Is the knowledge of magic gatekept by Hell's elite?

Time for another shitpost speculative analysis. And, suddenly, no conclusions—just some facts I’ve gathered about the topic from the show and a bunch of questions for you. Because this time, as much as I would’ve liked to deliver some hot details, there isn’t enough information yet, and I prefer not to claim anything without having at least some degree of certainty in it.

So let's just talk and make some fun, semi-educated guesses, shall we?

Yesterday, @tealvenetianmask released a wonderful post about Blitzø and his insecurity regarding his intelligence. Give it a read—it's a topic that isn’t discussed enough. One of the points raised was his limited access to education, which made me think.

Grimoire.

An infinitely powerful artifact possessed by Stolas Goetia is central to the series, at least before The Full Moon episode, as it is the only way for Blitzø to access the mortal realm. While it serves its own purposes for bringing together—and ultimately breaking apart—Stolas and Blitzø, it also has many interesting properties and details that allow us to speculate on magic as a whole.

It made me think: Who theoretically can use this grimoire or other spell artifacts? Why is it that no one but Stolas is permitted to use it? Are there genetic and/or biological reasons for this, or is the restriction societally driven?

Namely, would all hell beings be able to use magic if given the chance to learn it?

Let’s examine the evidence we have and try to answer at least some of these questions.

Clue one: Using the grimoire by anyone other than Stolas is illegal

It is clearly stated by Stolas himself in these two episodes.

You know, I have been... permitting you to access the mortal realm less than... legally for quite some time now? S1EP1, Murder Family, 8:31

You will be able to go anywhere you want in the human realm without fear of consequence. Without breaking demon law. You no longer need my grimoire. S2EP8, The Full Moon, 19:05

The question is, why? We know it’s not crucial to have Goetia blood to channel magic from the grimoire—Loona has read spells from it, as we'll discuss later.

Could the reason be that the Goetia family wants to keep their powerful artifacts a secret and maintain their hold on power?

Clue two: Magic books are written in runes

The grimoire and Stolas's book about Asmodean crystals are written in runes, suggesting the potential existence of a language barrier when sharing magic-related knowledge.

It is oddly convenient if you want fewer people to understand the sacred information you wish to keep to yourself.

Clue three: Stolas does not need his grimoire to cast spells from it

It is briefly discussed in the Seeing Stars episode.

[Blitzo]: No chance you can conjure us a couple of those, can ya? [Stolas]: Sadly, no. I'm afraid without my grimoire, my powers are just a tad limited in the human world. [Blitzo]: What, you can't memorize your fucking spells? [Stolas]: Oh, your memory's so great?  S2EP2, Seeing Stars, 6:33

See, Stolas does not deny Blitzø's assumption and gets annoyed when his memory is belittled. Therefore, I believe we can safely deduce that it is indeed a matter of only remembering the necessary chants to cast a spell. It is still possible that the artifact holds power on its own and Stolas needs it to access magic in the mortal realm, but it doesn't seem like the absence of the book prevented him from making two poor little human beings soil their little fancy trousers.

And he does not need the book to summon the portals, it is seen multiple times throughout the series.

Not mentioning him performing small magic tricks quite regularly:

So, can we make a conclusion the grimoire is not so unique after all, if to memorize all the spells? Not sure, because... okay, I promise, we will get back to it later.

Clue four: Loona can use the grimoire, even though she is a lower-class demon

And she can shapeshift without any artifacts, which might suggest she has more magical abilities than other members of I.M.P. Her ability to read runes is also noteworthy.

Do you think she could become a skilled magician with proper education? It's quite impressive that she knows the rune language to begin with, given her origin!

Clue five: Blitzø, Millie, and Moxxie are never seen using the book

Is this accidental, or are they simply unable to use the book? If the latter, is it because they are physically incapable of channeling magic (e.g., due to being imps), or is it because they don’t understand the language of the spells?

I noticed them bantering about replacing Loona because of her horrible attitude once or twice (such as at the beginning of the Seeing Stars episode). Does this mean they could take on her responsibility of opening the portal, or is it just bluff? There’s no way to know for sure.

Clue six: The I.M.P. crew is never shown trying any spells from the book other than those for portals

I.M.P. never tries any spells other than opening the portal, which seems strange, especially since they could have used disguise spells, as mentioned earlier in clue three.

Is it because they physically can’t use other spells, or is it an unspoken rule not to meddle with a powerful artifact whose true implications they might not fully understand?

Clue seven: Without the grimoire, the I.M.P. crew is not able to access the mortal realm

And it is posed as a big deal—the whole Season 2 setup revolves around Stolas freeing Blitzø by calling off the transactional agreement and providing a grimoire replacement, the Asmodean crystal.

This seems to contradict clue three. Perhaps there are specifics we have yet to learn or understand.

Why? If simply remembering the spell is enough, they would only need the book once. If Loona can read runes, she could write the spells down when Blitzø stole it, making the entire ordeal unnecessary.

Maybe, just knowing the spell isn’t enough to use it without the book. Maybe, special education or training is needed to prepare the body for it. Or, maybe, being born into royalty is a prerequisite for channeling magic without artifacts.

Maybe, if not conclusions, let's at least make a guess?

So, here’s everything I’ve gathered on the matter.

Without additional information, it seems a bit contradictory, and I admit, I sometimes get the feeling these might be plot holes left because this isn’t the focus of the story. This would be surprising though, as the show is usually very detailed and well-built in terms of worldbuilding.

I’m going to try to fill in these gaps with my speculations, just for fun. Please don’t consider this as making any claims; it’s more about me engaging in some mental gymnastics because I’m a lore geek and love figuring out how the fictional world works in media.

So, my take on whether the knowledge is gatekept or not: in short, it is.

If not so short:

I speculate (like highly speculate, because I have no proof), that any hellbeing could theoretically learn and use magic. It might require certain genetic preconditions, natural talent, and extensive training, but success is possible to varying degrees;

Artifacts assist in channeling magic for those who are untrained—like the grimoire helps the I.M.P. crew open portals;

Magic knowledge is encoded in runes to complicate the learning process for those not taught in it;

This knowledge is kept secret and shared only within royal circles, with different branches having their own secret techniques and specialties;

There are also laws prohibiting the sharing of this knowledge with lower-class demons.

Why? It’s simple—power wouldn’t be power if it could be used by just anyone. Withholding resources and granting access to it only to the wealthy is a characteristic of non-democratic regimes, and, mind you, Hell is an absolute monarchy at best.

every day for a week after that he sits in the far corner of the parking lot cooking in the summer heat, dying, dying, dying, deciding how he should best approach you. Hello, bright angel, speak again, for thou art as glorious to this night, being o'er his head, as is a winged messenger of heaven unto the white-upturned wondering eyes of mortals fall back to gaze on him. Then he decided he would get to know you better before introducing himself.

