car mirror selfies || james potter
pairing: james potter x bestfriend's sister!reader 826 words, reader is sirius' little sister, secret relationship at the start, accidental announcement?????, suggestive joke towards the end. a/n: THIS CAME TO ME WHEN I SAW A TWEET BUT I LOST THE TWEET (also, not proofread pls be nice)
Tumblr media
"When do you think we should tell them?"
You're with James. You're right next to him but you're also with him romantically.
It just sort of happened. One of those moments where you're hanging out and he just leans in and you also lean in and suddenly you're kissing. It's been very slow and sweet between the both of you since then.
As much as your now boyfriend would love to scream from the top of the hills about you, there's just one tiny problem.
"You want me, your girlfriend, to tell your best friend, my brother, that we are dating?"
"Well, Remus too-"
"Still! You see my point."
James lets out an exasperated sigh and shrugs. "We'll have to tell him eventually."
You bite the inside of your cheek. "I feel like at this point I rather him find out accidentally."
You should probably watch what you wish for.
It's Saturday afternoon, before your bi-weekly hangouts with your brother and his friends. Sirius had told you and James to meet at his car which was parked in the mall car park while he and Remus ran errands.
Five minutes pass by since the both of you arrive, and the other two are nowhere to be seen. It's not likely for them to be late, but you'd still let it slide.
"I wonder what's taking them so long..." you say. You decide to take out your lip gloss and reapply it, using the car's window as a mirror.
James smiles at you. He loves the way you concentrate and slowly apply it onto your lips and smack them together when you're done. He knows you'd kiss him on the cheek later and he'll keep the gloss stain on for as long as he could.
"Come here, babe," he says, using his arm to wrap around your neck as he pulls you closer to him. He pulls out his phone and aims the camera at the window. He starts to snap a photo.
"Cute," you say, smiling.
The both do a few poses. Smiles, sticking out tongues. You pucker your lips to pose, and James presses a kiss to his cheek and takes a photo of that, and you kiss his cheek back.
Just then, the car window slowly winds down.
"What the hell are you two doing?" Sirius asks, his brows furrowed and mouth agape.
You've never wanted to bury yourself underground so badly in your life until this moment.
The three of you are in silence for what felt like forever. James breaks it first.
"We were... taking selfies?" Wow. James, the love of your life, cannot even save his own life.
Sirius gets straight to the point. "How long has this been going on?" he asks.
You decide to speak this time. "Like... three weeks ago?"
He raises his brows, he looks curious now. "Before or after March 31st?"
"Before."
Sirius gasps, so loud that you and James flinch. He claps his hands, the sound echoing through the underground car park. "Remus owes me so much money!" he exclaims.
What?
"You bet on us?" you almost yell, once you realise what he said.
Sirius laughs. "On New Year's, Remus said he thought you two would get together by the end of the year. I knew better, you'd have it solved by March." He shrugs.
You scoff, "I can't believe this."
"Oh come on, I believed in you! You finally did something!"
James cuts in. "I made the first move," he announces confidently.
Sirius turns to look at him, his face now deadpan. "You're my best mate, James. But if you hurt my sister don't think I won't hunt you down."
James backs up suddenly, losing all said confidence. He mumbles an 'okay'.
You look at your brother. "You're not mad?"
"Why should I be? If anything, I rather have you be with James than some random git." The look on your face doesn't change much. He sighs. "You know what? Fine, I'm happy for both of you and I only want the best for you, blah blah blah. Are you happy now? Get in the car, and hold hands or whatever, I'm fine with it."
You and James look at each other. He smiles at you and shrugs, opening the door for you to enter. He gets in with you and doesn't hesitate to link his arm with yours, intertwining your fingers together. He squeezes your hand, and you know it's for reassurance.
Sirius happily sighs from the driver's seat, watching the two of you from the interior mirror. "Ah, young love," he says, crossing his arms.
"Please shut up, you're just a year older than me," you say. "I still can't believe you bet on us like that."
"Be happy for me! I'm now a whole one grand richer."
"You bet one thousand?!"
"Yes. But honestly? Remus can just repay me with some really good he-"
You kick the back of his seat.
a/n: i know it's not teacher and james but!!!! don't worry babes have this in the mean time, may this be the start of my motivation coming back. thank you guys! <3 likes and reblogs are appreciated

Jude Jazza - A story about a ruthless and arrogant man and an unfulfilled promise (JP ECB)
Tumblr media
as usual I don’t own the story or characters, they belong to cybird. some things might’ve translated not as smoothly but i tried to get close to the original tone + eng isn’t my first language so forgive any mistakes ;-; also beware of some spoilers about his backstory
I wonder when it happened.
When my sister was still alive, she and I had a high fever.
(I was in so much pain l felt like I was dying.)
(I remember her asking me to distract her from the agony of the high fever.)
Jude: “What do you want to do when you’re rich?”
It was a playful way to forget, even for a moment, the pain of the day.
Jude’s younger sister: “Anything?”
Jude: “Sure.”
The pained look on my sister's face breaks into a little smile of joy.
Jude’s younger sister: “If that's the case, let's see… I want to go to the moon!”
My sister's eyes, which are the same amethyst color as mine, look towards the highest point in the sky. There, like a jewel dropped into the deep sea, there was a round moon floating in the jet black.
(...... Ha, the moon.)
Jude: "Idiot, even if I had that kind of money I can’t do that.”
(I've never heard of humans going to the moon.)
Jude’s younger sister: “But the Queen’s got the whole world on her palm, right?”
Jude’s younger sister: "If we can go around the world, can't we go to the moon?"
How much money does the Queen have? As I was thinking about whether it was really possible to go to the moon with that kind of money...
Jude’s younger sister: "Hey, brother, promise me. When you become rich, take me to the moon."
A human being going to the moon is a dream too ridiculous to be true. But my sister, who might die tomorrow, needed hope at this moment.
Jude: "I got it. I'll use money, magic, anything to get you there.”
Jude’s younger sister: “Brother, it's lame to think you can use magic.”
Jude: “Keep quiet.”
Jude’s younger sister: "I'm going to go to the moon. I have to get well soon."
Jude: “That's right. We have to get you better."
Only when I was with my sister, I felt something like the outline of happiness. Every time her small hand grasped mine, a warm feeling spread across my chest. But before the feeling of happiness could develop, I always felt sorry for her. Just when I was thinking that one day I would make my sister happy. She was bought with money, and then she died after.
And then I - I swore revenge.
By the time I started my trading company upon graduating from public school, I had the noblemen who killed my sister completely by the scruff of the neck.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Even though they were already busy dealing with taxes, it piled up even more with debt.
-- After their mansion and land were all seized, I went to meet the people who bought my sister.
Jude: “Thank you very much for your time.”
Nobleman: "W-what are you? W-Wa...!"
I grabbed the hair of the most pompous looking nobleman sitting in the chair as hard as I can.
Jude: “You guys are the ones who buy poor children and make them do bad things."
Jude: “There's no point in trying to make excuses. Everything can be backed up."
The nobleman’s eyes widen as I flung the report that contains numerous misdeeds I’ve already investigated.
I dragged him down and stamped on his head as hard as I can with my shoe.
Jude: "Confess. A few years ago, you bought a kid with asthma from a longshoreman."
Nobleman: “Well that’s… Uh.”
Jude: “Confess…!”
No matter how much I hurt them, the noblemen didn't speak.
Then I realized.
They really don’t remember.
When I threatened the servant, he trembled and spilled everything.
Servant: “I buried so many people in the garden that I can't remember who's who…”
When I headed for the garden of the beautiful mansion, I found that only one corner had been dug up in an unnatural manner.
Jude: “…….”
-- So so many. I sit in front of one of the piles and gently touched it with my fingertips.
Jude: “Brother is here... Answer me.”
I didn’t hear anything.
I didn’t even know if she was here.
All I know is that it was already too late.
So then I introduced the nobles to my father and brother, who were still working at the port, sipping muddy water.
(Isn't it great to do hard physical labor with the person you sold your daughter to?)
I had my subordinates watch over as they were weakened by the humiliation of the harsh labor.
I did nothing, I just watched.
Soon after, the nobles, my father, and my brother were all dead.
I killed them all.
-……De.
-……Jude.
Ellis: “Jude.”
(Ellis….?)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(……Ah, I fell asleep.)
It seems that because I didn't get enough sleep, I passed out while sitting.
(--- Even if it's)
Ellis: “What kind of dream was it?”
Jude: “Hah?”
Ellis: “You sounded like you had a nightmare.”**
Jude: “It was a shitty dream.”
Ellis: “I see. Jude is unhappy even in his dreams.”
Jude: “Shut up dumbass.”
Ellis smiles and looks somewhere else.
When I followed Ellis' line of sight, I saw a full moon floating there.
Ellis: "I guess Jude won't be happy until he gets to that moon."
(I know the truth. Even if I went to that moon, I wouldn't be happy.)
My sister whom I promised to is dead.
I can't take her to the moon.
The crazy dream I have is a promise that will never come true.
Ellis: "Hey, Jude. Can you breathe on the moon?"
Jude: “Ah?”
Ellis: "I'm just worried if Jude dies there before I can kill him."
Jude: “You really are fucking crazy. It can’t be helped.”
Still, I only have this promise.
That's why—.
(Someday I'll go to the moon.)
**Just in case this small detail matters (not really but) he was making sounds like people usually having nightmares do. i bet he gets these nightmares often;-;**
*If anything got deleted and i didn’t notice it’s probably tumblr being weird on my ipad bc of storage ahajaj)
TN: OK wow after reading his backstories… my crack theory about jude and the moon some time ago turned out to be at least 70% right? also jude has always been pretty snarky/sarcastic haha even to his younger sister (a little) i have a loooot of thoughts on his backstory but ill dump it after finishing his route. it really is dark and horrible how the rich people bought children and just…. did all that…. i support jude torturing crazy nobles 🙂‍↕️

Tumblr media Tumblr media
“y/n, table eight needs fries,” Kie said quickly as she moved passed you. “Heard,” you quickly reply. Today was your first official day working for the Wreck, but Kie had been training you for weeks leading up to it. You were apprehensive, when she first asked you to get a summer job at the Wreck, not because you couldn’t handle a little hard work, but because you knew it was mostly inhabited by tourons and kooks, and while you technically fell into the category of the latter, you hated most kooks.
Except Kie. She was like, the only person on this island who got you. You didn’t like entitled people, you had grown up poor for a good chunk of your childhood, but your grandpa bought a lot of stocks decades ago, and never could figure out when was the better time to sell, so he never did, and when he died 6 years ago, your mother inherited everything. But just because now you lived in a big house, you could still remember how it felt when kids teased you for having to thrift your clothes.
Your parents, on the other hand, let the money change them practically overnight, along with your younger sister and your older brother. In fact, you were currently ‘cut off’ because your parents didn’t like how you spent the money. You liked to buy clothes, and makeup, and go out to eat, of course, but you also had a habit of donating money behind your parents back, or walk around the cut and give handfuls of cash to people that looked like they needed it; there was no shortage of that over on the cut.
