#I am SO excited for the artbook

Fellas, year is almost overrrr and it feels kinda surreal what I went through to reach this point.

I may feel nauseous rn but...! Today was a good day, my friends family and other relatives of her came today. I showed them my budgie too, he may be getting blind but people were able to hold him on their hands.

I haven't felt such joy in a while, I don't know how to put it. I remember the first years when I stayed at my friend's place around Christmas or so. It was fun but I was still dealing with other stuff that stressed me out. Especially last december was extremely stressful for me.. I mentioned it in another post? I think?

I unpacked some presents I got today. There was one special present in it, where I still can't believe of owning it.

!!! SWTD themed Christmas Jumper! Like?? Wow!! Still bewildered that one got sent to me, I mean this game is so much fun and I'm so darn obsessed analysing every detail of it whenever I can.

I literally played through it again on my PlayStation, I usually don't play such games multiple times but this one? It just hit me the moment I saw a Let's play of it. The first one I saw was from IGP, I really enjoyed him playing it, even tho Rennick JUMPSCARED me the first time I saw that scene.

First few times playing this game I got nightmares from Gibbo or my heart was racing while I ran away from Rennick. I don't know why, Gibbo's sentences haunted me so much. The pain in his voice was unbearable. (Same with O'Conner)

Trots still gives me the creeps, like he just has that aura on him. However, jumping over Trots is also very funny. And Muir's level I can now play in my sleep. I think 1/3 of my hours shown on steam is just me messing with Muir. It's currently at 154 hours played.

And Roper... my beloved *shakes my fists* poor wee man. He did nothing wrooonggggg. Sobs loudly. Foaming at the mouth and hoping there is more lore of him in the artbook. The wait will soon be over. I'm so excited.

But... I just wanna say thank you again to the devs and publishers for this awesome game. It very much helped me be able to get through the day for months. Considering it came out when I was still in a bad work environment, constantly getting bullied. I kept rewatching Playthroughs to stay calm.

I think I related to Caz a lot too, even if everything was basically falling apart around him, he kept going. Ofc he sadly couldn't get a happy ending in the end. But I just try to remember to keep going. Even if I needed to endure my old job for a bit longer, until my new job started.

It bring me so much joy being able to learn more about the gaming industry and the programs used to make such games. And ofc datamining the game and looking at every little detail. May it be the smallest thing such as a file called "CazYeet" or finding an entire unused level that was scrapped. Or even Muir's hit by prop sounds! My eyes WIDENED when I heard them.

I sometimes check artstation on multiple occasions, just to see if something new popped up. And whenever it does, I do a little mental happy dance.

Maybe one day I can finally switch over to the entertainment industry, but I need to teach myself so much first. I still wanna go to art school so badlyyyyy. I can already see I won't feel ready enough until I'm 30 or so. Although I'm going to be 23 in 2 days- I still have to practice so many skillsets ajshajsjaksnaksnksks *explodes* but I shall avoid spiralling in my thoughts.

I think I appreciate games so much more now, I still want to try out a bunch of them. But I firstly have to work on some swtd related projects. I'm definitely planning on making a big analysis video next year, which sounds terrifying, I need to practice talking in recordings first. ;a; But I can't forget to visit events too, I need to try out so much stuff;;;;

Okay before I ramble on endlessly... Just, from the bottom of my heart, thank you.

Chiho Saito’s 1999 Revolutionary Girl Utena Original Illustration Collection

IT’S HERE. IT’S DONE. IT’S FINISHED. NOW…IT’S YOURS. Happy Holidays, my friends.

Vanna here! I have posted some already about this project, and the responses I got, public and otherwise, have been absolutely incredible. Y’all have been reblogging and hyping this before it even finished…I haven’t felt so encouraged about an Utena project since the musicals! (Yes, streams soon, I promise.) You can read the other post to get more details, and catch my post here with more details about the process if you’re interested. The long and short of it?