He watches you from outside with binoculars at work, dreaming about biting every inch of exposed skin on our arms, neck, and legs. It's not even a lustful stare, but in awe. He is not the caught deer at that moment, but the hunter, who was too soft-hearted to take the shot when his prey wandered into his sights by a stroke of luck, and instead decided to put down his weapon and watch the graceful animal graze.

He buys a camera and follows you back to your house, telling himself that he just wants to get to know your interests to be sure that you have enough in common, and have a few nice photographs for your future family albums. He wasn’t going to take pictures inside your window or anything sick like that, your public social media posts showed plenty of everything he wanted to see and you were so, so easy to find online, but you were extra interesting to Terzo when you weren’t doing anything in particular, and that he needed to catch.

There was so much to learn about you, now that he had you in his sights. Your favorite drinks, foods, hobbies, habits, uniforms, friends, families, phone numbers, and even your perfume, that Terzo managed to catch a whiff of one day when he was lingering too close. He bought a bottle before the sun went down, sprayed it on his bed, and that night buried himself in your sweet scented grave. The weight of the dirt felt like your tight embrace. 

He dyed his hair and changed his style to match a poster of a band he saw in your bedroom, hoping that that would make you think he's more attractive. You were so perfect, it would be no effort for Terzo to make himself into something you might at least find acceptable, no trouble at all.

From then on anything in his normal life falls to the wayside. His work, his friends, his family. People are concerned about why he looks so pale and where he is all day and night but none of it matters to him, because it isn't about you. He turned himself into the most lonely wretch imaginable, as if he had killed the man he used to be and walked through his new life as a ghost of what he once was. No brothers, no family, not duties. As an intangible spirit he is more free than when he was a hard-body young man. 

He follows you between home, work, school, your friends houses, your families houses, the store, anywhere you might go. He photographs you on the beach toasting in the sun like a marshmallow, all sticky in the middle. He immortalizes images of you with paper grocery bags in your arms and sunglasses on your head holding back your cascading hair. If he submitted his collection of photographs to National Geographic he could have won a prize.

He wrote songs about you that you would never hear, he wrote poems about you that you would never read. Food tasted bad if he didn’t know it was something you liked. If he didn’t spray your perfume in his room he couldn’t sleep, when he did fall asleep in his bed and not in his car a street over from your house, just to be close to you. When he could sleep, he dreamed about killing everyone you knew for the simple crime of having met you first:

Get a gun and shoot them in the face, stab them, bury them alive, hang them in the town square, chop them up and put them in different dumpsters all over town, even give them to the ghouls. He had never been filled with such rage in his life. How dare they be around you? Touch you? Laugh with you? Know you? Pigs would eat anything you put in front of them, bones and all, and Terzo swore to god if they took one bite of you he would feed them to their kind. He is not a murderer, he is not that deranged. Or at least, he wasn't before. He didn't used to be.

What was left of Terzo felt if he did not make contact soon he would perish completely. It had been long enough. He went into your work and you noticed him first. You approached him. You talked him through some phony sale. And you gave him your phone number.

He wept with joy that night: I have you, I won. My love, hallelujah, I am on his knees for you every night, I press my palms together in holy palmer's kiss and say nothing but send myself to you in spirit, I ask you nothing, my love, you are all around me. My angel, my God, I am but an arduous worshiper, no more than your benevolent servant, my sweetness, my God, hallelujah, I sing in your name.

He takes you on a date, the perfect day you had discussed with your friends at length once over brunch, and he takes you home like the perfect gentleman should, and you invite him upstairs. He won't touch you, you told your friends you like when a man waits, but he does take a pair of your underwear while you're in the bathroom, and goes through your trash can.

His shrine to you grows every time you meet. The underwear of yours that he wears around his own bedroom to pass the rancorous hours without you, when he has to be without you. A ball of your hair from a brush. A ball of your used gum from wrappers around your house. A mug. A sock. Your deodorant lid. A broken nail from your bathmat. A family photo album you misplaced. The condom he used the first time you two had sex.

He had you. As his partner, his owner and his ward, his God and his worshipper, he owed his entire life and breath to you. All he wanted was your love, and he had it, so there was nothing left to take. Right? No more reason to follow you, right? He doesn't have to know where you are or what you're doing or who you're with every second of the night, right? He doesn't have to call you every ten minutes to be sure, and show up to find out if you're lying, right? He does everything for you. Cooks for you, cleans for you, bathes you, dresses you, takes care of you. It'll be easier for you to just stay with him, at home, don't you think? What's so good about the outside world anyways?

hello ok so i saw your recent ex-morning posts and like i watched sotus but i have No Idea what's going on at the moment. f it's not too much effort can you explain why the ex-morning stuff is so, i dunno how to say it, noteworthy, i guess? like just what's up maybe?

Tl;dr: The Ex-Morning is GMMTV's literal RPF with the serial numbers filed off, starring the actors from said RPF.

i'll do my best to explain more under the cut

ok let's do this

SOTUS and KristSingto were some of the biggest cash cows GMMTV has ever had. I would argue that the success of SOTUS in 2016 is the main reason we have a BL renaissance today.

Krist and Singto have not acted together since 2018. Until recently, it was assumed that they would never be paired up again.

There were rumors that they had a falling out, which supposedly explained why they stopped acting together. Mostly speculation, but who knows.

Krist made a poor taste comment a while back that led to him being somewhat "cancelled" for a few years. He only started dipping his toes back into BL last year.

Singto, on the other hand, never stopped acting in BLs and has had at least 6 on-screen male acting partners since then (maybe more if you count his one-sided crushes on Mike and Lee Thanat in Baker Boys, or whatever the hell was going on in Shadow). This is very notable, since the BL business model tends to keep acting pairs in the same "ship" for years at a time.

Acting pairs almost never "get back together" after getting a new male acting partner. The literal only exception I can think of is when Tay Tawan acted with Joss Wayar in 3 Will Be Free and then continued to act with New in DBK/Cherry Magic.

Despite everything, KristSingto is still extremely popular among fans to this day and is still one of the most popular "ships" of all time.

When Singto's schedule opened up, GMMTV finally got the opportunity to profit off of it again -- in the most intentional and transparent way possible.

The plot of The Ex-Morning -- exes reuniting and falling for each other again -- mirrors the careers and relationship of Singto and Krist. The fact that Krist's character has a publicity blunder and has to restore his reputation is even more fuel for the fire.

The director for The Ex-Morning is the same director who made SOTUS

The flashback in The Ex-Morning shows Krist and Singto with their signature iced coffee and pink milk, which intentionally calls back to their characters in SOTUS.

P'Aof, who is said to be writing some of the screenplay for The Ex-Morning, said that he wrote it to match Krist and Singto's relationship. This story was tailor made for them.

Conclusion: GMMTV is going for the SOTUS / KristSingto cash grab by essentially having Aof write some kind of amalgamation of KristSingto RPF and SOTUS post-canon future fic.

Do I know that it's a blatant cash grab? Yes. Will I will be watching it anyway because it looks low-key good in its own right? Also yes.

Okay I have some more comprehensive thoughts about Rapport now that I've slept on it...