You had made exactly two friends when you moved to Kildare island; Kie and Sarah Cameron, and when Sarah Cameron decided popularity was more important to her, it was just you and Kie, which you didn’t mind. She had other friends, but you had a lot of hobbies that took up your time, so you never really minded that you hadn’t met them. So when your best friend asked you to help her out by working at her family restaurant, you couldn’t say no. Besides, it would feel good to earn your own money.
Mr. Carrera handed you the fries for table eight, and you quickly carried them over with a smile on your face. Kie said that part was important.
“Hey, I just got a text from some of my friends, they’re gonna swing by. You wanna hang with us?” Kie asked after the lunch boom ended and there was a lull in the restaurant. “Uh, which friends?” Kie gave you a teasing look, “How many friends do I have besides you?” “Maybe you made more, now that you go to the other school, how could I possibly keep up?” you tease back, taking a drink from you water bottle. Kie rolled her eyes playfully. “The pogues, John B, Pope, JJ-” “Yeah, yeah, I remember… um… do they know you’re inviting me?”
Before Kie could open her mouth to reply, “Whaddup!” a loud voice called through the restaurant, making Kie turn. You looked past her to see three guys walk in. “What are you guys doing here already? You just texted me.” Kie said, putting her hand on her hip. “Uhhh,” the tall brunette one said, pulling out his phone, “well, we said we were coming 30 minutes ago, and this place is only 20 minutes away.” Kie checked her phone then groaned at being proven wrong. “Well, I’m still scheduled for another 30 minutes, so…” “That’s cool, we’ll just hang,” the blonde one said.
Kie sighed, throwing her towel over her shoulder. “Well, guys, this is my friend y/n, y/n, this is Pope, JJ, and John B,” Kie introduced, pointing to each guy respectively. “Guys, this is, y/n.” “Cool, nice to meet you,” Pope was the first to acknowledge you, sticking his hand out formally. You smiled as you shook it. “You guys too, I’ve heard lots about you.” “You’re the one who moved here, right?” John B asked. “Uh, yeah, about 6 years ago.” “Haven’t seen you around before,” JJ said, almost accusatory. “Uh… sorry?” you tried. “Guys! Stop giving her the third degree. I swear, this is why I never bring new people around you guys,” Kie scolded.
You gave an awkward smile and a small wave before quickly going behind the counter to wipe it down. JJ couldn’t help but watch you, his mind swirling around with thoughts. Why hadn’t Kie brought you around before? Was she hiding them from you? Was she hiding you from them? Why hadn’t he seen you in school or around the cut? Were you from her Kook days? Why was Kie still friends with someone from her Kook days? Why would a Kook willingly work for minimum wage at the Wreck? He laid his arms down on the counter, leaning forward as he blocked the next part of the counter, which meant when you reached where he was, you had no choice but to look up at him.
“So… y/n. Haven’t seen you here before… when did you start?” JJ asked, making you furrow your brows, but then you chuckled. Kie had warned you her boys were a bit much, and you found it cute that JJ was living up to it so fast. “I started today. Kie was nice enough to offer me a summer job,” you explained, carefully picking his wrist up to move it, he quickly crossed his arms, letting you continue cleaning. His eyes stayed on you even as you moved past him. John B smacked his arm, making JJ turn to see his friends giving him knowing looks. JJ wet his lips before turning back to look at you. Fuck it, he thought. Kie hated Kooks, she wouldn’t willingly be good friends with one. “Hey, did Kie invite you to kick it? Because you totally should,” JJ rambled, making you smile to yourself. “Uh, she did actually, right before you guys walked in.” “And now they know, so you can come,” Kie spoke up, with a cocky smile.
“Okay, I’m down. What’s the plan?”
When you and Kie got off work, John B drove you all back to his place, the Chateau, with the promise of grilling, and taking the boat out on the water. John B was more than happy to teach you how to grill, and JJ took the opportunity to interrogate Kie.
“So, what’s the deal with y/n?” JJ asked bluntly, taking Kie by surprise. She raised an eyebrow and crossed her arms. “Why do you wanna know?” “Well… just seems a little odd that we’ve never met your only other friend. How did you meet her anyway?” Kie rolled her eyes. She knew JJ hated Kooks, but she also knew that like herself, y/n was not really a Kook, and she didn’t want JJ to judge her before he got to know her. “Soccer. I did it for like one summer, and it just so happened to be the year she moved here.” “Well, why didn’t you ever bring her around?” “Because I knew you guys were gonna get weird and scare her off,” Kie teased, pushing JJ back by his forehead as she walked past him, but JJ wasn’t giving up that easily.
“Okay, okay… she got a boyfriend?” JJ asked, making Kie stop in her tracks. “Seriously?” Kie asked in an annoyed tone as she turned to face him. “What? I’m just trying to get to know your friend, Kie,” JJ lied, making Kie roll her eyes. “She doesn’t have a boyfriend. Anything else you want to know, you gotta ask her,” Kie said, throwing her arms up in surrender.
Truthfully, she was playing dumb. She knew exactly what she was doing. She always thought you and JJ would be good for each other, and if she could just get JJ to not see you as a Kook, maybe that’s exactly what would happen.
“I’m gonna grab a beer, you want one, y/n?” JJ offered, taking you by surprise. “Uh, sure, thank you, JJ,” you answered with a smile.
JJ walked over, opening your beer before handing it to you, you gave him another smile as you took it, raising it slightly to say thank you. JJ took the opportunity to do cheers, so you both took a drink, eyes locked on each other the whole time.
Oh, he was good, you thought. He didn’t have to say a word, and you were already drawn to him.
After eating, you five loaded onto John B fishing boat, you and Kie sitting on the front of it as John B drove. The sun was just starting to go down as you got into the middle of the water, the view was absolutely perfect. “I think this is the prettiest thing I've ever seen,” you said softly, mostly to yourself.
JJ couldn’t agree more as he watched you sitting the golden glow of the sunset. He decided to be bold, and reached out to move a piece of hair behind your ear. When you turned to him with a teasing smile, his heart skipped a beat. “That’s like the cheesiest move in the book,” you taunt. “Alrigh’ alrigh’, that’s fair,” JJ laughs. “So did I completely blow it?” Your smile grew, so you turned your head away. “I didn’t say that.”
The rest of the night was filled with laughing, smoking, and stolen touches wherever possible. When Kie announced she was taking you home, you wanted to strangle her, but you didn’t want to seem too eager, so you agreed.
“You and JJ seemed friendly,” Kie said with a knowing smile as she drove her mom’s jeep towards her house for a sleepover.
“Ugh, was I total dork? I feel like I was a total dork,” you whine, letting your head fall back against the headrest. “No, no, he totally likes you… but there’s something I have to tell you.” “What?” In an instant you nervous, as if JJ was gonna pop out of the back seat. “Listen… a couple years back, JJ went on a date with a Kook, Jules, only… it wasn’t a date, it was a trap. She just wanted to humiliate him. JJ… hates Kooks. Like, more than anyone else I know. If he finds out your parents are rich, he…” Kie trailed off, but you could figure out what she was getting at. “Your parents are rich and you guys are like best friends,” you pointed out. “I was grandfathered in, I met the Pogues in 6th grade, pre-Jules embarrassment.” “Great. I finally meet a guy that isn’t a total asshole and I can’t go for him because my shitty parents are rich. Awesome.” Once again you let your head hit the headrest.
“No one said that,” Kie said suddenly. Slowly, you opened your eyes and turned your head to look at her. “What?” “If we just… don’t tell him…” “Kie. He would hate me if he found out I kept it from him on purpose.” “So… let me take the heat. You didn’t know until I just told you, play dumb.” “I don’t know, Kie-” “Do you like him?” You scoff, “I-I don’t know, I just met him today.” “I didn’t ask if you wanted to marry him, do you like him?” “...Yeah,” you answered shyly. “Then just trust me. Don’t bring it up if you can avoid it, okay?” You were still unsure. “Okay?” Kie asked again. “Yeah, yeah… fine.”
JJ was waiting at the Wreck when you showed up for your shift the next day.
“JJ? What’re you doing here? It’s Kie’s day off,” you say as you put your hair up, a small smile playing at your lips to see him again so soon. “I know, but she said you were working… I was wondering if I could pick you up when you get off, take you out?” he asked, bracing himself for the possibility of rejection, but you just smiled. “I’d love that JJ…”
As far as you were concerned, that was the best decision you ever made. Being with JJ was like nothing you had ever felt before, he always did anything to make you smile, make you laugh. He was a breath of fresh air from what you were used to, Kooks who think their existence is a gift to the world, taking everything too seriously; but not JJ. JJ just wanted to make you smile.
As time passed, and your relationship with JJ going strong, you found yourself forgetting what Kie had told you about JJ hating Kooks, because it didn’t matter. You hated them too, and avoided them as much as you could, spending more nights at Kie’s and the Chateau than at home.
But it was wrong to keep it from JJ, and nothing could change that. And karma has a funny way of working.
You and JJ had been dating for about 3 months, summer coming and going in a flash, but Mr. Carrera decided to keep you on staff, and you had liked working there and feeling independent from your parent’s money, so there you were; working an afternoon shift, when everything started to fall apart.
Word must had traveled to Figure Eight that you were working here, because when you showed up for your shift, Rafe Cameron the one and only, was already sitting with a group of his friends, being loud and obnoxious which only amped up when he saw you.
“Well look who it is! Bitch who thinks she’s better than everyone finally got cut off,” Rafe said boisterously. “Fuck off, Cameron,” you said plainly, not letting his words bother you as you put your hair out of your face, jumping into action. You had spent your whole life dealing with Rafe’s obnoxious personality, you could survive it.
But then, JJ walked in, and in slow motion you could practically see everything slipping from your fingers. “Hey babe. Thought I’d keep you company,” JJ says with that handsome smile. You force yourself to give him one back, trying to pretend you weren’t internally panicking. “Hey baby,” you said quickly before pecking a kiss to his cheek. “Oh, well now I understand everything,” Rafe said loudly, loud enough to be heard across the restaurant. “Y/n’s dickwhipped by a pogue.”
You can’t think, a million things to say or do pop into your head and you can’t prioritize them in time to act. “Babe? Is Rafe talking to you? How do you know Rafe?” JJ asked softly, which just broke your heart more as you were too shocked to reply, at least, before Rafe beat you to it. “Oh Y/N? We go way back. She used to have sleepovers with Sarah when her and Kie were on the soccer team together, isn’t that right?”
You try to look at JJ, but his face is scrunched up in confusion. “Sarah? You mean… from Kie’s kook days? But then-” The look on his face broke your heart, and you couldn’t pretend you didn’t know why; you couldn’t bring yourself to lie to him twice. “JJ, just let me explain, okay?” you try, but JJ doesn’t let you, as soon as the sentence is out of your mouth, confirming his fears, he’s running for the door, leaving you standing there with a broken heart.
Two weeks passed and you were unable to get JJ to talk to you, and every attempt just made you feel worse and worse, so eventually, you took the message. Kie tried to be there for you, but you were reluctant to accept help from her since she was also JJ’s friend, so you spent most of the time locked in your room, being even colder to your family than usual.
Meanwhile, at the Chateau, you weren’t the only one feeling the effect of the breakup. JJ had been cold, impulsive, starting fights with anyone who tried to talk to him, and soon everyone felt the effects ripple through.