This is the first artbook I ever scanned. I did it in 2001. In Photoshop, using multiple scans per page that took hours to process. But it was 2001. A half megabyte file that was 1250px wide was considered extremely hardcore and impressive. That’s just always been the business I’m in when it comes to Utena art, you know? 

It’s now the latest artbook I’ve scanned, and so much of the process, and effort involved, is unchanged. What has changed, is the result. Welcome to your new desktop background. Your new phone background. Your new poster print. 

What I’ve done here is attempt to create definitive digitized images of Chiho Saito’s work as offered by this book--I have removed the print moiré of the original scans, and used my literal decades of experience to try and tease out as much information from them as possible. Without being physically in front of the original artwork (which is a thing I’ve had the great fortune to get to do) this is The Most Chiho Saito you are ever going to get. I’ve tried my best to make sure there is a way to get it that works for everyone:

I have a confession. This artbook was my ‘side project’ as I worked on this, *the main project.* For a couple years I’ve been banging around with a new domain, and originally I had other plans for it, but Elon Musk ruined my Twitter and Discord is well along on its way to enshittification, and well….we joke on the Discord a lot about ‘reject modernity, embrace forums’ and you know what? We’re right. So Yasha and I are putting our money where our mouths are once again, and doing something insane. We are launching, in 2023, a website forum. Obviously, this is not the official ‘launch’ per se, but I cannot announce the artbook without directing you to the forum, since it sits on the attached very cool gallery system. Oops! Told on myself. Another post more focused on the forum will be forthcoming, but if you are just that motivated to get in right away, you absolutely can! (This will help stagger new arrivals anyway, which is good for us!) If you would rather wait for the ‘official’ launch, by all means that’s coming, including a lengthy screed about how and why we’re doing this. In either case, remember: this is a couple weebs trying to make internet magic happen, we are not website developers by trade. Give us grace as we iron things out and grow into this cool new website thingie…hopefully along with some of you! :D

Hello Everyone! I'm super excited to announce my new sketch collection Artbook: ✿Halcyon Days✿

I decided to go the pre-order route this time to make the process smoother, since I've got a great system for fulfilling orders through my own shop, and I have some funds to start the production right away!

In order to secure the rest of the production funding, and to allow myself more time to work on Gloamingvale's Chapter 1, I am hoping to get as many preorders as possible quickly, and offering a big early-bird discount for the new book, as well as a big spring sale on the rest of my shop items! Let me tell you more about the book: I've been putting it together for the past couple of months, and ended up with a lot more pages than I anticipated. It's brimming with a huge variety of sketches! XXXV - Annual Birthday Self Portrait 🎂🎉 Every year on my birthday, It has become tradition to create a self portrait with a reflection in mind on where my life has taken me this past year and where it’s headed moving forward!Turning 35, I’m right in between the 2 decades and for the first time in a while, I’m looking forward with playful curiosity.

I spent a good chunk of this past year dedicated to 3 big milestones: planning a huge, love-filled wedding, launching my biggest Kickstarter to date and creating a massive 400 page artbook. When it came to art specifically, working on this book forced me to reminisce on the past 11 years of my life alongside the pencil drawings that came out of it. With so much emphasis on looking back I wasn’t able to focus on creating new art as much as I normally do.

I see this next year as an experiment and an excuse to play outside of the greyscale box I may have put myself in. There is an eagerness to move forward with something new and with that comes a sense of willful changes. Will it be adding color to my creations? Working in different mediums? Testing out different hobbies? 

I don’t quite know what this all means but I’m ready to at least make the attempt! I can’t just ignore these gut feelings as more of my time passes by. So after these Drawtober pieces, I will most likely take the winter off as a sabbatical to get out in this playground called life and then return with an enthusiastic mindfulness to my art and what gets created next.

Hello everyone,

I really wanted to do this post with you to close this incredible year, so let’s go!

