I am still so passionately and genuinly baffled and annoyed by the Minecraft Movie.

Yes I have played Minecraft since 2011 and love the game and what I can see from the trailers it looks like an adaptation that I cannot see myself enjoying

But above that. It is infuriating to see yet again a movie that clearly displays the movie industry's worst practices regarding animation.

A Minecraft Movie is an animated movie. It is not Live Action just because it features human actors and it is stylized to accomplish a hyperrealistic look. To achieve its visual identity it is solely dependent on computer-generated images. A team of humans has to use their technical knowledge in design and animation to create this world while using digital tools. This movie is dependent on artist. This movie depends on animation to exist.

Perhaps not the same set of abilities and requirements needed to produce a 2d animated movie or a 3d animated movie or a stop motion animated movie. Each technique is vastly different. But it still demands a team of animators and a team of VFX artists.

Animators and artists that are being exploited by big studios. Studios that refuse to allocate money to other departments because is cheaper to underpay this artist that have to work in bad conditions and are being rushed to finish a movie to jump to the next one.

It is cheaper for studios to decide that all animated movies should be Hyperrealistic CGI because you can exploit these houses to make “Live-action” movies and also go and use their services for every other blockbuster movie. Like that, there is no need to deal with the pesky 2d animators demanding fair pay and their union. That way there is no need to pay those animators looking to make mixed-technique animated movies. Why would studios waste their money paying studios worth of artists with different focuses and technical abilities if they can strip it all down to all be Hyperrealistic CGI done by the three same underpaid and overworked CGI and VFX studios? They make money do they not? Why stop? It is simply good business for Hollywood to stamp out variety and risk from the products they create. It is cheaper to destroy the livelihood of thousands to focus on exploiting a few that can "make the work of all the other thousand people they fired" I am salty yes. A Minecraft Movie does not appeal to me visually, doubt it will have a story that interests me, it doesn't follow Minecraft lore, and as a fan of the game, I just think there were many other ways to do it better. But above all, it angers me because it is the latest installment that showcases how devoided of care and respect the industry is for the artists it needs to survive.

So, I just finished watching the Starving Games. Which- for those that don't know is a very elaborate Hunger Games parody from 2013 which honestly? I found HILARIOUS (despite honestly dumb humor and also kinda dated jokes at times)

I just finished my first playthrough of Metal Gear Solid. It was mostly blind (except for some pop-culture osmosis) and on normal difficulty. I wrote down a lot of my thoughts and live reactions because I thought it might be fun to read through. So have fun doing that if you want to:

-I really like that you have to watch the briefing through an extra menu option before hitting start. Just adds too the vibe

-50 Huskies. Genuinly why haven't I heard of that before?

-The controls are definitly something. I also kinda hate that the camera is so zoomed in that I spend most of my time looking at the radar

-God, I love ps1 wobbly textures so much

-The Hind is so sexy

-Why the fuck are chokehold and throw on the same fucking button?!!!

-Snake seems to be only slightly less horny than Kojima

-So was the Darpa Chief a psycho mantis illusion? What's going on here? Really nice intruige building btw

-Revolver Ocelot is such a bastard. I already love him.

-This boss fight was so weak. Teally hope the rest isn't that bad, but I honestly do not exspect much.

-So I'm playing on pc and the way they did the "switch the controler port" thing is by having you switch out your controler for the keyboard. It's a really cool idea for how to preserve that moment. Unfortunatly, keyboard controls feel somehow even worse. 4/4 on kinda shit bossfights so far

-My dude is death monolging for so fucking long

-"Oh no, a tense moment! Better make the player run through half the map!" Insane design choice. Honestly dogshit.

-Using the sniper felt like dogshit as well. 5/5 on shit boss fights

So i watched episodes 3 to 8 of Pahkitew Island

Again, watched these with my buddy @rockin-it-rusty! And, holy shit these episodes have got me genuinly wondering why Pahkitew's so hated.