“JJ…” John B decided to be brave. “What?” JJ snapped back in reply. “...Man, we’re worried about you,” John B said, already JJ was rolling his eyes. “We can see you miss her. Bro, who cares if her parents have money? She’s still the same y/n.” “She lied to me.” “She didn’t lie to you!” Kie confesses, then sighs, “After the first night you guys met, I could tell you both liked each other. You haven’t really liked a girl since the Jules thing and I just wanted you to give it a chance!”
“You told her to lie to me?” “I told her not to bring it up. But I mean- did you ever ask her if she was a Kook?” JJ got a bit flustered at the question. “I-It doesn’t matter. She kept it from me on purpose.” “Only because I told her too! That first night, when you guys were vibing, that was real. She didn’t even know yet. And honestly- it’s a bit hypocritical for you to not see me as a Kook, but to see her as one. She hates Kooks too.” Kie said, bringing her drink up to her mouth, silently saying that she had said her piece.
JJ sighed as he stared down at the drink in his hands. For once, something one of his friends said was starting to get through to him.
“Man… what do I do? I feel like I’m going crazy without her.” JJ said, desperation leaking from his voice. “Go talk to her,” John B suggested. “How? It’s clear I don’t know anything about her” JJ said, already getting defensive again. Kie uncapped a sharpie and grabbed his hand, writing on the skin. “This is her address. Now you have no excuses.”
On his bike, he got there in about 20 minutes.
Your parents had long abandoned trying to understand you, but they tried to show their love however they could, which to you meant respecting your privacy when you were upset, so you were surprised when you heard a knock at your bedroom door.
You sniffled and used your sleeve to wipe away any residual tears, getting up slowly to open the door, seeing your mom standing there with a worried expression on her face, despite her attempts to hide it.
“Hey, sweetie, you doing okay?” she asked softly. “I don’t want any dinner.” “Well, actually, there’s someone for you at the front door, a boy. Said his name was JJ?” you didn’t need to hear anything else before you moved for the staircare, almost tripping over your feet.
JJ was looking around awkwardly when you saw him standing in the foyer. “Hey…” you said softly, hoping he didn’t notice the way your voice cracked. “Hey… So this is your place? It’s… nice.” “JJ please believe me, I don’t- I didn’t want to keep it from you, Kie told me to, and I shouldn’t have listened- I don’t- I’m not like-” you struggled to find the words. “You’re not a real Kook.” JJ finished for you, taking you by surprise, and for the first time since the breakup, you had hope.
You stepped slightly closer, unsure of what to say, but determined to not let the conversation die here. “Kie said you didn’t know about… Jules or whatever, the first night we hung out. Is that true?” You swallowed, a bit unsure of what this had to do with anything, unsure which answer he wanted to hear, so you were just honest. “She told me later, when she drove us to her house. But that first night, on the boat, no I had no idea.”
JJ took his hat off to rub a hand anxiously through his hair. “I wanted to say I’m sorry. Back at the Wreck, I didn’t give you a chance to say anything, and that wasn’t fair. I just wasn’t ready to hear it.” You nodded softly along with his words, understanding his position. “What changed?” you decide to ask.
JJ chuckles awkwardly. “I guess you’re harder to stay away from than first thought… And I’m pretty sure my friends would murder me if I didn’t come talk to you.” His words made you chuckle, which felt good after two weeks of crying, but then you two stood in silence, just staring at each other for a moment.
“I’ve missed you, y/n… I don’t… I don’t care if your parents have money. Kie’s right, you’re no more a Kook than she is.” JJ finally said, and you felt like your legs might give out from under you. His words made your heart flutter with hope. But you couldn’t make the same mistakes.
“I still understand… if you can’t be with me. What Jules did was fucked up,” you say softly. “Yeah… yeah it was. But you’re not Jules… and… staying away from you isn’t punishing her, it’s punishing me,” JJ said, making your eyes widen as you step closer. “Does that mean…” JJ looked at you, all the walls he built over the years seemed to fall down in that instant. “Please… take me back. I’m losing my mind without you, I can’t sleep, I can’t eat-” you don’t let him finish as you run over to wrap your arms around him. JJ immediately brought a hand to your cheek, lifting your face to look at him before he pressed his lips to yours.
“I’m sorry I was an idiot.” JJ breathed out after you two pulled away. You shook your head, “I should’ve just told you.” “No, Kie was right. I would’ve assumed- Don’t tell Kie I said she was right.” JJ quickly added, making you giggle before you pulled him down for another kiss.

AITA for exposing my sister-in-law's secret during a fight?
Ok, this one is going to need a bunch of context.
I (29F) started to date my fiance F (31M) when I was 26. While he is the sweetest person ever, his family is a bit difficult and it was hard for me to fit in. They are a very traditional family of Japanese descent, very rich too, and his mother MIL (60sF) had a dream of seeing all of her three sons married to other rich girls of Japanese descent. I am white and from very humble origins, so I was not very well accepted at first. The thing that bothered me the most was the constant comparisons to my brother in law BIL's (34M) wife SIL (33F), who is rich and of Japanese descent. I was deeply in love with F and decided to fight for my place in his family; I started to take Japanese classes and ended up really good at it, and I was also the one who took care of MIL after her appendicitis' surgery. She recognized my hard work and we became closer and closer, at the same time she realized SIL didn't make the same effort for her and the family as I do, and she started to be very vocal about how I was her favorite daughter in law and how SIL should do better and try to be more like me. Suddenly, the tables have turned and SIL was the one being compared to me, no the other way around.
Of course she didn't like that at all and started to antagonize me and criticize every small thing about me. She would complain my dog would bark too much (which she did, but SIL was a little mean about it), and when my dog died, she made a comment about how finally she wouldn't have to hear her barking anymore (that stung a lot since I loved my dog with all my heart and she was like a baby to me), she would also complain about my apartment every time she visited me, saying it was too cheap (as I said, I come from humble origins) and her newest topic of complaining are my earrings: I like to wear cute and funny earrings (only at work and family gatherings, I don't wear them at social events or anything like that) and she always talks about how I'm too old to wear them and how tacky it looks. F and I noticed she's been progressively meaner the closer we get to our wedding (three months from now) and think she's trying to scare me away before I become an official part of the family.
One last piece of context: some months ago, F told me in confidence about how 6 years ago SIL's brother and sister in law died in a car accident and left an orphaned boy of 4 years old. SIL was the little boy's only family, but she refused to take him in saying she already had too much work with her own son (who was also 4 at the time). That didn't go well with the family; MIL and my father in law (who was alive at the time) assured her they would help with the kid and she would have all the support, but she simply didn't want the boy, so he was sent to the system. That was something MIL never forgave her for, since family is everything to her, and it was something only MIL, BIL, SIL, F and his younger brother knew. He told me that in confidence and asked me to not tell anyone. I promised I wouldn't.
Now for the actual situation.
Our last family dinner was one of F's cousins' birthday, so all the extended family was around. No kidding, I think there were around 60 people there or more. SIL, once again, decided to mock me about my earrings (little cherry earrings, very cute) and talked again how I was to old to wear them, how they were kid earrings etc. I've been tolerating her bullshit for so long now and after her comments about my dog's death, I was more sensitive than usual, so I snapped back and said that it's not because she dresses herself like an old lady that I have to do the same. She got angry at that and a proper fight started; we saying worse and worse stuff to each other while everyone stopped to watch. It ended up with her mocking my upbringing and calling me a gold digger, accusing my of only being with F for his money. That really struck a nerve because I heard that before at the beginning of our relationship and it always hurt my feelings, since I genuinely love F. Before I could even think about it, I said: "At least I'm not a heartless bitch like you. How's your nephew doing, by the way? Oh, you have no idea, right? Since you put him in a fucking orphanage!"
She got speechless after that and left the place, went straight to her car with BIL and went home. I didn't hear from her or him since them. F is furious with me since he told me that in confidence and now all the extended family knows SIL's secret. MIL doesn't care at all; she never got over what SIL did to that little boy and it's been a while since SIL isn't in her best graces.
Now that I'm calmer I feel a little guilty for exposing SIL like that, but she was always so awful to me that I can't really feel that bad. Mostly, I feel bad for BIL, with who I always had a good relationship and even defended me back in the day when the family didn't accept me very well. Now he's not talking to me either and, as far as I know, he's also not talking to F.
So, AITA?
What are these acronyms?

I’ve been living in Toronto for the past two years. I’m a sophomore at the University of Toronto.
My older brother Auston plays for the Toronto Maple Leafs. When he first moved to Toronto, I missed him a lot so I decided to apply to Toronto. When I got excepted Auston was excited to be close to me again. Even though he’s 5 years older than me I’ve always been closer to him.
My first year here I lived in a dorm room, this year I wanted to live on my own so my brother helped me find an apartment where I could afford on my own even though he argued about it, I never want to have to depend on my brother for his money, even though he keeps saying he doesn’t care, but when I told him I wanted to pay for my own place he agree after about a month as long the apartment was in a safe neighbourhood.
This morning my brother called me after I got out of class to ask if I wanted to go watch their practice. I had nothing to do so I said yes.
The guys have been like my brothers since the moment I met them all, they always have my back. Auston said that Steph was going to be there, she’s Mitch’s Fiancé, she is the wag who I’ve always been the closest with since the day I met her, she became like an older sister to me. I tell her everything, if I ever need advice, she’s the one I talk to.
I took an uber to the arena since Steph and I always go out for coffee after we do this. I finally arrived at the arena and made my way to the stands to meet Steph.
When she saw me she smiled, she pulled me in a hug.
“It’s so good to see you, I miss you” she said, I chuckled.
“You literally saw me two days ago” I said
“I know but I still missed you”
“I missed you to”
We sat down and started talking, the guys aren’t on the ice yet.
“You’re going to see the new rookie today,” she said smiling.
“New rookie?” I asked confused
“Yeah, his college season just ended so the leafs signed him”
“Oh nice”
“According to Mitch, he’s really good and he’s your age,” she said, smirking.
“What’s that supposed to mean?”
“well you are single”
“Oh shut up” I said laughing.
“He’s number 23” she said as the boys started to get on the ice.
I looked up and saw who she was talking about, he looks familiar.
“What’s his name?”
“Um I think Mitch said Matt Knies” she said
I whipped my head around and looked at her with wide eyes.
“WHAT!?” I whispered.
Her eyes widened.
“Yeah, why?”
“Because I know him, why did the leafs have to sign him?” I sighed.
“What’s wrong with him? according to Mitch he’s really good.”
“I know he is… he’s from Arizona, we have the same friends back home, we went to the same high school but we never got along.”
“Omg really? Does your brother know about this?” she asked
“He might I don’t know, I never mentioned him before, really i’m closer with the doan’s and knies’ brother Phil”
“Well maybe it’s a sign for you guys to finally get along since you’re both in the same city again” she said smiling.
“I hope because if not, being in Toronto is going to feel like hell”
“It will be fine, don’t worry, and I’m sure if he says or does something, your brother and the guys will have your back” she said smiling. I gave her a soft smile.
