants to be just like his dad when he grows up! A couple years later comes a little girl, she’s a surprise but a pleasant one at that. You didn’t really expect her to have Killer wrapped around her finger in a heartbeat but the second he saw her it was over, he became wholly devoted to your little girl and making sure she was happy as could be. You’ve come back to your family multiple times seeing Killer either having a tea party with your daughter or playing some make believe game with both your children, he normally plays the damsel in distress for their enjoyment. Your kids can see people act oddly around Killer when they recognize him, but neither of them care to know why, they’re still quite young, and they only care that they’re dad loves and takes care of them alongside you. All that matters to them is that Killer is around to play with them and eventually start teaching them to protect themselves.
~~
Luffy would be the fun dad, no doubt in my mind! Like how Ace would have three daughters, I can see Luffy having three sons! Probably twins at first, then another son a couple years later, the three having the same dynamic that he had with Sabo and Ace when they were kids! They’d all look like Luffy, except your middle child would have your eyes, a small piece that shows yes, you’re the mother to these three rugrats. All three dream of being pirates, its their favorite game to plan, especially so since their dad is King of the Pirates. After all, who better to tell you how the pirate life works than him?? With all of the Straw Hats around, your sons would be protect from the moment they hear you’re pregnant, everyone being the best aunts and uncles around as soon as they’re born. Luffy would be the most protective of course, but he’d still give your sons the freedom to do what they want and to grow and learn how the world works. Being a pirate is about freedom, isn’t it? Your sons will never have to wonder if they’re loved or wanted, everything you and Luffy do is for them.
~~
I honestly see Mihawk with one child, a daughter. She’d be an unexpected blessing that has him around her tiny finger the moment she takes her first breath. He’d never let her, or you of course, out of his sight, unless he absolutely had to go to a Warlord meeting or something like that. When Zoro and Perona show up, they’re both flabbergasted that the Dracule Mihawk has a child, and that she’s a cute baby girl, only a few months old! Perona will try to dress her up in frilly dresses but your daughter will cry, which ends with Mihawk taking her back and demanding Perona stop using his daughter like a dress up doll. The funny thing is, your daughter will be absolutely enthralled with Zoro, she’ll fuss until he holds her, sometimes he’s the only one who can get her down for a nap or to sleep at night. The number of times Mihawk has caught Zoro training with your daughter strapped to his back or the two napping together warms his heart, maybe having the two freeloaders around isn’t so bad.
~~
Sabo never thought too much about having kids. It was a nice idea, but he didn’t have any strong opinions about it. Then of course, you showed up and he started to have dreamy ideas of his own family and children with you as the mother. Your first is a little girl, blonde as her dad and just as rambunctious. She’ll chase down everyone that she can’t to play with her and grab their attention for whatever story she’s made up, Sabo especially listens intently to her, giving her a smile, asking questions, and responding to everything she says positively. After your daughter comes two boys, one after the other just a couple years apart, and both times Sabo can’t believe he’s so lucky to have you and your children. Your sons look more like you, though your youngest has Sabo’s hair just like your daughter. He’s more shy than either of his siblings, but with Sabo he’s more open and talkative. Your first son may be the middle child, but he’s also the one who becomes more interested in the Revolutionary Army’s work. Although Sabo knows that all of them may become interested one day, wanting to join, he hopes that their work can be completed first and your children will be able to love safe, comfortable lives as they grow up.

1.i did headcanons i hope thats okay😭
2.fem!reader
3.swearing and a small mention of violence.