I'll go over the negatives first; the challenges are kinda eh. The Truth or Scare one is great, and the cave one is interesting due to it's hints at the Fake Island reveal (as heavy handed as they were), but most of these were just pretty out there to me? They mostly felt like an excuse to put the characters in situations mostly. Just have Topher make a narration joke, give Max and Scarlett an interaction, have Sky and Dave dance around eachother all due to a thing the challenge made them do. I don't mind the first two much, but the last one gets super repetitive man. Glad they mixed it up a bit by making Shawn try to wingman Dave though, i like their friendship! im a bigger dashawn shipper now oops

ANYWAYS IMA TALK ABOUT THE CHARACTERS NOW BECAUSE LET'S BE HONEST, THE CHARACTERS CARRY THE SHOW!

Amy... Ok im very mixed on her. On one hand, she serves her role as the mean twin relatively well. But on the other, that's all she really is! Her one trait is being mean and hating her sister, and that's all she really does! Granted she has a thing? Where she gets sayings (?) wrong, or just gets words wrong (she says parfait is german. it's french. i would know) which! could hint at something! (maybe less smart than her sister?) but they don't do shit with her outside of her swimming back to the island in episode 5. god i wanna rewrite this season so badly now to give her a bigger role. idk shoutouts to Twinning with a Twist for redeeming her while still giving her some edge ig.

Rodney. i uh

I haven't thought about him since his elimination honestly. I just doooooon't care about him it's crazy. Most forgettable guy in the entire series.

Sammy! Ok back to the siblings rambles! I wish the show leaned into her scheming more. Girl in five episodes pulled identity theft and did nothing else. Why. Her relationship with Jasmine is adorable, and i wish she got Jasmine to call her by her actual name, and a personality too! It's really a shame man :(

Sidenote, but like her team fucking hated her for some reason??? Like what. I know it's because of that one scene, but really?

Ella!! My sweet girl Ella!!! She didn't do anything wrong man she just likes singing leave her alone!!! Chris really fucking hates her and it's pretty entertaining at least, but i'd say his beef with Topher's funnier. She has a nice singing voice, and i love how passionate she is about fairytales and stuff. You could do so much with the Prince thing and the show... didn't. Like what even was that. Conflict that wasn't one that lasts an episode. what

Gotta say though, her elimination was fucking ass, Max 100% should've been kicked instead of her.

Topher. Ah the opher. He's a special case, even in the context of Pahkitew Island itself! Because the dude's not here for the game. He's here to meet his idol, Chris Mclean (he really knows how to pick em, huh). I like the progression he's got, from wanting his approval to straight up wanting to host the game instead of him. I'll admit, my opinion's a little skewed since i am mutuals with the Topher guy on Tumblr, but i like him regardless!

His relationship with Chris is easily one of the more interesting parts of the season, mostly because a 30-something year old dude having beef with a teenage fan is hilarious, and you could definitely spin it in a sad way from Topher's perspective.

It also helps that he's genuinely funny! His few interactions with the other campers are also pretty fun, he dgaf about them it's great.

Im kind of mixed on Dave, i'll be real. On one hand, im glad they ditched the whole "he doesn't like anyone on this Island" trait three episodes in because that would've gotten. SO ANNOYING. SO FAST. (hell i'd argue it was already annoying), and him being a hopeless romantic could be a fun trait, if done right. It also helps that he's really pathetic and i find that funny. His friendship with Shawn's fun too!

But on the other hand... Yeah, even before the finale the Skave plotline's really boringgg. They just dance around eachother for half the season for like! No reason! Please just have a conversation, even if it takes other people to sit them down to have it! I know why they didn't because the finale needed them to not actually talk about it but at least have Sky tell him she'll explain later or have him not be a coward and ask her about it himself!!! ack!!

Also the thing with him and Ella went literally nowhere. I have 0 feelings about it because it's just there for some reason. Idk they just really wanted to shoehorn in romance for every girl this season huh.

Scarlett's a really underutilized character pre-Island reveal. The bulk of her interactions with the other campers are with Max, who has a ton of screentime for some reason (which i don't personally really mind but i'll explain later) which honestly sucks because she's a fun character! I want to compare her to Twilight Sparkle at the very start of MLP. She's smart, she knows it, she can communicate with her teammates just fine and just chooses not to usually. I like her alot! Im just... really disapointed that she's so in the background usually; if anyone's a wasted character in tdpi, outside of the Twins i'd say it's her.