We continued watching practice, once it was over the guys started making there way off the ice, Mich, Auston and matthew are standing by the bench talking. Mitch turned our way and waved happily, he might be 26 but he acts like a kid sometimes. Steph and I waved back chuckling. Both Auston and Matthew looked our way, Matthew looked straight at me shocked, his jaw dropped. He regained his composure before my brother or Mitch noticed.
Once they got off the ice, Steph looked at me smirking.
“What?”
“He definitely noticed you” she said, chuckling.
“Shut up” I scoffed.
We made our way out of the arena and to Steph’s car. Steph started Driver to (Your Favorite coffee place). Once we got there we both ordered our coffees and sat down at a table closest to the window.
Steph looked at me and smiled.
“What now?” i asked chuckling.
“What is it between you and Matthew that you don’t get along?”
“Honestly, I don’t know. We’ve been going to the same school since we were kids, we both had the same friends like I said, I was close with Gracie Doan while her brother was close with Matthew, as we grew up, we all became like a group all of us along with Matthew’s older brother. He’s just been a jerk to me since middle school, it never changed” I told her honestly.
“Have you ever thought that maybe he has a crush on you? I mean that’s usually what kids do when they have a crush” she said.
I scoffed.
“There’s no way Matthew ever had a crush on me.”
“You never know Yn, what about you, have you ever had a crush on him?” she asked curiously. I laughed.
“Obviously, i’m not blind, he's good looking steph” i said smiling, too bad he’s a jerk when it comes to me. Steph smiled before taking a drink of her coffee.
“Well, let’s hope something good comes from him being in toronto and being your brother’s teammate.” she said
“Same but i doubt it’ll end with us getting together steph”
“Never say never Yn” she said smirking. I shock my head in disbelief.
“Yeah, yeah whatever” i said and she laughed.
“Moving on, how are your classes? Are you almost done?” she asked
“Yeah, i only have one exam left then year 2 will be over” i said smiling.
“I’m glad”
Tumblr media
Steph dropped me off at my apartment. It’s now noon, I took my school stuff out of my bag so I could study a little for my exam.
I studied for about an hour before taking a break. I went on my phone and texted Phil, Matthew’s brother, he’s one of my closest friends.
Yn: Why couldn’t you have warned me that your brother signed?!?!
Phil: Thought it would be a good surprise 🤪
Yn: I hate you so much right now!
Phil: No you don’t!
Phil: Did you see him?
Yn: Yes! I went to watch practice earlier with Steph, she’s the one who told me, then I saw him!
Phil: Sorry Yn :/ Did he see you?
Yn: Yes and he was shocked!
Phil: You two are going to have to get a long sometime!
Yn: You know damn well that won’t happen anytime soon!
Phil: Let me dream!
Yn: 😂
Phil: I’ll see you in a few days, we're coming down to Toronto For his NHL debut! (Pretend His debut was in Toronto)
Yn: At least i get to see you and your parents!

POV You
Relax Y/n, this is just a job interview. Just a job interview, just a job interview, just a job interview. I repeat myself over and over again inside my head. I pull up my metallic blue 2021 Jeep Wrangler two-door in front of the security fence and roll down the window.
XY: Good morning.- the guy from the booth greets me, with a tablet in his hand and stands next to the window. -Your name and the name of the person you are coming to visit please.- he asks me and I give it to him quickly.
Y/n: Y/n Brown Davis and I don't know who I come to see honestly.- I answer a little embarrassed. -They called me for an interview and they only told me to come here and to go to house number 2432.- I explain watching him nod and type on the screen.
XY: You're on the list.- he confirms and takes a weight off my shoulders. -See if you turn right at the second exit and continue straight for about five minutes, You will find the house right away.- he explains to me and I thank him enormously.
He gets away from the car and opens the fence for me, letting me pass into the urbanization. I follow the instructions he has given me, seeing the mansions on both sides of the street and thinking about which celebrities will live in those houses.
I know that some of the Kardashian Jenner family live in this neighborhood, but I don't know where their houses are and I don't really care much either. I'm not a big fan of them, I only watch the reality show when it happens to be on and little else. But my older sister is the opposite, she loves the reality and everything that has to do with that family.
I come from a family that has money, enough to live comfortably with some luxury; but not because of an inheritance or something like that.
My mother is one of the best surgeons in all of England, working both publicly and privately; so she earns good money. My father is an architect and engineer, so he also earns well, but less than my mother. My parents have always told me that I have to win my money, that I can't be depending on them and that I have to start having work experience.
My parents are both English, my mother was born in Manchester and my father in Surrey. Both my older sister Olivia and I were born in the London Hospital. My sister is 25 years old and she is 6 years older than me, since I am just going to turn 19 in two months.
But now I live in Los Angeles, because I won a soccer scholarship at UCLA and I couldn't turn it down. But my first year in architecture is about to end, the summer holidays were approaching and I had decided to get my first summer job.
I had spent three weeks looking for some job news or something that was appropriate to what I can do and in which I had a minimum of experience.
But since it was my first job, I didn't have much experience in anything. But I saw an offer about being a babysitter and I had experience in that. Maybe not officially through a contract, but when I was 15, 16 and 17 years old I worked to take care of the children of some neighbors for almost three years. So I had some experience, so I sent an email with my resume and information and a week ago they contacted me.
In that email only the date and time of the interview appeared, along with the address and house number. My parents were somewhat insecure when I told them about it, since they usually put a reference name and there was none in mine.
So they were not very sure and they were a little nervous. But I assured them that because of the area it was in, it would surely be because it was someone important and they didn't wanted to give the address to anyone.
When I get to the house, I stop and look out the window at the beautiful mansion in front of me. I park the car on the sidewalk and get out of it, locking it. Although it's probably not really necessary takin acount the money that tis mansions costs.
I walk nervously up the long driveway, noticing the flowers and decorations on the driveway.
I stop in front of the door, taking a deep breath and making sure my clothes are okay. I had decided on something simple and casual for the interview.
Black and white checkered pants, with a black short-sleeved bodysuit and white platform All-stars, with a small black bag for the car, house, wallet and mobile keys.
I take another deep breath and ring the doorbell of the house. I quickly run my hands through my hair, making sure my light brown hair is neat and not completely tousled. The door opens, letting me see a woman in her 30s or so with a friendly smile on her face.
XX: Do you want something? - she asks me kindly.
Y/n: I have an interview here. - I answer a little nervous. -My name is Y/n Brown and I come for the babysitter interview.- I inform and I see how she nods in understanding.
XX: Come in and wait here for a moment please.- she tells me letting me enter the house and closing the door to disappear around the house.
I just look at the marble stairs in front of me, looking at the entire entrance with fascination and taking in the architectural details.
I get out of my impression, when the same woman comes back and asks me to follow her. I quickly do so and walk almost on his heels and playing with my hands nervously.
XX: Come in.- she says opening a door for me and giving me another smile.
Y/n: Thank you.- I thank you and enter the room, seeing immediately that it is an office.
Kris: Good morning.- she greets me and I am surprised by the person in front of me, but I prevent the surprise from being external. "Please sit down." she offers me, pointing to one of the seats on the other side of where she is sitting at her table.
Y/n: Good morning.- I greet with a kind smile; sitting where she just pointed me out.
Kris: First of all I want to ask you some personal questions, okay? - she asks seriously, but with some kindness and I nod. -In your curriculum it says that you are from London, that you are 18 years old and that you are here for your studies, right? - she asks and I nod again.
Y/n: I was born in London and I study at UCLA with a full scholarship for my sports skills.- I inform her, watching her nod and write something on a piece of paper.
Kris: And what are you studying and why did they give you the scholarship? - she asks me looking at me over her glasses.
Y/n: I study architecture and I have a sports scholarship for soccer.- I answer with a small smile.
Kris: Being English, I need to know if there was any problem with the student visa or something like that.- she tells me and I swallow a bit nervously.
Y/n: There would be no problem, since before coming I studied and got dual nationality: so I have English and American nationality. - I explain, seeing how she points something again and reads something else.
Kris: In your resume you say you've worked three years as a babysitter.- read and I nod. -Because of that do you think you are more qualified than another person to take care of four children? - I wonder and I almost open my eyes surprised; I thought it would be one or two children.
Y/n: I don't think it's so much about being more qualified than someone else, with all the respect in the world. I think it's more of something vocational, if you don't like children, no matter how qualified you are, you will never give everything at work and that is something very important from my point of view. - I begin to answer her. -It is very likely that there are many other people more qualified than a girl of almost 19 years, who has only cared for two children for three years and who does not have an experience of 10 years as surely many other people will.- I say seeing how she stares at me. -But I love children, I enjoy taking care of them and it is a job in which it is never the same every day.- I commented and I see how she writes something more. - In addition to the fact that the number is not so important, if you are able to handle two; You can handle more and in a very effective way with some tricks. - I finish telling her and I see how she nods.
Kris: The vacancy would be for specific dates and on weekdays during the summer.- she informs me and I simply nod. -What availability do you have? - she asks me, bringing the pen closer to the paper.
Y/n: All?- I ask more than I answer. -In a week I finish the semester, the university league ended a week ago and I have the rest of the summer completely free.- I explain and she notes something.
Kris: If we went on vacation, would you be available to come and take care of the children wherever we went?- she ask me and I nod immediately, work and paid holidays? Who would say no to that.
Y/n: If the contract stipulates that then yes,of course I will.- I answer as professionally as I can.
Kris: If that was the case, we would pay for both the flight and the accommodation and more.- she informs me and I just nod without taking my eyes off her. -Okay, I'll discuss it with my daughter and I'll let you know the answer.- she comments getting up and I do too.
Y/n: I'll be attentive to the phone.- I inform her with a smile and shaking the hand that she offers me. -By the way, you have a completely impressive hall from an architectural point of view and it's beautifull.- I praise and she smiles hugely at me.
Kris: Thank you very much.- she thanks me walking towards the main door with me behind. -Thank you for coming and pay attention to the phone.- she tells me as a farewell, once I am at the entrance and out of the house.
Y/n: Thank you, Mrs. Jenner, it has been a pleasure and I'm glad I was able to have this interview. - I say gratefully and say goodbye walking back to my car.
As I walk to my car, I just wait for them to call me so I can call my parents to tell them I've gotten my first job. I'm sure they will be incredibly proud of me as it opens my first job alone and without any connection; like taking care of the neighbours' children.
...................................................................
I had been working as a babysitter for Kim Kardashian for a month, Kris called me the next day and asked me to come to her house again. When I returned the next day, she was waiting for me with Kim in her office and a contract ready for me to sign.
The kids are amazing, North has moments where she acts a bit like a diva and is usually a bit difficult. But you just have to let her have a little tantrum and she immediately listens to you.
In addition to the fact that the three little ones stick to me, they listen to me right away and are very calm. So I don't have many problems with them.
I'm usually with them from 8 in the morning, while Kim works from her office or goes out to work; until 6,7 or 8 in the afternoon. There are also a few days, when I stay over and Kim can go out or relax with the family without worrying about her children.
I knew everyone in the family except for Kylie, Rob, Kanye, and Caitlyn; since when I have been with the family they had not been and we had not coincided.
But from those I knew, I could tell that many of the things they say about them are completely untrue and that they are incredible people. Today was Saturday and I had the day off, since Kanye has the children this weekend and since they are separated I don't have to work.