- first thought is ART is a bit fucking scary!! I find it so fascinating how the difference in perspective to a third person/NOT MB (who can give a lot of insider information as another MI) lets us really see from a human perspective what Peri can do. Its ability to manipulate conversation and emotion is VERY advanced and the type of skynet shit I love because it's unsettling. Uncanny if you will.

I think the reason I've never gotten that feeling about Peri/ART before is partly because MB doesn't really care for or notice the intricacies of human interactions to the same degree. So its narration either wouldn't pick up on or wouldn't comment on ARTs practically dancing through human social cues to get its way. And partly of course because this spaceship is PINING and acting a fool about it.

- This brings me to observation #2 which is holy shit dude this spaceship is down so bad..."I met someone who taught me about trauma" and designing the deflector vests and learning about system infiltration and the drones and and and!!! Love as change and blah blah blah but it's so special to me their explicitly ace/qpr adjacent relationship being seen as so formative and important from both sides.

- IRIS. Iris is like the equivalent of a lion tamer for the giant eerily capable force that is also her sibling. If she was not there are Martyn and Seth equally capable of cutting through Peri's bullshit and seeing its emotions? If not I feel the relationship it would have with the crew overall would be less familiar and trusting. This novelette did an amazing job making me understand why she is Peri's favorite and why their relationship is so special. She is incredibly talented at infiltration and manipulation and it's clear she and Peri have developed that skill together. Girl is sharp as a tack and I appreciate her more than ever!

- Martha Wells the author that you are. I am consistently amazed by the humanity she can bring to very inhuman concepts and this shows she can also do the opposite. We got to see so much more of interpersonal interactions between the Perihelion crew members that are usually glossed over (MB doesn't particularly care to describe them I fear). I am impressed with how concisely and neatly she managed to convey this information in such a different POV than most of the series and how well it fits with the information we already have. Hats off to her fr

Your eyes open slowly, feeling the loss of the pistol in contact with your chin and the Spanish man's body drop onto the floor lifelessly, his blood pooling out of his head. A shot wound pierced into his skull.

You look up and see Thomas lowering his gun, staring at you, noticing your beautiful wedding outfit now covered in blood - specifically Spanish blood. His brothers walk around, staring at the dead bodies and towards you, eyes widened, in utter shock as they didn't believe you were such a strong, fierce woman.

“Bloody hell...” John mutters as he looks at the spiritless bodies pooled onto the clean, elegant carpet of the Arrow House.

Arthurs mutters curses as he bends down, checking if the men were all dead.

“Are you alright?” Tommy holds your forearms protectively, looking you up and down, inspecting for any other injuries, apart from the few cuts and bruises on your face - which can heal in a few days.

“I'm fine.” you mutter out.

“Jesus darlin’,” Arthur speaks up as he grabs onto one of the dead men, “Didn’t know you were capable of such shit.”

You look over towards the eldest Shelby brother, who’s smirking towards the dead man, highly amused of your shocking ability.

“Mr. Shelby, sir, Mrs. Shelby's uncle has been knocked out in the kitchen.” all four of your heads snap towards one of the maids, your eyes growing in shock. Your uncle isn't the type to loose a fight - let alone be beaten up.

“Father?” your younger female cousin mutters out urgently, whilst your older male cousin slaps the older man's face lightly, in attempt to get him to gain conciseness. Your uncle sits on the sofa. There's cuts and bruises decorating his face. A slash going from his left cheekbone to his lip and a back eye lays on his right eye. His thumb has been bent back, leading to it being fractured and a minor gun shot wound pierced into his lower abdomen - which has been attended to by your aunt. You stand behind your two cousins, arms folded. Most your family and most your in-laws stand around the office, the party still continuing, you can hear the jazz music echoing the halls, and the guests wondering where the two families have gone.

A few minutes pass, your uncle regains conciseness. His eyes open and everyone’s gaze snaps towards him. “Father!” your older male cousin yells, going onto his knees in-front of his father, next to his younger sister and his wife holding their two year old son and their four year old daughter standing beside her, hand in hers, standing behind him.

Your uncle groans out and his gaze goes straight towards you, noticing how your beautiful wedding attire has gotten stained with blood and how a couple of light cuts adorn your face. “You should have told me the second you saw them, y/n l/n.” he speaks out in a weak, stern tone, seeming to scold you as he attempts to get up.

You scoff in return.

“Honey, no. You’re hurt.” your aunt begins, her hands pushing him down by his shoulders. You stare at the two older couple, arms still folded, “This is no time for both your endless quarrels.”

“They’ve been dealt with, Mr. l/n.” Your husband speaks up, who stands with his two brothers, a glass of whiskey accompanying him.

Your uncle then looks at Thomas, an unreadable expression but leans back, slowly relaxing.

“Is grandpa okay, mummy?” you hear the 4 year old girl worriedly mutter towards her mother - (older male cousin’s wife) -, who assures the young girl he’s fine.

“Can you please all be upstanding and join onto the dance floor for the newly wedded to take their first dance as husband and wife, can you please make way for Mr. and Mrs. Shelby.” the host introduces you and Thomas, who guides you onto the dance floor, as everyone makes way for you. It reminds you of how you’re now known as Mrs. Shelby, no longer Miss. l/n.

A new, fresh, clean, off-shoulder, elegant, emerald green satin dress lays on your frame, a slit traveling up your thigh. It adorns your figure.

Slow, romantic jazz music plays as Thomas places his hand onto your waist, the other holding yours in the air, as your free hand rests onto his shoulder. The crowds erupt in awe, cheering as you both take your first steps. The brummie’s grip is soft and gentle and his blue eyes stare into your (eye colour) eyes as your matching lilac heels click onto the dance floor.

“Quit staring at me as if you’re going to kill me.” you snap at him, quiet enough for only both of you to hear, clearly irritated on how he always stares at you like you’re nothing or unamusing - though the way he holds you says otherwise.

He quirks an eyebrow, a very light and subtle smirk twitching on the corner of his lips, seemingly impressed at his now-wife’s forwardness, “How’d you want me to stare at you then, aye?”

Sarcastically, you respond, both yours and his feet in rhythm to the jazz, “Obviously not as someone you want to kill.”

“That can be arranged, Mrs. Shelby.”

Those two words sounded highly foreign to you. You’ve always been known as ‘Miss. l/n’ - many already feared that last name, but now that you’re also legally a Shelby, ‘fear’ isn’t a good enough word to express how the amount of people shall feel threatened by just the mention of your name.

A few moments later, other couples, young and old, begin to join you both onto the dance floor as your feet are in rhythm with Thomas’.

Thomas then twirls you, a light smile paints your face, as much as you hated to admit, he was good. His hands handle you as if you’re an antique, one of a kind, expensive vase.

The soft jazz music slowly begins to speed up, into a more upbeat dance music. Ladies and men begin to speed up their dances, most now having drinks adoring their hands.

A couple of hours pass and the guests make their way to the dining area, getting ready for dinner after an extravagant party full of dancing and drinking.

