Who loves Rook: Spite or Lucanis
I've been seeing a lot of discourse about this, and I just want to add my thoughts.
I might be totally wrong about this, but here we go. When Spite was put into Lucanis, he was still Determination. The fact that he changed throughout the torture, forced insertion, and imprisonment suggests to me that they have been put into a speedrun of a similar situation to Anders and Justice/Vengeance where they have started to meld. (As Anders put it, you wouldn't know where one begins and the other ends). Just like Anders and Vengeance, Lucanis and Spite can have separate consciousnesses and even disagree about things, but their core values have started to influence one another and become a part of one another- heightening certain aspects.
I think this melding is why we see some dialogues where Rook tells Lucanis that he sounds like Spite and similarly it's also the reason for the shared attraction- which I fully believe is coming originally from Lucanis.
I'll be honest my first time through I romanced Lucanis and was very disappointed. I didn't even see him and Neve ever flirt (she only ever encouraged us!) But still, it seemed to go from 0 to 60 with him. Now, I am on my second playthrough and I only just met him, but I am starting to see some really subtle looks and dialogues that suggest that Lucanis wasn't lying later when he said he was attracted to Rook from the beginning, but was afraid to really pursue anything or even acknowledge the possibility of being with them. With his fear of trusting people, ptsd from the prison, failed history in romance, and his new situation with Spite that he still hadn't worked out yet, he never thought anything would or could ever come of his feelings. We know Lucanis loves romance stories and likely longs for one of his own, but in such a situation it must have seemed truly impossible and terrifying to let someone else in. Especially someone you really care for and are starting to trust. So, he pushed it all down. Rook flirts? Maybe a small smile, but then quickly lock it all up with everything else he can't handle. Focus on work. Don't think about Spite, or Rook, or anything difficult.
However, if the melding has already happened as I suspect, then the feelings Spite is expressing are shared with (and likely sourced from) Lucanis, he's just better at expressing it directly- which makes sense for a spirit that was once Determination. When you first talk to Lucanis after the rescue, the thing Spite says about Rook changes accordingly to your tone, but to me the responses still sound like they come from Lucanis and are then echoed in Spite: "He doesn't want to hurt us." Even the "He's more fun than you" is something Lucanis seems to think about himself as he is fully aware that much of his life has not been his own and believes "all he knows is death."
Leading back to the main point, Lucanis's trust and interest in Rook would be heightened by Spite the way Anders' anger towards the templars was heightened. Even though they are finally free from the prison, their is a sense of constant suffering from still feeling trapped by fear, regret, and pain- Spite feels that suffering too. The elements of determination are still within him the same way justice is another side to vengeance. Both spite and vengeance are the results of failing to achieve their goals of Justice and Determination. Spite sees Rook as a way to free them from pain and restraint, a glowing and beautiful key to the prison door, and he is determined to do what needs to be done to solve the problem. That's why he doesn't hesitate. He has no fear. He wants to talk to Rook. He wants Rook to come in and free them.
After Rook has freed them, they become a source of comfort and safety, once they encourage Lucanis and Spite to find a way to cohabit comfortably, the two continue to meld, and the need to protect Rook, to love Rook, to keep them, is very deeply shared. Now, IF Spite was somehow removed or even somehow restored (Both of which I think are impossible) that would likely change. Determination outside of Lucanis would likely become more like Compassion. He would likely forget the horrors he experienced to return to his original purpose.
So, that leaves some final questions, particularly one Hawke helpfully asked Anders- Is Spite an unwilling party in the threesome?
That's up to everyone's own morality. While both Spite and Lucanis didn't have a choice to become like this, it is the situation they are in and the way they have to find a way to accept and live with because there really doesn't seem to be any real way to change it. Through their time together, Lucanis and Spite have influenced each other and grown into something new. Part of that is Spite also loving Rook. In that way, for those who are feeling (rightfully) underwhelmed by Lucanis's romance, Spite can almost be seen as a symbolic expression of Lucanis's love.
All that being said, I think there were some small things they could have done to make the romance more satisfying over all...but I'll save that for another post.

The ton of London is abuzz with the latest drama unfolding between Morpheus Endless and his father, Lord Time, over the question of the formerâs marriage and just who is meant to meet him at the altar.
From almost the beginning of the Season, everyone had been treated to the sweet and clear courtship of Morpheus by Mr. Hob Gadling. It seemed to be love at first sight, and from a practical standpoint was considered to be a rather good match; Hob might have been new money, but what he lacked in connections he more than made up in wealth, looks, and honest charm. The Endless family are well-connected and well-respected, and while Morpheus could possibly have held out for a more equally-connected match, he was a third child (thus bringing little status to a marriage, when compared to his elder siblings), and furthermore had been considered rather unapproachable, aloof and cold, at least until Hob had managed to melt that icy exterior.
It had gotten to the point where anyone paying attention expected to hear of a proposal any day now, when chaos erupted: Lord Time, who had evidently not been paying any attention to his son or his courtship, heard the match being talked of as a settled thing, and quite firmly announced that he would not allow it. That he had in fact been arranging Morpheusâ betrothal to Mr Roderick Burgess!