I was lying on the bed completely exhausted, because last night after coming home from work I went out with some college friends and I had had a little to drink.
I had come home around 7 in the morning, drunk and with a slice of pizza in my hand. So I had not planned to wake up early or at least not before 4 in the afternoon.
But my rest is interrupted by my phone. I groan pulling my head out from under the pillow and reach over to pick up my phone from my nightstand. I put it to my ear and it's Kim.
She calls me to inform me that there has been a change in the holidays, the plane would take off on Monday at 8 in the morning and we would go to Mykonos for 1 week. But apparently the trip is early, so the plane takes off in two hours and I have a half hour drive to the airport. I thank her and quickly get out of bed.
I shower, leaving my wet brown hair to air dry and have a quick breakfast in twenty minutes. I put on a set of black underwear, a white Reebok tracksuit, with a short-sleeved top by Ralph Lauren and white Nike air force ones.
I put the clothes and the things I was missing in the suitcase and close it. I pick up the black Vans backpack, putting some tissues, a bottle of water, a headache pill, disinfectant wipes, my glasses, my sunglasses, my wallet, my passport, and a sweatshirt just in case.
I close everything and with my cell phone and house keys I run to my car. I dump all my stuff in the passenger seat, climbing in on the driver's side and putting it into gear right away. I drive as responsibly as possible, but trying to arrive as soon as possible so as not to be late.
When I make it to the airport, I park the car and put on my sunglasses so that my head doesn't hurt even more. I walk as fast as possible to where Kim had told me to, repositioning the strap of my backpack every two seconds and dragging the four-wheeled suitcase.
In the distance I see one of Kim's bodyguards, who signals to me and as soon as I stop next to him, he asks for my suitcase. I give it to him and he asks me to follow him to the private plane that Kim and the kids are on. I climb the stairs to the plane, immediately hearing the screams of the children and making my head hurt.
North: Y/n! - I hear her scream and how she hugs me by the waist.
Y/n: Good morning North.- I greet her, returning the hug as best I can due to the height.
North: Come play with us.- she says pulling my hand down the aisle of the plane.
Kim: Northie leaves Y/n alone for a few seconds and sit down, the plane will take off right away.- she tells her daughter, who immediately complains and starts a tantrum.
Y/n: Pay attention to your mother, the sooner you sit down the sooner we'll take off and the sooner we can get up to play.- I tell her and like lightning she sits in one of the seats.
I help Kim by getting the kids into the seats and making sure they're strapped in. I sit to the right of Chicago and Saint, while North sits across from Kim and Pslam sits on her mother's lap.
Kim: I'm sorry I called you and that you won't have yuor free weekend.- she comments and as I pay attention to her.
Y/n: It's okay, last-minute changes happen and it's common.- I answer with a smile, taking a pill from my backpack and drinking it with water.
Kim: Fun night?- she questions me with some interest.
During this last month, Kim has been very kind and we have a good personal relationship. She is an incredible person and since she is divorcing Kanye spends more time alone at home and I'm there. So we talk a lot and we are quite confident.
Y/n: Quite a lot.- I answer with a little laugh. - I arrived around 7 in the morning and I had barely fallen asleep when you called me.- I commented with a small smile, looking at the little ones and then at her again.
Kim: I'm really sorry.- she apologizes again, but I make a gesture with my hand and dismiss it as important. -Kanye has canceled his weekend, so my mother thought it would be better to bring it forward so the kids don't notice it.- she tells me and I nod in understanding.
Y/n: It doesn't bother me at all.- I assure her, since she has a lot on her and I don't want to make her think that it has bothered me or something, and feel guilty about it.
A few seconds later I start to entertain Saint and Chicago who call me, so they don't start complaining and give me a terrible headache. Five minutes later, a little girl runs into the plane and approaches Chicago.
Kim: Stormi, what are you doing? - she asks the girl and I already know whose name it is.
Kylie: Mom has changed planes for us.- I hear how someone responds, but I am only able to help the girl get on with her cousins and I hear how they talk without any sense, making Saint look at me begging.
I listen as the grown girls talk quietly in the background. I stretch out my arms to Saint and sit him on my lap, watching how the little ones fit better and I help Stormi put on her seatbelt.
Kim: And this is Y/n, the babysitter we'll have in the summer.- I hear how she says and as soon as I hear my name I pay attention to the adults. -Y/n this is the youngest of all, Kylie Jenner.- she introduces us and I get up with Saint in my arms and stretch out my hand towards her.
Y/n: A pleasure.- I greet and she shakes my hand with a small smile.
Kylie: So you're the amazing new babysitter for Kim.- she says when we separate our hands and I take the opportunity to greet Kris with a little hug.
Y/n: I think so.- I say with a small smile, sitting back in the chair and tying Saint and me with my seatbelt.
Kim: It's a shame that it's only mine during the summer.- she comments and I look at her curiously.
Kylie: And why is that? - she asks sitting in front of me and tying her own belt.
Kim: Because she knows how to control the tantrums of that onw over there.- she responds pointing to her eldest daughter.
North: Hey that's very rude.- she tells his mother looking at her badly. "I don't throw tantrums and I find it ridiculous that..." she starts to shout and I clear my throat making her shut up inmediatelly.
Kim: See, not even I have achieved that since she was born.- she says pointing to what just happened.
Kris: You did well to listen to me honey.- she says to her daughter sitting on my right side, across the aisle and in front of Kim.
The adults quickly change the conversation, as soon as it is safe to remove the seat belts me and the children go to the back to play. So I start playing with everyone, being very careful with Pslam since he is still small and can do damage.
Kylie POV
I stare at the girl in the back with my nephews and daughter, as I process what just happened with my niece. About how just by clearing her throat, North has stopped complaining to her mother and immediately shut up.
Kylie: How the hell did she made it? - I ask completely impressed.
Kim: I don't even know.- she answers looking at her children with a smile. -But I don't know what I'm going to do without her when the summer ends.- she tells me and I look at her confused.
Kylie: And why is that? - I ask curiously.
Kim: Because she's covering the summer shift and Nicole and Sara will come back to work in September.- she answers me with a little grimace. -Besides that she has to go back to university.- I commented and I looked at her surprised.
Kylie: University?- I ask with surprise, since she seems young but I didn't expect her to go to college yet.
Kris: Yes, honey.- she answers me with a small laugh. -She studies architecture.- she tells me and I nod processing the information.
Kylie: But how old is she, because I thought she would be 16 or 17.- I comment and they both laugh.
Kris: She's 19 and this September she'll start her second year of architecture.- she says and I look back at the incredibly attractive girl.
Kim: In addition to the fact that she is in the women's soccer team of her college and has a full scholarship for it. - she informed me and I nod, without stopping looking at the girl and paying attention to every possible detail of her.
Kylie: I'm impressed.- I comment sincerely.
Kim: Well, you will be even more so during the trip, because when you see how she is with the kids and how they listen to her immediately.- she comments and I look at her for a few seconds.
My gaze turns to Y/n, paying attention to the clear abs of her body that the t-shirt exposes and the perfection of her face. How her wavy brown hair falls over her shoulders and back. Her sharp jawline is exposed when she pulls her hair into a high ponytail, exposing her strong, feminine jawline.
I detail her for the rest of the flight, trying to hide it as much as possible and prevent my mother and sister from noticing. I don't want my sisters to find out that i'm checking out Y/n and spend the rest of the trip laughing at me for it.
So I try to be discreet while I look at her, feeling a certain pull in my stomach when I see her bite her lip or run her tongue over her thin but perfect and plump lips.
Those lips that call you to savor them and kiss them until your lips are sore. To kiss them until you feel like you'll faint from lack of air, until you feel like your lips will droop and you lose the feeling of reality.
I have never felt so attracted to a woman as i am right now. Yes, I am capable of appreciating the beauty of a woman, in a platonic and non-sexual or romantic way. But I have to admit that she would made me do anything for her and not complain one bit.
In addition to my clear attraction to her, I haven't had sex for a long time and when I say a lot, I mean a lot. So just by seeing her body and some of her gestures I'm already starting to get turned on.

I need some advice: More than a year ago, a "friend" asked several people to lend her money for her move. My sister, several people and I gave her cash, and she promised to start repaying the month of the following year, 4 months later. When she arrived in her new apartment, she discovered that the job she thought she had gotten was ultimately given to someone else, and on top of that she made the decision to change accommodation, moving from a shared apartment to an apartment on her own. Under these conditions, she told us she could not repay before March, because she had to find a new job, which we all understood. Then she adopted a cat. She went to the restaurant several times a week, posting everything on Instagram, in stories. She was going to bars. She bought an electric bike. She took a trip to Italy. Lots of useless things, like DVDs, PS4 games, figurines, mangas… Time passed, March arrived, and nothing. She didn't mention the money again and no one said anything. I didn't need the money, but it was my money, and I couldn't understand why she didn't prioritize repayments when she was buying all these things. I first asked her kindly when she thought she would get the money back, and she told me in the summer. I waited until September and sent her a long message, which I really turned out to be polite and understanding. I told her that I saw her purchases, and that it hurt me. That she had promised to repay and that she could start little by little, and not even with me, because some people who had given her money needed it. She didn't have to stop buying anything for herself, but she had to make a budget. Her response came a few minutes later, saying I wasn't a real friend or I never would have sent her that. That the things she paid for were not with her money, but with the money of people who agreed to lend to her. The same people to whom she already owed and who continued to lend to her. She then told me that she was going to save money and that she would pay me back first, then it would be over. I said goodbye to her and blocked her. Since then, nothing. I haven't received any money, even though she knows where I live. She always goes to restaurants, travels and buys lots of things. My sister hasn't seen her money again, and today the 'friend' just got blocked for not wishing her on her birthday. She had already blocked two of her exes, deciding they didn't deserve to be paid back. I have her mother's number. We have known each other for years, we were "sisters". I know she is not a good person, she is selfish, manipulative, she will never change. But I can't stop thinking about it. Not only did I have the right to claim my money back after a year, but it was also a question of respect, of principle. I can't accept that she doesn't get punished. Except I don't know what to do. Unblock her by reminding her that she still owes us money ? Tell her parents, who don't know she has debts ? Move on ?
Update : I'm a moron who can't think for two minutes, I unbloked her, told her to send me my money since she can fucking go to Italy and have my adress, told her that I hoped she would be more respectful with the people who are still waiting, anf bloked her again. Happy birthday, bitch.
Not sure she will send anything, but I needed her to know that I was not forgetting, nor forgiving.

Storytime: Holy Shit Going No Contact Was A Really Good Idea, Actually
TW: offhanded mentions for abuse and neglect, general parental bullshit
Okay so people were saying they're down for this so here I go.
A little context for those who don't know: I'm an adult child of pretty severe emotional and psychological abuse, as well as like comical degrees of neglect that I've been making up for over the course of the past year for so. I say "comical" not because it's funny, but because if it was depicted in like a YA novel critics would pan it for being unrealistic. My mom convinced me that doctors don't actually like it when you get checkups and get mad at you for "wasting their time", so I didn't see a doctor for like eight or so years. That's on the low end of how fucked these people are. My parents are both alcoholics and my mom is a diagnosed narcissist (she doesn't know this, but I do because my long-time psychologist was her psychologist first before she decided she was "done with therapy". He told me this after like four years as a part of his attempt to get me to realize I was in a deeply fucked situation, ultimately saving my life in a very literal sense - but that's another story). I'm not saying you can't be both of those things and not be a good person, but I am saying she did not choose to go down that particular path.