You sit beside your husband, hands in your lap as your family, in-laws and friends take a seat, chatting amongst themselves. You glance towards the gangster, who lights a cigarette, his eyes landing onto yours, he motions if you want one, you debate and end up taking one, nonchalantly lighting it up, passing him the lighter and muttering towards him, “Thanks,”

“No worries, darling.” he says, as he exhales a long wanted smoke.

The nickname catches you off guard, your eyes widen slightly, looking at him, you swore you just saw a hint of adoration spark in his ocean blue eyes.

“Darling?”

Gruffly, he replies, “Well you are my wife now, aye? My woman.”

An amused smirk adorns your face as you look down at your lap, in attempt to hide it (which he noticed), ‘quite the womaniser’, you thought, yet you’d hate to admit it— you’re too stubborn for that— and that’s what your uncle wished to slap out of your pretty self.

As food gets served, everyone begins to dig in, you hear John’s and your younger brother’s heartfelt laughter echo the room, clearly getting along. Both families mix, warming up to each other, like two missing jigsaw pieces finally being united.

You place some potato’s onto your plate, deciding to have a well deserved meal. A glass of champagne lays next to your plate which holds your food. 2. Address your phone addiction

I fell down a rabbit hole on dopamine addiction a couple months back and I've learned a bit about it. If you want to stop overconsumption you have to stop doomscrolling.

Don't put your phone by your bed. Do not let the first thing you do in the morning be checking your notifications and scrolling.

The problem is your phone releases INSANE amounts of dopamine. It's this flashing color crack box that immediately spends all of that dopamine and because you used it first thing you need extremely dopaminergic activities or you can't focus.

Other extremely dopaminergic things include: video games, pornography, seeing people you hate attempt to bleach their hair, gambling, etc.

If you're trying to kick your phone addiction there's a couple things to remember:

You are going to get through the first day and think "I'm doing so well what's a TikTok break going to hurt" DONT FALL FOR IT. Your brain is lying to you. If you were good at moderation you wouldn't be trying to kick the addiction in the first place

It's ok to be bored. You have to accept being bored. It's good for your brain. Be bored.

Do not quit because you tripped up. The best advice I've heard for addiction is not to treat it as "I have to have an unbroken streak" this leads people to go on benders because of small slip ups because they "ruined it anyway". Instead think in percentages. You made it through 6/7 days. That's still an improvement and yes the goal is 7/7 but you are getting there if you keep your discipline.

3. How your day should look

Wake up and take a couple minutes to affirm and saturate your mind. This is basically bragging to yourself about how much you have it and it's yours. Affirm things like "oh my god I just woke up in my DR" or "Oh my god I shifted"

Do the shit you need to do. Don't put it off. Why should your life here have to stop??

Whenever you think about the things you want remind yourself that you already have it and it's yours. Think about it as if you have it. Do saturation sessions throughout the day if you want to.

Stop searching for a new method, advice, whatever, think as if you have already manifested it instead of spiralling into "I don't have it. this next post will help me have it" Do. Not. Think. About. It. As. If. You. Don't. Have. It.

Actually stick to it. Yes even if it takes longer than you want.

What you're doing wrong

What do you mean you've put your life on hold? Please do not do that. There is no reason to. If you ignore the obvious downsides to neglecting yourself and your life, you should know that isn't helping your manifestation at all either.

Right now you're suspended in a waiting state. You're entire life revolves around "I have to figure out how to do this", "I haven't done this yet so I can't focus on anything else"

What is that telling your subconscious? That it's not here and that nothing can change.

The point of LOA is to think as if it's already here. If you put everything on hold until you have it the only state you are thinking from is "it's not here". If you were thinking from the state of having it you wouldn't be doing any of that. "I can't do ____ until this manifests" you just affirmed that it hasn't manifested/you have not shifted. Not only are you frozen in the physical world but the internal one.

"I know I should give up but how" who told you to give up? I don't think you should do that. Why would you give up on something you have?

Both manifestation and shifting work the same way. You think as if you are there or that you have what you want and the physical world has to change to fit that. Has to.

These things are not your saviors. These things are not things. They are not outside of you. It is not a magical ability you need to tap into, it is something you are already doing. Your assumptions choose what your physical world looks like 24/7. It doesn't turn off that is just how you work. Your reality has ALWAYS shifted to match your mind. You aren't harnessing anything you are just realizing your own potential.

I know it sounds absurdly simple, that's because it is. You are creating your reality. Create. Sit down and think as if it's here. Bask in having it.

Do you know what the void state is? It's you. It's your consciousness. Are you consciousness ? Then you can enter. The reason you aren't experiencing it now is just because you are telling yourself that you are your body. You are not your body. You are the consciousness. Void state is just a return to self.

1) the character everyone gets wrong

Apollo.

I'm not going to pretend I have a different answer for this - just Apollo. I can perhaps name three pieces of media where Apollo is written well - not compellingly, but I mean 'well' in terms of adaptation of the greek god figure they are purporting to have gained inspiration from. If he's not written terribly, then he's erased or minimised from the narrative to the point of erasure and it can be incredibly difficult to even find educational projects that remember to make mention of Apollo in a manner that isn't mocking or chastising. (I am looking directly at you Iliad/Odyssey content. I am staring at you with every single one of my eyes.)

The sad truth is that Apollo is a hard god to adapt. And speaking from the experience of someone who's spent a not inconsiderable portion of my life studying, reading about, chasing after and writing about Apollo myself, I mean it with all my heart when I say that I understand that he is an incredibly difficult figure to adapt and write. In general the gods are hard to adapt but there's a reason people usually fall back on the accepted Thing they can all be defined by. Zeus is king, Hera is queen, Ares fights, Artemis hunts, Hermes travels swiftly.

Apollo then presents a really difficult dilemma for people looking to adapt him - what is his Thing? What is his single unifying aspect that allows him to perform all of his other roles? Apollo doesn't have one. He's a musician and a prophet and an archer in equal measure. He's a healer and a slaughterer, a son who is also a father. He's pretty like a woman but he is one of the ideals of masculine beauty, as gentle as he is capable of horrifying acts of wrath.

To adapt Apollo in any meaningful way is to acknowledge the plurality of the ancient world. It is to discard the idea of neat little boxes with cute, concise labels that perfectly describe one's ideas of history and to confront that culture is a shifting, chaotic thing and that the modern, trope based process for writing and cataloguing characters is completely arbitrary and ill-suited for weaving stories of figures older than even the concept of tropes.

This is the reason, I think, that so many writers end up defaulting to the figure of Apollo the lover. And like, truthfully speaking, ON PAPER, the lover is a very good compromise for him. The lover is almost always young and intersects neatly with the bard as music is often a medium of love, it also connects with archery, beauty and gentleness. Similarly, the lover can also be negative - a poisoned beauty whose love stems from selfishness and therefore who cannot truly love without hurting. As far as compromises go - it's not bad.

But it ignores so many other facets and elements that make Apollo Apollo - his intelligence and the fear he inspires, his identity as a brother, father and son, his martial and medical prowess, the trust that comes with the love people have for him, the weight of the responsibilities he carries.