Society is shocked by such a choice. The Burgess family was nearly as nouveau riche as Mr. Gadling, but with a much worse reputation (and possibly less rich). And to Roderick, to whom most of the poor reputation belongs, and who has a grown son of his own! By every measure Hob Gadling is clearly the better catch, besides which Morpheus Endlessâ honor is quite firmly engaged at this point, and it would be scandalous to jilt Mr. Gadling after such a blatant courtship for such an inferior alternative.
Yet Lord Time refuses to budge on his decision, and no amount of attempted persuasion by his acquaintances, children, or even his wife (who normally presents a united front with her husband), will convince him that this course of action will damage his familyâs reputation and his sonâs happiness.
Morpheus doesnât intend to take this lying down however. He plans to put himself in increasing compromising positions with his real fiancĂ©e (who is fully on board with the plan), until he is either officially engaged to Hob or considered so thoroughly ruined that the Endless familyâs reputation can never recover.
And so the ton holds its breath at this game of chicken, waiting to see which happens first: the son bending to his fatherâs stubborn will and submitting to the sanctioned match, or the father breaking against the sonâs determined willingness to drag the family name through the mud in order to marry his preferred suitor.
(Little does the ton know just how unlikely the former outcome is, as Morpheus loves Hob Gadling as strongly as he hates Roderick Burgess. Thus he is fully ready if necessary to bring himself and Hob off in the middle of a crowded ballroom, and make it very clear that this is not the first time theyâve engaged in pre-marital relations, if thatâs what it takes)
Yes!!!!! I love these Bridgerton adjacent ideas for dreamling because those two are SO dramatic, you just know that they'd thrive in those conditions.
The nice thing about Hob being new money is that he doesn't really have much of a reputation to ruin, and no family to be disappointed in him. He cares very little about what anyone thinks of him; the only person he's interested in pleasing is Morpheus! And although he'd certainly prefer to save Dreamâs reputation, for the sake of his beloved's place in society, Hob has no trouble at all in following Morpheusâs orders and misbehaving all over the place!
And it's certainly convenient, since they've been fucking ever since the Season began. Now Hob doesn't have to bother trying not to mark Morpheusâs neck above the line of his cravat. Hob has some well-placed conversations with some of the most notorious gossips in the ton, and soon enough everyone is craning their necks to see if the love bites are visible on Morpheusâs pretty white neck today...
Finally, Roderick Burgess seemingly can't take the idea of marrying a ruined slut like Morpheus any longer (despite the connections to the aristocracy, and all the benefits that would come with the marriage... Burgess can't cope with the fact that he would not be the first to break Morpheus in, so to speak). He breaks the deal with Lord Time, and what do you know, less than a week later, Morpheus and Hob are quietly married at an intimate little ceremony.
The ton decides to conveniently forget about the couple's scandalous behaviour - they're safely married now, so it's all quite alright. It was for the best that Morpheus married the man he clearly adored! And the honeymoon period seemingly hasn't ended either... at every ball of the next season, the newlyweds are bound to sneak off for old times sake, to some secret corner where they can renew their marital bliss. Not to mention what they get up to on the carriage ride home! It's quite clear to everyone (thanks to all the noises of satisfaction coming from behind the curtains) that Morpheus chose the right husband <3

Jude's Main Story
Chapters 3-4 Snippets
(only contains short summaries of few incidents)
At the dock, MC is amazed by Judeâs excellent employee supervision. He reportedly pays all of his hardworking employees a respectable salary and even gives them another chance if they mess up something.
While returning to Crown castle, Jude gets attacked by a man whose business Jude destroyed because he was allegedly smuggling drugs through Raven's network. After that, Jude's assault on his way home from work appeared to happen every day. His life was sought after by politicians, business executives, bureaucrats, and even aristocrats. According to Ellis, Jude enjoys trampling on the lives of people in positions of authority.
(I know I know, he's amazing isn't he? - says that with puffed up pride)
MC feels that Jude could have easily avoided all of this, but he doesn't, which leads us to believe that maybe he was intentionally infuriating people and making them harbor resentment toward him. She requests Ellis to teach her self-defence as being with Jude was endangering her life. Ellis gives her a little gun from Victor's arm collection in addition to teaching her self-defense.
In chapter 4, Jude, Ellis and MC go to an aristocratâs mansion who was allegedly involved in human trafficking and drug smuggling at one of Judeâs warehouses. Jude told him that selling 6 people will result in 6 smacks from him. MC tried to stop him as the scene became more graphic, but he warned her not to impede with her needless sense of justice. After some time, the guards of the mansion entered the room and Jude had to use his curse to put them to sleep, including a guard who was about to hit the MC from behind.
A fire is started in the mansion to destroy the evidence and Jude hurls MC out of the window, sneering at her for being in the way.
-But, it's the heart that really hurts.
Premium Story-
(If I be honest here, Jude's treatment can get very harsh. Just like mentioned above, his words did sorta sting at times. But, his harsh and bitter remarks make me even more determined to resist him, kinda makes me wanna glare at him back. )
Jude and his choking (gaaaaaahhh!!)
He basically threatens her so she leaves him, telling her sheâll die if she stays with him. But she resolutely says that sheâll kill before she dies herself. (THATâS RIGHT)
Naturally, he is taken aback and lets her go after which she offers to tend to his wounds. Here we get to see the book Jude carries around with him- Jules Verneâs From Earth to Moon. She is surprised to see Jude carrying a science fiction book and asks if he loves the moon. He claims to detest it. He feels compelled to gaze at it even though he doesn't want to because of how brilliantly it sparkles in the night sky. It doesnât let him forget things he wants to forget.