I went no contact shortly after I got married to a person who was able to see that my parents were both pretty mean to me most of the time in ways I forced myself to process as humor. They sent like one weird card before we moved and now they don't have my new address or phone number.
Unfortunately I'll still occasionally hear random updates about them - mainly from my older sister, who was the object of my mom's obsessive, manipulative, parent-ifying "love" before she left home at 18 and I became the new Golden Goose. I don't like this. I wish she would stop doing this. I asked her before, but I guess she forgot. Or maybe part of the shell shock from the damage of our childhood is that she just needs to tell someone who would understand in a more primal way than her fiancee. I don't know. She pretty much raised me when I was younger so I guess this is what I'm giving her in return.
A couple of days ago she called me and casually mentioned the latest scrambling my parents are doing. They're moving in with my grandma so she can keep living in the home she raised her family in. They're not kicking out my autistic brother anymore, they're actually bringing him with them. I don't think he has a choice. They're also bringing the family dog they've neglected even worse than they did me, despite how my grandma absolutely insisted she would never want a pet. They're going to turn my kind of run-down childhood home into a rental for extra income. My parents are landlords to be. Cool cool cool.
A lot of this is about money. I have never been comfortable talking about money - probably more so than other people. I never had it explained to me. It wasn't displayed or handled in a way that made sense in my mind. My mom complained and lamented about bills to me all the time but she also had maybe four Prada purses. It didn't make sense.
Something she told me a lot about were the details of my grandmother's will - like, from as young as maybe 16. My grandma is indeterminately wealthy in a way I don't really understand and can barely even guesstimate. She owns her own house, remodeled it, bought my uncle a house, bought my childhood home when my parents almost got kicked out and they paid her the mortgage ever since. She paid for all my siblings (except for me since I dropped out) to go to college. She has an amount of money. I have no idea how much since she's pretty buttoned up - loving, but reserved - which I was told is just a generational thing for some Japanese people. I mean she has the right. She spent like a year or two in a concentration camp as a little girl, she has the fucking right.
But yeah I was told more than a few times that I have a big inheritance for after grandma dies. My mom never told me how much but stressed that it was a lot. I didn't really know why she was telling me this. I actually felt like she shouldn't be telling me this. It made me feel sad and dirty to hear her describe it as something I should be excited for. She also mentioned a lot that I was the only grandchild in the will, and not my three step-siblings that I've known since birth.
Once again - this was NOT something I wanted to know. I had no idea what to do with that information. I tried not to think about it.
Fast forward a couple of years and I'm married and we just bought a house. So before you officially buy a house there's a point where an inspector looks everything over and gives you the details - you know, so you can make an informed decision. The inspection we got for the first house we almost bought informed us that the whole thing was hand-renovated and pretty much fucked to the point where if we bought it we'd have to replace the walls. We didn't buy that house.
The inspector for the second house we loved confirmed it was old. Most of the houses in Portland are old. But it seemed pretty much fine. The only issue was some moss on the roof and a few loose shingles, he said. So we bought it.
Turns out the roof is not good. It's very not good. And we have to replace it before October or else we'll lose our home insurance, and ultimately the home itself. Stressful! I found a pretty knowledgeable roofer and he quotes 14k for the treatment. Add that to the 10k we were already planning on spending on refinancing - a separate financial obstacle course for home owners that Riley was pursuing, since the fiances are their domain - and we were both at a loss as to what to do.
Ultimately I reluctantly decide to see if my grandma would give me part of my inheritance early. Or all of it? I debate how to phrase it for a night. I didnt want to assume how much she was planning on leaving me. I didn't really like to think about how she left specifically me anything in terms of money.
But that didn't end up being an issue! Because when I called my grandma and explained the situation, how we were hit with like three major financial blows back to back and were just hoping to get some aid until things stabilized in a few months, she casually mentioned that I'm actually not in her will. None of the grandkids are!
I immediately stammered out a series of no no nevermind then, but she stopped me and explained how she has a "small emergency fund" for situations like this and asks how much I needed. I say I'm not comfortable with that, but she won't drop the subject. She says the roof is 14k so she'll just give me that. She says 14k won't be a dent in her "small emergency fund". I have absolutely no idea what my grandma's financial situation is.
Did you know if you're given only Goodwill clothes for all of your formative years you're likely to be unable to buy new clothes at even a Target without feeling lost and sick to your stomach? Did you know that if you take Lithium they won't let you sell your blood? Do you know the easiest ways to shoplift food?
I don't think my grandma knows any of that and at this point I don't want to tell her.
I accept the check. I thank her. Riley thanks her. We both cry a lot for a lot of the morning because this is just a lot and it's very confusing. Riley says they've never accepted that amount of money before and would never imagine it coming from a family member. I say my grandma has been doing shit like this for my whole life.
But in the back of my head I'm reeling. I don't consider myself a materialistic person, but I can't help but ask why did my mom lie to me? Why did she lie, and continue to push the lie even when she saw it made me uncomfortable? Why did she bring it up when I'd get mad at my siblings as a way to force me to put aside my feelings?
It's just such a random thing to make up and double down on. Triple down, even. And I understand this whole mess comes from a pretty lucky position - we were able to buy a house and get financial aid to keep the house at a crucial time. That's lucky. We're really lucky. But why the fuck was she keeping up this bit for so long?
She could've never mentioned it and I wouldn't be upset about not being in the will. Frankly I probably wouldn't notice. But holy shit I carried so much stress for years over being the one grandchildren in the will that I had no clue how to navigate. I debated telling my siblings but after all of us were told that we should consider ourselves blood-related, hearing that our own grandmother drew a distinction sounded devastating.
I can't think of a reason why my mom would push a lie this random but so big for so long. It wasn't for me, clearly. I'm not upset that I'm not going to get a fucking jackpot when my grandma dies. I was never really able to wrap my mind around that being a thing. I'm just fucking baffled that my mom was so completely delusional for my whole life and I just followed along for so long.
So long! I was so unbelievably loyal to her despite every attempt she made to drag me into the void. The day before I got married I was telling her over video call that I didn't have a right to be unhappy not working while I recovered from my first major medication shift in years. She said, even though I am the only child of four to pay rent in their own apartment, that I should be grateful for my soon-to-be wife because "without them I'd be homeless".
Fuck that. Fuck that and fuck her. With the stories I have I could ruin my parents in my extended family's eyes forever. The only thing that keeps me from doing that is knowing that it would hurt my Grandma more to know that she wasn't able to step in while it was actually happening. And she's done so much for me and our family that I don't want her to carry that in the end of her life.
It was one lie that really made me realize some things, though. The best thing I ever did for myself was cut contact with my parents. If I didn't cut contact - if I didn't move states - I would almost guaranteed be dead. This is not an exaggeration. It was fucking messy.
But I got out. I have a wife and a few close friends, a roof over my head and some cats darting around my feet. Before we moved I was terrified of my parents showing up at our old apartment. I used to spiral imagining mom screaming outside the door. I tried to plan with Riley what we'd do if that happened. One night I claimed I wanted to take a boxing class "so I can know what it feels like to get really hit and I won't be afraid of it anymore".
I'm not scared now. These are sick people and I've spent more than enough time lamenting how awful my life would be if I continued not noticing that. I was thinking my mom was unable to perceive me as my own person, and now I'm convinced she never saw me or my sister as people at all. We were just little dollies she could whisper all her traumas to.
I hope my sister cuts contact too. I told her about the will thing and said that I'm pretty sure my parents would use that as a way to keep relationships with their remaining children. I said she should probably consider that if she decides to cut ties.
Honestly, I won't blame her if she does that and decides to stay in contact. It's a hard world out there. But I hope she does anyway. She just bought a house too and is about to get married to a man with a family infinitely more loving than ours ever was. I tell her to consider them her family. After the shit she's seen that's the least she deserves.

Rebirth AU: Roman your nephew called and asked if you were part of the betting pool, and if you knew which Altesian your sister slept with
The Arc Family is Weird
Luna: Hello, Uncle Roman!
Roman: Luna! How’s my favourite greedy goblin doing?
Luna: I’m doing fine, how are you?
Roman: I’ll be doing better when your brother comes, and joins me; I need more competent minds, and hands helping me with… the business.
Luna: Right, the business~!
Roman: So, why did you decide to call me, not to say hi I assume?
Luna: The family betting pool, its been shaken up a bit.
Roman: That pool on who’s gonna sleep with, Jaune?
Luna: Yep, that one.
Roman: Okay, so what’s the reshuffle?
Luna: Well we added a new category to the pool, and a new contender!
Roman: Oh, really? Who is it, and what did you add?
Luna: Well… We added, Mom to the pool…
Roman: You added, Juni to the pool?! Why the hell did you add her to the pool, who added her to the pool?!
Luna: Dad place twenty on, Mom popping his cherry; which is also the new bet that’s been going on.
Roman: Ughhh… Of course, Achny put money on that… Freaking weirdo… So, what’s the betting pool like now?
Luna: Okay, the two categories are who will sleep with, Jaune, what order will they sleep with, Jaune, and who will pop his cherry.
Roman: Decent categories… And, who are the favoured to win?
Luna: Well, we went for top three on each, but for popping his cherry we have, Jeanne with the lead…
Roman: Twin advantage, good bases to go off from.
Luna: Followed by, Mom.
Roman: How many of you degenerates are betting on your mother?!
Luna: And, behind in third by eight points is, Thiriana.
Roman: And what about the one who will sleep with him?
Luna: Well, the top three is, Jeanne, Mom, and then, Saphron.
Roman: Saphron? Isn’t she gay, why is she on the list, let alone so high on the list?
Luna: Dad said how mom wasn’t into women, but then woke up one day with dad, and some, Atlasian woman in a threesome. And, if she was anything like mom she was going to do it too, and regret nothing.
Roman: Oh yeah, I remember that day… Put me down for a hundred on, Saphron then. Smart money’s on that. Arc, are a weird lot…
Luna: That’s what, Dad said too. So… You remember that day about the threesome, Mom, and Dad were a part of…?
Roman: Aye…?
Luna: Who was it with?! Can you tell me! Please, please, please~?
Roman: Why…?
Luna: Just because.
Roman: Weird lot you, Arc’s are… Willow Schnee.
Luna: Willow Schnee? Willow Schnee of the, Schnee Dust Company?
Roman: That’s the one.
Luna: When, how?!
Roman: Well for the how; Juni, and Willow Schnee were partners in, Atlas back in the day. So they go way back. As for the when, I believe it was at, Willow’s, Hen Party…? Yeah, I that’s about when it happened.
Luna: Hen Party?
Roman: Stag Party, but for the ladies~!
Luna: Oh, okay… Wait, how do you know about all of this…?
Roman: Oh, Juni sent me a drunk text photo about the whole thing. Teased her about it for months afterwards! Ahhh~! Good times…
Luna: Sounds like a drunk mom thing to do.