Tumblr media
Johnny Cade ;
like i’ve said before in other fics, he loves you so much.
honestly, you might be one of his favourite people!
when he walks down the street and he just so happens to see a cute flower, he picks it and gives it to you!
when he first met you, he refused to see you when he was injured in anyway. he thought you’d think he was weak and never see him again.
but as time went on, and you showed that you genuinely cared for him, he showed more of his vulnerable side.
johnny likes it when you patch him up now!
he thinks it’s calming, relaxing, and a, ‘nice change of things rather than lettin’ mother nature cure it.’
when he unknowingly/accidentally vents to you about his home life, he does get embarrassed.
he didn’t want you knowing, but when you hugged him real tight and told him sweet nothings?? he teared up ngl.
johnny wishes you could’ve been his mom.
when or if you have kids, johnny wishes they don’t take the, ‘how was your day?’ and the, ‘how’s school going?’ for granted.
because to johnny cade, that would be his perfect fairytale.
having someone as sweet as you to turn his life around, makes him excited to see tomorrow.
Dallas Winston ;
another bitch with mommy issues who is glad to have you.
mrs.curtis was definitely the mother he never had but always wanted and when she died, he was devastated.
but when you came along and started being that mother he missed??? he was both annoyed and over the moon.
he didn’t like that every time you bailed him out of jail, he got an ear full. however, he did like to know verbally that someone cared about him
he doesn’t show you any sort of affection, but he will tell you how he feels when drunk.
“thank you, so much y/n. i-i don’t know where i’d be without you.”
for mothers day, he doesn’t do anything special.
BUT—you didn’t hear this from me, before the clock hits 12, expect to hear like a cute little knock at your door, and open it to see a single flower on the ground with a pack of cigarettes.
dally ran off before you or anyone else could see him.
even though he didn’t sign his name, you knew it was from him. so, next time you see him, say thank you.
Ponyboy Curtis ;
he’s like a toddler around you???
ponyboy definitely pretends to be like, your own bodyguard.
but really, who’s scared of ponyboy?
he tries though!
when he watches a movie and some character reminds him of you, expect that to be the first thing he tells you.
“ya know, when i went to the drive in, you really reminded of this one character.”
“oh? why’s that?”
“well because-“
and now you have to sit there and listen to him.
he’ll draw for you so much :(.
if you tell him your favourite flower, he WILL give you a drawing of it the next day. he’ll stay up all night if he has too!
Sodapop Curtis ;
he’s literally your #2 fan. first place goes to johnny.
he’s your biggest hypeman??? omg???
“gee, y/n! you’re lookin’ real fancy!! gonna get all the guys, eh?”
when ponyboy and darry argue and he just can’t take it anymore, he calls you and asks to come over.
and of course, you say yes everytime.
so please, PLEASE, just let him cry into your arms!!!!
when he’s done, he’ll try to go home but i’m begging you to tell him he’s welcomed to stay the night.
and if he does stay? ponyboy will be at your doorstep too.
he’ll share his famous chocolate cake with you!! he’ll make sure steve doesn’t touch it.
“STEVE THAT WAS FOR Y/N! ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?!”
“OH SHIT SHIT SHIT! WE MAKE MAKE ONE TOGETHER! THE MORE PEOPLE THE FASTER THE CAKE WILL BAKE RIGHT?!”
“DO I LOOK LIKE A SCIENTIST??”
Darry Curtis ;
he is so thankful for you i legit can’t stress that enough.
you keep the gang in check, you keep ponyboy happy, and you help him around the house. what more could he ask for?
you legit force darry to relax while you look after the gang to make sure nothing bad happens.
“we’ll be fine, darry. go to bed, your dark circles are gettin’ darker by the minute.”
“yeah super-man! we’ll be fine with y/n!”
“yeah!!”
“fine, but if she wakes me up to tell me about any of you, so god help me.”
if you welcome him home with a newspaper and his favourite cup of coffee after a long day at work, he might ask you to move in.
Steve Randle ;
steve pretends that he doesn’t like you that much.
but he really does. like, the second he hears some soc threaten or insult you? he’s after them.
shit, he might be chasin’ after them in two-bits car while two-bit yells at the person.
he will legit go to war for you if you asked him nicely.
he will rant to you about cars if you let him😭.
he’ll rant to you about anything, honestly.
“and then the old bastard asked for a refund! the ‘no refunds’ sign was right on the door! how could that old bat not see it?!”