Jude asks for something in exchange for MC's gratitude for saving her from the fire. Following a string of suggestions and Jude's rejections, he asks her to stop yapping or else heâll shut her mouth himself. (IF YOU KNOW YOU KNOW)
Naturally though, we are teased because this is only Chapter 4. He brings his face near enough to give the impression that he is truly going to kiss. Despite his taunts, she says that she doesn't care for a kiss or two. So heâs like âShould I just do it then?â
But this is Jude, so you can't really anticipate it this early. Therefore, I'm not disappointed, maybe? *tries to calm my heart down*
I'll share a few screenshots from the premium story in another post.

The Line is out now, and...I wasn't expecting the song to be quite like this.
To be soft and uttered. To be gentle and clear and soul-breaking. I don't really know what I was expecting... Perhaps a song similar to Backslide, or Heathens, or Lane Boyâsomething more in tune with Arcane's upbeat, let's-break-some-bones hits.
And instead of Snakes or Sucker but-in-TĂP-style...we got this.
It's not Sting's voice shattering hearts in What Could Have Been, or Woodkid in Guns For Hire or To Ashes And Blood. But it's Twenty One Pilots. It's Tyler, and the waver in his voice feels so much closer to his early songs than I could have ever thought possible.
The feeling is there. It's in the whispered Did I disappoint you? It's in the soft-high notes of I can feel the light shine on my face. It's in the pleading, in the despair of someone asking if you would still see the best version of them, even after they have crossed the line.
I don't know what to think. I don't know what to say or write. This song has carved its way into my heart and my throat and my head, and I don't think it wants to let go.
(I don't think I want it to let go.)
I just want to ask: who would stay by your side if you ever crossed the line? Who would you be there for? Is it easy to love a monster, to remember them as they once were? Is it easy to plead ânot for absolution or forgivenessâbut for being remembered as the most innocent version of yourself?
I don't know what will happen in Arcane. I don't know in which moment will this song be used. And, to be honest, I don't really care.
I'm already broken.
(And have already been mended.)

It's A Man's World
Chapter 6 (Welcome to Atlanta)
A/n: Just a filler chapter to be honest. Real action picks up the next chapter đ
Warnings: None that I can tell
Likes and reposts are welcome also my ask is open just not doing any requests right now.
No matter how many times I replayed the moment in my mind, disbelief still lingered in my heart. Joe, in a roundabout way, had just extended a rather unexpected invitationâwas he really asking me out on a date, regardless of whether I made the World Series? As the season drew to a close, I found myself wishing it would come to an end even faster.
As I stood at the podium during the pregame press conference, anticipation buzzed in the air around me. One of the interviewers leaned forward, a bright spotlight illuminating his eager expression. âSo, how are you feeling before your first home game?â he inquired, his voice brimming with excitement.
With a mix of nerves and determination, I replied, âIâm feeling great. I wonât lie; the butterflies are definitely there, but Iâm ready for this moment.â My tone was confident, masking the slight tremor in my hands.
The next reporter chimed in, âYour last gameâyou were 3 for 4. What was going through your mind each time you stepped up to the plate?âÂ
I chuckled, shaking my head at the absurdity of it all. âHonestly, I wasn't thinking much at all,â I said with a playful grin. âI was just hoping I could hit a ball that would bring in a run,â I added, my nod punctuating the laughter that filled the room.
Then, another reporter posed a question that made my heart swell, âItâs well-known that you, Joe Burrow, and Ja'marr Chase attended college together. What was that experience like, and how does it feel to see them thriving now?â
A wave of nostalgia washed over me as I reminisced. âOh, it was such a blast! They graduated just a year ahead of me, but even back then, I knew they were destined for greatness. And now? Itâs incredible to see them shining in their careers. Iâm genuinely proud of both of them,â I said, my voice tinged with warmth and admiration.
Curiosity sparkled in the reporterâs eyes as he asked, âWhat was their reaction when they found out you were participating in the combine?â
I scratched the back of my neck, a sheepish smile forming. âI didnât actually tell them,â I admitted, as chuckles rippled through the crowd. âBut somehow, they found out anyway, and⊠let's just say I ended up buying the first round of drinks,â I said, laughing softly at the memory of our celebration.
The energy at Truist Park in Atlanta was electric, the cheers of the crowd echoing like thunder as we celebrated a stunning opening-day victory of 13-3 against the Diamondbacks. From the moment the first pitch sliced through the air, I felt an exhilarating sense of anticipationâAtlanta was truly buzzing, and it certainly did not disappoint.
Now, as I stepped into my new apartment, a place I could finally call home, a wave of contentment washed over me. I tossed my bag haphazardly in the corner by the door, the familiar clank of my keys hitting the table breaking the silence of the empty space.
With a soft thud, I collapsed onto the couch, letting out a deep sigh as I closed my eyes, attempting to untangle the chaos swirling in my mind after such a whirlwind of a day. But as I relaxed, thoughts of the whole Joe situation crept back in. Was he truly serious, or was this all just friendly banter? Was I overthinking every little interaction, or was there something more brewing beneath the surface? So many questions swirled around in my head, their answers just out of reach. For now, it seemed I would have to be patient and wait for clarity.