Because I like numbers (it’s wrong, I did literary studies) I wanted to share some of them. My passion for Doctor Who now started back more than a year and since then, I have made a total of 157 fanarts from the show. Only for this year 2024, 105. My style has evolved a lot from the first to the most recent fanart. My discovery of the series blew something up in me that made me use very flashy colors that I was not used to using at all. Then, gradually, I fell back on my feet and I returned to colors and a style that I used already before with my OCs. (Know that you can find all my illustrations in my lexicons here)

Tumblr doesn’t share these numbers much and I think it’s very good, but I still had to thank individually the more than 1200 people who follow me here!

And I’m not done with the thanks. You’ve all been amazing this year. Your support, always growing, brought me soooo lot of joy.

My process is quite simple, Twelve (Capaldi in general) and Clara live in my head 24/24 7/7, so I draw them in my corner. I say that it costs nothing to share my brainrot on the Internet and paf: you are here to invade me with likes, repost or even kudos. I am so grateful. Thank you so much 🥺

This year 2024 also marked the opening of my own discord server. This server would never have been created without the adorable @lex144 who once said to me «I dream of a place where Capalfan could gather and create together»

This discord has been a real breath of air for my creativity (and many hours sleep less because of its long exciting or terribly funny discussions).

I met lovely people to chat and create regularly like my dear @neonpsychopomp-blog @beetlegraves @the-immortal-redshirt @dontletmeeatpears31 and I definitely forget some others (because some are not on Tumblr)!

Some of you know, I was a freelance pin illustrator and designer from 2019 to 2023. 2024 was a year of hiatus during which I had several personal projects to complete (like my marriage for example). Since the end of October, I have been looking for a salaried job. 2025 therefore sounds the beginning of a new adventure but also - obviously - a drop in the level of illustrations.

However, I am also pleased to announce that it’s been several months since I worked on a very complete version of an Artbook gathering all my known and unknown Doctor Who illustrations. As production costs are very high and I am afraid that I will not have enough pre-orders, I want to wait until I have a salaried job to start the pre-orders. I hope you will enjoy it as much as I do!

I wanted to clarify about the inkfish's blood color? I was told there is a bit in the latest art book confirming they have red blood but i am yet to see a source so i wanted to ask

Gear acquired by our researchers Red Hammertreads Anakki has caught on to the latest trends, and has presented a collection of "looting"-themed footwear. The message of "Take what you want by force!" resonated with the boom of rough and rugged Splatlandian fashion, creating some die-hard fans. The motif of the collection is a gangster octopus, which has turned deep red due to the blood that's risen to its head.** This deep crimson color is symbolic of the collection.

**頭に血が上る means to be agitated or excited, but literally something like "blood to rise to one's head". with all the mentions of dark red, this word choice connecting it to blood was deliberate so i left it in.

Turning red due to agitation in this case might be implying its like a deimatic display rather than literal blood, but regardless that is still a connection of red blood and octopuses.

regardless of if you want to take this as solid proof of inklings/octolings having red blood, there are some other things that hint at them having red blood. like this art showing some inklings with ears and noses tinted red from the cold:

or this concept art for an inkling anatomical model, with the insides tinted red

There's also how the inside of the mouths of the squid sisters is a fleshy pink/red color rather than a color connected to their ink color, but theres some weirdness with how consistent mouth colors are If you're thinking, "but wouldnt it make more sense for them to have blue blood because they're cephalopods?" this is what i thought too. While blue blood is fine for sea dwelling cephalopods to have blue blood, it's inefficient for carrying oxygen for land dwelling creatures. Inklings and octolings took on many adaptations to make them more suited for land, so why not their blood? If the concept of a mollusc evolving from having blue to red blood sounds farfetched, this exact thing has happened to ramshorn snails!

Other option is they literally have ink blood which *shrug* idk they are creatures of Flesh and Organs so Im inclined to believe they have actual blood that, like the organs, we don't see because Family Friendly Game . I mean, we know for sure salmonids have actual flesh and blood (you can literally buy their meat in mako mart) but in game they just kind of explode like ink bags. anyway in short: not explicitly confirmed what kind of blood inklings and octolings have but with the S3 artbook and these few other examples i think red blood is a real possibility.

