“He hasn’t been alright (Y/N),” Karen sighs, “when he’s here he’s on edge. I know he can hear things we can’t, but it’s like…it’s like he’s not really here.”

You’re sitting next to her at Josie’s bartop, the crowd is mellow on this rainy Wednesday night. You can tell Karen is genuinely concerned about Matt, the look in her eye tells you so. You’re running through the possible reasons why your boyfriend could be feeling this way, but you draw a blank. You furrow your eyebrows, frustrated, “He’s been quiet lately, but he never brings it up.” 

The blonde in front of you takes another sip of her drink before she clears her throat, “I don’t know what’s going on, but I have a feeling it has something to do with the devil.”

You can only nod your head. You hate when Matt gets in over his head about his nightly activities, it’s hard when you can’t do anything about it, not like he lets you anyway. “I’ll keep an eye out for him the next few days,” you reach into your wallet for cash, “just keep me updated about how he is at work, okay?”

She stands with you from the seat, giving you a tight hug as you say your goodbyes, and heading home to your apartments. You can’t help but think about Matt the entire walk home, your mind taking you to dark places. It wasn’t hard to worry about him, considering the fact that he loves to push himself past the limit more often than not. 

You would never tell him to stop, right?

For the next few days, you start to pay attention to Matt when he’s home. The first thing you notice is that he seems to always be in a rush. He’s quick to get ready for the day, and he’s quick to get ready for the night. You’re not sure where this sudden boost in drive has come from, but what Matt doesn’t realize is that the quicker he riles himself up, the harder he plummets. 

You’ve gotten multiple texts from Karen during the day that Matt is blowing up on Foggy while clients are in the room. You know that something’s wrong, and you don’t know how to fix it, but you have to try. 

Later that day, you caught Matt putting his suit on to go out into the city, the sun draining the light away from your apartment. As he’s about to put his helmet on, your voice interrupts his movements, “Matty, can we talk real quick?”

He sighs, already walking away from you, “I’m about to leave, can we talk later?” 

“How long have you been feeling like you need to do more for the city when you do more than enough?” 

Your question catches him off guard, he stops in his tracks, his back facing you. He can hear that your heart is beating faster than normal, the question making you nervous. “I don’t know what you’re talking about,” he responds, quickly. 

You cannot help but laugh at his response, “You’re a terrible liar.” 

Shaking his head out of frustration, he takes a deep breath, “You don’t need to worry about anything that I do when I’m out at night, trust me.”

“Another shitty lie, Matty,” you walk towards him. Once you reach his back, you raise your hand to hold his arm, giving it a soft squeeze. Unconsciously, he leans into your touch. You know that he’s been craving this kind of softness since he started to act differently. “You know that I still worry, even though you tell me not to. I can’t help it,” you speak softly. 

And suddenly, it’s like his hard demeanor returned with a flip of a switch, “I need to get out there (Y/N),” he shrugs his arm out of your hold. You’re left there standing like an idiot in the middle of the living room as you watch your boyfriend walk away from you. You can’t help but feel angry, it’s like everything you said went through one ear and spilled out the other. Turning on your heel you walk to the closet, pulling down the suitcase, letting it slam on the floor. You don’t care. 

The obvious slam caught Matt’s attention, his worries now focused on you. He hears more shuffling coming from your shared bedroom, along with sniffles. He calls out to you, before walking to you, “(Y/N)?” 

He’s met with no response, just the sounds of your muffled sobs and the rustling of clothes. As he gets closer to you, he can taste the salt in the air as your tears stream down your face, and suddenly he’s panicking. “I never wanted it to get to this point,” you zip up the suitcase as you rise to your feet, Matt’s sudden appearance scaring you as you see his figure. 

His eyes are darting back and forth as he tries to de-escalate the situation, yet his tone is still sharp,  “What point?” 

You’re still a mess, running your hand across your eyes to wipe your tears, you smear your makeup across your skin. With an uneven breath, you respond, “You’ve reached the point where you stop valuing yourself and the people around you to dig your own grave, Matthew.” You try to make your way around Matt, but he doesn’t make it easy as he holds your shoulders, keeping you in place. 

“Don’t make me do this,” he says quietly, “don’t make me choose.”

You think that you’ve actually gotten through to him, you hope a sense of clarity has finally washed through his senses. Until you see his head twitch, his ear lifting towards the air. You can’t hear anything, but you know that he already has an exact location of whatever commotion is happening in the streets of Hell’s Kitchen. 