2 months later...Â
All-star week had arrived, but unfortunately, I wasnât among the chosen players to participate in the coveted All-Star game. Still, I felt a wave of relief wash over me at the prospect of some much-needed rest before rejoining my team on the road.Â
This week also marked the halfway point of the season, a crucial juncture that implied if aspirations of snagging a wild card spot were to be realized, it was time to buckle down and hit the grind hard. Our record stood at a promising 32-17, leading us into the National League Divisional Championship Game, but the landscape of the season could shift in a matter of days.
With this little break that we humorously referred to as my "bye week," I had invited Mia down to catch up. The moment she arrived, she sauntered in with a bottle of wine, her spirited energy lighting up my living room. âSo what's going on?â she asked, handing me a glass and settling herself onto the couch beside me, her eyes sparkling with curiosity.
âGirl, everything! But anyway, I have a date,â I teased, dragging out the last word to build suspense.
âOkay, with who?â she said, perking up at the mention of a potential romantic interest. âIs it one of your teammates?âÂ
I shook my head, a smile creeping across my face. âNope.â
She leaned in closer, her expression shifting to one of mischief. âSome rich ass celebrity?âÂ
I shook my head again, amusement dancing in my eyes.Â
âThen who? Because I'm lost,â she replied dramatically, acting exasperated.
âNumber 9,â I replied with a grin.
Her eyes widened in realization as the nickname registered. Number 9 was our inside joke for Joe, the charming player whose effortless grin had captured my attention on more than one occasion. Miaâs gaze bore into me as she processed my words. Finally, her excitement erupted.
âFinal-fucking-ly!â she exclaimed, bouncing off the couch like a kid on Christmas morning. âHow the hell did that happen so fast?â she asked, still trying to catch her breath from her outburst.
I laughed, the sound warm and genuine, and I began to recount the story of our unexpected connection and the playful bet that had sparked this new chapter.
âSo either way, it's a win-win situation,â she mused, a thoughtful look crossing her face once I finished explaining.
âYeah, in a sense, but Iâm just not sure if itâs a friendly outing or an actual date,â I admitted, genuinely perplexed about Joeâs intentions.
âLet me tell you, he didnât mean it in any friendly way. That boy has liked you since the day you walked into LSU; everyone saw it,â she declared, her tone passionate. âEvery time you turned around, Joe and you seemed glued at the hip for a while; people thought you were already dating!â She took a sip of her wine, emphasizing her point.
The number of times we had brushed off those rumors had become a running joke. Yet here I was, finally starting to understand how people viewed our dynamic.
âYeah, I guess it was just a matter of time,â I said, finishing off my glass and enjoying its rich flavor.
âTook long enough! Ja'marr owes me 50 bucks,â she said triumphantly, standing up and gathering the glasses to take them into the kitchen.
I chuckled softly to myself, recalling how my friends and I had joked about Joe and my chemistry. I knew I shouldnât have introduced them; it had all spiraled a little too quickly, and yet, there was a thrill in the air that suggested maybe it was all meant to be.
I had just wrapped up an intense batting practice session, the scent of sweat and freshly cut grass lingering in the air, when my phone began to ring, cutting through the post-practice haze.
Incoming FaceTime call from Joe Burrr đ§Ą
A grin spread across my face as I pressed accept, and a moment later, Joeâs familiar face materialized on the screen, lighting up my day.Â
âHeyyy Joee,â I drawled, stretching out his name playfully, letting my excitement show.
He tilted his head back, letting out an exaggerated groan. âPlease don't ever do that again, but hi.â
I pulled a chair towards me, the cold metal scraping against the ground, and settled in comfortably. âWhatâs up?â I asked, curiosity bubbling within me.
He shook his head, a hint of exasperation in his eyes. âNothing much, just bored, so I thought Iâd give you a ring. Are you at practice?â His gaze drifted to the vibrant backdrop of the field behind me.
âYeah, I just finished batting practice. About to jump into some field drills soon, but Iâve got a minute,â I reassured him, feeling the warmth of our friendship.
âYou sure? I donât want to mess up your flow,â he replied, a note of hesitation in his voice.
I shook my head, a slight smile playing on my lips. âJoe, I will always have time to talk to you.â
A small smile crept onto his lips in reply. âOkay, okay, but I do have a reason for calling. When is your last game for the season?â he asked, genuine curiosity sparkling in his eyes.
Confusion washed over my face momentarily. âI think itâs October 2nd. Why do you ask?â
âWell, thatâs the same day weâll be in Atlanta,â he said, a hint of excitement creeping into his voice.
âYou all facing the Falcons the same day?â I replied, piecing together the connection.
He nodded, an enigmatic smile gracing his features. âYep. And I would love to see you there,â he said earnestly.
I made an exaggerated expression, anticipation mixing with disbelief. âHow the hell am I going to be there and still play my game, Joe?â The prospect seemed absurd.
He chuckled, his laughter contagious, and then rolled his eyes. âRi. Itâs a night game."
The realization hit me like a ton of bricks, and I felt like the biggest fool on Earth. Of course, itâs a night game, Sierra; otherwise, he wouldnât have called to invite you!Â
âI knew that,â I stammered, hoping to salvage my dignity.
Joe studied me for a moment, then burst into soft laughter, muttering something that sounded suspiciously like âYeah, alright.â
âIâll be there without a doubt,â I assured him, my heart swelling with excitement.