Roman: Yeah, Juni was a completely different person twenty-three years ago. She’s mellowed out since marrying your dad… But, not much, but nonetheless.
Luna: I doubt that… Wait… This all happened Twenty-three years ago…?
Roman: Yeah. Why, is that meant to mean something?
Luna: Well, it’s just… Uhh… Winter Schnee… Willow Schnee’s first daughter is… Twenty-two years old…
Roman: …
Luna: You don’t think…?
Roman: …
Luna: …
Roman: Five Hundred says she isn’t.
Luna: You’re on! DAD! You, and Mom had a threesome with, Willow Schnee?!
Acheius: What?! How the hell did you find that out?!
Luna: Uncle Roman told me!
Acheius: Roman! What are you telling my daughter?!
Roman: Hey, Achny~! Where’s that ten Lien you still owe me?
Acheius: Roman, I swear…?!
Luna: Never mind that! You slept with Willow Schnee twenty-three years ago, yes?!
Acheius: Yes…?
Luna: Willow’s first daughter, Winter Schnee is twenty two years old… I-Is she your daughter…? Do we have a ninth sister?!
Acheius: …
Acheius: JUNIPER?!
Roman: Well, looks like I’m not winning this bet…
~~~
Jaune: …
Jeanne: …
Jaune: Was this a thing in your world?
Jeanne: Nope…
Jaune: Oh… Okay…
Jaune: …
Jaune: If she winds up in the list, I’m going to shank one of you with a rusty spoon.
Jeanne: Noted.
Jaune: Good.
I am seething - angry is not the word.
I had a beautiful big fruit basket sent up to my sister's for her to take in for my dad at the hospital for father's day on Sunday. She is really poorly with the flu at the moment so obviously can't go into the hospital so she asked my uncle who was visiting today to take it and because he's an absolute fucking bellend he refused.
It cost me a lot of money which I don't really have, which isn't really the point, I wanted him to have something from me since I can't get up to visit, and since it's fruit it will spoil in a few days.
I can only imagine it's because it's from me and he's getting some sort of sick kick out of letting my dad think I don't give a shit. This is the same man who two years ago when my dad was recovering from cancer surgery and a stroke and my mental health was also in the worst state it's ever been in in my life, decided to salt the wounds by accusing me of being a terrible daughter who couldn't care less about my dad because my health and my work responsibilities prevented me from making the over 100 mile round trip to see him - I only managed to get to see him twice in the 5 months he was there.
WIBTA if I asked my mom not to invite my sister on vacation with us?
(submitted 5/26/24)
I (22X) have a lot of anxiety about politics (namely the upcoming presidential election and its potential consequences regarding my access to healthcare, among many other things). It started in 2016 and then just kept getting worse and worse as the years went on. I know that if I try to go about my day as normal on election night, I’ll most likely end up obsessively refreshing polling results and worrying myself into a panic attack (or several). So, I did a lot of research and planned a week-long vacation on and a bit after election day. It’s at a nice cabin a short drive away that’s all about disconnecting from phones and technology and reconnecting with nature. I figured because everyone in my family votes absentee already, me and my mom (56F) could go up together while my dad and my oldest sister (63M and 25F) would stay home because of work obligations and take care of our pets. My mom was really enthusiastic about the idea (especially because I went on a vacation with my dad last year, and it’s been a long time since her and I have had a parent child bonding trip), and she helped me finalize the dates and pay for the cabin. I’m in college and haven’t been able to find a summer job, but I’m still trying to save money to help cover the cost of food/entertainment/gas for the trip.
When we were booking, she talked about potentially inviting my sister (24F) on vacation too, as a family bonding thing. She moved out a year and a bit ago and is living with a friend, so my mom doesn’t get to see her all that often. But I really don’t want my sister to come along. Me and her haven’t gotten along since elementary school, and now whenever she visits I’m on edge the whole time. Plus, she has a very old special needs dog that she would have to bring with her that needs constant supervision, and his energy wildly varies between “sleeps in a ball all day” and “blindly runs around screaming and peeing everywhere and getting stuck like a roomba all day”. Which again, that’s very stressful to me. In addition, whenever my sister is over at our house, she always finds a way to bring up politics and wants to talk about current events (never the good ones, only the bad ones). Thankfully we agree on the important things (even if she leans a tad more towards the center than I do), but still. The whole point of this trip is to avoid having to worry about politics, and she always finds a way to bring it up. Plus, I just genuinely think she’d go stir crazy being cooped up in a cabin with me and my mom and poor cell service. There’s not a lot to do in the surrounding area besides hiking (she’s got a heart condition), a small Main Street with some shops that’s a 15 minute drive away, and a diner. It’ll probably just be reading, board games, and cards for a week straight.
Why I think I’d be TA: my mom and her don’t spend a lot of time together, and my mom is the one paying for the vacation. Even though I think she wouldn’t like glamping with us, my sister could still want to be invited and want to come along.
Why I think I wouldn’t be TA: I don’t think my sister would like being in a cabin with me and my mom for a week straight with no TV and poor cell service. My oldest sister is also not going on vacation with us due to work obligations, so they could have some sisterly bonding time while we’re away. Plus, the entire point of the vacation is to have a few days where I don’t have to dread election results, and I know my sister is going to want to talk about election results as soon as they start coming in.
So, would I be the asshole if I asked my mom not to invite my sister on vacation with us?
Birthday Gift
happy birthday to my favorite boy who i want all the best for <3
word count: 1163
pairing: Lee!Todoroki & Ler!Midoriya
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
January 11th was a completely normal day.
This is why Shoto woke up at his usual 6:30, had breakfast, went for a run, then got ready for class in peace.
It’s why he sat through English and Art quite happily without anyone talking to him, spare Yaoyorozu asking for a sharpener.
It’s why lunch was an uneventful affair, with Midoriya chatting to Uruaka about a new hero who'd just debuted, a conversation that Shoto listened to but did not contribute.
It’s why he was paired with Ojiro for close-range training and spent an hour dodging his tail and trying not to set his classmate on fire.
And it’s why, finally, once they got back to the dorms he planned to retreat to his room to do his homework in peace.
And of course, since this is a normal day, his plans got disrupted. This came in the form of Midoriya, who knocked at his door.
“Uh, Aizawa-sensei said this came for you.” He said, holding out a white envelope, with Shoto’s name written on it in familiar handwriting.
 Shit.
See today was a normal day, or at least he wanted it to be, but it also happened to be the day he was born, 16 years ago. Nothing worth celebrating, in his eyes, but his sister disagreed. And so, a card. From Fuyumi. For his birthday.
Midoriya peered at the letter, clearly curious but unwilling to ask. Shoto considered shutting the door on him, but they were friends after all. Besides, the day was nearly done, what harm could telling him do?
So Shoto opened the envelope, took out the money, and skimmed the card inside.
Dear Shoto, it read, I hope you have an amazing birthday! I’m sorry I can’t celebrate with you, so I’m sending this card instead. Use the money to buy yourself something cool because I have no idea what you’re into.
Lots of Love, Fuyumi
Shoto smiled, a little, and then set the card on his bedside table. When his eyes came back to Midoriya, he was frowning.
“Wait, when’s your birthday?” He asked. Shoto glanced to the side, then responded,
“Today.”
At this, Midoriya gaped at him, outraged.
“And you never said? I didn’t get you anything!” He cried.
Shoto sighed. “Well, clearly I didn’t expect anything.”
Midoriya pouted, jutting out his lower lip in exaggerated dismay.
“What if I wanted to get you something?” He asked, “We could have had a little party.”
Shoto made a face. “I’m fine just… not doing anything, I don’t need a party.”
Clearly, Midoriya was running out of patience, as he punctuated his next sentence with several pokes to his chest.
“Yes, you do. Even if you don’t think so.” At each poke, Shoto twitched a little, a detail that did not go unmissed by Midoriya.
“In fact, I’m quite upset that you didn’t tell me, your trusted friend.” Upset, but there was a sly grin spreading across his face, yeah right. “Maybe I should show you how upset I am.”
Shoto knew where this was going, and took an anticipatory step back, then another, until he was tripping over his futon and landing lightly on the mattress. Midoriya followed, his sly grin turning predatory as crouched next to him, his hands coming up to rest on Shoto’s sides.
“Midoriya.” He said, warningly. Midoriya just giggled, beginning to wiggle his fingers into Shoto’s sides.
“Todoroki.” Midoriya responded, mimicking Shoto’s tone. Shoto gasped, his hands flying up to cover his face as he fell backward onto the futon.
“Nooo,” Midoriya whined, moving to squeeze his sides, “Show me your cute smile!”
Shoto just shook his head, pressing his hands against his mouth where he could feel giggles building up. Midoriya went back to scribbling, then, made a fatal move.
As his fingers gently teased Shoto’s sides, he moved to shift himself into a different position, putting pressure on Shoto’s right side, which caused a surprised yelp of laughter to come from him, slipping out from his fingers. Midoriya stilled. Shoto stilled. The whole room froze. Then,
“What was that!” Midoriya said, laughing.
“I dohon’t kn- WAIT Midohorihihiyaha!” Midoriya’s fingers were now pressing down against his right side, scratching harshly. It tickled so bad. He’d always felt like his left side was more ticklish, but this was easily matching it. He tried to squirm, but his body felt limp, weakened by the laughter now pouring from his lips.
Curious, Midoryia shifted his hand to the other side, still tickling. Almost immediately, the sensations died down, leaving him giggling weakly.
“Huh.” Midoriya said, then began tickling his right side the same way as before. He yelped again, flushing in embarrassment as he weakly kicked his legs, trying in vain to fight off the sensations. Experimentally, Midoriya stopped tickling him, then fluttered his fingers over his left side. Shoto squealed, wiggling away a little.
“Huh.” Midoriya said, again.
“Whahahat?” Shoto asked, still laughing.
“It looks like you’re ticklish in different ways, on different sides. So if I do this,” He pinched roughly along Shoto’s right side, making his back arch a little as he laughed, “Or this,” He spidered his fingers along his left, giggling as Shoto’s knee jerked up to defend the spot, “Then you must have different sensitivity levels, it must be due to your quirk, maybe your ice side is worse for rougher tickling because the cold has made the skin thicker, or tougher? And the fire because the heat makes you more sensitive? That would mean maybe your body experiences pain differently too, which could have an impact on thewaythatyoufightthatyoumaynotevenreali-”
“Midoriya! Pleheahase!” He begged, still caught under Midoriya’s tickling hand, which had been crawling toward his stomach as he mumbled to himself.
“Oh! Sorry, Todoroki.” He said, sheepishly, removing his hand and letting Shoto breathe.
“That would mean, though, that the most effective way to tickle you is- Where are you going?” He said teasingly, as Shoto had been making to roll onto his side.
“Uh.” He said, intelligently.
“I’m still upset, you know! Consider this your birthday gift.”
Shoto flushed, then cackled as Midoriya’s fingers descended on him again. One hand clawed at his ribs, the other scribbled gently. His long-forgotten hands sprung up to hold Midoriya’s wrists, his legs kicked weakly at the floor, and he laughed, high-pitched and desperate, at the sensations that were crawling along his body.