Her legit wanting to kill Max is great though. That's how i'd react to him irl. Don't get the Max saying she had a crush on him three episodes in, or the quip Chris made during the team switching tho.

SPEAKING OF WHICH, MAX! I swear, i was convinced i'd find this guy annoying pre-watch but uh... I like this guy! No really, i do! He's like Mal, only the narrative doesn't take him seriously in the slightest and it's hilarious to watch! Im like Sugar in that one clip, i am laughing at this buffoon's intelligence, and his stupid catchphrase, and his "evil" plans, and his general delivery! Max is funny!

Even when the Scarlett "minion" thing kicked in i still found him funny! Don't get me wrong, i wish he'd gotten out earlier (ESPECIALLY when he was supposed to get kicked in the episode Ella got eliminated into) or just gotten less screentime in general, but in the season proper, yeah he's a funny guy! Big gimmick, but i like him! Please don't add nuance to him, i don't care

Jasmine... certaintly exists! I'd call her the Season's rock, the one character that's emotionally intelligent on the show. She's fun in general, and also the only one noticing things going wrong with the robotic island. As said before, her relationship with Sammy is great to see, and i wished we'd see more of her and Sky's friendship and uh. For there to be more between her and Shawn? Because the only things i've retained is that they blushed at eachother once and then trust issues party because he hit her once during a challenge and that completely broke her trust in him - which, could be an interesting aspect of her character to explore since if that's all it took for her to pull a 180 on Shawn, the girl must have a complicated relationship with trust. That's an interesting flaw! It also shows up with her rapport in Sky in the later episodes of this batch, and. GOD. I wish it was developped man!

The issue? Yeah it's dragged on so longggg man! It's frustating to watch frankly because i really wish they'd resolve this conflict quicker since it's like. The same thing every episode :( to my knowledge it's solved in episode 9, but it did NOT need to be dragged out for 4 episodes.

Unrelated to her charater, but her height difference with the other campers is kind of ridiculous. In some shots the characters look so small compared to her it's crazyyy

Ok, now. Sugar. I'll be honest? She's great! She's just a menace and doing her own thing and it's fun to watch! She's also interesting in terms of backstory since she's canonically a pageant queen; her relationship with Ella is greatly impacted by this, since she heavily suspects her of lying to her face when it's just. Ella being Ella. Similar thing to her opinion on Topher; she doesn't like him for his sucking up to Chris, the host (something that Rusty probably agrees with). I fucking wish she was more popular because then people would look into her more, but alas. She's a female, plus sized character in Pahkitew Island, so considering the Fandom's biases, it was never going to happen. U_U

OK TIME FOR ZOMBIE BOY. So, Shawn. He's definitely more present in these episodes than he was before, and, again, i think he's fun! He's a weird little guy. He's got interesting skills (his camouflage, legit parkour, general athleticism) and his personality's interesting as well compared to the other guys. The zombie thing is fine, actually, because they do different things with it over the course of these episodes. Not much to say about him, he's a solid character to me and i wish he had more interactions with the cast outside of Dave and his pining for Jasmine. Who he's talked to like, five times at this point? Again, they probably should've talked stuff out faster than this for me to actually enjoy it. Oh well.

And finally, Sky. She's an interesting case for me? She's fine, mostly. She's the Normal Person™️ of the cast to me, and that means she really struggles to grab me. It's made worse by her main plot being a basic romance plot where the gimmick is that she's a reasonable human being and Dave isn't. And neither are able to have a normal fucking conversation about it either. The mixed signals thing could've been interesting, but this is Fresh TV writters, so of course it didn't end up that way. I assume the episodes without Dave are the ones where her personality shines more? Because so far she's just been really reserved and calm. And said she'd "focus on the competition only" And then. Doesn't. Really. God i wish this season treated it's female characters better :(

OK SO OVERALL THOUGHTS:

the screentime is not well split among the cast

the romance plots and pacing of the Island plot are the weakest parts of this season

the challenges are fine

mostly becus i leaned to animate on hellapp in class hiding my phone from the teacher (no sound or copyn paste or putting in pictures cant zoom in or out 1 layer like 4 brushes with spesific colors for each brush and size presets that i cant change tiny eraser and then you cant even turn the stuff that you make into gifs or videos or anything rip the little game animatic i actually managed to animate the whole 4 minute long song almost on beat and am still super proud of that) and now the moonbase alpha aeiou video is always playing somewhere in my brain!!