âGood. And donât show up in any Falcons gear either,â he said, his tone turning serious as he shot me a pointed look.
My competitive spirit ignited, and I decided to push his buttons just a bit. âAnd if I do?â I challenged, a teasing glint in my eyes.
âSierra, donât play with me,â Joe replied, his voice dropping to a serious tone that sent a flutter through my stomach.
âIâm just kidding, Joe. Even though I still havenât forgotten your little stunt, Iâll proudly wear your jersey,â I replied, a smile breaking across my face.
He fixed me with a pointed look again, the corners of his mouth twitching upwards. âYou better.â

My interpretation of lonnie and will's (+ jonathan's) relationship from what we get from the show:
Lonnie is a neglectful and manipulative father above all, this is what the show tells us. He is a terrible father and person.
Lonnie wants to fix Will and change him. He forces him to play baseball and get into things he doesn't like to make sure he grows up to be a "real man." Joyce knows Lonnie believes he's a queer, a fag. There is no indication that he said it to Will's face, HOWEVER this doesn't make it any less worse. Lonnie still has homophobic opinions about his own son and is trying to "fix" him.
Then we get to the Jonathan and Will scene. Jonathan is trying to distract Will from their parents fighting. When Jonathan brings up Lonnie, Will just seems... Indifferent about him. He doesn't tense up or begin to show fear. He literally asks Jonathan "he isn't coming, is he?" with disappointment. In Billy's childhood memory playing baseball with his father, he literally tells him to leave him alone and runs away. (the parallels are indeed there, but are there to show different situations. billy fears his father because his father is explicitly cruel to him. will is clueless to his father's behavior because his father's cruel intentions are communicated differently through manipulation and control.)
He's indifferent because Will is manipulated by the false hope Lonnie may be giving him. Lonnie does this to Jonathan as well but he sees through it. He knows Lonnie already.
Will is holding onto hope Lonnie may show up more as a father. He wants more time with him. But what he doesn't know is the time Lonnie spends with him, he's actively trying to change him. Will goes with whatever he says because he's young and that's the type of person Will is. He doesn't stand up for himself and goes with whatever is being presented to him.
Jonathan points this out.
He makes Will aware of what Lonnie is actually trying to do. He's making it clear Lonnie isn't trying to be a father to him and spend time with him, he's trying to fix him and make him 'normal.'
Based on Will's body language and choice of words when talking about Lonnie, it seems to me he knows a different Lonnie than Jonathan does. Lonnie would pretend to be someone else to him and mask his true intentions.
Are there implications of physical abuse?
In a way? To me, Lonnie was physically aggressive in a playful but controlling way. In his eyes, it's playing. But he gets to choose when they play with no regard for what Jonathan wants. Lonnie masks it as playful behavior when in reality it's him wanting control and power over someone else. It still hurts Jonathan though. I don't know what to classify this as exactly, but it's wrong It's about the fact there is no consent.
Another example of Lonnie wanting control: Lonnie forces Jonathan to kill an animal with a gun, traumatizing him for a good while, in attempt to make him more of a man. Lonnie gets Will to play baseball to make him more of a man. There is a huge difference obviously, and it could do with their age. Lonnie has a more subtle approach with Will than Jonathan. Will could've eventually been in Jonathan's position if Lonnie had stayed.
From what we are given, between the two siblings, Jonathan was the one that got more shit from Lonnie. It possibly has to do with age and their personalities clashing. Jonathan protected Will from it and made sure Will learnt to not listen to Lonnie at an earlier age than he did.
About the trunk: In my honest opinion, looking back at it, he could have been looking for bags. The more I think about it, it'd just ODD to open a scene with implication he was kidnapped and stuck in the trunk, and not even touch on it and leave it there. Just speaking from a writing perspective. That's a VERY heavy subject to bring in just like that and to treat it like whatever. It's weird to just CASUALLY imply he kidnapped his son like nothing, but the writers want us to actually know Lonnie forces Will to play baseball above anything else. And then just never imply anything else similar to kidnap ever again. It feels off and inconsistent. So I can't fully see the interpretation that Jonathan was looking for Will's body in his trunk. I get why some could come to that conclusion but there's just not enough evidence to support that he would do that.
To me it seems more logical that he believed Will was staying there, especially with the scene between the two. Jonathan sees Will is indifferent to Lonnie. He knows Will's easily manipulated. He plays baseball because that's what Lonnie wants, he'd probably stay at Lonnie's for the same reason.
Will shows no indication of physical abuse unless we're talking about the trauma he has from the UD and possession. Outside of that, he shows more signs he was emotionally abused. This is something we know. We know he's experienced bullying and possibly knows what Lonnie thinks of him, because we know Will can tell when someone think he's different. He's internalized it. The bullying, the UD, and the way people think of him -- it all made him feel like one big mistake.
There are indications of **physical** abuse in other characters in the show and they are quite in your face. From the top of my head, you've got Billy's aggressive behavior, El taking her clothes off in front of the boys, her trauma response from being hid in Mike's closet.
ST and TFS does not hesitate to show us physical abuse on children. They will show us what we need to know. We aren't shown that with Lonnie. The show emphasizes his neglect and need to control/take.