“Maybe since you’re sixteen I should tickle you for sixteen minutes.” Midoriya mused.
“Nohoho, pleheahase dohohon’t!” He cried.
“Aw, but you love it, don’t you Todoroki-kun?” Just when Shoto thought his face couldn’t get any redder, he felt heat crawling to his ears and down his neck. Still, he didn’t deny Midoriya’s claims.
When his hands started pulling at Midoriya’s wrists, he took the hint and stopped, leaving Shoto to gasp for breath.
“Happy Birthday?” He tried, and Shoto huffed a laugh in response.
“Sure, thank you.”
Maybe January 11th didn’t have to be a normal day after all.

Progression: Chapter 34 Preview
Pol has known Arm for close to six years. He started almost two years after Arm had and was his roommate from his first day on the job up until Arm started staying with Tankhun more often than not. But even when Arm’s long lasting yet private feelings for their boss were shown to be reciprocated, Pol had known those feelings were a thing prior to that. Arm didn't even have to admit to them. They were in tune enough with each other to form a brotherly relationship six months within knowing each other and for them to gain more insight on each other's pasts, traumas, and families a year or so in.
So Pol has known about Arm’s biological parents for a while. The last time he met Arm’s biological father was a few years ago, right before Porsche started working as a guard. He had shown up at the compound asking for money. When asking kindly hadn't gotten Arm to budge, it turned into more frequent visits. When frequent visits turned into blunt guilt trips and demands, that turned into Tankhun punching the man - for the second time.
If Tankhun weren't so upset with Arm and keeping his distance, he could see Tankhun punching him now.
“My son is the CIO and I demand to see him!”
Ah. So White had figured that out. When Pol glances over at Hansa, she looks agitated as she approaches him.
“Khun White,” Hansa prompts, causing him to turn around, “My brother is busy. You will need to reach out to him another time-”
“Your brother?” White says with a scoff, “Which one are you? Mali? Nala?”
Hansa smiles pleasantly, “Closer to our names than the last time I spoke to you, but no. I'm Hansa-”
“I really don't give a fuck who you are,” White snaps, then gives Hansa a once over that Pol does not like at all whatsoever, “But it's always nice to see you. You're the prettiest of the bitches Arm aligned himself with.”
That is worse than White just checking Hansa out. It's also enough for Pol to position himself in front of her.
“You need to leave,” Pol says, pointing at the door, “Arm has never agreed to willingly see you. I'm guessing you heard about his promotion and wantoney from him? What makes you think you earned that right, huh? After how you treated him and gave him up. He has a family-”
“Some random women are not his family!”
“And yet this random woman has access to his office while his sorry excuse for a father doesn't!” Hansa snaps, then takes Pol’s arm, “Come on. Let's go.”
Pol keeps his eyes on White until they are in the elevator.
------------------------------------------------------------------
“We’ll just go down to the second floor and go out the back entrance, then walk to the parking garage. Easy.”
Arm runs a hand down his face and glances up at his sister, “Did he say what he wanted?”
Pol lets out a disgruntled sound, “I'm sure it's money. Like it always has been. Word must have gotten back to him about your promotion, since you and Khun haven't posted anything about your engagement yet.”
Arm clenches his jaw and looks away, “I don't know if the engagement is still a thing.”
“You're wrong,” Hansa says, “It is still a thing. He just needs to blow off some steam. Calm down enough to see past your perspective. He was very nice to Malai and the twins this morning-”
“What did he say?” Arm says urgently.
“Nothing really of note, and nothing about calling off the engagement. I don't know if he showed Malai, but she mentioned to me that he had his ring on. So chill.”
…That's good to hear. But it still doesn't necessarily mean Khun won't eventually break things off.
“Come on,” Pol says, patting Arm’s back, “Let’s sneak out of your workplace. We’ll get you two drinks. Maybe three.”
“That's pushing it with him,” Hansa says, but quickly schools her face into a smile when Arm gives her a look, “Come on. We can go to Yok’s. You like it there-”
“Porsche is apparently staying with her,” Arm says, then puts his head down on his desk, “And he probably hates me too.”
“He does not. Relax,” Pol tells him, “But we can go somewhere else.”
“We can go to the bar at Vegas’s restaurant!” Hansa suggests, “He told all the bartenders that I get to drink for free. The offer may be extended to you-”
“Why are you friends with Vegas?” Arm asks, then looks at Pol, “Are you okay with this?”
“Why wouldn't he be?” Hansa asks sharply, “He's close friends with Pete. That means I can be best friends with Vegas.”
“You're not best friends with him.”
“They kind of are,” Pol mutters, but then shrugs his shoulders, “They text each other all the time now. It's strange, but I guess it's…comforting that someone so potentially dangerous cares about her, is a good friend to her, and will scare off guys who harass her if I'm in the bathroom.”
“Pol intimidates them with his height. Vegas intimidates them with his sheer force of will,” Hansa tells him, “I’m safer than I have ever been. Now, let’s ditch your ex-pa and go to my best friend’s bar. It isn't the type of place you can get too wild at either. So don't even try.”
“So it's not a fun bar,” Arm says, but lets Hansa pull him to his feet.
And somehow, she and Pol get him to agree to go anyway, all while not being detected by his father once.
The new company car helps with that. Pa has only stopped by the compound to harass him occasionally, happening in spurts when the man wants to reconnect purely for financial gain. But he has been around just enough to know that the guards tend to drive black vans. He also likely knows what Hansa’s car looks like, along with Malai’s, Nalin’s, and Preeda’s, even though he undermines their importance to him. He probably doesn't expect Arm to be driving a new Maserati Ghibli though, even with the CIO position he's been given. The last CIO had been given a car worth just a little over half the one Arm is driving now, and it was not officially signed into his name until he retired. Korn made sure Arm’s name went on the title by the end of his first day on the job. It made him feel a little uncomfortable. He felt like an imposter driving it. However, Tankhun talked him into getting over it during their vacation.
“You're my long-term boyfriend, the smartest and most competent person our family has ever hired, and you have earned it! You've also become Pa’s favorite out of all of his sons’ significant others, possibly because you aren't my foster cousin, but also because of your fantastic qualities and sexy glasses-”
“I seriously doubt your father gave me this car because of my glasses-”
“He did!” Khun says, then throws himself on top of Arm before sitting up and straddling his waist, “You're also my fiancé now. You would deserve nice things even if you weren't, but now that you are? I will personally make sure you don't talk yourself out of the luxuries that are given to you. You deserve them, Arm. You really do. So keep the car. It has four doors. One for each of our negotiated number of future daughters.”
Arm squints at that, “I feel like we would still need a bigger car with four daughters in the mix. My car technically only has five seats and there would be six of us.”
“That's a problem for later!” Khun says, “We’ll go car shopping after the first two are born. Until then, let’s focus on the wedding. And have sex.”
“At the same time?” Arm asks, his eyebrows raised. Khun just smiles and leans down to meet his lips.
“Arm, come on. We aren't even at the bar yet and you're crying,” Pol says with a sigh as he glances in the rearview mirror.
“It's probably good that you drove,” Hansa whispers, only to quickly and gracefully climb into the back when Pol stops at a red light before swiftly yanking at his ear.
Arm gives his sister - the one who is notoriously the LEAST annoying - a glare, then guards his ear with his hand, “Why did you do that?!”
“To distract you from your spiralling despair,” Hansa says, “I think I was channeling Preeda. Did it work?”
Sort of. But Arm isn't going to admit to it.
“It will be fine,” Hansa says, “You have plenty of people who love both you and Khun and are level-headed enough during this hiccup to support you, all while not enabling your negativity.”
While Arm understands they are trying to help, he is sure that he can manage to be negative despite their efforts for him not to be.

Dear Alice: Part 3
(Continued from here.)
---
"There's also Commander Murray, who likes it when we call him 'James' while not on duty. I'm almost certain the man is as tall as a tree. He's a brilliant fitness coach. Bit of a hardass, but he still manages to make it fun. He just won't let you be miserable unless you really need to take a break."
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
"And he's basically the base's Mum? He fusses over us and I'd wager he volunteers to be a sort of Morale Officer when he's stationed here. He loves organising group activities, which drives me bonkers sometimes, but at the end of the day, I'm really grateful. We have a spare storage room in the bunker part of the base he turned into a makeshift cinema, with a big sheet, a projector, fairy lights and everything."
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"He's given me advice on things too. Not just about the Navy, but about life in general. I worry about being out of touch with actual, real people... but he's about as real as they come. Kind as he is, the Commander won't sugarcoat things. He'll tell you off if you need telling off, and he actually listens to you. As in, YOU, not... your position or titles or whatever, though he takes stock of those too. I dunno how he does it. I wonder who he talks to when he needs someone to listen? Maybe he gets something out of talking to all of us. It's not my business, I know, but I can't help but marvel at what sort of person has the strength to keep on giving like that. He and Harry are a lot alike in that regard."
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
"I imagine they're the sort of people who lean on each other. I'd hate to think they do so much for everyone while they go it alone."
Tumblr media
"...and aaaaall across the field, speckled like diamonds, Harry... Oh, you would never believe it, lad..."
"What? What was it? You have me in suspense!"
Tumblr media
"Toilets. Toilets everywhere."
Harry snorted and laughed in that good-mannered but knowing way of his. That way that said he knew someone was full of it, but he wasn't actually offended.
"Oh come off it!" he smiled. "There's no possible way you could have unbolted fifty toilets, transported them to the pitch, and strewn them all over without being caught," he pointed out.
Tumblr media
"Certainly not without flooding the school in the process," Harry added.
Tumblr media
"Of course not! We were keen enough to pay off the custodial staff with the money we'd pooled together. You have to remember: Mother Superior Florence was a terrible woman. It was a group effort. The younger Sisters stood by us, even."
Harry snorted again at such a fantastical story, and James sat back, his expression glowing with pride at a well-spun yarn.
"Alright, fine, enough with my silly stories," James relented, eyes still twinkling. "Tell me how you're getting on with Henry. How's he been?"
Harry's look of amused incredulity softened, his smile grew until it crinkled at the corners of his deep, dark eyes. He adored and missed his fiance, but wasn't always sure when it was the right time to talk about him.
"O-oh! He's well, thank you for asking," Harry bashfully answered. "We're well, actually. It can be difficult, having a relationship long-distance like this, but... we're managing, I think," he explained.
"I won't be up here forever, and much as I love assisting with the research and medical needs of this outpost... I do want to go home."
James gave a serious nod in response. "I know how hard it can be, trying to maintain a relationship across a tundra and at least one ocean. If you ever need to talk about anything, Harry, you can come to me about it. Alright?"
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Harry's eyes looked so tired, but so grateful.
"Of course. And... and you can talk to me, James. I know you must miss Ethan terribly."
James blinked in surprise at the mention of his late husband, having honestly forgotten he'd confided in Harry about the anniversary of Ethan's death over a year ago. His posture slumped a little in resigned defeat, but his own smile softened, his bravado melting away to express gratitude of his own.
"... yeah. Yeah, every day. I'll be keeping that in mind. Thank you, Harry."

Interlude continued.
Happy Pride Month. <3
Fun fact: Commander Murray is a distant cousin of Arthur's, through Arthur's mother's family.