lots of people talk like the app your using changes your whole skill and makes stuff like flipaclip more impressive then it is but is just practise and finding what works for you!! i like flipaclic becuz of the stuff that makes it "bad" and i made it "worse" by turning off canvas roation and line weight :3

and i teeeechnicly have a stylus but i dont use it and am looking for someone to give it to i draw with my finger becuz it hurts my wrists less then a pencil and thank you for offerin to buy stuff for me!!!! am think no but it still means alot to me!!!!!

I watched Hazbin Hotel and i'm lost here.

The story in itself isn't so Bad in general but Charlie is kind of annoying and a bit selfish in a certain way.

I get her desire to redeem her people to avoid extermination day but at the same time people are in hell for a reason like cherry bomb is a toxic friend to Angel and a Bad influence, almost everyone the fandom convinced themselves alastor isn't a Bad selfish person and genuinly wants to help Charlie when he is here for his personal gain. Stop thinking he sees Charlie as a daughter he doesn't he was clear about his intentions.

Angel isn't a good person either he isn't the worst but he is in hell for a reason he was in the mafia he obviously did tons of shit in his life. His trauma can't be used to justify his behavior either.

And even if we're ignore all this like sir pentious getting redeemed it's not really okay either he did ONE good things and ended up in heaven.

The biggest problem is how unfair it is for the winners in heaven. Imagine you got killed ans went to heaven because you were good and your killer goes to hell but he shows up in heaven because "he's so sorry and redeemed himself" Yep fair enough good sir welcome to heaven am i right ? And i didn't really like Emily either she was acting way too kind and friendly as weird as it sounds. I understand her anger about the extermination and the fact sera hid it from her but still they're in hell for a reason and extermination wasn't planned for sick entertainement ar the begining of it until Adam made it a goddamn entertainement game. Emily acted as if people in hell weren't horrible people maybe not all of them are THAT awful but most are killers, rapists, pedophiles, terrorists, zoophiles or human traffickants, mafia members drug dealers or something.

I get the point of the serie is to show heaven's rules aren't truly black and white since Adam remained on heaven until his defeat and it was insinuated that once in heaven "angels Can Do whatever and remain in the Sky" and sounds selfish and not logical, but shit like Charlie didn't think anything through at no point, she brought drawings to a meeting with Adam and started singing instead of being serious i know Adam didn't take it seriously either but he isn't the one presenting a huge project that could raise many questions and worries so Charlie didn't prepare anything to prove it wouldn't cause problems. At No point did she think about what heaven citizens would think of it or how they'd react. She just came and spilled all her projects without thinking about what heaven would think.

Like you can't redeem everyone in hell like it's okay they messed up big times in their lives before dying. If i was in heaven After being killed or abused and my killer or abuser just came in heaven with a Big smile like "i was redeemed i'm sorry for hurting you" i'd be pissed like you ruined my life but i gotta face you for all eternity ? Great thanks love this.

And Charlie is the princess of hell but is disrepected and mocked like girl ? You're the princess use your powers ? Authority ? I know she thinks it's mean but she's in hell like people ARE mean and bad people ? I don't know it's frustrating. She has to be like one of the strongest beings in heaven and hell but she holds back because she doesn't want to hurt anyone ? Girl sinners can't die unless you use angelic weapons. Even against Adam she held back, for proof her father had to help and only when he was attacked she actually used more power and managed to hit Adam. And i don't think that the life or death adrenaline was what gave her this power she's the princess of hell she can't be that weak compared to Adam. I'm pretty sure she's just hella strong but never uses her powers to appear nicer and less threatening.

I don't know maybe Season 2 will do better.