Our first introduction to Lonnie is through Joyce. This is important. They have to tell us exactly what we need to know about Lonnie with little words. And from her description, he sounds like a deadbeat of a homophobic father who is critical over his children. Joyce even says he has nothing to do with it. It doesn't cross her mind that Lonnie could play a role in Will's disappearance because he is an absent father. I think she would have a different mindset if Lonnie was this vicious physical abuser. But no. She sees him as a deadbeat, because that's what he is
When Joyce tells Lonnie to leave after figuring out Lonnie was just there for the money, she goes on a rant on how he was never there. That's what she chooses to bring up. That's what the writers want to emphasize over anything else. His absence. His controlling behavior. His lying and manipulation. This is what makes Lonnie a bad father.
Lonnie is very manipulative, controlling and neglectful. I don't think physically abusive fits in the most. This show in particular will tell you when a father is very physically abusive and bring that to light through several instances (ex: billy's dad). They will show signs a child was physical abused.
Will still struggled in his home. It was a broken home. He wasn't accepted by his father, whether Lonnie made it clear or Will could just tell. His parents fought. Lonnie was never there for him or rarely was. He was abandoned by him. But I do not think Will is fearful of him. I don't think Lonnie is to Will is how Neil is to Billy (Which doesn't make him any less of a bad father! Just different). He's indifferent because Lonnie (from what we can infer) presented himself in a certain/different way to him. Jonathan shows more distaste and anger towards Lonnie because he knows his real intentions.
Now, S5 can obviously introduce something. I bet there is more to Lonnie and the Byers. But this is just how I see it based on everything we're given. Please do not attack me. I am not a fucking Lonnie stan. This is just an analysis.
#not tagging this because i choose life#in conclusion#lonnie is a terrible father and person#but pay attention to the reasons the show is actually presenting you#will isnt any less just because he doesnt have the same experience as billy or el or henry. he doesnt HAVE to be them#there is still trauma and damage left. he was rejected and abandoned by his father

Ok so I'm watching Supernatural right now, right, and I'm also a long time fan of Shadowhunters (as in, I watched it when it first came out, big fan). So I know how the dynamics work in the show quite well.
It also means I find crossover potential between the shows because, let's be honest, they'll go really well together. Two aspects of how the world deals with the supernatural, hunters being unaware of Shadowhunters because they can't even see them. Amazing, 10/10 crossover potential.
Now, what I don't understand is why people take Sam & Dean from the future (AKA later seasons) in their fics and have them work together with the Shadowhunters when there is so much rivalry potential between them.
Take Clary's ability to talk to angels, for example. If the two series were in the same universe, I can assure you that the angels will jump on the opportunity to communicate with her (or just talk to any of the Shadowhunters in general, since angels can do that in Supernatural as long as they have a vessel), tell her lies and/or half truths about the Winchesters
[like how they are demonic in ways warlocks aren't, how they turned at least two angels, one of which is an Archangel, mind you, against heaven and "made" the first one kill other angels for them. They even killed a couple of Archangels. Hell, depending on the timeline, they could even tell them that the Winchesters killed God, they can tell them how ungrateful they are, that they were God's chosen, that he gave them whatever they wanted, powers, immortality (he kept bringing them back to life), their loved ones back, etc and they still killed him]
They could manipulate the Shadowhunters to be on the lookout for the Winchesters just like they did with those church messengers.
What I'm trying to say is, that so many people have them getting along in their fics yet I can't find a single one where people actually explore the dynamics of distrust and even fear (those people killed GOD, everyone who knew would be scared of them) that could happen had the angels actually been involved and the two were actually set in the same universe and with their respective plots progressing at the same time (or at least the same years the shows themselves are set in, just make them match and/or make them interact during each of their respective seasons that occur at the same year/time frame).
It could honestly show such a new, raw and authentic turn of events that could make the fic feel just that much more real.
I love all types of crossover fics, I really do, I'm just really disappointed that there aren't any fics with this dynamic available and instead majority of them are all either Destiel or dimensional travel. It's just a bummer, honestly.

An alternative review of GMMTV Live 2024 part 2
A list of the shared items of clothing that appeared in the trailers, ranked according to the amount I squealed when I spotted it.
6. getricheasy sports shirt
The first of four from Sweet Tooth, Good Dentist, this had its first appearance in Only Friends and was used in the promotional material for The Outing but I didn't spot it in the show, so I'm happy to see it again. Who knows if it will be used in the actual show...that goes for any of these items incidentally.
5. Blue with yellow detail knitted vest
I've had a screenshot of this vest worn by Thor since I saw it as Wednesday Club aired. I swear I've seen it somewhere else before but can't remember. But hence why it immediately jumped out to me in Perfect 10 Liners.
4. Green sports jacket
On to the second of the four from Sweet Tooth, Good Dentist, and oh to be Poon and be able to wear the jacket that our King and Queen have worn -> first by Namtan in UMG and then Mix in his glorious cameo at the end of Only Friends. I predict we'll see this again a few more times.
3. Blue with brown edging shirt
I was happy to see this one, another in Sweet Tooth, Good Dentist, because I had kept it in my mind since seeing it in Only Friends - as another potential that might get worn again. It's subtle yet quite distinct...and very much in a similar vibe as many other shirts worn by Force (and shared with Sea, Ngern, and New amongst others).
2. Red, blue, and green striped t-shirt
I'm impressed with my brain for spotting this one, the last from Sweet Tooth, Good Dentist, because at first it just felt familiar, and I immediately thought of UMG but I thought it might just be because it's similar to a few stripy colour shirts that Nanon wore. But I had a look through my screenshots of the series and eventually found it all the way at the end...