With your boyfriend distracted, you shrug his hands off your shoulders, “Looks like I didn’t have to make you choose, you’ve already figured out your answer yourself.” 

As you’re walking out of the bedroom and towards the front door of the apartment, Matt calls for you, “I’ll be back in a few hours, then we can talk, okay? Just–please, don’t go anywhere.”

And just like that, he slips out of the window, not even waiting for your response. Maybe Matt’s heart will never fully belong to you, and you should’ve known that when you first met him. He has always and will always dedicate himself to the city, and you’ll just have to come to terms with not being his priority. That is if you stay.

my thoughts were that Billy met her while he was traveling/on the run maybe she snuck up to his camp while he was sleeping and tried to steal food and he caught her. And he'd notice how calm she is about it, how she's dressed in men's clothes, how she doesn't seem afraid of him even if he did end up pulling his gun out at first. She doesn't even raise hers. And on her end, I think she'd immediately be like shit...he's handsome, so she draws everything out on purpose so she could stick around him longer, but he'd probably end up feeling bad seeing a woman on her lonesome without any food, so he'd give her some food and tell her to leave him alone. And she does.

But then, I could see them having more miscellaneous run-ins where she starts to learn how easy it is to annoy him, how fun it is, and how hot he looks when angry. It's little things, like stealing from him or even something like beating him in a poker game and gloating about it afterward. But at the end of the day, they always end up in separate ways. She'd always be satisfied with the smallest interaction and Billy would always be annoyed at it, but he's also intrigued like, what's her deal? She must be an outlaw or at least running from something, but he cannot get a read on her, and it's driving him crazy. Then he'd stop seeing her around for a bit, so he'd almost forget?

But things lead to another and she meets Jesse. So, by the time Billy regroups with him and joins the gang once more, she's there and learns about how much she's befriended Jesse and proved herself that she's also a part of the gang. Maybe she didn't even know they knew one another too, so when Billy comes riding in, it's like a pleasant surprise to her and she'd joke about it being fate, making Billy roll his eyes.

you guys just don’t understand how much i love this man OH MY GOD. he admires you and your artwork so so much he keeps complimenting you and you just look at him like ‘🥹’ ok idk if it’s just me but it’s always the art students or any kind of design student that has such good fashion and that’s what armin also loves so much about you. he loves all the different outfits you pull off he literally said “you are the definition of ‘wear the dress don’t let the dress wear you” like OMG???? KISS ME??? but this guy does not like it when you stay up late working on art projects and consuming a shit ton of caffeine. he forces you to go to bed and work on it the next day cause he cares about your health and you cannot stop him. i feel like she would be an art student too so she understands the work and stress that goes down in assignments and tests. occasionally you two would sit together and work on your assignments together but most of the time yall prefer doing it separately. it’s nothing personal but you two agreed that nothing would get done so it’s better to do your thing alone. mikasa honestly admires your creativity so much and is just so impressed by your talent. she’s just so proud of you she’ll be like “that’s my partner!!” but plzzz i beg you to compliment her art because it makes her so happy that you think she has potential when she really does :(( sometimes you sit at starbucks with her and go over some ideas and brainstorm together, showing rough ideas while drinking iced coffee

he really loves the quietness in the room with some music playing through the speaker connected to your phone. it’s not anything loud or chaotic. mainly cigarettes after sex cause it’s giving levi so much. he tends to give some suggestions with your work on how it can be better and most of the time they’re actually helpful and you look at him with squinted eyes wondering if he’s secretly an art student. he likes you watch you work while he drinks his tea and you drink your iced coffee or redbull (i love redbull sm). at night however, oh god. you love art so much that you’re willing to stay up till 2 am drawing random things and it’s not even an assignment. this man is DRAGGING you to bed and your literally just fighting for your life to go back and finish that sketch but he makes you sleep and you get so pissed about it but fall asleep when your head hits the pillow😭

they’re like armin but with some extra energy. they are genuinely so curious with what you work on and what kind of materials you use. if you’re working on a canvas they love seeing how well you use acrylic paints and mix them to make a new colour and they find it so aesthetically pleasing and they don’t know why. they just stare at you like a god/goddess with heart eyes. they love it so much they asked you to teach them basics. you of course said yes but poor hange just could not understand what was happening i feel so bad for them. you both came to the conclusion that hange was not made for art but they still admire it.