I totally get that it's unreasonable for me to expect people to put this much effort into adapting him - especially since, quite frankly, a lot of people are quite set on him being eternally locked in that position as A Lover - but I do wish people would care. There is a reason Apollo is considered the most Greek of the gods. I wish more people cared to understand why.

10) worst part of fanon

Massively unpopular opinion, but I think the worst part of fanon is the aggressive villainisation of Zephyrus.

Do I think Zephyrus wasn't insane for braining Hyacinthus? No! Definitely hold him accountable for that, my god beat his ass. But do I think that it's a little ridiculous that people treat him like he's an irredeemable asshole who would've been an abusive horrible lover to Hyacinthus and who's a creep and a general menace? YES OH MY GOD

Zephyrus has shit he does outside of Hyacinthus' story - Zephyrus was actually considered the gentlest wind and more importantly, the spring wind. It is Zephyrus who accompanies Persephone as she makes her journey from the edge of the Underworld back to her mother's home, and it was Zephyrus who protected and gently carried Psyche to and from Eros' manor. Zephyrus and Apollo are literally friends!! They BOTH have the same taste in men (clearly) and Zephyrus, like Apollo, is a noted and recorded appreciator of young, beautiful men and usually pays them a bit of extra wind across their cheeks to bring out the colour.

Y'all act like he's a supervillain who planned Hyacinthus' death in a basement with creepy music playing like goddamn, he was a sore loser, he fucked up, Apollo beat his ass and Hyacinthus is revived in the end. Leave him alone, my god.

21) Part of canon you think is overhyped

The Titanomachy.

Not because I think the Titanomachy is uninteresting - on the contrary, I think it is an AGGRESSIVELY interesting set of events - but because I just kind of think so many other things are more interesting.

HEAR ME OUT RIGHT -- I was like, physically repulsed by the idea initially because what the fuck even, but it was something that kept coming up over and over as I was doing research for my writing and eventually, I ended up caving, writing the two of them interacting with each other during their Argo days and that was it.

But honestly? I can't even be mad cause?? It kind of fucks??? Heracles himself really enjoys music but never had the delicacy it required (he literally murdered his lyre instructor because he was disciplining him) and Heracles loses Hylas on the Argo and grieves him bitterly. Orpheus loved his Eurydice but she died not long after they were married after being bitten by a snake. Both of them make journeys to the Underworld - Heracles to retrieve Cerberus and free Prometheus, Orpheus to retrieve Eurydice - and both of them return from the Underworld to great misfortune. Orpheus swears off women and dies being torn apart limb from limb by the Maenads, Heracles tries to marry and is poisoned horribly, tearing off parts of his own skin and eventually throwing himself onto his funeral pyre to rid himself of the pain.

Connell's gender order theory, which recognizes multiple masculinities that vary across time, society, culture, and the individual.[1][2][3] Hegemonic masculinity is defined as a practice that legitimizes men's dominant position in society and justifies the subordination of the common male population and women, and other marginalized ways of being a man.[1][4] Conceptually, hegemonic masculinity proposes to explain how and why men maintain dominant social roles over women, and other gender identities, which are perceived as "feminine" in a given society.[1]

The conceptual beginnings of hegemonic masculinity represented the culturally idealized form of manhood that was socially and hierarchically exclusive and concerned with bread-winning; that was anxiety-provoking and differentiated (internally and hierarchically); that was brutal and violent, pseudo-natural and tough, psychologically contradictory, and thus crisis-prone; economically rich and socially sustained.[5] However, many sociologists criticized that definition of hegemonic masculinity as a fixed character-type, which is analytically limited, because it excludes the complexity of different, and competing, forms of masculinity.[1][3] Consequently, hegemonic masculinity was reformulated to include gender hierarchy, the geography of masculine configurations, the processes of social embodiment, and the psycho-social dynamics of the varieties of masculinity.

Proponents of the concept of hegemonic masculinity argue that it is conceptually useful for understanding gender relations, and is applicable to life-span development, education, criminology, the representations of masculinity in the mass communications media, the health of men and women, and the functional structure of organizations.[3] Critics argue that hegemonic masculinity is heteronormative, is not self-reproducing, ignores positive aspects of masculinity, relies on a flawed underlying concept of masculinity, or is too ambiguous to have practical application.

Psychology of Men & Masculinities (originally Psychology of Men & Masculinity) is a peer-reviewed academic journal published by the American Psychological Association on behalf of Division 51. The journal was established in 2000 and covers research on "how boys' and men's psychology is influenced and shaped by both gender and sex, and encompasses the study of the social construction of gender, sex differences and similarities, and biological processes.”

Patriarchy is a social system in which positions of authority are primarily held by men. The term patriarchy is used both in anthropology to describe a family or clan controlled by the father or eldest male or group of males, and in feminist theory to describe a broader social structure in which men as a group dominate society.[1][2][3]

Sociobiologists compare human gender roles to sexed behavior in other primates and argue that gender inequality originates from genetic and reproductive differences between men and women. Patriarchal ideology explains and rationalizes patriarchy by attributing gender inequality to inherent natural differences between men and women, divine commandment, or other fixed structures.[4] Social constructionists sociologists tend to disagree with biological explanations of patriarchy and contend that socialization processes are primarily responsible for establishing gender roles[5], they further argue that gender roles and gender inequity are instruments of power and have become social norms to maintain control over women.

Historically, patriarchy has manifested itself in the social, legal, political, religious, and economic organization of a range of different cultures.[6] Most contemporary societies are, in practice, patriarchal, unless the criteria of complete exclusion of women in authority is applied.[7][8]

Being the Silvermane Captain, he had a reputation to keep up and a demeanor to maintain. However, that all changed when he spotted you in his peripheral vision.

You, the leading officer of Belobog’s Judiciary department and first person to ever achieve such a high role next to the Supreme Guardian — in such a short period of time — encaptured the attention of the entire nation. After the fall of the former Supreme Guardian, Cocolia, Bronya took the lead and appointed you to be part of the nation’s main officers. Unfortunately for Gepard, he could only stay in the shadow of your fame, washed out as he continued his daily duties. He was satisfied with his achievements, and he was pleased to be in the role he worked for; he had worked that hard for it anyway. Though, a pang of jealousy reeked within him. Gepard was a slight perfectionist and an obvious hard worker, and the notion of a formidable coworker that rose up the ranks faster than he ever did plagued his mind feverishly. Was he doing something wrong? Surely not. But, his overthinking did more than just be lingering, negative, and obsessive thoughts — you enchanted him. And he surely didn’t expect his legs to be moving on their own toward your figure.

With a stack of files in your right hand, you discussed the further construction of transportation between the Overworld and Underworld with Bronya. The subtle change within the air blew through Qlipoth as Gepard made his way towards you in striding steps. Heavy armour clanked against the cool tiles of the office as he closed the gap between the two of you. A gulp made its way to your throat.