1. Ink's mustard knitted vest!
This one I could not believe. Never in my wildest dreams did I think we would see this iconic vest from Bad Buddy again. But here we are, on Mix no less in Ossan's Love. It's not something you'd expect to see on Mix...but then again I thought the costuming of the trailer looked a lot more 'quirky' than usual and very much fitting the kooky/slapstick vibe of the series. But honestly, this made my day.
#INK'S VEST!!#to be honest I was a little disappointed there weren't more clothes from the communal wardrobe#but I'm still happy to see all these being used#we'll see which ones make it to the actual filming#gmmtv 2024#sweet tooth good dentist#perfect 10 liners#ossans love thailand#only friends the series#ofts#the outing#wednesday club#UMG#unidentified mysterious girlfriend#bad buddy#bad buddy series#I suppose I should look into who does the clothes/styling for these shows#because it might be the same person...which would therefore make sense that the clothes get used again#or it could be that there is just one central 'store' where all the designers dip into to get some items#who knows...#the thai communal wardrobe

The Last Jedi AU: Ignore whateverâs supposed to happen or where people are in this movie. Paige Tico is foiled in her attempt to release the bombs that would take out the First Order ship. Her ship is boarded and sheâs taken onboard the Star Destroyer as a captive intelligence officer, but before sheâs captured sheâs able to relay a covert message to Rose telling her what happened.
Instead of the diversion to Canto Bight, Rose is the one with the knowledge of splicing into Imperial ships and she and Finn impulsively plan to jet over to the Star Destroyer in an escape pod Rose had been experimenting with a cloaking device on, the two of them breaking in on their own.
Finn finds Poe to tell him of Paigeâs capture and his and Roseâs plan. Poe knows that he canât condone or contribute resources to it and knows for a FACT Leia wonât allow it, despite the fact Paige is a friend and the same rank he is. Heâs torn between getting her back but needing to stay and lead, so he he tells them to take BB-8 and does that Mr. Incredible thing where he tells Finn and Rose what âNOTâ to do to get into an Imperial flagship, him planning the distraction from the outside and still screwing with Hux over the comms and keeping eyes turned his way as Finn and Rose sneak onboard to find Paige.
Can you imagine if like they manage to get into some labs while theyâre doing recon and Finn senses something? Can you imagine him hesitating as they move, telling Rose they have to go back while sheâs hissing for him to keep moving? Her either hacking into the tech to redirect First Order troops away from their location, or going off to find her sister herself while Finn stays behind? Finn finding schematics and draftings alongside old codexes and scrolls before eventually coming to the humming, fractured kyber crystal in the next room, hanging suspended in midair above the equipment? Realizing as heâs digging through the odd mix of both scientific and semi-magical texts what itâs for, but that Ren hasnât been able to force it to conform to his needs, too unstable to be housed even in his own lightsaber? Finn starting to configure and piece things together even as Rose tells him theyâre running out of time?
As theyâre sneaking around, gathering pertinent information to the plot and finding Renâs plans for Rey and Skywalker, theyâre nearly caughtâ Surrounded by First Order troops and with seemingly no way out, Rose and Finn prepare for the worst, when all of a sudden one of the troops goes rogue and eliminates all of their fellow officers instead. Paige Tico managed to escape and had disguised herself, just happening to be lucky enough to run into them in the lower levels. Paige tells them of some of the other rebel prisoners aboard the ship she was planning to break out, and the three of them, finally united, start plotting their means off Renâs flagship when they overhear Hux in the corridor talking about Ren meditating in some inner sanctum with an order to be left alone with his own retinue on pain of death as he searches the Force or whatever for the location of Rey and Skywalker
Back onboard the New Republic ship Poe and Leia confer with the other generals as to what the Sithâs next move is going to be when they receive an incoming transmission from Kylo Ren himself.
As Kylo Ren and Leia Organa face off in what was to be their last confrontation, the tone and gravitas of their conversation somber, something flickers over the feed, and everybody on the New Republic shipâs bridge sees a blinding arc of light as one of the First Order troops behind Ren steps out of line and carves a blade of shimmering green in a downward arc directly behind him.
Outraged and caught off guard, Ren blocks the attack with his own blade, both lightsabers flickering with different energies, and as Finnâs voice shouts over the holo Poe realizes that not only has Finn given them an opening to hit Renâs flagship, he may have even been able to stop this war in its tracks.