“steve! don’t call people that, but yes, it was very rude of that man to do that too you.”
“RIGHT?!”
Two-bit Matthews ;
he forces you to relax and watch mickey mouse with him.
he says it’s for your own good but when really, he just wants to spend time with you without the gang interrupting.
“guys! you’re stressing her out with all your STUPID questions! c’mon, y/n, mickey mouse is calling our names. can’t you hear it?”
“or maybe its the booze you had at 10AM.”
“i will sock you in your fucking throat steve.”
he plays with your hair…he finds it fun!
please tell him how to do some styles so he can go home and impress his little sister :(.
he offers you beer every once and awhile just so he can say he got you to loosen up.
“so y/n…you want some?”
“oh! no thank you, two. you know i don’t drink.”
he calls you mom in a joking way, ya dig?
“momm! steve called me a dumbass!”
“steve, be nice! apologize.”
“what the fuck?!”
author notes ;
1. i like totally rushed near the end LMFAO.
2. i never thought you bitches would eat motherly!reader up like this??
3.are you guys okay??
4.THANK U SWEETHEART OMFG??
5.i think theres no romance??

I fully believe Mouthwashing wouldn’ve had an alternate ending if Jimmy went up in the vent instead of Daisuke
Here’s how it’d go
Jimmy goes up into the vent after some convincing from Daisuke
Daisuke insists he’s too scared to, and Jimmy gives in to his pleading only because he wants him to shut up
The vent ends up breaking just like it did for Daisuke, but the worst that happens to Jimmy is a couple of broken ribs
He’s almost completely fine
Later that night, Swansea and Daisuke are taking while Jimmy’s asleep
They talk about putting Jimmy out of his misery because he’s having a hard time breathing
It’s mostly Daisuke worried about him breathing normally
Swansea is the one suggesting they kill Jimmy
Of course Jimmy wakes up during their conversation, but only listens
Then what causes Jimmy and Swansea’s fight is what Jimmy heard Swansea saying
It ends up going how it goes in the normal game
Jimmy shoots Swansea and Swansea dies
HOWEVER, Daisuke sees Jimmy shooting Swansea and gets upset
For one night, Daisuke thinks about killing Jimmy
He plans it out in his head, but he’s hesitant about it
So, when the time comes, Daisuke confronts Jimmy about killing Swansea
Daisuke: Why did you do it?
Jimmy: What-?
Daisuke: Swansea- Why did you kill him?
Jimmy: I had to. He attacked me-
Daisuke: B-But…You could’ve talked it out! Or- I don’t know. Just…not shot him?
Jimmy: Look, Daisuke-
Daisuke: No! You look, Jimmy! You killed someone! It-It’s not right!
Jimmy: It doesn’t matter, Daisuke. Swansea came at me first.
Daisuke: No! No, no!
Jimmy: I know it’s hard, but-
Daisuke: Your fucking right it’s hard! I thought Anya’s death would be the only one! The only person we had to worry about fucking rotting on this damn ship! But-But no! You killed him! It’s all your fault!
Jimmy: Daisuke, calm down.
Daisuke: I can’t-I can’t- I can’t do this anymore, man.
Jimmy: I know. It’s difficult.
Then, Daisuke later grabs the axe, and waits for Jimmy down in the utility room
Jimmy finds him and tries to convince him not to give into his anger, and to get his shit together
Rightfully so, Daisuke doesn’t listen
Daisuke: I’m gonna do what you didn’t give Swansea the chance to.
Jimmy: Daisuke, please-
And Daisuke beats the shit out of Jimmy with the axe
Daisuke realizes what he’s done after he’s already chopped Jimmy into Twenty Fucking Pieces /ref
He feels extremely guilty, and has a good cry over it for at least 15 minutes
I can imagine there’d be the same surrealist visuals like with Jimmy, but this time it’s more lighthearted
With Swansea comforting Daisuke
Swansea: Listen, kid. Yer a fine mechanic.