this bastard literally teases you but you know he means well. he actually helps around a lot which shocks you. if you needed something, he will speed run to get whatever you need. let it be water, paint, tissue. whatever it is, he suddenly becomes a track star and gets what you need. even though he teases you, he loves what you do knowing damn well he can’t do it. he does tend to distract you though just so you can pay attention to him while you’re working and you just look at him like ‘boy wtf-’ but in the end, he’s so proud of you and he does love you. he just likes to make fun of you but dw he’s a sweetheart and doesn’t mean it. he just has ego issues PFFTT

-HATES HORROR MOVIES!! like this is a given but he will stay up all night thinking about it. its the one thing he stands up for himself on is not being forced to wathc horror movies (mostly because its the only thing both william and lizzie will back him up on)

-doesn't have friends and is regarded as weird, but kids avoid him for the most part. most of his bullying comes from ppl who know michael.

Neil really succinctly summed up the slippery slope of any abusive relationship. How they draw you in, and slowly change you and isolate you from everyone and they start asking things of you and at first you think it's fine, but it becomes more and more and at a certain point you think you might not want to do it but you alrwady did so much else and you don't want them to leave/hurt you so you keep doing it because it feels like there is no other choice.

Human LPS fair headcanons because my local state fair is next month and I'm excited

This was very fun to write out, so I hope you enjoy.

(I'm putting these all into categories so it's easier to manage.)  

Seeing the animals: 

-They definitely spend a considerable amount of time looking at the animals, mostly because there are a lot to see. Probably around an hour to an hour and a half. 

-Russell has more fun talking to the farmers/owners of the animals than actually seeing the animals themselves. He'll stand there forever just asking questions about feed, general caretaking, temperaments, etc. He also enjoys reading the little information slips about them and observing their behavior. 

-Seeing the animals is Penny's favorite part of the fair. She spends almost half of her money on treats for them, and pets the ones that she's allowed to. She genuinely cannot pick a favorite animal, because she gets attached to almost every single one she sees. She definitely cried when she saw a bunch of little piglets and calves with their mothers. If she could, she would definitely stay there all day. 

-Sunil…really doesn't enjoy this part of the fair. A lot of the farm animals specifically make him really nervous, mostly because they're so big. Since he doesn't want to have a panic attack in the middle of a crowded fair, he usually stands outside, away from the stables. He might go to see the small animals, such as chickens and rabbits, and wait for everyone else there. 

-Zoe likes to look at the animals and admire their beauty. She also definitely gushes over the babies. However, she prefers to not get too close or touch them, because she doesn't want her hands or clothes getting dirty. Usually after a few minutes, she goes to join Sunil outside. 

-Minka definitely enjoys going to see the animals. Like Penny, she likes to interact with them as much as she can. She does get a bit underwhelmed after a while, though. She can only spend so much time feeding or patting them before she gets bored/antsy and needs to go do something else. 

-Vinnie absolutely loves the goats. Sure, he thinks that all the other animals are cool in their own ways, too. But there's something about the goats that just draws him to them. He'll literally just stand in the same spot for like 15 minutes attempting to pat each and every goat within the enclosure. Russell is fully convinced that the fencing between them is the only thing stopping Vinnie from stealing one. 

-Pepper has a blast with the animals. The pigs are her favorite for no specific reason. She just thinks they're neat. She spends a lot of time taking pictures, specifically of animals that are making weird faces or doing funny things. She always sends the most atrocious ones to her friends captioned with "omg I found your twin!" or something of the sort. 

Rides: 

(I'm mostly going with the ride names that are used at my local fair 😭)

-Oh, god.

-There are specific rides that all of them go on together, such as carousels, 'Zero Gravity', 'Flying Bobs', and other similar carnival rides. 

-Russell typically refuses to go on any rides other than the ones they go on as a group because a lot of them make him feel a bit too unsafe. He has far more fun watching and/or videotaping his friends screaming on rides. His favorite is Zero Gravity.

-Zoe is willing to try almost every ride once. She definitely regrets some of them, which caused her neck or leg pain, but 9/10 times she enjoys most of them. Her favorite ride is 'Twister'(there are multiple carnival rides with this name, and I cannot for the life of me find any pictures or descriptions of the one I'm thinking of. All you need to know is that it's unexpectedly violent and whips you around like a ragdoll.) She isn't very fond of the ferris wheel unless she has a romantic partner with her. Otherwise she finds it quite underwhelming. 

-Minka can and will get on every ride that she physically can, including kids' rides(as long as she doesn't exceed the height limit). She definitely prefers the more fast paced thrill rides. Her favorite is the Fire Ball, which she goes on at least twice despite the long lines. She's always trying to drag someone on rides throughout the entire day. It's usually Pepper, Zoe or Vinnie that goes with her. 