#sequel trilogy#Finn#Poe Dameron#Rose Tico#Paige Tico#Kylo Ren#Leia Organa#star wars au#I justâŠâŠ.. did not like the plots of the sequel trilogy movies that I DID see#Havenât seen Rise of Skywalker#The other two just werenât good#The whole Canto Bight sequence was silly#The idea of trusting Benicio Del Toro was ridiculous#Poeâs weird storyline#Just. All of it tbh#Iknow it seems like I make a lot of âThis Character Lives! AUs but have you considered#Using characters more effectively in the beginning of stories can lead to more meaningful deaths later when you DO use that as a plot point#And like with this you can obviously be following Paigeâs escape and sneaking around the Star Destroyer in between Finn and Roseâs scenes#as well as Poeâs scenes#Idk what Reyâs doing. I thought the writersâ and directorsâ use of the OG characters was disappointing and ooc#So I donât⊠especially care about Rey if Iâm honest#Finn should have been the Jedi#and/or Rey should have been a Kenobi#âââOrââ a lot of things#Lot of ways you could have done those characters#hounds speaks

anyway in case it wasnât obvious I read Gokurakugai
itâs good yall should check it out
#To be totally honest I think I like the one shot better than the full series#(I like the focus on the urban fantasy city and crime underworld in the one-off more than the demon fighting stuff of the full series)#but the series isnât bad by any means#Itâs nice for what it is so far#Itâs not too long yet only 18 chapters not counting said one-off#Which could be good or bad depending on how you see it#On one hand a chance to get in early on something that could be pretty cool#On the other hand it still has time to turn out to be disappointing#But itâs fun! I think itâs worth the gamble

Just saw the fnaf movie and I am literally so glad that my favorite stupid fucking bastard was in the movie and we got a springlock failure scene like was the movie the greatest no but I got exactly what I wanted so goddamn it I'm gonna be happy about it
#genuinely that portion w/William at the end was the best part of the movie hands down#like there were some things that I wish could be different and Vanessa being all cryptic to Mike was kinda frustrating#but honestly its about what I expect out of scott bc to be honest he is not a good writer#i very desperately need the next two movies like I need air#they better do mangle right in the second one and if I hear even one gender joke I'm burning the entire theater down#bc unless its a trans person making a gender joke they are not funny#and I just know it isn't going to be a queer person writing that line so it will not be funny#I do hope we get to see mark in the second one and I mean it fits since out of the first three games the second is his favorite#also the matpat scene was literally so fucking funny#also I dont watch Cory x Kenshin but he was good for his cameo in the movie#I do also wish that there was a portion that was a bit more like the traditional game#I was a little disappointed at how little we actually saw the animatronics much less them being an actual threat#like mike was able to take them down with the tazer pretty easily#which like yeah they weren't The Big Bad but like y'know#also somebody LIED bc someone said that there was a character that hadn't been revealed yet in the movie#and like everyone we saw was accounted for#so a lot of people (myself included)#thought it was going to be the marionette#SAD!#not the end of the world though#someone else also said the characters were going to talk which they also lied about but im actually glad they didn't talk#I do like how mike and abby seemed like actual siblings though with their dialogue#overall id give the movie 3.5 out of 5 stars#about what I expected#some things could have been better but I got the main thing I wanted#I mean the springlock scene I wish was a little more dramatic but I mean there's only so much you can do in a pg 13 movie#so I'm not too disappointed#overall pretty satisfied and awaiting the second one#wonder when it'll come out since like I don't think it'll be as fast as the time between like scream 5 and 6#cuz 6 came out really quickly after 5 I feel

I love collei so much but it should be noted. the collei that I love is the completely fake ideal version of her that only exists inside of my head
#well and lee's too. tbh#being completely honest i think i would actually dislike collei had i not read the webtoon#not for any serious reason its just that her portrayal in the game is like... very two dimensional i guess#she just comes across a very palatably shy cute girl yknow.. not to mention how her eleazar is treated#it just so happened that i got attached to her so my anger got redirected#towards hoyoverse as a whole for writing her like that#but initially it was like.. directed towards her as a character i was very neutral on the cusp of being annoyed by her#or rather like... the concept/trope that she represents i guess#all of the things that make collei so interesting to me are practically nonexistant in the game#(for now) im hoping the rest of windblume continues to expand upon her character#but also id be pretty disappointed if the extent of what they do with her is just... she doesnt want to be shy#which is like. Fine i dont think its horrible#but one of the primary things that make her such an interesting character to me is her anger#how it was the only emotion she let herself feel for a long time and howit was the one constant she could rely on#in a world that she principally not trust out of survival#and now that she doesnt want to be angry anymore shes at a loss at how to fill the void#because its so much easier to be angry than it is to be anything else#i think the concept of her struggling to become a kinder person is Soooooo vastly interesting and adds so much more to her character#but unfortunately thats all stuff that only exists in my head. and i doubt it will get much mention in the game#even with windblume happening#colleiction

something the movies got just so horrifically wrong about gale is how he feels about katniss and peeta's relationship. bc in catching fire his whole "yeah well it was a good [act]" comment is just completely off base from how gale feels or thinks about it in the books. movie gale is expressing major jealousy towards peeta and he thinks that maybe katniss was being genuine. while in the book, k+p's fake relationship just represents another way in which the capitol controls and oppresses the people of the country. gale resents the relationship bc sees it as the capitol's design and something katniss has no choice in. the fake relationship is robbing everyone of the choice of who they want to be with in the future and is a tool of distraction from the rising tensions in the districts
#and honestly i'm sure on the more emotional side of things he might resent peeta as well for putting the idea out there#but he understands that's the only way both k and p could have made it home#and he's a teenaged boy so it's not surprising he'd have some disappointment seeing the girl he loves with another person#m#thg#i'll be honest some of this stuff is what katniss says about herself and im just extrapolating#but like gale's indifference or resentment of peeta is political and not personal#(the 'i wish it were easier to hate [peeta]' scene)#and the scene in catching fire with the gloves#i think show that peeta and his relationship w katniss is just another way the capitol has robbed gale of agency nd a chance at a happy life