Daisuke: …
Swansea: …You didn’t work things out the same as I would’ve, but you did your best.
Daisuke: …Really?
Swansea: Yeah. You clearly learned a hell of a lot.
Daisuke: I guess so. Thanks.
Swansea: It’s the least I can do. After all you’ve been through, I’d be drinking that mouthwash again.
Daisuke: Hah. I think I’ve had enough of the stuff.
Swansea: Me too. Me fuckin’ too.
Finally, Daisuke clears his thoughts, and gets into the cryo pod
He doesn’t know when he’ll be found, but he knows what he can say he learned and who he learned it from
(We can safely assume Captain Curly succumbed to his injuries bc Daisuke forgot about him) (Or maybe Jimmy took care of him before anyone else got the chance to)

Trying to Get Along
Dick wants to connect with his little brother, but no matter what he does, one major problem keeps them at odds.
---
“Ugh, you’re still here?”
Dick ignores the disdain. “Have you seen Bruce?”
“Not home,” the boy says, spinning in his chair. “League business.”
“Figures.” After he was fired - after Bruce replaced him - Dick all but cut Bruce out of his life. He left Gotham behind and let himself become swamped with his work with the Teen Titans. He didn’t go to the manor for anything. Not even to see Alfred. (He should have. He knows he should have. But he just… couldn’t.)
But after an unplanned team-up with the Caped Crusader and the Boy Wonder, Dick tried to reconnect. He made a concerted effort to visit. Tried to call when he could. And…
And he tried to get to know the new kid. After all, it wasn’t his fault that Bruce thought Dick was so easily replaceable.
But even now, Bruce is tough to pin down. More and more often, Dick visits the manor to find Alfred and the copycat. No Bruce. So Dick tries to capitalize on the time without Batman.
“Wanna do something?” Dick offers. “Gotham could use a couple crime fighters while Batman’s away.”
The boy, usually eager to do anything with Dick, be that a patrol or math homework, is hesitant. “I dunno.”
“C’mon, I haven’t broken a nose in almost a week. Just a couple hours.”
“You don’t have to do this anymore.” The little boy fixes Dick with a curious look.
Something cold and pointy sinks into Dick’s heart. “Don’t have to do what anymore?”
“Play big brother.” The boy blinks owlishly. “I’m not your brother anymore. I’m dead.”
“You’re not-” Dick takes a deep breath. It does nothing to calm the hummingbird wings in his chest. “Don’t say stuff like that.”
But a much more typical frown graces the boy’s lips. “You’re not helping anyone by doing this.” He approaches Dick carefully, arms folded and yellow cape swallowing his figure. “You’re just worrying Bruce.”
Dick copies the boy’s posture, sending a glare that would make even the toughest of street thugs sweat. “Bruce doesn’t care what I do.” He can barely hear himself over the pounding in his ears. “I’m just looking out for you.”
“It’s too late for that. I’m not alive anymore.” The boy’s voice is too chipper. Too reminiscent of-
Late nights against the Gotham skyline. An unexpected visitor at Titans Tower. A rare trip to the Batcave, a kid hot on his heels and talking like his life depends on it-
“Don’t say that!” he snaps, fingers itching and blood roaring. “Don’t say that! You are alive! Would you quit-?”
A small hand reaches up to pat him dismissively on the shoulder. “C’mon. You don’t really believe that. Not even Bruce believes that, and he’s crazy.”
“Bruce has nothing to do with this. Bruce…”
Bruce didn’t say a word. Not a word. You had to go digging. You had to call Barbara. He never would’ve told you.
“Dick,” the boy stresses. “I’m dead.”
“You shouldn’t be! If he’d just told me he needed help-”
“You would have failed too. There’s nothing you could’ve done.” It might be an attempt at reassurance. To Dick, it sounds like an excuse.
“I could’ve helped.” But something in his voice breaks. His heartbeat slows to a loud, painful thud. Thud. Thud.