-Vinnie has a hard time picking a favorite, because he has so much fun on all of them. He does know his least favorite though, which is the Zipper. Pepper dragged him onto it one time, and they were both promptly pelted with their loose pocket change. And he kept bumping his face against the padded bars.The line for that ride is also super long at all times. Other than that, he usually just runs around with Minka and tries to hit every ride at least once. If he was forced to pick a favorite, he would probably choose Flying Bobs. 

-Pepper loves going around and hopping onto random rides with short lines that are tucked away at the outskirts of the fair. This is because she realized that a lot of these rides are far more intense than the more popular ones that are in the center of the fair. Her all time favorite is the Hurricane, which starts super abruptly and causes the rider to be stuck against the seat for like 3 whole minutes. She especially enjoys watching other people's reactions. 

-Sunil actually only 100% refuses to go on two rides. Those are the ferris wheel, because being suspended in the air for long periods of time freaks him out, and the Zipper, because of Vinnie's experience(also bc he's tall, and he doesn't want his legs to get squished). He does, however, enjoy some of the other thrill rides. At least, he claims to. His favorite is the standard pirate ship ride, as the bar sits pretty snug against him, so he feels secure enough. Even though he claims that he's not afraid, the entire time he's like:

-Penny's a sucker for the swings, especially the swing towers that go up super high. They give her a nice view of the fair and the city lights off in the distance. It also feels super freeing for her. Of course, she's also a fan of the more intense, scary ones, too. However, she sometimes has to turn them down since she snacks on fair food a bit throughout the day, and she wants to let her stomach settle first so she doesn't get sick. 

-Minka and Vinnie got sore necks from some of those super violent rides. From below, they looked as if they were leaning back and relaxing. In reality, they were unable to move, stuck in those positions from the sheer force of the ride. 

-Pepper tried(and failed) to ride a mechanical bull. Russell recorded the entire thing.

-Whenever they go on rides together, Sunil will grip onto Vinnie's hand if he gets too nervous. By the end of the night, Vinnie definitely has sore, possibly bruised hands, but he doesn't regret it too much. 

Fair food: 

-Vinnie's go-to snack is fried pickles and cherry slushies(he would get mango flavored if he could find it, but unfortunately his options are limited to cherry or blue raspberry) 

-Minka goes to the first ice cream stand  she sees and get their version of a banana split. She also mooches off of other people's drinks all day. 

-Pepper always goes for chicken tenders and Pepsi. She likely gets many refills throughout the day. 

-Zoe likes the candy apples. She gets one early on at the fair, and she also buys one more as they're leaving, just because 

-The lemonade is Sunil's favorite thing at the fair, because it isn't too sweet or too sour. He also usually gets mozzarella sticks. 

-Russell really likes snow cones. For some reason they just make him happy. He always gets green apple flavored. 

-Penny loves getting a slice of plain cheese pizza and strawberry lemonade. 

-They get two large orders of fries to share. One probably has cheese.

-Zoe and Sunil get distracted by the fun houses for a good half hour

-They didn't go to see the circus that the fair held, but they saw a guy in a clown suit from said circus. For some reason, Minka and Vinnie decided to track him down for like 10 minutes just to get some pictures with him. Russell was absolutely mortified. 

-A big chunk of their time at the fair was just sitting down at a picnic table, listening to a cover band play from a little gazebo not too far away, and talking. 

-They took a ton of pictures and all spammed their group chat with them late at night. Russell definitely prints them out and keeps them in a scrap book.

i think i started the annual of injustice2 before i went on my unintentional comic break (had a friends wedding and just Life happening) but i need to actually commit to continuing my read. for a little bit before my break i had started on some of the old dc/marvel amalgam comic specials because i think the concept of mashing characters together, especially from different comic universes, is really fun.

oh!! so i was away at the beach for my friends wedding (wild that i am old enough that the friends my age are getting married.) but while we were there my family went to a flea market and i found some of the old guard tales through time comics for 2$ each and i bought three of them. i haven’t cracked any of them open or even taken them out of their plastic sleeves yet but i’m proud of myself for getting them bc they are used (though in pretty good condition) i’m not a fan of the traditional tog comic art but, at least for the one joenicky one, the art is a lot more my speed. and i got the andy and nile cover ones too because. women.

i think i would like to go to a comic con eventually. at some point. a smaller con though probably.