“Excuse me, may I have a word?” he inquired, a twitch in his eyebrow motioned towards the hallway. It was a bit skeptical that a Silvermane Guard spoke to you, and you immediately thought if anything went wrong on the front lines. You gave Bronya a soft smile and a nod, then placed your attention on the male in front.

“I can spare some time, lead the way officer.”

The hallway was dead compared to the bustle of the main street. You peered at the Everwinter Monument that stood tall in the middle of the busy area, glistening in the light.

You cleared your throat. “Well, if you could state the meaning of my appearance here, that would be lovely,” you questioned and matched your eyes with the light blue ones ahead of you. Gepard played with his fingertips before speaking.

“Ahh yes. Well, I was just thinking if the Supreme Guardian has any means of… Letting my rank falter. It seems that my usual capabilities to serve her aren’t the same as they used to be rather— too easy? Might I add,” Gepard replied, tone drifting off in thought. You pondered the fact if Bronya truly felt the need to let him go. Before you got placed in the high-ranking position, Gepard handled the job in a concise and efficient manner. Needless to say, he should’ve been the one in your shoes and you felt a wave of anxiety rush through your body.

You’ve admired his work ethic; his perseverance to keep going forth and setting his goals straight. It’s no wonder as to why he gained such a fanbase and large amount of support — and not to mention, him being your role model towards this job in the first place. Dampness secreted from your palms as you hastily wiped it down onto your sleeves, you crossed your arms together and eyed Gepard.

“I believe not, Mr. Landau,” you continued, “the Supreme Guardian wouldn’t let her most reputable and reliable guard to be put to waste.”

His eyebrows subtly moved upwards at your words, seemingly soothed the worries from his mind.

“I am honoured to hear that,” he replied, relief gracing his tongue.

“And no need for formalities, I am younger than you by a year. Plus, position hierarchy doesn’t apply much to me when it comes to you.”

A joyous chuckle left his lips. “Well then, care to explain?”

“I envy you, Mr. Landau, you should be the one in my position at this point,” you teased and a smile appeared on your face. Gepard noticed and coughed slightly into the side of his wrist, a hue of a faint pink dusted his cheekbones.

“I may have a proposal to solve both of our issues—” you sauntered and fiddled with the ends of your garments, “—if you are up to it, that is.”

A curious gaze befell on his face as he matched the stature of your body.

“Go on.”

An affirmative hum left your lips. “It is not that I dislike my job, I thoroughly enjoy my work. However, the chances of gaining a favourable vacation are out of my reach currently… One that I should have been granted beforehand. The workload I have been assigned isn’t fit for just one person— and I could easily finish it, but I need some time to regain my mental stability back.”

Right. With newcomers sweeping Qlipoth from the Underworld to seek higher-ranked careers, the remaining individuals received a lessened workload compared to the rest. It was a plausible explanation as to why the guards hasn't done their duties as often as before. Gepard dazed into the comforting afternoon sun that draped down Belobog, the bluebells dancing within the air caught his attention.

His stare lingered onto the flowers as he spoke, “so all you are requesting is for settled time off? And to grant that, you must finish the remaining workload you currently have now? Do correct me if I am wrong.”

“Yes, that is correct,” you replied, following his gaze to the flower shop just below the window.

“I’ll grant you that request.”

You whiplashed your head to face him straight on.

“That quickly? I do not mind waiting for a proper answer—“ Gepard stopped you and let out a breathy chuckle.

“That proposal does indeed solve both of our issues... You need time off while I need some more time on," he agreed with a small smile gracing his face. "May I ask one more request on my side?"

You nodded your head curtly and watched him angle towards you, the orange hue from the setting sun basked Gepard in a warm, heavenly aura compared to the iciness of the horrific snowstorms in the distance. Never once had a man bestowed such an ethereal appearance on you, but looking at Gepard in such a quiet and intimate state caused a thump in your heart.

"Allow me to take you on a date once you have been granted some free time, think of it as a 'please' and a 'thank you.'"

Hi! I saw your answer to the question about "Anarchist leadership" and had a followup question. My concept of leadership has been that the practical function of the role itself is how you described a "coordinator," and that the difficulties which anarchism seeks to address arise when team coordination gives way to that individual abusing the opportunity of coordination to divide labor unequally (IE less to themself) or ignore input on how work is done, by whom, or when. To put it simply, my idea has been that the difference between a "leader" and a "boss" is, at extremes, that a leader takes on as much work (or more) as the rest of the group and considers every opinion in the group before making a final decision, while a boss accepts no input and does no work beyond coordination.

My first question is this: When a group is doing work collaboratively, how does an anarchist structure address the potential roadblock of deliberation? If every member is required to provide consensus on a decision affecting the group, what is the method for decision-making when consensus can't be reached? The only option I know of is an individual whose job is making a final decision in a case where one or more individuals refuse to agree with the majority, which is undeniably an authoritarian structure, but are there alternatives that can effectively limit deliberation when there is only so much time available? In short, what is the anarchist method of making a concise decision on something that affects every individual present?

My second question is this: If an individual's responsibility is coordination, or even being the "final say" in deliberation (assuming there is no other option), what is the alternative to rotation of responsibility if there are no other individuals capable of accomplishing that? I recognize that rotation of responsibility is an effective way to avoid one individual being placed in a position where their coordination becomes critical to the function of the group, but there are scenarios where nobody else in the group has the capacity to organize and coordinate and one can't be provided. How does one avoid a power structure when only one person is capable of coordinating?

I also have a followup about how anarchism addresses human vanity & pettiness in both of these cases, but I can save that so you don't have to answer too much in one post. Thanks in advance!

I'm going to start with the simple part: what you describe as the difference between a leader and a boss is, in effect, the difference between a boss and a lazy boss. The authority is exactly the same. The worst bosses I've worked for were willing to work very very hard, they were still my boss and the fact that they worked hard changed nothing about that relationship. A person that has the power to hire and fire others is a boss. If a person can decide that I should no longer have a stable income, I am at their mercy. They are my boss and no hard work or cool attitude can change that.

As for forming consensus: if consensus can not be reached it means a decision that works for everybody can not be reached and to those committed to consensus it is vital to keep working, keep talking, go over all the possibilities, pros and cons, and unorthodox alternatives again until a consensus is reached. This book probably addresses a lot of your follow up questions. A vital thing to understand before you get started is that in order for consensus to work, there has to be:

No leader ad a commitment to dismantle power dynamics. Not just the pretense that there isn't a power dynamic. It has to be real. There can't be anyone with a 'final say', that's just authority with extra steps. A person with the power to have a 'final say' is a boss. There's no anarchism there. None.

An agreement by all participants to work by consensus.

Time and patience.

When people have spend most of their life not living with consensus, they will come in with attitudes that don't fit a consensus process. They will see the goal as 'reaching the decision that I already know we need to make' instead of seriously considering alternatives that others bring to the table. They will try to gain a majority for their plan instead of working with everyone in the group. They will try to get their way by blocking every alternative. It takes time, practice and experiencing the benefits of a consensus process for that attitude to change.