The boy sighs. “No, you couldn’t have.”
There’s a heavy pause. And then the boy’s expression hardens into tense panic.
“You couldn’t save me, Dick. Dick. Dick, you there?”
Dick blinks.
“Dick, you’re scaring me.”
“Sorry. Sorry, Tim.” Dick runs a hand through his hair, grimacing against a new headache.
“You okay?” Tim fidgets with his cape, still watching Dick like he might disappear. “You zoned out or something.”
“Yeah. Yeah, I’m fine.” Dick doesn’t truly believe this and, going off of Tim’s expression, neither does Tim. But even so, it’s been over a year now. Dick should be over this. He shouldn’t still be seeing those leftover remnants of Jason. Dick has no right to be haunted when he didn’t even know Jason was gone.
“Mm-hm.” Tim rocks on his feet, letting his cape fall away and playing with his mask instead. “If you say so.”
Desperate to change the subject, Dick asks, “Are you headed out to patrol?” Because Tim is suited up.
Tim shrugs. “I wanted to, but then Bruce had that League thing, and I’m…” He shrugs again. “I’m not allowed to go out on my own.”
The unspoken is obvious: I would go out on my own if you weren’t here to tell me no.
“Right.” Dick pulls his mask from his belt and presses it to his face. “Well, we can watch Gotham together, then.”
“Really??”
“Gotta make sure you don’t do anything reckless, and I need to stretch my legs.”
“Cool!” Tim puts on his own mask, rushing to the garage. “Can we take the Batmobile?”
“Not unless you want to be grounded for the next thirty years. Let’s go by roof, huh?”
“If you say so.”
“I do say so, Jason.”
Dick doesn’t notice his mistake. Tim doesn’t point it out. They just patrol the skies, each brother looking out for the other.

What do you think the relationship between Blake's parents and Yang would be like?
I’m gonna start this off I think maybe they would’ve been wary of Yang at first
If they met her they’d love her but they didn’t really get that chance after all of team Rwby fully DIED
If they started to piece together that the reason Blake came home so devastated and that she left her team at all had something to do with Yang it’d probably cause lots of concern
Cause when people talk about them in beacon they’d probably talk about how inseparable they were, how they were always hanging out, how they were the best partner team, completely in sync, they loved each other, they were in their own little world
Then after beacon fell it’s like there’s this time skip of stories that tend to start like: “when they started getting along again” “after they made up”
So something happened
And the other major relationship that Blake had that was that kind of closeness and had that great of an effect on her was Ad*m
So they were probably a little worried
Especially because Blake clearly loved her team based on the way she joined them and they probably saw at least a bit of their volume 5 reunion which was telling of something who knows what but definitely something with Their staring at each other exclusively and the tensions when yang came back up with the relic
There’s a possibility of something really serious happening between them!! could’ve been a big mutual fight, Yang could’ve been weird and evil, or just kind of manipulative, or she could’ve been fine but their was a incident, Blake could’ve even done something (unlikely she’s their angel but she was very distraught so they wouldn’t hold it against her gotta love loving parents)
They were definitely curious when Blake came back to them they were definitely more curious when Blake left but they just got her back so they didn’t want to push her to much
But then Blake fucking DIED and so did the rest of her team and now they have nothing
Their daughter is gone, she had been gone for years but she was alive it was awful they were miserable they missed her but she was alive that’s what mattered that’s all the mattered they could keep going knowing that even without knowing anything else like if she was safe or happy and then they got her back and everything was right in the world and she brought her weird friend with her (I love sun) and she was suffering but she got better and she worked through so much and she changed the white fang for the better and it was amazing
But now she’s dead and she’s never coming back and all they have is other people’s stories about her
And other peoples stories include Yang so so heavily
And so they barely got to know their daughter
And they definitely don’t know this random girl
But they’re going to figure them out because that’s all that’s all that they can do anymore