What's you thoughts on Taash?

this is a write up i did on taash's questline at the point of the story i was at. i also talk about taash in general a bit here!

but just taash in general... and now i HAVE finished their questline entirely, i think, so hmm...

taash is ok. i think if i were to rate them as a character, as a companion, it would be like a 5/10.......... i could genuinly shift to 4/10 or 6/10 depending on what im thinking about

i did go into the game thinking i would find taash cool but little else. they were never really for me. i don't like characters with very long hair typically, they have to be the most perfect character otherwise for me to like them cuz its just an aesthetic choice that drives me insane (i Hate hair it gives me like.. sensory issues.. so sometimes even seeing long hair can freak me out.. esp datv hair.. ur ocs with the long hairs.... they make me itch) and i wasn't big on the outfit or the eye makeup or idk just anything really. taash just wasn't made for me. even tho i do love very large muscular people and horned races and stuff just in general. taash never stood out to me as someone i thought i'd bring along on quests .

and i just kept being sort of reaffirmed that taash isnt for me as i played the game. and then the in ur face nature of the nonbinary stuff started to piss ME off , and then the writing was in ur face RACIST and fucking WEIRD. i hate questlines where i need to pick a major choice for a character. esp when it makes no sense for my oc. and taash was a MAJOR embodiment of that. idk man

i went from being neutral to being genuinely pissed the fuck off.

right now i'm at the point where i might filter taash out so i don't have to see them anymore cuz i'm just mad as fuck at bioware for being shit. they arent bad writers?? i mean?? theyve wrote good shit before ????? so what the fuck was this ????????????? i don't know dude what am i meant to say.......

Oh no, don't worry about it! It's just me and my inner need to do stuff i find fun but also the knowledge that i probably won't be able to deliver on it being an unstoppable force and an immovable object kinda scenario.

You have no idea how much i want go "YES GIMME AN HOUR" and just do it, but like i know that i'll put of a string of other stuff that would bite me in the butt later. But putting the drawing off means there is a chance i either forget it or may even loose interest in the idea. Which makes me frustrated. But all this is just an internal thing and it is not an issue or anything.

I love when ya'll bring ideas to me because duh, it means you enjoy what i do which for my sad little soul is sustenance. And i just hate to disappoint when i can't take it on or take me ages. I know that it is not fully on me, when i genuinly have thing out of my control that stop me, but still. I'm just sad i cannot draw everyone all the thing they'd like, which is already an impossible thing but you know.

Anyway i am rambling again. But don't worry, i know there was no intention of putting pressure on me. I probably phrased my answer poorly but half of it was self discipline. To stop myself from literally drop cooking in the middle of it and just sit down and draw, because that is far more interesting than cooking.

Between Widow, Hanzo, Ash, and Ana

I am so hungry for a sniper who's like

"Ehhh... I'm not that great of a shot."

I understand Hanzo has that whole: 'I was better with a sword.'

But-

I want a sniper who's humility and genuine thoughts are that they could never go up against one of the greatest snipers of the world or 'formerly', as Widow says. But actually have decent skill.

They don't even have to be a sniper, hell, they could've dropped the whole sniping thing-

Does something cool and Ana just has a surprised Pikachu face, and the hero is like:

"eh, I'm sure you've done better, it's fine"

I've been brewing with chaotic headcanons all day. Can you tell?

I think the closest character we have to that right now is Cassidy, he isn't as competitive as the other four when it comes to his aim and is even prone to compliment the other fours aim. He actively complements Widow's aim when she gets an elim, compliments Hanzo's aim regularly, says Ana is the only person who could out aim him, the only person he get competitive with is Ashe and even then that was when they were kids.

Even then though it's just the fact he isn't as competitive as those four, he still takes a lot of pride in his aim, he admits that he isn't the best but he still admits that he's a good shot.

Honestly a sniper character who has more modesty then pride, or is just kind of insecure (cause honestly who wouldn't be when you have to snipe against Ana and Widow), would be a breath of fresh air compared to literally everyone else.

I could see this character being a next generation character, either being around Illari's age or even younger, being a completely new recruit to the new Overwatch after the events of the game. If it's the Illari option I could genuinly see them being a character who picked up sniping either because of the Invasion or just because of Overwatch falling.

And I would love to see this character interact with other snipers, cause I think Widow would be a bit awkward cause they wouldn't be challenging her skill, same with Hanzo, and if we go with the little bit insecure route then I the Ashe, Ana and Cassidy would try and give them some confidence.