Explain the jf2 blackrock lore dump to me like I'm five please

So the JF2 Blackrock lore is really fun, but it is mostly reading between the lines/fun to mess around with when looking at newer Blackrock theories, so keep that in mind! As always I am physically unable to be concise, so the actual explanation is under the cut since I tried to be as thorough as possible. lmk if you have any follow-up questions/want to know more about any idea/reading of what happened!

Context for the Episode:

Early in JF2, most lore moments were related to the arrival of rockets from Jaffa HQ. In episode 27, a purple rocket arrives with polished blackstone brights, a red mushroom, an audio log, and a compass.

The audio log is of Rythian and says as follows

“I need to find a gift for my… Friend. Tried to figure out ahead of time what they wanted, but actually I just asked her. Easier that way. She wants a ‘Black Lotus flower’. Don’t actually know what she wants it for. It’s a powerful component in many magical compositions, but for all I know she just wants to put it in her hair. If you follow this compass, you should be able to retrieve it. Return it via the warp plate. Now, I should warn you. It’s a long journey, so I recommend preparing for it with proper equipment, and the like. I’ve been told the Black Lotus is guarded by the strongest warriors in the land. If this is beyond your strength and capabilities then, so be it. There’s no shame in recognising when the enemy is at an advantage and finding a different way to accomplish your goals. Good luck and, ah, thank you.”

What it Means ™:

The blackstone bricks and red mushroom heavily imply that this is specifically Blackrock Chronicles Rythian (and not a new version or clone or something). We don’t have a lot of information on when JF2 takes place in the timeline and with it still being too early to know if Kirbycraft Dawnlight (DL) is canon to the main timeline, this lore drop is fodder for theorizing. In my opinion, every major way you can interpret this is really interesting so I am going to rapid fire through some of the options. If you want to know more about any one of these ideas/possibilities, I would be happy to explain more!

DL is canon and the message was recorded in the short period between the end of Blackrock and the beginning of DL

 This takes place between the last episode of blackrock and defeating the Enderdragon (DL canon status irrelevant)

This isn’t actually Rythian/Blackrock Rythian and is instead some yoglabs shenanigans

What most people tend to be excited about are the following:

Just getting a tiny glimpse that Rythian/Zoey are happy/living their best life after the last episode of Blackrock. That and the implications for Rythian’s relationship with Lalna are really interesting because we technically have no idea if he knew he was asking the JF2 crew since he doesn’t address anyone specifically. 

If he does know who he is asking then it is a really big step because he has found some level of peace with the destruction of the old world/the nukes under Blackrock, and he is at a place where he is willing to reach out to Lalna again - not yet a friendship, but reestablishing communications is a big first step to mending that relationship.

If he doesn’t know who he is asking, then it that raises a lot of questions about the rocket/how he got one/if that was the original way the message was intended to be delivered or something that happened later (like a convoluted mail forwarding system almost). This could lead to the yoglabs theory.

Either way if he made the rocket himself, that also shows that he is not just helping Zoey with science when it involves her arm, but that he is also branching back out into science for his own goals - another really big character moment because it means that (to a degree) he is continuing to heal from his past traumas and not let them control his current actions.

The last main thing I have seen people get excited about is Lalna’s reaction to the recording. Out of the (then) main three, he was the one who was actively trying to play the record/listen to it.

As far as content of the message there are a few things that stick out to me:

“I need to find a gift for my… Friend.” Either he and Zoey still haven’t figured things out yet (funny) or he is hiding the fact that they are in a relationship from the gang even though everyone definitely already thinks they are in a relationship (also funny).

“It’s a powerful component in many magical compositions, but for all I know she just wants to put it in her hair.” That Rythian is willing to get this even knowing that Zoey might just want it for the aesthetics and not to grow it/use it for any of its magical purposes shows that post series Rythian continued the trend of being down for whatever adventures Zoey desires because he likes to see her happy. This is also interesting because he is asking for help not because he is in desperate need of help, but for some other reason (likely he is busy or cannot for one reason or another do it himself). If he knows he is asking Lalna (along others) then that also is a significant thing for their relationship and shows a level of comfortability with him that was only really present in the Old World which is really cool!

“I’ve been told the Black Lotus is guarded by the strongest warriors in the land.” Zoey was almost certainly the one who told Rythian this and initially it seemed like just a bit since the ribbits aren’t aggressive, but with the whole ribbit plotline, there is potentially something there. It is still likely an exaggeration, but there might be a connection between the ribbits and the twilight realm/post series Zoey.

“There’s no shame in recognizing when the enemy is at an advantage and finding a different way to accomplish your goals.” Since the ribbits weren’t hostile, this then reflects more on Rythian and his mindset than the task at hand which is interesting. Although he always ended up avoiding revenge, he would previously at least pretend to others/to himself that he had a one track mind/that he was focused in on the clear path of revenge. This, however, shows that beyond abandoning revenge, his perspective has shifted to a much more dynamic viewpoint. This also helps indicate his healing but also potentially reflects on some challenge he is dealing with (potentially in the runup to DL if it is canon, but it could be any number of things if not).

Do you have any advice for those who want to post their stories and ideas on here but are just starting out

Not sure if I'm the best person to offer advice on these matters, as I feel my presence here has been mostly accidental. That being said, I am capable of introspection and I've been here long enough to notice patterns, so I can gladly share my own observations with you! Feel free to draw your own conclusions. Everyone else is invited to offer corrections or additions. :)

What to post

The million-dollar question. Do you want to share original stories, or fanfiction? Various genres, or reader centered romances? You have the choice to try your luck and dive in with your own thing or scour the market to build a following first.

I've seen trending original stories from accounts who'd just started out, but don't use that as a reference for the quality of your own work. If you're not gaining traction, it doesn't automatically mean it's bad. There are hundreds of variables involved: the time, the context, the people. It takes one big blog to discover your story and share it, and you've taken your first step into recognition. The main issue is, there's no guarantee when or if it's going to happen.

Your other choice is to introduce yourself with fanfiction. Consider it a way of saying “let me show you my writing skills through something of your interest”. If you've been wanting to write fanfiction from the beginning, great! Now comes the next question: what is your goal? If you want more recognition, you'll want to consider the fandoms. Is there something you're into that's currently also trending on Tumblr? Writing for Hazbin Hotel, for example, will most likely get you more notes than writing for some 90s manga very few people know about. At the end of the day, you shouldn't feel pressured to write for what's "selling", but you can always find a compromise that works for you. Once you gain more followers, you can always sprinkle in more variety. Having more people who appreciate your work will give you a little boost when venturing into other areas.

I'll give you my personal case: I decided to share my Baki story right at the time a new season was out. It just so happened that many other people were interested in said character. "I only watched two episodes and immediately searched for fics", or "I saw an edit and now I'm here". So, there were people actively keeping tab on recent works for more content, and one of the relevant blogs in the fandom shared my content as well. That got the ball rolling. I've always been a multi-fandom blog, and thus with more visitors came more diverse requests. "Wait a minute, I came for X, but I see you like Y, too!"