They’d probably ask sun about her, someone who they assume would know and also would be their least insensitive option as he was more Blake’s friend even if it doesn’t feel great as their essentially trying to dig up dirt on this DEAD young girl who died SAVING PEOPLE
And sun clearing it up talking about “no, Yang loved Blake she adored her she did anything for her she was the only one who could get her to rest she cared for her so much”
But the thing is as far as I’m aware Yang and Blake haven’t talked about what happened with Adam with anyone. obviously everyone knows Yang lost an arm and lots of people saw them bleeding in the middle of a crumbling beacon but that doesn’t give context. They don’t know Adam cut yangs arm off or stabbed Blake. They don’t know what happened In their dorm right before the fall when Blake doubted Yang at her lowest moment (it was VALID for Blake just bad timing!!)they don’t know about them killing Adam. they don’t know how Yang convinced Blake to rest
There’s a lot of really specific reasons for why their relationship happened as it did that no one alive knows the true full context of
A really fun idea to me is that maybe ilia knows about the arm chopping thing because I think it’s possible Adam possibly bragged about butchering Blake’s new favorite person
Maybe they bond with qrow who they probably thought was Yang and rubys main guardian/ parent because he was the one who was with them and maybe he sheds a small amount of light on Yang and who she is but they know he’s biased
Overall I think they figured out a lot of really great things about her, that she was always there for Blake during beacon getting her food and keeping her stable, that she’s a devoted older sister and friend, that the reason she wasn’t with her team when they were broadcasting was because she was in a giant whale grim fighting Salem directly
But they’re parents and they worry
But once they all come back from the dead and they actually meet Yang I think they’ll LOVE her
Especially because if they bring up these concerns Blake will definitely go to hell and back to explain how great Yang is and how much she loves her
Once they get through all possible concerns they’re SUPPERRR welcoming into the family kinda vibe
Very kind very happy yangs very confused
I think Yang would be really casual in the beginning of meeting them still very polite because they’re Blake’s parents and also kind of royalty but not your traditional meet the parents sort of thing become I don’t think she would’ve thought about the fact Blake might want that
Like I’ve said it before but I don’t think yangs going to go out of her way to actively tell people especially her parents that she’s dating Blake honestly she probably believes “team partner” is a sufficient enough title and people can just pick up that it’s also a romantic partnership totally normal for team partners
(Team strq probably still refer to each other as a team instead of family despite having actual children together so that’s yangs perspective )
I really doubt it would’ve occurred to her that Blake would want her parents to meet her romantic partner so that they can get along and with the intention of gaining approval for said romantic partner (not something Blake needs but definitely something she’d like)
Not that Yang needs to put up any particular acts or be super nervous so it’s great
The person the most nervous about meeting Blake’s parents is for sure Weiss
I think that in the end Blake’s parents would try to make Yang feel more like part of the family and they’d just end up with a really really nice and positive relationship

your BEAST Daza fanfic was truly amazing will there be a part 2 cuz like if there's a part 2 I kinda wanna see like the reader dating chuuya and beast dazai reaction to this
OMG I LOVE YOU
THERE WASNT GONNA BE A PART 2 BUT NOW THERE IS BC THIS IS TOO GOOD
BEAST Dazai Osamu x Male Reader x Nakahara Chuuya pt 2
Tumblr media
You had just got off your late Night Shift, leaving home the same time as everyone else. That’s when Nakahara came up to you as you walked out of the building.
You assumed Dazai was asking for your presence again, “Isn’t it a bit late for him to want me right now?” You complained, yet still began turning around to walk back to the building.
But then, Nakahara grabbed your arm and held you back “He’s not askin’ for you. I just want to talk.” He mumbled the last bit.
“Oh um.. what is it?” You turn towards him fully.
He looks around for a bit then asks “You wanna grab a bite to eat? I know a good place.” You could’ve sworn you saw a slight tint of red on his face as he spoke.
You thought for a moment. While Dazai kept you out of his personal life, he was sure well versed in your own.