I just got home and I’m happy to announce that my arcane artbook arrived!!! 🩷

I was so excited to flip through it, to immerse myself in the artistry of a show that means so much to me. but nothing could’ve prepared me for what was inside, jinx doodled all over it. her chaotic scribbles, her thoughts, her drawings, her emotions, the reckless hearts, her unmistakable touch, it’s like she left a piece of herself on every page, like she reached through the pages, pulled me into her world, and left a part of herself behind. It’s silly, I know, but it hit me so hard. It felt like she was there, like her spirit, her pain, her joy, her chaos, simply her. I’m holding onto it like it’s the closest thing to understanding her world. this artbook is a piece of arcane’s heart and here I am, holding something that feels so alive, so personal, like jinx herself left a piece of her chaos behind for us to find. every page is a treasure, a deep dive into the world, the characters, the emotions that made the show what it is. the behind the scenes sketches, the concepts that didn’t make it, the raw, unfinished ideas, they’re all so stunning and full of heart. it’s overwhelming in the best way. I’m not okay

I'm sure there will be tons of info inside of it, I bought myself the hand signed version because this game hooked me so quickly.. that I was like "I ain't regretting this purchase" (I may or may not like to collect artbooks, I am very excited to get this book in February holy shit WAA).

Either way, I actually have a recording of their room, here:

The recording is a wee bit long for what it is, because there isn't that much in their room to begin with (I recorded it for two other folk who needed art ref). The door is missing too, hence why I didn't know whom this room belonged to. Until I asked someone at Secret Mode/The Chinese Room. I imagine, since they lived next to Roy for example they probably hang out with him a bunch.

Also while I am answering this ask, imma answer another anon question at the same time, since it fits with the room questions:

so uh, i know i keep saying that I would do anything for a Natsume artbook expecting it not to really exist... but the lil tribute booklet i got on Buyee out of pure curiousity ended up being like size A3 art collection with some that ive never seen and i am so excited!!!!!!!

So more Witch’s Castle info has been revealed (not officially but I imagine that’ll be soon, given how the official Twitter account has been relatively active recently)

I’m putting it under the cut because of that, and frankly it’s just because I want to give my thoughts

So first off, there was a preview trailer in a scrapped Witch’s Castle website with some gameplay footage, I’ll link the post here so you can see it yourself

Honestly, the gameplay doesn’t seem that exciting to me, probably because I’m not that into mobile puzzle games, but I like literally everything else about the game, so I’ll just have to suffer through it when the game comes

Then there’s this shot that happens at the end with all the characters

We got this one green character we haven’t seen yet, which is interesting

But also another thing, Sachertorte and Marble Danish really don’t look like they belong here, they look like they’re supposed to be in Kingdom. Like they just look really overly detailed when our main characters are all really simple looking. Witchberry and Radish I think match up well enough, they’re more detailed than the main group but not overly so, and I haven’t looked at the green one enough yet to say

And then there’s this post about Witch’s Castle’s release date

From what I can gather, it sounds like March 15th will be when the reveal date is announced, that being July 17 according to the emoji

And then also there’s this witch on the picture, alongside First Cream. So now I wonder, is First Cream like this witch’s main Cookie creation? Like, First Cream is her companion or carries out her bidding? Because they look pretty similar, and it’d match up with First Cream’s presumed Legendary status

Also apparently in the merch(?) there’s also shown to be more witches, as well as an artbook open to a page about one of them

So does that mean we finally get to see more about the Witches, their role in the world, and their relationships with the Cookies? (I mean yeah that was implied by the name and game’s first official trailer, but this is just more confirmation) And not only that, but the Cookies are navigating a world made for people a lot bigger than them?

It’s literally everything I want out of Cookie Run, I am getting this game when it comes out, even if I don’t care much for the gameplay