TL;DR: If you're interested in original work or lesser known fandoms but want recognition, try to expand into trending and popular fandoms to gain visibility.

How to post

Is there a specific template you must adhere to? Absolutely not. However, I've noticed many common elements from people sharing their stories. There are authors who will dive right into the story, no title, no descriptions, but they already have followers who know what to expect. If you're just starting out, you might want to offer a helping hand to people who don't know you yet. Have a concise, clear title. Make it obvious from the beginning what your story is about. You can include trigger warnings or content previews. Maybe a little synopsis or two-three sentences to summarize everything. I've seen some blogs mention that their shorter stories get more interaction (1-2k words), so this might be something to consider. If you would prefer going for longer works, perhaps it's wise to give everyone a heads-up and include the word count at the beginning. If you want to encourage people to check out your other works, you can include a link to your masterlist at the top of the post.

Regardless of appearances, once your content is written, it needs to be tagged. Which brings us to the next topic:

This truly isn't meant to call anyone out, just something I noticed. Many people don't know how to use the hashtag feature.

Let me give you a fabricated example: you just published your best fanfiction so far. The magnum opus of your work. Time passes, and you barely get any notes. You tagged the post with #fanfic (because it's fanfiction, right?), #writers of tumblr (to notify other writers of your presence), and #series name. It's not bad by any means, but these are extremely generic hashtags. If your only anchor for the post is, say, #Harry Potter, it will be immediately drowned by the massive influx of various content under this tag: memes, fanart, discussions, screenshots. Everything meets here. If your story is a reader insert, your target is not only the overall fandom, but specifically the people looking for this type of story. Which characters are featured? Is it more of a fluffy romance, or downright smut? Is your original character a monster? If so, what kind? You have to help people find your content. If you're not sure what tags to include, use other blogs as reference. Find stories similar to yours and check the top posts. What other tags did the author use? Is there a common pattern among these popular stories?

TD;DR: Make your posts clear and obvious within the first few lines. Overly general or overly specific tags are not bad, but they shouldn't be your only identifying features. Make it very easy for people to navigate your blog (masterlists, consistent hashtag system, etc)

When to post

At one point I asked myself, out of curiosity, why some of my own posts are more popular than others despite the same amount of effort. Is there a difference depending on when you release your content? The answer is yes! There's an article discussing the best times to post on social media in order to maximize engagement. Of course, there's many variables involved, and these time intervals are not a guarantee. When are your followers most active? When do you notice a peak in notifications? Have a look at this neat desktop feature. It gives you all the answers you need. If your engagement is the highest at a given hour, it might be worth a shot to post your content then. You can also schedule your posts to match the patterns.

Let's say you posted something, and you suspect it hasn't reached all of your followers. Maybe it was a slow day, and it got less engagement than usual. I've seen people who reblog their own content the next day or even regularly, so you can opt for that if you're worried you missed out.

Additionally, Tumblr seems to reward activity. You may post as often or as little as you'd like, as long as you maintain a certain regularity. If you search for top posts/blogs of all time, you'll notice it's not actually an all-time chart, but only the content with recent engagement. A post with a million notes that hasn't been touched in 5 years won't show up. Same for blogs. The recommendations you see are of accounts who frequently post under the given hashtag. This is something to keep in mind as well.

Lastly, if you're willing/are extroverted enough, you can always try to network and build a group of mutuals. Reblog, leave comments, reach out to people within the fandom or who do the same thing. When a post is fresh, it may be temporarily bumped to the top of the search if it receives a burst of engagement. So, it definitely helps to have a bunch of friends who give you a little boost.

Yeah. This is what I have. It's not a matter-of-fact textbook, just what I personally witnessed or my own inferences. The most important detail is to give yourself time, and of course to have fun! I wish you the best of luck, and don’t forget that your ideas are worthy regardless of the outcome.

Bumori Cail Quick Start Guide

Note: This is an unrecorded/non-canon Prince I worship. You're not gonna find them in canon.

A guide for beginning with Bumori Cail, intended to help you begin your practice. I highly suggest asking the Prince in question or Hermaeus Mora for more information before beginning a relationship proper.

Keep in mind this whole post is UPG, based on my personal experiences with this entity. It may directly contrast the experiences of others. I am no authority on these Princes, so while I am open to questions, I shouldn't have my voice put above others and especially not the Prince in question.

BUMORI CAIL

( boo-more-ee cail ) (cail is like pail, but with a cuh sound) aka. Bumorz ◦ Cail prns. it / ze ( ze / zym / zeyr / zeyrs / zymself ) domain. Cullslaire date. December 23rd

Bumori Cail is the Daedric Prince of Death, Rebirth, and Magick. It rules over magicians and the dead, being a haven for both. It also claims ownership of the stars to a degree, mostly of the constellations in the sky.

Bumorz has a rough and tough personality, being quite calloused. It would not describe Itself as caring or soft, and acts like a tough-love, but still genuine love, teacher. Ze will not abuse followers, or generally treat them with cruelty, as It means well for followers, but It can be quite harsh. 

Working alongside Cail is a sometimes harsh affair, with many tests and tribulations for followers to test their strength and capabilities. It guides well, being clear and concise, with a good understanding of Zeyr followers and what they need and are capable of, and never oversteps these.

Bumori Cail is a difficult Prince to begin the Daedric Path with, due to a very rough and calloused personality. It can be hard to get to know and begin worship of, and the tests and tribulations can be hard to adjust to out of nowhere if you’re not already used to the Daedric Path.

🝊 identity . . .

Bumori Cail has a rough personality, deeply calloused. Ze is harsh and tough. It is just generally more aligned to be serious, more rough and tough. 

However, Cail never really directs this towards followers very much. It's still very obvious, but followers are safe and won't be harmed or hurt by Cail, not on purpose anyways.

Ze typically presents Itself as a tall AMAB individual, with long, flowing black hair that reaches the small of the back. Ze has bright golden eyes. Ze presents as clean-shaven.

It is usually seen dressed formally and cleanly, well groomed and neat. Sometimes, the scent of cologne follows Zym.

Cail has a deep, rough voice. It speaks cleanly and clearly, putting thought behind every single word. There is a monotonous twang in it, though it isn't completely monotonous.

Cullslaire (culls-lair) is Bumori Cail's domain and realm, where Ze lives and thrives.

It's a mostly wasteland, with Lymix City being a giant oasis full of fauna and flora. The city is quite large, providing everything that any visitor or resident would require.

⛮ working with . . .

Bumori Cail is a difficult thing, because of all the trials and tests that Ze puts followers through. However, It can be a freeing Prince, who understands Zeyr followers very well and their limitations and needs. It makes followers strong and powerful.

Benefits are that Ze helps a lot with magic and casting, being present during the spells that followers are performing.

Slighting Cail is not an easy thing to do, but Ze is vicious and harsh when enraged or deeply slighted. 

It can be mended with a proper apology and offering.