But it was just grabbing a bite right? You supposed the boss wouldn’t really mind you just having a friendly interaction.
Nakahara waited anxiously for your response, about to just say never mind and walk away until you finally answered.
“Yeah. Yeah, I’d like that” you smiled, Nakahara smiled back in relief.
And that’s how the two of you began seeing each other.
He’d find you after work and take you out. Then you finally asked for his number so you could talk outside of work as well.
All the while, you were still having your “meetings” with Dazai.
And he could tell your mind was somewhere else, always drifting at some point, and this was getting annoying.
So he began having a few lackeys follow you around and see what was going on in your life.
At first what they reported to him was harmless, he really didn’t care that you were hanging out with Chuuya, to him it was just one more eye to keep on you.
However, he didn’t tell Chuuya he had been watching the both of you. Y’know, just in case.
He had no reason to worry.
Chuuya was nothing to worry about.
Until he was.
Dazai had called you up for yet another “meeting”, these days they had been getting more and more frequent.
As Chuuya left the room, he gave you a smile in passing.
Things went as usual, small talk not lasting too long before his hands were on you.
He held your face so tenderly, kissed you gently, comfortably laid himself in your arms, all like a real lover.
And you kissed him back so carefully, softly traced circles in his back as you held his waist, and looked into his dark eyes, all like your heart belonged to him alone.
And then again, it was over, and he was your boss and you, his subordinate who had given up on anything real with him.
You walk out of his office and just as you walk out the door and begin to turn to the corridor, Chuuya is there leaning against the wall.
“Oh Chuuya, you can go ahead back in now. We’re.. done.” You feel your face heat up slightly at the mention of what just happened.
“I’ll go.. in a sec.” He replies blankly, not looking at you once.
“Is something the matter?” You place a hand on his shoulder, only for him to grab your wrist tightly.
“I can’t take it anymore..” he seethed, you thought he could’ve broke your wrist if he gripped any tighter.
Before anything like that could happen, he just released your wrist completely before letting himself fall into your chest.
“Chuuya..?” You looked down at him worriedly.
“I hate him.. why does he get to kiss you..? To love you..?” His fists clenched and shook as he spoke.
“What are you saying..?” You asked worriedly.
He lifted his head slightly and looked up at you, opening his mouth to speak.
But then he caught a glimpse of Dazai’s lackey’s walking toward the both of you.
He pushed away from you and walked right back to Dazai’s office without a word.
You stood in shock, what the hell just happened? What is Chuuya saying? He hates the boss for kissing you..?
Then your phone buzzes in your pocket, a message from Chuuya.
It’s an address, a bar out of town?
“We’ll talk later.”
After work you drove straight to the location Chuuya sent you, pulling up to a small bar in between two larger buildings.
You walked in and scanned the area until you saw your coworker sitting hunched over the bar, hat removed and placed on a seat by his side.
Chuuya was a bit tipsy by now, not drunk though, he was well aware of your hesitant frame and worried eyes approaching him.
He looks over and nods at you, removing his hate from the seat so you could sit.
You sat down quietly, then you spoke.
“What’s going on Chuuya?” You questioned, turning to face him.
“I.. I like you, a lot. I might as well be fucking in love with you.” He groaned, dropping his face between his hands.
You watched as his ears turn red, even his gloves weren’t hiding the trembling of his hands.
“Chuuya?” You called for his attention but he just grumbled.
“Chuuya, look at me. Please..?” Your tone was soft.
He slowly turned his head to you, only one eye look toward you.
You scooted in closer, tilting your head to get a better view of his eye.
“I love you too.” You smiled, his eye widened and Chuuya jolted up completely and looked you in the eyes to be sure you were genuine.
He exhaled shakily, moving toward you quickly and wrapping his arms around your neck tightly.
You returned the hug just as tight, smiling widely.
After a long while, you both laughed lightly as you separated.
And that’s how you became the loving boyfriend of Nakahara Chuuya.
And that’s also how Chuuya put a large target on his own back.
